- Mike: What is up everybody and welcome back to Brozen Birds. We're back for another week. And I'm gonna say something right off the bat. The birds are 2-0. Was it pretty? Fuck no. it comfortable? No. you what? We did it. We did spend a good portion of Sunday afternoon wondering how the hell the Eagles were letting Tennessee Titans hang around. Yes, we absolutely did do that, but we fucking won. Risi: Who Jamal Smith: Woo! Mike: And we won with a great comeback. when the game was on the line, Jalen took the damn game over. he's proven me wrong. ⁓ I know if we saw if I expected it. Well, I mean we all knew we could do it, but ⁓ we to it. But we got I'm here, Paul's here, Jamal's here, Chris is here, Joe's on vacation once again. we're super happy for you, Joe, for being on vacation. But I I think you got some work you need to do when you get back because I'm tired of putting these show notes together. So quick check in. Paul Eaton: Wow. Risi: Yeah, which is I would think the whole thing. Mike: Before we get into the football, let's go around table and see how everybody's doing, how everybody's feeling about last week and you know, where you currently sit. ⁓ Paul, what's going on, buddy? Paul Eaton: I'm encouraged. two weeks. Jalen to be the driver. Usually he's the passenger, according to all the haters out there. But he's he's carried this team on his back for two straight weeks. The defense is concerning. Maybe it was the heat. People's cleats was melting off their Maybe it was that. But overall, just a great by QB one. And he's making me proud to have his back all this time. Mike: I see a little tear coming out his eye. Paul Eaton: Hey man, listen, love that guy. Mike: Mom, what's going on you? Jamal Smith: Not much man. I recently had to put my cardiologist on ⁓ retainer because these ⁓ In-Person: you you Mike: I got sad I got the first first I thought you were getting s I was like wait what? I was like what Jamal Smith: No, man, I'm talking about these damn games. Look, great entertainment, but every single week I feel like I'm gonna have a fucking coronary. It's it's a lot. ⁓ on the edge of my seat is cool, but maybe next week it'll be less like that. other thing I gotta say is when the Kelly Green dropped, I took a chance and I bought Jalen Hurts jersey, even though I wasn't a hundred percent positive he was going to be the guy I hoped he could be. ⁓ paid it off with the Super Bowl and I doubled down and bought Another Jalen Hurts jersey in Midnight Green. And from what I've seen so far, I'm starting to feel like it was the right decision. Mike: ⁓ it started to pay off. Chris, what's going on, sir? Paul Eaton: Yeah. Risi: know what my favorite part about this game? I texted in the group chat, it was, you know, locked in, right? You kind of sit up in your chair, you're you know, like this is starting to get a little serious. And and they pulled it out. And I what I loved was it wasn't like the coaching staff was fighting us. It felt like things were kind of aligning and it was up to the players to win the game finally. We've had so many seasons, so many games where I feel like ⁓ side's fighting the other. There wasn't There wasn't this connection and it at the end of the day it was up to the players in the field to win the game. And QB won, if we don't have him, we don't win this game. So like it was just a thing of beauty. It didn't it should have been easier, but it's football. It's the NFL. So to me this was super promising just because it just felt like things were clicking on on the background, even though they weren't firing all cylinders, but it was up to the players to win the game and they did it. So I I'm I i this was fantastic. Locked in. Mike: Yeah. before we roll into it, you guys know the drill. Every Tuesday night, ⁓ nine AM on Riverside dot FM. All right, let's get into it. In-Person: you you Mike: ⁓ let's talk about Sunday. The Eagles beat the Titans 24-20, and I'm not going to act like it was some sort of masterpiece. There are plenty of things that need to get cleaned up, but there was something about the way this game ended that we did all like. Because we've heard the same criticism of Jalen over and over again. We all know what we're talking about. He's a running back playing quarterback. He can't win games in the pocket, make him throw the ball. Well, we heard that from the Titans before we played them, the Titans literally tried to do that. Risi: Hold on, hold on. Before you go little further, I want Joe to listen into this segment here. Cause he has spent years ragging, ragging Jalen Hurts. He's come around, it took him a bit, but like, just play that clip over again, Joe, on your vacation, on your nice flight back home. Cause all that criticism, Joe was the king of that for a long time. Ha! Ha ha. Mike: Yeah. I mean like I said, the Titans literally tried to do that. defensive tackle Jeffrey Simmons talked for the game about making Hertz play quarterback. and when we needed a quarterback, well, Jalen Hurt and Hertz definitely played quarterback. Eagles got ball back with a minute fifty-six left, trailing twenty to seventeen with no timeouts, and Hertz went six for eight, sixty-one yards, and a game-winning touchdown drive. Nine plays, sixty-five yards, and it ended ⁓ with a pass with nine seconds left. To the one and only Darius Cooper. Jamal Smith: would have saw that coming? ⁓ Paul Eaton: Who if it wasn't for Mikhail Lemon would be a starting he would be starting for us. Mike: Yeah. But let's emphasize the bigger, most important part of all of this. Hertz didn't run down the field in those plays. He did once. His arm did a job. He hit Devontae Wicks for 20 yards, then Devontae Smith for 19 yards down to the three yard line. And then he found Cooper in the end zone for the touchdown. That is the epitome of a quarterback running and leading a two minute drill. That's a quarterback making throws under pressure. It's a quarterback putting his team in position to win. In-Person: you you Mike: So for everybody including myself, who spent the off season telling us Jalen Hurts can't win gains of his arms, I think he just did a really good job. Paul Eaton: And one important factor that I want to add in, he also had, didn't have a diva receiver worried about if he was going to be a part of the game-winning drive. He spread that pill around. Jalen is feeling comfortable that he doesn't have to worry about AJ anymore. that pill around. Everybody gets love and everybody goes on one accord, one team. Risi: Ha ha. Paul Eaton: I I love it. I love it. Mike: U yeah, I mean, 'cause he was all right. We can't say he was perfect, right? He did he finished he finished twenty six for thirty seven, two hundred sixty four yards. He had two touchdowns. He had a really ugly interception at the beginning of the game. That first interception was ugly. The second one, I'll give him a little bit of a pass because he did get he got hit at first. I I wanted to murder him, ⁓ because Smith was wide open, but then when he showed the replay, he he he did get hit. running game. Paul Eaton: No, absolutely not. Jamal Smith: It was. Paul Eaton: He got hit. Okay. Mike: Wasn't good. We had Saquon go down in like the third play of the game, fourth offensive play game. It was really early. Saquon went down. But and this is something I want to talk about with you guys. I've then we had Tank and Shipley kind of take over. And I thought the running game looked really good with the two of them sharing the backfield. Paul Eaton: Shipley. Risi: Yeah, I I don't know what that is though. Like they time they come in, they always look good. Is it that they're good? ⁓ I every time Tank comes in, he's like six yards, ten yards. Mike: So yeah, yeah. So so so I it's funny 'cause I was just getting my hair cut and the guy who cuts my hair, we all know him, but he said something about if like and we just said it. It looked good to not have a diva wide receiver out there because when we did, it kind of felt like we forced him the ball. And I said, I'm gonna say something really controversial and I'm gonna bring up tonight and I'm gonna let you guys like w let me know what you think. I feel the offense for two s last year and going into two games now. In-Person: you you Jamal Smith: Mm-hmm. Mike: Run better with Saquon not in the game. When he came in, it looked as if they tried to force him the ball like they did with AJ Brown. I think the system under Patullah last year and even this year is designed for runs up the middle. And that is not Saquon's not, and I'm not knocking Saquon. I don't want to knock Saquon, but I don't think that's his bread and butter. Him to the outside, he could be more elusive. Straight up the middle isn't always his game. And I think those two backs are more suited to that than Saquon is. Jamal Smith: Definitely have thoughts on this. ⁓ you know, I was talking to quite a few people about this at work and just out and about after watching the game. I honestly believe the issue is Saquon is like a patient wait for things to develop type runner. it's very effective when you have a strong offensive line who can make things develop a little bit later in the play, like before he would kind of stutter step and tiptoe and then hit the hole. It didn't seem like a long time, but it was a couple of couple of milliseconds he'd be losing. In order to wait for those big brolic monster linemen who are controlling everything to set that shit up perfectly. That's not happening. That's absolutely not happening. With this line, you get like a split second of a hole. And I notice that Tank Bigsby wastes no time. Shipley wastes no damn time. They just go. They're not looking for twenty or thirty or forty or fifty five. They're just looking for whatever the fuck they can get. has to switch his mentality if he wants to be successful behind this line. It's not going to work with all that dance and shit. They don't have that skill level anymore. Yeah, that's my opinion. Risi: I I think it's a fair take. That I that I agree with. That makes way more sense as in you're gonna more effective when he has the right line. You can say that about anybody, but he's got the explosiveness. But you gotta take what you get what you're given. And this O line's not given that kind of space. So i ⁓ I agree with that. Cause Tank just man, ⁓ know, my favorite thing is he just he carries the pile with him too. He does not care. He's like a warthog. ⁓ In-Person: you you Mike: Yeah. Paul Eaton: He runs hard. He does run hard. Jamal Smith: Full speed, full fucking speed ahead every time. Mike: And Paul Eaton: And to big to just piggyback off of what Mike was saying, ⁓ So do you think it is the offensive line is Tank and Shipley giving them that spark because they're hungrier? I don't know. Mike: I I I I think it's multiple