- 0:10Speaker 1: Hey, everybody. Welcome to Girls Gone Hallmark, a bonus episode
- 0:14Speaker 1: of Long Story Short the podcast. I'm Megan, I'm Wendy,
- 0:19Speaker 1: and today we're talking about Just One Kiss, which premiere
- 0:22Speaker 1: premiered on Saturday, April second on the Hallmark Channel as
- 0:28Speaker 1: part of Hallmarks Spring into Love lineup. Before we get

- 0:59Speaker 2: are our views, anything that's on your mind.
- 1:04Speaker 1: You know what I've noticed, what is that we get
- 1:07Speaker 1: emails sometimes for this type of podcast episode, our Hallmark episodes,
- 1:12Speaker 1: and we get emails for our regular Tuesday Just Talking
- 1:16Speaker 1: about Life podcast, and the Hallmark fans pull no punches.
- 1:22Speaker 2: You think.
- 1:24Speaker 1: They're very protective of their movies and their actors and
- 1:29Speaker 1: their universe, and I appreciate it. I appreciate that you
- 1:32Speaker 1: have very strong feelings for it, but it is a
- 1:35Speaker 1: remarkable difference.
- 1:37Speaker 2: It definitely is, and I'm not offended by it. Like
- 1:39Speaker 2: everybody can have their opinion about it. I mean, but
- 1:41Speaker 2: don't come with me like talking badly about you know,
- 1:47Speaker 2: Hallmark's move towards diversity.
- 1:50Speaker 1: No, no, no, the movies are too woke. Come out, yeah, exactly.
- 1:55Speaker 1: I wanted to remind listeners because some people are brand
- 1:58Speaker 1: new to our podcast and I I wanted to take
- 2:00Speaker 1: a quick second and remind them the provenance of this podcast.
- 2:04Speaker 1: How this even started. Because people may think, like you're
- 2:09Speaker 1: a Hallmark seasoned regular, I'm really not. I mean you
- 2:14Speaker 1: are now. But this started because in October twenty twenty,
- 2:19Speaker 1: Whndy had never seen a single Hallmark movie. And I
- 2:23Speaker 1: would consider myself a Hallmark movie fan, but will admit
- 2:27Speaker 1: that mostly that meant I was watching countdown to Christmas
- 2:30Speaker 1: movies and not catching very many throughout the year. And
- 2:35Speaker 1: so we started from a place of absolutely no Hallmark
- 2:39Speaker 1: knowledge and like casual Hallmark watcher knowledge and have become
- 2:44Speaker 1: I would say, quite well versed in the Hallmark universe.
- 2:48Speaker 2: I mean quite well versed. Maybe not so much because
- 2:52Speaker 2: we were talking specifically about an actor who was in
- 2:56Speaker 2: a movie late last year, and I was like, I
- 3:00Speaker 2: can't even remember what movie that was. I can't even
- 3:03Speaker 2: remember who the actor was, so I would consider myself
- 3:07Speaker 2: like not verst at all.
- 3:10Speaker 1: All right, fair enough, okay, I talk about this movie. Yeah,
- 3:15Speaker 1: do you have a synopsis for Just One Kiss?
- 3:18Speaker 2: I sure do. Sparks fly between Professor Mia and lounge
- 3:22Speaker 2: singer Tony through a series of chance encounters. Little do
- 3:27Speaker 2: they know their mothers are scheming to set them up
- 3:30Speaker 2: stars Christa Rodriguez and Santino Fontana.
- 3:34Speaker 1: All right, let's talk about some news and notes about
- 3:37Speaker 1: Just One Kiss.
- 3:39Speaker 2: Well, give it to us.
- 3:41Speaker 1: So, first of all, this was written by Nina Weyman,
- 3:43Speaker 1: who is a prolific Hallmark writer. She's up there in
- 3:46Speaker 1: terms of my favorite Hallmark writers. I will forgive her
- 3:50Speaker 1: for never kiss a man on a Christmas letter because
- 3:51Speaker 1: we did get Don't Go Break in My Heart last year.
