- 1:17SPEAKER_00: Two games last weekend against the Camros Kodiaks.
- 1:20SPEAKER_00: Two completely different games.
- 1:23SPEAKER_00: Unfortunately, it was not the results that the Eagles wanted.
- 1:28SPEAKER_00: But let's just take a look at what was in the weekly recap.
- 1:34SPEAKER_00: Camor, welcome the Camros Kodiaks for a weekend doubleheader.
- 1:39SPEAKER_00: It's the second and third meeting of the season for the Eagles.
- 1:43SPEAKER_00: They beat the Kodiaks first game of the season home opener banner raising night by a score of four to three.
- 1:49SPEAKER_00: Camros came into this this weekend with a record of 2-5-0-4 for last place in the South Division.
- 1:57SPEAKER_00: But what the Eagles learned this weekend, and I'm sure everybody in the AJHL, was that their record didn't accurately reflect what kind of team they are.
- 2:07SPEAKER_00: Very good defensively, very opportunistic, scoring-wise, good structured, good, well-coached team.
- 2:14SPEAKER_00: And the Eagles found that out.
- 2:16SPEAKER_00: It was a shootout Friday night very entertaining game in game of the year.
- 2:21SPEAKER_00: Steven Warwick got to start once again in between pipes.
- 2:23SPEAKER_00: Let's take a look at some of the highlights.
- 2:26SPEAKER_00: With red and black accents, and of course, they're under direction of head coach Jeff Walker as we are underway.
- 2:32SPEAKER_00: Thanks for joining us on Flow Hockey against Murray.
- 2:38SPEAKER_00: Dimbo, Karmanisky, right in! Dimbo with a shot! He scores! Top shelf! Wormbob keeps a peanut butter away from the kids! Finally, Ryder Dembo scores a goal! And it's one to nothing with 1046 left to go in the first period.
- 2:53SPEAKER_00: A spinnerama played over to Karmanisky.
- 2:55SPEAKER_00: Here comes a three-on-one.
- 2:57SPEAKER_00: Insinger, Dimbo! Insinger scores! Tick tack! Goal! Pretty goal! Bryson Insinger! Goal and assist! And it's two to nothing for the Eagles with 1345 left to go.
- 3:12SPEAKER_00: Thought it was going to be a trip call against Brody Dows.
- 3:14SPEAKER_00: We play on, he's got the puck now.
- 3:16SPEAKER_00: Giving away Brain in the slot.
- 3:18SPEAKER_00: He scores! Hunter E's third of the season after a giveaway by Dows.
- 3:24SPEAKER_00: And he'll go right in over to Ozzy Corner and look out.
- 3:28SPEAKER_00: It's now two to one for the Eagles.
- 3:30SPEAKER_00: Allo in the corner tries to feed Reapin Freddy Scours! Off of the stick of Kenor! And the pressure of the fourth line pays dividend! They got their two goal lead back! Caden Hayes, second of the season! In the slot with a shot, not missed.
- 3:46SPEAKER_00: Dahaas has got it.
- 3:48SPEAKER_00: Up top frost.
- 3:49SPEAKER_00: He'll ring the puck all the way around.
- 3:51SPEAKER_00: Tulakoff waiting for it.
- 3:52SPEAKER_00: Plays it in front.
- 3:53SPEAKER_00: That shot.
- 3:54SPEAKER_00: It is Omen in the face and they score! Tulakoff! I don't I thought it was Tulakoff on the doorstep.
- 4:03SPEAKER_00: It's not.
- 4:04SPEAKER_00: It's Spencer Masters.
- 4:06SPEAKER_00: Takes one in the face, able to put the puck home.
- 4:08SPEAKER_00: And it's three to two with five ten left to go.
- 4:11SPEAKER_00: One by the Kodiaks.
- 4:13SPEAKER_00: Over to Frost.
- 4:14SPEAKER_00: Top of the line.
- 4:15SPEAKER_00: Plays over to Murray.
- 4:16SPEAKER_00: Walks right in.
- 4:17SPEAKER_00: His pass looking backdoor.
