Nope. So, I have a story to tell you

why I came to. There it is.

Tell you why I came to that and it's just a, it just came to me

about the subject that we will briefly talk about tonight and

sister, Renee, who is just gods Just as Mercy, she's leading

took a missions trip to South Africa and we were in this room

and I think we were in Cape Town because he went there too.

To come alongside a conference today.

We're having. So what we did is we took care

of the children while the why the couple's went to the

conference. And so we had devotion before we

started to serve, and we were in prayer in this room.

I can see a gymnasium. Maybe you're some type of little

small small gym. We were in a circle and I was

sitting next to To Rene. And all of a sudden she fell to

her knees. And I was like a kind of looked

at her, you know, I was like, okay.

You know, and she just stayed on our knees man, like, worshiping.

And so after we were finished, I was like, man, Renee you like,

you just went to your knees and she said, I thought I heard

someone say Get on your knees. That was the spirit of the

Living. God speaking, to that sister man

and that just touched my heart. I was jealous man.

I was like you heard that. You know, and I never forgot

that in a couple of weeks ago and I asked us as can I share

that? And she says, go right ahead,

sister is she's awesome man and our worship team and we want to

And we're going to be speaking about blind Bartimaeus, one of

my heroes, and I guess he's Let me caution sometimes I get a

little choked up. You know, I'm tell you why.

Because I'm here by God's grace. And I take that seriously and

just to speak at this Podium. I answers, I'm humbled, man.

I'm humbled to tell my story and I always show I come from, you

know, I come from the city of Chicago and I grew up in the

projects and and I was like a statistic that said that I

wouldn't make it. You know, and you know, I wasn't

a doctor or a lawyer, but they didn't think that I'd get this

far. And so when I stand before you a

grateful man, you know, because by right, I should not be here

but by his grace, amen. It's okay to say a man with me,

man. I'm good with that, man.

I got that background. This, we just need to keep

everything decently and in order.

Amen. But can you pray with me,

please? Well, we ask that you would use

this word to touch lives. All of our lives and I love.

I love that gift. 10 Lord, that we pray for our communities.

We pray for families, have the father dead of heard of tragedy.

Sickness. Those are the hospital lives.

Lord, Lord, let us not forget those, those have me father, who

know of you, but they do not have a personal relationship

We ask that you would cover us. From the top of our heads, to

we may hear your word tonight. Lord, I just believe in my heart

that we have instructions. And they're not all the same.

And so we ask heavenly father that you would speak to us and

they would trust you and Obey in Jesus name, amen.

So I told you about Renee. And the word just came to my

heart to talk to you about blind Bartimaeus.

And I'll read it and then I'll come back and we'll just cover a

few points that the Lord has spoken to me about.

I'm reading from The New American Standard, don't worry

about the words, it's going to be the word of God when we end,

then they came to Jericho and as he was leaving Jericho with his
6:28
disciples and a large crowd of blind, beggar named Bartimaeus,

the son of Timaeus was sitting by the road.

Imagine that And when he heard that it was Jesus, the Nazarene,

he began to cry out and say Jesus, Son of David have mercy

on me. Many were sternly telling him to

be quiet but he kept crying out all the more for his Lord son of

David have mercy on me and Jesus stopped and said call him here.

And so they called the blind, man saying to him.

Take courage, stand up. He is calling for you.

Throwing aside, his cloak. He jumped up and came to Jesus.

Remember that he jumped up and came to Jesus, and answering

him, Jesus said, What do you want me to do for you?

And the blind man said to him rabboni.

In other words, master I want to regain my sight. and Jesus said

to him, go your faith has made you well The word says

immediately, he regained his sight and begin following him on

the road, amen. History tells us that at one

time, Jericho was one of the busiest Place, places in the

world. People conducting business,

Travelers military soldiers. Constantly passing through.

And unfortunately, in the days of Jesus blindness was often

seen as a curse and begging was the way to support oneself.

