- 0:15representative. Thank you.
- 0:34Hey, welcome back. We've got episode 11 today
- 0:39yesterday was our first day of our mini mail survey.
- 0:44And we'll see from the guys on how, how, well it's gone for
- 0:47them so far. How's it going Josh?
- 0:52It's going pretty good. My manager is giving us the
- 0:56stand-up talk. Friday morning.
- 1:00Finally seem to have the. I'm not sure.
- 1:05I'll get back to you. Response to the few questions.
- 1:11There were Including for upside down.
- 1:16Can I just put a tick mark, you know, check mark, and show it to
- 1:21you, or do I have to pull them out and to actually knowing what
- 1:27he was doing Saturday morning. So that was a plus However, one
- 1:32of the other supervisors, my coworker Mary that you guys met,
- 1:40the supervisor on her side, was telling her that when she was
- 1:44asking about the DPS hours and outside Downs.
- 1:48Will you already get credit problem, the end of run for your
- 1:52DPS numbers. So apparently, she heard back
- 1:58from District telling her, yes, you are supposed to count those.
- 2:05So she needs to turn that in Monday morning because that
- 2:09Cooper was, there was no longer there when they got back in the
- 2:12afternoon. Mike.
- 2:15How did your weekend first of many male survey go?
- 2:20Actually, ours went ours went pretty.
- 2:22Well are our new whatever is title is station manager.
- 2:28Oh I see talking to him was a lot like talking to my Dr. He
- 2:35said the the things he said were basically the same things my Dr.
- 2:39Said in our Zoom training so it went really well.
- 2:46We did our measurements last week.
- 2:49Round trip to everything that went that was easy.
- 2:54Cat was easy. I showed up yesterday and every
- 2:58route had a tub sitting in front of the hot case with their rod
- 3:05letters and flats with a sticky note on top of it, with the
- 3:09count of how many were there. The S 99 mail was already in
- 3:14there to already bundled up. And then there were a few pieces
- 3:18in the hot case that they brought to us later.
- 3:21And when I checked the numbers later, those were included in
- 3:25the. Those were included in my the
- 3:28numbers they had before. I brought my numbers back from
- 3:32what I pulled out of the DPS, my upside down Etc.
- 3:37So and then, you know, no argument over, you know, mr.
- 3:42Owned Parcels said, time yourself, taking them over to
- 3:45the triage area. So it actually went.
- 3:50It went pretty well Bill. How did yours go?
- 4:01Here? We go a little bit later on,
- 4:05okay, but I guess I need to know the build the story for it and
- 4:11you'll understand why. But we had a talk first thing in
- 4:14the morning. I gave the talk so everybody was
- 4:17clear on everything that some of the situation will discuss later
- 4:21came up during that and You know, you just you just have to
- 4:27laugh because of the amount of information misinformation
- 4:30disinformation. You know it is just you know,
- 4:34what do you what do you pull out of your DPS?
- 4:36Everything that doesn't belong. Okay.
- 4:40Now the only discrepancy I had with the our discussions earlier
- 4:44off. The the podcast was about the
- 4:46UVB M as you know you're handling it once it goes right
- 4:51into the damn trash but yeah, technically If you handle it and
- 4:57it's not, you know, you know for delivery, yes.
- 5:00What does it matter which way it goes?
- 5:02Do, BBM. Miss Stewart, mis-sent, whatever
- 5:06you can pull it out, okay? But you know, I'm still confused
- 5:13as far as helps management was trained because the one specific
- 5:19thing that really ticked me off. Was my clearance slip, the 3821
- 5:22little white slip, you have for clearing your accountable.
- 5:25Yeah, now my we don't sign for accountable the clerk just scans
- 5:29them into the clerk mail and you get them.
- 5:32They'll show up on your scanner to But I go get the 3821
- 5:37cleared. And the supervisor says, oh, no,
- 5:39that's not. That's not, you know, in the
- 5:40miscellaneous. I said, no, they give you
- 5:43examples of what they accepted miscellaneous and if you have
- 5:46others, there's a big space at the bottom where you can put the
- 5:50time in with a description of what the miscellaneous activity
- 5:53was. And she looks at me and says,
- 5:56I'll have to look into that. My understanding is now included
- 6:02under end of shift or I was just going to leave that.
- 6:08Now, I want to I want the extra two minutes Okay, there's
- 6:15nothing in there about the 3820 ones.
- 6:17As far as end, the ship's is concerned.
- 6:20I think there is. I think that's right.
- 6:24I don't know. I've read it to my eyes are
- 6:26bleeding so let me look into that.
- 6:30Yeah, look into it but they were It's would be the time to vent
- 6:51from Return to you to either be a or clock out.
- 6:56Well, the problem of it is that it is a connection actual actual
- 7:02function that you don't do every day.
- 7:07So, therefore, you should be getting paid for Well, I can
- 7:13tell you in Pascal's they've said don't be coming with this
- 7:17slip. If you're only going to come
- 7:19from these two weeks and then stop need to be doing it every
- 7:22day. Well, yeah, I've got them all
- 7:25the way back to the 2018. So yeah, I think I can prove
- 7:29that. Okay, people sit there and say
- 7:32no you don't, I open up my drawer and there's a, you know,
- 7:36an eight and a half inch stack of these damn things that in
- 7:38there, okay, maybe you do I'm not, you know, if you if you
- 7:48actually get cleared every day, then yes, here it is right here
- 7:53and the Rocks comprehensive guide.
- 7:57Number 25, end of shift, duties number 45 is clear and dispose
- 8:04of accountable items, wait, while items are cleared and
- 8:08complete paperwork for complete than sea pig, 603 section 43 for
- 8:13complete description of activities.
- 8:16So yeah, it is actually under the end of shift duties now, and
- 8:18not a separate. Oh, fuck.
- 8:22Yeah. Number five, who even looked at
- 8:23number five, like, loading time, the time required, for end of
- 8:33shift duties, is recorded daily on the mm, DD, and average
- 8:37weekly time over 52 weeks is included in the evaluation.
- 8:41The time begins. When the carry re-enters return
- 8:44to D you on the MDD and ends when they enter p.m. casing and
- 8:49decaying there. Now, switching to casing mail,
- 8:51Or they enter clock out for the day.
- 8:53Either event signals, the end of day timing, for end of shift,
- 8:57the end of shift, activities recorded as actual time are one
- 9:02gather accepted and collected male empty, male trays, MDD,
- 9:06personal items, Etc, and EXO vehicle to dispose of ordinary
- 9:11mail collected, accepted on Route.
- 9:13A fixed stamps on unstamped mail and customers left.
- 9:16Sufficient funds, face deposit bail, and designated location
- 9:20cases are those of undeliverable ordinary mail dispose of carrier
- 9:25pick up items collected on Route dispose of special service, mail
- 9:29collected accepted on Route registered certified, insured,
- 9:32blah, blah, blah, number five, clear, and dispose of
- 9:36accountable items registered certified and express mail.
- 9:39CEO dies postage due customs duties males.
- 9:42Wait while items are cleared and complete paperwork CP, 603
- 9:47section 43 for a complete description of activities.
- 9:51Return keys and credit card, seven dispose of sign forms for
- 9:55numbered insured, male dispose of undeliverable, ordinary and
- 9:59insured Parcels Place returned, empty male trays and designated
- 10:03storage locations, but vehicle from unload location to regular
- 10:08parking location, where applicable rural reach
- 10:11replenish, Lee cards and brochures stamp stock, replenish
- 10:15stamp stock turning cash from previous sales, participate in
- 10:18order to stamp stock sales. Teen trip report, complete the
- 10:23afternoon entries on the form. 42, 40 report vehicle problems
- 10:28for for required updates and AMS and RSD perform Saturday
- 10:34clearance activities, maintain case, configuration way, rate
- 10:39the fix postage, two Parcels received on her out.
- 10:43That's all of your end of shift, duties.
- 10:48So where the hell I can't even get the number five.
- 10:51Now, for some reason, it's section, 25 page, 78 of the
- 10:57comprehensive guide to Rex. I know I have this is that I
- 11:04can't even get that. I got.
- 11:06There we go. You do. 78 good to do.
- 11:17I can admit them up a bit of a saint.
- 11:21Now, this goes back to my question with my Dr. Was where
- 11:25do we get the information that dictates the time that's allowed
- 11:30and everything for all this? You know, we're how they how
- 11:34they compiled it? Well, let me hold on, I gotta go
- 11:38to page 99 of the P. 603 Because let me tell you something that
- 11:45the the mou they extended again, didn't do double time chicken
- 11:49shits, but if you know, in our situation, if we're helping out
- 11:54on another Route, 99 percent of the time, we're taking that with
- 11:58us, we're not returning to the office, it's inefficient it
- 12:03costs more, it takes more time. And that time that you spend
- 12:07coming back is now added onto your evaluation.
- 12:12Where you should be able to hit on you.
- 12:13While you're on the route, going to the other piece.
