Latest / Twin Cities Territory / A's deal big blow to Twins, and the need for Walker Jenkins is clear
Transcript
- 0:01Speaker 1: A brutal loss for the twins on Wednesday as they
- 0:03Speaker 1: drop the series in Sacramento to the lowly athletics. Maybe
- 0:07Speaker 1: I shouldn't call them so lowly. They just took two
- 0:09Speaker 1: out of three from the twins, but after a hot start, uh,
- 0:13Speaker 1: three solo home runs to build a three, nothing lead
- 0:16Speaker 1: the A's I I'm, I'm fighting the urge guys every
- 0:19Speaker 1: time to say Oakland, but the A's I'll just call them.
- 0:21Speaker 2: I heard them referred to as unhoused the other day,
- 0:24Speaker 2: which I'm house.
- 0:25Speaker 3: Yes.
- 0:26Speaker 4: Yes.
- 0:26Speaker 1: They are the unhoused days. Uh, A's strike for four
- 0:29Speaker 1: runs in the sixth off Andrew Morris and take the
- 0:33Speaker 1: series with a 7-4 victory. That now drops the Twins
- 0:37Speaker 1: to 64-70 overall, and they are fading in the wildcard
- 0:42Speaker 1: standings down to four games back of the Guardians, who
- 0:46Speaker 1: got really fat this week off of the Rockies and
- 0:49Speaker 1: Angels and are now 68-66 in that third wildcard spot
- 0:54Speaker 1: ahead of the Twins there and in the central, the Twins'
- 0:57Speaker 1: six and a half back of the white socks who
- 0:59Speaker 1: are on deck this week in a target field. Also today,
- 1:02Speaker 1: we're gonna talk about Byron Buxton's latest, uh, injury update,
- 1:06Speaker 1: whether it finally, maybe really actually now is time for
- 1:09Speaker 1: Walker Jenkins. We're going to talk about your ideas to
- 1:11Speaker 1: make the team better. And there were some good ones
- 1:13Speaker 1: in there. And also, uh, tee up this weekend at
- 1:16Speaker 1: target field against the white socks. It's twin cities, territory
- 1:19Speaker 1: or twins podcast here on the foul territory network. And guys, uh,
- 1:24Speaker 1: obviously there is still a lot of season left for
- 1:27Speaker 1: games out is not necessarily over, but spiritually Tyler, that
- 1:32Speaker 1: game felt like it might be the knockout blow of
- 1:33Speaker 1: the season.
- 1:35Speaker 2: Yeah, that one hurts.
- 1:36Speaker 3: Um, you know, especially you jump out early, get a
- 1:39Speaker 3: lead like that. Uh, you, you seem to have the
- 1:42Speaker 3: ball rolling early, you know, getting that cushion started and
- 1:45Speaker 3: then it just kind of fell apart from there. And that's,
- 1:48Speaker 3: it's a tough one. Um, There's a lot of guys
- 1:51Speaker 3: on that off day today. They got in late last night.
- 1:53Speaker 3: It was probably as the sun was coming up, getting
- 1:56Speaker 3: to your apartments.
- 1:58Speaker 2: There's going to be some.
- 1:58Speaker 3: Guys licking some wounds, looking at video, trying to figure
- 2:02Speaker 3: out what happened. And we kind of joked about going
- 2:05Speaker 3: into that series, like you can't take anybody for granted
- 2:08Speaker 3: in the big leagues. They're still big leaguers. They're still
- 2:11Speaker 3: there for a reason. They were all first-round picks, X, Y,
- 2:13Speaker 3: and Z, and that's a tough one. You needed all
- 2:16Speaker 3: three of those and at least two, and now– um, you're,
- 2:21Speaker 3: you're coming back home with basically a need to win.
- 2:24Speaker 3: You know, you need to go on a hot streak
- 2:25Speaker 3: and win like six in a row, like, which they
- 2:27Speaker 3: haven't really done all year.
- 2:28Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 2:29Speaker 3: I think their longest stretch was maybe nine.
- 2:31Speaker 2: If I remember right.
- 2:32Speaker 3: But it's, you got to come home and hit the
- 2:35Speaker 3: ground running because there's no more time. Um, you know,
- 2:38Speaker 3: and it's guys are injured, you know, big piece of
- 2:41Speaker 3: the rotation, Byron going down, like things aren't going well.
- 2:43Speaker 2: Um, it's hard to find some positives right now.
- 2:46Speaker 3: And, So as a team, I'm sure they're, you know,
- 2:49Speaker 3: I doubt they did it last night, but, you know,
- 2:51Speaker 3: maybe tomorrow before the game, something like that, like have
- 2:53Speaker 3: a little talk amongst the guys.
- 2:55Speaker 2: You know, maybe Shelty goes in there.
- 2:57Speaker 3: I know he doesn't like doing that, but this is
- 2:59Speaker 3: the time to be like, hey, boys, you know, he
- 3:02Speaker 3: mentioned it's a sprint, and it is fully that now,
- 3:04Speaker 3: and it's just find a way. Tomorrow doesn't matter. Today,
- 3:08Speaker 3: you know, what happened yesterday you can't fix. We got
- 3:10Speaker 3: to play today and win.
- 3:13Speaker 1: Dan, the Twins got what they could have asked for,
- 3:15Speaker 1: I guess, out of Connor Prelip. Last night, you might
- 3:18Speaker 1: even call it a yeoman's effort from Connor.
- 3:25Speaker 4: Sorry.
- 3:25Speaker 1: Dan's not in the mood for jokes today.
- 3:27Speaker 2: All right.
- 3:28Speaker 1: Then Andrew Morris came in in the sixth. Things fell apart.
- 3:32Speaker 1: There were some tough breaks there. A bloop single to
- 3:34Speaker 1: start it off against him. That fly ball to center
- 3:37Speaker 1: that scored the two go-ahead runs. A healthy Byron Buxton
- 3:41Speaker 1: probably tracks that down. It's no knock on Luke Kieschel. Obviously,
- 3:44Speaker 1: he's playing wherever the Twins need him to play, but
- 3:47Speaker 1: a tough break and especially for a team that spent
- 3:49Speaker 1: its bull, uh, trade deadline assets trying to build up
- 3:52Speaker 1: its bullpen to have that loss come down to that
- 3:54Speaker 1: was just a rough night.
