- 0:30SPEAKER_01: I think we're done.
- 0:32SPEAKER_01: We just so we're live on Instagram.
- 0:34SPEAKER_01: We're just now going live on the podcast.
- 0:36SPEAKER_01: So you can say that again.
- 0:37SPEAKER_01: Say it again.
- 0:38SPEAKER_02: Welcome to Beyond the White Code.
- 0:40SPEAKER_02: Another episode.
- 0:41SPEAKER_02: Another episode.
- 0:42SPEAKER_02: I think I'm gonna do my um my different voice today.
- 0:46SPEAKER_01: Like a very masculine voice.
- 0:48SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 0:48SPEAKER_01: All right.
- 0:49SPEAKER_01: Um I need this.
- 0:50SPEAKER_01: It has been girls been a week.
- 0:53SPEAKER_01: All right, tell me about let's start with you.
- 0:54SPEAKER_01: How was your weekend?
- 0:55SPEAKER_01: How was your week?
- 0:56SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 0:57SPEAKER_01: So the weekend was really fun.
- 1:00SPEAKER_02: What'd you do?
- 1:01SPEAKER_02: Um I actually trained uh an incredible nurse practitioner.
- 1:05SPEAKER_02: Shout out, Lisha.
- 1:07SPEAKER_01: I know I saw your story.
- 1:08SPEAKER_02: She's so adorable.
- 1:10SPEAKER_02: You know, she's just got the best personality and so receptive.
- 1:13SPEAKER_01: What were you going over in your training?
- 1:15SPEAKER_02: So we were doing sculpture.
- 1:17SPEAKER_02: So I don't know if um I shared this before, but Hugh is top 100 in the nation for sculpture.
- 1:25SPEAKER_02: Congrats.
- 1:26SPEAKER_02: Uh thank you.
- 1:26SPEAKER_02: And what that basically means is it's just we use a lot of it, right?
- 1:30SPEAKER_02: Yeah so um we're very well versed and shout out to our providers that we have.
- 1:35SPEAKER_02: But um, you know, Alicia was listening to one of our podcasts when I was talking about.
- 1:41SPEAKER_02: Friend of the show.
- 1:42SPEAKER_02: Yes, and she she she heard me talk about uh the histology and the way I do things and how I do didactics, which is something that some trainers don't do, but she's a professor at UC.
- 1:54SPEAKER_02: Well, and so she she actually appreciated that.
- 1:57SPEAKER_02: So yeah.
- 1:58SPEAKER_02: So it was interesting because uh she works at another med spa, which is uh about 35 minutes away from here.
- 2:04SPEAKER_02: And um I think she even expressed, like sometimes, you know, when I'm training um other practices, they're generally maybe an hour and a half, two hours away, but literally I would say they're up the street, right?
- 2:15SPEAKER_02: Like nice, yeah.
- 2:16SPEAKER_02: And so some some people choose to not train within, I guess, their area of competition, but I don't feel like that.
- 2:23SPEAKER_02: And I think the same way.
- 2:25SPEAKER_01: I always feel like no, no, no, because I don't see it as competition, it makes you the authority, it makes you the authority, but also I learned so much from her.
- 2:32SPEAKER_02: Yeah, and um she is just so passionate about the industry and she wants to make such a great change.
- 2:39SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 2:39SPEAKER_02: And she's going to be, she's gonna be a game changer.
- 2:42SPEAKER_02: So I'm really proud of her.
- 2:43SPEAKER_02: So thank you.
- 2:44SPEAKER_02: So you did that.
- 2:44SPEAKER_01: What else did you do?
- 2:45SPEAKER_01: Anything for fun?
- 2:46SPEAKER_01: Did you go on any dates?
- 2:47SPEAKER_01: No, one day, you guys, one day I'm gonna get her to crack and spill some tea, but not today.
- 2:54SPEAKER_02: Not today, not today.
- 2:56SPEAKER_01: Did you go to dinner?
- 2:57SPEAKER_02: I made dinner.
- 2:58SPEAKER_02: I made, let me just say that I made dinner, and that included golf, shrimp, um, filet, Alaskan crab legs, and uh, we made that all at once, yeah.
- 3:11SPEAKER_01: Were you feeding a small football team?
- 3:13SPEAKER_01: I don't even understand.
- 3:14SPEAKER_02: You can go out of the way when you feel like it's appropriate, you know?
- 3:17SPEAKER_02: So lamb, lamb, filet, and alaskan crab legs.
- 3:22SPEAKER_01: So, like by the way, lamb or or like a lamb chops.
- 3:27SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 3:27SPEAKER_02: But can I just say something?
- 3:28SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 3:29SPEAKER_02: What in the we are in the wrong industry.
- 3:32SPEAKER_02: What I bought four Alaskan crab legs.
- 3:35SPEAKER_02: I'm going to I'm just gonna have you guess how much I paid for four Alaskan crab legs.
- 3:39SPEAKER_00: Oh, I can't even imagine what's like 60 bucks.
- 3:42SPEAKER_00: Are you kidding?
- 3:43SPEAKER_00: No, how much?
- 3:44SPEAKER_00: Like Alaskan crab legs?
- 3:45SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it cost me$400.
- 3:48SPEAKER_00: Again, were you feeding a small army?
- 3:50SPEAKER_02: No, I literally bought four Alaskan crab legs, and it was$400 at John.
- 3:57SPEAKER_02: If you don't believe me, go to Jungle Gems, which is where I got them.
- 4:00SPEAKER_02: I mean, they were great quality.
- 4:02SPEAKER_02: And I looked at the guy behind the counter and I'm like, this is Did you put like a block of cement in there?
- 4:09SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 4:09SPEAKER_02: I mean, are you kidding?
- 4:10SPEAKER_02: $400.
- 4:12SPEAKER_02: And all I could think about was better be something good in return.
- 4:15SPEAKER_02: That's all I have to say.
- 4:17SPEAKER_02: My goodness.
- 4:18SPEAKER_02: $400.
- 4:19SPEAKER_00: I hope the crab legs cooked you breakfast the next day.
- 4:22SPEAKER_00: Right?
- 4:22SPEAKER_00: That's what I'm saying.
- 4:23SPEAKER_00: There were special crab legs.
- 4:25SPEAKER_00: There's special crab legs, but it was your dinner good.
- 4:28SPEAKER_02: My dinner was amazing.
- 4:29SPEAKER_02: I love to cook.
- 4:30SPEAKER_02: That's my love language.
- 4:31SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 4:31SPEAKER_02: I just hate cleaning up.
- 4:33SPEAKER_02: But you didn't do anything with iceberg lettuce because you know everyone's getting parasites from lettuce.
- 4:37SPEAKER_02: Somebody is in trouble because didn't they say that it was from like a particular brand and it wasn't?
- 4:42SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 4:43SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 4:44SPEAKER_02: No, thank you.
- 4:44SPEAKER_02: Not eating iceberg lettuce.
- 4:46SPEAKER_02: Yeah, don't eat iceberg.
- 4:47SPEAKER_01: All right, what else did you do?
- 4:48SPEAKER_01: Anything fun?
- 4:49SPEAKER_02: No, and pretty much has work been work has been good.
- 4:52SPEAKER_02: I think my focus obviously is our summit coming up.
- 4:56SPEAKER_01: Which we just we just literally got off.
- 4:59SPEAKER_01: So, right before we record now, on Wednesdays, we have a meeting with our whole B3 team.
- 5:04SPEAKER_01: Shout out to Olivia, Libby, and Erin.
- 5:06SPEAKER_01: Best team there.
- 5:08SPEAKER_01: Amazing.
- 5:08SPEAKER_01: We just literally sit there and we're like, great, you guys did a great job.
- 5:11SPEAKER_01: We're really mad.
- 5:12SPEAKER_01: Cool.
- 5:13SPEAKER_01: So we're very excited.
- 5:14SPEAKER_01: We are T minus two months, almost two months exactly.
- 5:18SPEAKER_01: So pumped for that, which I can't believe.
- 5:21SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 5:21SPEAKER_01: So that means I'm like T minus two months and two weeks from a marathon, and I am not in marathon shape.
- 5:28SPEAKER_01: So I need to get my butt in shape.
- 5:30SPEAKER_01: I have a race actually this weekend.
- 5:31SPEAKER_01: So hopefully that'll build some confidence.
- 5:34SPEAKER_01: It's just the Queen City 5K on Saturday, but I'm doing it as part of a 16-mile run.
- 5:40SPEAKER_01: So this has always been for me a good confidence builder where I live five miles from like a lot of start lines because everything's at Paul Brown, which is the football stadium here in Cincinnati.
- 5:50SPEAKER_01: So I'm gonna run to the race, race my 5k, run home, and like figure out how many miles I need to round out 16, but I'm definitely not ready for 26.2.
- 6:00SPEAKER_01: That's a little terrifying.
- 6:01SPEAKER_01: So story for another day.
- 6:02SPEAKER_01: Your girl needs skin shape.
- 6:03SPEAKER_01: I'm sure it's not gonna be a problem for you.
- 6:05SPEAKER_01: You are but work is going well.