- 12:17You know that you're switching over to that?
- 12:19Yeah that's yeah. I know.
- 12:22But there's no format for that. No there isn't and I wish there
- 12:27was a little switching the route and the scanner.
- 12:29Yeah of course when they put this all together we didn't have
- 12:34the Staffing shortages like we have now.
- 12:38No. But you also didn't have you
- 12:40didn't have any of these. Damn, doctors and thesis
- 12:43Engineers, you know, whoever carried a freaking route and
- 12:48help out and anytime because you eat, we've helped out years
- 12:51past. So this is not the, you know,
- 12:54something new. This this is we've helped out
- 12:56before you know 2018 you know when you had wrapped Valerie you
- 13:03got you know you got a bunch of barnacles whatever.
- 13:05I mean you know so this is a known quantity that we do and
- 13:10that wasn't factored in. And then It gave us no I guess
- 13:13that there's no format for you to exit out.
- 13:16I can help an RD 20 on my route, but the hundred four houses
- 13:21Carriage homes that I'd be able to help on our three quarters of
- 13:25the way through my route and it wouldn't make sense for me to
- 13:27drive. 40 miles back to the post office of 14 miles back to
- 13:31service them when I can do them right there on the streets.
- 13:35Correct. And that in a similar instances
- 13:37would be when I'm running my Ox row on top of a regular route
- 13:41that What's up with my Ox route? I yeah I totally get that
- 13:45because then I'm having to go back and fudge numbers because I
- 13:50can't be logged into both routes at the same time TimeWise and a
- 13:5542 40s. And so yeah.
- 13:58No, I totally get that. No, it's just yeah, your
- 14:05efficiency experts and you didn't factor that in.
- 14:09So the clearance and disposition of accountable items per the p60
- 14:15three section 43 which is page 99 of the piece 603 has
- 14:22registered certified Express Mail, handling give postmaster
- 14:25supervisor or doesn t all the following for all articles
- 14:30attempted for deliver reliable delivery.
- 14:32Undelivered a registered certified.
- 14:34Or Express Mail articles, PS forms, 3849 PS forms 3811.
- 14:43Labels 11 be Clarence. The postmaster, supervisor
- 14:48doesn't eat clears each item on the PS form. 38 67, Where the
- 14:55use of the POS form. 3883 firm delivery mail firm, delivery
- 15:00book registered has been authorized return.
- 15:04The original bill is proof of delivery and I'll return seats
- 15:08for articles listed for Clarence, PS form, 3821
- 15:12clearance. Receipt showing the number of
- 15:13receipts and undeliverable articles, return for clearance.
- 15:17If the form is properly completed, the clearing employee
- 15:20signs and returns it to you. There were leaves you a further
- 15:22responsibility for the item. So, yeah, that's all under end
- 15:26of shift duties. Now, Welcome.
- 15:30But I'm sorry. Did I say that out loud?
- 15:38This is where they buried stuff in there saying, oh, that's
- 15:44factored. In all.
- 15:45That's factored in. We got a lot of stuff factored
- 15:47in but you know, God damn folks. I don't see it.
- 15:54I just don't see it. And everybody's so concerned
- 15:57about the mail volume folks that the mail volumes Really going to
- 16:01affect your routes at all and that's been email survey is only
- 16:056% of the of the 100%. Yeah. 94% of its already tracked
- 16:12by machines and scanner, right? One percentage of distances so
- 16:17that only least 5% for what the count.
- 16:20Yes. and, How my week went. It went okay through the week
- 16:31and then I got notified by my supervisor at 6:16 yester.
- 16:38Oh yeah. 616 yesterday morning that I was no longer on Route 3.
- 16:42I was going to be on Route 5. So I was wondering what's going
- 16:47on at that time. So and she got, so go ahead and
- 16:52get to work and I got there a little early just because its
- 16:55first day, many mail survey. Oh, and to catch carriers and
- 16:58tell him not to touch anything in the hot case till it's been
- 17:01counted. So anyways, supervisor finally
- 17:04gets there and I said, so what happened here?
- 17:07And she just gives me that look with the eyebrow is kind of one
- 17:11up one down and I said he quit and she Goes.
- 17:16Yes. So we lost one of our newer
- 17:19RCA's yesterday. Yeah.
- 17:24Yeah. Yeah.
- 17:25And so that leaves me and the other one and so that leaves me
- 17:35I told her as long as my time off that's been approved ice I
- 17:39get that that's I don't care anymore.
- 17:42I Friday I was scheduled to run my Ox route so So I got to sleep
- 17:46in because my start time for that's not till 9:00, I get a
- 17:50phone call at 8:20 asking, if I could come in and run our six,
- 17:54which is my primary POV route, and I was like it.
- 17:58All right, it was crappy out Thursday.
- 18:00It is super cold out. I'll be more than happy to run
- 18:03with that route in my POV and so I fill the car up with gas and
- 18:08take it in and get in there. And so is about 8:45 when I
- 18:12clocked in so 45 minutes. It's after start time and I'll
- 18:19get into that later on why they happened what happened there.
- 18:23So and then she proceeds to contact the other RCA the way
- 18:29you have left to run the aux route and by 9:15 had heard
- 18:35absolutely nothing. So I said, all right I'll take
- 18:37the Lov and run the double. I got back in six.
- 18:45I was out of the office by 10 and it only took me an hour and
- 18:4715 minutes to Case and load both routes.
- 18:51It was a somewhat light day but giving the 11 to 13 inches of
- 18:56snow, that we had dumped on us Thursday.
- 18:59And roads were not the greatest Friday.
- 19:02So and that's the 93 mile route post my Ox route.
- 19:05So yeah, it was about 6:00 when I finally got back and then had
- 19:09to go in and run the route that I haven't ran in a couple months
- 19:12because they had a new RCA on it.
- 19:14And nothing was plowed yesterday either.
- 19:17But the little bit more we got and we have another five to
- 19:21eight inches coming tomorrow. I'm jealous.
- 19:25I'm fine. Oh yeah.
- 19:27Oh yeah, you know. Yeah, my wife was just saying
- 19:32something the other day about with the whether it's loose.
- 19:36San Diego. For the first time, ever is
- 19:39calling from blizzard warnings. I saw that show that to my wife.
- 19:45She said, you know what, I'm even but we haven't had any
- 19:51snow. The mighty sleep once this
- 19:55winter for all five minutes. And literally five minutes
- 20:01Thursday. Yeah, she's like definitely nod
- 20:08to the day after tomorrow. That's all right, we're below.
- 20:12The want the fries line Thursday, on Route 3 which has
- 20:17u.s. 23 and some the side. None of the side roads, had been
- 20:23touched. I ended up bringing 146 boxes of
- 20:27140. Six boxes that I could not
- 20:29deliver Thursday, because I knew there was no way of getting down
- 20:32the plowed roads after you get a foot of snow dumped on you
- 20:35overnight and, and put it that way, Thursday, we didn't even
- 20:42our truck, which normally gets there about 7:15.
- 20:46So, you know how the post offices with we go with the
- 20:49lowest bid. Well, they went with the lowest
- 20:52bid on are plowing service and trust me, you get what you pay
- 20:56for Our semi driver got stuck pulling into the drive because
- 21:01it had not been plowed and it had been Wendy.
- 21:06Our front lot was plowed out our customer parking lot was plowed
- 21:09out, but our back to Lots were not.
- 21:12I walked through a snow drift through the back gate to get in.
- 21:17That was up mid thigh and I still wasn't a mall the way down
- 21:20it. Yeah.
- 21:24She literally by the time it got cleared out and she could
- 21:29actually move the truck because she couldn't she was just
- 21:31spinning tires. Trying to reverse it out because
- 21:33she's like, if I can get out of here, I'm not dropping your
- 21:35mail. She's like, this is bullshit.
- 21:37We're happy, we're out. There was sand bags and sand and
- 21:40salt and helping her shovel to try and get her to move before.
- 21:43Guy came over with the, the steer skid with the plow, on the
- 21:47front of it, to move the snow out.
- 21:49And it was about 840 by the time she got to the dock.
- 21:55And so it was actually about 10 o'clock by time, I started cake
- 22:009:30 9:45, when I start case in mail because Tim Who lives 15
- 22:09miles from the post office and the main road hadn't been
- 22:12plowed. Jack got stuck trying to come in
- 22:15and he finally got his plow truck going.
- 22:17And there was nobody else to run that route because that's my
- 22:22primary route. So she let me go pick him up
- 22:26since we're waiting anyway, so I took me an hour.
- 22:28Round trip to go get him and come back.
- 22:31So it was about well, So, I love those about 9:30.
- 22:37When I quarter 9:30, almost quarter, ten by ten, actually,
- 22:40start casing mail. I'll still out of the office by
- 22:4410:15. It was light, but yeah, it was
- 22:48a, it was a fun day Thursday, and I think tomorrow, maybe
- 22:52Tuesday will be a repeat, woohoo with that bows on Tuesday.
