- 0:03Speaker 1: up.
- 0:05Speaker 1: next to you.
- 0:07Speaker 1: Kicking off your day in the best way. It's Sonia
- 0:10Speaker 1: and Joakim on the shock circuit. Well, what a Friday
- 0:12Speaker 1: we've got lined up for you for cloud nine happening tomorrow.
- 0:16Speaker 1: Most of our performing artists, they have flown into Singapore already,
- 0:20Speaker 1: and I cannot wait for 9 a.m. because we are
- 0:23Speaker 1: speaking to Max live on air and on TikTok. Singapore's
- 0:27Speaker 1: number one hit music station.
- 0:31Speaker 1: What a show we got lined up for you, aside
- 0:33Speaker 1: from Max joining us at just past 9:00 a.m. Loads
- 0:37Speaker 1: of things to cover in terms of the concert world
- 0:41Speaker 1: and do I say the medical world with the Hunta
- 0:44Speaker 1: virus now being in the news, covered widely and apparently too.
- 0:49Speaker 1: Singaporeans are on board that very cruise ship that has
- 0:52Speaker 1: the outbreak of the Hunta virus. I'll do my best
- 0:55Speaker 1: to break it down for you here on 987, but
- 0:58Speaker 1: also some footballing news, especially if you're following the Europa League.
- 1:02Speaker 1: Congratulations to Unai Emery's Aston Villa. Wow.
- 1:10Speaker 1: It is the first European final in a very, very
- 1:14Speaker 1: long time, and for Unai Emery, I'm very sure people
- 1:17Speaker 1: are calling him Mr. Europa League already. I think it's
- 1:21Speaker 1: more than what, 5 or 6 finals for that man,
- 1:24Speaker 1: so congratulations to that team.
- 1:26Speaker 1: So I think their finals happen on Thursday, 21st of May,
- 1:30Speaker 1: Singapore time at Istanbul. They take on Freiburg and for
- 1:35Speaker 1: Arsenal fans, yes, in case you forgot, it's happening the
- 1:38Speaker 1: weekend of May 30th in Budapest. It's PSG against Arsenal.
- 1:43Speaker 1: The UEFA Champions League. And look, people are dancing and
- 1:47Speaker 1: singing in the cinemas. I don't know whether am I
- 1:50Speaker 1: on the correct FYP or the same FYP as you
- 1:53Speaker 1: on my TikTok or Instagram reels, but now whenever I'm scrolling,
- 1:57Speaker 1: when I see someone watching the Michael movie.
- 2:06Speaker 1: That person is in the cinema. I don't know whether
- 2:08Speaker 1: it here in Singapore, but people are dancing. They are moonwalking.
- 2:13Speaker 1: They're doing the entire Thriller choreography. They're dancing to Billie Jean.
- 2:17Speaker 1: They're dancing to all the songs that were featured in
- 2:20Speaker 1: the Michael movie, and now
- 2:21Speaker 1: Now, another movie, and I know it's happened here in Singapore.
- 2:24Speaker 1: I've seen a few friends and a few people who
- 2:27Speaker 1: follow me. They tagged me in this. People are singing
- 2:30Speaker 1: and jumping about for the Billie Eilish Hit Me Hard
- 2:33Speaker 1: and Soft concert movie. They're dancing to this song.
- 2:43Speaker 1: And they are jumping along to the chorus of this
- 2:45Speaker 1: one as well.
- 2:50Speaker 1: Yeah, so you're watching it in 3D. It's produced by
- 2:53Speaker 1: James Cameron. I'm very sure it's an amazing experience. Um,
- 2:57Speaker 1: I'm on the fence about how to feel about this.
- 2:59Speaker 1: I think people are having fun. True fans are gonna
- 3:01Speaker 1: go watch the movie, but maybe there should be a
- 3:04Speaker 1: cinema option where you can party inside the cinema or
- 3:08Speaker 1: you watch it and appreciate it in silence. Yeah. Maybe
- 3:11Speaker 1: they should have those options. Then when you buy tickets,
- 3:14Speaker 1: you select which cinema you want.
- 3:16Speaker 1: So that it won't disrupt anybody or it won't be
- 3:18Speaker 1: called boring if somebody wants to stand up and dance
- 3:21Speaker 1: to either the Michael movie or the Billie Eilish Hit
- 3:24Speaker 1: Me Hard and Soft concert experience live in 3D. So
- 3:28Speaker 1: go enjoy it, maybe say over the weekend, over Mother's
- 3:30Speaker 1: Day weekend as well. Both movies are still showing on
- 3:33Speaker 1: Singapore on Singapore screens. And not to worry, phone lines
- 3:36Speaker 1: will be open very soon. You can give your school
- 3:40Speaker 1: a shout out whether you're
- 3:41Speaker 1: You're a student, you work there, you could be a
- 3:43Speaker 1: canteen operator, a teacher, vice principal or principal. All are
- 3:48Speaker 1: welcome to represent your school here in Singapore. Sonia and
- 3:52Speaker 1: I are on a mission to hopefully collect all the
- 3:55Speaker 1: schools for this particular segment, and I think we're doing
- 3:58Speaker 1: very well. Every day, almost a different school. Maybe sometimes
- 4:02Speaker 1: we have the same school from Saint Anthony's Kenosha Primary
- 4:04Speaker 1: and CHIJ.
