- 0:00Speaker 1: Ft Live postgame show presented by the brand new Fox
- 0:05Speaker 1: one app, which is where you might have been watching
- 0:07Speaker 1: the World Series. Well that was fun if you're Canadian.
- 0:12Speaker 1: The Blue Jays take down the Dodgers, and I mean,
- 0:15Speaker 1: you had it all Scotty Brown Aircraft's Todd father, Todd Frazier.
- 0:21Speaker 1: You're a Blue Jays fan. You've waited for World Series
- 0:24Speaker 1: moments since nineteen ninety three. There are many that aren't
- 0:27Speaker 1: even alive last time they were in there. They get
- 0:30Speaker 1: the whole song and dance before this thing starts. They're
- 0:32Speaker 1: down to nothing. They're the best comeback team in baseball,
- 0:35Speaker 1: and they do just that with an explosive sixth inning.
- 0:39Speaker 1: They score nine runs and by the end of the
- 0:41Speaker 1: game they're trolling show. Heyo, Tani, that's good that we
- 0:48Speaker 1: need you. We would not like your services. We can
- 0:52Speaker 1: win without you, and they did it with the utmost respect.
- 0:57Speaker 1: If you want the truth, we don't need you. I meant,
- 1:00Speaker 1: and that one probably hurts a little.
- 1:01Speaker 2: Bit more than you know, saying a few vulgarities or
- 1:05Speaker 2: anything out there because they put on his spank in there.
- 1:08Speaker 2: Eleven to four and nine run inning. I mean, I
- 1:11Speaker 2: gotta be honest with you, I did not see that coming.
- 1:15Speaker 2: They chipped away, and I gotta be honest that the
- 1:17Speaker 2: guy that comes on mind is Alejandro Kirk. This guy,
- 1:20Speaker 2: I don't know how many pitches he fouled off, but
- 1:22Speaker 2: he had some really keya bats got the single down
- 1:25Speaker 2: the line, and then the wheels started turning. After that,
- 1:28Speaker 2: it just seemed like everything Blake snelled through, everything was
- 1:31Speaker 2: up in the zone, could not get that called for
- 1:33Speaker 2: a strike, and he threw a lot of pitches and
- 1:35Speaker 2: I think for both sides, the pitch count went up,
- 1:38Speaker 2: and next thing he knew, the Blue Jays were the
- 1:40Speaker 2: first one to pounce on him and make that a huge,
- 1:42Speaker 2: huge inning.
- 1:44Speaker 3: For a team that swings a lot. They didn't put
- 1:46Speaker 3: a lot of balls in play right away. They made
- 1:49Speaker 3: that pitch count come up, go up, Like you said,
- 1:52Speaker 3: but there's no I mean, there's no like I get it.
- 1:54Speaker 3: Alejandro Kirk. You know he drew that walk early in
- 1:58Speaker 3: the game, that that like that drew that first inning out,
- 2:02Speaker 3: which kind of looked like it kind of tired snell
- 2:05Speaker 3: out a little bit, but he kind of bounced back,
- 2:09Speaker 3: and then that sixth inning he got through the fifth
- 2:11Speaker 3: and then that sixth inning, they said, now we've seen enough,
- 2:15Speaker 3: Like we've seen enough, we're gonna we're gonna kick you
- 2:17Speaker 3: out of the game, and they did, and really it
- 2:20Speaker 3: was bam bam, bam bam. Barger just a pinch hit
- 2:24Speaker 3: grand slam, the first ever pinch hit grand slam put
- 2:29Speaker 3: this game a bed. And that's when the true Canadians
- 2:33Speaker 3: came out, don't you know, And they just said, you know,
- 2:36Speaker 3: it's it's a great time for us to just take
- 2:38Speaker 3: it out on on show Halo Tani because he didn't
- 2:42Speaker 3: come up on that flight that we thought it was
- 2:44Speaker 3: gonna be him, but it wasn't. And now he's just
- 2:46Speaker 3: gonna be down oh one in the first game of
- 2:49Speaker 3: the World Series and this is really nice for us.
- 2:52Speaker 1: And instead they use that money on Bladdie Junior and
- 2:56Speaker 1: it's working out for him this postseason. But it's not
- 2:59Speaker 1: just Flatty Junior. I do still feel like many casual
- 3:04Speaker 1: fans need to get introduced to the rest of the group.
- 3:08Speaker 1: Barger great example, and they told the story about how
- 3:11Speaker 1: he got super swoll over COVID and added like seventy
- 3:14Speaker 1: five pounds of muscle and now he's bam bam, you
- 3:18Speaker 1: guys mentioned Kirk, who I think is one of the
- 3:20Speaker 1: most underrated catchers in the sport. He's great defensively, he's
- 3:23Speaker 1: a pitch framing whiz. I think he's a great game caller.
- 3:26Speaker 1: And he's a pesky hitter. Yeah, the eight pitch opposite
- 3:31Speaker 1: fields high off the right field wall knock that was
- 3:34Speaker 1: only a single. That's double for ninety eight percent of
- 3:36Speaker 1: the league. Who cares. He knows his body and he
- 3:39Speaker 1: stays at first. And then Varshow hits the first pitch
- 3:41Speaker 1: to run over four injer twenty three feet. Dalton Varshow
- 3:44Speaker 1: is actually making that Diamondbacks Blue Jays trade from years
- 3:48Speaker 1: back that involved a few others that were successful on
- 3:51Speaker 1: the Arizona side look pretty decent right now. Bar Show
- 3:54Speaker 1: is an elite center fielder. He's got great pop. He's
- 3:57Speaker 1: got three home runs in the postseason. And and my
- 4:01Speaker 1: personal favorite plodfather is Ernie Clement. Ernie Clement is a
- 4:06Speaker 1: hits machine now. He was a Gold Club Finals last year.