- 22:56That will be even more fun. Yeah, I think it was in with us
- 23:04all video of someone driving down what was supposed to be
- 23:08Interstate in Wisconsin. I thought where it was Dakotas.
- 23:17Either way, it was a single wing.
- 23:21Yeah, that's how a lot of my and it looks like that single wing
- 23:26was there because of traffic driving over it.
- 23:28Not because the flower, I had some fun towards the end of the
- 23:36POA yesterday. They said, the roads out there
- 23:39was just fluffy stuff so that helped.
- 23:41But I go to turn off the one side road onto the other side
- 23:45road on gravel roads and this section and I pretty much did a
- 23:48180. I was like whoo.
- 23:49That was fun. Friday, I only slid off the road
- 23:55twice, got myself out. Luckily once on the primary
- 23:59route and wants on my Ox route, and then talking to Tim
- 24:03yesterday goes, yeah, he goes, I saw her.
- 24:04I said, she see where I slid off at.
- 24:06He goes, you up and I went right in there, too.
- 24:08I said, dude, you're not supposed to follow my tracks
- 24:10like that you made them so he can bring the rail.
- 24:17Yeah, right into the ditch. He stuck the landing like I did
- 24:25likely get out. Yeah it was so what happened?
- 24:30Friday, I'll get this out of the way and we'll continue real
- 24:34quick. I know many, I'm a lot of us are
- 24:37smokers in the in the post office and Carrier, my buddy,
- 24:43Tim, I'll throw it out there. Hi, Tim, if you're listening,
- 24:46hey, doctor prescribed, him Chantix well, they pulled the
- 24:50name-brand off, but they still have the generic out there.
- 24:54Gave him Chantix to try and stop smoking.
- 24:56And so he'd been on into a second week of it and Friday.
- 25:05I don't know how he made it to work.
- 25:07Said it took him an hour to get to work because he drove around
- 25:11the This one area not knowing where he was going once he
- 25:16finally figured that out, he got to work.
- 25:18He couldn't form words, he could hardly speak.
- 25:23That's when the supervisor called me to come in and his
- 25:27daughter-in-law, and her mother took him to the doctors and what
- 25:30had happened. Is his brain, had had an
- 25:32allergic reaction to the Chantix and so, I've heard some success
- 25:39stories, and I've heard some ours.
- 25:41Stories. And that would be one of the
- 25:43horror stories. He you know he could think of
- 25:46the words but he couldn't say them, he couldn't he you know,
- 25:50and Didn't know where he was going and he they hooked him up
- 25:56onto to IV drips to help, clear it from his system.
- 26:01His body wasn't processing, it was collecting it.
- 26:06And so there was yeah, so there was a buildup and it affected
- 26:12his brain and he, so yeah, yeah, he was back to Saturday feeling
- 26:18a whole lot better and is no longer taking that.
- 26:21So but yeah, just a warning out there.
- 26:24People, not everybody can do the Chantix, and I was kind of
- 26:27thinking that might have been a reaction.
- 26:28He had, and he did call me that afternoon, while I was on the
- 26:32route after he had gotten back and took a nap and woke up and
- 26:35could actually speak again. To let me know what happens.
- 26:44Okay. A personal story and it affected
- 26:51me dramatically in the psychological sense.
- 26:55So the point one night, I heard a noise.
- 26:59I mop gun in hand and I almost shot my wife.
- 27:03Yeah, because I was so paranoid. I was having I don't, I don't
- 27:10dream. Okay, you could get very Vivid,
- 27:14but this was given me very, very psychotic.
- 27:19You know? Thoughts in my mind while I'm
- 27:21asleep and boy, I'll tell you what.
- 27:24And since then, when that happened, that I stop, that shit
- 27:27immediately II was I was worse than asshole.
- 27:30That I am now. Oh yeah, that is a friend or an
- 27:35acquaintance of mine in his wife.
- 27:38I was taking a quick came home. His wife is in the In the living
- 27:44room, or whatever room. It was on the floor in the fetal
- 27:48position, just rocking back and forth with a butcher knife in
- 27:51her hand. Yeah.
- 27:54No one knows. You know, she doesn't even know
- 27:57what the reasoning behind that was, but But yeah, it was, you
- 28:05know, I think I tried it very briefly and I just didn't like
- 28:09the way it felt and stop. So, Yeah.
- 28:16It's um, as you know just a warning out there people like I
- 28:19said, it works great for some others.
- 28:22Cannot do it. Yeah, he was telling me about
- 28:24some vivid dreams, he was having that he really enjoyed, but that
- 28:29night before things happened. He had a very nightmarish dream
- 28:34that was extremely Vivid and then the next day, you know, he
- 28:37gets up that morning and he can hardly speak.
- 28:40Can't form words can't, you know, didn't know where he was
- 28:44going. So, yeah.
- 28:46It's warnings out there. People, if you're going to quit,
- 28:48quit, cold turkey, I did that. Once I quit for eight years and
- 28:55then when Amazon came into my office, and I became a local
- 28:59Steward, and that was going on six years ago.
- 29:04Yeah, no, I haven't forgotten horror stories from anyone.
- 29:11That's tried Wellbutrin. But I don't really know too many
- 29:18people and I think the way we help you trying to wear with the
- 29:22sand textures, chicken quitting stopping before you start taking
- 29:26it and Wellbutrin, it actually decreases the craving fairer
- 29:32than the chances. That's what the Chantix was
- 29:34supposed to do too, is it makes you not want a cigarette?
- 29:39The Cravings makes it taste absolutely horrible, but it also
- 29:43affects your brain. And in other ways as well.
- 29:48He's also on another medication and she thinks that that
- 29:53medication was blocking his body from Bernard up like it was
- 29:57supposed to. So yep.
- 30:01No more. Chantix We're back to the
- 30:07postal. Mini mail survey?
- 30:09Yes, yes we are. That was my highlight of the
- 30:15week. So, back to where we were.
- 30:18I know, Mike, you want you tell us about this app that you got
- 30:22for her County? Well, step out there, somebody I
- 30:26saw on one of the rural carrier, Facebook groups, somebody
- 30:31recommended this app called count that now, And I shared a
- 30:37link to it on the in our Discord page.
- 30:40And I also, I also shared fate picture of how I set the buttons
- 30:50that you basically have several. Several ways you can set the
- 30:54buttons up. It's a very simple.
- 30:56You open it up and you have a plus, and a minus button.
- 30:59And I just said it out on my desk.
- 31:02And as I was casing, my mail Saturday, every time I came
- 31:06across Cross a upside down letter.
- 31:08I just tap the screen and added one.
- 31:11And it worked real slick so that I can't do math in my head is
- 31:20another issue. But, but anyway, so I tried it
- 31:28out. I assume there will be days next
- 31:30week where I'll be taking my DPS to the street and I'll have it
- 31:36open. It's got several features like
- 31:40you can have it so that Always up or, you know, always on, I
- 31:45think as how they said it. Let's see counter stuff.
- 31:52Yeah. So so you can play with the
- 31:55settings to have it. Have it the way you want it,
- 31:59whether or not you want sounds when you when you click on it,
- 32:04you can have it. So it reads the numbers out.
- 32:09Yeah, I have it set up so it just has the big plus button.
- 32:16And if you look at the picture, it just the basically the whole
- 32:20screen is the putt is the plus button.
- 32:22And then if you need to subtract something, the minus buttons a
- 32:25little smaller, as I was saying before the show, the only down
- 32:31side, I see to this thing right now and in, you can put several
- 32:36counters, I don't know how many you're if you're limited to how
- 32:39many to, if you're limited to any, but I guess I'm going to
- 32:45I'm going to try setting. Lineup for every day on the
- 32:47count on the survey. So I'll have the numbers in
- 32:51there but there's not a feature to zero it out.
- 32:55I mean, if you just wanted to write your number down and turn
- 32:59it in and then zero it out, I don't see a way to zero it out
- 33:02other than hitting the minus button until you get 20.
- 33:06Yeah, but but for what I did in the office, that worked pretty
- 33:12slick. And I'm sure I'll get a chance
- 33:17to test it out on the street next week.
- 33:21This quick, this coming week so we'll see how that goes.
- 33:24It's called count that now and then I'll post a picture of his
- 33:33screenshot and the name of the app that you can look for on the
- 33:38Facebook page and the the the icon for it and I thought Maybe
- 33:45it would be that way. But the icon for it is, you
- 33:49know, your basic ticket counter with, with, for ticks and then
- 33:52the number five. Number five, one cross the cut
- 33:56across it. So that's as out.
- 34:01So that was go through this here.
- 34:08There's the post. What was her name is?
- 34:11Shout out to sue. Coley is the person who posted
- 34:15that on the All carriers page on Facebook and I reached out to
- 34:21her and thanked her for posting that because I found that to be
- 34:24really, really useful. Perhaps I will download that
- 34:30probably this week and see how it goes instead of hunting for
- 34:35piece of paper and a pen, and a pen and trying to dig one out
- 34:38every time. You have to make a tick mark.
