- 0:42Speaker 4: Yes, I have goosebars.
- 0:51Speaker 3: It's so good looking to man, Matt.
- 0:59Speaker 4: I am not Brian Adams. I am Brian Myers, the
- 1:02Speaker 4: most professional wrestler, a man still very much in love
- 1:06Speaker 4: with Robinhood Prince of Thieves.
- 1:09Speaker 2: Yes, I'm also here, Pruces. Just just mar Mark selling.
- 1:12Speaker 2: I listen, guys, I loved it. I loved it Robinhood,
- 1:18Speaker 2: Prince of Thieves nineteen ninety one.
- 1:21Speaker 4: Did Brian watch it this morning? Dude, I have the
- 1:25Speaker 4: best morning, man. I will tell me.
- 1:27Speaker 2: Tell me.
- 1:28Speaker 4: I woke up, took my kids to school, I came back,
- 1:31Speaker 4: I got back into bed with a cup of coffee,
- 1:34Speaker 4: put on Robinhood Prince of Thieves, like all tucked in
- 1:36Speaker 4: and cozy. What an almost three hour like roller coaster
- 1:41Speaker 4: ride Right back to six year old me who saw
- 1:46Speaker 4: this goddamn movie in the theater with my dad, like,
- 1:48Speaker 4: holy shit, unbelievable man. And it for me, I mean
- 1:53Speaker 4: I've went down a rabbit hole sense of YouTube stuff,
- 1:55Speaker 4: but for me it holds up in every single way.
- 1:57Speaker 2: So that's never seen it. And I'm very vary, which is.
- 2:01Speaker 4: A completely different outlook. So this is gonna be crazy.
- 2:03Speaker 3: I think Brian left out a detail. He went to bed,
- 2:06Speaker 3: got his coffee, put on his his nostalgia goggles. Uh
- 2:11Speaker 3: oh no, oh no oh no, I didn't listen. Did
- 2:18Speaker 3: I watch it? Yeah, but I don't. I didn't dislike it,
- 2:22Speaker 3: but I certainly didn't like it.
- 2:24Speaker 2: So where did you? How did you watch it on
- 2:25Speaker 2: a plane?
- 2:25Speaker 4: I'm thinking watching plane and you watched the fourteen red wines?
- 2:29Speaker 4: Deep no, no wines, no alcohol. I don't believe it,
- 2:33Speaker 4: I swear to God because I was flying back to
- 2:35Speaker 4: go wrestle. So I did not drink.
- 2:37Speaker 2: Were you not, like? Were you texting during it?
- 2:40Speaker 3: Nope? I watched it. The it initially is like, oh
- 2:45Speaker 3: my god, I gotta fucking hate this because I don't
- 2:47Speaker 3: like those type of movies, Like I don't like guys
- 2:51Speaker 3: on horses with swords. That's just not my that.
- 2:55Speaker 2: You guys must have.
- 2:57Speaker 4: I don't like guys on horses.
- 2:59Speaker 3: Just not what that Medieval Times? You know, I'm not
- 3:02Speaker 3: really like a Medieval Times.
- 3:03Speaker 2: It's got to be in space for you.
- 3:05Speaker 4: Oh my god, space would rule. Huh? That would that
- 3:11Speaker 4: would be fucking I.
- 3:12Speaker 3: Will say it grew on me as it went along.
- 3:15Speaker 3: It grew on me. I know nothing about this movie.
- 3:19Speaker 3: I know I've never seen it. I remember, how did
- 3:22Speaker 3: you of all people like miss something like this? Yeah,
- 3:25Speaker 3: I remember the I remember the Crazer, maybe not so
- 3:28Speaker 3: much crazy, but I remember like the movie poster. I
- 3:30Speaker 3: remember the figures, but I never saw it.
- 3:33Speaker 4: Someone in one of the videos I watched made up
- 3:35Speaker 4: a great point. The song, the Brian Adams song and
- 3:39Speaker 4: the music video. It's way more over than the movie
- 3:42Speaker 4: ever was. And that's just a straight of course. It
- 3:45Speaker 4: was on the charts for like, I think a solid
- 3:47Speaker 4: two months or something like straight one number one. It
- 3:51Speaker 4: was like an epic bout and I can literally close
- 3:53Speaker 4: my eyes and see the music video because it was.
- 3:55Speaker 4: It was on MTV NBAH one like YEP, twenty four
- 3:59Speaker 4: to seven. Dude, I mean just a big, big deal radio.
- 4:02Speaker 4: I mean just every which way.
- 4:05Speaker 2: So uh, and then you you you're saying you did
- 4:08Speaker 2: get interested in it though as it went Yeah.
- 4:11Speaker 3: Like not like I don't think I'll ever watch it again.
- 4:15Speaker 2: Okay, like at the end where you kind of like
- 4:18Speaker 2: into the climax stuff.
- 4:21Speaker 3: Eh, it's okay. I thought it was okay. I'm just
- 4:26Speaker 3: not into the medieval.
- 4:30Speaker 4: Like it. I'm just not those those movies don't. But
- 4:33Speaker 4: it's it's history, it's something, it's a period of time.
- 4:36Speaker 4: They can just make it up.
- 4:37Speaker 3: Like I know that. It's just not something I'm.
- 4:40Speaker 2: Into's that's interesting, especially yeah, because it's not like Knights
- 4:43Speaker 2: like Lord of the Rings where there's where's magic. I
- 4:47Speaker 2: guess there was a little bit weird witch thing, but
- 4:49Speaker 2: but it's not like there's magic and spells, but it's like,
- 4:52Speaker 2: you know, yeah, it's a history thing. I'm not that
- 4:55Speaker 2: that actually happened. But uh, going back, Brian, we talked
- 5:00Speaker 2: about this. What what do you remember about the time
- 5:01Speaker 2: you said you went to see it with your dad?
- 5:03Speaker 2: Anything else?
- 5:03Speaker 4: Sure? Which is I had this weird thought about this today,
- 5:09Speaker 4: like nineteen ninety one, I'm six years old. My dad
- 5:11Speaker 4: definitely took to the movie theater and I saw it,
- 5:13Speaker 4: loved it. Mackenzie six right now, so that's like a
- 5:18Speaker 4: weird full circle thing. But also I will say this,
- 5:22Speaker 4: I don't know if Mark come back me up on this.
- 5:26Speaker 4: The remembrance of how fucking terrified I was of that
- 5:31Speaker 4: witch at six years old came back to me because
- 5:35Speaker 4: that is a scary, goddamn character. She's like balding, balding,
- 5:40Speaker 4: nasty two, got different eye colors, like spitting on shit,
- 5:45Speaker 4: and she's revolting. But I was terrified of that witch
- 5:50Speaker 4: when I was a kid. And it's pretty fucking violent
- 5:54Speaker 4: and shit, like the first scene the chopped off and
- 5:58Speaker 4: like you know.
- 5:59Speaker 2: It's getting chopped off, people getting shot in the head with.
- 6:01Speaker 4: Arrows, like no end, A lot of blood, a lot. Yeah.
- 6:06Speaker 2: That well. One of the one of the criticisms from
- 6:09Speaker 2: you know, critics is is robin Hood. This is like
- 6:13Speaker 2: a kids thing. You know, you grow up watching the
- 6:16Speaker 2: Disney robin Hood and then you take your kid to
- 6:18Speaker 2: see robin Hood and it's like that violent. I think
- 6:21Speaker 2: some people are like astounded.
- 6:23Speaker 4: I guess it's historically inaccurate, but I'm like, of course,
- 6:26Speaker 4: how accurate is the tale of Robinhood? To begin with?
- 6:30Speaker 2: I don't really think nobody really knows the.
- 6:32Speaker 4: Actor nobody really knows what the real truth is behind.
- 6:35Speaker 2: It's a folk tale. It's a folklore. It's it's grown.
