- 0:00Welcome to the Deep Dive. We have a powerful
- 0:01stack of sources today, all focused on the huge
- 0:05leaps in sustainability and innovation being
- 0:09shown by Dubai Electricity and Water Authority.
- 0:11That's right. The main focus is all on the title.
- 0:14Dubai Electricity and Water Authority highlights
- 0:16its key contributions to sustainability and renewable
- 0:19energy at World Future Energy Summit 2026. So
- 0:23this is all coming out of the summit happening
- 0:25this month, January 13th to 15th. Exactly. At
- 0:27ADNES. It's really their detailed blueprint for
- 0:30how they're driving towards the UAE and Dubai's
- 0:33net zero goals for 2050. It's less of a vision
- 0:36and more of a, you know, an action plan. OK,
- 0:38let's unpack this. The place to start has to
- 0:41be the monumental infrastructure projects. I
- 0:43mean, the scale is just enormous. It really is.
- 0:45And the foundation for all of it is the Mohammed
- 0:47bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park. Which is already
- 0:50the world's largest single site solar. correct?
- 0:52It is but the numbers they're projecting now
- 0:54are on another level. So what are we looking
- 0:56at? Well the current capacity is 3860 megawatts.
- 1:00The confirmed goal though is to push past 8000
- 1:03megawatts by 2030. Wow, that's more than a 60
- 1:06% increase in just a few years. A massive increase.
- 1:10And the impact that has on their overall energy
- 1:12mix is profound. How so? Right now, clean energy
- 1:16is about 21 .5 % of their total capacity. By
- 1:202030, that share is projected to jump to 36%.
- 1:24And the carbon reduction from that? That's the
- 1:26real payoff. We're talking an annual reduction
- 1:27of over 8 .5 million tons. every single year.
- 1:32It's a huge real -world impact. Okay, so from
- 1:35generating power in the desert, let's move to
- 1:36the city itself. They're showcasing their new
- 1:38headquarters, Al Shara. Yes. And the ambition
- 1:41here is just as big. They're aiming for it to
- 1:43be the tallest, largest and most advanced net
- 1:48positive government building in the world. Net
- 1:50positive, meaning it generates more energy than
- 1:53it consumes. Precisely. It's targeting platinum
- 1:55LE and gold well ratings, which is incredibly
- 1:58difficult. And to get there, it's just packed
- 2:00with future tech. What kind of tech? Things like
- 2:02IoT, big data analytics, and AI all working together
- 2:05to constantly optimize energy use and generation.
- 2:08That level of innovation doesn't just appear
- 2:10out of nowhere, though. Where is the research
- 2:12happening? They've built their research hubs
- 2:14right there at the solar park. First, you have
- 2:16the Sustainability and Innovation Center. And
- 2:19its role is? Think of it as a global hub for
- 2:22clean energy education. It's got interactive
- 2:24exhibits, and a big focus is preparing Emiratis
- 2:28for these future roles. I see. And the other
- 2:31hub? That would be the R &D Center. This is where
- 2:34the deep science happens. They're tackling challenges
- 2:38in solar, smart grids, water, you know, efficiency.
- 2:42Are they getting results? They are. They've registered
- 2:4464 patents with 18 already granted in fields
- 2:47like concentrated solar power, robotics, even
- 2:503D printing. So we have the power generation,
- 2:53the smart building, but you need to get that
- 2:55energy to the consumer. Let's talk about transportation.
- 2:58The EV green charger initiative. And this has
- 3:00been around for a while, hasn't it? It has. They
- 3:02launched it back in 2014. It was actually the
- 3:04region's first public charging network. They
- 3:07were really ahead of the curve on that one. So
- 3:09where does that network stand today? Today, it
- 3:11operates more than 1 ,700 charging points across
- 3:14Dubai. You've got everything from ultra -fast
- 3:17public chargers to... Simple wallbox options.
- 3:21And none of this runs without a serious digital
- 3:23backbone. This is where their digital subsidiary,
- 3:26Morohub, comes in. Absolutely. Morohub is kind
- 3:29of the operational brain. They're showcasing
- 3:32their green data center services and capabilities
- 3:34in cloud computing. What specifically caught
- 3:37your eye? They presented an integrated security
- 3:39platform that uses AI -powered visual analytics.
- 3:42So using AI for monitoring and threat detection.
- 3:45They're also leveraging the Fuse AI platform
- 3:48to... accelerate new AI -driven solutions. So
- 3:52what this all means for you listening is that
- 3:54we're seeing a complete ecosystem in transition.
- 3:57It's not just one project. No, it's all integrated.
- 3:59You have the massive utility infrastructure like
- 4:01the solar park. Which connects directly to the
- 4:03cutting -edge physical architecture of El Shira.
- 4:05And it's all underpinned by that digital transformation
- 4:07from MoroHub. The numbers like that 8 ,000 megawatt
- 4:11goal or the 1 ,700 chargers just make the scale
- 4:13of it tangible. That integration is really the
- 4:16key takeaway here. It is. And it leaves you with
- 4:19a really provocative thought to consider. Let's
- 4:21hear it. If Dubai Electricity and Water Authority
- 4:23is setting a new global benchmark for a net positive
- 4:26government building with Al -Shira, what does
- 4:29this signify about the future role of AI and
- 4:31big data? Is constant AI driven monitoring now
- 4:35the mandatory standard for achieving the most
- 4:37demanding global green certifications?