- 4:07Speaker 1: Was it Our Lady of Good Counsel? Yeah, I think
- 4:09Speaker 1: we had two or three callers from there. So OLGC very,
- 4:12Speaker 1: very good representation here on 987. So hopefully today, we
- 4:16Speaker 1: get a different caller from a different school. When we
- 4:20Speaker 1: come back though, if you're a fan of football, oh,
- 4:23Speaker 1: there is a place, there are so
- 4:24Speaker 1: Many places here in Singapore that are streaming the games live,
- 4:28Speaker 1: but how about a big screen and some good food
- 4:32Speaker 1: as well? Details. Uh, we are slightly more than a
- 4:35Speaker 1: month away to World Cup 2026. I'm very sure that
- 4:39Speaker 1: us here in Singapore, we're going to catch World Cup fever, yeah.
- 4:43Speaker 1: Cannot wait.
- 4:45Speaker 1: It happens once every 4 years. Everyone will wear their
- 4:50Speaker 1: favorite countries and national team. Hopefully, we live in a
- 4:53Speaker 1: lifetime where in the near future we could see Singapore
- 4:56Speaker 1: play in a World Cup final. That said, here in Singapore,
- 5:00Speaker 1: there are loads of places offering screenings as well. If
- 5:03Speaker 1: you want to subscribe for yourself, you can do so
- 5:05Speaker 1: on meWatch all 104 games live, but again, don't forget.
- 5:11Speaker 1: The games happening in the US, Canada, and Mexico, that
- 5:14Speaker 1: means it'll be happening morning, Singapore time, like 7:00 a.m.,
- 5:18Speaker 1: 10:00 a.m., and I even saw a 12:00 p.m. kickoff
- 5:21Speaker 1: somewhere and games as early or late, whichever you see
- 5:25Speaker 1: it as, 3 a.m. in the morning. If you're looking
- 5:29Speaker 1: for some good food and you wanna gather your khakis
- 5:31Speaker 1: and go on down to a location to watch it.
- 5:33Speaker 1: On a huge screen. How about our friends over at
- 5:36Speaker 1: Lal Pasar, where they have not one but 2 130-inch
- 5:42Speaker 1: screens screening all the World Cup action. Some stores will
- 5:46Speaker 1: be open 24/7, and the one bad news is, yes,
- 5:52Speaker 1: I know some of us might enjoy football action with
- 5:55Speaker 1: a pint or two.
- 5:56Speaker 1: Alcohol won't be available strictly from 30 a.m. to 6:00 a.m.
- 6:01Speaker 1: I repeat, it won't be available from 3:00 a.m. to
- 6:04Speaker 1: 6:00 a.m. Timings before and after that, you can order
- 6:08Speaker 1: your favorite pint and enjoy your footballing action and not
- 6:11Speaker 1: forgetting when it comes to your alcohol beverage, enjoy responsibly.
- 6:15Speaker 1: I cannot wait, and again,
- 6:17Speaker 1: I, I can't decide between England or Portugal. And then
- 6:23Speaker 1: there are dark horses, Spain and France, whose teams are
- 6:26Speaker 1: very stacked. Brazil could be in the running as well,
- 6:30Speaker 1: but in 2022, I took a pick already. I'm gonna
- 6:34Speaker 1: stick with England. I, I think it has to be
- 6:37Speaker 1: England's year. All their prime players are performing quite well.
- 6:41Speaker 1: Declan Rice, Saka, Rashford, Kobe Mainu, Harry Kane, for example.
- 6:47Speaker 1: So we'll see, and it's been 60 years since England
- 6:51Speaker 1: won their very first World Cup. They, they need to
- 6:53Speaker 1: do something. Yeah, it's now or never for England. There
- 6:56Speaker 1: we go. Hey, 97, I'm Egan. Hello, Egan, what school
- 7:01Speaker 1: are you from? I'm from Bukit Panjang Primary School. Bukit
- 7:05Speaker 1: Panjang Primary School, and OK, and what level?
- 7:07Speaker 1: What are you in this year? I'm primary 6. PSLE
- 7:10Speaker 1: year for you. Are you ready for it? How are
- 7:13Speaker 1: your exams and how is it revising everything before going
- 7:18Speaker 1: for PSLE later on in the year? It's actually going
- 7:20Speaker 1: very well. I'm actually going for my math WA2 today. So,
- 7:24Speaker 1: what is P6 math like? Loads of algebra? What, what
- 7:27Speaker 1: are you learning right now?
