- 0:00Speaker 1: Come on. Uh-huh. I sure will. Good morning, everybody. Y'all
- 0:07Speaker 1: listening to The Voice. Come on, dig me now. One
- 0:10Speaker 1: and only Steve Harvey. Man, oh man, got a radio show. Yeah,
- 0:14Speaker 1: I do. God's so big to me, man. I just
- 0:17Speaker 1: have to tell you about it. I can't help it.
- 0:20Speaker 1: It's rather obvious to me how big, how good God is.
- 0:25Speaker 1: He's absolutely tremendous. He's off the chain. He own one.
- 0:32Speaker 1: He be clowning. He be just showing out, man. I'm
- 0:36Speaker 1: just over here just on the receiving end. You know,
- 0:40Speaker 1: if you out there, start your mission today. Start your
- 0:45Speaker 1: mission today. What are you waiting for? Why do we
- 0:51Speaker 1: as people delay what we want or delay the process
- 1:00Speaker 1: to begin what we want, our hopes, our dreams, our desires.
- 1:05Speaker 1: Why won't you start your mission today? Why don't we
- 1:09Speaker 1: all decide together that just individually, look, you listening, you
- 1:16Speaker 1: got something that you've been dreaming about. You got an
- 1:18Speaker 1: ambition of yours that's not yet fulfilled. You got goals
- 1:22Speaker 1: you haven't accomplished yet. Everybody has them. Everybody's got them.
- 1:27Speaker 1: Everybody's got something that's on the table that they haven't
- 1:31Speaker 1: yet attacked yet. What are you waiting for? Start your
- 1:35Speaker 1: mission today. Stop the procrastination now. The procrastination is only
- 1:40Speaker 1: hurting you, yourself. If you got a goal, an aspiration,
- 1:45Speaker 1: a dream, and you fall off track momentarily, you can
- 1:49Speaker 1: get back to that because God know where you left off. Now,
- 1:54Speaker 1: you may have to accomplish a few more things since
- 1:56Speaker 1: you stopped for a long period of time. But God
- 1:58Speaker 1: know where you left off. You can get back on track. Look, man,
- 2:02Speaker 1: this dream of being on TV since I was a kid,
- 2:05Speaker 1: it got off track now. It got off track. I
- 2:09Speaker 1: just kept it as one of the dreams. And in
- 2:12Speaker 1: some real dark moments when it looked like it wasn't
- 2:15Speaker 1: going to happen, all I was hanging on to was
- 2:18Speaker 1: just to hope that one day it could. But that's
- 2:21Speaker 1: what faith is really about. Faith is the belief in
- 2:24Speaker 1: things that you cannot see. But faith gives you the
- 2:28Speaker 1: confidence to keep hoping, man. Sometimes it just keep hope alive.
- 2:33Speaker 1: Sometimes you heard Jesse Jackson say it. Just keep hope alive. Sometimes, man,
- 2:38Speaker 1: it's just the hope. I was hanging on the hope.
- 2:42Speaker 1: And I'm talking about when it got real ugly and
- 2:45Speaker 1: funky out there for me, when it looked like I
- 2:47Speaker 1: wasn't going to ever make it. And all of the
- 2:51Speaker 1: facts was in and everything pointed in the direction. You're
- 2:54Speaker 1: not going to make it. You don't really messed up
- 2:56Speaker 1: this time. Then I sat there and I just hung
- 3:00Speaker 1: on to the hope. But man, that's what I'm saying.
- 3:04Speaker 1: If you got a dream or an aspiration or vision
- 3:07Speaker 1: or something, when you fall off track and you want
- 3:10Speaker 1: to go get back in line, God holds your place. See,
- 3:15Speaker 1: he held on to that for me. He knew I
- 3:17Speaker 1: was off track and out of line, but he said, okay,
- 3:20Speaker 1: here's where we stop. You want to be on TV. Now,
- 3:23Speaker 1: when you get it together and you quit tripping and
- 3:25Speaker 1: you come and you turn to me, I'm going to
- 3:27Speaker 1: hold your place, put you back in line. Then we
- 3:28Speaker 1: go and finish the journey. That took me a lot
- 3:30Speaker 1: longer to get here than I wanted to, but then
- 3:33Speaker 1: it was necessary because I needed all of them mishaps
- 3:36Speaker 1: to happen to me along the way. So when I
- 3:38Speaker 1: got on the radio one day, which I did not
- 3:40Speaker 1: see coming, Steve Harvey got a radio show, y'all. That's
- 3:43Speaker 1: why I say it every day. See, because of this
- 3:46Speaker 1: radio show that I didn't see coming, now I have
- 3:48Speaker 1: stories to tell. I got experiences to share. And I
- 3:54Speaker 1: can tell you about me better than I can tell
- 3:56Speaker 1: you about anybody. And I done been through enough where
- 3:59Speaker 1: it's relatable, where enough people can go, man, that happened
- 4:03Speaker 1: to me. Appreciate you saying that. That's what it was for. See,
- 4:06Speaker 1: I get it now. See, at the time, though, I
- 4:08Speaker 1: didn't like what was happening to me. At the time,
- 4:12Speaker 1: I was really in total disagreement with God on a
- 4:14Speaker 1: lot of stuff he was pulling off on me. But
- 4:17Speaker 1: in essence, I was really pulling it off on myself.
