- 33:34Speaker 1: Well, thanks for coming on, my man. Thank you so
- 33:36Speaker 1: much for spending time with us here on a Tuesday
- 33:39Speaker 1: morning listen. An incredible background that you bring here to
- 33:44Speaker 1: your voice, a performing arts background, an acting background on CBS,
- 33:51Speaker 1: and here you are with your brand new single. How
- 33:54Speaker 1: does one negotiate all of this into one identity?
- 33:58Speaker 29: Yeah? So I was born and raised here in the US,
- 34:01Speaker 29: and my mom made sure Hindi was always stoken at
- 34:04Speaker 29: home so they'd connect to my roots, and that naturally
- 34:08Speaker 29: shaped the way I approached music today. I ended up
- 34:11Speaker 29: studying at NYU Tish, which gave me formal artistic training,
- 34:15Speaker 29: and outside of music, I had the chance to act
- 34:17Speaker 29: in musicals and TV, and all those experiences really helped
- 34:20Speaker 29: shape me as a performer.
- 34:22Speaker 1: I bet, I bet those are all very tremendous backgrounds.
- 34:27Speaker 7: You know.
- 34:28Speaker 1: Talking about those backgrounds, you know now as you as
- 34:31Speaker 1: you set out to start releasing music out there a
- 34:34Speaker 1: whole different world and perhaps engaging parts of your background
- 34:39Speaker 1: that you may not have initially envisioned, you know, as
- 34:43Speaker 1: a performing artist, as an actor in front of television
- 34:48Speaker 1: on mainstream television, might I add? And then now who
- 34:51Speaker 1: you are releasing music, what are those other disciplines do
- 34:54Speaker 1: you borrow from when you release music? Yeah?
- 34:57Speaker 29: No, I think the musical theater ASTDIC really help me.
- 35:00Speaker 6: You know.
- 35:01Speaker 29: It was a little time ago. I did the d
- 35:02Speaker 29: D LJ Works up here in New York City, the
- 35:05Speaker 29: first one they did and with the Puchure Oprah and I.
- 35:08Speaker 29: That was such a great experience because that helps me
- 35:10Speaker 29: kind of were uh, you know, work around the fusion aspect.
- 35:13Speaker 29: That's where they were going for as well. They make
- 35:15Speaker 29: a lot of English and the infant job and everything.
- 35:17Speaker 29: And then after that I performed at La Hooya Playhouse
- 35:20Speaker 29: in California. There was a musical called Banging It Again
- 35:23Speaker 29: based in the South Asian culture, which was another great experience,
- 35:26Speaker 29: same thing fusion, So I think the musical theater side
- 35:29Speaker 29: of everything really kind of helped me find out what
- 35:32Speaker 29: I want to do with when it comes to my music.
- 35:34Speaker 1: Yeah, I think I think safe to call you a
- 35:38Speaker 1: multi hyphen it. Let's just say that, right. You're you're
- 35:42Speaker 1: you're a man of many disciplines here, you know, but
- 35:46Speaker 1: as a New Yorker, you're a New York native, you know,
- 35:50Speaker 1: you you get you you have this very interesting background
- 35:52Speaker 1: that you bring to the diaspora. What of that background
- 35:56Speaker 1: do you often find yourself kind of evoking you will
- 36:00Speaker 1: as you as you go back and forth with India.
- 36:03Speaker 29: Yeah, No, I think being brought up here it allowed
- 36:05Speaker 29: me to get comfortable with the Western contemporary music. Since
- 36:10Speaker 29: I was I was like seven years old. My mom
- 36:12Speaker 29: right away put me into vocal classes, I you know,
- 36:15Speaker 29: and I really kind of learned what American classical music
- 36:19Speaker 29: is all about. And that kind of gave me that foundation.
- 36:22Speaker 29: And then I still remember I was, you know, I
- 36:24Speaker 29: grew up listening to R G, you know, and it
- 36:26Speaker 29: was just like it just really gave me that kind
- 36:29Speaker 29: of realization that I wanted to do something that kind
- 36:31Speaker 29: of bridges the Western side as well as the South
- 36:36Speaker 29: Asian side of our of music. You know, I wanted
- 36:38Speaker 29: to do something that can highlight the amazing culture that
- 36:42Speaker 29: we have and and you know the music that can.
