- 0:25So I've not really planned a format here, guys. I figured we keep
- 0:28this quite loose, Lucy goosey, because I know you've prepared, like so
- 0:31many things. You like, I'm loose. That's how you start. That's
- 0:33your first words of twenty twenty three listeners. Yeah, I don't even know
- 0:38if that's true. I don't know. I don't think it's trying difference.
- 0:41I don't know why people say that all training comments. No, I think
- 0:47I'm just gonna let it. You're like, loose or not, it's gonna
- 0:51want to build on top of the thing I just put down for you.
- 0:54It's gonna let all that hang out in the air like a bad fart.
- 1:00Well, look, welcome back to gate Leapers. It's twenty twenty three.
- 1:03It's a new year. And before we get going with a fantastic lineup of
- 1:07games. Holy shit, the fandoms we have planned this year, the games,
- 1:11the guests, there's a lot we've we've been busy bees over the Christmas
- 1:14period. Yes, but before we get to that, Jason has so kindly
- 1:18prepared a whole load of stats info figures, numbers on the last two years
- 1:26of gate Leapers. Yes, I just now realize that's a new stat right
- 1:29here, to one more than the last. Yeah, yes, thank you
- 1:36for that. Yeah. No, I've been compiling some numbers. I've been
- 1:38in the back office here being a number monkey, and I've got some stats
- 1:42for you. So welcome to stat Leepers pop culture. Yes, love it,
- 1:49We love it all right, so without I mean, we can just
- 1:53get straight into it. Honestly, absolutely, I like I like gate Leapers
- 1:57because it's a game and something that is fascinating about sports that I never got
- 2:00into is stat based things. That's true. So I mean, just starting
- 2:04off broadly. In the last two years, we've had a total of thirty
- 2:08eight episodes, oh forty if you count both the September episode okay and the
- 2:15Christmas special that we released, So yes, forty episodes. Forty episodes.
- 2:19Yeah, at least thirty eight full panel games. That's yeah. Yeah,
- 2:23you've written a lot. Yeah, thank you. Yeah. Yeah, I
- 2:28mean there's a listeners might know. There's a bit of a template there.
- 2:30So yeah, it doesn't take me too long to write each episode. But
- 2:34it's just good. Every question must be conceived of absolutely, like it's a
- 2:38lot of conception. Yes, it's Yeah, it's it's a lot of work,
- 2:42and thankfully it's exactly what I want to be doing on this planet,
- 2:46so it doesn't feel like work. That's fantastic. Yeah. Um, of
- 2:51those forty episodes or thirty eight full panel episodes, thirty three different fandoms?
- 2:55Oh, which is interested? Yeah, so we've repeated a couple a few
- 3:00Yeah, and I was going to say I was going to say, yeah,
- 3:07but I don't know, like, did we do one of them three
- 3:09times at any point in time? And then what is what is that paring
- 3:14the breakdown? I know we've done Dungeons and Dragons twice, I believe,
- 3:17Yes, have we Wait, I don't think we have the Witch stats because
- 3:23I wasn't expecting that one. I don't think we have. We've done Marvel
- 3:30several times, Yeah, that show. We have done Harry Potter several times.
- 3:35Sequel Yeah yeah, well the first one with our Jen Reagan and then
- 3:38the other ones with Pete and Graham. Yes. Yeah. Oh can we
- 3:42say can we say nice things about the guests as we mentioned them? Absolutely,
- 3:46I have stats on specific guests. Well, I'll say nice things then
- 3:49I'll save it for that. Yeah yeah yeah, Um, and then I'm
- 3:53trying to think of other ones that we don't. I think it's honestly those
- 3:54two just much just a lot we must have WW that is the other one.
- 4:00General I kept aw separate, separate, ruthless aggression in WWE. Yeah,
- 4:05we're repeats absolutely uh Lord of the Rings No, no, just the
- 4:11one yeah yeah yeah maybe yeah, because there's gonna be a movie coming out.
- 4:18Yeah yeah, we do like r SEO um so on the on the
- 4:25point of Audre being on episodes, yes, appearance wise, yes, now
- 4:30you would think, you know, us being the co captains and regulars,
- 4:32that number would be the same. Audre does have slightly more appearances than me.
- 4:36Yea, she has uh forty, you know, and every every episode
- 4:42season regular. Yeah, I've had thirty nine. September episode was one missing
- 4:46me. Oh of course. That was when we were trying out the new
- 4:48Folmatt Yeah, and potentially playing around with a bit more topical stuff. Look,
- 4:53if I could clone myself and there could be two of me, we
- 4:57absolutely would release that every month as a patrio on bonus, because I love
- 5:00doing the topical things of like what do you remember from this last month?
- 5:04In fandom and stuff that would be hard to do on the regular without like
- 5:08a dedicated cast of funny people that we could rely on once a month.
- 5:12But yeah, where are you going to find funny people in this economy?
- 5:16Well, we're going to find them. The thing is lots of guests that
- 5:19we've had over the months, and I guess he is hilarious. I still
- 5:26find it amazing that I can reach out to someone who I'm like. I
- 5:29listen to their work, be they a podcaster or a writer, whatever it
- 5:32is they do, and I listened to it and I go, oh wow,
- 5:34they're funny, affable, they seem like they'd be great to get on
- 5:38with, and they're really obsessed with this one fandom. Yeah, let's get
- 5:42them on. Yeah, yeah, I mean I don't think we've had a
- 5:45bad guest. I think I think we've had guests that are better than others.
- 5:48But I don't think we've had a bad guest better than others. So
- 5:55let's let's get to the meat and potatoes of it. I mean, yes,
- 5:57we do want to get into some specific guests, but me and are
- 6:00being the ones who are on the show the most, captain the most stats
- 6:04to pull from, because, as we know, larger pool yep, the
- 6:08more accurate, right, I think this is the thing that most people want
- 6:10to hear. Yes, absolutely, So let's let's stop the episode after we
- 6:15jokes. Yeah, um, we cannot count jokes. However, what we
- 6:19can count, can we guess? First? Cannot Please do make predictions between
- 6:25me and are Yeah, like who has won the most games? Let's do
- 6:28who has won the most games? And how many points? Do you think
- 6:30me and Adra has have? Have? Has? Have we had? We
- 6:34currently have? Yes? Yes? How much do we You actually have the
- 6:39totals that I have? The totals per season and total period? Okay,
- 6:44thirty eight full episodes? Thirty eight full episodes? Yes, with competition,
- 6:47yep, averaging. I'll tell you right now that most episodes average anywhere in
- 6:53the teens. But the early seasons we did get into the low numbers,
- 6:57but most of them are are well within the teens, sometimes breaching twenty points.
- 7:00I yeah, because this this is not gonna be fully accurate because sometimes
- 7:04I don't make the games to balance. I don't balance the games. There's
- 7:08no balance. No. Um. I think out between Jason and Aldra as
- 7:13captains, observing as the game master who plays the games, runs the games,
- 7:17and then as soon as they're done and edited, I don't really think
- 7:19about them. I had to think a lot about these episodes. I think
- 7:24it might be close, because I think Jason, I think you're you're gonna
- 7:28pip it. I think I think you Okay, maybe you've maybe won like
- 7:30four or five more episodes than aldre guess, Okay, yeah, and for
- 7:35balance, you know, that's that's what games are about, is balance.
- 7:39Um, I'm gonna go for me. Yeah, nice by one episode episode
- 7:45Okay, fantastic, Yes, absolutely, so we'll go, we'll go.
- 7:46Let's let's do this right. In season one, Audra had a total of
- 7:54two hundred and forty five points. That's a lot of points. Season one.
- 7:58Those are the days of one v one v one. That's a lot
- 8:01of points. Yeah. I in season one, Yes, had a total
- 8:05of two hundred and twenty six. Oh so I had less so older one
- 8:09season one. From that, Yes, Audra also won season one in the
- 8:13sense that she had four total wins okay, and I had three wins and
- 8:18one tie Mario episode Yes, and which I believe Ben eventually won for you
- 8:26know, making right the trophy. Yeah, that means absolutely absolutely how many
- 8:31in season one? How many did guests win? How many? How many
- 8:35of the episodes? How many of the episodes to guess win? Let me
- 8:37suppose I could work that out from however many I won, plus, however
- 8:41many Jason won? Minus? Whatever it is, and that will give you
- 8:45a negative answer. Hold on, let me count this one. I feel
- 8:50like eight is the number. You might be close because I'm looking at it.
