- 0:05Speaker 1: Hey, guys, were come back on normally so normal it
- 0:08Speaker 1: takes for women news it gets weird post Thanksgiving officially
- 0:12Speaker 1: Christmas season.
- 0:13Speaker 2: I'm Mary Kevin Neil. I am Carol Markowitz, and I
- 0:16Speaker 2: love Christmas, so I'm very excited about this, although again
- 0:19Speaker 2: I think we talked about it on a previous episode
- 0:21Speaker 2: where the lights are all up all over South Florida
- 0:25Speaker 2: since like I don't know, Halloween and the Christmas music
- 0:29Speaker 2: at TJ Max is playing NonStop, I mean for the
- 0:32Speaker 2: last month, so I'm very happy about all of that.
- 0:36Speaker 2: The Christmas. I don't know people who hate Christmas. I
- 0:38Speaker 2: can't even imagine who that might be, might not be,
- 0:40Speaker 2: but I can't get enough.
- 0:43Speaker 1: Yeah, it's a good time of year. It is, and
- 0:45Speaker 1: I usually start around Thanksgiving week. I try not to
- 0:48Speaker 1: do like beginning of November, like let Thanksgiving have its moment.
- 0:51Speaker 3: But we have officially moved on.
- 0:53Speaker 1: Here and we have a tree I love it about
- 0:57Speaker 1: to be decorated this week.
- 0:58Speaker 2: I also saw that you did a post over the
- 1:01Speaker 2: weekend about saying no to Elf on the shelf. I
- 1:05Speaker 2: really enjoyed that, even though it doesn't apply to me
- 1:07Speaker 2: very very much. They tried to bring it to Jews,
- 1:10Speaker 2: it was like, I don't even know Rabbi on the whatever,
- 1:13Speaker 2: I don't know, or like Shlomo on the I don't know.
- 1:16Speaker 2: But yeah, I didn't take no way i'd be doing that.
- 1:20Speaker 1: It's like, and it's the thing is, it's not even
- 1:22Speaker 1: I don't particularly like Elf on the shelf and some
- 1:24Speaker 1: people have issues with the big brotherism of it at
- 1:27Speaker 1: all because he's there like watching your kids to make
- 1:29Speaker 1: sure they behave and reporting back to annority figure in Santa.
- 1:34Speaker 3: However, I just think it's one of those things like I.
- 1:36Speaker 1: Want an extra daily duty of right making sure before
- 1:40Speaker 1: my kids are up to By the way, content warning
- 1:43Speaker 1: on this if you have kids listening. Yeah, but do
- 1:46Speaker 1: I want that on my plate giving. I'm doing plenty
- 1:49Speaker 1: of Christmas cheer without that, so feel free to leave something.
- 1:53Speaker 2: Yeah, you're bringing the magic in other ways, I am
- 1:57Speaker 2: fully with you. I you know, it's cute. I like
- 1:59Speaker 2: one friend post, you know, clever things that they do
- 2:02Speaker 2: with their alf on a shelf. But yeah, I wouldn't yes, either, Yeah,
- 2:05Speaker 2: I appreciated that. I just I liked your overall point.
- 2:08Speaker 2: Saying no to children is okay. I like a lot
- 2:11Speaker 2: of parents need to internalize that.
- 2:14Speaker 3: Yes, far more, far more than are doing it now.
- 2:17Speaker 3: I think so.
- 2:19Speaker 2: It was a big news week actually while we were away.
- 2:23Speaker 2: The very sad story from the last few days is
- 2:25Speaker 2: that two National Guard members were shot in Washington.
- 2:29Speaker 1: D C.
- 2:30Speaker 2: Romanula La Khanawall shot specialist Sarah Begstrom and allegedly picked
- 2:36Speaker 2: up Beckstrom's weapon and continued shooting at twenty four year
- 2:41Speaker 2: old Guard Sergeant Andrew Wolf. Beckstrom has died from her injuries,
- 2:45Speaker 2: Andrew Wolf remains in critical condition. It's a horrible story,
- 2:49Speaker 2: made even more horrible by the fact that it looks
- 2:53Speaker 2: like Lakanwall was radicalized in America, that he arrived in
- 2:58Speaker 2: the US potentially not radicalized, and picked up the radicalization
- 3:03Speaker 2: in his home of Bellingham, Washington.
- 3:06Speaker 1: Yeah, it sounds like he was a pretty highly vetted
- 3:10Speaker 1: actually person who worked with the military in Afghanistan, worked
- 3:15Speaker 1: in concert with the CIA, was a person who would
- 3:18Speaker 1: have been sort of passed through during the slap dash
- 3:23Speaker 1: withdrawal process because he had a badge that indicated he had.
- 3:27Speaker 3: Been through some of these processes.
- 3:29Speaker 1: And first of all, prayers for both of those families,
- 3:32Speaker 1: I think Wolf. There continue to be reports that Andy
- 3:36Speaker 1: Wolf is doing fairly well and that is looking promising,
- 3:40Speaker 1: but he is obviously still in the hospital.