- 6:39Speaker 2: It looks the Sean Connery Robinhood is very different from
- 6:42Speaker 2: the Disney robin Hood. That's very different from the whatever
- 6:45Speaker 2: robin Hood. The writer and the director wrote a a
- 6:51Speaker 2: in my opinion, a Tokien esque action adventure drama with
- 6:59Speaker 2: the robin Hood Eric there and the maid Marian in
- 7:02Speaker 2: the sheriff everything. Yeah, it's it's wildly different, and I'm
- 7:06Speaker 2: totally okay with that because this is my robin Hood.
- 7:11Speaker 2: And you know, again, I'm a little older than you,
- 7:13Speaker 2: three years or whatever, so I wasn't as scared. I
- 7:16Speaker 2: guess I was. I'm kind of more of the age
- 7:18Speaker 2: that should have been watching it, to be honest. But
- 7:21Speaker 2: I remember seeing the theaters and then we got the
- 7:23Speaker 2: VHS and when it came out, I washed the fucking
- 7:25Speaker 2: shit out of it. Man, Like these lines are happening.
- 7:29Speaker 2: I can hear a line and then I know the
- 7:30Speaker 2: song or the sound that's happening after you know.
- 7:32Speaker 4: What you're saying. It's pretty awesome. But that's the thing.
- 7:36Speaker 4: That song isn't actually it's in the movie, but it's
- 7:38Speaker 4: just the instrumental of it. It's not like the actual
- 7:41Speaker 4: Brian AM's song Yes, which would have been ridiculous in
- 7:44Speaker 4: that movie, wouldn't have fit, you know.
- 7:46Speaker 2: But when it plays in the credits, you're like, yes,
- 7:48Speaker 2: oh my.
- 7:49Speaker 4: God, yes, Fin. I don't know. I'm just like such
- 7:52Speaker 4: a mark for it. Even at first scene, like when
- 7:56Speaker 4: they're in Israel or whatever, Jerusalem, like I know what's
- 7:59Speaker 4: gonna happen. I've seen this movie seven times, but like
- 8:02Speaker 4: my heart was like kind of racing, like as they're
- 8:04Speaker 4: escaping and stuff like, it's oh, Man, I had.
- 8:07Speaker 3: No idea Morgan Freeman was in the movie.
- 8:09Speaker 4: Morgan Freeman fucking rules in this. Alan Ricklin fucking rules
- 8:14Speaker 4: in this as as a chef of Nottingham. He's so
- 8:16Speaker 4: fucking off. He's like such a good heel, like literally
- 8:20Speaker 4: like a great He kills his cousin with like no
- 8:22Speaker 4: remorse whatsoever, Like just an awesome bad guy. He does
- 8:26Speaker 4: such an awesome giant. I was kind of scared of
- 8:28Speaker 4: him too when I was a kid. Now i'm thinking
- 8:30Speaker 4: back on it.
- 8:31Speaker 3: Mark, you mentioned the VHS. I was doing some research
- 8:34Speaker 3: found out that this is one of the first movies
- 8:36Speaker 3: that went to like home video instead of just like
- 8:39Speaker 3: a blockbuster, and like rentals you could actually like because
- 8:42Speaker 3: there was a time you couldn't just like buy vhs.
- 8:44Speaker 3: It's like for affordable price.
- 8:46Speaker 2: Yeah, you know interesting, this is one.
- 8:48Speaker 3: Of those movies that went right to you know, consumers
- 8:51Speaker 3: as well as renting.
- 8:53Speaker 2: Yeah, we had a lot of taped vhs is off
- 8:56Speaker 2: the TV, you know, we'd tape off HBO or whatever.
- 8:58Speaker 2: This one was the one we actually owned.
- 9:00Speaker 4: I definitely blockbustered this like over and over, and then
- 9:04Speaker 4: then the the DVD craze with me and Broskin were
- 9:07Speaker 4: like in college. I for sure had like the deluxe
- 9:11Speaker 4: version of this.
- 9:12Speaker 2: I still have it. Yeah, yeah, I got rid of
- 9:14Speaker 2: all my DVD's.
- 9:15Speaker 4: It's the only one to call what I bet. I
- 9:17Speaker 4: still have it too, And I got rid of a
- 9:18Speaker 4: lot of stuff. But which I just I'm realizing I
- 9:20Speaker 4: just paid five dollars to watch this movie. But I
- 9:22Speaker 4: could have just opened it. God damn DVD book. I
- 9:24Speaker 4: have my closet behind me.
- 9:26Speaker 2: I would rather paid the five dollars right. Let me
- 9:31Speaker 2: tell you this funny story. So I love it. I've
- 9:35Speaker 2: I've talked about it forever. I've talked about it in
- 9:37Speaker 2: this podcast. It's become kind of a joke in the family,
- 9:40Speaker 2: right that I just really love Robinhood Prince of the
- 9:43Speaker 2: Eves with Kevin Costner, right, And I would always tell
- 9:46Speaker 2: Aaron like, you know, hey, I'm gonna my wife, I'm
- 9:48Speaker 2: gonna watch it. You want to watch it with me?
- 9:50Speaker 2: And you know she she'd be like, no, f and way,
- 9:52Speaker 2: I don't want to.
- 9:53Speaker 4: Yeah, I don't think lizard. Liz walked in on me
- 9:55Speaker 4: watching this and was like, what the fuck are you?
- 9:57Speaker 2: It's got a it's got a bad rap, right, So.
- 10:00Speaker 4: I don't like the worst rap, but.
- 10:04Speaker 2: Well, we'll talk about we'll talk about the yes, we'll
- 10:06Speaker 2: talk about the critic critical response at the minute. But
- 10:10Speaker 2: I just never could get it, and it became a joke.
- 10:11Speaker 2: I'd be like, hey, I'm gonna watch Robin Hood and
- 10:13Speaker 2: she's like, I'm not watching it, no fucking way. So
- 10:15Speaker 2: when I finally sat down to watch this, I'm like, hey,
- 10:17Speaker 2: I'm I'm watching this. I think you should give it
- 10:20Speaker 2: a shot. She said, Okay, I'm going to go to bed.
- 10:25Speaker 2: I'm not going to watch this, but I but I
- 10:27Speaker 2: will give it a shot. I will tell you motherfuckers.
- 10:31Speaker 2: She did not go to bed, watched with visions of
- 10:39Speaker 2: of Kevin Costner's ass.
- 10:44Speaker 3: Lines. That's first, nobody has tann lines back then, come
- 10:47Speaker 3: on and it's a body double. I read you get
- 10:51Speaker 3: a body double with tann lines.
- 10:53Speaker 4: Get wins off his butt.
- 10:54Speaker 3: Well, the water was too cold. I thought he would
- 10:57Speaker 3: get like hypothermia or something.
- 10:58Speaker 4: Oh it was Legit shot in England, all over the place.
- 11:03Speaker 2: And the weather was a problem. But anyway, she watched
- 11:05Speaker 2: the whole thing, loved it, like, didn't even like at
- 11:07Speaker 2: points I had to go to the bathroom, didn't want to,
- 11:09Speaker 2: wanted to see what happens.
- 11:10Speaker 4: Held it.
- 11:11Speaker 2: At the end of the movie, she was like, that
- 11:13Speaker 2: was really good and and she had seen it when
- 11:15Speaker 2: she was young but remembered nothing about it. So that's
- 11:19Speaker 2: why I kind of thought that Brosky would like it,
- 11:21Speaker 2: because I like.
- 11:21Speaker 4: It has everything, including a toy line that you would
- 11:25Speaker 4: want in a movie. It's a little bit of everything, romance, action.
- 11:28Speaker 3: I did it. Dislike it.
- 11:29Speaker 4: Your guy bad guy a very good like you know.
- 11:33Speaker 2: All right, let me let me tell you what I
- 11:35Speaker 2: wrote down here. I wrote a pros and cons list. Okay,
- 11:38Speaker 2: in my opinion of this film pros great cinematography. There's
- 11:45Speaker 2: like amazing show.
- 11:46Speaker 4: Everything is so cool. I love all those shots, like
- 11:48Speaker 4: that first shot where they find the kid and they
- 11:50Speaker 4: save them from out of the tree. Yes, that beautiful,
- 11:53Speaker 4: like the Countryside kind of like Countryside was awesome.