- 3:55Speaker 1: And also I think this movie is a gem, so
- 3:59Speaker 1: they can't. I'll be hits out of the park.
- 4:02Speaker 2: Sure, sure, of course. It was filmed in Vancouver, Canada,
- 4:05Speaker 2: and the movie began filming on January twenty eighth, whoa
- 4:10Speaker 2: tight turnaround.
- 4:11Speaker 1: There's Hallmark with their quick turnarounds. Did you think that
- 4:15Speaker 1: some of the exterior shots had real movie set back
- 4:19Speaker 1: lot vibes to you?
- 4:20Speaker 2: Absolutely? And I almost thought, like, are they filming this, like,
- 4:24Speaker 2: you know, what is it Universal Studios.
- 4:26Speaker 1: Here, right, you know, Warner Brothers back lie.
- 4:29Speaker 2: Yeah, Yes, I definitely thought that, like these are supposed
- 4:32Speaker 2: to be the streets of New York, not the streets,
- 4:34Speaker 2: but you know, like a New York neighborhood or whatever.
- 4:37Speaker 1: Yeah. And I don't know if there is some sort
- 4:40Speaker 1: of lot situation somewhere in Vancouver that they use for
- 4:44Speaker 1: some of these exterior shots, or if these are all
- 4:47Speaker 1: just exterior street street shots that they were using, but
- 4:50Speaker 1: specifically like outside when they're walking through the city. It
- 4:54Speaker 1: felt very much like like a Luke's Diner on the
- 4:58Speaker 1: back lot of her brother's studio situation.
- 5:01Speaker 2: Totally, totally.
- 5:03Speaker 1: This was directed by Jeff Beasley, who is on a
- 5:05Speaker 1: Hallmark movie directing tear. He directed movies recently like Love
- 5:10Speaker 1: Strikes Twice and A Kiss Before Christmas, which was the
- 5:13Speaker 1: Terry Hatcher movie. He had done a lot of TV producing,
- 5:16Speaker 1: but for the last few years he's just been TV movie,
- 5:19Speaker 1: TV movie, TV movie. He must work pretty much NonStop,
- 5:23Speaker 1: it seems like lately.
- 5:25Speaker 2: Wow, I was looking at the instagram of some of
- 5:28Speaker 2: the actors in this movie and I saw that they
- 5:31Speaker 2: had stayed at Sutton Place, which is a downtown Vancouver hotel.
- 5:38Speaker 2: And I'm going to reference something that probably only Megan knows,
- 5:41Speaker 2: But I was recently listening to the podcast Nobody's Listening
- 5:46Speaker 2: Right with Elizabeth and Andy, and she was she's a
- 5:50Speaker 2: she writes for that show A Million Little Lot, A
- 5:54Speaker 2: Million Little Lies. No, is that what it's called? What's
- 5:56Speaker 2: it called?
- 5:56Speaker 1: A Million Little Things?
- 5:58Speaker 2: That's it? Why did I think of million Little Lies?
- 6:01Speaker 2: Where did that come from? That's it. Anyway, she's a
- 6:04Speaker 2: writer on that show, and she recently went to Canada,
- 6:07Speaker 2: and she was telling the story that, like, if you're
- 6:10Speaker 2: in entertainment and you are going to Vancouver for work,
- 6:13Speaker 2: everybody stays at the Sutton. So I thought it was
- 6:16Speaker 2: pretty funny that I saw that these other actors in
- 6:20Speaker 2: a Hallmark movie were also staying at the Sutton. And hello,
- 6:23Speaker 2: if you're like a huge fan and you want to
- 6:25Speaker 2: go see some actors and some actresses go to the
- 6:28Speaker 2: Sutton Hotel in hevery good.
- 6:31Speaker 1: YEP, I bummed on that as well. And I wonder
- 6:34Speaker 1: if I've seen that mentioned in other news bits about
- 6:39Speaker 1: Hallmark movies and just not registered it because I hadn't.
- 6:42Speaker 1: Just recently heard that hotel mentioned on a podcast that
- 6:45Speaker 1: was like worlds colliding right there, totally totally. We talked
- 6:50Speaker 1: about Santino Fontana, one of the stars of this movie.
