- 0:00Speaker 1: No. The Mark Simone Show. Nine till noon weekdays. More Mark. 710WOR. Well,
- 0:11Speaker 1: it's the final Friday of summer. Autumn begins on Wednesday,
- 0:18Speaker 1: so it should be a great weekend. It's not going
- 0:21Speaker 1: to be warm. It's going to be like the high
- 0:22Speaker 1: will be 70 tomorrow and on Sunday. But you've got
- 0:26Speaker 1: a lot to get to today. Mayor Mamdani... They put
- 0:29Speaker 1: out a big announcement. It has his full name on it.
- 0:32Speaker 1: Do you know what his middle name is? Did you
- 0:34Speaker 1: know this? It says Mayor Zoran Kwame Mamdani. Zoran Kwame Mamdani.
- 0:43Speaker 1: I've never heard him use this middle name before, but
- 0:44Speaker 1: he's using it in the announcement. And the New York
- 0:47Speaker 1: City Department of Transportation, Commissioner Mike Flynn, today unveiled, well,
- 0:51Speaker 1: they want to redo Park Avenue.
- 0:54Speaker 2: Hey.
- 0:56Speaker 1: They want to completely screw up Park Avenue from 46th
- 1:00Speaker 1: Street to 57th Street. In other words, from Grand Central
- 1:03Speaker 1: Station all the way up to 57th. Picture Park Avenue.
- 1:07Speaker 1: It's traffic on both sides. In the middle is a
- 1:11Speaker 1: median with grass on it and trees and a little
- 1:15Speaker 1: park on it. That's why they call it Park Avenue.
- 1:17Speaker 1: It's very nice. I have walked up and down Park
- 1:21Speaker 1: Avenue 50 billion times. Never once, ever, ever, ever. Did
- 1:26Speaker 1: I ever see anybody on the grass on that median,
- 1:29Speaker 1: sitting down, lying down? Never. Why would you sit there?
- 1:32Speaker 1: You could go to Central Park, where it's a very
- 1:35Speaker 1: nice park. If you were to sit on Park Avenue
- 1:38Speaker 1: or lie down there in the sun, all you'd hear
- 1:40Speaker 1: is traffic on both sides of you. And Park Avenue,
- 1:44Speaker 1: between 46th and 57th, as you know, is just packed.
- 1:49Speaker 1: It's bumper to bumper. It's crazy. So the Mamdani plan
- 1:52Speaker 1: is they'll take that little park median in the middle
- 1:55Speaker 1: and expand it. In other words, they'll take away half
- 1:59Speaker 1: the lanes on Park Avenue. It's like, what is it,
- 2:02Speaker 1: three lanes on each side? They'll cut that down to
- 2:05Speaker 1: two lanes. It's already bumper to bumper on Park Avenue.
- 2:09Speaker 1: This is going to make it even worse. It's going
- 2:10Speaker 1: to screw up everything. And they'll put in a big,
- 2:14Speaker 1: big grass median. in the middle, so big that it'll
- 2:19Speaker 1: have a sidewalk in the middle of the grass. There's
- 2:23Speaker 1: a sidewalk on either side of Park Avenue. We really
- 2:26Speaker 1: don't need this third sidewalk. It's absolutely idiotic, absolutely insane.
- 2:32Speaker 1: It's gonna cost a fortune. It's a total waste of money.
- 2:37Speaker 1: And not only is it a big, big, big, wide
- 2:41Speaker 1: grass medium in the middle, but it curves a little.