- 11:56Speaker 2: I got to get everything that I knew about the
- 11:59Speaker 2: world is real, UK. Everything I knew about the world
- 12:02Speaker 2: when I was a kid came from this fucking movie.
- 12:04Speaker 4: But here's something super kind of embarrassing. I was like
- 12:08Speaker 4: so jazzed f about this today. I looked up my
- 12:11Speaker 4: UK Impact Tour to see if we were going near
- 12:13Speaker 4: Nottingham so I could go to Sherwood Forest because it
- 12:15Speaker 4: is there and you can turn it out. Yeah, but
- 12:17Speaker 4: I'm not near it. And I'm also thinking how many
- 12:20Speaker 4: times of Roskin I've been to Nodding and I could
- 12:21Speaker 4: have done that and I did. I'm so mad.
- 12:24Speaker 2: Wow is cool? I know, all right, good practical effects.
- 12:27Speaker 2: I thought, like the fire and what.
- 12:30Speaker 3: That's one thing that I will say, they just don't
- 12:33Speaker 3: make movies like that, right.
- 12:34Speaker 4: There's not one fake thing in it.
- 12:35Speaker 3: It's all like that.
- 12:37Speaker 2: When those guys get thrown over a wall, you know
- 12:38Speaker 2: they're getting it's a human beings get thrown over.
- 12:42Speaker 3: You know, there's not there's no CGI people, there's no CGI.
- 12:45Speaker 3: Maybe there was. Someone's gonna say there's this is a
- 12:47Speaker 3: fucking effect.
- 12:48Speaker 4: Whatever, But I don't know.
- 12:49Speaker 3: Everything seemed and looked practical. Yes, yeah, the old school,
- 12:53Speaker 3: like just big monstrous sets. Yeah, like they don't make
- 12:58Speaker 3: movies like that anymore. I lie a pre shaded that.
- 13:01Speaker 2: Yes, I okay. Another pro. I thought the pacing of
- 13:04Speaker 2: the film was awesome. You get these like scenes where
- 13:08Speaker 2: she's talking to Maid Marion. You know, he's talking like
- 13:10Speaker 2: what are the glove scenes and all that shit, immediately
- 13:13Speaker 2: after they're in a fucking horse chase. Yeah, it's they
- 13:17Speaker 2: never stuck in like a context scene too long.
- 13:21Speaker 4: I felt like when I was a kid, there was
- 13:22Speaker 4: a lot of sheriff scenes. Yeah, but now that I'm older,
- 13:27Speaker 4: I realize that you need them and they all serve
- 13:29Speaker 4: a purpose, right, Yes, it's not like they're going back
- 13:31Speaker 4: to this boring bad guy for no reason, like you know, yes,
- 13:33Speaker 4: and it's actually what he's sayings pretty entertaining if you
- 13:35Speaker 4: listen to them or whatever.
- 13:36Speaker 2: Your best lines.
- 13:37Speaker 4: The fucking shit he's going nuts about.
- 13:39Speaker 2: Yeah, best lines actually a little tidbit here. In twenty fifteen,
- 13:44Speaker 2: Alan Rickman admitted that he secretly asked his scriptwriter friends
- 13:48Speaker 2: to punch up the script. He said, will you have
- 13:50Speaker 2: a look at the script because it's terrible and I
- 13:52Speaker 2: need some good lines, And then the director added all
- 13:55Speaker 2: their new lines, so like, you know, he's got those
- 13:58Speaker 2: with a spoon, dude, so good as probably from his
- 14:02Speaker 2: friends who were like made his lines better. But I
- 14:04Speaker 2: thought the pacing of the film was was just awesome.
- 14:08Speaker 2: Great soundtrack. We talked about that awesome ancillary characters, Friar, Tuck, Azeem,
- 14:15Speaker 2: the great One, will Scarlet, little John. You love them all.
- 14:20Speaker 3: Yeah, Fanny, a lot of a lot of characters. Where
- 14:23Speaker 3: before I went on eBay to actually see like what
- 14:27Speaker 3: was made, I'm thinking, oh, this guy should be a fake,
- 14:29Speaker 3: this guy should be a fig. You know there's yeah,
- 14:31Speaker 3: and of course spoiler, the girl doesn't have a fig.
- 14:35Speaker 4: Definitely a big miss that make it a mame area,
- 14:37Speaker 4: But that's that early nineties women don't sell thing, you.
- 14:42Speaker 2: Know, especially her in that ninja outfit when she beat
- 14:44Speaker 2: up Robin Hood in the beginning of the movie. Cool,
- 14:47Speaker 2: but yeah, the side characters are so great, almost almost
- 14:51Speaker 2: I would argue better than Robin Hood was kind of wooden.
- 14:55Speaker 2: But but we'll talk about that in the concept. And
- 14:57Speaker 2: then I thought it was like a fant to see,
- 15:00Speaker 2: like retelling of an old story. And then I said,
- 15:02Speaker 2: this earlier Tolkien esque, it's very like Lord of the
- 15:06Speaker 2: Rings type of you get this group of characters and
- 15:09Speaker 2: this awesome team together and they have to fight the evil.
- 15:12Speaker 2: It's I just.
- 15:14Speaker 4: Said, insurmountable odds that they overcome.
- 15:17Speaker 2: Yes, So that's my pros cons. We got to talk
- 15:22Speaker 2: about the bad accents.
- 15:24Speaker 3: So I thought about the rape scene at the end.
- 15:27Speaker 3: The rape scene's wild. That was actually a wild.
- 15:30Speaker 4: Thing to to wreath see through adult eyes.
- 15:34Speaker 2: I think as a kid, I didn't even know it
- 15:35Speaker 2: was happy. Even he's trying to kiss.
- 15:37Speaker 4: Right see this head right here. It was I didn't
- 15:40Speaker 4: even notice. I didn't even think of that. He was
- 15:42Speaker 4: trying to have sex with her, like, yeah she looked
- 15:44Speaker 4: a second, Yeah she looks pretty. He's trying to tie
- 15:47Speaker 4: her down or something. Clearly.
- 15:48Speaker 2: Yeah, I had no idea either. Yeah, but now it's like.
- 15:51Speaker 3: Spreads her legs, yeah, little heads.
- 15:55Speaker 4: Yeah, there's toys of this. It's true, there's a rape scene.
- 16:01Speaker 2: Let's make toys of it, but the accents.
- 16:04Speaker 4: So that's that's like the number one knock on this movie.
- 16:07Speaker 4: But apparently Kevin Costner tried, he was doing it, but
- 16:11Speaker 4: they had already been filming, so the director just said,
- 16:14Speaker 4: fuck it, just stop doing it. So that's why in
- 16:17Speaker 4: the it's he's like in and out of it throughout
- 16:19Speaker 4: the movie, because it's depending on what they shot and
- 16:21Speaker 4: what order.
- 16:22Speaker 3: Yep, I didn't realize it was in and out of it.
- 16:25Speaker 2: But it's even when he's in it's bad trying. Yeah,
- 16:29Speaker 2: it's he'll just do like a weird end of the
- 16:33Speaker 2: last word of the sentence is like.
- 16:35Speaker 4: But I also think if you are an Englishman you're
- 16:37Speaker 4: probably going good lord. I think if you're just an
- 16:40Speaker 4: idiot America, you're not even gonna barely notice, Like Matt,
- 16:43Speaker 4: you know.
- 16:44Speaker 3: Con Mark one. That really bothered me. I wish they
- 16:47Speaker 3: would have included just one little scene of him like
- 16:50Speaker 3: shaving his face with the fucking like bow and arrow,
- 16:53Speaker 3: like so we could see, all right, why is it
- 16:55Speaker 3: so clean shaven? Give me a little fucking I was
- 16:57Speaker 3: a little b roll of something, a little bit the
- 16:59Speaker 3: fuck an arrow, just shaving down, just.
- 17:01Speaker 4: Something how to make did you and uh you and
- 17:05Speaker 4: Big keV go to like Columbia to get your hair
- 17:08Speaker 4: done together? Because brother was pretty receding in this and
- 17:11Speaker 4: he like doesn't look like that like in late nineties movies.