Financially speaking blind Bartimaeus is positioned along.

The well, the the world traveled road that leads in and out of

Jericho. That's the setting.

We have a brother that saw basically down and out, and I

believe that's why the lord gave me this because I thought about

who's this living in a time and not all of us, but we live in a

time. When we just feel down and out

spiritually, speaking, will little worried.

Look tired, you see things? Just don't seem the same right

And I would imagine that was the life of a blind man.

That had no hope that had to beg.

And I mean much, like today when we, well, my main street is

Colorado and Koufax and I passed do that a lot.

And I see people begging was sleeping on the street.

All the time. Down and out.

Much like this man. Lord, I say help us today.

busy road. All day would give you the time

to listen to conversations in here of the latest news that

happen from people who pass by Bartimaeus, that is to say that.

If, if my, if my job is to sit there and beg all day, then the

people who would pass by me, will probably be engaged in a

conversation. And and so me now I'm in my

imaginary mind, I'm wondering I'm wondering.

I'm one that looks at the Bible in that time but I'm saying,

Lord, how does this affect us today?

Do we have a word of encouragement for someone that

Are we seeking the Lord for one? Amen.

This is not a downer. But it's a message from the

Lord. You know, we just need to start

paying a little bit more attention to those around us now

as a UPS driver, for 30 years, man.

And safe driver for 30 years, man.

And there's the one man. I looked out for y'all.

You guys are the ones that like I had to look out for not me.

But one thing that we had to do every day is that we have to go

through the five seen habits, and one was to be aware of your

surroundings. Lord help us to be aware.

Of our surroundings. You know, I wondered in my

imaginary mind like what did Bartimaeus here and I just want

Did he hear about the leper? Who was healed?

Let me read that to you mark one. versus 40 to 45 in the word

says, and a leper came to Jesus Begging him and falling on his

knees before him. And saying, if you are willing,

you can make me clean, move with compassion.

Jesus stretched out his hand, and touched him.

And said to him, I am willing be cleansed immediately, the

leprosy left him and he was cleansed and he sternly warned

him. Jesus speaking and immediately

sent him away and he said to him, see that you say nothing to

anyone but go show yourself yourself to the priest and offer

for your cleansing, what Moses commanded and the testimony to

them and check this. But he went out and began to

Proclaim it freely and to spread the news around to such an

extent that Jesus could no longer publicly.

Enter a city, but stayed out and unpopulated areas and they were

coming to him from everywhere. The Bartimaeus hear that.

From someone that was passing by the ad hope to his heart.

Or perhaps did he hear about the healing of the sick woman?

Mark 5 verses 25 and I'll read to you.

A woman who had a hemorrhage for twelve years, guys, and had

endured much at the hands of many Physicians, and had spent

all that she had and was not helped at all.

But rather had grown worse after hearing about Jesus.

There's that word again. Did you hear that?

She heard something after hearing about Jesus.

She came up in the crowd behind him and touched his cloak for

she thought. Thought, you know, heart if I

just touch His Garment, I will get, we'll hope is beginning in

our heart immediately, the flow of her blood was dried up and

she felt in her body that she was healed of her afflictions,

immediately, Jesus perceiving and himself.

That the power for seeding from him, had gone forth turned

around in the crowd and said, who touched my garments?

So we see the Lord at work. and his disciples said to him, you

see the crowd pressing in on you and you say who touched me and

he looked around to see the woman who had done this But the

woman fearing and trembling aware of what had happened to

her came. And what did she do?

She fell down before him and told him the whole truth.

She confessed and worshipped him.

And he said to her daughter, your faith has made you.

Well Go in peace and be healed of your affliction.

The Bartimaeus happened to hear a part of that story.

And gods. These are their stories.

That we have in our heart that we should be sharing with those

around us to lend hope. One more.

Mark 6. 53 to 56. When they had crossed over, they

came to a Land Act Naturally, and moored to the shore.

And when they got out the boat immediately, the people

recognized him and ran about the whole country.