- 4:18SPEAKER_00: Blocked a score! De Haas has got two! After he'll pick up the puck in the slot after a block pass.
- 4:25SPEAKER_00: The power play finally clicks! And it's now three to three with three ten left to go.
- 4:30SPEAKER_00: They still have 30, sorry, three minutes 21 seconds on the double miner.
- 4:34SPEAKER_00: Morg's final minute of play here in the second period.
- 4:37SPEAKER_00: Feeds it out in front, Wadsworth Bull.
- 4:39SPEAKER_00: Poked out away from Daas.
- 4:40SPEAKER_00: Tulakoff.
- 4:42SPEAKER_00: On the half wall, down low, they score! Sweeping it in! In front! I didn't see though.
- 4:51SPEAKER_00: I believe that's Spencer Masters.
- 4:53SPEAKER_00: It is! He's got his second of the season, and the Kodiaks will get their first lead after a couple of power play goals.
- 5:02SPEAKER_00: 37.6 seconds left to go.
- 5:06SPEAKER_00: One timer stopped.
- 5:07SPEAKER_00: Rebound! Mill can't find it! DeChuck has a stick tied up to Dimbo! He scored! Ryder Dimbo's got two! Russ Colden, what an important power play goal! And it's four to four with 16-42 left! We'll start things up behind the net.
- 5:25SPEAKER_00: Former Vancouver giant long cross ice pass Insinger.
- 5:28SPEAKER_00: That's denied.
- 5:29SPEAKER_00: Hayes has got to be careful.
- 5:30SPEAKER_00: Two Kodiaks are in there.
- 5:31SPEAKER_00: He'll give the puck away to Yee.
- 5:32SPEAKER_00: Walks right in.
- 5:33SPEAKER_00: Yee curls and fires.
- 5:34SPEAKER_00: He scores! Short-handed! As a giveaway by Keenan Hayes, and the Kodiaks will take the lead right back! Five to four with 558 left to go.
- 5:46SPEAKER_00: Shorthand and off the boards.
- 5:50SPEAKER_00: Nice pass over to Dembo.
- 5:51SPEAKER_00: Over to Cohen Dows.
- 5:52SPEAKER_00: Walks right in is shot blocked on the play.
- 5:54SPEAKER_00: Edwards to the line can't get it out.
- 5:56SPEAKER_00: Gomez, Dembo, eight seconds left to go.
- 6:00SPEAKER_00: Gomez to Dows.
- 6:01SPEAKER_00: Walks right in backdoor.
- 6:03SPEAKER_00: Mill with a shot stop the crador.
- 6:04SPEAKER_00: Rebound, they score! And it's a chuck the captain! You need a goal, you give him a call! As after the power play ended, it's five to five with 431 left to go.
- 6:17SPEAKER_00: Here comes Ryder Dambo as Hagen Pierre to calls top left, he says.
- 6:22SPEAKER_00: Demo very similar to how he started the shootout against the Four McMurray Arab Coil Bears.
- 6:29SPEAKER_00: His shot stopped by Kannor! He was able to get a glove on it.
- 6:32SPEAKER_00: Last time he went high blocker.
- 6:34SPEAKER_00: This time tries to go high glove.
- 6:36SPEAKER_00: Stoned by Kenor.
- 6:38SPEAKER_00: Now it's Tucker Tulicoff.
- 6:41SPEAKER_00: Former Amenton Oil King will work in.
- 6:44SPEAKER_00: One-on-one with Warwick.
- 6:45SPEAKER_00: Stops.
- 6:46SPEAKER_00: His shot stopped by it just stays out as Warwick able to get a stick on him.
- 6:53SPEAKER_01: That bounced on the goal line almost.
- 6:56SPEAKER_00: Here comes Cohen Dell.
- 6:57SPEAKER_00: Swiss speed.
- 6:58SPEAKER_00: One-on-one.
- 6:59SPEAKER_00: He'll stop Koendell's nice move.
- 7:00SPEAKER_00: What a stop by Kannor! Adam Denton right to Kannor able to get the pat on it.
- 7:06SPEAKER_00: Brandon DeHucks.
