- 0:46Let's begin.
- 0:49Second Chronicles chapter 16. basher was king of Israel. He
- 0:54marched out against Judah. It was in the 36th year of ACEs
- 0:59rule over Judah, Basha built up the walls of Rhema. He did it to
- 1:03keep people from entering or leaving the territory of Asa,
- 1:06the king of Judah. Asa took the silver and gold from among the
- 1:11treasures of the Lord's temple and his own palace. He sent it
- 1:14to Ben Hey, Dad, Ben, Hey, Dad was king of Aram. He was ruling
- 1:19in Damascus. Let's make a peace treaty between us. Asa said my
- 1:24father and your father had made a peace treaty between them. Now
- 1:27I'm sending you silver and gold. So break your treaty with Baisha
- 1:31the king of Israel then he'll go back home. Then he dad agreed
- 1:35with King ASA. He sent his army commanders against the towns of
- 1:39Israel. His army captured I John Dan, Abraham and all the cities
- 1:44in NAFTA ally were Bay Usha stored things Bay Usha heard
- 1:48about it so he stopped building up Rhema and left that place.
- 1:52Then King ASA brought all the men of Judah to Rhema they
- 1:56carried away the stones and wood Bay Usha had been using as a use
- 2:00them to build up Kiba and Mizpah. At that time, Hanina the
- 2:05Prophet came to Asa, the king of Judah. He said to him, You
- 2:09trusted the king of Aram, you didn't trust in the Lord your
- 2:12God. So the army of the king of Aram has escaped from you. The
- 2:16people of Kush and Libya had a strong army. They had large
- 2:20numbers of chariots and horsemen, but you trusted in the
- 2:23Lord, so he handed them over to you. The Lord looks out over the
- 2:27whole earth, He gives strength to those who commit their lives
- 2:30completely to Him. You have done a foolish thing from now on, you
- 2:34will be at war. Asa was angry with a prophet because of what
- 2:38he had said. In fact, he was so angry, he put him in prison. At
- 2:42that same time, Asa treated some of his own people very badly.
- 2:47The events of ACEs rule from beginning to end are written
- 2:50down. They are written in the records of the kings of Judah
- 2:53and Israel. In the 39th year of ACEs rule, his feet began to
- 2:58hurt. The pain was terrible. But even though he was suffering, he
- 3:02didn't look to the Lord for help. All he did was go to the
- 3:05doctors. In the 41st year of ACEs rule, he joined the members
- 3:09of his family who had already died. He was buried in a tomb.
- 3:14He had it cut out for himself in the city of David. His body was
- 3:17laid on a wooden frame. It was covered with spices in different
- 3:21mixtures of perfume. A huge fire was made to honor in
- 3:25Second Chronicles chapter 17. Jehoshaphat was the son of Asa
- 3:31Jehoshaphat became the next king after him. He made his kingdom
- 3:35strong in case Israel would attack him. He placed troops in
- 3:38all the cities of Judah that had high walls around them, he
- 3:42stationed some soldiers in Judah. He also put some in the
- 3:45towns of Ephrem that his father isa had captured. The Lord was
- 3:49with Jehoshaphat. That's because he lived the way King David had
- 3:53lived. He didn't ask for advice from the gods that were named
- 3:56Baal. Instead, Jehoshaphat obeyed the God of his father, he
- 4:01obeyed the Lord's command instead of the practices of
- 4:03Israel. The Lord made the kingdom secure under Jehoshaphat
- 4:07control. All the people of Judah brought gifts to Jehoshaphat so
- 4:12he had great wealth and honor. His heart was committed to
