Transcript
- 0:01Speaker 1: Here's your host, Alex Garrett.
- 0:08Speaker 2: All right, well, Lou Turmanello, it's Terminello's take. And you
- 0:11Speaker 2: had told me time and time and time again this team,
- 0:16Speaker 2: the New York Mets, would not make the postseason. Yet
- 0:19Speaker 2: here we are they have clinched a playoff berth in
- 0:22Speaker 2: Game one sixty one against the Braves. Francisco Lindor, Oh
- 0:27Speaker 2: my goodness, Oh my god. I guess I would say, Lou,
- 0:32Speaker 2: welcome to the show. Welcome to Terminiello's take. But how
- 0:36Speaker 2: excited are you that you were? Actually, you know, you
- 0:40Speaker 2: might have been a little surprised that the Mets won
- 0:42Speaker 2: it and made the playoffs.
- 0:44Speaker 1: Yeah, I didn't think that they had the staying power,
- 0:48Speaker 1: especially after that when he lost two out of three
- 0:53Speaker 1: to Oakland at home. I thought they were in trouble.
- 0:56Speaker 1: They lost two out of three to the Angels on
- 0:58Speaker 1: that previous road trip, they got wept by the Mariners. So, Alex,
- 1:02Speaker 1: and again thank you for having me. As always, I
- 1:05Speaker 1: thought that they were going to fall just short. But
- 1:08Speaker 1: they were a gritty, gutty team. And we've heard gritty
- 1:12Speaker 1: duddy many times before in sports, but they really are.
- 1:14Speaker 1: They really were, and Lindeorge's back, as you found out
- 1:19Speaker 1: post game, is still not one. But he rose, He
- 1:24Speaker 1: rose his game.
- 1:26Speaker 2: It's almost like a Kirk Gibson like home run in
- 1:28Speaker 2: that instance, right because even he had a bad back
- 1:30Speaker 2: at that homey and Lindor does that yesterday for the Mets.
- 1:35Speaker 2: And why I mentioned the World Series that reference there
- 1:38Speaker 2: is because I do feel like this was the Mets
- 1:42Speaker 2: World Series for a second, just because of no one
- 1:44Speaker 2: thought they even get in.
- 1:45Speaker 1: Right, nobody thought they would be close. You know, We've
- 1:49Speaker 1: talked about a thousand times on uh the podcast, this
- 1:53Speaker 1: was the reset year, reset the organization. Yeah, we'll be
- 1:56Speaker 1: competitive this year, but and then we'll take get from
- 2:00Speaker 1: there in twenty five on. But nobody, not even David Sterns.
- 2:05Speaker 1: And David Sterns who did a good job fortifying the
- 2:09Speaker 1: team during the season when there was bullpen injuries, he
- 2:12Speaker 1: fortified the bullpen. He got Jesse Winker, he got Filmmaton,
- 2:17Speaker 1: who was a terrific relief pitcher for the Mets since
- 2:21Speaker 1: they gone from Tampa Bay. He brought up Jose and Galacis,
- 2:27Speaker 1: who has been a remarkable discovery for the Mets. And
- 2:32Speaker 1: I cannot believe that he was in the minor leagues
- 2:35Speaker 1: all last year. Is a fourteen year major league player
- 2:38Speaker 1: who couldn't find his way onto a major league roster
- 2:41Speaker 1: because of analytics, because he didn't he didn't live up
- 2:44Speaker 1: to the analytic profile. But so kudos too to David Sterns.
- 2:51Speaker 1: The Mets and Mortar competitive. Nobody thought they would win
- 2:53Speaker 1: eighty nine games. Nobody thought they come close to that.
- 2:59Speaker 1: And after the first six weeks when you know, even
- 3:01Speaker 1: Lindor was back in one fifty and Lindor is just
- 3:05Speaker 1: a better player now than when he was when he
- 3:07Speaker 1: first came to the Mets, and he was a, you know,
- 3:09Speaker 1: a star with the Indians, but he matured with age.
- 3:12Speaker 1: He is definitely the leader with a team. He hit
- 3:15Speaker 1: in my estimation, and I've seen the entire Met history,
- 3:18Speaker 1: with the exception of the first two years, where but
- 3:21Speaker 1: from sixty four on, I have a very good uh
- 3:26Speaker 1: grasp of New York Mets history. That was the greatest
- 3:29Speaker 1: home run in UH Mets rate pular season history. There's
- 3:35Speaker 1: no doubt about it.
- 3:37Speaker 2: I mean I can't think of another one. Yes, the
- 3:39Speaker 2: nine to eleven one was very special, but.
- 3:42Speaker 1: Right, it was special, but the Mets were still three
- 3:44Speaker 1: games out. They they didn't win.
- 3:48Speaker 2: Oh, and it's it's Uh, it was quite a moment,
- 3:52Speaker 2: by the way, breaking news and AGAs uh.