- 7:08SPEAKER_00: One-on-one with Warwick.
- 7:10SPEAKER_00: Still waiting for our first goal in the shootout.
- 7:13SPEAKER_00: Here comes the Haas.
- 7:14SPEAKER_00: Stops his shot.
- 7:15SPEAKER_00: What a stop by Warwick! Robs him with the glove.
- 7:19SPEAKER_00: Here comes Aiden Touchuk.
- 7:21SPEAKER_00: The captain.
- 7:23SPEAKER_00: One-on-one with Connor Kannor.
- 7:25SPEAKER_00: Still waiting for our first goal in overtime.
- 7:28SPEAKER_00: To chuck right in.
- 7:30SPEAKER_00: As Kanor micks, he scores! What a goal by Aiden Touchuk! And Steven Warwick can win it! Here comes E.
- 7:41SPEAKER_00: One-on-one with Steven Warwick.
- 7:43SPEAKER_00: Drives wide.
- 7:44SPEAKER_00: Yee on the backhand comes right in.
- 7:46SPEAKER_00: In shot.
- 7:46SPEAKER_00: He scores! Goes five hole on Warwick and we play him on.
- 7:51SPEAKER_00: Pretty soon the coaches will probably have to go, but here comes Carver driving wide.
- 7:56SPEAKER_00: Backhand, he scores! And the Camros Kodiaks, for the first time this season, win in the shootout! Final score in this one, six to five! What a goaltending performance by Connor Kennor! Came down to back-to-back shootouts, but this time it just wasn't in the Eagles' favor.
- 8:17SPEAKER_00: And then they turned their attention to Saturday night where they look to get a little bit of revenge against the Camros.
- 8:25SPEAKER_00: Kodiaks, unfortunately, they dropped that one by a score of 2-2-1.
- 8:30SPEAKER_00: Cohen Dows got the only goal for the Eagles.
- 8:33SPEAKER_00: Hudson Sido made his return in between the pipes, make a 23 of 25 stops.
- 8:38SPEAKER_00: Connor Kenor was once again spectacular in this game.
- 8:41SPEAKER_00: I was talking with Russ on the broadcast.
- 8:44SPEAKER_00: We were quite surprised that Connor Kenora was getting the start after how much work he had on Friday night.
- 8:49SPEAKER_00: But once again, he held down the fort.
- 8:52SPEAKER_00: And also the Kodiak's defense credit did a great job blocking shots.
- 8:57SPEAKER_00: Connor Frost, two goals in that one, which was the difference.
- 9:01SPEAKER_00: And it was a tough weekend, but I think this weekend, and one of the themes this in practice this week from Andrew Milne was that the Eagles are going to get everybody's best.
- 9:13SPEAKER_00: They have a large target on their backs in the defending champs.
- 9:17SPEAKER_00: And it doesn't matter if they're first place in their division, second place, or in last, the Eagles are going to get everybody's best.
- 9:25SPEAKER_00: They're top goaltender, their top four check, their top everything.
- 9:29SPEAKER_00: So the Eagles have to be ready, and we are going to be ready for the Devin Extreme.
- 9:34SPEAKER_00: We'll get into that a little bit later on.
- 9:35SPEAKER_00: But next, let's head into the interview portion of this show.
- 9:40SPEAKER_00: We sat down with 20-year-old defenseman, veteran defenseman, number 15, Quinn Keeler.
- 9:47SPEAKER_00: Enjoy the interview.
- 10:01SPEAKER_00: Keels, how's it going today?
- 10:02SPEAKER_00: It's pretty good.
- 10:03SPEAKER_00: Appreciate you having me on this.
- 10:05SPEAKER_00: Hey, no worries.
- 10:06SPEAKER_00: How's uh how's your assessment of the season so far?
- 10:08SPEAKER_00: We're about you know 15 games in, 13 games in.
- 10:12SPEAKER_00: What's your assessment so far?
- 10:14SPEAKER_00: Uh I think overall it's been um pretty good.
- 10:17SPEAKER_00: I think we're still still learning a lot.
