  drivers who pulled over to help noticed beer cans all over the

  crash site. Bill also discovered beer cans

  in the cab of Pearson's truck. It was about this time that

  LeBeau said Kinison started talking towards the sky.

  He said. The Kinnison was clear,

  coherent, and softly said I don't want to die, I don't want

  to die. Then Kinison paused, as if he
• 1:06
  was listening to the person he was talking to.

  But why? Kinison asked, followed by

  another pause. Then he said O K0K, 0K.

  As Lebove held Kinison's head in his hands, he recalls that his

  last OK was soft, almost like a whisper.

  Then at 8:31 PM, as paramedics were rushing to the scene,

  Kinison's body relaxed and he took his last breath.

  At 38 years old, the former Pentecostal tent preachers final

  conversation was with God. Ironic considering how the

  comedian railed against religion for the entirety of his career,
• 1:45
  although he had already passed the first ambulance on the scene
• 1:48
  rushed Kinnison to the Colorado River Medical Center in Needles,
• 1:51
  about 6 miles from the crash site, while mouthtomouth
• 1:54
  resuscitation was performed on Kinnison at the crash site and
• 1:57
  on the way to the hospital. The comedian's passing was

  pronounced at 8:31 PM. Malika, who was taken to the
• 2:03
  same hospital in a separate ambulance, was able to leave two
• 2:07
  days later, but Kinnison's body stayed behind for an autopsy and

  Lebov was correct. Although Kinnison looked Okay

  immediately after the crash, his body had sustained incredible
• 2:18
  internal trauma. Deputy Coroner Gabriel Morales

  said that the comedian suffered multiple traumatic injuries to

  the chest cavity. Troy Pearson, who sustained
• 2:32
  moderate injuries in the crash, didn't have much of a trial, but
• 2:35
  that's only because he was a minor.

  In a brief court appearance, a judge sentenced the teen with
• 2:41
  felony vehicular manslaughter with gross negligence.

  The charge came with a year of probation, a twoyear suspended
• 2:48
  driver's license, and 300 hours of community service.

  Pearson was released to the custody of his parents, and that
• 2:55
  was it. In addition to his outrage over
• 2:58
  the slap on Pearson's wrist for killing his brother, Bill

  Kinnison was livid over Pearson's brief court

  appearance. At no time did I see any

  remorse, but there's nothing we can do about it now.

  A year after his death in 1993, Kinnison was as popular as he

  was at his late 80s peak. His fourth and final comedy

  album, Live From Hell, was released, a great critical

  acclaim. It even won that year's Grammy

  Award for Best Spoken Comedy Album against The Jerky Boys,

  The Jerky Boys Two and Adam Sandler's They're All Going to

  Laugh At You. Bill also kept his brother's

  memory alive with Brother Sam, The Short Spectacular Life of

  Sam Kinison, the 1994 biography about the comedian.

  The movie rights to the book were purchased by fan and friend

  Howard Stern, and at one point HBO was talking about producing

  it. With Kinnison being played by

  Dan Fogler, Kinnison's memory seems to be stuck in a holding

  pattern now. The Brother Sam movie never got
• 3:55
  past the script stage in the 2017 biopic I Am Sam Kinnison.

  While sourcing much of Bill's book didn't feel like a proper

  send off. In a recent interview, Bill

  mentioned movie deals that were in development at the time of

  his death. One such deal was a movie with

  Arnold Schwarzenegger and another with Rick Moranis.

  It's easy to imagine what direction Kinnison would have

  taken had he avoided his fatal accident in the desert and
• 4:19
  continued his newfound upward trajectory, leading roles in
• 4:23
  motion pictures, arena tours, a family, and imagine how Kinnison

  would have approached today's fevered political climate.

  Christian Pentecostal, and then he went on to make riches and

  get into movies and do all kinds of things.

  Whenever he walked away from Christianity, there was a lot of

  money on the table. There was a chance for him to
• 5:09
  have a family. But as many who watched his
• 5:14
  comedic shows, which I was one of those people who loved him
• 5:18
  and respected him and thought he was really funny even though he
• 5:21
  had a unusual past. He'd always made it clear that
• 5:26
  one of the things that was difficult for him or challenging
• 5:29
  for him in his life was he always found it challenging to
• 5:34
  find actual love. That was actually what most of
• 5:38
  his shows were about, getting into relationships and then
• 5:42
  finding out that they weren't good.

  He admitted and took accountability.

