- 0:16Speaker 1: It is time to leave your worries outside and laugh
- 0:21Speaker 1: with us inside the treehouse. I'm Daniel Malley, along with
- 0:24Speaker 1: Trey Trenholm and Raj Sharma. Today is Wednesday, July second,
- 0:31Speaker 1: twenty twenty five. Welcome to hump Day. Going to share
- 0:39Speaker 1: with you a headline that stood out to me a
- 0:41Speaker 1: couple of days ago, and it stood out to me
- 0:43Speaker 1: so much that I thought, I need to share this
- 0:45Speaker 1: with my buddies, Trey and Raj. Open ocean swimming has
- 0:51Speaker 1: many health benefits and some risks. You don't say, does it?
- 1:05Speaker 2: Does it list them both? I mean, I'm sorry.
- 1:13Speaker 1: I mean, look, we deal with ridiculous and stupid every day,
- 1:19Speaker 1: and for some reason, that headline just hit me on
- 1:22Speaker 1: a whole new level. Open ocean swimming has many health
- 1:26Speaker 1: benefits and some risks.
- 1:28Speaker 3: Yeah, there's an editor that let that go to print.
- 1:31Speaker 3: Just like why, I you know what, you might be
- 1:34Speaker 3: onto something.
- 1:35Speaker 1: You know what. I give them credit because it got
- 1:37Speaker 1: my attention. It hicks my curiosity and I want to
- 1:40Speaker 1: know more.
- 1:40Speaker 4: Yeah, like if after we hike Everest, let's go do
- 1:46Speaker 4: but ocean swimming.
- 1:48Speaker 2: You're right, Glenn, Let's.
- 1:49Speaker 1: Do the new white people's sport taking the white community
- 1:54Speaker 1: by storm.
- 1:58Speaker 2: I love it. You guys, keep doing fun stuff.
- 2:04Speaker 1: Look, if we're being honest, all swimming comes with risks.
- 2:09Speaker 1: I don't care if you're doing it in the in
- 2:11Speaker 1: the ocean or in a pool.
- 2:13Speaker 4: Hey listen, they at least give you the warning that
- 2:16Speaker 4: open ocean swimming does come with a few risks.
- 2:20Speaker 2: I mean, just a few, yeah, I mean.
- 2:24Speaker 3: And then they just kind of list all the the
- 2:26Speaker 3: species shark and then jellyfish, and you.
- 2:30Speaker 1: Know, not to mention just getting tired and drowning well
- 2:34Speaker 1: in tides.
- 2:35Speaker 3: Uh huh, yeah, undertoes. Yeah, all the all the fun
- 2:39Speaker 3: stuffy and then what are the health benefits?
- 2:43Speaker 2: Can we adrenaline pumping? Fear? What does fear do for
- 2:50Speaker 2: your that'll get you, that'll that'll eliminate your sciatica tray.
- 2:55Speaker 1: That's true, This might be a cure for your sciatica tray.
- 2:58Speaker 1: We found it. We found the cure for your sciatica
- 3:01Speaker 1: open ocean swimming. Although you might drown, but yeah, then
- 3:05Speaker 1: you don't have to worry about your sayatica.
- 3:07Speaker 2: Hey, there you go.
- 3:10Speaker 1: Dean Dennis Crean is a businessman and longtime swimming coach.
- 3:14Speaker 1: He's pursued his passion for open water swimming in just
- 3:17Speaker 1: about every kind of waterway. He's overcome headwinds at Lake
- 3:21Speaker 1: George and Upstate New York, traversed the Tampa Bay, and
- 3:24Speaker 1: negotiated tricky conditions during a twenty eight mile marathon swim
- 3:28Speaker 1: around Manhattan. Wow, he said, I remember watching the Empire
- 3:33Speaker 1: State Building go by and thinking, wow, we are going
- 3:35Speaker 1: fast with the current. But he said his first love,
- 3:38Speaker 1: the one that taught him his most important life lessons,
- 3:41Speaker 1: is the ocean. He says, when things restore me and
- 3:45Speaker 1: waves get big, how do you roll with it. He's
- 3:49Speaker 1: also swum across the English Channel and Southern California's Catalina Channel.
- 3:53Speaker 1: His toughest challenge navigating changing Navigating changing currents has taught
- 3:58Speaker 1: him that things will work out, that you will get
- 4:01Speaker 1: to the other side if you observe, adapt and change.
- 4:07Speaker 1: Ocean swimmers say their ranks are growing as people realize
- 4:10Speaker 1: the unique boost, particularly for mental health, provided by a
- 4:15Speaker 1: sturdy stint in salt water. The activity, aficionados say appeals
- 4:19Speaker 1: to people of different generations and fitness levels, from triathletes
- 4:23Speaker 1: to retirees. Okay, if you're a new retiree, don't start
- 4:27Speaker 1: your first day of retirement with open ocean swimming or
- 4:31Speaker 1: do your kids will thank you unless you've amasked serious
- 4:35Speaker 1: wealth And if your kids are challenging you to go
- 4:39Speaker 1: for it, they want you to die. They say. Swimming
- 4:45Speaker 1: in the ocean and other natural bodies of water provides
- 4:47Speaker 1: a connection to nature and seems especially effective at reducing stress.
- 4:52Speaker 1: That's according to one so called expert, Maryland Spitz, who
- 4:57Speaker 1: seventy five lives in Puerto Rico and Lose doll where
- 5:00Speaker 1: said her almost daily swims feel like a spiritual cradling.
- 5:04Speaker 1: That's that's God welcoming you home as he pulls you
- 5:09Speaker 1: underneath the surface of the ocean.
- 5:10Speaker 2: Spiritual cradling, walking towards the light, whatever you want to
- 5:13Speaker 2: call it.
- 5:15Speaker 1: Yeah, you know what. Some people walk towards the light,
- 5:17Speaker 1: some crawl, others swim.
- 5:19Speaker 2: Yeah, there you go.