things. I am a little worried about the comment what I said about feeding him the ball because he's out there. I mean, we you you you said something very similar at the beginning of this. You said that Cooper would be a starter if it wasn't for Lemon. Well, why is Lemon the starter? Because he's rookie, he he was drafted first round, they gotta give him money. And I think they feel the same way about a lot of their players. And I think Saquon, as soon as he comes in, they're like, he gets paid a lot of money, feed him the ball, let him work. I and and and Jamal Smith: Mm-hmm. Paul Eaton: Mm-hmm. Number one, yep. Yes. Mike: Not saying it shouldn't be like that or should be like that. I think Saquon's a great player. But I think when its scheme isn't working towards him, we gotta be able to pull him out and put somebody else in and not just keep trying to push him and push him and push him. Risi: Yeah. But but I'll say this though, like if we just take a step back, Tank had thirteen carries for thirty three yards. So it's not like he had this fantastic game either. Like the O-line is still an issue, right? I mean, like that's our number one issue on on the offense. I do think though there's a better balance to be had because there's sometimes I I think, you know, my I I think Jamal's like, you sunk that in my head now. I think that that makes total sense when that O line just needs to You just gotta hit the hole and go. But Sequan's better though. Come on. I mean, if that guy gets a little bit of space, he's explosive. I I I I I s I don't think we're worse. Mike: Mm-hmm. Yeah. In-Person: you you Paul Eaton: But does he does he is he dancing too much at while Tank and Shipley are just the hole? Risi: Yeah, I mean but again, carries, thirty-three yards for tank. Will was seven carries or twenty-four yards. So it's like I hear it, but the numbers aren't there to kind of back it up all the way. Mike: Yeah, all right, but but take that a step further. I and I I don't not at least skill level for sk skill level for skill level, Saquon Barkley is definitely the better right. But let's look at games played, right? They both played they all played two games. Saquon has 19 carries for ninety two yor yards. Tank has fourteen for thirty six. Like I mean, yes, he played more the second game than Saquon did. Well, not really, because he only played the first half, right? Tank played the first half, Saquon was back for the whole second half. Paul Eaton: Yeah, we're not bad s yeah. Of course. Of course. Risi: ⁓ yeah. A hundred percent. Jamal Smith: Yeah. Wow, yeah. Paul Eaton: Yeah, we need more tank. Mike: Yeah. Jamal Smith: But you know what you know what seems to happen a lot less with Bixby and even to a certain level Shipley? They're not getting hit like behind the line of scrimmage. So they might only get two or three yards, but it feels good to see them get across the fucking line of scrimmage. Mike: Yes. Risi: Yeah. Yeah, 'cause they're not they're not getting hit. They're hit team. Mike: Ye i and maybe that's what is. Maybe it's the visual of that for me where it's like I'm kinda like something just looks different. I agree with you. When you look at yardage and stuff like that, yeah, 14 for 36, 19 for 92, Will's nine for 28, Will's averaging 3.1, Tank 2.6, and Saquon 4.8. Like they're all within the realm of each other, but it's just something, and I think that's what it is. When they hit the line, they seem to be going forward or not getting hit behind it. Jamal Smith: Well look, ⁓ we're we're all we've been watching football a long time and I think there's something about like the smash mouth gridiron type shit. What Saquon does is wonderful when it works, but when it doesn't, it deflates the offense. But even when they get two or three, if they're punching people in the face while they're doing it, you're keeping the team energized. There's something special about that. Mike: Yeah. And I think for me I'm not saying less Saquon. I'm not saying I don't want Saquon in the game, but I think the maybe you have him and Tank work maybe sixty, forty, seventy, thirty, I don't know what it is. But I want to see a little bit more tank. When Saquon's in the game. In-Person: you you Paul Eaton: You know how Deuce yeah, when Deuce was our running backs coach, they had a nice rotation. That's what I would like to see with the three backs that we have. A nice rotation. Forget the money. Again, it should be a team sport. let's let's spread the wealth around because there's some hungry young cats that want to get in the game and prove themselves. Mike: Yes. Risi: Well, i in in in Emakai Limit, man, I I if we throw one more screen to this kid, I th we're gonna kill this kid. Mike: Dude. Exactly. And the poor kid, he seems like he is like like like he hot like no catches, or he has one catch for like negative yards. But gives hustle when he's out there. He's the one who ran down the interception, the first interception. He caught he caught the guy and forced him to go in to get tackled. Like the dude's out there doing his thing, but he can't call up these horrible fucking plays for him. That that screen, man. Jesus, stop. Speak. Jamal Smith: Horrible. ⁓ Paul Eaton: What are the worst? Risi: It's gotta go. It's gotta go. Jamal Smith: It's gotta go. It's gotta go. Mike: Speaking of wide receivers, ⁓ we can't talk about a great day. We can't talk about the final drive unless we talk about Damon Day Smith. Ten catches, 117 yards, a touchdown, and on the final drive came up huge. Nineteen yard catch to get them down to the three yard line was ridiculous. Paul Eaton: Peace. Jamal Smith: Ooh. Paul Eaton: The catch how he gets his feet in constantly. It's just he's a rubber band out there, man. He's Mike: I mean, we've been asking, is he gonna be wide receiver one? Like, there is no doubt. Like, this kid is unbelievable. He's the most at he's the most athletic wide receiver we've ever had. Risi: Course. I'm a petty man. And I want to send I want to send this game in a nice care package to AJ Brown. Like, wish you were here. Kind of. Like this, this was ⁓ was wide receiver one material from start to finish. And he's just Devontae It was incredible. This whole game, I was like, man, this guy is just a leader. And I'm so happy AJ Brown's not here. Like, that's the whole the whole game. I thought I thought about. Jamal Smith: Uh-huh. In-Person: you you Paul Eaton: Do you think do you think do you think AJ sent a text out to the to the guys saying, Good job, good game? Risi: No, no. I hope we did and I Jamal Smith: Absolutely not. Mike: ⁓ w I I alright, I think I would normally say no, but since he's home hurt and he can't play, I think he did. I mean Yeah. job guys. I was watching. Paul Eaton: Yeah. Yeah. You think you think he did? You think he did? Jamal Smith: You think he might have yeah, you think he might a ⁓ Risi: I mi I miss you guys. Paul Eaton: was open. I was open. Mike: Yeah. I was a hope fish. Jamal Smith: I mean, it it's really crazy and I'm absolutely ecstatic that Smith is starting to eat because you know there was a lot of hate. I don't I can't call it hate, but there was a lot of unsureness, uncertainty. Devontae Smith is one of my favorite players, not only because of his last name, but also because ever since he's got to the league, I mean, he's just like a student of the game. ⁓ This guy perfect routes. Paul Eaton: Yeah. Mike: Uncertainty, yeah. Jamal Smith: He puts it all out there. He looks like he weighs 137 pounds, and he'll get smashed, get up like it's nothing. love the way he plays football. He's a true leader by actions, and I'm assuming probably by words also. It's just great to see him get his. there's nothing I could have wanted more out of Devontae than to see him just dominate that last drive and really be the star of it. Paul Eaton: Yeah. And it looks like Jalen and Wicks have a good chemistry going too. Risi: Yeah. Jamal Smith: Whoo. Yeah, they do. Mike: Yeah, yeah, the before I do that has anyb have ha has anybody gone and seen all of the Devontae Smith's as a as a high school kid tweets that have been resurfacing? No, they're fucking great. I'm not that is not a ⁓ they're great. They hold on, I'll share this. This is my favorite one. I think this is Jamal Smith: No. Paul Eaton: No. When did they resurface? Like what was the reason for them coming up? Mike: Like like recently. I people well, 'cause people have been putting them on like other things like as his clap back for, you know, not being called a one. But they they they're actually from when he was a kid. People were saying they were from when he was, you know, recently. ⁓ but yes, this is d this is fantastic. In-Person: you you Jamal Smith: Look at him. Mike: This is fantastic. the other one is where is the other one? I don't know where it's at. But that I thought that was great. I thought that was great. Stop sharing. All right. Jamal Smith: Yo, where did the hate come from? I mean, not the hate. Where like, I don't get it. This dude won the fucking Heisman and since he's been in the NFL, he's done nothing but deliver. Has he had less than a thousand yard season? Maybe the first season? Maybe? Mike: His eyes. His first season was a little ⁓ it wasn't amazing, but like it was also a really bad team. He was the best w he was the best wide receiver on the team when he was right out of high college. Paul Eaton: Jamal, I don't know if it's hate towards him or is it because haters, the haters think that Jalen's not good enough to get in the ball? I really don't see a lot of just ⁓ Devontae Smith hate because people love that guy. They know he what he brings to the table. ⁓ I think Jalen, in a ⁓ weird of way, the hate they have for him. Risi: That's it. Jamal Smith: Okay, that's fair. Paul Eaton: makes people think that he's not capable of being a number one since AJ's gone. I don't know. Jamal Smith: Yeah. Risi: Mm-hmm. Jamal Smith: Just like bled over. That's fair. No, that that's fair. That's fair. Paul Eaton: Just my thoughts. Mike: Couple things I want to mention before we get onto the bro and a bird and bro and a donkeys. we literally took over that stadium. It is amazing that our star defensive tackle was booed as he came out of the tunnel in his own stadium. ⁓ tickets tickets were going for fifteen dollars in the upper level, so yeah, they were that cheap. yeah. Yeah, exactly. Jamal Smith: Craziness. Risi: Fucking amazing. ⁓ really? They were that cheap? Jamal Smith: Wow. Risi: Should have went. Mike: ⁓ thought I was gonna go to England, but you know, that's not happening. We know why. So all right. let's go around. Let's do our Brona Burbrona donkey section. ⁓ Paul, who do you got? Jamal Smith: Nah. Risi: Mm-hmm. In-Person: you you Paul Eaton: Go to somebody else. I haven't I got came up sh came up short on