- 4:09Speaker 1: He's a good base runner, he's a good baseball player,
- 4:12Speaker 1: as John Schneider likes to say, good defender. But the
- 4:16Speaker 1: two regular seasons here that he got pretty normal playing
- 4:19Speaker 1: time were still a bit under league average in terms
- 4:22Speaker 1: of ops plus at one hundred he was in the
- 4:24Speaker 1: mid nineties. I mean, this dude's like hitting five hundred
- 4:27Speaker 1: in the playoffs with slug He's incredible. And think about it,
- 4:32Speaker 1: bases loaded, no outs, they get snell out of the game,
- 4:35Speaker 1: you still got to capitalize. And he's the one that
- 4:37Speaker 1: sets the tone, gets the knock that's the go ahead,
- 4:40Speaker 1: and then it starts the doozy in the inning for
- 4:43Speaker 1: nine runs.
- 4:45Speaker 2: Yeah, and he's a guy that when you look on
- 4:48Speaker 2: his baseball card, if you look, if you look who
- 4:51Speaker 2: he is, his size of stature, you're not blown away
- 4:55Speaker 2: by it, you know what I mean. But this guy
- 4:57Speaker 2: is an absolute beast of a baseball player. He fouls
- 5:00Speaker 2: the balls off. He got back to back sliders there,
- 5:03Speaker 2: and he did something with it. The first one he
- 5:05Speaker 2: saw didn't really like. The second one came up with
- 5:08Speaker 2: a big line drive up the middle. He finds a
- 5:10Speaker 2: way with two strikes to put the bat on the
- 5:12Speaker 2: ball stay on it, and I think that's his biggest asset.
- 5:17Speaker 2: He battles the whole time and he's focused on finding
- 5:19Speaker 2: a way to get the barrel to the ball. And
- 5:21Speaker 2: these guys are not going to blow you away with
- 5:23Speaker 2: their big names. They're just going to blow you away
- 5:25Speaker 2: by battling, seeing more pitches, fouling pitches off, and next
- 5:29Speaker 2: thing you know, boom, an easy single to right field,
- 5:33Speaker 2: gets the wheels turning a little bit, a walk, a
- 5:36Speaker 2: hit by pitch, and all of a sudden, here we
- 5:38Speaker 2: go a new pitch and change. It doesn't matter. This
- 5:40Speaker 2: team is clicking on all cylinders. It doesn't matter who
- 5:42Speaker 2: they're playing right now. And you know, you think you savage.
- 5:46Speaker 2: How he did? He didn't, He didn't have his best game,
- 5:48Speaker 2: but guess what, he only gave up two runs out
- 5:50Speaker 2: of the four innings too as well. He'll be just
- 5:52Speaker 2: fine as they move forward. But again, what a performance.
- 5:57Speaker 2: And they got these guys at the bottom lineup that
- 5:59Speaker 2: are absolutely doing what they're supposed to do, finding a
- 6:02Speaker 2: way to get on pace.
- 6:03Speaker 3: Because we're talking about Ernie Clement fourth round twenty seventeen draft,
- 6:09Speaker 3: Cleveland Indians, Nathan Lucas, seventh round twenty fifteen Draft, Cleveland Indians.
- 6:17Speaker 3: Like they didn't, just like they didn't just buy this team.
- 6:20Speaker 3: Everyone's like, oh, you know, the only way you can
- 6:22Speaker 3: win postseason is by buying team, buying players and getting
- 6:26Speaker 3: all the all the money. It's all about, you know,
- 6:29Speaker 3: we should have equal payroll and everybody should be able
- 6:31Speaker 3: to buy the same players. You know what, dance, dance
- 6:36Speaker 3: with the person you came with. And you know what
- 6:38Speaker 3: these guys are. I think Ernie clement is seven multi
- 6:41Speaker 3: hit games in the postseason now, like they're rolling these
- 6:45Speaker 3: boys out. They're rolling them out and they're putting together
- 6:48Speaker 3: at bats. They're doing what they do and they're not
- 6:51Speaker 3: like man, I wouldonder what my analytics say about how
- 6:54Speaker 3: how my launch angle's going in my swinging speed. You
- 6:57Speaker 3: know what, they're up one zero right now.
- 7:00Speaker 1: Also, they kept their superstar, Bladdy Junior. And the story
- 7:04Speaker 1: with the Dodgers, Yes, they spend a lot of money,
- 7:06Speaker 1: but they stole superstars from teams that easily, easily, easily
- 7:09Speaker 1: could have afforded them. That includes Mookie Betts in Boston,
- 7:13Speaker 1: that includes Freddie Freeman in Atlanta, among others. So just
- 7:17Speaker 1: keep that in mind. Laddy Junior stays, it's it's a big,
- 7:20Speaker 1: big example. What you got another you want to add.
- 7:23Speaker 3: No, just the fact that the Blue Jays they extended
- 7:26Speaker 3: Alejandra Kirk this offseason too, and he had a down
- 7:30Speaker 3: year last year. I'm not saying that money makes players better.