- 5:20Speaker 4: I just you know, I just think we got it
- 5:23Speaker 4: all wrong.
- 5:24Speaker 2: You know.
- 5:25Speaker 4: I don't think the titan submersible was going to see
- 5:27Speaker 4: the Titanic. I think they were selling white people on
- 5:29Speaker 4: the benefits of a hyperbaric chamber.
- 5:34Speaker 2: It's really good for your skin, feel the pressure.
- 5:38Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah, So now that you know of some of
- 5:49Speaker 1: the upsides to ocean swimming. Here in the story it says,
- 5:52Speaker 1: and I quote, but there are downsides to ocean swimming
- 5:55Speaker 1: as well. The risk of drowning is higher in open
- 5:58Speaker 1: water than in a pool, according to experts. I'm so
- 6:01Speaker 1: glad they went to experts to get that verified. And
- 6:06Speaker 1: many of the ocean's hazards, including ripped currents, wildlife, and pollution,
- 6:10Speaker 1: are challenging for even the most experienced swimmers. See, you
- 6:14Speaker 1: thought it was funny when you saw that photo of
- 6:16Speaker 1: the straw sticking up the nostril of the sea turtle,
- 6:19Speaker 1: But when it happens to you, not so funny. According
- 6:24Speaker 1: to an exercise physiologist, Laurie Sherlock, she says you need
- 6:28Speaker 1: to respect the water. She's participated in several triathlons, said
- 6:33Speaker 1: she encountered a jellyfish every fifth stroke and hit currents
- 6:37Speaker 1: so strong she was almost pulled into one of the pylons,
- 6:40Speaker 1: which was covered with sharp and pointy barnacles. This sounds
- 6:44Speaker 1: to me like we need to have some regulation on
- 6:47Speaker 1: triathlete obstacles.
- 6:50Speaker 2: Well, I don't know how you regulate the ocean.
- 6:55Speaker 1: Well, I'm she's saying right there, like the booies that
- 6:58Speaker 1: are along the triathlon core are sharp and dangerous. I mean,
- 7:02Speaker 1: maybe you shouldn't be doing the Rio Grand Triathlon.
- 7:05Speaker 3: Yeah yeah, And it's in the drowning part. It is
- 7:09Speaker 3: my favorite because it's hard to stand up in the ocean.
- 7:16Speaker 2: You can stand up in a pool and be fine.
- 7:19Speaker 1: Well, maybe you'll get lucky. You'll put your feet down
- 7:21Speaker 1: on the head of a great white.
- 7:24Speaker 2: For just a second.
- 7:26Speaker 1: You'll feel like you'll feel like one of the trainers
- 7:28Speaker 1: at SeaWorld. I'm flying.
- 7:37Speaker 2: Now, I'm a food. Yeah. I don't understand the appeal.
- 7:45Speaker 2: But not knock yourself out if that's what makes you.
- 7:51Speaker 1: They actually say that in the story don't knock yourself
- 7:53Speaker 1: out while open ocean swimming.
- 7:56Speaker 4: Circle of Life.
- 8:01Speaker 1: That should be the name of the triathlon.
- 8:03Speaker 4: We should sponsor the Circle of Life and the Circle
- 8:06Speaker 4: of stupid. And this is the Venn diagram of the twos.
- 8:17Speaker 5: You're in the treehouse.
- 8:22Speaker 6: Listen us online at Treehouse on air dot com.

- 8:48Speaker 1: to partner with some outstanding companies wanting to help. And
- 8:52Speaker 1: today we get to add cookdfw's name to that list
- 8:56Speaker 1: of excellent sponsors to the foundation because Daniel, you and

- 9:03Speaker 1: to our first responders in DFW.
- 9:05Speaker 7: Right, Dan, That's absolutely correct, and you know, truth be known,
- 9:09Speaker 7: Carrie has given to the foundation for quite so many years,
- 9:13Speaker 7: but now at a company level, I think we are
- 9:16Speaker 7: wanting to definitely you know, beef that up and start
- 9:20Speaker 7: giving back to the foundation. And it's unfortunately, this is
- 9:24Speaker 7: a foundation nobody wants to have to donate to. But
- 9:26Speaker 7: it's the real world is that these things do happen,
- 9:29Speaker 7: and it's it's it's the type of foundation that you
- 9:33Speaker 7: don't want around, but you definitely want it to be,
- 9:35Speaker 7: you know, available.
- 9:36Speaker 4: To the families that need it.
- 9:37Speaker 7: And so over the next couple of months, you know,
- 9:40Speaker 7: a portion of all the proceeds from the work done
- 9:43Speaker 7: from Treehouse listeners that call in and let us know
- 9:46Speaker 7: that they heard about you on the show. We're going
- 9:48Speaker 7: to be donating to the RMS tree House Listeners Foundation
- 9:51Speaker 7: and making sure that we can keep that very stable
- 9:56Speaker 7: in the accounting side and and have funds available that
- 9:59Speaker 7: when the family please need it, it's going to be there.
- 10:01Speaker 4: So we're very.
- 10:02Speaker 7: Fortunate to be a part of the organization and we
- 10:06Speaker 7: look forward to try and assist and help it as much.
- 10:08Speaker 4: As we can.
- 10:09Speaker 1: Not only a company that cares about you as a client,
- 10:11Speaker 1: but Cookdfwroofing and Restoration also cares about its first responders
- 10:15Speaker 1: in our communities. So give them a call for your

- 11:16Speaker 1: I'm danil Malley along with Trey Trenholm and Raj Sharma.
- 11:19Speaker 1: I've seen a couple of triathlons on TV, whether it
- 11:24Speaker 1: was an Olympic event or just something that was on
- 11:26Speaker 1: like whatever famous triathlon that happens, and they'll show on TV,
- 11:30Speaker 1: but they never really show the crowd that I remember,
- 11:33Speaker 1: and I've never been I've never been to a triathlon,
- 11:35Speaker 1: so I don't know if there's a big spectators section.
