- 0:38Speaker 4: Yeah, I feel like our New England culture is being

- 1:19Speaker 2: All right, welcome the Patriots Unfiltered. It is Thursday here
- 1:23Speaker 2: at Jillette Stadium. It's Alex, It's Deuce, it's Me, It's
- 1:27Speaker 2: Matt and Na Booth. We're knocketing off another off season
- 1:32Speaker 2: edition of Patriots Unfiltered. Not too many of those left, No,
- 1:35Speaker 2: not too many of those left. We're getting closer.
- 1:37Speaker 1: We are.
- 1:38Speaker 2: Every day brings us closer to the opening of camp
- 1:40Speaker 2: on July twenty third. Be there with bells on.
- 1:43Speaker 1: I know we put out the schedule I saw. I
- 1:45Speaker 1: mean the first two weeks open. So if you want
- 1:48Speaker 1: to know which day to go, check out is Patriot Social.
- 1:51Speaker 2: The other cool thing that's going on on that opening day,
- 1:54Speaker 2: which I found out a few days ago, is the
- 1:57Speaker 2: Patriot are gonna have a pet adoption Day. It's for dogs,
- 2:01Speaker 2: but you can come and actually adopt the dog right
- 2:06Speaker 2: there at camp. They're gonna have a big area set up.
- 2:08Speaker 2: I think they're gonna have like twenty to twenty five
- 2:10Speaker 2: eligible dogs, puppies and dogs from three I think local
- 2:16Speaker 2: you know shelters yep, and like that same day you
- 2:21Speaker 2: could go home with a dog. The dog will have
- 2:23Speaker 2: all its papers, all its shots. You know. You can
- 2:27Speaker 2: pick the dog, adopt it. You can leave it, you know,
- 2:31Speaker 2: with the you know, in the nice area and go
- 2:33Speaker 2: to practice and pick it up after practice. Or you
- 2:36Speaker 2: can just come and adopt the dog and go home.
- 2:40Speaker 2: But that's pretty cool.
- 2:42Speaker 3: I love it.
- 2:42Speaker 4: I think the I think the shelters are the Berkshire
- 2:46Speaker 4: Berkshire Animal Rescue out in Pittsfield, the Potters League down
- 2:50Speaker 4: in Rhode Island, and then the Animal League Rescue in Boston,
- 2:54Speaker 4: which doctor Dianacraft is on the board of.
- 2:57Speaker 1: Okay, well, Steve and I just adopted a dog in
- 3:00Speaker 1: March because we would have been back to the market
- 3:02Speaker 1: for it.
- 3:02Speaker 2: I guess we all, well, most people, except for Paul
- 3:08Speaker 2: I have a soft spot spot for these dogs, you know.
- 3:11Speaker 3: Yeah, I can't even know that two fresh.
- 3:15Speaker 2: Like I don't understand how a child or a dog
- 3:18Speaker 2: doesn't have a home.
- 3:19Speaker 1: I know, Oh yeah, you know what I mean. Well,
- 3:21Speaker 1: I just I mean, this has been a whole new
- 3:22Speaker 1: experience for me. I wasn't a dog guy growing up.
- 3:25Speaker 1: I just never had a dog, and now that we've
- 3:27Speaker 1: got Zook the Chewini, he's been awesome. CHOWEENI he's a chewiny.
- 3:31Speaker 1: You have Chihuahua and dackson.
- 3:33Speaker 2: So they call him chin They have chihuaha and half WIENI.
- 3:36Speaker 1: Well technically that's what he is. But it's been a
- 3:39Speaker 1: really great experience getting tone to die and like it's
- 3:41Speaker 1: all new for me for three months. But he's just
- 3:43Speaker 1: been such a net positive on our house now it's
- 3:45Speaker 1: like you gotta take them off or positive. A net positive,
- 3:47Speaker 1: I would say reviewing the dog is a net positive.
- 3:50Speaker 1: But uh, you know, I mean he likes to hunt
- 3:52Speaker 1: chipmunks sometimes, so if it's a little it's a little.
- 3:54Speaker 2: Dicey at times, dog goes nuts.
- 3:56Speaker 1: Does he get him? Does he ever get any of them?
- 3:58Speaker 2: Well, he's not a leash. But you know they make
- 4:01Speaker 2: that noise, you know, distinctive noise, and it's like they
- 4:04Speaker 2: they torment him.
- 4:06Speaker 1: Yeah, that's what they do to mine dog too. They're
- 4:07Speaker 1: just taunting him from like the trees.
- 4:09Speaker 3: But it's great.
- 4:10Speaker 4: Because like those little terrier dogs, they keep the mice away.
- 4:13Speaker 4: So it's like, what would you rather do with your dog?
- 4:15Speaker 4: Making weird noises in the house.
- 4:17Speaker 1: Yeah, it's no, it's been great. It's been great, and
- 4:19Speaker 1: my kids have you know, loved it and you know,
- 4:21Speaker 1: it's just the only little guy that comes up and
- 4:23Speaker 1: cuddles with you, and he's been the perfect fit for
- 4:25Speaker 1: our family. So it's been it's awesome. So hopefully somebody
- 4:27Speaker 1: has the same experiences.
- 4:28Speaker 2: Yeah, so he'sly twenty third opening day of camp. It's
- 4:31Speaker 2: a Wednesday. Come on down and check out the dogs,
- 4:35Speaker 2: and if you fall in love with one of them,
- 4:36Speaker 2: you can take it home.
- 4:37Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 4:38Speaker 2: So I think that's really good. I hope all of
- 4:41Speaker 2: them go home. Yeah, I would hate, like, you know,
- 4:43Speaker 2: two of them don't get.
- 4:44Speaker 3: Picked and they have to give you to take them home.
- 4:47Speaker 2: I already have a dog, but one's enough.
- 4:49Speaker 1: But I didn't realize that getting a rescue dogs not
- 4:52Speaker 1: a flex kind of but it's like kind of a
- 4:54Speaker 1: special thing. Like I didn't realize like if you have
- 4:56Speaker 1: a rescue, that's like a whole subset of dog owners that,
- 4:59Speaker 1: oh you have rescue. That's that's cool that you went
- 5:01Speaker 1: and got, you know, a dog, rather than a designer
- 5:04Speaker 1: dog that cost all kinds of money.
- 5:05Speaker 2: I think, so instead of getting in from these puppy mills.
- 5:08Speaker 4: Puppy mills, and also just unethical breeders like you mentioned
- 5:12Speaker 4: the designer dogs. Like a lot of dogs are bred
- 5:15Speaker 4: for those really desirable athletic traits, but it's not aligned
- 5:20Speaker 4: with the evolution of the dog. Like a French bulldog
- 5:22Speaker 4: for example. People like the really short snouts, but evolutionarily
- 5:27Speaker 4: you want a longer snout because they have breathing problems.
- 5:30Speaker 4: They have heart problems as a result, and like the
- 5:32Speaker 4: doodles they're breeding now are just so neurotic. They have
- 5:36Speaker 4: such insane anxiety, and the poodle is a great, really
- 5:39Speaker 4: smart dog.
- 5:40Speaker 2: I don't like the designer breeding, but I have a
- 5:43Speaker 2: I've always had a theory that mixed breed dogs like
- 5:47Speaker 2: just natural healthiest. I think are healthiest because they adopt
- 5:50Speaker 2: the strongest genes from both dogs.
- 5:52Speaker 1: Definitely, yeah, I think that's the case.
- 5:54Speaker 2: Like my dog is part terrier and part it might
- 5:57Speaker 2: be Corgie. I'm not even sure it was a rescue dog.
- 6:01Speaker 2: It was really sketchy. Off of Facebook. They had these
- 6:05Speaker 2: dogs free dog and so if you wanted one of
- 6:08Speaker 2: these dogs, you had to meet up behind the Uh,
- 6:13Speaker 2: what's the tractor hardware? Place tractor tractor supply in Rhode Island,
- 6:18Speaker 2: and they showed up with this this pit, this truck
- 6:22Speaker 2: with all these dogs, and you know, you showed your
- 6:25Speaker 2: ID that you already signed up for this dog and
- 6:28Speaker 2: you took it home. And it was almost like clandestine, right,
- 6:31Speaker 2: you know what's yeah I want And that's how we
- 6:35Speaker 2: got our dog.
- 6:37Speaker 1: What I've learned over this process, though, is that they
- 6:39Speaker 1: get all the dog shipments up from the South and.
- 6:42Speaker 2: Yeah, this was my dogs from Arkansas.
- 6:44Speaker 1: And I guess they don't really give a crap about
- 6:46Speaker 1: dogs down in the South.
- 6:47Speaker 4: So much just abandoned them in the woods, you trash dumpsters.
- 6:51Speaker 1: Like we're so curious about our dogs. He's got like
- 6:53Speaker 1: a scar on his head. He had heartworm at one point,
- 6:56Speaker 1: and like we know we might have been in a home,
- 6:57Speaker 1: but like, you're just so curious about the story we're
- 7:00Speaker 1: talking to. Another family had a similar situation where they
- 7:02Speaker 1: got to a rescue dog and they were just so
- 7:04Speaker 1: curious about the story that like she's like I tracked
- 7:06Speaker 1: down the people in the town in Texas where and
- 7:10Speaker 1: they were just like, man, you people in the Northeast
- 7:13Speaker 1: really love your dogs, don't you, Like I mean, down there,
- 7:15Speaker 1: it just seems like your dog goes away. Just get
- 7:16Speaker 1: another dog, but there everywhere, just grab my sister.
- 7:19Speaker 4: My sister did a little stet in Americ Corpse after
- 7:22Speaker 4: high school before college, and part of what she was
- 7:24Speaker 4: doing was down in Gaveleston, Texas doing hurricane restoration. So
- 7:28Speaker 4: between them, not to generalize, it's not, but there's so
- 7:32Speaker 4: many more natural disasters and hurricanes and stuff, so these
- 7:36Speaker 4: animals get displaced that way too. And working down there,
- 7:39Speaker 4: she realized like, oh my god, I need to get
- 7:41Speaker 4: into veterinary sciences.
- 7:42Speaker 1: So she grab a dog. You want to start out with.
- 7:46Speaker 4: Well, the shelters, really good shelters and animal rescues do
- 7:48Speaker 4: a great job because they don't want it to happen again.
- 7:51Speaker 4: They don't want dogs to kept, so they really do
- 7:54Speaker 4: due diligence to make sure that the dogs are being
- 7:57Speaker 4: fit with families, that the breed, if it's well in
- 8:00Speaker 4: their lifestyle. They're coming with all the shots, they're coming
- 8:03Speaker 4: with all like the vet appointments you have to do
- 8:06Speaker 4: with like a little puppy that they're ready to go,
- 8:08Speaker 4: you know.
- 8:08Speaker 3: So it's just it's a great option to adopt a dog.
- 8:12Speaker 2: All right. So July twenty third, dogs come get a dog,
- 8:17Speaker 2: and I would imagine if it's a big success, they'll
- 8:19Speaker 2: do it again. Sure, you know, why not?
- 8:21Speaker 4: Yeah, we had an event earlier in May. It was
- 8:24Speaker 4: the first one about Patriot Place. It's a rainy day,
- 8:26Speaker 4: but it was still successful. Watched the dog get adopted.
- 8:28Speaker 4: It was just a really sweet moment.
- 8:31Speaker 1: It's cute.
- 8:31Speaker 3: It's a good day to bring your kids to camp.
- 8:33Speaker 2: Yeah, all right, so Patriots. The NFL Top one hundred
- 8:40Speaker 2: list came out and officially and Gonzo is on it.
- 8:46Speaker 1: Four Yeah, yeah, I just watched the segment they released
- 8:49Speaker 1: on him. Congratulations Christian, well deserved and I think they
- 8:52Speaker 1: really do a good job highlighting what a strong year
- 8:54Speaker 1: he had last year, going against a lot of the
- 8:56Speaker 1: top receivers around the league. Showed some highlights of I
- 9:00Speaker 1: think you don't remember. Against the Jets, he had a
- 9:01Speaker 1: nice past breakup on DeVante Adams down here the goal line.
- 9:04Speaker 1: Also showed a nice past breakup that he had against
- 9:07Speaker 1: Marvin Harrison Junior in Arizona talking to Arizona guys, talking
- 9:11Speaker 1: about we really need to focus on Christian Gonzalez. So
- 9:13Speaker 1: it's that's good. I mean, that's what we talk about.
- 9:15Speaker 1: They need talent and he's Scott talent.
- 9:16Speaker 2: Didn't They used to release this like bit by bit
- 9:18Speaker 2: in the past, so I think.
- 9:20Speaker 1: I think the full episode airs tonight, but they are
- 9:22Speaker 1: releasing a couple here and there of the videos. So
- 9:25Speaker 1: I believe the videos, I mean, like is honest. Yeah, yeah,
- 9:28Speaker 1: I know it's broken up. I think it's just eighty
- 9:30Speaker 1: to one hundred is the first.
- 9:32Speaker 2: Oh, okay, that's why we know about Gonzales.
- 9:34Speaker 1: Yeah, and they put up the video this morning of Gonzales.
- 9:38Speaker 1: I think. So we don't know the whole list yet, No,
- 9:40Speaker 1: not yet, not yet.
- 9:41Speaker 2: So was there a chance that another Patriots higher.
- 9:44Speaker 1: That's sure? Yeah, yeah, I mean there's chance there were
- 9:46Speaker 1: no Patriots on it last year, and now Gonzalez got
- 9:49Speaker 1: I can't imagine.
- 9:50Speaker 3: I imagine Gonzo would be the highest.
- 9:52Speaker 2: Yeah, I guess so.
- 9:53Speaker 1: Yeah, so unless.
- 9:54Speaker 3: Unless Diggs gets like an automatic.
- 9:59Speaker 1: I mean that's the injury. Which, by the way, there
- 10:03Speaker 1: was a video too. I finally had a chance to
- 10:05Speaker 1: watch Defont Diggs talking on some jet but he was
- 10:07Speaker 1: just talking about learning McDaniel's system. I got me fired up.
- 10:11Speaker 1: You know, it's just you know what.
- 10:14Speaker 2: Paul shows right, Sometimes they just drive me crazy. They
- 10:18Speaker 2: took that quote that Diggs had about knowing what everybody
- 10:21Speaker 2: else is doing and that's important to him, and knowing
- 10:24Speaker 2: the contours of the routes and everything as Oh McDaniel, see,
- 10:28Speaker 2: he's saying McDaniel's system is too complicated.
- 10:31Speaker 1: It's like, how do you get that from that? Oh?
- 10:35Speaker 2: It just it just drove me crazy, the narrative that
- 10:37Speaker 2: they were trying to make that a negative. No, that's
- 10:40Speaker 2: a positive. It shows like there are a lot of
- 10:42Speaker 2: football players and Will McDonough, the late Will McDonough who
- 10:46Speaker 2: was the told me, I remember once we were in Pittsburgh.
- 10:48Speaker 2: He said, never ask a football player about football because
- 10:52Speaker 2: all they know is their own position. All they know
- 10:54Speaker 2: is what they're supposed to do, unless it's a quarterback.
- 10:58Speaker 2: You know. Now he might be exaggerating, obviously, but like
- 11:03Speaker 2: when I hear a football player like that saying I
- 11:05Speaker 2: need to know what everybody's doing on the field because
- 11:08Speaker 2: that makes me better.
- 11:09Speaker 1: I love that. Yeah, I love that.
- 11:11Speaker 2: That's not Oh, Josh McDaniel's system is very complicated and
- 11:15Speaker 2: I need to learn. I don't know where they got
- 11:18Speaker 2: that from.
- 11:18Speaker 1: It's a great debate to have because I've said before
- 11:21Speaker 1: in the past, if you're Josh McDaniels and you've established
- 11:24Speaker 1: a system to the point where it can almost be
- 11:26Speaker 1: a thinking organism after the snap and adjust accordingly, how
- 11:31Speaker 1: can you go back to like I don't know, I
- 11:33Speaker 1: got a bunch of dumb guys. We just have to
- 11:34Speaker 1: go to a basic system where it's like just run
- 11:36Speaker 1: the route. Like I can't imagine you would ever back
- 11:39Speaker 1: up after you've been to the point where you can
- 11:41Speaker 1: have a system that thinks after the snap and adjust
- 11:44Speaker 1: the defenses. So I get why Paul shows get upset
- 11:48Speaker 1: me it's perfect because that's been a knock on McDaniels.
- 11:51Speaker 1: But I think that that extracts from the equation with
- 11:54Speaker 1: something we've learned after this, which was that it was
- 11:56Speaker 1: a lot about Brady too.
- 11:57Speaker 2: It was a lot about Braiden. It was a lot
- 11:59Speaker 2: about Brady, but a lot of these receivers who didn't
- 12:02Speaker 2: make it here. It's not like they left here and
- 12:04Speaker 2: then you know, went crazy elsewhere. You know John Osmith recently,
- 12:08Speaker 2: But I think that was less about learning, you know,
- 12:13Speaker 2: the system and all that, and it was more about
- 12:15Speaker 2: how he was being used.
- 12:17Speaker 1: Yea, you know, a little bit of a different player
- 12:19Speaker 1: than they usually use. But yeah, look, this is a
- 12:21Speaker 1: young team, and I don't think anybody's expecting this to
- 12:23Speaker 1: be the best offense in the NFL right now in
- 12:26Speaker 1: twenty twenty five. But if you're realistically saying we want
- 12:29Speaker 1: to build something around Drake May for the long term,
- 12:32Speaker 1: then maybe you take some lumps this year and you
- 12:35Speaker 1: let Drake May learn this system inside and out so
- 12:37Speaker 1: that he can get to a level that Brady was at.
- 12:40Speaker 1: But I love hearing Stefan Diggs talk about things about
- 12:42Speaker 1: getting other players open and knowing, because that's I mean,
- 12:46Speaker 1: like you said, I mean, we know this about this system.
- 12:48Speaker 1: And there's a little concept. You know, it's a three
- 12:49Speaker 1: and two and three man route concept. So if you're
- 12:51Speaker 1: on this side with three guys and they say this
- 12:53Speaker 1: one word, whatever it might be, you got to know
- 12:56Speaker 1: what all three parts are doing because there's a chance,
- 12:58Speaker 1: especially a receiver like Diggs, that he could be in
- 13:00Speaker 1: any one of those positions. So just seeing the intensity
- 13:03Speaker 1: in his eyes and the focus, it's like, this system
- 13:06Speaker 1: isn't too complicated for really good players who really want it.
- 13:08Speaker 1: And even if it is, and even if it does
- 13:10Speaker 1: cause some growing pains this year. I'm okay with that
- 13:13Speaker 1: because we're building for the long term and I want
- 13:14Speaker 1: to get to a point where this is that offense.
- 13:16Speaker 1: Not that it'll be a level that Tom Brady had.
- 13:18Speaker 1: That might be unrealistic, But I still think Drake May
- 13:21Speaker 1: can get to a point where he knows what everybody's doing.
- 13:24Speaker 1: He's gonna understand things quickly. We just have to be
- 13:27Speaker 1: acknowledged there might be some growing pains, but I don't
- 13:29Speaker 1: want to dumb down the system because you don't think, you.
- 13:32Speaker 2: Know, along the same lines, I don't think McDaniels. I
- 13:36Speaker 2: think McDaniels is smart enough to know that I can't
- 13:39Speaker 2: just dump it all on Drake May right from the start.
- 13:42Speaker 2: He's gonna, you know, ease him into it, and you
- 13:45Speaker 2: know it'll it'll be step by step, not just for
- 13:48Speaker 2: McDaniel's I mean for Drake May, but also for the receivers.
- 13:53Speaker 2: Tom Brady didn't have everything, all the answers on day one,
- 13:56Speaker 2: you know, year two or so. I think Josh try
- 14:00Speaker 2: us McDaniels to be smart enough to know how to implement,
- 14:05Speaker 2: you know, what he's trying to do.
- 14:07Speaker 1: You know.
- 14:07Speaker 2: I also we also know that McDaniels traveled around last
- 14:11Speaker 2: year to kind of learn what the new trends are,
- 14:14Speaker 2: what colleges are doing, what other teams are doing. That
- 14:18Speaker 2: tells me that he realizes he needs to adapt as well.
- 14:21Speaker 2: Sure you don't have Tom Brady. He knows that you know,
- 14:24Speaker 2: all these all these people that just want to force
- 14:28Speaker 2: feed the narrative that McDaniels is stuck in the mud
- 14:31Speaker 2: and this is what he does, and you know, helly
- 14:34Speaker 2: high water, you know we're gonna do it this way.
- 14:36Speaker 2: It like, I don't think. I don't think pretty much
- 14:40Speaker 2: any off any offensive coordinator who's any good does it
- 14:43Speaker 2: that way.
- 14:44Speaker 1: He's stuck in the mud because he's asking too much
- 14:46Speaker 1: of his players, Like that doesn't make sense to me.
- 14:48Speaker 2: That means that, you know, right, the professional football players,
- 14:51Speaker 2: they should there should be demands put on them.
- 14:54Speaker 4: And that's a defense that Hoyer had of McDaniels out
- 14:57Speaker 4: when they were in Vegas together. Was that not to
- 15:00Speaker 4: say Horier was calling out his former Vegas teammates, but
- 15:03Speaker 4: he really pushed back on the narrative that Josh was
- 15:07Speaker 4: the playbook, was too hard or he was too much
- 15:09Speaker 4: of like a hard ass and stuff. Brian was just
- 15:11Speaker 4: like I don't know, I experienced it in New England
- 15:14Speaker 4: with Josh, and it's just that was the expectation and
- 15:17Speaker 4: maybe in Vegas they didn't live up to that, maybe
- 15:19Speaker 4: they didn't have a player the caliber of Tom Brady
- 15:22Speaker 4: to pull everyone up to that. But to me, that's
- 15:24Speaker 4: kind of how I look at the critiques of what McDaniels.
- 15:28Speaker 2: You know, and one of the critiques with Daniels is
- 15:30Speaker 2: that he's never really succeeded without Tom Brady, you know,
- 15:34Speaker 2: for the most part. And you look at the Raiders,
- 15:37Speaker 2: you look at the Rams, and you look at Denver,
- 15:40Speaker 2: and that's true. But I think in those situations, well
- 15:44Speaker 2: not the Rams, but certainly with Denver and the Race,
- 15:47Speaker 2: he was also the head coach. And just like we've said,
- 15:50Speaker 2: you know, Bill, a GM has hurt build a coach.