- 8:54Sixteen total episodes, Yes, you're no? Sorry, seven you're really
- 9:00seven? Okay? No? Eight? Eight? Jen had one on top
- 9:03yep, there we go, yep so eight episodes. That is absolutely correct.
- 9:05Eight episodes, so ultra sort of one unless the guests are because in
- 9:11a one v one v one format, it's not so much captain v captain.
- 9:13No, it's Therefore, I would say that season one was won by
- 9:16the guests team guests. Yeah, I would say absolutely, lots of wins
- 9:20by guests. There lots of points by guests as well. Now in season
- 9:24two, me and Audra, yes, I had four hundred and twenty five.
- 9:28Hello, you could could have gotten five and with them big Prince of
- 9:35Egypt preference nice five fewer points you couldn't have gone for that? Could you
- 9:41finish and I tried, but uh, that's true. You are. Ardra
- 9:48came out with four hundred forty five point five points. Again with Audra total
- 9:56wise, if you're doing, if you're out there busting out your calculator,
- 9:58your little number monkeys. You we've never had names for our fans, and
- 10:05we call them number one. I think we should go with the leap frogs
- 10:07or yeah it is. I've been thinking about this for a little bit.
- 10:13Dude, that's amazing. Let's climb that right now. Yeah, hey frogs.
- 10:16If you're listening to this, you're probably a super fan of Gate Leaperson
- 10:18that you're interested in the stats pots of things. Do you consider yourself a
- 10:22leap frog? Lets no, do you leap frog army? Rip it off?
- 10:28Rip it off? Croap for me? Totals wise, what that amounts
- 10:37to is Audre has a total of six hundred and ninety points. Oh sorry,
- 10:41six hundred ninety point five points. Don't have a half point? Yeah,
- 10:46and then I have six hundred and fifty one. Now that's a lot
- 10:48of points. As we're gonna get into it. You know, even our
- 10:52most well achieving players, I don't think reach any of them reach one hundred
- 10:56points. I mean so, but you guys are on every episode. We're
- 10:58on every episode. So to really get a good look at that, you
- 11:03gotta do points per game average, and I have that as well. What
- 11:07Hobviously, Audre beats me out has in total fifteen wins to my thirteen wins.
- 11:13Audra's point average per game is about seventeen point seven one points. Okay,
- 11:20so in the teens, like I said, high teens, pretty average
- 11:24score. I seventeen point one three, so low seventeens. But we're in
- 11:28within the same margin of each other. The Yeah, it just compounds over
- 11:33time, and you just revealed that the overall by combining them together. So
- 11:37the current score is fifteen to Audre thirteen self chase, that is correct?
- 11:41Is correct? Now, I will say, I don't know how people do
- 11:45this in regular sports. I have two ties, only has one. A
- 11:50tie is not a win, you know. And I have thirty I've I
- 11:54have thirty nine appearances, you know. You know. I think the number
- 11:58of ties would actor if you were both tied, size would count your absolutely.
- 12:05I probably need to stop saying the word tie tie. I think I'm
- 12:09also counting in that number. The September episode okay, but not the Christmas
- 12:16episode because I think we just won our loss. I don't think there was
- 12:18points given during the No, that's been a fun that was been silly.
- 12:22So I am counting the September episode because I wasn't on that one, and
- 12:24I'm going to give credit where credit is due for Audra to know points for
- 12:31average, well points points average, Okay, yeah, yeah, yes,
- 12:35that's fine, Yeah, I'll accept it. Yeah. Now that's me and
- 12:39Audra's points. Yes, yeah, we're the co count since we've been on
- 12:43every episode, there are some interesting facts about points for our guests, okay,
- 12:48the ones that make our game right, yes, absolutely. Now the
- 12:50funnest one is, if we do not count the September episode, our friend
- 12:56Christopher Reagan currently has sixty nine points. Oh nice, nice, you're a
- 13:03genius. You see the Long Game. I've always respected that about Chet in
- 13:09the Long Game. Yeah right, you'll eventually get to four twenty, we
- 13:13know it. Well hell yes, um, But if we do count this
- 13:16September episode, he has a tee total. All right, Okay, I
- 13:20don't nine. I don't think he does either, just knowing him, I
- 13:24don't think he does. All right, Now, points per average points per
- 13:30game okay, um, Because they have not been appearing on as many episodes,
- 13:35these numbers are slightly skewed. However, still respect or respect is due,
- 13:39right. Yeah. We have a couple of players who have preached over
- 13:43twenty game twenty points per game, okay, is one of them Jen?
- 13:48One of them is not Jen? Oh wow? Jen Reagan uh currently has
- 13:54a average points per game of eighteen point two okay, point two, pretty
- 14:00pretty hot, more than the captain's Yeah yeah, yeah, yeah yeah.
- 14:05I mean because, as Jen will remind me on the regular, she is
- 14:09unbeaten on gate leapers and that will remain in place, and the captain that
- 14:13causes her to lose will feel her rasp. Oh but that's a that's a
- 14:16good segue into Jen has the longest winning streak YEP, five out of five.
- 14:22I believe I'm counting the September episode in that one. YEP. Didn't
- 14:24need the stats for that one. I know that fact that one. Now
- 14:30she has ninety one total points um, like I said, eight ten point
- 14:33two overall average. She is the most impressive win ratio at one hundred percent.
- 14:35YEP. There's many many guests with that moon ratio. Of course,
- 14:39but you've only appeared once. Come on a couple more times and see if
- 14:43that stays up. Yeah, and that'll be impressive that quick. Someone the
- 14:46throne, Jen Jen, We love you, We love you. The narrative
- 14:52of this year is bringing you down. Yes, yes, absolutely all right.
- 14:56Now, so for people who have entered call hall of Fame and honorable
- 15:01mention, however you want to refer to it as our good friend. Drew
- 15:05averages twenty point eight three points for a game. That's great, That is
- 15:09great. His win ratios at a thirty three point three three three three.
- 15:13That's fine. Drew's here, it's a score a load of points, have
- 15:16some fun, and then get out of here. Yeah, get the fuck
- 15:20out of here. Yeah, he has sixty two point five total points.
- 15:24Nice and it's not nice, not sixty nine good. It's not nice.
- 15:30It's just good. Yeah, we can get you there. It's just going
- 15:33to take a sacrifice. It's one one episode where you intentionally tank it,
- 15:37Dree. Yeah, so it'll take exactly exactly disappointing. Um, let's see
- 15:43here we have a couple people who have also reached the twenty point per game
- 15:46threshold. That's one game, not going to count that. Yeah, sorry,
- 15:50I mean, come on, yeah, just be a high we scoring
- 15:54game. I'm looking at a lot of stats. Time, it's over time,
- 15:56you know, that's what you're looking for. Dan felt it, And
- 16:00yes, he barely hits the threshold. He's been in two of our games
- 16:03win ratio. He has an average points per game of twenty three point five.
- 16:10Okay, pretty impressive. That is very impressive. Yeah, really impressive.
- 16:14Um. I think he technically holds the highest points per game ratio right
- 16:18now now an honorable mention that I really wanted to put out there. Oh.
- 16:22Actually, just before you move on, Dan Felton has a new show
- 16:25that's coming out, Hey, in the next couple of weeks, might even
- 16:27be as this episode comes out. I'm going to put a link in the
- 16:30description for this. It's a ten part series that is going to do part
- 16:36that's a stat I'm allow. Yeah, the discussion ten part series that is
- 16:41sort of a deep dive into contemporary issues surrounding lies and the myths that are
- 16:48told by by big big businesses, big companies, and just the daily deceptions
- 16:55that are around us. I've got a sneak preview of the first episode.