- 3:57Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 3:58Speaker 4: Andrew Morris was definitely, I mean, the stuff is still there,
- 4:01Speaker 4: but the location was center cut with his fastballs. And,
- 4:06Speaker 4: and even though, you know, you're right, there were some
- 4:08Speaker 4: bloops and some stuff there was oppo hit by McNeil. Um,
- 4:12Speaker 4: even though that happened, you know, his fastball was in
- 4:15Speaker 4: the middle and the A's were geared up for it. And,
- 4:19Speaker 4: you know, with the, with the Williams triple, Luke Keisha
- 4:23Speaker 4: went back and was there. He said it carried a
- 4:27Speaker 4: little further on him than he thought it was, but
- 4:30Speaker 4: he was there and he should have caught it. And
- 4:32Speaker 4: that's what he, he emphasized twice. He had that later
- 4:36Speaker 4: play too, where line drive double over his head. And he,
- 4:41Speaker 4: you know, was out of position. And so basically like,
- 4:46Speaker 4: you know, it was definitely a, uh, it was a
- 4:49Speaker 4: tough loss. I mean, they, they had that game early on.
- 4:53Speaker 4: It looked great. You know, you get the Brooks Lee
- 4:55Speaker 4: first inning home run. Uh, but then you come back
- 4:57Speaker 4: on top of that and Trevor Larnik, who's needed to
- 5:00Speaker 4: get going, hits a solo homer. And, you know, he
- 5:04Speaker 4: had a couple other good swings, but he hit it
- 5:05Speaker 4: to center, flew out deep. Like, um, I, I thought
- 5:09Speaker 4: Larnik looked good to play, but, uh, You know, Culpepper
- 5:13Speaker 4: hits just a massive shot. Culpepper had a nice defensive
- 5:16Speaker 4: play in the seventh inning, too. And yet they just
- 5:21Speaker 4: couldn't get any more. They had the bases loaded and
- 5:23Speaker 4: won out. And Royce Lewis hit a pretty deep fly ball,
- 5:26Speaker 4: but it sacrificed fly. They didn't add on. They didn't capitalize.
- 5:31Speaker 4: They didn't do what they needed to do to put
- 5:33Speaker 4: that game away. And it left them susceptible to the beginning,
- 5:37Speaker 4: which has happened to them quite frequently. That's the second
- 5:39Speaker 4: time on this road trip alone. where the beginning really
- 5:42Speaker 4: did them in. There was one in San Diego, too. But, yeah, Morris,
- 5:46Speaker 4: you know, this is something that it's not shocking that
- 5:49Speaker 4: there's some regression. I mean, he has not done this
- 5:52Speaker 4: like this at this level of frequency. He has pitched
- 5:55Speaker 4: mornings in a season, yes, 100%. He has done that.
- 5:58Speaker 4: But he has not gotten his body ready to throw
- 6:01Speaker 4: 99 to 100 miles per hour every other day forever. Like,
- 6:06Speaker 4: this is the first time he's ever done that. Unbelievable.
- 6:08Speaker 4: I've seen this a zillion times. It happened to Griffin
- 6:10Speaker 4: Jackson in 2022 where he just started to fade. And
- 6:13Speaker 4: it really isn't the stuff. It's the location. It's the
- 6:17Speaker 4: ability to dial it in at that point because you
- 6:20Speaker 4: are putting all your effort into getting that velo out.
- 6:24Speaker 4: And you are, like, sometimes the pinpoint command goes away.
- 6:28Speaker 4: And that was, you know, there were a lot of
- 6:31Speaker 4: pitches in the middle there. But Kieschel said it. I
- 6:34Speaker 4: should have caught it. I should have caught it. That
- 6:36Speaker 4: potentially changes the game right there because you get to
- 6:38Speaker 4: the later parts of your bullpen if you get through that.
- 6:41Speaker 4: But we even saw Cody Funderburg give up a home
- 6:43Speaker 4: run too. Derek Shelton was pretty disappointed afterwards and very short.
- 6:52Speaker 4: It wasn't the shortest press conference. There were a couple
- 6:54Speaker 4: longer answers, but you can tell he knows it's go
- 6:57Speaker 4: time because this team is 6 under 500 and really
- 7:01Speaker 4: struggling for a lifeline right now.
- 7:04Speaker 1: I was thinking about the season in total, and bear
- 7:07Speaker 1: with me because I brought visual aids. I think back
- 7:12Speaker 1: to before the trade deadline, how we were talking about
- 7:14Speaker 1: this team, and they were in the mix, still around 500,
- 7:18Speaker 1: but in that wildcard mix. And through the All-Star game,
- 7:22Speaker 1: July 12th, they had played 97 games. They were sixth
- 7:25Speaker 1: in baseball in runs scored with 4.85 runs per game.
- 7:28Speaker 1: That's sixth in total runs, not the runs per game.
- 7:31Speaker 1: It's just a separate note. Starting pitching ERA was 13th
- 7:34Speaker 1: in the league, bullpen ERA 29th in the league. It
- 7:37Speaker 1: was pretty obvious what this team needed. They needed help
- 7:39Speaker 1: in the bullpen. That offense and that starting pitching can
- 7:43Speaker 1: make you competitive right there. And then even at the
- 7:45Speaker 1: trade deadline, there was a little bit of dip in
- 7:48Speaker 1: the run scored and in the starting pitching, but not
- 7:51Speaker 1: to the point of disaster at all. It's still top
- 7:53Speaker 1: 10 offense, or top 10 run scoring offense. The starting
- 7:58Speaker 1: pitcher ERA had dropped two-tenths of a point. Bullpen, a
- 8:02Speaker 1: little bit better, but not much. And then they make
- 8:04Speaker 1: all their trade deadline moves, and it's all for bullpen
- 8:07Speaker 1: and Dean Kramer to the back end of the rotation.
- 8:09Speaker 1: And this is the killer. Since then, in 21 games,
- 8:12Speaker 1: all of that stuff has gotten worse than it was
- 8:15Speaker 1: before the trade deadline. Now, obviously, it's a smaller sample size.
- 8:18Speaker 1: It's also a brutal sample size against a lot of
- 8:21Speaker 1: really great teams from the National League.
- 8:25Speaker 4: Yeah, playing those 12 teams is a buzzsaw. Playing the Brewers, Padres...
- 8:31Speaker 4: Phillies and Braves, that was a brutal August schedule for them.
- 8:36Speaker 1: For sure. But the run's tied for 22nd since the
- 8:40Speaker 1: trade deadline, almost a run a game less than they
- 8:42Speaker 1: were scoring before the All-Star game. The starting pitching ERA
- 8:45Speaker 1: has dropped, obviously no fault of Dean Kramer's in that regard,
- 8:48Speaker 1: but we've seen injuries and other issues. And then the
- 8:51Speaker 1: real killer is the bullpen ERA is basically the same
- 8:54Speaker 1: as it was before the trade deadline. It hasn't really improved.
