- 0:01SPEAKER_00: Good morning, everybody.
- 0:03SPEAKER_00: I'm on the road again.
- 0:05SPEAKER_00: I'm actually in Atlanta visiting an awesome church, friends of mine, Dennis and Colleen Rouse, Johnson and Summer Bowie, and just an amazing staff and group of people.
- 0:20SPEAKER_00: And whatever.
- 0:22SPEAKER_00: I just I love what I get to do.
- 0:24SPEAKER_00: All right, what have we been talking about?
- 0:25SPEAKER_00: We've been talking about Mind Shift Mojo Toxins.
- 0:28SPEAKER_00: We've been talking about this phrase: simple shifts of perspective produce tipping points of progress.
- 0:36SPEAKER_00: I really want you to have a great year.
- 0:38SPEAKER_00: I want you to have a great life.
- 0:41SPEAKER_00: I want one myself, and I don't think that's selfish.
- 0:45SPEAKER_00: It's hard to pull somebody else up out of a hole that you're in with them.
- 0:51SPEAKER_00: You're not going to do much good unless you're outside of the hole with some tools to help them get out of the hole.
- 0:58SPEAKER_00: So that's that's kind of what we're all about, is helping each of us get out of whatever holes we're in.
- 1:05SPEAKER_00: Some that other people dug and pushed us in, you might say, unintentionally.
- 1:10SPEAKER_00: Some that we dug ourselves.
- 1:12SPEAKER_00: But uh the bottom line is uh let's let's let's get on solid ground and uh and and really start making some progress.
- 1:22SPEAKER_00: And uh the fun part is bringing some other people with us.
- 1:26SPEAKER_00: And uh that's when life just really hits a whole different level.
- 1:31SPEAKER_00: So um, you know, that's what we we were talking about, this whole issue, and we talked about the the concept of giving a pill to a cat.
- 1:39SPEAKER_00: And uh what I mean by that is uh it's kind of like medicine, you know.
- 1:42SPEAKER_00: You know, you've heard the phrase that medicine doesn't have to taste bad to be good.
- 1:47SPEAKER_00: Uh because you know the old the old deal was all medicine tasted horrible and that kind of thing.
- 1:52SPEAKER_00: Well, here's the deal some medicine, some uh treatments, if you will, for what ails us, um don't go down easy.
- 2:02SPEAKER_00: In other words, they're they're they're tricky to absorb because uh a couple of things, and uh I just want to give you a couple of my thoughts on that.
- 2:12SPEAKER_00: Like, it's almost like you could put it like this there's there's tools and techniques, scriptural uh things I've learned from psychology uh that are really, really helpful, tools that are really helpful in um climbing out of the holes we get find ourselves in and then helping pull other people out.
- 2:32SPEAKER_00: But at the same time, there's some foundation, what I would call foundational things that I don't know that I'd call them tools, but they're foundational realities that determine whether the tools work, you might say.
- 2:48SPEAKER_00: And uh so let me just give you a couple of them that I I kind of think through.
- 2:53SPEAKER_00: Um one of them would be like, you know, last week I told you about my daughter and the three questions how do you see God, how do you see yourself, um uh what do you believe you have to do to please him?
- 3:07SPEAKER_00: Here's the thing if if you're just kind of making it up as you go along, or you just kind of, you know, well, that's that's the way it was taught to me.
- 3:19SPEAKER_00: In other words, if you're not willing to dig a little deeper and question some things, um, it's gonna be hard to use tools and get as free as you'd like to get.
- 3:35SPEAKER_00: One of the one of the biggest tools, or again, what I'm talking about really is the foundation underneath the tools, is your relationship.
- 3:43SPEAKER_00: Maybe you could use, since we use the word so much, your perspective of reality.
- 3:49SPEAKER_00: In John chapter 8, verse 31 and 32, Jesus said to those Jews who believed.
- 3:56SPEAKER_00: So Jesus was talking to believing Jews, and he said, If you continue in my word, what does that mean?
- 4:03SPEAKER_00: If you continue to um adjust your reality to mine, Jesus, God, if you continue to learn where your relationship to reality, your perspective of reality differs from mine.
- 4:20SPEAKER_00: Now, what do I mean by that?
- 4:22SPEAKER_00: Um like last week, we talked about the if then.
- 4:26SPEAKER_00: Here's the problem: as soon as you say, if God loved me, then blank, you have already broken from God's truth, God's reality.
- 4:40SPEAKER_00: Why?
- 4:41SPEAKER_00: Because God never doesn't love you.
- 4:46SPEAKER_00: Um, yeah, but, yeah, but, yeah, but, yeah, but.
- 4:50SPEAKER_00: Well, those butts are gonna kill you, man.
- 4:54SPEAKER_00: Here's the thing.
- 4:57SPEAKER_00: We need to submit, surrender, yield, if you will, to God's version of reality.
- 5:05SPEAKER_00: Now, you know, a lot of people use this and they're arguing about holiness and whatever, whatever.
