- 0:00Our number 2 on the Iowa Sports Radio Network, Trent Condon
- 0:03here, joined today by Andy Pollock and Blake Walker as we
- 0:06talk the world of sports. Time to head to Chicago and our
- 0:10weekly conversation with David Kaplan presented by Centurion
- 0:13Stone of Iowa as he joins us here today.
- 0:16Cap, as always, appreciate the time.
- 0:18Good to catch up with you once again.
- 0:20What is new in Shy Town? 66° on February 18th and after I
- 0:29get done talking to you, I'm actually going to go for a hike.
- 0:32Nice. So yeah, take me sick and sunny.
- 0:36Sign me up brother. Got to take advantage of that
- 0:39Monday. We had a very similar weather
- 0:41here. Kids were off for school for the
- 0:44conferences and kids were outside playing with water
- 0:47balloons. They had a water blue flight in
- 0:49the middle of Iowa in the middle of February.
- 0:52But there's no global warming that will leave the politics
- 0:54aside. Cappy.
- 0:55Let's get into sports and let's start with the Chicago Bears.
- 0:58As the Bears offseason continues, the full announcement
- 1:01of coaching staff changes came out from the Chicago Bears and
- 1:05some movement in the ranks for Ben Johnson squad.
- 1:08As you can anticipate after a successful season of what was
- 1:11going to happen and the big one in the local connection us to
- 1:14here in the state of Iowa, Declan Doyle moving on with the
- 1:17Ravens to become their offensive coordinator.
- 1:20What do you think of some of the change up we're seeing with
- 1:22offensive staff? I mean, you promoted Press
- 1:25Taylor, so you get continuity because he was there with them
- 1:28this past season. So look, Ben is driving that
- 1:32bus. I watched the Caleb Williams
- 1:36podcast. He was a guest on Max Crosby's
- 1:39podcast. I don't know if you guys saw
- 1:41that, but it's on social and it is spectacular to listen.
- 1:48Guys talk so differently when they talk to another athlete.
- 1:53I don't care who the media guy is.
- 1:56They just talk differently when they talk to a fellow football
- 2:02player or fellow basketball player.
- 2:04And I'm listening to Caleb and he talked about, you know, Ben
- 2:08is so serious that when even when he cracks a joke, he does
- 2:12it with a straight face. And then he's like, that's a
- 2:14joke, guys, you can laugh and oh, OK, we can laugh.
- 2:18He said. That dude is so intense and so
- 2:21locked in and he goes to their coaches sleeping in the facility
- 2:25during the football season. And so his point was that
- 2:30whoever comes in here, Ben's the boss, whatever Ben wants, and
- 2:35pretty much Dennis Allen on the defensive side.
- 2:37But they have a certain way they do things, and if you don't do
- 2:42things the way they want, get out, they don't care.
- 2:46They don't care how good you are or who you are.
- 2:50You're going to run the offense or the defense the way I want it
- 2:54done or get out. And so whoever they promote, if
- 2:58they brought you and me in there, we would just do exactly
- 3:01what Ben wanted. That's it.
- 3:03I had another question with what we've seen here recently with
- 3:08Eric B Enemy. So he was the running back coach
- 3:10for the Bears this year. He goes back to Kansas City.
- 3:12He's going to be the offensive coordinator.
- 3:14You know, Andy Reid though, with a thumbprints that he has had
- 3:17talk about a weird coaching career that he has had.
- 3:19When he was in Kansas City the first time it felt like he was
- 3:22going to have his pick of jobs and it never came to fruition
- 3:24there. What did you learn?
- 3:26And I know it wasn't even a full season there in Chicago about
- 3:29Eric B Enemy because they're always just feels like there's
- 3:31something almost bubbling under the surface with him personality
- 3:35wise, the way that he connects. What were your thoughts on the
- 3:37Enemy? The running backs loved him and
- 3:41the Bears run game was outstanding.
- 3:42So I can only tell you that he was well respected.
- 3:47He's very intense. When we were at training camp, I
- 3:51mean, he didn't care who you are.
- 3:54He was going to call you out and you're moving like an old lady.
- 3:58You're this, you're that like he was, he was very, very intense.
- 4:04The way he coached his guys at training camp.
- 4:06And you can't argue with the results.
- 4:09Swift had his, you know, maybe the second best season of his
- 4:13career, certainly best in Chicago.
- 4:15The none guy, seventh round pick had a really good year.
- 4:19So now he goes back and he's the OC for Andy Reid.
- 4:24Is he ever going to be a head coach?
- 4:26I don't know. You're probably right.
- 4:28If you go back through his history, maybe there's somebody,
- 4:33something happened. I don't know what it is, but it
- 4:35doesn't seem like he's going to be a head coach anytime soon.
- 4:39But he's a really good offense of mine and from what I hear, a
- 4:43good guy. Yeah, that's that's one
- 4:45certainly interesting. So the Bears offseason as it's
- 4:48in front of us cap, I want to get your perspective.
- 4:50Salary caps, some of the cuts were going to be seasoned, kind
- 4:53of the work that needs to be done on the business side of
- 4:55things, salary cap and all that together and what you anticipate
- 4:59cuts that are going to happen, veterans that they're going to
- 5:01move on from. Well, I don't think they're
- 5:05going to resign Jaquan Brisker. I'll be very surprised if they
- 5:08do. I'll be equally surprised if
- 5:11they don't resign my guy Kevin Byard, he's a leader.
- 5:15He's a really good football player.
- 5:17He's not trying to hold you up for crazy, crazy money.
- 5:22But he's, he's told me. I had dinner with him and he
- 5:25said, look, I don't want to play two years in Chicago within a
- 5:29year in Vegas, and then they don't want me back.
- 5:33So I go for a year to Houston because I'm not doing it.
- 5:36I'm not moving my wife and three young kids to different cities
- 5:42every year. We like it here.
- 5:44I want to be here, they tell me. They want me to be here.
- 5:48Now we just got to find a number that works for both sides, so we
- 5:51will see. So joined by a couple of Co
- 5:54hosts today, going to jump in. First, we got Andy, a lifelong
- 5:57Iowa and he's got a question that has been certainly making
- 6:01the rounds here in the state of Iowa.
- 6:02Take it away, Pollock. Yeah, file this under.
- 6:04There's not a whole lot going on in Iowa this time of year.
- 6:06But yeah, recently the Iowa Legislature has talked about
- 6:10trying to make a run to get the Bears to come to Iowa.