- 6:09SPEAKER_02: Work is going well.
- 6:10SPEAKER_02: Um, it's slower in the summertime, but it also gives me the opportunity to hone in and have great discussions with my patients, uh learning a lot about their summers.
- 6:20SPEAKER_02: And I hear a lot of moms, I'm sure if there are moms out there listening, your whole summer is about your children.
- 6:26SPEAKER_02: Yes, right?
- 6:27SPEAKER_02: Yes, until they get out of the house.
- 6:29SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 6:29SPEAKER_02: So lots of moms trying to find all types of camps to send their kids.
- 6:33SPEAKER_01: Yeah, to keep them busy.
- 6:35SPEAKER_02: And I think what August is around the corner.
- 6:37SPEAKER_02: They're about to go back to school.
- 6:39SPEAKER_01: I know.
- 6:39SPEAKER_01: They'll be there before we know it.
- 6:40SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 6:41SPEAKER_01: So what do we got planned for today?
- 6:43SPEAKER_01: Yeah, we've got some QA questions.
- 6:46SPEAKER_01: So we're gonna start.
- 6:48SPEAKER_01: We have a variety of topics.
- 6:50SPEAKER_01: So we're gonna go through skincare.
- 6:51SPEAKER_01: Here, InstaLink.
- 6:53SPEAKER_01: There.
- 6:53SPEAKER_01: There you go.
- 6:54SPEAKER_01: We're gonna go through skincare, peptides, hormones, I don't even know, lifestyle.
- 6:58SPEAKER_01: We got a lot of everything.
- 7:00SPEAKER_01: So the first kind of set are mostly for you.
- 7:02SPEAKER_01: Thank goodness.
- 7:03SPEAKER_01: So I get to ask and you get to answer.
- 7:05SPEAKER_00: All right.
- 7:05SPEAKER_01: All right.
- 7:06SPEAKER_01: If you could only choose one aesthetic treatment to invest in every year, what would it be and why?
- 7:11SPEAKER_02: And they can do it multiple times, right?
- 7:12SPEAKER_01: Yeah, but it's only one thing.
- 7:14SPEAKER_02: I'm gonna say OG microneedling.
- 7:16SPEAKER_02: I think I've expressed this in the past.
- 7:18SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 7:19SPEAKER_02: So, you know, your skin is a biologic organ, basically.
- 7:24SPEAKER_02: It's the largest organ on your body.
- 7:26SPEAKER_02: And I love microneedling because it really works on the histological response.
- 7:32SPEAKER_02: So we can create collagen, have better cellular signaling, you generate fresh new skin.
- 7:40SPEAKER_02: It helps with tone and texture of the skin, helps with fine lines.
- 7:44SPEAKER_02: So it would be my go-to.
- 7:45SPEAKER_02: But I would want my patients, if they could only afford to do microneedling, I would want them to do it every six to eight weeks.
- 7:51SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 7:51SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 7:52SPEAKER_02: For an entire year.
- 7:52SPEAKER_02: For an entire year.
- 7:53SPEAKER_02: I think they would see amazing results.
- 7:55SPEAKER_01: What's one skincare product almost everyone is wasting money on and one that's absolutely worth the investment?
- 8:02SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 8:02SPEAKER_01: So I would say a cleanser.
- 8:05SPEAKER_02: So interesting.
- 8:06SPEAKER_00: So basically that's what you waste money on.
- 8:09SPEAKER_02: I mean I you know, cleansers are cleansers, right?
- 8:12SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah.
- 8:12SPEAKER_01: Obviously, you want to make it make up everything.
- 8:14SPEAKER_02: So there's some fancy cleansers out there that say that they have different beads and things at different like with exfoliating things or active ingredients.
- 8:24SPEAKER_02: I think for me, when you think about again going back to the science of what has to happen with skin, right?
- 8:30SPEAKER_02: You're just trying to remove dirt and debris.
- 8:32SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 8:33SPEAKER_02: So, and I think that pretty much, if as long as you're not allergic to the ingredient and the skincare, you can choose something that's gentle, that's going to be effective.
- 8:42SPEAKER_02: And you can sometimes you might need to double cleanse to get that.
- 8:44SPEAKER_01: I love the double cleanse.
- 8:46SPEAKER_01: I like to cleanse and then exfoliate.
- 8:48SPEAKER_01: That's like one of my favorite.
- 8:49SPEAKER_01: All right, then what's one that's worth the investment?
- 8:51SPEAKER_01: One product.
- 8:52SPEAKER_02: You know, I would say that's absolutely worth the investment.
- 8:57SPEAKER_02: It's part of my quad squad.
- 8:59SPEAKER_02: And I'm going to have to say the peptide.
- 9:02SPEAKER_02: Yes.
- 9:03SPEAKER_02: Which one is that?
- 9:04SPEAKER_02: This one is um the peptide concentrate by ZO.
- 9:08SPEAKER_02: So you're gonna say Zo growth factor.
- 9:10SPEAKER_02: I love them all.
- 9:11SPEAKER_02: Okay, but this one is very simple.
- 9:13SPEAKER_02: So is it a serum?
- 9:14SPEAKER_02: It's a serum, and it's the first thing.
- 9:16SPEAKER_01: You say serum funny.
- 9:17SPEAKER_01: Say serum like serum, like selective estrogen receptor modulator, not serum, S-E-S-U.
- 9:23SPEAKER_01: Serum U S.
- 9:24SPEAKER_02: What am I saying?
- 9:24SPEAKER_02: SERM.
- 9:25SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it's a serum.
- 9:27SPEAKER_01: There's two sperm?
- 9:29SPEAKER_01: No, sperm is one.
- 9:31SPEAKER_01: Serum.
- 9:32SPEAKER_01: Oh my god, you guys.
- 9:33SPEAKER_01: All right.
- 9:34SPEAKER_01: I need comments.
- 9:36SPEAKER_01: Caitlin's gonna kill me.
- 9:38SPEAKER_02: Well, I love the serum because it has to do with the molecular size of the peptide.
- 9:44SPEAKER_01: I don't even know this one.
- 9:46SPEAKER_01: So you're up to afterwards, send me the link.
- 9:48SPEAKER_01: I'm gonna put it in the show notes so people can buy it and try it.
- 9:51SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 9:51SPEAKER_01: You have a bougie budget.
- 9:53SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 9:53SPEAKER_01: It's it's it's a little review.
- 9:55SPEAKER_02: It's actually little uh a little bit pricey, and I will tell you why I love it so much.
- 10:00SPEAKER_02: I think that as we talk about true full rejuvenation, we have to understand there's like a regenerative phase that has to happen for you to like repair your skin, right?
- 10:10SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 10:10SPEAKER_02: And I as we age and as we have inflammation in our skin and we have radicals in our skin, um, it's really hard to get into that molecular space where that there's like cellular communication.
- 10:22SPEAKER_02: So these peptides have the ability to really go into these like small molecular spaces and really do great things like improving cellular communication, ATP production, all of energy.
- 10:35SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah.
- 10:35SPEAKER_02: Energy denacy triphosphate.
- 10:38SPEAKER_01: You're wondering what ATP is.
- 10:39SPEAKER_01: So ZO serum.
- 10:41SPEAKER_01: Serum serum peptide.
- 10:43SPEAKER_01: Perfect.
- 10:44SPEAKER_01: All right, our neuromodulators, which that's like Botox.
- 10:48SPEAKER_01: So Botox is a brand technically, but just sport zoom in better started early for prevention, or should people wait until they actually have wrinkles?
- 10:55SPEAKER_01: That's a good question.
- 10:56SPEAKER_01: I like that one.
- 10:57SPEAKER_01: Whoever asked that, thank you.
- 10:58SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I will say this you will have wrinkles regardless.
- 11:03SPEAKER_02: Okay, except right now, except for right now.
- 11:06SPEAKER_01: Megan is so if you're not so if you are just listening, I highly encourage frozen.
- 11:13SPEAKER_01: The Spotify video or look on YouTube.
- 11:15SPEAKER_01: This is me moving there.
- 11:16SPEAKER_01: She wants her emotions to be confused.
- 11:19SPEAKER_01: No, she you even told me last time she's like, I'm gonna put a lot in your face.
- 11:22SPEAKER_01: And I was like, okay.
- 11:23SPEAKER_01: And like recently, I've been like, oh my god, I am so tight.
- 11:27SPEAKER_01: You're so tight.
- 11:28SPEAKER_01: I am so tight.
- 11:29SPEAKER_01: I'm not complaining.
- 11:30SPEAKER_01: I love it.
- 11:31SPEAKER_02: She's like, okay.
- 11:32SPEAKER_02: You know what?
- 11:33SPEAKER_02: I mean, honestly, I like to have a conversation with my patients, it just helps me to understand what their goals are.
- 11:39SPEAKER_02: But if I, you know, obviously we don't want to, we want to always be preventative.
- 11:45SPEAKER_01: So if you're 22, do you think that's too young?
- 11:48SPEAKER_02: If their presentation allows me to do it, so everybody just because you're 22 doesn't mean you have wrinkles.
