- 0:01Welcome to authentic living with Roxanne, a place where we have conscious conversations
- 0:08about things that really matter in our lives.
- 0:12And now here's your host, Roxanne Derhodge.
- 0:39So I was born and raised in Guyana, South America.
- 0:42It's a Caribbean country.
- 0:44It's a South American country, and I am of Easternian descent, which means, I have
- 0:50heritage in India.
- 0:52And, Guyana is one of the only English speaking country in South America.
- 0:57And, and so I grew up in in a community where everybody's my relatives.
- 1:02It's, you're brought up in a community by all family.
- 1:06And, and, and so I've learned several things from that.
- 1:09And I think today, it helps me, that's I think I've been searching back living now in North
- 1:14America where everybody is pulling their own direction and and everybody's to themself.
- 1:20I think I have a my natural tendency is to find that community or created and without realizing
- 1:28I have created that community.
- 1:30And and now I do collaborative, books.
- 1:33I'm the publisher of the handbook to holistic health, and, I'm doing several other books
- 1:39collaborating with people like, owner Brown, the daughter of Les Brown, who's who did the
- 1:43foward for my last book, actually.
- 1:45And, I'm also co throwing with a guy named Brian Tracy, you might know him.
- 1:50He's written 80 books to date, and he's just exceptional.
- 1:55And but it wasn't all it wasn't all good for me growing up.
- 2:02I I had to learn the hard way to my parents or on Christian.
- 2:06They won't I I grew up in church, and, I grew up in politics.
- 2:11And then I moved to Canada, and I wanted to figure stuff on my own because of my politics,
- 2:16some half of the population think they're right, half think they're wrong.
- 2:20Religion you have segregation also.
- 2:22I'm like, this is so not cool.
- 2:25They must be something bigger.
- 2:27So I start charging for ants and figure out how can we live together in peace harmony and
- 2:33unity.
- 2:34And, I, I, attended school to be become a civil engineer that didn't quite work because, I
- 2:42can't seem to focus on something or do I don't like doing a subject in school that I know once
- 2:49I come out the door.
- 2:50This this is basically useless.
- 2:51So I kind of became an entrepreneur very early, by figuring out my own path, but, of course,
- 2:58it's not hard.
- 2:59Everybody wants to be an entrepreneur, but the beginning, the beginning stages are quite
- 3:04difficult.
- 3:05So I I did whatever job I could have done.
- 3:09I started working as a laborer in a warehouse, emptying containers, 4000 boxes a day.
- 3:15I did night shift.
- 3:16I do 2 job, 3 jobs.
- 3:18I deliver a newspaper, whatever I had to do to to to just keep revenue coming in, although you
- 3:24don't make any money delivering newspapers and people complain.
- 3:29So I I keep I did whatever job pays the bill and then on on weekends or evening, I take
- 3:35courses to develop self?
- 3:37How can I be better?
- 3:38And so in the warehouse, and this is where my claim to fame is from my YouTube videos, every
- 3:44time I was gonna leave a job, I did videos of it to remind myself of, hey, I did this, and
- 3:50I'm gone now, right, and just to be able to, a, I used to do that.
- 3:52People wouldn't understand.
- 3:54Actually, I have videos of it.
- 3:55Google my name.
- 3:56You'll see the videos.
- 3:58And I didn't I I post the videos up on YouTube just because I didn't have enough memory in my
- 4:05phone distorted video.
- 4:07I didn't I didn't realize what I was doing.
- 4:09And one day at the warehouse, a guy came in and was like, Hey, I know you.
- 4:12I'm like, okay.
- 4:14Tall guy, he has this fancy hairstyle.
- 4:16He's Jamaican.
- 4:17I'm like, no.
- 4:18I'd I'd remember you.
- 4:19And he's like, The next day he came back in the world is like, hey, man.
- 4:23I watch your YouTube video.
- 4:25That's how I learn how to operate a forklift.
- 4:27I watch your video online, went to the school, passed my exam, and boom, he walks into the
- 4:32warehouse I was still working at, and he met me.
- 4:35And he's like, yeah.
- 4:36Check out.
- 4:37He made me check out my own video on YouTube, and that's when I realize there's so many
- 4:44views.
- 4:44And that's when I keep I start posting more and take it taking it seriously.
- 4:49And and then I left the warehousing job.
- 4:51Well, I moved from a laborer to a forklift operator, a forklift operator to a truck
- 4:56driver, and then I became a a certified instructor and now I coach.
- 5:01I go into warehouse and and do coaching and and see if I can help in the supply chain solution
- 5:08because it's a chain.
- 5:09One bad system or department could ruin the entire profitability of the company.
- 5:15So I do that too.
- 5:16And and then when I moved to trucking, because there's more freedom out there, and it was more
- 5:21money for for hours, the the hourly rate was higher.
- 5:26And then I created my own trucking company.
- 5:29I started in construction, then I did long haul trucking all across the US and up pulling for,
- 5:35for pulling freights for the, big, auto, automaker and Amazon.
- 5:42And one night, I was driving 2, 3 in the morning, and I fell asleep at the wheel.