- 6:13Is that what's even right? I know what, but what is that
- 6:17look like right now out in Chicago?
- 6:19What's what? What are things looking like as
- 6:20far as where the Bears will end up?
- 6:23I'm telling you what, Indiana's for real now.
- 6:27Indiana's not Iowa. And I said on the air,
- 6:29kiddingly, if the Bears move to the Quad Cities, I'm becoming a
- 6:32Packers. No anything but that.
- 6:36Because that is never, ever going to happen simply because
- 6:41the Chicago Bears are in Illinois.
- 6:44That for me, and I think they want to be in Arlington Heights
- 6:49to the best of their ability. But if Governor Pritzker and I
- 6:54don't, I don't talk politics on my radio show.
- 6:57But we are the most messed up state politically, probably in
- 7:00the country, maybe next to California.
- 7:02I mean, we have a $0.48 per gallon gas tax.
- 7:06It's stupid, it's ridiculous. And they can't figure out a way
- 7:10to keep a charter franchise of the NFL happy when that charter
- 7:16franchise is not asking them to build them a stadium.
- 7:20Let me be clear. Chicago Bears said we'll pay for
- 7:23the stadium. We just want you to give us two
- 7:26things. You pay for the infrastructure
- 7:28that has to be expanded, whatever that is, I-90 or Route
- 7:3353 or the exits, that Euclid near the racetrack property
- 7:39that's going to benefit the whole region, not just the 9
- 7:43Sundays that they play a football game there or concerts
- 7:47or whatever that are held in that facility.
- 7:49And then the other thing we want is we want property tax
- 7:53certainty. The number one highest property
- 7:56tax in the NFL is paid by the LA Rams.
- 8:00They pay 8 and a half, $1,000,000 per year.
- 8:02That doesn't include amusement tax on tickets.
- 8:05Any of that. Property tax on Sofi is 8 and a
- 8:08half million dollars right now. If the Chicago Bears just
- 8:13accepted whatever Illinois is giving them under, depending on
- 8:17how the economy performs because it would be tied to that, they
- 8:20could pay $100 million in tax. Unsustainable.
- 8:25You can't run a business that way.
- 8:27They'll give Boeing a tax break. They'll give McDonald's or
- 8:31Walgreens or any of these big companies that move here.
- 8:34That's why you've seen some big corporations.
- 8:37Citadel, owned by what was the richest guy in Illinois, Ken
- 8:41Griffin. He said I'm out, I can't deal
- 8:43with the politics here, I'm gone.
- 8:45And he moved his operations to Miami, FL, because Florida is
- 8:50much more probusiness. Illinois, despite what the
- 8:53politicians want to tell you, does not know how to get out of
- 8:57their own way. So Indiana said hang on a
- 9:00second, we'll build you a stadium, We won't charge you any
- 9:05rent in Portage IN and you won't have to cover any tax bill.
- 9:10Nothing. We want you here.
- 9:13We've got 300 plus acres around it that you can develop and put
- 9:18whatever you want there. Restaurants, sports book,
- 9:21whatever. You have no obstructions with
- 9:25us, but they think it would be great and a real shot in the arm
- 9:29for that region. I don't know if they're going to
- 9:31Portage. That's a 45 minute drive from
- 9:33downtown Chicago. But I do think Hammond, Gary,
- 9:37like that governor wants the bears desperately.
- 9:40They're also telling the bears, hey, the 27th of February is the
- 9:44last day of our general session for our legislature.
- 9:49We want an answer by then. That's next week.
- 9:53So we're going to know something here in the next 10 days.
- 9:56And I think it woke Illinois up to the degree that they're at
- 9:59least going to have a big meeting tomorrow, a number of
- 10:04the state legislature to see if there's a way they can figure
- 10:08out the tax bill, this mega project bill, and figure out the
- 10:13infrastructure. But I'm telling you, if they
- 10:16don't, if they screw around, Governor Pritzker is going to
- 10:20wake up one day and go, Oh, my God, I might watch the show.
- 10:23The Chicago Bears now are playing in Indiana and they're
- 10:27not going to give up the name. I remember the old mayor daily,
- 10:30not the last mayor daily. His dad says when George Hallis
- 10:35was alive, he said, I want to move to Arlington Heights.
- 10:37He goes over my dead body. You'll be the Chicago Bears
- 10:40then. You're going to be the Arlington
- 10:41Heights Bears. And that's not going to happen.
- 10:44They're going to be the Chicago Bears no matter where they play.
- 10:49But I I used to say it's a done deal, they're going to Arlington
- 10:53Heights because I can't believe that the politicians in my state
- 10:57are as stupid as they are. But when I see some of the other
- 11:01decisions that they make, it won't shock me if they end up in
- 11:05Indiana. We saw plenty of grand standing
- 11:08here thinking that they're going to have the Chicago Bears in the
- 11:10Quad Cities. But yes, it happens everywhere.
- 11:12Cap. You are certainly not alone on
- 11:14that. One final thing on the Bears
- 11:15before we get into a little baseball talk with you a Cap.
- 11:19There are murmurs, rumblings, rumors out there of a possible
- 11:23reunion with Kirk Cousins, going back to Minnesota with the
- 11:26Vikings. He has been moving on from
- 11:28Atlanta. What is final four games with
- 11:30the Falcons. At the end, we know JJ McCarthy
- 11:33looks like a lost cause at this point in his career.
- 11:37The Lions aren't going anywhere. They're going to look to improve
- 11:39that offensive line. The Packers we know are going to
- 11:41be consistent winners. It feels like year in and year
- 11:44out and the Bears have a first place schedule.
- 11:46Does Kirk Cousins going back to Minnesota change your perception
- 11:49at all of them going into next year?
- 11:52No, it does not. It absolutely does not.
- 11:57Look, I think the Vikings have talent.
- 12:00I love their head coach. Kevin O'connell's really good
- 12:04Kirk, let's be fair with Kirk Cousins is here and I hear he's
- 12:07a great, great teammate, a great dude.
- 12:10That's all well and fine. He's, what, 363738?
- 12:15He's in that range with he'll be now another year removed from a
- 12:20torn Achilles. But he's a good player.
- 12:23He's not a star. He's not.
- 12:25Is he better than JJ McCarthy right now?
- 12:27Probably I just I don't think that that is a Oh my God, the
- 12:32Vikings just got real. They got Patrick Mahomes from
- 12:36the Chiefs. Nice player.