- 34:41Yeah, yes, tags. Right, at it.
- 34:46And then, as I'm going through my mail for each little bundle,
- 34:52I have in my hands as I'm casing it, I get 1 over 1.
- 34:58One one, one, one, two, three. You know, we gotta just until I
- 35:07finish that I only had 92, I only had 40
- 35:26pieces of mail that I brought back total ayat 93.
- 35:31Yeah, 27 or that was no mail or acceptable.
- 35:35A few forwards, a couple holds one mis-sent, one miss sort and
- 35:41like 90, boom. That was it?
- 35:48Let's see. Where's my sticky note?
- 35:52Yeah, I had a lot more than that.
- 35:56They had 25 3. M26 boob mm5 a and k-6 forward
- 36:03six you or for UTF 19 holds in a well 19 holds 23 with the
- 36:10premium forward. I had And then 152.
- 36:18Inversion upside down inverted. Yeah.
- 36:20So I had three Miss sequence that came later in the route.
- 36:25There were, there were so I delivered that, I just kept
- 36:26track but that was it for It was 92 inverted and I think it was
- 36:35three hours. Now, I got have a question on
- 36:40the bundle Flats if the first two are mine and the next 95 or
- 36:45another routes or other offices can I have them counted?
- 36:50Well well technically the bundle is counted to you.
- 36:55Yes. And then like that's a raw milk
- 36:58account for the rest. Yeah.
- 37:00Wasn't very around with the up on the top there in the way
- 37:07would have your route number or Digit route number.
- 37:13Mmm. Yeah.
- 37:14How I've seen mine. So so I was everything.
- 37:17I heard says that you get credit for everything in the bottle and
- 37:21then you get the time, you know, the trip to the 3M, to your
- 37:26throwback area, to throw it back.
- 37:29And then the carriers that it belongs, to will get a piece
- 37:32count for it, in their raw bail, when they get it, you know, the
- 37:36next day, the next day or the, whenever they get it.
- 37:41Now, here's a little sidebar. Has anybody looked at the new
- 37:44deck? I code g for work hours, on the
- 37:47holiday I have. I haven't ya?
- 37:51Good girl, it doesn't actually doesn't affect me, but yeah,
- 37:57well II know I'm not the brightest bulb in the Box.
- 38:01Okay, but the back of G will pay one day's evaluation as
- 38:05applicable employees using the DACA G will have their leave
- 38:09balance credited, one day of annual leave, but will not
- 38:12receive Holiday pay for the observed holiday.
- 38:16All right, hold on. What's your holiday?
- 38:20Pay people, the one waves. So you're not getting anything.
- 38:30But you're going to get the g code that you can use later on,
- 38:33but you're going to be missing your holiday pay, right?
- 38:37So instead of letting the holiday pay this check.
- 38:42Get an extra annual dating was later, but why would you give up
- 38:45your day's pay for a day's pay? And you're still working your
- 38:50holiday. It's like an R code.
- 38:53Yeah. Basically.
- 38:55But for the holiday, it's ridiculous.
- 39:00You're going to give me a day of leave but you're not going to
- 39:03pay me for the holiday. Yes.
- 39:08Alright, still get paid. But you're not getting paid for
- 39:15the holiday while working like the Saturday, okay, right.
- 39:21You're not saying you're not making any extra money for
- 39:23working that Saturday, you're just getting straight pay.
- 39:27All right, so you're just getting an extra leave day and
- 39:33giving up a day's pay for the next page, pay period.
- 39:37Okay, how did that make sense? Yeah, doesn't it?
- 39:40Oh yeah. I just, yeah, I'll be saying
- 39:52that they wanted the option of an angle.
- 40:10I'm freaking see if that's better.
- 40:16Today was the start of the many mail survey.
- 40:18Yes, hmm. I had a meeting with all the
- 40:21carriers almost all the carriers because one of them was
- 40:25dilly-dallying and didn't get to hear the first part but I was
- 40:28explaining to them what was being counted.
- 40:32And I have a pretty good voice where I can project and people
- 40:34can hear and everything. Yes, but everybody was gathered
- 40:37around the supervisor was there. This is the problem with our
- 40:42craft, okay? When I explain random Flats
- 40:46random letters and the pars label a carrier of 33 years
- 40:52says, what's a pars label? I looked at them and, and, and
- 41:01not even thinking of where I was at.
- 41:03I said, are you fucking kidding me?
- 41:07He goes, no, I don't know what a parts label is the supervisor
- 41:10held up the little white sticker and said this the change of
- 41:14address sticker, we give you. I never knew it was called a
- 41:17pars label, and I went off and I explained, I said, this is the
- 41:22problem with the people who aren't members, people who are
- 41:26members of the Union who don't pay attention to protecting
- 41:30their paycheck. I said with this many mail
- 41:35survey, if you have any questions, you go to the
- 41:37supervisor, it's a supervisor doesn't resolve it.
- 41:40You come to me or 10 Mac who's a Dr in our office.
- 41:43Okay, and we'll get it resolved, don't wait to the end of the
- 41:47survey and start filing a shitload of grievances, okay?
- 41:51Take care of it immediately and I purposely pointed out one
- 41:56carrier. I said you came to meet this
- 41:58morning with a bucket saying, there's no count tag on this.
- 42:02And I pulled the labels out of the sleeve and said, do you see
- 42:06this? And she says yes and I says it's
- 42:09a FSM 100. Correct G is yes, I said, the
- 42:11date is 225 2023. Correct, she goes.
- 42:15Yes, I said, you know what that means?
- 42:17And she goes, no, Twelve years and she didn't know that.
- 42:23That was an automated flat tub. Yeah.
- 42:27Well now, okay, later on that day, a text went out on the
- 42:33group to group tax asking about whether the mail were coming
- 42:37back to the office has to be counted.
- 42:40Another carrier responded. No I responded stopped answering
- 42:45people's questions. Who have not put any time into
- 42:47protecting their paychecks. It's been two years in the
- 42:50process. Learn.
- 42:51What is what everything you need to know, is on the website,
- 42:55Facebook, YouTube, rural internet and add podcast like
- 42:59United, We scan And then somebody goes asshole, which is
- 43:03a compliment to me. And then the guy who posted the
- 43:07question, said, asshole came over and purposely said, if you
- 43:10don't get a response from your supervisor come to Timber
- 43:13myself, don't wait until the count is over to to get your
- 43:16questions answered. So instead of answering him
- 43:19again on the chat, okay, I called them up.
- 43:21Nice is first of all, you said go to the supervisor.
- 43:24Did you go to the supervisor about this question?
- 43:26He goes, no, I said there's your first problem.
- 43:28I said second problem who's talking to you, he goes.
- 43:31Some asshole at, that's your second problem.
- 43:34What's your third problem? You have your kids and boy
- 43:38scouts soccer swimming this that the other thing and your life's
- 43:42dedicated to him and I understand people or busy, but
- 43:46everybody's on their phone. Everybody is on their tablet.
- 43:49Everybody's on their laptop. If you can't put 5 to 10 minutes
- 43:53a day into protecting your paycheck folks, don't ask me to
- 43:58be your daddy and hold your hand and answer every question at the
- 44:01Museum. Okay, you have a responsibility
- 44:04yourself. And if you don't take care of
- 44:08it, guess what? Your kids will suffer, they
- 44:12won't go to the Boy Scouts, they won't go to the swimming, they
- 44:14won't be able to go to soccer, because your paychecks going to
- 44:17be cut. And you can explain to them.
- 44:20Well I was so busy. I didn't have time to do this
- 44:23bullshit. Folks, take an interest in your
- 44:26living, take an interest in your friend and do something for
- 44:31yourself. That's my rant for tonight.
- 44:37No, but I have to agree. I'm an RCA and I know what a
- 44:40parcel label is. I've got, every time the
- 44:43question was asked to the postmaster yesterday, she turned
- 44:46around and looked at me for four.
- 44:48Or the proper for the proper answer, just to make sure she
- 44:54was on the right page. Of course, it didn't hurt that I
- 44:58had to explain to her what p.m. casing actually was.
- 45:00Because with our snow storm, she wanted to tell everybody, well
- 45:03the boxes you couldn't deliver when you get back and you get
- 45:06everything else. Put away go under p.m. casing to
- 45:08re case that up. And I'm like, no, no, no, that's
- 45:12end of shift, duties. Peeking out it's amazing.
- 45:17Hey, the one supervisor we had, she's sitting there, going, she
- 45:21goes, I can't take this. She goes, you know, this is just
- 45:24too much. I said, it's the first day.
- 45:28And she goes, yes, but I'll have to work 12 hours.
- 45:30That's all my God. I never worked 12 hours of my
- 45:33life before. Oh my god.
- 45:34Oh no, that's terrible. You know.
- 45:38And it's so much easier than past counts.
