- 0:00Speaker 1: Yeah, that.
- 0:02Speaker 2: Chuck Norris was chasing the Tyrannosaurus Rex. The rex was
- 0:06Speaker 2: not chasing the jeep. Murray, Murray, you there. You love sandwiches? Huh,
- 0:11Speaker 2: Let's go to eighty.
- 0:13Speaker 3: It was bo.
- 0:16Speaker 4: Wow that Prime time. Maybe I had a crush on
- 0:18Speaker 4: Betty Rubble.
- 0:19Speaker 1: I honestly, until after the segment ended and we went
- 0:22Speaker 1: to commercial break, had no idea that Jonathan Coachman was black.
- 0:25Speaker 1: He caught them the game last night, although they won
- 0:28Speaker 1: the game. You're listening to stuccattson Company. She is the
- 0:32Speaker 1: host of the Echoes podcast with our friend Gojo, and
- 0:35Speaker 1: host the College Football Happy Hour with our other friend
- 0:38Speaker 1: Lucy Rodin. It's available on YouTube. Jessica Smettana is with
- 0:42Speaker 1: us right now. She's smiling. What are you smiling about?
- 0:45Speaker 5: That's the first time anyone's ever plugged our new show,
- 0:49Speaker 5: Me and Lucy's new show.
- 0:50Speaker 6: It made me happy. It's very cute.
- 0:52Speaker 4: What just hearing your name side by side.
- 0:54Speaker 6: Yes, I like the name of our show. I should
- 0:57Speaker 6: I came up with it?
- 1:00Speaker 4: Are you excited?
- 1:00Speaker 1: We're just eleven days away here from week zero in
- 1:04Speaker 1: college football. I'm not certain outside of Lucy, really, you're
- 1:08Speaker 1: in the top five. In terms of people I know
- 1:10Speaker 1: who love college football, it's Lucy, you Gojo Goliic, and
- 1:15Speaker 1: I think Paul find them Taylor.
- 1:18Speaker 3: I do love college football. Now North Carolina has Damperman.
- 1:24Speaker 4: He doesn't love it. He doesn't.
- 1:25Speaker 1: Bill Belichick has ruined the college football experience for him. Jess, So,
- 1:28Speaker 1: how excited are you eleven days away from Week zero?
- 1:32Speaker 5: I'm so excited too. And you know what really makes
- 1:34Speaker 5: me excited this year Week zero? I have a wedding,
- 1:37Speaker 5: but it's a Friday wedding, and so I will get
- 1:40Speaker 5: to be on the couch, maybe a little hungover Saturday,
- 1:44Speaker 5: to watch Taylor's North Carolina tar Heels taking on the
- 1:49Speaker 5: TCU Horned Frogs from Dublin.
- 1:51Speaker 3: Yes, Jess, I know you've had the opportunity to go
- 1:53Speaker 3: to Ireland before for a Week zero Notre Dame game.
- 1:56Speaker 3: I'm pretty sure that was the year they absolutely destroyed Navy.
- 1:59Speaker 3: Thank you for your service, Navy. I had a company
- 2:04Speaker 3: reach out to say, hey, we'll send you to TCU
- 2:06Speaker 3: North Carolina. I said, rather do anything else?
- 2:10Speaker 5: Really, I that is stunning to me. So look, I'm
- 2:14Speaker 5: not gonna lie to you. Sometimes when there are certain
- 2:17Speaker 5: neutral site college football games or destination college football games,
- 2:21Speaker 5: like this year there's a Kansas Arizona state game at
- 2:25Speaker 5: Wembley Stadium. There was supposed to be a North Carolina
- 2:28Speaker 5: Virginia game in Brazil that got moved back to the
- 2:31Speaker 5: US because I think the ticket sales were not what
- 2:34Speaker 5: they expected.
- 2:35Speaker 6: But the Dublin game, I feel like, is the exception.
- 2:38Speaker 5: Like I really like that game because I personally have
- 2:42Speaker 5: been to it and I had a great time. And
- 2:44Speaker 5: especially if it's a game that your team's expected to win,
- 2:47Speaker 5: they're a big favorite, and like Notre Dame was, it's
- 2:50Speaker 5: a great excuse to go abroad, travel see the cliffs
- 2:53Speaker 5: of More, travel around Ireland's amazing, and then you get
- 2:57Speaker 5: a game at the end of it.
- 2:58Speaker 4: But if I were YouTube, that's the problem. That's tough.
- 3:01Speaker 5: It's tough because at the end of your fun week
- 3:04Speaker 5: of sight seeing, you gotta watch North Carolina.
- 3:07Speaker 3: At the end of the rainbow. There's not a pot
- 3:09Speaker 3: of gold. That's just Billy Edwards junior playing quarterback. And
- 3:12Speaker 3: I don't really want to do that eight hour flight back.
- 3:13Speaker 1: Wait, jess, let's be clear on exactly what was offered
- 3:16Speaker 1: to Taylor here. They offered you a free chip trip.
- 3:19Speaker 1: Was there money involved? What else was involved here?
- 3:21Speaker 3: Just flight? Just flight and hotel.