- 5:45And that's what that I almost died.
- 5:48I exited the highway.
- 5:49I'm like, what?
- 5:50There's a green light on the highway and I I swore.
- 5:54I I just had to yell and say something to wake my off up to, like, real I I don't know.
- 5:59I was in and out of consciousness and I drift off the highway and to to tell you the truth,
- 6:05this would happen a lot.
- 6:06And if you're driving on on the interstates on the highway, you will see the trucks wobbling
- 6:10at night, 2, 3 in the morning.
- 6:12The drivers are asleep thing and the rumble strip on the side of the lane, that's what
- 6:17wakes us up.
- 6:18Like, you will sleep drive and and because if if I don't deliver the load on time, I'll be
- 6:25penalized.
- 6:26And so I'll have to, and then there's rule If you pull over, you have to pull over for 10
- 6:30hours of the time to sleep.
- 6:32And and so If
- 6:33you pull over, you have to pull over for 10.
- 6:35You can't just pull over for 25, 35 minutes and redirect to get back on.
- 6:40So so the situation is, there's a thing called, logbooks.
- 6:45So you have, in a 13 hour period of a day, you can only physically drive for 11 of that 13
- 6:53hours.
- 6:54But from the time you say you're starting to drive, that's your time.
- 6:59You can't change it.
- 7:00If and if you're 13 hours, elapse.
- 7:03Even if you have an hour more to go, you're you're not driving that hour.
- 7:07You have to stop right where you are.
- 7:09Sleep 10 hours.
- 7:10Call a reset and then go again.
- 7:12So at 2 AM in the morning, I have to deliver at 8 AM, and I only have my set hours if I pull
- 7:20over an hour nap would be good, and I can go again, but I can't.
- 7:25If I pull over, I'm stuck.
- 7:26I'm not gonna be deliver I'm gonna be delivering 10, 12 15 hours later.
- 7:30And Right.
- 7:31And so you gotta keep going.
- 7:33And it was a lot of money over $10,000 a week in revenue.
- 7:37I own the company.
- 7:38I own the up, but I'm and then I'm like, hey, is this worth my life?
- 7:43I I could have been dead so many times over, and, even running off when a car, if you run
- 7:48off the highway, you should be fine with the airbags, the seat belt, whatever, but with a
- 7:53truck pulling £40,000 of load.
- 7:57That will crush you.
- 7:59That will crush you no matter what.
- 8:01So I sold the trucking company, and I got in to what I love.
- 8:05And in the in the transition stage, I met my health and wellness coach, doctor George Grant,
- 8:10and He's just amazing.
- 8:12When I met him first and he did a scan for me, being a truck driver eating junk food for
- 8:17breakfast.
- 8:17Long, dinner, not sleeping properly, and and and and being fatigued and living on the road,
- 8:24it it had a it had a very big toll on my life so I was stressed without knowing even my wife
- 8:31said, like, she we we wouldn't have a conversation.
- 8:33We'll be fighting all the time.
- 8:36And so it's just a blessing.
- 8:37It affects everything when the stress level goes up and being obese and overweight and and
- 8:42and cholesterol level was so high And my doctor said, uh-uh, 27, I I looked like a a fifty year
- 8:50old internally, and that's what scared me.
- 8:52I could basically die from a heart attack.
- 8:54And, like, what what what's what's then I ask myself, what good is a $1,000,000 in the bank,
- 9:02and I'm dead.
- 9:03Like, why am I working for this?
- 9:05So then I step back a bit and be like, Hey, you know what?
- 9:07I need to do, relax.
- 9:09I need to stay at home, not live on the road.
- 9:12Bring my I lost £30 over the 1st 3 months, working with my health and wellness coach, and,
- 9:18he he wrote 10 books already, and I always wanna write a book.
- 9:22So I'm like, hey.
- 9:23I have a great story.
- 9:25And you're pro at writing, let's let's do a book together.
- 9:28And he's like, 8 and we invited some of his colleagues who are professors and and and and
- 9:34and some of the students that are PhD students and we we started this, book together as called
- 9:39the handbook to holistic health, and, and it'll be launching, 6 months later this, this
- 9:45weekend, this Saturday, October 7th here in Toronto.
- 9:49And and the
- 9:51So in the book itself, because I, obviously, I don't have a copy the book, and I haven't read
- 9:58it, what what is it that, so it's all health care practitioners.
- 10:02They is the focused stress?
- 10:04So what is the focus of
- 10:05the book?
- 10:05Okay.
- 10:06So it's it's it's open.
- 10:07It's handled to holistic help.
- 10:09So there's 21 at different areas.
- 10:12People would speak thinking about different aspects.
- 10:16So Doctor.
- 10:16George Grant, he's a pro, so he kind of did a 8 to z principles to living your best life and
- 10:22just tips on health finances.
- 10:24He touched all across everything because he's so well studied, and, a few other quarters
- 10:30shared on how I'll I'll just read the overview of the book for for your audience, for our
- 10:35audience today.
- 10:36The handbook to holistic health features a lineup of 21 award winning authors from various
- 10:43health and wellness backgrounds.