- 8:58Speaker 1: They haven't been getting... to the late innings with the
- 9:01Speaker 1: lead very often. I think that was the 10th time
- 9:03Speaker 1: since the deadline they, they had the lead and they've
- 9:06Speaker 1: won seven of those games. Obviously last night did not, but, um,
- 9:10Speaker 1: and it's just when, when all of the moves were
- 9:12Speaker 1: designed to fix that one problem and now all of
- 9:14Speaker 1: these other problems have emerged, Tyler, it's just, it's a
- 9:16Speaker 1: double whammy.
- 9:18Speaker 3: Yeah. And it's one, unfortunately, you know, all season it's been,
- 9:22Speaker 3: you know, the twins are going to be bad, bad, bad, bad, bad.
- 9:26Speaker 2: And they played really well. All things considered, for a
- 9:30Speaker 2: long time.
- 9:31Speaker 3: And we kind of talked about it doesn't take much
- 9:35Speaker 3: to kind of knock these off kilter. You know, the
- 9:37Speaker 3: playing clean baseball, the things like that were things early
- 9:40Speaker 3: on that mattered, you know, to win those little games,
- 9:43Speaker 3: scoring four runs, three runs. And now it's really blown
- 9:47Speaker 3: up because you're missing Joe Ryan. You know, Prelip has
- 9:51Speaker 3: had his woes here and there. You know, he's pitching
- 9:54Speaker 3: the most he's ever thrown in a season. You're relying
- 9:56Speaker 3: on these guys who are still kind of learning. Taj
- 9:59Speaker 3: has settled in, thank goodness, to be a bit of
- 10:01Speaker 3: an anchor. But it's a lot of things that we
- 10:04Speaker 3: said could potentially happen, you know, and then it happened. And,
- 10:09Speaker 3: you know, it's the end of the year. You've got
- 10:10Speaker 3: young guys in the bullpen, especially, you know, like Morris,
- 10:13Speaker 3: he's throwing leverage for the first time in his life
- 10:15Speaker 3: in the most pressure situations you can be in. And
- 10:18Speaker 3: You know, it's just he's regressed a bit. And so
- 10:20Speaker 3: guys like him, you know, Fundy was on a roll
- 10:23Speaker 3: for a while. He's gave up, you know, that was
- 10:25Speaker 3: a slider up with two strikes. He got taken oppo. Like,
- 10:29Speaker 3: that's when you kind of tip your cap. You know,
- 10:30Speaker 3: was it a great pitch?
- 10:31Speaker 2: No. But, you know, it's.
- 10:34Speaker 3: Just they're regressing back to the mean a little bit. Unfortunately,
- 10:38Speaker 3: it's at a really bad time after you've made all
- 10:41Speaker 3: your moves. You've gotten these bullpen arms that you brought
- 10:44Speaker 3: in to kind of bolster and finish out these close games.
- 10:48Speaker 3: And in my mind, it kind of turns to, and
- 10:50Speaker 3: I'm sure we'll see it, you're going to start seeing
- 10:53Speaker 3: those guys earlier and probably not necessarily in winning games.
- 10:57Speaker 2: It's going to be, hey, you boys.
- 11:00Speaker 3: Do whatever you need, take whatever Advil or whatever it is,
- 11:04Speaker 3: get your mix right, because you're about to throw 15
- 11:06Speaker 3: times in the next 30 days.
- 11:08Speaker 2: And that's kind of what it is.
- 11:10Speaker 3: Position guys, whether Jeffers has got a catch every day
- 11:14Speaker 3: or whatever they need to do, like Things are going
- 11:16Speaker 3: to happen.
- 11:17Speaker 2: It's time to be big boys.
- 11:18Speaker 3: As we joke a lot, it's a man's league, and
- 11:22Speaker 3: it's not for nice guys. And this is a time
- 11:24Speaker 3: when that becomes more true than ever. 28 games to go.
- 11:28Speaker 3: The Twins will have to find some magic if they can.
- 11:33Speaker 3: We will talk about that. We'll talk about Byron Buxton's
- 11:35Speaker 3: injury and Walker Jenkins in just a bit. If you
- 11:38Speaker 3: like what you hear, please toss us a like or subscribe,
- 11:40Speaker 3: however you watch or listen. If you're on YouTube right now,

- 11:45Speaker 3: super easy for you.
- 11:47Speaker 1: We'll be right back.
- 11:48Speaker 5: It's time to remind everyone why baseball is glorious, especially
- 11:52Speaker 5: nowadays where you could think your team is out of it,
- 11:55Speaker 5: but they might be back in it again. Let me
- 11:57Speaker 5: introduce you to the American League wildcard, KP, and let's
- 12:01Speaker 5: tell everyone why they might need to head back to SeatGeek,
- 12:04Speaker 5: grab some more tickets for what is a playoff race
- 12:07Speaker 5: before the playoffs actually begin.
- 12:10Speaker 6: Speaking about being out of it, I'm an American League
- 12:13Speaker 6: East guy, and I'm talking to you Toronto fans. I'm
- 12:15Speaker 6: talking to you Baltimore fans. A couple weeks ago, probably
- 12:19Speaker 6: not a reason to come out to the games. Look
- 12:20Speaker 6: at the standings right now. Both of you teams are
- 12:23Speaker 6: right back in this wildcard race.
- 12:25Speaker 4: Rangers fans, we can go on and on.
- 12:27Speaker 5: Mariners fans, you might be feeling a little queasy, but
- 12:30Speaker 5: you're still in this thing too. So all of you
- 12:33Speaker 5: should head to SeatGeek and get yourself 10% off your
- 12:37Speaker 5: next set of MLB tickets. 10% off MLB tickets with
- 12:40Speaker 5: the promo code TERRITORY10. Make sure you click the link

- 12:45Speaker 5: code automatically added to your account so that you can
- 12:47Speaker 5: use it later.
- 12:51Speaker 1: Byron Buxton left Tuesday's game with an injury. He was
- 12:55Speaker 1: around the clubhouse on Wednesday and Mr. Hayes caught up
- 12:59Speaker 1: to him. And from that headline on the athletic there,
- 13:02Speaker 1: which says, for those of you listening twins, all-star Byron
- 13:04Speaker 1: Buxton physically quote, not where I want to be unquote
- 13:07Speaker 1: after Tuesday's exit, uh, Dan, that sure doesn't sound good.