- 3:42Speaker 3: There was also another Guard member who.
- 3:44Speaker 1: Apparently armed with a pocket knife, Yeah, took down the shooter,
- 3:49Speaker 1: So thank you to him. And then it's also made
- 3:52Speaker 1: more tragic by reactions which include up up into an
- 3:58Speaker 1: including Democrat lawmakers saying the real problem is that the
- 4:02Speaker 1: Guard was on the streets of DC and they shouldn't
- 4:05Speaker 1: have been there, implying that this provocation of merely having
- 4:10Speaker 1: uniformed honorable young men and women on the streets of
- 4:13Speaker 1: DC making things safer, yeah, is somehow justification for an
- 4:20Speaker 1: execution style ambush of them.
- 4:22Speaker 2: Right. Also, as if he wasn't going to shoot somebody else,
- 4:26Speaker 2: like as if he would only have accepted a National
- 4:29Speaker 2: Guard target. It's that's ridiculous. Yeah, there's a lot of
- 4:32Speaker 2: that in the last few days. It's just unfortunate that
- 4:37Speaker 2: this kind of thing is where their minds go. Instead
- 4:40Speaker 2: of saying, hey, violence is wrong, it's like, well, you know,
- 4:44Speaker 2: maybe Trump had something to do with it, because.
- 4:46Speaker 1: It's also weird to say they're like they were here unnecessarily.
- 4:49Speaker 3: All they're doing is picking up trash. It's not true.
- 4:51Speaker 1: The presence has made things safe in the city, whether
- 4:54Speaker 1: you think they should be there or not. But it
- 4:56Speaker 1: is weird to say there's nothing to do but pick
- 4:58Speaker 1: up trash in a city where people were just executed,
- 5:01Speaker 1: attempted executed in one case and actually successfully in.
- 5:04Speaker 3: Another in broad daylight. Like, perhaps we do have some things.
- 5:08Speaker 2: Yes, one or two things crime wise can be fixed
- 5:11Speaker 2: in your in Washington, d C. I was in DC.
- 5:14Speaker 2: I saw you right before Halloween, and I saw a
- 5:16Speaker 2: lot of National guardsmen on the street. I loved seeing them.
- 5:20Speaker 2: It did make me feel more safe and secure, and
- 5:23Speaker 2: I really appreciate them.
- 5:25Speaker 1: Yeah, and in my experience, just like unfailingly kind and
- 5:28Speaker 1: polite to people, like doing their thing without being obtrusive
- 5:33Speaker 1: at all.
- 5:34Speaker 2: Right, Yeah, they deserve far more respect than they're getting
- 5:37Speaker 2: from the left side of the aisle, and that's really unfortunate.
- 5:41Speaker 2: The other big story of the last few.
- 5:44Speaker 1: Days, can we ask real quick, can we have a
- 5:46Speaker 1: quick discussion of what this means for vetting of Afghan immigrants.
- 5:54Speaker 3: Yeah, what that looks like.
- 5:56Speaker 1: Trump of course is saying like I'm going to reevaluate
- 5:58Speaker 1: a bunch of this stuff. And I think a lot
- 5:59Speaker 1: of people are probably pretty comfortable.
- 6:02Speaker 3: With that move. I wonder, I do wonder how it
- 6:05Speaker 3: works and how it looks.
- 6:07Speaker 1: It cannot be denied that Biden skipped a bunch of
- 6:11Speaker 1: steps trying to get a bunch of people out of
- 6:13Speaker 1: Afghanistan out of a problem he created, right, right, and
- 6:18Speaker 1: we do need to reckon with that. It is not
- 6:21Speaker 1: the case that a bunch of Afghan nationals have been
- 6:24Speaker 1: involved in terroristic plots, but this.
- 6:27Speaker 3: One and another one was broken up this week.
- 6:31Speaker 1: In this afghanet will arrested over an alleged bomb threat
- 6:34Speaker 1: according to DHS. So if a lot, that's certainly an
- 6:39Speaker 1: escalation in what we've have been seeing. And if they're
- 6:42Speaker 1: being radicalized once they got here, that's let's try to
- 6:46Speaker 1: figure this out, as as Trump once famously said, let's
- 6:48Speaker 1: shut it down, joymicking this.
- 6:50Speaker 2: Out so we can figure out what's going on. Yep, Yeah,
- 6:55Speaker 2: that's absolutely right. Also, I've seen people blaming Trump for
- 7:00Speaker 2: Afghan nationals being in the US, and I'm sure that
- 7:02Speaker 2: that he's read the takes on that as well, so
- 7:06Speaker 2: he's like, Okay, you want to do this, let's really
- 7:09Speaker 2: shut things down, and I shall not.
