- 2:13Okay, so let's, let's get into our episode for today.
- 2:16First, let's talk about what I mean when I say the word
- 2:19soul, because this is one of those poetic words
- 2:22that people use in a lot of different ways.
- 2:24So here's how I define soul.
- 2:26I define soul as our own wider self.
- 2:29Some people like the term higher self.
- 2:31I like the term wider self
- 2:32because it's something we're a part of.
- 2:34Our soul is the essential essence of who we are,
- 2:39the wider light from which we come.
- 2:42Our soul is its own individual entity
- 2:45with its own qualities and characteristics.
- 2:49And our soul sends part of itself to this lifetime,
- 2:54to this place,
- 2:55and this time to live out an experience inside
- 2:59of our bodies here on this planet.
- 3:01So our soul's the part of us that is beyond this lifetime
- 3:05that encompasses all lifetimes that is, you know, sort
- 3:09of the truest essence of who we are in, in connection
- 3:12with our, our widest self, our widest knowing.
- 3:16So our soul is our, our self with a capital S.
- 3:20This is where we come from. This is our ultimate guide.
- 3:24This is something we're always a part of. We never leave.
- 3:27We can never depart from our own soul.
- 3:30We are always connected to our own soul.
- 3:32We are a part of our own soul.
- 3:34And our soul is really like the ultimate spirit guide in
- 3:37this lifetime because your soul knows why you came here,
- 3:41you know, what you are planning to do.
- 3:43Our souls can remind us of why we are here,
- 3:46which we all need reminding of every once in a while.
- 3:50So being able to be in communication
- 3:52with your soul is really about being able
- 3:54to be in communication with your own widest knowing,
- 3:57your own widest self, with the part of you that sees
- 4:00that big picture, that knows innately who you are
- 4:03and that trusts beyond, beyond all doubt
- 4:08that you are loved absolutely
- 4:10and unconditionally exactly as you are.
- 4:13Your soul understands your destiny.
- 4:17Your soul is holding all of the blueprints for all
- 4:21of the unfoldings that are
- 4:22possible for you in this lifetime.
- 4:25I just love this term soul to me.
- 4:26I mean, literally it's so soulful.
- 4:29And so I love this concept of connecting with our soul
- 4:32as a way to connect with this wider self.
- 4:36So why do we sometimes miscommunications from our soul?
- 4:39So our soul is always communicating with us.
- 4:41We don't come to this planet
- 4:43and then we're just like without any guidance or help.
- 4:45We never lose that connection to our soul.
- 4:49It's impossible to actually sever that connection.
- 4:53And so we're constantly receiving information,
- 4:57communication, and support from our soul, this wider part
- 5:00of us that wants to help us on our journey, wants to,
- 5:03to help us, you know, remember why we're here,
- 5:06continue down the path.
- 5:08Why do we sometimes miss these communications if they're
- 5:11happening all the time?
- 5:13Well, this is why. Our soul most often speaks in metaphor.
- 5:18This is one reason why I'm calling this podcast the
- 5:21metaphor of your soul.
- 5:23So our soul likes to speak in what we call metaphor.
- 5:27So just to define metaphor here
- 5:30so we're all on the same page, metaphor is a figure
- 5:32of speech that compares two different things
- 5:34by saying one thing is actually the other
- 5:37or actually like the other.
- 5:39If you want to get technical here with metaphor,
- 5:40we don't typically use like
- 5:41or as, that would be a simile, but you get the picture.
- 5:45Metaphor is comparing one thing to another.
- 5:48It is a way in language
- 5:52to express a concept
- 5:54that is inexpressible directly.
- 5:58So, you know, if you gaze into your child's eyes
- 6:03and they're so beautiful, you feel like you're whisked away
- 6:05and be like, her eyes, like I think about my, my child when,
- 6:09when she had been recently born.
- 6:12I was like, her, her eyes are like as deep as lochs.
- 6:16You know, her eyes are like these deep water
- 6:19lakes of Scotland.