- 7:34Speaker 3: I'm saying there's certain times when you put guys in
- 7:37Speaker 3: situations that they get to play their game because they
- 7:41Speaker 3: have security, because they have the ability to say, Okay,
- 7:44Speaker 3: you know what, I'm kind of an unorthodox player. I'm
- 7:47Speaker 3: gonna hear hate from something from one side. I'm just
- 7:50Speaker 3: gonna do my thing. I'm gonna do my thing for
- 7:53Speaker 3: the team to win. They extended him, and look at
- 7:56Speaker 3: the year that Alejandra Kirk's had.
- 7:58Speaker 1: That's a great call. So he got the extension late
- 8:01Speaker 1: spring training, five years, fifty eight million bucks, and that's
- 8:04Speaker 1: going to take him through his prime years. You've got
- 8:06Speaker 1: one of the top catchers in the sport for twelve
- 8:08Speaker 1: million dollars per year. He would have been a free
- 8:10Speaker 1: agent after next season. Very well done, and your right crats,
- 8:14Speaker 1: he was coming off and season. That's a good time
- 8:17Speaker 1: to throw some money at someone and say, hey, you
- 8:20Speaker 1: don't know what life's going to bring. You have about
- 8:22Speaker 1: fifty eight million dollars and in baseball terms, that ain't much.
- 8:25Speaker 1: So credit on that side. I also want to bring
- 8:29Speaker 1: up a grown Yeah.
- 8:32Speaker 3: Sorry, I also look into the different stuff with al
- 8:34Speaker 3: Jhundra Kirk. Everyone looks at offense, but the guy was
- 8:37Speaker 3: a goldgloved, gold glove type of player two years ago.
- 8:42Speaker 3: And then I know from talking to guys on the
- 8:44Speaker 3: inside that they were not happy with the way that
- 8:47Speaker 3: he was necessarily receiving the same way as he was
- 8:51Speaker 3: the year before. His blocking was really good. He was
- 8:54Speaker 3: low to the ground and he was able to get
- 8:56Speaker 3: a lot of numbers in different ways. And he said,
- 8:59Speaker 3: you know what, I think my blocking the way I mean,
- 9:01Speaker 3: my receiving the way I was doing it before is good,
- 9:05Speaker 3: but I think I can add to it this way.
- 9:07Speaker 3: And I really think a contract helps a guy like
- 9:11Speaker 3: this say I know what I know because I'm the
- 9:15Speaker 3: one out there doing it and I'm gonna play my way.
- 9:18Speaker 3: And he's still a young player. People look at him
- 9:20Speaker 3: and they're like, oh, man, you know he's he's he's
- 9:23Speaker 3: a different he's a different body type. There's no way
- 9:25Speaker 3: it's gonna it's gonna play and translate to the big
- 9:29Speaker 3: leagues like he's done it the whole time and he's
- 9:32Speaker 3: now able to do it his way without saying ooh,
- 9:35Speaker 3: you gotta change, you gotta change because you got to
- 9:37Speaker 3: hit for more slug you gotta you gotta receive differently
- 9:41Speaker 3: because you know he's doing it his way. And I
- 9:44Speaker 3: think a lot of the contract really helps because there's
- 9:47Speaker 3: numbers that back that up.
- 9:50Speaker 1: It's a good call. Hey, we're getting some nice wallpaper
- 9:54Speaker 1: during this show. We'll still go in for a minute
- 9:57Speaker 1: here thanks to MLB Perfect Inning twenty five. If you're
- 9:59Speaker 1: all amped up from watching the First World Series game
- 10:02Speaker 1: bottom right corner of your screen, QR code free game,
- 10:05Speaker 1: download it, go for it, have a good time with it.
- 10:08Speaker 1: I want to bring up Bo Boshett Todd Father. Bo
- 10:12Speaker 1: is back. Here's a comment from Harman. But Bashett looked
- 10:16Speaker 1: like a hell of a lot better than I expected.
- 10:18Speaker 1: I liked that they played him but then swapped him
- 10:20Speaker 1: out for IKF. That should be the play going forward.
- 10:23Speaker 1: So when we left our show this afternoon, Todd Father,
- 10:27Speaker 1: we didn't know where bo would play, and then they go, uh,
- 10:30Speaker 1: second base, first time since twenty nineteen, where he played
- 10:33Speaker 1: like one game in the miners he played I think
- 10:35Speaker 1: twenty eighteen got a little more time there. But he's
- 10:37Speaker 1: never played second base in the major leagues and he
- 10:40Speaker 1: was off since the sixth of September to try and
- 10:43Speaker 1: recover from a knee injury. And here he is back,
- 10:46Speaker 1: one for two with a walk and a play at
- 10:48Speaker 1: second base that makes other teams go, you know what,
- 10:51Speaker 1: when this guy hits free agency, we could sign him
- 10:53Speaker 1: to play second base too.
- 10:55Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 10:55Speaker 2: I mean listen, everybody's talking about, well, this might hurt
- 10:58Speaker 2: him a little bit free agency.
- 11:01Speaker 3: Whatever.
- 11:01Speaker 2: He's a team guy, as we know that, he's not
- 11:03Speaker 2: afraid to play any positions. He looked comfortable at the plate,
- 11:06Speaker 2: you know, three to zero count swinging. I thought that
- 11:09Speaker 2: was really fantastic. I'm sitting here with my buddy Dave
- 11:11Speaker 2: and I'm like, listen, is he swinging three to oh
- 11:14Speaker 2: here or what? And I said, let's go, And all
- 11:16Speaker 2: of a sudden, he gets a number to right field.