- 11:53SPEAKER_02: I mean, wrinkles come from adhesions underneath the skin after periods of dynamic movement and your estrogen, I mean, your well, estrogen plays a role in that as well, but um, your skin loses the resilience because the collagen is breaking down and you have no elastin after a certain amount of years, you stop producing elastin unless you do it a different way chemically.
- 12:17SPEAKER_02: Um what I'm saying is you can have wrinkles when you're a teenager, it just depends on your presentation.
- 12:23SPEAKER_02: And so for me, it's having that real conversation with my patients.
- 12:28SPEAKER_02: And once a wrinkle sets in, I you guys can't see this, but if I were to take the skin and pull it back, there's actually an adhesion on the skin.
- 12:37SPEAKER_02: So it's almost like scarring behind that line, which isn't a bad thing.
- 12:41SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah.
- 12:42SPEAKER_02: But over a period of time, if that adhesion gets deeper and that scarring gets deeper, it's gonna be very difficult for me to do modalities that's gonna help soften that up.
- 12:51SPEAKER_02: So obviously, I don't want these adhesions to set in.
- 12:54SPEAKER_02: Doesn't mean like we have to make your face look like a glass wall, but definitely want to support and prevent those adhesions or those riots or you know, scarring underneath the skin from getting worse.
- 13:06SPEAKER_02: Getting worse.
- 13:06SPEAKER_02: I assume that okay.
- 13:07SPEAKER_01: Uh everyone is talking about quote unquote natural results.
- 13:10SPEAKER_01: How do you know when fillers are enhancing someone versus making them look overdone?
- 13:16SPEAKER_02: My goal is always to make you look natural.
- 13:18SPEAKER_02: But natural doesn't mean that I don't use a lot of products.
- 13:21SPEAKER_02: Sure.
- 13:22SPEAKER_02: To me, it's about what does your face need?
- 13:25SPEAKER_02: Because we know that the age through certain decades and through different health issues, your face age ages a certain way.
- 13:33SPEAKER_02: And it's again, we go back to why I say aesthetics is truly medicine because I'm looking at the whole picture.
- 13:40SPEAKER_02: I'm even looking at their hormones and you know, um, their lifestyle.
- 13:44SPEAKER_02: You know, you have to look at intrinsic and extrinsic aging.
- 13:48SPEAKER_02: So when they say, like, how do we know if, you know, if I'm giving them natural results, it's if somebody looks at them and can tell or can't tell.
- 13:56SPEAKER_02: Or can't tell.
- 13:57SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 13:57SPEAKER_01: That's like I always think just from the patient side and being your patient, even like we've done like a tiny bit of filler, like right here, and I'm pointing to your nasal labial area, my nasal labial area uh just above my lip.
- 14:10SPEAKER_01: And literally, it was a really small amount.
- 14:12SPEAKER_01: Or we just did a tiny bit of chin filler last year to help with some adhesions.
- 14:16SPEAKER_01: And literally, I don't even know, it's probably like a third or like a quarter of a syringe.
- 14:20SPEAKER_01: So having facial filler doesn't mean you have to look filled, right?
- 14:24SPEAKER_01: It was about just creating that symmetry in my face and making it still look very natural but very even.
- 14:31SPEAKER_02: Yeah, and I I think people don't they don't understand what filler actually is.
- 14:35SPEAKER_02: A filler is basically a chain, a sugar cane.
- 14:39SPEAKER_02: It's hyaluronic acid.
- 14:40SPEAKER_02: It's hyaluronic acid made from sugarcane.
- 14:42SPEAKER_02: So basically, why I'm saying that is to say sweet face.
- 14:45SPEAKER_02: So what I'm saying is like in your extracellular matrix, you have uh certain things that kind of plump up the skin, and as you age, you lose that.
- 14:54SPEAKER_02: And so sometimes I use hyaluronic to give you back what your body naturally has.
- 15:00SPEAKER_02: So it's not filler isn't always necessarily used to like fill a line, it could be to hydrate your skin.
- 15:05SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 15:06SPEAKER_02: I always say it's up to your provider to know exactly what we call the rheology of a filler, is and real there's different types of rheology out there and what it's consistence and made of.
- 15:17SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 15:17SPEAKER_01: So yeah.
- 15:18SPEAKER_01: Uh if someone has only 300 to 500 to spend on their skin, where should they put that money for their biggest return?
- 15:25SPEAKER_02: I am going to say if they are consistent and can follow directions and like will follow directions, I'm gonna say medical great products.
- 15:33SPEAKER_02: I agree with that.
- 15:33SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 15:33SPEAKER_01: Nothing to say there.
- 15:34SPEAKER_01: What's the biggest misconception people have about hormone replacement therapy, especially after seeing things on social media?
- 15:40SPEAKER_01: Oh gosh.
- 15:41SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 15:41SPEAKER_01: So I have a new tagline.
- 15:43SPEAKER_01: You guys know I always say, okay, one, hormone therapy is not a weight loss strategy, so that's the first big misconception.
- 15:49SPEAKER_01: The other thing I've been saying a lot lately that I really enjoy is that I think resonates with people.
- 15:54SPEAKER_01: We one blame our hormones for way too much.
- 15:57SPEAKER_01: I'm talking about reproductive hormones.
- 15:59SPEAKER_01: I'm not talking about insulin as a hormone or thyroid as a hormone or prolactin as a hormone or all these other hormones in the body.
- 16:04SPEAKER_01: I'm talking about estrogen, testosterone, and progesterone.
- 16:07SPEAKER_01: We give them way too much authority.
- 16:10SPEAKER_01: We're like, they are the cause for the reason my marriage failed, for the reason I'm not good at my job, for the reason why my kids aren't doing well in school, for the reason why my dog keeps peeing on the floor.
- 16:21SPEAKER_01: And yes, like if you're having symptoms of low hormone function, again, I am a hormone specialist.
- 16:27SPEAKER_01: I am certified in bioidential hormone therapy.
- 16:30SPEAKER_01: I believe in hormone therapy, but I also believe that they are not the cure for everything and they are not the root cause for everything.
- 16:38SPEAKER_01: So I always say we blame hormones too much for too many things and we give them too much credit where we're like, if I just get my estrogen to whatever some magical number is, my kids are gonna go to an Ivy Leave school, my husband's gonna, you know, have a better relationship, my dog's gonna stop peeing on the floor.
- 16:55SPEAKER_01: That is just not the case, right?
- 16:58SPEAKER_01: Like, yes, they're gonna help you sleep better, not sweat as much, but they also might make you bleed, they also might make you bloated, they also might make you gain weight.
- 17:06SPEAKER_01: Like it's always a biological trade-off.
- 17:08SPEAKER_02: So that's my biggest thing.
- 17:09SPEAKER_02: All right, next one.
- 17:10SPEAKER_02: Yeah, you go.
- 17:11SPEAKER_02: You ask.
- 17:12SPEAKER_02: All right, peptides seem to be everywhere right now.
- 17:14SPEAKER_02: Which ones actually have a promising science behind them, and which one deserves a little bit more skepticism?
- 17:21SPEAKER_01: So, which ones actually have evidence-based medicine science behind them?
- 17:25SPEAKER_01: GLP one, glucagon-like peptide one.
- 17:28SPEAKER_01: There is no drug presently with higher research in the peptide space.
- 17:32SPEAKER_01: So that's the answer to that.
- 17:34SPEAKER_01: Which ones deserve a little more skepticism?
- 17:36SPEAKER_01: Good lord, all of them.
- 17:37SPEAKER_01: And again, certified in peptide therapy, I have a peptide course.
- 17:41SPEAKER_01: Shout out the integrated medical peptide course.
- 17:43SPEAKER_01: I love peptides.
- 17:44SPEAKER_01: I take them, I use them, but again, they're not going to solve all my problems.
- 17:48SPEAKER_01: I would say the so the ones that I think get way too much love and in clinical application just do not live up to the expectation are the growth hormone secreting peptides.
- 18:00SPEAKER_01: So they all sound like orelin.
- 18:01SPEAKER_01: So sermorelin, sermorelin, it's funny.
- 18:04SPEAKER_01: Ipamorelin, tesimorelin, CJC, hexorelin, IgF1, LR3, these are all growth hormone secreting peptides on paper.
- 18:14SPEAKER_01: So when people think of growth hormone, they're thinking about human growth hormone, which remember like the baseball players in the 90s are like head screw and Lance Armstrong and all that.
- 18:24SPEAKER_01: So those class of peptides help to promote growth hormone, which can help with anabolism, which is muscle building.
- 18:31SPEAKER_01: But people automatically think that, oh, it's also going to help me lose body fat.
- 18:36SPEAKER_01: Now, Tessimerelin, which is the brand name drug E.
- 18:39SPEAKER_01: grypta, does have a FGA clinical indication for what's called lipodystrophy, which is fat accumulation around the abdominal organs, specifically as a side effect of antiviral HIV treatment in the 90s of AZT and those drugs.
- 18:53SPEAKER_01: For the average Joe who doesn't have HIV and isn't taking AZT or these drugs and doesn't have lipodystrophy, it's not going to make that much improvement.
- 19:02SPEAKER_01: So people tend to very much always think like, oh, this is going to help me lose body fat.