- 16:57It is the most fashionally made thing podcasting space to date. Wow. Him
- 17:04and his brother have put so much work into it. It's it's incredible that
- 17:07Yeah, that's crazy. Yeah. The first episode was all about memes and
- 17:11it was great. Oh wow, Yes, Dan, get some stats in
- 17:15your show. I'll start listening on that note. So on that note,
- 17:22Dan Felton, Yes, twenty three, Yes, point five pretty impressive.
- 17:25I will give an honorable mention here to David Rosenberg. Yes aw superfan,
- 17:30yes aw, superfan. He only has been on one game, but an
- 17:33impressive twenty seven points in that single game, he alone is the highest point
- 17:41score of a single game. See that, that game, I remember writing
- 17:45it. I think it had a lot of questions compared to your average game,
- 17:48so there were more chances for points. If you listen to this,
- 17:52David, you had a bit of an advantage. But I've still got You've
- 17:56still got the crown as it stands on that particular stas it stands, So
- 18:00always room and time to dethrone him king of this ring. But for how
- 18:06long? Yeah? Exactly. So he's the person who scored the most points
- 18:08singularly. So that was in season one. Yes, as a team,
- 18:11the highest points in a single game ever. Yes, was twenty eight points
- 18:15by Audre and Dan Felton. Yes, in the Simpsons episode. Yeah,
- 18:21so that was pretty impressive too, pretty pretty high stakes. We haven't beaten
- 18:25thirty yet. It's my goal for next year. That's my that's my resolution.
- 18:32It was gonna be New Year, Save me, and now it's New
- 18:34Year save me. But with thirty points, I might have to do some
- 18:41point flation. You know, we got under the keep interest. By season
- 18:47seven it will be one hundred points per episode. I don't want to do
- 18:52stets for that. I'll hire turn at that all right. So those are
- 18:56those are some points. Those are some wind streaks, and so on and
- 18:59so forth overall win streaks. Of course, Jen owns that one. Just
- 19:03an interesting one. I found the narrative of this. I've won every single
- 19:07Marvel Hey, honestly, that feels right. Yeah, that feels right.
- 19:12If I would have won any of the Marvel ones, I think we might
- 19:18have to revoke your nerdy and considering Uldra is in the lead in total of
- 19:23games one and the more Marvel than anything else, that just means the on
- 19:29average, you're really bad at the phantoms. I think the listeners know that.
- 19:33I don't think there's a stat that proves that, other than me being
- 19:37worse than Ultra, there's a stat that proves that. I haven't remember one.
- 19:42But yeah, yeah, the nis don't lie, yes, but the
- 19:45numbers don't lie. I will get a little mean on this, but it
- 19:48is just interesting numbers. A main sometimes the longest losing streak. We gotta
- 19:51have the highest winning streaks and win streaks. We gotta have the longest losing
- 19:53streak. Me, I've not played any you can't lose. Oh, good
- 19:57point, Yeah, you gotta the longest losing streak actually belongs. You would
- 20:04think it's Chris. In our friend group, we do make a meme that
- 20:07it is Chris. No, but I think part of that is the strategy
- 20:11of Chris is to lose, No, just to losing. Chris is a
- 20:17very capable smart These are things about people who are losers. Yeah. Yeah,
- 20:23but then he'll downplay and being like, oh, I'm not good at
- 20:26this and stuff, and it's like, I don't do that. It's either
- 20:30it's either genuine poor mental health or he's deceiving everyone. Ah a bluff.
- 20:36Yeah, So it doesn't surprise me that Chris doesn't have the worst. Yeah,
- 20:40he doesn't have the worst. It's a it's a joke, is he
- 20:41of his His current win ratio is one win to five losses. Okay,
- 20:45that is in hindsight, that's pretty bad. I thought he was sorry.
- 20:51Christ I hadn't put him back down in a streak. It's Audra with eight
- 20:55in a row, but she's still in the lead, and she's still an
- 20:59the lead in some one, so I'll actually go through it here. It's
- 21:02eight in a row man, and I am also technically tied for that if
- 21:07you do not count my tie. Okay, is it tie lose? If
- 21:11it ties not a win, is it a lose? Look? Look it
- 21:12ties the tie ties, tie, ties the tie. So Otdra was doing
- 21:17a really good beginning of season one. She won Star Wars. That was
- 21:22really sad for me and Chris. She won Pixar one Game of Thrones good
- 21:26and for Mario DC Twilight, Pokemon Aw, the Office, Harry Potter,
- 21:32Dune all the way back until her victory. Lord, you lost Dune Yea
- 21:37to Alex Alex. That's fine, that's fine. Teams thing. No,
- 21:42that's that thing about season one. That's the other format of how she got
- 21:45the longest losing stream. I'll take that you did break it with winning Lord
- 21:51of the Rings. That feels right, exactly exactly, and that means Older
- 21:56must have killed it in season two like Older's team a, Yeah, I
- 22:00think so. To have her then be in the lead, I think so.
- 22:03Oh, guests killed it in season one. Probably a bit of both,
- 22:06A little bit. Yeah. Again, high highest scoring episode ever probably
- 22:11helped a lot too. Yeah. She also scored really high and ruthless aggression
- 22:15with twenty six points, So there's a lot of high aggression. That's how
- 22:18you get this many points. It's amazing this. I'm just gonna take a
- 22:22take a beat. This. This is amazing, Jason, all this preparation
- 22:25you've done. It's I've always thought of everything we've done as like a narrative,
- 22:30a story like the but to hear numbers matched up with it. Yes,
- 22:33it's adding evidence on the top of that narrative. There's there's narrative in
- 22:37the stats too, so like for a big narrative portion of that. We
- 22:41have personal friends Jen and Chris who are on this podcast a lot. They
- 22:45live near us. That just makes it easy. Yeah, but we also
- 22:48have personal friends Adam and Ash, Yes, who have appeared on this episode.
- 22:52Now, the interesting thing about this for listeners, Chris and Jen are
- 22:56married, Adam and Ash are married, Adre and Matt are married. Yep,
- 23:00I am single, ladies. So if you're listening, ladies, so
- 23:08Jen and Chris. So Jen has been doing great on a winning streak.
- 23:12Yes, Adam was doing great on a winning streak. He won two.
- 23:17Then Jen Adam were selected to be on the same episode Bachelor episode Yes spoiler,
- 23:22having known that Jennis on a five on five winning stre Yeah, Jen
- 23:26was the thing that crushed Adam's winning streak. You have to do this.
- 23:30When you've got two people who are unbeaten, you've got to put them against
- 23:32the Yeah, you have to. You've got to decide who's the top two
- 23:36champions enter why and Yeah, and Jen came out on top of that monster.
- 23:44Man, I do know off the top of my head a stat for
- 23:45that particular episode that was definitely the longest episode of gate bleepers O stat.
- 23:51I didn't do time stat. Genuinely, I had to cut so much good
- 23:56content from that oh wow, because Jen had so many Bachelor Bachelorette facts that
- 24:00were just great tip bits that led to great conversation, but I just had
- 24:06to cut it because I couldn't release a two and a half hour podcast that
- 24:08wasn't going to happen. But it was fantastic. If we could do that
- 24:12all the time and then release them as like part one, Part two,
- 24:15then maybe, but maybe one of these days and yeah, Adam could have
- 24:21potentially redemption. Yes, just fun fact for you out there, Adam,
- 24:25you have two wins out of three games that you have discussed good on yep,
- 24:30uh sixty six point sixty seven percent win ratio, thirteen point three point
- 24:34wins per a game, so a little lower than your average bear. It
- 24:37doesn't matter, you know, thirteen wins of the game. Thirteen wins of
- 24:41the game. That just that just speaks to how much the games fluctuate in
- 24:45terms of maximum possible score. Absolutely because I put look, I put thought
- 24:48into making the games. I don't put thoughts into how balanced it could be,
- 24:53and so these stats meant nothing. And thank you for listening to this
- 24:56episode. O it don't matter, Drew Kerry, Uh No, but so
- 25:03so that was the thing between Adam and Jen. Now on the other side
- 25:06of the couple, Christian Ash yes, Chris christ Christian as Yeah, Christian
- 25:11as christ Christianian breaking Outrussians from the fandom flashback. Check out our December EFFI
- 25:18show. We just did Muppet voices for basically half an hour's favorite I'll do
- 25:26it now, I'll do it no um Paton, Yeah, yeah exactly.