- 10:19SPEAKER_00: Um, you know, he's got a younger decor this year, so um just trying to you know put in the work in practice and you know develop.
- 10:27SPEAKER_00: Um but overall I think it's been uh pretty solid.
- 10:30SPEAKER_00: Quinn talking about your game this year, how do you like it coming into your 20-year-old season?
- 10:35SPEAKER_00: Uh the captain this year, you're asked to play more situations, penalty kill, power play, higher minutes.
- 10:42SPEAKER_00: How do you think your game's been so far?
- 10:44SPEAKER_00: I think I've been handling it um very well this season.
- 10:47SPEAKER_00: Um you know I've I prepared a lot this summer and put in the work um on the ice and off ice, so I think I've stepped into a a pretty good role this year and um super pumped to continue to get going with the season.
- 11:02SPEAKER_00: So let's start back to your time and you're just a kid playing hockey in Calgary there.
- 11:07SPEAKER_00: What did you most enjoy about the game that you can remember when you're starting where you're just like, man, I want to continue pursuing hockey and playing hockey?
- 11:17SPEAKER_00: I think it was just like getting better every single year was just something that was like, wow, I I want to keep going and see where I can uh end up.
- 11:27SPEAKER_00: Like starting in I played Atom 6 and then went to Atom 2 and never really played on the top teams, and then U-15 finally made a double A team and then got cut from the triple A team, so it's just and then that year like got better, built more confidence, and then finally made some U18, triple A, and just just to see the process is is I think a main thing of just why I want to keep keep going.
- 11:54SPEAKER_00: Was there a moment kind of in those Adam years, U-15, that you looked at, you're like, man, I want to take hockey as far as I can go?
- 12:03SPEAKER_00: Uh I think like in Pee Wee winning winning um cities finals and then going all the way to provincials was pretty cool.
- 12:10SPEAKER_00: It's just like I was like, okay, well, I can I can do this.
- 12:14SPEAKER_00: And so yeah, I think that's probably uh an important factor in that in that one.
- 12:19SPEAKER_00: Along the path growing up, what was a big challenge for you to work through?
- 12:23SPEAKER_00: Was it getting cut in that U15 year?
- 12:26SPEAKER_00: Was it maybe you were smaller?
- 12:28SPEAKER_00: I was a smaller defenseman out there, playing the hitting, getting pushed around out there.
- 12:32SPEAKER_00: Um, what was your biggest challenge?
- 12:34SPEAKER_00: What did it teach you about yourself?
- 12:36SPEAKER_00: Um obviously uh getting cut um sucks.
- 12:40SPEAKER_00: Um so that U-15 year, like I think I went back I went back to U15 triple or double A, sorry, and was the captain.
- 12:48SPEAKER_00: Um I think I just got better or built confidence, kind of was that guy in U15 AA.
- 12:53SPEAKER_00: So it was like just kind of building on confidence and my game.
- 12:57SPEAKER_00: And then also my first year juniors, just like being in and out of the lineup, just like taught me a lot that I need to get better and and work on my feet or work on deceptive moves or or whatnot.
- 13:10SPEAKER_00: But I think just like playing playing a role where it was like in and out of the lineup was just like something I look back on.
- 13:18SPEAKER_00: It's like, wow, I need I need to get a little better on uh certain things.
- 13:21SPEAKER_00: So obviously you've been a leader before, you've worn a letter.
- 13:24SPEAKER_00: What's kind of your leadership style?
- 13:26SPEAKER_00: Are you loud out there?
- 13:27SPEAKER_00: Are you kind of quiet lead by example?
- 13:29SPEAKER_00: And then who have you really learned from whether it's your time and your captains you've had in the past that you've kind of picked up on, or you're like, man, I kind of want to be a leader like that?
- 13:41SPEAKER_00: Yeah, um, I'd say I'm more of like a lead by example kind of guy.
- 13:46SPEAKER_00: I mean, I like to use my voice when it's necessary, but just being a guy that you can always kind of talk to.
- 13:52SPEAKER_00: Um, you know, I like to, you know, goof around and have fun with the guys, but you know, uh have but also have a conversation with me is uh something that you can do as well.