- 13:14Speaker 4: I don't know if it doesn't sound good. I like,
- 13:17Speaker 4: this is something he's dealt with for three and a
- 13:18Speaker 4: half months. Um, the way he described it was, I'm
- 13:23Speaker 4: going to read the quote. I know what soreness is.
- 13:25Speaker 4: It just felt a little different. It stopped me from
- 13:28Speaker 4: bending over to try and get the ball. Um, there's
- 13:32Speaker 4: been good days and there's bad days. It's a little
- 13:34Speaker 4: frustrating right now trying to play through it. We've been
- 13:36Speaker 4: doing everything we're supposed to be doing. So it's probably frustrating,
- 13:38Speaker 4: not only for me, but for everybody. Like, look, I,
- 13:42Speaker 4: Byron Buxton is definitely gonna need some time here, but
- 13:44Speaker 4: I don't know like that. It's that this is more
- 13:47Speaker 4: than what he's dealt with in the past. They didn't
- 13:49Speaker 4: do an MRI yesterday. Um, so like they didn't think
- 13:53Speaker 4: it was to the level where he needed to go
- 13:55Speaker 4: and do that. And he's done that multiple times this
- 13:57Speaker 4: year after having some hip related stuff. So, I think
- 14:02Speaker 4: they think this is another episode. He hopes it's a hiccup.
- 14:06Speaker 4: It certainly is more than some of the instances because, look,
- 14:11Speaker 4: when you ever see Byron Buxton run for a ball
- 14:14Speaker 4: and not be able to lean down and pick it up,
- 14:16Speaker 4: that stood out. And Derek Shelton mentioned it stood out.
- 14:20Speaker 4: But Byron was in the clubhouse, in a good mood.
- 14:25Speaker 4: They did their fantasy football draft pick selection challenge yesterday. And, uh,
- 14:35Speaker 4: we'll get into that in a second. Uh, but Byron,
- 14:37Speaker 4: do we have the team rosters? No, no, no, no, no, no.
- 14:42Speaker 2: Okay.
- 14:42Speaker 4: But their, their competition for the, their competition to get
- 14:45Speaker 4: the picking. Oh, I see. Oh yeah. The pick to
- 14:47Speaker 4: get the pick, uh, their competition's awesome. But, uh, he
- 14:51Speaker 4: ended up with Keith Beauregard as his, um, as his, uh, night,
- 14:55Speaker 4: so to speak, you know, you get to pick the
- 14:57Speaker 4: night that fights in your honor. Keith Bogard, hitting coach,
- 15:00Speaker 4: is his knight, and they were having some fun laughing
- 15:03Speaker 4: about it. And Byron talked to us and was open
- 15:07Speaker 4: to talking to us. So those aren't signs to me that, oh, man,
- 15:10Speaker 4: he's devastated, he's crushed, this is season ending. But clearly
- 15:14Speaker 4: it's going to take a little time, and this isn't
- 15:17Speaker 4: a time where they have time. I mean, there's 28 games,
- 15:20Speaker 4: and they start with 15 straight against the American League
- 15:22Speaker 4: Central on Friday. So the confluence of those two events,
- 15:25Speaker 4: like it definitely– you know, you probably need some, some help,
- 15:31Speaker 4: at least temporary help. And, you know, it's not going
- 15:35Speaker 4: to shock me at all. If we see Walker Jenkins
- 15:38Speaker 4: on Friday, in fact, I would think we'll see him,
- 15:41Speaker 4: but I don't know that for sure. It just seems
- 15:44Speaker 4: like that could, it just seems like that's a possibility and,
- 15:49Speaker 4: and the odds are better. Now, if you're on Cal she,
- 15:52Speaker 4: or if you're doing the prediction market thing, it feels like,
- 15:56Speaker 4: and send me a, you know, I'd like a percentage
- 15:59Speaker 4: of that just for the educated guests. Insider trading. Yeah, exactly.
- 16:06Speaker 4: Insider trading to a podcast of 500. But no, it
- 16:12Speaker 4: just feels like the time is probably now. Byron Buxton
- 16:15Speaker 4: has been fighting this for three and a half months.
- 16:17Speaker 4: He's gone on the aisle twice. And the idea that
- 16:20Speaker 4: he couldn't pick up the ball, that kind of gives
- 16:22Speaker 4: you an idea of that he is at least a
- 16:24Speaker 4: few days away and they just don't have the time
- 16:26Speaker 4: right now.
- 16:27Speaker 2: That's more than being sore.
- 16:30Speaker 4: Right. And, and I mean, Luke Kieschel has done like
- 16:35Speaker 4: worked his butt off to be out there, but Luke
- 16:37Speaker 4: Kieschel is not a center fielder. And they've asked a
- 16:40Speaker 4: lot of him to go from second base to right
- 16:42Speaker 4: field to center field and Walker Jenkins plays center field
- 16:46Speaker 4: and he's hitting the ball. So it just, it like,
- 16:49Speaker 4: it feels like it's going to happen. I don't know.
- 16:52Speaker 4: with certainty it's going to happen, but it sure feels
- 16:54Speaker 4: like it's going to happen.
- 16:55Speaker 1: Well, even the Saints feel ready for it. Here's them
- 16:59Speaker 1: last night after Walker Jenkins homered yet again. If you're listening,
- 17:04Speaker 1: I'm showing a tweet from them or a post, I
- 17:07Speaker 1: guess it is called now. Hello, Minnesota Twins. Walker Jenkins
- 17:10Speaker 1: is on line one, lefty on lefty, and he goes
- 17:12Speaker 1: deep the opposite way. That pitch was way outside. He
- 17:17Speaker 1: bent down and got it. Maybe it would be a
- 17:20Speaker 1: warning track fly out in target field. I don't know,
- 17:22Speaker 1: but impressive because of the way the camera is angled
- 17:28Speaker 1: always off to the right side the lefties throwing the
- 17:30Speaker 1: lefties just looks so nasty compared to righties throwing the
- 17:33Speaker 1: righties so it's always more impressive to my dumb brain
- 17:36Speaker 1: but Tyler on our show yesterday you were pretty passionate
- 17:40Speaker 1: that like you gotta call them up you gotta give
- 17:43Speaker 1: it a chance and see what happens and it seems
- 17:46Speaker 1: with Buxton not about to come back at 100% tomorrow
- 17:50Speaker 1: it's now or never Yeah.
- 17:52Speaker 3: And all respect to Keish, as Dan just said too,
- 17:56Speaker 3: they've asked a lot and he has answered the bell
- 17:59Speaker 3: over and over and over again. But at the end
- 18:01Speaker 3: of the day, and I'm not even going to disrespect
- 18:04Speaker 3: the corners saying they're easier, but playing center field in
- 18:07Speaker 3: the major leagues is not easy to do.
