- 1:02So see everything there. So yeah, tonight we will be
- 1:08start starting in Hebrews Chapter 11 verse 20 is where
- 1:17we're going to start. Before we do though that do that
- 1:21though, I would have Melvin open us with a word of prayer.
- 1:25Sure, let's pray. Father, we come to you tonight
- 1:28and we just honor you and we thank you for this opportunity
- 1:33to dig into your word. And I just pray that your word
- 1:37would come alive to us tonight and Father, that we could
- 1:43understand maybe you and your word better and learn to trust
- 1:49You and to walk by faith and not by sight.
- 1:54And so, Father, we just pray for of the Spirit to guide us
- 1:58tonight as we go through your word.
- 2:00And most of all, Father, we thank you for redeeming us by
- 2:04the blood of Jesus and setting us free.
- 2:07So we just honor you and we glorify you 'cause you're so
- 2:10worthy of praise and honor and glory in Jesus name, Amen.
- 2:14All right. Thank you.
- 2:16Appreciate that. All righty.
- 2:20So here we are. We find ourselves about in the
- 2:24middle of the faith chapter. We've been going through each of
- 2:29these characters as we get to them and kind of talking about
- 2:33various things about them. So yeah, there's there's not a
- 2:40whole lot of running. This is a pretty continuous
- 2:43chapter that just pretty much wants to walk us through
- 2:48different examples of what God calls a precious substance, the
- 2:55substance of faith and lays it out in a multiple ways that we
- 3:01can see what he means when he asks us to believe him or what
- 3:06he asks us to have faith in his promises.
- 3:10And we can see how this was played out in all these
- 3:14different characters as lives here.
- 3:15That's that's why this book is here.
- 3:19I think that we can actually see by example how what it looked
- 3:24like in a person's lives. So with that, I'm kicking over
- 3:28to Aaron on verse 20 says by faith, Isaac blessed Jacob and
- 3:34Esau concerning things to come. And from what I could gather,
- 3:38that would have been that blessing that Esau or that Jacob
- 3:44had Esau had asked for what? He brought that food to his
- 3:47father there. Go ahead, Aaron.
- 3:49Yeah, no, I agree with that. That's what I was kind of
- 3:52looking at there earlier is here's the interesting thing
- 3:57that I don't really know the answer to is when when Rebecca
- 4:01was pregnant and she had like evidently turmoil inside of her.
- 4:08She goes and inquires the Lord and the Lord tells her you got
- 4:10two nations in you. The elder shall serve the
- 4:13younger, you know, remember like that's he tells that and I'm
- 4:16assuming she told Isaac that. Like, I don't know, it doesn't
- 4:20say, but I'm assuming she told Isaac that.
- 4:23And yet Isaac actually kind of struggles to give the blessing
- 4:28to the right person, has to be almost tricked into it.
- 4:31But the, but the one point, the only point I wanted to make
- 4:33about it is that once he did it, once he actually blessed the
- 4:36younger. And Esau comes in, he makes the
- 4:40comment, this is actually in chapter 20, Genesis chapter 27
- 4:44and verse 33. It says, and Isaac trembled very
- 4:47exceedingly and said who? This is when Esau actually comes
- 4:51in and says, he brought him food.
- 4:52He says, who? Where is he?
- 4:55Where is he that hath taken venison and brought it to me?
- 4:58And I have eaten of all, of all before thou camest and have
- 5:03blessed him. Yeah, and he shall be blessed.
- 5:07Like that's what I think is interesting is even though he
- 5:11had this struggle of blessing the right son, when he did it,
- 5:15he said it's going to be that way, right?
- 5:17You know what I mean? Like, yeah, he will be blessed.
- 5:20Like that is going to happen. And I know you didn't read the
- 5:23verse, but I kind of see that in the next verse as well.
- 5:26Verse 21, when it talks about Jacob blessing both the sons of
- 5:31Joseph, you know, they are really, you could say they're
- 5:36agreeing with what God has already said, right?
- 5:39Like they're agreeing with what God has already prophesied is
- 5:43going to happen when they hand out these blessings.
- 5:46So it is, I guess in, in specifically in verse 20 in
- 5:52Isaac's case, he recognized God's blessing was going to be
- 5:57the way it was, even if it wasn't really what he wanted.
- 5:59You know what I mean? Like he was willing to do that
- 6:02by faith, even if that wasn't really he really loved Esau
- 6:05more, but he was willing to recognize the blessing was going
- 6:09to fall on Jacob instead of Esau.
- 6:11But. Yeah.
- 6:12And, and he honored, honored it. You know, he did, he did change
- 6:17course, which, you know, I don't know how those blessings, I'm
- 6:20not real familiar with that blessing.
- 6:23Obviously it's a big deal because, you know, I mean, it
- 6:26changes that. It probably does.
- 6:27To this day, I don't, I don't know that we probably really
- 6:30understand the weight of a blessing on someone's lives
- 6:34versus not having a blessing. I, I know that in my very own
- 6:39life, I feel like I'm very blessed, more than I was prior
- 6:46to being a child of God. You know, just in so many ways,
- 6:49like things that I can't explain or things that I don't know,
- 6:52could have probably been different, but I'm just blessed.
- 6:55And so, yeah, that that's a a blessing is a very real thing in
- 6:59it. That's kind of body holing
- 7:01there. But I think it's a relevant part
- 7:03of the, the, the scripture here. It's, you know, the context is
- 7:08faith. But he's talking about a
- 7:09blessing that he could not or would not reverse, even though
- 7:13he probably would have preferred to if he could have.
- 7:16Yeah, Yeah, that's right. Yeah.
- 7:19Yeah, I'm, I'm going to come at it and live at a different
- 7:22angle, I guess. So in my mind, it's like, you
- 7:27know, before he was describing, you know, Noah and Sarah and
- 7:35Abraham, you know, and now he jumps to Isaac, you know,
- 7:40blessing Jacob and easel. And in my mind I'm like, so why
- 7:44is he even like bringing this up?
- 7:47Like it seemed, I guess what I'm getting at is it seems like a
- 7:50small thing here that Isaac did right.
- 7:55Like when we think of Noah, like he, everyone thinks of Noah's
- 7:58having great faith because he built this boat when it didn't
- 8:01rain and all this and that. So I guess to me when I look at
- 8:06this, it says by faith, Isaac blessed Jacob and Esau from
- 8:11turning the things to come. That's all it says.
- 8:13I mean, it doesn't give us a lot of detail.
- 8:15It just, it just says that by faith Isaac blessed.
- 8:18And So what the point I want to come to is that it to me, even
- 8:25these in these next verses, it seems like just kind of small
- 8:29things here that he's putting in here that happened like small
- 8:32happening, so to speak that he's talking about.
- 8:35And so to me, it shows me to me that God is he.
