- 0:56SPEAKER_00: Welcome, welcome to this special bonus episode of the podcast all about unraveling, unraveling in a relationship, unraveling the relationship, unraveling all the things about life and love and connection.
- 1:14SPEAKER_00: When where you are, the relationship you're existing within the connection that you have with your partner, when where you are and what you have is not quite what you most desire, what you're deeply craving?
- 1:28SPEAKER_00: It's not quite, or maybe it's not even close, and you're asking all the questions.
- 1:34SPEAKER_00: It is time to unravel, to unpack, to really go deep and explore.
- 1:39SPEAKER_00: You know, maybe you're asking, can it ever be anything more?
- 1:42SPEAKER_00: Can this relationship that you're currently in be deeper, more passionate, stronger, more connected?
- 1:48SPEAKER_00: Or can it ever be what it once was back in the day?
- 1:51SPEAKER_00: Can you find your way back to one another, back to the connection you once shared?
- 1:56SPEAKER_00: Can you rekindle it and reignite the spark?
- 2:00SPEAKER_00: Or perhaps you're wondering, and this is a conversation that I've had repeatedly over the last kind of months, years, I suppose.
- 2:10SPEAKER_00: Perhaps you're wondering if there's enough space for you in this relationship.
- 2:15SPEAKER_00: You know, maybe you've grown and changed, and this relationship that you're in, that you're existing within no longer holds a space for you.
- 2:24SPEAKER_00: You feel like you don't fit here anymore.
- 2:27SPEAKER_00: And you know, maybe you never really did.
- 2:30SPEAKER_00: Maybe you made yourself smaller or less somehow to fit here.
- 2:36SPEAKER_00: You know, perhaps it's that you've become more, you've grown, you've changed, you've morphed, you have shifted and become something bigger, someone bigger, and you don't fit here anymore.
- 2:48SPEAKER_00: You feel like you don't fit or you don't belong.
- 2:50SPEAKER_00: And maybe it's really that you at some previous point you you chose, you settled, you accepted, you know, maybe you feared that that this is as good as it gets, um, that you'd never find or have or create anything that really fully allowed and fully saw, fully heard, fully held space for all of you.
- 3:13SPEAKER_00: And maybe now is your time.
- 3:16SPEAKER_00: Maybe you're done with settling and fitting in and you're ready to bring all of you.
- 3:21SPEAKER_00: You know, you're really, really ready to show up as the whole complete version of you and bring all of that to your relationship, and you want a relationship that will hold enough space for the whole lot of woman you are, all of you.
- 3:36SPEAKER_00: Um, maybe for some of you it's really your partner who's feeling unsettled or unhappy in the relationship and is seeking a change or suggesting that it's time to move in different directions, maybe to separate, maybe it is your partner rather than you who wants to dissolve your marriage or your relationship.
- 3:55SPEAKER_00: So where you are, if where you are isn't for whatever or for all of the reasons, if where you are is not lighting you up, it is a time and an invitation to unpack and unravel it.
- 4:09SPEAKER_00: And when it comes to unpacking, questioning, second guessing your relationship, there is so much white noise, so much noise, so much confusion, so much overwhelm.
- 4:20SPEAKER_00: And I know that if you're in this space, I know from having been there personally, myself, but also coaching others through it.
- 4:28SPEAKER_00: I know if you're in that space, in that tender season of noise and overwhelm and confusion, that there's so much taking up space in your heart, in your mind, and even in your body.
- 4:39SPEAKER_00: You're holding so much, and it can actually make you feel paralysed.
- 4:44SPEAKER_00: Yep, like the deer in the headlights, paralyzed in and trapped by indecision, by the inability to even start to look at all of what's coming up for you, all the all of that you're holding in your heart, in your mind, and in your body.
- 5:00SPEAKER_00: You don't even know where to start.
- 5:02SPEAKER_00: You're loaded with that deep desire to be free of all of that stuff taking up space and creating the noise, but it's really, really difficult to see anything clearly.