- 15:52Speaker 2: I think Josh the GM, I mean Josh the coach,
- 15:56Speaker 2: probably hurt Josh the coordinator because he had to think
- 16:01Speaker 2: about all this other stuff too, right, and so he
- 16:05Speaker 2: wasn't able to give his full attention to being an
- 16:07Speaker 2: offensive coordinator. I think that hurt him. I think now
- 16:10Speaker 2: he's back to just being a coordinator, and I'm excited
- 16:15Speaker 2: about what he's going to do, and you think.
- 16:17Speaker 1: From Josh's perspective, I imagine there's not a lot of
- 16:20Speaker 1: like under the gun, I need this to be great,
- 16:22Speaker 1: Like he probably be here for a couple of years
- 16:24Speaker 1: at least, right, Like, he's not going to jump to
- 16:26Speaker 1: a head coaching job next year unless it goes amazing,
- 16:29Speaker 1: and I mean even then it might be a little
- 16:30Speaker 1: bit of a stretch. But I would imagine Josh is
- 16:33Speaker 1: trying to exhibit some patience too of look, I really
- 16:35Speaker 1: want to build something here. Sure he's heard everything you
- 16:38Speaker 1: just said, Fred, because every radio show talks about that,
- 16:40Speaker 1: they point out his other experiences and then when you
- 16:43Speaker 1: talk about his success here, it gets well that was
- 16:45Speaker 1: all Tom Brady. You know, you find a way to
- 16:47Speaker 1: completely minimize his success. So I'm sure he hears all
- 16:49Speaker 1: that stuff and says it's like I said, it's an
- 16:51Speaker 1: opportunity for Josh McDaniels to come in here re establish
- 16:54Speaker 1: this offense with a new quarterback under a new head coach.
- 16:57Speaker 1: And really, I mean, at what point has he ever
- 16:59Speaker 1: had somebody with the talent like Drake May has, like
- 17:02Speaker 1: you know Sam Bradford with the Rams, or you know
- 17:04Speaker 1: Tebow and Cutler and that was never like this opportunity.
- 17:07Speaker 2: And the problem is he's the one that chose Tebou
- 17:10Speaker 2: as the head coach, right, so again you think Josh
- 17:13Speaker 2: the head coach might have hurt Josh coordinated.
- 17:16Speaker 1: Right, right, right, So I I look, I think Josh
- 17:20Speaker 1: is an excellent football mind, and I just think he
- 17:22Speaker 1: gets a lot of you know, discredit, which is this
- 17:25Speaker 1: is what happens.
- 17:26Speaker 2: Like almost this is a perfect proving opportunity for him.
- 17:29Speaker 2: It is you got a second year quarterback who only
- 17:33Speaker 2: really won one game last year, had a lot of
- 17:36Speaker 2: you know, problems keeping the ball safe, the offense was
- 17:40Speaker 2: not good. So if all of a sudden they are
- 17:44Speaker 2: good this year, he should get a lot of the credit.
- 17:46Speaker 1: That's right, That's right. And then you know, and then
- 17:49Speaker 1: we can get to the point of it was all
- 17:50Speaker 1: Drake May again and you know it just had nothing
- 17:53Speaker 1: to do.
- 17:53Speaker 2: But sure, you know, of course Drake, they should also
- 17:56Speaker 2: get credit. But this is like football is the greatest
- 18:00Speaker 2: team sport ever made. I think coaching comes into play
- 18:04Speaker 2: more in football than any other sport. You can't do
- 18:08Speaker 2: it on your own.
- 18:08Speaker 1: Yeah, absolutely absolutely. That's why it's frustrated what you just said,
- 18:11Speaker 1: Fred is so true to me that this is the
- 18:13Speaker 1: ultimate team sport. And that's why when we get into
- 18:15Speaker 1: like divvying up credit in the minutia, it's like I
- 18:18Speaker 1: just zone out. It's not I don't care. I want
- 18:21Speaker 1: to see the team win, and you want to tell
- 18:23Speaker 1: me it was well sixty percent, this guy thirty percent,
- 18:25Speaker 1: this guy ten percent, Like, I don't care. You can
- 18:27Speaker 1: divide it up any way you want, but you need
- 18:29Speaker 1: to have everything in place, and it all has to
- 18:31Speaker 1: be working together to have a successful football team. No,
- 18:34Speaker 1: the greatest coach of all time ain't going to do
- 18:35Speaker 1: it all by himself without a quarterback. The greatest quarterback
- 18:38Speaker 1: in all time isn't you know, going to do it.
- 18:40Speaker 1: But I watch like Patrick Mahomes now, and I wonder,
- 18:42Speaker 1: at what point do we start saying Andy Reid's are
- 18:44Speaker 1: really lucky he got Patrick Mahomes because it's all Patrick
- 18:46Speaker 1: Mahomes like. Right now, they're still getting They're both getting credit. Right,
- 18:50Speaker 1: everyone's saying Andy Reid is the toast of the town
- 18:52Speaker 1: as far as coaching. You know, maybe you give it
- 18:54Speaker 1: a little credit to Philly for last year too, But
- 18:57Speaker 1: at some point is it going to change there or
- 18:58Speaker 1: is that just here? Is that just what we do
- 18:59Speaker 1: here will refine like, well we need to you know,
- 19:02Speaker 1: say it was all this guy and that's you know,
- 19:03Speaker 1: he's responsible. I don't know. They're great coach, great quarterback,
- 19:07Speaker 1: you need him both.
- 19:07Speaker 4: Yeah, the bigger picture is the culture that people like
- 19:10Speaker 4: that kind of everyone rises to that. And I don't know,
- 19:14Speaker 4: McDaniels went from an amazing culture here in New England
- 19:18Speaker 4: of winning an excellence and tried to emulate that as
- 19:20Speaker 4: a head coach. And it's just it's not something you
- 19:22Speaker 4: can just take out of thin air and make. So
- 19:25Speaker 4: now back here under Rabel who seemingly to us, it's
- 19:29Speaker 4: been great so far. The guys really seem to be
- 19:32Speaker 4: buying in. So hopefully it just gets to the old.
- 19:35Speaker 2: I mean, when you had the success that the Patriots had,
- 19:38Speaker 2: you know, it's natural to ask why, like why were
- 19:42Speaker 2: they so successful? And I think that's where this all
- 19:44Speaker 2: stems from. Who who's the architect, who gets the most credit?
- 19:49Speaker 2: Why did this happen? And it's fine, you know, I'm
- 19:54Speaker 2: reading the book by Gary Myers now the Belichick versus
- 19:57Speaker 2: Brady debate. You know, it's it's good reading. I live
- 20:03Speaker 2: through it, So I'm not really learning a lot, but
- 20:06Speaker 2: I'm not quite the way through. I think I'm probably
- 20:09Speaker 2: about two thirds of the way through. And right now
- 20:11Speaker 2: I see he's leaning probably towards Brady, you know, because
- 20:17Speaker 2: as any as good as any coach can be, it's
- 20:20Speaker 2: the players that have to execute it, the players that
- 20:23Speaker 2: have to.
- 20:23Speaker 1: Do And how much of Belichick was in Brady, you
- 20:26Speaker 1: know by that point of his knowledge that he's poured
- 20:29Speaker 1: into Brady. So yeah, there's no question the guy who's
- 20:31Speaker 1: got to be on the field, pulling the trigger, making
- 20:33Speaker 1: plays on the clutch, they get the most of the credit.
- 20:35Speaker 1: And Bill says that every time anyone asks me, and
- 20:37Speaker 1: I said from the.
- 20:39Speaker 2: Beginning, you know, when the debate first started, I think
- 20:42Speaker 2: both of them made each other better. You know, I
- 20:46Speaker 2: think Belichick would have been fine without Brady. Brady would
- 20:49Speaker 2: have been great without Belichick. But I don't think either
- 20:52Speaker 2: of them would have risen to the heights that they
- 20:54Speaker 2: did without each other. I think they both would have
- 20:57Speaker 2: found success, but to have this excess they had, I
- 21:01Speaker 2: think required a coach and a quarterback being on the
- 21:04Speaker 2: same page. And for most of the dynasty, I can't
- 21:08Speaker 2: say all of it, but for most of the dynasty
- 21:10Speaker 2: they certainly were.
- 21:12Speaker 1: You know, one more point, I just thought, well, I
- 21:15Speaker 1: was talking too, just in regards to McDaniels in his system,
- 21:18Speaker 1: where you have such a group of wide receivers that
- 21:22Speaker 1: you don't really know what you have, Well, let's let
- 21:25Speaker 1: this sort it out a little bit. Let's let what
- 21:27Speaker 1: guys can pick it up and are smart and are
- 21:29Speaker 1: on the ball, and you know, you're charting a course
- 21:32Speaker 1: this season forward. It isn't all about twenty twenty five.
- 21:34Speaker 1: It's about twenty twenty six and twenty twenty seven. You
- 21:37Speaker 1: got twelve or thirteen receivers on the roster right now.
- 21:40Speaker 1: We know Mac Hollins probably can figure it out. He's
- 21:42Speaker 1: played in it. Stefan Diggs has kind of played in
- 21:44Speaker 1: it with dable system. Who else can who else King?
- 21:46Speaker 2: So that's a good topic for discussion, because you're right.
- 21:52Speaker 2: Everything you said is right. Camp opens to the public
- 21:56Speaker 2: on July twenty third. The first preseason game is August eighth,
- 22:01Speaker 2: and then we're rolling. I mean, it's not you know,
- 22:04Speaker 2: you've got a month and a half before the first
- 22:07Speaker 2: regular season, you know, a month and a half from
- 22:09Speaker 2: the time camp opens. Six weeks until the first game
- 22:13Speaker 2: that counts. How quickly do you need to know who's
- 22:18Speaker 2: who when it comes to the receivers? And is there
- 22:22Speaker 2: a way to do that for McDaniels and Vrabel? Is
- 22:26Speaker 2: there a way to structure your practices in a way
- 22:28Speaker 2: that the cream rises to the cop the top quickly
- 22:32Speaker 2: because you don't have a lot of time for this.
- 22:34Speaker 1: No, And it goes on in the film room too,
- 22:37Speaker 1: And I imagine with so much of this being mental
- 22:39Speaker 1: that you're gonna know. And Vrabel is known for calling
- 22:43Speaker 1: guys out in practice and meetings, just like Belichick was.
- 22:47Speaker 1: But you're right, I wonder Mac Collins, is he healthy?
- 22:51Speaker 1: Is Stefan Diggs healthy? Are they ready to go? If
- 22:53Speaker 1: they're not ready to go? Does that maybe give a
- 22:55Speaker 1: little bit more of an apportain to some of these
- 22:57Speaker 1: younger guys to pick it up? But you know, for
- 23:00Speaker 1: someone like Javon Baker, for example, who some people are
- 23:03Speaker 1: still high on and think has an opportunity. Was he
- 23:06Speaker 1: able to get it up?
- 23:07Speaker 7: Is he?
- 23:07Speaker 1: Or do we get out there and you see not
- 23:09Speaker 1: just him, but any player like no, no, no, over there,
- 23:12Speaker 1: over there, you know, getting re lined up. We saw
- 23:13Speaker 1: a lot of that last year where we got to
- 23:16Speaker 1: stop re huddle those kind of things. Any of those
- 23:19Speaker 1: mistakes I think will really stand out during training camp.
- 23:21Speaker 1: Guys who just don't seem to be in the right
- 23:23Speaker 1: place at the right time. And that's I think a
- 23:25Speaker 1: big feature of Josh's system knowing what to do. So
- 23:28Speaker 1: it's a big thing. It's gonna be really interesting.
- 23:30Speaker 2: I've watched enough of these camps where you get the
- 23:33Speaker 2: early indicators about who they're favoring, who matches up with who,
- 23:38Speaker 2: who's getting the reps, that type of thing. So it
- 23:43Speaker 2: I think within the first certainly by the joint practice,
- 23:46Speaker 2: and after that, we'll kind of know.
- 23:50Speaker 1: Who who's running, who's with the top group, which is
- 23:52Speaker 1: probably gonna be five or six guys that are you know,
- 23:54Speaker 1: their two fields, they kind of divide up. You'll have
- 23:58Speaker 1: a sense of who's the type. You already have a
- 24:00Speaker 1: little bit of that sense. But it's uh, I think
- 24:04Speaker 1: it's be really interesting. I just think, you know, like
- 24:06Speaker 1: I said, Mac Hollins, that's probably why he's here a
- 24:08Speaker 1: little bit too. It's just he knows what Josh is selling.
- 24:11Speaker 1: He understands it. He had a great year under Josh's system,
- 24:14Speaker 1: but you know which of those guys does it? Does
- 24:16Speaker 1: it really click for Kaishan Boodie? Is he you know
- 24:19Speaker 1: those kind of things? And and it's Drake picking it
- 24:21Speaker 1: up too. Is Drake, you know, feeling comfortable? Yeah, that's
- 24:24Speaker 1: what we saw over the course of the spring, he
- 24:25Speaker 1: looked more.
- 24:26Speaker 2: Have we figured out where, uh, this little passing camp
- 24:30Speaker 2: happened with? Because I've heard Tampa and I've also heard
- 24:33Speaker 2: North Carolin.
- 24:33Speaker 4: I'm pretty sure North Carolina because then I saw another
- 24:36Speaker 4: video that was at Davidson Okay.
- 24:40Speaker 3: I saw the stadium and I looked at it.
- 24:41Speaker 1: So was that that was that the Drake to Remandre
- 24:44Speaker 1: on a on a.
- 24:45Speaker 2: What is it like a traveling road show? Can't they
- 24:49Speaker 2: just find one place and stick with it?
- 24:51Speaker 8: Well?
- 24:51Speaker 3: Is it confirmed that they were ever in Florida?
- 24:54Speaker 1: No, I don't know. They're caught conflicting reports about about
- 24:57Speaker 1: where they were.
- 24:58Speaker 4: But I looked at the actual state, looked it up
- 25:01Speaker 4: and it was Davidson.
- 25:02Speaker 1: Okay college.
- 25:03Speaker 2: That makes sense.
- 25:04Speaker 3: I don't know how far that is from the ocean.
- 25:06Speaker 2: Maybe they're I mean, I've heard everything from Drake's old
- 25:09Speaker 2: high school to some college. I've heard Tampa.
- 25:14Speaker 1: Well, it's it's I mean, this might sound silly, and
- 25:17Speaker 1: I wish Paul was here because he would probably make
- 25:18Speaker 1: fun of me and laugh about it. But like, I
- 25:20Speaker 1: really enjoyed seeing Drake launch that bomb to remondering, almost
- 25:24Speaker 1: more than watching the private workouts that most quarterbacks and
- 25:28Speaker 1: teams do. It just reminded me of a bunch of
- 25:32Speaker 1: boys hanging out doing stupid stuff together. Reminds me of like,
- 25:35Speaker 1: you know, some of my best friends from college that
- 25:37Speaker 1: I played with, and it's like, those are the bonds
- 25:40Speaker 1: I think that make teams. Yes, you want to go
- 25:42Speaker 1: work out, We're gonna throw some passes. Great, everybody's got
- 25:44Speaker 1: to do it, stay sharp, stay in shape a little bit.
- 25:47Speaker 1: But at the same time, like if you guys all
- 25:48Speaker 1: really really like each other, and I mean that that
- 25:50Speaker 1: to me and body did It's just like, what a
- 25:52Speaker 1: bunch of idiots out there. And I mean that in
- 25:54Speaker 1: a great way, you know, like that's what me and
- 25:55Speaker 1: my stupid friends are doing. Let's see we can complete
- 25:57Speaker 1: a pass off this thing, I'm gonna jump up. So
- 26:00Speaker 1: I think there's good vibes coming from the offense and
- 26:03Speaker 1: from Drake May and I just hope this momentum all
- 26:05Speaker 1: carries over. It's the same way last year. I remember
- 26:07Speaker 1: saying like this is great. Now every no one knows
- 26:09Speaker 1: anything about drop May or anything. But once we start playing,
- 26:12Speaker 1: you know it's going to start the game. Games are
- 26:13Speaker 1: gonna get lost, and problems will start to happen. But
- 26:15Speaker 1: right now, I think they got a lot of positive
- 26:17Speaker 1: momentum in more ways than one going into this training camp.
- 26:21Speaker 2: Mike and Florida writes in the difference between your show
- 26:24Speaker 2: and Paul's shows is that you are both critical of
- 26:26Speaker 2: the team, but you guys want us to win, and
- 26:29Speaker 2: those guys want us to lose because it helps their ratings.
- 26:31Speaker 2: Even the post game when they lose, the guy Joe
- 26:34Speaker 2: Murray sounds happy. It's crazy. I don't agree with that
- 26:38Speaker 2: completely because the ratings are worse in a town where
- 26:44Speaker 2: a team doesn't do well. The ratings are never better
- 26:47Speaker 2: for any of the shows than when the team is
- 26:51Speaker 2: doing well, whether it's the Patriots, Red Sox or whoever.
- 26:54Speaker 2: But for the host in the moment, it's kind of
- 26:59Speaker 2: better when this stuff to bitch about. Yeah, you know, so,
- 27:03Speaker 2: I agree that part, But the ratings are better when
- 27:08Speaker 2: the team is doing well.
- 27:10Speaker 1: I to be honest, and I usually will dabble during
- 27:14Speaker 1: the season because I feel like for these shows, we
- 27:16Speaker 1: need to stay sharp. And sometimes it's great to hear
- 27:18Speaker 1: Felger go on one of his rants and imagine how
- 27:21Speaker 1: I would respond to it, but without any pushback. Like
- 27:25Speaker 1: it was fun when the Patriots were good and it
- 27:28Speaker 1: was like, well, yeah, but Belichick's still gonna get you, you know,
- 27:30Speaker 1: And it's to me when they've been bad the last
- 27:33Speaker 1: couple of years, it just feels like punching down and
- 27:35Speaker 1: it's like anything that is possibly could be wrong, we're
- 27:38Speaker 1: going to shine a light on that, and it's like,
- 27:40Speaker 1: that's not this team anymore. This is like a team
- 27:42Speaker 1: that's young and unproven that I want to get excited
- 27:45Speaker 1: about to see grow together and not just sit there
- 27:48Speaker 1: and take a dump on every little minutia that is
- 27:50Speaker 1: wrong or like. So, I really haven't been listening to
- 27:53Speaker 1: any of Paul's shows at all lately, and I'm sure
- 27:56Speaker 1: that'll change a little bit once I get into the season,
- 27:58Speaker 1: but I just it doesn't ring true to me anymore.
- 27:59Speaker 1: It was fun when they were good and you were like, oh,
- 28:02Speaker 1: eedif Felger they won this one, or you know, But
- 28:04Speaker 1: when you're like, yeah, we know they're bad. They won
- 28:06Speaker 1: four games, Like, you're not telling me anything. I didn't know,
- 28:08Speaker 1: Like what do you what do you want to do?
- 28:10Speaker 1: It's just it's not compelling radio to me. I don't
- 28:12Speaker 1: know what the ratings are like for them, but to me,
- 28:15Speaker 1: it's just it's a lot more fun when there's some
- 28:17Speaker 1: back and forth and it feels like, oh, the Patriots
- 28:19Speaker 1: are good and maybe you're wrong about that. You're like, no, guys,
- 28:21Speaker 1: when you're saying this, they won four games last year,
- 28:23Speaker 1: Yeah they were bad.
- 28:24Speaker 4: I think audiences are just smarter now too, Like the
- 28:27Speaker 4: strategy of outrage sparking interest and clicks and headlines, it's
- 28:32Speaker 4: it's figured out by now.
- 28:34Speaker 1: Yeah, you know, you know the people who have it
- 28:36Speaker 1: down to an art form. I just find there's plenty
- 28:39Speaker 1: of stuff to talk about. I would have it constantly.
- 28:41Speaker 2: Yeah, well, listen, I think Felger does a great job.
- 28:44Speaker 2: If we're gonna name names, you know, so I don't
- 28:47Speaker 2: mind that at all. But my problem is there's rarely
- 28:52Speaker 2: someone to talk back. There's rarely someone there, either with
- 28:58Speaker 2: the hoodspa or the not college to go back at him. Yeah,
- 29:03Speaker 2: and I think that would make it even better if
- 29:05Speaker 2: there was always a pall in the studio or somebody
- 29:09Speaker 2: who could call him out or at least give the
- 29:12Speaker 2: counter argument. I think there's too much agreement on you know,
- 29:17Speaker 2: going on.
- 29:17Speaker 1: You're right, Mike, You're right. Yeah, No, I agree with you.
- 29:21Speaker 1: I think they're great at what they do. I'm just
- 29:23Speaker 1: saying for me and for like getting me excited about
- 29:27Speaker 1: arguing about the team or talking about talking points. It's like,
- 29:30Speaker 1: you're not really providing me any talking points that I'm
- 29:32Speaker 1: interested in talking about, Like right now, I love talking
- 29:34Speaker 1: about position battles and where the depth is and where
- 29:37Speaker 1: players need to emerge, and those things are so fascinating
- 29:39Speaker 1: to me. I could talk about them in the middle
- 29:41Speaker 1: of July when we have nothing to talk about for hours.
- 29:44Speaker 1: But you know, I think you have to kind of
- 29:46Speaker 1: do it in the season though. You have to be
- 29:47Speaker 1: on top of what they're talking about because they drive
- 29:50Speaker 1: a lot of the conversation. A lot of the calls
- 29:52Speaker 1: that we're going to get are people who heard that
- 29:54Speaker 1: what they were saying are like, I'm going to call
- 29:55Speaker 1: on the Patriots unfiltered and pairrot that to them now,
- 29:57Speaker 1: you know, so you got to be ready.
- 29:58Speaker 2: But more importantly you heard about Brady and Sophia.
- 30:02Speaker 3: Yes, I'm hoping we were talking.
- 30:04Speaker 2: About how how much older is she fifty?
- 30:07Speaker 1: Early fifties, she's the early fifties, he's like forty eight.
- 30:10Speaker 1: I believe she looks like she's still like early for
- 30:14Speaker 1: he's a Butell South America.
- 30:18Speaker 2: Giselle was older than Tom.
- 30:19Speaker 3: Right, Yeah, just a couple of years, not as much,
- 30:22Speaker 3: I know.
- 30:23Speaker 2: And and then wasn't Bridget moynihan also older than Tom?
- 30:27Speaker 1: I would think so yeah.
- 30:28Speaker 2: That probably think well, if if at that point she
- 30:31Speaker 2: was older, she's older now, she would always be older.
- 30:34Speaker 3: How was Irena Shiit?
- 30:36Speaker 1: Oh? Wow, you're really going down the list here.
- 30:39Speaker 3: He has a type. I love it he.
- 30:41Speaker 1: Does, right, except for well, I wonder, like I think
- 30:44Speaker 1: is Romanian?