- 6:21Like I, I remember saying that to someone like, oh,
- 6:24her eyes, like they're as deep as lochs, you know,
- 6:26as deep as these lakes.
- 6:28And, and so I'm using, in this instance,
- 6:32this is technically a simile, but stay with me here.
- 6:34We're just using metaphor as an overarching concept,
- 6:37but we're, we're using something to reference
- 6:42and express something that's inexpressible,
- 6:44that's actually bigger than direct words can fully capture.
- 6:48And it's only through making connection
- 6:50between those two things
- 6:52or between those set of things that we can start
- 6:55to grasp the totality of something that exists
- 6:58beyond the grasp of our language.
- 7:03And this is the language that our soul speaks in.
- 7:05This is the language that our soul has to speak in. Why?
- 7:10Because our soul remembers and sees the big picture.
- 7:15Our souls know, knows, you know, your soul knows
- 7:18who you've been in every lifetime, understands
- 7:21all the mysteries of existence, all the mysteries
- 7:24that we come here and purposely forget.
- 7:27And so imagine you're being that understands the widest view
- 7:31of reality, all of life's mysteries
- 7:34and mysteries of the universe,
- 7:35and you're trying to communicate to someone
- 7:39who has a language, you know,
- 7:41whether you're talking about actual lizard,
- 7:43literal spoken language
- 7:44or just the language of that's accessible in our brains,
- 7:47you know, the language of how we view things,
- 7:49being in a body that is m- much, much, much more limited.
- 7:53How do you do this? How do you express something
- 7:57that is literally beyond in some ways our, our ability
- 8:00to grasp in this lifetime?
- 8:01And that's for a purpose, right?
- 8:02We come here, we place the veil of forgetting on
- 8:04so we forget who we are and where we come from.
- 8:07That's like part of the fun.
- 8:09I'm doing some air quotes, part of the fun of being here.
- 8:14It's part of, it's part of the, the,
- 8:15you know, it's part of the story.
- 8:18It's part of the experience.
- 8:20How do we then, how do we then guide this part of ourselves?
- 8:23How would our, how would a soul,
- 8:24how would a wider self guide then this part of us
- 8:26that purposely is here
- 8:28to be disconnected from that wider view?
- 8:30Well, you have to speak in metaphor.
- 8:32You have to speak in a way that references, that helps that,
- 8:36that person grasp the,
- 8:38the bigger reality from which you're communicating.
- 8:41So our soul can communicate with us in our dreams
- 8:45through signs
- 8:47and synchronicities, through inner nudge, nudgings,
- 8:51you know, gut feelings, intuitions,
- 8:54things other people say to us.
- 8:56But why we often miss it is that we miss that the,
- 8:59the language is one of metaphor,
- 9:01that we're actually not looking for.
- 9:05It's, that most often it's not super direct messages.
- 9:09Sometimes it can, this can happen for people,
- 9:10especially if you are, you know, claircognizant, if
- 9:13that's how you receive.
- 9:14But for most people, the soul speaks in metaphor.
- 9:20And you know, one of the things about metaphors is
- 9:24that they capture layers of reality.
- 9:27A metaphor can have several meanings at once.
- 9:31You know, for example, if I talked about my daughter's eyes
- 9:33and I said, you know, they were dark and deep.
- 9:35You're like, okay, dark and deep.
- 9:37But if I say they're, they were as dark and mysterious
- 9:41and fathomless as a, a deep loch, it's like there are layers
- 9:45of meaning there, right?
- 9:46There's, there's depth, there's mystery, there's profundity.
- 9:51There's, there's that edge of the unknown.
- 9:53There's the connotations that we have with the word loch,
- 9:56especially if you're not Scottish.
- 9:58You know, we think about the Loch Ness monster.
- 10:00Like we think about these like deep mysteries of existence,
- 10:04you know, like the, the complete unknown.
- 10:05And so when I say that, I'm, I'm like referencing a, a truth
- 10:09and a reality that is so much more vibrant and complex
- 10:14and multilayered than if I would just say her
- 10:16eyes were dark and deep.