- 8:40It doesn't matter if you're faithful in the small things.
- 8:44God sees that, right? And he honors that.
- 8:48And because it says, I, I was going to look it up and I, I
- 8:51couldn't find the verse quickly. It says it's something in
- 8:56regards of if you're faithful in the small things, then God will,
- 9:02you know, give you bigger things.
- 9:04I think it might even say there he gives you cities to rule.
- 9:07I don't know if it that's I might be mixing that up.
- 9:09But my point is, is that when we are faithful in the small
- 9:14things, God sees that and he honors that right?
- 9:18So. Yeah, because Isaac is kindly A
- 9:22middleman, if you will. No worries.
- 9:24He's not Abraham that got the promise originally.
- 9:27He's not Jacob that winds up having the 12 son.
- 9:30I mean, yeah, Jacob that winds up having the 12 sons.
- 9:33He's kindly in the middle there. But he continued to pass on
- 9:38what? That's why I said that God did
- 9:40prophecy to Rebecca that the elders shove the younger and he
- 9:45that's right, that he was in a little bit of a struggle with
- 9:48it, but he but once it happened, he's like, oh, that is the way
- 9:51it's going to happen. Like I can't undo it.
- 9:52That is the way that is God's choice, and it will be that way.
- 9:56Yeah, what what I struggle to see there is what what faith
- 10:01that the author is writing about.
- 10:04Yeah, exactly. Faith to to recognize the
- 10:09mistake and leave it that way. As yeah, yeah, I think.
- 10:12So, oh, I do too, because that's I'm telling you, when Esau is
- 10:15crying in there saying can't you do something?
- 10:18He's like, no, I can't, you know, like I can't.
- 10:22I'm sorry. That is the way it's going to be
- 10:23like I have pronounced what God has said, and it will be that
- 10:27way, Yeah, Even though me and you both didn't want it that
- 10:31way, right? Yeah, that's, that's a good
- 10:33point. I and yeah, I appreciate you
- 10:35bringing that up now. But because really life isn't
- 10:38about being this great mighty man filled with faith.
- 10:42It actually is living a life of faith, which includes a lot of
- 10:47small little things that you just go with.
- 10:50Yeah, that's a very good point. Like that.
- 10:53Yeah, 21 by faith Jacob when he was a dying blessed both the
- 10:57sons of Joseph and worshiped leading upon the top of his
- 11:01staff. Any additional comments you
- 11:04touched on that just a little Eric already?
- 11:06Yeah. I mean, just just the fact that
- 11:08he, because that actually happened, right?
- 11:11I mean, Joseph's two sons. Joseph gets a double blessing,
- 11:16right? You know what I mean?
- 11:17Like he, he excludes one tribe and gives a double blessing to
- 11:20Joseph. And I think that that's he
- 11:23didn't really have a struggle with it.
- 11:24Jacob didn't really have a struggle with this like Isaac,
- 11:26his father did. But he is pronouncing what God
- 11:31has promised. And I think that that's the
- 11:34thing that I see by faith here is, you know, like as he's
- 11:38dying, he pronounces what God has promised and worships.
- 11:41Like in the middle of the pronouncement, he worships God
- 11:45leaning upon top of his staff, you know, so he is, I guess you
- 11:49could say in, in my opinion, Jacob is kindly one of these
- 11:53guys that finishes well, whereas a lot of other people almost
- 11:58don't finish well. You know, he's, he's about ready
- 12:00to die leaning on top of his staff and he's still pronouncing
- 12:03what God has said. Which means that he believed.
- 12:07Yeah. I mean, he obviously heard that
- 12:08God had told this, and he obviously believed that if he
- 12:12wouldn't have, he would not have passed on that supposed
- 12:14blessing. Yeah.
- 12:15Yeah, Melvin. Yeah, I don't have a whole lot
- 12:19there. I just that kind of stood out to
- 12:22me too, where he said and then he worshiped leaning, leaning
- 12:25upon the top of his staff. And if you look up that account
- 12:29there where Jacob blessed both the sons of Joseph, he was a
- 12:33very old man and was about to die.
- 12:35And so like, like you said, he finished well.
- 12:38But what was interesting to me is it says there he worshiped
- 12:42leaning upon the top of his staff, right?
- 12:45So I mean, worship can be in so many different ways, you know,
- 12:50in your life. It it's not a certain position
- 12:53or a certain way or whatever. So it's just interesting.
- 12:57He was about over the hill, just just got hit, yeah.
- 13:01Yeah, he couldn't get down on his knees and worship anymore.
- 13:04He had to lean on his staff. Yeah, Yeah, yeah.
- 13:08That's. Good.
- 13:09But I I guess I would just say that too.
- 13:12That it is. I don't really know.
- 13:15I've thought a lot about that blessing deal and I don't really
- 13:18know, but I know this. I think this is different.
- 13:22Both of these things. I what Isaac did and what Jacob
- 13:25did is different than just some general wishing good on your
- 13:30chill. This they are proclaiming what
- 13:34God is going to do, right? In other words, they're, they're
- 13:37it said concerning things to come for Isaac.
- 13:40So they're actually almost prophesied in the blessing.
- 13:44I mean, Jacob is prophet. I mean, when I'm sorry, yeah,
- 13:47when Jacob does it, he is prophesying.
- 13:49He's like Judah is going to be this Dan is going to be this
- 13:53like he is making this prophecy that evidently.
- 13:56I mean, what else could you say other than God has given him the
- 13:59prophecy? And, and I guess if that's true,
- 14:04if God's given him the prophecy that points out that he worships
- 14:08saying like we would say, Amen, let it be.
- 14:11So like, you know, like worships God for what the prophecy was.
- 14:17Well, I mean, if you think of it, you know, like this list of
- 14:21people here is all people that God said was going to be in the
- 14:25lineage of Christ, right? And So what we have to remember
- 14:29is they didn't have the Scriptures like we have today.
- 14:33And so God commanded them to pass it on to their children.
- 14:37And so I think, like you said, this blessing was more than just
- 14:42a blessing, so to speak, to bless their lives, but they were
- 14:45passing on the torch, so to speak, or the baton on to their
- 14:50children. I agree.
- 14:52Yeah, which is, I mean, I'm just kind of spitballing now, but
- 14:56isn't that what we do when we proclaim the truth of God today
- 14:59in a sense? Like, I mean, if if we say
- 15:02repent for the Kingdom of heaven is at hand or whatever, you
- 15:06know, repent, Jesus is coming back.
- 15:08He's yeah, we're going to meet him in the air.
- 15:11Whatever we do that the truth, then ultimately that's a
- 15:16blessing to the people too. You know it's not.
- 15:20I don't know what they have back in the day, like when when Isaac
- 15:25blessed Jacob there, would he have called it a blessing?