- 30:45Speaker 2: I wonder if growing up with three older sisters kind
- 30:48Speaker 2: of has him. He has an affinity towards.
- 30:52Speaker 1: Fire, was getting yelled at by his sister. I just
- 30:55Speaker 1: picture four. Bridget's fifty four. Okay, yeah, I think they're
- 30:59Speaker 1: all a little bit little bit older than him.
- 31:00Speaker 3: I love that for him.
- 31:02Speaker 1: Reid, wasn't that a rumor at one point that.
- 31:05Speaker 4: Off, Well, there was a brief rumor at Jeff Bezo's sweating.
- 31:09Speaker 4: He was like talking to Sydney Sweeney and I was like,
- 31:11Speaker 4: they're just talking.
- 31:11Speaker 3: That's on his type. And then a couple of days later,
- 31:14Speaker 3: so Regard was like, that's more like it, just.
- 31:16Speaker 1: Like when he's getting yelled at by that like that accent.
- 31:18Speaker 3: Like her and Modern Family. Just I love her. I
- 31:23Speaker 3: think she's awesome. So she looks great. Still like killing.
- 31:27Speaker 1: It career in a Modern Family.
- 31:28Speaker 3: What you know? That was such a good show.
- 31:31Speaker 2: The rumor is Stefon Diggs has broken up with Cardi B.
- 31:34Speaker 8: Great.
- 31:34Speaker 2: Yeah, focus on, focused on.
- 31:37Speaker 3: Focus on the season. He's focused on his recovery. I
- 31:39Speaker 3: love it.
- 31:40Speaker 1: No distractions, no, I uh no, Everyone's gonna probably make
- 31:43Speaker 1: fun of me as I like slowly get on the
- 31:45Speaker 1: stiff On Digs bandwagon. But I'm getting on it for sure.
- 31:49Speaker 2: Settled.
- 31:49Speaker 1: I'm excited to watch him play, and just like just
- 31:51Speaker 1: the way he was talking to the camera about learning
- 31:54Speaker 1: and was like, this guy is locked in, Like I
- 31:56Speaker 1: love it, Like he just he gives the vibe still
- 31:58Speaker 1: of a guy with a chip on his shoulder, and
- 32:00Speaker 1: I guess that's you know what annoyed me about him
- 32:02Speaker 1: when he played for other teams and he plays on
- 32:04Speaker 1: the edge and he likes talking.
- 32:06Speaker 2: Welcome to the world of the closest we had was
- 32:11Speaker 2: Randy Moss and Brady in particular, how to spend a
- 32:15Speaker 2: lot of time himself keeping Randy focus because he's such
- 32:20Speaker 2: a pied piper and he could lead other players down
- 32:24Speaker 2: the wrong path, and it was it was a job
- 32:27Speaker 2: keeping him, you know, focused on football and not bitching
- 32:32Speaker 2: about money and that type of thing.
- 32:34Speaker 1: Well, if I'm if I'm Kayshawan Boody or Jalen Polk
- 32:36Speaker 1: or go right down the list, and I see that video,
- 32:38Speaker 1: it's you know, he's that's leadership to me. That's showing
- 32:42Speaker 1: he's locked in. He's on a private plane. Where's he going?
- 32:45Speaker 1: I don't know, but you can tell that he's caged
- 32:49Speaker 1: in this and such a good example for this receiving
- 32:52Speaker 1: room that needs that kind of leadership and needs that
- 32:54Speaker 1: kind of kick in the butt and to be like,
- 32:56Speaker 1: what are you doing when you're flying back from wherever
- 32:58Speaker 1: you're gonna be in your playbook? Then like no, Like,
- 33:00Speaker 1: that's what Brady did as well. Brady set the tone.
- 33:04Speaker 1: I think Bill said it one hundred times and the
- 33:05Speaker 1: other coaches when your best players are your hardest workers,
- 33:08Speaker 1: and set the tone. It's a great recipe for success.
- 33:11Speaker 2: I remember in the locker room some of the rookies
- 33:14Speaker 2: were playing, you know, ping pong or I forget what
- 33:17Speaker 2: they were doing. They weren't in their play and you know,
- 33:20Speaker 2: McGinnis walked by and you know, why aren't you in
- 33:23Speaker 2: your playbook?
- 33:24Speaker 1: Yeah? Yeah, And I think verbel different because he's the
- 33:27Speaker 1: coach now, but I think there's a similar vibe of
- 33:30Speaker 1: that of holding guys accountable mentioned earlier, known for calling
- 33:34Speaker 1: guys out in meetings with questions that put you on
- 33:36Speaker 1: the spot, like Bill did. I think that that that's
- 33:39Speaker 1: just such a huge element. People talk about the Patriot way.
- 33:42Speaker 1: I don't know if that's really what it was. But
- 33:44Speaker 1: McGinnis everybody talks about his door being where Jawan Bentley's
- 33:48Speaker 1: was right by that back door, and anybody who's trying
- 33:50Speaker 1: to leave you got to walk by the enforcer of
- 33:53Speaker 1: the team, and everything was a competition with those guys.
- 33:56Speaker 1: Oh hydration to all of it. You got to get
- 33:59Speaker 1: back to the point where it's that competitive within the
- 34:02Speaker 1: locker room to push each other to be.
- 34:03Speaker 2: Better self policing.
- 34:05Speaker 1: Yes, that's I mean, that's the dream for a coach,
- 34:07Speaker 1: because you don't have to then worry about you know,
- 34:09Speaker 1: I now have to go in and discipline this guy.
- 34:11Speaker 1: It's no the teammates are gonna hold him accountable for
- 34:14Speaker 1: not doing enough.
- 34:15Speaker 2: Andre's right, sin but says I like this combination, Mike Alex.
- 34:21Speaker 2: It's fun, light and varied. I can't wait for the
- 34:24Speaker 2: eighth I can't wait for the eighteenth for two reasons.
- 34:27Speaker 2: One obviously the Forge in Foxboro second episode, and it's
- 34:31Speaker 2: the day they tell me if I pass my Step
- 34:33Speaker 2: one medical residency here in Costa Rica, go for it.
- 34:36Speaker 2: I love hearing you guys in my spare time in
- 34:38Speaker 2: the car everywhere. I'm kind of nervous since only twenty
- 34:41Speaker 2: five percent of the people who did the exam can pass,
- 34:43Speaker 2: and then I have to do Step two. Can't wait
- 34:45Speaker 2: to hear the news that I passed so I can
- 34:47Speaker 2: sit and watch the whole episode. Thanks guys, in a
- 34:50Speaker 2: hug for everyone. Speaking of Forge and Foxborough, forged in Pittsburgh.
- 34:55Speaker 3: God, did you see someone h.
- 35:00Speaker 2: They're getting a lot of heat. I don't think it
- 35:02Speaker 2: has to do with a documentary. I think it's like
- 35:05Speaker 2: some type of uniform release type of thing. But it
- 35:09Speaker 2: is kind of weird and.
- 35:10Speaker 3: It's not great copywriting.
- 35:12Speaker 4: Not to be super picky, but there's not really any alliteration.
- 35:16Speaker 4: I get like the forge steel like metal, sure.
- 35:19Speaker 1: But put together in Pittsburgh, it doesn't have the same
- 35:22Speaker 1: ring to it.
- 35:23Speaker 2: Yeah, that's all right, but that was our fans were
- 35:26Speaker 2: quick to jump on that.
- 35:27Speaker 1: Yes, there's one team that we can still kind of
- 35:29Speaker 1: talk some smack too for real. Right, we'll see how
- 35:33Speaker 1: it goes though. Week three, Boy, that's gonna be that's
- 35:35Speaker 1: gonna be a good game. We need a name for
- 35:39Speaker 1: the thing, Like Evan and Paul were Salt and Peppers,
- 35:41Speaker 1: so maybe we need like a nineties you know, wrap
- 35:43Speaker 1: band like.
- 35:44Speaker 2: The Fam show, Fred Allixon, Mike the Fam.
- 35:49Speaker 3: Okay, okay, Workshop back Pocket's trying to.
- 35:51Speaker 1: Think like TLC, like Salt Peppa TLC, but we're not.
- 35:54Speaker 1: We're not tl r C.
- 35:55Speaker 4: Well, I think an emailer came up with salt and Peppers.
- 35:58Speaker 4: So if you guys think of anything, send in our way.
- 36:02Speaker 2: Let's see.
- 36:02Speaker 1: This is.
- 36:06Speaker 2: Brandon in Maine says I have some would you rather
- 36:10Speaker 2: questions involving our quarterback in regards to comparison with other quarterbacks.
- 36:14Speaker 2: You won't find the top end guys here Mahomes, Burrow,
- 36:17Speaker 2: Allan Jackson, as those aren't realistic. And you won't find
- 36:20Speaker 2: the older guys Roger Stafford Gino Smith because they're short timers.
- 36:24Speaker 2: In short. In a recent discussion with a friend comparing
- 36:27Speaker 2: May to other quarterbacks, who we'd rather have for now
- 36:31Speaker 2: in the next five years? So there is some need
- 36:33Speaker 2: to consider longevity, growth and staying healthy. This exercise helped
- 36:37Speaker 2: us see just how highly or not we thought of Drake.
- 36:41Speaker 2: So for the next five years, who would you rather have?
- 36:45Speaker 2: I broke it into three sections. See if you make
- 36:48Speaker 2: it too complicated. For the first two my friend and
- 36:51Speaker 2: I were in agreement it was always Drake. The final
- 36:53Speaker 2: section is where we found this all right. The first
- 36:56Speaker 2: section easy call Drake or Bonnett.
- 37:01Speaker 1: Drake. Oh, you had to think, well, Bonis had a
- 37:04Speaker 1: good year. I want to give him some respect.
- 37:05Speaker 2: Drake or Kyle Murray. Oh, Drake Drake or Brock Purty, Drake,
- 37:12Speaker 2: Drake or Jared Goff.
- 37:14Speaker 1: The next five years.
- 37:18Speaker 2: Drake, Drake or Baker Mayfield d Drake or Tua Drake.
- 37:25Speaker 2: Now this is they have to think about it. Section
- 37:28Speaker 2: Drake or Trevor Lawrence. Ah, Drake, I'd have to think
- 37:33Speaker 2: about that.
- 37:34Speaker 3: Did you have to think about the Baker one?
- 37:36Speaker 2: No?
- 37:37Speaker 1: No, No, I think a lot of these answers were
- 37:39Speaker 1: basically I think.
- 37:40Speaker 2: We've seen Baker Mayfield's ceiling.
- 37:43Speaker 1: Right, That's what that's that's That's what I'm saying. Not
- 37:45Speaker 1: to say that I think Drake is better than Baker
- 37:47Speaker 1: Mayfield right now, but I think I'm that he might
- 37:49Speaker 1: be bad.
- 37:50Speaker 2: I still and maybe I'm just naive and and sticking
- 37:54Speaker 2: with my original take, but I'm still I still think
- 37:57Speaker 2: that Trevor Lawrence hasn't reached his dealing in the NFL
- 38:02Speaker 2: for what for various reasons. Yeah, Drake or Jalen hurts.
- 38:08Speaker 1: Guys awesome, probably hurts, probably hurts.
- 38:12Speaker 2: I'm going to take Drake here because I think in
- 38:14Speaker 2: the end he's going to be the better passer.
- 38:17Speaker 1: That's yeah, that would be That would be why I
- 38:19Speaker 1: would take Drake if he thought that. But I got
- 38:20Speaker 1: to put some respect on.
- 38:21Speaker 2: Drake or Dak Prescott Drake. Okay, so this is the
- 38:25Speaker 2: harder section, Drake or Jordan Love.
- 38:30Speaker 1: I take Drake. I've seen enough of Jordan Love. I
- 38:32Speaker 1: think he's good, but.
- 38:33Speaker 2: Drake or c J. Stroud Really really okay, Drake, how
- 38:41Speaker 2: come you're not answering anything?
- 38:43Speaker 3: And I'm a libra. I'm really bad at decision making.
- 38:46Speaker 1: She blamed astrology.
- 38:48Speaker 2: Drake or Caleb Williams.
- 38:50Speaker 1: Drake.
- 38:51Speaker 2: Yeah, Drake or Jayden Daniels.
- 38:56Speaker 1: I might reserve answered all after this season, but I
- 38:59Speaker 1: gotta see Rake or Justin Herbert. See that to me
- 39:03Speaker 1: is similar, and I'm gonna go with Drake. Same kind
- 39:05Speaker 1: of like unknown with Drake.
- 39:06Speaker 2: Still maybe we've seen the ceiling for Herbert too. I
- 39:09Speaker 2: don't know, he hasn't want anything.
- 39:11Speaker 4: And you just keep waiting for him to finally like
- 39:13Speaker 4: not that he hasn't broken out, but like really.
- 39:15Speaker 2: Yeah, So Brandon says, in the end, I took Drake
- 39:17Speaker 2: over everyone, but Justin Herbert. My friend preferred James and Herbert.
- 39:21Speaker 1: Yeah, that's interesting. I had a similar thought last night.
- 39:24Speaker 1: I was watching Brock Perdy get interviewed about I was
- 39:27Speaker 1: watching the NFL Live yesterday. They interviewed Petty about losing Debo,
- 39:29Speaker 1: and he was talking about Debo and his impact on
- 39:32Speaker 1: the on the forty nine ers. But I just wondered
- 39:34Speaker 1: how many fans truly believe their quarterback could be the guy,
- 39:39Speaker 1: you know, like, do you really believe that? Like when
- 39:40Speaker 1: I look at brock Perdy, I'm like, I don't believe
- 39:42Speaker 1: he's the guy. I understand San Francisco is in a
- 39:45Speaker 1: position where they kind of have to pay him, like
- 39:47Speaker 1: they couldn't just let him walk right Yea, So it's hard.
- 39:50Speaker 1: You almost feel like you're being held hostage. And I
- 39:53Speaker 1: do the same thing with like some of those quarterbacks,
- 39:55Speaker 1: Like you know, to Tampa fans, they really think Baker
- 39:57Speaker 1: Mayfield's the guy in their heart of hearts with no
- 40:00Speaker 1: no one else around. I don't know, And that's a
- 40:02Speaker 1: lot of how I figured out some of my answers
- 40:05Speaker 1: to that. Yeah, because I say, you know, Burrow, sure,
- 40:08Speaker 1: Cincinnati Fanas's the guy, no question, you know, obviously, mahomes
- 40:13Speaker 1: Lamar Jackson, sure they believe, even though there might be
- 40:15Speaker 1: a little doubting get the good one, Josh Allen. They
- 40:18Speaker 1: believe one hundred percent. But I don't think the list
- 40:20Speaker 1: is very long of fan bases that truly believe like
- 40:23Speaker 1: they got the guy. They so guy, what defines the
- 40:26Speaker 1: guy in your mind? You believe this could be a
- 40:29Speaker 1: super Bowl winning quarterback and consistently have your team deep
- 40:32Speaker 1: into the playoffs. You know, you believe one hundred percent
- 40:35Speaker 1: this is a guy that can take us into the
- 40:36Speaker 1: playoffs every year, and one of these years he's absolutely
- 40:39Speaker 1: gonna get.
- 40:40Speaker 2: So that's why consistency every year because of him.
- 40:45Speaker 1: But the great ones great, right, I mean in Burrow,
- 40:47Speaker 1: they had a down year last year, but I think
- 40:48Speaker 1: everybody still believes that Joe Burrow is, you know, an
- 40:51Speaker 1: elite quarterback in this league with the capability. He's already
- 40:53Speaker 1: gone to one super Bowl, But I mean, I'm not
- 40:56Speaker 1: there yet. On Drake, like, I don't one hundred percent. Yes,
- 40:58Speaker 1: he's definitely the guy, And I think aybody who says
- 41:00Speaker 1: that to you after that season is lying to themselves
- 41:03Speaker 1: or lying to us. And that's not a bad thing.
- 41:05Speaker 1: It's just he was a rookie last year. I don't
- 41:06Speaker 1: know if any of those rookie quarterbacks, maybe Daniels, you
- 41:09Speaker 1: could say, yes, they they probably definitely believe he's the
- 41:12Speaker 1: guy right now. But let's see how he does over
- 41:14Speaker 1: two three years span. Some things change around him. Does
- 41:17Speaker 1: he avoid injury?
- 41:18Speaker 3: Those are questions, What does the team look like around them,
- 41:20Speaker 3: et cetera.
- 41:21Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, gee, those new commanders uniforms too, they brought
- 41:24Speaker 1: back Yeah, p old ones just with the w on
- 41:26Speaker 1: the scene people. I like it too. It's a tradition,
- 41:29Speaker 1: Like I am a guy that I want to look different.
- 41:31Speaker 1: So there's not much, but I just think the classic
- 41:33Speaker 1: like you look on the field and it takes you
- 41:35Speaker 1: a millisecond to know what teams are on the field.
- 41:37Speaker 1: If you have to look on the fielder like what
- 41:39Speaker 1: is this unless it's like one of those weird throwback weeks,
- 41:42Speaker 1: you know, like, I don't want it. I want to
- 41:44Speaker 1: know who the team is right away.
- 41:46Speaker 2: Okay, So I like that one. Let's see Mark and
- 41:50Speaker 2: Cheddar says, after all the Christian and La talk recently,
- 41:54Speaker 2: it made me wonder how Fred and Paul would rank
- 41:56Speaker 2: the following beloved listeners least to most hated. He's got
- 42:00Speaker 2: five Christian in La, Mark and the Bay, Jeff in Vegas,
- 42:04Speaker 2: Matt and Brooklyn, and Eric in Providence.
- 42:07Speaker 1: I don't know two of those.
- 42:08Speaker 2: I think I think least would be Eric in Providence.
- 42:12Speaker 2: Most right now is Christian in La. But at the
- 42:14Speaker 2: time Mark in the Bay was.
- 42:17Speaker 1: Was that just for Eric? Though?
- 42:18Speaker 3: Yeah he was an actual listener.
- 42:20Speaker 2: The form he's just kidding. I don't remember Matt and
- 42:25Speaker 2: Brooklyn that much, but I guess he was annoying. And
- 42:28Speaker 2: Jeff and Vegas. I kind of remember.
- 42:30Speaker 1: Now Christian's embraced the mantle of the show villain and
- 42:33Speaker 1: I think it's good.
- 42:34Speaker 3: Yeah, she must be in vacation. We never heard from
- 42:36Speaker 3: him this week, haven't we.
- 42:37Speaker 1: It's more tropical than that.
- 42:39Speaker 6: Oh.
- 42:39Speaker 2: Another listener from a while ago, what happened to Mikey
- 42:42Speaker 2: Vandalism with his Premium Audio? I forget about him. Yeah,
- 42:48Speaker 2: that was his name, Mikey Vandalism, And he is kind
- 42:52Speaker 2: of saying his slogan was premium Audio.
- 42:56Speaker 1: Really.
- 42:56Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't know what happened to him. He's probably
- 42:59Speaker 2: in jail.
- 43:02Speaker 1: Yeah, it is funny.
- 43:03Speaker 2: It was way back.
- 43:04Speaker 1: I've realized a couple of times, like somebody just disappears
- 43:07Speaker 1: from social media and you think about, whatever happened to
- 43:10Speaker 1: that guy? Yeah? I tweeted him a couple of times.
- 43:13Speaker 1: Or there was some guy who covered the NFL for
- 43:15Speaker 1: a little bit that again was like all it was
- 43:18Speaker 1: in the mix with every major company that just disappeared.
- 43:20Speaker 1: It happened sometimes, what happened? Who's William Benison? I don't know.
- 43:26Speaker 1: Is he still around?
- 43:26Speaker 4: He was like he got what happened to Miguel cap
- 43:32Speaker 4: space mil.
- 43:33Speaker 2: Oh he's still around?
- 43:34Speaker 1: Right? I think I think he left Twitter and you
- 43:37Speaker 1: went to the other one. What is that?
- 43:40Speaker 2: Blusky eight five five Pats five hundred is the hotline?
- 43:47Speaker 2: Christian Chris with a T, I A N in Boston
- 43:51Speaker 2: is on the line.
- 43:51Speaker 1: What's up?
- 43:52Speaker 2: Christian?
- 43:53Speaker 9: Hey guys, you know, it's interesting you talk about where
- 43:57Speaker 9: do all those people go? I can tell you I
- 43:59Speaker 9: think the pandemic and the Trump administration got.
- 44:02Speaker 1: A lot of them off. So yeah, some of them, Yeah, yeah.
- 44:07Speaker 9: I mean you don't see anybody posting like they used
- 44:10Speaker 9: to post on there anymore. It's it looks like with
- 44:13Speaker 9: sports content. But I wanted to talk about the you
- 44:18Speaker 9: guys mentioned about, you know, off the top of the
- 44:21Speaker 9: show about you know, how did it all work when
- 44:23Speaker 9: Brady was feared during the Brady Belichick era? And you know,
- 44:27Speaker 9: obviously the credit a lot of the credit gost to
- 44:29Speaker 9: Bill and thom.
- 44:30Speaker 10: And rightfully so.
- 44:30Speaker 9: But the more I listened to ex players like Matt
- 44:34Speaker 9: Light or rich Olmberg or even Josh McDaniels on various
- 44:37Speaker 9: podcasts and stuff, it really was like the perfect storm
- 44:41Speaker 9: of players and coaches because when they talk about Dante
- 44:46Speaker 9: or they talk about Ivan, like the reverence is off
- 44:49Speaker 9: the charts, you know, and it's it wasn't just about Bill,
- 44:53Speaker 9: Like even when they talk about Billy O'Brien, a great
- 44:57Speaker 9: All of them were great teachers, and they would yell
- 45:00Speaker 9: at you and they would show you out, but they
- 45:03Speaker 9: would get the most out of you because they taught you.
- 45:06Speaker 9: And I'm just you know, I guess I really never
- 45:09Speaker 9: gave a whole lot of weight by that. You know,
- 45:12Speaker 9: I was like, this guy thinks this guy's good, you know,
- 45:15Speaker 9: and need that be the extent of it. But the
- 45:16Speaker 9: coaching is, you know, it wasn't obviously it wasn't just Bill.
- 45:20Speaker 9: A little big part of it was it was the potus.
- 45:23Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, And I think being on Bill's staff kind
- 45:27Speaker 2: of in some ways it makes it tougher because you know,
- 45:31Speaker 2: you have to do as a coach, you have to
- 45:33Speaker 2: do what you're supposed to be doing. But in other
- 45:34Speaker 2: places it makes it easier because you just do what
- 45:38Speaker 2: I'm being told to do, Like Bill setting the tone,
- 45:41Speaker 2: he's he's the CEO, and as long as I follow
- 45:45Speaker 2: the way he wants things done. I've got a job.