- 6:53Speaker 1: He plays Tony. He is the voice of Hans and Frozen.
- 6:56Speaker 1: Wendy knows him as the voice of Joe in the
- 6:59Speaker 1: audio book You but what I just learned he's also
- 7:03Speaker 1: a Tony Award winner.
- 7:05Speaker 2: Oh, I thought for sure you had known that I did,
- 7:08Speaker 2: don't you? Don't you? You're very much up on the
- 7:11Speaker 2: Tony Awards Broadway.
- 7:14Speaker 1: I mean, I enjoy a Broadway show, but I don't
- 7:18Speaker 1: have the names of the Tony Award winners memorized. But
- 7:21Speaker 1: he won for a role in TUTSI.
- 7:24Speaker 2: Yeah, that I saw closed in like February twenty twenty, right, Like,
- 7:31Speaker 2: I was like, I wonder why that closed? Uh, I
- 7:35Speaker 2: mean maybe it was at the end of the run.
- 7:37Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 7:38Speaker 1: I think it's too early for it to have been
- 7:40Speaker 1: COVID related.
- 7:41Speaker 2: Yeah, I think so.
- 7:42Speaker 1: Too.
- 7:43Speaker 2: Here's a side note. I was looking on IMDb and
- 7:46Speaker 2: there were a ton of comments that criticized his voice
- 7:50Speaker 2: for not being that good in this movie. And I
- 7:53Speaker 2: was like, what, this is a Tony Award winning actor. Yeah,
- 7:59Speaker 2: he's got the voice. Yeah, I thought he was great,
- 8:02Speaker 2: me too. Christa Rodriguez plays Mia. I learned that she
- 8:07Speaker 2: is a real life breast cancer survivor and was diagnosed
- 8:10Speaker 2: at thirty years old.
- 8:13Speaker 1: I did not know that.
- 8:14Speaker 2: Yeah. She was also No One for being in the
- 8:18Speaker 2: NBC show Smash with Catherine McPhee. Uh huh did you
- 8:21Speaker 2: watch that show?
- 8:22Speaker 1: I've seen a few episodes.
- 8:24Speaker 2: She was also on Broadway in a course line in
- 8:27Speaker 2: the Heights and The Adams Family. But she's an Orange
- 8:31Speaker 2: County girl born here in the city of Orange and
- 8:33Speaker 2: went to Osha High School, which is Orange County High
- 8:37Speaker 2: School of the Arts.
- 8:38Speaker 1: Yes, what fun information you found. I know.
- 8:43Speaker 2: See, I tried to dig a little deeper this week.
- 8:47Speaker 1: I'd like to say that Mattie Finocchio Girl's Gone Hamewark
- 8:50Speaker 1: fave is becoming the Where's Waldo of Hallmark movies?
- 8:54Speaker 2: Seriously, right, And I'm still telling you justice for Maddie
- 8:57Speaker 2: because the man needs a lead role in a movie.
- 9:01Speaker 1: One hundred percent agree take him out of the best
- 9:04Speaker 1: friend role, although I do think they are giving him
- 9:07Speaker 1: things to do beyond just like funny one liners. I
- 9:10Speaker 1: want him in a lead role.
- 9:13Speaker 2: I got one more tiny little news and note for you,
- 9:17Speaker 2: and I want to get your opinion. Ada Taturo and
- 9:21Speaker 2: Ileana Douglas, who played the mothers in this movie. Aida
- 9:26Speaker 2: is known for playing Janice on The Sopranos and she
- 9:31Speaker 2: I think she's Tony's sister on The Sopranos. And Iliana
- 9:35Speaker 2: she's got like a deep resume of TV shows and movies.
- 9:38Speaker 2: She's always like, I totally recognize her face from so
- 9:42Speaker 2: many things. But here's the thing. They are each fifty
- 9:46Speaker 2: nine and fifty six years old, okay, and they are
- 9:51Speaker 2: playing the roles of moms, like older moms who are
- 9:58Speaker 2: spoilover dead. Yeah.