- 7:11Speaker 1: Also, I know personally Afghan families who made it out
- 7:16Speaker 1: partly thanks to the work of friends of mine who
- 7:18Speaker 1: were former military who got in touch with the right
- 7:22Speaker 1: people and smuggled them into the right place because there
- 7:24Speaker 1: was no plan in writing. And those folks have integrated
- 7:27Speaker 1: in sort of amazing and beautiful ways into USC and
- 7:30Speaker 1: they have Thanksgiving dinners with my friends like this is.
- 7:33Speaker 1: There are two different stories, but the verification process was
- 7:39Speaker 1: not real and not what they would have been subjected
- 7:42Speaker 1: to in many other scenarios.
- 7:46Speaker 2: Right all around. The border story and just the immigration
- 7:50Speaker 2: story of the Biden years is so bad and continuing
- 7:54Speaker 2: to just have an effect on us all. I think
- 7:58Speaker 2: that it's very hard for us to get some sort
- 8:01Speaker 2: of reset where Americans are going to you know, be
- 8:05Speaker 2: pro immigration again, which we were for the majority of
- 8:09Speaker 2: time in this country. And I think that it's really
- 8:12Speaker 2: changed in the last few years because of how bad
- 8:14Speaker 2: things got and how open our border was and how
- 8:17Speaker 2: many people came in unvetted, and how we were not
- 8:19Speaker 2: supposed to ask about any of that, and you know,
- 8:23Speaker 2: I don't see that changing anytime soon. The other story
- 8:26Speaker 2: from the last few days, if we're doing straight news,
- 8:28Speaker 2: the Washington Post ran an anonymously sourced piece where Pete
- 8:33Speaker 2: Hegseth had ordered Seal Team six to execute a strike
- 8:37Speaker 2: against Narco terrorists in the Caribbean and he said to
- 8:42Speaker 2: quote kill them all, and an anonymous source told The
- 8:45Speaker 2: Washington Post that one of the commanders ordered a second
- 8:49Speaker 2: strike on a boat when the first one failed to
- 8:52Speaker 2: kill them all.
- 8:54Speaker 1: So these would have been if it happened, these would
- 8:56Speaker 1: have been defenseless people.
- 8:57Speaker 2: Yeah, clinging to.
- 8:58Speaker 1: The wreckage, sort of a double tap strike. Look, I'm
- 9:03Speaker 1: a little skeptical of the legality of these strikes period,
- 9:06Speaker 1: Like you sort of newly name somebody a terrorist threat
- 9:10Speaker 1: and then you can do what you want.
- 9:11Speaker 3: I'm willing to listen. I would like the justification to
- 9:14Speaker 3: be made, perhaps more thoroughly.
- 9:16Speaker 1: And then this comes up and I go, okay, well,
- 9:19Speaker 1: what's really going on here? And what was Hecces's response
- 9:22Speaker 1: when asked about this, Because my my first thought is, well,
- 9:25Speaker 1: who's reporting on this?
- 9:26Speaker 3: It's all anonymous.
- 9:28Speaker 1: You got Natasha Bertrand over at CNN plod on and saying, oh, yes,
- 9:32Speaker 1: this is real, and it's like, okay, well you were
- 9:33Speaker 1: like Queen of Russia Gates. I'm just not sure how
- 9:36Speaker 1: much I can.
- 9:37Speaker 2: Anonymous sources say, is never never a great start for CNN.
- 9:42Speaker 1: Yeah, that concerns me. But hegcess response was a sort
- 9:46Speaker 1: of a non denial denial.
- 9:47Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, I would have loved to see kind of more.
- 9:52Speaker 2: And he did, you know, he called it fake news.
- 9:54Speaker 2: He said, they're delivering more fabricated, inflammatory and derogatory reporting
- 9:58Speaker 2: to discredit our incredible or you're fighting to protect the homeland.
- 10:02Speaker 2: It was a long post on X. The reaction from
- 10:06Speaker 2: the left is to say, you're a war criminal and
- 10:09Speaker 2: we're going to prosecute you. Harry Sisson, who is you know,
- 10:14Speaker 2: the twenty three year old Democrat who all Democrats are
- 10:18Speaker 2: for some reason listening to tweeted. So to be clear,
- 10:21Speaker 2: you aren't denying the reporting and are confirming you killed
- 10:23Speaker 2: two defenseless people. I mean, obviously he did not confirm that.
- 10:27Speaker 2: We don't know if they were guilty or not, who
- 10:28Speaker 2: didn't pose an immediate threat. Instead of prosecuting them, we'll
- 10:31Speaker 2: see what a jury thinks during your trial in twenty nine, which, Harry,
- 10:36Speaker 2: bless your heart. If you don't know what's going to
- 10:39Speaker 2: happen in twenty twenty nine. Everybody in the Trump administration
- 10:42Speaker 2: is going to be pardoned because they learned a valuable
- 10:44Speaker 2: lesson from the Biden administration. You could just give blanket
- 10:47Speaker 2: pardons and it doesn't matter if they did anything. You
- 10:49Speaker 2: don't even need to specify any particular crimes, and you
- 10:52Speaker 2: don't even specify a year. You could just say last
- 10:55Speaker 2: ten years. Why not, you know, play stupid games, win
- 10:58Speaker 2: stupid prizes, don't have on that show trial.