- 3:56Speaker 1: Going to the well yeah, I just actually I just
- 4:00Speaker 1: up Gonzaga said to join PAC twelve in all sports.
- 4:05Speaker 1: So that's interesting. I know, the Big twelve was going
- 4:08Speaker 1: after Gonzaga for basketball for the longest time, and I
- 4:14Speaker 1: guess geographically the PAC twelve makes more sense.
- 4:17Speaker 2: Oh it does anyway, So there's that little breaking news.
- 4:19Speaker 2: But no, the Mets in and here's the thing. They
- 4:23Speaker 2: have nothing well against Milwaukee at all. In fact, if
- 4:25Speaker 2: I'm not mistaken, Milwaukee handed them, you know, their first
- 4:31Speaker 2: few losses. It felt like right it was.
- 4:34Speaker 1: They got swept a city field that first weekend in
- 4:36Speaker 1: UH that that first week ind the season, which was
- 4:39Speaker 1: the last season, the last weekend of March. The trouble
- 4:45Speaker 1: that the Mets are going to have is something that
- 4:47Speaker 1: they've had throughout the six games that they played Milwaukee
- 4:51Speaker 1: this year, controlling their running game.
- 4:54Speaker 2: UH.
- 4:54Speaker 1: Pitchers have to be more aware of the running game.
- 4:58Speaker 1: The Brewers have taken advantage of the new rule of
- 5:01Speaker 1: you know of the UH the two the two pickoff
- 5:04Speaker 1: attempts and then uh, the third you don't get them.
- 5:07Speaker 1: It's a book and the Brewers have done that expertly.
- 5:10Speaker 1: They've done it against the Mets. Two a huge detriment
- 5:15Speaker 1: to the Mets. And Mets have to control their running
- 5:17Speaker 1: game if they want to have any chance for their
- 5:20Speaker 1: season to go past Thursday. And it's still.
- 5:23Speaker 2: Because they've read Alvarez and Torren's well or what is it?
- 5:27Speaker 1: I think I think it's uh the new rule. I
- 5:29Speaker 1: think it's it's pictures uh not being able to hold
- 5:34Speaker 1: them on and it's more than just to catch it
- 5:36Speaker 1: because Torrents had Torrens has a tremendous arm. SODA's album
- 5:40Speaker 1: is but uh, it's gonna I'm sure the Mets are
- 5:46Speaker 1: talking about that today in in the clubhouse in the
- 5:51Speaker 1: hotel one before the game starts today. But this is
- 5:55Speaker 1: gonna be tough. This is gonna be very tough for
- 5:56Speaker 1: the Mets to win because they don't have it. They
- 5:59Speaker 1: don't have a day off. The bullpen has shot. You're
- 6:02Speaker 1: not gonna see Diz tonight. He pitched Sunday, he pitched, uh, yesterday,
- 6:09Speaker 1: twenty six pitches yesterday. Film Aiton Who's who is the
- 6:12Speaker 1: setup guy? Pitched three straight days. So I have no
- 6:15Speaker 1: idea what the Mets are going to do tonight. Uh,
- 6:18Speaker 1: sever Reno has to give them length tonight. He has
- 6:21Speaker 1: to have command. He can't be at eighty pitches in
- 6:24Speaker 1: the fourth inning. That that would that will kill the Mets.
- 6:27Speaker 2: But by the way, Severino is like his turnaround though,
- 6:31Speaker 2: because we were there the first weekend and he was
- 6:34Speaker 2: not looking good against the Brewers. He you know, there
- 6:37Speaker 2: was a little thing about it, whether it was in
- 6:39Speaker 2: shape or not, and then all of a sudden he
- 6:41Speaker 2: turns it around mid July. What was there from your perspective?
- 6:46Speaker 2: What was the there was the reason of the turnaround
- 6:49Speaker 2: from Louis.
- 6:50Speaker 1: Well, Louis, I mean, I think you gotta give Jeremy Heffner,
- 6:53Speaker 1: the Mets pitch pitching coach, a lot of credit for
- 6:59Speaker 1: developing and redeveloping some of these veteran pitchers. When the
- 7:03Speaker 1: Mets got signed several Reno, I said, okay, Matt, same
- 7:08Speaker 1: thing when I got Sean Manaiah. Look, look David Peterson,
- 7:12Speaker 1: we're waiting and waiting and waiting for him to contribute.