- 45:49Speaker 1: Yeah, that's exactly what what Dante Scarnekia said to me.
- 45:51Speaker 1: He said, Bill Parcells and Bill Belichick were the two
- 45:53Speaker 1: easiest coaches I ever worked for, because you knew exactly
- 45:56Speaker 1: what they expected of you every single day, and so
- 45:59Speaker 1: it's a good job for them establishing the system.
- 46:01Speaker 2: Yep, I mean, thanks Christian. I mean some of the
- 46:03Speaker 2: criticism of Bill was like he didn't think passed a
- 46:07Speaker 2: couple of days down the road and so coaches would
- 46:10Speaker 2: know when am I going to have time off? But
- 46:13Speaker 2: on the other hand, that was sort of the way
- 46:16Speaker 2: that Bill kept things in line. Let's not think about
- 46:19Speaker 2: things until we have to think about them. Let's focus
- 46:21Speaker 2: on today and tomorrow and get those days right, and
- 46:24Speaker 2: then we'll think about, you know, when we're leaving for
- 46:28Speaker 2: the joint practice and all that stuff. And that would
- 46:31Speaker 2: drive some people crazy, but it kept things orderly, kept
- 46:35Speaker 2: things in line, and.
- 46:36Speaker 1: Also, you know, helped the team overcome when they lose
- 46:40Speaker 1: a game or they'd win a game, like it was
- 46:42Speaker 1: always flushed down the toilet and you would just focus
- 46:45Speaker 1: on today and this week's opponent. And it's one of
- 46:47Speaker 1: the things I admire most about Bill Belichi's coaching philosophy.
- 46:50Speaker 1: Coaches around the league. I think we'll tell you, like
- 46:53Speaker 1: one day at a time, we're just but he really
- 46:55Speaker 1: lived it. That was you know, as you said, it
- 46:57Speaker 1: was baked within the system, within their scheduling, and everything
- 47:01Speaker 1: was focused on not letting guys get ahead of themselves,
- 47:04Speaker 1: to focus on the moment and to get better. And
- 47:06Speaker 1: it was key part of his coaching philosophy.
- 47:08Speaker 2: Yep, Nate's in Connecticut. Nate, you're becoming a regular caller.
- 47:13Speaker 2: What's up?
- 47:13Speaker 1: What up?
- 47:15Speaker 3: Not much?
- 47:16Speaker 8: How you guys doing?
- 47:16Speaker 2: Okay, So I.
- 47:19Speaker 8: Know you guys already mentioned this today, but it's about
- 47:22Speaker 8: Christian Dalas. So clearly he put the league on notice
- 47:26Speaker 8: this year, locking up like people like Jamar Chase and
- 47:30Speaker 8: DK Cast except for that one place.
- 47:34Speaker 9: But yeah, you guys know what I'm talking about.
- 47:37Speaker 1: The safety blue of the covers. It's not it's fall Yeah.
- 47:39Speaker 8: Well yeah, but anyways, he was ranked, you guys said,
- 47:44Speaker 8: eighty four on that top one hundred list.
- 47:47Speaker 11: Do you guys think this ranking is just.
- 47:50Speaker 9: Right too low or too high for him personally?
- 47:53Speaker 8: I think it might be a little too low. If
- 47:56Speaker 8: I had to put him somewhere. I'd probably put him
- 47:58Speaker 8: anywhere from sixty.
- 47:59Speaker 2: To well without okay, thanks Nate, without seeing the entire list.
- 48:05Speaker 2: It's hard to know that.
- 48:07Speaker 1: But I think this is more about politics, and this
- 48:10Speaker 1: is Gonzalez's second really his first full year.
- 48:12Speaker 2: So you start by saying, what's his number for just cornerbacks?
- 48:17Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 48:18Speaker 2: Yeah, you know, is he like the fourth best cornerback?
- 48:20Speaker 1: I mean, he's I didn't say he's definitely in the
- 48:22Speaker 1: top ten, you know, so yeah.
- 48:23Speaker 2: Oh, definitely in the top ten. So you start there,
- 48:26Speaker 2: where is he as a cornerback? What's his number there?
- 48:30Speaker 2: And then you expand out.
- 48:32Speaker 1: I think it's important to point out to the voting
- 48:34Speaker 1: the way the voting works with this. It is like
- 48:35Speaker 1: each player writes twenty players down. So you know, some
- 48:38Speaker 1: guys were putting Christian Gonzalez in their top ti.
- 48:40Speaker 2: Are you're allowed to put your own teammates?
- 48:41Speaker 1: And think so I think, oh, yeah, so you know
- 48:44Speaker 1: that it's a little bit restrictive in that regard. But
- 48:46Speaker 1: I look at it like the Pro Bowl, where you're
- 48:49Speaker 1: just building a name for yourself and then you know
- 48:51Speaker 1: you'll probably get more Pro Bowls even when you're kind
- 48:53Speaker 1: of pastor Prime because you have the name recognition. So
- 48:56Speaker 1: I think Gonzalez is building up. I think it's about
- 48:59Speaker 1: right for where he is in his career. He put
- 49:00Speaker 1: one really good season together and he has opportunity. I
- 49:03Speaker 1: think he'd move up next year for sure.
- 49:04Speaker 8: Yep.
- 49:06Speaker 2: Let's see John in South Carolina says I have never
- 49:09Speaker 2: agreed with Deuce more. He says, you guys are the
- 49:12Speaker 2: only sports media Boston sports media. I enjoy those shows
- 49:16Speaker 2: Duce was talking about are punching down and they bully
- 49:19Speaker 2: any thought that doesn't agree with them. Every time I try,
- 49:22Speaker 2: I do not make it through a show. I also
- 49:24Speaker 2: want to say the guy from La isn't in the
- 49:27Speaker 2: PFWPU class of bad guy. I think it was Mark
- 49:30Speaker 2: in the Bay who everyone hated, or Matt from Brooklyn
- 49:33Speaker 2: who had Eric aggravated constantly NBL Nick Baby Love who
- 49:39Speaker 2: had people aggravated with him while he was going through
- 49:42Speaker 2: his treatments. I can't remember his name, so I would
- 49:45Speaker 2: refer to him as a guy in La. He tries
- 49:48Speaker 2: too hard. When he said he was going to come
- 49:50Speaker 2: at people, nobody was worried. Okay, here is Nick baby Loved?
- 49:55Speaker 1: Well. I don't need a nickname, right, that Mark and
- 49:59Speaker 1: the big guy. He hasn't called a lot, and he
- 50:01Speaker 1: called more before I got here, but there are a
- 50:02Speaker 1: couple of times he called there and it was I
- 50:05Speaker 1: was like he was doing a bit like right directed
- 50:07Speaker 1: at Eric, like he called in specifically because he wrote
- 50:10Speaker 1: like a paragraph just ripping Erscalvino and then he hang up.
- 50:14Speaker 1: Who is this guy? But he's faded, I guess because
- 50:17Speaker 1: maybe Eric left and he doesn't have any more enjoyment.
- 50:19Speaker 2: There was another guy, oh, I forget his name, that
- 50:24Speaker 2: really went at Eric to the point where I had
- 50:26Speaker 2: to like stop reading.
- 50:28Speaker 1: It's usually he kind of encouraged that top somebody, not
- 50:32Speaker 1: Vinie Vegas.
- 50:33Speaker 12: I want to say it was a Jeff in Vegas.
- 50:35Speaker 2: No, but that was another guy. But there was another guy.
- 50:39Speaker 2: I think he was from Florida, maybe Jacksonville. I don't
- 50:42Speaker 2: know if it was. It wasn't Kakar, but he he
- 50:47Speaker 2: specifically went at Eric. Oh yeah, yeah.
- 50:50Speaker 1: What was it about Eric that just detracted people to
- 50:53Speaker 1: go out?
- 50:53Speaker 2: Because he had an air of pumposity to him, you know,
- 50:58Speaker 2: like a lot of people just wanted to stick a
- 51:00Speaker 2: pin in that balloon.
- 51:01Speaker 1: Plus I think you knew you were going to get
- 51:03Speaker 1: a reaction from him, which I think you did. You
- 51:05Speaker 1: would do that too. We're like, I'm gonna get it
- 51:07Speaker 1: going right here, I see an open door.
- 51:09Speaker 3: Well, it's like an antagonizer's dream.
- 51:11Speaker 1: It was just so easy. Give you the eyebrows, and
- 51:13Speaker 1: then you say something in near it just starts taing.
- 51:17Speaker 2: THEO rights in. The Steelers lived up to their name
- 51:20Speaker 2: as they stole Forge in Foxborough and changed it to
- 51:23Speaker 2: Forge in Pittsburgh. If I feel like this has to
- 51:26Speaker 2: put them over the Bengals in Fred's most hated teams, thoughts, Nah,
- 51:32Speaker 2: flat imitation is the sincerest form of flattering.
- 51:37Speaker 1: Steel mills.
- 51:37Speaker 2: They do some fort Yeah, I don't really care.
- 51:40Speaker 4: It's understandable, but it's like I wonder if they even
- 51:43Speaker 4: realized they were doing it.
- 51:44Speaker 1: They may not have better because Patriots putting on great
- 51:47Speaker 1: content that they're not aware of, and that shame on them.
- 51:49Speaker 3: You send them a season desist.
- 51:51Speaker 2: Yeah, no, it's it's fine. Yeah, we were coming on
- 51:57Speaker 2: one next week, July eighteenth.
- 51:59Speaker 1: Let's go.
- 52:00Speaker 2: We were first. Everybody knows we were first. That's all.
- 52:02Speaker 2: That's all we need to you know. Uh, back to
- 52:05Speaker 2: the phone. Eldred's on the phone. What's up Eldred.
- 52:10Speaker 1: There it is a good one.
- 52:12Speaker 2: Hey, you're in North Carolina. Did you happen to drive
- 52:14Speaker 2: past the Drake may passing camp.
- 52:17Speaker 1: He just trashed the receivers while he was driving by.
- 52:21Speaker 3: Yeah, imagine the background is just Eldrid pulls over like.
- 52:25Speaker 1: On the side of the road. Hey, y'all, you got
- 52:27Speaker 1: no receivers, yelling bumps.
- 52:28Speaker 2: Are Hey guys, I'm hauling gatorade.
- 52:33Speaker 1: You need that had we had DK out there, don't you?
- 52:37Speaker 1: I know? All right, I'm out.
- 52:40Speaker 13: Exactly what I got exactly right. Hey, but three Yeah,
- 52:48Speaker 13: did you read that thing about the quarterback you take
- 52:51Speaker 13: Drake Mayo over?
- 52:54Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 52:54Speaker 2: Yeah, I read that.
- 52:55Speaker 13: Yeah, yeah, you read it right. Yeah. Well yesterday the
- 53:01Speaker 13: same thing and between two guys who's hosting it and
- 53:07Speaker 13: do but they also, like y'all, they brought it up.
- 53:12Speaker 13: What coaches, where did you rank Mike Graveley at starting
- 53:18Speaker 13: this year?
- 53:20Speaker 2: Yeah? Right now, I'd put him right in the middle, probably,
- 53:23Speaker 2: you know, because you know, he's still got a lot
- 53:26Speaker 2: to prove. He had a few good years with Tennessee
- 53:29Speaker 2: and then a few down years. A couple you know,
- 53:31Speaker 2: his last two weren't that good. So I would say
- 53:34Speaker 2: I'd put him right in the middle of the pack
- 53:37Speaker 2: and we'll see what happens.
- 53:39Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, that's kind of what you have to say.
- 53:41Speaker 13: But yeah, they had him, they had him ranked, They
- 53:43Speaker 13: ranked him eight eighty.
- 53:45Speaker 1: Okay, I agree, eight perfect.
- 53:47Speaker 2: Yeah, listen, I I hope by the end of the
- 53:51Speaker 2: season we're saying that or higher. But you know, you
- 53:54Speaker 2: just have to be realistic.
- 53:55Speaker 6: He does.
- 53:56Speaker 2: He doesn't have the track record a lot of other
- 53:58Speaker 2: coaches have.
- 53:59Speaker 1: I'll just say this, there's no other coach right now.
- 54:01Speaker 1: I'd rather have the link I know that where that's
- 54:04Speaker 1: operating the same thing with Drake with a little bit
- 54:05Speaker 1: of like unknown and pining the sky feelings towards him,
- 54:08Speaker 1: but watching the way that he captures this team's attention
- 54:11Speaker 1: on that practice field, he looks like a really good
- 54:13Speaker 1: coach to me, and giving this history with this team there,
- 54:16Speaker 1: there's nobody else I'd rather have right now.
- 54:17Speaker 2: Yeah. I mean, I know that's a different way of
- 54:19Speaker 2: looking at it, and I agree with that.
- 54:21Speaker 13: Yeah, yep, Mike uh Rape, people want me over. I
- 54:26Speaker 13: wanted Ben Johnson. Yeah, like you said, I have to
- 54:29Speaker 13: listen to him, watch him go through the camp and
- 54:30Speaker 13: everything and how playoffs going okay of hyped up too.
- 54:34Speaker 13: I'm saying eight wins. I'm open eight or nine? Did
- 54:37Speaker 13: they go more? I put my I put my head
- 54:40Speaker 13: back on the store back top and junkie in like
- 54:41Speaker 13: I used to five years.
- 54:44Speaker 2: Okay, all right, thank you. I mean, you know, we
- 54:48Speaker 2: have to look at the list. You know, maybe I'm
- 54:50Speaker 2: underrating him, but you know mc veay, Andy Reid, uh.
- 54:57Speaker 1: Shanahan, see you know, yeah, I mean I think I think, yeah,
- 55:01Speaker 1: I think.
- 55:01Speaker 2: So those are three and you know, might be Rabele
- 55:07Speaker 2: might be a better coach than Shanahan, but you got
- 55:11Speaker 2: you have to prove it, you know, like we might
- 55:13Speaker 2: think and believe he's better, but I'm just thinking about
- 55:16Speaker 2: like the evidence, the actual empirical evidence out there.
- 55:21Speaker 1: Who else, well do you think dank Dan Campbell? I mean,
- 55:26Speaker 1: have had a lot of like Dan Campbell just want
- 55:29Speaker 1: a super right.
- 55:30Speaker 4: I mean, but even last season at the beginning of
- 55:33Speaker 4: the season, people were during the.
- 55:35Speaker 2: Season, oh yeah, he was on the hot season in
- 55:38Speaker 2: terms of the fans. Yeah. O'Connell up in Minnesota one. Yeah,
- 55:44Speaker 2: you know who else?
- 55:47Speaker 1: O'Connor is great one because it's it's just an example
- 55:49Speaker 1: of they had a great season last year. But there's
- 55:51Speaker 1: such belief in Minnesota right now that no matter what happens,
- 55:54Speaker 1: they experienced already one quarterback change over and he showed
- 55:57Speaker 1: he can do it with a new guy. So you
- 55:59Speaker 1: just feel really positive. Like they didn't go to the
- 56:01Speaker 1: NFC Championship or anything, and it was, you know, a
- 56:03Speaker 1: disappointing playoff loss for them, but I think there's such
- 56:06Speaker 1: belief in him talking earlier about like what guys really
- 56:09Speaker 1: believe in their quarterbacks. I think he's one coach if
- 56:11Speaker 1: I was a Minnesota Vikings fan that I'd say, I
- 56:12Speaker 1: think we got a really special coach that will make
- 56:15Speaker 1: it work as the inevitable ups and downs of the
- 56:17Speaker 1: NFL season.
- 56:17Speaker 2: You know, Sean Payton has a long track record, so
- 56:21Speaker 2: just based on his experience in the NFL, I think
- 56:24Speaker 2: you'd have to rank him higher at this point than
- 56:27Speaker 2: very able. But that could you know, that could change,
- 56:30Speaker 2: and we all hope it will.
- 56:31Speaker 1: I think we're right now and we were in this
- 56:33Speaker 1: stage last year too. You're in that gray area where
- 56:36Speaker 1: you can still kind of imagine what the possibilities are
- 56:40Speaker 1: with Drake May and Mike Rabel. Whereas as the season
- 56:43Speaker 1: start going you start getting reality hits you and then
- 56:46Speaker 1: you realize you know what it is actually going to be.
- 56:48Speaker 1: But at this point, when people ask us questions like this,
- 56:51Speaker 1: like you could still say, like, I think Drake may
- 56:53Speaker 1: could be a top five quarterback. I think Mike Rabel
- 56:55Speaker 1: can be top five point and very well they might be,
- 56:57Speaker 1: but we have to start. I'm not going to be
- 57:00Speaker 1: in fantasy lean forever. We were in fantasy land for
- 57:02Speaker 1: like three weeks last year, once the regular season started
- 57:04Speaker 1: and the reality started to hit home of what the
- 57:06Speaker 1: situation really was. But they are, you know, they're a
- 57:08Speaker 1: handful of teams. When you start to turn around Houston
- 57:10Speaker 1: last year they felt great, you know, and they still
- 57:13Speaker 1: feel great, but they had some reality kind of sinking
- 57:15Speaker 1: last year where they were struggled to protect c. J. Stroud.
- 57:18Speaker 1: So it's it's kind of a fun place to be
- 57:20Speaker 1: in this fantasy land place where you can just say,
- 57:22Speaker 1: like I think Drake could be great, I think Verbe
- 57:23Speaker 1: could be great. You know, we'll see once the reality
- 57:25Speaker 1: comes of how true that is.
- 57:27Speaker 2: Pete and Seattle writes in Pete Carroll, Pete maybe in Vegas.
- 57:32Speaker 2: He moved to Vegas?
- 57:33Speaker 3: Of course?
- 57:35Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, he says, I really appreciate your point about
- 57:38Speaker 2: the significant impact of coaching, especially in football. We saw
- 57:42Speaker 2: this clearly with Mac Jones in his second year. If
- 57:46Speaker 2: coaching is so crucial for quarterback in year two, it's
- 57:48Speaker 2: arguably even more vital for rookies transitioning from college to
- 57:52Speaker 2: the NFL, a notoriously difficult jump for all positions. This
- 57:55Speaker 2: brings me to the twenty four Patriots draft class. While
- 57:59Speaker 2: players like Polk and Baker have faced criticism, I wonder
- 58:03Speaker 2: if they were set up for failure. As Andrew Callahan
- 58:05Speaker 2: and Karen Garigian highlighted earlier this year, a large part
- 58:09Speaker 2: of last year's coaching staff was woefully inexperienced. While players
- 58:13Speaker 2: are accountable for their own performance, it's fair to question
- 58:15Speaker 2: the support they received well. According to Elliott Wolfe, he
- 58:22Speaker 2: kind of agrees with that. That was what he said
- 58:24Speaker 2: after the season. If we extend grace to Mac Jones
- 58:27Speaker 2: for his struggles under Matt Patrician Joe Judge in his
- 58:30Speaker 2: second year, shouldn't we consider that these rookies lack fundamental
- 58:34Speaker 2: coaching support when they needed it most. It's hardly surprising
- 58:38Speaker 2: that few of last year's draft picks blossom given the
- 58:41Speaker 2: inexperience of the coaching staff. So what are your thoughts
- 58:43Speaker 2: on this?
- 58:44Speaker 1: Yeah? True, and that's part of the reason made the
- 58:48Speaker 1: point about Jalen Polk last show we did, where you know,
- 58:51Speaker 1: if he had a really productive camp and then had
- 58:55Speaker 1: some struggles and they were unable to get him out
- 58:57Speaker 1: of those struggles, maybe some of that was self inflicted him.
- 59:00Speaker 1: I don't want to put it all on the coaching staff,
- 59:02Speaker 1: like he's just a superstar war to happen, but I
- 59:05Speaker 1: think that's a very very valid point.
- 59:07Speaker 2: Well, again, Elliott Wolfe said after this season, and I'm paraphrasing,
- 59:11Speaker 2: but I was hoping that a lot of these players
- 59:13Speaker 2: would have gotten more support. Is that what he said?
- 59:16Speaker 1: Development?
- 59:17Speaker 2: Maybe something something? Yeah, So that means coaching.
- 59:20Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean that's I mean when he said that,
- 59:22Speaker 1: I'm like, of course, of course you did. Like even
- 59:24Speaker 1: when you look at again the summer, like you saw
- 59:27Speaker 1: Jalen Pole as the example being productive, and then you
- 59:31Speaker 1: got to the record season and it wasn't happening.
- 59:33Speaker 4: And that's kind of the difference of like the fantasy
- 59:35Speaker 4: land that we're living in right now that you were
- 59:36Speaker 4: just talking about. That's why it's different this year, Like, yes,
- 59:39Speaker 4: we're still living in a little bit of that fantasy,
- 59:42Speaker 4: but there's so much more experience ye behind the coaching staff.
- 59:45Speaker 1: Yeah, that's why you believe that. I believe, you know,
- 59:49Speaker 1: I believe in in Vrabel right now. I think the
- 59:50Speaker 1: players believe in what he's selling now. I had my
- 59:53Speaker 1: Sharon Men's club talk the other day. I was like,
- 59:55Speaker 1: it's very well real. Is this for real? Like the
- 59:57Speaker 1: excitement stuff? And I said, look, I I'll just tell
- 59:59Speaker 1: you my limited experience. I mean, I've been here six
- 1:00:02Speaker 1: years now watching training camp. I just I've never seen
- 1:00:05Speaker 1: a coach out there with that kind of energy and
- 1:00:07Speaker 1: jumping from drill to drill and getting right in there.
- 1:00:09Speaker 1: Bill certainly, I gotta give credit to Bill. He could
- 1:00:11Speaker 1: talk to any position group and he would float. But
- 1:00:13Speaker 1: the energy that Rabel does it with, You're just where
- 1:00:15Speaker 1: is he? He's over there, he's in the middle of
- 1:00:17Speaker 1: a drill, he's got a pinny on, he's you know,
- 1:00:19Speaker 1: those things to me as a player, which just really
- 1:00:22Speaker 1: make you want to play hard for him. Definitely saw
- 1:00:24Speaker 1: an interview I think it was Mike and when you no, sorry,
- 1:00:28Speaker 1: it was Layden Robinson. Laden Robinson did an interview yesterday.
- 1:00:31Speaker 1: I just caught some highlights of it, but similar things
- 1:00:34Speaker 1: saying about Mike Rabel, like a guy you could just
- 1:00:36Speaker 1: tell how into it he is, how he's able to
- 1:00:39Speaker 1: jump from everything, you know, from drill to drill, and
- 1:00:42Speaker 1: it's infectious, I think. And that's that's what I'm expecting.