now, but go to someone else. Mike: Jim Jamal, what do you got? Jamal Smith: Well I think it's obvious who my bro and a bird is. I just finished ⁓ talking all that wonderful shit about him. Devontae Smith, Broona Bird. Mike: Who's your do who's your donkey? Jamal Smith: I ⁓ the donkey. You know what? I'm gonna say, wow, I I I can't believe I'm having like a brain fart. Not Jalen Carter. Not Jalen Carter. ⁓ big man. Jesus Christ. Jordan Davis, I'm gonna make him Rona Donkey. And that feels unfair, except. Mike: This is the tough one. Jordan Davis? Jamal Smith: He just got a lot of money, man. ⁓ I needed to see a little more. Yo, they were running all over us for who they were. And I don't like to see that. It felt like I I felt like if it wasn't for Jalen Carter kind of stepping it up towards the end, I would I might have named him. And it's it's a little unfair because I'm grading him on a fucking curb. But nah, man, Jordan Davis, you gotta show up, bro. I haven't heard your name once. Not since last season. He he had a decent game, but he's not Paul Eaton: Yeah. Risi: Ha ha ha. Mike: We had a good c first game. He he Jamal Smith: I wanna see a little bit more. And again, maybe it's unfair. I see the guy, he explod Davis, Davis, Davis, yeah, Jordan Davis. Yeah, I just I just wanna see him make some big plays. I I wanna see his name in the fucking marquee. ⁓ and maybe it's because of how often he seemed to make it into the storyline last season. Maybe that's why I just expect a little bit more. Paul Eaton: Carter or Davis is your guy. Okay. Mike: Davis. He's saying Davis. Chris, what do you got? Risi: ⁓ I got options here. On my bro on a bird this week. What I'm gonna go with, I'm gonna go tying to the beginning of ⁓ part where it was just fun to watch the team have a chance to win. I'm gonna go with Sean Mannion on my bro on a bird this week. Thought the play calling was good all around. Paul Eaton: Mm. In-Person: you you Mike: I wish I had the picture, but somebody did it. ⁓ one of the Philly ⁓ sports media guys put up Manion's ⁓ route tree for Devontae Smith this game versus ⁓ Spitullah's for ⁓ yeah. And it was like, ⁓ my god, this is amazing. Like it made you clearly think that Patula might have ⁓ some kind of mental handicap. Risi: Yes. Jamal Smith: Ha ha ha. Risi: Just straight. ⁓ Yeah, so I that was my bro on a bird. My bro on a donkey this week. I don't have I'm not picking an Eagle. ⁓ I'm gonna go with a controversial one. I'm gonna go with Caleb Williams for for for I'll be back. Jamal Smith: Ha ha ha ha! Paul Eaton: Ruining my s ru ruining ruining my fantasy squad this week? Risi: Yeah, my man is week to week with an injury and he is crying his eye out, pounding the fist. Come on, bro. Kid I mean God man, that guy Come on, man. Come on, man. Come on. Mike: Somebody did a s somebody did a a reenactment. Jamal Smith: A grade one a grade one cap strain. Paul Eaton: Lot of memes. Yeah, a lot of memes out there for Caleb. A lot of memes out there. Mike: Somebody did a reenactment of ⁓ Aaron Rodgers ⁓ tearing his AC ⁓ his Achilles and like getting up and kind of trying to walk off the field on his own. And then they did Caleb Williams bruising his AC brewing his bruising his ACL. And then they had to drag him across the field. Risi: Yeah. Yeah. Breaking his nails. Jamal Smith: Bruh. Paul Eaton: No. Risi: I wanna root for that kid but he just I mean, come on, week to weak injury, a week and they're the people are defending him left and right, which is like I don't Mike: That was bad, man, that was so bad. We're well we're gonna get into that 'cause I wanna talk about that and and I wanna talk about the the the on screen dynamic of his injury and Jackson Dart and Jaden Daniels. There's some things there that are going on the media that I wanna talk about. ⁓ Paul, come on, I'm going back to you. Risi: All right. ⁓ Jaden Dalian. Jamal Smith: Ooh. Paul Eaton: ⁓ I'm good. I'm good. ⁓ Jake Elliott. It looks he's my bro and a bird. Jamal Smith: I like that. Paul Eaton: It looks like he's look like he's locked in again. It looks like he's back for another year. He looks solid. He hit a fifty-eight yarder in that heat y ⁓ Sunday. So he's my bro. Mike: Okay. Your donkey? Paul Eaton: Let's go. I don't want to do it, but Howie. You drafted how Howie Grossman. Mike: Howie. Paul Eaton: You drafted a second round tight end who is on the IL, but he's not hurt. He he doesn't have the system down. And we could use that there's no reason why that second round pick should not be playing right now to back up Dallas Goddard. So now, you know, so that's who I'm going with. Howie. In-Person: you you Mike: Yeah, yeah. Risi: That's a good one. Mike: I agree. That's a good call. All right. ⁓ give him mine. ⁓ I I figured one of you guys would say it, but ⁓ I'm gonna go Jalen Hurts. ⁓ not perfect. He did make mistakes, but he did it with his arm and he straight up said, You started it, so I had to go out there and finish it. And the best part about that, the best part about that whole thing is that after the touchdown, when ⁓ Cooper came down with it, if anybody caught the subtlety. Paul Eaton: Okay. Risi: That was cold. Paul Eaton: That was cold. Mike: He went right to the camera and started clapping in front of it. You know why? Because he was may he was doing back because of what what's his name did to fucking Carter. Cam worded to Carter. Clapped in his face and they scored a touchdown. They were the most shit talking team I've ever seen on the field in a long time. It was bad. I thought a flag was going to get thrown for on sportsmen like for the way they were talking. Meaning the Titans. Risi: I didn't realize that's why I w Jamal Smith: He did. Risi: Cam Ward. Cam Ward Paul Eaton: Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Yeah. Risi: Hmm. ⁓ and and before we move on, just give an honorable shout out to Darius Cooper for getting that touchdown. Apparently he's like like the entire locker room was over like over the moon that he got it. Yeah, they love the guy. So shout out to him. Jamal Smith: Yes. Mike: Yeah, crazy for him. Yeah. I I I I was actually if you guys took Jalen, I was gonna go with ⁓ Dontavian Wicks. Like the whole first half, that guy was just unbelievable. He goes up for everything, he catches everything, he's not afraid to take a hit. He just had to have been buried in the wide receiver room that was in Green Bay because this kid is definitely good. He is he he's coming here and he's shined two weeks in a row. And I'm assuming that's why Magnum wanted to bring him over. Jamal Smith: Mm. Big. Paul Eaton: Yeah, shout out to Manion. I was just about to say for bringing him over and he knows the system and he's giving him a shot and he's shining right now. Jamal Smith: Yeah, Jalen and him are in sync too. They got connection, man. He catches them all over the field. In-Person: you you Mike: Yeah. Yeah. My bro on a donkey. I I 'cause I can't think of anything. I'm gonna go with this. The fucking turf. If you're gonna be a horrible team, I guess the plan is put AstroTurf and literally have it become lava. Like I have to give some of the bullshit or bad play we saw. I had to put some of it on the turf and the field. Jamal Smith: Ha ha ha. Risi: Hundred and sixty degrees. Mike: They said it was a hundred and sixty degrees and there was melting fucking cleats, dude. Like, isn't that just one more reason that we should not has a that we should not have Astroturf? Like Jamal Smith: Outrageous. Risi: I don't know why it's a thing anymore. Jamal Smith: Gotta Mike: What did that feel like when you got tackled and slid across it? Paul Eaton: Mm. Jamal Smith: Ooh. A hundred and fifty degrees. That is crazy. Like they said it on TV and I couldn't even fully conceptualize it. They're playing on a ⁓ flame and they're playing on the fucking sun. Mike: Yeah, yeah, exactly. All right. Wanna do one new thing. Out of everything everybody we just named, who are we giving like the ultimate bro and a bird to? Paul Eaton: Mm-hmm. ⁓ Jalen. For me. Jamal Smith: Yeah. Gold Jalen. Absolutely Jalen. Risi: Yeah, Jalen. Mike: Everybody? ⁓ I agree. I agree. I gotta come up with a new like ultimate And then the biggest, the biggest, the biggest donkey Risi: Ha. Paul Eaton: Yeah, the the ultimate award. The ultimate bro. Biggest donkey would be Simdons. ⁓ of who we listed. Risi: Yeah. Mike: Out of what we listed? Out of who we listed? I mean we gave four different ones. Risi: Caleb Williams. Jamal Smith: Yeah, definitely Caleb. Mike: I'm I Paul convinced me with ⁓ Paul convinced me with the Hallie one though. I I didn't even think about that. Paul Eaton: I'm okay with that. Yeah, that was a yeah, yeah. It's a good one. Jamal Smith: It's a good one. Risi: It's a good one, but I can't give Howie the biggest one. ⁓ the biggest like donkey thing yet. Not yet. Not yet. Paul Eaton: Yeah, I can't ⁓ Mike: Of the day? Of the day? Think about it though. We it we we went we open the cable. Alright, it's Caleb. It's Caleb. ⁓ Paul Eaton: can't I can't vote for Howie over over Caleb. I mean I I I I'll yeah, it's Caleb. He was yelling at his towel. He was like Risi: Nah. Yeah, come on, yeah. Jamal Smith: Yeah, yeah around. ⁓ In-Person: Gotcha, Risi: He's pounding the fist. Paul Eaton: Yeah. Mike: All right. Jamal Smith: So you you said like the ultimate bro and the bird, right? I and aside, I was listening to one of them radio stations and I heard ⁓ Rob Ellis and John Richie talking about a name for something and he named it the bloody bird. Like it was supposed to be like the I was like Paul Eaton: Yeah. Risi: ⁓ I heard that. Mike: The bloody bird like what's that? Like the tough what? The bloody bird? It sounds like a venereal disease. Jamal Smith: Yeah, it sounds really bad Like I don't Risi: Yo, John ⁓ John Richie's not right in the head, man. He's I heard that. Yeah, it was like the bloody burder word. Like and everyone kind of paused. Paul Eaton: Okay. In-Person: Whatever, I'll do what I want! you Paul Eaton: Ha ⁓ Jamal Smith: Like I get what they were trying to do and it does like the the concept was great. But Mike: Alright, so so so before we move on to the next segment, real quick, let's go since we're talking about the game and we're talking about Jalen and then we're talking about WIP, there were two things today that happened that I am blown away by. One was fucking Joe DeCamera still not really impressed with Jalen, and just because he put the team on his back at the end of the day, doesn't give him grace from all the things he did wrong. I I I I thought Seth Joyner was going to strangle him. Risi: You believe e As he should. As he should. Jamal Smith: Ha ha ha. Mike: And then the other one was today, I think that was yesterday. The other one was today was ESP on ⁓ the afternoon show. And him and I never agree