- 45:42I have been. Oh my God.
- 45:45I know I'm not having to wait for my Parcels.
- 45:48I'm not having to wait, you know, it's because it's simple.
- 45:53Yeah. Together, you can case your DPS,
- 46:13if you case it everybody in my office, except for one person
- 46:17takes it to the street, you know, you can be loading your
- 46:20vehicle with packages, you've already marked or whatever, you
- 46:24know. There's, you can just continue
- 46:26working instead of having to sit and wait for every little thing.
- 46:30You know, I remember having to wait to go load because they
- 46:34only had so many stopwatches and they're already being used.
- 46:37You had wait till somebody came back in to say, okay, I'm going
- 46:40to load, so they could start your stopwatch or coming back in
- 46:44and waiting for supervisor to walk their ass over to the
- 46:50return mail dump, so they could count it out.
- 46:53I mean, it's so much easier than what it's been in the past.
- 46:57Yep. Yep, yep.
- 46:59Like I said, being an artist and being an RCA and I have been
- 47:03throughout gosh three at least three male counts my old office.
- 47:07is so, Remember when we did our first meal count with Benjamin
- 47:14Franklin you know you're just old but it's all good.
- 47:23Yeah I can remember the last September mandatory.
- 47:28I never went through a mandatory September so well, neither did I
- 47:33but you're right. Kristen that not having to wait
- 47:35for a supervisor with a stopwatch is so much nicer.
- 47:39Oh my God. And I just, and I just Found
- 47:42that, you know, I'm going to the hot case.
- 47:46Okay, no no wait wait wait got to get know.
- 47:49Now from there. You step up, step up a little
- 47:51more step. Okay, there now go.
- 47:54Yeah, no measurements being counted for where you stand in
- 48:00the case and that the edge of the outside of the case, you
- 48:03know, the lady of it. Yeah, I mean, there are many
- 48:07things that work more to our advantage on this, the actual
- 48:11Time for end of shift, your actual loading time you're you
- 48:16know that stuff is beneficial to us in many many ways and the
- 48:21elimination of the 50-foot rule, which I argued against Venom
- 48:25Italy every years. Yeah yeah.
- 48:30Yep. Why am I giving you 50 feet?
- 48:34Yeah. So it's, you know, it's
- 48:36definitely a lot easier and much more simple for this and we
- 48:42were, you know, we were all saying even the postmasters like
- 48:44this is so much nicer and I'm like, yes, yes it is.
- 48:48You always still had that one carrier where we had to explain
- 48:51it in detail three or four times before she finally.
- 48:55Okay, but you know, every office has at least one of those.
- 48:58So Yeah, I don't overthink it people.
- 49:04I think that's a lot of people that are so used to the old male
- 49:07count ways and so their way overthinking it and you know,
- 49:11like Bill and all of us have said in the past the information
- 49:16is out there. Like you know most direct place
- 49:19is the Union website. You don't have access to it.
- 49:23Rural info has majority of it available to you.
- 49:29We Have it, YouTube. Everything pertaining to Rex is
- 49:35available to you there. I may I think I've put a quite a
- 49:39bit of it in the Facebook group as well, if you're not a member
- 49:44that feel free to join, it is kind of quiet over there, but
- 49:47again, I'm an RCA who basically holds down my office and keeps
- 49:54it running. So on that note, yeah.
- 50:00It's yeah, it's funny because the discussion came up about
- 50:06this new Mini mail survey and why they went to this, nice of
- 50:09all the post office will tell you it's for you know efficiency
- 50:13and this and that and everything.
- 50:14I said it's because they got Dumber supervisors.
- 50:17So they had to make it easier for them to be able to do it and
- 50:22they said, no, you can't say that.
- 50:23I said okay, I won't say it again and then I said it again.
- 50:28Yeah. It's and it you know and with
- 50:33the mou extension for another six weeks, Carrie regular one.
- 50:38Yeah, excuse me months, a little tired.
- 50:41Um, you know, I'm mixed on it for, you know, in my scenario.
- 50:51Yeah, it does help me out on certain days were, you know, one
- 50:55of those smaller routes if it's not there, Jay day.
- 50:58You know, and we don't have somebody to cover my Ox route
- 51:02and I'm running a bigger route, you know, the volunteer to take
- 51:06it. So that kind of helps me in that
- 51:07aspect, but in the same aspect of it, it's also it's still that
- 51:13Band-Aid for being short staffed.
- 51:17And, you know, I know in my office I mean, we've done the
- 51:21job fairs. You know, we were doing them
- 51:24almost weekly there for probably four to six weeks postings are
- 51:30up continuously with, there's nobody in the pipeline.
- 51:33I thought I had last heard that we have somebody.
- 51:36It was supposed to be going for fingerprinting.
- 51:38That was over a month ago. So yeah.
- 51:42Now we're back down to myself and One of the newer ones.
- 51:49So yeah, I don't know I mean it's sad that good help is hard
- 51:56to find anymore? Yep it really is.
- 51:59Well that's not even good. Just help.
- 52:02Well I'm going to say Good Help At this point.
- 52:05Yeah, bodies. I mean I get having a body but
- 52:09sometimes having a body is more of a bird worse than yes, you
- 52:17know, when you have such Hopes for a specific individual and
- 52:23it's no matter. You know, they may run their
- 52:26primary Route 5 days in a row, but every time they come in, and
- 52:29I'm going to use this analogy and I've been using it for a
- 52:32while, it's like 50 First Dates for them.
- 52:36It's like day one. All over every day that they
- 52:39come in on the same route and it's like Groundhog Day for me,
- 52:44because I'm having to come in and run whatever Road I'm
- 52:46running +, at least half of the other route.
- 52:50And it's hard, I mean, I did let, the, I did love know.
- 52:55I said, dude, it's just me. And, you know, I said, you got
- 52:57to focus, whatever you got to do to focus, please, please do it,
- 53:01because it's just me and you At this moment in time.
- 53:09So yeah, it's going to be interesting but I told my
- 53:12supervisor I said those six leave requests I have which were
- 53:16all approved. By the way, I said, only two of
- 53:18those are personal. It says, long as I get my time.
- 53:22You know, honestly, I don't care at this point.
- 53:24If I have to run doubles work, six days a week and then it get
- 53:28that time off. I do have a next one next
- 53:31weekend off. I'm off Friday through Sunday,
- 53:34and that's a personal weekend for me, the following weekend,
- 53:38I'm off Friday through Sunday. That is our state spring
- 53:42booster. So I don't necessarily put that
- 53:46as actually being off, but I won't be in the office.
- 53:49And then I don't have time again until May for mid states.
- 53:55Yep. Which my issue that I had that I
- 53:57talked to Mike with has been resolved so we're good there.
- 54:04I will see you there. Yes I will be getting thought I
- 54:11was just getting back to the mou.
- 54:13I'm really kind of mixed feelings on it because I will
- 54:17not I won't talk. I won't I can't find the word.
- 54:26I won't get down at any regular who wants to help?
- 54:28I'm not that far removed from being an RCA that I don't
- 54:31remember that. I don't that, I do remember the
- 54:35the 12-hour days. The yeah, the were down five
- 54:39routes and there's three of us. You know, and we had a tight
- 54:45team and my office. There were there were about five
- 54:48or six of us. And we were tight and we knew
- 54:53each other's strengths and weaknesses and yeah if we could
- 54:56get the we could get the job done.
- 54:59So II, don't if a regular wants to help, I've got no I don't
- 55:04have a problem with it, the rate of pay and all that aside, you
- 55:10know, people say, oh, we should make it double time.
- 55:12Just the whole point of it is as long as we have regulars who are
- 55:16helping. I feel that it did.
- 55:19When one man's opinion. That is long as that's
- 55:24happening. The post office doesn't have an
- 55:26incentive to hire RCA's and I'm going to bring up what was
- 55:31mentioned. So yeah.
- 55:34So yeah, I kind of, I moved mixed feelings, you know.
- 55:38So we'll just leave it there Josh and I had kind of talked
- 55:41about this The phone call Corey Waltons, 8 arbitration the city
- 55:48Side podcast, might care if I come on and he was talking about
- 55:52because the city side is just gone into contract.
- 55:54Negotiations, and he brought up our section.
- 55:58In our, in the rural carrier contract that says, you know,
- 56:02regulars not having to work anything outside of their
- 56:05assigned. Route and he really, you know,
- 56:09they would like to see that on the city side.
- 56:12And I'm, you know, I'm cutting it down because I don't have the
- 56:15article number in front of me but and you know, that's, you
- 56:20know, that's something they would like to see on the city
- 56:22Side as well, but with the fact that we've had this mou on a
- 56:26couple different occasions for six months to a year at a time,
- 56:31you know that puts us at the verge of possibly losing that
- 56:36and I can't Track negotiation. Yeah with.
- 56:40So, you know, think about that people, if they're going to keep
- 56:43renewing, this mou that opens it up for losing that protection in
- 56:48the contract during contract. Negotiations.