- 5:14SPEAKER_00: It's really difficult to pull it all apart, let alone make solid, well-reasoned, objective, sensible decisions that are the will, they're life-changing.
- 5:25SPEAKER_00: These life-changing decisions that you're trying to make in the midst of all the noise and all the overwhelm.
- 5:32SPEAKER_00: And so if you don't know where to start, let's start here.
- 5:37SPEAKER_00: Let's start with some tenderness, let's start with some self-compassion, let's start with being really gentle with ourselves, with yourself, and going quiet.
- 5:50SPEAKER_00: Let's start even by stopping, stripping back and stripping out all of the noise and going quiet.
- 6:01SPEAKER_00: So if you really don't know where to start, just start with a breath.
- 6:06SPEAKER_00: Start with a pause.
- 6:09SPEAKER_00: Start with a moment, just a moment that's for you, only for you.
- 6:14SPEAKER_00: Start with a breath.
- 6:16SPEAKER_00: Because to admit to yourself that your relationship is really not what you want, to admit that even to yourself is really, really scary.
- 6:26SPEAKER_00: But I want you to know something.
- 6:28SPEAKER_00: I want you to know that just because you crave more, just because you want change, just because you know on that deep soul intuitive level, just because you know that there's a deeper, more connected, richer, more passionate way of being in relationship, it doesn't mean you have to burn everything down.
- 6:48SPEAKER_00: It doesn't mean you have to burn everything down or blow it all up.
- 6:53SPEAKER_00: Craving more, more depth, more connection, more passion, more insert your word here, whatever.
- 7:00SPEAKER_00: Unpacking your relationship, asking the really big questions, having the hard conversations, deeply desiring change, even dismantling a relationship or a marriage, leaving an unhappy or an unhealthy marriage and choosing a new part really doesn't mean you have to burn it all down.
- 7:20SPEAKER_00: I'm gonna say that again.
- 7:22SPEAKER_00: It doesn't mean you have to burn it all down.
- 7:27SPEAKER_00: Rather than it being this raging inferno of destruction, it really can be a gentle, compassionate, deeply self-honouring and self self-loving process of unpacking, of unraveling, of pulling things apart with kindness and love and compassion to see what's underneath all the noise, all the confusion, all the overwhelm.
- 7:54SPEAKER_00: And I also know that it sort of feels a bit like that that kids' game of Jenga, where if you know, if you nudge or tug or pull at just one piece of that massively overwhelming, confusing stack of stuff that you're holding, it'll all come tumbling down around you.
- 8:13SPEAKER_00: But you know, if you dare to tug at just one of those loose threads of your life, of your relationship, just one thread will unravel the whole lot into a crazy, you know, crazy mess at your feet.
- 8:26SPEAKER_00: But unraveling can be done really gently and consciously, bit by bit, step by step.
- 8:34SPEAKER_00: It doesn't have to be that unraveling that leaves you that leaves you just with a mess at your feet.
- 8:42SPEAKER_00: Unraveling by definition is to undo, to untangle, to clarify elements.
- 8:49SPEAKER_00: It's also about investigating, solving, or explaining and freeing things from complication or difficulty.
- 8:56SPEAKER_00: And it's about resolution, it's about resolving the intricacy or complexity or obscurity, confusion, confusion-y of something.
- 9:09SPEAKER_00: It is pulling things apart, it's pulling something apart that's complex complex, complex and confusing and overwhelming, but it's pulling it apart to clarify the elements, to bring to light, to raise up and examine the parts and the pieces in order to resolve it, in order to find a resolution and a way forward.
- 9:32SPEAKER_00: And resolution is the key point here.
- 9:35SPEAKER_00: Not the pulling apart, not the teasing out, not the unraveling or the breaking down.
- 9:42SPEAKER_00: It's the resolution that's key.