- 15:30Or was he simply speaking the truth of what God spoke to his
- 15:34son then? What says there that that Isaac?
- 15:40He said. Go take your bow and arrow and
- 15:43shoot me a deer, right? And bring me venison that I
- 15:47love, he said. So that my soul will bless thee.
- 15:53Before I die. Before I die.
- 15:56That's right. So yeah, I that kind of.
- 16:00I think it's both. I think it is.
- 16:02That's correct. Yeah, yeah.
- 16:03I think it's both. I think he is.
- 16:05He knows. That he has.
- 16:07To pass on the promise of God, but he is also pronouncing a
- 16:17actual physical blessing that comes with that promise of God
- 16:20on each person. So yeah, he is looking at it as
- 16:23a blessing, you know, because, because think about it, to
- 16:27Abraham, it was a blessing, right?
- 16:29I mean, the original promise to Abraham was a blessing.
- 16:32You are going to be a great nation.
- 16:34You're going to, I'm going to give you this land like it was a
- 16:37physical blessing and it was a promise that you're going to the
- 16:42Savior is going to come through you.
- 16:43It was 2 parts, right? And the 1st part of it was an
- 16:46actual physical blessing, and that's what they're passing on.
- 16:50Yeah, and the other part was just like giving your blessing
- 16:53to a marriage or a courtship or whatever from me to you.
- 16:57Yeah. Interesting.
- 16:59That's yeah, that's that's a cool little discussion there.
- 17:03OK. 22 By Faith, Joseph, when he died, made mention of the
- 17:08departing of the children of Israel and gave commandments
- 17:11concerning his bones. Falls in the same category as
- 17:16the previous two. Really doesn't.
- 17:18It it does, but I think there's a different twist on this one
- 17:21because think about the story. You've got God promising the
- 17:28land of Canaan to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob.
- 17:32OK, the famine comes and Joseph's already in Egypt and
- 17:38Jacob has to go down into Egypt to where his son is, and they
- 17:42are established and promoted and given the best of the land of
- 17:47Egypt there. So they could have misunderstood
- 17:51that for the blessing. But Jacob, I'm sorry, Joseph
- 17:56says no, folks, you are leaving here one day and when you leave,
- 18:00take my bones with you, right? In other words, he didn't get
- 18:03sidetracked. That's what he did by faith.
- 18:06He did not get sidetracked with his promotion in Egypt, but he
- 18:10laid focus on the promise that you're going to return these
- 18:14people, is going to return to that land, not this land, but
- 18:17that land of Canaan one day and what not.
- 18:20If you go, when you go, you're going to take my bones with you,
- 18:24right? That's what he did by faith.
- 18:27Interesting. Yeah, Right, right, right.
- 18:29Interesting. Melbourne.
- 18:31Yeah, that you pretty much summed it up there, because it
- 18:33says there, Joseph, it says Joseph said unto his brethren, I
- 18:37die. And God will surely visit you
- 18:40and bring you out of this land and unto the land which he swear
- 18:44to Abraham and to Isaac and to Jacob and Joe.
- 18:48And Joseph took an oath of the children of Israel saying God
- 18:51will surely visit you and you should carry up my bones from
- 18:54hint. So yeah, that you're right.
- 18:56That's exactly what it is Aaron and it's interesting that he
- 19:02made mention of the departing of children of Israel because that
- 19:07is also part of the faith in my mind is you know, because it
- 19:11hasn't happened yet at that, but I get was many years down the
- 19:14road right What is. It almost 400. 400 yeah, so a
- 19:19long time, but he made mention of it so he believed it, right,
- 19:24He says there and God will surely visit you.
- 19:28So Joseph was convinced that God is going to come sometime.
- 19:35He didn't know how long and he's going to visit you and take you
- 19:38from this land of bondage into while they weren't bondage yet,
- 19:41but from this land into the next land.
- 19:43And so he. Yeah, again, he he simply
- 19:48believed when he said that they're going to leave.
- 19:51Yeah. That's cool.
- 19:53Yeah, no, it is. That's good stuff.
- 19:56Love it 23 by faith, Moses, when he was born was hid three months
- 20:02of his parents because they saw he was a proper child and they
- 20:07were not afraid of the King's commandment.
- 20:12Now, is this talking about Moses, Faith, Faith or his
- 20:15parents? All right, you tell me, Eric.
- 20:18You, you, you was a spoiler. That's what I was going to say.
- 20:24No, it is definitely talking about his parents faith, because
- 20:28think about the way it's worded by faith.
- 20:30Moses, when he was born, was he, in other words, you could, you
- 20:34could take that when he was born out and say by faith Moses was
- 20:38hid, right? In other words, he was hid by
- 20:42the faith of his parents, you know, when they saw he was a
- 20:45proper child. And you know, like, I do think
- 20:49that there is some significance of that.
- 20:50If you go back and look at it, he was literally a very
- 20:54beautiful child. Like he was.
- 20:56If you go back and look at the wording in the Old Testament, he
- 20:59actually was very beautiful. But I also don't want to
- 21:02diminish. It wasn't that they were saying
- 21:06we'll save him because he's such a pretty child.
- 21:09It says they were not afraid to the King's command.
- 21:12They didn't want to kill him, right?
- 21:13I mean, think about Aaron's younger than him.
- 21:16They didn't kill Aaron either, you know what I'm saying?
- 21:19So by faith, they did not follow through when the government
- 21:23commanded them to kill their children.
- 21:27That's good. That's really good.
- 21:30Melvin yeah, I did. I just wanted to point out that
- 21:33it says they're and they were not afraid of the King's
- 21:38commandment. So I just want to point out that
- 21:41when we believe that God is who He is and that He is a rewarder
- 21:48of them that diligently seek Him and that He is faithful to His
- 21:52promises, when we believe that, it gives us boldness, right?
- 21:57So that's what I see here, because then then we'll see that
- 22:04I guess a little more in the next verses.
- 22:06But that that's just what I wanted to point out.
- 22:08They, they were not afraid of the King's commandments, even
- 22:11though they could have. I don't know what would have
- 22:13happened if they would have found out, like the king would
- 22:17have found out what, what they did.
- 22:19Actually, they probably would have been killed, very likely,
- 22:21but they didn't care. So, yeah, because in this same
- 22:26circumstance, you could say, you could, you could say all the
- 22:31martyrs by faith were not afraid of the King's commandment.
- 22:35You know what I mean? Like, because that's what it
- 22:37means. It means that regardless of the
- 22:40consequence, you're going to to serve God first.
- 22:44Even if there is a penalty from the government, you know we're
- 22:49serving him. Yeah, yeah, this would have been
- 22:52a good verse to bring it up back, You know, when COVID
- 22:56people were wondering what should we do this or should we
- 22:58do not, you know, because the government and we're we're
- 23:00supposed to listen to our government.