- 7:15Speaker 1: And he had a terrific year. And remember he missed
- 7:18Speaker 1: the first seven weeks of the season, So I think
- 7:23Speaker 1: you gotta cred Hefner. I know that Manaia changes his
- 7:28Speaker 1: arm angle and Severno knows this would have been his
- 7:33Speaker 1: last chance. Now he has a chance, he may. He
- 7:36Speaker 1: signed a one year deal for thirteen million. Now at
- 7:38Speaker 1: the end of this year, he's going to get more
- 7:40Speaker 1: than thirteen million a year, that's for sure. So I
- 7:45Speaker 1: mean I think, I mean, I think the Mets organization
- 7:49Speaker 1: in the offseason targeted certain pictures that they think could
- 7:52Speaker 1: could help the team without breaking the bank. And I
- 7:54Speaker 1: don't think in modern baseball right now, at least in
- 7:57Speaker 1: this year of baseball. Maybe in the future it'll change back.
- 8:00Speaker 1: I don't think you spend huge money for pictures. So
- 8:04Speaker 1: you know, we'll we'll see what's gonna happen with a
- 8:06Speaker 1: guy like burns On Baltimore who's a free agent and
- 8:10Speaker 1: he's their best picture. He's gonna be a free agent.
- 8:12Speaker 1: I wonder how much money he's going to get, how
- 8:15Speaker 1: much how many years, which is more even more important
- 8:17Speaker 1: than how much money's gonna get. But the Mets have
- 8:20Speaker 1: done a great job. Hefner and Carlos Mendoza always calm
- 8:25Speaker 1: on the bench. He is ten doesn't get rattled, and
- 8:30Speaker 1: I think you could see the chemistry between him, him
- 8:33Speaker 1: and the team again tomorrow night around eleven o'clock or
- 8:36Speaker 1: ten o'clock. The Mets season maybe over, but.
- 8:40Speaker 2: Yeah, but I thin think the Metsican fans got revel
- 8:42Speaker 2: in it as they can right now by the way,
- 8:44Speaker 2: you know, talk about the good moves they also did.
- 8:46Speaker 2: I think calling up Luis Angel like unya, what a
- 8:49Speaker 2: what a turning point. And also you know j D.
- 8:53Speaker 2: Martinez coming back as you mentioned, really good timing for that.
- 8:57Speaker 2: And uh, you know, I just made the right moves
- 9:00Speaker 2: throughout the season to get here, and that included setting
- 9:03Speaker 2: Baby down because at the time Baby was struggling.
- 9:07Speaker 1: Yes, and and then he had a very good rest
- 9:10Speaker 1: of the season at Syracuse and then probably would have
- 9:13Speaker 1: been on the roster, but he broke his hand and
- 9:17Speaker 1: so well, but that's for next year and in the offseason.
- 9:22Speaker 1: This is for tonight and tomorrow night. Even if the
- 9:24Speaker 1: Mets lose too straight and it's over, what a successful
- 9:28Speaker 1: season for the Mets. I don't like the fact that
- 9:30Speaker 1: major League Baseball can't push this series back and along
- 9:36Speaker 1: with the Braves and the Padres back one more day
- 9:41Speaker 1: I mean, really, they got to play today. It really
- 9:47Speaker 1: it's not the best for competitive baseball. Now the Mets
- 9:50Speaker 1: could go in and blow Milwaukee out tonight. I just
- 9:53Speaker 1: don't think it's I just don't think it's good for
- 9:56Speaker 1: the game and Major League Baseball totally screwed up the situation.
- 10:00Speaker 1: They shouldn't have had to play. Yes see, they should
- 10:02Speaker 1: have had this played Monday and Tuesday of last week
- 10:05Speaker 1: when they knew this horrific hurricane was coming. So we'll see.
- 10:10Speaker 1: The Mets need to get need to get some key
- 10:14Speaker 1: production from Jamie de Martinez. Then god, he came out
- 10:17Speaker 1: as over thirty six slump with a couple of hits.
- 10:20Speaker 1: I don't know his slump is over. They got to
- 10:23Speaker 1: get they got.
- 10:24Speaker 2: Viento's arguably the call up of the year.
- 10:27Speaker 1: Mark Fiente's no question the call up of the year.
- 10:30Speaker 1: I mean, what this guy has done in four more months.
- 10:34Speaker 1: If he had been here for all six months, and
- 10:35Speaker 1: he probably should have made the team from the from
- 10:39Speaker 1: the get go. But he looks like a veteran. He
- 10:43Speaker 1: doesn't look scared. We'll see what happens in these two games.
- 10:48Speaker 1: I mean, this is good experience, no matter what happens now.
- 10:51Speaker 2: It was it good that they faced the Birds just
- 10:53Speaker 2: a few days ago. What I mean by that is,
- 10:55Speaker 2: isn't it a good thing? And maybe they can get
- 10:58Speaker 2: back in there? And as from what happen and over
- 11:00Speaker 2: the weekend, I.
- 11:02Speaker 1: Think that there could be some validity to that. You
- 11:07Speaker 1: know that they that they didn't play them in sick
- 11:09Speaker 1: Remember they played them the first series of the season
- 11:12Speaker 1: and the last series of the season, and uh, in
- 11:16Speaker 1: those six months a lot of things changed, a lot
- 11:18Speaker 1: of things changed for the Mets. We know that. So
- 11:20Speaker 1: the fact that they played that they that they played
- 11:23Speaker 1: just two days ago, yeah, I think that might that
- 11:26Speaker 1: might be an advantage to the Mets.