- 4:15living the way the Lord wanted him to. He removed the high
- 4:18places from Judah. He also removed the poles used to
- 4:21worship the female god named Ashura. In the third year of his
- 4:26rule, he sent his officials to teach in the towns of Judah. The
- 4:30officials were Ben Hale, Obadiah Zechariah, Nathanael and Mikayla
- 4:35some Levites were with them. Their names were Shamea Natha,
- 4:39nya, Zebedee, Jaya Sal shamira Moth, Jonathan at a Nyjah
- 4:45Tibaijuka and Tabatha Nyjah, Alicia and Jehoram the priests
- 4:50were also with them. They taught people all through Judah. They
- 4:54took the book of the law of the Lord with them. They went around
- 4:57to all the towns of Judah and they taught the people bought
- 5:00all the kingdoms of the lands around you to became afraid of
- 5:03the Lord. So they didn't go to war against Jehoshaphat. Some
- 5:07Philistines brought to Jehoshaphat the gifts and silver
- 5:10he required of them. The Arabs brought him their flocks. They
- 5:14brought him 7700 grams and 7700 Goats Jehoshaphat became more
- 5:21and more powerful. He built forts in Judah. He also built
- 5:25cities in Judah, where he could store things. He had large
- 5:28supplies in the towns of Judah. In Jerusalem, he kept men who
- 5:32knew how to fight well. Here's the list of them family by
- 5:36family. from Judah, they were commanders of groups of 1001 of
- 5:41them was adna. He commanded 300,000 fighting men. Another
- 5:46was G Hainan, he commanded 280,000. Another was at Messiah,
- 5:52the Son of zikr. I am Messiah commanded 200,000 He had offered
- 5:57to serve the Lord. From Benjamin. They were also
- 5:59commanders. One of them was Elijah. He was a brave soldier.
- 6:04He commanded 200,000 men, they were armed with bows and
- 6:07shields. Another was Jehovah bad, he commanded 280,000 men,
- 6:13they were prepared for battle. These were the men who served
- 6:17the king. He stationed some other men in the cities all
- 6:20through Judah, the cities had high walls around them.
- 6:24Second Chronicles chapter 18. Jehoshaphat had much wealth and
- 6:30honor and he made an agreement with King Ahab through marriage.
- 6:34A few years later, Jehoshaphat went to visit Ahab and Samaria,
- 6:38Ahab sacrificed many sheep and cattle as a great feast to honor
- 6:42Jehoshaphat and the people with him. He encouraged Jehoshaphat
- 6:46to attack Ramoth in Gilead, Ahab, king of Israel, ask
- 6:50Jehoshaphat king of Judah, will you go back with me to attack
- 6:54Ramoth in Gilead? Jehoshaphat answered, I will go with you and
- 6:58my soldiers are yours. We will join you in the battle.
- 7:02Jehoshaphat also, said Ahab, but first we should ask if this is
- 7:06the Lord's will. So King Ahab called 400 prophets together and
- 7:11ask them, should we go to war against Ramoth in Gilead or not?
- 7:15They answered, Go because God will hand them over to you. But
- 7:19Jehoshaphat asked, isn't there a prophet of the Lord here? Let's
- 7:22ask him what we should do. Then King Ahab said to Jehoshaphat
- 7:27there is one other prophet, we could ask the Lord through him,
- 7:30but I hate him. He never prophesized anything good about
- 7:34me, but always something bad. He is Makayla, son of EMLA.
- 7:38Jehoshaphat, said King Ahab, you shouldn't say that. So Ahab,
- 7:43king of Israel told one of his officers to bring Makayla to and
- 7:46at once Ahab, king of Israel and Jehoshaphat king of Judah had on
- 7:51their royal robes and we're sitting on their throne to the
- 7:54threshing floor near the entrance to the gate of Samaria.