- 23:02But in this case, obviously they, the the writer of Hebrews
- 23:07here is praising their parents for disobeying the government
- 23:11action is making the point of it, putting him in the faith
- 23:15chapter for their decision to not follow the government.
- 23:18That's pretty solid evidence that there are situations where
- 23:22you would not just do what the government does.
- 23:25Oh yeah, no, it makes me think of Peter, you know, like when he
- 23:29is when they take Peter and John before the council, they make a
- 23:33very a great statement. They say you decide like judge
- 23:38you. Peter says to the scribes and
- 23:40Pharisees, judge you, should we serve God or man like you know
- 23:44what I mean? Like he was laying it back to
- 23:46them that and if they were, if they were not on the other side
- 23:51of this argument, would have always said, oh, no, you served
- 23:53God first, right? You know, they would have agreed
- 23:55with that. So he's saying, you all judge,
- 23:58should I serve man or God, right?
- 24:01Like who? Who should I obey?
- 24:04Yeah, that's good stuff. Now we now we get to Moses
- 24:09actually here by faith. Moses, when he was come two
- 24:12years, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh's daughter,
- 24:16choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of
- 24:19God than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season, esteeming
- 24:24the reproach of Christ's greater riches than the treasures in
- 24:27Egypt, for he had respect unto the recompense of the reward.
- 24:33I needed to read that all together.
- 24:34There might be quite a bit in there, but I think it's that one
- 24:37principle that he refused to be called the son of Pharaoh's
- 24:41daughter, that that trails through there.
- 24:45Oh yeah, yeah. Yeah, I didn't, I didn't know if
- 24:49he was done. Yeah, No, I I think that it's, I
- 24:55think this is extremely interesting because you actually
- 24:58don't get this detail, not, not not this Hebrews, but in Acts
- 25:03Chapter 7, you don't get this detail anywhere else.
- 25:06But in Acts Chapter 7, Acts Chapter 7 says in verse 23, Acts
- 25:13723 says, and when he was full talk about Moses when he was
- 25:16full 40 years old, it came into his heart to visit his brethren,
- 25:23the children of Israel. In other words, God put this
- 25:26thought in his heart, right? It came into his heart.
- 25:30God put a thought into his heart and he needed to visit the
- 25:32children of Israel. 24 says, and seeing one of them suffer wrong,
- 25:36he defended him and avenged him that was oppressed and smote the
- 25:39Egyptian. Listen to verse 25.
- 25:41Nowhere else do you get this tidbit for he supposed his
- 25:46brethren would have understood how that God by his hand would
- 25:52deliver them, but they understood not.
- 25:56God put it in his heart and said, you're going to be the one
- 26:00that's going to bring these people out before he ever spoke
- 26:03to him at the burning Bush, Right?
- 26:05You see that in that verse? Yeah, he he God put it in his
- 26:08heart, you need to go out there and visit them.
- 26:11And when he stood up for the guy, he thought they should have
- 26:14understood. God's put me in this position to
- 26:17deliver you folks, but they didn't understand that.
- 26:20So when he says back here in Hebrews 1125 and 24 there that
- 26:26he refused to be called the son of Pharaoh's daughter, he
- 26:29literally is making a choice. God has put his in his heart
- 26:33saying you're going to deliver this people.
- 26:35Or on the other hand, here I am set up to be another Joseph and
- 26:40a ruler of Egypt, right? He is faced literally with that
- 26:44choice and God put that in his heart and he chose by faith to
- 26:49follow God, even though that was a choice of, I mean, just really
- 26:54almost nothing but hardship, right?
- 26:56I mean, he, I mean, and what? And here's my biggest point,
- 27:01folks. That's 40 years before he
- 27:04actually stepped into the job. That's. 40 years before he sees
- 27:08the burning Bush and actually steps into the job that he made
- 27:11this choice, right? And I think that's so like I
- 27:14said, I just think that's I love that story of Moses.
- 27:17I think that's so interesting. Wait, talking to talk about
- 27:20taking a small thing and carrying it all the way to the
- 27:25goal line like. Never.
- 27:27Never never really wavered. I mean, he got angry that and
- 27:32ended up getting in trouble kind of, but but he never doubted the
- 27:36the mission, right. Yeah, Velvet, go ahead.
- 27:41Yeah, I, I just want to point out one thing, I guess that, you
- 27:46know, when you read these 3 verses, it sounds like Moses is,
- 27:52you know, this great godly man. And he was right, He was.
- 27:57But it comforts me when I also read that when it came down to
- 28:04it, that when it came, when the rubber hit the road and God said
- 28:09to Moses, you're going to leave my people out.
- 28:13Moses said, look, I can't speak. Wouldn't Aaron be a better one?
- 28:18You know, And God said, no, no, no, it's going to be you.
- 28:22But Moses was scared like he or I guess it that would be a good
- 28:27illustration maybe that you know, he didn't want to do it
- 28:33there, which when you read this, it's like, you know, it seems
- 28:36like he was really godly man and he was.
- 28:39But it just comforts me when when you look at the whole
- 28:42picture there, Moses was obedient then.
- 28:45But Moses, like you said, Leon, later on, he got angry and smote
- 28:49the rock instead of you know what dude, what he was supposed
- 28:53to do. So anyway, that's encouraging to
- 28:58me, right, That Moses was a regular man and he didn't always
- 29:06do everything perfectly like God told him to do.
- 29:08But it does say here that obviously Moses believed that
- 29:16God was going to do what he was going to do way back when he was
- 29:23in Pharaoh's house, right? Because like you said it from
- 29:29the time like what was what was Moses he was 80 right.
- 29:33But when he led the children of Israel out.
- 29:37And so here it says that when he refused to be called the son of
- 29:42Pharaoh's daughter and choosing rather to suffer affliction with
- 29:45the people of God. So Moses did believe that that
- 29:50God was going to come through and he believed that.
- 29:54And then I another thing that stood out to me, and maybe we
- 29:58can talk about that a little bit.
- 30:00It says there that he esteemed the reproach of Christ greater
- 30:05riches than the treasures of Egypt.
- 30:07How did he come to the conclusion that just suffering
- 30:14for Christ is greater riches than the physical riches of
- 30:19Egypt? I didn't research that, but that
- 30:22kind of stood out to me. Well, yeah, he got, hey, Andrew,
- 30:26he got, he grew up in the Palestinian.
- 30:29I mean, he grew up, he grew up having everything that he
- 30:33literally could have dreamt of. So yeah, when he just, he had to
- 30:39pick, like when he chose to go the way that he did, he was
- 30:43giving up the opportunity to grow up a wealthy, wealthy man
- 30:47with a lot of power. He had that right in his.
- 30:50I think that's what that means, don't you, Eric?