- 11:30Speaker 2: I also think we're gonna see how hot these wild
- 11:33Speaker 2: card series are because some of these teams, when they
- 11:36Speaker 2: get off the wild Card Series and win it, you
- 11:38Speaker 2: know they've gone all the way right.
- 11:41Speaker 1: And I'm not even you know, I don't like to
- 11:43Speaker 1: pick predict stuff. I'm not picking any anybody. Anything can
- 11:48Speaker 1: happen these two out of three series. So whether it's
- 11:51Speaker 1: Baltimore and the Royals, the Braves, the Padres, or the
- 11:56Speaker 1: Astros and the Tigers, I'm I'm not going to even
- 12:02Speaker 1: try to pick them. All I know is if somebody
- 12:05Speaker 1: wants to pick off two teams that I think can
- 12:07Speaker 1: get to the World Series, the Padres and the Astros,
- 12:11Speaker 1: it's it could happen in a two out of three series.
- 12:14Speaker 1: I love the Padres moving forward, I really do.
- 12:17Speaker 2: Oh Jackson Merril is gonna be Rookie of the Year,
- 12:19Speaker 2: no doubt about it.
- 12:21Speaker 1: You know they got they got a fantastic bullpen the Padres.
- 12:26Speaker 2: And I gotta say, uh, it seems like it seems
- 12:31Speaker 2: like the Padres and Yankees benefited from that trade. I mean,
- 12:34Speaker 2: ready thought it was crazy, but you know, Sodo going
- 12:38Speaker 2: Yashioka changing up to culture for the Padres, I think
- 12:42Speaker 2: it worked. It worked out for both teams at the
- 12:45Speaker 2: end of the day, and here they are. I mentioned
- 12:48Speaker 2: so because the Yanks now off till Saturday. And I
- 12:54Speaker 2: think if you're the Yankees, you're a little nervous, not nervous,
- 12:57Speaker 2: but if you're the fan base, you gotta be nervous.
- 13:00Speaker 2: If it's the Orioles taking over against the Royals. I
- 13:03Speaker 2: just think it'd be a little nervous if it's the
- 13:04Speaker 2: Orioles of the first round for the for the Yankees
- 13:08Speaker 2: in the Alds.
- 13:09Speaker 1: Well, yeah, but I think the Yankees are set up
- 13:15Speaker 1: pretty well. I mean, Cole has given them a couple
- 13:18Speaker 1: of good outings leading into the series. Judge, who was
- 13:23Speaker 1: on a home run drought there for a while, finished
- 13:25Speaker 1: that those list ten days just starting starting to hit
- 13:28Speaker 1: bombs over and over. So he's been productive. Now it
- 13:33Speaker 1: all changes, It all changes on Saturday. I mean, I
- 13:36Speaker 1: think the Yankees have The Yankees path to the World
- 13:39Speaker 1: Series is the best of any team that will be
- 13:43Speaker 1: playing in these playoffs. And uh, you know, we'll see.
- 13:49Speaker 1: I mean, like we talked about before, Aaron Judge can't
- 13:51Speaker 1: be batting. You know, he's two eleven in the postseason.
- 13:54Speaker 1: It's time him to have a big postseason. And the
- 13:57Speaker 1: odds are with him that he's going to to have
- 14:00Speaker 1: because the bigger part is he's got that support system.
- 14:03Speaker 2: He's got Soto, he's got Stid, he's got a better
- 14:06Speaker 2: glabor tourist. He's even got a jazzism that could actually
- 14:11Speaker 2: contribute to this team, no doubt. And Austin will Wells
- 14:17Speaker 2: could be work of the Year. But man, what a
- 14:19Speaker 2: great great uh you know, I don't know who was drafted,
- 14:24Speaker 2: but what a great acquisition. By Brian Casher, because he's
- 14:28Speaker 2: really turned out well for the Yankees behind the plate.
- 14:31Speaker 2: So we'll have to see. I see Ben Rice is
- 14:33Speaker 2: making the playoff roster because of Rizzo. Did you see that?
- 14:38Speaker 1: Yeah? I mean, I don't know how much Ben Rice
- 14:40Speaker 1: can contribute. I mean he battled around one seventy. He
- 14:43Speaker 1: had that one signature moment where he does three home runs.
- 14:46Speaker 1: But I don't know if he's ready for prime time playoffs.