Let me say that again. They ran about the whole country

and begin to carry here and there, on their palates, those

who were sick to the place, they heard he was. wherever he

entered Villages or cities or or Countryside, they were laying

the sick in the marketplaces and employing him asking him that

they might just touch The Fringe of his cloak and as many as

touched would be in cured, Perhaps buying body mass at,

heard a story such as that. And I see the sea of Hope.

Beginning in his heart, I ask you tonight, guys.

Is there a hope and a hard to share God's word with those that

need to hear a word of encouragement?

Not from our personal opinions, but from the word of God, Let's

think about that. And so Bartimaeus is sitting and

wondering if he had heard enough.

If what he had heard about Jesus could be true.

And we feel that way. I, I think about when I was

younger and I went to church, I always was in the church, but I

didn't believe I was in. I was in the church.

I was out. I was in, at back in the day.

You give you went to church at 11, you got out of that one.

And after one, I went back to my old life That's just the way it

was. I heard God were God's word, but

it didn't touch my heart, and I'm sure that there was just a

little wagering going on and bought a man has his heart as

well. I'm hearing about this Jesus,

but is it true? Or are these guys just talking?

Faith cometh by hearing and hearing the word of the Lord.

We can feel that way guys. I want to read something Mark 9

And they run into something that looks like a problem.

A dad has brought his son that has been just taken over by the

Verse 17 says, in one of the crowd, answered him teacher are

brought you my son possessed with a spirit, which makes him

mute symptoms and whenever he seizes him hits slams and into

the ground and he Foams at the mouth and grinds his teeth and

stiffens out and I told your disciples to cast it out, but

they could not do it. Is this couldn't do it.

And he answered him is set or unbelieving generation.

How long shall I be with you? How long should I put up with?

You bring him to me, a lot of times guys, we need to bring

everything to the Lord. I don't know about you.

remind our staff about who my mom was because she didn't mess

around. And I just remember a time when,

you know, growing up in Chicago, like you kind of you kind of

moved around in groups and I remember my buddies, we all had

the same kind of coat. We had the same kind of hat.

We didn't call ourselves a gang but we look like And I remember

when they would come and like Miss Ramsey can they even come

out? You know, I'm like 15 16, you

know growing on 21. You guys know I'm coming from

right? You got no business out in the

streets, right? Going on 21, 15, 16 and in.

So yeah, okay, he can go out, you know, just make sure that

And then privately the disciples wanted to know why they could

anything but prayer. Prayer is so important in our

lives guys. I just cannot tell you how

important it is for us today and I'm not just talking to this

church, I'm talking to our country.

I'm talking to our communities, north west east, south wherever

churches are strategically put by the Lord Prayer.

Is the language that God Hears A man.

Back to Bartimaeus. I wanted to show you.

I wanted to give you Luke's version of Jesus coming and I'll

read it to you Luke 1835. He says as Jesus was approaching

Jericho, a blind. Man was sitting by the road

begging. Verse 26 is now here in a crowd

going by he began to inquire what this was is happening and

they told him Jesus of Nazareth was passing by And that's when

the action starts. He began to cry out to the Lord.

Mark says, when he heard that it was Jesus, the Nazarene.

He began to cry and say Jesus, Son of David have mercy on me.

That was his prayer. And sometimes guys, we don't

have to give dialogues in our prayer.

Sometimes it's just help me, Lord.

Or he asked persistently. And he and the urge for Jesus to

I remember when again, going back to my young days, not that

Opposition to my mom's prayers. Don't do that to me, Mom.

felt. Then the spirit of the Living

God that was compelling my mother to pray over us before we

went out into the streets of Chicago.

I thank God for wisdom and knowledge and understanding.

your husband, your neighbors. And, you know, we're not saying

disciples that were willing to cuss.

Remember in the beginning, they would have walked right past it.

But when he stopped there was a time of healing to them as well.

Because now their words changed. Hey man, everything's cool.