- 56:52Think about that with the board members that you have sitting up
- 56:55there that will be negotiating. The contract next year, that's
- 56:59going to be the board members that you put in place this
- 57:03August. That will be, you know,
- 57:05negotiating that next contract. And, you know, like I said that,
- 57:12that opens it up. It may not be on the resolution
- 57:14with wish list, but the fact that we've had this mou for good
- 57:19amount of time in a couple different occasions, you know,
- 57:23that own sense that door for USPS to say, well, if you want
- 57:26this, we can take that, you know, we're going to take this
- 57:29protection away from you. Because we've had Mo use this
- 57:33whole time allowed. Allowing them to work other
- 57:35stuff. So yeah about that.
- 57:37That that goes take the volunteer away from that and
- 57:41open it up to saying, to me, mandated and yes, yep.
- 57:48And an office like mine article. We have where we have Bunches of
- 57:55speed demons. Who, you know, they come in,
- 57:57they come in at 8:00. And they're done by one.
- 58:02Yeah, I've got a couple of and and when the first time the
- 58:07first time we had the mou during covid and it you know, clearly
- 58:12said voluntary and they turned around 25 regulars.
- 58:16The first five back and said you're mandated and they said no
- 58:19they didn't even bother with this follow directions and
- 58:23relieve later. They just absolutely refused.
- 58:26So that's we can volunteer and I don't volunteer you can't man.
- 58:30And it actually I believe the ADR back them up.
- 58:34This said, yeah, you know what? So and then they did they did it
- 58:42with a couple of just converted from RCA to regular and they
- 58:47didn't know any better. So they took oh we got to do.
- 58:49It is like no and then I explained later it's like, no,
- 58:52you don't have to your regular carrier.
- 58:54Now you could if you're not volunteering you can say no to
- 58:57that. Oh, we didn't know but now you
- 59:00do so well. Yeah.
- 59:02Like in my office, even if we have a couple of regulars that
- 59:06volunteer, oh, they might manage.
- 59:09Schmidt has asked the poem If it's okay first.
- 59:14Everything goes back to getting permission from the poom before
- 59:17they say. Yeah, you can go help or no you
- 59:20can't. okay, that was Article Thirty point one point p and the
- 59:28actual verbiage is It's p is other world or I'm sorry?
- 59:36Other route assignments, a regular rural carrier shall not
- 59:41be required to serve all or part of any rural route other than
- 59:47his or her assigned route except on brr.
- 59:52On providing in Elm section 546. Elm Section 5 4 6 talks about
- 1:00:03Limited in like Judy's. Yep and there's the claws of
- 1:00:09emergency situation as well but in an emergency situation is
- 1:00:14happening. Short-staffed my article Thirty
- 1:00:20point one point. P says, no way Jose
- 1:00:47but no, but I want, you know, I want people out there to think
- 1:00:49about that, you know, the extent.
- 1:00:51This mou in the fact that it's not the first time we've had
- 1:00:54this mou. And it's not the first time
- 1:00:56we've extended this mou over the last three years, this really
- 1:01:01opens the door for USPS to be in a position to say, well, hey, if
- 1:01:05you want this guess what, because you've had these Mo use,
- 1:01:10well, how about we take this away?
- 1:01:12Because, you know, they want to say, oh, there's nothing left to
- 1:01:15give up. Yeah, people there is then that
- 1:01:18is one of them. Especially, you know this this
- 1:01:21mou opens that up and imagine on Madsen up there trying to argue
- 1:01:26against it. No, yeah.
- 1:01:32I just put a screen shot, that was Wrong screen.
- 1:01:38That was a. Yeah, that's not what we wanted.
- 1:01:41A step for. That was the wrong thing, but
- 1:01:44I'll get back to doing 1984. Yeah, you know what you think
- 1:01:49about that. Inquiring about their postmaster
- 1:01:59at asked about. Requiring them to work, we're no
- 1:02:06requiring them to work after this expired.
- 1:02:18Are we going then? Poster in the contract Zoom
- 1:02:21meeting series. We need to ask if USPS can use
- 1:02:23this mou against us. Yeah, they, I mean, we don't
- 1:02:26even need to ask they can. Well, during the zoo meeting,
- 1:02:31it'll probably be a done deal. It'll be in the contract and
- 1:02:35this is something that you know, it won't say.
- 1:02:37I won't be a thing that would need to be brought up on the
- 1:02:40floor at convention. I want I want to see, I want to
- 1:02:46see somebody and if I get to be a delegate, you know, I'll get
- 1:02:53up there on the mic. Lord knows.
- 1:02:54I got up on the mic and ran in front of everybody for vice
- 1:02:57president. I think I'm pretty confident to
- 1:02:59get up on the mic and ask a question like this because
- 1:03:02honestly I see it as a fact that we've had this mou and a couple
- 1:03:06different occasions. It's been extended out on a few
- 1:03:09occasions that opens the door for USPS.
- 1:03:13Is to say, well why do we still need this in here?
- 1:03:15If you're wanting to wait, you know, wanting this, you know,
- 1:03:19it's that whole give or take scenario, they keep talking
- 1:03:22about well how about we give up this language?
- 1:03:26Because while you've been working under this mou for a
- 1:03:29year and a half now? Yeah and it don't get me wrong,
- 1:03:33I didn't mind it during covid because, you know, we it seemed
- 1:03:37to me to be a good idea then. But now it's just your your It's
- 1:03:44their inability to hire or refusal to hire, which is, which
- 1:03:50is causing the problems right now and then the ability in
- 1:03:53ability to retain once they do hire.
- 1:03:56Yes. Yes.
- 1:03:57And you know, I'm sorry, this fast-track hiring some offices
- 1:04:02still management pulls people in for a little one-on-one before,
- 1:04:06whatever my manager does not. So you don't know what's walking
- 1:04:10in that door. Until they get there and then,
- 1:04:15you know, you get, you know, and I'm going to be honest garbage
- 1:04:21in garbage out, right? Yes.
- 1:04:23If you say you are a retiree looking for a part-time job to
- 1:04:27do on the weekends or a few days a week.
- 1:04:29This is not the job for you. Yeah.
- 1:04:31Go to McDonald's. Come here.
- 1:04:34This is not the job for you. Yeah.
- 1:04:39And you know that was our RCA that quit was Was was our older
- 1:04:43gentleman. Retiree he, you know, was
- 1:04:47looking just for so that you know, he didn't need the job.
- 1:04:49It was just that little extra income, you know, he's plans on
- 1:04:53moving down south where it's warm after her.
- 1:04:56His mother's time on Earth is done and They just he wore
- 1:05:02himself out that one down, he was back with an evaluation for
- 1:05:05the first time. He was back at a really great
- 1:05:07time Friday, but he wore himself out.
- 1:05:09The weather was crap. We had all that snow but he just
- 1:05:14be all like I say. I got that, you know,
- 1:05:16notification at 6:15 Saturday morning say nope.
- 1:05:19You're on this route now. So I mean which is fine.
- 1:05:23It's one of the 42 J routes. I was done by 3:00, I didn't
- 1:05:27care. But yeah, it's kind of a
- 1:05:30corollary to that. On the mou, the other thing
- 1:05:34where they they were pushing, oh this is such a great thing that
- 1:05:37we're making, you know, if they fail to hire off so many hiring
- 1:05:42list that they make 10% of the office.
- 1:05:44Pts. Mmm.
- 1:05:46Now I'm all I'm all good about advancing people to Career
- 1:05:50carrier. But it still leaves you in this,
- 1:05:54but I was like that. Still leaves you in the same
- 1:05:57boat, they don't know. Okay, you've just made.
- 1:06:00Okay, so now you're paying more pay and benefits these people.
- 1:06:04But look at look at my office, okay?
- 1:06:06We're at we're at 10%, actually a little more, we have 6 pts, we
- 1:06:13have 50 routes, we have 6 pts, you only have five RCA's that
- 1:06:18still leaves us, you know that's 11, leave replacements. 450
- 1:06:23routes. Yep.
- 1:06:25And I'm sure they're going to argue.
- 1:06:26Well, if all six if all 6 pts have five route strings, then
- 1:06:32you have 30 routes covered like but that still only 11 people
- 1:06:37who can have off on any given day.
- 1:06:40Yep. Android and I think what one of
- 1:06:43the other regulars was telling me is that our level of
- 1:06:46replacement is below what they can do on the formula.
- 1:06:51So they actually have to Hiring because we it's like we don't
- 1:06:57have enough leave Replacements to actually do the formula
- 1:07:00properly. Right?
- 1:07:04Because of the fact that they are required to have more
- 1:07:08Saturday relief and on any other day.
- 1:07:12Yeah, that's the point. We're at.
- 1:07:14Yep. Yeah.
- 1:07:15Because you're not even at a 50% compliment, you know.
- 1:07:18Nope. Here barely.