- 17:15Speaker 4: So something went down and I was thinking, I think turkey,
- 17:19Speaker 4: and now I have Turkey. Costner headed the turkey together.
- 17:28Speaker 4: Oh you heard it here first, folks.
- 17:30Speaker 2: Yeah, he was looking a little look. I love Kevin Costner.
- 17:32Speaker 2: He might be my favorite actor of all.
- 17:34Speaker 4: Kevin cost is my favorite actor of all time.
- 17:36Speaker 3: You know, Zobi another cond This guy he knows he's
- 17:40Speaker 3: gonna be shirtless. He couldn't fucking work out a little bit.
- 17:42Speaker 3: He's fucking no pecks, right, I think a regular ass dude,
- 17:48Speaker 3: That's what I'm saying. Okay, Jesus Christ, Fucking Hugh Jackman
- 17:53Speaker 3: when he's a good be wolverine fucking pumps that iron.
- 17:55Speaker 2: Yeah, lift of weight, bro.
- 17:56Speaker 4: I guess Robinhood shouldn't be if I I'm like puny,
- 18:01Speaker 4: but not.
- 18:02Speaker 3: The shirtless Jesus Christ.
- 18:05Speaker 2: After the ass scene, they show him real briefs, like
- 18:09Speaker 2: it's belly up and he's pale.
- 18:13Speaker 4: He puts on like a gangrel's shirt, like real guy you.
- 18:20Speaker 3: It's Austin Powers.
- 18:25Speaker 2: I was so mad when when when, actually when that
- 18:29Speaker 2: most recent Robin Hood came out with with the three
- 18:31Speaker 2: hundred guy?
- 18:32Speaker 4: What's it?
- 18:33Speaker 1: Uh?
- 18:34Speaker 4: By the way, you type in Robin Hood to find
- 18:37Speaker 4: this movie? Good lord, there's a lot of Robin Hoods.
- 18:39Speaker 2: Yes, Who's who's the Russell Crowe? Russell CRUs played Robin Hood.
- 18:44Speaker 2: He just didn't lose weight. He was gigantic, And I'm like,
- 18:47Speaker 2: you can't lose a couple of pounds for Robin Hood.
- 18:50Speaker 2: Like but yeah, I know, I.
- 18:52Speaker 4: Totally Robin Hood. Yeah, like a Finn Balor Is that
- 18:55Speaker 4: what you want? Like, yes, like a real lean boy.
- 18:58Speaker 2: Yeah. But anyways, yeah, I'm with you, Broski there.
- 19:02Speaker 4: On that Gavn Gossler's hairline came back from the dead.
- 19:04Speaker 4: That's all I'm saying. Yes, good for him because he's
- 19:07Speaker 4: a full out of hair right now. He's seventy so.
- 19:10Speaker 2: Looks great.
- 19:10Speaker 4: And uh, that was another I saw in one of
- 19:13Speaker 4: the videos I watched where they were like everyone's like, oh,
- 19:15Speaker 4: the the young Boys returned to Man or whatever, but
- 19:18Speaker 4: he's like thirty seven. He's like all right when he
- 19:21Speaker 4: shot this, so like, if you minus the six years
- 19:24Speaker 4: his way. He was like he was thirty thirty one,
- 19:26Speaker 4: Like how is he you? Guys don't recognize him? Like
- 19:29Speaker 4: it wasn't like a teenager and he came back. You know.
- 19:31Speaker 2: So there's a part of this. I was thinking about
- 19:34Speaker 2: this actually while I was watching it, Like, nowadays that
- 19:38Speaker 2: role goes to somebody extremely young. Yeah, yeah, like almost
- 19:42Speaker 2: maybe unbelievably young and small, right, like that's just how
- 19:46Speaker 2: things go. I kind of did like that he was
- 19:49Speaker 2: a grizzled looking dude, you know.
- 19:51Speaker 4: I did too. And well, also think about the the
- 19:55Speaker 4: star power in this movie, Morgan Freeman, Alan Rickman, Yeah,
- 19:58Speaker 4: Christian Slater, who people don' I mean younger listeners probably
- 20:01Speaker 4: realized what a big fucking star he was in the
- 20:03Speaker 4: early nineties, Like yeah, he's probably like, yeah, he might
- 20:06Speaker 4: borline be the biggest start at the moment this comes out, right, maybe.
- 20:10Speaker 3: What what happened to Christians?
- 20:11Speaker 4: Later? A great question? That's a lie.
- 20:15Speaker 2: I'm gonna write that in right now. What has happened?
- 20:17Speaker 4: He's alive, he's fifty something. I looked it up today.
- 20:20Speaker 2: What happened to Christians?
- 20:21Speaker 4: Crazy?
- 20:23Speaker 3: Uh?
- 20:25Speaker 2: Oh rehab, I'm seeing that first line? Okay, done, rehab
- 20:29Speaker 2: a few times, so that's what happened. Uh. And then
- 20:34Speaker 2: the last thing I have on my pros mycon's list
- 20:37Speaker 2: is no little corny in a couple of scenes like, uh,
- 20:44Speaker 2: me and my wife laughed our asses off. When he
- 20:47Speaker 2: delivers the baby, It's like he does everything, including delivering
- 20:53Speaker 2: a baby.
- 20:53Speaker 4: As a child, I saw that. It's so courageous. And
- 20:56Speaker 4: then as an adult, I'm thinking, like I've seen this twice, Poule,
- 20:59Speaker 4: this is not how this happens, you know, like, oh,
- 21:03Speaker 4: he smokes and then the I mean there's a couple
- 21:06Speaker 4: of times the kid is like in the woman's arms,
- 21:09Speaker 4: but you kind of really never see it again. I'm like,
- 21:11Speaker 4: there's a week old baby around this war or whatever
- 21:15Speaker 4: that's going on here. It's kind of, yes, bizarre, but whatever.
- 21:18Speaker 2: But I mean a team does all the work, right
- 21:20Speaker 2: he was it a C section? Yeah, sea section gets
- 21:26Speaker 2: the baby out, and there's Kevin.
- 21:28Speaker 4: By the way, that lady is back a week later,
- 21:31Speaker 4: like fighting the main scene to tough Son of a Bitch.
- 21:38Speaker 2: Fani, She's awesome.
- 21:39Speaker 4: Yeah, holy shit.
- 21:40Speaker 2: Anyways, that's that's my that is my cons. But but uh,
- 21:45Speaker 2: that accent thing, and I actually I think that Kevin
- 21:48Speaker 2: Costner is a very good actor. If you watch, if
- 21:52Speaker 2: you watch Dances with Wolves, unbelievable performance, right, awesome. I
- 21:57Speaker 2: think that the accent, ship and whatever he was trying
- 22:00Speaker 2: to do with this role made the character a little wooden,
- 22:04Speaker 2: and that I think is the big criticism with all.
- 22:07Speaker 4: The critics, it was clearly uncomfortable with that particular situation
- 22:13Speaker 4: of yes, the character, but yes, I, like Brosslie said,
- 22:17Speaker 4: I literally see this through nostalgic goggles and I don't
- 22:20Speaker 4: have a British accent, So I'm not like critiquing it
- 22:23Speaker 4: or thinking that that it doesn't And I know what
- 22:25Speaker 4: Kevin Costa is. I've seen him in twenty five movies
- 22:27Speaker 4: that like, I'm not expecting him to have an accent too.
- 22:30Speaker 4: I could give you know, So I don't know.
- 22:32Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, I don't care. The film received mixed reviews
- 22:36Speaker 2: from critics, who praised Freeman and Rickman's performances and the score,
- 22:39Speaker 2: but criticized costumes, performance, the screens, play, an overall execution
- 22:43Speaker 2: which I think is unfair. But budget forty eight million,
- 22:47Speaker 2: which actually astounded me. That's not much for what we
- 22:51Speaker 2: saw with the press stuff.
- 22:52Speaker 4: I feel like that's a lot in ninety one.