- 19:07SPEAKER_01: It's not.
- 19:08SPEAKER_01: So those are my things.
- 19:09SPEAKER_02: All right.
- 19:10SPEAKER_02: I think we can answer this.
- 19:12SPEAKER_02: But what's one health or wellness trend that make that went viral on social media that makes you cringe and one trend you actually love?
- 19:19unknown: Okay.
- 19:22SPEAKER_02: You know what?
- 19:23SPEAKER_02: Um I think that the home microneedling I want to literally scream.
- 19:31SPEAKER_02: Like you buy a microneedling device online.
- 19:34SPEAKER_02: As I'm, you know, consulting with patients, and I'm like, hey, like it would be great for you just to have OG microneedling to turn the cells over and whatever.
- 19:42SPEAKER_02: They say, Well, I have one at home.
- 19:44SPEAKER_02: Like a dermal roller.
- 19:45SPEAKER_02: Yes.
- 19:46SPEAKER_02: Like I have a I said, well, actually, you know, are you like, first of all, we got to be careful because you're like breaking the skin.
- 19:51SPEAKER_02: Yeah, are you like bleeding on your couch every day?
- 19:54SPEAKER_02: And I'm like, where are you getting this from?
- 19:56SPEAKER_02: They're like Amazon.
- 19:57SPEAKER_02: They have all different types of TikTok shop.
- 19:59SPEAKER_02: Exactly.
- 19:59SPEAKER_02: So please understand that microneedles.
- 20:02SPEAKER_02: We have sterile needles.
- 20:03SPEAKER_02: We actually use one sterile tip for every patient.
- 20:07SPEAKER_02: We don't over I wouldn't even save it in and have you use it.
- 20:10SPEAKER_02: Like so, please stop buying these things at home and breaking your skin and then coming to me and saying, Oh my gosh, I had an allergic reaction.
- 20:18SPEAKER_02: No, you actually broke your skin and introduced bacteria in there, and now you're gonna walk out with a prescription because I have to because you have an abscess.
- 20:26SPEAKER_01: And which one do you love?
- 20:27SPEAKER_01: The right one, the LED therapy.
- 20:30SPEAKER_02: Like the face masks.
- 20:31SPEAKER_02: Do you have a brand you like?
- 20:32SPEAKER_02: Omnilux is a good one.
- 20:33SPEAKER_02: But if you can swear, I believe.
- 20:35SPEAKER_01: Oh my god, yeah.
- 20:35SPEAKER_01: My nurse practitioner Gabrielle, when she passed her boards, that's what we bought her.
- 20:39SPEAKER_01: And I was like, Oh girl, I re I literally must have looked at 27 products and put it through so many.
- 20:45SPEAKER_01: Lindsay finally was like, Megan, just pick one.
- 20:47SPEAKER_01: I'm like, there's so many.
- 20:48SPEAKER_01: She texted me.
- 20:50SPEAKER_01: That's the one I bought her.
- 20:50SPEAKER_02: It was the Omnilux because it had the best reviews across the board.
- 20:54SPEAKER_02: Also, if you ever can really, really afford like a really like they call it medical grade, Saluma is phenomenal.
- 21:01SPEAKER_02: Saluma is probably my favorite.
- 21:03SPEAKER_02: S C E L L U M A.
- 21:05SPEAKER_02: Well, I'm gonna guess perfect.
- 21:07SPEAKER_01: I'm gonna wear it.
- 21:08SPEAKER_01: And I just like how it looks.
- 21:09SPEAKER_01: I want to like David come home and be like, hey.
- 21:12SPEAKER_02: What about you?
- 21:13SPEAKER_02: What are you seeing on social media that you hate?
- 21:15SPEAKER_02: God, we could probably talk about peptides.
- 21:18SPEAKER_02: I can't.
- 21:18SPEAKER_01: So, I mean, one is that obviously Meta has been targeting peptides, so no one's allowed to say them.
- 21:26SPEAKER_01: My new social media, megajellcoral.np, follow me on Instagram.
- 21:31SPEAKER_01: Please follow me.
- 21:32SPEAKER_01: Please follow me.
- 21:32SPEAKER_01: I mean, you lost like 3,000 followers.
- 21:34SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I lost 3,000 followers.
- 21:35SPEAKER_01: It doesn't matter.
- 21:36SPEAKER_01: We're gonna get them back and stronger.
- 21:38SPEAKER_01: I told Aaron, that's my social media coordinator, that we're gonna break the internet.
- 21:41SPEAKER_01: Anyways, so we have I mean, I have spent probably$20,000 in content that I can't use.
- 21:47SPEAKER_01: Not from paid ads, from like production, right?
- 21:51SPEAKER_01: Like it costs money to have someone film you and do all that stuff over a course of two years on peptides.
- 21:56SPEAKER_01: What I hate is people trying to get around it, and they keep saying, like, pee.
- 22:00SPEAKER_01: Or like P asterisk T I D.
- 22:03SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 22:03SPEAKER_01: And I'm like, that's gross.
- 22:05SPEAKER_01: Just talk about something else.
- 22:06SPEAKER_01: Like, you have to be something else outside of that.
- 22:09SPEAKER_01: And it's actually interesting.
- 22:10SPEAKER_01: I had a meeting with a patient of mine who also is like knee deep in social media, marketing, and AI, and we were talking about.
- 22:16SPEAKER_01: And I was like, you know, it's an opportunity.
- 22:18SPEAKER_01: I've pivoted, and I'm so much more than peptides.
- 22:22SPEAKER_01: Again, I'm like, I want a medical practice.
- 22:24SPEAKER_01: I specialize in hormone therapy.
- 22:26SPEAKER_01: I'm training for two world marathons.
- 22:28SPEAKER_01: I have a podcast.
- 22:29SPEAKER_01: Like I'm away from a mom.
- 22:30SPEAKER_01: I'm a dog mom.
- 22:31SPEAKER_01: Like I'm a friend.
- 22:33SPEAKER_01: I'm like, we're just focusing on everything else.
- 22:35SPEAKER_01: And she because she was like, oh, I'm so sad for you.
- 22:37SPEAKER_01: Can't talk about peptides.
- 22:38SPEAKER_01: And I was like, okay, but I have to be able to be more.
- 22:40SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 22:40SPEAKER_01: Like if I'm not more, I'm not doing a good job.
- 22:42SPEAKER_01: You know what I mean?
- 22:43SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 22:44SPEAKER_02: You're definitely well versed in pretty much everything.
- 22:47SPEAKER_02: And I, you know, and it's crazy that I because I thought about you.
- 22:50SPEAKER_02: I was watching, uh I was watching Instagram, and there's a lot of new uh peptide providers out there, and I just cringe because this is something that you've been doing before it became a therapy.
- 23:01SPEAKER_02: Forever, right?
- 23:02SPEAKER_01: Yeah, forever.
- 23:02SPEAKER_01: And then I gave my first talk on peptide therapy in November of 2020.
- 23:07SPEAKER_01: Like pandemic shit.
- 23:08SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 23:09SPEAKER_02: And so then there's another group.
- 23:11SPEAKER_02: I belong to like all these different social groups and for providers, and they were asking about, and I think I've even like taken a snapshot and sent you.
- 23:19SPEAKER_02: Every time I'm like, you have to be trained by Megan.
- 23:22SPEAKER_02: The way these providers are jumping on the train because it is just money.
- 23:27SPEAKER_02: It's a it's a money grab.
- 23:28SPEAKER_02: They think it's a money grab.
- 23:30SPEAKER_02: But just recently, you know, somebody died for you know doing the wrong thing.
- 23:35SPEAKER_02: Like I'm I've been practicing aesthetics for almost 10 years now, and I I've never come to you and said, hey, Megan, like I'm really interested in this.
- 23:43SPEAKER_02: Like, I mean, I'm interested because it obviously like goes hand in hand with what I do.
- 23:47SPEAKER_02: And I want a better understanding of this so I can continue to refer out and be an intelligent, well-rounded provider, but I'm not gonna sit around and just have you like train me and then within six months think I can go out here and like tackle these patients.
- 24:01SPEAKER_01: Well, yeah, and vice versa.
- 24:02SPEAKER_01: I'm not, I would never try to do the same thing.
- 24:04SPEAKER_01: I'm always like, um, you don't want me injecting your face.
- 24:06SPEAKER_01: That's not gonna happen.
- 24:08SPEAKER_01: What are the biggest signs that someone is simply exhausted versus actually dealing with a hormone imbalance?
- 24:13SPEAKER_01: If they have a healthy sexual active lifestyle, they might be tired and they might just be tired, yeah.
- 24:20SPEAKER_01: If they're overtrained from the bedroom and life, no.
- 24:24SPEAKER_01: I would say that's when my husband always has a line, he says, physiology doesn't lie.
- 24:28SPEAKER_01: So, and and this is gonna be controversial.
- 24:31SPEAKER_01: If your blood work is pristine, and I'm not talking about quote unquote normal, I get it, normal isn't always normal, it's not optimal.
- 24:38SPEAKER_01: But if your blood work is pristine, sometimes there is a lifestyle component.
