- 0:00Hello, and welcome back to your weekly Saturday episode. It's me, Dune, your host and Hype Girl. A few of you reached out to let me know that you loved the resources section last week. So based on that, I'm going to keep rolling with it for now in between my non-alc wine updates, which I'm going to be a little bit more.
- 0:22I might add, are obviously very slowly coming along. I'm talking snail slow. I'm talking snail in peanut butter slow.
- 0:31My only ask with these episodes is that if you learn something or these resources help you in some way, please do let me know. I would love to hear from you and what you're up to or what you're working on. Actually, another thing, if you have a resource that you think is worth shouting about, I definitely want to know. You can drop into my DMs on Instagram at Dunrosheen, which is spelt D-O-O-N-E-R-O-I-S-I-N.
- 1:01Okay, let's get into it. This is me for Female Startup Club.
- 1:06Okay, so before we get started, just full disclaimer here. I have been battling a cold slash cough situation for literally ever, literally ever. And my voice just seems to be struggling so much more than usual these days. So I have my cup of fresh mint tea right here with me, and I'm sorry in advance for the scratchy throaty sounds. Here are my four useful things in four minutes for this week.
- 1:37Number one, first thing, which I thought was pretty cool, and maybe you know about it, but I certainly did not know about it. And this is something that I struggle with a lot. This is a pain point for me. I am a person who is not the best with task management. I'm great when there's a workflow set out for me, but building my own documents or putting all my thoughts into a well-laid out and easy-to-use plan is...
- 2:03is a real headache. And I easily get lost in the likes of Asana and Monday.com and, you know, all these task management tools. And so trying to figure out how to set those up and work together
- 2:17with me and like how I work, I end up feeling really overwhelmed and less organized than when I started. And so this is a solution for all of that. I'm told. Have you heard of Notion certified consultants?
- 2:34Now, I've used Notion before in general through different courses and whatnot, and other people have raved about it. And I've always thought about how I would love to have an epic Notion doc of my own that makes my life so much easier across all my different projects. But the idea of actually sitting down and building that out is just absolutely not going to happen. It's beyond me.
- 2:55And also probably a real waste of time because I won't get very far. I'll give up. And if you're anything like me, it'll just sit in that graveyard of half-built documents floating around my Google Drive that never get opened again.
- 3:09So this is where Notion certified consultants enter the room, enters the group chat. One of my friends was showing me his workflow on Notion and I was like, holy moly, who told you how to do that? And like, how come you're so organized? How do you know what that, like, how did you know how to build that?
- 3:28And he pointed me in the direction of Notion consultants. And basically, they're exactly what it sounds like. They're Notion approved or Notion certified consultants that you connect with through this link on their site, which I'll link in the show notes. And you basically find a time to chat with them. You tell them as much as you can about how you manage your workflow, what projects you're working on at the moment, what your daily tasks are. And then they do a follow-up interview with you to actually truly understand everything that you do.
- 3:56And then they go away and they build you a customized document to manage your tasks, your team, your life, your projects, your everything. So I'm just starting this process and I'm so excited for like future organized me because it sounds like a real vibe. So I'll keep you posted who I work with and if they are worth working with as well.
- 4:19Two, the second thing I heard about which might be of interest to so many of you is a small female-owned law firm called Sprout Law. Now, they're a collection of trademark attorneys for women who need to protect their brands. And since I'm going through this at the moment for the non-alcoholic wine company and the costs are just piling up all over the place when it comes to legal, I was so excited to be recommended this by two women in my network, two, not even just one.
- 4:47You know who you are, and thank you so much for the recommendation, by the way. Okay, so on their website, they have a section where you can book in a free consultation, and I've just booked mine in. And from what I gather, they take a call with you, they set out a recommended plan to protect yourself, and then you go forward from there.
- 5:05But what you can actually also do is really easily just on their website, you can go online, pay for a general trademark search, which is $59 USD. And I don't think it's a comprehensive search as such, but still, still, it's wildly different from the quotes I've been receiving in the thousands of dollar mark. And as I said, I have a call next week. So if I move forward with that, you will hear about it again and I'll let you know what I think.
- 5:34Number three, moving on to some money stuff because we all need more access to capital and to money. Gosh, building a business is bloody expensive.
- 5:45There is a company in the U.S. called Hello Alice, and they currently have a huge number of $5,000 small business grants available to U.S. residents. Totally devastating that I can't enter and that anyone outside of the U.S. can't enter. But for those of you who are in the U.S., the deadline is coming up. It's something like the 10th of December. So jump on it. Get in there. There's like 50 that they're giving away, I think. Yeah.
- 6:12So get that compelling pitch together, jump online and apply if you're in the US. And obviously, let me know if you do, because I will be so psyched for you. And lastly, number four, while we're still on the money stuff, Clearco has an investment offer going at the moment for D2C businesses who are operating with at least $10,000 in monthly revenue for the past six months.
- 6:36What's interesting is that they actually fund eight times more women founders than traditional VCs and 30% of their portfolio are women of color.
- 6:47The way it works is that basically you go to them, you sign up, you plug in all of your data and you get from something like $10,000 up to $10 million, I think, in capital while maintaining 100% ownership of your business. I don't know specifically what the terms are and what the interest is, but obviously it's a way to access more money quickly without giving away any of your business, which we love.
- 7:13And obviously it's, well, maybe not so obviously, but actually it's also female founded too. And ClearCo, if you're listening, while I have your attention, we really need Michelle to come on the show to talk about how it all works and who should be seriously knocking on your door ASAP. So please hit me up, drop into my inbox.
- 7:33Okay, that's it. That's all for today. Four useful things in four minutes or slightly longer. Looks like we're up to eight minutes. I hope one of these is useful to you. Let me know if you have a great resource that you want mentioned. You can find all the links below in the show notes. See you next Saturday.