- 2:44Speaker 1: So there'll be choke points where At some points, Park
- 2:48Speaker 1: Avenue is down to one lane. Do you know what
- 2:49Speaker 1: that's going to do to traffic? It will basically eliminate
- 2:53Speaker 1: Park Avenue for traffic because nobody's going to want to
- 2:57Speaker 1: use it. They're going to stick to Lexington or Madison
- 3:00Speaker 1: or whatever. So it's going to be screwing up all
- 3:03Speaker 1: the other streets. This is an absolute disaster. Now, you're saying, well,
- 3:08Speaker 1: why would they do it if it's going to completely
- 3:10Speaker 1: destroy traffic and make a mess and screw up every
- 3:13Speaker 1: car in Manhattan? Well, that's the reason. They don't want
- 3:16Speaker 1: you driving anymore. It's the war on cars. It continues
- 3:20Speaker 1: with this crazy mayor. Now, the only good news is, luckily,
- 3:26Speaker 1: this mayor has no experience. He's never had a job
- 3:28Speaker 1: in his life. And he could never seem to actually
- 3:31Speaker 1: execute anything. So they put out the plans. They go
- 3:34Speaker 1: before Manhattan Community Board 6. But remember, they never, ever, ever, ever,
- 3:41Speaker 1: ever actually get anything done. So, Let's hope this never
- 3:45Speaker 1: gets done. This will be an absolute disaster. Hey, once again,
- 3:50Speaker 1: it's UN week. The UN General Assembly is already on,
- 3:53Speaker 1: but the world leaders all come next week. So it's
- 3:55Speaker 1: going to be a big traffic nightmare. I don't know
- 3:57Speaker 1: which day President Trump comes, but he'll come one day.
- 4:00Speaker 1: And that will completely screw everything up. Fake news is
- 4:04Speaker 1: all over the place here. Pete Hegseth. They're going after
- 4:07Speaker 1: Pete Hegseth. He's doing a big speech, and he's demanding
- 4:12Speaker 1: that the troops... next to him at the speech and
- 4:15Speaker 1: behind him, be impeccably groomed. He's demanding impeccable grooming. They're
- 4:22Speaker 1: going after Pete Hegseth for this. He is seeking fit,
- 4:26Speaker 1: well-groomed troops to attend his State of the Forces address.
- 4:33Speaker 1: Everything I've ever seen of the military... You're supposed to
- 4:36Speaker 1: be well-groomed. Doesn't the sergeant walk along and fix that collar?
- 4:40Speaker 1: Comb your hair. I think that's part of the military.
- 4:43Speaker 1: You've got to be well-groomed. And fit? I would assume
- 4:47Speaker 1: every one of our troops are fit. I think that's
- 4:49Speaker 1: the idea of the military, fit and well-groomed. I think
- 4:51Speaker 1: you're supposed to be that way. But what are they
- 4:54Speaker 1: trying to claim? That he's deliberately staging who's behind him?
- 4:58Speaker 1: I hate to break it to you. That's every politician.
- 5:01Speaker 1: That's every political rally. They do that all the time.
- 5:05Speaker 1: That's always done. If you're, you know, they all do it.
- 5:11Speaker 1: Donald Trump, everybody, they all do it. You know, Trump rallies,
- 5:14Speaker 1: they're always careful to put minorities behind him. Lots of
- 5:17Speaker 1: minority faces behind him because they thought that might help.
- 5:21Speaker 1: If a guy wasn't great with the female vote, when
- 5:24Speaker 1: he did a rally, they put all women behind him.
- 5:26Speaker 1: Whatever you need, you put it. It's always done that way.
- 5:29Speaker 1: Perfectly normal. Hey, this Kennedy Center controversy. President Trump, now
- 5:36Speaker 1: he sounds childish when he says, well, if I can't
- 5:39Speaker 1: have my name on the building, we might tear it down.
- 5:43Speaker 1: It sounds very childish, but I've heard him explain this
- 5:45Speaker 1: at length. He has sort of a point. You know,
- 5:49Speaker 1: whenever a place is in disrepair, whenever a great cultural
- 5:53Speaker 1: institution needs to be repaired, fixed, it's usually the private sector,
- 5:59Speaker 1: you know, Carnegie Hall or wherever. Usually a billionaire donates
- 6:04Speaker 1: the money to fix it, and then they name the
- 6:06Speaker 1: thing for him. If you go to Carnegie Hall, they
- 6:08Speaker 1: have the Stern Auditorium. That's Leonard Stern. They have the
- 6:13Speaker 1: main hall is the Perlman Stage. That's Ron Perlman. Wherever
- 6:17Speaker 1: you go, you go to cultural institutions, you go to
- 6:22Speaker 1: the museum, the Tisch Wing of the museum, because they
- 6:26Speaker 1: spent the money to pay for the whole thing and
- 6:28Speaker 1: fix it up. So Trump has a point there. If
- 6:31Speaker 1: he's going to be the one, he's going to put
- 6:32Speaker 1: in the money. And he's the one that fixes it.
