A New Albany company is facing a $10,000 fine—and possibly $40,000 more—for burning hundreds to thousands of hand sanitizer bottles on a property near Blacklick Creek, turning it into a hazardous waste site. The Ohio EPA found burned bottles covering six hundred square feet, some even buried beneath the soil. Though the fine was reduced as an incentive for cleanup, the company still faces a $110,000 remediation bill and could lose the remaining penalty if they fail to complete the 14-week cleanup plan.
