- Lucas: Hey, welcome back to Learn Spanish with Fexingo, episodio sesenta y cinco. I'm Lucas. Luna: And I'm Luna. So, we've learned tons of vocab — food, family, even how to say we're tired. But I've been wanting to talk about what I like and don't like. Lucas: Oh, that's perfect. Today we're diving into the verb gustar — to like. It's a little tricky but super useful. Ready? Luna: Absolutely. Let's start simple. Lucas: Okay, so to say 'I like something', you say 'Me gusta' plus the thing. For example: Me gusta el café. Luna: Me gusta el café. I like coffee. That's easy. Me gusta el café. Lucas: Exactly. Now for 'I don't like', you add 'no' in front: No me gusta. So, No me gusta el café. Luna: No me gusta el café. Hmm, but what if you like it a lot? Lucas: Great question. You can say 'Me gusta mucho'. Mucho means 'a lot'. So: Me gusta mucho el café. Luna: Me gusta mucho el café. And if you want to ask someone if they like something, you say 'Te gusta'? Lucas: You're on fire, Luna. Yes. Te gusta el café? Do you like coffee? Luna: Te gusta el café? And I'd answer: Sí, me gusta mucho. Lucas: Perfecto. Let's practice with some other things. Me gusta la música. Luna: Me gusta la música. I like music. ¿Te gusta la música? Lucas: Sí, me gusta mucho. What about something you don't like? Luna: No me gusta el ruido. I don't like noise. Lucas: Ah, that's a good one. No me gusta el ruido. So now you can talk about preferences easily. Let's do a mini conversation. Luna: Okay, you ask me. Lucas: Luna, ¿te gusta el chocolate? Luna: Sí, me gusta mucho el chocolate. ¿Y a ti? Lucas: Me gusta, pero no mucho. Prefiero el café. Luna: Oh, that's interesting. So 'prefiero' is 'I prefer'. Lucas: Yes, but that's for another day. For now, focus on gusta. Let's say all our target phrases one more time: Me gusta. Luna: Me gusta. Lucas: No me gusta. Luna: No me gusta. Lucas: Te gusta. Luna: Te gusta. Lucas: Me gusta mucho. Luna: Me gusta mucho. Lucas: You've got it. So remember, when you want to say you like a singular thing, it's 'me gusta'. For plural things, like 'I like books', it's 'me gustan los libros'. But that's next time's sneak peek. Luna: Oh, nice. So today we practiced: Me gusta, No me gusta, Te gusta, and Me gusta mucho. I can already say what I like in Spanish. Lucas: That's the goal. Keep practicing these phrases. Say what you like about your day. See you next time. Luna: Bye, gracias por escuchar.