- 24:42SPEAKER_01: And this is when I talk to people about things we've talked about on this podcast before, like, okay, how much are you sleeping?
- 24:48SPEAKER_01: When is your first cup of coffee?
- 24:49SPEAKER_01: Not against coffee, love coffee.
- 24:51SPEAKER_01: But if you are literally waking up and smelling folders in your cup, you need to go outside, drink some water, have some electrolytes, go for a walk, exercise, and then you can have your cup of coffee, like delaying caffeine intake.
- 25:05SPEAKER_01: So a lot of times there is a behavior, and that is when, so let's say thyroid is perfect, reproductive hormones are perfect, you know, is there a metabolic component?
- 25:13SPEAKER_01: Is your blood sugar dysfunctional?
- 25:15SPEAKER_01: Do we need a GLP one?
- 25:16SPEAKER_01: Or that is when like peptide therapy is actually helpful.
- 25:19SPEAKER_01: When I say, okay, let's try a mitochondrial peptide, let's try to get your cells working a little bit better, let's detox your liver and use a peptide to do that, or let's use a nootropic peptide to stimulate your brain in a different way.
- 25:31SPEAKER_01: Like that is when I do think peptide therapy is is applicable.
- 25:36SPEAKER_01: Love it.
- 25:36SPEAKER_01: Goodness.
- 25:37SPEAKER_01: That's one thing you wish every couple understood about hormones, intimacy, and relationships as they get older.
- 25:42SPEAKER_01: Wow, that is a spicy one.
- 25:44SPEAKER_02: Wait, let me ask you.
- 25:45SPEAKER_02: That actually that's a good one.
- 25:47SPEAKER_02: I mean, is it normal to like lose sexual, like I mean, yes, yeah.
- 25:51SPEAKER_01: So 100%.
- 25:51SPEAKER_01: I mean, and you have to work through that as a couple, right?
- 25:54SPEAKER_01: We do.
- 25:54SPEAKER_01: It's and I mean, just to share, right?
- 25:56SPEAKER_01: This is a space for me to share transparently.
- 25:59SPEAKER_01: My husband will never listen to this, hopefully.
- 26:02SPEAKER_01: Um and everyone knows I have a very healthy marriage, a very healthy relationship.
- 26:06SPEAKER_01: I I love my husband so much.
- 26:09SPEAKER_01: But I always I do tell him, like, I am all my patients.
- 26:12SPEAKER_01: I'm 40 years old, I've been in menopause for 12 years.
- 26:16SPEAKER_01: Go back to episode one to hear my story of going through menopause in my 20s.
- 26:20SPEAKER_01: I'm on hormone therapy, but again, it's not that hormone therapy is going to save my libido, because it's not.
- 26:26SPEAKER_01: And it's not that I don't find my husband attractive, it's not that I don't enjoy sex, because I do, but like the desire just isn't what it was.
- 26:35SPEAKER_01: And I think part of that's like my obsessive-compulsive disorder, and there's like some other stuff going on in there.
- 26:40SPEAKER_01: But I talk to my patients all day long, they're like, I love my husband, like he is great, but like I just don't want to jump his bones all the time.
- 26:47SPEAKER_01: And and I what I always tell my patients, and I was having this conversation with my husband, is like, you know, I need to, and I know it's not very sexy, but treat sex like I do fitness, where I know I have to do it because it's good for me and it's healthy.
- 27:01SPEAKER_01: And sometimes that may be like, yes, we're checking a box.
- 27:04SPEAKER_01: But what I tell my patients is if you don't use it, you lose it.
- 27:07SPEAKER_01: So even though it's not again as attractive to be like, hey, we're going to be intimate tonight, but if you do it and you're consistent with it, you want to keep doing your body will be like, oh, I'm having an orgasm, I'm releasing oxytocin, all these like feel good endorphins.
- 27:23SPEAKER_01: And then it'll make it more ritual without having to think about it.
- 27:26SPEAKER_01: Do you know what I mean?
- 27:27SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 27:27SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 27:28SPEAKER_02: I'm I'm a visual person.
- 27:29SPEAKER_02: So if I'm really attracted to somebody, then it's like you don't have to, you don't have to like, but I I've been trying to think about like the guys that I've dated, like what do they have in common?
- 27:40SPEAKER_02: And I they have nothing in common.
- 27:42SPEAKER_02: They all like yeah, they're different, they're different, like different personalities, you know.
- 27:46SPEAKER_02: So for me, it's I think it's just like the whole person.
- 27:49SPEAKER_02: I love somebody with a sense of humor, yeah, and a geek.
- 27:52SPEAKER_02: Like, if you're you've got a great sense of humor, oh my gosh, and just somebody that makes me laugh, and then somebody that will sit down and like read research papers with me.
- 28:01SPEAKER_02: 100%, but also somebody that can take control in the bedroom.
- 28:05SPEAKER_02: I'm yours, you win, you're winning in life.
- 28:07SPEAKER_02: I'm winning.
- 28:08SPEAKER_02: I love it.
- 28:09SPEAKER_02: All right, let's see.
- 28:10SPEAKER_02: Busting up a myth about aesthetics that patients believe all the time, what would it be that uh neurotoxin is gonna kill you because it's poisonous?
- 28:19SPEAKER_02: Okay, let me just just share this with you.
- 28:21SPEAKER_01: Do you want your face to wrinkle?
- 28:23SPEAKER_01: Like it's not even like oil me up.
- 28:27SPEAKER_02: Let's talk about how hard it is to get shit approved in the United States.
- 28:32SPEAKER_02: I think Galderma just tried.
- 28:34SPEAKER_01: Is that because it's only FDA approved for the Globe Belt list, technically?
- 28:38SPEAKER_02: So the thing is there's such a process in trying to get things approved in the United States.
- 28:43SPEAKER_01: Like, for example, it's a multi-billionaire.
- 28:45SPEAKER_02: I love products.
- 28:46SPEAKER_02: I love Galderma, we love you.
- 28:49SPEAKER_02: But they've been having a hard time bringing on an a different neurotoxin, but it's not that it's not going to get approved, it's just the the process in which it happens is so painful.
- 29:00SPEAKER_02: And it's great for consumers, it's great because there's things that people they're trying to do is to protect us.
- 29:04SPEAKER_02: Right, right.
- 29:05SPEAKER_02: But when people say that neurotoxin is poisonous, okay, first of all, I'm drinking alcohol.
- 29:12SPEAKER_02: This is more poisonous to my body than neurotoxin.
- 29:15SPEAKER_02: Second of all, the way neurotoxin was discovered in a medical setting, like used for medical reasons and is still being used for medical reasons.
- 29:26SPEAKER_02: I'll just give you some units to consider.
- 29:29SPEAKER_02: So in medical cases, they can use up to 3,000 units per treatment.
- 29:34SPEAKER_01: It's like I have like that in half my forehead, and I'm just kidding.
- 29:37SPEAKER_02: So the average adult, the average adult gets between 55 and 75 units if we're not doing lower face.
- 29:43SPEAKER_02: So think about what I'm telling you.
- 29:44SPEAKER_02: They medically, like your doctor, if you need neurotoxin for something for whatever medical reason, they used to let up to 3,000 units.
- 29:52SPEAKER_01: With aphasia.
- 29:53SPEAKER_01: I mean, we used to give it to kids who have uh, what's that called?
- 29:56SPEAKER_01: Duchesne's muscular dystrophy, and they would like drool and they would do neurotoxin in their in their jaw for that or migraines.
- 30:03SPEAKER_01: I mean, those are migraines.
- 30:05SPEAKER_01: In the bladder, like bladder.
- 30:06SPEAKER_01: Oh, yeah, that's a big thing.
- 30:07SPEAKER_02: Sure.
- 30:08SPEAKER_02: So yeah, so that's one thing, you guys.
- 30:10SPEAKER_02: Like, please find a provider that you trust and somebody that can talk to you about the I can talk to you, be, I can talk to you about the history of everything that I put in your face because I believe in post-surveillance studies, which basically means that there are reports and stuff because things can go wrong.
- 30:26SPEAKER_02: So there's 20 to 30 minutes of research.
- 30:29SPEAKER_02: Absolutely.
- 30:29SPEAKER_02: So there's that.
- 30:30SPEAKER_02: I'm getting off my soapbox.
- 30:32SPEAKER_01: Oh, I love it.
- 30:32SPEAKER_01: What are your personal non-negotiables every day for staying healthy, energized, and looking your best?
- 30:38SPEAKER_02: Well, if you follow me on Injector Cha Cha, you can find a picture of me from like three years ago, and then one just as of recently.
- 30:47SPEAKER_02: And you can see, I mean, everybody was boobs are gigantic.
- 30:50SPEAKER_02: I know they got bigger.
- 30:52SPEAKER_02: No, you can see in my the picture.
- 30:55SPEAKER_02: I cannot with you between you and your husband that always points out that my breasts are humongous.
- 31:02SPEAKER_02: Yes.
- 31:03SPEAKER_00: She, yes, it's a she married David.
- 31:06SPEAKER_01: The thinner she gets, the thinner she gets, the proportion is just off.