- 12:38I still think this division is going to go through the Bears
- 12:43and the Packers. One of those two are going to
- 12:45win it. Let's jump into some baseball.
- 12:47David Kaplan joining us. ESPN 1000 presented by Centurion
- 12:50Stone of Iowa As pitchers and catchers are reporting we're
- 12:54getting ready for the World Baseball Classic.
- 12:56Give us the top storyline that we've had at this point in time.
- 13:00The Cubs much more boring than what's happening with my team.
- 13:03Pablo Lopez out for the year for the Twins.
- 13:05The GM leaving the team two weeks before spring training
- 13:08begins. Feels like the news not quite
- 13:10the same for the Cubs pretty much as in anticipated here to
- 13:13begin the offset begin. Excuse me, Spring training I.
- 13:18Mean the Cubs are really, really excited how Kate Horton looks.
- 13:21He was thrown the other day and Craig counsel said someone said,
- 13:25how's Horton look coming back from the broken rib that he
- 13:27missed the playoffs with? He said, well, it's the middle
- 13:31of February and he's sitting at 96, touching 98.
- 13:35And then someone else there said, don't forget Jackson
- 13:37Wiggins, our #1 prospect who your Twins tried to extort the
- 13:42Cubs for in a Joe Ryan deal. He's sitting at 98, touching
- 13:46101. He's their number 1 prospect and
- 13:50that's why they did not trade him in a Joe Ryan, John Duran,
- 13:56Mackenzie Gore, that type of deal, because they think he'll
- 14:00be here sooner rather than later this season.
- 14:04Justin Steele's coming back, you've got Kate Horton, you've
- 14:07got Matt Boyd and you got Jameson Dion and you've got
- 14:10Imanaga. I mean, you've got a lot of arms
- 14:13in this camp and then if you look at their everyday line up,
- 14:18I don't think there's a team in baseball that is good
- 14:20defensively. Three time Gold Glover in left,
- 14:23Gold Glover in center. And then you've got Sale who's
- 14:26just a very average outfielder. You got a really good first
- 14:30baseman and Michael Bush who hit 34 home runs.
- 14:33You got a Gold Glove second baseman, Gold Glove shortstop,
- 14:36Gold Glove third baseman. So you've got a really, really
- 14:40strong team that I know the Dodgers are the Dodgers, the the
- 14:45Cubs are maybe not quite there, but I think they're the second
- 14:49best team in the National League potentially.
- 14:51I saw an interview with the swarm of reporters down a spring
- 14:55training with Tom Ricketts, and Ricketts, it felt like maybe
- 14:58chess puffed out a little bit. Believes in this team winning a
- 15:01division, competing for a championship.
- 15:03That's obviously the way it should be for an organization
- 15:06like the Cubs seemingly every single year.
- 15:08But feels like we're getting a little bit of bravado out of
- 15:10Ricketts. Does that lead you to believe
- 15:12that? That checkbooks open and come
- 15:15deadline time, if there is something that is going to help
- 15:17this team and maybe push them over the edge that Ricketts is
- 15:20going to spend. Yeah.
- 15:23You know, the one thing I'd like to make sure people realize is
- 15:26that it's not what you're willing to spend at the
- 15:29deadline. Because when I was talking to
- 15:32Jed Hoyer on my YouTube show a few weeks ago, he was in here.
- 15:37He said let me just correct you guys because I asked the same
- 15:40exact question. Your boss is going to let you
- 15:43spend when it comes to the deadline.
- 15:46He said it has zero to do with money.
- 15:50He said there were plenty of guys we could have acquired.
- 15:54He said we have money to be able to spend, but he said when you
- 15:58call up a particular team and he wouldn't say who it was, but I
- 16:02did on the show and he just looked at me and smiled.
- 16:05When you call up the Minnesota Twins and you tell them, hey,
- 16:08what do you want for Joe Ryan? And they tell you, yeah, we want
- 16:13Jackson Wiggins, your number one pitching prospect who's going to
- 16:17be here in six months. And we want Kate Horton, and we
- 16:21want Owen Casey. And Jed just goes, yeah, thanks,
- 16:25good luck. See you.
- 16:26Hope that goes well for you. Then you call the Washington
- 16:29Nationals for Mackenzie Gore, and you're told the same exact
- 16:32names. Or, well, if you don't want to
- 16:34put Wiggins. And we'll take Nat Shaw, who is
- 16:37a Gold Glove finalist as a rookie at a position he never
- 16:40played at third base. And now they're going to use him
- 16:42in the outfield some in right. He'll spell Horner at 2nd, and
- 16:46he'll give Bregman a day off at third.
- 16:48He's like 24 years old. And so my point is it does, it
- 16:53does not matter what contract you're asked to take back.
- 16:56It's what players you want off my team.
- 17:00Kate Horton is my #1 starter. Jackson Wiggins, many people in
- 17:04the organization believe has a higher ceiling than Kate Horton.
- 17:08So I know he's coming from AAA and maybe it's not this year,
- 17:12but let's go three years down the road and I got a 27 or 28
- 17:16year old Kate Horton, like a 24 year old Jackson Wiggins at the
- 17:21front of my rotation. Boy, I'm glad I didn't make the
- 17:24trade for Joe Ryan then. That is incredible.
- 17:28Yeah. I'd take that hall for my twins.
- 17:30They need a lot. They need a lot of work.
- 17:31David Kaplan joining us, as always, presented by Centurion
- 17:34Stone of Iowa. Cap, appreciate it.
- 17:36Talk to you next week. Have a great day.
- 17:40David Kaplan joining us on a Wednesday here as we talk some
- 17:43Chicago sports. Little Bears and Cubs for you.
- 17:46Sorry, White Sox fans, Bulls fans, Blackhawk fans, A Blake, I
- 17:50know you like racing. Yeah, we have got to Wednesday.
- 17:54I have not spent literally one second talking about whatever
- 17:58happened at Daytona. Yep, because I didn't see a
- 18:00second of it. I am not a race fan.
- 18:03Are you a hockey guy? Are you an NBA guy?
- 18:05You're younger than Andy and I, so I wanna get your thoughts on
- 18:08that. The it's baseball, it's
- 18:11football, it's basketball. Those are the main things that
- 18:14certainly college basketball. What else do you root for?
- 18:17What else do you cheer for outside of your NASCAR?
- 18:19I think, you know, NBA wise, I've always been a Timberwolves
- 18:22guy. There you go.