- 1:07:19Twenty five percent and yep that but yeah.
- 1:07:23And like I said, in my office. Yeah.
- 1:07:26Yeah. We only have six rural routes in
- 1:07:28an AUX route. And I am the only one in the
- 1:07:33office that can run every single route.
- 1:07:38And we have 2 J routes 4K routes, to of which have Mondays
- 1:07:44and 2A, which have Saturday K days.
- 1:07:48Yeah, that, I mean, that leaves. Yeah, not a lot and yeah, it's
- 1:08:02It went with one are CA who still has yet to finish their
- 1:08:05one primary route? More than halfway through it and
- 1:08:10eight hours. I yeah, I don't have any lack
- 1:08:15for hours, that's for sure. Nope, I bet you don't and I
- 1:08:20remember those days and I you know, but at the same time I was
- 1:08:24the only RCA through. I tried from from just Shia,
- 1:08:28Thanksgiving all the way up till you know, the first part of
- 1:08:32January, when I started training, the new guys, I was
- 1:08:34at, I was the only one covering everything running to route
- 1:08:40today. Most of the time unless it was a
- 1:08:42lighter day. And you know one of the other
- 1:08:44guys and it wasn't there. J or k day took the aux route
- 1:08:49for me. You know, I was running
- 1:08:51Christmas level delivery run into routes a day working 60
- 1:08:55hours a week. I still haven't worked anything
- 1:08:57less than 45 to 50 hours a week since And yeah, it's it's hard
- 1:09:06and that's why I just said, you know, I didn't get my vacation
- 1:09:08in last year and I said, as long as I get this time off that I've
- 1:09:11requested at this point, I really don't care.
- 1:09:18It's it, it's sad. It's, you know, it's burning us
- 1:09:22out. It's yep.
- 1:09:24And then, unfortunately, you know, and I'm going to say, I
- 1:09:27see a lot of the New Orleans that leave because they are
- 1:09:31overworked, but in there are some of us that are probably
- 1:09:34just going for punishment. Um, That, you know, eight years
- 1:09:40and counting. I'm not a regular yet and maybe
- 1:09:44I'm just that glutton for punishment, you know what I
- 1:09:47mean? And yeah, I have no problem.
- 1:09:50Yeah. So the possibility of being, you
- 1:09:52know, a regular probably just as National starting or shortly
- 1:09:59after National Convention, if she actually does go.
- 1:10:04When she first plans to go, So, but then I'm still gonna be
- 1:10:10working six days a week because there won't be any relief.
- 1:10:16Although the only relief made Regular.
- 1:10:18Well, yeah, but getting back to that Chris and I think it's in
- 1:10:23the job. Job job description is to work
- 1:10:27yourself to the Bone and love it.
- 1:10:31I mean, there were date, I mean when you figure in my commute,
- 1:10:35you know, people think I'm crazy.
- 1:10:39But when I transferred down here, the reason I picked the
- 1:10:43offices Literally, because they were the only one who answered
- 1:10:46the phone when I was calling around trying to find an office
- 1:10:49that would take me as a transfer.
- 1:10:53So and I did question, I actually had a supervisor who
- 1:10:58didn't think I was going to make it as I live, I'll figure this
- 1:11:02out, you know, I just got to adapt to the higher volume more
- 1:11:07Parcels FSS, I'll figure it out and after I got through my first
- 1:11:12Christmas, I figured it out. But I came closer and that's
- 1:11:17what he began drinking. Yeah well I drank anyway, you
- 1:11:23know Friday before the Friday after Christmas are five
- 1:11:27Christmas Fight. Friday after Thanksgiving.
- 1:11:30I almost quit their that well days where I've won.
- 1:11:34I mean well but when well the Wednesday before Thanksgiving
- 1:11:40when they left me out, when all the RCA's went home, somebody
- 1:11:43called me and said, hey do you need Need help and I said yeah,
- 1:11:46I could use some help and, you know an hour later.
- 1:11:49The PM is calling me saying where why are you still on the
- 1:11:52street? I said, because I still got mail
- 1:11:55to deliver somebody called me a while ago and asked if I needed
- 1:11:58help and no one's come, Yep, and then then the Friday after
- 1:12:06Thanksgiving. It was on the other route, they
- 1:12:09trained me on and it was 10:30. I had I still had a row and a
- 1:12:17half to go. I had some Miss Parcels in the
- 1:12:19back and my llv broke out, and I called him up said, hey, the Lov
- 1:12:26won't start said, okay, we'll get everything.
- 1:12:28So as the rest of the RCA Steve, send it on me.
- 1:12:32It was like watching a play swarm of locusts, you know?
- 1:12:36Here comes the calvary. Yeah.
- 1:12:39Remember those days is a newer RCA and and you know, a truck
- 1:12:43out. Yep.
- 1:12:44Yeah. Empty, the truck out left the
- 1:12:46keys on the tire. When the other RCA's drove me
- 1:12:49back to the office and the two-ton.
- 1:12:52And I was like, I'm I don't know, I don't know if I can do
- 1:12:56this anymore and I walked in. They said, well just get another
- 1:12:59vehicle because you got to go out and help a regular who's
- 1:13:02behind. And, and I was like, I, I don't
- 1:13:07know. I I got hole and that was, you
- 1:13:10know, and then I got done at 11:30.
- 1:13:13I was home at 12:30, and I was up at for the next morning to go
- 1:13:18to my next shift, but then I was just running part and then and
- 1:13:21then it was just running Parcels because it was Saturday.
- 1:13:25Starting to pay period, we're in parcel delivery mode.
- 1:13:27All the RCA's are all the regulars are working.
- 1:13:31All the RCA's and running parcels and that and running
- 1:13:34Parcels. I got to get the layout of the
- 1:13:36Town better. I saw where routes intersected,
- 1:13:39I saw how things and then when I came back after Christmas I
- 1:13:43started get it started really started.
- 1:13:45Click it. So yeah that was you know, as
- 1:13:48being a transfer as well in my you know, my reasons, we're
- 1:13:53transferring you know a little different but you know I didn't
- 1:13:57know this town. I you know for six months I've
- 1:13:59been coming over every other Other weekend to visit my
- 1:14:02boyfriend and I knew how to get to his house and that was about
- 1:14:06it. And yeah it was so there was a
- 1:14:10little different learning the routes because I didn't know
- 1:14:13where the hell I was at and now II know it all really well, you
- 1:14:18know, it's I freaked out my daughter's cheerleading team,
- 1:14:23we're all having dinner after competition a couple weeks ago
- 1:14:27and my daughters, like my mom knows where everybody lives.
- 1:14:31One girls like, well, do you know where I live?
- 1:14:33She's like, I'm up behind. She mentioned this bar and I was
- 1:14:35like, so, the street and she's like, no, and she gave me the
- 1:14:38street number, and I looked at her, and I rambled off her
- 1:14:41street number. And she's like, I'm like out by
- 1:14:45now, we're here at just because I connected her last name, but
- 1:14:50yeah, it's yeah, if you don't know, it's hard as you get
- 1:14:57going, but once you get the area down and then, you know, it And
- 1:15:01that was the thing is, you know, having only six routes in that
- 1:15:04office, it was only this last this last summer, that I
- 1:15:08actually learned that last row. And I had ran at once before,
- 1:15:14like three weeks. After I transferred in, I had to
- 1:15:16take it out on the day after Columbus Day.
- 1:15:19Blind DPS, didn't show up until noon that day.
- 1:15:27They called us all back to the office to pick up the DPS.
- 1:15:31I had just gotten out of the office at 11:15 was only 20
- 1:15:35minutes into the route when I got called back and there was 12
- 1:15:40trays of DPS waiting for me. And he'll say the postmaster we
- 1:15:46had at the time. She's like because I had pulled
- 1:15:50down for the llv and not my car. I pulled down into the big
- 1:15:54plastic trays and not the tubs for my car.
- 1:15:57So what we ended up doing because we were running so far
- 1:16:00behind as she took the Lll, be with the flats and parcels and I
- 1:16:03took the tool trays of DPS in my car and we leapfrogged each
- 1:16:07other until 7:00 that night when she called it and said, all
- 1:16:11right, let's go back. We're done, isn't it funny how
- 1:16:17they quit before we do? Yeah, I got to say my absolute
- 1:16:24worst day was probably the day after Columbus Day.
- 1:16:27That's where he just went through like within a month at
- 1:16:34most. They had just squared up routes
- 1:16:40my regular which was shortly after we got FSS.
- 1:16:45And as I mentioned at that point in time, Environmental Education
- 1:16:48yet Aw. my rep, my primary, he kept a small subdivision That
- 1:17:01was only maybe 60 boxes, the rest of his out, the rest of the
- 1:17:07route was brand-new. So at you went down to a j,
- 1:17:11route from a k. So I only ran it one, maybe two
- 1:17:15timers with the new stuff and then I ended up having to take
- 1:17:19half of another route to the street.