- 14:50Speaker 1: But the Yankees have no choice. To you the first
- 14:52Speaker 1: basement and and Risela Unfortunately, that kid can't get a
- 14:56Speaker 1: catch a break, has two broken fingers. And I guess
- 15:02Speaker 1: maybe if they get through the next round, this first round,
- 15:07Speaker 1: maybe he'll be ready for the championship series. We'll have
- 15:10Speaker 1: to wait and see. But even though Rizzo hasn't contributed offensively,
- 15:14Speaker 1: he's still a presence.
- 15:15Speaker 2: And defensive first and all that.
- 15:19Speaker 1: And defensively, whether he's hitting or not, he contributes defensively.
- 15:25Speaker 2: All right, Well, let's let's you mentioned running games, so
- 15:28Speaker 2: let's go into the NFL, because only that's a term
- 15:31Speaker 2: asssue with the NFL. And I gotta say Lou, I
- 15:35Speaker 2: gotta say Lou and to nine and to night against
- 15:40Speaker 2: losing the Denver bo Nicks, who really has struggled a
- 15:44Speaker 2: little bit here in his first few weeks as a
- 15:46Speaker 2: Denver bronco Uh, he looked like he outplayed Rogers.
- 15:54Speaker 1: I mean, I remember play Rogers was because they were terrible.
- 15:58Speaker 1: Hedn't now played Rogers. Bow Knicks was horrendous on Sunday.
- 16:02Speaker 1: The Jets losing that game Sunday was horrendous. That was
- 16:06Speaker 1: on the coaching staff. The fact that the coaching staff
- 16:10Speaker 1: couldn't get them ready to play is unacceptable and in extreme.
- 16:15Speaker 2: I say that, I fire up. That's why I said that.
- 16:16Speaker 2: So lace into the Jets right.
- 16:18Speaker 1: Now, and Alex, you're one hundred percent right. They deserve
- 16:24Speaker 1: to be laced into. I have no idea what the
- 16:28Speaker 1: coaching staff was doing, what the defensive coordinator was doing.
- 16:33Speaker 1: The week before against New England, he blitzed were set
- 16:38Speaker 1: twenty six, twenty seven times. He blitzed this kid four times.
- 16:44Speaker 1: This kid completed seven passes in the first half for
- 16:47Speaker 1: minus seven yards. It's an unex inexcusable performance by the
- 16:52Speaker 1: Jets offensively, defensively, I mean the defensively. Let me take
- 16:59Speaker 1: that back. Offensively, defense held him ten points. They held
- 17:02Speaker 1: him to one hundred and sixty yards. Yeah, they got
- 17:04Speaker 1: gashed on a little bit in the second half with
- 17:06Speaker 1: a running game up the middle. Williams did a nice
- 17:08Speaker 1: job of running up the middle. They they blew the
- 17:14Speaker 1: third and seven which resulted in the touchdown. There was
- 17:16Speaker 1: miscommunications and Courtland center was wide open. But I'm gonna
- 17:20Speaker 1: tell you one thing. Aaron Rodgers dropped back to pass
- 17:24Speaker 1: fifty one times in the game. He got hit nineteen
- 17:29Speaker 1: five sacks, fourteen hits. Alex, I don't care if your
- 17:35Speaker 1: quarterback is forty. I don't care if your quarterback is
- 17:38Speaker 1: twenty two like Jayden Daniels or or or one of
- 17:42Speaker 1: those these young studs. You can't let your quarterback get
- 17:46Speaker 1: hit nineteen times. And everybody knows Denver Blitzer is more
- 17:50Speaker 1: than any team in the NFL. And the Jets looked
- 17:54Speaker 1: like they had never seen a Blitzer in my life.
- 17:56Speaker 1: He was running for his life. They're lucky he didn't
- 17:59Speaker 1: heating get hurt and like he did last year. And
- 18:04Speaker 1: the field conditions and the weather was terrible, But that's
- 18:08Speaker 1: no excuse for the Jets losing. Did it contribute to
- 18:10Speaker 1: an awful game? Yes, it absolutely, absolutely contribute to your
- 18:16Speaker 1: awful game. But the Jets have no excuse. They have
- 18:18Speaker 1: no kick coming. There is no way they should have
- 18:22Speaker 1: lost that game on Sunday. They didn't get into the
- 18:26Speaker 1: end zone. That's on the offense. And if you want
- 18:28Speaker 1: to blame Rogers, if you want to blame the offensive line.
- 18:32Speaker 1: Thirteen accepted penalties, five pre snap penalties, just just awful.
- 18:39Speaker 1: No creativity by Hackett. Who is who is Aaron Rodgers' guy?
- 18:45Speaker 1: That's his guy. But that hot more performances like this
- 18:51Speaker 1: and that Robert Sala hot seat, which we talked about
- 18:54Speaker 1: at being in the year Alex is going to be steaming.
- 18:58Speaker 2: Oh I like that steaming hot seat, especially because he's
- 19:01Speaker 2: not handling a star quarterback well at all. It's just
- 19:04Speaker 2: they're not.
