- 0:06Speaker 1: Well, it's The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives Update Victoria.
- 0:13Speaker 1: It's here live in studio. Also joining us as our
- 0:16Speaker 1: good friend Stephanie, who's become a big fan of the
- 0:20Speaker 1: show and of Victoria's as well. And Stephanie follows the show.
- 0:24Speaker 1: Stephanie's also involved in the law and they're both smart people.
- 0:29Speaker 1: So why they watch the show?
- 0:30Speaker 2: I have no Well, now you get to listen in So,
- 0:34Speaker 2: so I've been recapping season three. I assume you watched
- 0:37Speaker 2: this all when it When did it come out the fall?
- 0:39Speaker 3: It was last year at some point.
- 0:41Speaker 4: Okay, I've already watched season four and I'm really really online. Okay,
- 0:45Speaker 4: so I see all of the the drama that's happening
- 0:48Speaker 4: on TikTok.
- 0:49Speaker 2: And like the fallout too from all the interesting thing.
- 0:52Speaker 2: Oh my gosh, we could talk about this for hours. Well,
- 0:54Speaker 2: all I want to like to check in with you
- 0:56Speaker 2: on a couple of things. So the episode I was
- 0:58Speaker 2: recapping for this week is episode nine from season three.
- 1:01Speaker 5: So we're almost down.
- 1:01Speaker 2: Season three and then we'll be into season four, and
- 1:04Speaker 2: then here we'll be more relevant because we'll be more
- 1:07Speaker 2: caught up. So they're in LA promoting season two and
- 1:12Speaker 2: So one thing I really, I actually really like about
- 1:14Speaker 2: this show is it the way it breaks the fourth
- 1:16Speaker 2: wall as far as you seeing all the promoting that
- 1:19Speaker 2: they do and what they have to do to be
- 1:20Speaker 2: influencers and what they're getting from this.
- 1:23Speaker 5: So the thing I.
- 1:25Speaker 2: Would like to hear well from Stephanie is the first
- 1:27Speaker 2: about what I called them all this fame going right
- 1:30Speaker 2: to their head because in this episode, they're so excited
- 1:33Speaker 2: to be in LA There's pictures of them everywhere, and
- 1:37Speaker 2: they're looking at themselves.
- 1:38Speaker 1: Now, this is before Taylor Frankie Paul has been selected
- 1:42Speaker 1: for the Bachelorette. Yes, or really I think she'd had
- 1:49Speaker 1: some charge brought up against her, but that's sort of
- 1:51Speaker 1: been that.
- 1:51Speaker 2: Yeah, there was the domestic violence charge of the first season,
- 1:54Speaker 2: and so she's technically on probation during this point for
- 1:58Speaker 2: that charge.
- 1:59Speaker 1: And we've only re a come to see the full
- 2:01Speaker 1: picture of what a horrible person she really is.
- 2:04Speaker 2: Yeah, you seem so, I I'm That's one of the
- 2:07Speaker 2: things I don't how much time I'm really struggling. I
- 2:10Speaker 2: really like Taylor, and I feel bad about the situation.
- 2:14Speaker 5: But first time I go to somebody.
- 2:15Speaker 2: Actually I don't like, but I changed my mind about
- 2:17Speaker 2: this episode as Whitney do. I have not cared for Whitney,
- 2:20Speaker 2: but this episode she was very self aware and reflective,
- 2:24Speaker 2: and I just don't know what you thought. First of all,
- 2:25Speaker 2: what you think about Whitney.
- 2:30Speaker 4: She has some very unlikable qualities about her, but I
- 2:33Speaker 4: also think that she's really savvy. She knows how to
- 2:37Speaker 4: turn it on and off for her purpose. So I
- 2:42Speaker 4: think you're going because I've watched all of season four
- 2:45Speaker 4: as well, this is kind of the turning point now
- 2:46Speaker 4: she's she's starting to see how the fans have turned
- 2:50Speaker 4: against her, and in order to be on Dancing with
- 2:52Speaker 4: the Stars with a lot of votes and a lot
- 2:56Speaker 4: of popularity, she knows she has to turn it around.
- 2:58Speaker 3: So yeah, I do think that's little bit manufactured.
- 3:01Speaker 5: I appreciate that, and that is what I like about
- 3:02Speaker 5: Taylor too.
- 3:03Speaker 2: Taylor knows how to turn it on and off as well,
- 3:05Speaker 2: and that's the reason why they are in charge of
- 3:08Speaker 2: mom talks.
- 3:08Speaker 1: So Taylor and Whitney go to Jimmy Kimmel.