- 30:52Oh, oh, oh, yeah. No, no doubt, because.
- 30:54Verse 26. It was, it was a life of ease as
- 30:59Pharaoh's son, you know, or Pharaoh's daughter's son.
- 31:03It was a life of ease, like I said, similar to what Joseph
- 31:06had, or it was a go over here and try to lead this people out
- 31:11of here. In other words, think about you
- 31:12can't do both. You can't stay in Pharaoh's
- 31:15house and have the life of these like Joseph did and get a hold
- 31:18of this people and take them out of here.
- 31:20Now back to your point, what you said, you're absolutely.
- 31:23Right. He has this moment of faith.
- 31:26In fact, they're in all the way down to all the way down to, I
- 31:35don't know, verse 26. It is this first moment of faith
- 31:40that he has in which he believes that his brethren, like I said,
- 31:43you should go read Acts Chapter 7 and verse 25.
- 31:46That's super. You know, that was very
- 31:48informative. He, he has this moment of faith
- 31:50that he sees that God's going to use him to lead the people out.
- 31:54He has 40 years of doubt. Truly, he has 40 years of doubt
- 32:00because he flees to the wilderness.
- 32:01He had, he makes no effort for 40 years to come back and get
- 32:05the people. And then God appears to him in a
- 32:08burning Bush and says it's time to get over here.
- 32:10And he says, oh, not me, Lord. And it goes so far that on his
- 32:14way over there, God is going to kill him.
- 32:18And his wife steps in and circumcises his son and offers
- 32:22that as an offering to God and saves his life.
- 32:25So that's encouraging to me to know that, that Moses, because I
- 32:32mean, my goodness, I, I might have a weak moment that lasts a
- 32:37few weeks or a month or two, but he had one that lasts 40 years.
- 32:43You know, so that's. Encouraging.
- 32:45So was he supposed to had gone and fulfilled his duty when he
- 32:51was first commissioned 40 years prior to what he did?
- 32:54I mean, I, I think so based on what access he supposed that
- 32:58they should have understood how that God was going to deliver
- 33:01them by his hand and they didn't understand and he got
- 33:05discouraged and left. And 40 years goes by and I, and
- 33:09I'm not saying I, I totally agree that God could have been
- 33:11training him over there with the, you know, with these sheep
- 33:15and with all this stuff, God could have been training him.
- 33:18But God didn't, you know, he kind of give up on the goal
- 33:22until God come back to him and said, Hey, it's time to go do
- 33:25what I asked you to do 40 years ago.
- 33:27It's it is the time I never thought.
- 33:29About that. Yeah.
- 33:31I mean, it's one of those things that I guess you could say God's
- 33:35always on time, so maybe it wasn't the right time, but in a
- 33:38sense it was his goal and he understood it 40 years before
- 33:42that God. Wouldn't have given him the
- 33:44order if he, if he wouldn't have been ready to fulfill that time,
- 33:48you know, otherwise he would have said, well, in 40 years,
- 33:50I'll send you, you know. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 33:52That's right. Yeah.
- 33:52Yeah. It it was still a good thing.
- 33:54Andrew, I'm going to read that. We were commenting on verse 25.
- 33:57Six. There are 24, five and six.
- 34:00I'm going to read verse 27 and let Aaron and Belwood that if
- 34:04you want to go back and catch up on some things, whatever you
- 34:06can. So verse 27 says by faith he
- 34:09which is Moses for so Egypt not fearing the wrath of the king
- 34:14for he endured as seeing him who is invisible.
- 34:19You know it comes across the exact same lines here, I
- 34:23believe, right? Aaron, go ahead.
- 34:25Yeah, well, I mean, I might be wrong in this, but I think 27
- 34:30shifts through 26 was talking about what he did when he was 40
- 34:34years old. I think 27 almost has to be what
- 34:38he did when he was coming back and taking the people out of
- 34:42there. Because the reason I say that is
- 34:46he actually forsook Egypt because of fear of the king.
- 34:49In other words, he fled for his life when he was 40 years old,
- 34:52right? So I think that this is in other
- 34:56words, when Pharaoh, well, let me let me back up and say it
- 35:00like this. You see this huge transformation
- 35:05in Moses in the times that he approaches Pharaoh and asks for
- 35:10the people to leave. When he first starts, he's
- 35:12timid, he's not sure. By the end of it, he says,
- 35:16you're right, you'll not see my face no more, right.
- 35:18So in the process of going to Pharaoh and telling him to let
- 35:24my people go, he grows tremendously.
- 35:27In his faith. He, he really does, he grows
- 35:29tremendously in that. So I think when it says that he
- 35:31forsook Egypt not fearing the wrath of the king, I think
- 35:34that's by the end of him actually leaving Egypt, you
- 35:37know, and by then he's not afraid of Pharaoh anymore.
- 35:41I mean think about it, when God first appears to him, he has to.
- 35:46God literally says don't worry the people that sought your life
- 35:50is David right? So he knows that Moses is scared
- 35:53to go back for fear of his life. You know, yeah.
- 35:57That's yeah, good. Stuff go ahead.
- 35:59I, I would tend to agree with that Aaron, because if you think
- 36:03about it, so when, when it came time to actually do it, like I
- 36:07was saying over here, you know, Moses was like, dude, I can't, I
- 36:11can't speak. Wouldn't Aaron be a better guy?
- 36:13But then if you read there, God says, OK, look, I'm going to
- 36:19give you a sign, take your staff, throw it down the ground,
- 36:22you know, and the thing turned to a snake.
- 36:24And so, and he said, now reach down and grab the snake, right?
- 36:28I mean, I dude, I, I hate snakes.
- 36:32And he reached down and grabbed the snake and it turned to a
- 36:35rod, right? And so God was showing him his
- 36:38faithfulness there in my mind. And so like you said, then Moses
- 36:46really like, dude, this is for real.
- 36:49And so when it came time to actually getting out of Egypt,
- 36:54we read there how, you know, the king was very furious with
- 37:01Moses. You know, he would say, oh,
- 37:03yeah, I'm going to. The king would say, I'm going
- 37:06to, you know, repent or come and take the frogs away and then he
- 37:10act on ice and then they come into his presence.
- 37:13Moses and Aaron would, and the king would get furious again.
- 37:17And you see that over and over. So by then Moses did not, you
- 37:24don't read that he was scared of the king there in those attacks,
- 37:27so. Yeah, he went and did it,
- 37:30relying rather to go with the one who is invisible.
- 37:35It says here, I like, I like the choice of words there.
- 37:38Andrew, go ahead. I don't have much.
- 37:41Add to all that, that's good. I just also like to see the
- 37:47faith characters, even Abraham also, and many of the others.
- 37:52They start out not so confident, not so sure, not so solid, but
- 37:59through the progression of their life and challenges that
- 38:03happened, they really grew strong.