- 31:11SPEAKER_00: I truly call it they're not real.
- 31:13SPEAKER_00: So my waist looks smaller.
- 31:15SPEAKER_00: They're not going anywhere.
- 31:16SPEAKER_01: I don't mean to embarrass you.
- 31:17SPEAKER_01: I'm not embarrassed.
- 31:18SPEAKER_01: I think they're beautiful.
- 31:20SPEAKER_01: And I think you're beautiful.
- 31:21SPEAKER_01: Sorry.
- 31:22SPEAKER_01: No, all right.
- 31:22SPEAKER_01: Sorry, I cut you off though.
- 31:24SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 31:24SPEAKER_02: Go go to injector cha-cha.
- 31:26SPEAKER_02: You'll see a before picture of me, and then I like a 30-pound weight loss.
- 31:30SPEAKER_02: And this one right here, because I gave her a shout out, literally said, You don't have to live like this.
- 31:35SPEAKER_02: Let's break this down.
- 31:37SPEAKER_02: And she broke it down for me, and we talked about all the things that we're gonna address at the B3 summit.
- 31:43SPEAKER_02: So you're whole holistic looking at the big person.
- 31:47SPEAKER_02: But it is important to make sure that your health is a priority because when it's not a priority and you have a health issue, your health will only be the thing that you focus on.
- 31:57SPEAKER_01: That is true.
- 31:58SPEAKER_01: Yeah, that is very true.
- 32:00SPEAKER_01: So I would say personal non-negotiables, I would say morning walks.
- 32:05SPEAKER_01: And I have even so my husband used to like hate walking.
- 32:09SPEAKER_01: I mean, not hate it, but like if I was like, hey, on a Saturday morning, let's go for a walk, he'd be like, no, I'm gonna exercise later, I'm not doing it.
- 32:16SPEAKER_01: Now, this man, I mean, he's so dedicated.
- 32:18SPEAKER_01: He gets up, he rounds on his patients virtually while I'm getting the dogs ready.
- 32:22SPEAKER_01: I usually will start our walk and then he like comes sprinting down the street to go.
- 32:26SPEAKER_01: We call it a fur family walk on the weekends.
- 32:28SPEAKER_01: And he always says, We've been doing this consistently for three years.
- 32:31SPEAKER_01: Before then, I I had been doing it alone with the dogs, and he's like, I am bought in.
- 32:36SPEAKER_01: He's like starting the day with a walk, and even on Thursday mornings, because it's the only day he doesn't have to go in quite as early.
- 32:42SPEAKER_01: He'll he goes with us on our dog walk.
- 32:44SPEAKER_01: So morning walks, rain, shine, snow.
- 32:47SPEAKER_01: I mean, everyone in our neighborhood knows they think it's hilarious because my dog has a my older dog has a rain jacket when it's raining.
- 32:54SPEAKER_01: He has little snowshoes when it's cold and like coats and sweaters.
- 32:57SPEAKER_01: I mean, I am out there with those two dogs.
- 33:00SPEAKER_01: Come hell or high water, we are hitting the pavement.
- 33:03SPEAKER_01: And I always say, I'm like, if we do nothing else, if the whole day just goes to crap and I eat a you know, entire pizza to myself and a pint of ice cream and I drink a bottle of champagne.
- 33:12SPEAKER_01: And on the champagne, I believe.
- 33:14SPEAKER_01: The other stuff, maybe not so much.
- 33:16SPEAKER_01: But if all if I do all those things, but all I did was go for that morning walk, I'm like, it still was a good day.
- 33:21SPEAKER_01: I still did something.
- 33:22SPEAKER_02: You got me inspired because I went and got a weighted vest, and every time I walk, I tag you in my post because I want you to see like you were.
- 33:29SPEAKER_02: I'm so proud of you.
- 33:31SPEAKER_01: No, I'm so proud of you.
- 33:32SPEAKER_01: Let's see.
- 33:33SPEAKER_01: Rapid fire.
- 33:34SPEAKER_01: All right, expensive skincare or affordable skin care.
- 33:37SPEAKER_01: I'm gonna go expensive.
- 33:38SPEAKER_01: You gotta have the good stuff.
- 33:39SPEAKER_01: Expensive.
- 33:40SPEAKER_01: But I think there's a curb because I think I might have told you this story now.
- 33:42SPEAKER_01: This is supposed to be rapid fire, but it had to have been over a year ago.
- 33:45SPEAKER_01: But we obviously were already friends and working together.
- 33:48SPEAKER_01: I the only so I never deviate except for serums.
- 33:51SPEAKER_01: Serums.
- 33:52SPEAKER_01: Serums.
- 33:53SPEAKER_01: Serums.
- 33:53SPEAKER_01: Or like I'll use a serum and then I'm like, oh, I want to try a different one.
- 33:56SPEAKER_01: But like my cleanser, my my exfoliator, my toner, my moisture, all that's the same, anyways.
- 34:01SPEAKER_01: And I decided to do a Dior because Dior has skincare products.
- 34:05SPEAKER_01: They had a serum, and I think it was like a brightening one.
- 34:08SPEAKER_01: I was like, okay, it was really expensive.
- 34:09SPEAKER_01: I'm like, I'm gonna try it.
- 34:10SPEAKER_01: Let's just see if it's really worth it.
- 34:12SPEAKER_01: Compared to Zio or like medical grade, it was nothing.
- 34:15SPEAKER_01: It was like I put perfume on my face.
- 34:17SPEAKER_01: I hated it, I hate the way it made it feel.
- 34:19SPEAKER_01: And I'm sorry to like, I like Dior, shut up, I like your shoes, have all your stuff.
- 34:23SPEAKER_01: But when it comes to skincare, like just get in your own line.
- 34:26SPEAKER_01: So I'm gonna say expensive.
- 34:27SPEAKER_01: What do you think?
- 34:28SPEAKER_02: I think expensive.
- 34:29SPEAKER_02: I actually had a uh I hate to say a special running for my birthday weekend where I did 10% off my quad squad, it flew off the shelf because yeah, you can see the changes that is happened in my stuff.
- 34:41SPEAKER_01: And you can just like feel it.
- 34:42SPEAKER_01: You can feel it, you can see it.
- 34:43SPEAKER_01: It's got beautiful.
- 34:44SPEAKER_01: Okay, um, morning workouts or evening.
- 34:46SPEAKER_01: I will say morning, I have to, or else I'm not gonna do it.
- 34:49SPEAKER_01: Yeah, so I will I will say morning for me, but I also there's some people like I have some patients, they're like, listen, you know, especially if I'm breastfeeding or I'm doing something, like the only time for me to work out is when I put my kids down at 8 p.m.
- 35:02SPEAKER_01: and I'm like, I mean, you're a hero.
- 35:04SPEAKER_01: It great.
- 35:05SPEAKER_01: If that works for you, do it.
- 35:06SPEAKER_01: Coffee before cardio.
- 35:08SPEAKER_02: I drink coffee while I'm doing cardio.
- 35:10SPEAKER_02: I do.
- 35:10SPEAKER_01: They can mix it in.
- 35:11SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah.
- 35:12SPEAKER_02: I do coffee and you know, I love coconut water.
- 35:14SPEAKER_02: That's okay.
- 35:15SPEAKER_01: Ice baths, yes.
- 35:16SPEAKER_02: No, but I do red light therapy, which is next.
- 35:19SPEAKER_01: What do you think about the face people putting their face in ice?
- 35:21SPEAKER_02: I think that's great.
- 35:22SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah.
- 35:23SPEAKER_01: I don't think there's any a lot of people do it because it helps with inflammation and it gives you you might get a face ice bucket.
- 35:30SPEAKER_01: Collagen.
- 35:30SPEAKER_02: Really?
- 35:31SPEAKER_02: You remind me, you know what?
- 35:32SPEAKER_02: Kim Kardashian said she does not give a shit.
- 35:35SPEAKER_02: Whatever it is, if it makes her look younger, she's going for it.
- 35:38SPEAKER_02: Like she will literally put poop on her face.
- 35:40SPEAKER_02: Scientifically 100%.
- 35:43SPEAKER_01: I, you guys, I'm saying it now because again, I have no shame.
- 35:47SPEAKER_01: This podcast, this is my only space for me to publicly say everything I want.
- 35:51SPEAKER_01: Oh my god.
- 35:51SPEAKER_01: I am slowly beating my husband down, just like inch by inch to let me get a lower bluff.
- 35:57SPEAKER_01: Oh my god.
- 35:58SPEAKER_01: I just want a pinch procedure, right?
- 36:00SPEAKER_01: And I know it's vain, whatever.
- 36:01SPEAKER_01: I don't care.
- 36:02SPEAKER_01: That's what I feel.
- 36:02SPEAKER_01: Because again, I'll do anything.
- 36:03SPEAKER_01: And I I keep like every time.
- 36:05SPEAKER_01: So we're watching the World Cup halftime show, and Shakira was on there.
- 36:09SPEAKER_01: And I love doing this to him because he's like, oh my God, she looks so good.
- 36:13SPEAKER_01: And he's like, Oh my god, she's 50.