- 11:01Speaker 1: This is an interesting wrinkle in this where people are like,
- 11:05Speaker 1: you see what Trump's abuse of the pardon system has
- 11:08Speaker 1: gotten us, And I'm like, wait, wait, wait, hold on.
- 11:11Speaker 1: Trump could have done what Biden did in his first term,
- 11:14Speaker 1: did not Biden did it, and now we have ratcheting
- 11:19Speaker 1: to equal Biden potentially by the way, potentially, So I
- 11:25Speaker 1: think we have to like pinpoint the origin of the
- 11:27Speaker 1: blanket pardon innovation from Biden. The hag sets response that
- 11:33Speaker 1: I do not like at all is when he tweeted
- 11:36Speaker 1: Franklin the Turtle in an AI produced children's book cover
- 11:42Speaker 1: for your Christmas list. Franklin target targets Narco terrorists and
- 11:46Speaker 1: it has sweet Franklin the Turtle hitten with a rocket
- 11:49Speaker 1: propelled grenade watch or some Narco terrorists.
- 11:53Speaker 3: We should act like adults about this. I don't.
- 11:56Speaker 2: I don't like it.
- 11:57Speaker 3: I know that meme life is where we are.
- 11:59Speaker 1: I know on the times we shouldn't be there, and
- 12:02Speaker 1: the federal government shouldn't be there, And you should deal
- 12:05Speaker 1: seriously with this, and you should make clear that this
- 12:07Speaker 1: is why you think the things you're doing are legal,
- 12:09Speaker 1: and here's why they're important for the American people.
- 12:11Speaker 2: Yeah, he did a little bit of both. But yeah,
- 12:13Speaker 2: I'm with you one hundred percent. I think it's not
- 12:16Speaker 2: the time for the meaning although we are to me,
- 12:19Speaker 2: we are to mean economy. I don't know what did
- 12:22Speaker 2: Franklin do.
- 12:24Speaker 3: I haven't seen.
- 12:26Speaker 2: Many years. I like it definitely triggered some nostalgia for me,
- 12:31Speaker 2: that Franklin Franklin taking out the Narco terrorists. I don't
- 12:35Speaker 2: know about the legality of it. I actually I think
- 12:39Speaker 2: I veer away from you because I think I don't
- 12:42Speaker 2: I don't see how it's not legal for the US
- 12:44Speaker 2: to take out what it would deem imminent threats. Obviously,
- 12:48Speaker 2: the second strike would be questionable because we can't just
- 12:52Speaker 2: you can't be going around shooting survivors. And I think
- 12:55Speaker 2: that that's that's that's the question here, like you, I
- 12:59Speaker 2: don't annym sources talking to Natasha bertrand not not really
- 13:04Speaker 2: who I'm going to believe here. We'll see how this
- 13:06Speaker 2: story plays out and we'll follow up on it here.
- 13:09Speaker 2: We'll be right back with more on Normally and a
- 13:11Speaker 2: story out of Minnesota that may end up being the
- 13:14Speaker 2: largest welfare fraud operation in American history.
- 13:18Speaker 1: Be right back, Oki joke Now on Normally, we traveled
- 13:24Speaker 1: to Tim Walts's Minnesota and we have a story out
- 13:27Speaker 1: of the New York Times, which, look, if you were
- 13:29Speaker 1: listening to Normally or reading right leaning journalists, you would
- 13:33Speaker 1: know about this story, and you would have known about
- 13:34Speaker 1: this story while Tim Walts was running on the ticket
- 13:37Speaker 1: with Kamala Harris. Nonetheless, the New York Times is now
- 13:41Speaker 1: it can be told ing about this how fraud swamped
- 13:44Speaker 1: Minnesota's social services system on Tim Waltz's watch.
- 13:48Speaker 3: Fascinating.
- 13:48Speaker 1: That would have been interesting a cole of months ago.
- 13:53Speaker 1: This is the beginning of the story. The fraud scandal
- 13:55Speaker 1: that rattled Minnesota was staggering in its scale and brazen.
- 13:58Speaker 1: This federal prosecutor was charged dozens of people with felonies,
- 14:01Speaker 1: accusing them of stealing hundreds of millions from a government
- 14:04Speaker 1: program meant to keep children fed during the.
- 14:07Speaker 3: COVID nineteen pandemic.
