- 0:00SPEAKER_00: Hey guys, welcome back to another episode of Future Anarchy.
- 0:04SPEAKER_00: This is your host, Becky.
- 0:05SPEAKER_00: I'm really excited about our interview today because I, you know, I I don't get a lot of um opportunities to talk about male health with all of you.
- 0:13SPEAKER_00: And I think this is a topic that, you know, it rarely comes up in the way I would like to see it as a scientist in our beauty community.
- 0:21SPEAKER_00: So I'm really excited about the brand we're interviewing today because they have a phenomenal product, first and foremost, but also because it it really stems from a very personal journey and uh a real white space uh that was seen by the founder.
- 0:33SPEAKER_00: So without further ado, I want to introduce you guys to the founder of Radiant Cosmetics.
- 0:37SPEAKER_00: Ruth is my alien.
- 0:39SPEAKER_00: Welcome to the show, Ruth.
- 0:40SPEAKER_00: I'm so excited to interview you.
- 0:41SPEAKER_01: Thank you so much for having me.
- 0:43SPEAKER_01: I'm so excited.
- 0:44SPEAKER_01: Um, this is my first podcast, and I'm so excited to share my story and about the nail growth oil.
- 0:50SPEAKER_01: And so, yeah, thank you so much for having me.
- 0:52SPEAKER_01: Appreciate it.
- 0:53SPEAKER_00: Yeah, no, I'm excited to chat because I really love your product.
- 0:57SPEAKER_00: And, you know, it's not very often that I get into nail products because other than obviously, you know, we all do our own uh our manicures or whatever we want to do with you know the aesthetics.
- 1:08SPEAKER_00: But when it comes to the health of our nails and really understanding, you know, things like nail growth and you know what keeps them healthy, what keeps your cuticles healthy, these kind of topics, like for some reason, I don't know, like as a consumer in the beauty industry, I just don't see enough of the real robust conversation, you know what I mean?
- 1:26SPEAKER_00: So that's where I'm really fascinated with what you're doing because your product is so heavy hitting from that health perspective as well.
- 1:33SPEAKER_00: But I want to ask you, you know, if you can kind of tell us the journey of what made you create Radiant Cosmetics and what was your journey with your own, you know, um nail health and what led to this, this idea.
- 1:45SPEAKER_01: Yeah, so um, by the way, I totally agree with you.
- 1:48SPEAKER_01: I feel like nail care or nail cuticle oil is not really as popular.
- 1:52SPEAKER_01: It's not like a topic that's talked about um often.
- 1:55SPEAKER_01: And when I actually first created it, I was like, who is gonna buy nail oil, like cuticle oil?
- 2:00SPEAKER_01: Like who's gonna buy this?
- 2:02SPEAKER_01: And it's just crazy how the brand took off.
- 2:04SPEAKER_01: Uh, but so it started off with, you know, I would go to like monthly nail appointments and get acrylics on my nails and just always have like a fresh set every single month.
- 2:16SPEAKER_01: And over time, from all the filing and the buffing and constant visits, like my nails, the like quality went down so bad.
- 2:25SPEAKER_01: My nails were really thin, really damaged, and it was so hard to grow my nails like past my fingertips.
- 2:32SPEAKER_01: I remember taking a bunch of pictures um of my nails, and like it would not grow past my fingertips.
- 2:37SPEAKER_01: And every time it would try to grow, they would like break off because they were so thin.
- 2:41SPEAKER_01: And so I started Googling like what can help my nails grow.
- 2:46SPEAKER_01: And I found out that cuticle oil is actually really important and it really helps growing your nails, moisturizing your cuticles, increasing like collagen, and just helps your nails overall with its health.
- 2:59SPEAKER_01: So I began buying every nail oil on the market you can think of.
- 3:04SPEAKER_01: My room at my desk was just covered with nail oils from a million brands.
- 3:09SPEAKER_01: And I remember like I'd have a new box coming every day.
- 3:12SPEAKER_01: I was trying everything out.
- 3:13SPEAKER_01: And at this time in my life, I this is like about four or four years ago, I never thought about selling the product.
- 3:20SPEAKER_01: I just kind of was making it for myself.
- 3:22SPEAKER_01: And as I was using these products and you know, trying all the new nail oils that came out, I was just kind of looking at the ingredients one day, and I'm like, you know, Googling all the ingredients, I'm like, I don't know if I want to use these certain things on my nails.
- 3:36SPEAKER_01: A lot of the ingredients they weren't like my favorite.
- 3:39SPEAKER_01: And I started like kind of doing a deeper research into the cuticle oils I was using.
- 3:44SPEAKER_01: And that kind of led me into figuring out what ingredients actually will help grow your nails and to the fullest.
- 3:51SPEAKER_01: And so I kind of went on Google, did my research, and bought a bunch of ingredients, all natural ingredients, made sure every oil was organic, 100% pure.
- 4:02SPEAKER_01: And I started mixing things and trying like different formulas.