- 1:00:44Speaker 1: That this team is going to be built in his
- 1:00:46Speaker 1: mold of how he wants it, and his fingerprint is
- 1:00:49Speaker 1: going to be on all this and that to me
- 1:00:50Speaker 1: is what's super exciting, just to see a physical, aggressive
- 1:00:54Speaker 1: team when you're gonna come in here. My hope, and
- 1:00:57Speaker 1: again we're in fantasy land right now, but my hope
- 1:00:59Speaker 1: is that you in here to try to beat this team.
- 1:01:01Speaker 1: It's going to take a lot. You know, you're gonna
- 1:01:02Speaker 1: have to come with a good game because they're going
- 1:01:04Speaker 1: to play hard and aggressive, and they have more talent
- 1:01:06Speaker 1: now and that's probably you know, Paul was sitting here
- 1:01:08Speaker 1: and say that's the bottom line. You got more talent,
- 1:01:10Speaker 1: you're gonna be better. So hopefully it's convergence. As the
- 1:01:13Speaker 1: previous guy said, like, you need a little of everything,
- 1:01:15Speaker 1: and I think they've got the ingredients.
- 1:01:17Speaker 2: Todd's in North Carolina on the hot line. What's up, Todd, Hey, guys,
- 1:01:21Speaker 2: I've been enjoying the show, and I think he's been
- 1:01:23Speaker 2: talking about also the topics.
- 1:01:24Speaker 10: But it's got something that's.
- 1:01:26Speaker 12: Been I've been curious about for a while. How much
- 1:01:29Speaker 12: did the two losses to the Giants and the Super
- 1:01:31Speaker 12: Bowl really cemented in bill head that it's just it's
- 1:01:35Speaker 12: defense first, and and you seem to show after that
- 1:01:39Speaker 12: that he didn't give the offense the love that it
- 1:01:43Speaker 12: se that it needed. I don't know what you guys think,
- 1:01:45Speaker 12: and I want to know.
- 1:01:45Speaker 2: You're a well, if he thought that, then he's incorrect
- 1:01:49Speaker 2: because could have used more than fourteen points in that
- 1:01:53Speaker 2: uh seven Super Bowl, right right right? That was all
- 1:01:56Speaker 2: about the offensive line not protecting Brady and Brady having
- 1:02:00Speaker 2: a bad foot. We forget about that. But yeah, I
- 1:02:04Speaker 2: mean if we had scored more than fourteen points to
- 1:02:07Speaker 2: win that game, yeah, I.
- 1:02:08Speaker 1: Mean, what more can you do? It's just really a
- 1:02:10Speaker 1: matter about peaking at the right time. But I think
- 1:02:12Speaker 1: this hints at another point when're talking about like the
- 1:02:14Speaker 1: credit thing, it's like, well, it's Brady and Belichick and
- 1:02:16Speaker 1: then yeah, there's like three percent for I mean, like
- 1:02:18Speaker 1: how many of those everyone, like, I mean, I have
- 1:02:20Speaker 1: to tell every one of those Super Bowls the defense
- 1:02:22Speaker 1: had to make a play, super Bowl forty nine being
- 1:02:25Speaker 1: the most obvious example, where I mean they Marshall Lynch
- 1:02:28Speaker 1: just runs the ball and Brady loves another super Bowl.
- 1:02:30Speaker 1: You know, credit Brady to like, but it was a
- 1:02:33Speaker 1: convergence of everything at the right time. You got, you know,
- 1:02:35Speaker 1: forst Super Bowl ty Law gets a pick six, you know,
- 1:02:38Speaker 1: and then give Brady credit for Super Bowl fifty two
- 1:02:41Speaker 1: where the defense cannot stop a nosebleed, but Brady goes
- 1:02:44Speaker 1: berserker mode and makes it close right down to the end.
- 1:02:46Speaker 1: So it just all fed into each other, and the
- 1:02:48Speaker 1: defense especially, I feel like they just everybody wants to
- 1:02:50Speaker 1: forget about some of the necessary stops that they had
- 1:02:53Speaker 1: and show Super Bowls and takeaways and you know, big
- 1:02:56Speaker 1: plays Mike Rabel force and fumbles and all that stuff.
- 1:02:59Speaker 2: I would say one of the underrated things. You know,
- 1:03:02Speaker 2: you always think about your team, but I think when
- 1:03:05Speaker 2: you play smart football, you know the kind of football
- 1:03:08Speaker 2: that Brad Vrabel's talking about taking, you know, advantage of
- 1:03:12Speaker 2: bad football when you're a smart football team and the
- 1:03:15Speaker 2: other team knows you're probably not going to make that
- 1:03:18Speaker 2: big mistake. It puts pressure on them. And I think
- 1:03:21Speaker 2: the Patriots and Belichick put pressure on other teams and
- 1:03:25Speaker 2: force them into mistakes in those big games, and I
- 1:03:30Speaker 2: think that helps you win. So you know, it's playing
- 1:03:34Speaker 2: good sound football, whether it's offense or defense. Puts pressure
- 1:03:39Speaker 2: on the other team. And I think that was a
- 1:03:42Speaker 2: big part of winning a lot of those games too.
- 1:03:45Speaker 1: Which is where other team making mistakes, which I hope
- 1:03:48Speaker 1: that the Patriots and Drake may can get to that
- 1:03:50Speaker 1: point now where I mean again one of my key
- 1:03:52Speaker 1: things for the season is Drake Killer. That's the question.
- 1:03:55Speaker 1: Can you execute a couple and a game drives where
- 1:03:59Speaker 1: games on the line, and then you start to put
- 1:04:01Speaker 1: that concern in other team's heads of like, look, we
- 1:04:05Speaker 1: got the Patriots on the ropes right now, but they
- 1:04:06Speaker 1: got a guy over there who is going to make
- 1:04:08Speaker 1: a push at the end. And there are a handful
- 1:04:10Speaker 1: of teams burrow in Kansas City and you know, probably
- 1:04:12Speaker 1: afhilly at this point that you know, teams are we
- 1:04:15Speaker 1: got to put this game away. We can't just let it.
- 1:04:17Speaker 2: Think about think about your favorite game twenty eight to
- 1:04:19Speaker 2: three The Falcons should have won that game, but knowing
- 1:04:26Speaker 2: that it was Brady on the other side of the
- 1:04:28Speaker 2: field and belichicked, I think forced them into making really
- 1:04:31Speaker 2: bad decisions when they had the ball, Like you didn't
- 1:04:34Speaker 2: have to throw the ball right right, you know, you
- 1:04:36Speaker 2: could have run the ball and won that game, and
- 1:04:38Speaker 2: they felt, no, we can't, we can't take the foot
- 1:04:42Speaker 2: off the gas, and forced them into mistakes.
- 1:04:47Speaker 1: I mean, another great example of you know, defense making
- 1:04:49Speaker 1: that play. I mean, there's like a series of plays
- 1:04:52Speaker 1: after a huge catch by Julio Jones on the sideline,
- 1:04:54Speaker 1: they kick the field goal. It's over right, you know,
- 1:04:57Speaker 1: sack holding penalty. I mean, like you know those things
- 1:05:00Speaker 1: were that game was hanging by a thread. Yeah, he
- 1:05:03Speaker 1: and Game of Inches and so it's yeah, just a
- 1:05:06Speaker 1: great example, every single one of those games. It took
- 1:05:08Speaker 1: a lot of different people to feed in to be
- 1:05:09Speaker 1: a dynasty.
- 1:05:11Speaker 2: Yep, all right, foods here at least mine is. So

- 1:07:03Speaker 5: Joined by eight time Entertainer of the Year Kenny Chesney
- 1:07:06Speaker 5: at your home away from home here at Gellette Stadium
- 1:07:08Speaker 5: is really your home away from home?
- 1:07:09Speaker 2: Yes, it is for our Patriots.
- 1:07:10Speaker 5: Pregame show presented by Duncan, fueled by Duncan. Thanks for
- 1:07:13Speaker 5: joining us, Kenny.
- 1:07:14Speaker 2: Man, Thanks for having me.
- 1:07:15Speaker 15: It's an honor to be here.
- 1:07:17Speaker 5: Well, the end of the tour means Foxborough and Jellette Stadium.
- 1:07:21Speaker 5: How are the fans of New England so fortunate enough
- 1:07:23Speaker 5: to get the tour finale for all these years?
- 1:07:26Speaker 15: Well, there was a couple of years when we first
- 1:07:28Speaker 15: started playing here that it wasn't the end of the tour.
- 1:07:31Speaker 15: There was like three years I think where we played
- 1:07:34Speaker 15: earlier on in July, but there was one summer and
- 1:07:38Speaker 15: if you ask anybody that plays sports. They'll tell you
- 1:07:41Speaker 15: they're a little superstitious, you know, if they have a
- 1:07:44Speaker 15: great game, you know, they do the same routine or whatever.
- 1:07:47Speaker 15: So that particular year, we opened at Raymond James Stadium
- 1:07:51Speaker 15: in Tampa and we closed in Foxboro, and it was
- 1:07:53Speaker 15: the most magical tour of my life, right And I
- 1:07:57Speaker 15: told everybody, I said, we're doing it just like that
- 1:08:01Speaker 15: every year, and we have ever since. We've opened in
- 1:08:05Speaker 15: Tampa and closed in Foxborough now in the middle changes.
- 1:08:08Speaker 15: But we love it that way, you know, and it
- 1:08:11Speaker 15: has become just a huge part of our life or
- 1:08:15Speaker 15: part of my touring family's life. And we know that
- 1:08:18Speaker 15: when we get to Foxborough that we've had a long,
- 1:08:20Speaker 15: wonderful summer.
- 1:08:21Speaker 2: But it's almost like we hit a different gear when
- 1:08:24Speaker 2: we get here.
- 1:08:25Speaker 15: You know. It's it's it's it's beautiful, and we don't
- 1:08:28Speaker 15: take it for granted. And it's just a huge celebration
- 1:08:31Speaker 15: for me and my Rowed family. And I've got a
- 1:08:33Speaker 15: lot of friends obviously in New England, and over the
- 1:08:36Speaker 15: years have become really good friends with, you know a
- 1:08:38Speaker 15: lot of people in the Patriots organization and become family
- 1:08:41Speaker 15: with Robert and Jonathan.
- 1:08:42Speaker 5: And I think you can see that as a fan,
- 1:08:44Speaker 5: you know, with somebody who was here last night and
- 1:08:46Speaker 5: in the pit, and at the end, the appreciation that
- 1:08:49Speaker 5: your family has, there's there's like a little bit of relief,
- 1:08:53Speaker 5: like there's a little light at the.
- 1:08:54Speaker 2: End of the tunnel. Because it's a grueling tour, it is.
- 1:08:57Speaker 5: But it's a happiness and the joy that everyone seemed
- 1:08:59Speaker 5: to have towards the end.
- 1:09:00Speaker 2: It really in the audience you can feel that.
- 1:09:03Speaker 15: Well, it's I say it a lot. It's a lot
- 1:09:05Speaker 15: like the last day of school, you know what I mean.
- 1:09:07Speaker 15: Like you look forward to it and you're tired, and
- 1:09:09Speaker 15: you want it. You want it in one sense, you
- 1:09:11Speaker 15: want it to be over, but then again you don't
- 1:09:13Speaker 15: want to let it go.
- 1:09:15Speaker 2: And that's where we are.
- 1:09:16Speaker 15: We're in this bitter sweet place, you know, walking through
- 1:09:19Speaker 15: the hallways here at Gillette and getting on the buses.
- 1:09:21Speaker 15: And look, we've been in rehearsals since February, you know,
- 1:09:25Speaker 15: and been together since then. And uh, we've been on
- 1:09:28Speaker 15: the road. We started in Tampa in the middle of April,
- 1:09:31Speaker 15: and so here we are, you know, and and it's
- 1:09:34Speaker 15: it's like anything else. It's it's you look at pictures
- 1:09:38Speaker 15: from then it seems like forever ago, but in your
- 1:09:41Speaker 15: soul it just seems like yesterday. And so it's it's bittersweet,
- 1:09:45Speaker 15: you know, to let it go, but to be here
- 1:09:47Speaker 15: and to be back. Like you said in the beginning,
- 1:09:49Speaker 15: you know, Foxborough has become in a lot of ways
- 1:09:52Speaker 15: my second home, and and the Craft my second family
- 1:09:56Speaker 15: in a way. So you know, it's just just just
- 1:09:59Speaker 15: real special. It always is.
- 1:10:01Speaker 5: Let's go back maybe fifteen years ago when No New
- 1:10:05Speaker 5: England wasn't new to you. You were playing Sheds I'm
- 1:10:07Speaker 5: old enough to remember, replaced by the name of Great Woods.
- 1:10:10Speaker 5: Who knows what it's called this week or anything like that.
- 1:10:13Speaker 5: What was the impetus or why did you think, Kenny,
- 1:10:15Speaker 5: or how did the genesis come about? You know what,
- 1:10:18Speaker 5: let's tackle stadium shows this is going to be a
- 1:10:20Speaker 5: different barrier to break and I think we can break
- 1:10:22Speaker 5: through and do that.
- 1:10:23Speaker 15: Yeah, especially in this area. We played the Amphitheater outside
- 1:10:28Speaker 15: of town in Mansfield and we played that a couple
- 1:10:32Speaker 15: of years and you could just feel this energy bulling underneath,
- 1:10:39Speaker 15: you know, we could just tell that there was something
- 1:10:42Speaker 15: special happening in New England and everywhere we played No.
- 1:10:45Speaker 15: Matter if it was in the Boston area, or or
- 1:10:48Speaker 15: if it was in Vermont, or if it was in
- 1:10:49Speaker 15: Maine or wherever it was just Crazy or Rhode Island.
- 1:10:52Speaker 15: It was a really unique connection. And there was I
- 1:10:56Speaker 15: think it was two thousand and four, we did two
- 1:10:59Speaker 15: or three ninths at the Amphitheater down in Mansfield, and
- 1:11:03Speaker 15: that's when we decided, you know, the next year we
- 1:11:05Speaker 15: were going to try. We didn't know that we could
- 1:11:07Speaker 15: pull it off, but we were going to try to
- 1:11:10Speaker 15: do a couple of stadium shows. And that year, I
- 1:11:13Speaker 15: believe in two thousand and five, we played Pittsburgh, we
- 1:11:15Speaker 15: played DC, and we played Foxboro, and it was just
- 1:11:21Speaker 15: I was stunned that we were able to to you know,
- 1:11:26Speaker 15: to to do well. You know, we're not we didn't
- 1:11:28Speaker 15: do what we're doing now, but I think we were
- 1:11:31Speaker 15: really close to selling out the first time we ever
- 1:11:32Speaker 15: played Foxborough, and it just became a tradition for us,
- 1:11:37Speaker 15: you know. But it was a big leap of faith
- 1:11:38Speaker 15: on my part and Robert's part. I mean, it was
- 1:11:42Speaker 15: neither one of us obviously knew we were going to
- 1:11:44Speaker 15: become this good of friends, or we knew that we
- 1:11:46Speaker 15: were going to be able to sustain this love affair
- 1:11:49Speaker 15: if you will, for you know, I think tonight, you know,
- 1:11:52Speaker 15: this weekend will be our twenty second, twenty third, and
- 1:11:55Speaker 15: twenty fourth shows.
- 1:11:56Speaker 1: Unbelievable.
- 1:11:57Speaker 5: Yeah, and that you're now doing three can checkative shows
- 1:12:00Speaker 5: at the same venue.
- 1:12:01Speaker 1: That's yeah.
- 1:12:01Speaker 2: I've never done that.
- 1:12:03Speaker 15: I did that one time, never in a stadium, but
- 1:12:05Speaker 15: we did it Red Rocks outside of Denver one year,
- 1:12:08Speaker 15: and that's the This is the only time we've ever
- 1:12:10Speaker 15: done two, and I've ever done three in a football stadium.
- 1:12:13Speaker 5: You mentioned some of the moments, Kenny, and You've been
- 1:12:16Speaker 5: involved with the Crafts in a lot of special moments
- 1:12:19Speaker 5: outside of the music, which is unbelievable its own sense.
- 1:12:22Speaker 5: His birthday parties, acoustics show, the night before the Super
- 1:12:26Speaker 5: Bowl in Arizona, in his suite down twenty eight to three?
- 1:12:31Speaker 5: Who's he hugging on the comeback? Ring ceremonies, unbelievable things.
- 1:12:37Speaker 2: Do you have a favorite? Well, look, the ring ceremony
- 1:12:42Speaker 2: was right up there.
- 1:12:43Speaker 8: You know, I.
- 1:12:46Speaker 15: Wasn't expecting that, you know, but all of it, you
- 1:12:50Speaker 15: know at all, when you think about all those things,
- 1:12:51Speaker 15: it's just, you know, Robert and I've been in each
- 1:12:55Speaker 15: other's lives and good times and bad times, and that's
- 1:12:58Speaker 15: what family is, you know, and that's what makes it
- 1:13:01Speaker 15: so special. And it's yes, we do business together, but
- 1:13:05Speaker 15: on aside from that, I mean, I feel like that
- 1:13:08Speaker 15: our friendship is on a completely different level than that now.
- 1:13:12Speaker 2: But if I have a.
- 1:13:12Speaker 15: Favorite, and they would be the ring ceremony for sure.
- 1:13:17Speaker 15: But being at the Super Bowl down twenty eight to three,
- 1:13:20Speaker 15: and I kept telling Robert and Jonathan they were upset
- 1:13:22Speaker 15: at halftime, that was a tough halftime to be in
- 1:13:25Speaker 15: the suite, you know what I mean exactly, so because
- 1:13:29Speaker 15: they wear their feelings. I mean, they care about this stuff,
- 1:13:32Speaker 15: you know. Obviously, if I kept telling them just wait,
- 1:13:35Speaker 15: just wait, just wait, and it's little by little, you know,
- 1:13:39Speaker 15: they just kept coming back. And I'm telling you, that
- 1:13:41Speaker 15: was a very That's got to be one of my
- 1:13:43Speaker 15: most favorite moments ever. Was that night they came back.
- 1:13:47Speaker 5: It's an interesting snapshot into society. Here's a kid from Tennessee, yeah,
- 1:13:52Speaker 5: and is now working on a twenty plus year relationship
- 1:13:56Speaker 5: with a billionaire football owners. Why do you think that
- 1:13:59Speaker 5: that relationship is endured, Kenny, because it's authentic, Honestly, We're
- 1:14:05Speaker 5: not friends because of money.
- 1:14:06Speaker 15: We're not friends. We're friends because we love sports, and
- 1:14:08Speaker 15: we're friends because we love music.
- 1:14:20Speaker 1: And now great moments in history.
- 1:14:26Speaker 2: We're we're chomping at the bit getting ready for the season.
- 1:14:29Speaker 2: Is it champing or chomping at the bit?
- 1:14:31Speaker 1: Eric, chumping? That's a good question, Fred, I've always heard
- 1:14:35Speaker 1: as chomping, but it's spelled champing, So I don't know.
- 1:14:38Speaker 1: I really don't know which one is accurate. I think
- 1:14:40Speaker 1: I did not know that.
- 1:14:42Speaker 14: Is it butt naked or buck naked?
- 1:14:46Speaker 2: I've always it's a good one. I think I'm looking
- 1:14:49Speaker 2: at you with a light stare because that's a great one.
- 1:14:54Speaker 1: I think it's bottled me. Isn't it naked? Isn't it buck?
- 1:14:58Speaker 15: So?
- 1:14:58Speaker 2: Who's a buck naked?
- 1:15:01Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 1:15:01Speaker 2: A dear is naked, and you're like a buck naked?
- 1:15:05Speaker 10: Make more sense?
- 1:15:06Speaker 1: It was this is this is a whole topic.
- 1:15:08Speaker 2: I have it right now there.
- 1:15:09Speaker 1: This is a whole topic on Miriam Webster dot com. Uh.
- 1:15:12Speaker 1: While both buck naked and butt naked are used to
- 1:15:14Speaker 1: describe someone who is fully nude, buck naked is the
- 1:15:17Speaker 1: older of the pair. Buck naked naked?
- 1:15:21Speaker 2: But what about the champion and the chopping.
- 1:15:23Speaker 1: That's another great moment.
- 1:15:28Speaker 2: All right back here and Patriots Unfiltered. It's Deuce, Alex,
- 1:15:31Speaker 2: Fred Matt and the booth for an off season edition
- 1:15:34Speaker 2: here Thursday at Gillette Stadium. Getting a lot of calls,
- 1:15:38Speaker 2: a lot of emails, thank you for listening. Even though
- 1:15:41Speaker 2: we're in the dog days of the NFL. Uh, they're
- 1:15:44Speaker 2: still listening to Patriot's Unfiltered. Tell you what doesn't matter
- 1:15:48Speaker 2: winter loose our ratings stay up there.
- 1:15:51Speaker 1: That reminded me Fred. We had a little email back
- 1:15:53Speaker 1: and forth about flesh it out and flesh it out.
- 1:15:55Speaker 1: Oh yeah, and that's sending to my phone to search
- 1:15:58Speaker 1: and I actually that easy.
- 1:16:01Speaker 2: You know, when you flush something out, you put meat
- 1:16:04Speaker 2: to the bones, you give it substance. When you flush
- 1:16:07Speaker 2: it out, you get rid of it. So it's two
- 1:16:10Speaker 2: completely different things.
- 1:16:12Speaker 1: I had to look at it, though. I was a
- 1:16:14Speaker 1: little bit I'm a little bit a little bit of
- 1:16:15Speaker 1: pushback on that because it was, like I said, like
- 1:16:17Speaker 1: I had an idea for a while that I finally
- 1:16:19Speaker 1: flushed out correct usage and that was what it was.
- 1:16:23Speaker 1: So I don't know.
- 1:16:25Speaker 4: That's another one that always confused me, is like it'll
- 1:16:28Speaker 4: tide me over. I always said it was timey over,
- 1:16:31Speaker 4: like I'll have a little snack to Timey over.
- 1:16:34Speaker 1: I've always been yes, yes, yeah, nuance of language. We
- 1:16:41Speaker 1: do all right.
- 1:16:43Speaker 2: Eight five five PATS five hundred is the hotline. But
- 1:16:47Speaker 2: before I get to that, I just want to remind
- 1:16:50Speaker 2: people to get your Bront workwear because it's based right
- 1:16:54Speaker 2: here in New England. So you know you like the
- 1:16:56Speaker 2: New England Patriots. No matter where you live, well, you

- 1:17:22Speaker 2: at brontworkwear dot com, forward slash pats or with Coupont
- 1:17:27Speaker 2: code p A T S. So get your Bront work
- 1:17:30Speaker 2: where Now.