- 18:09Speaker 2: Not everybody can do it.
- 18:11Speaker 3: It's something that there's a reason those guys are the
- 18:13Speaker 3: best athletes on the field nine times out of ten.
- 18:17Speaker 3: It's just a whole different world out there. You have
- 18:20Speaker 3: a guy who has played outfield his whole career that
- 18:22Speaker 3: is ready to come up and do his thing. The
- 18:27Speaker 3: stars are aligning a little too easily right now for
- 18:31Speaker 3: me in my head.
- 18:32Speaker 2: Again, I'm not a GM, nor will I ever.
- 18:35Speaker 3: Be, but you've got a kid who's cranking homers, lefty-lefty.
- 18:39Speaker 3: He's hitting them pole side out of stadiums. He can
- 18:42Speaker 3: play any position in the outfield. He seems to be
- 18:46Speaker 3: made for the moment. I've seen his interviews, things like that.
- 18:50Speaker 2: He's what you want.
- 18:51Speaker 3: He's the reason you take a guy with a pick
- 18:53Speaker 3: like that. He does all the right things. He seems
- 18:56Speaker 3: to be saying the right things. It makes a lot
- 18:59Speaker 3: of sense, and they need it. They don't have anyone
- 19:02Speaker 3: else to plug in right now. Guys that have been
- 19:05Speaker 3: there all year kind of have struggled. This is your
- 19:08Speaker 3: last chance to make a push, and what difference does
- 19:10Speaker 3: it make in a month, unless you try it, you know, it's,
- 19:14Speaker 3: you got to do something.
- 19:15Speaker 2: Otherwise you might as well tell him now, Hey, we're not,
- 19:17Speaker 2: we're not going for it.
- 19:19Speaker 1: The logic of, of not calling him up. Um, we,
- 19:23Speaker 1: we talked about it. This also on last, last show,
- 19:26Speaker 1: maybe it's, maybe it's his health. Maybe it's his play.
- 19:29Speaker 1: They don't think he's ready, but also there's the very
- 19:31Speaker 1: real roster situation realities of the roster, where if he
- 19:34Speaker 1: gets called up to the 40 man, he would be
- 19:37Speaker 1: part of the lockout. If there is one next year,
- 19:39Speaker 1: can't play in the minors, can't keep developing. I think
- 19:42Speaker 1: after last night's loss, I had convinced myself, like, just
- 19:44Speaker 1: don't just don't do it.
- 19:45Speaker 2: It's too late.
- 19:46Speaker 1: And I think I saw, you know, I saw some
- 19:48Speaker 1: other chatter of that too. Like almost as if some
- 19:51Speaker 1: sentiment is turning to like, if you were going to
- 19:53Speaker 1: do it, why not two or three weeks ago when
- 19:55Speaker 1: maybe it could have helped make a difference in some
- 19:57Speaker 1: of these games. But, uh, Dan, I guess punk fans
- 20:00Speaker 1: like me are just going to have to live with it.
- 20:03Speaker 4: I mean, yeah. Like if that's the case, like if
- 20:05Speaker 4: they bring them up, yes. Um, Look, the lockout, I
- 20:08Speaker 4: get that. I do get not bringing him up in
- 20:11Speaker 4: case that. But they brought up Caelan Culpepper, so it's
- 20:14Speaker 4: clear that's not something that they're believing there. And they
- 20:17Speaker 4: brought up Caelan Culpepper when they had a clear need.
- 20:19Speaker 4: And with Byron dinged up, I think this is as
- 20:23Speaker 4: clear of a need as they're going to see. It's
- 20:27Speaker 4: unfortunate because it's four days until they can expand rosters
- 20:31Speaker 4: or five days until they expand rosters by the one
- 20:33Speaker 4: position player. So they're going to have to make a
- 20:35Speaker 4: tough decision right now And who does that impact? Because
- 20:40Speaker 4: the lefties that are in the outfield right now, Roden
- 20:44Speaker 4: and Larnik, Larnik has had a rough August ever since
- 20:48Speaker 4: he basically found out he was going to get traded
- 20:50Speaker 4: and then wasn't traded. But Roden's got, I think, their
- 20:54Speaker 4: second or third highest OPS in the month of August.
- 20:57Speaker 4: He's close to 900. He had a nice night again
- 21:01Speaker 4: last night just getting on. Unfortunately, he had a bid
- 21:04Speaker 4: for Was it a three-run homer, and he flew out
- 21:08Speaker 4: to the track, or it was either a three-run homer
- 21:10Speaker 4: or a grand slam hit?
- 21:11Speaker 2: Yeah. No, no.
- 21:13Speaker 1: Larnik had a three-run shot later in the game, and
- 21:17Speaker 1: did homer, obviously, early.
- 21:18Speaker 2: Yeah, both of them had good swings.
- 21:22Speaker 4: Right, exactly. Jackson just hasn't played, and I get that.
- 21:27Speaker 4: You want the depth, but Alex Jackson has not played
- 21:30Speaker 4: at all. It has allowed them to use Ryan Jeffers
- 21:33Speaker 4: as a DH on days he's not catching. But, you know,
- 21:39Speaker 4: it's definitely, it's a tricky spot, but I mean, the
- 21:42Speaker 4: need seems to be trumping it at this point with Byron,
- 21:46Speaker 4: you know, in the air as far as when, when
- 21:49Speaker 4: you can expect him back. And again, Byron's like hopeful
- 21:52Speaker 4: that this isn't long, but, you know, and he is
- 21:55Speaker 4: going to be the guy that plays through it. It's
- 21:57Speaker 4: just when you see that moment where he pulls up
- 22:00Speaker 4: and just doesn't go down and get a ball that,
- 22:02Speaker 4: that stands out as like, wow, that's a little different.
- 22:06Speaker 1: It just feels like you can't send away a healthy
- 22:09Speaker 1: outfield body right now. Like, yeah, just, I mean, is
- 22:14Speaker 1: there any update on Austin Martin?
- 22:18Speaker 4: There has not been an update on Austin Martin while
- 22:20Speaker 4: we're on the trip, but he didn't come on the trip.
- 22:22Speaker 4: He could be the guy that comes up September 1
- 22:25Speaker 4: because it didn't seem like it was going to be
- 22:26Speaker 4: a long-term thing. But it also seems like an easy
- 22:29Speaker 4: thing to stretch out until September 1 and you get
- 22:31Speaker 4: him back and put him back in the platoon.
- 22:34Speaker 2: All right.