- 7:57All the prophets were standing before them speaking their
- 8:00messages. Zedekiah Sunak Anana had made some iron horns. He
- 8:05said to Ahab, this is what the Lord says, you will use these
- 8:09horns to fight the era man's until they are destroyed. All
- 8:13the other prophets said the same thing. Attack Rey myth and
- 8:16Gilead and when because the Lord will hand the Arameans over to
- 8:20you, the messenger who had gone to get Mikayla said to him, all
- 8:24the other prophets are saying King Ahab will when you should
- 8:27agree with them and give the king a good answer. But Mikayla
- 8:30answered, as surely as the Lord lives, I can tell him only what
- 8:34my God says. When Mikayla came to Ahab, the king asked him,
- 8:39Makayla, should we attack Ramoth in Gilead or not? Okay, I
- 8:44answered, attack and when they will be handed over to you. But
- 8:48they have said to Mikayla, how many times do I have to tell you
- 8:52to speak only the truth to me in the name of the Lord? So Mikayla
- 8:55answered, I saw the army of Israel scattered over the hills
- 8:59like sheep without a shepherd. The Lord said, they have no
- 9:03leaders, they should go home and not fight. Then Ahab king of
- 9:07Israel said to Jehoshaphat I told you, he never prophesized
- 9:11anything good about me, but only bad. But Mikayla said, hear the
- 9:16message from the Lord. I saw the Lord sitting on his throne with
- 9:20his heavenly army standing on his right and on his left, the
- 9:23Lord said, Who will trick King Ahab of Israel into attacking
- 9:28Ramoth in Gilead where he will be killed? Some said one thing,
- 9:32some said another. Then one Spirit came and stood before the
- 9:35Lord and said, I will trick him. The Lord asked, how will you do
- 9:39it? The spirit answered, I will go to Ahab's prophets and make
- 9:44them tell lies. So the Lord said, you will succeed in
- 9:48tricking him. Go and do it. Mikayla said, Ahab, the Lord has
- 9:52made your prophets lie to you. And the Lord has decided that
- 9:56disaster should come to you. Then Zedekiah Sana. Canadiana
- 10:00went up to Mikayla and slapped him in the face. Zedekiah said,
- 10:05Has the Lord spirit left me to speak through you? Mikayla
- 10:09answered, you will find out on the day you go to hide in an
- 10:12inside room. Then Ahab king of Israel ordered take McKenna and
- 10:17sent him to Amman, the governor of the city, and to Joash the
- 10:20king's son. Tell them I said to put this man in prison and give
- 10:24him only bread and water until I returned safely from the battle.
- 10:28Micaiah said, Ahab, if you come back safely from the battle, the
- 10:32Lord has not spoken through me. Remember my words all you
- 10:36people. So Ahab, king of Israel, and Jehoshaphat king of Judah
- 10:40went to Ramoth in Gilead. King Ahab said to Jehoshaphat I will
- 10:45go into battle but I will wear other clothes, so no one will
- 10:48recognize me, but you wear your royal clothes, so they have wore
- 10:52other clothes and they went into battle. The king of Aram ordered
- 10:56his chariot commanders don't fight with anyone important or
- 11:00unimportant, except the king of Israel. When these commanders
- 11:04saw Jehoshaphat, they thought he was the king of Israel, so they
- 11:08turned to attack him. But Jehoshaphat began shouting and
- 11:11the Lord helped him, God made the chariot commanders turn away
- 11:14from Jehoshaphat. When they saw he was not King Ahab, they
- 11:18stopped chasing him. By chance, a soldier shot an arrow which
- 11:23hit Ahab king of Israel between the pieces of his armor. King
- 11:27Ahab said to his chariot driver, turn around and get me out of
- 11:30the battle because I'm hurt. The battle continued all day, King
- 11:35Ahab held himself up in his chariot, and faced the era man's
- 11:38until evening. Then he died at sunset.
- 11:41Second Chronicles chapter 19 Jehoshaphat, king of Judah came
- 11:46back safely to his palace in Jerusalem. Ji Hoo, son of
- 11:50Hanina, a seer went out to meet him and said to the king, why
- 11:54did you help evil people? Why do you love those who hate the
- 11:58Lord? That is the reason the Lord is angry with you. But
- 12:01there is some good you, you took the Ashra idols out of this
- 12:05country and you have tried to obey God. Jehoshaphat lived in
- 12:10Jerusalem. He went out again to be with the people from
- 12:13Beersheba to the mountains of Ephram, and he turned them back
- 12:16to the Lord, the God of their ancestors. Josh Huff had
- 12:20appointed judges and all the land in each of the strong
- 12:23walled cities of Judah. Jehoshaphat said to them, watch
- 12:27what you do, because you are not judging for people, but for the
- 12:31Lord. He will be with you when you make a decision. Now let
- 12:35each of you fear the Lord. Watch what you do, because the Lord
- 12:38our God wants people to be fair, he wants all people to be
- 12:42treated the same, and he doesn't want decisions influenced by
- 12:46money. And in Jerusalem, Jehoshaphat appointed some of
- 12:50the Levites priests and leaders of Israelite families to be
- 12:53judges. They were to decide cases about the law of the Lord,
- 12:57and settled problems between the people who lived in Jerusalem.