- 4:06SPEAKER_01: And so I would try those, try on like a different vial.
- 4:10SPEAKER_01: I'd pour it in these like little tubes I would buy on Amazon, like empty little tubes, and I would just fill them in and use it for myself in my bedroom.
- 4:17SPEAKER_01: And that was kind of you know, me creating something and trying it out, kind of like trial and error and seeing what formula I like the most.
- 4:25SPEAKER_01: And so I remember I wanted my nail oil to personally just to have through these three benefits of lengthening, strengthening, and brightening.
- 4:33SPEAKER_01: And I know I wanted those three because that's what I needed most help with my nails.
- 4:37SPEAKER_01: And so I kind of formulated something that had like a natural brightener in it, like no bleach, no chemicals, just a natural brightening agent.
- 4:45SPEAKER_01: And so I just made this amazing formula and I started applying it on every single night before bed.
- 4:51SPEAKER_01: And I would massage it in and go to bed, wake up.
- 4:54SPEAKER_01: My cuticles would be so soft, so nourished, just it was like like heavenly, like it was amazing.
- 5:02SPEAKER_01: And I remember TikTok, the app came out, and you know, I was just I hopped on there after my sister told me about it, didn't think much much of it, you know, just started posting a couple videos.
- 5:13SPEAKER_01: Um, nothing nail related, just like kind of makeup cosmetics.
- 5:18SPEAKER_01: So I was on live stream one day doing my makeup, and a couple people from my live stream saw my nails and they were like, Oh my gosh, you have such long nails.
- 5:27SPEAKER_01: Like, how what do you do?
- 5:28SPEAKER_01: How do you get long nails?
- 5:30SPEAKER_01: And I was like, Oh, well, I just have like this oil, and I made it at home and I use it every night, been doing it for a couple months, and they were just shocked.
- 5:38SPEAKER_01: They're like, I would literally buy that oil if you sold it.
- 5:42SPEAKER_01: And so that kind of got me thinking, I didn't think much of it, so I just kind of like kind of kept it in the back of my head.
- 5:49SPEAKER_01: And that whole week, my TikTok for you page was small business, small business, like a lip gloss business, a lash business.
- 5:56SPEAKER_01: And I'm just seeing all these like cute little packaging and like small business videos all over the for you page.
- 6:02SPEAKER_01: Like, I don't know why my algorithm chose to do that, but it did.
- 6:06SPEAKER_01: And then uh towards the end of the week, I'm like, okay, let me try to sell.
- 6:10SPEAKER_01: Let me just let me try to like tube a couple and see if people will actually buy.
- 6:15SPEAKER_01: So I made some extra tubes.
- 6:17SPEAKER_01: I bought some extra tubes on Amazon, filled it in with my oil formula, and put like five nail oils on a website I made for free.
- 6:25SPEAKER_01: I used like a free little website maker.
- 6:28SPEAKER_01: And then the next day I went on live stream and I was like, hey guys, like I know you guys have been asking me about my nails, and I put this oil on my website, the links in my bio.
- 6:36SPEAKER_01: You guys can check it out.
- 6:38SPEAKER_01: Literally within the first five minutes of the live stream, they I was sold out.
- 6:42SPEAKER_01: So all five sold, and I remember freaking out, like I just couldn't believe my eyes.
- 6:48SPEAKER_01: Like, who would have bought who would buy nail oil kind of thing?
- 6:52SPEAKER_01: So that's kind of how it all started.
- 6:54SPEAKER_01: And then once the five sold out, I kind of increased and I did 10.
- 6:58SPEAKER_01: And the 10 sold out the next time I went live.
- 7:00SPEAKER_01: So I just kept going live and telling people, hey, I restocked.
- 7:04SPEAKER_01: And so like I just kept on doing this until quantity started growing, demand was growing, and I moved to Shopify, a bigger platform, um, to start selling.
- 7:14SPEAKER_01: And TikTok just kind of like blew it up for me.
- 7:19SPEAKER_01: So I'm really thankful for TikTok, and it really has like changed my life.
- 7:23SPEAKER_01: Um, we started selling thousands and tens of thousands, and create it just like kind of blew up like crazy.
- 7:29SPEAKER_00: Oh my gosh, that is such a cool like beginning.
- 7:32SPEAKER_00: And I I mean it's so nice to hear that because I feel like you know, now we have these like brands that are so souped up, you know, that's the best way I can put it.
- 7:42SPEAKER_00: They're so like it's like they do all this marketing before they even launch like a solid product, you know.
- 7:47SPEAKER_00: And I always wonder, I'm like, well, where's the authenticity in all of this?
- 7:51SPEAKER_00: Because, you know, a lot of times as consumers, even though you didn't think like who would buy cuticle oil, it's like we don't know what consumers need till you give it to them.
- 8:00SPEAKER_00: And if you know, you have to have a really strong foundation to be able to like then go and say, hey, listen, I've really made something that works.