- 11:18Speaker 2: That must have felt pretty darn good. Made a huge
- 11:21Speaker 2: play in the hole there, nice throat a first base Again,
- 11:24Speaker 2: You're not going to see him run really hard. But
- 11:26Speaker 2: guess what, this is what we talked about earlier. He's
- 11:29Speaker 2: the guy. He's a beast. He's an absolute stud of
- 11:32Speaker 2: a player. He's a top thirty player that you need
- 11:35Speaker 2: to see on that field. And if he's on that field,
- 11:38Speaker 2: good things are gonna happen, and I think this only
- 11:40Speaker 2: boosts them. We'll see how he feels tomorrow because back
- 11:43Speaker 2: to back games he hasn't played either. But again, when
- 11:45Speaker 2: you're up that big, you can make that change. I
- 11:48Speaker 2: k have better be ready just in case they need
- 11:51Speaker 2: to put him in a little earlier. But again, huge
- 11:53Speaker 2: part for Toronto's success just getting him on the field.
- 11:58Speaker 1: Yeah, he's not running well, but he looks comfortable at
- 12:01Speaker 1: the plate, and they said the knees still bothering him
- 12:04Speaker 1: for sure. You can tell when he's moving around. Right
- 12:06Speaker 1: when he was doubled up, he wasn't moving that well
- 12:09Speaker 1: over to first compared to what you usually see from him.
- 12:12Speaker 1: But at the plate solid and that's really tough. I mean,
- 12:16Speaker 1: I have no idea about this, but you can tell me,
- 12:18Speaker 1: especially you, Right, you don't play for days, then you
- 12:21Speaker 1: just pop up. How about bo don't play for six
- 12:24Speaker 1: weeks and then pop up against Blake Snell in World
- 12:27Speaker 1: Series Game one. Also, you're going to play a new position.
- 12:32Speaker 3: The position part is what I was impressed with. He
- 12:35Speaker 3: didn't try to make too crazy of a play. I
- 12:38Speaker 3: think it was Taoscar. You know it wasn't going to
- 12:41Speaker 3: be a double play, but he still made the turn
- 12:43Speaker 3: and he just that turn looked effortless. It looked fluid,
- 12:48Speaker 3: which I love to see. He's seemed comfortable around the bag,
- 12:53Speaker 3: which is good. You're not going to see him be
- 12:56Speaker 3: down any hustle doubles, and that's fine. I do want
- 13:00Speaker 3: to see his continued approach of you know what, they're
- 13:03Speaker 3: gonna give me that ginormous three to four hole between
- 13:06Speaker 3: the first basement and the second baseman, I'm gonna go
- 13:09Speaker 3: that way. I think the number three to zero. I
- 13:12Speaker 3: think it was a change up, kind of cute off
- 13:15Speaker 3: the end. So I'm like, eh, okay, but if you're
- 13:19Speaker 3: getting this kind of production out of them, sorry, there's
- 13:21Speaker 3: nobody else on the lineup. There's nobody else that's not
- 13:23Speaker 3: on the roster that's gonna give you the same thing.
- 13:26Speaker 3: And they have a goal glove winner or a goal
- 13:31Speaker 3: glove finalist at multiple positions in IKF who can come
- 13:35Speaker 3: in in those situations. So good for the Jays for
- 13:38Speaker 3: having them out there and not being afraid, like, you know,
- 13:42Speaker 3: we'll ease him in off the bench. Look sucking up
- 13:45Speaker 3: through Game two. If he's hurting, the knee swells up
- 13:48Speaker 3: play Game two, you get off after that on Sunday
- 13:52Speaker 3: because MLB is afraid of the NFL, and then you
- 13:56Speaker 3: play games games three and five. If it's really swelled
- 13:59Speaker 3: up to me, this has added such a boost for
- 14:03Speaker 3: this lineup.
- 14:04Speaker 1: I want to talk about Dodgers pitching with both of you,
- 14:07Speaker 1: but first a quick reminder to everyone watching right now.
- 14:10Speaker 1: We love the chat, we love all the people watching us.
- 14:12Speaker 1: For the post game. We're going to do this after
- 14:14Speaker 1: every World Series game, we'll have me and some FT
- 14:17Speaker 1: members breaking down what we're seeing. Please subscribe to the
- 14:20Speaker 1: channel if you don't already. If you just found us cool,
- 14:23Speaker 1: just hit a button. That's all we're asking you to do,
- 14:25Speaker 1: and maybe give us a thumbs up to as we're
- 14:27Speaker 1: chat and let.
- 14:28Speaker 3: Us know what you like.
- 14:29Speaker 1: Okay, Todd Father. They were able to figure out Blake
- 14:33Speaker 1: Snell enough to not let him go eight innings. Mission accomplished,
- 14:38Speaker 1: and then they get to the bullpen. There's one weakness
- 14:41Speaker 1: that stands out over everything else with the Dodgers, and
- 14:44Speaker 1: that's been obvious since the first game they played, the
- 14:47Speaker 1: wild Card game against the Reds. Their bullpen is a problem.
- 14:52Speaker 1: And guess what happened Their bullpen was a problem.
- 14:55Speaker 2: Yeah, got exploited in a little bed. And as you saw,
- 15:00Speaker 2: four innings is not going to do it. I don't
- 15:02Speaker 2: care who's starting anymore. It's just not how this playoff
- 15:05Speaker 2: is rolling. It's not how this World Series is going.