- 13:01Jehoshaphat commanded them, you must always serve the Lord
- 13:05completely and you must fear him. Your people living in the
- 13:08cities will bring you cases about killing about teachings,
- 13:12commands, rules, or some other law. In all these cases, you
- 13:17must warn the people not to sin against the Lord. If you don't,
- 13:21he will be angry with you and your people. But if you warn
- 13:24them, you won't be guilty. Amariah the leading priest will
- 13:28be over you in all cases about the Lord. Zebedee, Jaya son of
- 13:32Ishmael, a leader in the tribe of Judah will be over you in all
- 13:36cases about the king. Also the Levites will serve as officers
- 13:40for you have courage. May the Lord be with those who do what
- 13:44is right.
- 13:45Second Chronicles chapter 20. Later, the Moabites, the
- 13:50Ammonites and some may tonight's game to start a war with
- 13:53Jehoshaphat some men came and told Jehoshaphat there is a
- 13:57large army coming against you from Edom, that are coming from
- 14:01the other side of the Dead Sea. They're already in has his own
- 14:04tamer, has his own tamer is also called in Getty, Josh if that
- 14:09became afraid, and he decided to ask the Lord what to do. He
- 14:13announced a time of fasting for everyone in Judah. The people of
- 14:17Judah came together to ask the Lord for help. They came from
- 14:20out of all the towns of Judah to ask for the Lord's help.
- 14:24Jehoshaphat was in the new courtyard of the Lord's temple.
- 14:27He stood up in the meeting of the people from Judah and
- 14:30Jerusalem and said, Lord God of our ancestors, you are the God
- 14:34in heaven. You rule over all the kingdoms in all the nations. You
- 14:38have power and strength. No one can stand against you. You are
- 14:42our God. You force the people living in this land to leave you
- 14:47did this in front of your people Israel. You gave this land to
- 14:50the descendants of Abraham forever. Abraham was your
- 14:53friend. His descendants lived in this land and built a temple for
- 14:57your name. They said if trebled comes to us the sword
- 15:01punishment, sicknesses or famine. We will stand in front
- 15:04of this temple and in front of you. Your name is on this
- 15:08temple. We will shout to you when we are in trouble, then you
- 15:11will hear and save us. But now here are men from Amman, Moab
- 15:15and mount seer. You would not let the Israelites enter their
- 15:19lands when they came out of Egypt. So the Israelites turned
- 15:22away and didn't destroy them. But see the kind of reward these
- 15:26people give us for not destroying them. They have come
- 15:29to force us out of your land that you gave to us. Our God
- 15:33punished those people. We don't have the strength to stop this
- 15:36large army that is coming against us. We don't know what
- 15:39to do. We're looking to you for help. All the men of Judas stood
- 15:43before the Lord with their wives, babies and children. Then
- 15:47the Spirit of the Lord came onto Hazel son of Zechariah Zechariah
- 15:51was the son of Binya the son of Isle, the son of Matt Denia. je
- 15:56zo was a Levite from the family of a SAF in the middle of the
- 16:00meeting to Hazel said, Listen to me, King Jehoshaphat and
- 16:04everyone living in Judah and Jerusalem. The Lord says this to
- 16:07you. Don't be afraid or worry about this large army because
- 16:12the battle is not your battle. It is God's battle. Tomorrow
- 16:15they will come up through this is paths. You must go down to
- 16:18them. You will find them at the end of the valley on the other
- 16:21side of the desert of Jerusalem. You will not have to fight this
- 16:25battle. Just stand there and watch the Lord save you, Judah
- 16:29and Jerusalem. Don't be afraid. Don't worry because the Lord is
- 16:32with you. So go out to stand against those people tomorrow.
