- 0:00Speaker 1: Yes, hey everyone, this is your girl, SCI Book out
- 1:12Speaker 1: eight four three, and it is another Tuesday night. How
- 1:17Speaker 1: are you guys doing? All right, that's what I'm talking
- 1:24Speaker 1: about today. I have had a beautiful day. South Carolina
- 1:30Speaker 1: is so pretty when it's cool, not flooding and not raining.
- 1:39Speaker 1: South Carolina can be so beautiful. But if any if
- 1:42Speaker 1: it's hot, raining, flooding, storming, I don't like South Carolina
- 1:47Speaker 1: that much. But again, my name is Patria S. Grimble
- 1:51Speaker 1: and I am SC book out eight four three, and
- 1:54Speaker 1: we are here on another Tuesday night, and I have
- 1:58Speaker 1: a new book, and I have a new author for you.
- 2:00Speaker 1: Ok you guys, So you know I put the call
- 2:05Speaker 1: out from my authors because I always want to meet
- 2:07Speaker 1: my new authors. Okay, this author hit me up and say, hey,
- 2:10Speaker 1: I would love to be on your show. And I
- 2:12Speaker 1: was like, all right, let's bring in. Let's bring it.
- 2:15Speaker 1: Her spirit is so beautiful, she's sweet, she's patient, and
- 2:22Speaker 1: she got a new book that's out for you. Guys.
- 2:24Speaker 1: Guess what, it ain't your timing. And you're gonna wonder
- 2:30Speaker 1: why I said that, because guess what, we all know
- 2:34Speaker 1: it's on God's timing, correct, all right, So we may
- 2:39Speaker 1: think that we have it all under control. We ain't
- 2:43Speaker 1: doing anything. It's God and it's his timing and he's
- 2:47Speaker 1: gonna make it do what it do when he's ready
- 2:51Speaker 1: to make it do what he do. So that's why
- 2:53Speaker 1: he said, trust and know that I he is God.
- 2:59Speaker 1: So we're gonna bring up our author, Pamela Nace Johnson,
- 3:05Speaker 1: and she's gonna tell a little bit about her book.
- 3:08Speaker 2: Okay, come on up, girly, come on up. Oh, we
- 3:17Speaker 2: can't buy you. Where are you, hey, sweetie? How are you?
- 3:29Speaker 3: Hello? Hello? Hello?
- 3:32Speaker 1: I am so glad to meet you and enjoin you
- 3:34Speaker 1: tonight in the hot seat. In the hot seat. You
- 3:38Speaker 1: are in the hot seat. But it won't be too hot.
- 3:41Speaker 1: I promise you it won't be too hot, because right
- 3:45Speaker 1: now it's all about you and your new book. But
- 3:50Speaker 1: before we get to your book, tell us a little
- 3:54Speaker 1: bit about yourself.
- 3:57Speaker 3: Yes, I am Pamela nance Johnson. I am not necessarily
- 4:02Speaker 3: a new author. This is my new solo project, or
- 4:05Speaker 3: my first solo project, a thirty day devotional. You're not
- 4:11Speaker 3: too busy. It's God's time anyway. But before that, I
- 4:17Speaker 3: called myself the anthology author because my launch into the
- 4:22Speaker 3: literary world was through writing chapters in anthologies. It was
- 4:28Speaker 3: about twenty seventeen when I was looking for a writing conference,
- 4:34Speaker 3: but I wanted it to specifically be Christian, and I
- 4:38Speaker 3: wanted to be with some other women of faith. Just
- 4:42Speaker 3: so happened they happened to be women of color, so
- 4:45Speaker 3: that was definitely appealing as well. But the Christian Book
- 4:49Speaker 3: Lover's Retreat was a divine moment for me to find
- 4:54Speaker 3: that resource. I attended for two years as a reader
- 5:00Speaker 3: and kind of dabbled in, you know, speaking to people
- 5:03Speaker 3: and wondering, now, how do you get into this independent
- 5:08Speaker 3: self publishing world. But I'm sitting next to and attending
- 5:12Speaker 3: workshops with, you know, best selling authors who are very
- 5:16Speaker 3: down to earth and you know, not gatekeeping, as that
- 5:19Speaker 3: new term goes. But one person in particular that I
- 5:23Speaker 3: met just having lunch said to me, you just need
- 5:26Speaker 3: to start writing. That's what you need to do. So
- 5:29Speaker 3: next time I see you, she said, I want to
- 5:33Speaker 3: hear you call yourself an author. So I said, well,
- 5:36Speaker 3: I'm not quite ready yet. So that was twenty seventeen,
- 5:39Speaker 3: twenty eighteen, she saw me, we saw each other. She said,
- 5:44Speaker 3: are you Are you an author yet? I'm like no, ma'am.
