- 0:00Brothers, Sister Salaam Alaikum and welcome back to another
- 0:03episode on the aftermath of podcast The Late Night Buzz, a
- 0:05platform where we have serious conversations and today is no
- 0:09different. The ongoing humanitarian crisis
- 0:11unfolding in front of our eyes in the Middle East no doubt is
- 0:14on everyone's minds. It's a discussion we wish to
- 0:17have, and before I delve into this conversation, I'd like to,
- 0:20as always, welcome my Co host, Salaam Alaikum Ahmed.
- 0:32Like what? Salaam said.
- 0:32How are you keeping? I'm well, but I'm not content at
- 0:38the moment with how life is going with the things that I'm
- 0:40seeing around the world. What about yourself?
- 0:42Yeah, I think I can agree. I think it's a grave time for
- 0:47not only our community or the Muslim or my large, but I think
- 0:51for the entire world. It's a place where the human.
- 0:56Is now facing a moment of decision making, a defining
- 1:01moral moments in present history.
- 1:05And we have the chance to to understand an issue which is
- 1:10deep rooted in recent history and it's gone back for decades
- 1:14and to ultimately stand on the side of truth and and stand up
- 1:20for those who are being oppressed.
- 1:22Obviously this is a very sensitive conversation.
- 1:25And before we begin, I think it's important just to make a
- 1:27note to everyone who's watching and listening at home that
- 1:30inshallah we conduct this conversation with respect, with
- 1:34understanding and with consciousness, that we have
- 1:37listeners from different areas of the world, different
- 1:40religions, different backgrounds, communities and
- 1:42demographics. And of course, there are things
- 1:45we can talk about and there are also things we're not permitted
- 1:48to talk about. So please bear that in mind.
- 1:50Please understand that from a community perspective, we will
- 1:53do our best insha Allah. And we are recording this on
- 1:58Tuesday the 17th of October. So everything and anything we
- 2:00discuss is our own opinion and it's as of today.
- 2:04So yeah, I mean to say this is obviously something we've talked
- 2:07about on Instagram for a while. We've been sharing a lot of
- 2:09content. We've been engaging with the
- 2:13audience. We've had dozens of people get
- 2:15in touch, sending talking points for today's conversation,
- 2:20sending questions. But why are we having this
- 2:23conversation? Because there are people who are
- 2:25not. You're also a good question.
- 2:27I like how you mentioned that we have been, you know, sharing
- 2:30things on our stories, on Instagram, etcetera, because I
- 2:33have never seen so much people, you know, have an opinion on a
- 2:36subject like Palestine. And to be honest, I wouldn't say
- 2:40that's the reason we're having this conversation.
- 2:42It's because of that, if I can be honest and frank with you,
- 2:45before we even thought about, you know, having this discussion
- 2:49today, we were like, you know, let's discuss Palestine.
- 2:52And I think I said I want to discuss Palestine because I felt
- 2:55like it's, it meant something to me as a Muslim.
- 2:58But someone who, you know, has hope and humanity that the world
- 3:01becomes a better, a better place inshallah.
- 3:04That's the ultimate, ultimate goal that we all inshallah
- 3:06aspire to see one day. But I think more importantly,
- 3:09the reason that we're going to have this discussion today is
- 3:12that because we can't stay silent for the rest of our lives
- 3:15if we see something like oppression happening around the
- 3:18world. And you know, we always hear if
- 3:20there's one arm of the Muslim ummah that's hurt, the entire
- 3:24Muslim is hurt, the entire Muslim ummah is hurt.
- 3:27And I think that's the emotion, emotional side speaking here.
- 3:31But ultimately, why are we having this conversation that
- 3:33that's, that's my emotion speaking, but why should we have
- 3:36this? Yeah, that hadith you mentioned
- 3:38is very important. The Holy Prophet, Muhammad
- 3:40Sallallahu alayhi wasallam says that if the Muslim almost like a
- 3:43body, and if an area of the body is affected, the whole night
- 3:46will stay. The whole body will stay awake
- 3:48at night as if it has a fever. If you have a Palestine fever or
- 3:52if you have a weather fever or a Kashmiri fever or a Yemeni
- 3:57fever, and you feel the plight of people, oppressed Muslims
- 4:00around the world. Then you are one of them.
- 4:02What Menin according to the Hadith and sha Allah and Allah
- 4:05will accept you as such. But it's important to say
- 4:07because without trying to get political and there is a
- 4:11political element to this conversation.
- 4:12But we're we are not political experts or or analysts, so we're
- 4:16not going to delve into the politics and we have to make
- 4:19that clear. But there is an absolute
- 4:22humanitarian crisis, like you said, unfolding before our eyes.
- 4:27A genocide. Where you have an occupier and
- 4:30an an occupied population and what's been happening over the
- 4:35last specifically 10/11/12 days, perhaps by the time you're
- 4:39listening to this conversation or even more is, is
- 4:43heartbreaking. It's truly heartbreaking.