- 6:35Speaker 1: You're supposed to. It's tradition that you get your name
- 6:38Speaker 1: somewhere on the building. You know, you don't change the
- 6:40Speaker 1: name of Carnegie Hall, but you name the stage after
- 6:43Speaker 1: the guy. Something. So he's not saying take the name
- 6:46Speaker 1: Kennedy Center off. He's just saying put his name somewhere
- 6:48Speaker 1: in the building. So he's right. That's typically done. But
- 6:53Speaker 1: this is different. It's a public building. It's a government-run building.
- 7:01Speaker 1: So I don't know. I don't know. Reporters asked him
- 7:04Speaker 1: about it.
- 7:04Speaker 2: For the Trump administration, for me, to get involved and
- 7:08Speaker 2: to take that on long term and to carry it
- 7:11Speaker 2: or to raise money to carry it, I think that
- 7:14Speaker 2: the Trump administration should certainly have recognition. Because frankly, if
- 7:19Speaker 2: we don't do that, it's going to close.
- 7:22Speaker 1: It'll end up being ripped down.
- 7:23Speaker 2: It's in very, very bad shape.
- 7:25Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't know. I mean, maybe it's been a
- 7:28Speaker 1: little childish, but he's got a point there. So if
- 7:31Speaker 1: he does nothing, the building will collapse at some point.
- 7:34Speaker 1: Apparently it's in total disrepair, been neglected for years. And
- 7:39Speaker 1: it's a government that's been running it and doing the construction.
- 7:42Speaker 1: Apparently they've done it all wrong through the years. Pipes
- 7:45Speaker 1: are all mismatched and they've had tremendous water intrusion, which
- 7:49Speaker 1: is making the building crumble. That's why two weeks ago,
- 7:52Speaker 1: a big chunk of the ceiling just caved in, just
- 7:55Speaker 1: fell down right over the lobby. That's usually where everybody's waiting.
- 7:59Speaker 1: Luckily it was, you know, the weekend the place was closed,
- 8:03Speaker 1: but had that fallen when the place was open, a
- 8:05Speaker 1: lot of people would have been injured or killed with
- 8:08Speaker 1: all that ceiling falling on them. So pretty, pretty, pretty
- 8:11Speaker 1: bad stuff. Hey, that Macklemore, who was Ed Sheeran's opening act,
- 8:17Speaker 1: making all kinds of stink and noise and everything, but
- 8:21Speaker 1: Robert Kraft and all the, it wasn't just Kraft, it
- 8:24Speaker 1: was a bunch of owners of stadiums that didn't want
- 8:27Speaker 1: this anti-Semitic, anti-Israel, awful Macklemore appearing in their place. Hey,
- 8:32Speaker 1: and if you own the venue, of course you can
- 8:35Speaker 1: decide who appears there. You know, if Nazis wanted to
- 8:40Speaker 1: rent your venue, of course you can say no to them.
- 8:43Speaker 1: And if Ed Sheeran wants to rent it, great. But
- 8:46Speaker 1: if he's going to have Macklemore, you can say no.
- 8:48Speaker 1: Perfectly fine. Macklemore huffing and puffing and yelling and screaming.
- 8:51Speaker 1: But listen to John Fetterman, who's usually the voice of reason.
- 8:55Speaker 1: Listen to Fetterman on Macklemore.
- 8:57Speaker 3: Doesn't that guy get the irony? of saying and doing
- 9:01Speaker 3: that at a musical festival when 10-7 started, when Hamas
- 9:07Speaker 3: showed up to kill people during a concert at Nova.
- 9:11Speaker 1: Yeah, good point. The Hamas Holocaust, the genocide that Hamas committed,
- 9:16Speaker 1: the rape, murder, mutilation, robbery, killing babies was during a
- 9:21Speaker 1: music festival. So it is pretty ironic. Hey, here's a story.