- 18:24You know, I like, I like that. I, I've, I haven't gotten into
- 18:27hockey. I, I just, it's hard.
- 18:29I want to, I will say the the classic that they had last year
- 18:33with all the different countries I was locked in, you would have.
- 18:35Thought Four Nations. Oh, it was unbelievable.
- 18:38I was when, when we lost, I was so, so disappointed for no
- 18:40reason. But yeah, I think, you know,
- 18:43those I really enjoy. And you know, I, I'm not a big
- 18:46soccer guy, but with the World Cup this year, I might as well.
- 18:49I mean, you know, cuz it's, you're just part of it.
- 18:51And I like to say that I, I want to be able to watch all
- 18:54different kinds of sports. And, you know, it's, it's fun to
- 18:57keep up with them. Now you're a Vikings fan,
- 18:59Pollock, and it's gross. I grew up surrounded by you
- 19:02guys. Yeah, you're you're closer to
- 19:04there than I was. Absolutely.
- 19:05And it was like growing up, it was like 90% Vikings fans.
- 19:09So North Central Iowa grew up 10 miles away from the border on
- 19:12the correct side of the border, and it was all there.
- 19:15There were no Packer fans, No. We don't have any where I was
- 19:18either. Suddenly in the 90s, these
- 19:20people in their John Deere Green, they start coming out of
- 19:23the woodwork. Where did these people come
- 19:25from? And of course, we know the pro,
- 19:27what the Packers have turned into and what they've been,
- 19:29though those Packer fans were always there.
- 19:32Viking fan. What else though?
- 19:34Iowa State, your Wartburg nights.
- 19:36You bet. AP Dolly, all the you you got
- 19:39too many I. Got yeah, I got.
- 19:41There's not too many teams I actively cheer against other
- 19:43than the Hawkeyes and the Cornhuskers.
- 19:44That's it. So and honestly.
- 19:46Broncos for me. Oh, huge, huge Denver Broncos.
- 19:50Ken would like to hear you had just heard.
- 19:51NBA and everything else. Are you ever mentioned those?
- 19:54I was like, yeah, huge Denver Broncos.
- 19:56I actually Broncos would be one of the teams I pulled for as
- 19:58well. We got a local kid, Riley Moss,
- 20:00his his dad was my girl's principal all all the way
- 20:03through. Awesome dude.
- 20:05Yeah. And so having him around, that's
- 20:08been great. Honestly, there's a lot of over
- 20:10the last 22 years I think that I've been coaching.
- 20:12There's a lot of CIML kids that have moved on and gone on to the
- 20:15pros, the colleges they go to, and over that time you network
- 20:19with other coaches. They get jobs in other places.
- 20:22There's a lot of help. Fresno State, big fan of them
- 20:24right now too, you know, with ants out there and you know,
- 20:26Kansas State, I've followed them quite a bit with climbing over
- 20:29there. They're just there's a lot of
- 20:30good guys in the profession that you want to pull for.
- 20:33So there's not very many teams that I actively root against.
- 20:36Heck, even, you know, George Barnett's been a friend of mine
- 20:38for a long time, the Iowa line coach and we have been known to
- 20:41text each other some pretty, some pretty, I don't know,
- 20:44things that wouldn't normally get put out there.
- 20:46He's at the Hawkeyes and Cyclones play each other, so and
- 20:49it's relationship with those guys.
- 20:50So, you know, the Bulls in the 90s growing up, how could you
- 20:54not cheer for the 90s? So those were some classic
- 20:57teams. Just never been into hockey
- 20:59really at all other than the Olympics.
- 21:00Watching that and hanging on Canada, hopefully getting beat
- 21:03by Chechea. And then it didn't happen.
- 21:04Is that how you say it? Yeah, See, you got it.
- 21:06Right. Yeah, OK.
- 21:07And then Canada ends up winning in the shootout there at the end
- 21:10of overtime. So yeah, not, not super big into
- 21:13hockey. I I have started to appreciate
- 21:15soccer a lot more over the last five years than I ever did
- 21:18before soccer. Yeah.
- 21:19I think any probably of us could have imagined just a few years
- 21:22back, Yeah. Combination of both the high
- 21:25school coverage that we've got around here and then Ted Lasso.
- 21:27Honestly, like I say it kind of in jest, but holy cow, I mean
- 21:31that what a what a boom to the sport to have something that
- 21:34popular and connectable, right? You watch that and everyone, I
- 21:38think everyone sees a little of themselves or someone they know
- 21:41in Ted Lasso. So that's been a good reason to
- 21:43follow the sport of soccer as well.
- 21:45Good to get to know you. Guys a little bit more and we
- 21:47work in workspaces I show up usually about 10 minutes before
- 21:51opening tip plug in my equipment I'm ready to go so always good
- 21:55to chat with you guys and find out a little bit more we're
- 21:57going to dive into a few more topics that we've been batting
- 21:59around including one of the more crazy ones that is out there and
- 22:02that is the continued movement in college athletics and the
- 22:07realignment that happens. We talked about Northern
- 22:09Illinois a little bit later losing their coach.
- 22:11Well, they're moving on. North Dakota State is lose,
- 22:14leaving the FCS and going up to the FBS level to going to the
- 22:17Mountain West. But it's not the Mountain West
- 22:19that even we know at this point in time.
- 22:21A lot of changes. We're going to talk about it.
- 22:23Good move for North Dakota State moving up.
- 22:25That's next. As we continue it is Miller and
- 22:27Condon on the Iowa Sports Radio Network 130 on a Wednesday.
- 22:31It's Miller and Condon on the Iowa Sports Radio Network
- 22:34flagship one O 6.3 KX&O as we are on the day state wrestling
- 22:40begins. Already dealt with some people
- 22:42coming to town on 235. On my way into the studio today
- 22:46going 58 in the left lane on 235.
- 22:50Those cameras. Will get you.
- 22:51I mean, you just got to be. Careful, Oh boy, it's going to
- 22:56be our life here for the next 4 days though.
- 22:58A lot of visitors in town and hello to all of them out there.
- 23:01Andy Pollock, Blake Walker hanging out with me.
- 23:03Shrek Condon here today. Ken on vacation and he will be
- 23:07back with us next week on Monday.
- 23:09Guys, let's start right there. State wrestling.
- 23:12It's such a great time. So we all grew up in smaller
- 23:15towns. Osage, little less than 4000
- 23:19people. Grinnell 10,010 thousand.
- 23:22Big town tonight. Yeah, I know.