- 5:09SPEAKER_00: And uh, whatever.
- 5:10SPEAKER_00: I'm not saying that's not necessary at times, but what I'm saying is that's not the side of it I'm talking about.
- 5:15SPEAKER_00: I'm talking about submitting, surrendering to, and living under the beauty of the reality of how awesome and wonderful God is, his plan is, and the story he's invited us into is.
- 5:30SPEAKER_00: So Jesus says, if you continue my word, if you continue to learn, if you continue to compare your version of reality to mine, here's what he says.
- 5:40SPEAKER_00: Then you're my disciples indeed.
- 5:43SPEAKER_00: In other words, he said to those Jews who believed, they were believers, he said, but what makes you a disciple is when you continue this path and you continue to take your version of reality, put it up against mine, and then here's what he says.
- 5:57SPEAKER_00: As you continue to do that, you shall know the truth, and I would love for you to think truth slash reality.
- 6:04SPEAKER_00: You should you'll you'll know the truth, you'll know what's real, what's real that you can stand on and count on, and that truth will set you free.
- 6:17SPEAKER_00: What does that mean?
- 6:18SPEAKER_00: Well, you're caught in patterns, you're caught in relationships, you're caught in uh behavior patterns, um you're you're you're at a level of life that you feel like is not where God wants you in lots of ways, physically, spiritually, emotionally.
- 6:34SPEAKER_00: And and what scripture says is if you continue this process of taking your version of reality and putting it up against God's and allowing Him to adjust your version of reality, you'll you'll know the truth, you'll know what's real, what's really the truth.
- 6:55SPEAKER_00: And that truth that you come to know will set you free.
- 7:00SPEAKER_00: Now, I used the example last week of myself, and um, and again, it's just a simple example.
- 7:06SPEAKER_00: It doesn't bother me anymore, so don't worry about that.
- 7:09SPEAKER_00: But it just it kind of is quick.
- 7:11SPEAKER_00: That saying to me, your ladies never mind to anything, okay.
- 7:15SPEAKER_00: What set me free was submitting to God's reality.
- 7:19SPEAKER_00: What was God's reality?
- 7:21SPEAKER_00: You know, Chipper, that's the perspective of a fallen world that judges people by certain standards.
- 7:27SPEAKER_00: One of them is this type A-driven, whatever, and those are the people we celebrate, whatever.
- 7:32SPEAKER_00: The reality was, Chipper, I made you a certain way so that you could fulfill your assignment.
- 7:40SPEAKER_00: What's your assignment?
- 7:41SPEAKER_00: Your assignment is counseling and encouraging and coaching, uh hurting people, uh successful people, and helping them find their blind spots and their blockages and breaking through to new territory.
- 7:57SPEAKER_00: To be that person, you need to be wired differently.
- 8:03SPEAKER_00: So guess what?
- 8:04SPEAKER_00: God brought his reality up against mine.
- 8:09SPEAKER_00: Like what I don't remember saying this, but maybe someone might have been in my situation say, Well, you know, God, if you love me, you'd have made me this.
- 8:17SPEAKER_00: Or God, if you love me, you'd have made me good at this.
- 8:20SPEAKER_00: When in reality, what God wanted me to find was he does love me, period.
- 8:25SPEAKER_00: Unquestionable.
- 8:27SPEAKER_00: And he loves me so much that he made me a certain way to fit my assignment.
- 8:33SPEAKER_00: I love my assignment.
- 8:36SPEAKER_00: And forgive me if this creeps you out, but I like the way God made me.
- 8:40SPEAKER_00: I like being me.
- 8:42SPEAKER_00: And God wants you to find that freedom.
- 8:45SPEAKER_00: But you're not gonna find that freedom unless you build a relationship, alter your perspective between your sense, your interpretation of truth, and his.
- 8:59SPEAKER_00: We're gonna talk a lot about this.
- 9:01SPEAKER_00: It's the key to everything.
- 9:02SPEAKER_00: A couple other things we're gonna talk about as we go forward.
- 9:05SPEAKER_00: But I want you to have mojo, man.
- 9:07SPEAKER_00: And you know what I mean by mojo, just momentum.
- 9:10SPEAKER_00: Moment, by the way, is an interesting word.
- 9:12SPEAKER_00: What it means is moment, one way to define momentum is how much force does it take to stop you?
- 9:18SPEAKER_00: How much force does it take to knock you off course?
- 9:21SPEAKER_00: Um, I want you to have so much momentum that when people, the enemy, or whatever gets in your way in an inappropriate way, that you're able to get through it in a healthy, productive manner.
- 9:32SPEAKER_00: That's momentum.
- 9:34SPEAKER_00: And uh, I want to help you build Mind Shift Mojo.
- 9:39SPEAKER_00: Love you guys.
- 9:40SPEAKER_00: See you next week.
- 9:41SPEAKER_00: Bye.