- 5:47Speaker 3: But twenty nineteen, the Christian Book Lover's Retreat has an
- 5:52Speaker 3: anthology call out for people to write. In this anthology,
- 5:56Speaker 3: it was called Back in the Day, and you have
- 5:59Speaker 3: to write a story that was your testimony of overcoming
- 6:05Speaker 3: a situation or being delivered from something of that nature.
- 6:10Speaker 3: So I'm like, okay, this is my time, because I
- 6:12Speaker 3: said I'm not going to see her again and not
- 6:15Speaker 3: be able to answer because she kind of pushed me.
- 6:18Speaker 3: But Roshinda pink Peakins lives out in the Midwest in Missouri,
- 6:23Speaker 3: Kansas City area, and she did not come to the
- 6:27Speaker 3: twenty nineteen but I reached out to her after that
- 6:30Speaker 3: and said, you know, I'm published now I did it,
- 6:33Speaker 3: So that was really how I got started, and from
- 6:37Speaker 3: there things just kept moving forward. I continue to attend
- 6:41Speaker 3: the Christian Book Lover's Retreat, and I'm sure that in
- 6:46Speaker 3: directly somebody pointed me in your direction through a connection,
- 6:51Speaker 3: because most of my network, and I'm very selective, have
- 6:56Speaker 3: come through someone by word of mouth through the Christian
- 6:59Speaker 3: Book lover story. So that's kind of how I got started,
- 7:03Speaker 3: and it all brought me to the place I am now.
- 7:06Speaker 3: I appreciate those opportunities that came in those five or
- 7:10Speaker 3: six anthologies writing devotions with the guests, being a guest blogger.
- 7:18Speaker 3: I'm sorry, and it all brought me to where we
- 7:21Speaker 3: are now. So do you.
- 7:24Speaker 1: Feel that that that was great preparation for you to
- 7:29Speaker 1: get your own book out?
- 7:32Speaker 3: Absolutely, the premise or the design for You're not too busy.
- 7:40Speaker 3: It's God's time anyway. I am a commuter. I work
- 7:47Speaker 3: in If anybody knows anything about the dmv DC Maryland
- 7:51Speaker 3: and Virginia area, if you work for the federal government,
- 7:55Speaker 3: most people commute into the district. My commute usually last
- 8:01Speaker 3: a minimum of an hour and a half ah hour.
- 8:05Speaker 3: So I ride which you you would think it's a
- 8:08Speaker 3: charter bus something of that effect, but there are lots
- 8:11Speaker 3: of us who do that. I am on this bus
- 8:14Speaker 3: and I'm thinking, you know, there are people on here complaining,
- 8:18Speaker 3: people just you know, in the morning, just not very pleasant.
- 8:22Speaker 3: Now I'm not the most chipper person earlier in the morning,
- 8:26Speaker 3: but I'm not complaining and you know, being negative and
- 8:29Speaker 3: all of that. But I chose to sit down. When
- 8:32Speaker 3: I sat in my seat, I said, well, this will
- 8:34Speaker 3: be my quiet time, so I wouldn't write and I'm
- 8:39Speaker 3: gonna pray for my family. I'm praying for these people
- 8:42Speaker 3: on this bus because people got things going on at
- 8:45Speaker 3: five thirty in the morning on the bus. Praying for
- 8:49Speaker 3: the bus driver. Can we get up and down this
- 8:51Speaker 3: highway to work and back home safely, because that's the blessing.