- 25:33Chris and Ash were both on a losing streak, and so we fitted them
- 25:37against each other. Yeah, in the community episode. The community episode,
- 25:41so it's time to decide who will finally win something, yes for once in
- 25:45their goddamn life. And and it was Chris who won. Okay, Chris
- 25:48came out and say, yeah, So Chris and Jen just a power fucking
- 25:52couple. What's going on there? I don't know anything about what I think
- 26:00it was your use of the word fucking, which in that sense they are
- 26:03power. Those are broad stats on points game appearances. Oh another one fund
- 26:11that is Ben Robinson. He has appeared four times one one, so twenty
- 26:17five percent win ratio there. However, I've got got a shout out Ben.
- 26:21While we're talking about everyone. Ben is a fantastic player, really understands
- 26:25this game, and I think his skull kind of reflects that. In the
- 26:29Yes. The thing that Ben Reedy gets is that it's all about the quips,
- 26:33the jokes. It's it's all about having something to say and making the
- 26:37entertainment matter more than the points. Even though this is a stats episode,
- 26:41please still pay attention to the points matter, Yes, but also the friendships
- 26:47a lot. I really enjoyed Ben. Fun fact about him now, well
- 26:51technically is that he has created and three printed two trophies for himself. Has
- 26:57for the tie and the Mario one and the win in in the Alien Versus
- 27:00Predator. Yes, for the two wins he has, So it's two trophies
- 27:03in gately PRI's history to Ben Robinson, your point average, Sir, is
- 27:07nineteen point two five good high. Yeah he's not higher than us, He's
- 27:11not just showing up. Yeah, he's high. People, you're higher than
- 27:18us. Um. And then also has the most well, he's tied for
- 27:22ties with me. That two ties the Super Mario Goddamn episode. You keep
- 27:27saying this, but I think Ben won that one. Okay, I mean
- 27:32you'll have to. Yeah, it's fine, it's fine. Yeah, but
- 27:36um, that's a that's a good segue into the two ties that have been
- 27:38totally had at gately PRI's history. Yes, the first time between me and
- 27:41Ben for Mario. The next one, which I thought was really impressive,
- 27:45was in the James Cameron's Avatar where both teams tied, which you know is
- 27:52somewhat less impressive, but when you factor in that there's four people all contributing
- 27:56to points, yeah, and that we all came out with ties, that's
- 28:00pretty fucking crazy. And it was the episode that we decided didn't really matter
- 28:03anyway, because we roasted a fandom for the first time. Yes, very
- 28:07fun oh which Drew and Ben would you've mentioned already? Very fun stuff.
- 28:11I mean that was just that was one for the hard cause that was it's
- 28:15simultaneously almost like niche episode, but at the same time one of our most
- 28:19broad episodes so far. Yeah, so far we're gonna go, but also
- 28:26more broad. We're gonna do both. We are genuine Oh look, it's
- 28:33twenty twenty three. We're in meta maternity. As I'm always saying, we
- 28:37can be two things at once. No, you're absolutely right, You're absolute
- 28:40right. We're gonna get it. Fans of two thousand and six Sonic the
- 28:42Hedgehog, Oh yeah, Sonic. Then we're gonna go, we're real broad,
- 28:47super broad. How how is that glass onion? You like them?
- 28:49Knives Out? We'll love it. Are they're gonna have to release more films
- 28:52before we can do a Knives Out? Had a third film? Do we
- 28:56think we could think film? Yeah, and we'll call it the ben wa
- 29:00Blanc Mysteries episode a Knives Out story Gate Leapers a Knives Out podcast. There
- 29:08we go catchy. Also a fun fact about those ties. Both ties were
- 29:15tied with each other, both ties who ended in points of sixteen six people
- 29:21getting sixteen at the same time. Is this what feeling like a conspiracy?
- 29:27Is? Yeah? Right? Like sixteen that with twins two forever? Kind
- 29:33of weird considering we are the ones who control the game. Yep, Why
- 29:37I suppose we don't control the aspect of it? To me? Oh,
- 29:40that's true. I guess it's not. Maybe it's less conspiracy. Is this
- 29:42what believing in God feels like? Yes, believing in God and believing in
- 29:48the number sixteen just as difficult as each other. I want to give me
- 29:52a couple of seconds. I got to look up my angel number. I
- 29:56mean, if it's sixteen, I'll piss on on podcasts on command oh,
- 30:03fantastic, love it. We're gonna do that, And then another like how
- 30:08you just went into mindless segue mode. No matter what I'd have said that,
- 30:12you'd have been like, yeah, love that. Love that. Now
- 30:17back to the numbers, Bay incredible. I have a stat here for gotta
- 30:21stat how many times Matt's pissing sitting in the hosting chair. I can't imagine
- 30:26how many times Matt just goes, that's the thing. Jason said, what
- 30:30the fucking let's go on, because that's what I'm doing. I'd say two
- 30:33point three times per episode is probably the stat. Christ Almighty. Another rare
- 30:41thing that happens in Gately Press. Yes we say this also almost every time,
- 30:45but it is rewarded out. But the point five it is rare.
- 30:48It is, right, however, maybe not as rare as you think.
- 30:51Oh really, four times have a point five point been given out? Okay,
- 30:56that is the very first episode of Gately first start as you mean to
- 31:00go on a W Supernatural? Oh no, I wrote more, I can't
- 31:08count. Okay, Marvel A W Supernatural, Wizarding World, and Black Panther.
- 31:14Okay, that's right, I wrote four, and then I we recorded
- 31:18Black panther and then yes, so five. So I remember in season two
- 31:25two you said this was a new format because it prevents the ties. Yeah,
- 31:29we've been doing it since day one, literally since day one. Yeah.
- 31:33Yeah, So that's just a little fun fact for you, right.
- 31:34Yeah. I honestly season one is a blur to me now that we're in
- 31:40twenty twenty three. I really remember twenty twenty two, but I think something
- 31:44about twenty twenty one being a pandemic. Yeah, yeah, I just it's
- 31:47a wormhole. I know we recorded those episodes, and I have strong memories
- 31:51of like funny things that the guests said on moments where we just all erupted
- 31:55in laughter, but I could not tell you any of the games or how
- 31:57they went to. The studio is also the basement at that point in time,
- 32:01and so there's like a spatial memory. Yeah, maybe that's also an
- 32:06element of that, just to I can see that, just to give you
- 32:08another, yeah, another excuse another yeah. Oh um, oh is that
- 32:14another fact sound? Yes, yes, when Jason stumbles upon a fact in
- 32:17the wild text tone, Oh, that's another text tone for all you guys.
- 32:25How many fucking times I laugh? I have a maniacal laughed, don't.
- 32:30I don't know how many. It's joyful, Yeah, I was.
- 32:34I was told today actually by one of my co workers. It echoes in
- 32:37the lunch room. That's to make a maniacal I think it's really you see
- 32:44you hear this in the fucking dark with a chair on the chair in the
- 32:51dark, he's doing a lot of heavy lift. You could have the friendliest
- 32:53laugh in the world. That would still sound creepy in a dark room.
- 32:57Sign a track if I'm in that situation, Like the purr of a cat
- 33:00sounds terrified. Yea, yeah, like there's and that's just a very calming
- 33:06sound to me. Is why I'm giving that as an example. Okay you
- 33:08said, oh for a fact? Oh yeah, sorry. Um, the
- 33:12only person who currently might be able to contend with Jen is I just noticed
- 33:16this now, Katie from your pot two appearances, two appearances, one hundred
- 33:22percent wind streak. There we go. So Katie, Katie another fantastic player.
- 33:28Yes, it was amazing to have Katie in season one. That was
- 33:30a very funny episode, one of my favorites. Absolutely. But then it
- 33:34was so good to have Katie and Zoti another couple. Yeah, still single.