- 19:06Speaker 1: QB Alex against New England and I know what New
- 19:10Speaker 1: England is challenged offensively, like Denver's challenge offensively, But that
- 19:15Speaker 1: game itself against New England, they look like everybody was
- 19:18Speaker 1: on the same page. They look coordinated. I don't know
- 19:23Speaker 1: if they thought they were going to just have to
- 19:24Speaker 1: throw their helmets out on the field and beat Denver.
- 19:28Speaker 1: I don't know, but that was that was one of
- 19:32Speaker 1: the worst games, and I was there. That was one
- 19:36Speaker 1: of the worst games. And I've seen a lot of
- 19:39Speaker 1: those type of games with the Jets, but that should
- 19:42Speaker 1: not happen with this, with this roster. This roster is
- 19:44Speaker 1: too talented. I don't know why Garrett Wilson and Aaron
- 19:49Speaker 1: Rodgers have no chemistry. I don't know what happened to
- 19:52Speaker 1: Breese Hall the other day. He missed the blitz and
- 19:55Speaker 1: he got and Rogers got pancakes from behind. He dropped
- 20:00Speaker 1: a pass, don't I don't get it, and I'm not
- 20:04Speaker 1: you know, I have no idea. This week they and
- 20:07Speaker 1: this week they're going to London to play a very
- 20:09Speaker 1: very good Minnesota team with a very good defense and
- 20:13Speaker 1: with offense that's percolating thanks to former Jet Sam Donald,
- 20:18Speaker 1: who it looks like he's found his way. I'm very
- 20:19Speaker 1: happy for the kid because I always knew the kid
- 20:21Speaker 1: could play.
- 20:22Speaker 2: The other thing that came up was the cadence. So
- 20:24Speaker 2: you were there, Lou, Did you hear the cadence of
- 20:27Speaker 2: Aaron Rodgers? Was it bothersome to you or what?
- 20:30Speaker 1: Well? It wasn't bothersome to me, and I had pretty
- 20:32Speaker 1: decent seats. But Alex for solid to talk about that
- 20:36Speaker 1: post game. That is absolutely mind boggling to me. You know,
- 20:41Speaker 1: like brag about how in training camp they had over
- 20:43Speaker 1: eight hundred snaps on offense with Rogers at quarterback, and
- 20:51Speaker 1: for Sala to say that, it's just ridiculous. And I
- 20:54Speaker 1: know he tried to couch it back yesterday, but that's ridiculous.
- 21:03Speaker 1: And look in the mirror, Robert Sala, because you may
- 21:07Speaker 1: not be the coach much longer, much longer. I don't
- 21:10Speaker 1: know if they'd make a change in the middle of
- 21:12Speaker 1: the season, that's an overreaction. They are two and two,
- 21:16Speaker 1: the seasons still still has a long way to go.
- 21:19Speaker 1: Anything can happen in this league. Look look at some
- 21:21Speaker 1: of the games again that we saw this week. Tampa Bay,
- 21:25Speaker 1: which got which got beaten by Denver the week before,
- 21:30Speaker 1: by nineteen just absolutely annihilated Philadelphia at one point, the
- 21:37Speaker 1: Broncos at the Broncos. The Buccaneers had two hundred and
- 21:40Speaker 1: fifty five yards. The Eagles had none. Yeah, I know
- 21:43Speaker 1: they were playing without their wide receivers. I know they
- 21:45Speaker 1: were playing without Laying Johnson. But something's wrong with Philly
- 21:50Speaker 1: and it's gone back. It's gone back to last year.
- 21:53Speaker 1: So Sirianni as we talked about the two coaches with
- 21:57Speaker 1: the hottest seats, Robert Sala and Sirianni were at the
- 22:00Speaker 1: beginning of the year, Alex, those hot seats are are hotter.
- 22:12Speaker 2: Now. I don't think this coach I'm about to bring
- 22:13Speaker 2: up is hot on the hot seat, Dable. I just
- 22:16Speaker 2: it seems like maybe he is. But I've kind of
- 22:19Speaker 2: told him back that because I feel like, now it's
- 22:21Speaker 2: about the un play performance and you gotta get the
- 22:25Speaker 2: balls from Daniel Jones. I don't care who you are.
- 22:28Speaker 1: Well, again, they could have been a little bit more creative. Uh,
- 22:32Speaker 1: whether when the red zone for for for the offense.
- 22:37Speaker 1: I'm not saying Dables on the hot seat, but I
- 22:39Speaker 1: would say he's on the warm seat. I would I'd
- 22:45Speaker 1: say he's on the warm seat. He's not. He's not
- 22:47Speaker 1: getting a free pass. Uh. This year, we'll have to
- 22:51Speaker 1: we have to see how the rest of the season goes.
- 22:53Speaker 1: They play in Seattle on Sunday. That's a winnable game.