- 11:40Speaker 1: They mainly like I've just seen it on TV and
- 11:43Speaker 1: it's just all the people in the water, the bike
- 11:44Speaker 1: they're running.
- 11:46Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 11:47Speaker 1: But during this the you know, the open ocean swimming part,
- 11:50Speaker 1: it does make me think, Okay, are there are there fans.
- 11:52Speaker 2: In the stand? Yeah? I mean in my head, it's
- 11:56Speaker 2: just all all people of color watching.
- 12:01Speaker 1: Watching the white people swim.
- 12:03Speaker 2: Yeah. And then you know, taking bets. I like to
- 12:06Speaker 2: think that there's a there's a book.
- 12:07Speaker 3: I like to think trays Bookie is there taking taking
- 12:11Speaker 3: bets on uh how how people like who's gonna come
- 12:14Speaker 3: in first, Who's gonna be the first to drown?
- 12:17Speaker 2: Method of drowning.
- 12:19Speaker 1: Oh so there's all sorts of bets that they can do. Y.
- 12:21Speaker 1: I wonder if they can just do uh triathlon bingo
- 12:25Speaker 1: and then on on the bingo card they can have
- 12:27Speaker 1: different methods of death. Uh you know, it might be
- 12:30Speaker 1: eaten by a shark, it might be you know, just
- 12:33Speaker 1: good old fashion drowning. And then all the people of
- 12:36Speaker 1: color like they'll just check off bingo.
- 12:38Speaker 4: Yeah, it's not called bingo, it's called whitey.
- 12:45Speaker 1: W h Yeah, that'd be fun to just kind of
- 12:50Speaker 1: stumble across.
- 12:51Speaker 9: It's actually called damn. He next commission he did, Giles
- 13:03Speaker 9: was realistic. Just imagine seeing that game. The next time
- 13:11Speaker 9: you go to Target and you're looking for a board game.
- 13:14Speaker 9: It's like right next to Clue and Boggle.
- 13:16Speaker 2: Damn, did you get shark because like, no, I parleyed
- 13:20Speaker 2: that wood cramp and Jellyfish.
- 13:24Speaker 1: I wonder if you're playing that game though, because like
- 13:26Speaker 1: in Bingo, when you try to hit every square on
- 13:29Speaker 1: the card that's called blackout. Do you change the name
- 13:31Speaker 1: of it for or you just leave it cuz just
- 13:38Speaker 1: asking questions.
- 13:39Speaker 2: Yeah, there's too much happening in my head.
- 13:43Speaker 4: Is it like a movie? They're like the first don't
- 13:45Speaker 4: go in there?
- 13:53Speaker 1: All right, I think I can find a way to
- 13:54Speaker 1: segue into this next topic. Open ocean swimming is how
- 13:58Speaker 1: we got off on this in the first place. But
- 14:00Speaker 1: none of us grew up near the ocean, so that
- 14:03Speaker 1: wasn't something we did as kids. We were all landlocked
- 14:07Speaker 1: in you know, North Texas, whether it was Highland Park
- 14:11Speaker 1: or Leonard like Trey mesquite like raj or for me
- 14:16Speaker 1: all over them, you know DFW. But there's a new
- 14:21Speaker 1: trend with millennial parents. It's called nineties. It's called nineties
- 14:27Speaker 1: kids summer millennial parents, and I guess some younger gen
- 14:31Speaker 1: X are trying to convince their kids to have nineties
- 14:36Speaker 1: kids summers, just like we did when we were kids
- 14:39Speaker 1: in the eighties and nineties. You set up the rules
- 14:43Speaker 1: and you tell the kid you go outside, you go play.
- 14:46Speaker 1: There's no technology, there's no phones. You just go outside
- 14:50Speaker 1: and make things happen the way we did is kids.
- 14:53Speaker 1: I have yet to see any results of it, though,
- 14:57Speaker 1: because that's not a common thing. More like summers these
- 15:01Speaker 1: days for kids are mostly spent inside. So I like
- 15:05Speaker 1: the idea. I just don't know if any kids are
- 15:07Speaker 1: actually doing it unless they're being forced to.
- 15:13Speaker 3: Being forced to play. Yeah, yeah, I don't.
- 15:19Speaker 2: Or the camps are still a big thing. I think.
- 15:23Speaker 3: I have a couple of buddies that have kids, and
- 15:24Speaker 3: their kids are in camps and they do like some
- 15:27Speaker 3: kind of they do like we kind of did, like
- 15:30Speaker 3: arts and crafts kind of stuff, and uh, they get
- 15:33Speaker 3: really cool field trips though, like we didn't get any
- 15:35Speaker 3: of that stuff.
- 15:36Speaker 4: Camps are expensive.
- 15:38Speaker 1: Yes, I know I've heard that that. I know that
- 15:41Speaker 1: because I never went to one.
- 15:43Speaker 4: I'm not like when we were kids. That's one level
- 15:46Speaker 4: that what they are now. Yeah, I mean even just
- 15:49Speaker 4: like y MC a summer camp. I mean it was
- 15:52Speaker 4: shockingly expensive.
- 15:54Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, the I think. I think. At one point
- 15:56Speaker 1: I asked my mom about that because I had heard
- 15:58Speaker 1: one of my friends say something about going to camp
- 16:01Speaker 1: and all the things they did, and I was like, Mom,
- 16:03Speaker 1: why don't I do that? Because because you can do
- 16:04Speaker 1: that here, just go outside and do it.
- 16:07Speaker 3: Okay, you got to camp in the backyard, the gym,
- 16:10Speaker 3: the gym, I know.
- 16:13Speaker 1: My idea is summer camp was all over the neighborhood.
- 16:15Speaker 1: I mean I was just everywhere.
- 16:17Speaker 4: Yeah, she ud tell you to go to church.
- 16:22Speaker 1: Jokes on you, Trey, because a lot of the places
- 16:24Speaker 1: I went when I went to play outside was church.