- 10:18And so this is why our soul likes to speak in metaphor
- 10:21because it can hold more layers of meaning.
- 10:24And it's closer to the truth of
- 10:27the reality from which our soul is communicating,
- 10:29which is this wider reality that is beyond our
- 10:34language's ability to directly conceptually grasp.
- 10:39Another really beautiful thing about metaphors
- 10:41and why I think it's our soul's preferred method
- 10:44of communication is the way in which metaphors create
- 10:47connection and create relationship.
- 10:49Relationship is at the, the most basic like level
- 10:54of this reality of our planet.
- 10:56We come here to experience having a self,
- 10:59like an individuated self.
- 11:01What an interesting concept.
- 11:03And then through having the self be able
- 11:05to encounter others in relationship.
- 11:08It's a very creative process of individuation, separation,
- 11:12and then being able to relate.
- 11:14How does this relationship work?
- 11:15What happens in the in between?
- 11:18And so because we come here on this planet
- 11:20to have relationship, the beautiful part of metaphor is
- 11:25that it automatically creates connection.
- 11:27It creates relationship. It's comparing two things.
- 11:30This is like this. Well, how are these two things similar?
- 11:34You know, if this is its own entity
- 11:35and this is its own entity, well then
- 11:38where do these two places meet?
- 11:39It gets our brains started, starting
- 11:41to think in the language of relationships
- 11:43and connection, which is really where all healing
- 11:46and revelation and realization happen.
- 11:49And just through deciding to look more for the metaphor,
- 11:54to, to embrace metaphor more fully in your life,
- 11:57you're coming into, to deeper connection as well
- 12:00with your own soul.
- 12:02You're, you're developing and deepening that relationship.
- 12:06It's a very handy tool, right, to describe the,
- 12:09the indescribable.
- 12:11And on, I think, maybe perhaps the most poetic level
- 12:16of why our soul likes to speak a metaphor, it's
- 12:19because we are living inside
- 12:23of a metaphor on this planet.
- 12:25If you think about it, if you break it down,
- 12:27if you think about this concept of a metaphor as, you know,
- 12:31sort of using language
- 12:33and a construct to reference, to compare it to something,
- 12:37to reference something greater.
- 12:39It's like a, a microcosm of the macrocosm.
- 12:41Like, you know, you're comparing these two things
- 12:43so you can see the, the bigger whole.
- 12:46Well, all of reality is, is a metaphor for wider existence,
- 12:50you know, the physical reality.
- 12:53You know, this is all a manifestation of a metaphor
- 12:56for a wider existence that we can't fully capture in words
- 13:00and that we will never fully know while we are embodied
- 13:04and in this lifetime.
- 13:06That's, you know, like I said, it's part, that's part
- 13:08of the fun, that's part of the experience.
- 13:10And so leaning into metaphor is also leaning into the
- 13:14nature of reality.
- 13:15All of your life is a metaphor for the wider journey
- 13:20of your soul, the wider journey of your soul's own evolution
- 13:24and expression.
- 13:26So everything that also is happening in your life is, is
- 13:31referencing as well this wider journey
- 13:33and this wider expression
- 13:34and your soul's wider unfolding, which is
- 13:37so much bigger than even just this one individual lifetime.
- 13:40So of course, our soul's going to love to use metaphor for
- 13:43that reason as well
- 13:44because it helps attune us to the metaphor of reality
- 13:48and start to see even in sort of what we might perceive
- 13:52as the most simplistic
- 13:53or, you know, direct aspects of reality
- 13:56or mundane aspects of reality, this reference to the spirit
- 13:59of things, this reference to the unseen, this reference
- 14:02to something greater.
- 14:05So this, as I said, can come up in a lot of ways,
- 14:09but I've been thinking about this a lot recently
- 14:12as I've been getting back into doing more
- 14:16intuitive work, more one-on-one intuitive work,
- 14:19and really noticing how I've always worked in images,
- 14:24and you'll see
- 14:25that throughout my monthly intuitive readings,
- 14:28but just how important the metaphors of those images are
- 14:32and that the deeper I go into the metaphor that I'm given,
- 14:36the more layers will unveil itself.