- 33:39Sorry, Jason because their chemistry is just incredible. Yea. And to
- 33:44have them on opposite teams against each other, Yeah, that was that was
- 33:46amazing. Yeah, I love that. Um, I absolutely agree. The
- 33:51we first met Oti on the episode for a Succession Yes show, I did
- 33:55not know, yes, but just and this happens with so many guests as
- 33:59well, but just the idea that had heard of him, had heard his
- 34:02voice before, not knowing what it would be like for him to be in
- 34:07this game, because Katie just comes on as a force like she owns the
- 34:10Scott Damn Show. Yeah, you know, and so to be like,
- 34:14well, what is Ot like and how is he gonna gel and just having
- 34:16him just fit completely. We did not know that Katie and me are are
- 34:22the same personality as Oti and Audra are. Yes, in our respective quiet
- 34:27thinkers, which is really great for an audio media, our deep considerations of
- 34:34what our answer is going to be if only I could put a microphone inside
- 34:37your brain, screams screaming. Great for podcasts, but yeah, those those
- 34:45are I guess we've got to try and try and have Katie back on this
- 34:49year. I think so. I think so. Australian zoning is difficult,
- 34:53it is. But look that busy bees at the moment. Check out the
- 34:57folio Reference podcast, fantastic media analysis, media review podcast. But also they're
- 35:02attending film premiers, they're attending film festivals. Yeah, I love it for
- 35:07them. Yes, the hard work is paying off, absolutely absolutely, I'm
- 35:12loving it for them. Um. But yeah, So those those are just
- 35:15the general broad stats that I had on on individual players and points and so
- 35:20on and so forth. I have one more stat for you. Oh yes,
- 35:22please, yes, please. Now I thought about this for a little
- 35:24bit. We have a lot of different games on this podcast, and I
- 35:30do not have the sanity nor time to scrub through every single course, break
- 35:35down, every single you know, fucking the quick fire. Oh god,
- 35:37oh yeah. If if you'd have done that, you genuinely would have put
- 35:43more work into the podcast than me at that point, because that would have
- 35:46taken you months, right to have gotten through everything in Merchant scrubbing through it
- 35:51like because because what I could do for this is I could generally speaking just
- 35:53scrub to the end of each episode stats and then compile onto an Excel spreadsheet,
- 35:59which I found that I actually really enjoy. I love salting data.
- 36:06I know one of your friends. Does it for a job, Maybe not
- 36:07as a job, but just for fun. Yeah, pretty cool stuff.
- 36:10Yeah. Now, the one game that we do have the most consistently is
- 36:15Journey into Hell. The YouTube comment, oh you are so close to say
- 36:22in time that would have been better than any passing knowledge in season two the
- 36:27first right, Yeah, yeah, no you no good stuff, good stuffs.
- 36:34That first half was really good. It just shows that it's genuine that
- 36:37we're just not good at it. We're not in sync. All right.
- 36:42So so you got the stats for the most played game other than the quick
- 36:45fire around which changes every time. Yeah, exactly exactly, So Journey into
- 36:49Hell is the most played game around. However you want to phrase that,
- 36:53Yes, it must be, it must and it has to be counting more
- 37:00this. Yeah, it's fifteen of our forty. Okay, so it's truly
- 37:04consistent. But I mean, does that show a good game variety on my
- 37:07part? I think so. We play a lot of different games, because
- 37:10you would think for a game that's the most played, it's something at least
- 37:14over half. I thought it was gonna be half. Yeah, it's not
- 37:15even that. There was a streak. I remember early on when I was
- 37:19doing this, and you're I was like tearing my hair out. You're like,
- 37:21by the way, in season two, every single episode has a journey
- 37:25into hell. That is not true, not true. It appears way more
- 37:29in season one ratio. Yeah, maybe just in general actually, but it's
- 37:34it's the idea of the two that there was a couple of like there's some
- 37:37shopping lists, there's there's a lot of variations on this, right, I
- 37:39only ever counted when I listened to the episodes, a game where internet comments
- 37:45were read out and that we would have to guess something. So one variation
- 37:50on this, I think is like the Simpsons or Community I think, where
- 37:53we did compilation videos. So it wasn't necessarily a specific scene, but it
- 37:59was a person. It was a character or a person or something that we
- 38:01had to guess. And the and the actually the real thing is like you
- 38:06have to guess it. If you guess it within the third comment or the
- 38:08first comment or whatever, you're out blah blah blah. That that format,
- 38:12you know what I'm saying. Yeah, yeah, So it could have been
- 38:14like also Reddit blogs or comments or whatever the case might be. So any
- 38:17variation on that is when I chose fifteen of the forty. Now, the
- 38:22exciting thing about Journey into Hell, yes thatt wise, is how many times
- 38:25have people guessed on the first fucking how many? It is a lot,
- 38:31man, it's ballsy. It's a lot, and it's ballsy. There's been
- 38:36a lot of times. It's more. I thought I remembered more actually at
- 38:39certain times. But it's when people have like said, on the second comment,
- 38:44I should have went with the third the first comment. Yeah, that
- 38:46being said, you didn't do it, it doesn't count, all right,
- 38:51you didn't get it. You didn't get you got to take the gamble.
- 38:52Yeah. So the very first three pointer in Journey into Hell history Audra in
- 39:00Star Wars, what the comment was? Imagine James Earl Jones voice saying this,
- 39:07and it was Anakin complaining about Sandon an attack of the Clones. Fucking
- 39:10went for it and got it. And it could have been from any Star
- 39:14Wars movies. Yeah, me and me and Chris fumbled on this. We
- 39:17thought it was the no from end of episode three, et cetera, et
- 39:21cetera. Yeah, the very first one. How did you get that?
- 39:23Ultra? I think maybe there was a setup of me being like, screw
- 39:28it, I'm doing it. I'm locking it in. Sure, yeah,
- 39:30this is the thing. I remember three points please, and it was and
- 39:36you won that episode, so that's fantastic. Another one is both me and
- 39:39Ben got three points on this. It was the Super Mario episode. Is
- 39:43this the most important game of all time? Sure? There were three d
- 39:46games before this, and it was Mario sixty four. Okay, yeah,
- 39:50yeah, yeah. David Rosenberg got one for aw This wild card rule is
- 39:54getting pretty out of hand. It was Mossley's debut at double or nothing.
- 39:59Okay, yes, still don't know what that means, and there's no need
- 40:02to there's none. I got one lovely. Oh yeah, this is Harry
- 40:07Potter season one. Uh, season one. Yes, I've still not forgiven
- 40:12JP Rowling JK Rowling. No, maybe it was Maybe it was JP because
- 40:16as Yeah, yeah, some of the comments they spell things wrong. That
- 40:20yeah, things wrong all the time, you hear it. Yeah yeah,
- 40:22yeah, yeah for for this, And it was Darby's death scene. I
- 40:24laughed really loud yep during that scene. I asked really loud during this episode,
- 40:30yep, yep. Now here's an interesting one. There was two in
- 40:35the Lord of the Rings episode. I mean that's because we had it was
- 40:38Chris and old Man. Yeah, we had Chris doing u um lego.
- 40:44Lads should have yelled at to everyone, not two people next to him.
- 40:46What a fucking asshole. It's the Battle of the Hornburgh for the next Yeah,
- 40:52yeah, Audra, and not Chris because he switched answers in his brain
- 40:57in between comments. So Chris debated a little bit with us during this.
- 41:01He technically kind of had it, but not really at at all. Okay,
- 41:05he broke the format. The comment was I like to think Saron felt
- 41:07that one, just chilling up in his tower. Then ouch, wtf O
- 41:13Council of Yes, Yes, yeah, I'm sure. What did Chris think
- 41:19it was? Do you have that? No? Well Chris, Chris thought
- 41:22it was something in Rivendell I believe, right. And then he said he
- 41:28switched his comment before you said the second comment. But switching a comment is
- 41:31still switching. You could wrote it down, yea, in your mind's I
- 41:36yep, you wrote it down in the mind's eye of Saron's big glowing mind's
- 41:42eye. I h you got one in Spider Man. When I was a
- 41:45kid, I dreamed of re enacting the scene that I got older and Uldra
- 41:52it's been we still knows what this one is then just a woman's perspective.