- 7:29Speaker 1: Um, I'm learning volume. Oh, volume, OK. Length times breadth
- 7:35Speaker 1: times height if I'm not wrong. OK, Egan, what song
- 7:38Speaker 1: can I get for you, please?
- 7:40Speaker 1: Um, I would like Dracula and I'll go.
- 7:46Speaker 1: And
- 7:48Speaker 1: It's for my it is for my class and my
- 7:52Speaker 1: sister who's in the car with me. Alright, thank you
- 7:55Speaker 1: very much for your call. E. Take care, OK? OK, bye-bye.
- 8:00Speaker 1: And as of yesterday, you know our friends over at
- 8:03Speaker 1: Live Nation? Yeah, Live Nation Malaysia, Live Nation Hong Kong,
- 8:09Speaker 1: Live Nation Thailand, and maybe even Live Nation Japan, if
- 8:13Speaker 1: I'm not wrong, and Live Nation Singapore.
- 8:17Speaker 1: They posted a very cryptic video and it's not just
- 8:20Speaker 1: any random video. Usually for them to post something like that.
- 8:25Speaker 1: That means a deal is more or less done, and
- 8:28Speaker 1: this man, at least here in Singapore, after 7 years,
- 8:33Speaker 1: he is finally returning. It could be this year or
- 8:37Speaker 1: maybe even next year. It's the weekend.
- 8:49Speaker 1: It's the final leg of his After Hours Till Dawn tour.
- 8:54Speaker 1: It's gonna be staged in Asia. All we have is
- 8:57Speaker 1: that video. We, we don't know what month, we don't
- 9:00Speaker 1: know which year yet. It could be next year or
- 9:03Speaker 1: end of this year, but given how BTS are coming
- 9:05Speaker 1: end of this year, I don't know whether there will
- 9:07Speaker 1: be a clash. So maybe this could be the first
- 9:10Speaker 1: major act of 2027. I'm just speculating here, OK? I
- 9:15Speaker 1: was there the last time the Weekend was here in Singapore.
- 9:17Speaker 1: This man can sing.
- 9:18Speaker 1: And if you're a fan of Michael Jackson, naturally, you'll
- 9:23Speaker 1: be a fan of The Weekend as well. I think
- 9:24Speaker 1: their tones are quite similar, but for The Weekend, of course,
- 9:27Speaker 1: more poppish R&B and maybe electronic pop as well. I
- 9:31Speaker 1: cannot wait. Will he stage the show the very same
- 9:35Speaker 1: way he did in maybe say Sao Paulo, Brazil, and
- 9:37Speaker 1: other areas where not one, not two, but millions of
- 9:43Speaker 1: people have caught it live across the US and Europe.
- 9:47Speaker 1: So I cannot wait to see when he'll be here
- 9:48Speaker 1: in Singapore. And for 987, you best bet, we'll do
- 9:52Speaker 1: what we can to take you closest to the weekend.
- 9:55Speaker 1: In the meantime, I'm gonna break some rules here and
- 9:59Speaker 1: play one of my personal favorite songs. From what I
- 10:02Speaker 1: think is his best album, some would say, yeah, After
- 10:05Speaker 1: Hours is his best album. For me, I'm gonna stick
- 10:07Speaker 1: with Dawn FM. It's very radio-centric. The skies look quite
- 10:11Speaker 1: gloomy here at the one North area. It could be
- 10:13Speaker 1: raining at your area as well, so if you're on
- 10:15Speaker 1: the road.
- 10:15Speaker 1: Please make sure you drive safely. If you're walking, make
- 10:18Speaker 1: sure you wear shoes with proper grip and just walk carefully.
- 10:22Speaker 1: Don't use your phone, just keep your eyes wherever you're going.
- 10:25Speaker 1: That said though, um, look, in the news as of late,
- 10:28Speaker 1: loads of speculation, loads of panic about the Hunta virus.
- 10:32Speaker 1: This is where, um, here on the national platform, I do,
- 10:36Speaker 1: and I feel compelled to say this, as always with
- 10:39Speaker 1: any new disease like COVID, for example, when it was
- 10:43Speaker 1: becoming a thing.
- 10:44Speaker 1: There was loads of misinformation that was spreading in your
- 10:47Speaker 1: WhatsApp group chats, your Telegram group chats, people saying, oh,
- 10:50Speaker 1: use this, use that kind of alcohol to clean your
- 10:53Speaker 1: entire house, that kind of thing. Don't panic, please, and
- 10:57Speaker 1: always consume your information from a trusted source. That's our
- 11:01Speaker 1: friends over at CNA or even the Ministry of Health. So,
- 11:05Speaker 1: what we know so far, and as you heard earlier
- 11:08Speaker 1: on 938.