- 23:24AP Is Appleton bigger? Than Parkers no Parkersburg has
- 23:27about. 2000 Appleington's about 1000.
- 23:29OK, All right. I had it.
- 23:30Flip-flopped in my mind. How's the Appleington?
- 23:32Side yeah, OK, you're the. Appleington side, so an AP guy,
- 23:35a Grinnell guide, an Osage guy. We grew up in small towns and
- 23:38for me it was a wrestling town. Osage has always been a
- 23:41wrestling town, even during some of the downturns.
- 23:43That's what you did in kindergarten.
- 23:45Everybody. You go out for wrestling and it
- 23:46starts there. And that's how the program was
- 23:48back, way back in the day and certainly has grown into that.
- 23:51But as we've been doing this now, this will be our second
- 23:53year with all three of us together.
- 23:55It was really fun. I've tried to do it on my own.
- 23:58It's 8 mats. It's impossible, Auctioneer.
- 24:00And. I try to get.
- 24:03All the central Iowa kids names out there, at some point, even
- 24:05if they go out there and pin or get pinned in 18 seconds, want
- 24:09to have all that out there. I want to thank you guys and
- 24:11what you've done and the amount of coverage back for your number
- 24:142 of doing this. Heard from so many people a year
- 24:17ago, you guys, just how tremendous it was filling in the
- 24:19gaps, helping me out as much as possible and and being able to
- 24:22do it because we're all play by play guys.
- 24:25We all love doing play by play state wrestling in these first
- 24:28couple of rounds. This is not play by play.
- 24:30We're going to do starting this afternoon.
- 24:31It's horrified public address. Announcing really is what it is.
- 24:34I mean, you barely have time to just announce a score when
- 24:36somebody does something and that's about it, 'cause again,
- 24:38like you said, you're following 8 mats and if you don't know
- 24:41what's going on when you walk in there, you're completely lost.
- 24:44It's over completely. Lost, so it's.
- 24:48Wrestling is something relatively new to me.
- 24:50I mean, at Wartburg it was different.
- 24:52You know, the the tournament said that it's a wrestling
- 24:54craze. College still is 25 years later.
- 24:57Nothing like Osage right where I grew up at API mean we, I did
- 25:00wrestling in 6th grade, went to open mat night on Monday nights
- 25:03and then went to one tournament and never made it out of the
- 25:05first period. Like I got really familiar with
- 25:07the little, the holes that were in the ceiling Parkersburg gym.
- 25:10So had no clue what I was doing. But you know, we're a football
- 25:13town and that's, that's what everybody did.
- 25:14Basketball was pretty good for a little while too.
- 25:16But this wrestling thing, I mean, having track is great.
- 25:20Having track wrestling I'm talking about and able to follow
- 25:22along with what's going on there, having the girls as a
- 25:25warm up. I shouldn't call it a, but you
- 25:27have it a couple weeks before it gets in the in the mode of
- 25:30following along and seeing everything that's going on and
- 25:33being able to get ready to go. And then, yeah, we move it into
- 25:37what's going to happen tonight for almost 4 hours.
- 25:39We we have. A long, long afternoon, but it
- 25:42goes. It goes so.
- 25:42Fast. It does incredibly fast and one
- 25:45thing. That I've also learned we do a
- 25:47lot of sports, we do a lot of different things.
- 25:50It's we get to do a lot of fun things.
- 25:52But this week, more than ever, when I get done with this
- 25:55Saturday night, I am so wiped out, Blake.
- 25:58It is so much it is. And I mean.
- 26:01We know that from Girls Day. I mean, it's just it's just
- 26:04constant. You're always on it and it's
- 26:06always on top of things. But the stories are what make it
- 26:09cool. I mean, because you'll always
- 26:10remember the ones. And I think this year
- 26:12everybody's eyes will be Andre, Sean Ross out of Fort Dodge.
- 26:14He tries to become a four time state champion.
- 26:16I don't think he's lost. I don't believe so.
- 26:18So I mean, he's going to Oklahoma State, an unbelievable
- 26:21athlete. And even last year, I remember
- 26:24we were all there there for the championships and we knew he was
- 26:26going to win. But you're still like, you're on
- 26:28it. And we're UPS.
- 26:29You know, there's upsets, there's highs, there's lows.
- 26:31And I mean, it's so cool that we can say that we are technically
- 26:35a part of, I'd say the biggest high school wrestling event in
- 26:39the country. I mean, next to Pennsylvania, I
- 26:41don't even know what Pennsylvania.
- 26:42Is. I don't think so.
- 26:43I mean. It's you'd think it is the
- 26:44number one. It's just really cool to be a
- 26:46part of and it's very exhausting.
- 26:48Yes, it is. I tell the story.
- 26:50My uncle was great. Uncle was the wrestling coach at
- 26:53LSU back in the 70s and early 80s until it disbanded and my
- 26:56grandma went down there one year and went.
- 26:58It was after LSU and all the SEC rograms didn't have wrestling
- 27:02anymore. She went down there though
- 27:03because he went back and coached high school in Baton Rouge and
- 27:06went to their state tournament. She said Osage gets bigger
- 27:09crowds for a regular season duel against W Hancock.
- 27:13Then what was there for their state wrestling be to just how
- 27:16different it is here in our state.
- 27:18We got wall to wall coverage for you here starting this
- 27:20afternoon, four O'CLOCK 96.9 FM and then the following three
- 27:24days right here on KX and O. We'll have the coverage evening
- 27:27sessions for all three of them as they continue to rotate that
- 27:30schedule through with the classes and the prime time this
- 27:33year for Class 3. A 7:00 tomorrow night, 7:00 on
- 27:37Friday night, and then the Grand March at 5:30, followed up by
- 27:40State Championship Wrestling all here on KX&O Thursday, Friday
- 27:45and Saturday. Well, guys, it's a topic.
- 27:46And Pollock, you told me right away when I gave you a kind of
- 27:49potential topics we could talk about.
- 27:51I know you want to tackle it, Blake.
- 27:52I know you want to tackle it. North Dakota State is leaving
- 27:57the Missouri Valley Football Conference, a division at the
- 28:00FCS level that they have dominated 10 of the 15 last 15
- 28:04years national champions. It is a program we have seen
- 28:07come into our state and embarrassed both Iowa and Iowa
- 28:09State with victories. Kansas State knows about it.
- 28:12A lot of teams know about it. They are a power now.
- 28:16They make the move up here on the surface.