- 3:24Speaker 4: I mean, how do you say no to that? It's
- 3:26Speaker 4: a free trip to Ireland? Then, with Jess on this fight,
- 3:29Speaker 4: flights to.
- 3:29Speaker 5: Europe right now are not cheap. I would take that
- 3:32Speaker 5: flight and then I just stay in Europe for like
- 3:34Speaker 5: a month and get my money's worth. If I were you,
- 3:38Speaker 5: I would know I'm planning a honeymoon right now.
- 3:39Speaker 6: Okay, gas price is not good.
- 3:41Speaker 1: Really, whose decision? Whose final decision is it on the honeymoon?
- 3:46Speaker 1: The destination is it?
- 3:47Speaker 4: It's yours?
- 3:48Speaker 6: Yes, that's a great that's a great question.
- 3:51Speaker 5: I would say Lehman has been to more places abroad,
- 3:56Speaker 5: so it kind of narrows it down because I was like,
- 3:59Speaker 5: I don't want to go somewhere you've already been on
- 4:01Speaker 5: our honeymoon.
- 4:02Speaker 6: We should go somewhere for the first time together.
- 4:05Speaker 5: So that has sort of helped shape it away from
- 4:08Speaker 5: some of the places that he really wanted to do
- 4:11Speaker 5: that I was like, you've already done.
- 4:12Speaker 6: That like six times. I'm not going to Japan with
- 4:14Speaker 6: you again. So that's helped. But I'd say it's like,
- 4:17Speaker 6: you know, sixty forty my way.
- 4:19Speaker 4: Yeah, well it should be eighty twenty.
- 4:21Speaker 1: It should be one hundred percent your way, just so
- 4:23Speaker 1: you know, I mean it should. Taylor has a question
- 4:28Speaker 1: for you. I don't know what this Chris Simms take was.
- 4:31Speaker 1: I have no idea what he's talking about. He's wanted
- 4:33Speaker 1: to discuss it for two days now. I've avoided it.
- 4:36Speaker 1: I don't know what it is. It's something about a dog.
- 4:38Speaker 1: I'll let Taylor take it from here.
- 4:39Speaker 4: Go ahead, Taylor.
- 4:40Speaker 3: Yeah, So I was listening to the Unbuttoned podcast with
- 4:42Speaker 3: Chris Sims, and I figured we'd save it for Jess
- 4:45Speaker 3: because Jess is such a huge dog person.
- 4:49Speaker 4: Yep.
- 4:50Speaker 3: Sims was mad that he keeps ordering Uber Eats or
- 4:55Speaker 3: delivery to his house and the delivery driver that he
- 4:59Speaker 3: keeps getting will not get out of the car because
- 5:02Speaker 3: Sims has his dog running free roam around his house.
- 5:07Speaker 1: And Sims sim.
- 5:10Speaker 3: Sims wants it delivered to him, fed to him all
- 5:13Speaker 3: of that. Sims's question was is it part of the
- 5:17Speaker 3: job as a delivery driver to be comfortable around dogs?
- 5:21Speaker 3: He was arguing that when you when you sign up
- 5:23Speaker 3: for it, that's something that you sign up for that
- 5:27Speaker 3: is one of.
- 5:28Speaker 5: The most insane things that I have ever heard. Absolutely
- 5:32Speaker 5: not your dog.
- 5:33Speaker 4: I agree with sim.
- 5:34Speaker 6: Running around your house.
- 5:36Speaker 5: There's Look, let's be clear, there's not a lot of
- 5:38Speaker 5: things I would agree with Chris sims On to begin with,
- 5:41Speaker 5: but this one is definitely on the no list.
- 5:43Speaker 6: Taylor.
- 5:45Speaker 7: I also love the idea that sims lives in such
- 5:47Speaker 7: a reclusive area that there's one Uber driver, there's one
- 5:52Speaker 7: Uber Eats guy that will come to the house.
- 5:54Speaker 4: There's one house the dog just runs free.
- 5:57Speaker 5: There is a loose dog, your loose dog inside of
- 5:59Speaker 5: your backing of delivery.
- 6:00Speaker 6: What do you do it?
- 6:01Speaker 1: No, but it is a delivery delivery guy's responsibility to
- 6:06Speaker 1: avoid whatever is in front of them and get the
- 6:08Speaker 1: food to your front door.
- 6:09Speaker 4: I mean that's the job, isn't it.
- 6:12Speaker 6: I don't know about that.
- 6:13Speaker 5: If I see a loose dog, I'm and I'm a
- 6:16Speaker 5: dog person a dog and she's loose sometimes, and I'm
- 6:20Speaker 5: not going up to someone else's loose dog.
- 6:22Speaker 3: Stu, what is the argument it's a dog? Mean? Because
- 6:25Speaker 3: if you don't know that dog and that dog is vicious,
- 6:27Speaker 3: that dog can become your biggest problem very quickly.
- 6:31Speaker 4: Man's best friend.
- 6:31Speaker 6: Also Stu gotts.
- 6:33Speaker 5: This guy doesn't know this is Chris Simm's dog. This
- 6:35Speaker 5: could be anyone's dog. You don't know how people train
- 6:37Speaker 5: their dogs. That's the problem with dog ownership. You may
- 6:41Speaker 5: trust your dog, and I put my dog off leash.