- 11:09Speaker 1: Um, our friends, two Singaporeans, unfortunately, isolated at the National
- 11:14Speaker 1: Center for Infectious Diseases. They're going through robust testing, a
- 11:19Speaker 1: lot of testing being done on them, and as you
- 11:22Speaker 1: heard earlier as well, they'll wait 30 days, they'll test
- 11:26Speaker 1: them again before they release them back to public here
- 11:29Speaker 1: in Singapore. Now, apparently for the Hanta virus, what I'm
- 11:33Speaker 1: understanding is
- 11:34Speaker 1: It was spread through rodents. So, for example, if you
- 11:38Speaker 1: inhaled dust that's infected with the rodents' urine droppings or saliva,
- 11:43Speaker 1: you could catch the virus and as it stands, the
- 11:47Speaker 1: Hunta virus cruise ship outbreak.
- 11:49Speaker 1: Could possibly have been caused by a couple going to
- 11:54Speaker 1: a landfill area where of course there'll be rodents and
- 11:57Speaker 1: all there to do bird watching. So, the moment we
- 12:00Speaker 1: get more updates here in Singapore, we'll let you know
- 12:03Speaker 1: and of course our friends again over at CNA, they
- 12:05Speaker 1: have more official details for you. There we go. If
- 12:09Speaker 1: you
- 12:09Speaker 1: has joined us on what looks to be a very
- 12:11Speaker 1: rainy Friday morning. Welcome to the show. Don't forget at
- 12:15Speaker 1: just past 9:00 a.m. we have Max joining us, gonna
- 12:18Speaker 1: tease us more about his performance tomorrow for Media Corp's
- 12:21Speaker 1: cloud nine. That said, um, something I feel strongly about,
- 12:26Speaker 1: it's illegal wildlife feeding. We have plenty of such cases
- 12:32Speaker 1: here in Singapore. It's still being brought up in parliament.
- 12:36Speaker 1: People here in Singapore are recording other people feeding the wildlife,
- 12:39Speaker 1: putting it up on TikTok. I think recently there was
- 12:41Speaker 1: a bird feeder in Chua Chu Kang where she was
- 12:44Speaker 1: recorded and then she flips off the guy recording the video.
- 12:49Speaker 1: So we, we have plenty of cases and now there
- 12:52Speaker 1: are new measures in place and apparently the fines have doubled. Now,
- 12:57Speaker 1: for a first-time offender, you could face a fine of
- 13:01Speaker 1: up to $10,000.
- 13:04Speaker 1: For a repeat offender, you could face a fine of
- 13:07Speaker 1: up to $20,000 or even jail time of up to
- 13:12Speaker 1: 12 months. Yes, OK, the punishment is more strict now.
- 13:18Speaker 1: But here's the thing, and I don't envy those in
- 13:22Speaker 1: parliament and our law enforcement officers here in Singapore because,
- 13:27Speaker 1: and this is based on what I've seen so far,
- 13:30Speaker 1: at least on social media.
- 13:32Speaker 1: Somehow the bird feeders or the illegal wildlife feeders, right,
- 13:35Speaker 1: they they they come from a certain generation and are
- 13:38Speaker 1: of a certain age and if Sonia were here and
- 13:41Speaker 1: I'm knowing how compassionate she is, she would say things like, yeah,
- 13:45Speaker 1: but they are, but they're combating loneliness, maybe this really
- 13:49Speaker 1: helps them feel good. This gives them a sense of peace. Yes,
- 13:53Speaker 1: I agree. I'm all for feeling good and doing good
- 13:56Speaker 1: for yourself, but
- 13:57Speaker 1: If it affects the whole country, if it becomes, you know,
- 14:01Speaker 1: a habit that
- 14:03Speaker 1: Increases unhygienic behavior, the birds are leaving droppings everywhere, it,
- 14:09Speaker 1: it really dirties the whole neighborhood, then it is definitely
- 14:12Speaker 1: a problem and very soon we may not be able
- 14:15Speaker 1: to control the bird population here in Singapore. But given
- 14:18Speaker 1: how they are of a certain age, like,
- 14:21Speaker 1: If you're a law enforcement officer or or maybe even
- 14:25Speaker 1: someone who takes part in parliament discussions,
- 14:28Speaker 1: What's it gonna look like, you know, maybe arresting a
- 14:32Speaker 1: 70 year old uncle or auntie for feeding the wildlife
- 14:35Speaker 1: here in Singapore and fining him or her up to
- 14:38Speaker 1: $20,000 or jail term of up to a year. Yeah, this,
- 14:42Speaker 1: this part I do not envy. It's a tough decision,
- 14:44Speaker 1: but
- 14:46Speaker 1: Feeding the wildlife here in Singapore, it has to really stop. Look,
- 14:50Speaker 1: there are plenty of food and vegetation available for the
- 14:53Speaker 1: wildlife to go find in Singapore, and not just the birds,
- 14:57Speaker 1: but even the monkeys as well. People are still feeding
- 15:01Speaker 1: them over at MacRitchie. This has to stop because they
- 15:05Speaker 1: are now associating humans with food and whenever they see
- 15:08Speaker 1: a human with
- 15:08Speaker 1: a plastic bag or now even a bag, the monkeys
- 15:12Speaker 1: will approach. So they are all intelligent people. Be extra
- 15:15Speaker 1: careful and just avoid them and don't feed them, please.