- 1:17:31Speaker 1: There you go.
- 1:17:31Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, what's going on out there? There's like a
- 1:17:35Speaker 2: lot of laughing and not no no no no no
- 1:17:39Speaker 2: no no like that. I'm just I'm just wondering what
- 1:17:43Speaker 2: I'm missing.
- 1:17:44Speaker 3: Yeah, here's a good time going on.
- 1:17:45Speaker 1: Pretty good. Is just like say a marine's name and
- 1:17:47Speaker 1: then he just was held up a knife right.
- 1:17:53Speaker 2: No, no, just people having a good time.
- 1:17:56Speaker 1: I just want to know what's going on? Game?
- 1:17:59Speaker 2: So why I take six two six? Oh? No, wonder
- 1:18:01Speaker 2: it was so fast quick?
- 1:18:03Speaker 1: Did anybody go to the messy game last night?
- 1:18:04Speaker 4: No?
- 1:18:04Speaker 2: No, no, no, had a couple Yeah.
- 1:18:10Speaker 1: Well id you worked a couple of goals?
- 1:18:14Speaker 3: I went last year.
- 1:18:16Speaker 1: Carlos Heel score. Yeah, he's really good.
- 1:18:19Speaker 2: I like Carlos Heel. He's he's really really good. I
- 1:18:23Speaker 2: don't I don't think people like outside of REVS fan
- 1:18:26Speaker 2: understand how good he is. He's tell the people, let's
- 1:18:34Speaker 2: see who is this? This is justin. My question is
- 1:18:37Speaker 2: how much of a concern, if any, is there for
- 1:18:40Speaker 2: McDaniels not calling enough plays to feed Diggs. With his
- 1:18:44Speaker 2: past history in Buffalo about wanting more targets and McDaniel's
- 1:18:47Speaker 2: having a stigma than on any given game anyone can
- 1:18:50Speaker 2: produce below average numbers, do you have any concern that
- 1:18:53Speaker 2: there will be tension there? That's justin from Chicago. We'll
- 1:18:57Speaker 2: talk about that in a second. But he says also,
- 1:19:00Speaker 2: so I appreciate the off cities and topics to get
- 1:19:03Speaker 2: me through the workdays. So to help you out, would
- 1:19:05Speaker 2: you rather always have to sing instead of speak or dance.
- 1:19:09Speaker 1: Everywhere you walk sing? I'd take the opportunity to sing
- 1:19:13Speaker 1: all the time.
- 1:19:14Speaker 2: So instead of speaking, everything you say is a song,
- 1:19:18Speaker 2: or you dance everywhere you walk.
- 1:19:20Speaker 1: I could do tough.
- 1:19:21Speaker 3: I could do either.
- 1:19:22Speaker 2: Yeah, I think I'd rather do the dancing. About both,
- 1:19:25Speaker 2: I think it was getting annoying to everyone around.
- 1:19:28Speaker 1: Annoying.
- 1:19:29Speaker 2: It's like, goes, can he just say it? Does he
- 1:19:32Speaker 2: have to sing it?
- 1:19:34Speaker 1: In response to the craft that I just you know,
- 1:19:36Speaker 1: point out DeVante Adams had fifteen hundred yards and fourteen
- 1:19:39Speaker 1: touchdowns under Josh, so you know he's a number one
- 1:19:43Speaker 1: receiver who was very productive with him. So I get
- 1:19:45Speaker 1: the concern, though, you want to keep stuff happy and
- 1:19:48Speaker 1: you know, but again when him talking about getting open,
- 1:19:52Speaker 1: getting my other teammates open and being part of the system,
- 1:19:54Speaker 1: and it wasn't just you know, the end, He's like,
- 1:19:56Speaker 1: I can get open when on YouTube, but it's you know,
- 1:19:58Speaker 1: well my teammates as well. That's thats the stuff like,
- 1:20:00Speaker 1: but hey, welcome to diva receiver. We got to make sure.
- 1:20:03Speaker 2: Would you rather be trapped in a horror movie or
- 1:20:05Speaker 2: a zombie apocalypse? Zombie apocalypse, You'd rather be trapped in
- 1:20:08Speaker 2: a zombie horror movie.
- 1:20:10Speaker 3: Those people in horror movies are so stupid.
- 1:20:13Speaker 1: Yeah, oh yeah, he'd be smart.
- 1:20:14Speaker 4: He'd be like, I'd be way smarter than them, because
- 1:20:16Speaker 4: I'm way smarter than them when I'm watching the movie.
- 1:20:18Speaker 1: No, the biggest thing that concerns me about a zombie
- 1:20:20Speaker 1: apocalypse is I wear contacts, and I'm like, that's that's
- 1:20:23Speaker 1: gonna get dicey pretty quick. If I can't get contact
- 1:20:25Speaker 1: lens solution.
- 1:20:26Speaker 3: Well, maybe.
- 1:20:28Speaker 4: Maybe they would want Like did you see World War
- 1:20:31Speaker 4: Z with Brad Pitt and the zombies skip over people
- 1:20:34Speaker 4: who are ill, but they're ill or have some ailment,
- 1:20:38Speaker 4: so they're like, we don't need you and our army
- 1:20:40Speaker 4: of zombies.
- 1:20:41Speaker 1: I think our culture is generally obsessed with like, wouldn't
- 1:20:44Speaker 1: it be cool if I just was like living off
- 1:20:46Speaker 1: a Kansas soup with my gun in my basement? Like
- 1:20:48Speaker 1: there's a many people who just like have that fantasy.
- 1:20:51Speaker 2: And if it ever did happen, they poop their pants.
- 1:20:55Speaker 1: Like the whole like prepper subculture.
- 1:20:57Speaker 3: Of youday preppers.
- 1:20:58Speaker 1: Yeah, got all kinds survivalists, survivalists, and they're just waiting
- 1:21:03Speaker 1: for that. It'll be great when we can finally just
- 1:21:05Speaker 1: live in the woods and have to hunt animals, and
- 1:21:08Speaker 1: really would be great. I thought that we ever see
- 1:21:11Speaker 1: the movie The Road, which was a book by by
- 1:21:15Speaker 1: Cornick McCarthy. Yeah, I forget perdition.
- 1:21:20Speaker 2: The Road is just like a father and a son
- 1:21:23Speaker 2: for me, halfway up his driveway, his house is on
- 1:21:27Speaker 2: a hill. He just put in this like iron swing gate,
- 1:21:32Speaker 2: Like why, like.
- 1:21:34Speaker 3: This is my thing? Does he have a fence in
- 1:21:37Speaker 3: his yard?
- 1:21:37Speaker 4: That's it's my pet peeve When people put in these
- 1:21:40Speaker 4: huge driveway gates but they don't have a complete fence,
- 1:21:43Speaker 4: It's like what are you keeping out?
- 1:21:45Speaker 2: Like yeah, like what's going on up there that you
- 1:21:48Speaker 2: don't want cars driving up?
- 1:21:49Speaker 1: You know? It's got to be status no no.
- 1:21:51Speaker 2: But it's not even like a good you know, like
- 1:21:53Speaker 2: a wrought iron, a nice fence, gargoyles. It's just like
- 1:21:56Speaker 2: a something you'd see in a farm. It's just a
- 1:22:00Speaker 2: metal thing that swings in locks. Halfway up his driveway.
- 1:22:05Speaker 2: It doesn't even look nice, So like it's it's obviously
- 1:22:08Speaker 2: there to keep people from getting close to the house. Yeah,
- 1:22:12Speaker 2: so why like, what are you doing making meth in
- 1:22:15Speaker 2: your basement or something? You know?
- 1:22:16Speaker 1: Apocalypse He wants to keep the curses are gonna run
- 1:22:18Speaker 1: and they're gonna come here, buddy.
- 1:22:23Speaker 2: Yeah, it's weird, all right, hotline, Nelson's in LA.
- 1:22:28Speaker 1: What's up?
- 1:22:28Speaker 2: Nelson?
- 1:22:28Speaker 9: Up?
- 1:22:29Speaker 2: He was in La. Now he's gone.
- 1:22:31Speaker 1: Uh.
- 1:22:31Speaker 2: Emory's in Virginia. Hey, Emory, Emory.
- 1:22:38Speaker 1: Wow?
- 1:22:38Speaker 2: Oh wow? Two calls to uh okay.
- 1:22:42Speaker 1: I thought I was calling falgaram Mass.
- 1:22:45Speaker 2: Curtis and Saint Louis writes in says there's been a
- 1:22:48Speaker 2: lot of talk recently on what would justify a successful season,
- 1:22:52Speaker 2: whether it be wins or making the playoffs. A successful
- 1:22:55Speaker 2: twenty twenty five, in my eyes, comes down to two things.
- 1:22:58Speaker 2: Does May take the next big lead, and, like Rabel said,
- 1:23:01Speaker 2: playing competent football, not only taking advantage of bad football,
- 1:23:05Speaker 2: but also not making those bad football plays. That being said,
- 1:23:08Speaker 2: I have a couple questions. One, in your eyes, what
- 1:23:12Speaker 2: does May need to do this season to show he's
- 1:23:14Speaker 2: a franchise caliber quarterback?
- 1:23:17Speaker 1: Cut down turnovers and win games when they're closed at.
- 1:23:21Speaker 2: These ends, I you took the words out in my
- 1:23:24Speaker 2: mouth on crunch time. What do you got? What do
- 1:23:27Speaker 2: you got?
- 1:23:28Speaker 1: I think a better question might be, or maybe a
- 1:23:30Speaker 1: more interesting question is, like is there a successful season
- 1:23:33Speaker 1: for Mike Frable that doesn't involve Drake May having a
- 1:23:35Speaker 1: successful So, like, if Drake May is not good, like
- 1:23:38Speaker 1: if he's just I mean, it's hard to say he's bad,
- 1:23:40Speaker 1: but if he's just okay and kind of up and down,
- 1:23:43Speaker 1: is there a way I don't see it? Well, Like,
- 1:23:45Speaker 1: I think it's so much is tied to the quarterback.
- 1:23:46Speaker 4: If the operation around him, if everyone really knows what
- 1:23:49Speaker 4: they're doing, and the defense is really fine considering.
- 1:23:52Speaker 2: That surgeons May wasn't his pick. I mean, if Drake
- 1:23:56Speaker 2: May doesn't have a good season, but everything else is
- 1:24:00Speaker 2: where O line is playing well, you.
- 1:24:04Speaker 1: Know, then like.
- 1:24:07Speaker 2: And you're like to me, you know, that's a nightmare
- 1:24:09Speaker 2: for all a lot of us because now it's like
- 1:24:12Speaker 2: we got everything else going now we're still looking for
- 1:24:14Speaker 2: a quarterback. I can't see that being you know.
- 1:24:17Speaker 1: Yeah, And that goes back to us being in fantasyland
- 1:24:20Speaker 1: right now, where you're like, Drake May still might be
- 1:24:22Speaker 1: the best quarterback of all time. We don't know, you know, like,
- 1:24:24Speaker 1: but once you start getting reality, do you lose that
- 1:24:27Speaker 1: belief of that he might be the guy? And it's
- 1:24:29Speaker 1: just that's the worst place to be I think as
- 1:24:31Speaker 1: a fan base is to not believe that your quarterback
- 1:24:34Speaker 1: could be the guy. I think there are a lot
- 1:24:36Speaker 1: of fans out there that are kind of fooling themselves
- 1:24:38Speaker 1: maybe a little bit.
- 1:24:39Speaker 2: The second question he has is where are you with
- 1:24:43Speaker 2: the signing dilemma going on with basically all of the
- 1:24:46Speaker 2: second round picks. Ultimately, do you think the players will
- 1:24:49Speaker 2: get fully guaranteed contracts? And should the Patriots get ahead
- 1:24:53Speaker 2: of this thing and just sign Henderson to a fully
- 1:24:55Speaker 2: guaranteed contract so there are no distractions going to training? Kip,
- 1:24:59Speaker 2: is that the whole up?
- 1:25:00Speaker 4: I think the Texans and another team kind of not
- 1:25:04Speaker 4: set that precedent, but did it with their guys. So
- 1:25:06Speaker 4: now the agents of these second rounders are just trying
- 1:25:10Speaker 4: to use that as leverage.
- 1:25:12Speaker 3: That's to my understanding.
- 1:25:14Speaker 2: I thought they were slotted.
- 1:25:15Speaker 1: I don't know. I honestly don't put much time to
- 1:25:18Speaker 1: thought into like this. My money not pro to just
- 1:25:20Speaker 1: like work out with the contract signing in the past
- 1:25:23Speaker 1: before the slotting stuff. It was a little bit more
- 1:25:27Speaker 1: tenuous when the signings weren't happening, But I know that,
- 1:25:31Speaker 1: like you said, there are some different deal points now
- 1:25:33Speaker 1: that are becoming precedent that are complicating some of these decisions.
- 1:25:36Speaker 1: But ultimately I'm not really too concerned. I think that
- 1:25:38Speaker 1: they'll everything will be figured out by training camp.
- 1:25:41Speaker 2: Jake and Bedford writes in What's Up Crew? Did you
- 1:25:45Speaker 2: catch Joe Mizzula On Edelman's podcast.
- 1:25:47Speaker 1: Not Yet a little Bit? Did you? Community?
- 1:25:50Speaker 2: He mentioned in one of his old chats with Belichick
- 1:25:52Speaker 2: that Bill would bring in special operatives before the season
- 1:25:55Speaker 2: to speak to the team. Edelman said he would learn
- 1:25:57Speaker 2: cool tricks during these sessions, just as tactical hand maneuvers.
- 1:26:01Speaker 2: Do you think Vrabel will bring in any guests like this.
- 1:26:04Speaker 2: I think a lot of coaches do that. Yeah, I
- 1:26:06Speaker 2: know why Bill's brought in like Navy seals and things
- 1:26:10Speaker 2: like that.
- 1:26:10Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah, And it's always part of the lots of
- 1:26:12Speaker 1: stuff I love, like the coaching, pulling out going to
- 1:26:15Speaker 1: this movie or building activities, those kind of things. Try
- 1:26:18Speaker 1: to get guys speakers on this.
- 1:26:20Speaker 4: I think Bill brought in Ryan Holiday too, the author
- 1:26:24Speaker 4: he wrote a lot of books on just like the Stoics,
- 1:26:27Speaker 4: and I.
- 1:26:28Speaker 1: Think he helped Bill.
- 1:26:30Speaker 4: Was it Robert Green who wrote forty eight Laws of Power?
- 1:26:33Speaker 4: So Ryan Holiday was his like researcher intern or whatever,
- 1:26:38Speaker 4: and he brought him.
- 1:26:38Speaker 1: In, which, by the way, quick recommendation, there's a documentary
- 1:26:41Speaker 1: out there right now about American apparel and like excellent
- 1:26:45Speaker 1: guy who was way into the forty eight Laws of
- 1:26:47Speaker 1: Power and ran that whole business by that and basically
- 1:26:49Speaker 1: terrorized everyone who worked for him.
- 1:26:52Speaker 2: PS Bazula also let slip that some Patriots players opted
- 1:26:56Speaker 2: into try out getting waterboarded. I was like, Yeah, which
- 1:27:01Speaker 2: PU member do you think would be tough enough for that?
- 1:27:03Speaker 2: I think my guy Paul would fare the best.
- 1:27:07Speaker 1: That's tough man. Who do you think would be best
- 1:27:10Speaker 1: equipped to deal with drowning? Yeah?
- 1:27:12Speaker 2: And PPS, when can we stop taking calls from Todd?
- 1:27:16Speaker 2: Can we try waterboarding him?
- 1:27:18Speaker 1: My god will be waterboarded? That is interesting though, That's
- 1:27:23Speaker 1: like guys were signing up to see what that was like.
- 1:27:26Speaker 2: Yeah, but is that one.
- 1:27:28Speaker 1: Who wants to be boarded? Coach?
- 1:27:31Speaker 11: Just nothing?
- 1:27:34Speaker 2: Have you done it? Really?
- 1:27:35Speaker 15: All?
- 1:27:35Speaker 2: Right?
- 1:27:36Speaker 3: I volunteer Matt then? I think Matt would be most.
- 1:27:39Speaker 2: Like, so basically you have to just like understand that, Yeah,
- 1:27:42Speaker 2: I'm gonna have water up my nose, and don't freak out.
- 1:27:45Speaker 2: You don't freak out. Yeah it might feel weird, but
- 1:27:51Speaker 2: don't freak out in an.
- 1:27:52Speaker 7: Actual waterboarding torture situation to keep them mentalities crazy.
- 1:27:55Speaker 1: But if you do it with your friends, you're.
- 1:27:58Speaker 3: With your friends friends, Matt, My friends aren't professionals.
- 1:28:03Speaker 1: So we were just water boardering and Shohnny just died.
- 1:28:07Speaker 1: So what is it like they put your side down
- 1:28:09Speaker 1: with a wet towel or.
- 1:28:09Speaker 3: Your face dump of five gallons?
- 1:28:13Speaker 1: Yeah, we could do it.
- 1:28:14Speaker 2: You're a little bit slanted back though, right. Your head's
- 1:28:17Speaker 2: a little bit lower than your feet, Is that right
- 1:28:19Speaker 2: or not?
- 1:28:19Speaker 1: That's probably.
- 1:28:22Speaker 2: Okay. On a picnic table, if you rolls over, you
- 1:28:27Speaker 2: got into the mashed potatoes.
- 1:28:29Speaker 1: This is where we eat. This is where we get waterboarded.
- 1:28:31Speaker 2: Potato salads over here, waterboards over here.
- 1:28:34Speaker 3: You think we'd get flagged on YouTube if we tried
- 1:28:36Speaker 3: to do.
- 1:28:36Speaker 2: That waterboarding each other in the studio, it would be
- 1:28:40Speaker 2: a mess.
- 1:28:40Speaker 8: I'll do it.
- 1:28:41Speaker 2: I'll try it, sure, allright.
- 1:28:43Speaker 1: Evan, He'll be like, be like, I want to get
- 1:28:46Speaker 1: now if.
- 1:28:47Speaker 2: You waterboarded, Paul would diet pepsi. He would just take
- 1:28:50Speaker 2: it in. It would be like, yeah, like heaven, are
- 1:28:53Speaker 2: going to put it up my nose, put it up
- 1:28:55Speaker 2: my ass, it doesn't matter, it's diet pepsi. I'll take
- 1:28:59Speaker 2: it any whole I can get.
- 1:29:01Speaker 1: Yeah, the first time I saw Paul snort diapepsy, it
- 1:29:04Speaker 1: was a little disconcerted.
- 1:29:05Speaker 2: Yeah, it was weird.
- 1:29:06Speaker 1: That's how he likes it.
- 1:29:06Speaker 2: Yeah, well, yeah, he's an ivy at home. He has
- 1:29:10Speaker 2: he has the clicker in one hand. He's got the ivy.
- 1:29:13Speaker 3: He dehydrates it into little tablets. Snort, crush up.
- 1:29:17Speaker 2: Yeah, just kidding. Oh boy. Justin writes, and even if
- 1:29:21Speaker 2: it's the dog days of the NFL Patriots, Unfiltered is
- 1:29:24Speaker 2: by far and away the best sports podcast and just
- 1:29:27Speaker 2: this best sports media in general. Wow, that's really nice.
- 1:29:30Speaker 1: Thanks Justin.
- 1:29:32Speaker 2: Your T shirts on the way, have we created new
- 1:29:35Speaker 2: T shirts yet? What's going on with T shirts?
- 1:29:37Speaker 14: I've been setting out found a box upstairs, So I've
- 1:29:40Speaker 14: been setting about people who.
- 1:29:41Speaker 2: Oh, he found a box, But I want to make
- 1:29:43Speaker 2: new ones that are higher quality.
- 1:29:46Speaker 1: I don't know where we're at with that.
- 1:29:47Speaker 2: That's about okay, so we'll send Matisa an email just
- 1:29:51Speaker 2: say Fred said, we want to make.
- 1:29:54Speaker 1: More T shirts, probably about six.
- 1:29:57Speaker 2: Everyone has a great array of opinions and personalities. All
- 1:29:59Speaker 2: of you are unique and fun to listen to. I'm
- 1:30:01Speaker 2: always looking forward to every Tuesday and Thursday because I
- 1:30:04Speaker 2: know the PU crew is going to drop another great episode.
- 1:30:07Speaker 2: Oh that's really.
- 1:30:08Speaker 1: Nice, very nice. I really appreciate it.
- 1:30:10Speaker 2: And of course for those of you who are new
- 1:30:11Speaker 2: to the show during the season it's Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.
- 1:30:16Speaker 1: I really appreciate people thanking us, though, I mean, it
- 1:30:18Speaker 1: feels a little strange at times because I love what
- 1:30:21Speaker 1: I do and I love talking Patriots football and nonsense
- 1:30:24Speaker 1: is a probably my favorite thing, and it's always stranger
- 1:30:26Speaker 1: and people are like, thank you so much for you do.
- 1:30:28Speaker 1: I'm like, I thank you, Like I love what I do,
- 1:30:30Speaker 1: so it's great that people like joy.
- 1:30:32Speaker 2: I had the AC guy, like I said, last week
- 1:30:36Speaker 2: or two weeks ago, and he was when he was done,
- 1:30:39Speaker 2: he was like, yeah, just so you know, I listen
- 1:30:41Speaker 2: all the time. You guys do great and like, you know,
- 1:30:43Speaker 2: I'm genuinely like, really, wow, thanks, you know that'll never
- 1:30:47Speaker 2: like become new to me, I mean become old to me.
- 1:30:51Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, it's it's cool. Appreciate it. I'm glad people
- 1:30:55Speaker 1: take enjoyment from it, because yeah, enjoyable to produce.
- 1:30:57Speaker 2: Jeff and Canada, do we know anything about vrabel stance
- 1:31:00Speaker 2: on starting? People are playing starters in the preseason some teams.
- 1:31:05Speaker 2: It's not hard at all in the past where you
- 1:31:06Speaker 2: used to at least a few quarters of starters. What
- 1:31:08Speaker 2: are your thoughts?
- 1:31:09Speaker 1: That's a great question. Actually, that that makes me want
- 1:31:12Speaker 1: to go look at Tennessee and how I handled it there.
- 1:31:15Speaker 1: I still think ever since we've gone back to three
- 1:31:17Speaker 1: preseason games, there isn't an established it's ad dress rehearsal.
- 1:31:21Speaker 1: Remember that, like the therapy, it's a dress rehearsal. And
- 1:31:24Speaker 1: then the fourth game was always a trash like throwaway,
- 1:31:27Speaker 1: just the guy. Maybe one or two guys might have
- 1:31:29Speaker 1: a chance to make the team off of that. But
- 1:31:31Speaker 1: there's no real established a neadance to the preseason games.