- 15:08Speaker 2: You need your starters to go five plus, if not
- 15:10Speaker 2: six plus. And again, I honestly, I'm not making an
- 15:14Speaker 2: excuse for Blake SNeW, but I think a little bit
- 15:16Speaker 2: extra time I might have changed, you know, not only
- 15:18Speaker 2: the way he pitches, but his mindset and going into it.
- 15:23Speaker 2: Baseball players I don't know about Ucratzy, but you know
- 15:26Speaker 2: most of them at least, they want to keep going.
- 15:27Speaker 2: They want to play, they want to play, and we've
- 15:29Speaker 2: had those conversations before. But a week off or whatever
- 15:32Speaker 2: the time was is a pretty long time. And you
- 15:35Speaker 2: could tell his fastball stayed up. His breaking stuff either
- 15:38Speaker 2: got fouled off or got hit pretty hard. So just
- 15:41Speaker 2: couldn't find that fastball. And I thought once, you know,
- 15:44Speaker 2: if he finds that fastball up in his own or
- 15:46Speaker 2: inner half, which he's really good at, he's really good
- 15:49Speaker 2: at throwing. But it just didn't seem like he had it.
- 15:52Speaker 2: I mean, even the first inning he got the first
- 15:54Speaker 2: two outs. The next thing you know, he's twenty eight
- 15:56Speaker 2: pitches in the first inning and just got away with
- 15:58Speaker 2: that pop fly with bases loaded. So it just seemed
- 16:02Speaker 2: like it just wasn't wasn't there day to day, even
- 16:04Speaker 2: though they're up to night, and you felt like something
- 16:06Speaker 2: was gonna happen.
- 16:09Speaker 3: Yeah, for sure, I think there's a I think there's
- 16:12Speaker 3: a clear there's a clear media bias that you know
- 16:18Speaker 3: what your days off means something. The fact that some
- 16:21Speaker 3: a team that swept going against a team that has
- 16:25Speaker 3: won game seven, has never won a series, there's something
- 16:29Speaker 3: to that storyline. But I'll be honest, if there's a
- 16:33Speaker 3: team that can fight against that storyline, it's Los Angeles
- 16:37Speaker 3: Dodgers because of the fact that, like little things I
- 16:40Speaker 3: tweeted about it during the game. Every time you showed
- 16:43Speaker 3: one of the hitters, whether it's Tay Oscar, whether it's Max,
- 16:47Speaker 3: whether it was Key k talking to the first base coach,
- 16:51Speaker 3: they're talking about like the angle that the slider comes
- 16:55Speaker 3: in on, and you saw Max even say like, Okay,
- 16:58Speaker 3: that slider's like actually backing up more like a left
- 17:01Speaker 3: handed slider, a left handed curveball coming out of a
- 17:04Speaker 3: right hander's arm. And the reason I say that is
- 17:07Speaker 3: because this team makes adjustments. This team does a good
- 17:12Speaker 3: job of saying, Okay, I understand why a layoff would
- 17:15Speaker 3: hurt us, but we're gonna go out and do this.
- 17:18Speaker 3: We're gonna we have this to draw from. I mean,
- 17:21Speaker 3: I don't know that there's many postseason experiences that this
- 17:24Speaker 3: Dodgers team hasn't experienced. So when you talk about like
- 17:28Speaker 3: when you talk about like veteran like knowing how things
- 17:34Speaker 3: are gonna go, this team has been battle tested. So
- 17:38Speaker 3: you see them being able to make that adjustment as
- 17:41Speaker 3: the series goes on, even if they had a little
- 17:43Speaker 3: bit of a layoff.
- 17:46Speaker 1: Yeah, the adjustment also was Blake Snell was able to
- 17:51Speaker 1: fool the Blue Jays during the regular season in a
- 17:54Speaker 1: brilliant outing, and they remembered it. They got eaten up
- 17:57Speaker 1: by that change up, and it didn't happen again. And
- 18:00Speaker 1: I mean the change up they mentioned at one point
- 18:02Speaker 1: during the broadcast two for twenty two to eleven strikeouts
- 18:05Speaker 1: in the postseason entering that outing, and then they were
- 18:10Speaker 1: at least at five hits if not more, against that changeup.
- 18:14Speaker 1: So it was a total difference there you go. The
- 18:16Speaker 1: fact that the left he's in struggle with Snell either
- 18:18Speaker 1: is actually terrifying Mikey in the chat. Okay, So I'm
- 18:22Speaker 1: gonna throw a different idea out there for Dave Roberts.
- 18:27Speaker 1: If he feels like he doesn't have enough to trust
- 18:31Speaker 1: in the bullpen, does he get starters involved? I mean,
- 18:35Speaker 1: you could say that was Sheen, but he's a reliever
- 18:37Speaker 1: now for them. I'm saying, do you see Blake Snell
- 18:42Speaker 1: on his throat day later in this series? Do you
- 18:44Speaker 1: see Glass now for a bullpen session or two in
- 18:47Speaker 1: between his outings? Just throwing it out there. Does sho
- 18:50Speaker 1: Hao Tani become a bullpen factor late in games? And
- 18:53Speaker 1: maybe Roki Sasaki comes in a little bit earlier, or
- 18:56Speaker 1: Roki's got to give him two or three Just throwing
- 18:58Speaker 1: that out there based on Game one here, Todd father,
- 19:03Speaker 1: if I'm LA and a starter doesn't get me through
- 19:07Speaker 1: six ish, like you mentioned, it's going to be a
- 19:11Speaker 1: very nervous time period to get to the late stages
- 19:14Speaker 1: of the game. If you're in a close one up,
- 19:17Speaker 1: a run or two or an a TI game. I'm
- 19:19Speaker 1: just saying that is the challenge now, and Dave Roberts
- 19:21Speaker 1: didn't have to deal with it at all at all.