- 10:45Yet all of them has one common message to share with you.
- 10:50That is there is an alternative natural holistic solution to your health issues.
- 10:57Most importantly, the authors are all against taking routine prescription medication, both
- 11:03for the obvious side effects and the potential significant financial burden to your entire
- 11:09family.
- 11:11So that's the overview of it, and each of the co author spoke, from their heart of their
- 11:16personal experience, what they have done to overcome that and, and what are their tips for
- 11:23you and point form easy to follow, do this, and you'll achieve.
- 11:27If I did it, you can do it kind of thing.
- 11:29And and and so
- 11:31So you learn a lot when you worked with Doctor Grant's.
- 11:35Right?
- 11:35Like, I mean, here, you're twenty seven years old.
- 11:37I mean, that's on your you're you're prime there.
- 11:39Right?
- 11:40Yes.
- 11:40And in a shark, how many how many years had you been trucking at that point?
- 11:45Oh, act sorry.
- 11:462 28 28?
- 11:49Well, between 27, 28.
- 11:50So I meant yes.
- 11:52Yes.
- 11:52Right?
- 11:53Yeah.
- 11:53At that point, you're your health should be optimal, I would
- 11:58say, at
- 11:58that point.
- 11:59Yeah.
- 12:01What's what kind of what kind of steps did you start?
- 12:05Did you work with Doctor Grant on your health?
- 12:06Is that why you Yes.
- 12:08Worked with him at that point?
- 12:09So he he pointed out trouble areas.
- 12:12He does this called a bio feedback scan is it's non evasive.
- 12:17It basically just it sends an electromagnetic calls throughout your body with less than a
- 12:22minute.
- 12:23It reads he put, he he he reads his computer program, and he tells you each aspect is I
- 12:29think it's 37 different part of your body from your eye to your heart, to your kidney, your
- 12:35lungs, your every part of your body, it re it gives you a reading, and it's very precise.
- 12:40And, it'll tell you where the issues are if something is very bad or and then he will
- 12:46recommend he recommend that I start exercising.
- 12:50There's 3 ways to lose weight and use most people try 1 or 2, and they don't do all 3 if
- 12:55you want the best result.
- 12:57And that is one is exercise, which everybody do but you don't see the result because you have
- 13:02to back it up by eating healthy, cut just reducing the fatty the the salts, the sugar,
- 13:09the crap, the the soda, the junk food, drink more water and and eat green vegetable raw is
- 13:16good.
- 13:16And, something that I found that worked for me.
- 13:19I was eating the same lunch every day.
- 13:21If you your body, if your body know what to expect, it it doesn't excite it's the body or
- 13:27or you don't get craving and you keep because every time you eat something different, I was
- 13:31like, wow, this is so good.
- 13:33I'm gonna go crazy on it.
- 13:35So what worked for me is 5 days in a row, I would stick to a routine.
- 13:39I will eat, oatmeal for breakfast, I'll eat, steamed vegetable and, baked chicken and or
- 13:47fish for lunch and dinner.
- 13:49I'll I'll probably eat the same or or I'll I'll I'll mix up the dinner a bit, but not anything
- 13:55too fatty or or carbohydrates.
- 13:57Stay away from rice and I'm Caribbean.
- 14:00You're Caribbean.
- 14:00You know, that's
- 14:01hard to stay with a roti.
- 14:03Yeah.
- 14:03It's it's tough.
- 14:04So now I do the whole wheat roti without any oil or anything of that sort.
- 14:09So it's it's really healthy.
- 14:11And then on weekends, I let the rip.
- 14:14I'm like, go and eat the most unhealthy thing, treat yourself, and you will see, I realized
- 14:20because of the contrast, and I I wanna tell you, try this.
- 14:26Do do the 5 days of of discipline and and following through, and we can go wild because
- 14:33what?
- 14:33The 1st 2, 3 days of the week when you'll you would have reversed the weekend effects, and
- 14:39then you still have 2, 3 days of positive effects and and and your mental mind knows
- 14:44that, hey, on the weekend, I can do and before you know it, you don't you don't want the fatty
- 14:49food and more.
- 14:50You eat it and you just feel bloated and and can't move.
- 14:53And the third thing, which is one of the main thing that, I got from George Grant is is is
- 15:00recommending great vitamins.
- 15:02There's so many things out there and and and the pharmacies and some of things like Centrum,
- 15:09it's it's used.
- 15:10You you think, oh, I get my multivibrin.
- 15:12Great, but the studies with Centrum is the way you put it in is the way it comes out.
- 15:16You body doesn't use it up, but I don't wanna, sorry, I shouldn't even mention any brands,
- 15:21but, I shouldn't do that.
- 15:24And, so what I phoned the products, he recommended it to me.
- 15:29I used it for 3 months and start and I saw our results.
- 15:33It's 6 months.
- 15:34It's 5 6, 7 months now.
- 15:36I'm still using the products, and it's keeping me.
- 15:39And not only does it help me maintain my weight, it my energy level, I can eat now and
- 15:45not feel sleepy later.
- 15:46I have a sustained energy level, and that's something that he helps to it.