- 16:28Speaker 1: But I didn't go inside. I stayed with the outside.
- 16:32Speaker 2: Oh that's nice. The priest came outside for you. That's good.
- 16:40Speaker 2: What are the activities involved in?
- 16:42Speaker 5: Uh?
- 16:42Speaker 2: I want to see, like how many like we all did?
- 16:45Speaker 1: Yeah, so nineties kids summer. It's trending because millennial parents
- 16:50Speaker 1: are saying we want our kids to have the kind
- 16:53Speaker 1: of summer we had in the nineties, things like bike riding,
- 16:57Speaker 1: drinking hose water, being outside all old day. Of course,
- 17:01Speaker 1: some parents say that's not realistic. In twenty twenty five,
- 17:06Speaker 1: I don't know why someone would say that's not realistic.
- 17:11Speaker 1: Just kick him out, kick him out the door, lock
- 17:13Speaker 1: the door, and say you can't come home until you
- 17:15Speaker 1: know the street light comes on.
- 17:17Speaker 3: Yeah, then the police get involved, and that's what happens there.
- 17:21Speaker 3: And these kids aren't used to going outside. So it's
- 17:23Speaker 3: much like a heat wave in Chicago. Like there's gonna
- 17:25Speaker 3: be a lot of kids with Like there's gonna be
- 17:27Speaker 3: a lot of white kids with heatstroke, you.
- 17:30Speaker 2: Know, some some bad guts from the hose water.
- 17:35Speaker 1: All these kids are used to you know, britta and
- 17:37Speaker 1: bottled water, so there their tummies aren't used to actual
- 17:40Speaker 1: you know organisms.
- 17:42Speaker 4: Plus though, they'll probably have their phones with him, which
- 17:44Speaker 4: means if anything does gather in one spot and they'll
- 17:47Speaker 4: be on their phones.
- 17:48Speaker 1: Yeah, that's why. That's why I think an integral piece
- 17:53Speaker 1: to nineties kids summer has to be as a parent,
- 17:55Speaker 1: you've got to take the phone.
- 17:57Speaker 3: Yeah, absolutely, I think that's imperative. And then when you
- 18:00Speaker 3: can't find your kid, you have to look on the
- 18:01Speaker 3: back of milk carts.
- 18:04Speaker 1: Just like our parents did.

- 19:24Speaker 1: He's trade. That's RAJ. Today is Wednesday, July second, two
- 19:28Speaker 1: thy twenty five. On the back end of nineties kids
- 19:34Speaker 1: summer trending, there's another trend that is taking over TikTok.
- 19:39Speaker 1: And since Trey you are our resident TikTok expert, I'm
- 19:43Speaker 1: wondering if you've noticed this new food trend on TikTok
- 19:49Speaker 1: between all the Bigfoot vlog and yetti videos that we've
- 19:52Speaker 1: been watching over the last week, and that is the
- 19:56Speaker 1: raw onion trend. Have you seen this, Well, I'm going
- 20:02Speaker 1: to tell you about it. The raw onion trend is
- 20:07Speaker 1: new on TikTok. People are celebrating the deliciousness of raw onions.
- 20:11Speaker 1: Well sorry, I don't find them delicious, So if you do,
- 20:15Speaker 1: more power to you. Some people are biting into them
- 20:18Speaker 1: like an apple. But others have more creative methods of
- 20:22Speaker 1: dressing them up. So what they're doing is they're taking
- 20:26Speaker 1: typically a red onion and just slicing it across the middle.
- 20:30Speaker 1: And then you'll have the disk of the rings of
- 20:34Speaker 1: onion and you use that like a canvas, and you
- 20:38Speaker 1: dress it up with toppings and things. Think of it
- 20:40Speaker 1: like avocado toast, but it's using an onion instead of toast.
- 20:45Speaker 1: So people are adding all sorts of toppings to their
- 20:48Speaker 1: raw onions and of course posting about it on social media.
- 20:52Speaker 1: Some people are like I said, biting into them like
- 20:54Speaker 1: an apple. Some will add salt, pepper, spices, maybe fresh
- 21:00Speaker 1: dill or everything, but bagel seasoning is popular. And then
- 21:03Speaker 1: others will finish it off with capers, balsamac and halapangos
- 21:06Speaker 1: for some heat. And if you're worried about the bite
- 21:09Speaker 1: of a raw onion, they of course recommend so can
- 21:11Speaker 1: get an ice water first. And now people, because of
- 21:16Speaker 1: this trend, they're fighting over who invented it. This is
- 21:23Speaker 1: another new level of stupid that we have come to
- 21:26Speaker 1: on TikTok. People are fighting over who invented eating.
- 21:32Speaker 2: Eating the raw onion yeah.
- 21:35Speaker 5: Food.
- 21:36Speaker 2: Just find the guy who has been single since he
- 21:38Speaker 2: started eating onions and started putting it on TikTok. That's
- 21:42Speaker 2: the guy who invented it.
- 21:44Speaker 1: Find the guy that's lonely.
- 21:46Speaker 2: Yeah, find the guy who bites into and goes for
- 21:48Speaker 2: the ladies.
- 21:51Speaker 4: Mel Gibson, Oh you're right there, you go.
- 21:56Speaker 1: He did do that.
- 21:59Speaker 2: Yeah, cousin.
- 22:01Speaker 3: Sorry, my cousin, when she was a baby, she would
- 22:03Speaker 3: do that like we would like my you know, the
- 22:06Speaker 3: moms would all be in the kitchen cooking Indian food,
- 22:08Speaker 3: and she would cry and my aunt would hand her
- 22:10Speaker 3: just just a white onion and she would just sit
- 22:13Speaker 3: there and eat it like an apple.