- 10:01Speaker 1: I don't want to talk about that. But so you
- 10:06Speaker 1: think they're playing roles in which they're older than they
- 10:08Speaker 1: actually are.
- 10:09Speaker 2: Yeah, And it kind of bums me out because this
- 10:12Speaker 2: is again where these are actors with big resumes who
- 10:21Speaker 2: I feel like don't have a place in movies and
- 10:28Speaker 2: TV anymore except for these like super geriatric roles. You
- 10:32Speaker 2: know what I'm talking about.
- 10:33Speaker 1: Okay, But is it possible that the fifty nine year
- 10:35Speaker 1: old has a daughter has a twelve year old granddaughter?
- 10:38Speaker 1: I mean I think you know, if you have your
- 10:40Speaker 1: kids at twenty two and then you've got a thirty
- 10:45Speaker 1: something year old daughter who has a twelve year old,
- 10:48Speaker 1: I mean, I think it's I think it's possible. But yes,
- 10:52Speaker 1: I do think you are they're dead.
- 10:54Speaker 2: But they're dead.
- 10:55Speaker 1: They're dead. They are dead.
- 10:56Speaker 2: They didn't they didn't say, like, who knows, it could
- 10:59Speaker 2: have been early deaths whatever, you know what I mean.
- 11:02Speaker 2: But I don't think so. I think these are just
- 11:04Speaker 2: supposed to.
- 11:04Speaker 1: Be parents who have passed on, like they passed in
- 11:07Speaker 1: their sleep of old age.
- 11:09Speaker 2: Yeah, just old age. I don't know. I don't know.
- 11:11Speaker 2: I'm just weirded out by it. Like I give them
- 11:14Speaker 2: a second chance at love movie. They don't need to
- 11:16Speaker 2: be playing like a super old lady who's dead. Now sure, whatever,
- 11:22Speaker 2: that's my two cents on it.
- 11:24Speaker 1: I'll take it. Moving on, what's your first impression of
- 11:26Speaker 1: this movie?
- 11:28Speaker 2: My first impression is are you ready for it? I
- 11:31Speaker 2: am Brava?
- 11:37Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 11:39Speaker 2: What was yours?
- 11:41Speaker 1: Mine? Is this appears to be the year of the
- 11:42Speaker 1: Italian Grandma on Hallmark.
- 11:45Speaker 2: Oh. I have some thoughts about that or questions.
- 11:48Speaker 1: Mostly okay, so I want, because we just talked about
- 11:52Speaker 1: this to start with one like, and this isn't quite
- 11:57Speaker 1: the late in life second chance that loves. We're not
- 12:00Speaker 1: getting the love stories of the grandmothers in these movies,
- 12:05Speaker 1: but we aren't getting first love young love either.
- 12:09Speaker 2: Hm.
- 12:09Speaker 1: This is kind of a middle ground. They've both Mio
- 12:13Speaker 1: was married, she has a daughter, Tony had a long
- 12:17Speaker 1: term relationship. They're both well into adulthood. So we're getting
- 12:23Speaker 1: a mix. We're getting a mix of ages here. I'm
- 12:26Speaker 1: telling you somebody is listening to our podcast. I liked it.
- 12:30Speaker 2: We've been asking for it. I liked this movie a
- 12:35Speaker 2: lot because the dialogue was sharp, and I gotta give
- 12:38Speaker 2: that to Nina Weinman for writing a good movie. But
- 12:42Speaker 2: that it had a great cast and the music was
- 12:47Speaker 2: so like just made me happy to watch it. It
- 12:52Speaker 2: just made me so happy.
- 12:54Speaker 1: I was a little bit nervous about the music, knowing
- 12:57Speaker 1: that the songs were going to be in it, and
- 12:59Speaker 1: I loved the way they were woven throughout the movie.
- 13:03Speaker 1: We have you know, Nick performing in his little club,
- 13:07Speaker 1: and we have them in their dreams, and then him
- 13:10Speaker 1: singing at the old folks home, and then they have
- 13:13Speaker 1: a little bit of a moment where they sing together
- 13:16Speaker 1: on the roof. I thought they did such a nice shop.