- 4:20Speaker 1: But through his grace and mercy, he kept me through
- 4:23Speaker 1: all of my mistakes, all my bad decisions, all my miscalculations,
- 4:28Speaker 1: all my misfires, all the times I knowingly stepped out
- 4:32Speaker 1: there and did wrong. He forgave me. He said, because, man,
- 4:37Speaker 1: if you ever come to me, I have a plan
- 4:40Speaker 1: for you. That is going to be far and above.
- 4:44Speaker 1: It will supersede everything you've ever dreamed of. That's what
- 4:48Speaker 1: I did. I just got sick of me. Good and
- 4:51Speaker 1: sick of me. And I turned it over to God.
- 4:54Speaker 1: And then God started working. And here I am today.
- 4:58Speaker 1: Nasty through with me yet. Nope. Have I arrived yet? Nope.
- 5:03Speaker 1: But guess what? The journey is cool. You know, it's
- 5:07Speaker 1: like I was talking to this young brother the other
- 5:09Speaker 1: day about comedy. He's a really good stand-up, you know,
- 5:13Speaker 1: this young dude that's really good. He said, man, what
- 5:16Speaker 1: is this I feel every night before I go on stage?
- 5:20Speaker 1: I don't know what it is. I just want it
- 5:22Speaker 1: off me. I said, sir, listen to me, young dude.
- 5:26Speaker 1: This thing that climbs on my back every night before
- 5:30Speaker 1: I go on stage, I don't know what it is.
- 5:33Speaker 1: It's got something to do with pressure. It's got something
- 5:35Speaker 1: to do with anticipation. It's got a whole lot to
- 5:38Speaker 1: do with the fear of falling. He said, what you
- 5:41Speaker 1: mean by that? I said, every night I walk out
- 5:43Speaker 1: on stage. It's like I'm about to go and step
- 5:46Speaker 1: off a cliff. I say it's a sickening feeling. He said, man,
- 5:50Speaker 1: but you do so well. I said, that's because the
- 5:53Speaker 1: parachute opens. I say, but I want you to understand something.
- 5:56Speaker 1: When I first walk out there, it's just stepping off
- 5:59Speaker 1: the cliff. Now, these jokes provide a parachute, which slows
- 6:05Speaker 1: my descent when I jump off the cliff and I
- 6:08Speaker 1: turn it into a glide. And then I take the
- 6:11Speaker 1: audience this way and I swing them back over to
- 6:13Speaker 1: that way. We might swing out to the Colorado Rockies.
- 6:17Speaker 1: We may go down to Miami with this joke. We
- 6:19Speaker 1: may take it on out to L.A. And I just
- 6:22Speaker 1: swing back and forth till I land softly. The crowd cheers.
- 6:26Speaker 1: The night is over with. I said, but it's been
- 6:28Speaker 1: too many nights, though, when I walked off that cliff
- 6:31Speaker 1: and I pulled the cord and the parachute didn't open.
- 6:34Speaker 1: I said, no, I'm just free falling out there for
- 6:36Speaker 1: 30 minutes. Ain't no jokes working. Ain't the parachute didn't open.
- 6:41Speaker 1: I said, so see, that's what it's like for me.
- 6:44Speaker 1: And then, you know what I found out? If you
- 6:46Speaker 1: don't walked off the cliff in life and you ain't
- 6:49Speaker 1: got no God in your life, it's like not having
- 6:52Speaker 1: a parachute. You step off the cliff and you just
- 6:56Speaker 1: free falling. Now see, we all, now that fall gets
- 7:00Speaker 1: you closer to the grave, right? See, we all heading
- 7:02Speaker 1: to the grave from the moment we born. But the
- 7:05Speaker 1: cool thing about a relationship with God is, When you
- 7:07Speaker 1: step off the cliff and you got God, he a parachute.
- 7:11Speaker 1: You still going down, but it's a nice ride. And
- 7:15Speaker 1: God just helps your descent appear more like a rise
- 7:19Speaker 1: and more like a euphoric fall. Instead of not having
- 7:23Speaker 1: no God in your life and you just walking off
- 7:26Speaker 1: that cliff every day, free falling, ain't got no cord,
- 7:30Speaker 1: you steady pulling, you hollering the whole way because you
- 7:33Speaker 1: messed around with yourself and ain't let God come into
- 7:36Speaker 1: your life and provide a parachute for you. I would
- 7:40Speaker 1: rather have a parachute since I got to jump every
- 7:43Speaker 1: day than to not have one. God has been like
- 7:46Speaker 1: a parachute for me. Ask me where that came from.
- 7:51Speaker 1: I can't tell you. But like I always say, most
- 7:54Speaker 1: good things that happen in my life that I can't
- 7:56Speaker 1: explain is usually him. You're listening to the Steve Harvey
- 8:00Speaker 1: Morning Show.