- 14:38So here's just a little example.
- 14:40I was giving a reading for someone the other day,
- 14:45and I was shown a waterfall.
- 14:48And, you know, I could be very straightforward.
- 14:51I could be like, "Oh, are you. Do you live by a waterfall?
- 14:53Are you going to travel to a waterfall?" And you know,
- 14:56that those wouldn't be like incorrect, right?
- 14:59But I understand that the soul speaks in metaphor.
- 15:03And in, and in this reading, I was specifically connecting
- 15:06to this person's soul.
- 15:09And so I understood that this was a metaphor.
- 15:12And because it was being given to me, I also knew that,
- 15:17that their soul was using a lexicon
- 15:20or a dictionary of images
- 15:22that would help me to make sense of that.
- 15:24So for, for me, you know, I think of waterfalls as times of,
- 15:28you know, intensity where time moves faster,
- 15:30changes might happen kind of quickly
- 15:33where there's like a big shift from where you were to
- 15:36where you're going.
- 15:37It was time of like identity change, like literally the,
- 15:40a river's flowing and the, the waterfall happens
- 15:43and that's like a, that's a, a rupture, a shift.
- 15:46And so I was going through all these layers of meaning
- 15:49in my own life and in my own understanding
- 15:52and then communicating that to her.
- 15:54And it really stood out to me
- 15:57how if I hadn't thought of the metaphor
- 16:02of waterfalls
- 16:03and what, how I know waterfalls, what waterfalls evoke
- 16:06inside of me, I would've really missed
- 16:08some important messages for her
- 16:11and for, you know,
- 16:13the way in which her soul was communicating to her about
- 16:15what was going on in her life right now, which was a lot
- 16:17of change, which I didn't know about.
- 16:21So how do you speak the language of your soul then?
- 16:23You know, how, how do you start to speak the language
- 16:26of your soul in this way?
- 16:27Well, we, there is an importance here, right,
- 16:29in putting on our poet's cap, to start viewing life from
- 16:35this as if you were a poet.
- 16:37You know, understanding that we are all poets in this
- 16:39existence and, and, and really starting to, you know,
- 16:43think about things metaphorically to, you know, open up
- 16:47to the, the creativity that might be there, that expression.
- 16:50Instead of going beyond just, you know,
- 16:52the immediate direct response and, and opening our mind.
- 16:56There's a really beautiful saying
- 16:58that a good poem is like a net.
- 17:00What makes the poem is not the, the rope itself,
- 17:04but the space in between.
- 17:06I've always loved this so much.
- 17:09And so there's also this piece of leaving space in between,
- 17:14you know, when you receive, maybe you receive a message
- 17:17or you, you have a dream or you experience a synchronicity
- 17:20or sign in your life to give it space, to breathe, to,
- 17:24to understand that like there, there's so much meaning
- 17:28that can be relayed in just that one image
- 17:32or just that one experience.
- 17:34And so, you know, to, to realize
- 17:36that we make the connections that we need
- 17:38to make often when we give ourselves that space.
- 17:41So ways in which you can give yourself space.
- 17:44And then as I was talking about with the waterfall image
- 17:49that came to me in this reading, you know,
- 17:52you developing your own lexicon of, of images
- 17:55and metaphors is going to be important.
- 17:59You know, what does this mean for you?
- 18:01Because, and I, I say this a lot when I talk about dream
- 18:04work, but I think it's important in any intuitive work
- 18:06and in connecting with our own souls.
- 18:08Our souls, our wider self, they're going to communicate
- 18:10to us through our associations,
- 18:14through our life experiences, through, you know, the poetry
- 18:18of what we have experienced.
- 18:20And so notice what appears to you again and again,
- 18:24and what that means to you.
- 18:26You know, what is your association with waterfall?
- 18:29You might have done that reading differently.