- 1:31:34Speaker 1: Now it's it's right, what do you want to do?
- 1:31:36Speaker 1: What do you need to work on?
- 1:31:37Speaker 2: It's yeah, what's the state of your team? Are you're
- 1:31:40Speaker 2: breaking in a new quarterback? How young? How old is
- 1:31:43Speaker 2: your team? Coaching staff. There's so many variables that change
- 1:31:49Speaker 2: it when you only have three, and we know eventually
- 1:31:52Speaker 2: it's only going to be two. So then these joint practices,
- 1:31:56Speaker 2: the importance of joint practice, are going to really.
- 1:31:59Speaker 1: Ratchet up good barometer. The joint practices. Yeah, you watch,
- 1:32:05Speaker 1: You could watch training camp for just the Patriots practice
- 1:32:07Speaker 1: all summer. You come out of it. I think that
- 1:32:09Speaker 1: was twenty twenty. I have no idea, no idea what
- 1:32:11Speaker 1: this team is. But with joint practices, I think you
- 1:32:13Speaker 1: get a little bit of the sense.
- 1:32:15Speaker 2: Emory's back on the line in Virginia. What's up, Emory Emory? Okay,
- 1:32:21Speaker 2: this is oh for two? Okay, Well that's that's poor
- 1:32:25Speaker 2: to me. Sean's and Vancouver. Hey Sean, Hi, Fred, Mike,
- 1:32:31Speaker 2: Hey Sean, Alex.
- 1:32:32Speaker 11: Great to hear you all. I love this show. I
- 1:32:35Speaker 11: agree with everyone who wrote in. I just have one
- 1:32:38Speaker 11: question about that though. Is there room for all five
- 1:32:42Speaker 11: of you in the studio, because I, you know, I
- 1:32:44Speaker 11: don't really see that happening. There's always like someone not there.
- 1:32:48Speaker 2: No, it's not all No, there's there's five spaces. But
- 1:32:51Speaker 2: it's summer. People take time off.
- 1:32:53Speaker 11: Oh no, no, yeah, yea. But during the regular season.
- 1:32:56Speaker 11: Alex would love to see it come in more.
- 1:32:59Speaker 3: I think it's set up. It depends what's set up.
- 1:33:02Speaker 2: We have have five with the desk, we can do
- 1:33:06Speaker 2: five with the seats is four. I think we're going
- 1:33:08Speaker 2: to stick with the desk for now. Yeah, we've been
- 1:33:10Speaker 2: bringing play yeah right, yeah.
- 1:33:13Speaker 3: I'll come in more during the season.
- 1:33:15Speaker 11: For you, Sean, thank you, I appreciate you. I've been
- 1:33:20Speaker 11: thinking about this quite a bit, people predicting games for
- 1:33:24Speaker 11: the season, and I came across a website today that
- 1:33:28Speaker 11: really had me impressed with the way they did it.
- 1:33:31Speaker 11: It's called Past Godmother, and they broke down the schedule
- 1:33:36Speaker 11: in terms of path uh and and the different ways
- 1:33:39Speaker 11: they broke it down is one group is have to win,
- 1:33:43Speaker 11: so it's like six games they consider have to win
- 1:33:45Speaker 11: games the ones that they feel really good about. Next
- 1:33:48Speaker 11: group is should win but won't be easy. Third group
- 1:33:52Speaker 11: is should lose but not surprise, the paths win, and
- 1:33:55Speaker 11: the last one with four games is already penciled in.
- 1:34:00Speaker 11: There's a low need a fluke to win that one.
- 1:34:03Speaker 11: And that's I think it was really good way to
- 1:34:05Speaker 11: look at it, because there's ways to set up expectations
- 1:34:10Speaker 11: in terms of the schedule and how you're going to
- 1:34:13Speaker 11: feel about each game, and if you win one of
- 1:34:15Speaker 11: these already pencil and loss, like you can have a
- 1:34:18Speaker 11: big celebration like, Wow, we beat the Ravens. It's amazing.
- 1:34:21Speaker 11: So I'll leave you with that.
- 1:34:23Speaker 2: Well, did you do it with the Patriots?
- 1:34:25Speaker 1: How did I pulled the schedule up right here? Right now?
- 1:34:27Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 1:34:27Speaker 11: Yeah, you know this website it's it's all about the Patriots.
- 1:34:33Speaker 2: Did you do it? What did we come out as?
- 1:34:35Speaker 15: No?
- 1:34:35Speaker 11: I agree completely with them, like the way they have
- 1:34:38Speaker 11: it in terms of like, no.
- 1:34:40Speaker 2: I understand, I understand how they divvt it up, but
- 1:34:43Speaker 2: what did they come up with as the record for
- 1:34:46Speaker 2: the Patriots?
- 1:34:48Speaker 11: Well, they don't even have an actual record. They say
- 1:34:52Speaker 11: this is a road map to ten wins for a
- 1:34:54Speaker 11: playoff berth, So they don't even give their fact that
- 1:34:57Speaker 11: because this is what we think will happen. This is
- 1:34:59Speaker 11: like this is but we break it down as.
- 1:35:01Speaker 10: A way to get it.
- 1:35:02Speaker 11: And I agree with that. Like I can't predict the future.
- 1:35:05Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 1:35:06Speaker 11: There's so many things are gonna happen, like injuries and
- 1:35:09Speaker 11: with the way things go for other teams, But just
- 1:35:12Speaker 11: a way to think about it beforehand. This is a
- 1:35:14Speaker 11: good way to set your expectations.
- 1:35:16Speaker 2: Okay, all right, thanks Sean. I expect to win every game.
- 1:35:19Speaker 2: I don't know about you guys, but I don't win
- 1:35:21Speaker 2: every game thinking we're gonna win.
- 1:35:23Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean at Cincinnati, not throwing you know, throwing
- 1:35:26Speaker 1: last year's result out of there. At Baltimore and at Buffalo,
- 1:35:29Speaker 1: like those three seem like those are gonna be tough.
- 1:35:31Speaker 1: They's gonna be tough to get wins on the road
- 1:35:32Speaker 1: against those teams. Us year's Patriots team did it, so
- 1:35:35Speaker 1: it's not imposible.
- 1:35:36Speaker 2: If you're gonna win ten games, you're probably gonna have
- 1:35:38Speaker 2: to win a couple of games you're not supposed to.
- 1:35:41Speaker 1: I mean the rest of them are all just feel
- 1:35:42Speaker 1: like wars. I mean that's how I kind of It's
- 1:35:44Speaker 1: like those three games probably tough to win. The other
- 1:35:47Speaker 1: fourteen flip of a coin battle, you know, knowing nothing
- 1:35:51Speaker 1: about these teams, but the Raiders, I mean, at Miami,
- 1:35:54Speaker 1: they've got some questions this year. Pittsburgh's remade talent's no question.
- 1:35:57Speaker 1: But Carolina, Atlanta, Cleveland, I mean, these are all teams
- 1:36:00Speaker 1: that are in the Patriots seem genre of trying to
- 1:36:03Speaker 1: get on the upswing. So this is where you prove it.
- 1:36:06Speaker 1: You beat the other bad teams, and then you get
- 1:36:08Speaker 1: that second or first place schedule and then you start
- 1:36:10Speaker 1: to play the good teams and you get back into
- 1:36:12Speaker 1: that mix of But this is you know, a little
- 1:36:14Speaker 1: bit of like a relegation year, you know, or you
- 1:36:16Speaker 1: gotta play the fourth play schedule, so you gotta you
- 1:36:18Speaker 1: gotta win a lot of games this year. Take advantage
- 1:36:20Speaker 1: of it.
- 1:36:21Speaker 2: Damon's in Maryland? What's up? Damon again?
- 1:36:25Speaker 4: Going?
- 1:36:28Speaker 10: So two quick questions.
- 1:36:29Speaker 9: My first question is do you remember your first sports
- 1:36:33Speaker 9: heartbreak as a fan?
- 1:36:36Speaker 16: I think of the two thousand and five SIS in
- 1:36:38Speaker 16: Divisional against the Broncos.
- 1:36:40Speaker 1: Oh great game, great game, great call.
- 1:36:42Speaker 16: It was on my birthday and just devastated, not want
- 1:36:46Speaker 16: to go to school at all.
- 1:36:48Speaker 9: My dad is a Ravens fan and he still made me.
- 1:36:52Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:36:53Speaker 9: And then my my.
- 1:36:55Speaker 16: Next question is for a training camp, I will admit
- 1:36:58Speaker 16: I nerd out just as much of out seeing like
- 1:37:00Speaker 16: the Pats social media staff and you guys there as
- 1:37:04Speaker 16: I do with the players. Is there gonna be a
- 1:37:06Speaker 16: bluth or of chances to like to chat with you guys?
- 1:37:09Speaker 16: Get autographs, take pictures of that nature.
- 1:37:13Speaker 2: During camp training camp.
- 1:37:15Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, possibly, yeah, yeah, I'm always down there.
- 1:37:19Speaker 2: We'll be around.
- 1:37:19Speaker 1: Just give me a shout out. Sometimes I go down
- 1:37:21Speaker 1: there with T shirts. So if you see me walking around,
- 1:37:23Speaker 1: just yellow deuce. I just want to make sure I
- 1:37:26Speaker 1: get int the p U fans though, because like, once
- 1:37:27Speaker 1: people see you have some swag, they don't care.
- 1:37:29Speaker 2: That, they don't care. What want to be dirty socks.
- 1:37:32Speaker 2: It's free, I'll take it. We'll be around, so you know,
- 1:37:36Speaker 2: always good idea email us before you come and so
- 1:37:40Speaker 2: we know you're around.
- 1:37:41Speaker 1: And yeah, yeah, yep say. I was just gonna say,
- 1:37:45Speaker 1: response to your question of losses, that five Denver game
- 1:37:48Speaker 1: is a great one. Now we'll like spurred my whole
- 1:37:49Speaker 1: Patriots obsessions. Well, oh no, there's a clock on this.
- 1:37:52Speaker 2: My first sports heartbreak was Muhammed Eli losing to Joe
- 1:37:56Speaker 2: Fray really in their first bout. So you know, you
- 1:37:59Speaker 2: couldn't watch it on TV back then because they had
- 1:38:01Speaker 2: what they call close circuit TV, and you know you
- 1:38:04Speaker 2: couldn't watch it. But on the radio there was the
- 1:38:07Speaker 2: station that after every round, the guy was giving his
- 1:38:10Speaker 2: synopsis and I remember like just you know, glued to
- 1:38:14Speaker 2: the radio listening to this and uh and it was late.
- 1:38:18Speaker 2: It's late because I think the I forget where the
- 1:38:21Speaker 2: fight was, but it was, you know, late at night,
- 1:38:25Speaker 2: and it looked like Ali was gonna win just from
- 1:38:28Speaker 2: this guy's synopsis. And then you know, he you know,
- 1:38:31Speaker 2: Fraser knocked him down. I think he broke his jaw,
- 1:38:33Speaker 2: you know, so you never know, and then Fraser got
- 1:38:35Speaker 2: the decision.
- 1:38:36Speaker 1: I was just devastated.
- 1:38:37Speaker 2: I was just.
- 1:38:38Speaker 1: Devastat what an interesting way to watch a sporting or
- 1:38:40Speaker 1: listening listening to it, And what would he be doing
- 1:38:43Speaker 1: while the fight was going on.
- 1:38:44Speaker 2: You couldn't, he couldn't. So they'd go back to regular
- 1:38:46Speaker 2: program and then after the round he would give his
- 1:38:50Speaker 2: his scenomais and I was just you know, every word
- 1:38:55Speaker 2: he said I was glued to. And then Ali lost
- 1:38:57Speaker 2: and I was just devastated.
- 1:38:59Speaker 1: The Ruins losses in the Stanley Cup finals, I think
- 1:39:02Speaker 1: it was eighty eight ninety those those really those really
- 1:39:05Speaker 1: hurt me. Remember the Patriots losing in the in the
- 1:39:07Speaker 1: playoffs to the Browns. That that one I clearly remember
- 1:39:11Speaker 1: being being disappointed at. But yeah, that Denver game, I'm
- 1:39:15Speaker 1: right with them. That one, Like, I don't think I
- 1:39:16Speaker 1: would be sitting here right now without that Denver loss,
- 1:39:18Speaker 1: because that was like, that's just what spurred me to
- 1:39:20Speaker 1: action of like, there's a limited amount of time with
- 1:39:22Speaker 1: Belichick and Brady. How many can they get? And what
- 1:39:25Speaker 1: does this defensive genius thing mean? And you know, it
- 1:39:27Speaker 1: just opened up a whole book that I wanted to read.
- 1:39:30Speaker 2: Essentially, Yeah, I mean, obviously seven is the origin. That's
- 1:39:35Speaker 2: the worst.
- 1:39:37Speaker 4: I still remember the aim away message I wrote after
- 1:39:39Speaker 4: that game.
- 1:39:40Speaker 2: But prior to that, the eighty six Mets loss, I mean,
- 1:39:43Speaker 2: Red Sox loss to the Mets in the World Series
- 1:39:45Speaker 2: was just ridiculously bad. You know, they could have they
- 1:39:50Speaker 2: should have won it in the sixth game, and when
- 1:39:53Speaker 2: they didn't, I did a I made a sign and
- 1:39:55Speaker 2: I put it out on commab. I said, I said,
- 1:39:58Speaker 2: I forget what it was, but if there's justice, if
- 1:40:02Speaker 2: there's justice on earth, in a god in heaven, the
- 1:40:04Speaker 2: Red Sox will win the series in seven. So I
- 1:40:07Speaker 2: put that sign out in commab. I was so convinced,
- 1:40:09Speaker 2: all right, they're gonna win this thing and they didn't
- 1:40:11Speaker 2: win it. I was so mad.
- 1:40:13Speaker 1: Did you hear people like conquent your sign and like
- 1:40:15Speaker 1: support the stuf.
- 1:40:16Speaker 2: Well, I just left it there. I didn't.
- 1:40:17Speaker 1: I didn't stand, I didn't forget it walk away. I
- 1:40:19Speaker 1: didn't stan sending a message to the fans, right, I
- 1:40:21Speaker 1: know it'll be received. I don't need to right sit
- 1:40:24Speaker 1: around and watch it.
- 1:40:25Speaker 2: But just that was bad. You know, I was at
- 1:40:29Speaker 2: Denver Broncos fan, so I had a lot of heartbreak
- 1:40:31Speaker 2: in those Super Bowls.
- 1:40:34Speaker 1: I mean O seven to twenty fourteen. I mean, I
- 1:40:37Speaker 1: guess I say two thousand and four to twenty fourteen.
- 1:40:40Speaker 1: That's ten years of every one of those last Patriot losses.
- 1:40:44Speaker 1: Was was devastating and heartbreaking, and you know in different ways.
- 1:40:47Speaker 2: The eighty five NBA Playoffs when Magic hit that little
- 1:40:54Speaker 2: hook over the middle to end the game, that was
- 1:40:57Speaker 2: that that killed me. That was a tough one.
- 1:41:00Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:41:01Speaker 2: So better to have been there and lost than never
- 1:41:04Speaker 2: to have been there at all.
- 1:41:05Speaker 1: Right, see, I'm Paul here to chime in about Northeastern laws.
- 1:41:09Speaker 2: Oh well, yeah, I mean, his his thing started when
- 1:41:13Speaker 2: he couldn't get into Northeastern, right, he had no It's
- 1:41:16Speaker 2: not that he couldn't get in, but like bu was
- 1:41:19Speaker 2: the only one that would give him money or something
- 1:41:21Speaker 2: like that for to play baseball, so he chose to
- 1:41:24Speaker 2: be regrets it to this day. Eric regrets not getting
- 1:41:28Speaker 2: into Brown.
- 1:41:30Speaker 1: That's that that had to hit.
- 1:41:31Speaker 2: I couldn't believe I got into any school, so I
- 1:41:33Speaker 2: didn't care.
- 1:41:34Speaker 3: It's happy to be there.
- 1:41:35Speaker 2: Yeah, Jeffson, California. What's up?
- 1:41:38Speaker 10: Jeff Hey, how are you doing? But you have to
- 1:41:42Speaker 10: take my call. So I've been a fan of the
- 1:41:46Speaker 10: Patriots since the mid seventies since can you hear me?
- 1:41:52Speaker 2: Yes, you've been a fan of the Patriots since the
- 1:41:54Speaker 2: mid seventies.
- 1:41:55Speaker 10: Yeah, Steve Grogan my favorite player, and Jim it's my
- 1:42:00Speaker 10: favorite number is fourteen. Cool, and we've had so many
- 1:42:07Speaker 10: bad years back then. But yes, I just could not
- 1:42:10Speaker 10: go through the McPherson year.
- 1:42:13Speaker 2: Okay as a.
- 1:42:14Speaker 10: Coach, but last year was the worst. I thought Mayo
- 1:42:18Speaker 10: was so far over his head. Every time I listened
- 1:42:21Speaker 10: to a press conference, he did not know what he
- 1:42:24Speaker 10: was doing. And I don't really want to just, you know,
- 1:42:27Speaker 10: bail on him. But two questions I had, what do
- 1:42:31Speaker 10: you think the realistic chances of Diggs making the roster?
- 1:42:36Speaker 10: Another one is, has either Evan or bart ever been
- 1:42:40Speaker 10: considered for a scouting position. In the front office or
- 1:42:46Speaker 10: even maybe a consultant.
- 1:42:47Speaker 2: Yeah, as far as I know, the answer to the
- 1:42:49Speaker 2: second question is no.
- 1:42:51Speaker 10: You know, with all the issues Bigie has always had
- 1:42:54Speaker 10: everywhere he's gone, I think the pictriots got the did
- 1:43:00Speaker 10: just who the pictures thought he was, and they let
- 1:43:02Speaker 10: him off the hook.
- 1:43:06Speaker 1: Who's he talking about with Diggs? He said.
- 1:43:10Speaker 2: They let him off the hook when because of the
- 1:43:12Speaker 2: boat thing or what are you talking about?
- 1:43:14Speaker 10: Well, because of the substance. Substance.
- 1:43:17Speaker 2: Oh, I don't know what happened behind the scenes there,
- 1:43:20Speaker 2: so apparently you know that was dealt with internally. So
- 1:43:25Speaker 2: I don't know if they let him off the hook
- 1:43:27Speaker 2: or not. But thanks for the call, Jeff. I mean,
- 1:43:30Speaker 2: right now he's working out with Drake May and saying
- 1:43:33Speaker 2: all the right, that's all I care about. I don't
- 1:43:35Speaker 2: care what he does on a boat. I care what
- 1:43:37Speaker 2: he does when he's here in Foxborough and on the
- 1:43:40Speaker 2: playing field, and if he does well there, I don't
- 1:43:43Speaker 2: I don't care what he's doing.
- 1:43:45Speaker 1: Yeah, the bottom line is can he help Drake May
- 1:43:47Speaker 1: get to the next level? And that's what we talked
- 1:43:50Speaker 1: about plenty over the last couple of years. As you
- 1:43:52Speaker 1: need to put talent around these young quarterbacks, and I
- 1:43:55Speaker 1: think he's doing all the right things. I like, I
- 1:43:57Speaker 1: get it. But you're right, Fred, I mean I think
- 1:43:59Speaker 1: that that's going to be long forgotten.
- 1:44:01Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 1:44:01Speaker 2: I don't want them to you know, commit crimes or
- 1:44:03Speaker 2: you know, hurt people. Obviously, we're not going to tolerate that.
- 1:44:07Speaker 2: But yeah, all right, Uh, Mike's in New Jersey.
- 1:44:12Speaker 1: What's up?
- 1:44:13Speaker 2: You gotta sub Mike? Mike is that your name? I
- 1:44:25Speaker 2: can't hear you talking to the phone kind of okay, Mike,
- 1:44:32Speaker 2: all right, we're gonna move on. We're gonna move on.
- 1:44:37Speaker 2: Let's see George rights in. I think you guys are
- 1:44:41Speaker 2: doing a lot of great work. Thank you. I'll be
- 1:44:44Speaker 2: coming up to Jillette Stadium to see training camp. Will
- 1:44:46Speaker 2: players be signing merch? There are? There are players signing
- 1:44:50Speaker 2: after every practice, but position, if you're an adult, it
- 1:44:56Speaker 2: might be a little harder. I think the players get
- 1:44:59Speaker 2: prefer reference to the kids. Yeah first, but.
- 1:45:02Speaker 1: But I'm sure Paul and I will sign autographs for
- 1:45:04Speaker 1: you if that does anything for you.
- 1:45:07Speaker 2: What should I be looking for in the players?
- 1:45:10Speaker 1: Ah, well, it depends on the day. Yeah, if you
- 1:45:13Speaker 1: go up early on probably not a lot to really
- 1:45:17Speaker 1: walk away and say this is what this team is
- 1:45:19Speaker 1: going to be. But guys knowing where to be lining
- 1:45:22Speaker 1: up in the right spot, the intensity of practice where
- 1:45:24Speaker 1: Mike Rabel lines up kind of just keep an eye
- 1:45:27Speaker 1: on him. That's usually fun to see what position groups
- 1:45:30Speaker 1: he's popping in with. And then get to the one
- 1:45:32Speaker 1: on one stuff That can be a little bit fun,
- 1:45:33Speaker 1: but you know, just you can't overreact to any of
- 1:45:35Speaker 1: these drills. And like I said on Tuesday, the one
- 1:45:39Speaker 1: on ones and all that stuff, it gets a lot
- 1:45:40Speaker 1: of attention, but at the same time, it's training camp,
- 1:45:44Speaker 1: it's practice. They're trying to get better, they're trying to
- 1:45:46Speaker 1: do things they're uncomfortable with, so not everything's gonna be
- 1:45:49Speaker 1: gonna be clicking. But one more thing I was going
- 1:45:51Speaker 1: to say too earlier, was I thought it was interesting
- 1:45:52Speaker 1: Vrabel said during this during this spring and it goes
- 1:45:57Speaker 1: without saying, but I just to hear him explicitly say likequarterback,
- 1:46:00Speaker 1: so let you know who they like, because that's who
- 1:46:01Speaker 1: they throw the ball to a lot. So as much
- 1:46:04Speaker 1: as you know, sometimes we rail on people who keep
- 1:46:06Speaker 1: stats at practice, which you add it all up and
- 1:46:09Speaker 1: it's tough to get the true meaning of it. But
- 1:46:11Speaker 1: I do think that there is value when you look
- 1:46:13Speaker 1: at the number of targets that a certain player has
- 1:46:15Speaker 1: during team portions of drills. So those kind of things
- 1:46:18Speaker 1: good to keep an eye on. And then once you
- 1:46:20Speaker 1: get to joint practices, there's plenty to watch. I mean,
- 1:46:23Speaker 1: take your pick. I mean you have one on ones
- 1:46:25Speaker 1: going here for the defensive and offensive line. You've got
- 1:46:28Speaker 1: cornerbacks and wide receivers. You've got linebackers going against running
- 1:46:30Speaker 1: backs and tight ends. It's just a pot pirie of
- 1:46:33Speaker 1: football things to watch. So that's why the joint practice
- 1:46:36Speaker 1: is such a great take because there's just no matter
- 1:46:38Speaker 1: where you're sitting, there's going to be something going on
- 1:46:40Speaker 1: close to you. And especially with these two teams are
- 1:46:43Speaker 1: going to be practicing against, although Minnesota will be in Minnesota,
- 1:46:46Speaker 1: but talent all over the field really fun.