- 15:50And I'm very honored, to have him as a health and wellness coach, and I do mention him in the
- 15:57book.
- 15:57He also contribute there, of course, along with 20 other amazing co author, inclusive of, the
- 16:04daughter of Les Brown, the Doctor.
- 16:06Ohne Brown and she's not a medical doctor, but she's a PhD, and she got an honorary PhD for
- 16:12her work.
- 16:13And, So she contributed on her dad overcoming overcoming cancer, actually living with cancer
- 16:2220 years on what they had to do, what they did use traditional medicine and holistic medicine
- 16:29on a combination to keep him going and He's in his best shape ever.
- 16:33He's not best shape ever, but he's traveling the world speaking.
- 16:36And I
- 16:36wanna read quickly his, her, own a brung, Les Brung did a forward for us, and I wanna read
- 16:42that out quickly for you so you have an idea what's coming from him.
- 16:46Here is some of what Les Brown rolls, the world's number 1 motivational speaker has to
- 16:51say about this book in his forward.
- 16:54I am so happy for the collaboration between my daughter, Ohna Brung and Raymond Harlow.
- 17:02You are going to learn many strategies in this book to heal your body, stay healthy
- 17:08holistically, and how to keep your mind and spirit strong in the process.
- 17:14And that's just one paragraph Well, of course, he mentioned my name, so I put that on the
- 17:19back.
- 17:20That's one paragraph of two or three pages that Les wrote, and he said, read my doctor's
- 17:26chapter, which is chapter 1, and you will hear more about his struggle.
- 17:31So it's it's it's just an honor.
- 17:33It's it's from the heart.
- 17:34Everybody here has personal, things that they have overcome in the book, and I wanna really
- 17:41encourage your, audience, Roxanne to to come out or even if they're in the Toronto area.
- 17:47We have.
- 17:47So so let's one thing I I you didn't really mention, but maybe I'm sure it's in the book.
- 17:53You talked a lot about your your stress path.
- 17:56And we know that today and today's day and age, you know, the stress is on it's it's ever
- 18:01mounting.
- 18:02We know that you know, depression is a number one concern in the with the World Health
- 18:08Organization, anxiety and depression.
- 18:11We see a lot more suicidality on the, on on the rise with, young people.
- 18:16So there's so many, you know, the pressures I often say, you know, it's not like, like, when
- 18:21my ancestors and, you know, they were in cane fields and they were using their physical, you
- 18:26know, were out of that stage where it's, it's not that people aren't doing as much physical,
- 18:31but we're we're obviously using our brain.
- 18:34Like, think of what your day is like or what my day is like, Raymond we're constantly over
- 18:39taxing our brain and emotions and our thoughts because that's where that's that's that's our
- 18:44tools today.
- 18:45Yeah.
- 18:46Especially with, with social media, technology, living in a big city like Toronto, there are so
- 18:51much going on, and I know I don't like big city.
- 18:54Because when I go to New York City, I I just lose it.
- 18:58I I love the countryside.
- 18:59I grew up as a kid in the countryside, and I enjoyed seeing the tree.
- 19:04When I see green trees, that's when I'm the most creative.
- 19:08And, and, and to answer your on stress and how our audience can basically get over that.
- 19:15I just did a live in Facebook interview.
- 19:18I want you to come over to my Facebook channel.
- 19:21Raymond Harlow.
- 19:22Just it's open.
- 19:23You'll go there and of all the 21 co author.
- 19:26I have been, for the last 2, 3 weeks, I have been interviewing everyone live on Facebook.
- 19:32And just today, just before I came on to this this, podcast here with Roxanne.
- 19:38I was on with Haley Patrick, and and she's a young lady.
- 19:42She's a coach.
- 19:43She's a mentor, and she just give out those strategies.
- 19:46So I'm not taking the credit for this, but the first thing she says, we need to get our
- 19:50priorities right.
- 19:52That is you need to 1st make a list of what you're doing for yourself.
- 19:56Like today in entrepreneurs, we forget about us.
- 20:00And we work 20, 40 hours a day, maybe, if possible, doing multitasking, doing a hundred
- 20:06things at the same time.
- 20:07If you're driving and you're talking on the phone, you're you're multitasking, but as
- 20:12entrepreneurs, we do that.
- 20:13We have to do 3, 4 things at the same time, to make the ends mean and her, I think her first
- 20:19thing that she said to do is first put your put yourself first second is is your loved one,
- 20:26your husband or your wife, or or your partner, whatever it is, that person that that that if
- 20:31you're in a bit, business together, the 2 of you need to have time yourself and she spoke
- 20:36about something so interesting.
- 20:37She had three little boys.
- 20:39She says she may individual time for each of the 3 of them every week.
- 20:45She literally said she went to Starbucks three times that day because he she took one she and
- 20:52her husband, Jeremy, they took 1 of the sun to Starbucks, bring him back.
- 20:57The so they that was like, so powerful.
- 21:00Almost no one do this.
- 21:02We just throw all the kids in the bus and say, okay, here we go.