- 16:37Jehoshaphat bowed with his face to the ground and all the people
- 16:40of Judah and Jerusalem bowed down before the Lord and
- 16:43worshipped him. The Levites from the Kohath family groups in the
- 16:47Cora family stood up to praise the Lord the God of Israel. They
- 16:50sing very loudly. Early the next morning Jehoshaphat army went
- 16:55out to the desert of Toccoa as they marched out Jehoshaphat
- 16:59stood there saying, listen to me men of Judah and Jerusalem. Have
- 17:03faith in the Lord your God and you will stand strong. Have
- 17:07faith in His prophets and you will succeed Jehoshaphat
- 17:10encouraged the men and gave them instructions. Then he had the
- 17:14temple singers stand up in their special clothes to praise the
- 17:17Lord. They marched in front of the army and saying, Give thanks
- 17:21to the Lord, His faithful love will last forever. As they began
- 17:25to sing into praise God, the Lord said an ambush for the army
- 17:28from Amman, Moab and mount SEER who had come to attack Judah.
- 17:32The enemy was defeated. The Ammonites and the Moabites
- 17:35started to fight them in from Mount seer. After they kill
- 17:38them, the Ammonites and Moabites turned on themselves and killed
- 17:41each other. The men from Judah arrived to the lookout point in
- 17:45the desert. They looked for the enemy's large army, but all they
- 17:48saw were dead bodies lying on the ground. There were no
- 17:51survivors. Jehoshaphat and his army came to take things from
- 17:55the bodies. They found many animals, riches, clothes, and
- 17:59other valuable things. It was more than Jehoshaphat in his
- 18:02army could carry away. There was so much that they spent three
- 18:06days taking everything from the dead bodies. On the fourth day
- 18:10Jehoshaphat and his army met in the valley of Barraca. They
- 18:13praise the Lord. That is why the people still call that place the
- 18:17Valley of Barraca. All the men from Judah and Jerusalem were
- 18:21very happy as they marched back to Jerusalem with Jehoshaphat in
- 18:24the front. The Lord made them very happy when they defeated
- 18:27their enemy. They entered Jerusalem with liars, harps and
- 18:31trumpets and went to the temple of the Lord. People in all the
- 18:35surrounding kingdoms became afraid of God when they heard
- 18:37that the Lord fought against the enemies of Israel. That is why
- 18:41there was peace for Josh of his kingdom. His God brought him
- 18:44rest from the enemies that were all around him. Jehoshaphat
- 18:48ruled over the country of Judah. He was 35 years old when he
- 18:51became king, and he ruled 25 years in Jerusalem. His mother's
- 18:56name was zuba, the daughter of Shell high like his father, Asa
- 19:01Jehoshaphat, was good and did everything that the Lord wanted
- 19:04except he did not destroy the high places. Also, the people
- 19:08did not turn back to the God their ancestors worshipped.
- 19:11Everything else. Jehoshaphat did from beginning to end is written
- 19:15in the official records of GE who sent off an AI. It was
- 19:19copied and included in the book The history of the kings of
- 19:21Israel. Later on King Jehoshaphat of Judah made an
- 19:25agreement with King a Messiah of Israel. A Hosea was very evil
- 19:31Jehoshaphat joined with a desire to make chips to go to the town
- 19:34of Tarshish. They built some chips that easy on Gerber. There
- 19:38was a man from the town of Maria named Eliezer, son of Dota Vu,
- 19:42he spoke against Jehoshaphat and said Jehoshaphat since you have
- 19:46joined with a Messiah, the Lord will destroy what you have
- 19:49built. The ships were wrecked so Jehoshaphat in a Uzziah we're
- 19:53not able to send them to Tarshish
- 19:57Well, King Jehoshaphat really got off on a good foot When he
- 20:00began his reign as king of Judah, didn't he? Chapter 17,
- 20:03three through six tells us, The Lord was with Jehoshaphat
- 20:07because he followed the ways of his father David before him,
- 20:10meaning David, his ancestor, as we read in chapter 16. King Asa
- 20:15was his actual father. The verses continue, he did not
- 20:19consult the bales, but sought the Lord of his father in
- 20:22followed his commands rather than the practices of Israel. So
- 20:26Jehoshaphat decided that he was going to be unlike some of the
- 20:29other kings and unlike the culture of his time, the
- 20:32Scripture continues, the Lord established the kingdom under
- 20:35his control, and all Judah brought gifts to jasha fat so
- 20:39that he had great wealth and honor, his heart was devoted to
- 20:42the ways of the Lord. Furthermore, he removed the high
- 20:45places, and the Asherah poles from Judah. Well, in removing
- 20:50these things, he demonstrated that he truly wanted to do what
- 20:53was right before the Lord. Because in taking down these
- 20:57places, he would have made many people angry, but he cared more
- 21:00about pleasing God than in pleasing people. And then just
- 21:03after that section, we read that in addition, Jehoshaphat sent
- 21:07men throughout the kingdom to teach the people the law of God.