- 9:44SPEAKER_00: And it's the resolution I want you to focus on.
- 9:47SPEAKER_00: So if you are craving more, I also want you to know there's nothing wrong with you.
- 9:54SPEAKER_00: There is nothing wrong with craving and claiming all that you desire in your relationship and in your life.
- 10:01SPEAKER_00: Because you deserve all of whatever it is you are desiring in your relationship.
- 10:06SPEAKER_00: Just because you crave more, just because you want change, just because you know there is that deeper way, that deeper, more connected, richer way of being in relationship with another human, it doesn't mean you have to burn it all down.
- 10:20SPEAKER_00: You can lead with curiosity, you can lead with compassion and take all the time you need to unravel and unpack and explore what you most need before you even take a step.
- 10:32SPEAKER_00: Unraveling can be a slow, gentle exploration.
- 10:36SPEAKER_00: As I said, taking all the time you need to really unpack and explore all the things that you most want to before you even think about taking a step or doing anything at all.
- 10:49SPEAKER_00: Unraveling doesn't have to mean, well, it doesn't mean that you're going to blow things up, and it doesn't have to mean that you change anything.
- 10:58SPEAKER_00: It's an exploration, but it leads you towards resolution.
- 11:02SPEAKER_00: So it's not about it's not about you blowing everything up unless you're really ready to, and it's not about you needing to know definitively, absolutely 100% what's next for you.
- 11:14SPEAKER_00: It's not about you knowing or having all the answers right now, it's just about exploration, bringing things to the surface, teasing them out so you can see what's there for you, you can see what the issues are, you can see what your concerns are, and you can also see what what's real and what's imagined, what's fear-based and what's real.
- 11:39SPEAKER_00: Because I know all of this probably feels pretty scary.
- 11:43SPEAKER_00: And when you think about unraveling a relationship and then taking that step to dismantle or move out of one, it's really, really scary.
- 11:52SPEAKER_00: And and it brings up so many fears, you're worried about so many things, and there are blocks and barriers and fears that come up when you admit to yourself that you want something different.
- 12:05SPEAKER_00: Will your partner meet you if you invite them to step forward into change?
- 12:10SPEAKER_00: Will they want to do the work and share the work to create the change that you desire, to shift the relationship, to deepen your connection?
- 12:19SPEAKER_00: Will they meet you?
- 12:20SPEAKER_00: And there are real tangible practical fears like where you would choose where you would live if you choose separate lives, where you'll live and how you'll split what you own.
- 12:32SPEAKER_00: Money is a huge roadblock for so many, bringing up all the fears.
- 12:36SPEAKER_00: And some of these fears around money are real and some are less so.
- 12:41SPEAKER_00: How will you navigate a new way of funding life on a single income if you choose a separate, a separation or divorce?
- 12:49SPEAKER_00: And what does that mean for you?
- 12:50SPEAKER_00: Can you do it solo, financially and practically?
- 12:54SPEAKER_00: You know, these are real fears that come up, but is it about the money or is it about the financial impact on your kids and your lifestyle or your retirement?
- 13:03SPEAKER_00: For some older women, it's about how it's gonna, not even older women, it's gonna, it's about how a separation, divorce will impact retirement.
- 13:11SPEAKER_00: These are real, real tangible fears that deserve to be unraveled, unpacked, looked at, explored.
- 13:19SPEAKER_00: But some of the stories that we tell ourselves, even the ones about money, are just that.
- 13:24SPEAKER_00: So unraveling and unpacking can can help you look at those and look at which are the ones that maybe are story and they're not really true.
- 13:35SPEAKER_00: So maybe look at, maybe looking at, if we're talking about money, maybe looking at how you can up-level up skill and lean into creating a financial life for yourself inside the relationship, which can then alleviate some of the stress.
- 13:49SPEAKER_00: Grabbing hold of and um empowering yourself financially within a relationship can alleviate the fear and it also gives you freedom, it gives you choice, it gives you agency.