- 21:06And when they fight, you stop at your older kind of thing, and and that was so powerful.
- 21:13So she authorize herself, then her husband, then her her kids, then she said she look after
- 21:20money and and her her income and her business.
- 21:23And I think that's that's that's the secret to to having a good life because we have we have
- 21:29to step back and ask ourselves, why is it that we're doing all of this?
- 21:32Because we want we wanna have a happy family life And and that's that's the whole goal.
- 21:37We all get up every morning and to go work, and that's what make us happy.
- 21:41And we need to prioritize in in a plane when when the air host or the pilot set in case of,
- 21:47of turbulence, make sure you put the mask on yourself first because you're gonna, you're
- 21:52gonna die.
- 21:53You can't help anyone without it.
- 21:55So same principle, put the mask on yourself first, put attention on yourself first, start
- 22:02loving yourself, whatever that means to you, but whatever of it, it's it's personal hygiene,
- 22:07get a haircut, shave a spa day, whatever it is.
- 22:11You need, we all need this.
- 22:13I do this.
- 22:14You need this.
- 22:15And and I think all successful people do that, Roxanne.
- 22:19Absolutely.
- 22:20And, you know, with burnout and, and, are mental, like you said, if we're constantly on
- 22:26when we're away and we are not maximizing, the benefit of our potential first, then what's
- 22:33left at the you're right.
- 22:37Most entrepreneurs, work a lot more, sometimes in having a, you know, a job, sometimes you
- 22:43start, you know, you started a you get home by 6:30 and you're done.
- 22:47And oftentimes, like yourself and myself, there may be other things that you're doing past that
- 22:52time.
- 22:53You may not be in the office, but you're you're you're in the office at home when you're doing
- 22:58lots of different things.
- 22:59So I think you're so right, and that's why I think there's been a depletion now because we
- 23:03don't have that start and stop, to our days and our days and our homes.
- 23:08Days of work and days at home are blending into in to each other.
- 23:12We're consistently connected.
- 23:15A lot of times with the coaching that I do, a lot of people are not disconnecting, and
- 23:19they're not They're forgetting why they're doing what you they're doing.
- 23:22Absolutely.
- 23:23Right?
- 23:23You know, because, you know, initially, we think entrepreneurs wanna make more money
- 23:27really, like you said, you could have a $1,000,000 and you could be, you know, have run
- 23:32off that road that day and be disabled.
- 23:34And what would that be worth to you and your family
- 23:37right on.
- 23:38Yeah.
- 23:38It's it's it's very important that we have our priorities right and have a master plan as as
- 23:45to what we wanna achieve in life and how on the roadmap to get to it, we have to make sure we
- 23:50get to it the right way.
- 23:52So, you know, I'm curious about.
- 23:54Right?
- 23:55With younger people, right, and you're younger, you know, you'll hear a lot of people being
- 24:01very disillusioned of people coming out of universities and stuff like that.
- 24:05The younger generation are feeling like, you know, gone are the days in my generation.
- 24:10Obviously, you're a different generation than me, where you'd get out and people would e
- 24:14whether they went to university or not, they would get out.
- 24:17They would have that job that would be secure for 30 years.
- 24:20With myself.
- 24:21It was kinda go out, get educated, and you'll have a career.
- 24:24And now in this day and age, there's a lot of, lot of really young people that are coming out
- 24:30say, university, or and not being able to get a job that could kind of sustain a lifestyle to
- 24:36even help them start out.
- 24:38So you're a younger guy.
- 24:39You're out there in the world.
- 24:40What would you say to young people that are just getting started?
- 24:44That's an amazing question, Roxanne, because that's my true passion.
- 24:49To go into high school.
- 24:50So the book, the fine I'm writing.
- 24:53I'm still working on this book called the handbook to find freedom by 30.
- 24:58So in this book, I wanna share in your twenties you can have basically, I wanna share this to
- 25:06kids that are not twenty years old yet so they can just have an a head start that decade that
- 25:14I had to invest in seeking out the answer, starting doing any kind of jobs, finding out
- 25:20the secret signing up for network marketing, figure out which works, what doesn't work, how
- 25:26I can use it, tailor it to the best of my abilities.
- 25:30And, what I've learned well, of course, time has changed.
- 25:33It's not it's not about that secure.
- 25:36There's no more job secured and which is why it's worth your time and effort as a young
- 25:42person to start building if you're in high school, you're living with your parents.
- 25:50They're paying all the bills.
- 25:51They're probably paying a phone bill.
- 25:52You have no rent.
- 25:53You have no car insurance.
- 25:55You have no child to board.
- 25:56You have no mortgage.
- 25:58And that age in high school, I believe, every young child, every high schooler in in their
- 26:04senior year, should actually get a job.
- 26:06Even if you take an extra year to get out of high school, get a job that gets you to to
- 26:12kinda integrate with real real world because in high school, all they teach you is like, do the
- 26:18university course if you're gonna go to university.
- 26:21It's it has a UN in the letter, if you're going to college, do the do the college level, and
- 26:26and and and that's it.
- 26:29But I believe, people needs young people need to know what's going on in the world in the
- 26:34real life, and that's the time.