- 15:18Speaker 1: And again, at least in Singapore, we are privileged that
- 15:22Speaker 1: our battles are currently against crows, dodgy massage parlors, and
- 15:28Speaker 1: I'm very sure this isn't an old battle that we've
- 15:31Speaker 1: been fighting.
- 15:32Speaker 1: I don't know why. Maybe it became more prominent after
- 15:35Speaker 1: COVID measures were lifted when concerts started coming back. It's
- 15:40Speaker 1: the battle against the bots. I mean, look, for Leve's concert,
- 15:44Speaker 1: for Post Malone's concert, and for all the concerts I've
- 15:47Speaker 1: been to the last 2 or 3 years, even Taylor Swift, Coldplay.
- 15:51Speaker 1: It was really difficult to get concert tickets. I think
- 15:55Speaker 1: we're not just fighting with fellow humans, we are fighting
- 15:57Speaker 1: with bots as well and if you follow CNA's Talking Point,
- 16:00Speaker 1: there's actually an episode where they interviewed a guy who
- 16:04Speaker 1: had multiple bot accounts on standby for people to
- 16:07Speaker 1: To engage him, to use his services to guarantee concert tickets,
- 16:12Speaker 1: and not just concert tickets, driving as well. Now, according
- 16:17Speaker 1: to our coordinating minister for National Security and Minister for
- 16:21Speaker 1: Home Affairs, Kay Shanmugam, in 2025 alone,
- 16:26Speaker 1: 13,400 booking bot accounts were taken down from three driving schools.
- 16:33Speaker 1: So if you're 18 and above trying to get a
- 16:35Speaker 1: slot for your driving school or driving lesson.
- 16:38Speaker 1: It could be very tough because you're not competing with
- 16:40Speaker 1: fellow students. You're competing with all these bot accounts as
- 16:43Speaker 1: well who are somehow able to secure bookings and you
- 16:46Speaker 1: have to wait, what, a year, 7 months, 9 months
- 16:49Speaker 1: before your first lesson, and what about your exams as well? So,
- 16:53Speaker 1: I'm gonna open the phone lines over at 669.
- 16:56Speaker 1: 11987 and you can WhatsApp us your frustrations, your thoughts
- 17:01Speaker 1: over at 90050987. Maybe your story could be heard by
- 17:08Speaker 1: someone important here who's tuned in to 987. And my
- 17:11Speaker 1: question is, have you ever lost out to a bot before?
- 17:15Speaker 1: And what was it regarding? Let me know your story.
- 17:17Speaker 1: Could be concert tickets, could be cruise bookings, could be
- 17:22Speaker 1: anything that involves the online world and online bookings. Let
- 17:25Speaker 1: me know because I I feel as if I'm not
- 17:28Speaker 1: alone here on 987. I have your stories to deal with. 669-119-87-9005-0987.
- 17:36Speaker 1: If you do like your answer, what's coming your way,
- 17:39Speaker 1: of course, a very nice dining experience to Cha Mulan.
- 17:43Speaker 1: On the topic of, well, Singaporeans, our battle against bots
- 17:47Speaker 1: to book your driving license, driving license, driving lessons, I mean,
- 17:51Speaker 1: your concert tickets, and anything else that requires online bookings.
- 17:55Speaker 1: I wanna go to WhatsApp right now and just say
- 17:57Speaker 1: good morning to a few people who have texted in
- 18:00Speaker 1: with their frustrations. Firstly, I wanna say hello to Jason.
- 18:05Speaker 1: Jason says, hey, Joakim, I think badminton court bookings are
- 18:09Speaker 1: impossible now.
- 18:12Speaker 1: You you know it's gotten bad when badminton courts are
- 18:15Speaker 1: now involved.
- 18:16Speaker 1: The second slots open, everything's gone. Either people are insanely
- 18:22Speaker 1: fast or some kind of automation is happening behind the scenes.
- 18:25Speaker 1: I wanna say good morning to Ia. Ia says, not
- 18:29Speaker 1: driving license or lessons, but concert tickets. I queued online
- 18:34Speaker 1: the moment sales opened and still lost out. 5 minutes later,
- 18:37Speaker 1: resale listings were everywhere at triple the price. It is super.
- 18:42Speaker 1: Frustrating. And I want to say good morning to Afik.