- 42:00He helped her out there. Well, it was the right age as well.
- 42:01Like that definitely, I mean this comes from some experience that girls generally
- 42:07think about kissing earlier than boys, dud. And then as so, as
- 42:10soon as you're introduced to the concept of an upside down kiss, that must
- 42:15blow a girl's mind of like, yeah, what the he think? What?
- 42:21Yes? Um? Now Dan Felton and and Matt both got this one.
- 42:27Matt his his co host, his co host. Yeah. Now,
- 42:29I will have a caveat for this, Dan Felton and Matt. Yeah,
- 42:32the Simpsons episode, I broke your format a little bit by saying in a
- 42:37team's format, both people could guess, and so that opens up to,
- 42:43well everyone should fucking guess on the first comment anyway, that's true, So
- 42:47I will add a caveat to that. However, I'll still put credit where
- 42:51credit is due. Dan Felton and Matt got Simpsons. Why is no one
- 42:54talking about this? His meltdown probably the funniest moment in the Simpsons, and
- 42:59it was the net Flanders compilation. So that's another example. And then I
- 43:02got one in Simpsons. Oh look, everyone knows okay with everyone is okay
- 43:07with this stereotype because he's white hashtag and white racism. Oh yeah, because
- 43:12that will have been for grounds keeper Willie will exactly yea, yea. And
- 43:15then we're getting to the final ones here. Graham and Audra on Sonny the
- 43:19most beautifully sung. They like me. They gave me this train cinematic history,
- 43:23ye Charlie compilation video. Yeah, definitely, Jason or me. You've
- 43:31dived so much into the stats that you can sider yourself a character outside of
- 43:36yourself. J Fama Sano. Yeah, Black Panther, The most unbelievable part
- 43:43of this scene is that her boss let her take a break. Yes,
- 43:45that was good. That was a good work from CG. I believe CJ.
- 43:49Not very fast, very fast, very sass and then Audre and CJ.
- 43:52I guess also Black Panther had two three pointers, which is crazy.
- 43:55Aldre and M Blade right yeah and M Blade yes yeah, Black Panther.
- 44:00I really like the Throne Room. It's so anchor textual and TuS yes.
- 44:06Yeah, so there was a lot of huge three pointers. That's it's way
- 44:09more than I thought that Please don't make them harder, please plan No,
- 44:15I don't think I'll make them harder. But what I would say from that
- 44:17is, go for the dunk. Wait wait, wait, not the dunk,
- 44:20that's always two points. Go for the three point Sorry wrong basketball technology.
- 44:25Yeah the spirit is there for sure, but yeah, no, it's
- 44:29it's it's really impressive. The gamble pays off in some instances it looks like
- 44:34it and also maybe our because I mean a little behind the curtain thing here,
- 44:37I try and make the episodes ninety minutes. Ninety minutes would be the
- 44:42perfect length episode of gate Leapers for me. That's what we plan. Sometimes
- 44:45at shorter, sometimes quite a bit longer. But I still love it.
- 44:49I still love every single minute spend with everyone. But I will say if
- 44:52people in the YouTube comment section round go for that three point, amore,
- 44:54the episode will definitely come in at ninety minutes. Go for the three points,
- 44:59guy, we'll get through the game faster. It's our goal for season.
- 45:04Three point three points, three points. Get the fuck out the studio.
- 45:09I have a job, I have a life. We're all go lives.
- 45:12Let's get well. I don't, but I ever deadly don't well.
- 45:17The worst part is you don't and you're losing to all drift winning. I
- 45:22had to put those in the Excel spreadsheet. My only life is crocheting.
- 45:27That's it. And vibe. I mean that's thank you so much for providing
- 45:36all the stats, but especially for a specific game as well. Appreciate your
- 45:39time. I mean it will be part of the upkeep. So that was
- 45:42I mean that was quantitative data. Yeah, thank you very much. Guys,
- 45:45it's been an absolute blast. Let's go for some qualitative data. Yeah,
- 45:50I think just looking back, we can talk about stats, we can
- 45:53talk about you know, new things that were introduced, blah blah blah.
- 45:57I mean just in general. Oh, I mean, let's start with like
- 46:00a season one maybe. Okay, what was your guys, like favorite episode
- 46:04or like a standout great question? You know that's a fantastic question. Yeah.
- 46:08See, okay, season one. We're talking season one when it was
- 46:10one v one v one v one exact season I remember the least. Yeah,
- 46:15if you want to recap, you did say that it was four people
- 46:16one. That's how Yes, yes, yes, you're always playing. It's
- 46:23the games master. That's part of the KA. If you want to reminder
- 46:27or recap of the episodes we have known I know my babies, Okay,
- 46:30I know, I'm no. I think my favorite episode from season one was
- 46:42well I've got two, that's kind of cheating. It all clicked for me
- 46:45with the first WB episode that we did with Aiden, my sibling. Yes,
- 46:51that episode really it cracked me up the most, but it also reassured
- 46:54me that we were doing the right thing. Yes, I do remember.
- 46:58Format kind of really clicked at that point and I was like, Okay,
- 47:00this is something. This is great. Not to say the ones before weren't
- 47:04also great and fun, but it just really made me think that. And
- 47:07then I have lots of memories of the Dune episode with Alex recording that one,
- 47:13so I really loved that episode. I've got lots of fond memories.
- 47:15We had the call afterwards after we finished recording. Alex was like, oh,
- 47:20Ryan wants to see you guys. Fine up on the call, and
- 47:22then we just kept chatting and that was really nice, and that was the
- 47:27thing that solidified, Oh, just reach out to people and make connections and
- 47:31play games and just have fun, because even if it only happens once,
- 47:35it's this great moment in time. It's this great moment that five people can
- 47:38experience together. Yes. Yeah, the Dune one was going to be one
- 47:42of my first one of my favorite episodes. For one, I love Dune
- 47:49two. Losing to Alex on the Dune episode's humility, right, yeah,
- 47:54it taught me things, but also that like friendship aspect of realizing before podcasting
- 48:01we did not know these people. Yeah. Yes, we're just on a
- 48:05call chatting, having a great time, which has continued to be a theme.
- 48:10Yes, definitely with a lot of guests. It's just chatting and enjoying
- 48:16making something together. And I think that was that was one of the episodes
- 48:21where I was like, god, this is so good. Yeah. And
- 48:24look, if you're listening to this and you're you've been a long time fan,
- 48:29maybe you're a recent fan of gate Leapers and you haven't played yet,
- 48:31get in touch. Our email is in the description of the show notes.
- 48:37You can contact us on Twitter. Still we still occasionally check that. Join
- 48:42our discord, you send us an email gate Leapers at gmail dot com.
- 48:46Tons of things. Yeah, just get get in touch because we we love
- 48:51playing with new people. Yes, yeah, and if you have an Internet
- 48:53connection, some headphones and a microphone, you can play gate Leapers. Yeah,
- 48:58yeah, that's all you need. Absolutely, Jason, more about yourself,
- 49:00what's your favorite episode? So similar to all of you guys, I
- 49:02think a moment that clicked for me where I went this thing works because we
- 49:08really want to test out not only pop culture, you know, fan base
- 49:13quiz shows. It's the also the idea that in the name itself, we
- 49:15wanted to be able to not only celebrate and play trivia in these fandoms,
- 49:21but also Jesus Christ, what are we doing? Yeah? So serious?
- 49:24Yeah, it's just all silly, right, It's so very silly. Yeah.
- 49:28And so Twilight for me was that benchmark of Yes, greeting and talking
- 49:32to Katie for the first time after like talking to each other so long on
- 49:36Twitter, like we we commented on each other's stuff and releases all the time,
- 49:39and then meeting her for the first time. And I absolutely slagged Twilight
- 49:44in that episode. Yeah, I had no fucking clue what was going on.