- 13:19Speaker 1: I was a little bit worried that it was gonna
- 13:21Speaker 1: be like breaking into songs, singing in the rain style,
- 13:23Speaker 1: dancing down the sidewalk, and I'm glad we didn't have that.
- 13:26Speaker 2: Oh I like that.
- 13:28Speaker 1: I just think that's perhaps hard to execute well sometimes.
- 13:32Speaker 2: Sure, but let me say, like a Christmas waltz, did
- 13:35Speaker 2: it really well when they were dancing in the street. Yeah,
- 13:39Speaker 2: you know, in the city street or whatever like that
- 13:42Speaker 2: was one of my favorite scenes in one of my
- 13:44Speaker 2: favorite movies. So it can be done. But I but
- 13:48Speaker 2: I hear you like you were worried it was gonna
- 13:50Speaker 2: get like a little too cop rock. That's a real throwback.
- 13:55Speaker 1: I just didn't want it to feel like we were
- 13:57Speaker 1: in the middle of a staged musical, yeah, where they
- 14:01Speaker 1: all of a sudden start singing their feelings.
- 14:04Speaker 2: Okay, yeah, all right, all right.
- 14:08Speaker 1: I loved this line from Nick, who says, you walk
- 14:11Speaker 1: into the middle of someone's life, you can't expect them
- 14:13Speaker 1: not to have one. Mia is apologizing for Casey's presence
- 14:17Speaker 1: and how that complicates things, and I thought that was
- 14:21Speaker 1: such a great.
- 14:21Speaker 2: Line, isn't it. I mean, it's such a relatable line
- 14:26Speaker 2: that's yeah, it's so good. It's so good. And I
- 14:28Speaker 2: feel like that's kind of a wink and a nod to, like,
- 14:31Speaker 2: you know, typical Hallmark movies where like, you know, worlds
- 14:35Speaker 2: get turned upside down because people actually have lives before
- 14:38Speaker 2: they meet each other. Oh, you had an ex boyfriend?
- 14:41Speaker 2: Oh my god, you know.
- 14:43Speaker 1: Well, And speaking of a wink and a nod to
- 14:45Speaker 1: Hallmark movie, I feel the entire title and then the
- 14:48Speaker 1: running thought of how can you know that he's the
- 14:51Speaker 1: one after just one kiss was also kind of a
- 14:57Speaker 1: little bit of a nudge to Hallmark. We get the
- 14:59Speaker 1: kiss at the end everyone lives happily ever after, and
- 15:03Speaker 1: I liked that.
- 15:04Speaker 2: I agree. I don't know if you've noticed, but the
- 15:07Speaker 2: interior apartments were super cool in this movie, Yes, totally
- 15:12Speaker 2: different and contemporary compared to what we've seen on typical sets.
- 15:19Speaker 2: I liked it. I mean, I don't think she's getting
- 15:21Speaker 2: an apartment for that price, though not in New York city.
- 15:24Speaker 1: As a professor. No, I don't think so. But I
- 15:26Speaker 1: love her apartment. I loved. I thought it was great.
- 15:30Speaker 2: And there were so many like shots of the New
- 15:32Speaker 2: York skyline, and I freaking love New York. So I
- 15:35Speaker 2: was just like, I want to go back. I want
- 15:37Speaker 2: to go back. I love it there. It was so pretty.
- 15:42Speaker 1: I have one more small like before we get to
- 15:43Speaker 1: a big thing that I want to talk about. And
- 15:45Speaker 1: they liked Uncle Harry and his can't get enough Gaga.
- 15:48Speaker 1: I just thought he was fun. That's what I'm.
- 15:50Speaker 2: Talking about, those lines being like good, Yeah, I really
- 15:54Speaker 2: liked it.
- 15:54Speaker 1: Would you like to talk about the twist?
- 15:57Speaker 2: Well, sure, we.
- 15:59Speaker 1: Can say that. Do you have in a better spot?
- 16:01Speaker 2: No? I have it in a like spot. Actually me too.
