  Speaker 1: Let's talk a little bit about the Sioux Falls Regional

  Speaker 1: Labor Federation. How long have you guys been around?

  Speaker 2: Yeah, so we've been an organization actually since nineteen oh two,

  Speaker 2: that is when our constitution was made, so we've been
• 0:40
  Speaker 2: around for quite a while. I've been president since January
• 0:44
  Speaker 2: of this year, and we've been extremely busy putting non
• 0:48
  Speaker 2: different events, promoting all of our unions in town, putting
• 0:52
  Speaker 2: on different educational and visiting with candidates as well. You know,
• 0:56
  Speaker 2: we've got the election coming up, so been a very
• 0:58
  Speaker 2: busy year. And I wouldn't have it any other way.

  Speaker 1: Now you've got your annual Labor Day picnic. It's Sunday,
• 1:05
  Speaker 1: the thirteenth of September one till three Cobalt Lake Park.

  Speaker 1: And this is something you guys have done for a while.

  Speaker 1: What kind of things can people expect if they say, hey,
• 1:12
  Speaker 1: I want to go check this out.

  Speaker 2: Yeah, So what we're going to have that day is

  Speaker 2: we will have a couple of different speakers. We like

  Speaker 2: to usually promote union members to come and speak on
• 1:23
  Speaker 2: behalf of Labor Day and all the workers around the country.

  Speaker 2: We're also going to have crafts for kids that come
• 1:31
  Speaker 2: as well, so to be very family friendly. We are
• 1:34
  Speaker 2: going to have a couple of different food options. We
• 1:36
  Speaker 2: are going to have alotful there as well for some
• 1:39
  Speaker 2: of our community members that that need that. And we'll
• 1:44
  Speaker 2: also have you know, just like regular grill livers and
• 1:46
  Speaker 2: hot dogs. So people can expect to come here, here's

  Speaker 2: some union members speaking, I'll be able to eat, have

  Speaker 2: some kids crafts going on, and this converse with all
• 1:57
  Speaker 2: of the union members that are going to be there.

  Speaker 1: I think that's awesome. So if somebody wants to be

  Speaker 1: a part of this, do they need to register in

  Speaker 1: advance or we just show up that day.

  Speaker 2: You can absolutely show up that day. We do have

  Speaker 2: a Facebook event as well if you want to RSVP.

  Speaker 2: You certainly don't have to. It just helps us maybe

  Speaker 2: know the numbers going into the day, but do not

  Speaker 2: feel inclined. You can absolutely show up that day and

  Speaker 2: come and hang out and have a good time.

  Speaker 1: Very very nice. And again this is something you guys

  Speaker 1: have done before, and it's the annual Labor Day picnic Sunday,

  Speaker 2: We get a good mix of some of the older

  Speaker 2: folks and we get some newer younger people that come

  Speaker 2: to the crowd who may not be union members, but

  Speaker 2: they didn't know that we put on a picnic every year,

  Speaker 2: and so we kind of peek the interest of many
• 2:52
  Speaker 2: different age groups.

  Speaker 1: And ahead of time you and I were talking, you

  Speaker 1: had mentioned that you're also involved at IBW, the International
• 2:59
  Speaker 1: Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, and we worked with them for
• 3:02
  Speaker 1: many many years. They were a big part of our
• 3:03
  Speaker 1: fireworks event and that's an amazing organization. So thank you
• 3:06
  Speaker 1: for doing what you guys do over there.
• 3:08
  Speaker 2: Absolutely appreciate it. And yeah, I love being a part
• 3:10
  Speaker 2: of i WW lovely good word going on over there
• 3:13
  Speaker 2: as well. I love being part of that union.

  Speaker 1: Yeah, it's a good group of people. And again, if

  Speaker 1: people would like to join you again, the Labor Federation

  Speaker 1: hosting a free Labor Day picnic at Covial Lake. And

  Speaker 1: it feels weird to be talking about Labor Day that

  Speaker 1: it seems like it's way too early to talk about that,