- 22:35Speaker 1: Well, we asked you yesterday for your ideas on how
- 22:38Speaker 1: to spark the team outside of calling up Walker Jenkins,
- 22:41Speaker 1: which we know you all want. We'll get to that
- 22:43Speaker 1: right after this.
- 22:49Speaker 7: One of the things that I wasn't very good at
- 22:51Speaker 7: was playing Major League Baseball. One of the things that
- 22:53Speaker 7: I'm really good at is sweating. Even now, when I'm
- 22:57Speaker 7: not playing, I need hydration. I need to make sure
- 23:01Speaker 7: it's convenient. That's why I choose Quince.
- 23:04Speaker 5: Yep, Quince electrolyte stick packs to the rescue, Kratts. They
- 23:08Speaker 5: taste great, and the zero sugar options are stevia-free. They're keto-approved,
- 23:12Speaker 5: naturally sweetened with fermented rice, and like everything Quince does,

- 23:19Speaker 5: they're less than half of the leading brand. Give your
- 23:22Speaker 5: body what it really needs to stay hydrated. Go to

- 23:41Speaker 5: product is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent
- 23:44Speaker 5: any disease.
- 23:49Speaker 1: Dan put out a post on X yesterday. I should clarify,
- 23:54Speaker 1: it was my idea to ask this question because a
- 23:56Speaker 1: lot of you responded very passionately to the question. To
- 24:03Speaker 1: give us your idea, if you were in charge of
- 24:05Speaker 1: the twins, besides calling up Walker Jenkins, because we know
- 24:08Speaker 1: you want that first and foremost, what else would you
- 24:11Speaker 1: do to try to give this team a spark? And
- 24:15Speaker 1: we definitely got a lot of responses. Most of them
- 24:17Speaker 1: were sarcastic, but we kind of distilled the serious ones
- 24:22Speaker 1: down to a few different areas and we'll put them
- 24:24Speaker 1: on the screen right here. First, the most common one
- 24:29Speaker 1: was probably calling up Emmanuel Rodriguez, also at AAA. Another
- 24:33Speaker 1: one was bringing back Matt Walner, who was also tearing
- 24:36Speaker 1: it up in AAA and we haven't talked about a
- 24:37Speaker 1: whole lot. And then my favorite on here is, uh,
- 24:43Speaker 1: from Waylon Miller extending Ryan Jeffers or Joe Ryan. They've
- 24:47Speaker 1: extended maybe two players in the past six years. Um,
- 24:52Speaker 1: I don't have much to say about that. I think,
- 24:54Speaker 1: I think those are all fine ideas. Certainly Tyler, like
- 24:57Speaker 1: if they started handing out extensions in August, that would
- 24:59Speaker 1: definitely give the clubhouse a little bit of a jolt,
- 25:01Speaker 1: I think. Yeah.
- 25:02Speaker 3: It gets some, some particular guys excited in the locker
- 25:05Speaker 3: room anyway, but you know, I don't know if that's
- 25:07Speaker 3: going to change, uh, the way they play tonight. But yeah,
- 25:12Speaker 3: it's a, it's, yeah, it's, it's a tough time. And
- 25:14Speaker 3: like we just said, with rosters, everything else, it's just a,
- 25:18Speaker 3: it's a tough part of the year. And the guy
- 25:20Speaker 3: like Walner, like that's the crazy thing with baseball. Like
- 25:23Speaker 3: it's been Jenkins, Jenkins, Jenkins. Well, he's quietly been, I
- 25:27Speaker 3: think it last I saw, he was close to like
- 25:29Speaker 3: a home run record for St.
- 25:30Speaker 4: Paul.
- 25:31Speaker 2: Like he's been tearing the cover off the baseball. It's just,
- 25:35Speaker 2: it's weird.
- 25:35Speaker 3: Now they're going to have this surplus of left-handed hitting.
- 25:38Speaker 3: which is normally never an issue. So it's like, okay,
- 25:41Speaker 3: now we've got all these left-handed outfielders.
- 25:43Speaker 2: What do we do with them?
- 25:44Speaker 3: So it'll create some interesting things come next year, but
- 25:47Speaker 3: there's definitely some options. The world with the pitchforks and flames,
- 25:54Speaker 3: we all know who they want, but at the end
- 25:56Speaker 3: of the day, there's guys that get above my pay
- 25:59Speaker 3: grade that are going to make some of these decisions.
- 26:03Speaker 4: No, it's funny. The Twins have a tree. that grows
- 26:07Speaker 4: left-handed outfielders, especially the last six or seven, eight years.
- 26:12Speaker 4: It's been a problem. They have trouble finding right-handed hitting
- 26:15Speaker 4: outfield right now. They can't. Look at it. Larnik, Walner, Jenkins,
- 26:19Speaker 4: Emmanuel Rodriguez, Max Kepler. Go back. Keep going. Roden. They
- 26:25Speaker 4: traded for Roden. Jack and the Magic Beanstalk came to
- 26:31Speaker 4: the Twins and it just, it grows left-handed. Yeah. Yeah.
- 26:39Speaker 4: It's like the, the move is the move is Walker Jenkins, right?
- 26:44Speaker 4: Like that is the true move. I like Emmanuel Rodriguez.
- 26:48Speaker 4: I think he is ready for the challenge, man. He
- 26:52Speaker 4: would be amazing for us for quotes. He is a,
- 26:56Speaker 4: like he likes media. You can tell he's ready to
- 26:59Speaker 4: be that star. He has not stayed on the field.
- 27:03Speaker 4: Like he, you know, we've talked about both Walker Jenkins
- 27:05Speaker 4: and him have just had tremendous health setbacks over the
- 27:09Speaker 4: last couple of years. Rodriguez's thumb has bugged him. He,
- 27:13Speaker 4: you know, he was going to possibly get called up
- 27:14Speaker 4: in somewhere in April, May, and he slid headfirst in
- 27:18Speaker 4: the first base and hurt his thumb and it cost
- 27:21Speaker 4: him a couple months. And he's been back and, you know,
- 27:24Speaker 4: doesn't shock you that he didn't have surgery. He rehabbed it.
- 27:28Speaker 4: He's had a game or two where he's missed it
- 27:30Speaker 4: because of soreness and But that's to be expected. You know, Walner,
- 27:36Speaker 4: the defensive issues early in the year combined with the
- 27:39Speaker 4: slump were pretty detrimental. And, you know, you look at
- 27:43Speaker 4: Rodriguez and you look at Walner– or you look at
- 27:47Speaker 4: Jenkins and Rodriguez and they are better defenders for sure.