- 16:04Speaker 2: I didn't see it coming. Okay, was I not paying
- 16:07Speaker 2: attention closely?
- 16:09Speaker 1: I didn't see it coming either. However, as I'm watching
- 16:13Speaker 1: sometimes I'm also doing a little research on the movie
- 16:16Speaker 1: while it's playing, and I'm looking at the IMDb page
- 16:20Speaker 1: and there's a synopsis I believe, and it says something
- 16:25Speaker 1: about spirits and it names the mothers, and I thought,
- 16:30Speaker 1: oh wait, and then I didn't I use it. So
- 16:35Speaker 1: I didn't continue reading that, and then I start watching
- 16:38Speaker 1: it and I go, wait a minute. That answers so
- 16:41Speaker 1: many questions, like how come they didn't see them when
- 16:43Speaker 1: they were in the club, and how come they nobody
- 16:46Speaker 1: heard them talking at normal voices when they're in the
- 16:49Speaker 1: movie theater. And then I rewound because there's only one
- 16:54Speaker 1: scene where I believe MIA's mother is in the scene
- 16:59Speaker 1: with her, and that's when they're looking at the apartment.
- 17:02Speaker 2: Uh huh oh yeah.
- 17:05Speaker 1: Watched it, and they never speak to each other. Mia
- 17:08Speaker 1: echoes a lot of her mom's thoughts. Her mom's like, look,
- 17:12Speaker 1: you can see the Brooklyn Bridge and Mia goes, wow,
- 17:14Speaker 1: look at that view. So it feels like they're bantering,
- 17:17Speaker 1: but there they never interact. They never look at each other.
- 17:21Speaker 1: And I did not see it coming either, is what
- 17:26Speaker 1: I'm saying. But as soon as I realized it, then
- 17:28Speaker 1: I watched the rest of that movie through that eye.
- 17:32Speaker 2: Well that was a real sixth sense moment there when
- 17:34Speaker 2: they were in the apartment together. Nice, Yeah, how funny.
- 17:38Speaker 2: I didn't And now that you mentioned it, yeah, wow.
- 17:42Speaker 2: Like I said, I didn't see it coming, and I
- 17:43Speaker 2: got super choked up when they like off together, like
- 17:49Speaker 2: the two moms went off together because their job was done,
- 17:52Speaker 2: and then like Mia and Tony have like a moment
- 17:55Speaker 2: about like wishing that their moms were there, and.
- 17:57Speaker 1: I was like, oh my god.
- 17:59Speaker 2: I thought it was so good.
- 18:02Speaker 1: Yeah, I thought it was great. It was really well done.
- 18:05Speaker 1: It did not even looking back, it doesn't feel cheesy.
- 18:08Speaker 1: I thought they were really funny. I liked how they
- 18:12Speaker 1: both talked up their own kids, but then when it
- 18:15Speaker 1: came to the other ones, they were like, yeah, he's
- 18:16Speaker 1: all right.
- 18:18Speaker 2: Yeah, So then let's move on to what did you
- 18:22Speaker 2: wish for from just one kiss?
- 18:24Speaker 1: My wish is more of a complaint, okay, And I
- 18:30Speaker 1: guess I can frame it in the form of a wish,
- 18:32Speaker 1: and it is I wish the casey didn't suck so much.
- 18:35Speaker 2: That's the ex husband. Yes, okay, so I have something similar.
- 18:41Speaker 2: I wrote less stockery estranged husband and he was a nightmare,
- 18:47Speaker 2: like go away, dude, Like, I know he's dealing with
- 18:50Speaker 2: a bunch of stuff and he didn't want their relationship
- 18:52Speaker 2: to the end, But UH have some boundaries, like you
- 18:57Speaker 2: are a nightmare.
- 18:59Speaker 1: She's divorcing you. She's told you over and over again
- 19:02Speaker 1: that she's done and that she does not trust you,
- 19:05Speaker 1: and you, even if you're holding out hope that you
- 19:09Speaker 1: might someday get back together, this is not the way
- 19:12Speaker 1: to do it.