- 22:54Speaker 2: Though, maybe, but box office three hundred and ninety point
- 22:57Speaker 2: five million, a massive zip success was so cool, but
- 23:04Speaker 2: not remembered. Finally, you know, So there's a podcast that
- 23:09Speaker 2: I listen to that does this. It's Bill Simmons does
- 23:12Speaker 2: a podcast called Rewatchables, and they've basically done every movie
- 23:15Speaker 2: from that period, and they refuse to do Robin Hood.
- 23:18Speaker 2: And I'm like, what, I don't know. It's some people.
- 23:23Speaker 2: I don't know. I don't know. It's looked back by
- 23:26Speaker 2: a lot of people as like a negative thing. Even
- 23:28Speaker 2: my wife made a joke about it for years.
- 23:31Speaker 4: I'm Kevin, I don't see it. I mean, I get,
- 23:35Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 23:37Speaker 2: I thought it was a phenomenal movie.
- 23:38Speaker 4: It's it's such a perfect movie to me, Like it's
- 23:40Speaker 4: got a little bit of everything, even the cheesiness. First
- 23:45Speaker 4: of there's like two ball shots, like back to back
- 23:49Speaker 4: because Marion ball shots and then he ball shots Little John.
- 23:53Speaker 4: You fight like literally as it's a Brosky Batch literally
- 23:56Speaker 4: on on the big screen.
- 23:58Speaker 2: That fight was great. The fight and the river.
- 24:00Speaker 4: Yeah, that's one of the scenes that I remember. I
- 24:03Speaker 4: remember vividly as a child too. That's something that like
- 24:06Speaker 4: I don't know, really stood out to me.
- 24:07Speaker 2: Beautiful cinematography on that river.
- 24:09Speaker 4: Too, same, yeah, yeah.
- 24:12Speaker 2: Just the thing that got me the most is the pacing.
- 24:15Speaker 2: It's just you never settled in for like a long boring.
- 24:19Speaker 4: Thing, what two hours and twenty minutes, and it doesn't
- 24:22Speaker 4: feel like that.
- 24:23Speaker 2: Yeah, it's it's great. Uh all right, well, toys, So
- 24:29Speaker 2: there's two tie in video games called Robin Prince of
- 24:31Speaker 2: Thieves released in nineteen ninety one for Nintendo and game Boy.
- 24:36Speaker 2: I don't remember these games at all.
- 24:37Speaker 4: I remember renting that game and it's dreadful and it
- 24:40Speaker 4: looked it up, but it's it's like absolutely rotten.
- 24:47Speaker 2: I think that I've mentioned this before. I think there's
- 24:49Speaker 2: an Yes, there's an angry video game Nerd episode of
- 24:53Speaker 2: the Robin Hood video game. It's it's like it's got
- 24:56Speaker 2: Kevin Costner on the box, but it has nothing effin
- 24:59Speaker 2: to do with you know what I'm saying the movie.
- 25:02Speaker 4: For a second, I thought it was like a hook
- 25:04Speaker 4: situation where there was like likeness issues. But on the
- 25:06Speaker 4: packaging of the toys there's full blown photos of the characters.
- 25:09Speaker 4: So yes, that doesn't make any sense. But yeah, on
- 25:12Speaker 4: the packaging of the video game. It's just the shadow
- 25:15Speaker 4: of the of him with the bow. And then oh yeah,
- 25:19Speaker 4: all the graphics are not even closed like he has
- 25:22Speaker 4: like a Robin Wood has a mustache in the graphics.
- 25:25Speaker 2: Right, yeah, I had. It's I'm pretty sure that they
- 25:27Speaker 2: said before that it was like made as a elf
- 25:30Speaker 2: video game type of deal, and then they're like, oh,
- 25:32Speaker 2: let's make it Robin Hood.
- 25:33Speaker 4: But it makes a lot more sense, Kevin.
- 25:37Speaker 2: All right, so the figures I'm gonna I'm gonna present
- 25:40Speaker 2: the screen.
- 25:43Speaker 3: I was just checking. There was no like McDonald's or
- 25:45Speaker 3: Burger King crossover, was there?
- 25:47Speaker 2: Not that I remember, not that I recall. Okay, so
- 25:51Speaker 2: I'm on figure realm dot com right here, and if
- 25:54Speaker 2: you're watching the video version of this podcast, guys, it's
- 25:57Speaker 2: on the screen right now.
- 25:59Speaker 3: Mark that the freedom included.
- 26:01Speaker 2: I have I took, the Yes, I have I have
- 26:05Speaker 2: that weekend.
- 26:05Speaker 3: They're all pretty much like, okay, use of other toy parts,
- 26:09Speaker 3: Well yeah, I can show that in as.
- 26:11Speaker 4: The entire line in some capacity has reused shit going on.
- 26:16Speaker 2: All right, well, let me show you that then first, which.
- 26:19Speaker 4: I didn't know when I was a kid. And I
- 26:21Speaker 4: love these figures so.
- 26:23Speaker 2: Well, Hold on a second. Let's let's talk about the
- 26:26Speaker 2: figures themselves first.
- 26:28Speaker 3: I think, and like I said, I didn't love the movie,
- 26:31Speaker 3: but I think the toys are a pretty damn good
- 26:34Speaker 3: representation if you were a kid and you saw this
- 26:37Speaker 3: movie and you wanted to recreate this movie, I think
- 26:40Speaker 3: these toys pretty much nail it.
- 26:42Speaker 2: So you get the battle Wagon, which I bought, you know,
- 26:46Speaker 2: in a very famous vlog. I think it's got two
- 26:49Speaker 2: hundred thousand views of ours, Brian. Do you remember I
- 26:51Speaker 2: bought that at the Long Island with you.
- 26:53Speaker 4: Yes?
- 26:54Speaker 3: Yeah, wasn't there like mouse poop in it?
- 26:56Speaker 2: There was? There was mouse issues with that box, Yes,
- 27:00Speaker 2: I had. So I had that as a kid net launcher,
- 27:03Speaker 2: which I've been looking for one in box.
- 27:05Speaker 4: So the net launcher is the only one I had
- 27:09Speaker 4: as a kid. As a vehicle as a vehicle, yes.
- 27:13Speaker 2: Bowl of Bomber, and then the Sherwood Forest place at
- 27:16Speaker 2: which I never had, which is famously a remake. Will
- 27:18Speaker 2: show you that in a second of the Ewok Village.
- 27:21Speaker 2: And then as far as the figures go, perfect group
- 27:25Speaker 2: A Zeem comes with a sword shimitar Dark Warrior, which
- 27:29Speaker 2: is like the Celtic warrior guy, the bad guy.
- 27:33Speaker 4: Just a generic bad guy, right, Yeah, but nobody in
- 27:36Speaker 4: the whole movie has a helmet like that, so it's
- 27:38Speaker 4: kind of brutal.
- 27:40Speaker 2: I played with him like he was the stormtrooper, No,
- 27:44Speaker 2: the leader of the of those Celtic guys at the
- 27:46Speaker 2: end that attack.
- 27:47Speaker 4: But he's not because in the they were supposed to
- 27:50Speaker 4: be a wave too. They make that guy right, Yeah,
- 27:52Speaker 4: and then I saw that. I always saw this guy
- 27:56Speaker 4: as like a storm trooper, like you should buy ten
- 27:58Speaker 4: of them, like a planned guy.
- 27:59Speaker 2: Yeah, because that was actually one of my problems as
- 28:02Speaker 2: a kid. You have all these good guys, there's only
- 28:05Speaker 2: two bad guys. Yeah, so it's like bad guys can't
- 28:08Speaker 2: be out numbered.
- 28:08Speaker 4: Little John's gonna turn heel for a big storyline.
- 28:11Speaker 2: Yeah, Friar Tuck, who's a great character. I love that
- 28:14Speaker 2: he loves beer, so cool. Little John comes with a
- 28:19Speaker 2: big fucking stick that he can hit you with. Robin
- 28:21Speaker 2: Hood with a crossbow that wasn't the one I loved.
- 28:24Speaker 2: I loved the Robin Hood with a long bow because
- 28:27Speaker 2: that motherfucking long bow guys had a string and you
- 28:30Speaker 2: could literally shoot the arrows. You pull the string and
- 28:36Speaker 2: it shoots the arrows. The arrows had a little hook.