- 6:43Speaker 5: I could do all this stuff with my dog. My
- 6:45Speaker 5: dog's great, But the second your dog encounter someone else's
- 6:48Speaker 5: lesser trained dog, all bets are off. Like you can
- 6:51Speaker 5: never trust other people's abilities to train their dogs.
- 6:54Speaker 7: Question for the room.
- 6:55Speaker 3: Does the size of the dog matter in this?
- 6:57Speaker 4: Yes, I guess it's actually it does.
- 7:00Speaker 6: Yeah, I guess what kind of dog are we talking here?
- 7:02Speaker 3: So I had this problem when I went to Sims's
- 7:04Speaker 3: draft party that he really didn't invite me to. I
- 7:06Speaker 3: kind of just invited myself there. He lives in like
- 7:09Speaker 3: a very tucked away private area, so it's not like
- 7:13Speaker 3: you're running into other dogs or other neighbors. The dog
- 7:17Speaker 3: is very small, but the dog, the dog is very yappy,
- 7:21Speaker 3: And I remember I had the same thing when I parked.
- 7:24Speaker 3: The dog immediately runs up to your car and will
- 7:27Speaker 3: be barking, And when I'm opening the door, I'm like, man,
- 7:30Speaker 3: this would be a terrible way to go into this
- 7:33Speaker 3: party to tell Sims that I had to kick his dog.
- 7:37Speaker 5: Wait, so this is a small dog. This is like
- 7:39Speaker 5: a ten pound or smaller dog.
- 7:41Speaker 3: I would say it's around twenty pounds.
- 7:44Speaker 6: It's right on the border. I don't know if it's
- 7:47Speaker 6: small really fifteen pounds.
- 7:49Speaker 5: Yeah, because that dog, I'm just like I'm palming it
- 7:51Speaker 5: like a basketball and saying get away from me.
- 7:53Speaker 6: Like that dog's teeth are not going to do as
- 7:56Speaker 6: much damage.
- 7:56Speaker 5: If I was picturing like a huge some sort of
- 7:59Speaker 5: hound or something.
- 8:00Speaker 4: Right, you imagine Sims to have like a rot or
- 8:03Speaker 4: something like that.
- 8:03Speaker 6: Right, Yeah, like a guard dog.
- 8:06Speaker 4: Right.
- 8:06Speaker 5: No, it sounds like this is just like some little
- 8:08Speaker 5: like gappy toy toy dog.
- 8:10Speaker 1: So Taylor, what does the driver do? Sims has to
- 8:12Speaker 1: go out to the car to get his food.
- 8:14Speaker 3: Yeah, the driver will. The driver will message Sims and say,
- 8:17Speaker 3: you've got a dog outside my door. I'm not getting out.
- 8:20Speaker 3: You have to come. And then Sims has to make
- 8:23Speaker 3: the trek down from his six story mansion.
- 8:26Speaker 4: It's like a two mile trek. Just to be exact, I.
- 8:28Speaker 6: Mean, this is ridiculous. I'm I'm team delivery driver on
- 8:33Speaker 6: this one.
- 8:34Speaker 3: So does does the social agreement that the delivery driver
- 8:37Speaker 3: have change if it's a mailman or a mail person.
- 8:42Speaker 5: M huh, that's a great question. Really, you gotta get
- 8:49Speaker 5: you gotta get your mail.
- 8:50Speaker 1: You know you have to, Yes, But what if a
- 8:53Speaker 1: dog is protecting that mailbox?
- 8:54Speaker 4: You know?
- 8:56Speaker 5: Yeah, but the mail person doesn't often have to get
- 8:59Speaker 5: out of the car, right, I.
- 9:01Speaker 1: Mean, I guess if you're good enough at that. If
- 9:03Speaker 1: you're good enough, yes, technically you could drive right up
- 9:06Speaker 1: to the mailbox, knock it out of the car, and
- 9:08Speaker 1: just drop the mail in the mailbox.
- 9:09Speaker 4: Yes.
- 9:10Speaker 5: Do you think Chris Sims has someone who takes He
- 9:13Speaker 5: hires someone who takes the mail out of the mailbox
- 9:16Speaker 5: at the end of his long driveway at his mansion
- 9:18Speaker 5: and carries it up to his front door.
- 9:19Speaker 6: Because I would not put that past him.
- 9:22Speaker 3: Yeah, I applied for that job actually benefits, It pays.
- 9:28Speaker 4: Better than this one. I mean about that.
- 9:31Speaker 6: Your steps in.
- 9:33Speaker 1: All right, we have a game for you. I love
- 9:36Speaker 1: preseason polls. I do you have to start somewhere, Jess?
- 9:39Speaker 4: You do? You need to lay some groundwork.
- 9:41Speaker 1: It starts somewhere, and the ap the fact that it's
- 9:44Speaker 1: still important to some people that makes me happy the
- 9:47Speaker 1: AP preseason Top twenty five pole.
- 9:49Speaker 4: But we have a game too high, too lower, just
- 9:51Speaker 4: right for you.