  That it was probably some of his own traits, some of his own
• 5:51
  behavior and all that. And also due to the fact that he
• 5:55
  had started getting into drugs and alcohol.

  Sadly, towards the end of his life he actually started

  straighten himself out. He started finding meaning and
• 6:05
  value in his life and he actually believed that there was
• 6:08
  a destiny that was set out for him.

  Unfortunately, some, even though Sam Kinison had made the choice
• 6:16
  to get away from drugs and alcohol.

  Some teenagers were driving and they were doing alcohol and they
• 6:25
  basically met each other at fate's end on a highway, Sadly,
• 6:32
  Sam Kinison and his wife, had they been wearing seatbelts,
• 6:36
  they would have probably been protected.
• 6:39
  Sam Kinison may have survived to this day.

  I always find it interesting. I have a lot of conversations
• 6:47
  with skeptics and nonbelievers, and it always turns out the same
• 6:53
  where the atheist will say things like why don't we see
• 6:58
  miracles nowadays? Why don't we?

  Why don't we hear or see God at any time?

  Why is it that whenever you read the Bible, it seems like there
• 7:08
  was all these interactions and experiences and all that?

  Well, I would recommend that atheist read something called

  Footprints in the Sand. I believe that even though Sam
• 7:19
  Kinison was having the challenges in his life that God
• 7:23
  was always with him. And it wasn't Sam Kinison's
• 7:27
  footprints in the sand, but it was actually the footprints of
• 7:31
  God. And God was carrying Sam
• 7:33
  Kinison. And I think that God waited
• 7:36
  until can Sam Kinison changed his life.

  And started doing for the good, for himself as well As for other
• 7:44
  people. And also Sam Kinison made
• 7:47
  mention that he was still very open to the concept of God.

  He just had a lot of questions. He had doubts.

  But it was. I don't think that anyone could
• 7:58
  argue that Sam Kinison didn't have a voice, that he didn't
• 8:02
  have authority. That whenever you watched him
• 8:05
  walk and present themselves, and even in his comedy, you could
• 8:08
  still sense that old preacher inside of him, that old man of
• 8:13
  God who had just been disgusted with some of the stuff that he
• 8:17
  was seeing in the world, things that he was disgusted whenever
• 8:21
  he seen the way people were internally.

  I think Sam Kinison's life is exceptional, extraordinary.

  And he was one of the greatest comedians of all times.

  He was one of those people that just simply didn't hold back.

  And it was also interesting, too.

  One of the things that he used to say is I'm not that guy that
• 8:43
  you should be listening to for advice or wisdom.

  I'm not that guy that, you know you expect to get the mysteries
• 8:51
  of the universe from. Yet, if you really listen to him
• 8:54
  and you really paid attention to him, you would realize he was
• 8:57
  being humble. He knew a lot of things.

  He knew a lot of things, and I think that even some of his
• 9:05
  stuff wasn't just comedy, but it was philosophy.

  A lot like George Carlin, which a lot of people were very

  surprised because they believe that George Carlin was also an
• 9:16
  atheist for all of his life because of some of the railment
• 9:21
  he did on religion. A lot of people don't know that
• 9:24
  one of George Carlin's last interviews he ever did was on
• 9:28
  The Larry King Show, which. By the way, I have a clip on

  Rumble as well as YouTube where he says no, I was never an
• 9:36
  atheist. I'm not an atheist.

  A lot of people find that surprising.

  A lot of your greatest bands and a lot of your greatest comedians

  out there believe in God. But like the music industry, for

  whatever reason, the music industry and these corporations,
• 9:55
  they don't like the idea or. The concept of people who
• 9:59
  endorse to support God. People like Jim Cabesel, his

  sound, as well as Tim Allen and many conservative Christians who
• 10:08
  were very popular at one point in time.

  The moment they started pushing their ideas about God and
• 10:14
  religion and their faith. Kevin Sorbo is a perfect example
• 10:18
  to the guy who originally played Hercules.

  That you could lose your job and lose opportunities to simply for
• 10:25
  accepting God and wanting to preach about it every once in a
• 10:28
  while. So you kind of have to.

  Whenever it comes to Hollywood, whether you're a comedian, a
• 10:35
  musician or an actor, you kind of got to sell your soul or at
• 10:40
  least represent yourself as though you put God on the back
• 10:43
  burner. But I think it's pretty clear,

  ladies and gentlemen, as Sam Kennison lay there dying.

  That he had a close, strong relationship with God and he
• 10:54
  even said to God, I don't wish to die.

  I don't want to die. But God told him it's time.