- 3:11Speaker 2: Yeah, they do Jimmy Kimmel together, and they're so The
- 3:13Speaker 2: thing I did find amusing, like, oh, they're so clever
- 3:15Speaker 2: and funny because they're on Jimmy Kimmel. And then while
- 3:18Speaker 2: they're waiting in the green room, Whitney's like, let's be
- 3:21Speaker 2: funny and have a funny entrance, and so they take
- 3:23Speaker 2: these moments to rehearse them coming out to fight over
- 3:27Speaker 2: the seat next to Jimmy, and it is Whitney's idea,
- 3:30Speaker 2: like she really does know how to show up and perform,
- 3:33Speaker 2: and so does Taylor, and so they have their moment
- 3:36Speaker 2: on Jimmy Kimmel. And the picture I had after this
- 3:39Speaker 2: was I don't know if I put that one up.
- 3:40Speaker 2: Where they were, it was hard to get a good
- 3:41Speaker 2: picture of them, like it looks like they're wrestling. And
- 3:46Speaker 2: I will also say it was very difficult to get
- 3:48Speaker 2: a good picture of this because Taylor Frankie Paul does
- 3:51Speaker 2: not have all of her undergarments on, and they had
- 3:54Speaker 2: to blur out a lot in this scene, and I
- 3:57Speaker 2: did not want anyone to think I was trying to
- 4:00Speaker 2: share that as well. But then the other thing, going
- 4:03Speaker 2: back to Whitney's understanding of where they're at with their business,
- 4:07Speaker 2: I think the next picture is them standing in front
- 4:09Speaker 2: of pictures of themselves is Whitney's totally beguiled and excited
- 4:12Speaker 2: about being in LA and says we could be the
- 4:13Speaker 2: Spice Girls like she's and she and she's thinking, and
- 4:17Speaker 2: what she says on the show is she wants to
- 4:19Speaker 2: rally the girls and the women to like get into
- 4:22Speaker 2: basically like show attitude and to and again. And I
- 4:26Speaker 2: was really impressed and because with this throughout the show,
- 4:29Speaker 2: with her self awareness and trying to get them together,
- 4:31Speaker 2: and she does want to bring mom talk back.
- 4:33Speaker 5: And then the other thing, well, we'll jump around. I
- 4:37Speaker 5: want to touch base on.
- 4:38Speaker 1: Is this so you you mentioned mom talk and you
- 4:42Speaker 1: talk about that all the time. Yeah, but there's also
- 4:44Speaker 1: something called dad talk dad And I'm wondering who and
- 4:49Speaker 1: the hell cares about that at all? And why do
- 4:52Speaker 1: they even show it? Why would we care about the
- 4:54Speaker 1: husbands me?
- 4:55Speaker 2: I will say that's one of the favorite things I
- 4:57Speaker 2: do like about the show because it is centered on
- 4:58Speaker 2: them all the all the men are described as so
- 5:01Speaker 2: and So's husbands, so and So's husband, right, and that's
- 5:03Speaker 2: the I mean, I'm fine with that, but they get
- 5:05Speaker 2: caught up in this fame as well, because when they're
- 5:08Speaker 2: in LA, these guys are fantasizing but getting to quit
- 5:11Speaker 2: their jobs and buying big houses.
- 5:13Speaker 5: And they're like, we're going to homeschool together. I'm going
- 5:15Speaker 5: to stay home totally.
- 5:20Speaker 2: And so we have this ongoing drama with Taylor and
- 5:23Speaker 2: Dakota that's gonna keep bubbling up. There's this information that
- 5:26Speaker 2: he shared that there was some sort of and I
- 5:28Speaker 2: don't know if this is explored more at the end
- 5:30Speaker 2: of the season into four season about the inappropriateness of
- 5:32Speaker 2: this relationship he had with basically a family friend of
- 5:35Speaker 2: Taylor's and so and so in jumping around, I posted
- 5:39Speaker 2: a picture because they she and her mom call this person,
- 5:42Speaker 2: and this person clearly does not want to be on
- 5:44Speaker 2: the show because every time they say her name, they
- 5:45Speaker 2: bleep it. And then when they talk to her, they
- 5:48Speaker 2: put her on speakerphone. It says voice what did it say?
- 5:51Speaker 2: Voice was altered so that they could talk to this person.
- 5:54Speaker 2: And she's denying. And I love Taylor's space in this
- 5:56Speaker 2: as well. Is she's denying that she did anything but Dakota.
- 6:00Speaker 2: But you we can see, like the I think we
- 6:02Speaker 2: can see like the ongoing struggle that Taylor has with
- 6:05Speaker 2: Dakota uh and their relationship, and that she really does
- 6:09Speaker 2: I think care for him or like his attention or something,
- 6:12Speaker 2: and then he keeps cheating on her, which has been
- 6:14Speaker 2: the challenge.
- 6:15Speaker 1: Great great people.
- 6:18Speaker 5: And they have a baby.
- 6:20Speaker 1: Somebody, somebody pointed out that Taylor Frankie Paul cannot be
- 6:23Speaker 1: on this show anymore because she's no longer a Mormon,
- 6:26Speaker 1: she's no longer a wife, and she has no secrets
- 6:29Speaker 1: anymore either.