- 22:15Speaker 1: Disgusting. I'm not a big fan of raw onions. In
- 22:20Speaker 1: order for me to eat any sort of raw onion,
- 22:22Speaker 1: it has to fit into some very specific criteria. One
- 22:26Speaker 1: is it can't be too powerful, because then it just
- 22:29Speaker 1: because then because I'm not used to it, it just
- 22:32Speaker 1: it blows out the palate. I can't taste anything other
- 22:34Speaker 1: than the raw onion. But that's one of those foods
- 22:38Speaker 1: that in small doses I can have like a little
- 22:40Speaker 1: bit of it. Like the only time I've ever actually
- 22:41Speaker 1: liked raw onion are the tiny onions at McDonald's those
- 22:44Speaker 1: I love.
- 22:47Speaker 2: Are those? Are we sure those are actually onion?
- 22:50Speaker 1: No?
- 22:53Speaker 4: But I ate a yeah, okay, like tomato with with
- 22:58Speaker 4: red onion ands some Italian dressing stuff like that. Love,
- 23:02Speaker 4: but the onion in and of itself.
- 23:04Speaker 3: No, it's yeah, I'm where Indian onion goes.
- 23:08Speaker 2: I mean I eat like raw, like the yellow onions.
- 23:11Speaker 3: I do that with with my with my food, just
- 23:13Speaker 3: dipping a little bit of salt with somejlapeno peppers or
- 23:17Speaker 3: serranos those.
- 23:18Speaker 4: With with with something I can understand. Just eating an
- 23:22Speaker 4: onion straight up, nothing, no salt, no pepper, nothing like
- 23:25Speaker 4: just taking a bite of it. I don't understand. I
- 23:28Speaker 4: don't think it's that tasty and you got the whole breath.
- 23:33Speaker 2: Thing, That's what I'm saying. I don't.
- 23:36Speaker 3: That's the That's why I mean, because that's very typical,
- 23:39Speaker 3: very very prominent in especially Punjabi culture.
- 23:42Speaker 2: Like there's always onion with uh with food.
- 23:45Speaker 1: I've seen that at the buffets. You'll have like the
- 23:47Speaker 1: raw onions there. I'm like, I'm not touching that.
- 23:49Speaker 3: Yeah, that's why, God bless all the Indian women that
- 23:52Speaker 3: have are married to Punjabi met because I mean, you
- 23:56Speaker 3: got to deal with that like you want to talk
- 23:59Speaker 3: about and a quiet taste.
- 24:01Speaker 1: Maybe that's the reason why Indian cooking has thirty forty
- 24:04Speaker 1: spices in the middle of a single food item, is
- 24:07Speaker 1: just to try to drown out the smell of the
- 24:10Speaker 1: of the men's raw onion eating, which, by the way,
- 24:15Speaker 1: Mel Gibson wasn't the only person to do the raw
- 24:18Speaker 1: onion thing in film. You know who else did it,
- 24:20Speaker 1: famously Shrek, and they portrayed that as disgusting ogre.
- 24:28Speaker 2: Stuff.
- 24:28Speaker 1: Yeah and yeah, that's that's disgusting ogre behavior, and therefore
- 24:32Speaker 1: it set him up as a gross and stinky figure.
- 24:35Speaker 1: So if you're eating raw onions, you're gonna smell bad.
- 24:38Speaker 2: But it does cleanse your liver, so it's very good
- 24:40Speaker 2: for your liver.
- 24:41Speaker 1: Well, not everyone is gonna have the opportunity to have.
- 24:45Speaker 10: That knowledge, Daniel, you're listening to the tree House.

- 25:39Speaker 1: follow today. This is the Treehouse Show. I'm Dan, He's trade.
- 25:42Speaker 1: That's RAJ. Today is Wednesday, July second, twenty twenty five.
- 25:48Speaker 1: Last Saturday night, YouTuber Jake Paul improved his boxing record
- 25:53Speaker 1: to twelve and one after defeating Julio Sezar Chavez Junior
- 25:59Speaker 1: via unanimous decision. When I first saw this, I was
- 26:05Speaker 1: misled a bit by the headline that Jake Paul beat Helio.
- 26:11Speaker 1: Why can I not say his name today? Julio says
- 26:13Speaker 1: our Chavez Junior, because I thought, oh, he had a kid,
- 26:16Speaker 1: So Jake Paul finally fought someone near his own age. No,
- 26:20Speaker 1: I was wrong, because Chavez Junior is still like forty, yes,
- 26:28Speaker 1: it says according to reports. Because I don't want to
- 26:31Speaker 1: look up any of this stuff because I'm tired of
- 26:32Speaker 1: giving Jake Paul, you know, clicks and views from my
- 26:35Speaker 1: own personal side, but I will talk about him. Apparently
- 26:39Speaker 1: he was in control for much of the fight. Well,
- 26:41Speaker 1: Chavez was not very active. In fact, Chavez only threw
- 26:44Speaker 1: sixty three punches over the first seven rounds. He didn't
- 26:49Speaker 1: even land a punch in round one. And only connected
- 26:51Speaker 1: on nine over the first five rounds. Jesus.
- 26:55Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 26:59Speaker 1: After defeating fifty eight year old Mike Tyson last year,
- 27:02Speaker 1: Paul took the fight with Chavez, who is a former
- 27:05Speaker 1: champion but is also well past his prime. Yeah, so
- 27:11Speaker 1: he's this says, eleven years younger, who's a former champion
- 27:15Speaker 1: but also well passed his prime. Eleven years younger, and
- 27:18Speaker 1: has been riddled with issues both in and out of
- 27:20Speaker 1: boxing over the past decade plus. So it seems like
- 27:26Speaker 1: Jake Paul just keeps continuing to fight old former champion boxers.
- 27:31Speaker 3: Yeah, that's his m that's what he does. Like that,
- 27:33Speaker 3: he doesn't and I think before that he was doing
- 27:35Speaker 3: like MMA fighters in the boxing ring.