- 18:31Or if your own wider self gave you that image, if you asked
- 18:35for an image and you were given that image
- 18:36or you asked a question
- 18:38and you received that, you
- 18:39know, what would that mean to you?
- 18:40Maybe you did have a waterfall in a park nearby growing up
- 18:44and you had a formative experience in that park,
- 18:46and so it's going to bring that up for you.
- 18:48Your own wider self will use that beautiful bank of wisdom
- 18:52and knowledge to create the most perfect metaphor.
- 18:56Our souls are very creative in this way.
- 18:57They love creating beautiful metaphors for us to step into
- 19:02and to unpack and to see the layers of.
- 19:04So, you know, start to notice that.
- 19:07Notice reoccurring themes in your dreams.
- 19:09You know, what, what shows up again and again?
- 19:11And what is cool is that the more we start
- 19:16to tune into those metaphors, the more we can sort
- 19:20of go past the first layer of communication
- 19:24and start to receive the additional layers.
- 19:26So here's an example. I, over the years, I've noticed
- 19:29that cars have a very specific meaning in my dreams.
- 19:32Now, I'm not a car person.
- 19:33Like if you ask me what car someone drives in my life,
- 19:37like it, I probably don't know.
- 19:39Like I probably can't name the make or the model.
- 19:42I could probably name the color maybe.
- 19:44But so I'm not very attuned to cars.
- 19:47So I know this about myself.
- 19:48So it was really interesting
- 19:49to me when I started having very specific dreams
- 19:52where cars figure prominently.
- 19:54And I realized pretty quickly that these dreams
- 19:57where there is a car, normally
- 20:01I'm in the backseat.
- 20:03And that is signaling to me like, "Asia,
- 20:06you're not in the driver's seat right now.
- 20:07There's actually someone else who's communicating
- 20:10to you right now through this dream." So it started with my
- 20:15several different grandparents of mine coming
- 20:17and driving the car, being in the front seat.
- 20:19I've had other dreams where living people are in the front
- 20:21seat, but I always know that when I'm, when I,
- 20:24when there's a car, it means
- 20:26that there's like a, this is a vehicle.
- 20:28It's a, it's a vehicle
- 20:29for a message that's trying to come through.
- 20:31And if I'm in the backseat, it often means that it's
- 20:35someone else, another consciousness coming in
- 20:37to communicate something to me.
- 20:39It's a visitation, so pay attention.
- 20:41And then, you know, once I understood this, then, you know,
- 20:45my own wider self
- 20:46and my guides,
- 20:48my ancestors started using the car in creative ways.
- 20:51So, so there would be, you know, issues in different parts
- 20:54of the car that would alert me to issues in different parts
- 20:56of my body, for example.
- 20:58So the more you can tune into your own lexicon of images
- 21:02the more that that dictionary will get deeper
- 21:05and you'll have, you'll have more words, right?
- 21:07It's like there'll be more words to express the poem.
- 21:10So start to write these down.
- 21:12Start to notice, you know, maybe you always see cardinals.
- 21:16You know, start to just note that.
- 21:18How do you feel when you see the cardinal?
- 21:20And what comes up for you?
- 21:21What is that connected to for you?
- 21:23Or, you know, maybe recently you've just been
- 21:25seeing rainbows everywhere.
- 21:27You know, take note of that.
- 21:28This is you developing your own spirit dictionary.
- 21:32And so once you become aware of this, then it's going
- 21:35to be easier to understand and receive these messages.
- 21:39Also, a really important thing with poetry in general,
- 21:43including the, the poetry of our own souls
- 21:45and these metaphors that come through is
- 21:47to notice how you feel.
- 21:49You know, good poetry is not, I, in my opinion,
- 21:53about the expertise of how words are used.
- 21:57That's fun. That can be part of the creative process,
- 22:00but good poetry is good because you feel something.
- 22:04You don't even need to know what the poem is about.
- 22:08You don't have to understand why the poet
- 22:10created every single line.
- 22:12You just need to know that you're feeling something.
- 22:14And the same is true with the metaphors
- 22:17that are being sent from our own soul.