with fucking Spike, I don't feel, but him and Spike arguing and Spike basically saying because of the ratings, like the scorecard. He said 'cause ESP said he gave I think he gave Jalen a B. If they didn't win the game, he would have been knocked down to a C because the interception he threw earlier in the game. And Spike was like Paul Eaton: He did. Yeah. Mike: What does it matter? He threw the interception either way. So if you're giving him a B for winning the game and only would give him a C if he didn't win because the the interception held that much weight, why doesn't the interception hold weight even in with him going down the field and winning the game? It's still an interception. And I I totally agree with Spike there. Like Jamal Smith: Mm-hmm. Paul Eaton: Yeah. I don't I don't agree with Spike a lot, but today I agreed with him. Jamal Smith: Yeah. Mike: But because he won the game doesn't mean he didn't throw the interception. In-Person: you you Paul Eaton: Yeah. It's it's Elliot. Risi: Can't take any of those dudes. I try. They're Elliot, the seltzer dude, and then like there's they're all circle jerking each other the whole time. I just can't do it. I try. I really do. I try to listen. Then the camera just I never mind. Don't give me on my rant about these guys. They I I try. Fucking ridiculous. Paul Eaton: Elliot being Elliot. Jamal Smith: Ha ha ha. Risi: I don't even know where we're at. Mike: No, the game just ended. The game just ended. Paul Eaton: Well we lost today. We lost tonight. Risi: We it's we're in preseason. I know we had a preseason game that we lost and we lost ⁓ we played the other day too. We lost. ⁓ I don't really have any news for the Flyboys. I think I went over the whole season start. I'm excited as hell for this season. If you want a news, I got gritty run coming up this weekend. I'll be at the I'll be at the gritty run on ⁓ Saturday. ⁓ there's another preseason game which I'm not gonna make ⁓ I'm gonna skip. I got free tickets to that, but I'm not going. But ⁓ there's no news with them. They're healthy. Jamal Smith: Okay. Mike: Okay. Paul Eaton: Okay, okay. I got a question. Risi: They're healthy. Are you gonna question Paul? All right. Mike: Got you gave every question. Paul Eaton: One one question. Is Michkov ready to go? Risi: ⁓ dude, so him and Tacket are like they are so in practice, Flyers Camp, if paying attention to it, like so Mechkov's in shape. He's enjoying this seat like this turnaround. He can he's got a little bit of ⁓ his English is getting better and he is ⁓ him and Tocket have really connected. So Meachkov should be in a lot better position. There's a fun there's a good clip of him going ice to ice. I think it was yesterday or the day before and ⁓ ⁓ so he's looking really, really good. And the and the boys are just having fun now. So Forester's back. He was giving it to ⁓ I forget who ⁓ the Martone. So like yeah, Meachkov's gonna be really good this year. He's in good shape. Last year he was he was not in shape. In-Person: you you Paul Eaton: Last last question. What's his ceiling? And what's his floor? Risi: ⁓ ceiling's probably a point point per game guy that's top twenty in the NHL. ⁓ his floor is if he turns full Russian and starts drinking and loses his you know, he's out of the league. So he's gonna be a point per game guy this year, which should be really good. He should be a top twenty guy. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Paul Eaton: Mm, okay. Mike: Nice. Nice. Paul Eaton: Love it. Thank you, sir. Mike: Alright, now ⁓ talking about things that are completely out of the blue, ⁓ because Dallas Goddard got hurt and we don't have a second round pick that can play tight end, suddenly Zach, my tight end, Ertz, is coming back to Philadelphia. Jamal, tell us all about it. Jamal Smith: ⁓ man. So I can't even express to you the shock and excitement that I felt. Because they dropped it a couple of weeks ago where he might come back. And then it just like gradually faded away. So all of my hopes were gone and I just gave the fuck up. And then this morning I heard that Zach Ertz is back. So Dallas Hurt ⁓ Dallas Goddard obviously went down. it seems to be a trend for him. He's a great football player, but very often he gets knocked out for four or eight games a season, which is a liability. He probably won't get a bigger contract, but let me not talk too much about him. Zach freaking hurts. I know y'all are excited, right? I know you're glad to see my man come back and finally he he's getting eight six back, right? They're not gonna cheat him out of his number. Mike: He's got eight six packs. It's confirmed. It's confirmed. I I am super excited. Zach Ertz has been one of my favorite Eagles in the modern era s ⁓ for a while. ⁓ and it was sucked to see him go, but I understood why and it it's I think it's awesome to see him come back. Risi: He's already got it. Paul Eaton: Yeah, I love it. I love that he's back. ⁓ they said his mom cried when she got the news and I'm sure his wife is excite excited for him coming back home and he is ⁓ ten, twelve receptions from having the all time lead over Harry Carmackle. In-Person: you you Mike: Yeah, it could happen, right? Risi: Yeah, he's ele eleven away. But like, you know what I love about this is that he actually when he went away, like he kinda went away for a little bit. We missed him, right? And I think I I know, we we and I think about like returning players, like this guy, there's gonna be such an uproar of like just a joy and elation because yeah, when he left, it like everyone felt that pain when his that that ⁓ Paul Eaton: Eleven away. He was in tears when he went away too. He did not want to leave. Risi: that interview and he's like, you know, I'm getting traded. He was in tears. So like I I couldn't be happier for him. Whether he gets the ⁓ he gets those ⁓ those eleven receptions, which I think he will. So he sh and he wasn't bad before he got hurt 'cause he not forget he's coming off of what, an injury ACL. Paul Eaton: He should. Mike: Yeah, I He yeah, he had ⁓ what was it? Was it MCO or ACL? Paul Eaton: It was a bad injury. It was it was a bad one. Jamal Smith: Yeah, it was it wasn't good. Like look, the dude's thirty five years old. I hear that. But there's one thing that he brings in this experience. I mean, a hundred and eighty one NFL games, eight hundred and twenty five career receptions, eight thousand five hundred and ninety-two yards and fifty-seven touchdowns. He knows his way around the football field. And he knows his way around Philadelphia. Yo, this shit's got me so hyped. I can't wait till Monday. I'm hoping he gets on the field. I mean, the way he was talking, he's like, you a route to route. Like dude's a consummate professional. I believe he's gonna get himself ready to get out there and he's probably gonna make a difference while Dallas is out. Paul Eaton: One thing he can do is catch the ball. And he could he could be he could be used in around the the red zone on Monday night. So I'm I'm excited for him to come. Mike: He he's going to get those eleven. Yeah. Because he got signed to the practice squad today, so that means he will be able to be active for the game, and that's what we expect. He's going to see plenty of time because it's going to take over for Goddard, because like Paul said, what the fuck's the kid's name? ⁓ they can't make yeah, he can't make he clearly isn't going to make the field. And the we don't have Calcutta anymore. The guy who came in for him, you know, after Goddard went down, I don't even remember who it was. I don't know who it is. He wasn't that productive. ⁓ Mutt, yeah, thank you. So Paul Eaton: Mm-hmm. In-Person: you you Paul Eaton: Hours. Jamal Smith: Towers, Paul Eaton: Johnny Munt. Mike: I i if Ertz has any physicality left, which I think he does, he's going to contribute. He like like they even talked about him in the commander's game. ⁓ about how if he was if Ertz was there, that's where they he would have been used to do the, you know, the fourth downs and third downs that they had they couldn't they couldn't convert in the game against ⁓ whoever the hell they were playing the other night. Risi: Yeah. Yeah, I don't think Ertz is watched though. Like he he's thirty five, which is tough, but it's not I don't he was still productive in his just last year. So coming back from the injury, like I I think this is a total win. And we have a decent receiving core at this point. Like so it's he's not it's just a compliment, which is even better, you know, and that I'm excited. ⁓ this this is a huge pickup for us. Jamal Smith: Yours. Mike: It's just a compliment. Jamal Smith: Yeah. Mike: And then this has to be the end, right? This has to be the end. This is like this is it. Earth's is gonna fit Paul Eaton: Yeah, this is it. Yeah. Risi: Well, 'cause him and Lane Johnson got drafted the same year, right? The Yeah, him and Lane Johnson or if I remember right, they got drafted the same year, like the two and three pick or whatever it was. And ⁓ yeah, so like this should be their they ex they go out together. Like this is this is poetic for them too. Paul Eaton: Wow. Mike: Holy shit. Jamal Smith: I absolutely love it. Cause you know how the older players sometimes after they retire will sign that like one day deal and retire with like he gets an opportunity to actually make a mark before he goes out. Like Brandon Graham style. I think that's dope as shit. ⁓ I really hope. I really hope we're able to keep it together, not only for Zach, but for everybody. But it will be nice to see Zach go out on time. In-Person: you you Risi: I I agree. Mike: We're gonna start a countdown. We're gonna do a touchdown countdown to get him past Carmichael. So right now we're sit we're sitting at eleven. ⁓ or receptions, right? He needs eleven. He needs eleven receptions. So receptions, not touchdowns, receptions. So we'll do a countdown. We got so we're starting at eleven today. So ⁓ maybe by I'm gonna say after next week it's gonna be down to nine minimum. Paul Eaton: There we go. Jamal Smith: ⁓ shit. Risi: ⁓ that's res it touchdown? Yeah. Paul Eaton: Yeah, receptions, not touchdowns. Yeah. Risi: Whoo. Yeah. Jamal Smith: Ooh I th honestly, ⁓ In-Person: you Paul Eaton: Yeah. Mike: Breaking news Eagles sign a safety. Jamal Smith: Shut up. Mike: Eagles sign Kenny Moore the second. The Eagles are bringing in veteran cornerback Kenny Moore to play safety nickel in Philadelphia. Zach Ertz is the only player joining the Philadelphia Eagles this week. The team is signing veteran defensive back Kenny Moore the second on what is reported to be a one-year deal worth $3 million as per Mike Garafola. The plan is for Moore to play safety in nickel in Philadelphia. The 31-year-old defender brings nine years of experience, all with the Colts. And