- 8:56Speaker 3: Don't assume because you leave it home today that you're
- 8:59Speaker 3: gonna make it back safely. So I was praying for
- 9:02Speaker 3: those things, protection, safe travel, and then I got my
- 9:07Speaker 3: phone out. I love music, so I'm listen to a
- 9:10Speaker 3: few gospel songs and I would get a scripture. So
- 9:15Speaker 3: I'm having it developed into my own devotion time. And
- 9:20Speaker 3: it wasn't all the full ride because honestly I took
- 9:22Speaker 3: a little nap, but every morning I started doing that,
- 9:26Speaker 3: and then I started to folks post it on my
- 9:29Speaker 3: Facebook page. I'd say, on my way to work with
- 9:33Speaker 3: a prayer. Sometime I type out a prayer, other times
- 9:36Speaker 3: I just say, on my way to work with a prayer,
- 9:39Speaker 3: this scripture. I put the scripture and this song. I
- 9:43Speaker 3: go to YouTube and get a link to a song
- 9:46Speaker 3: or whatever song I'm listening to, so they all kind
- 9:49Speaker 3: of tied in together. I just did that for me,
- 9:52Speaker 3: but I shared it with my friends, anybody who was
- 9:55Speaker 3: paying attention. I started to get great feedback. Every now
- 9:58Speaker 3: and then somebody was say, you know what, haven't heard
- 10:01Speaker 3: that song in a long time, or you know, say
- 10:04Speaker 3: a prayer for me while you're praying, or you know,
- 10:08Speaker 3: that's one of my favorite scriptures, something to that effect.
- 10:11Speaker 3: So I also begin to call these days like commuter
- 10:15Speaker 3: chronicles because those interesting things that happened on the bus
- 10:20Speaker 3: I put. You know, I'm riding the bus and this
- 10:23Speaker 3: lady back here is talking the whole way. I'm like, okay, man,
- 10:28Speaker 3: were trying to sleep, can you It was all I
- 10:34Speaker 3: can do one day to say, okay, Lord, I'm by,
- 10:36Speaker 3: I'm you know, right on my tongue because I'm a pleasant,
- 10:40Speaker 3: nice You said all those wonderful things about me. But
- 10:43Speaker 3: at five point thirty in the morning, we're trying to
- 10:45Speaker 3: get a little sleep before we, you know, get to work,
- 10:49Speaker 3: you are just chatty keithy. I'm like, old Lord, he's
- 10:53Speaker 3: either keep my tongue or do something about her. So
- 10:58Speaker 3: those kind of things I take to get inside myself
- 11:01Speaker 3: from him. Come down, talk to God, go to sleep.
- 11:06Speaker 3: Five thirty in the morning, Yes, ma'am. Yes, and you
- 11:10Speaker 3: said an hour to hour and a half. I get
- 11:14Speaker 3: on the bus now at like five oh five, and
- 11:18Speaker 3: I pull up to my agency at around six or so,
- 11:22Speaker 3: little after six. But it takes me thirty minutes to
- 11:26Speaker 3: get to the commuter line to get on the bus.
- 11:30Speaker 3: But I knew what I signed up for when I,
- 11:32Speaker 3: you know, did this. So yeah, but this.
- 11:37Speaker 1: Is telling me not to complain about Charleston traffic anymore.
- 11:43Speaker 3: Lord, I hear you.
- 11:45Speaker 1: I will never complain. But you had that opportunity to
- 11:52Speaker 1: have that It's not like one on one personal time
- 11:57Speaker 1: because there are others around, but you so had that
- 12:00Speaker 1: chance to have that one on one with God and
- 12:02Speaker 1: be like, all right, my Lord, this kind of day
- 12:06Speaker 1: I need from you absolutely. So I would say that
- 12:12Speaker 1: that's like one of the best ways to well, it
- 12:17Speaker 1: is the best way to start your morning, but a
- 12:19Speaker 1: very productive way to deal with this long commute. And
- 12:25Speaker 1: then it turns into this beautiful book that I'm about
- 12:29Speaker 1: to show you guys right here on the screen. So
- 12:35Speaker 1: tell us a little bit about this devotion.