- 26:36And and at grade 12, I had 12, $13,000 in my bank account.
- 26:41I remember a couple of my, my classmates, got into trouble because they kinda went in my
- 26:46backpack and like, oh my god.
- 26:48You have all this money and the trip kicked them out of the class or something.
- 26:53And and so I think that's one of the time I was most wealthy because in terms of cash flow, no,
- 27:02I was not paying anything out.
- 27:04I was just whatever.
- 27:05I was working minimum wage, but I was saving all of it.
- 27:08And as an adult, and most of Canada now, we're actually spending more than we're making.
- 27:14And then there's no job security, we're competing against the computers and and AI
- 27:21artificial intelligence is even getting worse.
- 27:24And and then large cooperation or outsourcing also going to 3rd world countries.
- 27:30So we have to be creative.
- 27:31We have to be creative and and create something as entrepreneurs you just have to find a
- 27:38solution to a problem that will help people and and add a put a value to it and and and hey,
- 27:45you have this problem.
- 27:46I can help you fix it.
- 27:48You're losing 10,000.
- 27:51You pay me 5000.
- 27:52I'll fix the problem.
- 27:54It's like you're a solution person.
- 27:56You you're basically finding a solution to a problem and and not only are you finding a
- 28:03solution?
- 28:03It's most cost it's more cost effective, and and that's what it's all about.
- 28:08But you have to do, three things of the same time, actually.
- 28:12You have to have a regular job to pay your bills.
- 28:15You have to also invest in yourself because that job you can have get fired any day or the
- 28:20job can be outsourced any day or replaced by computers any day.
- 28:24And most importantly, you have to do self development.
- 28:28The best investments you can do or or give yours or do in the world is yourself, the more
- 28:35you know, the more powerful you are.
- 28:38We don't know what we don't know.
- 28:40So we need to keep a learning, moving up the ladder, and then go after your passion.
- 28:46I see people.
- 28:47Their parents force them to be doctors or a lawyer.
- 28:51Or an accountant.
- 28:52And when they're 40 or 50 or they have retired, that's when they're like, they went back to the
- 28:58thing of their childhood dreams, because when we're in grade school, when we're in
- 29:02kindergarten or, or of grade 1 or 2, when her teacher's like, what do you wanna be?
- 29:06All the little boys wanna fireman.
- 29:08The little girls wanna be teachers, nurses, and that's a passion.
- 29:12And sometimes it's suppressed by expectation.
- 29:16And what what we learned from subliminal messages, and that's something I wrote in this
- 29:21book how how we're being affected by television, billboards and all of that.
- 29:25So it's more very deep stuff that we take in subliminally and that's messing us up, to
- 29:31confirm, to society and and loss or identity kind of thing.
- 29:36So, I went a little bit deep there, but So the one thing you wanna do is get a regular job to
- 29:43survive in the real world.
- 29:44Any job, it pays money.
- 29:46Cash flows just do it.
- 29:472, you wanna invest in yourself, so you can create your own passion, whatever.
- 29:53There's always money, and that's something I learned from being a YouTuber.
- 29:57On YouTube, you can find everybody could be a star.
- 30:00You can teach people how to clean the toilet and you have millions of you.
- 30:04Somebody needs to learn to do everything or change a light bulb change a a doorknob and and
- 30:08you'll have a million view over time.
- 30:10If you're the doorknob guy, the people will come to you.
- 30:13And the forklift guy, people come to me and the warehouse guy and how to drive a truck and
- 30:18operate a excavator.
- 30:20So I have young guys my age all around the world to say, hey, man, Thank you.
- 30:25Just like the story I started with, the per the guy that came in person by every day I get
- 30:30random messages from Africa, India, wherever not from China because I don't think they have
- 30:35YouTube or allowed to use YouTube there, but that's a blessing.
- 30:39That keeps me going because realize what I'm doing is not for me or my gain is the fact that
- 30:44I can help somebody change their life.
- 30:46A total stranger.
- 30:47I just add value in the world.
- 30:49That's my gift back.
- 30:50It's life.
- 30:51And then I I donate, I I now get paid by Google between 3.50 to 500 every month.
- 30:58And I I I I set aside a fraction of that to sponsor a child in Africa, and his name is, his
- 31:07name.
- 31:08How can I forget his name right now?
- 31:10But he he's eleven years old.
- 31:12The reason I choose him is because I search by birthday and I search my birthday and his
- 31:17birthday was the same.
- 31:18And I'm like, you know what?
- 31:19There's no difference.
- 31:21Like, that could have been me.
- 31:23So that keeps me garunged it.
- 31:24No.
- 31:24Matter what I do, the 40 or 50 bucks has to come out of my my account and go there.
- 31:31And even if I don't, I don't know, I'll never op it because it keeps me grounded and I know
- 31:38it's it's me helping somebody else and there's no difference in a soul we've we've all came on
- 31:44the org, and and we can make a difference.
- 31:46We need to first help herself so we can help others.
- 31:49And and one more thing I wanna share in financial freedom is is you wanna create
- 31:54something that that actually that's not that doesn't depreciate.