- 22:19The same is true with this information that is coming in
- 22:22from our own wider selves.
- 22:24Notice what you feel. Tune into what you feel.
- 22:28You know, notice in life what has a feeling tone for you.
- 22:32You know, you could drive past a beautiful elm on the street
- 22:37and, you know, every time you pass it, just have a feeling.
- 22:41Someone else could drive past it
- 22:42and literally never notice that tree.
- 22:44But you have a feeling every time you drive past it.
- 22:46Notice that feeling tone.
- 22:47Notice what gives you goosebumps, what makes you stop,
- 22:50what strikes you as particularly beautiful.
- 22:52These are all parts of this lexicon of the, the metaphors
- 22:57that your soul will use to communicate with you.
- 23:00So, you know,
- 23:02these are all ways in which our soul will come in
- 23:04and gift us messages, again, in dreams,
- 23:07through signs, through synchronicities.
- 23:09But we can also ask. Keep asking. Ask for dreams.
- 23:13You know, ask for a, a sign or,
- 23:16or a synchronicity in your life.
- 23:18This is part of the rules of existences that we need to ask.
- 23:21So ask and then be open.
- 23:23Ask and put on that poet's cap, put the feather in your cap
- 23:27for whatever you'd like to use here,
- 23:28whatever metaphor makes sense for you.
- 23:31And, and see what metaphor comes in.
- 23:33You know, I even like doing these metaphorical walks
- 23:37where I ask a question and then I do a walk in nature
- 23:40and I just see who shows up, what appears to me.
- 23:43And, and what appears in a way where then I have an emotion
- 23:46or a feeling come up.
- 23:47And I know that this is part of the metaphors of
- 23:50what is being expressed to me, what is being shared with me.
- 23:53After I take these walks, I often will come back
- 23:57and I just write whatever it is that stood out to me.
- 24:00Writing is a really good tool to translate
- 24:03what might come in and feel like a little nebulous
- 24:07and to translate it into reality.
- 24:09And so some of you might be very clairvoyant.
- 24:12You might really see these images,
- 24:15but for a lot of us, it's actually more
- 24:17of like a feeling sense.
- 24:18Like I feel like I'm sitting by a waterfall, for example.
- 24:22Or, you know, I, I, in the case of this walk, you know,
- 24:26like I, a branch fell down and I,
- 24:29and I felt this swooping feeling inside of me
- 24:31that actually felt very liberating.
- 24:33So again, like a feeling sense inside of you.
- 24:36So you might, it might come in more as that.
- 24:39Sometimes people are more clair audient.
- 24:41They might like hear something, hear song lyrics,
- 24:44or hear like a snippet of poetry in connection
- 24:47with something, but all of this is metaphorical.
- 24:50So when you come back from this walk
- 24:52in this specific example, sit down
- 24:55and write down whatever occurred to you,
- 24:56especially if it had a feeling tone
- 24:58and just like free associate.
- 25:00That free association, like this is often the poetry
- 25:04that I love the most.
- 25:05It makes these really beautiful leaps.
- 25:07Again, this idea of like the,
- 25:09a good poem being like a good net.
- 25:11What makes it a good net is the space in between.
- 25:13They make these leaps and in the leap part, that's, that's
- 25:17where all the beauty happens.
- 25:18We go from this to this
- 25:19and whoa, something just happened inside of me.
- 25:22And so when we free associate
- 25:25after, for example, going on one of these walks,
- 25:28I call them oracle walks often.
- 25:30If going on an oracle walk, asking a question,
- 25:32and you come home and you just free associate, you know,
- 25:36whatever, whatever happened, note it down, free associate.
- 25:39Yet free association, just that idea, that idea, that thing,
- 25:42that image, that, those words, that is you creating poetry.
- 25:45That is you grasping the more metaphorical meaning behind
- 25:49what you just experienced.
- 25:51And you know, how will you know that you have like really,
- 25:57you know, hit on your soul's meaning
- 25:59or the intent behind that metaphor is it'll be a feeling.
