- 0:22SPEAKER_00: We writers love to create stories.
- 0:24SPEAKER_00: And why not?
- 0:25SPEAKER_00: There's something fun about creating a fantasy world, living in it for a while, and then inviting other people to join us there as readers.
- 0:33SPEAKER_00: And sometimes these fantasies bleed over into the real world where we don't quite live in reality.
- 0:39SPEAKER_00: For example, here's one of the fantasies that we just love as writers.
- 0:43SPEAKER_00: We sit down to write and all of a sudden we feel magically inspired with an endless supply of motivation and great ideas.
- 0:50SPEAKER_00: Now, of course, we know it doesn't always work that way, but I mean a writer can dream, can't he?
- 0:55SPEAKER_00: Most of the time, here's how it actually works.
- 0:57SPEAKER_00: We sit down to write and we don't feel the creative juices flowing immediately.
- 1:01SPEAKER_00: And then we assume because of that we're not talented or we're not creative.
- 1:05SPEAKER_00: And on our worst days, we even start to wonder if we should be writing in the first place.
- 1:11SPEAKER_00: The horror master Stephen King gave us some incredible wisdom when he said this.
- 1:16SPEAKER_00: Amateurs sit and wait for inspiration.
- 1:19SPEAKER_00: The rest of us just get up and go to work.
- 1:22SPEAKER_00: The truth is that inspiration doesn't usually come on the front end of writing.
- 1:27SPEAKER_00: Instead, we've got to sit down and get to work.
- 1:29SPEAKER_00: And after we've done some writing, the muse will show up and then inspire us to keep on going.
- 1:36SPEAKER_00: In other words, you've got to put some gas in the tank before you can go anywhere.
- 1:40SPEAKER_00: So here's today's challenge.
- 1:42SPEAKER_00: What are you doing today to put gas in your creative tank?