- 28:38Speaker 2: There's three of them. They go in his quiver and
- 28:42Speaker 2: you could shoot it. It was awesome Will Scarlett with
- 28:45Speaker 2: the crossbow and Sheriff of noting him with a big
- 28:49Speaker 2: sword and he had that m That necklace.
- 28:55Speaker 4: They re used on two Face from Batman, the animated series.
- 29:00Speaker 4: If anyone remembers that it because I.
- 29:01Speaker 2: Had really I did not know that. But the necklace
- 29:04Speaker 2: was so cool because it was an actual necklace and
- 29:06Speaker 2: I would always lose it.
- 29:07Speaker 4: But then literally like something that would be like a
- 29:09Speaker 4: heels that faces figure like.
- 29:13Speaker 3: Absolutely, that's eight eight figures two Robin Hood's two heels
- 29:18Speaker 3: and then uh four babies. Like I said, I think
- 29:21Speaker 3: they're missing the girl's only big miss, the big mess.
- 29:26Speaker 4: Yeah, only big mess.
- 29:28Speaker 2: Yeah. So and then and then the other thing we
- 29:31Speaker 2: could mention there there is two versions of Robin Wood
- 29:35Speaker 2: that come out that looked nothing like Kevin Costner and
- 29:38Speaker 2: then they face.
- 29:40Speaker 4: Yeah, there was like a running change.
- 29:42Speaker 2: And then they remake it and then it's blatantly looks
- 29:45Speaker 2: like oh wow, Kevin Costner. So I have all four
- 29:48Speaker 2: of those, both of them have that stupid face. And
- 29:52Speaker 2: then the new Kevin cost Face.
- 29:54Speaker 4: So as a kid, Mark, what did you have.
- 29:57Speaker 2: The whole set?
- 29:59Speaker 4: Really? Yeah?
- 30:00Speaker 2: You were in bal I love this movie. Yeah, but
- 30:03Speaker 2: you know these things were on if you you probably
- 30:06Speaker 2: don't remember this, but these things were on clearance like
- 30:11Speaker 2: three for ten KB, so there's not that many.
- 30:15Speaker 4: Like years later though, like Len, it wasn't popular because
- 30:17Speaker 4: I only liked this movie like when it was.
- 30:19Speaker 2: Out ninety two ninety three. Probably yeah, I mean that's
- 30:23Speaker 2: at some point in my life. I don't know if
- 30:25Speaker 2: I had them instantly, but I did own like I
- 30:27Speaker 2: had them, like.
- 30:29Speaker 4: Like the movies and theaters. I'm getting these guys.
- 30:32Speaker 2: Like, yeah, I don't know. I probably had a couple,
- 30:34Speaker 2: but I know it's at whatever point I did have
- 30:36Speaker 2: them all and including the whatever. But the soft goods
- 30:42Speaker 2: on these I thought were great as a kid.
- 30:43Speaker 3: Soft goods it really adds to it.
- 30:45Speaker 2: Because you take it off soft goods, it's.
- 30:49Speaker 4: The soft goods are covering up all these parts and
- 30:52Speaker 4: some of them are like some of them are wild.
- 30:54Speaker 2: Like I'll show you I was Okay, let me show
- 30:55Speaker 2: you that picture right here.
- 30:58Speaker 4: So as a kid, I had the net launch sure
- 31:00Speaker 4: for sure, and I had everyone except I could never
- 31:03Speaker 4: find Will Scarlett, which I literally was looking at one
- 31:06Speaker 4: today and even thinking like, man, I never had this
- 31:07Speaker 4: figures not to get it as an adult, and I
- 31:10Speaker 4: never had. I couldn't find Will Scarlett. I couldn't find
- 31:11Speaker 4: Friar Tuck.
- 31:14Speaker 2: The harder ones to get. Friar Tuck is one of
- 31:16Speaker 2: the harder. But I you know when I recently bought
- 31:18Speaker 2: these all on card, the entire set for seventy bucks.
- 31:21Speaker 4: Yeah, they're like they're on eBay for like fifteen bucks
- 31:25Speaker 4: a pop ship.
- 31:26Speaker 2: And everybody, if you're looking at this now, it's it's
- 31:29Speaker 2: it's the picture is very.
- 31:31Speaker 4: Set there and then vehicles and stuff.
- 31:35Speaker 2: Robinhood longbow. Robin Hood is the exact body as the
- 31:38Speaker 2: green arrow from DC.
- 31:40Speaker 4: So he has a G on his belt, which as
- 31:44Speaker 4: a kid I never understood, like or never, I don't know,
- 31:48Speaker 4: but that's what it means because it's green arrow.
- 31:51Speaker 2: And both Oh right there, Brosky, do you see that
- 31:53Speaker 2: Robin Hood head.
- 31:54Speaker 4: That's the other head.
- 31:55Speaker 2: That's the other head. It's just not you know.
- 31:58Speaker 4: And what's very funny about this picture. My crossbow Robin
- 32:02Speaker 4: Hood had the ugly head, and then my long bow
- 32:06Speaker 4: Robin had had the real head when I was a kid.
- 32:11Speaker 2: Uh, the little John figure is pieces of Batman and
- 32:15Speaker 2: uh who is that? Whoever that wings?
- 32:19Speaker 4: I forgot that guy's name Hawkman?
- 32:24Speaker 2: And then also the Dark Warriors used the same body
- 32:27Speaker 2: piece as Hawkman. Uh crazy Azeem is the flash body
- 32:35Speaker 2: and then green arrow arms.
- 32:37Speaker 4: Always like, why does the zeame of a neon orange belt?
- 32:39Speaker 4: I always thought that was a kid, but.
- 32:41Speaker 2: He was under that so much cloth. Sopha Goods, this
- 32:44Speaker 2: is wild. The Sheriff of Nottingham is whoever this guy.
- 32:50Speaker 4: Is that.
- 32:52Speaker 2: Kenner's RoboCop chainsaw figure. Kenner's RoboCop Chainsaw.
- 32:58Speaker 4: Even his face isn't new which mind blank because it
- 33:01Speaker 4: doesn't to be fair. It has Alan rickman ish look
- 33:05Speaker 4: to it, but the hair is not. It's like bizarre
- 33:08Speaker 4: true so.
- 33:08Speaker 3: Wait, hold on the face is used from somebody else.
- 33:12Speaker 3: It sounds like a Jeff jarreted owen Hart is doing
- 33:14Speaker 3: one hundred the exact same thing.
- 33:15Speaker 2: Yes, an important DNA source was almost overlooked this figure.
- 33:19Speaker 2: It was not until I read doctor Poe Ghostly's dissertation
- 33:22Speaker 2: that I knew the head sculpt was lifted from Kenner's
- 33:24Speaker 2: robo cup chainsaw figure. Beyond that the Sheriff re purposes
- 33:27Speaker 2: superpowers lex Luthor Torso and legs with the typical resculpting
- 33:31Speaker 2: of the boots. His arms are the same modification of
- 33:33Speaker 2: the superpowers green Arrow. Wow, Will Scarlett is Robin. Oh,
- 33:41Speaker 2: this is hilarious. Friar Tuck is the same body guard guard.
- 33:47Speaker 4: You didn't know that.
- 33:49Speaker 3: I knew that today, but I didn't.
- 33:51Speaker 2: But you don't see it when it's under this.
- 33:55Speaker 4: So they just got Unlike our good good friends Steve
- 34:00Speaker 4: Rosenthal over at power Town, Kenner was not cutting steel
- 34:05Speaker 4: for no Robin Princess Thieves figures. They did quite the opposite.
- 34:11Speaker 3: They were sewing cloth with even some body parts.
- 34:15Speaker 2: The famous is uh the Ewok Village and the Sherwood
- 34:20Speaker 2: Forest play set.
- 34:22Speaker 4: I was the only one. I feel like my brother
- 34:25Speaker 4: said that to me when I was a kid, and
- 34:26Speaker 4: like I knew that everything else, No, you gotta be
- 34:30Speaker 4: like a toy expert slash nerd to figure that out,
- 34:34Speaker 4: especially in the nineties, I feel.