- 8:09SPEAKER_00: I'm gonna put it out there, you know.
- 8:11SPEAKER_00: And I I wish more people did that because those were always for me.
- 8:15SPEAKER_00: I mean, growing up and even in my adulthood, products that I ended up loving and they were tried and true for me were always the products that came from this really genuine place, you know, of like either somebody else getting frustrated and making something or like, you know, just doing their homework.
- 8:30SPEAKER_00: And I I see that even now in the industry, like a lot of like skincare products that I use.
- 8:35SPEAKER_00: Um, there are so many brands that started from this place of like either Reddit or, you know, some platform where they saw that a real need.
- 8:43SPEAKER_00: And people were, you know, they were responding to what many consumers were voicing, you know, their opinion about.
- 8:50SPEAKER_00: So that's really exciting to me that you that's those are your beginnings because uh yeah, I I think that really matters, you know, especially now.
- 8:57SPEAKER_00: The beauty industry is is more cluttered now than it ever has been before.
- 9:02SPEAKER_00: And um, you know, it's very rare to see truly like great products come out from a real need.
- 9:07SPEAKER_00: So I really applaud you for that.
- 9:09SPEAKER_01: Thank you.
- 9:09SPEAKER_01: I appreciate it.
- 9:10SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 9:11SPEAKER_00: So what were the I mean, I know you said you started creating it the oil, and what were the ingredients that you noticed in the you know, the products you were buying that you were like, I don't want this, you know, or I don't feel comfortable using these ingredients, or you know, if you can give us some examples.
- 9:28SPEAKER_01: I think it was mainly like products that are kind of like chemicals that have been lab grown and like there are items that are you know genetically modified and not natural.
- 9:37SPEAKER_01: And I believe in using natural products.
- 9:40SPEAKER_01: I I just believe that you know the earth is given, plants are given, and I I just think it's safer, it's cleaner, and I just don't know what people put in certain things.
- 9:51SPEAKER_01: It kind of makes me like have a guard up in using products.
- 9:55SPEAKER_01: So I kind of always like going the natural method.
- 9:58SPEAKER_01: And another thing for me was um the scent.
- 10:01SPEAKER_01: I always wanted like something that smells good.
- 10:04SPEAKER_01: I don't know about anyone else, but I love when products smell good.
- 10:07SPEAKER_01: I'm not heavily into the scent, but I like something that smells a little good.
- 10:11SPEAKER_01: So I made sure to add my favorite scent.
- 10:14SPEAKER_01: It's actually um all ingredients are 100% natural.
- 10:17SPEAKER_01: The only thing that I add extra is our cotton candy scent.
- 10:21SPEAKER_01: And it's uh it's actually an essential oil.
- 10:24SPEAKER_01: And I just put a couple drops of that, very little just for that scent, and it's amazing.
- 10:28SPEAKER_01: It's my favorite, and I love it, it makes it more pleasant when putting it on as well.
- 10:32SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it smells really good.
- 10:34SPEAKER_00: I really like it.
- 10:35SPEAKER_00: It like I the whole experience is very nice.
- 10:37SPEAKER_00: I mean, on the flip side, there's also oils I know for cuticle growth that I'm just like, oh my god, like this is terrible.
- 10:44SPEAKER_00: Like, what did you put in it?
- 10:46SPEAKER_00: You know, so I've had the opposite experience with some brands as well, and I'm just like, why?
- 10:51SPEAKER_00: I don't know what goes into creating really great cuticle oil, but some of them are just not they're not doing it, you know?
- 10:58SPEAKER_00: Like they're not doing it, it makes you want not want to use the products, but I really like yours, it's really nice.
- 11:02SPEAKER_00: And I also like the um the packaging that you chose because it's very convenient.
- 11:07SPEAKER_00: I can use it anywhere, you know.
- 11:09SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it's amazing.
- 11:10SPEAKER_01: I just came back from a trip.
- 11:11SPEAKER_01: I take it with me everywhere, it's perfect, it fits in my purse.
- 11:15SPEAKER_01: Um, it's so easy to use.
- 11:17SPEAKER_01: You just twist it and like the oil releases the perfect amount.
- 11:20SPEAKER_01: It it really makes the whole experience very pleasant.
- 11:23SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I I mean I I think it's brilliant.
- 11:26SPEAKER_00: And I want to know, like, what was the process like for you?
- 11:29SPEAKER_00: Like, you know, I know things have changed a lot now with independent brands, you know, in terms of like sourcing ingredients and finding the right packaging.
- 11:37SPEAKER_00: Like, what were those what was that like for you starting off?
- 11:40SPEAKER_00: Like, was it difficult to find the right packaging for you on Amazon?
- 11:44SPEAKER_00: Or I mean, like you walk us through that journey.
- 11:47SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 11:48SPEAKER_01: So I actually um I don't know why I thought about putting it in a pen in the beginning.