- 27:51Speaker 4: And you can understand why potentially they've moved ahead on
- 27:53Speaker 4: the food– whatever. I'm tired. The food chain, the food pyramid. Yes.
- 28:06Speaker 4: I think, I think that, you know, what happens to
- 28:10Speaker 4: Walnars could be really interesting because it does feel a
- 28:12Speaker 4: little similar to what Larnik was like going into last
- 28:15Speaker 4: off season where everybody was like, Oh, he's gone for sure.
- 28:18Speaker 4: But then Larnik stayed and has had the best year
- 28:22Speaker 4: of his career. So, I don't know what happens with Walner.
- 28:25Speaker 4: I don't know what happens in the future with Larnik.
- 28:28Speaker 4: It just seems like we're at this point where it's
- 28:31Speaker 4: probably time to be Jenkins and then Rodriguez.
- 28:36Speaker 1: I'm not going to let this segment end without showing
- 28:38Speaker 1: some of the fun ones as well.
- 28:39Speaker 2: So here we go.
- 28:41Speaker 1: Some of my favorite of your sarcastic responses to our question.
- 28:45Speaker 1: First off, promote Walker Jenkins twice. That's a good one.
- 28:48Speaker 1: If you could have two of him.
- 28:49Speaker 2: That would be great.
- 28:50Speaker 1: Uh, we have add a fourth catcher to the active roster. Smart, smart. Uh,
- 28:56Speaker 1: this one's a little risque, but we have pants, optional
- 28:59Speaker 1: nights for players and fans. I'm not sure that we
- 29:02Speaker 1: really want that, but.
- 29:03Speaker 4: I mean, that's every day.
- 29:04Speaker 1: There's actually three in a row here.
- 29:07Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 29:08Speaker 1: Three in a row here with a common theme, uh,
- 29:10Speaker 1: male rally dancers. How about that? I thought about playing,
- 29:19Speaker 1: playing in speed. Please don't. Play in Speedos. That's, again,
- 29:24Speaker 1: pants optional in that option as well. Hire an Etsy witch.
- 29:27Speaker 1: You know, a little voodoo, a little good juju. That
- 29:30Speaker 1: could do well.
- 29:32Speaker 2: Or the rally sausage.
- 29:33Speaker 1: Rally sausage. Bring back the rally sausage.
- 29:36Speaker 2: It had a good run.
- 29:37Speaker 1: Probably the best one here is a beat right or
- 29:40Speaker 1: track race during the seventh inning stretch yeah.
- 29:43Speaker 4: Jay lanky is fired i i answer his tweets too.
- 29:45Speaker 2: He's fired we need.
- 29:47Speaker 4: That one rally dancers male rally dancers much better.
- 29:52Speaker 3: Than the writers y'all gotta wear the the little runner's
- 29:55Speaker 3: shorts you know the ones that cut like all the
- 29:56Speaker 3: way up to your hip So stiff breeze.
- 29:59Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 29:59Speaker 2: Get a free one.
- 30:01Speaker 1: Who would win the beat writer warning track race, Stan?
- 30:05Speaker 4: Bobby Nightingale would crush us. Yeah. He runs.
- 30:10Speaker 2: He's a runner. Well, no, no.
- 30:13Speaker 4: I shouldn't say like he's a runner runner, like, but he,
- 30:16Speaker 4: like he, he actually goes and, Like he works out.
- 30:20Speaker 4: Physical activity. Yeah. Okay. Right. I, I, I, my, my
- 30:23Speaker 4: physical activity is, I can, I can bike with the
- 30:26Speaker 4: best of them. You know, I can do a, yeah.
- 30:29Speaker 4: You do bike race too. I do not. Yeah. I
- 30:32Speaker 4: don't run.
- 30:33Speaker 2: Do some laps around.
- 30:36Speaker 6: Yes.
- 30:37Speaker 4: Good job on that pronunciation.
- 30:38Speaker 1: Nicely done.
- 30:39Speaker 4: No, but I think, I think the male rally dancers, uh,
- 30:42Speaker 4: that sounds great, but yeah, Jay Lenke, Jay apocalypse. No,
- 30:46Speaker 4: you were fired for suggesting beat writer. I do not
- 30:51Speaker 4: do that.
- 30:51Speaker 2: Maybe we could do the mascots.
- 30:54Speaker 4: Since we're talking about funny challenges, I want to put
- 30:58Speaker 4: out what the twins are doing for their fantasy football
- 31:02Speaker 4: draft pick competition. They put names in a hat of
- 31:08Speaker 4: different staff members yesterday. Grady Sizemore, Pete Mackey, their coaches,
- 31:15Speaker 4: and then trainers and stuff like that. and every player
- 31:18Speaker 4: picked a name. Yep. Cody Clemens ended up with Masaabe,
- 31:23Speaker 4: and he was thrilled and got in and did FaceTime
- 31:25Speaker 4: with him. But what they're doing is an exit velo competition.
- 31:30Speaker 4: Derek Shelton will throw batting practice on the field on Friday,
- 31:35Speaker 4: and those coaches will hit. And whichever player or whichever coach, staffer,
- 31:41Speaker 4: produces the highest exit velo, that player then, like, so
- 31:45Speaker 4: Mick Abel landed Grady Sizemore. If Grady Sizemore produces the best. Yeah.
- 31:51Speaker 4: If Grady Sizemore produces the best X of ELO, Mick
- 31:54Speaker 4: Abel gets to choose where he picks in the draft. Basically,
- 31:57Speaker 4: they're just competing to last year was fun to Tommy Watkins,
- 32:02Speaker 4: their third base coach hit fungos with bait numbered baseballs
- 32:06Speaker 4: towards a bucket in the outfield. And whatever ball landed
- 32:10Speaker 4: the closest to the bucket, that guy got to pick
- 32:12Speaker 4: where they drafted and so on and so forth. So,
- 32:16Speaker 4: I like how teams are being inventive. It was pretty
- 32:18Speaker 4: entertaining yesterday. Harry Welsh is one of the video guys.
- 32:23Speaker 4: He also does advanced scouting on the pitching side. Jeff
- 32:30Speaker 4: Hoffman landed him, and I heard Harry say that he
- 32:33Speaker 4: thinks he can get pretty close on this. There's going
- 32:37Speaker 4: to be some fun little battles with this.
- 32:40Speaker 2: Some injuries, I'm sure. I think they're figuring out.
- 32:45Speaker 4: That they're creating their own way to spark themselves. Cause
- 32:48Speaker 4: they don't need me standing like on a bucket in
- 32:50Speaker 4: the middle of the room, giving a speech. Like that's not,
- 32:53Speaker 4: that's not it. I don't do speeches.
