- 0:01Transformation of human nature is Not Practical from a
- 0:04standpoint mired within that nature forces, pushed the being
- 0:09in One Direction or another. And the individual is under the
- 0:13power of the Divergent drives, put up by the physical, the
- 0:17vital and the mental being compounded by the impact of the
- 0:23ever-changing, balance of the three gunas or qualities of
- 0:27nature, which either depressed or accentuate the response to
- 0:32the various forces and drives acting on one aspect or another
- 0:37of the external being Therefore, it is necessary to shift the
- 0:43standpoint so that one is not totally absorbed by and involved
- 0:48in the external nature. Shifting to the status of the
- 0:52witness of the nature, allows the secret to observe and not be
- 0:57caught up in the play of the outer nature.
- 1:01This is the separation of purusa, the witness
- 1:04Consciousness and prakruti the active nature.
- 1:10SRI aurobindo writes quote man, is in his self a unique person,
- 1:16but he is also in his manifestation of self a
- 1:20multi-person in quote. Dr. Dalal notes.
- 1:26Quote, in this statement, SRI aurobindo makes a distinction
- 1:30which is fundamental in understanding his explanation of
- 1:34the nature of the human being, the distinction between the
- 1:38person and its many personalities.
- 1:42This distinction is far from a parent to us in our ordinary
- 1:46consciousness. SRI aurobindo continues.
- 1:51The ordinary mind knows itself only as an ego with all the
- 1:56movements of the nature in a jumble and identifying itself.
- 2:01With these movements thinks I am doing this feeling that thinking
- 2:07enjoy, or in sorrow, Etc. The First beginning of real self
- 2:13knowledge is when you feel yourself separate from the
- 2:16nature in you and its movements and Then you see that there are
- 2:20many parts of your being many personalities, each acting on
- 2:25its own behalf and in its own way.
- 2:30Dr. De la comments. We do not possess self-knowledge
- 2:34because we know ourselves not as the person but as an ego which
- 2:40is an identification of the person with the many
- 2:42personalities that constitute the outer nature of our being in
- 2:48terms of sankhya philosophy, we do not know ourselves as the
- 2:53purusa person because we are identified with prakruti nature
- 2:59in this. This state of identification
- 3:01with prakruti. The complex nature of our being
- 3:04is hidden from our view. And quote.