- 18:45Speaker 1: Afik says, absolutely joking. I was trying to book driving
- 18:48Speaker 1: lessons for weeks. Every slot disappeared in seconds. Then my
- 18:53Speaker 1: friends told me people were using bots. I've never used
- 18:58Speaker 1: a bot myself, but after missing out so many times
- 19:00Speaker 1: on bookings, I kind of understand why people do it.
- 19:03Speaker 1: If the system feels unfair, people start looking for shortcuts.
- 19:07Speaker 1: I absolutely agree.
- 19:08Speaker 1: Agree, Afiq. Well, if you have any stories to share
- 19:11Speaker 1: about your battle against AI bots or even bots to
- 19:14Speaker 1: secure your bookings for concert tickets, driving lessons, and now
- 19:19Speaker 1: badminton courts, I would not be surprised very soon we'll
- 19:22Speaker 1: hear a pickleball court bookings as well, or paddle or pedal,
- 19:26Speaker 1: however you say it. Well, in parliament lately, according to
- 19:29Speaker 1: coordinating Minister for National Security and Minister for Home Affairs, Mr.
- 19:33Speaker 1: K Shanmugam,
- 19:35Speaker 1: He said that in 2025, 3 driving schools that we
- 19:38Speaker 1: have here in Singapore took down 13,400 booking bot accounts.
- 19:45Speaker 1: So I guess for Singapore, aside from crows and dodgy
- 19:48Speaker 1: massage parlors, we can add bots into what we're battling
- 19:51Speaker 1: against now and whether it's concert tickets, bots, or badminton
- 19:56Speaker 1: courses like we heard earlier from Jason.
- 19:58Speaker 1: 669-11987. Daniel, have you faced an issue with bots before?
- 20:04Speaker 1: Tell us.
- 20:05Speaker 2: I've been trying to learn and it's really impossible to
- 20:12Speaker 2: get any practical lessons.
- 20:14Speaker 1: What's the waiting time like usually?
- 20:18Speaker 2: Oh, the next available slot is actually in November right now.
- 20:21Speaker 1: Oh, that's like wow, 6 months away. OK. What do
- 20:25Speaker 1: you think can be done because this seems to be
- 20:27Speaker 1: an issue that will evolve here in Singapore and all
- 20:29Speaker 1: over the world.
- 20:31Speaker 2: I'm not sure exactly how, but because this is a
- 20:34Speaker 2: capacity issue whereby we are lacking the vehicles, the training
- 20:39Speaker 2: vehicles and the instructors, so.
- 20:43Speaker 2: I guess one way we can do it is to
- 20:46Speaker 2: maybe get a waiver of the membership extension fees and
- 20:51Speaker 2: the validity of the provisional driver's license, uh, of 2 years,
- 20:56Speaker 2: so that the students can have more time, uh, to
- 21:01Speaker 2: learn the driving.
- 21:02Speaker 2: Oh,
- 21:03Speaker 1: hopefully someone can listen to this.
- 21:05Speaker 1: Suggestion and take it into their schools. All the best
- 21:07Speaker 1: to you and your daughter, OK. I hope she gets
- 21:08Speaker 1: to learn driving very soon. Take care, Daniel.
- 21:11Speaker 2: Yeah, thanks. Cheers, man.
- 21:12Speaker 1: Bye-bye. Bye-bye. Got a text coming in from an anonymous
- 21:16Speaker 1: texter saying, morning Joakim. Mine is trying to book a
- 21:19Speaker 1: reservation for a restaurant. First, they're not allowed to book
- 21:22Speaker 1: in advance at least 15 days away from the date
- 21:25Speaker 1: you want to make a reservation.
- 21:27Speaker 1: Second, when I tried to book again like 2 days
- 21:29Speaker 1: before the actual date I want, it's sold out. The
- 21:33Speaker 1: restaurant doesn't let walk-in-only reservations. In the end, I just
- 21:36Speaker 1: give up on it. It feels like booking a concert ticket,
- 21:39Speaker 1: but all sold out. I did try to refresh and
- 21:43Speaker 1: try again, but no luck. Oh no. I wonder whether
- 21:46Speaker 1: this restaurant a burnt ends.
- 21:48Speaker 1: It's very hard to get a booking from burnt ends,
- 21:51Speaker 1: by the way. But yes, keep your calls and texts
- 21:53Speaker 1: coming in. Hey Aiko, in the Dark, right here on 987,
- 21:56Speaker 1: your number one hit music station. That's how we feel sometimes.
- 21:59Speaker 1: When we lose out to bots of all things, in
- 22:02Speaker 1: the Dark, whether it's concert tickets, booking lessons for your driving,
- 22:08Speaker 1: and now even like Jason's case, booking badminton courts. I
- 22:11Speaker 1: did not realize it became a thing now.