- 36:45Speaker 1: Do that, It certainly can. It's one of the few
- 36:47Speaker 1: things that can brother for sure. You know, let's talk
- 36:50Speaker 1: about this this marriage between music performing arts. You've been
- 36:54Speaker 1: in front of the camera, we've talked about that, and
- 36:57Speaker 1: then we've talked about your performing arts background here. But tally,
- 37:00Speaker 1: let's talk about Banging It, which was a Bangoda live
- 37:04Speaker 1: music theater performance that you did. Tell us about that.
- 37:08Speaker 1: What was that like for you?
- 37:10Speaker 29: Oh, it was it was amazing. The team was really beautiful,
- 37:14Speaker 29: and you know, it was we had to learn bunk
- 37:17Speaker 29: for almost I think it was like we were there
- 37:19Speaker 29: for a couple of months and you know it's what
- 37:21Speaker 29: took weeks and weeks for me to have to learn
- 37:23Speaker 29: bunk and it really made me realize how vast our
- 37:26Speaker 29: culture is. And it was just a beautiful experience all
- 37:28Speaker 29: the way from the acting, singing to the dancing. It
- 37:31Speaker 29: was beautiful.
- 37:32Speaker 1: Yeah, it's pretty interesting and I think it captures this
- 37:35Speaker 1: really interesting culture of ours that is, you know, we
- 37:39Speaker 1: love our dance, we love our dance teams We love
- 37:42Speaker 1: the culture around, the competitive edge around it. It's quite
- 37:45Speaker 1: common out here and I think that's really well captured there.
- 37:49Speaker 1: You know, going forward, you you you put out this
- 37:52Speaker 1: single and it's not just any single, it's with you know,
- 37:56Speaker 1: India's one of India's biggest labels. It's it's with one
- 38:00Speaker 1: of India's biggest artists. You know, how do you do that,
- 38:04Speaker 1: mister Aurora? How do you arrive at a single in
- 38:06Speaker 1: such a big way and what I would consider one
- 38:09Speaker 1: of your first big outings out there?
- 38:11Speaker 29: Yeah, I know, you know, all the credit goes to
- 38:14Speaker 29: U T Series. You know, when T Series reached out,
- 38:16Speaker 29: they were just really drawn to the fusion style been
- 38:19Speaker 29: I'd been building and from there they wanted the first
- 38:22Speaker 29: release to be something special, and you know, they were
- 38:25Speaker 29: the ones who brought the idea of the collaboration orgy
- 38:28Speaker 29: thing to life. So you know, all the credit goes
- 38:30Speaker 29: to them.
- 38:32Speaker 1: Yeah, it's it's it's quite quite a performance, and we're
- 38:34Speaker 1: going to play it here for a second, in a
- 38:36Speaker 1: second here after a couple more questions here with you brother,
- 38:40Speaker 1: I'm here of course with Arian Aurora. You know you've
- 38:43Speaker 1: got you you you add these different layers to this song.
- 38:47Speaker 1: You're you're dealing with a song that is a really
- 38:50Speaker 1: famous one. It's a song we've played here quite a
- 38:52Speaker 1: bit called Sudny by Adige saying, and now you're tasked
- 38:55Speaker 1: with reimagining it. And what you do is you bring
- 39:00Speaker 1: almost three different languages to it. You bring some Punjabi,
- 39:02Speaker 1: some Hindi, and then you also bring some English to it.
- 39:05Speaker 1: It's pretty difficult to manage all of those different sentiments
- 39:09Speaker 1: through one voice, but you do it so well. Tell
- 39:13Speaker 1: us about that challenge, and tell us about the decision
- 39:15Speaker 1: there to kind of go in different languages and arm
- 39:18Speaker 1: yourself with with this very dynamic approach.
- 39:22Speaker 29: Yeah, of course you meant to be. Surgery honestly feels
- 39:25Speaker 29: like the most authentic voice to who I am as
- 39:28Speaker 29: an artist right now because it naturally combines, you know,
- 39:31Speaker 29: both sides of me. It brings together Western contemporary influences
- 39:35Speaker 29: with South Asian musical emotion and melodies, which is really
- 39:39Speaker 29: the space I've always wanted to create them. And you know,
- 39:42Speaker 29: being able to do that with t series and urgy thing,
- 39:44Speaker 29: it's an honor.