- 11:53SPEAKER_01: I don't know why I thought of that, but I kind of went on Amazon and I wrote like empty tubes for nails or something like that.
- 12:01SPEAKER_01: And I saw the brush tips on there and I was like, oh wow, that's kind of genius.
- 12:04SPEAKER_01: It might be uh better for me to use that instead of like the little droppers that there are.
- 12:09SPEAKER_01: So I kind of just bought like a small pack of like five on there, five or ten at a time.
- 12:14SPEAKER_01: And so in my bedroom drawer, I just had like five nail pens there, all for me.
- 12:18SPEAKER_01: I would just use them.
- 12:20SPEAKER_01: No idea, no thought of selling, just for myself.
- 12:23SPEAKER_01: And um it's so now instead of Amazon, I I actually get it from another company custom made now because all the money that I made for my business, I put back into my business, upgraded the tubes, added our logo.
- 12:38SPEAKER_01: Um, actually, we recently just did a rebrand, so our tubes are completely different, they're so completely solid and covered in pink, my favorite color.
- 12:48SPEAKER_01: And yeah, and so the packaging, the cards, the brochures, everything is just kind of upgraded.
- 12:54SPEAKER_01: I've always loved kind of a perfectionist little way.
- 12:58SPEAKER_01: I like my business is so much more to me than than just the money.
- 13:02SPEAKER_01: It's more like it's my passion.
- 13:03SPEAKER_01: I'm so passionate about nails and the packaging and the branding, all of that.
- 13:08SPEAKER_01: I do everything myself.
- 13:09SPEAKER_01: I don't have like a team of people to help me.
- 13:12SPEAKER_01: So I kind of source myself, find the packaging myself, place the order.
- 13:17SPEAKER_01: Everything comes in.
- 13:18SPEAKER_01: I kind of look at it, see if I like it.
- 13:19SPEAKER_01: If I don't, I reorder, but um it's you know, the final product.
- 13:23SPEAKER_01: If it makes me happy, um, then I'm good with it.
- 13:26SPEAKER_01: And it really does.
- 13:27SPEAKER_01: I we recently just launched, actually two days ago, our brand new tubes.
- 13:32SPEAKER_01: Um, and so far they're a hit and everyone loves them, so I'm really happy.
- 13:35SPEAKER_00: They're super you're gonna have to send them to me.
- 13:38SPEAKER_00: I have to see them.
- 13:41SPEAKER_00: Yeah, no, I mean that I can I love I just love the story of your brand.
- 13:46SPEAKER_00: Like it really like warms my heart because I I think that that genuine level like of just great products, like I don't know.
- 13:54SPEAKER_00: I think that's for me, it it drew always drew me in as a consumer was this like feeling of discovering a great brand that just came from a real place and then connecting with that journey, you know, of that brand and like what they were doing and and how it fit into my life.
- 14:08SPEAKER_00: I know I can tell you for a fact, you know, I never use uh nail oil.
- 14:13SPEAKER_00: So when you sent me yours, I was very, very excited because I'd already heard such great things, you know.
- 14:18SPEAKER_00: I'd heard amazing things through TikTok and I was like, oh, I can't wait.
- 14:21SPEAKER_00: And I remember um just you know, knowing what I knew, I the whole process was really fun for me as a consumer.
- 14:28SPEAKER_00: I was like, I love the pens and I love the way the nail, the oil actually feels.
- 14:32SPEAKER_00: It wasn't like thick and greasy and made my fingers greasy.
- 14:35SPEAKER_00: It's just everything was really nice, you know, and the user experience was amazing for me.
- 14:41SPEAKER_00: And so, you know, that really excites me when I see a brand do something that's truly like so well thought out.
- 14:48SPEAKER_00: And so I guess one of my biggest questions for you is when you were creating the formula, like, you know, what were some of the tried and trues that you found?
- 14:56SPEAKER_00: I mean, I know that you it was custom made by you, and you you don't have to share your formula with us, but just maybe an example of uh an ingredient or something that you used and you were like, this is it, something like kind of like a light bulb that might have gone off.
- 15:11SPEAKER_01: I yeah, I think it's like the mixture of the ingredients I have.
- 15:15SPEAKER_01: I really, really love um castor oil is one of ours, and I love that because it's actually the most penetrating oil ever for your skin for topical uh use.
- 15:26SPEAKER_01: So we have that biotin, liquid biotin.
- 15:29SPEAKER_01: I know a lot of people consume it, but it's really healthy for your nails, for your cuticles to absorb that biotin and collagen.
- 15:37SPEAKER_01: We have that vitamin E, very important.
- 15:40SPEAKER_01: We have jojoba, um sunflower seed.
- 15:43SPEAKER_01: It's just ongoing, all natural, and amazing for your cuticles, for your nails, for overall nail health.
- 15:50SPEAKER_00: So that's so cool.
- 15:52SPEAKER_00: I love that.