- 14:02SPEAKER_00: But uh and then someone I looked up to, like my f my first year being in Cranbrook, like the captain, it was Bryce Sukro.
- 14:11SPEAKER_00: He was he was awesome.
- 14:12SPEAKER_00: So just learning from him and the way he kind of carried himself and the way he used his voice and um showed the younger guys, which was me, how to how to play like high-level hockey.
- 14:23SPEAKER_00: So I think he was a big you know stepping stone and and what I wanted to you know learn from him.
- 14:29SPEAKER_00: So I always I'm always interested in different players from different zones coming to Canmore.
- 14:34SPEAKER_00: How how did they find you in junior hockey?
- 14:37SPEAKER_00: Obviously, you played for Cranbrook as well, but what was that kind of process put uh in you becoming a Canmore Eagle?
- 14:43SPEAKER_00: Um honestly it was it was a bit of a shock to me.
- 14:48SPEAKER_00: Um I was hurt while I was in Cranbrook uh my first year and then went all the way to Lloyd Minister uh my second year, and then I kind of got traded out of nowhere.
- 14:57SPEAKER_00: Um but I honestly like I couldn't have been more happy to join the Camor Eagles just based on last year and winning it all.
- 15:06SPEAKER_00: Like it was pretty up and down season last year, getting hurt and then not playing a whole lot and then getting traded.
- 15:13SPEAKER_00: It was just it was crazy, but I couldn't have worked out any better.
- 15:17SPEAKER_00: Um but yeah.
- 15:19SPEAKER_00: And obviously playing in Camor, there's no better place.
- 15:23SPEAKER_00: Just talk about playing in this community in front of these fans, the Aussie corner, getting wild every single game, um just your experiences playing hockey here in this community.
- 15:33SPEAKER_00: Well, this community is unreal.
- 15:35SPEAKER_00: Like like with the games always being packed, and you know, a bunch of support from my teammates, like this place is is something special.
- 15:43SPEAKER_00: Um, also, it's only an hour away from home, so my mom and dad can come out a bunch.
- 15:48SPEAKER_00: Um and just being in the mountains is is something pretty cool too.
- 15:53SPEAKER_00: Jumping back to that kind of transition going from um minor league hockey to junior hockey here.
- 15:59SPEAKER_00: What was kind of your welcome to junior hockey moment?
- 16:03SPEAKER_00: What was it your first game?
- 16:04SPEAKER_00: Maybe you got ran over by somebody, maybe you scored a goal, maybe it was kind of the speed.
- 16:09SPEAKER_00: But what was your welcome to junior hockey moment?
- 16:12SPEAKER_00: All that stuff.
- 16:14SPEAKER_00: But I would say just my first year, just like practices, like um right off the start were just like just a lot faster, um, quicker.
- 16:25SPEAKER_00: Honestly, like whereas I like look back at it, it honestly like the better the player, like the more like available they're gonna be, like they know where to be on the ice.
- 16:35SPEAKER_00: Um, so I I think just like the speed of the game was just quicker, but I I learned learned from it and and kind of adapted and almost found it easier because it's just there's people everywhere and they know where to be.
- 16:46SPEAKER_00: So what as a defenseman?
- 16:48SPEAKER_00: I find this interesting too, just because I was a defenseman.
- 16:51SPEAKER_00: What could you get away in minor hockey that you can't get away in junior uh playing as a defenseman now?
- 16:56SPEAKER_00: Uh I would say probably probably you can't carry the puck as much, you know.
- 17:01SPEAKER_00: You kind of have to use your options and move pucks up, like you can't kind of do it all yourself anymore.
- 17:07SPEAKER_00: So just um being being uh an option for someone else to like I think it's just yeah, that what um as you adjusted, so as you got used to the junior game, what a part of your game have you become more confident in yourself in?
- 17:25SPEAKER_00: Is it carrying the puck?
- 17:26SPEAKER_00: Is it direct uh quarterbacking the power play?
- 17:29SPEAKER_00: Is it your defensive play, your defensive positioning on the ice?