- 38:05And by the time, by by the time Moses came back after he after
- 38:12the 40 years, he at that point, he was relying on someone
- 38:17outside of himself 100% and he had faith in the one that had
- 38:21promised. At that point, he was no longer
- 38:24picking up a, a, a sword and trying to take vengeance in his
- 38:27own hands and kill it, killing the unjust and trying to wipe
- 38:32him out. He was now saying, father, what
- 38:36do you want me to do basically? And he was it was a a isn't
- 38:42there a verse in the New Testament somewhere where it
- 38:45talks about the Potter and the clay referring to Moses was able
- 38:50to be used? I'm not sure.
- 38:51But anyhow, I like how that these characters start out like
- 38:56me and you, and then with their experience with God, they got
- 39:00really solid. And I think that is still true
- 39:03today. The more you interact with God
- 39:07and ministry, you'll get more and more solid.
- 39:12Water power over the clay of the same lump, to make one vessel
- 39:15unto honor, and another unto dishonor, And Romans 9 is where
- 39:18that was. Yeah, go.
- 39:20Ahead, Eric. I was just going to say this is
- 39:23actually another one of those great definitions of what faith
- 39:28is. Think about this.
- 39:30It says he not not fearing the wrath of the king, for he
- 39:34endured as seeing him who is invisible.
- 39:36OK, Think about the literal instance of that.
- 39:39You're standing in front of a guy that has the power of life
- 39:44and death. Like you look at him in the eye
- 39:46and he fears the guy that he can't see.
- 39:49Yeah, God. And that's a great difference of
- 39:53faith. It really is awesome that he is.
- 39:55That, that that's, that's encouraging.
- 39:58My goodness, yes. Isn't that a shot of boost to
- 40:00all of us? Yeah, it.
- 40:03Is Yeah, it is and it keeps going here.
- 40:05So we're not done with Moses yet.
- 40:07Through faith he kept the the path Passover and the sprinkling
- 40:11of blood, lest he that destroyed the first board should touch
- 40:15them. So this is where the keeping of
- 40:19the Passover kind of started it, right?
- 40:22I mean, and he it says he kept it.
- 40:24Go ahead, Eric. Yeah.
- 40:26Oh, yeah. No, I mean, like, I don't want
- 40:31to. I don't want to diminish the
- 40:33verse and act like it's not just about Moses.
- 40:35But also I want to say, I would like to say that really all the
- 40:39people that kept the Passover did the same thing Moses did
- 40:43here, right? I mean, they all did something
- 40:47by faith that kept the death Angel out of their house, right?
- 40:50I mean that that didn't you know that literally that's what he
- 40:53says by faith. He kept the Passover and the
- 40:56sprinkling blood, lest he that destroyed the first born should
- 41:00touch them. So it's I mean, I don't know.
- 41:05I don't I really don't know. I don't know how that worked
- 41:07exactly, like geography wise, but it seems like they could
- 41:13have heard maybe the people screaming in the neighboring
- 41:17houses or the, you know, the Egyptians houses like it.
- 41:20It almost, you know, it's like he just passed through the land
- 41:23and here they are doing the thing that is keeping this death
- 41:29Angel. That's that's wiping everybody
- 41:31out, you know, from entering their house.
- 41:34So that that was like I said, I just think that's a that that is
- 41:39certainly something that he lays to Moses charge.
- 41:42But it also happened to all the people that did that, you know,
- 41:44all the people that applied that blood.
- 41:47Yeah, Melvin. Yeah, it's just interesting to
- 41:51me when you think about about that.
- 41:55So it says that through faith he kept the Passover and the
- 42:00sprinkling of the blood, lest he that destroyed the first born
- 42:03should touch them. So if you think about that, so
- 42:07God says it says there in Exodus, God says and they shall
- 42:11take the blood and strike it on the two sides of the post and on
- 42:17the upper door post of the house.
- 42:19And you know, what if God would tell our leader, whatever that
- 42:27is leading us out of bondage that we've been in for years and
- 42:31years, and he would say, OK, you know, tonight the death angel's
- 42:35going to come. You need to take this lamb and
- 42:37slaughter it, take the blood and strike.
- 42:40And you'd be like, what is that going to do?
- 42:43Right? Or, you know, it seems kind of
- 42:45like whatever, right? But it, it says there that they
- 42:49did it. Like they believe that that it
- 42:53was going to happen. And and that is the faith that I
- 42:57see there, you know, that he's talking about that, that they
- 43:01just followed through, even though it did seem probably kind
- 43:05of foolish, but they did it. Andrew.
- 43:11Yeah, the word that pops out to me is where it says through
- 43:14faith he kept the Passover. He's not giving a lot of credit
- 43:18to the other people that did it, I guess.
- 43:24Yeah. So when I was thinking about
- 43:28this, I was also thinking about when Moses put up the serpent in
- 43:33the wilderness. That was also an act of faith.
- 43:36I was kind of surprised that's not in here where the people had
- 43:39to look and be healed in the same way kind of that blood was
- 43:43there. Again, it's given us an example
- 43:47of how faith works and how it worked back then and how it
- 43:51delivered them, and so that we know very much how faith works.
- 43:58That's that's what he's after. He's drilling it into us here.
- 44:00Yeah, over. And over 29 by faith they passed
- 44:06through the Red Sea as by dry land, which the Egyptians as
- 44:10saying to do, which the Egyptians as saying to do were
- 44:14driven. Just one more example of Moses
- 44:19going and stretched doing something that physically had
- 44:24no, you know, recourse. Well, and actually, if you think
- 44:31about it, the focus is on the passing through, not necessarily
- 44:36the parting of the water. And I mean, haven't you seen
- 44:40those pictures maybe in a children's book or whatever,
- 44:43that would have took some faith folks to walk through with water
- 44:48on both sides and seemingly nothing holding it back, right?
- 44:52You know what I mean? Like that?
- 44:53I think that's what he's pointing out here is they
- 44:56believed God would not bring that in on them and walked.
- 45:00Through. It.
- 45:04Actually, Word drowned. In other words, they walked
- 45:06through the same scary thing and God did let it loose and let it
- 45:12come in on them and they had to have faith to walk through two
- 45:15between 2:00. Walls of water.
- 45:17That was that did take great faith.
- 45:21Yeah, that's right, Andrew. I'm going to mute you till it's
- 45:25your turn to speak because it's given some kind of feedback
- 45:27there. Go ahead, Melvin.
- 45:29Yeah, you covered it pretty good there Aaron.
- 45:32I one thing that stood out to me is it says there that they pass
- 45:37through the Red Sea as by dry land.
- 45:40So if you think about it, like you said, Aaron, you know that
- 45:45did take faith for them to walk down because it was deep there,
- 45:49right? So the water was real high and
- 45:53but it says there that it was as dry land.