- 26:03There will be like a feeling of like peace,
- 26:08but also like rightness
- 26:11and excitement that it's, it's like a feeling of
- 26:15settledness, but also expansion at the same time.
- 26:19And so just start to notice and like chart your feelings.
- 26:23And sometimes we kind of have to catch ourselves like
- 26:26a little unaware because our brain can want to insert itself
- 26:30and overthink things.
- 26:32And this is why I love things like walking
- 26:35and the free association writing.
- 26:36Also dreaming because it kind
- 26:39of puts our conscious mind a little bit in that backseat
- 26:43and it allows us to be a little more open.
- 26:47So sometimes people ask me this question of like,
- 26:49how do I know it's not, you know, my conscious mind
- 26:52or, you know, really it's more of like,
- 26:54how do I know it's not my like worried mind,
- 26:58my fearful mind, my anxiety coming in?
- 27:00Well, because normally those, those associations
- 27:03or those messages will come in with a feeling of fear,
- 27:07urgency, criticism, judgment.
- 27:09And that's how we know that that's our brain trying to,
- 27:13you know, control the message, control the situation, trying
- 27:16to protect us from danger.
- 27:18And like, you know, God bless our brain.
- 27:19It's our brain has a purpose.
- 27:22And in this instance, you know, we want to free ourselves.
- 27:25This is why we're putting on the poet's cap.
- 27:26It's not about, you know, figuring it out.
- 27:30That's not the energy behind poetry.
- 27:32That's not the energy behind metaphor.
- 27:34It's about experiencing it.
- 27:36It's about being open to like the wonder of the layers
- 27:40of meaning inherent to, you know, that,
- 27:42that one single metaphor.
- 27:46You know, ultimately, you know, your soul itself
- 27:51is also this beautiful metaphor for
- 27:56an inexplicable level of reality for, you know,
- 28:02your soul is unique and entire unto itself.
- 28:06And it is referencing this reality
- 28:10of the divine that, you know, we in our lifetimes are here
- 28:15to experience mostly through a veil, through, you know,
- 28:20these interesting layers of being here in a body
- 28:22and being here on this planet.
- 28:24But your, your soul is poetry in that way, contains poetry.
- 28:28The, the poem of who you are is whole and intact
- 28:31and can, can never be diminished, can never be destroyed.
- 28:35And, and that font of poetry that is your own soul will
- 28:40forever be giving you these metaphors to help you understand
- 28:43who you are, why you're here,
- 28:45and why you chose to come be here in this existence.
- 28:50So there's this really beautiful quote from the movie Bright
- 28:53Star that is attributed
- 28:55to John Keats in, in one of his letters.
- 28:58And the, the quote that I love goes like this,
- 29:01"A poem needs understanding through the senses.
- 29:04The point of diving in the lake is not immediately to swim
- 29:07to the shore, but to be in the lake,
- 29:09to luxuriate in a sensation of water.
- 29:12You do not work the lake out.
- 29:14It is an experience beyond thought.
- 29:16Poetry soothes and emboldens the soul to accept mystery.
- 29:21And I think ultimately this is why our soul communicates
- 29:26with us through metaphor,
- 29:28because our own soul is soothing
- 29:32and emboldening us to accept the mystery of reality, to
- 29:36orient ourselves to the fact that the point
- 29:40of being here on this planet is not to figure it out,
- 29:45but to be in the lake, to be in the experience, to,
- 29:49you know, be here
- 29:50and in whatever way we can luxuriate in the sensation
- 29:56of water, this sensation, the experience of being here
- 29:59that is a temporal, that is brief,
- 30:02that is something our soul was really interested
- 30:04in experiencing, and so we wade in.
- 30:07We waited into the lake
- 30:09and here we are in the midst experiencing it.
- 30:12And our soul is simply asking us to be here in the midst
- 30:17of the mystery of it all and know that there is meaning.
- 30:22So thank you so much for listening.
- 30:26Thank you so much for being here on this planet, for all
- 30:29of the beauty that you are pouring into this world.
- 30:32I do have a big announcement, which is