- 14:08Speaker 1: At first, many in the States saw the case as
- 14:10Speaker 1: a one off abuse during a health emergency, but as
- 14:13Speaker 1: new schemes targeting the state's generous safety net programs came
- 14:16Speaker 1: to light. So the deal is that they went searching
- 14:19Speaker 1: through this program that we had known about as the
- 14:21Speaker 1: biggest COVID fraud. Because Jim Garrity and others had reported
- 14:24Speaker 1: on this during the election. The New York Times didn't
- 14:27Speaker 1: find it interesting at that point. But now fifty nine
- 14:30Speaker 1: people have been prosecuted by the FEDS because once they
- 14:34Speaker 1: looked into one program, they found that all sorts of
- 14:37Speaker 1: programs were being exploited. In one case, providers were reimbursed
- 14:41Speaker 1: for assistance they claimed to have provided to people at
- 14:43Speaker 1: risk of homelessness. They didn't help anyone, just like they
- 14:46Speaker 1: didn't feed any children. In another program, aimed to provide
- 14:49Speaker 1: therapy for autistic children, prosecutors said providers recruited children in
- 14:53Speaker 1: Minneapolis's Somali community, falsely certifying them as qualifying for autism treatment,
- 14:58Speaker 1: and paying their parents' kickbacks for their cooperation. So it's
- 15:01Speaker 1: like every generous safety net. Oh yeah, it's referred to
- 15:06Speaker 1: and here as a Swedish style version of doing this
- 15:09Speaker 1: in Minnesota was exploited at every turn, and it was
- 15:13Speaker 1: largely minus I think seven or eight of the people
- 15:16Speaker 1: prosecuted within the Somali American community.
- 15:19Speaker 2: That's right. I think Chris Rufo deserves a lot of
- 15:22Speaker 2: credit here for breaking this story open. He has been
- 15:26Speaker 2: just all over it and I think he basically bullied
- 15:30Speaker 2: the New York Times into getting into this. So props
- 15:33Speaker 2: to Chris Rufo. It's crazy because when this story first
- 15:37Speaker 2: started hitting, was like people on the left were saying
- 15:42Speaker 2: it's racist or it's you know, somehow anti immigrant to
- 15:45Speaker 2: point out these scams. I mean, let me tell you,
- 15:48Speaker 2: in the Russian community in Brooklyn, there were definitely, I mean,
- 15:52Speaker 2: I know for sure scam various different scams going on,
- 15:56Speaker 2: and every time some story hit, the press would all
- 15:59Speaker 2: be like, please don't be from the Russian community, like
- 16:02Speaker 2: it is embarrassing and it should be something that people
- 16:06Speaker 2: would want to root out and not care who is
- 16:10Speaker 2: involved or how or any of that.
- 16:12Speaker 1: Well, and here's the thing is that when people start
- 16:16Speaker 1: reacting to a story like this, it's a tell if
- 16:19Speaker 1: the reaction is only you can't say all of us
- 16:23Speaker 1: did this, and it's like okay, fine, nobody's saying all.
- 16:25Speaker 2: Right, who said that? Yeah, the like, are you.
- 16:28Speaker 1: Not concerned that this record breaking fraud happened in your community?
- 16:33Speaker 1: And this is where you get to some of the
- 16:35Speaker 1: woke trap here, which is that a lot of the
- 16:38Speaker 1: reason that this wasn't caught sooner, that people ignored red
- 16:41Speaker 1: flags is because they were afraid of being accused of racism.
- 16:46Speaker 1: There's a quote in here it says, there's a perception
- 16:48Speaker 1: that forcefully tackling this issue might cause political backlash among
- 16:52Speaker 1: the Somali community, which is a core voting block for Democrats.
- 16:56Speaker 1: They also, by the way, once this food program one
- 16:59Speaker 1: went to trial, the defendants tried to bribe a juror
- 17:04Speaker 1: with one hundred and k in a bag. Yeah, and
- 17:08Speaker 1: the note attached to the bag said that wrong, said like,
- 17:11Speaker 1: don't be racist.
- 17:12Speaker 3: Here's okay, Oh my god.
- 17:14Speaker 2: Yeah, they're really trying that.
- 17:17Speaker 1: When the fear of racism overrides the need to take
- 17:19Speaker 1: care of taxpayer's money to this degree, you are in
- 17:23Speaker 1: a very bad place.
- 17:25Speaker 3: Walls. Of course, by the way, did you see you
- 17:26Speaker 3: tweeted this weekend. He's like, there will be no pardons
- 17:29Speaker 3: for this. You were on watch this whole time.
- 17:34Speaker 2: Right right, Well, the Minnesota Department of Human Service employees
- 17:38Speaker 2: put out a banger of a tweet and said Tim
- 17:42Speaker 2: Walls is one hundred percent responsible for massive fraud in Minnesota.