we'll add some death to a group that has already dealt with injuries. His presence gives the Eagles more flexibility in the secondary. The Colts waived more shortly after 2026 NFL draft, and he spent the offseason looking for a new place to land. ⁓ here's a look at what he's career snaps by position as a slot corner, 4,804 snaps. He spent most of his time there, 62%. ⁓ as a wide corner, ⁓ 21% at 1,600 snaps. In the box, 944 snaps. D-line, 298 snaps, and at free safety, 58 snaps. ⁓ Pro Bower's career includes 649 tackles, 68 pass defenses, 21 interceptions, 20 QB hits, and 11.5 sacks and six first fumbles. With Reed gone, we knew and I said it last week, I was a little worried about Cooper, and they didn't really take advantage of the gene this week, but it they did throw towards him again. ⁓ I think this might be the help that we were thinking they needed in the secondary. Jamal Smith: Yeah. Risi: I didn't Paul Eaton: So now Coop can go back to what he normally does and and gets off that position. Mike: Yep. He can go back to he can go back to nickel corner and you put him in the safety. Jamal Smith: That's what they need. Yeah. Risi: Why wasn't he signed? Paul Eaton: How many snaps did this guy ha yeah, that's what I was just about to say, Chris. Like what's his deal? What's his deal? Okay. Risi: Why why wasn't he signed? Mike: He's old. He's I mean that's what it sounds like. It sounds like ⁓ he's thirty one years old. He's played f four, five, six, seven, about eight thousand snaps. In-Person: you you Risi: ⁓ he's young. Jamal Smith: He's not he's not too old, yeah. It's a lot of snaps. It's a lot of snaps. Risi: That's a lot of sna Mike: Ha ha. Paul Eaton: And if he's coming from the Colts, I guess Siriani I guess is familiar with him, I guess. Mike: So That's what was saying. Here's some quick thoughts. Moore reunites with Nick Siriani, who overlapped with Indy from eighteen to twenty. Moore also overlapped with current Eagles secondary coach Mike Pellegrino in the Patriots in twenty seventeen when Moore was an underactive free agent in the training camp. ⁓ yeah, with Marcus Epp struggling, could the ⁓ they move Cooper Dejean to safety full time and put Kenny in a nickel corner? Mm. Paul Eaton: Yes. Yes. Risi: ⁓ I love that. Yeah. Jamal Smith: Yeah, Epsis ha Eps is having problems out there. Mike: Which and that's it's it sucks 'cause he looked kinda okay in the first game. Yeah. Jamal Smith: Yeah. Paul Eaton: In the first game. Yeah, he did. But ⁓ well Mike: Same thing, he's coming onto the practice squad and then he'll go from there. Paul Eaton: I trust Fangio to do what he needs to do. He knows what's going on out there. Risi: Yeah, and I like this takes him off the market too. Like it feels like this is the right guy to pick up and have on your team. It just, you know, 'cause I could feel like another team picking him up would benefit. Like, that's a total good move here. I love this. Mike: Yeah. Yeah, I I I agree. I think it's I mean it's definitely gonna help. I mean, we w I I think we were all a little concerned about the defense after the collapse in the second half in the first game, and then not so great of a play, you know, this week. But I th I was putting more on the line this week with the run game just you know, their the the Tennessee's run game just running all over so it was a little concerning. But Paul Eaton: Did you guys notice a difference with the O-line switching the two? Cause that was a surprise that they switched two positions. Jamal Smith: Yeah, yeah. Mike: ⁓ that they put w Yeah, they put what's his aim in at center. ⁓ which that that's a good point what we didn't talk on. D does does he just need to be benched? Risi: Yeah. I mean come on. Jamal Smith: Yeah, he's wash, bro. In-Person: you you Paul Eaton: Yeah. Jamal Smith: I think it's over for Mr. Jurgens. Risi: Dude, that image I sent in the group chat, like it was 1000%. I think ⁓ there's the statistic that ⁓ Jalen Hurts was fifty-three percent of all offensive snaps, he was hurried or rushed. Like and and and mind you, that's a B for ESP. Bum. ⁓ Jamal Smith: He's an asshole. He really is. Paul Eaton: But he hasn't played guard in a while. He's a center now. Risi: Ugh this is rough. Paul Eaton: It is rough. So and here's another thing. If we had our old guy, Statlin University back. Mike: Well that's the bigger question, right? Paul Eaton: Like are we missing ⁓ Jamal Smith: Yeah. Risi: We're missing ⁓ Jamal Smith: I think it might I think it might be the parts though. I don't know. I don't know. I wanna push back on that a little bit. I think it might be the linemen themselves. It didn't work last year. I mean, Southern University was in fucking session. yeah, it looked like garbage last year, man. Mike: That that's Paul Eaton: The parts. Okay. Mike: Yeah, and you're right, and they looked bad last year too. Risi: That's fair. Mike: All right. Well, unfortunately, Chris, we're gonna keep talking about injuries and ⁓ this is your saying where you can just tell us, well, who else got hurt this week? Because it was pretty freaking it was a pretty brutal week. Yeah. Paul Eaton: It was it was la it was like Black Sunday out there. Whew Risi: I gotta tell you this It really was. I mean, we gotta we we gotta start with the the three young quarterbacks first. So we got Jaden Daniels, Caleb Williams, Jackson Dart. Like the Mike: One of these things just isn't the same. I don't know. Go ahead, sorry. I don't know. Well take it away. Risi: Mm-hmm. ⁓ Which one of them? Which one All right, let's start with Jaden Daniels. ⁓ he suffered a dislocated left elbow against the Cowboys. ⁓ and what's concerning is that it this is the same el ⁓ elbow he dislocated ⁓ last season. An injury that caused him to miss seven ⁓ of the last eight games of Washington. I think he came back what he played us like for us. Mike: For us, he came back to play us. And let's not forget that this injury happened and it was so gross that Tom Brady on national TV said ⁓ shit and then quickly said sorry, I wasn't expecting to see that. In-Person: you you Paul Eaton: Said Yeah. Risi: ⁓ sh Jamal Smith: Yeah, if you can get that drop, you're a real one. You that ⁓ shit. Mike: Yes. Risi: But like that's why I do like T B on commentary. He just gave it to you real, man. Paul Eaton: He did he did. He did. Mike: He's been way better. Jamal Smith: He did. He's killing it. Yeah. Risi: ⁓ shit. Mike: Yeah. Jamal Smith: He yo, that was genuine as fuck, man. 'Cause that was so horrible looking. ⁓ my God. Paul Eaton: Mm. Risi: Yeah. I i that is something, man. Like I think of I still think of like ⁓ RG three out there with his little tink tink legs like bending and breaking everywhere. Now you got J Jaden Daniels, man. Oof. Paul Eaton: So the if you if you saw Stephen A. Smith, Chris, that's exactly what he said. He says that he's reminding him of RG three, man. ⁓ it's a bad look for him because it's his it is this his same the same elbow that he ⁓ man, that's Risi: RG three. Mike: Yeah. Risi: So Mike: Same one. Mm-hmm. Risi: S same elbow, yep. Jamal Smith: Same one. Risi: Because he just put his arm down. Yeah. This was I remember because this was like in my heyday of like lifting world. And I remember ⁓ RG3, his knees would bow in, and you remember looking at it like, dude, you're you're you're gonna cave your whole body and you you're supposed to have your knees out just when you squat, just like little basic principles, and he didn't do it. And sure enough, them fucking things went backwards and he was done forever. They're just fundamental things, and Jaden Daniels is in that same that same camp now with his arm, and it's it's a shame. Jamal Smith: It's a structural problem. Yeah. Ha ha ha. Paul Eaton: So Chris, is he frail? Does he need to develop muscle then? I guess more muscle? Risi: No, like RG through RG three like fundamental. Like literally, I remember like we would like we literally would like ⁓ in our in our weightlifting things, we would like pick it apart because like when you squat, his knees would go in and and like you that's just fundamentally no, your knees go out, right? And you kind of in kind of a straight down your feet, but like RG3 was fundamentally like not right there. Now, again, I'm not an NFL athlete. That's not a piece, but just from a lifting perspective. Now, and it's like Jaden Daniels, like fundamentally putting your arm down and that. In-Person: you you Risi: snapping in that direction. It's like that's mechanics, man. There's something going on with that body of his. Twice in a row. It's a shame. It's a shame. Hmm. Yeah, not good. Well, good for us in the in and I hate to be that way, but I mean Mike: A a and it's twice in a row. Like Jamal Smith: Wise. It will be nice to not see him again. In-Person: Hello there. Risi: He's really good. He's really good when he's out there. ⁓ now we got Ca Caleb Williams, which is very timely. ⁓ he injured his hamstring in Chicago's loss. ⁓ legend has ⁓ it you know, he was doing good and ⁓ you know, he got carted off the field and yeah, ex you know, they had the they had to ⁓ put a tourniquet on and and and stop the bleeding and and ⁓ Paul Eaton: He got shot in the leg from the stands. Mike: Mm-hmm. Jamal Smith: I just can't man. I just can't. Paul Eaton: You saw it. Jamal Smith: Bruh. Risi: But you know, not let's let's let's tie more of the Caleb stuff back when we get to the game breakdown for and let's head to the Jackson dart. So one I think someone said this in the chat and one of the two concussion twins had to get knocked out. Paul Eaton: Okay. Mike: It only took a game and one play. Risi: So Jackson Dart, no concussion, but his his maybe his knees got a concussion. ⁓ if you saw that hit, it looked crazy. Looked like he just got like a shoulder to the knee and now he's got an MCL screen, so he's now out. And that was a shame. Look and it looked like James Winston when he went in. It looked like he had no interest in playing this game. He's go shit. Paul Eaton: Dead. Mike: Yeah. Jamal Smith: None. None. Mike: He's just there for moral support. But actually, since this ⁓ was all what I since I wrote all this and and and we we we're we've been on the call, more has come out. It's way more serious than they thought. It's possibly season ending. Yeah. Dude, it looked nasty. His body went seven directions. In-Person: you you Paul Eaton: Yeah. We're saying he could be yeah. Risi: ⁓ no way for Jackson. Jamal Smith: Yeah. It look yo, did you see it? Did you see it? Paul Eaton: I dare I mean his i his his whole leg his whole leg was like wobbly. It was Jamal Smith: I knew his ACL was torn. I knew his fucking ACL was torn. Mike: But he was walking around one of that later in the game and they said that he tried to go back in. They literally had like hide his uniform from