- 32:02Most young kids wanna get a cool gadget or buy a car.
- 32:06Everybody think when I save my money.
- 32:08I wanna buy a car.
- 32:09Stop buying cars with your money as soon as I'm a car salesman.
- 32:13I, I have my I'm actually opening, dealership, to do more wholesale work and train sales
- 32:21people.
- 32:22So but a car, everybody wants it.
- 32:24They're nice and shining as soon as you drive out the lot, you just paid 13% tax on that, and
- 32:31it's a consumption tax.
- 32:33That this is peers.
- 32:34The 13% on top of it.
- 32:37Oh, pay 200 bucks a a week, whatever, or 2 weeks.
- 32:40You don't know what you're getting into especially if you're paying you're you're
- 32:44you're paying interest on this loan, then it depreciates, then the car wear and tear like,
- 32:51it's you're gonna lose in battle.
- 32:53Like, your $20,000 car is worth 5005,06 years.
- 32:58However, if you can buy a property, which which is what rich wealthy people do, which is what
- 33:04the banks do.
- 33:05The bank invests in property.
- 33:07It's called real estate for a reason.
- 33:09It's real estate.
- 33:11Like, it basically, goes up in value.
- 33:14It's an an asset that no matter what, there's population.
- 33:19The world is growing.
- 33:20There's less place to live.
- 33:21So land is of value.
- 33:23And no matter what, if the banks are invested in it, and the banks are to be making money.
- 33:28Some people say, who is the illuminati?
- 33:30And these guys are so powerful, and the bankers take Forget about that stuff.
- 33:35Stop reading all these things on in the internet.
- 33:38First, take care of yourself.
- 33:40What's going on in your life?
- 33:42Can you pay your bill as you get bigger and bigger, then go look for that answer.
- 33:46You can't fight those guys.
- 33:48The bankers, the I'll the guys in the aisle industry.
- 33:52It's not your business.
- 33:53Stay out of it.
- 33:53First, fix your problem of of of being of staying of sustaining yourself and your family,
- 34:01and then actually, that should never be your problem unless you're you're you're looking
- 34:06open a bank or or having an oil well, that's then those guys are your issue, but you wanna
- 34:12have a job.
- 34:13Being an employee is good, serve you, Lauren, chain if you're young, change your job every
- 34:18year or 2, you stay in longer for than 2 year on your job.
- 34:21You're not gonna get erased, but inflation goes up.
- 34:24So you're get getting poorer and poorer every day if you understand inflation.
- 34:29If you don't, just Google it, look it up.
- 34:31It's on YouTube.
- 34:32You can find that.
- 34:34And and create something.
- 34:36Goo YouTube learn talk is something else too.
- 34:39I did the work.
- 34:40I accidentally got to become a YouTuber and with all these views because I told you I just
- 34:45upload it and let let it stay there.
- 34:48But now the check never stop coming every month.
- 34:51I got money into my bank account.
- 34:53Do I deserve it?
- 34:56I don't know.
- 34:57I guess so.
- 34:58They're paying me.
- 34:59So I take it, but I I I do I do charity work.
- 35:02And in my book, I can't be $1 for every book that I publish, and I'm a publisher to go
- 35:08toward charity also.
- 35:10And, and just on the Friday before our event.
- 35:12We're going downtown Toronto, giving out socks to the homeless people because it's wintertime
- 35:17and and and sharing a meal with them.
- 35:19It's not the brag about but we're doing it from our heart.
- 35:23That's that's amazing story, Raymond.
- 35:26You know?
- 35:27And I think the whole concept about, you know, taking care of yourself first, you know, we
- 35:32teach academics, but do we de ready teach people to, to go internally.
- 35:38And I think that's the gift that, you know, in your message I'm hearing is that do that first
- 35:44Yes, you, you're like everybody else.
- 35:45We all had to get jobs and figure it out at first.
- 35:49And, if you're in a career track, good for and you love something.
- 35:52Find your passion.
- 35:54Mhmm.
- 35:54And and that's the important thing.
- 35:55Because you never run out of energy when you're doing what you're passionate about.
- 35:58Like Oh,
- 35:58no way.
- 35:59For a while, you're like, okay.
- 36:01But when it's something for someone else, eventually catches up with you and then find
- 36:06that path.
- 36:07There is, like, you're right.
- 36:08Yes.
- 36:08The world is changing, but we are in the best point in the world because anything is
- 36:12possible.
- 36:12Wow.
- 36:12You know, that we can create whatever we want.
- 36:18You know, here you are from, you know, South America and from just above the equator, you
- 36:24know, you know, in Little Islands with, you know, immigrant parents, myself, they were
- 36:29from, mostly India, like yours as indenture laborers go to the Caribbean.
- 36:33My grandparents on the one side were King Farmers, illiterate.
- 36:38And on the other side, they were merchants.
- 36:40They were more from the Middle Eastern element.
- 36:44But, like, at the end of the day, they worked hard then eventually, you know, wanted better.
- 36:50So, you know, the generations kind of got educated, and then eventually, you know, I was
- 36:54privileged to be able to kind of I was a foreign student that got sent away to come to
- 37:00school.