- 49:47And what's hilarious about that looking back is in season two there was way
- 49:52less of a clue because not only do I have I've never absorbed it.
- 49:58At least Twilight was in the zeitgeis you know, and I actually like,
- 50:02I find it funny because I use it as a comparison a lot of time.
- 50:06But there's a couple of episodes where I'm like, I fucking I was
- 50:07more participatory in Twilight. I like Twilight more. Ye yes, I know
- 50:12it more. By comparison, it made Twilight seem pretty good. So it's
- 50:15a benchmark. I really slagged it, but uh, it's it's a It
- 50:19has a place in my heart because it was the first and I've never I
- 50:22think for similar you never forget your first. Yeah, that's exactly where which
- 50:27would be our first episode with Bed Boswell, that would be the first one.
- 50:31Um yeah, I got really excited to that one too. Yeah.
- 50:35No, I honestly shout out to Bear for helping us get this show off
- 50:37the ground, like we needed another person to to try out the format to
- 50:43begin with, and that really helped us out with that. Um So,
- 50:47just on that note, honorable mentions for season one. I'm also going to
- 50:51throw out the Super Mario episode and the Game of Thrones episode of just interacting
- 50:55with Ben and Dan of both Exploration and I'm gonna say assaulted Goods, but
- 51:01also his new podcast. Check that one out that respectively. Like those again,
- 51:07same as with Katie, right, it's it's and with Alex it's meeting
- 51:10people who we chatted to digitally but had not spent a solid amount of time
- 51:15with. And that was just yeah amazing. Yeah. Yeah, Matt and
- 51:19I you, Matt, You and I met online. We did. Now
- 51:22we have so many friends that we have met online. I'm not going to
- 51:25tell kids to just like, I don't know, meet your internet friends.
- 51:30But kids listening to this show, we know you're listening to kids. Young
- 51:36people listening to this showy met meet those other fellow young they make sure they
- 51:40are real people. Yes, video chat, make sure they are who they
- 51:44say they are. Yeah, but like video chat your internet friends, if
- 51:47they're real people, Yeah, definitely. Because this it's so rewarding. All
- 51:52right, So we move on to season two. Move on, moving on
- 51:53to season two. Yep, So this is where we introduce the captain format.
- 52:00I mean, we've never fully discussed this other than when we were making
- 52:02the plans and everything. I prefer the captain formats and I do too,
- 52:07Yeah, I think the whole team versus team thing. No one is an
- 52:10island unto themselves. Everyone gets to lean on someone else's Yeah, it's nice.
- 52:15And I think something that is, you know, we've we've loved everyone.
- 52:17They're they're affable, they're really funny, and they all do their own
- 52:22great jobs on their own respective podcast. Something that also is a great,
- 52:25uh just compliment to our guests is putting yourselves in a position where you're meeting
- 52:31these two people you've never fucking member playing a stupid ass. But also no
- 52:37one has ever been like upset at the team, and they stand that it's
- 52:42a game. It's listen, this is a stupid Yeah, stupid thing,
- 52:46so stupid. I mean, Matt puts a bunch of work into it,
- 52:50but ultimately it can be serious the same. Yeah, and the edict of
- 52:55our name and the edict of our our podcasts. It's similar the game itself
- 53:00and the people who are involved in it know that it's for the fun of
- 53:05it. It's not for the wins. Yes, I know, I went
- 53:07over a lot of stats about wins. Yeah, but um no, but
- 53:10again that matters too. Yeah. Yeah, there's a lot of agreeable moments
- 53:14between people, you know, putting ourselves in captain positions. Uh, you
- 53:19gotta trust us sometimes and sometimes we trust other people. Definitely, and that's
- 53:22huge. That's really cool. My favorite episode, I might have to say
- 53:27from season two, and it's going to be a big one for a lot
- 53:29of us, is gonna have to be I think Avatar. I thought it
- 53:32was a very good episode, a good episode. I think just just not
- 53:36only was it the subject, not only was it just us digging into a
- 53:39fan which we don't do. We're pretty like, yeah, it's silly,
- 53:44but there's good things about it. Could we say that every other episode apart
- 53:47from that one, at least one of the three of us is a fan
- 53:51of Yes, whereas Avatar or wants to be versus Predator. Yeah, I'd
- 53:55say I was. I'm a biga okay, Alien versus Predator Yeah. Star
- 54:02Star Trek towards the end might fall into that category. Yeah, but we
- 54:07want to be Yeah, Yeah, that's that's one of the fandoms that is
- 54:10like before I before the episode, I didn't know a ton about, But
- 54:16after the episode, I'm like, God, I would love Star Trek.
- 54:19Yeah, it was so interesting to research. If we're talking about favorite episode,
- 54:23to like research, Star Trek has to be up there, definitely,
- 54:29definitely, and Dune as well. Just to call back to season one,
- 54:32just because I didn't know much about the deeper Laura at that point. Right,
- 54:35Yeah, um, season two it's much harder. There's a lot of
- 54:42episodes, and because there's so many more guests, there's the element of like
- 54:45the fandom and then really enjoyable people that we worked with. Yeah, yeah,
- 54:50you let me just rattle off a couple of recap maybe jog some of
- 54:52your guys's minds. I've got him in my head, but yeah, I
- 54:55want to say like seven of them. Yeah, one is your favorite.
- 55:00One that's coming, um, coming to my mind is Supernatural? Yes,
- 55:05yea, because that was a hell of a lot of fun. I had
- 55:07watched through more than I thought I had when I was like looking at it
- 55:14and being like, oh, what happened in season one? Oh? That
- 55:15was that? And what happened I'm I'm sure I only watched until season six
- 55:19O and then like just going through and being like, oh, yep,
- 55:28the Seven Deadly Sins they got out, and like going through the Mark of
- 55:31Kine like oh yeah, I got deep into Supernatural. Yeah, and just
- 55:38brilliant guests as well, like and Drew and Mary of the Carrying Wayward podcasts
- 55:44like just some of the best chemistry I felt with people, yes, deaf
- 55:47almost period. Just honestly, if you could podcast with them, like,
- 55:54would you be happy? I'm saying right off the bat, it's the it's
- 55:59the love at first, you know, it's not the it's not the long
- 56:00lasting relationship. Not saying that I wouldn't. All right, we're digging ourselves
- 56:04in the holes here. Other notable ones Studio Ghibli, Wisiting Worlds with your
- 56:09Meats, Uh. They were always fun for the for the chemistry I feel
- 56:15in the when when when we recorded with Pete and Graham, especially that Wisiting
- 56:17world one. Yeah, and even in the it's always a sunny one.
- 56:22They're they're not afraid to really clap back at me. Yes, Yeah,
- 56:25and I think that really works. Like I'd love once a year to half
- 56:30them on. It's just like, yep, they're gonna you always know the
- 56:34game's master is a threat. I love that for them too. It's really
- 56:39something that pulls it out of me. Yeah. I would also agree that
- 56:42for a similar reason, Shrek was a really good episode absolutely because it was
- 56:45your sibling again Aiden, Yes, but then also their partner yes l Yes,
- 56:50who just kind of naturally not only ribbed aiden, yes, but then
- 56:54just kind of jumped in on everything like it was. It was really great,
- 56:57definitely, and the I love my favor If we're talking favorite games,
- 57:01my favorite game to watch everyone play is the fanfic improv game. Yeah.
- 57:07Yes, great podcast, yeah, great game. Yeah. And I think
- 57:10the Shrek one is my favorite one because it was two people who are really
- 57:15good at improvising that you each your team right, and it was the good
- 57:19this the fix ended up being silly and quick and it was nice it did.
- 57:22That was the quick thick round um or the suck my fanfic round where
- 57:30I felt the most comfortable, Like I was like, okay, I was
- 57:34the least stressed because I love that round because it pushes me out of my
- 57:37comfort zone. You would not know by the look of sheer terror in my
- 57:43eyes and I search for a word that I know when we play that this
- 57:49season, Yes, our patrons will have access to the video. Will you
- 57:55do this thing too? When you when you get upset or when you need
- 57:59to think for a bit, you you breathe away from the podcast. You
- 58:01do this because I don't want to get it because up until they're being videos
- 58:12on the Patreon. It's gonna it's just a purely audio medium. And if
- 58:15I take the only indication of my terror, um like, don't let them
- 58:21see that you're scared. The indication of my terror be that controlled breathe.