- 27:38Speaker 4: Right, He'll take on anyone basically that'll you know, that's
- 27:43Speaker 4: past their prime and wants to put it go in
- 27:46Speaker 4: the boxing ring with him. One thing is he's huge. Yeah,
- 27:50Speaker 4: I mean, Jake Paul is a big guy, and so
- 27:56Speaker 4: you know what it works for him. He makes millions
- 27:57Speaker 4: off these fights.
- 27:59Speaker 2: Oh yeah, I'm not knocking the hustle. I'm just saying
- 28:02Speaker 2: he hasn't fought anybody of any actual caliber.
- 28:05Speaker 1: And I think that's part of what is catching up
- 28:07Speaker 1: to him. He's starting to get a little more and
- 28:09Speaker 1: more defensive about it. So like even this other headline,
- 28:13Speaker 1: I saw Jake Paul getting roasted after fight versus Julio
- 28:17Speaker 1: Seesar Chavez Junior, and so he's having to go around
- 28:20Speaker 1: and defend himself for these fights. Yeah, Trey, you're right,
- 28:24Speaker 1: he's making millions of dollars off these, which I guess, great,
- 28:27Speaker 1: good for you, go get that bag, but it's coming
- 28:31Speaker 1: at the cost of credibility. It really just sounds like
- 28:35Speaker 1: you're going around a nursing home for old boxers, knocking
- 28:38Speaker 1: on doors and just trying to get him to sign,
- 28:41Speaker 1: just getting just trying to get him to say, hey,
- 28:43Speaker 1: you want to fight me?
- 28:43Speaker 2: Okay?
- 28:45Speaker 3: I mean it's the check is going to clear, you
- 28:46Speaker 3: know that, So why I mean, if you want to
- 28:49Speaker 3: make it, you know he's gonna make, you know. I
- 28:51Speaker 3: think the Tyson fight, what do he make like thirty
- 28:53Speaker 3: eight like something, thirty one million just off of ticket
- 28:57Speaker 3: sales and pay per view sales.
- 28:58Speaker 4: Oh, I think it was more. I think that's what
- 29:00Speaker 4: made I think Paul made like seventy something.
- 29:02Speaker 2: Yeah. No, no, I'm not talking like the purse.
- 29:04Speaker 3: I'm just talking about like just the pay per view
- 29:06Speaker 3: and ticket sales and all that stuff. I think was
- 29:09Speaker 3: a thirty million dollars, So I mean that's going to
- 29:11Speaker 3: go to Yeah, but he's gonna walk away with seventy
- 29:13Speaker 3: eighty million dollars. You know, somebody liked Tyson will walk
- 29:16Speaker 3: away with you know, thirty thirty five. But Julio sees
- 29:19Speaker 3: our job has probably walked away ten. Yeah, maybe I've
- 29:23Speaker 3: got it. I doubt it's that much.
- 29:25Speaker 4: I mean, oh yeah, it is probably especially for boxers,
- 29:29Speaker 4: the older ones. They got hosed during their career. They mean,
- 29:33Speaker 4: they fought in the Don King era where uh, you know,
- 29:38Speaker 4: very few fighters made what they should have.
- 29:40Speaker 1: Yeah, the promoters took all the money. Yeah, I mean,
- 29:44Speaker 1: so on that front, I'm glad that some of these
- 29:46Speaker 1: older fighters are getting a payday. But to me, this
- 29:51Speaker 1: is the sort of thing that's going to wear off.
- 29:53Speaker 1: It's a novelty to have YouTuber Jake Paul, who you know,
- 29:57Speaker 1: he is training like a fighter, and he's doing he's
- 29:59Speaker 1: he is doing boxing things. But how many more times
- 30:03Speaker 1: are you gonna keep buying pay per views of him,
- 30:06Speaker 1: you know, fighting old men as long as his fan
- 30:10Speaker 1: base keeps buying tickets. I mean, but that's what I'm
- 30:12Speaker 1: saying is at some point they're gonna get tired of
- 30:14Speaker 1: the same show over and over, Like, unless you're just
- 30:17Speaker 1: gonna start plucking Grandpa's out of the crowd to box,
- 30:20Speaker 1: then it's eventually going to wear off.
- 30:23Speaker 2: You know.
- 30:24Speaker 4: Here, here's my take on it is I think part
- 30:26Speaker 4: of the draw and now is people are tuning in
- 30:30Speaker 4: hoping to watch him lose.
- 30:32Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 30:33Speaker 3: Yeah, that's that's solid point because that's the only reason
- 30:37Speaker 3: I would watch.
- 30:38Speaker 2: But I mean, I wouldn't tune into that to that
- 30:40Speaker 2: last fight Tyson. I think through that fight, uh for sure,
- 30:44Speaker 2: Like I don't think he was actually I think he
- 30:46Speaker 2: was like how much am I get? How much am
- 30:47Speaker 2: I getting? Thirty eight? Okay, I'll just take a couple
- 30:50Speaker 2: of punches and I'll get home.
- 30:51Speaker 1: Then now you're gonna you're gonna make tens of millions
- 30:53Speaker 1: of dollars to not hit the white guy. And that's
- 30:56Speaker 1: and what we watched in that fight was the struggle
- 30:58Speaker 1: of Tyson not to kill him. That's why he was
- 31:01Speaker 1: biting his glove and doing all these things like. That
- 31:04Speaker 1: was probably the most difficult fight of Tyson's career because
- 31:07Speaker 1: he knows he could have killed that kid.
- 31:10Speaker 5: Yes on.
- 31:12Speaker 2: Like he's still like he's still Mike Tyson, like you
- 31:16Speaker 2: you don't want to get hit by that guy. So
- 31:17Speaker 2: for I'm sure that's what it was. And he got
- 31:20Speaker 2: grief and Paul got grief for that.