- 45:57So if you drain a pond or drain a lake, it's you know what it
- 46:02looks like, right? It's like all sabi and mock
- 46:07basically, but it actually was firm and it looked exactly like
- 46:13dry land, you know, dry land obviously to me it would be
- 46:16like, you know, in the middle, not maybe not the middle of a
- 46:19drought, but land that hasn't seen rain for a few days.
- 46:23It's just amazing, amazing to. Me.
- 46:25But Yep, great miracle, that's what it is.
- 46:29Yeah, Andrew. Yeah, I just like how, I don't
- 46:37know what y'all think about this, but how many times do we
- 46:42do things and we're not necessarily thinking about God,
- 46:46but we kind of got scared into a corner to where we did things
- 46:50that we wouldn't have done if we weren't pushed into that
- 46:55situation. These guys, they were looking at
- 47:00death in the eyes. I mean, everybody was saying,
- 47:03look, are we going to just die here?
- 47:05You brought us out here to die. They didn't seem that believing.
- 47:13And then the waters parted and Moses kind of rebuked them.
- 47:17And they go through there and now the word, they is there and
- 47:22they passed. It's no longer just he, he, you
- 47:26know, they passed. And so I, I thought that was
- 47:31interesting. Yeah.
- 47:35Yeah, Aaron, thanks for clarifying that it it was
- 47:38absolutely, you're absolutely correct that it was the passing
- 47:41through, not the parting of the water that he's that he's
- 47:43praying to to our minds here. Yep, Yep. 20 or 30 by faith.
- 47:52The walls of Jericho fell down after they were come past about
- 47:577 days. So here we jump back a little
- 48:00bit to a different story. Now go ahead, Aaron.
- 48:04I think this is kind of interesting and I mean, I it, it
- 48:08it's to me, you could, I guess you could say that the walls
- 48:15were broke according to this verse.
- 48:17You could say the walls were broken down by faith, right?
- 48:21I mean, when they when God said which all these examples are
- 48:28similar in this aspect of sometimes people are being asked
- 48:33to do things that doesn't make any sense, right?
- 48:36You know, like lots of things are being asked do this thing
- 48:39and that doesn't make any sense. Well, this is one of the
- 48:42greatest one because it's like, what good is it going to do for
- 48:45us to go walk around this city 7 times?
- 48:48You know what I mean? Like, I'm sure I don't know, but
- 48:51you'd think they've been some murmuring like what good's this
- 48:54doing this guys? I mean, what, what what's the
- 48:56point of this? But when it was obeyed by faith,
- 48:59that is when they believed it was the right thing to do and
- 49:02Moses or not Moses, but whoever said go do that, then when it
- 49:09got done literally, faith broke the walls down.
- 49:13You know what I mean? Like, would you say that by this
- 49:15verse, faith is what tore the walls down?
- 49:18You know, I mean, so that that's what kind of stands out to me in
- 49:21this is by faith the walls of Jericho fell like it was the
- 49:25faith that broke the walls down. Yeah, and, and, and particularly
- 49:30Joshua's, you know, because if you this was a, this was a seven
- 49:33day deal, right? You know, I mean, so a whole
- 49:37week they were walking around, nothing was happening, nothing
- 49:40changed until they walked around the 7th time on the 7th day.
- 49:45That's. Right.
- 49:46That that's, yeah. So there was plenty of room for
- 49:48doubt there if you wanted to. Yeah, you, you pointed out good
- 49:54there. One thing that I wanted to say
- 49:56there, if you read that account, it says there that they were men
- 50:00of war. So really in all reality, if you
- 50:04think about it, the army was there, right?
- 50:07And I think it was Joshua, I think his army was there.
- 50:12And it says they were men of war.
- 50:14So they came there to fight to overtake this city, but God
- 50:21says, no, you're going to March around this city one time every
- 50:26day for seven days. And it really makes no sense,
- 50:30right? And and then at the 7th day,
- 50:32you're going to blow the trumpet.
- 50:34And then when you build the trumpet, the walls are going to
- 50:36fall down. It's like, yeah, right, right.
- 50:39But they were obedient again. They they believe God, right?
- 50:44It, it all boils down. And I keep thinking as we read
- 50:47through this book earlier and said that we need to believe God
- 50:51that He is a rewarder to those that didn't seek Him.
- 50:55Now, yeah. That's what all boils down to.
- 50:58Yeah, they chose to believe the invisible.
- 51:02Andrew, go ahead. Yeah, here again it shows
- 51:07another aspect of faith where there was action.
- 51:10They they did walk. The result I guess you could say
- 51:17if their faith was is that they actually got a packed everything
- 51:20they needed to pack to and make plans to walk around this
- 51:25building 7 times or or however many times.
- 51:28I think it's more than seven times a day for seven days.
- 51:32Once a day for six days and then seven times on the 7th day.
- 51:36Oh, is that how it was? Yeah, I think so.
- 51:39That took some planning. That took, you know, a lot of
- 51:44effort. It's not the type of faith that
- 51:47we think of sometimes when we just say, oh, I'm going to
- 51:51believe God for this and it's going to happen.
- 51:53Or I, I just like the fact that I don't know how to put in
- 52:03words. I like how that it's OK for me
- 52:07over a long period of time, just do the right thing without
- 52:10seeing any evidence that what I'm believing is correct other
- 52:13than what just God said. It's not.
- 52:17I don't need results now. Like I'm fine with a long
- 52:22process according to the faith that I understand from the Bible
- 52:25and reading through here is that the fruit and the result and the
- 52:30answer and of my faith is, is not the point here.
- 52:36The point is, is that whatever God said, you just go with it.
- 52:40And when you go with it and you believe it and you act like you
- 52:43believe it and you respond, you actually get up and put blood on
- 52:47the doors. You don't just say I believe,
- 52:49you know, I believe in the blood.
- 52:50You know, they actually got up and did everything God told them
- 52:53to do. And at the end of the day, God
- 52:55said their faith is what kept them from dying.
- 52:57And you know, those walls came down by faith and yet they did
- 53:05all the other things. So I think it's an aspect of
- 53:08faith that is very nice for us to know that I can stand on the
- 53:12blood of Jesus Christ and stay there regardless of what what my
- 53:17life for people around me think or say.
- 53:21Yeah, there's. And I see this now, and it
- 53:23reminds me of what I heard of an old preacher say one time about
- 53:29the principle of seed time and harvest.
- 53:34So you practice, there is time, there is time, there is time,
- 53:38there is time. And then you get the harvest,
- 53:40the results of that seed. And you see this in every single
- 53:44example here. There's that element of time
- 53:48that gives you the opportunity to choose whether you're going
- 53:52to believe the king or the invisible one.