- 12:41Speaker 3: So I am you see the people. I intentionally picked
- 12:45Speaker 3: pictures of people, like I said, for my community. I
- 12:49Speaker 3: wanted you to see that even if you're riding the
- 12:53Speaker 3: train or the bus, that that is your time. I
- 12:56Speaker 3: rode the train before the bus, and on the train
- 13:01Speaker 3: here they have a quiet car, which means that that
- 13:05Speaker 3: car is reserved, and there are little stickers up there
- 13:09Speaker 3: that say, you know, no talking and no turn your
- 13:13Speaker 3: cell phone off and all that type of thing. So
- 13:16Speaker 3: that was a little different. But I was very intentional
- 13:19Speaker 3: about including everyone as well, So I hope that I
- 13:22Speaker 3: did that. But you'll see the time the clock there
- 13:27Speaker 3: in the reference to the time, but it's not restricted
- 13:30Speaker 3: to everybody traveling. You could be on a plane, you
- 13:33Speaker 3: could be sitting in the waiting room, you could be
- 13:35Speaker 3: sitting in the you know, the line waiting for your
- 13:38Speaker 3: child to pick up from school, because each one of them,
- 13:41Speaker 3: they're not that long. Intentionally, I kind of hit it
- 13:45Speaker 3: and move on to the next one, meaning that I
- 13:48Speaker 3: will give you a little anecdote about me. Usually there
- 13:53Speaker 3: are some things that have happened in my travels and
- 13:56Speaker 3: I kind of highlight a little bit, or I share
- 13:58Speaker 3: a little bit about my fan. So I'll give you
- 14:01Speaker 3: that anecdote, and then you'll get a scripture and you'll
- 14:06Speaker 3: get some words a short message from me, and I
- 14:10Speaker 3: even asked your reflection question and there's a short prayer,
- 14:16Speaker 3: and oh I put a song suggestion. So I couldn't
- 14:19Speaker 3: put the link to the song, but I gave you
- 14:21Speaker 3: a song title and the artist. So I want you
- 14:25Speaker 3: to get the particular song, not just you know, amazing
- 14:29Speaker 3: grace by whomever. I want you to get this one.
- 14:34Speaker 3: So I was very intentional on let me do these
- 14:38Speaker 3: three things and that's it. This is your Like you
- 14:42Speaker 3: said away to one of my friends, say what a
- 14:44Speaker 3: great way to command your day.
- 14:49Speaker 1: Yeah, I was just saying that is a way, especially
- 14:55Speaker 1: when you put that song at the end. A lot
- 14:57Speaker 1: of people don't do that. They would just I don't
- 15:01Speaker 1: want to say, cater you got, but for the lack
- 15:03Speaker 1: of words, they would cater with a passage. But if
- 15:10Speaker 1: you're somebody like me, I love music. Yes, right at
- 15:15Speaker 1: my desk, my coworkers will tell you music is my life.
- 15:20Speaker 1: Even at home. Music is just me and you putting
- 15:25Speaker 1: that that song at the bottom, that that that means
- 15:29Speaker 1: a lot to me. So I would like to say
- 15:30Speaker 1: thank you from all us audio reader readers and audio
- 15:35Speaker 1: music people, thank you for that.
- 15:38Speaker 3: Absolutely because music is universal, but it can be uplifting,
- 15:43Speaker 3: it can be soothing, it can comfort you. I try
- 15:48Speaker 3: to give some diversity, but yes, the music was definitely
- 15:52Speaker 3: important to me as well, and I wanted to make
- 15:55Speaker 3: sure that the music spoke to the subject matter of
- 15:59Speaker 3: that particularly day.
- 16:01Speaker 1: So now remember music, because we're gonna come back to
- 16:04Speaker 1: that later on.
- 16:06Speaker 3: Okay, But I.
- 16:08Speaker 1: Would like to ask in which one of your devotions
- 16:15Speaker 1: I don't like to, but I will put you on
- 16:17Speaker 1: the spot is your favorite.