- 19:13Speaker 2: Yeah. He was a nightmare, like showing up on our
- 19:15Speaker 2: doorstep and like yeah, yeah, nope, and then like kind
- 19:19Speaker 2: of like badgering Tony a little bit when they were
- 19:23Speaker 2: in her kitchen.
- 19:25Speaker 1: Oh a lot when he shows up when he brings
- 19:28Speaker 1: the daughter home and Mia has to leave the room
- 19:30Speaker 1: and he's like, I don't know what you're doing here,
- 19:32Speaker 1: and oh, yeah, he's a jerk.
- 19:35Speaker 2: Yeah. I didn't like him at all.
- 19:39Speaker 1: Did you wish I had one?
- 19:41Speaker 2: And I wonder if it's just me or maybe this
- 19:47Speaker 2: goes back to the IMDb reviews about Santino Fontana's voice.
- 19:52Speaker 2: I thought the sound might have been off just a
- 19:55Speaker 2: little bit because when he's singing, like in the lounge scenes,
- 19:59Speaker 2: he was very loud, like almost shouting loud a little bit,
- 20:06Speaker 2: and I just thought, is maybe his voice is like
- 20:08Speaker 2: too loud for the music playing and that didn't translate
- 20:12Speaker 2: well over TV. I don't know, it could have just
- 20:15Speaker 2: been a personal thing. I have to play my TV
- 20:17Speaker 2: really loud, because especially this one, I didn't have subtitles
- 20:20Speaker 2: on it, so I got it. You know, I gotta
- 20:23Speaker 2: can't miss anything. So it was loud on my end.
- 20:27Speaker 1: Hmm, I did not notice that. Okay, it's time for
- 20:30Speaker 1: did you see that. I have a couple of things
- 20:34Speaker 1: to say.
- 20:34Speaker 2: Okay, I'm excited.
- 20:36Speaker 1: First, uhuh, Nick and Mi are in a bar and
- 20:40Speaker 1: a fan comes up to Nick and tells him how
- 20:45Speaker 1: her music just changed her life. And then she says,
- 20:49Speaker 1: can I get a picture for my blog? What?
- 20:52Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 20:54Speaker 1: Can we not say Instagram?
- 20:56Speaker 2: Is that? Oh? Maybe they can't say instagram, but she
- 21:00Speaker 2: could have said for my social media, you know, just
- 21:04Speaker 2: can I.
- 21:04Speaker 1: Get a picture? Everyone knows what the pictures for? But
- 21:07Speaker 1: can I get a picture for my blog? Not saying
- 21:09Speaker 1: blogs don't exist? I just feel like that reference is
- 21:12Speaker 1: maybe ten years too late.
- 21:14Speaker 2: Yeah, because we did.
- 21:16Speaker 1: Not blogging our daily lives anymore.
- 21:19Speaker 2: Did it feel like a personal attack a little bit?
- 21:22Speaker 2: Because you know, we have a blog it's at back
- 21:24Speaker 2: and we do.
- 21:26Speaker 1: Megan and Wendy dot com. We do have a blog,
- 21:29Speaker 1: but I'm not blogging like and today I'm at Joe. No.
- 21:35Speaker 1: I thought I thought it was odd. Go ahead.
- 21:41Speaker 2: I only had one little win, and we talked about it.
- 21:43Speaker 2: You mentioned it hit on it just quickly. But I
- 21:46Speaker 2: was wondering why the why the moms were talking so
- 21:50Speaker 2: loudly in the movie theater when everybody else got shushed.
- 21:54Speaker 2: You know, I was like, why why are they Why
- 21:57Speaker 2: are they allowed to like shout out each weren't shouting,
- 22:00Speaker 2: but you know they weren't watching the movie. But now
- 22:03Speaker 2: I know in the end that you know, we were
- 22:06Speaker 2: not there.