- 14:03SPEAKER_00: So unraveling, unpacking what it is that comes up for you can actually enable resolution, even within the relationship.
- 14:13SPEAKER_00: Another big fear barrier block that comes up, of course, is if you have children, how unraveling a relationship will affect them, how how it will affect them if you choose separate lives, separation, divorce, and how it will affect them if you stay.
- 14:31SPEAKER_00: How will you manage as a single parent or co-parents?
- 14:35SPEAKER_00: How will you manage what do you teach them if you choose to stay?
- 14:40SPEAKER_00: And then there are other less tangible but still very real fears.
- 14:45SPEAKER_00: There are fears around what your family might say, will they support and back you?
- 14:51SPEAKER_00: Worrying there might be backlash or fallout, worrying about loss of other relationships and connections, friends, family, extended family, will other connections, relationships, friendships shift and change?
- 15:03SPEAKER_00: The answer to that is yes, they will, but how you don't know.
- 15:08SPEAKER_00: Something else I hear a lot is that you know, he or it is not bad in inverted commas.
- 15:15SPEAKER_00: You know, it's not a bad relationship.
- 15:16SPEAKER_00: He's a really nice guy.
- 15:18SPEAKER_00: So perhaps one of your fears is that you're afraid that no one will understand.
- 15:23SPEAKER_00: No one will understand or be able to see that there is no room, like we like I spoke about earlier, there's no room for you in this relationship.
- 15:29SPEAKER_00: That while it's not bad, it's not for you.
- 15:33SPEAKER_00: It's not a healthy space for you, it doesn't hold space for you.
- 15:38SPEAKER_00: That's a very real fear that no one will understand you leaving a nice guy.
- 15:44SPEAKER_00: Saying, I don't know what to do, that lack of direction, that indecision, that inability to make a choice can actually also be a fear.
- 15:52SPEAKER_00: Just diff just dressed in a different kind of cloak.
- 15:56SPEAKER_00: It might be fear of being alone, being not never loved again or never in another relationship, fear of just just flat out fear of what you don't know, fear of what's coming, fear of the unknown, what's next, fear of being single, fear of those financial impacts we talked about, fear of the social implications of making a choice, fear about whether you'll regret leaving, and fear that you'll regret staying.
- 16:24SPEAKER_00: Fear of staying and being resentful.
- 16:27SPEAKER_00: So not knowing what to do, sitting in indecision is actually based in fear, rooted in fear.
- 16:35SPEAKER_00: And underlying all of that oftentimes is a need to really control and to hold tightly to everything, to know all the answers now.
- 16:43SPEAKER_00: That's fear too.
- 16:45SPEAKER_00: Holding tight, feeling the need to control your relationship, your partner, even the way you're separating if you if you're at that point, feeling the need to hold tightly to the reins of control is fear, is fear-based, it's based in fear.
- 17:00SPEAKER_00: So unraveling can also be an exploration of your fears.
- 17:04SPEAKER_00: What is it that you're afraid of?
- 17:06SPEAKER_00: What's your fear?
- 17:08SPEAKER_00: Is is it a need to control?
- 17:11SPEAKER_00: And underlying that is fear, and what is that fear trying to tell you?
- 17:17SPEAKER_00: What would or could or what might happen if you released yourself from this fear, from the need to control, from fear, from fear generally?
- 17:27SPEAKER_00: Um could something good happen?
- 17:29SPEAKER_00: If you released yourself from your fears, could something good good happen?
- 17:35SPEAKER_00: How would it feel for you to trade fear for trust?
- 17:38SPEAKER_00: And what what would it take?
- 17:40SPEAKER_00: What would it take for you to trade your fear for trust?
- 17:44SPEAKER_00: Trust in yourself, trust that you know your own answers, and trust that you will, regardless of what you decide, you will have your own back.