- 28:19You like the move, Pollock. I do.
- 28:20I love. The move, I think that's it's,
- 28:22it's the right time. I mean, what else are they going
- 28:23to do that they haven't done already?
- 28:25And the money is going to be better.
- 28:28It's going to be a lot more exposure.
- 28:30We've already seen teams that have moved up have a make a
- 28:33splash relatively soon. I love their style of play.
- 28:36I love what they do up there. Their pricks, their fans are
- 28:39pricks. Everybody, everything about them
- 28:41is prickish. And I love that in football.
- 28:43They are, they are absolute bullies.
- 28:44I mean, that's that's what they do.
- 28:45They take those big old farm kids and they come out there and
- 28:48they run it down your throat. Yeah, I love that.
- 28:49And they're known for for running power, a gap power.
- 28:52That's what North Dakota State runs and they they play
- 28:54everything off that. But those guys are so well
- 28:56prepared. I will be curious to see how
- 29:00things operate now that they'll be in more in the NIL market.
- 29:03And some of those players, I don't think they're going to be
- 29:05as big a destination for NIL dollars or the transfer portal
- 29:09kids coming in. But I think this is absolutely
- 29:11the right move right now for North Dakota State.
- 29:13And I don't know if you've ever watched games with North Dakota
- 29:15State fans of Bison fans, it's like watching him with the
- 29:17Cardinals fans are absolutely insufferable.
- 29:19But he and it's because they you know, they they expect to win.
- 29:23I mean, and they we've seen it happen.
- 29:24And when they came to Kinnick, when they came to Jack Trice,
- 29:27they went down to K State, they went to Minnesota.
- 29:28They take over your stadium when they travel and they're in a
- 29:31stadium that seats about 18,000, maybe 19,000 there in Fargo.
- 29:35And they're going to fit right in there.
- 29:36The amount of people that they have at their games is going to
- 29:38fit right in with about what they have for crowds in the
- 29:40Mountain West, even though you look at the stadium maybe not
- 29:42being as big, but it's it's going to fit right in.
- 29:44And it's I think it's going to be a very good thing for North
- 29:46Dakota State. And they're one of my favorite
- 29:48programs to follow over the years.
- 29:49I just, you know, sometimes when it you don't necessarily as a
- 29:52program want to be liked right? And then there I think they fall
- 29:55under that realm right now. No one really likes North Dakota
- 29:58State as a fan because of their fans and the following and the
- 30:00success they've had. But I I will be pulling for
- 30:03North Dakota State to have success, I think, for Tim.
- 30:06Pawlasek, it's great. I mean, I that's the coach that
- 30:08you want in that position. I feel like this is a great move
- 30:10for North Dakota State. And I mean, nothing against the
- 30:13Mountain West right now, but it's not the best conference.
- 30:17I mean, it sure feels like you plug North Dakota State in,
- 30:20they're going to be a top four team.
- 30:22And I mean, you know, you think about the playoff stuff and
- 30:25everything else, yes, they're probably going to have to win
- 30:26every single game. But I think some teams they can
- 30:29though, yes. Yeah.
- 30:30Absolutely. They absolutely.
- 30:31Can and I, I think, you know, their last two games against FBS
- 30:35opponents are losses. They lost to Colorado with Deion
- 30:38Sanders and the Sanders, and then they lost to Arizona.
- 30:41But they were trying those and obviously they beat Iowa and
- 30:44they beat Minnesota, Kansas State, Central Michigan, all
- 30:46these other teams. But I think it's a great move.
- 30:48I hate the whole having to wait. They can't be bowl eligible till
- 30:522028. I think that's it.
- 30:54Just it stinks. We saw James Madison go only one
- 30:57loss or maybe undefeated when they first got here.
- 31:00I think that's tough. It the travel will be
- 31:02interesting. I mean, Can you believe it?
- 31:04They're going to probably have to play a 12:00 kick in Hawaii.
- 31:07I mean, you know, like, and that's crazy.
- 31:08That's crazy to think about. But I I agree, I think it's it's
- 31:12a great move for North Dakota State.
- 31:14I know they got beat this past season by Illinois State in the
- 31:16playoffs, but I think the tides are kind of changing.
- 31:19It's Montana. Montana State's time now, it
- 31:22feels like in the FCS level, and I think South Dakota State
- 31:24probably won't be too far behind if I had to guess.
- 31:26Well, and you? Couple that with you mentioned
- 31:28those Montana schools, this changing demographic and what
- 31:31we're seeing and we don't know what the, it won't be the final
- 31:34version, but the next version of college athletics is going to be
- 31:37for football and what it's going to look like.
- 31:39Does it make sense for these power programs, the programs
- 31:42that also have money? And that's been, I think under
- 31:44the surface with all of this, North Dakota State, they have a
- 31:47crap ton of money and comparative to a program like
- 31:51you and I, even programs like Illinois State and Southern
- 31:54Illinois, the financial component is a completely
- 31:57different level than what we see some of these smaller state
- 32:00schools that are out there because they're the only show in
- 32:02town. And it's why North Dakota has
- 32:04been a power in hockey and they've had an investor and they
- 32:06got oil money up there. They have a different kind of
- 32:09money than some of these other programs.
- 32:11That's what gives North Dakota State, I think, a leg up with
- 32:14the Sanford hospitals in South Dakota.
- 32:16The South Dakota State, I think can go in that realm.
- 32:19And you wonder, Mount W is changing, the PAC 12 is
- 32:22changing. Is this a move, though for North
- 32:24Dakota State? Hey, let's get ahead of those
- 32:25teams. Let's get ahead of the curve.
- 32:27And if the PAC, PAC 12 turns into something a little bit more
- 32:30as Boise's moving there, Colorado State, Fresno, San
- 32:33Diego State, I'll go in there with Oregon State, Washington
- 32:36State. And then there's going to be
- 32:37maybe a step up for them from this new Mountain West up to the
- 32:40PAC 12. It sure feels like.
- 32:42You know, I always and people my age will understand when you
- 32:45play these video games, these college football while video
- 32:47games, you can change conferences.
- 32:48Yeah. And a lot of people, they'll
- 32:49start at a small conference and they'll work their way up.
- 32:51Like if you're down in a Texas school, UTSA, you start down
- 32:54where in the American and then your goal is the SEC.
- 32:57It sure feels like in the next 25 years, could North Dakota
- 33:01State be a part of the Big 10? Because you said it.