- 15:53SPEAKER_00: I mean, there's it really works.
- 15:55SPEAKER_00: I've never had like, I don't know, I'm not the person that has had severe issues with growing my nails, but I've definitely noticed how fast they grow if I use the oil.
- 16:05SPEAKER_00: Like they grow way faster and like they're really healthy and strong.
- 16:09SPEAKER_00: So I know for a fact whatever magic you worked, it really does work.
- 16:14SPEAKER_00: Like it's it's doing great things, yeah.
- 16:16SPEAKER_00: So if anyone listening out there, if you actually struggle growing your nails out, like this is a really great product because it kind of reminds me, you know, it reminds me of like when lash serums first blew up, like everybody had a lash serum, and it was so disappointing because there was like one great one and there were like 18 really bad ones.
- 16:36SPEAKER_00: And I I remember like everyone was like, Oh yeah, you know, lash serums are all the same.
- 16:40SPEAKER_00: No, they're not.
- 16:41SPEAKER_00: And it that's exactly what your your cuticle oil reminds me of is you know, is that is like it's a really great product.
- 16:48SPEAKER_00: And I feel like there's a lot of people out here that are selling, you know, nail oil that just doesn't do anything.
- 16:53SPEAKER_00: And I think the consumer space is just very it, you know, it's a disappointment when you when you keep trying products and you never see anything that works, it kind of disheartens you.
- 17:03SPEAKER_00: So I think that is also there.
- 17:05SPEAKER_00: That's also an aspect of your brand that I think when you experience it as a consumer, you're you're really blown away with oh my gosh, wow, it works, you know.
- 17:14SPEAKER_00: So very cool.
- 17:15SPEAKER_01: That means so much to me.
- 17:17SPEAKER_01: Thank you.
- 17:18SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 17:18SPEAKER_00: No, I want to ask you about like just entrepreneurship at such a young age, you know.
- 17:23SPEAKER_00: I I know that you know it's gotta be hard.
- 17:25SPEAKER_00: And obviously, monetarily for any indie brand, it's difficult to get going.
- 17:30SPEAKER_00: But what were some of the, you know, like maybe some more stories you can share with us about, you know, being young, uh being so young and starting a business.
- 17:38SPEAKER_00: And you know, I know there must be other aspects to your life that you maybe have had to, you know, put on hold or or kind of uh I guess not prioritize as much.
- 17:48SPEAKER_00: I know business, you know, a business really takes over when you start it.
- 17:51SPEAKER_01: So yeah, it totally.
- 17:53SPEAKER_01: I so you know, I felt like a slave to business for a while, actually.
- 17:56SPEAKER_01: Um I'm just learning now to kind of balance work, my obviously my personal brand, my business, my family, friends.
- 18:04SPEAKER_01: Um, and so it's not easy, but it's doable.
- 18:08SPEAKER_01: I believe if you set your mind to something you and you're passionate, you're you'll you'll be able to balance things because all of these things make you happy and you want a little bit of all of that.
- 18:18SPEAKER_01: Um, so I'd say I think I started when I was 19, my business.
- 18:22SPEAKER_01: And I was in school, I think my first year of college, I just got in and I launched in June of 2020.
- 18:32SPEAKER_01: And I my business took off within the first two, three months.
- 18:36SPEAKER_01: And I've been I saw like an incredible amount of sales where I actually dropped out of school that year.
- 18:43SPEAKER_01: So I feel sometimes because I started young and I didn't get to finish school, I don't know, I just feel like I'm not the brightest or this and that.
- 18:53SPEAKER_01: And you know, I always have family and friends telling me, no, like you're you you got this, like you have a business, you're smart, and all this.
- 19:00SPEAKER_01: I mean, I feel just very regular and I feel like I I kind of wanted to finish school, but it it was just kind of hard.
- 19:07SPEAKER_01: But I think Google, honestly, doing my own research has helped me a lot in everything, like how to start a website, how to source, uh, just all the how-tos on business, how to time manage like everything.
- 19:21SPEAKER_01: So I never really had a mentor or somebody to like kind of help me, but I think going on live, talking to people and building each other up, like they would build me up and inspire me, and I would do the same to them.
- 19:34SPEAKER_01: And that kind of like helped me grow in every way.
- 19:37SPEAKER_01: But there have there has been you know times in my business where I just kind of I had my breakdowns, I I've been overflowed with orders where I didn't know what to do.
- 19:47SPEAKER_01: I've had very little supply and too many orders, all the stress.
- 19:52SPEAKER_01: I remember the long nights.
- 19:54SPEAKER_01: Um, I'm so thankful for my mom.
- 19:55SPEAKER_01: She has helped me a lot.
- 19:57SPEAKER_01: She still does.
- 19:58SPEAKER_01: She's currently packing orders, by the way.
- 20:00SPEAKER_01: Um and she uh she's like my superhero.
- 20:04SPEAKER_01: She honestly really is.