- 17:32SPEAKER_00: What have you become more confident on that you can lean back on?
- 17:36SPEAKER_00: I think just like my breakouts, like I I can kind of read the fore check if they're coming fast or not.
- 17:42SPEAKER_00: Um, and then kind of taking a shoulder check and making that first pass.
- 17:46SPEAKER_00: I think I just super confident with that.
- 17:49SPEAKER_00: Um, so yeah, I would say that.
- 17:51SPEAKER_00: You you I I've watched a lot of your games now and you're very calm presence out there on the ice.
- 17:57SPEAKER_00: You don't seem to get too involved with the extracurricular or anything like that, the rough stuff.
- 18:03SPEAKER_00: Uh, but when things aren't going your way on the ice, you've had a difficult shift.
- 18:08SPEAKER_00: Uh, what helps you settle back into the game and don't let it affect you so much where your game takes a hit?
- 18:15SPEAKER_00: Um, I think like it's pretty funny, but um I watched Ted Lashell and it's just like they have the saying, it's like have a mind like a goldfish kind of thing.
- 18:25SPEAKER_00: So as soon as I get back to the bench, if I have a bad shift, I just just say, you know, whatever happens, just be better than X shift kind of thing.
- 18:34SPEAKER_00: And we we've always talked about that even last year with Ernie, like win the shift, and and just like you can't do anything about the past, so you just kind of have to move on and and continue it with you, and let's think back to your first rookie year.
- 18:49SPEAKER_00: How are the veterans to you and welcoming in that you're kind of taking in that leadership role and welcoming the rookies?
- 18:56SPEAKER_00: Because you do have um a few rookies on the team this year.
- 18:59SPEAKER_00: Yeah, so what do you do in the room that kind of welcomes them in to the locker room and into the culture uh that you know you experienced that helped you out?
- 19:09SPEAKER_00: I think just being a nice person, being a nice human being and and just kind of being welcoming.
- 19:15SPEAKER_00: Like I know as a rookie year, like I would I was nervous going into Cranbrook.
- 19:19SPEAKER_00: So um I got a lot of help from the older guys just talking to me, having a conversation.
- 19:25SPEAKER_00: Um so I'd say that just being like a guy that you can come to and and talk to, um, I think is a is a main and important important part of the yeah.
- 19:34SPEAKER_00: So let's talk about the championship year last year.
- 19:38SPEAKER_00: Um what were your what ran through your head when the zeros ticked down, you threw your gloves in the air, um, thinking about that time you got traded unexpectedly, you were hurt, just what did that feeling mean to you, and just what was the overall feeling to winning a championship?
- 19:54SPEAKER_00: I I kid you not, like that was probably best feeling in the world.
- 19:59SPEAKER_00: Just with all like what I've been through, like that season, like going from Kramer to Ludminister to Camor, and then winning an old thing, like it just couldn't be more rewarding and all the time like I put through the season and the ups and downs, like it just felt like un unbelievable.
- 20:17SPEAKER_00: Like it was it was a surreal moment for sure.
- 20:19SPEAKER_00: Was there a moment last year and you know, Chucky kind of told the story of a meeting at the Legion where it was just kind of like, yeah, boys, we're we're going to take this all the way, we're gonna win.
- 20:29SPEAKER_00: But was there another moment last year other than that meeting that you kind of looked at the group in the room and you're like, man, we got something special here, like we can honestly take this all the way.
- 20:39SPEAKER_00: I think just with the bodies we had, and we had so much depth, like four lines, um forwards, and three pairings of D, and then our two goaltenders that are superstars.
- 20:51SPEAKER_00: So just knowing that we had that depth in um just in practices too, like you can tell, it's just like okay, yeah, we we can do this.
- 21:00SPEAKER_00: And playing in cam, or jumping back to playing in cam or is there anything playing in this community, living in this community that introduced you to something that you wouldn't have tried anywhere else?
- 21:12SPEAKER_00: Like whether it's you know the interaction with the Aussies at the end of the game, maybe there's something in Can Or that's only unique to Canmore.