- 22:07Speaker 1: Really, looking back, it feels very obvious because they she
- 22:13Speaker 1: moves into a new apartment, her mom doesn't come. They
- 22:15Speaker 1: were across the street all the time. They're in the bar,
- 22:18Speaker 1: and they never noticed. They're in the bar twice and
- 22:21Speaker 1: one time they're so close to them. This is when
- 22:23Speaker 1: I already knew what was happening. But I was like, Okay,
- 22:27Speaker 1: it feels like they're like, hello, you haven't hear how
- 22:31Speaker 1: what's going on? At this point? We cannot make it
- 22:33Speaker 1: any more obvious to you. Yeah, But that said, I
- 22:38Speaker 1: would not have guessed it if I had not seen
- 22:40Speaker 1: it written Two Things one and this nixt dream. He
- 22:46Speaker 1: has two dreams about Mia, and then the second one
- 22:50Speaker 1: it's kind of a nightmare because Casey comes and steals
- 22:52Speaker 1: her away, but you hear her singing, and you see
- 22:55Speaker 1: her singing, but what she is singing is not what
- 22:58Speaker 1: we hear.
- 23:00Speaker 2: Oh, I didn't notice.
- 23:01Speaker 1: And I don't know if that was because things were
- 23:04Speaker 1: starting to go wrong, so what he was hearing was
- 23:07Speaker 1: not what was happening. I don't know if that was
- 23:09Speaker 1: intentional or if they just dubbed the music incorrectly. But
- 23:14Speaker 1: it's very clear that she's not singing whatever it is
- 23:17Speaker 1: you're hearing.
- 23:18Speaker 2: Ah. Interesting.
- 23:20Speaker 1: The last one is just a funny little one. Casey
- 23:24Speaker 1: is cooking in MEA's kitchen and I don't even remember
- 23:26Speaker 1: what he's making, veal something.
- 23:29Speaker 2: Oh, yes, he was making veal parmesan or something like that. Yes,
- 23:32Speaker 2: I remember, uh huh.
- 23:33Speaker 1: He has a towel over his shoulder. Did you notice
- 23:36Speaker 1: that's the towel I have hanging in my kitchen? No,
- 23:39Speaker 1: I did it, I did it. It's it's my little
- 23:42Speaker 1: gray Home Goods toohol that I love so much.
- 23:45Speaker 2: Oh, the set decorators or shop at home Goods.
- 23:47Speaker 1: You know. I was like, I have that dowel.
- 23:49Speaker 2: Oh too funny. Okay, I just want to ask you
- 23:52Speaker 2: quickly about the Italian Grandmas. That's what you talked about
- 23:55Speaker 2: at the very beginning your first impression. Do you remember
- 23:59Speaker 2: we had a and a writer and her who mentioned
- 24:03Speaker 2: that she was a little bit offended by like the
- 24:09Speaker 2: bad Italian stereotypes. Yes, so I really I hope that
- 24:16Speaker 2: she's listening, and I hope she writes into the show
- 24:18Speaker 2: because I'm really curious about what her opinions are on
- 24:23Speaker 2: this movie and then also the other movie that we're
- 24:27Speaker 2: going to review. Amore, Yes, what her thoughts are there.
- 24:35Speaker 1: I do remember exactly what we're talking about. I think
- 24:40Speaker 1: that in this movie they play up the stereotypes more
- 24:43Speaker 1: than they do and always, Amore, I'm just curious.
- 24:47Speaker 2: I'm curious. So if you're listening, please email us.
- 24:50Speaker 1: Indeed, are you ready to rate this movie?
- 24:54Speaker 2: Yes? Are we doing this new thing where we say
- 24:55Speaker 2: it at the same time again? Oh? Oh, okay, okay, three, two, one,
- 25:01Speaker 2: four and a half stars? Oh for real? Five stars? Huh?
- 25:07Speaker 1: Actually I had four and a half in my head,
- 25:09Speaker 1: but I was like, that's gonna be hard to say
- 25:11Speaker 1: at the same time. Oh God, you're so weird. I
- 25:15Speaker 1: thought it was a great movie. It was it perfect,
- 25:17Speaker 1: maybe not, but it's definitely a four and a half
- 25:19Speaker 1: five star great Hallmark movie for me.
- 25:23Speaker 2: Me too. Like I said, Brava, that was good. It
- 25:28Speaker 2: was real good.