- 1:17:23It was probably 10:30 at night before I saw the first person to
- 1:17:29come help me. Wow.
- 1:17:31I think the latest I've ever been out though.
- 1:17:33It's been about eight eight-thirty and that was at my
- 1:17:36old on. I don't think I actually got
- 1:17:39back to the station until after midnight that night and that was
- 1:17:42with three other RCA's coming and taking a whole bunch of
- 1:17:45mail. Yeah, it's makes it interesting.
- 1:17:53But I think we're going to wind down for tonight because we've
- 1:17:56already been going for an hour and 17 minutes.
- 1:18:00So Mike final words, final comments, final inspiration.
- 1:18:07Um, it just if you haven't educated yourself on this our
- 1:18:15Trek system, please build bills talked about it, take 5 minutes,
- 1:18:18take a few minutes to to look at resources that are out there.
- 1:18:23Out there whether you're in the NRL CA or not.
- 1:18:29I'm going to I'm going to steal Bill Thunder, you know, it's
- 1:18:32only your paycheck and I've said, for a long, I've sent for
- 1:18:35a long time that no one should care more about your paycheck
- 1:18:38than you. So, have have some care about
- 1:18:42your paycheck, this this, what we're going through for the
- 1:18:47next. For the rest of this pay period
- 1:18:49is not Is not anything like counts.
- 1:18:53We've had in the past. So the Management's not fighting
- 1:19:00us on stuff like like they used to and a lot of times if you
- 1:19:04bring numbers back from the street they're going to they're
- 1:19:07going to take it. So don't fudge it.
- 1:19:11Play it straight and they'll as long as you're not asking for
- 1:19:14something outrageous, they should give it to you.
- 1:19:16So, hang in there, we'll get through this and then we'll
- 1:19:20About in a couple of weeks or months will hear about the the
- 1:19:25stories about what's happened with the when it's all comes
- 1:19:28together. Josh.
- 1:19:35Just similar sentiments is what Mike said.
- 1:19:39I know in the zoom, the in-person training and the
- 1:19:45couple is in the dinners that I did with them to for my district
- 1:19:50on the Dr. Said that management has been instructed.
- 1:19:55By headquarters in District do not argue with the carriers that
- 1:20:01it's not even you know this is not enough.
- 1:20:09To make a difference. You know, one day down, one more
- 1:20:18to go and if things are going like they did Saturday, it'll
- 1:20:24just get smoother. But it wasn't that bad like
- 1:20:30Christian said earlier, you know, it's nice.
- 1:20:33It was nice, not having to wait for.
- 1:20:36Any part of your mail to get counted so you can start casing.
- 1:20:39It was nice. Not having to wait for a timer
- 1:20:42to time you to go load your truck.
- 1:20:45Not it was nice. Not having to sit and wait in
- 1:20:47line in front of 1510 carriers, who need to get their mail
- 1:20:52count, their mail counted, when you come back, Like I say every
- 1:20:59week. Don't get overwhelmed.
- 1:21:01If you do take a step back, take a deep breath.
- 1:21:05And step back in there. Everyone have a good week.
- 1:21:11We'll see you next week. Yeah, your turn.
- 1:21:16Well, no boats. I'll reiterate, you know what?
- 1:21:21You put in the scanner goes into your paycheck, okay.
- 1:21:24It goes into your wallet. The only way to get paid for it
- 1:21:28is to do it. So please, you know, for the
- 1:21:32sake of your income, your family, your budget, anything
- 1:21:38else that you have in mind in regards to how you run your
- 1:21:42household if you don't do it, nobody will and Don't do it.
- 1:21:47You're not going to get paid for it.
- 1:21:49So, folks. Yeah, do your job.
- 1:21:52Do what you're supposed to do? Do it when you're supposed to do
- 1:21:55it and, you know, this will be over shortly.
- 1:21:58You'll get the new evaluation. They'll be tracking you for the
- 1:22:01next six months. Blah, blah, blah.
- 1:22:04This is just a sampling. So don't get all stressed out by
- 1:22:08it, okay? Be careful out there.
- 1:22:12They attention what you're doing on the road.
- 1:22:14Watch for kids and dogs and other car.
- 1:22:16Cars and everybody else, you know, don't get stressed closet
- 1:22:21because at the end of the day, you're the most important
- 1:22:24delivery get home to your loved ones.
- 1:22:26And don't worry about the post office will be there tomorrow
- 1:22:29with or without you and take it from someone who's a short timer
- 1:22:34and can walk out of the office every day and say I'm done I
- 1:22:38don't because I still have the people there to protect, that's
- 1:22:41my duty my responsibility and I take that seriously, you know?
- 1:22:46The people, you know that I like for people, I love and even for
- 1:22:50the people, I don't like, I put my ass out there for them every
- 1:22:54day because that's my responsibility.
- 1:23:00Absolutely and RCA's out there. This is your paycheck to.
- 1:23:05We run all those routes we want, you know, like ice.
- 1:23:10Like I've said in the past if you're one of those RCA's that
- 1:23:14doesn't get 40 hours a week that evaluation is your paycheck for
- 1:23:19those routes that you run. And I always say that because
- 1:23:24after 40 hours a week, we go on over time and that's just what
- 1:23:27my paycheck looks like a Any more on a regular basis, even
- 1:23:30though I'm an assigned, a 17-hour we Cox route.
- 1:23:36It's, you know, take a minute if you're a newer RCA and you're
- 1:23:41like, I don't know what all this stuff is.
- 1:23:43I just do. I have to clock in clock out,
- 1:23:46depart to unit returned, to unit start loading load, look at
- 1:23:50those other scans and, you know, that trip to door when you have
- 1:23:54to go to that door more than once to deliver Parcels.
- 1:23:58The unscannable A parcel business close-hold mail.
- 1:24:01If you got piece count of eight or more, that's an unscannable
- 1:24:04parcel, or Parcels. I don't have scans on them for
- 1:24:08whatever reason, or not, whether it's metered or the barcodes
- 1:24:11destroyed or whatever, you know, look at those extra ones, you
- 1:24:16know, if you're stop me, you're talking to a customer about, you
- 1:24:19know, they're asking a postal off postal questions.
- 1:24:22That's a rural region. My opinion.
- 1:24:26You know, there are those other scans in there that definitely
- 1:24:28make A difference again. My favorite 12.
- 1:24:33Forget about is postage due. We have quite a few of those in
- 1:24:36our office and that's the one I tend to forget about the most
- 1:24:39Advil is, is coming up, Tuesday. You're ripe, plums, em.
- 1:24:42Sparks whatever you call them, whatever you get that we not
- 1:24:47every day. Yeah, you know, that's a box
- 1:24:50holder. That's a flat.
- 1:24:52You know, put the make sure, you know the routes are getting
- 1:24:55right? If it's a dress, it's a wfx.
- 1:24:58Yes, it is. If you've got more than one in a
- 1:25:01day, put them both in there. You know, make sure that, you
- 1:25:06know, check those extra ones out and find out what they're for.
- 1:25:10I make sure all my new RCA's that come in.
- 1:25:13I give them the wreck sync. Tivity scan guide, each one of
- 1:25:17them gets a new one here. This is yours.
- 1:25:19Read it. If you have any other questions
- 1:25:21I used to have / notes of the cheap pamphlet print out for
- 1:25:28what. All the wreck scans were.
- 1:25:29And when that first First got implemented, and I gave that to
- 1:25:32the newbies, you know, ask for that stuff and maybe somebody in
- 1:25:35your office does or again, in RLC a website, has it all as
- 1:25:39well, as roll info, United, We scan, you know, if you don't
- 1:25:44have it, you don't see something that's listed, you can message
- 1:25:47us. You can email us jumping on her
- 1:25:49Discord to be more than happy to point you in the right
- 1:25:52direction. If you need it.
- 1:25:54I, you know, I am very passionate about this job.
- 1:25:57It's one of the few things I've been this passionate about Out
- 1:26:00as we you know all of us on here are and that's why we do this is
- 1:26:05to help educate you. Yes we have her bitch sessions
- 1:26:08but you know we all got to get that out.
- 1:26:11But on that note guys you know 11 more days of many mail
- 1:26:16survey. It's simple.
- 1:26:17Don't overthink it evaluations will be out in a few weeks and
- 1:26:22we'll see what this is doing. And if you're only doing those
- 1:26:25six required scans, It's going to affect you so make sure that
- 1:26:30you're like, oh shit, I got it. I better be doing that correctly
- 1:26:33because that's going to affect you know that could possibly
- 1:26:36affect the next one in six months and a year from now, you
- 1:26:40know, this is here to stay and on that note says definitely pay
- 1:26:45attention to what you're doing because that is your paycheck
- 1:26:47and none of us can stress that enough.
- 1:26:50But out there be safe, I know some areas are expecting some
- 1:26:54more snow, you know, be safe out there.
- 1:26:57Their pay attention. And on that note, we will talk
- 1:27:01to you again next week.