- 21:20SPEAKER_00: Is there something you've tried that you wouldn't have tried anywhere else playing in this community?
- 21:24SPEAKER_00: Um, well, just being in Canor, like my billets are awesome.
- 21:28SPEAKER_00: Um, so they they have mountain bikes.
- 21:31SPEAKER_00: Um so they me and the billets go out a few times, and I don't really mountain bike in the summer, and it's just been so fun like to get out and outside and you know, go off these little jumps and whatnot and hang out with the billet family.
- 21:43SPEAKER_00: So I'd say that.
- 21:45SPEAKER_00: Me and bikes don't mix.
- 21:46SPEAKER_00: I've gone head over heels over uh handlebars a couple times and I I don't do that.
- 21:50SPEAKER_00: Have you had a big spill yet?
- 21:51SPEAKER_00: Uh not yet.
- 21:52SPEAKER_00: Not yet.
- 21:53SPEAKER_00: We only we only go in the the greens and the blues.
- 21:55SPEAKER_00: I don't think skills would be too happy if we did anything else.
- 21:59SPEAKER_00: Are you into Like skiing, anything like that snowboarding uh since you've been in Canwork?
- 22:04SPEAKER_00: Um, I mean, I love to ski.
- 22:05SPEAKER_00: It's tough kind of getting out, um, just with our our schedule being so busy.
- 22:10SPEAKER_00: But I I do enjoy skiing, yeah.
- 22:11SPEAKER_00: All right, a couple more questions for your heels.
- 22:14SPEAKER_00: Uh looking ahead, what's something, whether it's a team base or maybe individual, that you wanted to be able to do more consistently going into the season?
- 22:24SPEAKER_00: Obviously, you're kind of on a little bit of a slide right now.
- 22:26SPEAKER_00: Yeah, a couple of tough games against cameras.
- 22:29SPEAKER_00: But what's one thing, either team-wise or individual-wise, that you wanted to start doing more consistently or you would like to see done more consistently?
- 22:38SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I think I think like just the way we defend um could help a lot.
- 22:44SPEAKER_00: Um our coach, we've been getting pretty harped on our our gap.
- 22:48SPEAKER_00: So our gap control, I think we can all be more consistently just a bit better at.
- 22:54SPEAKER_00: So I'd say probably that.
- 22:55SPEAKER_00: It would just allow like you know, transition talks quicker, not be hemmed in our zone.
- 23:00SPEAKER_00: So just like being up in a plane, having a good gap would probably be something to feel be more consistent on.
- 23:07SPEAKER_00: Now it's time for the segment of the interview where we ask Eagles fans uh a question, a younger Eagles fan question.
- 23:14SPEAKER_00: So this is this week's Ask Eagle.
- 23:16SPEAKER_00: It comes from Ethan, age nine.
- 23:19SPEAKER_00: What should a young defenseman practice that they want to be harder to play against?
- 23:24SPEAKER_00: Yeah, again, like uh thanks for the question, Ethan.
- 23:27SPEAKER_00: I would say like your gap control and you know your positioning on the ice, like just work on you know getting up in the play and then kind of surfing it out until you have a good gap.
- 23:38SPEAKER_00: And so that allows that forward not to, you know, burn you wide or you know, get the puck ins.
- 23:43SPEAKER_00: So just being up in the play, like I think you can work on one-on-ones or something like that.
- 23:47SPEAKER_00: Um, but then I guess I can give you something else too.
- 23:50SPEAKER_00: Like it's just like always be head on a swivel, like know where everyone is, like always be shoulder checking.
- 23:56SPEAKER_00: Um so I would say just that, yeah.
- 23:59SPEAKER_00: Was that something when you were age nine that you kind of looked uh worked on, but or was it something you learned later on?
- 24:06SPEAKER_00: I think I learned that later on.
- 24:09SPEAKER_00: Um, I think if you can get comfortable with like being up and being in that forward space and shoulder checking like at an earlier age, it's just gonna set you up for success in the on the long run.
- 24:20SPEAKER_00: Alrighty, now it's time to get to know healer a little bit more than we already have, so I'm gonna give you a sharp clock.