- 19:23Speaker 1: In the last rounds, they just breezed by a team
- 19:26Speaker 1: that they were so much better then. But this might
- 19:28Speaker 1: be different.
- 19:29Speaker 2: Yeah, anything goes Scott, you know that. I think you
- 19:33Speaker 2: take a game by game. Yeah, of course, after this
- 19:37Speaker 2: game and you're going tomorrow, you're thinking about the bullpen
- 19:40Speaker 2: and oh boy, if I'm Dave Roberts, all right, well
- 19:44Speaker 2: we need some help here. We Needyamamoto to come in
- 19:46Speaker 2: here and get after it and do his job and
- 19:48Speaker 2: give me six seven plus innings and find a way
- 19:51Speaker 2: to win. But if they do lose that game tomorrow,
- 19:55Speaker 2: then no holds bars. Everybody needs to be ready and
- 19:59Speaker 2: it doesn't matter matter what inning. They need to be
- 20:01Speaker 2: ready to come in. Of course, you know, going down
- 20:03Speaker 2: to nothing is very big and for Toronto will be huge.
- 20:06Speaker 2: Know they got to play three in LA. But again,
- 20:09Speaker 2: take it day by day. Understand. You know this happened
- 20:12Speaker 2: before too, but they found ways to win. So is
- 20:15Speaker 2: this the time where they don't find those ways to win?
- 20:18Speaker 2: We'll see themorrow night.
- 20:20Speaker 3: I don't think you changed. I don't think you changed.
- 20:22Speaker 3: I don't I don't think one game shows you necessarily
- 20:27Speaker 3: that you have to change and go, Okay, Blake Snell,
- 20:31Speaker 3: You're available. I think I think that's happening. I don't
- 20:34Speaker 3: think in two days Blake Snell's throwing his side going dog.
- 20:39Speaker 3: I'm not available. I signed one hundred and seventy million
- 20:41Speaker 3: dollar contract. I know it's only one hundred and fifty
- 20:43Speaker 3: two million current present day value, but I'm not available.
- 20:47Speaker 3: Like to me, I think this same status quo is
- 20:53Speaker 3: going forward. I think you ran into the fact that
- 20:56Speaker 3: they did a great job of pushing Blake Snell out
- 20:59Speaker 3: in the fifth, like he got through five. He was
- 21:02Speaker 3: at I guess he would consider be five plus and
- 21:05Speaker 3: they did a great job. Look, he got a ball
- 21:07Speaker 3: on the ground and it wasn't at somebody. He could
- 21:09Speaker 3: have been a groundball double play and he could have
- 21:11Speaker 3: gotten through six. There. I don't think you necessarily change
- 21:15Speaker 3: and panic and and pivot, because I already think the
- 21:19Speaker 3: only guy you have right now that you trust that
- 21:22Speaker 3: is a true bullpen piece, like throughout the year bullpen
- 21:26Speaker 3: piece is Blake Trinon. I don't think. I don't think
- 21:30Speaker 3: you're trusting Emma Sheehan necessarily as oh well, he was
- 21:34Speaker 3: a bullpen piece he started, He started a lot of
- 21:36Speaker 3: games for him. Roki was a starter and he's now
- 21:40Speaker 3: considered a bullpen piece. So I think you're still sticking
- 21:42Speaker 3: with the same pieces. I don't think you're going, hey, show, Hey,
- 21:46Speaker 3: I need you to be ready for the ninth because
- 21:47Speaker 3: we might use Roki in the seventh and the eighth.
- 21:50Speaker 3: I don't think they're at that point yet. If you
- 21:52Speaker 3: see that, I think the Blue Jays have really cracked
- 21:57Speaker 3: the shell that is the Dodger's powerhouse, and it's how
- 22:02Speaker 3: Dave Roberts deploys all of their pitching.
- 22:07Speaker 1: Was she and the right guy there? I mean easy
- 22:09Speaker 1: to look back now. And I also, you know, we're
- 22:11Speaker 1: thinking about Alex Bessi and the FAM. He's not going
- 22:14Speaker 1: to appear in this series. You know, we were talking earlier.
- 22:17Speaker 1: We didn't know for sure if he was going to
- 22:19Speaker 1: be on that that Bereatman or Family Medical Emergency List
- 22:22Speaker 1: or anything like that. The Dodgers said they didn't want
- 22:24Speaker 1: to put him on there because they didn't even want
- 22:26Speaker 1: to put pressure on him to come back when he
- 22:28Speaker 1: shouldn't be coming back yet. From what he's dealing with
- 22:31Speaker 1: off the field, that's super serious. He's a super valuable
- 22:35Speaker 1: piece in the circle of trust in a bullpen that
- 22:38Speaker 1: is thin. So you're going to have to score early,
- 22:41Speaker 1: like you like, like you say, Todd Father, score early,
- 22:44Speaker 1: and for Game two, ride Yamamoto. Yamamoto's obviously, I mean,
- 22:50Speaker 1: you're not going to pick up the strikeouts like you
- 22:52Speaker 1: usually do against the Blue Jays. They're the best contact
- 22:54Speaker 1: team in baseball. But he's got a lot of secondary stuff.