- 20:06SPEAKER_01: She works so hard every single day.
- 20:09SPEAKER_01: Um, no one really sees her behind the scenes, but she's like everything to me.
- 20:13SPEAKER_01: But yeah, she's been there through thick and thin.
- 20:16SPEAKER_01: You know, when sales haven't been good, when sales have been extremely good.
- 20:21SPEAKER_01: So yeah, um, it's definitely a blessing, and I'm always grateful.
- 20:24SPEAKER_01: Never lose sight of that.
- 20:26SPEAKER_01: And I just hope to like grow and learn more every single year.
- 20:30SPEAKER_01: So yeah, so we're four years into it, and you know, I'm hoping for more amazing years, and I'm learning.
- 20:37SPEAKER_00: So no, I I I'm wishing you many, many amazing, successful years.
- 20:43SPEAKER_00: You know, I mean, you're you're really doing it, and you know, it's interesting to me because when I look at the newer generation, and you know, I've had this conversation with many people, I think there's a lot to be said about work ethic, you know what I mean?
- 20:58SPEAKER_00: And so I really applaud you for having such a strong, like, you know, drive and ambition because right now it's a changing world, and and we see a lot of people who, you know, they want the easy way to do things.
- 21:12SPEAKER_00: And it's and entrepreneurship is probably one of the hardest routes you can take in life.
- 21:16SPEAKER_00: I mean, it it's really literally creating your own roadmap in life.
- 21:20SPEAKER_00: You know, there's no blueprint, there's nobody telling you this is how you do it and this is how you succeed.
- 21:25SPEAKER_00: You know, it's just it is what it is, you know, it's a it's an individual journey and you have to find your way.
- 21:30SPEAKER_00: So the fact that you're doing that and you're you're really kind of hustling and you're doing your own thing.
- 21:35SPEAKER_00: I mean, that's there can be a lot said about that.
- 21:38SPEAKER_00: Because I see a lot of people, I mean, in the profession I'm in, even in medicine, you would think people have like a really strong work ethic, but they don't.
- 21:46SPEAKER_00: And the younger generations just don't seem to be getting it.
- 21:49SPEAKER_00: That you know, you have to work very hard, you know, and and it takes a lot of grind to get to anywhere in life.
- 21:54SPEAKER_00: So I really applaud you for that.
- 21:56SPEAKER_00: I think it's really beautiful that you're doing this and you're setting such a good Example, you know, for your generation.
- 22:02SPEAKER_00: So yeah, very excited.
- 22:04SPEAKER_01: Another thing I um is was really hard for me running this business is you know, I would see a lot of big businesses and I see a whole team, like a marketing team.
- 22:13SPEAKER_01: There's the the emails team, there's a social media team, uh the packing, just a huge team behind, you know, that do does campaigns, tracks all these sales, tracks insights, analytics.
- 22:25SPEAKER_01: Wow, I I never had any of that.
- 22:27SPEAKER_01: I don't have a team to like help me with you know marketing or this and that.
- 22:32SPEAKER_01: So I've been doing it myself for four for four years now, and that's kind of you know, doing everything by myself, not really paying for ads, and it was kind of hard, um, to be honest.
- 22:44SPEAKER_01: But, you know, I've always pushed through and I know this is my passion, this is my purpose, and I would give it my all always.
- 22:52SPEAKER_00: I really like that.
- 22:53SPEAKER_00: I mean, especially on social media.
- 22:55SPEAKER_00: I mean, how was that for you?
- 22:56SPEAKER_00: Like, you know, being on social media, I feel like now and growing something, especially a business, is like it I feel like people talk about it, but it's really hard.
- 23:06SPEAKER_00: I mean, how was that journey for you to create your social media presence?
- 23:10SPEAKER_00: I mean, it couldn't have been easy.
- 23:12SPEAKER_01: Um, it definitely wasn't easy, but uh it I I think being consistent is what helped me a lot.
- 23:18SPEAKER_01: I would post like six TikToks a day.
- 23:21SPEAKER_01: Um I'm not re bugging people with all the posts, but I knew I needed to do it in order to grow.
- 23:26SPEAKER_01: Um, consistency is definitely key.
- 23:29SPEAKER_01: And you know, authentic content, just being yourself.
- 23:32SPEAKER_01: I feel like nowadays everyone wants someone they can relate to and they want to follow someone that is just normal and like kind of down to earth and not really this influencer persona.
- 23:45SPEAKER_01: So I think it's really important that everyone just stays true to themselves and stays consistent and chases their passion for sure.
- 23:53SPEAKER_01: So I'd post like six videos a day.
- 23:56SPEAKER_01: Um, and I kind of I don't know, but I kind of blew up with my lip liner videos, I'd say that's kind of how I gained a little bit of a following.
- 24:04SPEAKER_01: Um, with like the enormous overline with the lip liner, and then obviously the nail growth oil, um, sharing my story, posting a video about it that took off, and I think it hit about three, four million views.