- 32:58Speaker 2: Hey, that'll definitely get the boys loose. Get them shake
- 33:01Speaker 2: off whatever they're thinking about today. I'll tell you that.
- 33:04Speaker 2: That'll be good. Good for the morale.
- 33:07Speaker 1: Well, they should probably make a cardboard cutout of Dan
- 33:11Speaker 1: Hayes where they can peel sections off for the rest
- 33:15Speaker 1: of the season, like Rachel Phelps in Major League, because
- 33:17Speaker 1: they're going to need some wins the rest of the way.
- 33:19Speaker 1: They probably won't do that, but cardboard cut out of you.
- 33:23Speaker 4: They will definitely not. I don't like that idea, but yeah,
- 33:28Speaker 4: I know they need to get going right now. I mean,
- 33:30Speaker 4: it's 15 in a row. It's the sprint, as Derek
- 33:34Speaker 4: Shelton said, and it starts Friday against the White Sox,
- 33:38Speaker 4: and man, are they ever in the need of At
- 33:42Speaker 4: least they can, you know, it's in their own hands.
- 33:45Speaker 4: That's what they're saying. This is in our own hands
- 33:47Speaker 4: and we can all decide it together. But, man, they really,
- 33:51Speaker 4: I mean, they need to get going. They need to
- 33:53Speaker 4: get home and get healthy. And, you know, you're running
- 33:58Speaker 4: out of, like, this was a very defeating road trip
- 34:02Speaker 4: every step of the way.
- 34:04Speaker 1: Here's what it looks like the rest of the way. Chicago,
- 34:07Speaker 1: as we mentioned. at Target Field this weekend, followed by
- 34:10Speaker 1: the Tigers, and then White Sox and Tigers on the road,
- 34:13Speaker 1: then the Guardians at home. That's the 15-game stretch against
- 34:16Speaker 1: the Central, which is so critical. Well, they're all critical
- 34:19Speaker 1: at this point. Then after that, home Yankees at Angels
- 34:22Speaker 1: and Giants and against the Rangers. And it's 28 games, guys.
- 34:27Speaker 1: I mean, probably need to go like 18-10 to have
- 34:31Speaker 1: a shot at this. I'm going to say 18-10 because
- 34:33Speaker 1: that would make them 82-80, which is what I predicted
- 34:35Speaker 1: at the beginning of the season. So I'll take that
- 34:38Speaker 1: no matter what. Um, they've done it before. They were,
- 34:41Speaker 1: they woke up on June 14th, uh, 32 and 48
- 34:45Speaker 1: games under 500, which was their season low that they've
- 34:48Speaker 1: hit a couple of times. And then over the next month,
- 34:50Speaker 1: plus they went 17 and nine to get back to 500, uh,
- 34:54Speaker 1: just after the all-star break when they, when they beat
- 34:56Speaker 1: the Cubs on the road in Chicago. So it's not
- 34:59Speaker 1: unheard of certainly nothing from their recent play. has uh
- 35:03Speaker 1: suggested that it might happen tyler um and it's just
- 35:06Speaker 1: the their play against the bad teams continues to be
- 35:09Speaker 1: crushing them they're they're now 21 and 29 against the
- 35:13Speaker 1: bottom 11 teams in baseball besides themselves they are now
- 35:17Speaker 1: in that group as well but um so there's a
- 35:21Speaker 1: couple of those teams left on the schedule but there's
- 35:22Speaker 1: also a lot of uh a lot of the teams
- 35:24Speaker 1: in the middle that they've been doing pretty well against
- 35:26Speaker 1: they found a spark in june they got to find
- 35:28Speaker 1: one again now.
- 35:30Speaker 2: Yeah, and I've said it all along.
- 35:33Speaker 3: It's weird that it seems like they haven't really played
- 35:35Speaker 3: their own division a lot. They played the Royals here.
- 35:39Speaker 3: They played Cleveland once that I even remember. So it
- 35:43Speaker 3: is ultimately like you're kind of controlling your own destiny here.
- 35:47Speaker 2: You've got familiar foes.
- 35:49Speaker 3: You haven't seen each other in a while, so there
- 35:51Speaker 3: will be probably some fresh faces on both sides of
- 35:53Speaker 3: the ball. It makes for fun baseball at the end
- 35:57Speaker 3: of the day because it's– Guys who circle every year,
- 36:00Speaker 3: you know, or at the beginning of the season, it's like, oh,
- 36:02Speaker 3: these teams are going to be good, whatever.
- 36:03Speaker 2: You know, but.
- 36:06Speaker 3: Playing the White Sox, you know, it's one of those
- 36:08Speaker 3: places I've always, for whatever reason, there's always some animosity
- 36:11Speaker 3: there between us. I don't know if it was, you know,
- 36:13Speaker 3: the Todd father and the other dugout, you know, whatever.
- 36:16Speaker 3: There's just always something. And so it made it really
- 36:19Speaker 3: easy to get fired up. and get a little extra
- 36:22Speaker 3: adrenaline for those games, and you're going to need it.
- 36:26Speaker 2: It's one you do.
- 36:27Speaker 3: The two teams ahead of you are who you're playing,
- 36:30Speaker 3: or three, I guess, for that matter. I can't remember
- 36:32Speaker 3: exactly the standings now, but if you beat the teams
- 36:35Speaker 3: you're playing for the next two weeks, you're going to
- 36:37Speaker 3: make big moves overnight over and over again, and that's,
- 36:40Speaker 3: I think, the best way to look at it is
- 36:41Speaker 3: every win for the next 15 games moves you substantially
- 36:46Speaker 3: to where you potentially, like if you get hot right now,
- 36:49Speaker 3: you don't have to worry about the wild card because
- 36:51Speaker 3: you can just bypass the teams ahead of you in
- 36:53Speaker 3: your own division.
- 36:53Speaker 2: So it's one.
- 36:55Speaker 3: Winning at the end of the day, it always cures all,
- 36:57Speaker 3: but no more than, than now it's like, you know,
- 37:00Speaker 3: just somehow two out of three, if you can sweep
- 37:04Speaker 3: somebody even better, but just, just when these series and
- 37:06Speaker 3: you're going to gain ground.
- 37:08Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 37:09Speaker 1: 18 and 10 would be the equivalent of winning two
- 37:10Speaker 1: games exactly in each of their final series. So it's, it's,
- 37:15Speaker 1: it's a hill to climb for sure. Not over yet.
- 37:17Speaker 1: We'll see what happens. Thanks, everybody, for listening. We'll be