him. Paul Eaton: Because he saw the Caleb Williams memes and did not want to go out like that. Mike: Yeah, dude. He was like, I gotta look tough. I gotta look tough. Jamal Smith: ⁓ huh. Risi: I respect it. I respect it, man. ⁓ Mike: But all right, I I mentioned it earlier, this is what I wanted to talk about. But all right, here's the two things. So when when Dart went down, every player dropped to a knee and everybody went around him, right? Which was like expected. But and I didn't think about this until I I I saw it. But when Jaden Daniels went down and they all stood there and watched his elbow go the wrong direction, they just walked away. They just all walked away from him. Paul Eaton: I know where you're going with this. And they all walked off the field. They all walked off the field. Jamal Smith: Yeah, ⁓ well. Risi: Yo, did you see who walked towards him though? Dak Pre No, Dak Prescott. Legit so Dak Prescott grabbed CeeDee Lamb. Yo, he like the kids hurt. And they started walking back out of the tunnel. So like, you know, I I I was like, man, I was like, Dak actually cares about him versus his own team. Paul Eaton: That is crazy. Mike: Marcus Mariota? ⁓ Jamal Smith: Shut up. Mike: Yeah, like so what what is up with that? Did the team like like is there something going on in that locker room? Like that is just weird, man. I could get maybe at first they didn't realize because he didn't look like he just went down, he fell on his arm. So maybe they didn't notice at first, but when he was down there and they started bringing out all the medical, like nobody, like it was really weird. Jamal Smith: Damn. Paul Eaton: Yeah. ⁓ I saw that bike and I thought the same thing, something must might not be right in that locker room. Risi: The only story I heard was that allegedly this allegedly you have to leave the field for halftime. Alle again, I don't know if there's any merit to it, but like the counter argument was that the players were instructed to leave the field 'cause it's halftime. But again, I don't Mike: Yeah, I d I don't know. Yeah, but dude, as soon as it happened, they all dispersed. Like none of them even turned around to be like, yo, dude, your arms backwards That like Yeah, that shit was crazy. ⁓ there were some other notable injuries, right? Like didn't some more people Paul Eaton: ⁓ okay. All right. In-Person: you you Risi: No, I ⁓ it was bad. It wasn't good. Yeah, we got Jaden Reed of the Green Bay ⁓ Packers ⁓ neck injury against the Jets, Saquon, our Saquon, ⁓ with the stinger, and then he has like that ⁓ that cool Mike Elstott ⁓ shoulder ⁓ pad thing on. ⁓ yeah, yeah, yeah. Dallas Goddard had the MCL sprain and ⁓ that's ⁓ that's the main ones right there. Jamal Smith: Not good. Mike: Yeah. Yeah, the cowboy collar. And Goddard is expec is expected to miss a few games, is the last I heard. Paul Eaton: Yes. Risi: But that's we kinda know that. You could you could you can you could put take that to the bank every season that he's gonna have a couple of games. Jamal Smith: Yeah, quite a few. Risi: So now to get back to the Caleb Williams kind of moving in the next week. ⁓ you got something? Mike: I was looking for a towel to like drape over. Jamal Smith: Yeah, you know what's crazy? Like, so last year I played kickball with my job, like a couple of guys for the job weeded a team. And a couple of guys, girls, whatever. And I got a grade one fucking calf strain. And it was like the worst experience ever, yet I continued to run to the base and then I pitched and played the rest of the game and like limped home to my car and drove myself home. So I'm like really messed up off of this. Like, dude was like, Tell my family I love ⁓ Like it's like Paul Eaton: Yeah. Yeah. Jamal Smith: It's like he was on the Titanic or some shit and it was going down. Like I don't I don't understand it. I don't wanna judge him, but I don't understand it. I mean Risi: Yeah. He paints he paints his fingernails. It's ⁓ it it all makes sense, man. I'm going there, man. The fuck. Where there's smoke where there's smoke, there's fire. Look, man, I've I've learned Paul Eaton: No we're not go we're not going there. ⁓ Mike: ⁓ Dude, he he He did like he did the whole Kobe man Jamal Smith: Well I I Paul Eaton: I might have been thinking it, but I wasn't going there. I'm not going there. None of my business. Risi: Alright, well Mike: Well well no no w we hey, Paul argued with us last week and said, hey, the Madden curse ain't really a thing. Damn right it is. Damn right it is Damn right it is. Chris called that shit out real quick. He like, Isn't he on the cover Madden? In-Person: you you Jamal Smith: Ha. Risi: Yeah. Isn't he on the Madden? Paul Eaton: And it I I it it's crazy. It's I would I would sue the company. I would sue Madden for putting me on the cover. Mike: But and I think Chris is getting to it. The crazier part about all this is he is hurt and we're probably not gonna see him Monday. We might. But the backup quarterbacks are Yeah. Jamal Smith: Yeah. Risi: Yeah, he's got concussion protocol. Jamal Smith: ⁓ it's concussion protocol, right? Paul Eaton: ⁓ wow, I didn't hear that. Risi: Maybe we maybe Mike: Yeah. Tyson Bedbagant or B Kate Blanchett. Kate Blanch. Paul Eaton: Badget, badge it, badge. Jamal Smith: I'm Risi: I thought it was like Kate ⁓ I thought it was ⁓ short ⁓ Jamal Smith: Ha ha ha Paul Eaton: Who's the back? Risi: Mm. Mike: It's was Tyson, but now it's gonna be ⁓ somebody we know. Case Keenum. Yeah, thank you. Jamal Smith: Case Keenum. What is he, forty three years old at this point? He's been in the league for a thousand years. Risi: Case yeah. In-Person: Hello there. Mike: Yeah. Risi: I know that. We should treat him ⁓ let's give him what do you call it, our guy? We give him ⁓ the red rocket. Mike: Andy. The Red Rock kill the Red Rocket. Give ⁓ Andy. Jamal Smith: The red rocket. Give him the red rocket. Risi: Ha ha. Paul Eaton: Maybe he goes to New York finally. And then we can Yeah, and then we can add McKee back up because they want our the other guy, the third string. They the young kid, they like him. No, not not not McKee, the other guy. The guy we just drafted. Yeah. Mike: Who to rock it? Tanner? Tanner? No. ⁓ the guy we draft the guy we drafted. I c ⁓ Jamal Smith: Yo, who would we get for him though? Like, who could we trade New York for? Like, to get rid of the Red Rocket? Paul Eaton: It wouldn't be a trade, it would be a draft pick probably. Mike: Malik neighbors, cause you could see he clearly didn't want to play there anymore last I that motherfucker went out caught a ball less like put two feet on the ground and was like, ⁓ shit man, he just fell. Just fell. Just everybody on the call was like not really sure what happened, but he's in a lot of pain. Risi: I I went Scadaboo because he's only got like six games left in his career, and I want to see him. Mike: What do you Paul Eaton: Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Risi: That guy's amazing. Mike: I I I really thought with what's his name going there as the coach, ⁓ Harbaugh that it it would change a little bit, but that that was bad last night. That was bad. And the Rams didn't even really look good. Like the Rams looked like they were just beaten up on a bad team. It didn't look like they were like like, you know it. Yeah, that was that was horrible. Risi: Arball. Can't fix c can't fix crazy. In-Person: you you Paul Eaton: It was bad. Jamal Smith: Yeah. And they smoked them. It was it was bad. I was happy. No, like first of all, first of all, I gotta say I was happy because fuck the Giants. ⁓ everyone was really hype on the Giants after the first week, and I had to kind of acquiesce a little bit, like, ⁓ yeah, they look good. Now I don't have to say that shit. Fuck y'all. Like, you don't have a quarterback. I'm sorry for Jackson Dart, but it serves my agenda to hate on the fucking Giants and call them pieces of shit and can't nobody say anything. There's a couple of guys from my job who are Giants fans. Risi: Yeah. Mike: All right. Ha ha ha Jamal Smith: All I did was just look at ⁓ today. I like, ⁓ thoughts are pre Like, I even talk a lot of shit. Fuck y'all. Fuck the Giants. I'm so excited about this shit. Sorry, Jackson, but I'm so excited. 'Cause now y'all gonna suck for six weeks. Risi: Not surprising. Paul Eaton: Yeah. Mike: With that Paul Eaton: Welcome to another edition of Bruze on Birds Podcast with Fantasy Paul here. All right, let's break it down. This was a tough week. So ⁓ this is Waiver Tuesday and ⁓ there's gonna be a lot of people going there. Mike: I just want you to know I I didn't play I didn't play Waddle because you told me he was gonna suck. Paul Eaton: Is that right? Well did you? As I suggested. As I suggested. Well well, let's okay, let's fact check it. So my plays of the week was Hertz, Jones, ⁓ Cortland, ⁓ Colston Loveland. Now he would have been good, but we just talked about his quarterback going down last week. So Mike: And I put gold I put golden in instead. As as you suggested. I just wanna I s just wanna point I wanna point that out. Yeah. Jamal Smith: Ooh. ⁓ no. In-Person: you you Paul Eaton: That that's that's a wash. Like in a betting situation, that would be voided. So ⁓ so yeah, let's talk about the big players of this week. And I'm gonna tell you right now if you have Josh Allen, Jameer Gibbs, or JSN, you're probably winning your league right now because ⁓ okay, those guys are just bawling out. So the top five in week two fantasy performers were Mike: I got Josh. Paul Eaton: As follows Josh Allen, Jared Goff with a good performance. That Prescott, solid. Him and CD were going crazy. ⁓ Patrick Mahomes could be having a resurgent. ⁓ there could be something going on there. And Brock Purdy, who has been steady for them. So ⁓ top five quarterbacks. Now let's go to the running backs. We got Jonathan Taylor, oldie but goody. He's he just gets it done with twenty nine point two points. Kenneth Walker the third, still getting it done for the Kansas City Chiefs, doing very, very well. Then we got Jameer Gibbs, Christian McCaffrey, steady as always, with 22.6. And rounding out the top five is James Cook for the Buffalo Bills. Now let's go to wide receiver. We got JSN, as I said, 33.5 points. He's a beast. CeeDee Lamb with two touchdowns, 27.3. ⁓ I'm in Ross Brown, another beast, Jamar Chase, amazing. And a sleeper, Mr. Tucker from the ⁓ Las Vegas Raiders came in at 17.9. Let's go to the tight ends. So, my dilemma. I had Puka Nakua. Okay. I also had his tight end. I dropped his tight end, got Devin Singletary, screwed me. His tight end scored a touchdown last night. But Dalton Schultz was the top receiver. Now he could be on the I'll I will be mentioning him later for waivers. Travis Kelsey, a resurgent with Tay Tay in the audience. Now I ain't going there, Tay