- 31:23Speaker 1: Yeah, you know what, I tell you what, Let's let's
- 31:26Speaker 1: lean into it. I would like Jake Paul to lean
- 31:28Speaker 1: into this whole bit even more. If you're gonna fight
- 31:32Speaker 1: old boxers and you want to sell tickets and pay
- 31:34Speaker 1: per views, let's do the ultimate fight. Okay, let's do
- 31:38Speaker 1: Jake Paul Sylvester Stallone. Okay, I'm I would Sylvester Stallone
- 31:46Speaker 1: don't need the money. I'm sure he'd be happy to
- 31:48Speaker 1: go in there and just whoop some ass and my
- 31:51Speaker 1: money would be on Stallone.
- 31:53Speaker 2: Yeah, I would.
- 31:54Speaker 1: I know he's tiny, but he's fierce. You don't You
- 32:01Speaker 1: don't think he's got a tray? Your face says uh
- 32:03Speaker 1: that that that that fight would not be good.
- 32:07Speaker 4: And he's also in his seventies.
- 32:10Speaker 2: That's perfect for Jake bawl.
- 32:11Speaker 1: Yeah, that's it's riding Jake Paul's alley. Seriously, it's a
- 32:15Speaker 1: it's an alley behind the nursing home. That's where he
- 32:17Speaker 1: picks up the down on on the Luck Boxers.
- 32:21Speaker 2: It's the only boxing rink with a wheelchair rap to
- 32:24Speaker 2: go in.
- 32:28Speaker 1: And outside parking is mostly handicapped.

- 33:29Speaker 1: Trey Trenholm and Raj Sharma. Today is Wednesday, July second,
- 33:33Speaker 1: twenty twenty five. Let's celebrate today with some birthdays. Actress
- 33:41Speaker 1: Margot Robbie is thirty five today. She played Harley Quinn
- 33:45Speaker 1: in the Suicide Squad movies, also Barbie in Barbie. She
- 33:48Speaker 1: was also in Wolf of Wall Street, Tons of movies
- 33:53Speaker 1: and an actual kind of a short ish film career,
- 33:56Speaker 1: but tons of great movies on her filmography already. Bargo
- 34:00Speaker 1: Robbie is thirty five. We weren't sure she would make
- 34:04Speaker 1: it to this point. But Lindsay Lohan is thirty nine today.
- 34:09Speaker 1: She's won away from forty. At one point we weren't
- 34:11Speaker 1: sure if she was gonna see twenty. But here she is.
- 34:15Speaker 1: She is persevered through thick and thin and all sorts
- 34:19Speaker 1: of things to mark this day. She is thirty nine.
- 34:24Speaker 2: Is she the one in the new Old Navy commercials?
- 34:26Speaker 2: I can't. She's had some work done.
- 34:33Speaker 1: I think you're.
- 34:35Speaker 2: I think like the new one that's come out like recently.
- 34:38Speaker 3: I've not seen that, but I know she's got like
- 34:40Speaker 3: a restaurant in Dubai now, or she married somebody from
- 34:43Speaker 3: the Abiza Abiza.
- 34:45Speaker 2: Okay, oh that's.
- 34:47Speaker 1: Just what she needs, is a party town. No, she
- 34:49Speaker 1: you know she's actually sober now. Yeah, that's right, good
- 34:52Speaker 1: for her. Roger you thinking of Natasha Leone.
- 34:59Speaker 2: I don't know it could be. I just thought it, like,
- 35:02Speaker 2: is that Lindsay Logan? Yeah, let me see if I.
- 35:06Speaker 4: Can find uh. Her acting is horrible.
- 35:12Speaker 2: Yeah, it is Lindsay Lohan and the Old Commercial twenty
- 35:17Speaker 2: twenty five, Lindsay Lohan, Charro, there they stopped.
- 35:25Speaker 1: The only thing better than an Old Navy commercial would
- 35:27Speaker 1: be if that's the start of the cast of the
- 35:30Speaker 1: next Printers.
- 35:34Speaker 2: Yes, lindsays Lindsay Lohan, charl and then Dylan something. It
- 35:40Speaker 2: doesn't say the full name.
- 35:42Speaker 1: That trade was right. You could have stopped after Chari.
- 35:44Speaker 4: I mean yeah, The only thing better would have been
- 35:46Speaker 4: if it was you, Ricardo mont LeBlanc and Tattoo. They
- 35:50Speaker 4: were they were revamping this fantasy island and that was
- 35:52Speaker 4: your first was your first guest?
- 35:53Speaker 1: That would first guest is Lindsay Lohan. But what if
- 35:56Speaker 1: the surprise oh and Charli? Yeah, what if they had
- 36:00Speaker 1: surprise guest Gary Busey? Other birthdays?
- 36:06Speaker 5: What is it?
- 36:07Speaker 3: No, it's just like how Trey was like picking on
- 36:09Speaker 3: people's careers are dead and then went to two people
- 36:11Speaker 3: who are actually dead.
- 36:14Speaker 2: That'd be a gross commercial. Yeah, So Lindsay Lohan making
- 36:20Speaker 2: her come back into acting with the Old Navy commercial.
- 36:24Speaker 1: Oh, that's not her first comeback. Other birthdays. Today, Ashley
- 36:34Speaker 1: Tisdale turns forty. She is a Savannah on the CW's
- 36:37Speaker 1: Hell Catch Jody Sanders in Scary Movie five and shar
- 36:40Speaker 1: Pei in The High School Musical Movies. Michelle Branch is
- 36:44Speaker 1: forty two. Her biggest solo hit was Everywhere. She spent
- 36:47Speaker 1: some time in a country duo called The Wreckers. She
- 36:50Speaker 1: is now married to Patrick Karney, the drummer for The
- 36:53Speaker 1: Black Keys. Yancey Butler is fifty five. Her father was
- 36:59Speaker 1: the drummer for The Love and Spoonful. She played Christopher
- 37:03Speaker 1: mintz Plast's mom, Angie Dimico in both Kick Ass movies.