- 17:56SPEAKER_00: So strip out the stories, the fears, peel it all back, unravel it all for you to find your own truth.
- 18:05SPEAKER_00: Another part of that is letting go of the weight of expectation, releasing yourself from expectation by owning what you know is right for you, even if it means disappointing, surprising, or upsetting someone else.
- 18:21SPEAKER_00: Your mother-in-law, your grandma, your own mother.
- 18:24SPEAKER_00: Letting go of the weight of expectation by accepting that your story, your way, your way of being in relationship doesn't have to follow the script, doesn't have to fit a box, doesn't have to follow the script written by someone else.
- 18:39SPEAKER_00: And yes, it's hard to let go of something good or at least something that's not bad to go after something that's great.
- 18:49SPEAKER_00: And there is grief in that too.
- 18:50SPEAKER_00: There's grief in there's grief around letting go.
- 18:55SPEAKER_00: And that grief, that preemptive grief, uh, can be misunderstood.
- 19:01SPEAKER_00: We can misunderstand it in ourselves as a reason to stay.
- 19:05SPEAKER_00: The grief of what you're letting go, the grief of releasing from the fairy tale, happy ever after you thought you were choosing, can be misconstrued by us as a reason to stay.
- 19:17SPEAKER_00: So embrace the grief and loss to go after more, to step into the desire for more or different, truer, more authentic, real version of you, and therefore of your relationship.
- 19:29SPEAKER_00: Again, it doesn't mean you have to burn it all down.
- 19:32SPEAKER_00: You really don't have to burn it down.
- 19:35SPEAKER_00: Unraveling is brave, but unraveling is hard, and it really requires us it asks that we allow ourselves to be fully seen.
- 19:45SPEAKER_00: And even if at first that's only being fully seen by ourselves.
- 19:51SPEAKER_00: Unraveling is brave, and and it's also about permission.
- 19:56SPEAKER_00: It's firstly about giving yourself permission.
- 20:00SPEAKER_00: Permission to want more permission to crave, desire, want, seek more.
- 20:10SPEAKER_00: Permission to know that there is more.
- 20:12SPEAKER_00: You know, that niggly question, is this all there is?
- 20:16SPEAKER_00: Is this as good as it gets?
- 20:17SPEAKER_00: If you're asking that, you know.
- 20:19SPEAKER_00: You know there's more.
- 20:20SPEAKER_00: So give yourself permission to know and want and claim more.
- 20:26SPEAKER_00: Give yourself permission to look at all those things that have been taking up that space in your heart, in your head, in your body, in your life, in your relationship.
- 20:35SPEAKER_00: To really gently and carefully and lovingly pull it all apart, to bring the stuff to the surface that you've been holding and pushing down and repressing and not wanting to look at, to unravel it all with the view to resolution.
- 20:52SPEAKER_00: Unravel it not to break it, but unravel it to find a way forward.
- 20:58SPEAKER_00: So if there are questions you're asking on repeat, or even just a vague feeling of disconnect, discontent, if you're feeling like you're moving through your life and your relationship on autopilot, you're living with a knot or butterflies or a lump of concrete in your stomach, if you feel on some level tormented by all those things taking up space, and if if you feel that nudge or you can hear a whisper, or maybe for you it's like a full-on roar, it is probably time to lift those things up to the surface, to unravel for yourself, to tease them all apart, gently pull them apart, and to look at look at what's coming up for you, unravel it.
- 21:49SPEAKER_00: So these whispers, the soul nudges, the hints from your intuition, it is a real a gentle invitation to explore, to unpack, to sift.
- 22:00SPEAKER_00: Through and and to find the safety and and certainty and surety in what is healthy and what is working for you to explore what you want more of and to identify and release what's not working for you because there's magic in that mess, there's magic in the messy middle part.
- 22:19SPEAKER_00: So allowing things to be messy, allowing them to come up and unfold, leaning into that discomfort and accepting that you can't control everything is important here.