- 24:27SPEAKER_00: I'm just gonna ask you a question, rapid fire.
- 24:30SPEAKER_00: Give me the first thing that pops into your head.
- 24:32SPEAKER_00: Something really easy.
- 24:33SPEAKER_00: What's your nickname?
- 24:34SPEAKER_00: Heels.
- 24:36SPEAKER_00: Go to food or beef karaoke from Edo.
- 24:40SPEAKER_00: I love that.
- 24:41SPEAKER_00: Favorite player growing up.
- 24:42SPEAKER_00: Uh, it was Morgan Riley.
- 24:43SPEAKER_00: I was at least one song you're putting on before a game.
- 24:47SPEAKER_00: Ooh, oh god.
- 24:49SPEAKER_00: Um anything like Calvin Harris.
- 24:52SPEAKER_00: I love Calvin Harris.
- 24:53SPEAKER_00: Favorite movie or TV show?
- 24:55SPEAKER_00: Uh Breaking Bad's pretty good.
- 24:58SPEAKER_00: Uh Hidden Talent Outside of T.
- 25:02SPEAKER_00: I'm pretty good at soccer.
- 25:04SPEAKER_00: I don't know.
- 25:04SPEAKER_00: That's not really a hidden one.
- 25:06SPEAKER_00: Champion at Zuri Ball.
- 25:08SPEAKER_00: Uh I'm not great at sewer, like I just like kick the ball around like right now.
- 25:12SPEAKER_00: I like I like playing so uh favorite way to spend a day off.
- 25:16SPEAKER_00: Uh honestly, like recently, like mountain biking with abilities has been super fun.
- 25:20SPEAKER_00: Which teammate makes you laugh the most?
- 25:22SPEAKER_00: Ooh.
- 25:23SPEAKER_00: Knock on.
- 25:27SPEAKER_00: Chucky uh or Mills Mills crash a few times.
- 25:30SPEAKER_00: Uh dream job if you weren't playing hockey.
- 25:33SPEAKER_00: Uh I'd be an athletic therapist, like helping athletes.
- 25:37SPEAKER_00: Uh learning after Rosie there.
- 25:38SPEAKER_00: Oh yeah, oh yeah.
- 25:39SPEAKER_00: And last one here, three words your friends would use to describe uh kind, funny, and resilient.
- 25:48SPEAKER_00: I'm gonna I'm gonna have to put stud on the backhand as well.
- 25:51SPEAKER_00: Peels, thanks for sitting down.
- 25:53SPEAKER_00: Uh super blessed and to watch a great defenseman like you and Acricho.
- 25:57SPEAKER_00: I'm not gonna lie, some of the stuff you do on the ice has helped me in beer leaks.
- 26:01SPEAKER_00: So I really do appreciate.
- 26:04SPEAKER_00: Okay, yeah, I appreciate it.
- 26:05SPEAKER_00: Thanks for your thanks for your time.

- 28:06SPEAKER_00: And before we end today's show, once again, I forgot this last week.
- 28:10SPEAKER_00: I apologize, but let's go to the Eagles star of the week.
- 28:14SPEAKER_00: And of course, I gotta go with Ryder Dembo, who delivered a three-point performance against Amrose on Friday, scoring twice and adding his death.
- 28:23SPEAKER_00: He was a dynamic force out there as long ago with his linemates, Miller Kamaninsky and Bryson Insinger.
- 28:31SPEAKER_00: Opened the scoring at 9.14 as you heard on the highlight package.
- 28:36SPEAKER_00: And he finished the weekend with three goals, 11 assists for 14 points in just 12 games.
- 28:42SPEAKER_00: Good for second in team leading scoring only behind Aidan Todchak, the captain.
- 28:48SPEAKER_00: And it will be another big weekend for Ryder Dembo and this entire Eagles team as they look to correct the schneids against the very top Devin Extreme, who beat the Eagles already once this season in Devon by a score of 6-5.
- 29:04SPEAKER_00: I'll have to call with Russ Holya on Flow Hockey 5 o'clock fucking drop.