- 34:35Speaker 2: Like, right, yeah, the net launcher and the Bola uh sorry,
- 34:42Speaker 2: the the there was an Ewok battle wagon and the
- 34:45Speaker 2: Bowler launcher that you put together and you get the
- 34:48Speaker 2: battle wagon. That's that's the same.
- 34:52Speaker 3: Stuff too, So who was unreleased?
- 34:55Speaker 2: Okay, so I have those pictures too.
- 34:57Speaker 4: This is a really nice, like clear picture too. I
- 34:59Speaker 4: saw this.
- 35:00Speaker 2: Okay, first of all, I didn't know they had this.
- 35:02Speaker 2: I would have gotten these, they had no hold on.
- 35:05Speaker 2: That's not it RP things here, Robino, These bow and
- 35:09Speaker 2: arrows place the unreleased or didn't come out that that
- 35:12Speaker 2: was released.
- 35:13Speaker 3: Really like the arrow Yeah, it's pretty cool.
- 35:17Speaker 2: Okay, the bow and arrow thing was released, and then
- 35:20Speaker 2: uh there was I guess one other thing, but I
- 35:21Speaker 2: don't maybe I didn't grab it. Uh.
- 35:24Speaker 4: There's a really cool commercial by the way of these figures. Yeah. Yeah,
- 35:30Speaker 4: it's like Hasbro esque, like old school early nineties stoves.
- 35:34Speaker 2: Those toy figures showing those kids play with toys. Man
- 35:37Speaker 2: always always got me. So this rotary spear launcher was
- 35:40Speaker 2: not released, But what.
- 35:42Speaker 3: About and those figures are the exact same figures?
- 35:45Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, that's those are the same. Yeah, we've got
- 35:50Speaker 2: combat Robin Hood here he comes with a sword and
- 35:53Speaker 2: like a fucking spiky bat thing. Okay, unreleased Celtic barb
- 36:00Speaker 2: which is like spot on from the bad Guy in
- 36:03Speaker 2: the movie, which is really cool looking. I would have
- 36:06Speaker 2: killed to have that battle laseem, which looks way cooler,
- 36:12Speaker 2: so cooler crazy.
- 36:14Speaker 4: Goddamn uh you know uh iconic that he used binocular.
- 36:19Speaker 2: Binocular thing King Richard Sean Connery gets a fig here
- 36:27Speaker 2: one second in the movie.
- 36:28Speaker 4: I totally forgot about that till I saw that today too.
- 36:32Speaker 2: It reminds me like a Saturday Night Live skit where
- 36:34Speaker 2: like the star comes in and everybody's like, whoa it was?
- 36:38Speaker 4: That's up there for one of the cheesiest scenes too,
- 36:40Speaker 4: because like he's like, oh, hey, thanks for saving the
- 36:43Speaker 4: country from me while I was gone, like all non right,
- 36:47Speaker 4: like nothing happened, Like he's way too relaxed about that.
- 36:52Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 36:52Speaker 2: But then it goes into the Bryan Adams songs who
- 36:54Speaker 2: cares I guess, and then the last one Flaming Arrow
- 36:57Speaker 2: Robin Hood, which is.
- 36:59Speaker 4: That's what been cool.
- 37:00Speaker 3: That's one that I think should have come out. So
- 37:02Speaker 3: I wonder like why these all didn't come out with
- 37:05Speaker 3: like the movie out of theaters, and like they're.
- 37:08Speaker 4: The same as a cook wave too, like the craze
- 37:11Speaker 4: comes and goes how do you keep pumping out products?
- 37:13Speaker 2: And like I said, I remember them being on the
- 37:15Speaker 2: shelves for cheap as fuck, So they didn't sell that
- 37:17Speaker 2: great or at least they ordered too many of them
- 37:20Speaker 2: or whatever.
- 37:22Speaker 4: You know.
- 37:22Speaker 3: I think it's a great toy line. I think the
- 37:24Speaker 3: toy line is perfect for the movie.
- 37:26Speaker 2: Yeah, I miss stuff.
- 37:28Speaker 4: Like this fucking pure profit for Kenner because of the
- 37:31Speaker 4: effort that went into that or lack thereof.
- 37:33Speaker 2: Oh my god, I know. Oh the soft goods probably
- 37:36Speaker 2: difficult to make though. I mean those are like pretty detailed. Honestly,
- 37:40Speaker 2: if you look at these figures, the intricate detail of
- 37:43Speaker 2: like Robin Hood's fucking cloak or whatever. Best thing.
- 37:46Speaker 4: I'm trying to buy long Bow Robin Hood. I'm trying
- 37:48Speaker 4: to grab them in on card one for cheap too.
- 37:51Speaker 4: I almost bought Will Scarlett today. I almost bought Azeem
- 37:54Speaker 4: just oh I don't need them all. I just I'll
- 37:57Speaker 4: add Longbo Robin Hood to my my new shelf and
- 37:59Speaker 4: the GM of these movies that I review and I
- 38:02Speaker 4: mark out for.
- 38:03Speaker 2: I love it.
- 38:04Speaker 3: Maybe I didn't love it as much as because I
- 38:06Speaker 3: was watching it on a fucking phone. Maybe if I
- 38:08Speaker 3: was watching it at home on my couch on a
- 38:10Speaker 3: big screen, it would have been I don't have iPad,
- 38:13Speaker 3: I don't do iPads, or you don't weird computer if
- 38:17Speaker 3: you try it?
- 38:17Speaker 4: Or is it?
- 38:19Speaker 2: I never watch a movie? Wait, how did you watch it?
- 38:21Speaker 2: You watched it on your phone?
- 38:22Speaker 3: You said on my phone?
- 38:23Speaker 4: I always watched the party foul. I'm gonna call party
- 38:25Speaker 4: foul on that.
- 38:27Speaker 3: Does anyone have iPads these days? For my kids?
- 38:29Speaker 4: I literally travel my iPad every week and I watched them.
- 38:32Speaker 3: Mary have iPads these days, to be honest, not that
- 38:36Speaker 3: I know of.
- 38:36Speaker 2: On the planet. I don't really see it. I don't.
- 38:39Speaker 2: I use my phone and I bring my laptop. But
- 38:41Speaker 2: I bring my laptop for work.
- 38:42Speaker 4: Yeah, me too. I bring my iPad. I read on
- 38:45Speaker 4: it and I watch stuff on it.
- 38:47Speaker 2: I don't think that's weird.
- 38:48Speaker 3: I think that sounds weird. I just don't think it's common.
- 38:51Speaker 2: If I didn't bring my computer with me everywhere, I'd
- 38:53Speaker 2: probably bring up iPad.
- 38:54Speaker 4: I have a brand new one.
- 38:56Speaker 2: Yeah, my wife has a brand of one too.
- 38:58Speaker 4: I had to get my kids my old one because
- 38:59Speaker 4: they just basically stole it from me.
- 39:01Speaker 3: Wow, somebody Thie, even.
- 39:03Speaker 4: Somebody Steve and Princess.
- 39:06Speaker 2: That's that's I got nothing else. I wrote a lot
- 39:08Speaker 2: of notes, you know what.
- 39:09Speaker 4: I did want to address uh robinhood Men and Tights.
- 39:14Speaker 4: This movie was so popular they made a fucking spoof
- 39:17Speaker 4: of it.
- 39:18Speaker 3: So is it is the spoof of this particular movie.
- 39:21Speaker 2: There's parts of it that are from this, but there's
- 39:23Speaker 2: also parts of this that are making fun of a
- 39:26Speaker 2: ton of different rounds.
- 39:26Speaker 3: So I read that the guy who is in uh
- 39:30Speaker 3: Men and Tights was originally going to be in this one.
- 39:37Speaker 4: That's dude from Princess Bride.
- 39:40Speaker 3: Yeah, I heard he was originally offered the role.