- 22:59Speaker 1: I mean, Detroit put forty two points on them last
- 23:04Speaker 1: on their defense last night, and golf was eighteen out
- 23:10Speaker 1: of eighteen. Never happened in the NFL before and he
- 23:13Speaker 1: also caught a touchdown pass. So that's a memorable game
- 23:18Speaker 1: for golf. So the Giants have a winnable game. I
- 23:22Speaker 1: don't know if it becomes a high scoring game, the
- 23:25Speaker 1: Giants could could match a team like Seattle. But that's
- 23:28Speaker 1: a winnable game, no doubt about it. And I think
- 23:31Speaker 1: after that, I think they played the Bengals next week
- 23:33Speaker 1: at home on Sunday night. And you know, the Bengals
- 23:36Speaker 1: have been especially they're defensively poor. So again, the Giants
- 23:41Speaker 1: can win these games, but their roster to the jug
- 23:46Speaker 1: to the MetLife ground screw.
- 23:48Speaker 2: Neil had to turn over the MetLife Blue to the
- 23:51Speaker 2: Jet Green, you know, Big blueed Jet Green in the
- 23:55Speaker 2: next couple of weeks here because they're doing back to
- 23:57Speaker 2: back there, you know, night night primetime game, so it'll
- 24:01Speaker 2: be interesting to see all that going on too.
- 24:03Speaker 1: But yeah, those guys are well versed in turning the
- 24:07Speaker 1: field over those stadium workers.
- 24:10Speaker 2: I can't believe the Jets have one one one o'clock game.
- 24:14Speaker 2: That is ridiculous to me.
- 24:16Speaker 1: That's why, Alex, that's why I went to the game
- 24:18Speaker 1: on Sunday, because I'm not going at nine o'clock or
- 24:21Speaker 1: a dirty at night and the Moore that's for sure.
- 24:23Speaker 1: Now they might have some one o'clock games in December,
- 24:26Speaker 1: depending on if they're flex into a night game or
- 24:32Speaker 1: or not so so we'll see. But getting back to
- 24:35Speaker 1: the Jets, Alex, that was a putrid performance on Sunday.
- 24:41Speaker 1: But if if Zerline kicks it through as putrid as
- 24:44Speaker 1: it was, it's a way. Yeah.
- 24:46Speaker 2: He's normally a reliable kicker. That's why I'm a shocked
- 24:49Speaker 2: he missed it.
- 24:49Speaker 1: Well, it is still fifty yards on the wet field
- 24:53Speaker 1: in the rain, and he just missed it. Just was
- 24:56Speaker 1: wide right. As a matter of fact, most of the
- 24:58Speaker 1: way down the kick, it looked like it was gonna
- 25:02Speaker 1: go through and the fans in the end zone were cheering,
- 25:06Speaker 1: and then it just veered wide right. They shouldn't have
- 25:11Speaker 1: been in that position, Alex. They shouldn't have been in
- 25:13Speaker 1: that position.
- 25:15Speaker 2: By the way, why right the the tri stage effected
- 25:18Speaker 2: did happen on on on the over the weekend because
- 25:23Speaker 2: even the Bills loss, and I thought that was a
- 25:25Speaker 2: shocking loss considering they were probably favorite heading in against
- 25:29Speaker 2: the Ravens, weren't they.
- 25:30Speaker 1: There were not, they were underdogs. They were two and
- 25:32Speaker 1: a half or three point underdogs, depending on your on
- 25:34Speaker 1: your favorite betting service. I actually thought the Ravens would
- 25:38Speaker 1: win Sunday night. But the Ravens are The Ravens are,
- 25:43Speaker 1: like the Steelers, the two best organizations in the NFL.
- 25:47Speaker 1: And the Steelers lost to it at Indianapolis, which I
- 25:49Speaker 1: never thought would happen, Joe Flatto coming off the bench
- 25:52Speaker 1: to uh to lead them to victory. But yeah, no,
- 25:58Speaker 1: I mean, the AFC is tough, and uh, we'll see,
- 26:01Speaker 1: we'll see, We'll see what happens. But uh, I'm gonna
- 26:04Speaker 1: I'm gonna say one other thing. I'm not gonna make
- 26:06Speaker 1: a prediction, but if if Aaron Rodgers sees that this
- 26:12Speaker 1: coaching staff doesn't know what the hell they're doing, he
- 26:15Speaker 1: might he might retire to the uh, to the world
- 26:20Speaker 1: of media, because somebody will hire him for media in
- 26:22Speaker 1: a hurry. And he's because he talks well and he's
- 26:25Speaker 1: he is very very uh you know, he's got he's
- 26:30Speaker 1: a deep thinker, he's so uh. So we'll see. But
- 26:34Speaker 1: that was a horrendous Jet performance on Sunday. I thought
- 26:39Speaker 1: the Jets were past that, But as a long suffering
- 26:43Speaker 1: Jets fan, I was kidding myself again.
