- 0:02Speaker 1: Yesterday, Carrie, you tease us a little bit with page
- 0:07Niebauer and some secrets to doing some Christmas bits that
- 0:12will make our radio show pop.
- 0:13Speaker 2: Well, this guy, Paige Nyebarry, he's like one of the
- 0:16top consultant radio consultants in the industry.
- 0:20Speaker 1: I think he may be the best. Yeah, that's what
- 0:23they say, that's what he says.
- 0:25Speaker 2: But he gave us a list of the I think
- 0:27it's thirty seven bits of Christmas.
- 0:30Speaker 3: So the things are going to put us over the edge.
- 0:32Speaker 2: Guarantee if we do this, we'll be number one in
- 0:37no time.
- 0:37Speaker 1: Okay, it's Radio from Hell with another list because people
- 0:42love a good list X ninety six.
- 0:45Speaker 2: Let me get my notebook here, all right, I'm not
- 0:47going to do all thirty seven.
- 0:49Speaker 1: We're going to do a few here.
- 0:52Speaker 2: Morning show Christmas pageant, a Christmas for all the listeners
- 0:57who didn't get chosen to be in the school's production.
- 1:00Finally you can be in it. The audience will be
- 1:04way larger than than the crowded masses in the gym.
- 1:08Write up a quick play about the holidays at your station,
- 1:12throwing some standards and your set. You put on a play.
- 1:16Speaker 1: Who we get to be the baby Jesus. I wonder
- 1:20we have to the horse a crash.
- 1:25Speaker 2: Isn't that obvious? It would be Geena. It would be
- 1:27Gina because she would remain seated. I don't get to
- 1:31be merry.
- 1:32Speaker 1: You'd have to be merry because you're Catholic.
- 1:36Speaker 2: There's another hurry. Was I think she was?
- 1:40Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 1:41Speaker 2: Santa Idol, which is a talent competition in studio between.
- 1:48Speaker 1: Mall Santa to get people get.
- 1:51Speaker 2: Mal Santa's and they come in and they would they
- 1:54would sing a song or something, or just.
- 1:57Speaker 1: Get people to come in and be say, let's see
- 2:01if you're qualified to be a Santa.
- 2:02Speaker 2: See the possibilities are, and there really are. So I
- 2:07don't think that's true.
- 2:08Speaker 3: I think at some point you will have run out
- 2:10of bust.
- 2:13Speaker 2: Uh. Mary matrimony, Mary matrimony, Emmy r R y Oh.
- 2:20You know what no station has ever done, Mary Santa.
- 2:25What You could either find a mal Santa in a
- 2:28long relationship and you ambush his girlfriend at work, or
- 2:33you bring in mister and Missus Claus to renew their
- 2:35vows on the air surrounded by elves.
- 2:39Speaker 1: This could get you arrested. I think.
- 2:42Speaker 2: Mary, see I think it would be better if you
- 2:44just had somebody who was licensed to marry people and
- 2:47have them dressed as Santa. Yeah, that's what I thought.
- 2:50Speaker 1: It could get.
- 2:50Speaker 2: Married by that. That's what I would do married by.
- 2:53But I'm not Paige. No single mom seeks Santa.
- 2:59Speaker 1: It's the what you.
- 3:00Speaker 3: Fantas, what you think.
- 3:03Speaker 2: Uh, what you do is you get moms to bring
- 3:09in those hard together, hard to put together toys, you know,
- 3:13single single moms. No, don't grown at this bill. This
- 3:17is a great idea, and single guys can help them
- 3:20put them together so that on Christmas morning they're already
- 3:22assembled for the kids.
- 3:25Speaker 1: I they it would do that on the radio, that
- 3:28would be really well.
- 3:28Speaker 3: No, I'm just saying I have been single mom at
- 3:33Christmas and having to put things together that I couldn't
- 3:36put together. Well, it'd be nice to have some help.
- 3:38Speaker 2: But this does two things. It helps out single moms
- 3:41and allows single moms to come meet single guys who
- 3:43are cool with them having kids.
- 3:44Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 3:45Speaker 2: I don't this one.
- 3:46Speaker 3: I don't mind this one.
- 3:47Speaker 1: Well, when you like, that's fine and real, but but
- 3:49how does it how does it come across on the radio.
- 3:54I don't know.
- 3:56Speaker 2: A scroogeous boss contest. Have all the people call in
- 4:01with stories about how cheap their employers. That's a good expole. Actually,
- 4:05then throw a giant nightclub party for the staff of
- 4:08all these companies.
- 4:08Speaker 3: I mean not that we're not going to do that,
- 4:10but maybe for an expole.
- 4:11Speaker 1: Yeah, I think it's a good way to get a
- 4:14lot of people in our audience fired.
- 4:16Speaker 3: Well, you don't see the name of the business.
- 4:18Speaker 1: Oh, they figure it out.
- 4:21Speaker 2: Let's see holiday party at the station. They got a
- 4:25guy who played piano at Mall's during the shopping season
- 4:28and set him up in the lobby. Then they had
- 4:31punch and cookies and mistletoe and a tree, and people
- 4:34from downtown buildings could wander over throughout the day, meet
- 4:37the staff, mingle and register for prize.
- 4:40Speaker 3: Now we had for a few years the radio from
- 4:43Hell Santa our official. We hired an actor to play
- 4:49Santa and come to our to our events we've done.
- 4:55Speaker 2: Here's one hospital visits an oldie but a goody. Unless
- 5:00you've never dressed as Santa and gone to children's hospital,
- 5:03you'll never know how large of a promotion this is.
- 5:07Speaker 1: So so you're you're going going for ratings on the
- 5:09misery of children.
- 5:11Speaker 2: But I was fired because I refused to dress up
- 5:13as Santa. What what is that story and go visit
- 5:16the hospital?
- 5:16Speaker 3: How do I not know this story?
- 5:18Speaker 2: First radio gig, they said, we want you to dress
- 5:22up as Santa and go visit people at the hospital.
- 5:26And I said why me? I said, well, you just
- 5:29seem like a good candidate. I said, it's because I'm
- 5:31the fat one, right, No, no, why don't you dress
- 5:35up as Santa and go visit them?
- 5:37Speaker 1: And you got fired.
- 5:38Speaker 2: We don't like your attitude. He was looking for a
- 5:41reason to fire me.
- 5:42Speaker 3: How have I never heard that story a.
- 5:44Speaker 2: Long long time?
- 5:45Speaker 1: It was my first radio gig.
- 5:47Speaker 2: He was picking on me because I was the fat
- 5:49person in the building. I was like, no, you do it,
- 5:53you do it. He was mad at me for being
- 5:56barefoot in the station anyway, So.
- 5:59Speaker 1: I think I think it was. I also had a
- 6:00lot to do with the fact that you always get
- 6:02the new person to do stuff because nobody else wants
- 6:06to do it. I've been there a year.
- 6:07Speaker 2: And a half by the moment, so it's hardly the
- 6:10new person anyway. All right, Well, there's just a few
- 6:13we've hoped you'd enjoyed another list with Radio from Hell
- 6:17on X ninety six. There's more.
- 6:20Speaker 1: I don't think we'll do any of those things.
- 6:22Speaker 2: None of those things.