- 24:17SPEAKER_01: The first video of my nail oil, and that was kind of like wow, it's actually happening.
- 24:22SPEAKER_01: Like this is mine.
- 24:23SPEAKER_01: I can't believe it.
- 24:25SPEAKER_01: So, yeah, the mixture of the lip liner videos and the nail videos.
- 24:29SPEAKER_01: So, nail oil and lip liner, I'd say, is like what kind of got me my platform.
- 24:33SPEAKER_01: Um, and of course.
- 24:37SPEAKER_00: Yeah, that's really exciting.
- 24:39SPEAKER_00: I mean, I I wanted to ask you about your lip products because I like them very much, and I um it's interesting because right now we're living in I think a time where where lip color is turning, taking a turn for the best, I think.
- 24:53SPEAKER_00: Because recently so many brands have been coming out with more like nude shades and more like universal shades.
- 24:59SPEAKER_00: And I feel that it I for me as a consumer, I'm like, finally, you know, because for me, I could never find that perfect nude, you know, that perfect nude lip.
- 25:09SPEAKER_00: It was always a struggle.
- 25:10SPEAKER_00: And um, you know, for me, it was always about when you're talking about inclusivity when it comes to any kind of color product, you know, any kind of um, you know, complexion product or whatever has to do with matching people's skin shade, you have to really consider the nudes because those are the hardest ones to formulate.
- 25:28SPEAKER_00: And I know that the lip liner I've tried in your collection, I mean, it's a beautiful color.
- 25:33SPEAKER_00: So how was that?
- 25:34SPEAKER_00: How did you pick the the right shade?
- 25:36SPEAKER_00: And you know, how how was that journey for you?
- 25:38SPEAKER_00: Creating a lip liner and and lipstick as compared to like the nail um journey.
- 25:43SPEAKER_01: I definitely had a bunch of friends, um women of every skin tone, and just kind of trying it on them and seeing if they liked it, if they felt beautiful in it, and you know, myself as well, just trying out the formulas, see if I like it, see if it's long-lasting, see if these shades actually look beautiful on almost every skin tone, if not every skin tone.
- 26:05SPEAKER_01: So for me, I feel like I've created three beautiful shades of lipstick nudes that look great on every skin tone.
- 26:13SPEAKER_01: I made sure to do a photo shoot campaign and everything just to make sure it's perfect.
- 26:18SPEAKER_01: Um, I do want to do more shades in the future, but also I'll make sure they're all different.
- 26:23SPEAKER_01: So they're not similar.
- 26:24SPEAKER_01: I always see this in the beauty industry where there's, you know, a nude shade, but there's like 50 of that same kind of shade, and I don't see different undertones.
- 26:31SPEAKER_01: I don't see much of a change.
- 26:33SPEAKER_01: So I definitely want to make sure they're different and uh slowly we'll add more shades for sure.
- 26:39SPEAKER_00: That's so cool.
- 26:40SPEAKER_00: Yeah, no, I I mean I you're doing a great job though.
- 26:42SPEAKER_00: I mean, the colors are really nice, and I I really like the one that I use because it's a very nice everyday, you know, everyday kind of uh lip color and it's not crazy.
- 26:52SPEAKER_00: And I think we need a lot more of those kind of options because I mean I love that, you know, we live in a society now where everyone is so forward-minded and they're really putting out all these great makeup ideas, you know, on social media when it comes to like a full beat or whatnot.
- 27:08SPEAKER_00: But I've always felt like the real white space was for people like me where I'm going to work every day, you know what I mean, in a public setting.
- 27:17SPEAKER_00: I can't wear something very bold.
- 27:19SPEAKER_00: If I do, I just it just doesn't.
- 27:21SPEAKER_00: I mean, in medicine, you can't do that.
- 27:23SPEAKER_00: You know, I can't go into my patient rooms and wear crazy colors.
- 27:26SPEAKER_00: I just I wish I could, but I can't.
- 27:28SPEAKER_00: And um, you know, so for me, it's always been a pain point, this idea that, you know, I just want a lipstick I can use every single day, you know, and not think about it and not have to worry about it.
- 27:38SPEAKER_00: And, you know, trust it.
- 27:40SPEAKER_00: And and that's where I think that you're really, you know, I think you're doing the right approach and you're you're coming at it from an angle that is much needed rather than what the buzzy thing is to do, you know.
- 27:50SPEAKER_00: Um, and I really applaud you for that because I I feel like the younger generation love when we're young, we love our bold colors and our bold, you know, statements, and that's wonderful.
- 28:00SPEAKER_00: But to be able to be in, you know, in one generation and also cater to other generations is really um wonderful and it's phenomenal to be able to do that.
- 28:09SPEAKER_00: And you're doing exactly that.
- 28:10SPEAKER_00: So that's wonderful.
- 28:12SPEAKER_00: So what what's next for you?
- 28:14SPEAKER_00: What's next for the brand?