- 37:07Speaker 1: She was also the love interest opposite Jean Claude van
- 37:10Speaker 1: Dam and one of the best worst action films of
- 37:13Speaker 1: all time, Hard Target. That's the one where he punched
- 37:16Speaker 1: a snake unconscious. M h after he you know, uh,
- 37:21Speaker 1: pulled it off of her shoulder. Yeah, that's her like
- 37:25Speaker 1: a gentleman, like a gentleman does.
- 37:28Speaker 3: That's right, he'll he'll give you his coat, Uh, make
- 37:31Speaker 3: sure you're not cold, pull a snick off your shoulder
- 37:33Speaker 3: and knock it out.
- 37:34Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 37:35Speaker 1: Jean Claude van Dam. For when someone says he punches
- 37:40Speaker 1: a snake and it's taken.
- 37:42Speaker 2: Literally, Jean Claude van Dam. In case you want to
- 37:46Speaker 2: know what Belgian cocaine looks like.
- 37:51Speaker 1: Keep in mind that this movie that we're talking about,
- 37:53Speaker 1: this is the same one that he walks around in
- 37:55Speaker 1: a duster and one of the most epic mullets I've
- 37:58Speaker 1: ever seen. And uh, this also the same movie where
- 38:02Speaker 1: wearing that duster, he pulls the duster back across his
- 38:06Speaker 1: hip the way that they would do in a Western
- 38:08Speaker 1: to show their their their gun. But for him, it's
- 38:13Speaker 1: his leg.
- 38:15Speaker 3: That's when you know he that's when you know he's
- 38:17Speaker 3: just had too much, too many hits to the head.
- 38:19Speaker 3: He's like, who's ready for the gun show? And then
- 38:21Speaker 3: shows off his leg like he's got the dialogue all right,
- 38:24Speaker 3: but the action's all wrong.
- 38:26Speaker 1: Why is he pulling out the dark meat?
- 38:31Speaker 4: And the poor bastard can't get an old Navy commercial.
- 38:34Speaker 5: Uh, you're in the Treehouse.

- 39:23Speaker 1: back during Treehouse Talkback on Tuesdays. Here inside the Treehouse Show,
- 39:28Speaker 1: I'm Daniel Malley along with Trey Trenholm and Raj Sharma.
- 39:32Speaker 1: Today is Wednesday, July second, two thousand twenty five. A
- 39:37Speaker 1: very interesting story from across the Pond. A police officer
- 39:42Speaker 1: in England told a female coworker to pull his finger,
- 39:46Speaker 1: but she refused, so he did what most of us
- 39:49Speaker 1: would do. He spun around and farted in her face,
- 39:55Speaker 1: and now his jobs on the line. It's definitely not
- 40:01Speaker 1: the twentieth century anymore. You can't just go around telling
- 40:04Speaker 1: people to pull your finger, especially coworkers, and especially not
- 40:07Speaker 1: female coworkers.
- 40:09Speaker 2: Okay, it's the British. Try humor.
- 40:13Speaker 1: No, I think this one was wet and that's why
- 40:15Speaker 1: his job's in trouble. A police officer in England might
- 40:21Speaker 1: lose his job because he asked a female coworker to
- 40:23Speaker 1: pull his finger, then he farted in her face. He's
- 40:26Speaker 1: dealing with a disciplinary review to decide if he should
- 40:31Speaker 1: be fired or not. The coworker says she knew what
- 40:34Speaker 1: he was planning to do when he asked her to
- 40:36Speaker 1: pull his finger. So she told him to go away,
- 40:39Speaker 1: But then he spun around, stood on his toes, and
- 40:46Speaker 1: fired in her face less than six inches away and
- 40:49Speaker 1: laughed as you do. This happened actually all the way
- 40:52Speaker 1: back in twenty twenty one. The disciplinary thing still has
- 40:56Speaker 1: not been resolved. Man, that thing's just kind of hanging
- 41:00Speaker 1: in the air.
- 41:00Speaker 2: It's just lingering.
- 41:06Speaker 1: They're just waiting to decide if it qualified as gross misconduct.
- 41:11Speaker 1: If so, he'll lose his job.
- 41:13Speaker 3: I wonder if they're going to go with the he
- 41:15Speaker 3: who he who smelted delt it? Uh of justice?
- 41:21Speaker 1: Yeah, And that's the interesting thing about this case is
- 41:23Speaker 1: no one's questioning who done it because they know it's
- 41:29Speaker 1: just a matter of the sentence. Does the punishment need
- 41:33Speaker 1: to fit the crime. We're talking four years. They haven't
- 41:37Speaker 1: decided whether or not this officer should keep his job.
- 41:40Speaker 1: Let me ask you this. In those four years since
- 41:42Speaker 1: he farted in his coworker's face, has he done anything
- 41:46Speaker 1: useful for the community as a police officer?
- 41:52Speaker 4: What does rehabilitation look like?
- 41:58Speaker 1: It's a good question.
- 42:00Speaker 2: Where do you go?
- 42:02Speaker 4: I'll tell you where you go? The uh oh no,
- 42:07Speaker 4: the better marriage blanket. You just make a little diaper
- 42:09Speaker 4: out of it.
- 42:12Speaker 1: The better coworker underwear.
- 42:16Speaker 2: Just wrap it like a sarrong from the waist down.
- 42:21Speaker 1: That'll look great in the cop uniform.
- 42:24Speaker 2: Did we just do we?
- 42:25Speaker 1: Is that man pulling us out? Is he walking up
- 42:28Speaker 1: to our car wearing a sarong?
- 42:29Speaker 2: That's old officer filatulent Phil.
- 42:36Speaker 1: Maybe that would take the sting out of that of
- 42:38Speaker 1: the prank, though, because you're not gonna waste your time
- 42:41Speaker 1: asking anyone to pull your finger if you know that
- 42:43Speaker 1: the smell is going to be muffled by your you know,
- 42:47Speaker 1: flatulence killing sarong.
- 42:50Speaker 4: So I'm gonna go find Vince. We got the fart.
- 42:52Speaker 1: Wow, Billy Mays is so lucky he's dead. For all