- 1:46:49Speaker 2: Let's see Danna Rhode Island has a over and under. Okay, ready,
- 1:46:57Speaker 2: let's see Drake may over under forty two hundred passing
- 1:47:01Speaker 2: and rushing yards so combined, Yah.
- 1:47:04Speaker 1: That's a lot. I don't m like go on here,
- 1:47:07Speaker 1: like go on here?
- 1:47:08Speaker 2: So how many how many rushing yards do you think
- 1:47:10Speaker 2: you'll have.
- 1:47:12Speaker 1: Enough.
- 1:47:13Speaker 2: Do you think it's more than three hundred.
- 1:47:16Speaker 1: No, that's probably like a decent number, I think somewhere
- 1:47:19Speaker 1: in there. I mean, the question is just how much
- 1:47:21Speaker 1: are they really going to design runs for him? I
- 1:47:23Speaker 1: think it's going to be a pick your spots with
- 1:47:25Speaker 1: that talked about in the red zone, using read option
- 1:47:28Speaker 1: stuff like that to give the quarterback a little bit
- 1:47:31Speaker 1: of space to make plays. It's a lot harder to
- 1:47:34Speaker 1: defend when you have that extra guy holding onto the ball.
- 1:47:37Speaker 1: So I'd like to see that. I don't need to
- 1:47:38Speaker 1: see Lamar Jackson. I don't need to see Jaydon Daniels
- 1:47:42Speaker 1: where you're consistently getting into that stuff when you're in
- 1:47:44Speaker 1: your conventional offense in the middle of the field, but
- 1:47:47Speaker 1: the sneaks the third downs, nothing's open and he carries it.
- 1:47:50Speaker 1: Those plays three hundred sounds about right to me. I think,
- 1:47:53Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 1:47:54Speaker 2: Three fifty all right, Marcus Jones over under one and
- 1:47:58Speaker 2: a half touchdowns.
- 1:48:00Speaker 1: Oh, let's go over on that, really Yeah, Sure, Marcus
- 1:48:03Speaker 1: Jones gets a punt return.
- 1:48:05Speaker 2: And okay, it picks six. Okay, Harold Landry over under
- 1:48:09Speaker 2: nine and a half sacks.
- 1:48:10Speaker 1: It's a really interesting number. I want to say over,
- 1:48:15Speaker 1: but like I'm just I'm so worried it's gonna be
- 1:48:17Speaker 1: under and they need so much of him.
- 1:48:19Speaker 2: Well, as long as a lot of people are getting sacks,
- 1:48:22Speaker 2: I don't think you need that double.
- 1:48:23Speaker 1: You know, I'm gonna say under.
- 1:48:25Speaker 3: Under and let them do it by committee.
- 1:48:27Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah, but I think he needs to be seven
- 1:48:30Speaker 1: eight nine kind of a kind of an impact to
- 1:48:32Speaker 1: really for the offense to really be hunting.
- 1:48:34Speaker 2: Okay, Carlton Davis two and a hay interceptions.
- 1:48:38Speaker 1: Can't throw at Gonzo, You're gonna have to throw at him,
- 1:48:39Speaker 1: I guess, so I'm gonna say over with him.
- 1:48:41Speaker 2: Yeah. Jared Wilson five and a hay starts.
- 1:48:47Speaker 1: Interesting, I'm gonna say, andres we haven't even seen him yet,
- 1:48:51Speaker 1: But I think that's again, like the Landry won great
- 1:48:53Speaker 1: questions that really get to the.
- 1:48:55Speaker 2: Heart of I'm gonna say over this year.
- 1:48:56Speaker 1: See that's great. I mean, if he's able to come
- 1:48:58Speaker 1: in and win a starting job and wow, we all rookie,
- 1:49:00Speaker 1: they believe in a rookie this.
- 1:49:01Speaker 3: Quick and hopefully not by necessity of injury.
- 1:49:05Speaker 2: Kyle Williams twelve and a half yards per reception.
- 1:49:09Speaker 1: Oh, I'll go over on that one. I think he's
- 1:49:12Speaker 1: gonna be a oh yeah, you think he'll be I
- 1:49:14Speaker 1: don't think I'll love a lot of class, but I
- 1:49:15Speaker 1: think he's got the downfield's catching skills and a little
- 1:49:19Speaker 1: savvy to get off the line.
- 1:49:20Speaker 2: And finally, Mike Rabel zero point five Microsoft surface is broken?
- 1:49:26Speaker 2: Has he been known to throw those?
- 1:49:28Speaker 1: I hope it's under. I hope it's under. I don't
- 1:49:30Speaker 1: need anything getting raves that mad. He's got to break
- 1:49:33Speaker 1: some tablets.
- 1:49:34Speaker 2: Okay, um, let's see jacket and arbus is. His biggest
- 1:49:42Speaker 2: heartbreak was September twenty fourth, nineteen ninety four. I was
- 1:49:47Speaker 2: watching from row twenty five in the twenty yard line.
- 1:49:50Speaker 2: Colorado's Cordell Stewart watched the sixty four yard desperation pass
- 1:49:54Speaker 2: time seemed to slow down. At the end of the day,
- 1:49:57Speaker 2: it fell into the arms of Colorado's Michael Westbrook to
- 1:50:00Speaker 2: give Colorado an improbable, miraculous twenty seven to twenty six win.
- 1:50:05Speaker 1: I like those Colorado teams there at be inge me
- 1:50:07Speaker 1: and for those days.
- 1:50:09Speaker 2: Wasn't Ty Law involved in that game?
- 1:50:11Speaker 1: I don't know. Was that that was against Michigan?
- 1:50:13Speaker 2: Yeah, ninety four I think he was, and then he
- 1:50:18Speaker 2: got drafted here in ninety five. Yeah, I think, I think,
- 1:50:23Speaker 2: If I'm not incorrect, I.
- 1:50:24Speaker 1: Barely know what happened in college football last year.
- 1:50:27Speaker 2: Tellen what Wisconsin wants to know. Like everybody else, it seems,
- 1:50:33Speaker 2: when will this team get new permanent uniforms? Adopting the
- 1:50:37Speaker 2: color rush as lazy? The Patriots currently have one of
- 1:50:40Speaker 2: the worst uniforms in the league. The team deserves something good.
- 1:50:44Speaker 2: Put Alex in charge. I would certainly trust her decisions.
- 1:50:49Speaker 3: I appreciate that.
- 1:50:50Speaker 2: Like when did like this thing start that the Patriots
- 1:50:53Speaker 2: uniforms were so bad? Now I get the blueberry. I
- 1:50:56Speaker 2: don't like the whole blue on blue. I never liked
- 1:50:58Speaker 2: that from day one, But I don't mind the blue
- 1:51:02Speaker 2: one on gray.
- 1:51:03Speaker 1: Me neither all dirty pants Now I like those uniforms.
- 1:51:06Speaker 1: I think that should you know, you could update those
- 1:51:09Speaker 1: a little bit? Maybe, But do people call in and
- 1:51:10Speaker 1: complain about the uniforms before they made that switch to
- 1:51:12Speaker 1: the people complain about the the uniforms they were winning.
- 1:51:18Speaker 3: Dynasty era.
- 1:51:19Speaker 1: I love those uniforms.
- 1:51:21Speaker 3: I feel like so much of it has to do
- 1:51:22Speaker 3: with the performance.
- 1:51:23Speaker 1: But that's what it is, right, Like that's when people
- 1:51:26Speaker 1: like to me, if they came out in those uniforms
- 1:51:29Speaker 1: like first game of the season, unbeknownst to anybody, I
- 1:51:32Speaker 1: would be so jacked up because all of a sudden,
- 1:51:34Speaker 1: it's like the real Patriots are back.
- 1:51:36Speaker 8: You know.
- 1:51:38Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't know if I'm going to get that.
- 1:51:39Speaker 4: But noway year increment where you're allowed to change them.
- 1:51:43Speaker 1: I don't know, I don't know, but you have the
- 1:51:46Speaker 1: Rivalry uniform no where that wear that one game this year.
- 1:51:49Speaker 2: I think you'll almost have to give like a five
- 1:51:51Speaker 2: year notice or something like that because the supply chain,
- 1:51:54Speaker 2: and you know, because Nike who makes all you know,
- 1:51:57Speaker 2: they invest a lot in making these uniforms and they
- 1:52:01Speaker 2: have to have some warning that, okay, we need to
- 1:52:05Speaker 2: run out on this inventory before we start a new one.
- 1:52:09Speaker 2: And then you don't want to give people too much
- 1:52:11Speaker 2: of a heads up that oh we're gonna have new uniforms,
- 1:52:13Speaker 2: because then they'll stop buying the current one. So it
- 1:52:16Speaker 2: always comes down to money, folks. Always comes down to money.
- 1:52:20Speaker 1: The rule of life. But like it bugs me when
- 1:52:22Speaker 1: somebody's like, I forget which player was just got a
- 1:52:24Speaker 1: Tom brad It was a brown front. It might have
- 1:52:27Speaker 1: been got a Tom Brady jersey that got sent to him,
- 1:52:31Speaker 1: but it's like the current one and like he wore
- 1:52:32Speaker 1: that in the Thursday Night games and in twenty nineteen,
- 1:52:36Speaker 1: it's not the Tom Brady jersey like the one he
- 1:52:39Speaker 1: won Super Bowls, and like that's the one to get.
- 1:52:42Speaker 2: But like you said, it would be cool if, like whatever,
- 1:52:44Speaker 2: the team kept it completely under wraps and then I mean,
- 1:52:50Speaker 2: you know, Opening Night support, they ran out in these
- 1:52:53Speaker 2: completely different uniforms. People's heads would explode, you know, that's
- 1:52:57Speaker 2: for sure. But they don't. They could never do that
- 1:53:00Speaker 2: would lake out or they want to do you know,
- 1:53:03Speaker 2: the the unveil for you know, to get people to
- 1:53:07Speaker 2: buy it and all that. But it would be so
- 1:53:09Speaker 2: cool if they just ran out in new uniforms and
- 1:53:11Speaker 2: no one had any idea.
- 1:53:13Speaker 4: Well, and when you're not building a HiPE for it
- 1:53:15Speaker 4: and it just happens, you'd think that might be Yeah.
- 1:53:18Speaker 3: Now it's like like the pop website would crack exactly.
- 1:53:22Speaker 1: Paul wouldn't even notice it.
- 1:53:23Speaker 2: People would freak.
- 1:53:24Speaker 1: Out, what are they wearing? What? What?
- 1:53:26Speaker 2: What? People would freak out?
- 1:53:27Speaker 1: And well, I will just assure everyone I am very
- 1:53:30Speaker 1: passionate about those uniforms. So when you're passionate about those uniforms,
- 1:53:34Speaker 1: I will continue to bang the drum for those because,
- 1:53:36Speaker 1: like I said, the forty nine Ers, the Packers, the Cowboys,
- 1:53:40Speaker 1: the NFL Dynasties, the Raiders, like those are their uniforms.
- 1:53:43Speaker 1: Those are the teams. Nobody in Green Bay is like
- 1:53:45Speaker 1: we got to get new uniforms. Everyone loves them because
- 1:53:47Speaker 1: that's what they are. So yeah, stick with class. You
- 1:53:49Speaker 1: want in keep the reds is the alternates love that.
- 1:53:52Speaker 1: I don't need those to be full time.
- 1:53:55Speaker 2: But people just like new. They just like new.
- 1:53:59Speaker 1: Not always, so we'll see, we'll see. People are really picky.
- 1:54:03Speaker 1: I mean, I like, you know, the reactions to the well,
- 1:54:06Speaker 1: there's me two divisions, the FC East and I think
- 1:54:07Speaker 1: the NFC West that are going to have the rivalry
- 1:54:10Speaker 1: uniforms this year. We'll see how those are.
- 1:54:13Speaker 2: This is how it always goes on the block. So
- 1:54:16Speaker 2: I'll write, Wow, Pop had a great catch comment where's
- 1:54:21Speaker 2: Eft and Chisholm, And Chisholm had a great catch where's
- 1:54:25Speaker 2: mac Hollis? You know, like it's always the next guy.
- 1:54:28Speaker 1: Yeah, now it's true. We love novelty for sure.
- 1:54:33Speaker 2: Let's see I wanted to talk about the rivalry jerseys.
- 1:54:39Speaker 1: Me too, Me too across the league because there's been
- 1:54:42Speaker 1: a lot of rumors going on, and I think the
- 1:54:43Speaker 1: teams all developed them independent of each other, so nobody
- 1:54:46Speaker 1: really knows what the other teams are doing. So it'll
- 1:54:49Speaker 1: be interesting to see with what they.
- 1:54:50Speaker 2: Come up with. Dan Wright, sin and Reno. His biggest
- 1:54:54Speaker 2: sports heartbreak was the eighty five Super Bowl loss to
- 1:54:57Speaker 2: the Bears. We had all the momentum going in and
- 1:54:59Speaker 2: we're promptly crushed. As a side note, cool Ranch Doritos
- 1:55:03Speaker 2: were introduced for the Super Bowl. It was the first
- 1:55:05Speaker 2: time in the fourteen year old me had them. I
- 1:55:09Speaker 2: have never trusted them since Cool Ranch Doritos in nineteen
- 1:55:13Speaker 2: eighty five.
- 1:55:14Speaker 1: Wow, really was that the second flavor? That must have
- 1:55:17Speaker 1: been the second flavor?
- 1:55:17Speaker 3: And now we just have the red bag the blue bag.
- 1:55:19Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, keep tracking. I wasn't crushed with the eighty
- 1:55:23Speaker 2: five First of all, I wasn't that big a Patriots
- 1:55:25Speaker 2: fan back then. I was a Bronco fan. But like,
- 1:55:30Speaker 2: they didn't have a chance from the from the get go.
- 1:55:32Speaker 2: I mean, they had the field goal.
- 1:55:35Speaker 1: But I've been living in this for the last they
- 1:55:38Speaker 1: got months after that field goal, it was all down
- 1:55:40Speaker 1: had but they had like Don Blackman had like an
- 1:55:42Speaker 1: interception go off his hands and look, Ultimately, nobody could
- 1:55:45Speaker 1: beat the Bears that year. And one of the players
- 1:55:47Speaker 1: I talked to said it felt like they had twenty
- 1:55:49Speaker 1: two guys on defense. Yeah, they had twenty two right,
- 1:55:52Speaker 1: So ultimately, at the time you didn't realize that you
- 1:55:54Speaker 1: were playing one of the all time great NFL teams.
- 1:55:58Speaker 2: But I to me, I had four quarters to prepare
- 1:56:01Speaker 2: myself that they were. This thing's over now.
- 1:56:03Speaker 1: They ran out of scheme for sure. But I talked
- 1:56:07Speaker 1: to Patrick Sullivan a couple of weeks ago, interviewed him
- 1:56:10Speaker 1: for probably talked to him about forty five minutes. So
- 1:56:12Speaker 1: it was just awesome. I mean, this is the son
- 1:56:14Speaker 1: of the founder of the Patriots, and he's got a
- 1:56:17Speaker 1: great perspective on that season. He became the GM a
- 1:56:19Speaker 1: couple of years earlier. So yeah, it's it's fine. I
- 1:56:23Speaker 1: gotten to know that season so much better now. It's interesting.
- 1:56:27Speaker 2: Ryan and Burlington One Patriots question two off season questions. One,
- 1:56:32Speaker 2: are we underestimating how little or how low our depth
- 1:56:35Speaker 2: is at certain or key positions?
- 1:56:38Speaker 1: Well, I hope if you listen to the show, you
- 1:56:40Speaker 1: know that we aren't because I think we pointed that out.
- 1:56:42Speaker 2: But I think you can go to any team in
- 1:56:45Speaker 2: the NFL and ask the same question. It's hard to
- 1:56:47Speaker 2: have quality depth at too many positions. YEA, you know,
- 1:56:52Speaker 2: you can have it in a couple but to have
- 1:56:55Speaker 2: it throughout your team is really tough in the NFL.
- 1:56:57Speaker 1: Probably every year that you have you know, I think
- 1:57:00Speaker 1: I think twenty thirteen, the Patriots lost Vince will Fork
- 1:57:03Speaker 1: and I forget who the other big tackle next to
- 1:57:05Speaker 1: him were. They lost them like within like the same
- 1:57:07Speaker 1: week or two. Yeah, devastating. It just crushed.
- 1:57:10Speaker 2: I remember the year that Brady was down to his
- 1:57:12Speaker 2: fifth center. Yeah, you know, it was like the center
- 1:57:15Speaker 2: position just kept getting killed.
- 1:57:17Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, the quarterback is always its unique piece,
- 1:57:20Speaker 1: and any team loses their starting quarterback, it's going to change.
- 1:57:23Speaker 1: But Paul's pointed out Will Campbell's health, and you know,
- 1:57:26Speaker 1: if he goes down, your Varian low who's in your
- 1:57:28Speaker 1: back to where you're right back? It was I think Splaine,
- 1:57:31Speaker 1: I think Harold Landry, Yeah, some of those Celenity people.
- 1:57:35Speaker 1: But yeah, like look if one of the safeties went down,
- 1:57:38Speaker 1: you know, like, who are right, We'll kind of figure
- 1:57:39Speaker 1: it out. You don't want to lose Davis or Gonzalez,
- 1:57:42Speaker 1: but you have some depth there to try to.
- 1:57:44Speaker 2: Yeah, for a game or two, maybe you can figure
- 1:57:46Speaker 2: it out.
- 1:57:46Speaker 1: But but there's a handful of spots. Yeah, left tackle.
- 1:57:51Speaker 2: Off season questions. What's something another city in America has
- 1:57:55Speaker 2: that you wish Boston or perhaps you're a hometown would have.
- 1:57:59Speaker 3: Florida is bright Line? Florida is what the bright Line train? Oh,
- 1:58:04Speaker 3: it's fantastic. Okay, why don't we have that? Okays, it's terrible.
- 1:58:10Speaker 2: So your answer isn't nightlife?
- 1:58:13Speaker 3: No, I don't care about that.
- 1:58:14Speaker 2: You don't care about that anymore? Okay?
- 1:58:17Speaker 1: Yeah, maybe just like a better grid to get around
- 1:58:22Speaker 1: the city.
- 1:58:23Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:58:24Speaker 1: La was like once I get like, oh I get it,
- 1:58:26Speaker 1: I'm on Pico here, I'm gonna be a Piko.
- 1:58:28Speaker 2: There a million. Yeah, but you don't want the traffic
- 1:58:31Speaker 2: still drive around in Boston and I'm like, oh God,
- 1:58:33Speaker 2: where am I going? If you learn, like, it's not
- 1:58:37Speaker 2: that hard. You learned four or five of the major roads,
- 1:58:39Speaker 2: you'll never get lost.
- 1:58:40Speaker 3: Not that hard.
- 1:58:41Speaker 4: It's just the traffic that accumulates because it's I don't know.
- 1:58:46Speaker 4: But then you go into like Florida where it's I
- 1:58:49Speaker 4: feel like it's just strip mall traffic, late strip mall traffic.
- 1:58:52Speaker 3: That's so I don't know, good bar that makes.
- 1:58:54Speaker 1: Me appreciate good barbecue.
- 1:58:56Speaker 2: Uh. And this is a question for probably Alex's. I
- 1:58:59Speaker 2: haven't been there in yours. Is the seaport overrated?
- 1:59:03Speaker 4: So I feel like the seaport is just like a
- 1:59:06Speaker 4: propped up corporate neighborhood. It's just like restaurant. There's one
- 1:59:12Speaker 4: grocery store, it's a Trader Joe's, which to me isn't
- 1:59:15Speaker 4: like a real I love Trader Joe's, but it's not
- 1:59:17Speaker 4: like a real grocery store. And it's smallbody there so expensive.
- 1:59:24Speaker 3: It's a great question. I don't know. Oh they're so
- 1:59:28Speaker 3: rich exactly. And it's like who can afford to actually
- 1:59:32Speaker 3: live in those condos?
- 1:59:34Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 1:59:34Speaker 4: People do a lot of our players do, but I
- 1:59:36Speaker 4: don't know. I can't fathom it. So I'm like, who
- 1:59:38Speaker 4: are these people are?
- 1:59:39Speaker 2: So what about not a place to live but a
- 1:59:41Speaker 2: place to just go out.
- 1:59:43Speaker 3: I think it's cool to hang out.
- 1:59:44Speaker 4: I like the ocean, but but then I'm just like,
- 1:59:47Speaker 4: I miss when it was the whiskey priest there and
- 1:59:50Speaker 4: all those dives. And now it's just so built up
- 1:59:54Speaker 4: and so expensive and it's kind of hard to get
- 1:59:56Speaker 4: in and out of, Like you need a car, but
- 1:59:58Speaker 4: then where do you park the car?
- 2:00:00Speaker 3: Are it's so expensive? Yeah, well that's in Cambridge, I mean.
- 2:00:04Speaker 1: Where I live, and Sharon, we have the commuter rail
- 2:00:06Speaker 1: and which has changed my perspective because my where I
- 2:00:08Speaker 1: grew up it was impossible to get the Boston. It's like, oh,
- 2:00:10Speaker 1: it's a nightmare. We didn't live, you know, we lived
- 2:00:12Speaker 1: in between the highways. So uh there there are some
- 2:00:14Speaker 1: select spots with good transit.
- 2:00:16Speaker 2: All right, that's going to be it for this edition
- 2:00:17Speaker 2: of Patriots Unfiltered. If we one have a good weekend.
- 2:00:22Speaker 2: I don't know what the weather's going to be like,
- 2:00:23Speaker 2: but you know, we got to savor these summer weekends.
- 2:00:26Speaker 2: We'll see you next Tuesday. Hey, this is Deuce.