- 26:48Speaker 2: All right, Well, one last thing, speaking of long suffering,
- 26:53Speaker 2: the fight for Pete Rose to get in the Hall
- 26:56Speaker 2: of Fame. He now has to take that fight, you know,
- 27:00Speaker 2: unfortunately to the grave because he passed. And if they're
- 27:04Speaker 2: doing ducked Pete Rose now it would be so disingenuous.
- 27:08Speaker 2: Lou I mean, should have done hm while he was alive.
- 27:12Speaker 2: Kind of shocking news of that Pete Roses got dead
- 27:15Speaker 2: at eighty three. I was kind of surprised to hear that. Yesterday.
- 27:18Speaker 1: I was too. I mean, I have no idea if
- 27:21Speaker 1: you just had a heart attack and or stroke. I
- 27:24Speaker 1: don't believe he was sick. He was sick. It was
- 27:26Speaker 1: not being publicized. The cause of death was not released
- 27:30Speaker 1: last night when it was announced that he had passed away.
- 27:34Speaker 1: I saw his entire career. He was a fantastic player.
- 27:38Speaker 1: He made himself a fantastic player. He was always working.
- 27:43Speaker 1: He ran to first base in an exhibition game in
- 27:46Speaker 1: sixty three, which he was in a nationally Brookie of
- 27:50Speaker 1: the year. They were playing the Yankees in spring training
- 27:53Speaker 1: in those days. That was the young time he played
- 27:55Speaker 1: interleague besides besides the World Series and Whitey Ford and Mantle.
- 28:02Speaker 1: Mickey Mantle saw him run the first base on the
- 28:04Speaker 1: wall and said, look at Charles, and they said it
- 28:07Speaker 1: in a negative way, look at that guy, Charlie Hustle.
- 28:10Speaker 1: Well that that nickname stuck forever in a positive way.
- 28:14Speaker 1: With Pete Rose, I mean four thousand, two hundred and
- 28:20Speaker 1: fifty six hits All timer, he was the MVP of
- 28:24Speaker 1: in seventy three. He was a seventy five World Series MVP.
- 28:29Speaker 1: King was an All Star at five different positions Alex
- 28:31Speaker 1: He played first, he played second, he played third, he
- 28:33Speaker 1: played left, he played right, two golden gloves, A seventeen
- 28:38Speaker 1: time All Star, a forty four game Hanging Street. The
- 28:43Speaker 1: guy was a spectacular player, and of course his on
- 28:46Speaker 1: field performance deserves one hundred percent approval into the Baseball
- 28:56Speaker 1: Hall of Fame. I think he had suffered enough. He
- 29:00Speaker 1: was banned from baseball and eighty nine August of eighty nine, Yes,
- 29:04Speaker 1: he did a lie saying you never bet on this team,
- 29:06Speaker 1: and then about ten years ago said yeah, I did.
- 29:10Speaker 1: But there comes a point where you have to separate.
- 29:16Speaker 1: He suffered enough, in my opinion. And the thing is
- 29:20Speaker 1: Major League Baseball in the Hall of Fame has a
- 29:23Speaker 1: lot of his artifacts. I think the back that he
- 29:26Speaker 1: you know, the forty four game hitting streak, things like that,
- 29:29Speaker 1: But they don't have the guy in there, and I
- 29:35Speaker 1: think I think he should be in. But now, as
- 29:38Speaker 1: you and I agree with you, if they put him
- 29:40Speaker 1: in now, they would look like a bunch of frauds.
- 29:42Speaker 1: And it is disingenuous. But Alex a joy to watch,
- 29:50Speaker 1: A joy to watch, I.
- 29:53Speaker 2: Can only imagine. All Right, lud Terminal, thanks for joining
- 29:55Speaker 2: Terminala's take for this week, and LGM all those are
- 30:01Speaker 2: the hashtag and the initials. We got to think about
- 30:03Speaker 2: this week.
- 30:04Speaker 1: Right, Yeah, I mean I have no idea what's gonna happen.
- 30:07Speaker 1: I mean it's it's going to be a challenge for
- 30:09Speaker 1: the for the Mets to get out of this two
- 30:11Speaker 1: out of three. Like I said, the season's been successful
- 30:14Speaker 1: no matter what happens. But I'm gonna tell you one
- 30:17Speaker 1: thing they can get if they get out of this series.
- 30:20Speaker 1: Watch out watch Out.
- 30:22Speaker 2: Well, they were one of the best teams in the
- 30:25Speaker 2: l most of June through September, so there's that. Hey, Louke,
- 30:29Speaker 2: thanks so much for joining me on the Alex Garrett
- 30:31Speaker 2: One Look Up Network today.
- 30:33Speaker 1: Alex you're the best and I appreciate you always having me.
- 30:36Speaker 1: Thank you so much.