- 22:12Speaker 1: Now, I want to go back to WhatsApp, 669 90050987,
- 22:18Speaker 1: saying good morning to Joey. Joey says, hey, Joakim, bots
- 22:22Speaker 1: on shopping platforms like Shopee or Lazada in event sales,
- 22:26Speaker 1: for example, 5566, limited pieces, $55 branded appliances of 550
- 22:33Speaker 1: branded fashion items. I can never get them. I always
- 22:36Speaker 1: lose out.
- 22:38Speaker 1: Maybe Joey, your fellow competitors, the thumbs are faster, or
- 22:41Speaker 1: they could be using bots again. Wanna say hello to
- 22:46Speaker 1: Derek on WhatsApp. Hey Joe, the recent one that is
- 22:49Speaker 1: hard to book though, I don't think a bot was involved,
- 22:52Speaker 1: was the iron cycle test run on board the Disney Adventure.
- 22:55Speaker 1: Ops at 12:00 p.m. while I was on board. At
- 22:58Speaker 1: 12 p.m. and 30 seconds into the opening, all the
- 23:01Speaker 1: slots were taken up already. Way!
- 23:05Speaker 1: One more coming in from Susan. Hello Joakim. My kid's
- 23:08Speaker 1: enrichment class registration was another one. Registration opened at 10:00 a.m.
- 23:13Speaker 1: and by 10:01, everything was full. Parents nowadays are operating
- 23:19Speaker 1: like they're buying Taylor Swift tickets.
- 23:22Speaker 1: Well, even enrichment classes now can now, so, all these
- 23:25Speaker 1: bot action. I've started my TikTok live stream very early.
- 23:29Speaker 1: You can go on down, join us and say hello
- 23:31Speaker 1: before we bring in Max live on the show. But
- 23:34Speaker 1: for now, we're on the topic of fighting against bots.
- 23:38Speaker 1: When I say bots, it's those that
- 23:40Speaker 1: Kinda shut you up from booking your favorite concert tickets,
- 23:44Speaker 1: driving lessons, badminton courts even, and earlier from Susan's text message.
- 23:51Speaker 1: Kids enrichment classes. Wow, what school is this? I wonder.
- 23:55Speaker 1: Going to WhatsApp right now, I wanna say good morning
- 23:58Speaker 1: to Nana. Nana says, morning Joakim.
- 24:01Speaker 1: I find it almost impossible to book train tickets to JB,
- 24:07Speaker 1: especially for the weekends. Even with advance planning, it really
- 24:10Speaker 1: is quite difficult to secure those train tickets. And another
- 24:14Speaker 1: one coming in as well, the same sentiment from Hamir. Hamir, yes,
- 24:20Speaker 1: you say that getting train tickets to JB is very difficult.
- 24:23Speaker 1: You want to book for October already? The tickets are
- 24:26Speaker 1: sold out, and that's 4.
- 24:28Speaker 1: 4 to 5 months away. Yikes. And one more coming
- 24:31Speaker 1: in from Faisal. Faisal, you say, hey, Joakim, I feel
- 24:35Speaker 1: that we have become more dependent on tech and digital
- 24:38Speaker 1: life that we forgot how to become human. There is
- 24:41Speaker 1: no more human touch and service line. Booking and help
- 24:44Speaker 1: lines have been with chatbots. Do away with automation where possible.
- 24:48Speaker 1: Bring back human interactions. Well, that could be very, very tough.
- 24:53Speaker 1: But let's see how this
- 24:54Speaker 1: The whole bot issue gets tackled. And there is no
- 24:57Speaker 1: middle ground when it comes to our battle with bots online,
- 25:01Speaker 1: whether for concert tickets, driving lessons, kindergarten classes, not not kindergarten, sorry,
- 25:06Speaker 1: kids enrichment classes. Thank you very much for your text,
- 25:09Speaker 1: Susan and Jason earlier sharing about badminton courts, and then
- 25:13Speaker 1: Nana and Hamir texted us about booking trains to JB.
- 25:18Speaker 1: It's getting more difficult now. Hopefully, something gets done.
- 25:21Speaker 1: I, I wish I could do something about it. All
- 25:23Speaker 1: I can do is get your frustrations here on 987
- 25:25Speaker 1: and hopefully someone important is tuned in and listening to
- 25:28Speaker 1: the voice of the people here in Singapore. But for
- 25:31Speaker 1: today's winner, I wanna give it to Daniel who called
- 25:34Speaker 1: us earlier. Daniel, congratulations and thank you.
- 25:38Speaker 1: What's coming your way is a very nice Cha Mulan
- 25:40Speaker 1: dining experience. bubble tea like you've never had before, and
- 25:43Speaker 1: the spanking new stores now available for you over at
- 25:46Speaker 1: IMM as well as at North Point City. So, Daniel,
- 25:50Speaker 1: we'll contact you in just a bit for your email address.