- 9:52Speaker 1: Taylor is going to be the host of this particular
- 9:54Speaker 1: game show, So Taylor take it away here.
- 9:58Speaker 3: Welcome in, Jess. The first team today, the number five
- 10:02Speaker 3: team in the eight pe pole.
- 10:03Speaker 4: Why are you dancing, guests? Good music?
- 10:05Speaker 6: I like this music. It's great, Nancy.
- 10:07Speaker 1: It's the combination of the music in the fact we're
- 10:09Speaker 1: talking at college football, right, Yeah, yeah, it's.
- 10:12Speaker 6: A good combo.
- 10:13Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 10:13Speaker 3: If this music sounds familiar, it's also the music for
- 10:16Speaker 3: Lucy or Goosey with Lucy Rodin.
- 10:19Speaker 4: That's right. Yes.
- 10:21Speaker 3: The first team, the Texas Longhorns coming in at number five. Wow,
- 10:25Speaker 3: too high, too low, or just right?
- 10:29Speaker 5: I'll say too high, wow? Really, And that's that's just
- 10:35Speaker 5: because I think there's a few teams behind Texas that
- 10:38Speaker 5: might be a little too low. I think Texas is
- 10:41Speaker 5: going to be great, and I think they have loaded up.
- 10:43Speaker 6: The team with skill position players.
- 10:44Speaker 5: Arch Manning had a really good November coming off of
- 10:47Speaker 5: an end of a season that was hot. But I'm
- 10:50Speaker 5: kind of nervous about the old line, and there was
- 10:51Speaker 5: news today that their starting left tackle might be out
- 10:54Speaker 5: for a few weeks tbd on what his injury is.
- 10:57Speaker 5: But when you have a run game that's not going
- 11:00Speaker 5: so hot and you try to fix it by just
- 11:02Speaker 5: slapping a couple transfer running backs on your team like
- 11:05Speaker 5: that kind of makes me a little nervous because transfer
- 11:07Speaker 5: running backs have not It doesn't always translate team to
- 11:10Speaker 5: team like your run games still have. You still have
- 11:12Speaker 5: to have a good offensive line. You still have to
- 11:13Speaker 5: have a good run game. You can't just kind of
- 11:15Speaker 5: import a couple players and hope, hope for the best.
- 11:17Speaker 5: So this is on sark if it doesn't work out,
- 11:19Speaker 5: because I think they do have the players for it.
- 11:23Speaker 5: But you know, we just have to kind of wait
- 11:25Speaker 5: and see how it all comes together.
- 11:28Speaker 7: Next team or do I have to put on my
- 11:30Speaker 7: do I have to put on my announcer voice to
- 11:32Speaker 7: do this?
- 11:32Speaker 4: Ye oh wait, we're all playing any of that? Okay?
- 11:34Speaker 1: I do?
- 11:35Speaker 4: Sorry? Oh all right?
- 11:37Speaker 7: Uh. For our next team, we have the number six
- 11:41Speaker 7: college football reigning champion Indiana Hoosiers.
- 11:45Speaker 3: Too high, too low or just right?
- 11:49Speaker 1: I could promise you. Signetti feels like it's way too
- 11:51Speaker 1: high or low. I forget. I don't know how to
- 11:53Speaker 1: play the game. But he feels disrespected and he's using
- 11:56Speaker 1: it as a chip. There's no question about it.
- 11:58Speaker 4: Go ahead, I would.
- 12:00Speaker 6: Say too low.
- 12:01Speaker 5: I would have put Indiana above Texas through the defending champs.
- 12:05Speaker 6: Yes they have a new quarterback.
- 12:06Speaker 5: Yes they did lose a lot of talent in the
- 12:09Speaker 5: off season, but they also gained some really exciting talent
- 12:13Speaker 5: in the transfer portal.
- 12:14Speaker 6: And Kurt Signetti, as lame and cliche as.
- 12:18Speaker 5: It sounds, is just a winner and knows how to
- 12:20Speaker 5: win games, and knows especially how to win games in
- 12:23Speaker 5: this era of college football.
- 12:25Speaker 6: So I think if you're the defending national champs.
- 12:27Speaker 5: And you won sixteen games, even if you lost the
- 12:29Speaker 5: number one overall pick to the draft, it's kind of like,
- 12:32Speaker 5: I'm with you, prove me.
- 12:33Speaker 6: Wrong, you know.
- 12:35Speaker 3: And Jess, I saw this quote from Kirk Signetti where
- 12:38Speaker 3: if you have any doubts about this Indiana team, part
- 12:40Speaker 3: of my take asked him on what it's going to
- 12:43Speaker 3: be like being hunted this year, and Kirk Signetti said,
- 12:46Speaker 3: I bought a bigger gun, but.
- 12:49Speaker 1: No one hunts number six. I mean he's going to
- 12:52Speaker 1: use that and he should. He deserves better, I mean
- 12:55Speaker 1: he should.
- 12:56Speaker 5: And also they don't really even play anyone until like
- 12:59Speaker 5: weeks seven, I want to say, when they play Ohio State.
- 13:02Speaker 5: So they're gonna start this year like five and oh,
- 13:04Speaker 5: six and oh, and they're all the.