- 39:45Speaker 1: Yeah, that's a remarkable achievement. It's really really cool, you know,
- 39:52Speaker 1: let's talk about the music side here as you get
- 39:54Speaker 1: ready to put out more stuff in the future. Tell
- 39:59Speaker 1: us what is it that we can expect here from you?
- 40:03Speaker 29: Yeah, No, there's more music coming, especially with t series.
- 40:06Speaker 29: And you know, I recently did a podcast with the
- 40:09Speaker 29: chef the cost Kanda in the City, and you know,
- 40:11Speaker 29: we talked about this. We talked about my debut with
- 40:14Speaker 29: the with the Men to Be Sojourny and then I
- 40:16Speaker 29: he we also talked about my upcoming release what will
- 40:18Speaker 29: come afterwards with these series and yeah, so I sang
- 40:21Speaker 29: this song for him, it's called Avari and it's not
- 40:24Speaker 29: released yet, but I just gave him a little, you know,
- 40:26Speaker 29: a little brief about it and yeah, and that's that
- 40:28Speaker 29: will be the next song that I'll be releasing. And yeah,
- 40:31Speaker 29: it was. It's just it's a really beautiful process.
- 40:34Speaker 1: You know. You you you're working on it, You've broken
- 40:37Speaker 1: out the different languages on the song, you go back
- 40:39Speaker 1: and record it. What was the process of putting this
- 40:41Speaker 1: song together? Like for you or Rian? Like, tell us
- 40:44Speaker 1: where where where did it all work out for you?
- 40:46Speaker 1: What was the moment when you when you were in
- 40:47Speaker 1: the studio, You're like, all right, this is going to
- 40:49Speaker 1: be great.
- 40:51Speaker 29: Yeah, I know, great questions, Sammy. You know, you know
- 40:53Speaker 29: what the main goal with Meant to Be Sojny was
- 40:56Speaker 29: emotional depth, you know, whether it's so or saying what
- 41:00Speaker 29: fans out is how they bring a real meaning to
- 41:03Speaker 29: every word they sing. And that same intention was very
- 41:07Speaker 29: important to me with this track, you know, whether I
- 41:09Speaker 29: was singing the English in the orphan Jabi.
- 41:13Speaker 1: Yeah, it's really well done. Well mister Aurora. If you
- 41:17Speaker 1: can do us the honor, please Arion and introduce this song.
- 41:21Speaker 1: It's called Meant to be Soudny. If you can do this,
- 41:24Speaker 1: the honor is we'll roll right into the track right now.
- 41:27Speaker 29: Hey, guys, check out my new song Meant to Be
- 41:30Speaker 29: Sojourny with Urgy sing out now on T series.
- 41:33Speaker 1: Nice. Thank you so much for joining us today.

- 41:37Speaker 29: Thank you so much. Amy, it was great to talk
- 41:39Speaker 29: to you.
- 41:39Speaker 1: All Right, folks, here's the track.

- 42:14Speaker 15: my destiny.

- 48:01Speaker 1: number one song on our Top twenty Countdown show. We've
- 48:05Speaker 1: got a string of these number one songs that we've
- 48:08Speaker 1: played for you today. Great hours so far. Wanted to
- 48:11Speaker 1: give a big shout out to Arian Aurora. I'll share
- 48:14Speaker 1: some thoughts on Arian and how dynamic of an individual
- 48:18Speaker 1: he is and exactly where he's going in this business. Now,
- 48:22Speaker 1: let's bring in Doita Das Gupta to the show. How
- 48:24Speaker 1: are you Douita?
- 48:25Speaker 15: Thanks Sammy.
- 48:26Speaker 14: Hey everyone, this Isnta Da Skipta your rukas Aavni Radio
- 48:29Speaker 14: Missy correspondent back with some fun facts about your favorite artists.