- 17:46Speaker 2: It's several hundred words long, so you have to read
- 17:50Speaker 2: it for yourself. But they end up saying we can't
- 17:53Speaker 2: fight fraud in Minnesota alone. Hence why we're appealing to
- 17:56Speaker 2: the federal level of government for their help. We need
- 17:59Speaker 2: all the help you can get. As Tim Walls agency
- 18:01Speaker 2: leaders have upped their brazen approach and covering up their
- 18:05Speaker 2: knowledge of fraud. It's wild that they're openly saying. They
- 18:09Speaker 2: said Tim Walls is dishonest, lacks ethics and integrity, has
- 18:12Speaker 2: poor leadership skills, that has never taken accountability for his
- 18:15Speaker 2: role in fraud. And they say that they had whistleblowers
- 18:19Speaker 2: that were retaliated against, and it's just it goes on
- 18:22Speaker 2: and on.
- 18:23Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 18:25Speaker 1: Lisa Damouth is the Republican and current Minnesota House speaker
- 18:28Speaker 1: running against Waltz for his third term.
- 18:31Speaker 3: Is what he's running for because.
- 18:32Speaker 1: He's overseen this success. So Sally forward and she of
- 18:36Speaker 1: course is noticing this fraud, which is racism in and
- 18:39Speaker 1: of itself. Yeah, she's trying to make this point to
- 18:42Speaker 1: the people of Minnesota, and it just at some point
- 18:45Speaker 1: like how much are you okay with being builked? How
- 18:50Speaker 1: much are you okay with the government going Well, we're
- 18:54Speaker 1: trying to help people, and this is the cost of
- 18:56Speaker 1: doing business.
- 18:57Speaker 3: Really, the cost of doing business.
- 18:58Speaker 1: Is billions and billions of dollars one of the programs here,
- 19:03Speaker 1: because so many people were fabricated to help the quote
- 19:07Speaker 1: unquote who were not helped, the budget went from like
- 19:11Speaker 1: two million to one hundred and four million in the space.
- 19:13Speaker 3: Of a year. So it's just like funneling cash.
- 19:17Speaker 1: And one of Rufo's points is that there is some
- 19:19Speaker 1: question about how much of these remittances go back to
- 19:22Speaker 1: Somalia to fund some really bad stuff there.
- 19:25Speaker 2: Yeah, that's the you know, question two is where does
- 19:28Speaker 2: this money go? And who are we helping here? It's
- 19:32Speaker 2: bonkers that something of this level went on for so long.
- 19:36Speaker 2: And look, you know, conservatives are against government funding of
- 19:40Speaker 2: lots of things. We're against growing the size of government.
- 19:43Speaker 2: A lot of it is just this kind of thing
- 19:46Speaker 2: that it leads to unprecedented fraud, and the more money
- 19:50Speaker 2: in the system, the more waste and fraud that's possible.
- 19:53Speaker 1: So here we are, and you also become a magnet
- 19:56Speaker 1: for people who are willing to exploit the system because
- 19:59Speaker 1: they see this is like such a great gig over here.
- 20:02Speaker 1: I don't have to feed any children or help any
- 20:04Speaker 1: autistic children, or.
- 20:06Speaker 3: How's the homeless at all?
- 20:07Speaker 1: I can just go to Minnesota and say give me
- 20:10Speaker 1: millions of dollars and they'll just do it.
- 20:14Speaker 3: Seems like a problem.
- 20:15Speaker 2: Yeah, all right, well.
- 20:18Speaker 3: Well thanks for noticing New York Times.
- 20:19Speaker 2: That's pretty much this story. I know New York Times
- 20:22Speaker 2: finally did the right thing, and they are getting criticism
- 20:25Speaker 2: by the way for this. So New York Times only
- 20:28Speaker 2: allow to report what the very leftist base wants them
- 20:31Speaker 2: to report. Of course, all right, we'll continue following this
- 20:35Speaker 2: story also, and we will be right back with a
- 20:38Speaker 2: fun little topic. Football. Let's talk about football. What a
- 20:41Speaker 2: good week? Football? Be right back, We are back on
- 20:49Speaker 2: normally where Mary Katherine him and I. I don't know
- 20:52Speaker 2: why I said your last name. Mary Katherine and I
- 20:55Speaker 2: both have new ten year olds. My youngest and your
- 21:00Speaker 2: second of turn ten. This last week. My ten year
- 21:04Speaker 2: old has the same theme for his birthday party every
- 21:07Speaker 2: single year, and that is the Dallas Cowboys in some fashion.
- 21:12Speaker 2: I will tell you a lot of years, November late
- 21:15Speaker 2: November is not a great time to be a Cowboys fan.
- 21:18Speaker 2: Yet we break out all the Cowboys stuff anyway, We
- 21:21Speaker 2: put up the signs, we get the balloons. He does
- 21:24Speaker 2: not care we are on those horrible, terrible years. He's
- 21:28Speaker 2: still Dallas Cowboys all the way. On his birthday. This birthday, however,
- 21:32Speaker 2: was amazing. The Dallas Cowboys, for those that don't know,
- 21:37Speaker 2: beat both teams that played in the Super Bowl last
- 21:40Speaker 2: year this week, just this week, it was amazing.