- 13:06Speaker 6: Other teams above them.
- 13:08Speaker 5: A few of them have some tougher games before, so
- 13:10Speaker 5: they might be in the top five by then.
- 13:12Speaker 3: In the A people our next team, the Texas Tech
- 13:17Speaker 3: Red Raiders. Just too high, too low? Or just right?
- 13:22Speaker 1: What a time in college football we're asking about Indiana
- 13:24Speaker 1: and Texas Tech.
- 13:25Speaker 4: It's amazing, It's ridiculous.
- 13:27Speaker 6: I think too low.
- 13:29Speaker 5: I think this team is a lock for a undefeated season.
- 13:33Speaker 6: I'll put it right there. Twelve and oh, I think
- 13:35Speaker 6: they are a lock.
- 13:36Speaker 5: Their win total, I believe was either ten and a
- 13:38Speaker 5: half or eleven and a half, and that was before
- 13:41Speaker 5: the Brennan Soresby situation. But I don't even think it's
- 13:44Speaker 5: really changed since then because the quality of opponent.
- 13:48Speaker 6: Don't get me wrong, I think.
- 13:49Speaker 5: Houston will be pretty good this year. I think Stutts,
- 13:52Speaker 5: what it's surprise you to learn that Houston won ten
- 13:54Speaker 5: games in twenty twenty five, because I think it might
- 13:56Speaker 5: surprise a lot of people. I think Arizona is going
- 13:59Speaker 5: to be really good. I think TCU at the end
- 14:02Speaker 5: of the season could give them a challenge. But I
- 14:04Speaker 5: really think this Texas Tech team, especially the defense and
- 14:06Speaker 5: the players that they have gotten to play in the trenches,
- 14:11Speaker 5: are just so good that I don't I have a
- 14:14Speaker 5: tough time seeing them outside of a top six at
- 14:17Speaker 5: the end of the season.
- 14:18Speaker 6: When we're doing college football playoff rankings.
- 14:20Speaker 1: Brendan Soresby just heard the word lock and ran to
- 14:23Speaker 1: Betett about that.
- 14:24Speaker 6: Uh oh God, I shouldn't did I that was too easy.
- 14:29Speaker 6: I should have done that.
- 14:30Speaker 4: You're welk me right there, come back.
- 14:31Speaker 1: Yes, the first ever guaranteed undefeated season's guaranteed.
- 14:37Speaker 6: It's just not a tough scud. Really, you don't have
- 14:39Speaker 6: to play BYU. It's just the Big twelve.
- 14:42Speaker 5: You're non conference is a joke, like it's abling Christian,
- 14:46Speaker 5: Oregon State and Sam Houston.
- 14:47Speaker 1: Come on, Yes, I'm not questioning you. I haven't looked
- 14:50Speaker 1: at anyone schedule yet, so I'm sorry.
- 14:52Speaker 5: Well, don't worry, I've done it for you.
- 14:55Speaker 4: Go ahead, Mikes, all right.
- 14:59Speaker 7: For our next team, we're gonna go one spot.
- 15:01Speaker 4: Why are you doing it higher?
- 15:04Speaker 3: Because he told me to do.
- 15:04Speaker 4: An announcer boys.
- 15:06Speaker 7: I like it because you can't as I was saying,
- 15:10Speaker 7: one spot higher, and we're going to go to Lane
- 15:14Speaker 7: Kiffin's LSU Tigers at number eleven.
- 15:17Speaker 3: Too high, too low or just right?
- 15:21Speaker 6: That is a tricky one.
- 15:23Speaker 5: I kind of think maybe too low, because I really
- 15:27Speaker 5: like the Charlie Wise junior Lane Kiffin combination when it
- 15:31Speaker 5: comes to offense and making making life easy for their quarterbacks.
- 15:35Speaker 5: And Sam Levitt had he was a little banged up
- 15:37Speaker 5: last year, didn't. I think you played in like seven games,
- 15:41Speaker 5: and it's probably a downgrade compared to Trinidad Champliss. I
- 15:47Speaker 5: don't think that's a hot take, but I do think
- 15:49Speaker 5: what they do offensively will win them games. And I
- 15:52Speaker 5: think that retaining Blake Baker as the defensive coordinator and
- 15:56Speaker 5: having some a little bit more continuity on that side
- 15:59Speaker 5: gives them a better chance at being like a more
- 16:02Speaker 5: well rounded team than maybe some people are giving them
- 16:04Speaker 5: credit for.
- 16:06Speaker 3: The next team up comes from the Daunted SEC Conference
- 16:11Speaker 3: Jess number thirteen, the Alabama Crimson time.
- 16:16Speaker 4: Please say too high or too long?
- 16:18Speaker 3: Too high, too low or just right?
- 16:22Speaker 4: Wait? Is the highest number one or is the lowest
- 16:25Speaker 4: number one? Okay? Good? All right? Too high too low eight.
- 16:28Speaker 4: That's both you.
- 16:29Speaker 5: Got it, you got don't overthink it. I think they're
- 16:32Speaker 5: ranked too high. I think they should be out of
- 16:35Speaker 5: the top fifteen. Frankly, I was really not impressed with
- 16:39Speaker 5: the way their season ended.