- 28:16SPEAKER_00: Like what do you have planned?
- 28:17SPEAKER_01: Um, so you know, we we just did a whole rebrand with the tubes.
- 28:21SPEAKER_01: Uh, we have a brand new look now.
- 28:23SPEAKER_01: Um, so hopefully, you know, I hope more people love it.
- 28:26SPEAKER_01: The new aesthetic, the completely pink tube.
- 28:29SPEAKER_01: And um, my goal is to actually sell in store one day.
- 28:33SPEAKER_01: I love Ulta, it's always been one of my favorite stores as growing up and um Target.
- 28:40SPEAKER_01: So my next goal is probably to get in store and be more accessible to people.
- 28:44SPEAKER_01: I know a lot of my customers message me that they want it in store, they don't want to pay for shipping.
- 28:50SPEAKER_01: And so I want to kind of make that make this for them and kind of get in stores.
- 28:56SPEAKER_00: Yeah, no, I think you definitely deserve to.
- 28:59SPEAKER_00: I mean, you have really great products, and you know, if there's anyone listening that's you know, you're affiliated with Ulta or or any big retailer, please, you know, let's connect and let's get you connected with Ruth because this is a great brand.
- 29:12SPEAKER_00: I mean, you've really built something beautiful, and I think that, you know, a lot of people will resonate with it, especially on on map on a mass level.
- 29:20SPEAKER_00: You know, it's it's really hard to find, like I said, universal products and things that everybody can kind of get attached to.
- 29:26SPEAKER_00: I mean, I won't lie to you.
- 29:28SPEAKER_00: I think some of my favorite products, especially things like uh lip liner and lipstick, I've used them down to like the literal packaging end, you know, like it's like I refuse to let go of them because it's like when you find something you really love, you don't want to let go.
- 29:43SPEAKER_00: And I and I really applaud you for going in this route, you know, because I think that's what you're doing.
- 29:48SPEAKER_00: I mean, from what I understand, you're creating like just staple products, you know, and that's really commendable.
- 29:55SPEAKER_01: Thank you so much.
- 29:56SPEAKER_00: I wish you the best.
- 29:57SPEAKER_00: Yeah, no, I wish you the absolute best.
- 29:59SPEAKER_00: And you know, I can't wait to see your brand grow.
- 30:01SPEAKER_00: I think you're gonna you're gonna do wonderful things.
- 30:03SPEAKER_00: So yeah.
- 30:06SPEAKER_00: Well, this was really fun for me.
- 30:08SPEAKER_00: Thank you so much.
- 30:09SPEAKER_00: And I I can't wait to watch Radiant Cosmetics, you know, go to great heights and and what you come up with next.
- 30:15SPEAKER_00: Um, I'm curious how your journey will evolve with TikTok.
- 30:19SPEAKER_00: I know a lot of changes are coming to TikTok and the social media space.
- 30:22SPEAKER_00: What what do you have anything planned for that?
- 30:24SPEAKER_00: Or how do you how are you approaching that with the whole TikTok ban and stuff?
- 30:29SPEAKER_01: Um, I'm a little bit scared, but I and I feel like knowing me, I will find another route.
- 30:37SPEAKER_01: I always will.
- 30:38SPEAKER_01: Like I know I'm gonna push through, whether it's Instagram or YouTube or another platform.
- 30:43SPEAKER_01: Um, I hope TikTok stays.
- 30:45SPEAKER_01: We're doing really great on there.
- 30:47SPEAKER_01: But uh, you know, if not, I will definitely find another route and make other ways work.
- 30:53SPEAKER_01: But yeah.
- 30:54SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 30:55SPEAKER_00: Yeah, you'll we'll see what happens, but I think you'll do great regardless, you know.
- 30:58SPEAKER_00: I think when you have a great product and you have a great idea, people will flock to it, you know, and they will show up for you and they'll always, you know, support that.
- 31:07SPEAKER_00: I know that TikTok, there's a lot of people that depend on TikTok.
- 31:11SPEAKER_00: And a lot of people I've spoken to that started their businesses there, but I mean, you know, I think when you have a great idea, it's gonna last.
- 31:18SPEAKER_01: So yeah, it's it's definitely changed my life for sure.
- 31:23SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 31:24SPEAKER_00: Well, I wish you the uh very best and I love your products and the nail oil for everyone listening.
- 31:29SPEAKER_00: It is truly, truly phenomenal, guys.
- 31:31SPEAKER_00: You gotta check it out.

- 31:47SPEAKER_00: I mean, you need to be taking care of your nails.
- 31:50SPEAKER_00: Can't stress that enough.
- 31:51SPEAKER_00: There's a lot of people that I see outside of the beauty space, you know, a lot of patients, and uh sometimes their nails, you can tell, you know, their nail health is not the best, and it can be due to many different things.
- 32:04SPEAKER_00: But if we can somehow help it with topical products, I definitely encourage that we do.