- 16:23Speaker 3: So the probably one of the ones that I wrote
- 16:27Speaker 3: towards the end, and it's the most current in real time.
- 16:31Speaker 3: Talked about this bus and it definitely emphasizes timing. So
- 16:36Speaker 3: we have a new bus route that I take, and
- 16:40Speaker 3: their drivers rotate every now and then. So one the
- 16:45Speaker 3: first driver that we had, he would come to the
- 16:48Speaker 3: bus stop early, so the bus pulls off at five
- 16:52Speaker 3: oh five, but he would be at the bus stop
- 16:55Speaker 3: probably at a quarter till five, which means that we
- 17:00Speaker 3: get out your car, get on the bus, get your
- 17:03Speaker 3: good seat and all that, and be relaxing until it's
- 17:06Speaker 3: time or until everybody else gets here. Well, this new
- 17:10Speaker 3: bus driver, he doesn't come early. People are out there
- 17:15Speaker 3: lined up, they complaining where is the bus driver. They
- 17:19Speaker 3: saw him get off the exit, but he didn't pull
- 17:21Speaker 3: up to the commuter lot. Where is he? Blah blah blah.
- 17:25Speaker 3: I'm like, but it's not really five h five. He's
- 17:28Speaker 3: not late, he's on time. We just got so used
- 17:32Speaker 3: to him being the other driver being early that you
- 17:37Speaker 3: all got kind of spoiled. And now y'all murmuring and
- 17:40Speaker 3: complaining like the people in the Bible murmured and complained.
- 17:44Speaker 3: But this new guy. They gave the man a hard time.
- 17:49Speaker 3: So I put one in here about that that just
- 17:52Speaker 3: like we want God sometime to do things when we
- 17:55Speaker 3: wanted to do it. We wanted to be early, we
- 17:58Speaker 3: wanted to come right now, wanted instantaneously God, whow, I
- 18:02Speaker 3: gotta wake all of that. So these people standing up
- 18:05Speaker 3: in their bus stop doing just that. And the man
- 18:08Speaker 3: pulls up at five o'clock. Everybody gets on the bus.
- 18:12Speaker 3: He pulls out a mm hmmm. You can't. You can't
- 18:21Speaker 3: tell me when not to come. He's right, you can't rush.
- 18:29Speaker 1: I wonder why we want to rush God. I really
- 18:34Speaker 1: feel like God does us like he bakes the cake.
- 18:38Speaker 1: You can't rush that cake. No, rush the cake. It's
- 18:42Speaker 1: gonna be half done. Just how it take his time?
- 18:47Speaker 1: And I guess and even with the younger generation, everything
- 18:51Speaker 1: so popcorny like pop, that's it the answer, they go.
- 18:56Speaker 1: But yeah, we have to learn hes and just he said,
- 19:03Speaker 1: I am God. Wait and see, wait and see. H
- 19:10Speaker 1: very very it's crazy how you talk about that. And
- 19:14Speaker 1: I just spoke to my daughter a little while ago,
- 19:16Speaker 1: by patients, I just spoke.
- 19:20Speaker 3: To her about it.
- 19:21Speaker 1: So it's very, very, very timely that you said that.
- 19:27Speaker 1: So tell us a little bit more about your book.
- 19:32Speaker 1: What else can we expect from it? What you can
- 19:36Speaker 1: expect is to get a closer relationship. This is what
- 19:42Speaker 1: my desire is that when you look at a relationship,
- 19:46Speaker 1: it takes time to build a relationship and you have
- 19:50Speaker 1: to spend quality time with someone to get to know
- 19:53Speaker 1: them and for them to get to know you. So
- 19:56Speaker 1: how else are you going to get closer in your
- 19:58Speaker 1: relationship or your faith walk unless you spend that time.