- 9:27Speaker 1: You will not hear this reported anywhere. Nobody will. You'll
- 9:30Speaker 1: never see this in the New York Times. You will
- 9:32Speaker 1: never see this on the network news. But numbers revealed
- 9:37Speaker 1: Americans are now richer than ever. Household income has hit
- 9:42Speaker 1: a record high, absolute record high. And over the last
- 9:46Speaker 1: year and a half, the poverty rate fell to its
- 9:50Speaker 1: lowest level ever. This is according to U.S. Census data.
- 9:55Speaker 1: Real median income is up 3% year to year. This
- 10:00Speaker 1: is inflation adjusted, by the way. The highest ever. Americans
- 10:05Speaker 1: are richer than ever. Household income higher than ever. And
- 10:09Speaker 1: the poverty rate fell to the lowest percentage ever. It's 10.2%.
- 10:17Speaker 1: Lowest ever. Highest income ever in America. Lowest poverty rate
- 10:21Speaker 1: ever in America. Pretty good news. So Michigan has got
- 10:25Speaker 1: this crazy Abdul El-Sayed running. Democratic, socialist, friends with the lowest,
- 10:33Speaker 1: most vile anti-Semite, Hassan Piker. Morning Joe having El-Sayed on
- 10:40Speaker 1: for a whole half hour trying to push him over
- 10:43Speaker 1: the finish line. It's a big thing for Elsa. I
- 10:46Speaker 1: had to go do that Morning Joe.
- 10:47Speaker 2: Why?
- 10:47Speaker 1: That could be two, three hundred thousand viewers. In Michigan,
- 10:53Speaker 1: probably three thousand viewers. Morning Joe mostly watched in New York,
- 10:58Speaker 1: Los Angeles and Washington, D.C. Middle of America, almost no viewership.
- 11:02Speaker 1: But Chuck Schumer and his super PAC. He runs that
- 11:06Speaker 1: Senate super PAC. Chuck Schumer is doubling down on. Hassan, uh, no,
- 11:12Speaker 1: not Hassan Piker, Abdul El-Sayed, also a little anti-Semitic, but
- 11:18Speaker 1: Schumer is going to go in there and spend an
- 11:20Speaker 1: additional 10 million in the Michigan Senate race. You see
- 11:23Speaker 1: the key to this, it's an open seat. It's an
- 11:27Speaker 1: open seat. Uh, it had been held by the Democrats,
- 11:30Speaker 1: but the guy retired. So if the Republicans take Michigan,
- 11:34Speaker 1: which they most likely will, uh, then that's the key
- 11:38Speaker 1: to the Senate. Republicans take Michigan, they win the Senate.
- 11:42Speaker 1: So Democrats going crazy here. They're going to go spend
- 11:45Speaker 1: $ 10 million there. Now remember, the Democrats don't have much money.
- 11:48Speaker 1: The DNC has very little money. The RNC has been
- 11:52Speaker 1: fundraising like crazy, has a $ 200 million war chest. So
- 11:57Speaker 1: they can go in there and they can do all
- 12:00Speaker 1: sorts of stuff. So figure Mike Rogers eventually wins a
- 12:04Speaker 1: new poll. 71% think Trump administration lacks plan to end
- 12:10Speaker 1: the Iran war. There's a bad part to this poll.
- 12:16Speaker 1: Also in the poll, support to Israel drops to record low.
- 12:20Speaker 1: That's terrible. Well, does he have a plan to end the,
- 12:23Speaker 1: you don't really need a plan to end the Iran war.
- 12:25Speaker 1: You can end it whenever you want. Just go in
- 12:27Speaker 1: and wipe them out. He just, I don't know. It
- 12:31Speaker 1: could be he doesn't have the nerve to do it.