- 6:30Speaker 4: Yeah, that is kind of Yeah, I'm sole reason for
- 6:34Speaker 4: the show, though. I mean, you cannot you can cannot
- 6:37Speaker 4: deny her that she started the whole thing with the
- 6:39Speaker 4: swinger scandal.
- 6:40Speaker 3: Yep, she's the one. So without her, it wouldn't really exist.
- 6:45Speaker 1: I think it's going to not exist. That's that's my prediction.
- 6:49Speaker 5: I don't know. Oh, I love the optimism you have
- 6:51Speaker 5: for humanity.
- 6:52Speaker 1: I think I think that I think that at some
- 6:54Speaker 1: point that it's that they'll say, look, we can't have
- 6:57Speaker 1: her on.
- 6:58Speaker 5: This, but the show will keep going, I.
- 7:02Speaker 1: Guess, but it will die too much money on the time.
- 7:05Speaker 3: Yeah, I think we're sucked in.
- 7:06Speaker 4: I think everyone, well not everyone, many people are invested
- 7:11Speaker 4: and that's exactly the hook that they've been trying to get.
- 7:13Speaker 3: And it's such a phenomenon.
- 7:15Speaker 4: I don't I don't see Disney saying goodbye to it's
- 7:19Speaker 4: a lot of money.
- 7:20Speaker 1: But they will say goodbye to her.
- 7:21Speaker 2: Honestly, I don't know, because I think the nature of her,
- 7:25Speaker 2: the offense, the criminal activity she is in, it is
- 7:28Speaker 2: limited to their circle. And I think it was very
- 7:31Speaker 2: interesting about how when all this came out that no one,
- 7:35Speaker 2: neither Hulu nor Disney took us a really hard stand immediately.
- 7:38Speaker 2: They waited and waited and waited, and then there was
- 7:41Speaker 2: outcry about values, and this isn't about values.
- 7:44Speaker 5: It is about the money. And so I think they're
- 7:46Speaker 5: trying to walk this line.
- 7:47Speaker 2: Of what are we Are we exploiting are we endorsing
- 7:51Speaker 2: this behavior? And they might be able to talk themselves
- 7:54Speaker 2: into there's a way to still include her, but I
- 7:57Speaker 2: think it'll be up to the other women. And actually,
- 7:58Speaker 2: the other thing I'll add to is this past season,
- 8:00Speaker 2: the fact that Demi and Whitney were on the outs
- 8:02Speaker 2: and they're still being including the show shows that they
- 8:05Speaker 2: know and Whitney says this in the show, they know
- 8:07Speaker 2: how to keep everybody in the orbit because it's what
- 8:10Speaker 2: people will follow, and so they might figure out a
- 8:12Speaker 2: way to keep all of this in the orbit. Of
- 8:14Speaker 2: the show because because I don't know, she's different, Like
- 8:17Speaker 2: I compared to the jen Shaw thing right where Jenshaw
- 8:20Speaker 2: had these victims that she was exploiting, and that it's
- 8:22Speaker 2: different from the nature.
- 8:23Speaker 5: Of what Taylor.
- 8:25Speaker 1: Kid got hit in the head with a chair and.
- 8:27Speaker 5: I could not did you watch the video? I couldn't
- 8:30Speaker 5: do it. I just read the description.
- 8:32Speaker 4: But also to keep in mind that reality TV loves
- 8:34Speaker 4: a redemption arc. Oh so they I see a big
- 8:40Speaker 4: old so they the script it up, push for that.
- 8:43Speaker 1: You know, there's money.
- 8:45Speaker 4: She'll redeem herself, She'll do the things that are necessary,
- 8:49Speaker 4: and it will be a very storyline.
- 8:52Speaker 2: I don't think, and I think and I think Taylor
- 8:56Speaker 2: would be good at it. She's she's done. She look
- 8:59Speaker 2: what she did with the Swing scandal. She I mean
- 9:01Speaker 2: she redeemed herself from that. And then to your point
- 9:04Speaker 2: about Whitney redeeming herself this season, like these two bitches
- 9:07Speaker 2: know what they're doing and so like they're gonna get
- 9:09Speaker 2: they're gonna get it done. And if and if Ulu
- 9:11Speaker 2: and Disney are on board with it anyway.
- 9:14Speaker 1: Right, well, now, what's the drinking game?
- 9:16Speaker 2: Oh, it's what every time that Whitney has these self
- 9:21Speaker 2: aware moments.
- 9:22Speaker 5: I count at least four to ten.
- 9:24Speaker 2: I'm just really impressed with her acknowledging where she's a
- 9:26Speaker 2: hypocrite and the insight she has about the other women
- 9:29Speaker 2: to help make them successful.
- 9:30Speaker 1: All right, all right, there you go, Live Live Victoria
- 9:33Speaker 1: with her Secret Lives of Mormon Wives update and Stephanie,
- 9:38Speaker 1: thanks for coming down to and we will we'll talk
- 9:41Speaker 1: to you on the phone next time.