- 16:41Speaker 6: No one was.
- 16:41Speaker 5: They got blown out by Indiana and the Rose Bowl,
- 16:44Speaker 5: and this year, I just don't know if I've seen
- 16:47Speaker 5: enough proven answers on the offensive side. The quarterback situation
- 16:51Speaker 5: is still a little bit up in the air, but
- 16:53Speaker 5: they don't have a ton of experience if they go
- 16:55Speaker 5: with Keilon Russell, the five star recruit, and I just
- 16:59Speaker 5: I have a lot of QUI just about the offense
- 17:00Speaker 5: in general. I do think the defense is still going
- 17:02Speaker 5: to be really, really good, and I think their secondary
- 17:05Speaker 5: will probably be really good, so it'll be tough for
- 17:07Speaker 5: other teams to score on them, and I think.
- 17:10Speaker 6: That definitely helps.
- 17:11Speaker 5: But I just I need to see them fix this
- 17:14Speaker 5: offense before I'm like, yeah, this is a really underrated
- 17:18Speaker 5: Alabama team.
- 17:21Speaker 1: All right, Mikey, go ahead, take it away with your
- 17:23Speaker 1: broadcast thory voice.
- 17:25Speaker 7: Okay, for our last one?
- 17:27Speaker 4: Is this better if I do it like this?
- 17:29Speaker 7: Okay for our last one, Jess, Yes, it is Number sixteen.
- 17:33Speaker 7: Don't tell them the Ohio State game matters Michigan too high,
- 17:39Speaker 7: too low?
- 17:40Speaker 5: Just right.
- 17:41Speaker 6: I kind of think it's just right. Yes, I kind
- 17:43Speaker 6: of think it's just kind of where you would put
- 17:45Speaker 6: anything out of the top fifteen. It's teams that.
- 17:49Speaker 5: Might win, you know, between like nine and ten games,
- 17:53Speaker 5: give or take. And I think that I like Kyle
- 17:56Speaker 5: Whittingham as a replacement there at head coach. I think
- 17:59Speaker 5: the defensive coordinator who came from BUYU is a good
- 18:02Speaker 5: defensive coordinator.
- 18:03Speaker 6: And I like the Jason Beck edition at OC working with.
- 18:07Speaker 5: Bryce Underwood, who was a true freshman last year, and
- 18:10Speaker 5: I just think needs more support and needs to like
- 18:15Speaker 5: just kind of improve in his finesse. And also like
- 18:19Speaker 5: the way that the offense is called. I think could
- 18:21Speaker 5: probably support him a little bit more so. I like
- 18:24Speaker 5: the transfers they've brought in their schedules.
- 18:27Speaker 6: Okay, it's not the hardest schedule. It's not the easiest schedule.
- 18:30Speaker 5: They have the you know, Oregon, Ohio State, Indiana and
- 18:35Speaker 5: Oklahoma games, which are gonna be tough. But if you
- 18:38Speaker 5: if you maybe you have an upset in one of
- 18:39Speaker 5: those games and then win the games that you're supposed
- 18:42Speaker 5: to win beat the Iowas of the world and the
- 18:43Speaker 5: penn States of the world.
- 18:44Speaker 6: Like, I think that's a good season for Michigan this year.
- 18:58Speaker 1: And she is the host of The Echo's podcast with
- 19:01Speaker 1: Gojo and host the College Football Happy Hour with Lucy Rodin,
- 19:04Speaker 1: available on YouTube.
- 19:05Speaker 4: I did that just to make you smile again.
- 19:07Speaker 1: We have another game to play called hand Up. We'll
- 19:09Speaker 1: get to it in just a second. Were you surprised
- 19:11Speaker 1: that not a single SEC team received a first place
- 19:15Speaker 1: vote from anyone in the AP.
- 19:18Speaker 5: I was a little surprised that Georgia didn't get any,
- 19:21Speaker 5: Like I figured they'd get one or two. I think
- 19:23Speaker 5: that's the team where they won the SEC championship last year.
- 19:27Speaker 5: They return a lot of younger players on their defense.
- 19:30Speaker 5: Gunner Stockton's back Kirby Smarts won multiple national championships.
- 19:33Speaker 6: I'm surprised they didn't get one vote.
- 19:34Speaker 3: Right.
- 19:35Speaker 1: It's crazy, weird, but it's shifting and that's a good thing,
- 19:38Speaker 1: I think because I'm tired of the SEC.
- 19:39Speaker 4: Let's play hand Up. Give me the music, oh.
- 19:44Speaker 3: Just I also had one last week that I wanted
- 19:46Speaker 3: to get your take on not dancing for I had
- 19:50Speaker 3: a hand up last week, I didn't realize Brian Bosworth
- 19:53Speaker 3: the bos was the sheriff in the doctor Pepper commercial.
- 19:59Speaker 1: He had no idea, okay, we would do a college
- 20:01Speaker 1: football villains.
- 20:02Speaker 4: I think, yes, hand up.
- 20:05Speaker 5: I have some form of amnesia that only occurs when
- 20:10Speaker 5: commercials are on, where you know how people have like
- 20:13Speaker 5: face blindness. We're like they'll see a face, but they
- 20:15Speaker 5: can't register it. Like that happens to me during commercials.