- 21:44Speaker 3: What a week in our weeks.
- 21:45Speaker 1: Yeah, I was watching, like, wow, what a Thanksgiving week
- 21:50Speaker 1: for Sorry the Lions.
- 21:51Speaker 2: I really I was rooting for the Lions on Thanksgiving.
- 21:54Speaker 2: You know, there are Thanksgiving buddies, and.
- 21:58Speaker 1: Even on decent years for the Lions, it's a you know,
- 22:01Speaker 1: it's a higher it's low probability that there's going to
- 22:04Speaker 1: be a win on Thanksgiving a day, is my feeling
- 22:07Speaker 1: after having watched for many years. I'm, of course, a
- 22:09Speaker 1: more of a college football fan Georgia Bulldog's doing well,
- 22:13Speaker 1: have to play in the I mean, excuse me, our
- 22:16Speaker 1: privilege to play in the SEC Championship game this weekend.
- 22:20Speaker 1: There's a thing now where because the college football playoff
- 22:23Speaker 1: is upcoming, threading the needle so that you're good enough
- 22:26Speaker 1: to get to the playoff, but maybe get spared the
- 22:28Speaker 1: crushing SEC Championship game, which is like just tough and
- 22:32Speaker 1: gonna be hard and gonna maybe have injuries, is like
- 22:35Speaker 1: what people are trying to do, and we just were
- 22:38Speaker 1: just too good.
- 22:38Speaker 3: We're gonna end up at the championship game again with Alabama.
- 22:41Speaker 3: But that's not the story. Now, what's the story.
- 22:44Speaker 1: By the way, I do appreciate that our coach is like, hey,
- 22:47Speaker 1: if I was worried about injuries, we wouldn't even practice
- 22:49Speaker 1: next week.
- 22:50Speaker 3: We got a scared team.
- 22:51Speaker 1: So anyway, elsewhere in college football, it was the real
- 22:56Speaker 1: housewives of college football. In the SEC, there are several
- 23:00Speaker 1: coaching openings, so there's going to be musical chairs going on.
- 23:04Speaker 1: Florida is getting rid of their coach, LSU already got
- 23:07Speaker 1: rid of their coach mid season, and over at Ole
- 23:10Speaker 1: Miss is a man named Lane Kiffin who has been
- 23:13Speaker 1: a head coach several places, and he's been at ole
- 23:15Speaker 1: Miss for about four or five years and done quite well.
- 23:18Speaker 1: And they have an eleven and one season and they're
- 23:21Speaker 1: about to go to the college football playoffs and have
- 23:23Speaker 1: a shot at the national championship.
- 23:25Speaker 3: But Lane Kiffin's looking around. He's like, where looking where
- 23:28Speaker 3: could I land? Could I land somewhere else for more money?
- 23:32Speaker 3: And so what he does is leave everybody in the
- 23:34Speaker 3: hook for a month covering the Lane Kiffin will he
- 23:37Speaker 3: won't his story, Yeah, while LSU and Florida woo him,
- 23:42Speaker 3: and over Thanksgiving weekend after ole Miss beats it in
- 23:45Speaker 3: state rival Mississippi State, he's like, I'll give you guys
- 23:48Speaker 3: an answer. I'll give you guys an answer, you know,
- 23:51Speaker 3: in a day.
- 23:53Speaker 1: And then again once again, everybody's on the hook following
- 23:56Speaker 1: the Lane kiffn story. At one point it escalates because
- 23:58Speaker 1: a podcaster about Miss football calls Lane Kiffin a hoe.
- 24:02Speaker 3: He says, well, he says, no, I should not say that.
- 24:07Speaker 1: Exactly what he did was expertly deploy a ludicrous lyric
- 24:11Speaker 1: learne of Lane Kiffen because he said, you can't make
- 24:14Speaker 1: a hoe into a housewife. Yea referring to the fact
- 24:16Speaker 1: that Lane Kiffin likes to jump around and that perhaps
- 24:19Speaker 1: he would was never meant to be a committed head
- 24:22Speaker 1: coach at all Miss Cold. So Lane Kiffin gets mad
- 24:26Speaker 1: about this, I think because it hit a little close
- 24:28Speaker 1: to home, confronts the podcaster in person at the in
- 24:33Speaker 1: state rivalry game, at which point the podcaster looked, frankly
- 24:37Speaker 1: pretty scared. I would have defended myself and been like, like,
- 24:39Speaker 1: my point is valid. You're gonna leave right.
- 24:41Speaker 3: My point is valid.
- 24:42Speaker 2: Not all podcasters are the same. Let's just talk about that.
- 24:46Speaker 1: Nonetheless, because there was a ludicrous lyric involved and sec football.
- 24:50Speaker 2: I can't action. Yeah, this story is made for Mary Catherine.