- 58:28Ye. Yeah, now that's three is gonna be a goddamn nightmare. And
- 58:32I'm gonna expose Yeah, the first round we play fearful, first round we
- 58:37play of it. I'm gonna clip it and put it on YouTube. Gonna
- 58:42be like I've heard of doing the gym the office from the office, What
- 58:45the hell's she doing? A fucking Kermit Muppet situation for full seconds. Looping
- 58:58back to favorite episodes from season because I did I guess I didn't actually say
- 59:00mine. God, there's so many. I know, they're all so good.
- 59:07They're all so good for different reasons. Forty total episodes, eight game
- 59:12episodes. Genuinely, Thor was my favorite of the Marvel ones we've done.
- 59:15That was a really fun Marvel one to do again The Bachelor, just because
- 59:20of how deep we got into the law of a thing that I didn't even
- 59:22think had that much law, but it turns out lots of law. Yeah.
- 59:27Um oh, Alien and Predator. Yeah, that one was so good
- 59:30as well. God, I can't view ask Universe James Cameron's Avatar Black Panther
- 59:38star Trek Studio Ghibli to finish on, Yeah, Studio Ghiblie of mine too.
- 59:45I'm gonna say my favorite episode from season two. If I have to
- 59:49give one, you do, because you guys have, and then we can
- 59:52look back on this at the end of all of Gatelys see what top episodes
- 59:57were. I'm actually gonna I'm gonna go for one you guys didn't say,
- 1:00:00okay, just to keep it, keep it different. I'm gonna go with
- 1:00:04the succession episode. I'm gonna go with that one because, yeah, the
- 1:00:07chemistry was fantastic. Yeah. Yeah, I'm gonna say the succession one.
- 1:00:10I love a bit of succession. Yeah, you know, I'm just maybe
- 1:00:14choosing the personal I really tried to watch it. I really too many terrible
- 1:00:17people. Yeah that's fair, it's not interested enough, but that's fantastic.
- 1:00:23Guys, guys, I've got one last st at for you. Oh yes,
- 1:00:27please. It is a quantitative one, okay, with a little bit
- 1:00:30of flair. I love it. I love it. I'm I'm picturing numbers,
- 1:00:37but on fire. Yes, that's how it looks in the Google Dot
- 1:00:40animated Listen. I worked really art onless. I got access to something called
- 1:00:46a little tool Listen. Guys, we've had done two years of gately Peruse,
- 1:00:55which is actually pretty crazy. It's pretty cool. It's two seasons,
- 1:00:59forty episode odes, thirty eight of which were games. Over that time period,
- 1:01:05we have had thirty seven guests. Oh fantastic, every single one friend
- 1:01:12we've made along the way. Is that the seven like individual individual guests?
- 1:01:15Yes, that is why. Yeah, we've had a couple of recurring ones.
- 1:01:19Yeah, shout out. I think we've shouted out every single one of
- 1:01:22them thus far in some ways. So I look, if we didn't,
- 1:01:25I'm so sorry. We've never had a bad guest. We've loved playing back
- 1:01:29with all of you. Yes, yeah, it's been a blast. Sorry
- 1:01:31if we didn't mention yet personally absolutely that you were brilliant. Yeah, there's
- 1:01:35a thirty seven of you. I can't go over all your stats and some
- 1:01:37of them are boring and mean, but low points. Yeah, yeah,
- 1:01:45exactly, but every single one of them was a fantastic time, a fantastic
- 1:01:50episode, both in recording and being edited down but also the time that we
- 1:01:54had, the games that we played, the laughs that we shared. Yeah,
- 1:01:58big shout out to one games Master for putting all that work together.
- 1:02:01All the time and commitment that takes into not only building the games, but
- 1:02:07thinking about the format, games mastering and hosting and bringing us all together in
- 1:02:10the first place, the scheduling, the timing to bring thirty seven new people
- 1:02:15into our lives, each with their own projects, their own passions, their
- 1:02:20own like annoyances, but also loves of all these things. All the research
- 1:02:25that you do. You know, like if I if I had a stat
- 1:02:28for how many hours you actually poured into this, that would definitely be highlighted.
- 1:02:31It'd be sad. It'd be fantastic though, because like all of this
- 1:02:36came from your hard work and the thirty seven new friends that we've made along
- 1:02:40the way. Uh, just super fun stuff man like, and yeah,
- 1:02:46it's a big part of my life. I don't advertise that as hard as
- 1:02:50I could, because it's pretty niche. It's a little more niche Thania.
- 1:02:53Like when I when we were back on Drinkipedia and they're like, oh,
- 1:02:57yeah, it's frunk history, and then they listen to an episode and they're
- 1:02:59like, that's pretty fucking crazy. Yeah, this one takes people time to
- 1:03:02explain the history of British panel shows. It's the odd fandom that they like.
- 1:03:07So yeah, who the fuck cares? Yeah? Yeah, oh thanks
- 1:03:10man? That yeah, that that means a lot. You're gonna make me
- 1:03:14cry. Yeah, yeah, no, it's it's it's really cool to compile
- 1:03:17this because it's it's the culmination in numbers of all this stuff that we've done.
- 1:03:22It's hard work, it's a lot of fucking fun, and it's it's
- 1:03:25all been just good natured will throughout the entire fucking way, right, even
- 1:03:30if we're just dicking on Avatar or or Twilight for no reason, you know,
- 1:03:35I mean like, it's been freaking fun the entire way, and that's
- 1:03:38god damn blass. So, and I appreciate you both as captains joining me
- 1:03:44on this crazy ship. Yeah, I guess I'm a mad admiral with my
- 1:03:49two cats. Yeah yeah, one of us a monkey, the other one's
- 1:03:57apparent. So I was mentioning you as like first mate and steering the wheel.
- 1:04:01If you want to be the animals, then that's fine. I'm probably
- 1:04:04like me. He's got glasses I'm the crocodile be eventual, goddamn nightmare.
- 1:04:15No this and you know what with with you reading that, I think my
- 1:04:17my new favorite. No, I didn't read that, I've read we've had
- 1:04:20thirty seven guests over those episodes. Oh sorry, that's what all friends.
- 1:04:25No, I know you're speaking from the hob Yeah. Sorry, I didn't
- 1:04:28mean that. You don't like me where you have to pre write your listeners.
- 1:04:30That was all from the goddamn part. It was like nothing, there's
- 1:04:35just numbers on that. There's nothing on the screen. It's unlike the whole
- 1:04:44time with you reading the number before. My favorite number it's not sixteen,
- 1:04:49even though that may be the number that follows us around for ever, our
- 1:04:53angel number as a podcast. Yes, definitely. I think my favorite number
- 1:04:57out of all of these stats is thirty seven. Yeah, thirty seven new
- 1:05:00people. That is yeah, absolutely, because we've said it before in the
- 1:05:03episode. But the point is less who's winning and more that everybody has a
- 1:05:09good time, who's playing and listening. And I think that the one that
- 1:05:12quantifies that the most, definitely, it's the thirty seven. So if you're
- 1:05:17one of those thirty seven, bless you, thank you, we appreciate you.
- 1:05:21I know I say that all the time, but I've really mean it,
- 1:05:24but you say it so much because you mean it. Yeah, it's
- 1:05:28we only had one mission goal for this. I know you should have more
- 1:05:30if you're trying to start a business, but I never view things from a
- 1:05:33business. But like, the one mission goal was like, can I create
- 1:05:39ninety minutes of fun yeah, for relative strangers in a space and then create
- 1:05:44community out of that? And it seems to have happened, be happening,
- 1:05:48will continue to happen past, present, future. Gately Pers twenty twenty three,
- 1:05:53Season three, Let's Go, You're all gonna die
