- 0:00Melinda Lee: Have you ever felt the desire to stretch to do something bigger, to do something better to go beyond your capabilities, your limits? That was me when I started this podcast, even though I had been delivering presentations and workshops to large organizations, executives, inside Facebook, Google, VMware, I still felt that this podcast was a stretch for me. Yes, in the beginning, it was exciting. I thought, Wow, what a great idea. Let's do it. I can expand my reach and reach more people. And and then as I started to implement that necessary task, to get this launched, I started to wonder, Am I doing the right thing? putting myself out there, feeling very vulnerable in and not knowing whether all this work that I'm putting in to this podcast is going to amount to anything? Is anybody going to listen? Does anybody really care? Do they even care as much as I care? And so why am I starting and doing something when nobody will listen or care and I felt vulnerable, I felt uncertain. Have you felt that way when you are doing something that really matters, and not certain if anybody's going to really listen. And this is what this podcast is for? People will say to me that, hey, Melinda, you're a natural presenter, you know what you're doing, you've, you know how to do this. Naturally, I'll say to them, it wasn't like that. It took a lot of work and effort, and digging deep, to get to know where I'm at, and implementing the tools and techniques that I know now, to get to where I'm at. And you may feel this way, you may be doing something that's bigger, that is bolder, that stretching you and you need to dig deep, to get that confidence from within. I get it. And that is what we're here to do. Because I know what it feels like to grow up without the right communication model, or the best communication model. In fact, growing up, I was part of a family and ancestry of women who did not have a voice. My grandmother, she was a fourth concubine. That means when she was 25 years old, she was sold into a marriage to a man who was 35 years her senior. Not only does she have to listen to her husband, she also answered to three other wives that were before her. She did not have a voice. My mother, who raised four children ran to restaurants running around. And when things went wrong, she got yelled at by my dad, by workers by customers. And she was such a wonderful heart center woman, she did not want to ruffle feathers, she did not speak up. She held it all in. And so that was my communication model growing up and going into corporate working. That's what my basis was. And so I never ruffle feathers. I did what I was told, listen to instruction very well. And believe that if I worked really hard that they're going to see my talents, they're going to see that I've got this, they're going to promote me. And I recall the day, there I am sitting on my computer working away, and I get an email. And the email is an announcement about a new hire getting promoted before me. What How can this be possible? How can all my work, go a notice? How can they just overlook me like that? I was hurt. And then a week later, my manager walks into my office and says Melinda, I want you to speak in front of 30 executive leaders. My heart sank, my stomach started turning and I thought who am I? Who am I to speak in front of them? I'm going to mess this up. I am so scared. And yet my bigger my higher self knew that I was getting pulled to do something beyond my limits. And so I said yes. I said yes to something bigger. I said yes to my voice. I said yes to finally speaking up. And I knew I knew did help. And I knew I need mentorship. So I did, I got the mentorship, I got the training that I needed, I started collecting the tools and techniques. And I recall that day speaking in front of those 30, executive leaders feeling confidence, speaking with confidence. And not only did I do that, but I also found my calling. And that is to empower leaders to Discovering the Truth and the voice that they have inside discovering their unique voice and using that to make positive change in the world. And that was 20 years ago. And now I've collected more tools, more strategies. And I feel like it's more important than ever, that we build confident leaders that make a big impact. I have a desire to do this. This is my calling. This is my purpose. And every client that I meet, I know it's a divine connection. Because my mother never found her voice. In 2016, she passed away with cancer found in her mouth, out of all places in her body. She held all of that trauma, that stress, holding in her voice for so long, I feel it was certainly not good for her health. It certainly was not good for her immune system. And so this is what I am here to do. She never found her voice. And I speak in honor of her in honor of all the ancestry of the women that are behind me that never had a voice. I speak in honor of them because I feel like it's my duty, I am the first in my line of generation, to be able to choose my profession, to be able to use my voice, lead my life and speak freely and confidently. And I do this in honor of her. And it is my pleasure to help leaders such as you to do the same. I have a daughter, who also I have a privilege of seeing her voice, develop her voice, grow into strength, grow into courage, go into this beautiful young lady that is here to make a big difference. And you're here to do the same as well. And now is the time now is the time to connect deeply to your intuition and your heart and create a world of change that is around you. That is for you. That is going to benefit the community, your organization, in your relationships and be free feel that you can be who you are a deep knowing of who you are. And speaking from that place. It is my honor. And I am so glad to be here and I welcome you along to this journey.