- 20:19Speaker 5: Everything goes blank and I have never Like I am
- 20:23Speaker 5: not kidding, I couldn't tell you a single commercial that's
- 20:26Speaker 5: on TV right now because my brain just goes completely
- 20:30Speaker 5: smooth when it's a commercial break.
- 20:32Speaker 7: Those Colonel Sanders KFC commercials where they had different actors
- 20:36Speaker 7: dressing up as the colonel, they must have just terrified
- 20:39Speaker 7: you because it was always somewhat famous, but you couldn't
- 20:41Speaker 7: tell who it was.
- 20:43Speaker 5: I mean, I don't think, I don't know. I don't
- 20:45Speaker 5: even know what you're talking about. I don't think I
- 20:46Speaker 5: saw boy.
- 20:47Speaker 4: I think I just.
- 20:47Speaker 6: Blacked out during them.
- 20:49Speaker 3: Just last week, I googled where is Brian Bosworth now?
- 20:52Speaker 3: And when I got to Google images, I was like,
- 20:55Speaker 3: why do they keep showing me the sheriff from Dr Pepper.
- 20:57Speaker 4: That's where I didn't know.
- 20:59Speaker 6: I didn't know that either.
- 21:01Speaker 5: And I've heard that the Fansville commercials are incredible and
- 21:04Speaker 5: the world building is so great. I just have never
- 21:07Speaker 5: registered a single commercial in my life, so I'll start.
- 21:10Speaker 3: It for this week. Okay, I was watching a soccer match,
- 21:13Speaker 3: Ashton Villa versus PSG. They have this villa has a
- 21:17Speaker 3: seventeen year old Brian Majo, and he's from Luxembourg. Hand up,
- 21:22Speaker 3: I didn't know Luxembourg was a country. I thought that
- 21:25Speaker 3: was just a city in like the Netherlands.
- 21:26Speaker 4: Get out of here.
- 21:29Speaker 6: But I mean it's very, very small.
- 21:32Speaker 1: If that makes you feel better, yes, put it on
- 21:34Speaker 1: the poll.
- 21:34Speaker 4: Did you know Luxembourg was a country.
- 21:36Speaker 3: Yeah, But if I told you were going to Luxembourg, Belgium,
- 21:38Speaker 3: that kind of sounds right.
- 21:40Speaker 6: Yeah, I mean it got that's fair. I think you
- 21:42Speaker 6: could definitely trick someone that way.
- 21:45Speaker 1: What are you saying it's the rare country that also
- 21:47Speaker 1: sounds like it could be a country.
- 21:48Speaker 3: Capital Luxembourg, Netherlands.
- 21:51Speaker 4: Yes, if you say so, Mike, Yeah, you got one
- 21:55Speaker 4: for us.
- 21:57Speaker 7: Sure.
- 21:57Speaker 3: Hand up.
- 21:59Speaker 7: I'm overdoing it with the fantasy football prep and I'm
- 22:02Speaker 7: kind of getting embarrassed with how much I'm doing, whether
- 22:06Speaker 7: it be mock drafting or reading. I've got about four
- 22:09Speaker 7: magazines in front of me, and I'm not very good
- 22:11Speaker 7: at it.
- 22:12Speaker 4: We'll stop doing it.
- 22:13Speaker 6: Yeah, it's a little information on.
- 22:15Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 22:16Speaker 5: I quit Fantasy Cold Turkey like three years ago because
- 22:19Speaker 5: I was like in way too deep and really it
- 22:21Speaker 5: was like impact, yeah.
- 22:23Speaker 1: Wait, hold on, I'd like, go ahead, how many leagues
- 22:25Speaker 1: were you in, like at the height of your fantasy Like,
- 22:28Speaker 1: how many leagues were you in at one time?
- 22:31Speaker 5: It wasn't just the fantasy leagues. It was like the
- 22:33Speaker 5: pick'm pools I was in, so like combined. I think
- 22:35Speaker 5: it was probably like approaching like ten in a season,
- 22:39Speaker 5: and so like my Thursday and my Friday, I would
- 22:43Speaker 5: just be like.
- 22:43Speaker 3: I gotta get my picks.
- 22:44Speaker 5: In before the weekend, and like it would, I would
- 22:46Speaker 5: spend hours just making sure I was like set, and
- 22:49Speaker 5: it'd probably be better if I was just like, let
- 22:51Speaker 5: me slim this down.
- 22:51Speaker 6: Maybe I only do you want or two? But I
- 22:53Speaker 6: decided just to quit Cold Turkey.
- 22:55Speaker 3: Just I quit Cold Turkey preseason magazines this year really, yeah,
- 22:59Speaker 3: because I get the magazines I flipped to, like who
- 23:03Speaker 3: North Carolina is playing. And then the second the season starts, Yes,
- 23:07Speaker 3: that Phil Steel one.
- 23:08Speaker 4: And let me be the classic. It's that classic.