- 25:52Speaker 1: Thank you so much for all your calls and texts,
- 25:54Speaker 1: by the way, and in case you missed anything, not
- 25:56Speaker 1: to worry, you can catch up on Spotify as well
- 25:59Speaker 1: as on me. Listen. It's great, the Middle right here
- 26:01Speaker 1: on 987, your number one hit music station.
- 26:04Speaker 1: Welcome Gilmana here with you, and there is no middle
- 26:07Speaker 1: ground when it comes to our battle with bots online,
- 26:11Speaker 1: whether for concert tickets, driving lessons, kindergarten classes, not not kindergarten, sorry,
- 26:16Speaker 1: kids enrichment classes. Thank you very much for your texts,
- 26:19Speaker 1: Susan and Jason earlier sharing about badminton courts, and then
- 26:23Speaker 1: Nana and Hamir texted us about booking trains to JB.
- 26:27Speaker 1: It's getting more difficult now. Hopefully, something gets done.
- 26:31Speaker 1: I, I wish I could do something about it. All
- 26:33Speaker 1: I can do is get your frustrations here on 987
- 26:35Speaker 1: and hopefully someone important is tuned in and listening to
- 26:38Speaker 1: the voice of the people here in Singapore. But for
- 26:41Speaker 1: today's winner, I wanna give it to Daniel who called
- 26:43Speaker 1: us earlier. Daniel, congratulations and thank you.
- 26:48Speaker 1: What's coming your way? It's a very nice Cha Mulan
- 26:50Speaker 1: dining experience. bubble tea like you've never had before, and
- 26:53Speaker 1: the spanking new stores now available for you over at
- 26:56Speaker 1: IMM as well as at North Point City. So, Daniel,
- 27:00Speaker 1: we'll contact you in just a bit for your email address.
- 27:02Speaker 1: Thank you so much for all your calls and texts,
- 27:04Speaker 1: by the way, and in case you missed anything.
- 27:06Speaker 1: Not to worry, you can catch up on Spotify as
- 27:08Speaker 1: well as on me. Listen. So, you might have read
- 27:11Speaker 1: about that Sentosa, that Sentosa rather, that crocodile that was
- 27:15Speaker 1: seen along Sentosa Cove. Uh, the update is, and again,
- 27:19Speaker 1: please don't attack the messenger. You can read the whole
- 27:22Speaker 1: article for yourself and leave a comment about how you feel.
- 27:25Speaker 1: The crocodile was caught and euthanized humanely because according to
- 27:30Speaker 1: the experts, um, for example, if they capture the crocodile,
- 27:34Speaker 1: they release it elsewhere.
- 27:36Speaker 1: There is a high chance the crocodile might actually go
- 27:39Speaker 1: back to where it was spotted, where at Sentosa Cove,
- 27:42Speaker 1: where humans are there, and it could pose a huge
- 27:45Speaker 1: safety risk. There you go. That's the explanation available and
- 27:49Speaker 1: I think all the signage about crocodile sightings can come
- 27:51Speaker 1: down over at Sentosa Cove now. Now, next week, it's
- 27:55Speaker 1: gonna be a very interesting week for us here on
- 27:57Speaker 1: the shock circuit.
- 27:58Speaker 1: We've been talking about this all year so far and
- 28:03Speaker 1: it's finally down to next week where our darling Sonia
- 28:06Speaker 1: Chow will say, I do. So, she'll be with us
- 28:09Speaker 1: on Monday and Tuesday, and from Wednesday onwards, she's off
- 28:13Speaker 1: for wedding leave and then she's off for her honeymoon.
- 28:17Speaker 1: So you've got yours truly, keeping you company every weekday
- 28:20Speaker 1: morning from Wednesday onwards, going solo for about maybe 13
- 28:24Speaker 1: or
- 28:24Speaker 1: 15 days, but not to worry, I'll do my best
- 28:27Speaker 1: to make sure your weekday mornings are as entertaining as
- 28:30Speaker 1: it can be. But for Sonia and Jeremy, their journey
- 28:34Speaker 1: has been shared on YouTube. There is a series called
- 28:36Speaker 1: I Do, which I kinda enjoy watching, by the way,
- 28:38Speaker 1: and it's very nice to see their dynamic. One is
- 28:41Speaker 1: a chill bride, that's Sonia, and one is an Excel
- 28:44Speaker 1: sheet planner, that's Jeremy, by the way. So go watch
- 28:47Speaker 1: the series. I think 4 or 5 episodes are available.
- 28:50Speaker 1: People are actually loving it. They are relating a lot
- 28:53Speaker 1: to this and, and I'm very happy for Sonia and
- 28:55Speaker 1: Jeremy who have shared about their wedding in a very
- 28:57Speaker 1: classy and easy to digest and less cringe manner. I
- 29:02Speaker 1: kid you not because some weddings are, yeah, overdone.