- 20:03Speaker 1: So in these thirty days, I want to take you
- 20:06Speaker 1: on a journey, but I'm right there with you. I'm
- 20:09Speaker 1: giving you some guidance. I'm not trying to take the
- 20:13Speaker 1: place of like you said, Bible studies. Usually on Wednesday,
- 20:17Speaker 1: nights some places Tuesday night. I dare not try to
- 20:20Speaker 1: take the place of your Bible study. What I want
- 20:24Speaker 1: to do is enhance it, to just give you something
- 20:26Speaker 1: a little extra, so that when you have that moment,
- 20:31Speaker 1: you might not have time to pull out the full
- 20:34Speaker 1: King James Bible and read the whole chapter, but you
- 20:39Speaker 1: might stick this book in your bag and be able
- 20:43Speaker 1: to say, this is day one. Let me see what's
- 20:46Speaker 1: going on, you know, let me study day one. It
- 20:50Speaker 1: might take you ten minutes at the most, and that's
- 20:53Speaker 1: including the song. But it's quality, not quantity, that is
- 20:59Speaker 1: the importance for me. So I want you, the readers,
- 21:03Speaker 1: to get something out of this to build their relationship,
- 21:07Speaker 1: whether you're a new believer and you need something easy
- 21:10Speaker 1: to read and something you can relate to, something that
- 21:14Speaker 1: is you know, we all go through we all get busy,
- 21:19Speaker 1: but just pause for a few moments and spend some
- 21:22Speaker 1: time with God. You are not that busy. You're not
- 21:26Speaker 1: too busy there, dol. You gotta give him not time
- 21:30Speaker 1: if you expect the blessings from him. If you can
- 21:33Speaker 1: give his time, you will never get his blessing.
- 21:37Speaker 3: And you'll never get to know him fully. This morning
- 21:41Speaker 3: My song was on my Facebook Zion. Zion is calling
- 21:46Speaker 3: me to a higher place in praise. So how are
- 21:52Speaker 3: you going to go higher if you don't ever spend
- 21:54Speaker 3: any time?
- 21:57Speaker 1: Ooh facts, yep, you just yep. How are you going
- 22:03Speaker 1: to go high if you don't have any time?
- 22:06Speaker 3: And if you're too busy? Somewhere in here I say,
- 22:09Speaker 3: if you're too busy, and then I heard this, if
- 22:12Speaker 3: you're too busy, then you're doing more than God ever
- 22:16Speaker 3: intended you to do. Your life. Can't be that busy
- 22:21Speaker 3: that you got time to do everything else except spend
- 22:26Speaker 3: some time with him. That's not what we're designed to do. Okay.
- 22:35Speaker 3: I don't want to preach and you know, hit you
- 22:37Speaker 3: over the head with the Bible, but I want to
- 22:40Speaker 3: give you some word and some encouragement.
- 22:44Speaker 1: Yeah you just roll right down my street and park
- 22:46Speaker 1: right out my front door. Yeah you did?
- 22:50Speaker 3: You did?
- 22:51Speaker 1: I I want to say, about like a month or two,
- 22:56Speaker 1: maybe three months, I've been intentional set my alarm for
- 23:03Speaker 1: five am, and my best friend, my mentor her and
- 23:09Speaker 1: a group of ladies. They get up every morning at
- 23:13Speaker 1: five am and we have a prayer call and it's on.
- 23:19Speaker 1: If you guys want to join for the Crew podcast.
- 23:23Speaker 1: It is every every day five am in the morning
- 23:28Speaker 1: and it's on I think we're on TikTok Okay. And
- 23:35Speaker 1: I saw the blessings that he was that he was
- 23:39Speaker 1: doing in my kid's life, and I saw what he
- 23:42Speaker 1: was doing in my life, and I'm like, I gotta
- 23:45Speaker 1: get I got, I gotta get right. I've got to
- 23:49Speaker 1: reverence you, to thank you for what you have given
- 23:54Speaker 1: to us. Because it wasn't for God, me and my
- 23:58Speaker 1: crew will not be y'all today. So I had to
- 24:02Speaker 1: make sure that was done. So getting up at that
- 24:04Speaker 1: five am, now I'm gonna be straight up and holedge
- 24:07Speaker 1: with everybody. There's some five am ms. I get up
- 24:12Speaker 1: and I fall back to sleep and I tell God,
- 24:14Speaker 1: please forgive me. But then there's moment as I get
- 24:17Speaker 1: up and I have it playing on my TV or
- 24:20Speaker 1: on my phone, and I'm eyeing my daughter's clothes and
- 24:22Speaker 1: just starting to get that atmosphere correct for us to
- 24:25Speaker 1: have that great day. So I said, where are you
- 24:29Speaker 1: coming from? Well, guess what time to go back to
- 24:35Speaker 1: the hot seat. So remember we were talking behind the
- 24:40Speaker 1: scenes and I told you about those fun questions.