- 23:10Speaker 3: Let me be the first to say on this program
- 23:12Speaker 3: the people that are doing counterfeit magazines of Phil Steel
- 23:16Speaker 3: on Amazon, shame on you. Yes, dedicates a ton of
- 23:20Speaker 3: time to doing those magazines. Yes, magazines I used to enjoy.
- 23:23Speaker 3: The problem just is the second the season starts, I
- 23:27Speaker 3: will never open that magazine ever again.
- 23:29Speaker 2: You know.
- 23:30Speaker 5: I think that's fair, and that's why the magazines are
- 23:33Speaker 5: great for the preseason. And for instance, this weekend, I
- 23:37Speaker 5: was on a long train ride and it was cold
- 23:40Speaker 5: and the Wi Fi was crappy, so I snuck this
- 23:42Speaker 5: bad Boy in my backpack, my Phil Steel college football preview,
- 23:47Speaker 5: and I just flipped through it and I didn't have
- 23:49Speaker 5: to use internet, and it was great and I learned
- 23:51Speaker 5: so much Taylor, which kind of leads me to my
- 23:54Speaker 5: hand up.
- 23:54Speaker 6: Actually, all right, hand up. This time of year, when
- 23:58Speaker 6: it comes to whether or.
- 23:59Speaker 5: Not a college football team is good or bad, you
- 24:03Speaker 5: could kind of convince me of anything, like if you
- 24:05Speaker 5: make a convincing enough argument for like North Carolina is
- 24:10Speaker 5: their defense.
- 24:11Speaker 6: Is gonna be good enough? That they're gonna win seven games.
- 24:13Speaker 5: I'd be like, yeah, okay, great, I'll buy it. Like
- 24:17Speaker 5: you can kind of convince me of just about anything
- 24:20Speaker 5: right now, because everything is a blank slate, and I
- 24:23Speaker 5: feel like I'm very easily swayed.
- 24:26Speaker 3: The quarterback play was so bad at North Carolina last season, yeah,
- 24:30Speaker 3: that it was hard to evaluate the rest of the roster.
- 24:32Speaker 3: So if the quarterback is even just slightly better, they
- 24:35Speaker 3: could be better this season, right.
- 24:37Speaker 5: Taylor, There's so many things you could I'm not saying
- 24:40Speaker 5: like you could convince.
- 24:40Speaker 6: Me they're a playoff team. That's not what I mean.
- 24:42Speaker 5: I just mean like you could give me the optimistic
- 24:44Speaker 5: or pessimistic explanation for each team and I'd be like, yeah,
- 24:48Speaker 5: that's probably gonna happen. Like, oh, well, you know, Billy
- 24:50Speaker 5: Edwards had a couple of games at Maryland, so I
- 24:52Speaker 5: mean maybe maybe they got something there. Like the other day,
- 24:55Speaker 5: I'm like reading about TCU and I'm like this transfer
- 24:58Speaker 5: quarterback from Harvard.
- 24:59Speaker 6: He's the IVY.
- 25:00Speaker 5: He's a Harvard passing leader of all time, like first team,
- 25:03Speaker 5: I'll I be, you know, big body, and like he
- 25:06Speaker 5: he is probably gonna upset Texas Tech and then I'm like,
- 25:09Speaker 5: all right, you gotta pump the brakes.
- 25:13Speaker 6: I know exactly. That's my point. I'm very very susceptible.
- 25:18Speaker 6: That's a loss.
- 25:18Speaker 5: I'm very susceptible to people's arguments one way or another.
- 25:23Speaker 4: All right, all right, so I'm up here.
- 25:25Speaker 1: Hand up the thing I said earlier about the delivery
- 25:28Speaker 1: driver and the dog.
- 25:30Speaker 4: I was lying.
- 25:31Speaker 1: Listen, if I am delivering food to your house and
- 25:34Speaker 1: you know I'm coming to your house, and you let
- 25:37Speaker 1: your dog just wander free and attack me as I'm
- 25:39Speaker 1: bringing you your dinner, get the hell out of here,
- 25:42Speaker 1: Phil Simms. The audacity to that, to have this guy
- 25:46Speaker 1: come deliver you food over and over and over again,
- 25:49Speaker 1: knowing he's afraid of your dog, and still letting your
- 25:51Speaker 1: dog run free, it's ridiculous. If I'm the delivery guy,
- 25:55Speaker 1: I don't even go to the house. How about that
- 25:57Speaker 1: you keep the food? Yes, I need it.
- 26:00Speaker 5: Someone's gotta grab Chris sims By the buttoned up collar
- 26:04Speaker 5: and just shake it.
- 26:05Speaker 6: Say what are you thinking.
- 26:07Speaker 1: I can't believe I agree with it. On the front end,
- 26:11Speaker 1: we ashamed for ourselves. Yes, Jess, thank you for doing this.
- 26:14Speaker 1: We appreciate it. Check her out the Echoes podcast with
- 26:18Speaker 1: Gojo and the host of College Football Happy Hour with
- 26:21Speaker 1: Lucy Rodin. It's available on YouTube. I'm very excited for that.
- 26:25Speaker 1: Thank you for doing this, Chest, We appreciate. It's always
- 26:27Speaker 1: great to see you anytime.
- 26:30Speaker 4: It was a very formal goodbye.