- 36:14SPEAKER_01: And I'm like, what do you think she's had done to her face?
- 36:17SPEAKER_01: And he's like, Oh my god, here you go.
- 36:18SPEAKER_01: And I'm like, Yeah, she looks great because she takes care of her face.
- 36:22SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 36:22SPEAKER_01: And I'm like, David, I need a lower bluff.
- 36:25SPEAKER_01: And he's like, Stop, just stop right now.
- 36:27SPEAKER_02: Anyway, he's not gonna go for that.
- 36:30SPEAKER_01: I'm gonna wear him.
- 36:31SPEAKER_02: You like use under-eye cream, and you're like, I've got the best one.
- 36:34SPEAKER_02: Oh, and I'm like, do you have much Botox under my eyes?
- 36:37SPEAKER_02: Anyways, collagen.
- 36:39SPEAKER_02: Collagen, like drinking collagen, producing collagen.
- 36:41SPEAKER_02: Yes, collagen, everything collagen.
- 36:43SPEAKER_01: I was so funny you said that because most people, I think when they see collagen, they think of like a supplement drinking collagen.
- 36:49SPEAKER_01: The first thing I thought of was sculpture.
- 36:50SPEAKER_01: Yeah, sculpture.
- 36:51SPEAKER_01: Because you've like taught me sculpture is phenomenal.
- 36:54SPEAKER_02: Yes.
- 36:56SPEAKER_02: Creatine, yes.
- 36:57SPEAKER_02: Drown in sculpture, everybody.
- 36:59SPEAKER_02: Uh creatine.
- 37:00SPEAKER_02: What do you think?
- 37:00SPEAKER_02: I've been taking creatine.
- 37:01SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I think yes.
- 37:02SPEAKER_01: Hey.
- 37:03SPEAKER_01: Uh, what's worth it and what's overhyped.
- 37:06SPEAKER_01: We've covered everything pretty much.
- 37:08SPEAKER_02: Okay, would you ever do face taping?
- 37:10SPEAKER_01: What's that?
- 37:11SPEAKER_02: Where literally you can take like this particular type of tape and you can like like snatch back your jawline.
- 37:17SPEAKER_02: I mean, like for an event.
- 37:18SPEAKER_02: I yeah, I would do it if you told me it was worth it.
- 37:20SPEAKER_02: I would do it.
- 37:20SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 37:21SPEAKER_02: No.
- 37:21SPEAKER_01: No, no beef tablets.
- 37:23SPEAKER_01: Oh my god.
- 37:24SPEAKER_01: Mouth taping, yes.
- 37:25SPEAKER_01: NAD, I would say it depends.
- 37:26SPEAKER_01: So it's a peptide.
- 37:28SPEAKER_01: Um, some people really like it, some people don't respond to it.
- 37:30SPEAKER_01: GOP1s for longevity, yes.
- 37:32SPEAKER_01: A Zympic face is a real thing.
- 37:34SPEAKER_01: Come see me.
- 37:35SPEAKER_01: I will treat you on that.
- 37:36SPEAKER_01: Sculptra.
- 37:37SPEAKER_01: Sculpture.
- 37:38SPEAKER_01: Preventative fibroblast, yes, yes, yes.
- 37:40SPEAKER_01: Bioidentical hormones, yes.
- 37:42SPEAKER_01: Electrolytes, yes, cold branches, yes.
- 37:44SPEAKER_01: Dry brushing.
- 37:45SPEAKER_02: What the mix dry brushing?
- 37:47SPEAKER_01: So I don't do that.
- 37:48SPEAKER_01: A lot of people do for like lymphatic drainage, is literally like it sounds.
- 37:51SPEAKER_01: So you take a big brush, like a like for your hair, uh-huh, and you like brush your skin.
- 37:56SPEAKER_01: Some people think it helps with cellulite.
- 37:58SPEAKER_01: I'm gonna say come see me.
- 38:00SPEAKER_02: I'll yeah, or yeah, I will morphe SU and put some culture in there.
- 38:04SPEAKER_01: Lymphatic drainage, sure.
- 38:07SPEAKER_01: Absolutely.
- 38:07SPEAKER_01: Yep, your lymphatic slowdown.
- 38:09SPEAKER_01: So again, I want to talk about LED masks real quick, so I know we're going long in a tooth, but post-treatment, if your med spa like Tasha has has those little LED lights that they can put under you or over you, sorry, after they mess with your face with like sculpture or filler or whatever, yes.
- 38:26SPEAKER_01: I think it is amazing.
- 38:28SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 38:28SPEAKER_01: Protein coffee, sure.
- 38:30SPEAKER_01: Sleep trackers, I'm gonna say no because Do you get paranoid that you have one on and you're like, yeah, not?
- 38:36SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 38:36SPEAKER_01: So I like got rid of my aura ring.
- 38:38SPEAKER_01: If you can tell, I don't wear it anymore.
- 38:40SPEAKER_01: I said I wore it for two and a half years.
- 38:42SPEAKER_01: I learned what I needed to know, didn't change my life in any significant way.
- 38:46SPEAKER_01: Not that it's a bad thing, but people, and I talk to my patients about this all the time, they get obsessed with the data.
- 38:52SPEAKER_01: And then it just drives them nuts.
- 38:54SPEAKER_01: They're like, Oh my god, well, I I slept great, I felt great, but my sleeping tracker said I didn't sleep great, so now I'm gonna have a bad day.
- 39:01SPEAKER_01: And I'm like, what is going on?
- 39:02SPEAKER_01: Like, don't look at the data.
- 39:04SPEAKER_01: Think about how you feel.
- 39:05SPEAKER_01: So I'm gonna say pass.
- 39:07SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 39:07SPEAKER_02: Well, let's set a goal for this week since it's Wednesday.
- 39:10SPEAKER_02: Yes.
- 39:10SPEAKER_02: What do you want to like something that you want to get done this week?
- 39:13SPEAKER_01: Oh my god.
- 39:13SPEAKER_01: So for our B3 event, shout out B3, and again, the link for the event will be in the show notes.
- 39:19SPEAKER_01: I need to hire the decorator for the VIP dinner and for the event itself.
- 39:25SPEAKER_01: So I need to do that.
- 39:26SPEAKER_01: My other goal this week is I feel like there's so much, but oh, I'll talk about I'll end on this very high note.
- 39:34SPEAKER_01: We on Saturday at one o'clock have a FaceTime with a dog that we're looking to rescue.
- 39:42SPEAKER_01: His current name is Bear, which I do actually really like.
- 39:45SPEAKER_01: Okay, I was thinking about changing it to Bear.
- 39:48SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 39:48SPEAKER_01: His name is Bear.
- 39:50SPEAKER_01: So we had applied for a dog named Bourbon, which I really want.
- 39:54SPEAKER_01: He was so nude.
- 39:56SPEAKER_01: I didn't know Bourbon and Bear.
- 39:58SPEAKER_01: So I do want to shout out to, and I'll put this in the show notes, to this rescue shelter based out of Houston, I believe, called Three Little Pities.
- 40:06SPEAKER_01: So adorable.
- 40:07SPEAKER_01: Great marketing.
- 40:08SPEAKER_01: I know.
- 40:08SPEAKER_01: Love it.
- 40:09SPEAKER_01: So one of our older dog is a pitbull, and but they have other breeds.
- 40:12SPEAKER_01: They don't just have pit bulls.
- 40:13SPEAKER_01: That's just the name of the rescue.
- 40:15SPEAKER_01: And the reason I that's where I found Bourbon, but Bourbon had an applicant before us.
- 40:20SPEAKER_01: We went through the interview process, but they did tell us the whole time.
- 40:22SPEAKER_01: They're like, he's in a foster to adopt, she's probably gonna adopt him, and then you know you won't be able to, which is fine.
- 40:28SPEAKER_01: Happy he has a good home, I should say.
- 40:31SPEAKER_01: But they do a ton of vetting.
- 40:33SPEAKER_01: So when I interviewed one, the interview was an hour and a half long.
- 40:36SPEAKER_01: I mean it was which I'm taking care of an animal.
- 40:39SPEAKER_01: Like it should be.
- 40:41SPEAKER_01: They called all of my references.
- 40:43SPEAKER_02: Hey, you didn't put me down there.
- 40:45SPEAKER_02: I did not I would have said best sometimes mom ever best dog mom.
- 40:50SPEAKER_02: I walk in here and I'm like, oh, she's gonna offer me dinner.
- 40:52SPEAKER_02: And she's like, Nope, it's it's for my babies.
- 40:55SPEAKER_01: Oh yeah, tonight they're having literally rotisserie chicken and and rice because Nova had to have a gentle cleaning today.
- 41:01SPEAKER_01: So, yeah, I mean, just huge background checks, like, and not just on me, but they they only list dogs that are in foster, which the important thing with having a dog who's gone through foster care is they do a lot of evaluation.
- 41:14SPEAKER_01: So they're in someone's home.
- 41:16SPEAKER_01: So they're getting some basic training, and I don't expect the dog to be like fully trained, but basic training.
- 41:20SPEAKER_01: And they also send you temperament tests.