Tay, but she was in the audience. ⁓ Dalton Kincaid, Buffalo Bills. Jake Ferguson from Dallas. And the Walrus. Darren Waller. Jamal Smith: Mm-hmm. Paul Eaton: Cuckoo Choo. If you know, you know. Alright, now they were the top performers. Now, listen, guys, it is waiver Tuesday night. So your waivers will go in sometime after midnight. Let's go quarterback. I think Bryce Young needs to be picked up. He's available in only 34% of normal leagues right now. Two good weeks, man, of basically catch-up ball, but. Mike: It's had two good weeks. Paul Eaton: It's fantasy. That's what you want. Exactly right. Exactly right. Another ⁓ QB. ⁓ if you drop Kyler Murray, he should be returning back this week. Tyler Shuck from the New Orleans Saints. He's been doing it since last year, y'all. He could be, I think he's available in like 65% of leagues. So you still might have a shot with him. ⁓ Mike: I that's how dax always look good. Yeah. Paul Eaton: The top running back, Jonah Coleman from Denver. Now he's a backup, but J.K. Dobbins got hurt again, which she always does every year in the fantasy world. If you know, you know. ⁓ Valet from the ⁓ New Orleans Saints. Most people picked him up, but he's still available in some leagues. Our guy, Mr. Wicks. Mike: Yeah, I think so. Paul Eaton: Two solid weeks, man. I he is available in ⁓ 40, 44 percent of leagues. He's still available out there. And let's see, Kalan Black from the ⁓ San Francisco 49ers. He backs up Christian. It's always good to have him as a handcuff or not, but he's another available guy. ⁓ Juwan Johnson. In-Person: you you Risi: That's a good pickup. Mike: That yeah. That's good look actually. Paul Eaton: Tight end, New Orleans Saints, another good tight end that you can go out there and get. And Dalton Schultz, who is my top tight end to get on the waivers if he's out there. ⁓ Do you guys have any questions for this upcoming week? Any questions, any questions? Risi: Did you did you win your week one? Paul Eaton: I won week one, lost week two because on my main team I have Caleb Williams, Dallas Goddard, Puka Nakua and who was who was the other guy? Yeah, I I I got banged up this week. So and it wasn't at the bar, it was on my fantasy squad. So ⁓ it was just a tough week altogether. So I will be on that waiver wire trying to get the best available for this year. Jamal Smith: That hurts. Jesus. Risi: Nah. Mike: I just want to point out that the league that Paul and I are both in, he's one and one, and I am ⁓ currently two and ⁓ Currently two and I I I I won I won two awards this week too in our league. I did. I gotta see where I can see them at though. So fantasy achievements. I got the No Mercy and the Point Savage Award this week. No mercy. They never s what a blowout win. Paul Eaton: There it is, there it is, there it is, there it is. Yeah, Matthew. Jamal Smith: ⁓ Paul Eaton: Did you? Did you? What award is this? ⁓ okay. Mike: ⁓ I I I won one fifty six to seventy and my points average is ⁓ I scored the best score for the week. Risi: Ooh. Paul Eaton: There you go. Good s good work. Keep listening. Keep listening to Fantasy Paul. Mike: Thanks to ⁓ say yeah, yeah. Keep us the fantasy Paul. 'Cause I have for next year Risi: I'm taking my notes for next year. In-Person: you you Paul Eaton: Yeah, yeah. And my ⁓ do I have a sleeper? No. No I no real sleepers, but later on in the week I will have my weeks, my starts and sits of the week coming up later. Love you guys. Mike: All right. Risi: You heard it. Paul Eaton: I love it. It's so stupid. Mike: We're gonna we're gonna take you to the Renaissance Fair and play this while you walk around. We got only got a couple of weeks left, so we gotta dress you up and Risi: ⁓ my god. You need like a helmet? Mike: Like like wizard's robes and a helmet. And the Lombardi trophy, like as a staff or something? That'd be great. Paul Eaton: I need a big turkey leg. I need a big turkey leg when I hear that. Mike: ⁓ yeah. Yeah, exactly. all right. Risi: Dude, I'm so in. In-Person: You Mike: That's right. Let's get into it. Monday night football. two and ⁓ Bears are one and one. Philadelphia travels to Chicago for the Monday night matchup at I guess the end of Soldier Field and before they leave the city of Chicago. And this game got very, very interesting. Not only because it's an Eagles game and we want to go three and ⁓ but first because Caleb Kobe Bryant Williams is he shows us a problem. Jamal Smith: B. Mike: But normally not ⁓ but normally ⁓ that would be a thing, but he's more than likely not gonna be there. and it would have been a different challenge than Tennessee, but we don't know now with with case keenum as the backup. In-Person: you you Mike: So the big question is, gonna be playing quarterback, guys? What we think? Risi: We don't know yet, right? I mean, we genuinely don't I don't think Chicago knows who's playing quarterback. Jamal Smith: Hmm. Mike: Has I'm gonna while user talking, I'm gonna see if I can find anything. what's that? Risi: The last thing I saw, Caleb Williams is still week to week. And then you've got the the Tyson. he's out in concussion protocol. So you really are just left with Case Keenum. And I mean it's not They're all bad options for them right So this is not they're this is this is gonna be a totally different game because of the Caleb Williams situation. a totally, totally different situation. I I this is all in our favor. Mike: Yeah and it's leaning towards Case Keenum. Yeah. Wow. Paul Eaton: Case Keenum. Yeah, that's what I just saw too. ⁓ so listen guys, it's g it's gotta ⁓ go go ahead, Jamal. Go ahead. You're up. Jamal Smith: So No, no, that's cool. I I'm not feeling as confident about it. I I do think that we'll win. But I gotta say, still scarred from that time the Bears just beat us up on the front, on the lines. And Swift is there. They still have decent running game. And that guy Spears, we made him look like Emmett Smith last week. Like that shit was embarrassing. Mike: Well I I think you just nailed it. That's gonna be if it is Case Keenum or the other kid, I'm not gonna remember his name, the number one thing that we need to look up matchup wise is gonna be our run defense versus their run game. And Swift has looked good, but I think if that's all we need to focus on, then we should be pretty good. Hopefully it looks better than it did last week because Tennessee, I think, exploited our run defense. But again, don't know how much of it was due to the ⁓ Jamal Smith: He's looked good. Mike: pretend the ground's lava that was going on the ⁓ in that stadium. Jamal Smith: That's fair. Paul Eaton: I was just I was just gonna say, ⁓ to piggyback off of what Jamal was saying. yeah, listen, regardless who's quarterback, they still got a good head coach that knows how to scheme things up. But the thing that worries me is the running run defense. Are we gonna be able to stop the running game? 'Cause they're gonna probably try to run it down our throats and manhandle us like they did in our own home. Now, we should want revenge. This is a revenge game in my opinion. In-Person: you you Mike: Yeah. Paul Eaton: So I think we get revenge on the road. I didn't expect Caleb not to miss this game, but it looks like he will miss it. There's but like Jamal said, I still think it's gonna be a nail biter in the fourth quarter because they got pride too, and they want to probably win for Caleb if he's not in the game. But it's gonna be really interesting, and I think I see another 24-20 game, to be honest with you. Risi: Or but like so the the the the game is really gonna come down to like I think it was the last game we played with them. We got destroyed in the trenches, right? Like I mean like we So like if you're a revenge game, you can't lose that battle again. This embarrassing. I'm not feeling super competent on the O line, but we have the talent on the D line not to get worked like this. Like I mean, like argue like so this can't happen. Like I I'm not sure is Grenard coming back yet, or is he still out with the pectoral injury? Paul Eaton: Yes, we did. Man, both sides. Mike: Yeah. Yep. Paul Eaton: Great question. Great question. Where is he? I don't know. Mike: Yeah, ⁓ what is the newest? He was he was elevated last week, right? Paul Eaton: Yes. Risi: He was elevated. So if like I'm thinking because he was almost questionable for our memory for week one. Then it's the same thing for week two. Like for me, the statement for this game, that your your secondary doesn't have to do everything. You know, Swift is out there that can run all overs, and he has before. And we lost a battle in the trenches. Like has to be the Carter Davis game. I said that going in the last week. I thought Carter was going to eat. because you had their their tackle was I mean all the right recipe for that. And then that did not happen. I that's this this has gotta be the defensive line. Has to win this game. In-Person: you you Mike: I I agree, especially if it's a backup quarterback. And and if you can make him the ball, like they should be eating. Like in ⁓ to use your words, and it should be those two specifically. And actually I think it should be no it's probably gonna be Nolan Smith that should get the or JLicks. Risi: ⁓ he but he Nolan Smith was great last game. He had a lot of great tackles. ⁓ Mike: Yep, yep, yep. Paul Eaton: And again, like I said about the Tennessee game, they could have overlooked them. I get it. I said it was gonna be a home crowd. It definitely was a home freaking crowd. It was like eight, like seventy five, thirty five there, or thirty, whatever the hell a percentage is. It was it was a home game. And they were looking forward I know they're looking forward to this Monday night game. So they better show up and show out. That's all I gotta say. They better. Risi: Yeah. Yeah, Monday night football at Soldier Field, you know, you got Caleb out. Yeah, this has to be the D line winning this game. 