- 22:31SPEAKER_00: So soften, surrender, trust the process, go step by step.
- 22:36SPEAKER_00: You don't have to know all the answers to just take a step forward.
- 22:41SPEAKER_00: It is perfectly okay to pick things apart, to unravel them, and not do anything with all of that right now.
- 22:50SPEAKER_00: Unraveling or exposing or holding up to the light, the stuff, raising your awareness or bringing to the surface all the things doesn't mean you have to break down, destroy, split your relationship.
- 23:05SPEAKER_00: Doesn't mean you have to do anything beyond what you're just ready and willing and open to doing now.
- 23:11SPEAKER_00: It doesn't mean doing anything you're not ready for or taking any steps beyond what you're able to.
- 23:20SPEAKER_00: So unraveling is about resolution, yes, but it's also about accepting being in that messy middle part, allowing that, and knowing that the doing bit only comes when you're ready and when it feels okay for you.
- 23:36SPEAKER_00: And I know you wouldn't be here, you wouldn't be listening if you weren't ready to do something, to do one small thing, take one tentative, gentle step.
- 23:50SPEAKER_00: You wouldn't be here, you wouldn't be listening if you weren't at least ready to start the process, at least start moving towards deeper awareness and deeper understanding to at least start unraveling that grinding knot in your stomach.
- 24:07SPEAKER_00: To start unraveling the heaviest-led emotions in your heart and release those repetitive, anxious, rolling thoughts in your head to start exploring and unraveling and uns understanding past hurts, past wounds, past patterns of life and relationship, and start unpacking the conflicting, the conflicting stuff, the thoughts, emotions, the dis-ease, the discomfort, the discontent.
- 24:32SPEAKER_00: So if that's you, what's one small step that you can take towards unraveling all that?
- 24:43SPEAKER_00: Unraveling so that it becomes clearer.
- 24:46SPEAKER_00: Unraveling so that all of the pieces are seen, are visible, they're heard, they're felt, they're acknowledged, they're allowed, all the pieces are there.
- 24:56SPEAKER_00: Unraveling so you can see and know and then understand what's going on.
- 25:01SPEAKER_00: So you can look with clarity and compassion and decide what, if anything, you're going to do.
- 25:10SPEAKER_00: Unraveling allows you the space and clarity to look at possibilities beyond your current reality.
- 25:19SPEAKER_00: Allowing allowing unraveling allows you the space to look at possibilities beyond your current reality.
- 25:29SPEAKER_00: It's about coming back to your power, coming back to yourself, coming home to yourself, leaning into self-trust and self-belief so you can reclaim what you most want for yourself.
- 25:41SPEAKER_00: You can make empowered choices.
- 25:44SPEAKER_00: It's about finding your own way and your own answer to how you can deepen your self-trust, solidify your choice, and create create safety, create the knowing and create that love that you're really seeking, regardless of whether you're staying in this relationship or transitioning out.
- 26:01SPEAKER_00: Whether you choose to say to stay or leave, it's about how can you create us answering the question for yourself, how can you create the love you most want?
- 26:12SPEAKER_00: Knowing that all of that, it all starts and ends with you.
- 26:19SPEAKER_00: It's not about burning down, it is about pulling apart, but it's about doing that gently with love and care to find a new way forward, to make empowered, loving, self-honouring choices.
- 26:32SPEAKER_00: And a quote that I want to finish with is sometimes things that break your heart end up fixing your vision.
- 26:39SPEAKER_00: Sometimes things that break your heart end up fixing your vision.
- 26:44SPEAKER_00: Hold that quote in your in your heart, in your mind, as you contemplate your own unraveling.
- 26:51SPEAKER_00: And if you would like to deepen or continue this conversation, please book a call with me.

- 27:44SPEAKER_00: Sitting in this space of not knowing what to do, sitting in this space where you're asking all the big, deep, hard questions of your relationship is a really tender, lonely place to be.