- 39:43Speaker 4: There's no way. Uh Well, the thing I saw said
- 39:46Speaker 4: that the chick from Princess Bride, you know, Jenny even
- 39:49Speaker 4: Forrest Gump, was supposed to be made Marion, but she
- 39:52Speaker 4: got pregnant and couldn't do it, and then the other
- 39:54Speaker 4: made Marion got the gig. So that doesn't check out
- 39:58Speaker 4: to me that you'd have both people from Princess Bride
- 40:00Speaker 4: both of you a smell collusion.
- 40:05Speaker 3: When I watch a movie, no matter what movie it is,
- 40:08Speaker 3: immediately following I go IMDb trivia and read everything about it,
- 40:12Speaker 3: and then if there's a toy line, I go on
- 40:13Speaker 3: eBay and look at the toys. And that's what I
- 40:15Speaker 3: did for this.
- 40:15Speaker 4: That's what came up on the spots that become It's become.
- 40:21Speaker 2: Man, Well, I loved it last night was honestly, I
- 40:24Speaker 2: went to bed like so happy, just like I heard the.
- 40:27Speaker 4: Best morning coup, two cups of coffee in bed watching
- 40:31Speaker 4: this like the the why my heart was racing in
- 40:37Speaker 4: certain scenes that I've seen. I've seen this movie at
- 40:38Speaker 4: least seven eight times in my life because I bought
- 40:41Speaker 4: the DVD and that dvd craze. I definitely watched it
- 40:43Speaker 4: in college a time or two, so like, you know,
- 40:47Speaker 4: I know what's gonna happen, you know, and I'm still
- 40:50Speaker 4: like just really really enjoyed myself.
- 40:53Speaker 2: I'm gonna be honest, I think I saw it. I've
- 40:55Speaker 2: seen it probably a hundred times. I'm serious. I think
- 40:59Speaker 2: I've watched a movie more than any other movie in
- 41:01Speaker 2: my life.
- 41:02Speaker 4: What is your current collection of these figures?
- 41:05Speaker 2: I have everything but the couple of the vehicles. I
- 41:08Speaker 2: don't have to play. Yeah, I have one detall square.
- 41:12Speaker 2: No they are they're they're loose, they're in they actually
- 41:15Speaker 2: uh perfectly sit on ringside collectible Mattel stands.
- 41:19Speaker 4: I was just saying, there's no way they stand well
- 41:21Speaker 4: on their own.
- 41:22Speaker 2: And the battle wagon fits perfectly in a detoll, and
- 41:25Speaker 2: the figures are displayed right in front of the battle wagon.
- 41:28Speaker 4: Oh my god, Okay, it's great.
- 41:29Speaker 2: It's a great little display.
- 41:31Speaker 3: I think this is the perfect movie for what these
- 41:33Speaker 3: things are about, a movie that I think still holds up. Then,
- 41:36Speaker 3: like I said, not big, just because I didn't like it,
- 41:39Speaker 3: it doesn't mean I don't like appreciate it.
- 41:41Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 41:42Speaker 3: I can understand why it was a hit, why people
- 41:44Speaker 3: still have fond memories of it, and I could picture
- 41:46Speaker 3: it's still holding up if you were a fan.
- 41:49Speaker 2: But I can see also why you weren't that into it.
- 41:52Speaker 2: If you just don't really like that kind of genre.
- 41:54Speaker 3: Well, that's that's pretty much what it is. I just
- 41:56Speaker 3: don't like that cart Do you like First Night?
- 42:00Speaker 2: I did like First Night?
- 42:01Speaker 4: First Night? I mean there's no toys for it, but
- 42:04Speaker 4: that's got the same exact vibe to me as this movie.
- 42:06Speaker 4: And I love that movie when I was a kid too.
- 42:08Speaker 2: So oh yeah, I didn't like it as much as
- 42:10Speaker 2: Robin Hood.
- 42:11Speaker 3: But you guys ever see First Kid? I like that one.
- 42:15Speaker 4: God losers?
- 42:20Speaker 2: All right, Well, did we think about one for next?
- 42:23Speaker 4: What I have my pitch? I have my pitch.
- 42:25Speaker 2: Okay, what's your pitch.
- 42:26Speaker 4: Let's keep the costner love Festa because I don't think
- 42:30Speaker 4: I've ever really seen it in I could tell like,
- 42:33Speaker 4: that's another one.
- 42:34Speaker 3: I'm not gonna be into what.
- 42:36Speaker 2: I'm going to tell you this right now. Water World
- 42:37Speaker 2: terrible movie, but I'm into doing it's it's a it's
- 42:42Speaker 2: a really interesting toy line.
- 42:44Speaker 4: I've I don't think I've ever seen it. It's entirety.
- 42:48Speaker 4: I've seen like bits and pieces on TV, like growing up.
- 42:50Speaker 4: I don't think I've ever seen it seen it.
- 42:51Speaker 2: All right, here's my here's my list.
- 42:53Speaker 4: Let's let's let's hash it out. What other Oh no,
- 42:56Speaker 4: I'll do it, I'll do it.
- 42:57Speaker 2: Hold on, let me pitch one. Do you think we
- 43:00Speaker 2: could maybe we could have people vote on it.
- 43:03Speaker 3: We're the ones watching it, so all right, here's my one.
- 43:06Speaker 4: Well, how about we each pick one? No, no, no,
- 43:08Speaker 4: we each picked one and we have some put a
- 43:11Speaker 4: pole in the group. Okay, that's when we go.
- 43:13Speaker 2: So here's my here's the one. I'm gonna throw up
- 43:14Speaker 2: Terminator too. I think that the toy line is perfect
- 43:17Speaker 2: and it's a great film.
- 43:19Speaker 3: I mean, I agree with you. I would love Terminator too.
- 43:22Speaker 3: But you have to pick one.
- 43:23Speaker 4: Just know, you have to pick you know what. Someone
- 43:25Speaker 4: suggested Demolition Man, which I was cool. I've never seen that,
- 43:27Speaker 4: and they have cool toys.
- 43:29Speaker 3: I'll pick Small Soldiers.
- 43:32Speaker 2: Oh god, oh so I hate that movie. It was
- 43:35Speaker 2: so disappointing to me.
- 43:36Speaker 4: I saw that once in the theater and fucking hated it.
- 43:39Speaker 4: Me too when I was very young too.
- 43:41Speaker 2: Me too. I was so disappointed in it.
- 43:43Speaker 4: I was so.
- 43:44Speaker 2: I think it's because I just thought it was something
- 43:45Speaker 2: and it was the other thing, and.
- 43:47Speaker 4: I wanted to buy all the toys and I just
- 43:49Speaker 4: didn't like.
- 43:49Speaker 2: I hated it. So all right, we'll put those three down. Mark,
- 43:53Speaker 2: I just got it, got it.
- 43:55Speaker 4: We're gonna have a little Poleski.
- 43:56Speaker 2: In my mind here. Well, this is a great episode.
- 43:59Speaker 2: If you're watching the video version of this episode. We
- 44:01Speaker 2: went all out here, guys.
- 44:02Speaker 4: I've had some fun like doing these, this one through
- 44:09Speaker 4: the roof. I was just I was just a real
- 44:11Speaker 4: happy boy. This morningsident I watched, It's like, goddamn.
- 44:15Speaker 2: Oh yeah, me too. All right, Well take us out, Brian, Wow,
- 44:21Speaker 2: and I mean Brian Adams.
- 44:23Speaker 4: The other Brian. God so good. Just put the put
- 44:31Speaker 4: the music video at the end of this to take
- 44:33Speaker 4: it Round. This is Mark Mark's wedding song. He danced
- 44:39Speaker 4: to this.
- 44:39Speaker 2: I wish I did. I want to go back in time.
- 44:46Speaker 4: How many weddings in nineteen ninety one? Dance to the sauce?
- 44:50Speaker 4: Oh shit, all right, we're on a time.
- 45:00Speaker 3: Don't tell me.
- 45:03Speaker 1: It's not wield Giant for.
- 45:08Speaker 2: You.
- 45:08Speaker 1: Can't tell me it's not wield giant for.
- 45:15Speaker 2: No.
- 45:15Speaker 1: It's true. Everything I do, I do it for you.