- 41:22SPEAKER_01: So this is how the dog tested with babies, this is how they tested with toddlers, this is how they tested with cats, with other dogs.
- 41:29SPEAKER_01: So because I have two other dogs and I'm considered bringing a third in, right?
- 41:32SPEAKER_01: That's important to understand.
- 41:34SPEAKER_01: And like my best friend Lucy has a newborn, and you know how all that's gonna go.
- 41:39SPEAKER_01: So I've been just really impressed with them as and both of ours are rescue, so we've worked with other shelters before.
- 41:46SPEAKER_01: So, anyway, so and what they do is because they're in Houston, that's so cute, they they have this huge bus with all these veterinarians, and they have drop-offs throughout the United States, and they live stream it on Facebook, so you can like watch your dog travel.
- 42:01SPEAKER_01: My gosh.
- 42:02SPEAKER_01: They have a drop-off in Cincinnati.
- 42:05SPEAKER_01: So if if Bear works out, uh we'll bring him home, I think, this second week of August.
- 42:10SPEAKER_01: We would pick him up.
- 42:10SPEAKER_01: So do you like get him for like a trial period or it or so it's a drop-off, like PZRs.
- 42:17SPEAKER_01: I mean, obviously, we could give him to another shelter.
- 42:19SPEAKER_01: I would never do that in a thousand years.
- 42:21SPEAKER_01: So that's why I've like been really into the vetting process because uh I want to make sure it's not just successful for him, but for my two dogs currently.
- 42:29SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 42:29SPEAKER_01: So I did hire a dog trainer.
- 42:31SPEAKER_01: Um you found one.
- 42:32SPEAKER_01: I saw that you posted.
- 42:33SPEAKER_01: Yeah, that's I found one.
- 42:34SPEAKER_01: Um, I forget his name, but I will put it on.
- 42:37SPEAKER_01: It's like pause something.
- 42:39SPEAKER_01: So he's doing a consult with our two dogs alone, I think on Sunday, coming over to meet them, understand them, and whatnot.
- 42:46SPEAKER_01: And then he's actually really great.
- 42:48SPEAKER_01: I told him the whole situation.
- 42:49SPEAKER_01: He's going to come out when we pick up Bear, potentially, to be there to help us.
- 42:54SPEAKER_01: Because that first time acclimation is really important.
- 42:57SPEAKER_01: So when you bring another dog into the home, our current dog's gonna be very territorial, right?
- 43:01SPEAKER_01: Like this is their space, this is where they live.
- 43:03SPEAKER_01: They don't mind playing with a friend, but like when we go to put food out, if they're like, Oh no, like he's eating our food.
- 43:08SPEAKER_01: Oh, yeah.
- 43:09SPEAKER_01: So it's a lot to consider.
- 43:10SPEAKER_02: It's a lot to consider.
- 43:11SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 43:12SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 43:12SPEAKER_01: Um, so so that's one big thing going on.
- 43:15SPEAKER_01: But we're excited to have a third dog, and I think it'll be helpful because as everyone knows, listen to the podcast.
- 43:21SPEAKER_01: Skibby is 14, he's gonna be 15, he's my old man.
- 43:24SPEAKER_01: He's still killing it, though.
- 43:25SPEAKER_01: He's going swimming every week, like doing his thing.
- 43:27SPEAKER_00: It's adorable.
- 43:28SPEAKER_01: But um, sweet.
- 43:29SPEAKER_01: We're excited, and then potentially in the spring, I know, in the spring, we might breed a fourth, which would be a purebred samoyed puppy.
- 43:40SPEAKER_02: That's amazing.
- 43:41SPEAKER_01: So four dogs.
- 43:42SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I know.
- 43:44SPEAKER_01: We're hiring a chip.
- 43:46SPEAKER_01: You're in the Cincinnati area, northern Kentucky, and you would like to be an assistant.
- 43:51SPEAKER_01: An assistant, we are hiring for our house primarily to help with the dogs, but also help with travel, primarily and help with the dogs.
- 43:58SPEAKER_01: Shoot me a DM.
- 43:59SPEAKER_01: Happy to So what else do you have going on this week?
- 44:02SPEAKER_01: Uh my goals.
- 44:03SPEAKER_02: Uh my sister called me today and she said, Hey, our we call them like our cousins, or you know, our cousins, they're they're children, they're turning one, which is huge for my like it's like a big big big thing.
- 44:17SPEAKER_01: We don't even the biggest party that they're never gonna remember.
- 44:19SPEAKER_02: Well, we don't even really celebrate their births.
- 44:21SPEAKER_02: We actually the first birthday is the most significant because we think there's things that happen, obviously, until you get one.
- 44:28SPEAKER_02: We feel like your soul is like connected with the body.
- 44:30SPEAKER_02: And this is in the Buddhist culture, uh, Buddhist or Khmer culture, but um, and it is huge.
- 44:35SPEAKER_02: It when I tell you it is huge, it is huge.
- 44:37SPEAKER_02: So my sister calls me, she says, Hey, like I'm trying to align with your schedule because we all need to go.
- 44:43SPEAKER_02: And so their birthdays are cousins' babies, are like three weeks apart.
- 44:48SPEAKER_02: So both of them want us to like go on that particular one year and one year birthday.
- 44:53SPEAKER_02: And I'm like, I I just can't, I can't make two trips like that.
- 44:55SPEAKER_02: And so as I'm looking at my schedule, and I'm like, oh my god, like there's there's just no way I can't, I can't because I just can't go down for like two days.
- 45:03SPEAKER_02: I want to be there for like a week.
- 45:05SPEAKER_02: And my sister said something to me today.
- 45:07SPEAKER_02: She's like, you know what?
- 45:09SPEAKER_02: She's like, we know that you are really passionate about the things that you're involved in, your projects, your business, your friends.
- 45:16SPEAKER_02: And she said, just don't forget that your family is everything.
- 45:22SPEAKER_02: And I was like, like, don't be so sassy to me.
- 45:25SPEAKER_02: Like, come on now.
- 45:26SPEAKER_02: Like, I don't need this guilt.
- 45:27SPEAKER_02: I'm tired.
- 45:28SPEAKER_02: I have all these things.
- 45:29SPEAKER_02: Like, I'm I'm trying to be a productive human in this world.
- 45:32SPEAKER_02: And she goes, and furthermore, this stung, she said, I think you keep up with the projects and you keep yourself busy so you don't have to sit and really think through like what's happening in your life.
- 45:43SPEAKER_02: And I think what she's trying to throw shade, which I know she's doing it in like a nice way, is like she keeps on pointing out, like, I'm not married, I don't have any kids.
- 45:52SPEAKER_02: And it's okay, right?
- 45:54SPEAKER_02: But I think they're getting to the point that's like you're she's saying, I'm gonna work myself to death, right?
- 46:00SPEAKER_02: I won't let you.
- 46:01SPEAKER_02: But here's the thing I have a very important I have a I have an important meeting tomorrow for potentially another business opportunity.
- 46:08SPEAKER_02: Oh my god.
- 46:09SPEAKER_02: My God.
- 46:10SPEAKER_02: But here's the thing I love aligning with incredible people.
- 46:14SPEAKER_01: Yeah, you just can't say no.
- 46:16SPEAKER_02: I mean, like the way we met and look where we're at.
- 46:18SPEAKER_02: We built a podcast, we're doing the summit, yeah.
- 46:21SPEAKER_02: And I just feel so passionate about my relationships and friendships, just as much as I do with my family, because it's like an extended family.
- 46:30SPEAKER_01: Yeah, sure.
- 46:30SPEAKER_01: So my mom used to always say if you have one good friend to hell with your family.
- 46:34SPEAKER_01: So sometimes you just need them to hell with you, sis.
- 46:37SPEAKER_01: No, but sometimes you need to know that, like, you know, family is how you define it, not not making light of what you're trying to accomplish.
- 46:46SPEAKER_02: So, what basically my my goal actually is to go and see my sister and see my parents, and I actually found a time slot in which I can go visit my cousins and I'll just knock it all out.
- 46:59SPEAKER_02: So perfect.
- 47:00SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 47:00SPEAKER_02: And the other thing that I actually, the other thing that I'd like to do this week is there's this hill in my neighborhood.
- 47:08SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 47:09SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 47:09SPEAKER_02: I've never been able to run up the hill.
- 47:11SPEAKER_02: Like I stop halfway.
- 47:13SPEAKER_02: I have to like rest for a few minutes.
- 47:15SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 47:15SPEAKER_02: I'm almost there with a weighted vest on.
- 47:18SPEAKER_01: Oh, that's I mean, that's some baller shit.
- 47:20SPEAKER_01: I love that.
- 47:21SPEAKER_01: So I might tag you.
- 47:22SPEAKER_01: You better post that.
- 47:23SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I was gonna say hill repeats.
- 47:25SPEAKER_01: I love it.
- 47:25SPEAKER_01: Yeah, so that's my my goals.
- 47:27SPEAKER_01: All right, all right.
- 47:28SPEAKER_01: Well, thank you, everyone.
- 47:30SPEAKER_01: Like, subscribe, and share.
- 47:32SPEAKER_02: We will see you next week.