- 48:33Speaker 14: Today we're talking about the powerhouse of talent herself, Sunity
- 48:36Speaker 14: Johan Sunnity started wowing audiences as a child and over
- 48:39Speaker 14: the years she's become one of the most iconic voices
- 48:42Speaker 14: in Indian music. You probably know her from Hitseg Schilaki
- 48:45Speaker 14: Jiawani They see girl and Di Ljani Girlfriend. Her energy
- 48:49Speaker 14: and versatility is unmatched. Fast forward to twenty twenty four,
- 48:52Speaker 14: Sunity is still bringing the fire. She recently dropped ONK
- 48:55Speaker 14: with Trusha and Blizza, featuring none other than Sanya Malhotra
- 48:58Speaker 14: in the music video. And let's not forget such An
- 49:01Speaker 14: It's such from Vicky video, a track that's been stuck
- 49:05Speaker 14: in our heads since it dropped. Whether it's Hollywood blockbusters
- 49:08Speaker 14: or fresh indie vibe, Sunity continues to evolve while staying
- 49:11Speaker 14: true to her signature style. Well that's all for me now,
- 49:14Speaker 14: battis Sammy.
- 49:16Speaker 1: Thank you so much, Doita. And now she's dropped this
- 49:20Speaker 1: really cool collaboration with So. The song is called love
- 49:27Speaker 1: the orchestration, Love the vocal character. It's a great track.
- 49:31Speaker 8: So he yea.

- 52:43Speaker 1: and the song is called del pulling off a masterful
- 52:48Speaker 1: job with their vocals on that song. Really well done.
- 52:52Speaker 1: This is a really cool song too. Some interesting songs
- 52:56Speaker 1: coming from the Indian cinema world. Indeed, lately the song
- 53:00Speaker 1: is called Dushman got Dada really cool song from a
- 53:04Speaker 1: Great Grand Superhero soundtrack Vero man.

- 56:03Speaker 1: If you need a good, new, unique sound design for
- 56:06Speaker 1: your film, call up Amitrivedi. He'll imagine it for you.
- 56:11Speaker 1: Shout out to AMITRAVEDI, A big shout out to Arian
- 56:15Speaker 1: Aurora today, thirty years in this business, and I'll tell
- 56:18Speaker 1: you something I almost never say on this show. Today's
- 56:22Speaker 1: conversation was a trajectory call. Not a review of work
- 56:25Speaker 1: that's already done, not an interview with somebody whose resume
- 56:29Speaker 1: I can summarize for you.
- 56:30Speaker 27: No.
- 56:31Speaker 1: A trajectory call the kind of conversation you have with
- 56:35Speaker 1: an artist when you can already see where they're going.
- 56:38Speaker 1: And the only question is how fast Arian Aurora sat
- 56:42Speaker 1: with me today, Multi hyphen it Tish trained young enough
- 56:46Speaker 1: that most outlets wouldn't know what to put him on yet.
- 56:49Speaker 1: And that's exactly why I wanted to put him in
- 56:52Speaker 1: this chair today, because what I've learned in my thirty
- 56:55Speaker 1: years of doing this is that artists who matter most
- 56:58Speaker 1: aren't the ones with the biggest current credit. They're the
- 57:01Speaker 1: ones whose trajectory tells you where they're going next. Arian
- 57:05Speaker 1: understands something at his age that most performers fight against
- 57:09Speaker 1: for decades. Being formless isn't a problem to solve. It's
- 57:14Speaker 1: the asset. Tis taught him what the rules are, He's
- 57:17Speaker 1: earned the right to break them. The stage is his canvas,
- 57:21Speaker 1: the audience is his sanctuary, and the art itself refuses
- 57:25Speaker 1: to settle into one form because Arian refuses to. The
- 57:30Speaker 1: bookends he's already defined at his age are impressive. But
- 57:33Speaker 1: I'll tell you what I told him in this room,
- 57:36Speaker 1: That's not the part I'm watching. I'm watching the trajectory
- 57:40Speaker 1: because this can go anywhere Arion wants it to go,
- 57:43Speaker 1: and the rest of us are going to have to
- 57:45Speaker 1: run to catch up. Go find his work tonight, follow him.
- 57:49Speaker 1: Tell somebody you heard him here first. See you tomorrow, folks.
- 57:54Speaker 1: I'll leave you with the yes Raj have a great day.