'Cause there's some other matchups that we should be concerned with. I think that's the number one, at least in my opinion, 'cause you I forgot it we we got manhandled by them. That was embarrassing. Paul Eaton: Uh-huh. Mike: Yep, yeah. Yeah. think all right, well then here's another matchup that we do we don't talk about. They last week, secondary wise, were able to handle Minnesota the most part. They played well against their st their other wide receivers, Jefferson. How do you think they can handle can they handle versus Devontae Smith and Wicks? Paul Eaton: Le PV. Risi: Well don't for I mean they had Carson Wentz as their Q B, right? It's not like they had their starter. what's name? the big dude. Yeah, yeah. Mike: Yeah. Jamal Smith: Tyler. Mike: Kyle but car I mean Carson played a good game. What was Car what hold on? What were Carson's stats? Carson played a really good first game. Risi: Yeah, but then you got tape on ⁓ You're you're you you're prep you're prepping for Kyler, then you're not pre now you're prepping for Carson, then you can put the hammer down. Mike: He was eleven of twenty for one hundred and forty three and six rushing yards. Risi: Nah. Ain't Jalen. In-Person: you you Mike: ⁓ yeah, it's good. Paul Eaton: But but I will say it was in a torment torrential rainstorm. It was horrible weather. Wherever they pla was it in Chicago last week? Risi: Either city, you're gonna have terrible weather. Paul Eaton: Yeah, Minnesota has a dome. So yeah, it was in Chicago last week. And it was it was a horrible weather day. So that factors in as well. So it should be a get right game for the defense. I think week one, the defense played well. Janiel Janian Dal Jalen Daniels is just a great athlete that escaped a lot. But we pressured him a lot during that game. Last week, okay, if you want to chalk it up to the heat, then being tired, okay, fine. The defense ⁓ need Mike: Yeah, it was in Chicago. You're right. Yep. Risi: I yeah. Paul Eaton: I need more of what I saw week one from them. Mike: But I also think there was a little bit of misconception of the score because if he didn't throw that interception in the very beginning, we would have scored there. More than likely we would have at least scored three there. So i ⁓ they they wouldn't have got seven. ⁓ score would have been way di I think the score would have looked way different if that interception didn't happen. So Tennessee. Yeah, and they scored off of that. Paul Eaton: Se on call team. 'Cause Chicago, I mean, th they ran it all the way back to like the five six yeah, five, six yard line. Mike: So like I mean I I I think that could have that I think that made a big difference on the overall out look or how the game looked. Where I don't necessarily think it would have looked as ugly if that didn't happen. I mean, twenty-four twenty, we would have took s say we took seven away. I mean, that's twenty four thirteen. I mean, maybe not twenty four thir maybe maybe it's not twenty one, maybe it's twenty. maybe it's twenty one thirteen instead of ⁓ you know, who who knows? But yeah. Jamal Smith: Better looking game. Mike: ⁓ I I I don't know. I I o I I think this is a get right game completely for us, especially if Caleb's not in it. I I I think we can really Risi: Well, I wouldn't put this in a get right game for me. To me, this is all risk. You're playing a good team and their starters out. ⁓ we win, we're supposed to. And if we lose, it's even to me, there's no like upside for this game, unfortunately. Even though it's a they're Chicago this was this was circled, right? This was gonna be the the test. This is the Yeah, this is In-Person: you you Paul Eaton: Mm-hmm. Jamal Smith: Yeah, yeah. Mike: Yeah. We all had this as a Paul Eaton: Yes. This and and don't forget about next week against the Rams that are coming here. So Mike: Yeah. Risi: Yeah, yeah. This is this is a test game, but it's not mont you know, it's I think it's when we played like sh ⁓ Commanders last year when Jada Daniel was out the first time. It's like ⁓ it's not really a full test 'cause you don't have their starting QB. So ⁓ this is just a this is only you can only win the game and and and that you're supposed to. Paul Eaton: Yeah. Mike: What do we think about the new ⁓ tight end matchup? For us versus them. Jamal Smith: Mm I like it. Paul Eaton: We don't know. We don't know. I mean we don't know what Zach ha Ertz has in the tanks. And certified he's but he hasn't done anything yet this year. Mike: Okay, here's the question. last year versus Goddard last year. Who do you think was a better tight end? Paul Eaton: I I I'll always take Goddard. Because Goddard blocks a triple ⁓ a double threat. Like he blocks and th and catches. Zach a catcher. He's not really that much of a blocker this much at this point in his career. So I would take I would take Goddard. Mike: Really? Risi: I think Mike: Yeah, h his blocking is weak, but but I I feel I I mean I've always felt overall that Zach was the better tight end all around Yeah, ⁓ tight end overall, I think. ⁓ would I like you know, I'm saying comparing, you know, career to career, right? and I ⁓ but but I think being a is something that might be a little bit better for us, especially this game. Giving Jalen a safety blanket get the ball away quick for the O line, it just looks like a fucking Swiss cheese. Paul Eaton: Catcher. Yeah, we're gonna need it. Yes. Jamal Smith: Yeah. Paul Eaton: Yeah, we're gonna need it. Risi: Yeah, and it's gonna be the matchup's gonna be like what? TJ Edwards, right? Because he's still there. And and Zacher. It's and I think Zacher, ⁓ two old guys. Yeah. And I'd put that in our favor, right? That's what I would I I'd put that in our favor. He's fresh. Yeah, so I think we got the we got the advantage there on on on that side. But again, you know, time back to your point, Paul. Like we don't know, right? Until the get the game start. But I would still we've got a lot of pieces in our favor, especially on the offensive side, as long as In-Person: you you Mike: Yep, yep, yep. Two old guys. They're two old guys. Y I agree. Jamal Smith: Yeah. Risi: that trench war to the mobile like our O line can can can give Jalen some time. And I looked at the weather on Chicago this weekend. It looks like it's gonna be gorgeous there. Something like sixty sixty nine clear. it looks like the winds are gonna calm down too, which are off the so it should be a it should be a good playing game. Should be good. Mike: Nice. All right, well, let's sum up some of these keys to the game. ⁓ number one, I think we all agree. Stop the run. Don't let Chicago control the game on the ground. Make him throw the ball. I would say contain the quarterback, but don't think that's necessary because we don't need to have them. we need to protect Jalen Hurts, keep him don't make him scramble. useach as the outlet. Devontae Smith, get him early. Have him catching some big plays. ⁓ let's win the turnover battle this week, guys. How about that? Paul Eaton: Yeah. It is zero. Risi: We we have zero by the way. Our defense has zero. Mike: Yeah. And we have four interceptions through two games. Risi: Yeah, this is almost like w all of our seasons with Jalen Hurts has been the opposite of this. Jalen's been super conservative, doesn't turn the ball over, and our defense has been getting the turnovers. You think about it, like we have flipped the script this year with Jalen and just the entire team this year. It's like it it's it's a little odd where Jalen's super conservative. ⁓ he doesn't throw in the middle. Now he throws in the middle, a couple turnovers, but we're still winning. And now our defense is not getting the turnovers like we're used to. Mike: And and I think we can't take their defense lightly. I mean, they held they did held ⁓ they held Minnesota to nine points. That that says something, dude. In-Person: you you Risi: They're legit. Paul Eaton: It's gonna be a great battle, great test for us. Yeah, I know Caleb. So I was just looking on FanDuel ⁓ they don't even have a quarterback listed as a bet. ⁓ And ⁓ yes, they have us No, we are underdogs by a point and a half. Usually the home team usually gets two points. So yeah, we are underdog. We're we're favored. I mean, underdog, we're getting one and a half points. ⁓ So Mike: Yeah. And they have us as the favorites. Risi: Ha ha ha. ⁓ Jamal Smith: ⁓ huh. Risi: Thr two points. Yeah, we are an underdog. Mike: Yeah. Risi: Well, I'm taking that now. Jamal Smith: Wow. Mike: Really? Risi: I mean look, this is a this is if I'm looking at this, it's the trenches again, right? Trenches wins the game and we got demolished. I I to me the key of the game is if I don't see Jalen Carter and Jordan Dale Paul Eaton: I'm reading that wrong. Go ahead. I've read that wrong. I've read that wrong. No, I've read that wrong. We are favored. Four and a half point favored. half point favor. I was like, wait a minute. I've read that wrong. Mike: Yeah you are. I was gonna say wait a minute. I was I just pulled it up. We're f we're four and a half points I was like that that sounds really suspect. I was like whew I was like we're not I was like wait a minute, what? Jamal Smith: Ha ha ha. Risi: Man, you had me second guessing everything. Jamal Smith: You had me depressed. I was down. Paul Eaton: Yeah. Yeah, okay. My bad. Down of a chess pat. Mike: All right, before we wrap up before before we wrap up, everybody gets a question. Jamal, what's the biggest thing you want to see from the Eagles against Chicago? Risi: It's on me. It's on me. Jamal Smith: What is the biggest so I wanna see the defense look a little bit more confident. We're in week three. You guys have had a chance to kind of, you know, get your sea legs. You should start to get to be a little bit more confident and start to mesh a bit more. that's what I want to see. I wanna see a defense that looks a little bit more reminiscent of the defense we saw last year in the year. Mike: Awesome. Chris, what's your biggest concern with the Eagles right now? Risi: My biggest concern with the Eagles right now, our defensive line, lack of turnovers and our defensive lines. My that's I need to see and I need to see them come up and I think for this week I wanna see without Caleb in, I wanna see them unleash un just unleash. Give me the linebackers in there, just just disruption everywhere. So th that's my biggest concern. In-Person: you you Mike: Paul, fantasy wise, who's your biggest eagle to watch this week? Paul Eaton: I was gonna go Bigsby, but I'm gonna go Wicks. He's familiar with them. He's played against Chicago for years, for years and years. Yep, yep, yep. So ⁓ yep, so I'm going Mr. Wicks. ⁓ Mike: Okay. ⁓ yeah, good point. ⁓ and our offensive coordinator has played aga I didn't even think about that matchup. Alright, Jamal, take us to our wins and losses last week. What did we have? Jamal Smith: boy, let us take a look. So w we all picked win. We all picked win last week and we all fine. Two and two and ⁓ we're doing our thing. Well ⁓ Mike: So we're all we're all two and ⁓ huh? Except for Paul. Paul had a tie, right? Risi: Ha ha ha. ⁓ Paul Eaton: Yeah, that was the old Paul, the old Paul, not the new Paul. Yes I was. Phew. Me too. Jamal Smith: Old Paul, ooh, he was in trouble. I'm glad new Paul came. He came to Jesus. Mike: All right. it for this week. Birds are two and ⁓ Ertz is back. Joe is still somewhere on vacation. ⁓ headed into Monday Night Football against the Bears. ⁓ sure you like the videos, subscribe, follow us on Instagram, bros on birds pod, on TikTok, bros on birds podcast. ⁓ email us bros on birdspod at gmail dot com. Until then, go birds. Risi: Go birds. Jamal Smith: Birds. Paul Eaton: Go birds.