- 21:11You see, the people had to be taught God's law, many had
- 21:14forgotten it or had had never been taught. That's one of the
- 21:17reasons that they had ash ripples in high places in the
- 21:20first place. Some of them didn't know any better. Well,
- 21:22Jehoshaphat was so serious about teaching people the law of the
- 21:26Lord that he set a delegation of at least 16 highly qualified men
- 21:30around the country to do the teaching. And commentator Adam
- 21:34Clarke wrote of this, thus the nation became thoroughly
- 21:37instructed in their duty to God to the king and to each other.
- 21:41They became therefore as one man and against a people thus united
- 21:46on such principles. No enemy could be successful. And then
- 21:50beloved, according to verse 10, of chapter 17, the fear of the
- 21:54Lord fell in all the kingdoms of the land surrounding Judas so
- 21:57that they did not go to war against Jehoshaphat. Yes, they
- 22:01became as one man, they were united, and they were seen as
- 22:05unbeatable. Of course, as we read, Jehoshaphat was not a
- 22:09perfect king, but God is merciful. And in chapter 20,
- 22:13verse 32, we read, He followed the ways of his father ASA, and
- 22:17did not stray from them. He did what was right in the eyes of
- 22:21the Lord. Well, we know from our reading that his father Asa was
- 22:24not perfect either, nor was King David. But all three of these
- 22:28men put their faith in God. And despite their failings, God says
- 22:32of them, they did what was right in the eyes of the Lord. Now,
- 22:37Beloved, if you're anything like me, when you fail to do that,
- 22:41which you know, God wants you to do, you have a tendency to beat
- 22:45yourself up, you get down on yourself, you let the enemy tell
- 22:50you that you're a hypocrite, a lousy Christian, a failure, that
- 22:54God is mad at you that he can't use a person like you. Now,
- 22:58please don't misunderstand when we stumble when we fall. It is good
- 23:02to face up to it. It's good to have remorse for our sin. That's
- 23:07the Holy Spirit bringing you to repentance. If we're not sorry
- 23:10for our sin, how can we be truly repentant. But as true as that
- 23:14is, it's also true that God wants to forgive us. He is not
- 23:19stingy with His grace. In Matthew 1821, and 22, we're
- 23:23told, then Peter came to Jesus and asked, Lord, how many times
- 23:28shall I forgive my brother or sister who sins against me? Up
- 23:31to seven times? And Jesus answered, I tell you, not seven
- 23:36times, but 77 times. So you don't think that Jesus would
- 23:40have told Peter to forgive like that, if he's not willing to do
- 23:43even more. All of a sin, beloved, we're still in these
- 23:47bodies of flesh. Were to strive to be perfect, but we're going
- 23:51to fail. And when we do, we must confess it. Repent, humbly and
- 23:57joyfully accept His forgiveness, and then move on. Don't look
- 24:01back, look up. Even with failures, we can be a person
- 24:06about who it is said they did what was right in the eyes of
- 24:10the Lord. What do you think? Go on over to Lifespring
- 24:13media.com/s 12 e 286. And tell me, tomorrow's Wednesday. That