- 24:43Speaker 3: Yes here yo, all right?
- 24:47Speaker 1: I have your devotion and you get to choose one
- 24:54Speaker 1: song that always puts you in the correct way mood feeling.
- 25:02Speaker 1: What song? What it being? Why did you choose that song?
- 25:09Speaker 3: Let's see, I am going to go with Oh, okay,
- 25:24Speaker 3: I don't know now if I did, I'm sorry. I
- 25:28Speaker 3: don't know if I needed this song. But it is
- 25:31Speaker 3: my new favorite song. So can I give it to
- 25:34Speaker 3: you anyway?
- 25:36Speaker 1: It doesn't have in your book. Oh, it does not
- 25:38Speaker 1: have to be in your book whatever.
- 25:41Speaker 3: That's great because of the song is the promises of
- 25:48Speaker 3: God are yes and Amen. It's called Promises. It's by
- 25:53Speaker 3: Lisa Knowles. I love that song. I've never heard that
- 25:58Speaker 3: I could sing it. I'm not gonna sound good singing
- 26:02Speaker 3: because it's a female quartet group and I just love him.
- 26:08Speaker 3: You know how you talked about behind the scenes. We
- 26:10Speaker 3: were talking about the museum in Charleston, and you told
- 26:14Speaker 3: me about the church, the church scene, and how it
- 26:17Speaker 3: was the old church in the wooden floors. You could
- 26:21Speaker 3: just picture all of that. Lisa knows Smith I think
- 26:24Speaker 3: it's her last name, but Nose is in their K
- 26:28Speaker 3: N O W L E s. She is part of
- 26:31Speaker 3: the lead singer of the group. This is her song,
- 26:37Speaker 3: but it's called Promises and it just takes you there
- 26:41Speaker 3: because it's letting you know that God's promises are sure,
- 26:46Speaker 3: the yes and a man and it just has that
- 26:49Speaker 3: quartet feel. It's that foot stumping you know, it takes
- 26:54Speaker 3: you back. So it would fit right into that church
- 26:57Speaker 3: at the museum. But I love that song.
- 27:02Speaker 1: I love that. I love that, so for me, that
- 27:06Speaker 1: same exact question, I would you guys this man's church
- 27:11Speaker 1: is run across the street from me and I could
- 27:13Speaker 1: never remember the name, but it's that song you fight on.
- 27:16Speaker 3: I love that song too.
- 27:21Speaker 1: I love that song, so I can see that and
- 27:24Speaker 1: I wrote down that song, so I'm gonna listen to
- 27:27Speaker 1: that once we get off the air, I'm gonna take
- 27:29Speaker 1: a listen to it. Here's my next one question. Your
- 27:34Speaker 1: devotion has been turned into a daily special and you
- 27:42Speaker 1: can have your favorite gospel artists to do one of
- 27:47Speaker 1: the segments. Who would that gospel artist be and why did.
- 27:52Speaker 3: You choose them?
- 27:55Speaker 1: Hmm?
- 27:56Speaker 3: It would be Shirley Caesar because Shirley Caesar is an icon, legendary, timeless,
- 28:08Speaker 3: because she's still she can relate to, you know, the
- 28:13Speaker 3: caravans when she sang with them, and then you could
- 28:16Speaker 3: bring her up to Kurt Franklin. So yeah, she and
- 28:23Speaker 3: I would want to give her her flowers while she's living.