- 33:03I mean, they got the money for it.
- 33:04I think it's definitely a possibility.
- 33:06It it'll just be so interesting because you talk about the NIL
- 33:09and everything else, but look at all the national champions in
- 33:12football this past year in every division.
- 33:14Where do they come from? They came right here in the
- 33:17northern part of the United States.
- 33:18So it, it just works in North Dakota state's favor.
- 33:20And I, I, I think you're right. Getting ahead of the 8 ball is
- 33:24huge because who knows what's going to happen?
- 33:26I I will say I don't. Think North Dakota State would
- 33:28be a big 10 school. I think you'd more likely to be
- 33:30a Big 12 school. I don't think they have the TV
- 33:32eyeballs up there to that would be big 10 would be attracted to
- 33:36at that point. But I think you know, and you,
- 33:38you brought it up to, I think it's going to be a good thing
- 33:40for the other schools in their current conference because.
- 33:43But also lends itself to the question, what's next for school
- 33:46like you and I? Yeah, because they're not going
- 33:49that way right now. No at all.
- 33:51It's more likely they go. Drakes way correct goes no,
- 33:54Yeah, fortunately. And even with all the.
- 33:56Upgrades they've had to that stadium up there.
- 33:58The unit was beautiful. Right now, I don't know the last
- 33:59time you guys were up there, but it's awesome.
- 34:01Other facilities have improved a ton, but I just don't and it
- 34:04we've heard that for years though with you and I have is
- 34:06sustainable to have scholarship football there and I don't know
- 34:09if that's the answer. And I agree with you Trent.
- 34:11I think that much more likely that they had that Drake
- 34:14direction in the next 10 years as opposed to anything else even
- 34:17currently staying the same. Northern Illinois is.
- 34:19Leaving the Mac, a perfect conference for them.
- 34:22All the Ohio schools, all the Michigan schools, close
- 34:25proximity. It was really our last major
- 34:27conference at the FBS level that actually made sense, even with
- 34:31the addition of UMass. We'll move them to the side.
- 34:33And now they're joining up and they're leaving as they're going
- 34:37to be a football member only in this new iteration of their
- 34:41conference in this new Mountain West.
- 34:43And then you have Sacramento State, They're going to be
- 34:45joining the Mac and they paid a ton of money.
- 34:48I wonder where that buddy's coming from because I know there
- 34:51was talk them trying to get up to the FBS level, what they're
- 34:53going to do. And they had all these
- 34:55commitments, but it actually wasn't dollars and cents.
- 34:58It just it leads you to the world of I understand you want
- 35:01to be your front Portugal University, right?
- 35:03Is your athletic department, your football program and what
- 35:06it's done for a university like Alabama, which was a middling,
- 35:11no, not well known university, and the academic side and the
- 35:14number of enrollments that have gone up and with it, the way the
- 35:16school has improved because of those kind of things.
- 35:19But for somebody like Sacramento State, well, this one feels like
- 35:22a big stretch It it's just. They haven't done enough.
- 35:25You know, you think of the FCS powerhouses, you just don't
- 35:28think of Sacramento State. And you know, I, we were talking
- 35:31about it before there was a really good post that I saw
- 35:33about the money. It's $18,000,000 to the Mac.
- 35:37That's $18 million paid to the Mac, $5,000,000 for NCAA
- 35:40advancement. So there's already a good chunk.
- 35:42The travel is going to be insane.
- 35:45I mean, like, this is a California school.
- 35:47You think about the Big 10, they're Big 10 schools.
- 35:49This is a California school that's going to keep having to
- 35:51go to the Ohio Valley back and forth, back and forth.
- 35:53It it just, it just doesn't make sense.
- 35:55They're going to have to upgrade their stadium.
- 35:57Nothing against their stadium, but it's not an FPS level
- 35:59stadium. It just the disbursements,
- 36:02everything else, I think they're going to lose money and they're
- 36:04going to lose a lot of money. And it just feels like this is
- 36:07an Idaho situation where, yeah, it's great to be here, but you
- 36:11just realize I'm getting my butt kicked every single week.
- 36:13We're losing money. Nobody wants to come here.
- 36:16I I don't know, I just feel like maybe they saw a couple of these
- 36:19schools, they heard the rumors, the rumblings, they saw what
- 36:21James Madison did and said, oh, we got to do that.
- 36:23We got to jump on it. I.
- 36:25Breaking up Idaho, who was at the FBS level and then went back
- 36:29after being a Power in the 80s and 90s?
- 36:31I know them and you and I had a great playoff game back in the
- 36:3490s. Idaho, Moscow, very difficult
- 36:37place to get to up there. They were in the Sunbelt for a
- 36:39couple of years. I mean, you talk about just a
- 36:41complete outline Dome. It's amazing.
- 36:43The Kipping Dome, absolutely a beauty.
- 36:45Speaking of that, back in the day, I built them into a
- 36:47national power out there. Yeah.
- 36:48Probably NC double AO one or something a little while back
- 36:52that we were able to build the Vandals up to them.
- 36:54Bill Walsh College. Yeah, Bill.
- 36:55Walsh, now you're. Life I come full circle.
- 36:59I made Aaron Granquist, A Heisman winner, the Hawkeye.
- 37:02Can be done the Hawkeye full back.
- 37:04He was A and the average about 2.3 yards per carry.
- 37:07But we made it happen and we got it done on that front.
- 37:10We need one more final time out. We'll come back on the other
- 37:13side, put a cap on things. My picks of the day and story
- 37:16time that has never been uttered on these airs before.
- 37:19That's next. It's Miller and Condon final
- 37:21time on a Wednesday. Miller and Condon continues on
- 37:23the Iowa Sports Radio Network off the bench coming up next
- 37:27with Lucas Strain. Connor Ferguson will take you up
- 37:30until 5:00 before out overtime Iowa here on the network.
- 37:35I'll play some 90s music coming back as we go back to the 90s.
- 37:38And I've been teasing this one for a while.
- 37:40So Blake, how old are you? I am 20.
- 37:42Five born in 2000. Cool, So this is before you.
- 37:45Report. All right, I'll sit well and
- 37:47enjoy well. Before.
- 37:49So I take you. Back to the fall of 1996 as I it
- 37:53is the playoffs. The Green Devils are in the
- 37:56playoffs for the first time and I believe about 5-6 years as
- 37:59Osage is getting ready to go up against the behemoth that is AP
- 38:03absolutely number one at the time.