- 22:56Speaker 1: And the thing right now is this team's not chasing
- 22:58Speaker 1: that much. But you gotta hope that they chase a
- 23:01Speaker 1: little bit on the secondary stuff because he's got some
- 23:03Speaker 1: of the best in baseball and that at least leads
- 23:06Speaker 1: to some weak contact right and not as much quality
- 23:09Speaker 1: of contact from the Blue Jays, and that gives the
- 23:12Speaker 1: Dodgers an edge early on in the game and that
- 23:15Speaker 1: they can ride Yamamoto and not be nervous where you know,
- 23:18Speaker 1: if it's close and you feel like he's got a
- 23:21Speaker 1: problem in an inning, that's where you put Dave Roberts
- 23:23Speaker 1: in a tough situation. So we'll see how that looks,
- 23:26Speaker 1: but that's what we have to look forward to in
- 23:28Speaker 1: Game two. On the other side, like you mentioned, Trey
- 23:31Speaker 1: Savage did not have his splitter. They talked a lot
- 23:33Speaker 1: about how he hasn't done four days rest starts very
- 23:36Speaker 1: often this year. I think five out of almost thirty ish,
- 23:39Speaker 1: if you're including everything from down in a ball all
- 23:43Speaker 1: the way up to the show in the postseason. He
- 23:45Speaker 1: just didn't have the splitter at no feel for the splitter.
- 23:47Speaker 1: The slider was good, and he battled and got through
- 23:50Speaker 1: Kevin Gossman's not going to look like Trey Ya Savage did.
- 23:55Speaker 1: I think there's a pretty good chance that Gosmin's gonna
- 23:57Speaker 1: have fastball command and he's going to know where he
- 24:00Speaker 1: splitter is going. So even though you know the Dodgers
- 24:04Speaker 1: are like, hey, we've got another ace going out there,
- 24:06Speaker 1: the Blue Jays have their big man, like this is
- 24:08Speaker 1: their vettering, big money number one starter.
- 24:12Speaker 2: Yeah, and before I go on about that, the Dodgers
- 24:14Speaker 2: had opportunities here in this game too early. They did
- 24:17Speaker 2: have an opportunity and Page struck out with the bases
- 24:21Speaker 2: load and then they couldn't get anything else. You know,
- 24:24Speaker 2: they had another opportunity to get guys in, So don't
- 24:27Speaker 2: get a twisted the Dodgers can hit. They had an
- 24:29Speaker 2: opportunity to actually blow this game up. A little bit
- 24:31Speaker 2: earlier in the game, which they didn't. But that's baseball
- 24:34Speaker 2: in a nutshell. Yeah. One thing I'm thinking about with
- 24:38Speaker 2: Gosman is is that him coming in in game seven?
- 24:42Speaker 2: Is that going to mess up how he does as
- 24:44Speaker 2: a starter? I don't think so It's just something to
- 24:46Speaker 2: think about, well, because it wasn't the exact thing that
- 24:49Speaker 2: he does day in and day out. Is jah Mamoto
- 24:53Speaker 2: gonna be that nasty pitcher that goes over one hundred
- 24:55Speaker 2: pitches and you know, saves the day for them going
- 24:59Speaker 2: to LA. So forget about what they throw. I want
- 25:02Speaker 2: to see what they do and how long they throw for.
- 25:04Speaker 2: This could be a battle man, This could be a
- 25:06Speaker 2: two to one game where we see a pitcher's duel,
- 25:09Speaker 2: or it could be just like this, all of a sudden,
- 25:12Speaker 2: big inning and it breaks out two really good pictures.
- 25:15Speaker 2: This is gonna be a really fun game to watch tomorrow,
- 25:17Speaker 2: and I'm I'm ready to go. I can't wait for
- 25:19Speaker 2: this one too. Let's see what happens, all right.
- 25:23Speaker 3: I mean Game two you already mentioned it, Todd. Game two,
- 25:27Speaker 3: you got Yamamoto versus Gosman, you got Splitter versus Splitter.
- 25:31Speaker 3: Really like everything is setting up for those splitters. The
- 25:35Speaker 3: difference is Gosman, if you're able to say, okay, I'm
- 25:40Speaker 3: taking a pitch down. Everything down, this is I mean,
- 25:43Speaker 3: this is an advanced approach. The Blue Jays have the
- 25:46Speaker 3: ability to have an advanced approach, but they also have
- 25:48Speaker 3: the ability to swing at a lot of pitches and
- 25:51Speaker 3: they say, okay, Yamamoto, anything down, we're not swinging. I
- 25:56Speaker 3: think Gosman has the edge there because the Dodgers are
- 25:59Speaker 3: gonna do that. The difference is Gosman's able to locate
- 26:03Speaker 3: that heater down in a way. He's able to say,
- 26:06Speaker 3: I see you taking each one of my best pitches,
- 26:09Speaker 3: each one of my swing and mispitches the pitch that
- 26:12Speaker 3: I think was the second best chase pitch out of
- 26:15Speaker 3: the zone in all of Major League Baseball for Gosman.