- 24:54Speaker 1: And Kiffin, it must be said, has left the NFL
- 25:00Speaker 1: Oakland Raiders' head coaching job in a fuss where the
- 25:04Speaker 1: owner called him a liar and that he was disrespecting
- 25:08Speaker 1: the institution. And he was like, no, I didn't do
- 25:10Speaker 1: anything wrong. They're like, now you're fired, and an arbitrator
- 25:12Speaker 1: came in was like, yeah, he definitely did something wrong.
- 25:14Speaker 3: He's fired. Son, he's out. Yeah.
- 25:16Speaker 1: He goes to the Tennessee Volunteers for one season before
- 25:21Speaker 1: he jumps once again to something better to usc and
- 25:26Speaker 1: southern California. He works there for a couple of years,
- 25:29Speaker 1: and then jumps over I believe, to Alabama at that point,
- 25:33Speaker 1: where he works for two seasons, and then Saban lets
- 25:35Speaker 1: him go before a championship game because he's so much
- 25:39Speaker 1: drama and he took.
- 25:40Speaker 3: Yet another job, damn, and you gotta go.
- 25:44Speaker 1: And so this time around, by the way, when he
- 25:47Speaker 1: left Tennessee, there were riots at Racio, Tennessee because people
- 25:50Speaker 1: were so angry. So this time around, the day he's
- 25:53Speaker 1: supposed to make the decision, he pushes it off like
- 25:55Speaker 1: three times. He's making negotiations like I should be able
- 25:59Speaker 1: to coach through the championship, which makes no sense because
- 26:02Speaker 1: then you get to take players and coaches and like
- 26:05Speaker 1: wheedle them and get them lured over to your new
- 26:08Speaker 1: place with you, which is a conference, right.
- 26:09Speaker 2: I can't wait to see where this goes.
- 26:11Speaker 1: And then he takes the LSU job, gets kicked out
- 26:15Speaker 1: on his butt. LSU sends a private plane to come
- 26:18Speaker 1: pick him up at the airport, and the ole Miss
- 26:21Speaker 1: fans are out there given middle fingers and booze watching
- 26:25Speaker 1: him leave with part of the coaching staff while his
- 26:28Speaker 1: players are back in the athletic department, Like, what is
- 26:32Speaker 1: happening to us? So the hoe.
- 26:34Speaker 3: Goes to Lsu.
- 26:35Speaker 2: Wow, Mary Catherine using the home word.
- 26:39Speaker 1: And my favorite Real Housewives detail is that they put
- 26:43Speaker 1: his clothes on the street outside his house.
- 26:47Speaker 3: What are you gonna do in Oxford? MISSOSII? It was
- 26:50Speaker 3: a lot, Carol. I do think I.
- 26:53Speaker 2: Haven't heard about any of this, like not even in passing,
- 26:57Speaker 2: not even I had none of it.
- 27:00Speaker 1: Well, now you know, now I know if Lane Kiffin
- 27:02Speaker 1: comes up, And by the way, I do think this
- 27:04Speaker 1: ludicrous lyric is going to follow him his entire career.
- 27:08Speaker 3: Like he's also famous for like covorting with.
- 27:13Speaker 1: Mid twenties co eds and such, so he's like on
- 27:16Speaker 1: many levels, one might say the analogy is working anyway, I.
- 27:21Speaker 2: Wish you were Lane Kiffen.
- 27:23Speaker 1: Yeah, oh, poor Lane in four years Lsu, just like,
- 27:28Speaker 1: remember who you hired, because.
- 27:31Speaker 2: At the end of the day, can't make a whole housewife.
- 27:35Speaker 1: I mean, honestly, the thing that I noticed during this
- 27:38Speaker 1: is like he's a little trumpy in that he is
- 27:41Speaker 1: raw talent, and he's clearly magnetic, and he makes these
- 27:44Speaker 1: programs work for short periods of time, and he is
- 27:47Speaker 1: posting through it.
- 27:49Speaker 3: Like you can't control that man. He is going to
- 27:52Speaker 3: do what Lane's gonna do.
- 27:54Speaker 2: So all right, where the story do we Where do
- 27:56Speaker 2: we watch this?
- 27:57Speaker 1: Is it some Bravo or you gotta put you got
- 28:00Speaker 1: to pull up the live stream of the Oxford, Mississippi
- 28:03Speaker 1: Airport because that.
- 28:04Speaker 2: Was I think I'm going to have to do that
- 28:05Speaker 2: right after this recording. But Lank Kiffin, here you are
- 28:08Speaker 2: on Normally we don't cover a lot of inside drama
- 28:11Speaker 2: of college sports, but this was a good one. Thank
- 28:14Speaker 2: you for sharing drama all the time. Yeah, I love it.
- 28:17Speaker 2: I mean I think we should do more, you know,
- 28:20Speaker 2: Desperate Housewives it comes to sports moments on the show.
- 28:24Speaker 3: We should, I should make a trailer should.