- 12:34Speaker 1: Doesn't want to do it. Doesn't, Want to see all
- 12:36Speaker 1: that death? I don't know. Could be he's waiting until
- 12:38Speaker 1: after the election to do something. Americans don't understand why
- 12:43Speaker 1: we went in. Well, the reason, it's pretty simple, and
- 12:46Speaker 1: he's explained that dozens of times, as has everybody else,
- 12:50Speaker 1: explained this over and over again. They don't want Iran
- 12:53Speaker 1: to have a nuclear weapon. The thinking is that once
- 12:57Speaker 1: they have a nuclear weapon, it would be impossible to
- 13:00Speaker 1: go to war with them. There's no way you could
- 13:02Speaker 1: go in there and ever go to war with Iran
- 13:05Speaker 1: if they have a nuclear weapon because they are lunatics
- 13:08Speaker 1: and they would use it. So you got to make
- 13:11Speaker 1: sure you do it before they have a nuclear weapon.
- 13:13Speaker 1: So the reason we went in there, they had some uranium.
- 13:16Speaker 1: They were enriching it. They claimed for commercial use, electricity, energy,
- 13:20Speaker 1: that sort of stuff. But commercial use, you enrich it
- 13:24Speaker 1: to 20%. Well, next thing you know, they enriched it
- 13:27Speaker 1: to 40%. If you get to 90%, you got a
- 13:30Speaker 1: nuclear weapon. 90% is.
- 13:34Speaker 1: Nuclear weapon. Well, then they kept enriching, enriching, and they
- 13:37Speaker 1: got it to 60%. 60% was two weeks away from 90%.
- 13:43Speaker 1: So that's why we went in when we did and
- 13:45Speaker 1: took out the reactors and all that. There were two
- 13:47Speaker 1: weeks away from having 90%, which would have been the weapon. Hey,
- 13:51Speaker 1: remember that passenger that was duct taped on the airplane?
- 13:56Speaker 1: He was yelling and screaming, caused a tirade and yelling
- 13:59Speaker 1: all the most disgusting stuff. And there were a bunch
- 14:02Speaker 1: of guys on the plane that had to restrain him
- 14:04Speaker 1: And they got duct tape and they tied him all up,
- 14:06Speaker 1: duct taped him up, duct taped him up. Plane made
- 14:10Speaker 1: an emergency landing. They had to arrest the guy. He's
- 14:12Speaker 1: finally spoken out. And he claims he was drunk. But
- 14:17Speaker 1: they checked. All he had was two orange juice and
- 14:21Speaker 1: vodka cocktails. Orange juice and vodka. Two of them. Could
- 14:25Speaker 1: two make you that crazy? I don't think so. The
- 14:29Speaker 1: guy in the next seat said he was talking to him.
- 14:33Speaker 1: They were casually chatting when suddenly he snapped. It was
- 14:37Speaker 1: over religion. The topic turned to religion. You're sitting on
- 14:40Speaker 1: a plane next to a guy. Who the hell talks
- 14:41Speaker 1: about religion? First of all, who even talks to the
- 14:44Speaker 1: person next to you? Even if you talk to the
- 14:48Speaker 1: guy next to you, where are you going? What are
- 14:49Speaker 1: you going to Chicago for? Oh, I'm going. Why would
- 14:52Speaker 1: you even be talking about religion? But he said, the
- 14:53Speaker 1: guy just snapped. He said, I've never seen someone change
- 14:57Speaker 1: in a split second like that. Well, So it can't
- 15:01Speaker 1: be the alcohol. It's got to be that he was just,
- 15:02Speaker 1: the guy's just a lunatic. He was a real estate agent. Oh,
- 15:07Speaker 1: there you go. Case closed. Lunatic. No, I know a
- 15:11Speaker 1: lot of good real estate agents. No, apparently he's been fired.
- 15:14Speaker 1: He lost his job over this. I would hope so.
- 15:18Speaker 1: He was hollering profanities, racial slurs, terrible stuff about Jesus
- 15:24Speaker 1: and God. Arizona real, you know, see, Arizona. The heat,
- 15:27Speaker 1: it gets to you after a while. Hey, we'll take
- 15:29Speaker 1: some calls next, 800-321-0710 is the number. Call me right now,
- 15:35Speaker 1: especially if you're a new caller. We like lots of
- 15:37Speaker 1: new callers.
- 15:37Speaker 2: 800-321-0710.