- 28:27Speaker 3: I want to sit to chat with Shirley Seesar and
- 28:32Speaker 3: she just looks She's just beautiful. She just has a
- 28:36Speaker 3: beautiful spirit. When she sing a song, she's telling you
- 28:40Speaker 3: a story. Every song is a story, it's a testimony.
- 28:46Speaker 3: So I would have to say, Shirley Caesar, oh see me,
- 28:50Speaker 3: you need.
- 28:50Speaker 1: To hang out. Oh my god. I love Shirley Seesar,
- 28:54Speaker 1: and you are so correct that she was with the
- 28:57Speaker 1: Caravans and she turned around to do Kirk Franklin. I
- 29:00Speaker 1: loved her when she was with the Caravans because I
- 29:04Speaker 1: loved that old time gospel feel. Or my daughter loves her.
- 29:10Speaker 1: When she did the rap song with Tie Trippitt and
- 29:14Speaker 1: she was rapping, and I was like, get hurt. This
- 29:18Speaker 1: lady has her gospel career has spound. Oh my god,
- 29:24Speaker 1: it's crazy. And she she just seems to evolve, but
- 29:30Speaker 1: she always has God in front.
- 29:33Speaker 3: Absolutely she was It's an evangelism type of music storytelling.
- 29:41Speaker 3: She going to pull you into that story. Whatever she's
- 29:44Speaker 3: telling me. This is how long it is that. I
- 29:46Speaker 3: remember my mother had eight track tapes of Shirley Caesar
- 29:52Speaker 3: plant in the you know, family stationa eight tracks.
- 29:57Speaker 1: Oh my god. My grandmother went to go see her
- 30:00Speaker 1: in person. And this was before Hugo, so it was
- 30:05Speaker 1: twenty five plus years and she went on the stage
- 30:09Speaker 1: with Shirley Caesar and it was this build in that's
- 30:14Speaker 1: it's apartments now, but it was called County Hall and
- 30:17Speaker 1: he used to do all kinds of concerts there. And yes,
- 30:22Speaker 1: and even to today, I have one of my aunts
- 30:23Speaker 1: who loves Shirley Casar loved Shirley Sesaron still does. So
- 30:29Speaker 1: I had one more fun question for you. Okay, they
- 30:35Speaker 1: love your devotion. They say, you know what, now, we
- 30:40Speaker 1: want to do a documentary on you. What actress or
- 30:45Speaker 1: gospel singer would you like to play you in a biopic?
- 30:50Speaker 1: And why? Why did you choose that person?
- 30:56Speaker 3: So actress or gospel actress or gospel artist. Okay, I
- 31:07Speaker 3: cannot think of this actress name right now, but she
- 31:12Speaker 3: is the young lady who was in the Tyler Perry
- 31:18Speaker 3: movie Gosh, what's the name of the movie, where she
- 31:25Speaker 3: was the wife and the husband. Basically, your husband cheated
- 31:31Speaker 3: on her and Shamar Moore was in the movie and
- 31:36Speaker 3: I can't think of her name, but I can see
- 31:38Speaker 3: her face.
- 31:40Speaker 1: Oh, I know exactly who you're talking about.
- 31:48Speaker 3: Yes, her Helen who I just like her. It's a
- 31:58Speaker 3: shame I can't remember her name right now. Kimberly Elise, Yes,
- 32:02Speaker 3: that's it. So I like Kimberly Elise, not just for
- 32:08Speaker 3: that role, but I've seen her in other films in
- 32:12Speaker 3: I just kind of like her style and I think
- 32:16Speaker 3: she's she's a great actress. I can relate to her.
- 32:22Speaker 3: She is a great actress because she brought so much.
- 32:25Speaker 1: Emotion, especially when she she hit on that baseball the
- 32:31Speaker 1: little kids baseball bat. Christina know, ain't Christina but now
- 32:37Speaker 1: but eating up the salad in front of but hey
- 32:40Speaker 1: women scoring?
- 32:42Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 32:43Speaker 1: Hey, So before me and tonight, tell your new readers
- 32:50Speaker 1: you're soon to be new readers, and people who are
- 32:53Speaker 1: already reading your books, how they can follow you on
- 32:56Speaker 1: social media and upcoming events.