- 38:05Even I think very good team. Iowa, the Osage squad that year
- 38:09was really good too. Had some dudes.
- 38:12Had some dudes on that. Squad Nick Cockrum, one of my
- 38:15good friends. He was a baller on both sides of
- 38:17the football. Jake Olson, the quarterback with
- 38:20him several. Years at Warburg, later on, Sean
- 38:22Buckeyt. Who made Lane Danielson on both
- 38:24sides of the ball at Dyke New Hartford not look very good?
- 38:26Who went on to start Iowa State? And we got to give my buddy Sean
- 38:30a hard time about that. Look what he did and look what
- 38:32you did. He just drank in college.
- 38:33But that aside, didn't we all? Yes.
- 38:37We, me and two buddies make our way over the night before that
- 38:41game to a volleyball match, probably a regional match I
- 38:43would guess. You were in Cedar Falls, right?
- 38:45That night or what were you doing somewhere in the area,
- 38:46Somewhere in that area? We went to the volleyball match,
- 38:49watched it, and we're on our way back.
- 38:51We have the bright idea. Well, we're right by AP.
- 38:54Let's go check out the field. Let's go see what this sacred
- 38:59anchor Thursday night. Thursday night, yeah.
- 39:01Night before the game. Well, actually probably would.
- 39:03Have been about a Monday or a Tuesday night, probably back
- 39:05then a Tuesday or a Monday because the games were on.
- 39:08It was the week of the game, yeah.
- 39:09We didn't play on Fridays. Though Oh, that's right, Yeah,
- 39:11the. Playoffs were, so it was
- 39:12probably, it was probably Tuesday, right, Because we had
- 39:14that quick turn around to Wednesday.
- 39:16And as we make our way, we find the football field.
- 39:20There's no GPS, of course, back then, but we find it.
- 39:22We see the sacred Acre and like, oh, OK, that's cool.
- 39:25And we get out of the car and we kind of look around a little
- 39:27bit. All right, there it is.
- 39:28And it was 2 minutes. This is in the middle of the
- 39:30night. This is, yeah, probably. 9/30,
- 39:3310:00 at night, something like that.
- 39:34It's not much is open in Parkers.
- 39:36Yeah, quick start, Quick start would have been.
- 39:38Open. That's about it.
- 39:39And so we're coming around the. School and we're trying to get
- 39:41out of there and we take a wrong turn and we take a wrong turn
- 39:44and it had been wet and as we'll find out the next day with the
- 39:47football game that was an incredibly wet game 86 the final
- 39:51AP on a 2 point conversion the difference as they go on all the
- 39:55way to the state championship game and you guys henceforth.
- 39:58And forevermore we knew you guys as Osoggy, Osoggy at that point
- 40:01it was. A wet one.
- 40:03Well, it was a wet one before, and we make this turn in the
- 40:06dark of the night into this area.
- 40:09They're not supposed to drive it.
- 40:10It was grass and we can't get out.
- 40:14We're stuck in the mud and there's three of us and I'm not
- 40:17a real big guy. My buddy Mike's not a real big
- 40:19guy. My buddy James is the one that
- 40:21actually had the license that was driving.
- 40:23So he's the one that's trying to get us out of there.
- 40:25We finally do. I don't know the mess that we
- 40:27left behind, but apparently Andy Pollock, this was a pretty big
- 40:31story down there in AP. It was because, well.
- 40:34If I remember right, as you shared this story with me over a
- 40:37couple soda pops up in Ankeny a few years ago that you guys
- 40:40needed some help and you might have knocked on the door of a
- 40:43football player up there at API. Remember right, you, so and he.
- 40:48Might. Have been our starting middle
- 40:49linebacker Oh my so he. Went by the school and he helped
- 40:52out. He did he.
- 40:53Didn't know who you guys were. No, not at all.
- 40:55He had no idea. But word got out the next day
- 40:58that there you guys were right up next to the football field,
- 41:01like right up next to the football field, there was tracks
- 41:03in the mud. And the next day that was kind
- 41:04of the rallying, crying, got some little punks from Osage and
- 41:07I swear to everything. Trying to get onto the field I.
- 41:09Absolutely swear. We were not trying to ruin the
- 41:11football field anything like that.
- 41:13It was absolutely just we're going to check it out and a
- 41:16wrong turn and a muddy field, our muddy, grassy, grassy area
- 41:20turned into that. Now, I was not a football player
- 41:23at that point. I had hung up my cleats at that
- 41:25point as a cross country runner, as you guys can see.
- 41:27Obviously that makes a whole lot of sense.
- 41:29I beat 8 guys. A district though, 8 guys.
- 41:32There's like 400 of them, but still I beat 8.
- 41:35All of them. I think we're probably big guys
- 41:36off. It's alignment wrestlers that
- 41:39were trying to cut down to heavyweight, but I beat them, I
- 41:41beat them. That is my story as I ruined the
- 41:45field at AP. Well, not me personally.
- 41:47I just happened to be in the car.
- 41:49I'll, I'll plead that part of it.
- 41:51But there was nothing that we were going to do this.
- 41:53This wasn't some grand scheme. None of us were football players
- 41:56at that time. It was not that these football
- 41:58guys are coming down there. We made a mistake and then
- 42:01unfortunately it went a PS way. And I wonder if that's just that
- 42:04little difference in an 86 game that that just that little extra
- 42:07edge for the Falcons came from us.
- 42:09I remember you. Sharing this story with me a
- 42:11couple years ago as we were sitting there and you're like,
- 42:13you remember that game? I was, oh, yeah, I remember that
- 42:16game. And then you were remember what
- 42:18happened the night before. I was like you before you even
- 42:20shared the story. My eyes got big.
- 42:22You have got to be kidding me. That was you.
- 42:25That was. Us.
- 42:26That was us and a story that I never thought I'd tell on the
- 42:29air, but here we are only for you, Andy Pollock.
- 42:31Blake. Andy.
- 42:32Hey, it's been a lot of fun. Thank you guys so much for your
- 42:35time. More with these guys coming up
- 42:37down the hall. 96.9 FM for a wrestling coverage and then

- 42:51as off the bench. Thanks to Blake and to Andy once
- 42:54again for joining us here today. Ken will be back with us on
- 42:57Monday. Coming up tomorrow, Todd
- 42:59Bramelkamp will be hanging out with me.

- 43:08Thanks for being with us. It's Miller and Cotton on the
- 43:10Iowa Sports Radio Network.