- 26:19Speaker 3: And he says, okay, I'll just playing out my heater
- 26:21Speaker 3: at the bottom. I'll plan out my heater at the
- 26:23Speaker 3: bottom again for some strike strikeouts, looking for some get
- 26:27Speaker 3: back into count strikes. And I don't know that Yamamoto
- 26:31Speaker 3: has that ability. Yamamoto does what he does by saying, Okay,
- 26:35Speaker 3: I'm gonna take advantage of teams that are gonna swing
- 26:38Speaker 3: a little bit out of the zone. So which Blue
- 26:40Speaker 3: Jays team is gonna show up the team that says, okay,
- 26:43Speaker 3: we control the zone like we did tonight because will
- 26:46Speaker 3: little strike zone was exactly that it was little, Or
- 26:50Speaker 3: are we going to be a team that, Hey, we
- 26:52Speaker 3: try to put the ball in play a lot and
- 26:53Speaker 3: then Yamamoto's splint comes into play and he's able to
- 26:57Speaker 3: get a lot of quick outs. Game two, I'm even
- 27:02Speaker 3: if the Blue Jays had lost this game, I'm still
- 27:04Speaker 3: intrigued by Game two because the Blue Jays have their
- 27:07Speaker 3: ace going. Now, they're up a game and they have
- 27:09Speaker 3: their ace going.
- 27:12Speaker 1: Yeah, and they're home for one more too. I mean,
- 27:14Speaker 1: imagine if they can take another one here and take
- 27:16Speaker 1: a two to zero lead heading over to La putting
- 27:18Speaker 1: some pressure on Hey, they finished with one more win
- 27:21Speaker 1: than the Dodgers, and it really matters regular season matters.
- 27:23Speaker 1: They get themselves that home game here to start and
- 27:26Speaker 1: the last thing on the serious side, then we'll finish
- 27:28Speaker 1: on a fun note. But if you look at what
- 27:31Speaker 1: the Dodgers were able to accomplish in the last round,
- 27:34Speaker 1: it was incredible. But that just doesn't happen. Two series
- 27:38Speaker 1: in a row. I mean, the Blue Jays first of all,
- 27:40Speaker 1: are clicking their dynamic offense. But also Blake Snell's fastball
- 27:44Speaker 1: command wasn't as good as this last outing. I mean,
- 27:46Speaker 1: example number one was the bar show homer that was
- 27:49Speaker 1: middle middle fastball, and he was painting corners. And he's
- 27:51Speaker 1: actually a guy that doesn't usually give in, like he
- 27:53Speaker 1: will try to avoid that portion of the plate as
- 27:56Speaker 1: well as anyone. He'd rather walk you sometimes. But it
- 27:59Speaker 1: wasn't the same. So that was a problem for the Dodgers.
- 28:02Speaker 1: And we'll see if the other starters can replicate what
- 28:04Speaker 1: they put together last time around or not. So we've
- 28:07Speaker 1: got ourselves a series and let's finish on a fun note.
- 28:09Speaker 1: So I noticed two things every day. Louis Viarland didn't pitch,
- 28:13Speaker 1: which was weird, although they put him in the bullpen
- 28:15Speaker 1: just to throw around. And we were calling his sin
- 28:17Speaker 1: games the other day because I'm sure he was huffing
- 28:20Speaker 1: and puffing during those. I'm kidding, but he always pitches.
- 28:22Speaker 1: And then Todd Father, you know how the grounds crew is, right.
- 28:27Speaker 1: I mean, for me, I've been on playoff fields many
- 28:32Speaker 1: many years of my career, back when I was working
- 28:35Speaker 1: for MLB, and they would be quick to tell you
- 28:37Speaker 1: don't step there, don't go there, don't go there, game
- 28:39Speaker 1: going on. Farrell brought an orchestra of people onto the field.
- 28:45Speaker 1: They did an incredible job. It was a super cool
- 28:47Speaker 1: pregame show. But I was just thinking about all of
- 28:51Speaker 1: the conversations that I've had with Ground's crew over the years.
- 28:56Speaker 1: How nervous do you think they were when they saw
- 28:59Speaker 1: them stomping and singing and getting after it in the
- 29:03Speaker 1: little pregame party.
- 29:06Speaker 2: I think a little bit. I guess all turf really
- 29:10Speaker 2: helps to a little bit, So I don't I don't know.
- 29:12Speaker 2: That's a really good question.
- 29:14Speaker 3: I would be nervous. Excuse me.
- 29:16Speaker 2: I would definitely be nervous just because of what was
- 29:19Speaker 2: out there, all the heavy equipment everything, and listen, this
- 29:23Speaker 2: is a show. We got to put on a show
- 29:25Speaker 2: for the fans and for the people, and you know,
- 29:27Speaker 2: the field might have to take a hit for it.
- 29:29Speaker 2: So it looked like it didn't hurt it today. Hopefully
- 29:32Speaker 2: there's no bumps and bruises tomorrow.
- 29:35Speaker 1: If I ever, you know, misstep, like one little step
- 29:38Speaker 1: on even dirt whatever, And I've been told before like
- 29:41Speaker 1: hey watch it I'm just gonna go Farrell, twenty five
- 29:45Speaker 1: year old series. Okay, everything's changed, it doesn't matter anymore
- 29:49Speaker 1: for ELL's Crew twenty twenty five ye old series. We're
- 29:51Speaker 1: allowed to step here. Please, sir, do not tell me
- 29:53Speaker 1: where I can step anymore. The world has changed. Anyway.
- 29:57Speaker 1: We're gonna do a postgame show after game t you
- 30:00Speaker 1: of the World Series, so make sure you look out

- 30:10Speaker 1: lot of people will watch this in the morning for
- 30:12Speaker 1: a little postgame recap. Dodger fans that are freaking out,
- 30:15Speaker 1: maybe we talked you off the ledge a little bit,
- 30:17Speaker 1: and Blue Jays fans are just feeling themselves right now,
- 30:20Speaker 1: chanting Otani. We would not like your services, but we