- 37:00So you're,
- 37:01you're so right.
- 37:01It's the belief, right, to go from that path when I wrote my book and I talk about my
- 37:07background, you know, that's 2 generations ago that, that was occurring and what's possible
- 37:13today.
- 37:14So I that breeding that whole concept of anything is possible.
- 37:18It really, the biggest asset that we all have is our our mindset or our brain, and the the
- 37:23more that we work on that, what a gift that we give ourselves, and in turn, we give the gift
- 37:28to of everybody around us, to be able to benefit from the things that we do daily.
- 37:34So tell them about how they could get tickets for your your the power of collaboration.
- 37:38That's gonna be this Saturday.
- 37:41It's going to be, in Markham.
- 37:43So is there a website, Raymond that they could go to if people are, I'm gonna be there.
- 37:49I am come to, you know, check out the the launch and spend some time with Raymond and his
- 37:56colleagues.
- 37:57Where can they get tickets and where they can be bought by the book?
- 38:02Yes.
- 38:02So the book will be available at our book line event in Toronto.
- 38:08Actually, Markham, if you're local and the address
- 38:14is We actually have a caraway, but it's, it's 7095 Woodbine Avenue, Mark, And it's at the
- 38:23court la Courtyard Marriott by Hotel Toronto Northeast.
- 38:28Right.
- 38:28It's
- 38:28on the ticket here that I have.
- 38:30Yes.
- 38:31So we would I would welcome meeting anybody that's listening and, you know, come out.
- 38:37You're gonna be Doctor Oona Brown.
- 38:39I'm also, was able to speak, with Les Brown.
- 38:44Yes.
- 38:45York in December, Alka Sharma, who I personally know because I met her in New York, and, Jim
- 38:52Heatherington is there.
- 38:54Daniel Martini.
- 38:55Mart Martin sorry.
- 38:57James McNeal and Cora Cristobal.
- 39:01And, of course, Rick will be there.
- 39:02Of course.
- 39:03Amongst lots of other, people that are in the book.
- 39:07So you're in
- 39:07a a place where you're surrounded by people that are into health and wellness.
- 39:11What a gift after all the things that we talked about today.
- 39:15So, Raymond, is there anything that you want to say before I let you go?
- 39:19Yes.
- 39:19So do the whole idea is we can't all do everything by ourselves, and everything is not
- 39:28for everyone, but something is for someone.
- 39:31And, see whatever your dream, vision, mission, ambition is, whatever you will know from deep
- 39:37dung in your heart, and that's all.
- 39:40You need to set a goal as to what the path that you want your life to take or and just keep
- 39:46your eye on the end result.
- 39:48Just have a a good enough reason why All you gotta know is your why and and set that
- 39:55authentic, ambition and goal and it will come to you.
- 40:00The universe will basically conspire and have it come to you.
- 40:04You know why?
- 40:04I'll give you a real life example.
- 40:06Is if you buy a brand new car today or whatever car you buy today, you only see those cars on
- 40:12the road forever.
- 40:14Like, damn, there's another one.
- 40:16Before you bought that car, you never saw those cars before.
- 40:19They were there, but it's it's it's just just how it works is is now your senses are turned
- 40:25up to that.
- 40:26Similarly, and this is real.
- 40:28I just prove it to you.
- 40:30Similarly, put your eyes on a goal that you wanna achieve and those similar people and it
- 40:38will be a they will be attracted to you.
- 40:40It's it's it's just how it works.
- 40:42You don't have to know about how every how you gotta know why your personal why and your
- 40:49reason to get there, and you will achieve your goal.
- 40:53Amazing stuff.
- 40:54This has been you've been very inspiring young man.
- 40:58And and I look forward to spending some time with you, on Saturday.
- 41:03And, you know, when when we think about it, it it's not about age here.
- 41:06It's about, passion.
- 41:08And, you know, I think about you know, we all have something, and it's it doesn't all we
- 41:15don't all have to be an entrepreneur, but we could be wanting to be the best parent or the
- 41:20best neighbor or the best community person out there, whatever your why is to winds point.
- 41:27Just go out there.
- 41:29Remember why you're doing what you're doing.
- 41:31Focus your time.
- 41:32Take care of yourself.
- 41:34That's the important thing when you go your goals and to recognize that if, you know, if
- 41:39you take care of yourself, in a way that allows you the health, that actually, you take a step
- 41:45daily, you know, one step in front of the other.
- 41:49That's all it takes.
- 41:50And some days, you're gonna go, oh, boy.
- 41:52I think get very far.
- 41:53And then sometimes one step kind of pulls you into a situation where you're like, wow.
- 41:58How did I get here?
- 41:59That's 3 65 days.
- 42:00And then a year.
- 42:01And before you know it, you're in a space where you're surrounded by what you want and always
- 42:07keep dreaming, you know, to Raymond's point, kids dream all the time.
- 42:12We lose it as we grow up, but stay connected to what you what's important to you.
- 42:16So for anyone wanting more, in information on me and, be authentically connected to yourself