- 53:55And. And you see this, this, this
- 53:58through the entire thing. That's the very real part of
- 54:00faith, is time. Time to be challenged, Time to
- 54:05be tried. Tried to grow, yeah.
- 54:09Yeah, yeah, because I guess you could say that that is the
- 54:12point. You know, he mentions the seven
- 54:14days there and it is it God was trying them.
- 54:18Will you keep doing this for the seven days without seeing any
- 54:23results? You know, it was a test, truly
- 54:25it was. And and I mean, I would say this
- 54:30too, and this would be, I guess you could apply this to a man of
- 54:35his house or whatever. But sometimes you as the leader,
- 54:42like Joshua in this case, as the leader he is to get is to keep
- 54:48everybody going the right direction.
- 54:52Was they murmur or not right? You know what I mean?
- 54:55Like they may not have all had the same amount of faith.
- 54:58I in fact, I'd almost feel assuredly that they didn't have
- 55:01the same amount of faith, right? But they were being led by at
- 55:07least one man of faith and said, this is what God said this we
- 55:11are going to do this. And he pressed them all.
- 55:13And then they all reap the benefits of seeing the fruit of
- 55:17that faith. In other words, they didn't all
- 55:19have faith, the same amount of faith in the process, but they
- 55:22all saw the result of that faith at the end of it.
- 55:26Yeah, yeah, that's good stuff. Hey, I do want to get this last
- 55:30verse. Let's get 31 of them.
- 55:31It kind of changes gears after that.
- 55:33So this this still goes with kind of the context here.
- 55:36You each get about a minute here by Faith the harlot Rahab
- 55:40perished not with them that believe not when she had
- 55:43received minds with peace. Another another beautiful
- 55:48example of somebody believing a word they heard that's.
- 55:52True. Even even just through a
- 55:53messenger and acting on that to the contrary of the government.
- 55:57Go ahead, Aaron. Yeah.
- 55:58Well, and you can see a compare and contrast here.
- 56:01She believed everybody else in that city did not, right.
- 56:06And in fact, I would almost go as far.
- 56:08I mean, it doesn't say this either way.
- 56:11She believed and maybe the family that got saved didn't,
- 56:17but her faith said you all gathered my house and by her
- 56:22faith, she saved the whole family, right.
- 56:25So you know she that is a comparing dress.
- 56:28That's the difference. In other words, they died.
- 56:30The rest of the city died because they didn't believe she
- 56:33was saved because she. Believed.
- 56:37She believed that. She believed the word that she
- 56:39heard. If you read the account, she
- 56:40believed the word that she heard kind of threw the Grapevine.
- 56:43Itself. Oh yeah.
- 56:46Oh, that's awesome. That would go ahead.
- 56:49Yeah. And I also just wanted to point
- 56:50out that she was a Gentile. She was not, you know, a Jew.
- 56:55And so she was a vow person. It actually says that she
- 57:00worshipped Pagan gods up to this point.
- 57:04But yeah, I think so. To me, when I read that, it just
- 57:10is a Old Testament figure that Christ is available to anyone
- 57:18and everyone, no matter who you are, how bad you've been or, or
- 57:23what you have done in the past. And so that's what I see here,
- 57:27yeah. I think it's awesome that a
- 57:29harlot made the faith chapter. Yeah.
- 57:32Go ahead, Amber. Yeah, that was that was what I
- 57:35was going to focus on that that I'm intrigued and I love God for
- 57:41that. That there was no respective
- 57:45person at that point. It it didn't matter.
- 57:51Her background didn't matter. And whoever would believe, even
- 57:55the people that didn't believe or whether it did or not, the
- 57:58ones that came over and stayed at her house.
- 58:01I thought of the verse where it says if if the unbelieving is
- 58:06willing to live with you, don't depart or don't put them away
- 58:11because they're sanctified by your faith.
- 58:14I'm always struggling with that verse.
- 58:16Does that actually mean if I'm an unbeliever and my wife is
- 58:20safe, my kids are clean, my kids are whole, I am I am sanctified
- 58:26because of her the faith. I mean, I hope so not that I
- 58:32need it. Maybe I need no, I'm just and
- 58:35like sometimes I wish that was true because or hope it is
- 58:40because I know of a lot of believing wives or believing
- 58:43husbands that the other side doesn't believe.
- 58:47You know any projects out of that?
- 58:49Well, you, no, you, you actually pointed at something that I've
- 58:52never even thought about. It's true.
- 58:54Her whole family was sanctified by her faith.
- 58:57Yeah. I mean, that is a literal
- 58:59example that they were. Their lives were spared.
- 59:03I'm not saying went to heaven like God eternal.
- 59:06Life their. Lives were spared because of her
- 59:11faith, regardless of theirs. Yeah, Yeah.
- 59:15I would actually like to dig into that concept a little bit
- 59:18sometime where we're out of time for today, but maybe we could
- 59:21hit that again a little bit at the beginning of the next.
- 59:24Because I've talked with people that believe that one person's
- 59:29faith can save another like as an eternity.
- 59:32And I am not in that camp, but I would like to express that.
- 59:35I'm not either and I wouldn't preach it.
- 59:37I just, yeah, I struggling with that, yeah.
- 59:41I think it I think it has to do with the concept that faith
- 59:44cometh by hearing and hearing by the word.
- 59:45If you and faith go ahead and and you can proclaim that and
- 59:49another word, save others. And I now I would go this far.
- 59:54I would go as far as to say that God, you might draw more of
- 1:00:00God's work into a household when one person has faith so that
- 1:00:05they may see greater words had they not been married to that
- 1:00:08person. Yeah, You know what I mean?
- 1:00:10Does that make sense? Like they might be sanctified in
- 1:00:13the sense that they would get to see something or God would work
- 1:00:16with them or bring something to them that they had not otherwise
- 1:00:20received had there not been a believer in the house?
- 1:00:23Does that make sense? I mean, I think that's
- 1:00:25legitimate to say. Yeah.
- 1:00:28I would agree with that. Let let's visit about this a
- 1:00:30little bit. If if I forget, remind me, but
- 1:00:33let's touch on this subject and maybe just clarify that a little
- 1:00:36bit with some scripture too, as we go for next week.
- 1:00:39Anyway, that is it for today. Thank you very much folks.
- 1:00:43I, I appreciate that as we conclude today's study, remember
- 1:00:46Hebrews 11. Faith is a substance of evidence
- 1:00:49of things not seen. And I pray that your faith would
- 1:00:52reveal biblical truths more clearly than your physical eyes
- 1:00:55can perceive the things before you.
- 1:00:58Join us next Monday as we continue to look through the
- 1:01:01glory of God, through the substance of faith.
- 1:01:04God bless you guys. Thanks for your time.
- 1:01:05Appreciate you.