- 4:47At the point of recording, over 3300 people have been killed in
- 4:52the occupied lands of Gaza. Also in the West Bank, but more
- 4:58so in Gaza. One hour before coming to the
- 5:01studio today, we heard that an Ali Baptist hospital was
- 5:06targeted in a blast. 500 civilians were killed.
- 5:11There are 5500 pregnant women in Palestine right now who are due
- 5:18to give birth this month. This month and there's 50,000
- 5:22pregnant women across Palestine. Where are they going to get
- 5:26their health care from? Where are they going to get
- 5:28access to doctors when hospitals are being blown up?
- 5:32Where are they going to get access to water when water,
- 5:36fuel, food, electricity is being cut off?
- 5:40Where are Palestinians going to find shelter and safety when
- 5:46over a million people have been asked to evacuate, evacuate
- 5:48their homelands and move to another area?
- 5:51And that forced evacuation is in some sense, as the World Health
- 5:54Organization said, is a death sentence to people because
- 5:58people who are sick on hospital beds, they have no choice.
- 6:02They stay there at risk of dying because they're already unwell,
- 6:05they're already injured, they're already targeted.
- 6:08And if they leave, they lose the access to health care and
- 6:10they're also at risk of death. So it is a tragic situation.
- 6:14And there are Muslims that are Shia, in particular, a minority
- 6:18I have to say. Who are either silent or
- 6:21reluctant to discuss this and it's it's disappointing.
- 6:26Why do you think they're silent? Can I ask?
- 6:28Because I've seen posts and I've seen like, people come out and
- 6:32say, you know what, Why are you quiet?
- 6:33Why are you not speaking? Why you not, you know, giving a
- 6:35voice to the Palestinians? Why do people?
- 6:38Ask that bro, I really don't know.
- 6:40I I really can't get my head around it.
- 6:43Like like what sort of person do you have to be to not feel pain?
- 6:49When you see a child like Wadir, who's the young boy in Chicago
- 6:54who was 26 times yesterday by his landlord because he said
- 7:01he's a Palestinian, and if I could stop one more Palestinian
- 7:04from growing up, I will do that. What sort of person do you have
- 7:07to be to look at that and not feel pain like a six year old, a
- 7:11six year old boy? How can you find 26 places to to
- 7:15attack? I don't like it mentioning it
- 7:17because it breaks my heart. Like, or when you see the video
- 7:21which came out today, I don't know if you saw, there's that
- 7:23young boy wearing a Ronaldo shirt, Do you see that Ronaldo
- 7:26football kit? And he's crying and he's
- 7:29heartbroken. He's like, I was playing
- 7:30football with my baby nephew. He's like the bull rolled under
- 7:34a car. I went to grab the ball, he goes
- 7:36there, there, there was a blast. He goes, my nephew, his back is
- 7:41injured, he said. My friend, his head exploded and
- 7:45bro, it was so. Heartbreaking to hear that.
- 7:49It was so heartbreaking. And you think that a last one to
- 7:53Allah has given a divine test to these people and also a test to
- 7:59us in how we respond. So your question as to why
- 8:03people are silent, I don't know. You know, there's that saying of
- 8:06Malcolm X. It's like something along the
- 8:11lines I'll I'll find it. It's like.
- 8:13It's more, it's not the the, the words of your enemies which
- 8:17hurt, but more the silence of your friends.
- 8:20And that's what's disappointing. When we see freedom fighters and
- 8:22we see people who are, I say freedom fighters in the sense of
- 8:26ideologically, people who talk about freedom and civil rights
- 8:29and justice are sometimes selective when it comes to
- 8:33choosing who they speak up for. That's disappointing, but I
- 8:37would rather not do that. I'd rather thank the people and
- 8:39and and commend the people. Who are talking about
- 8:42humanitarian issues and who are talking about oppression?
- 8:44Because that's the real issue here.
- 8:46Yeah, I I agree with you there. But I I just want to say one
- 8:49thing though. And I, and I think it's
- 8:50important that when you see your friend or if you see your
- 8:54neighbour or even a family member, that's not, let's say,
- 8:58you know, raising awareness about what's happening in
- 9:00Palestine and the occupied lands of Palestine is don't bully them
- 9:04or intimidate them, rather encourage them.
- 9:07Yeah. And I I think if we take that
- 9:09approach where I think people are encouraged to raise
- 9:12awareness, I think, I think it will do magic.
- 9:14Yeah, it'll be magical when imagine the entire community
- 9:17comes together and raise awareness about what's happening
- 9:20now in Palestine rather than why are you not, you are this, you
- 9:23are that. And I think if we take that
- 9:24approach, I think people will not even think twice.
- 9:28And this is not a religious issue.
- 9:30It's not. It's.
- 9:31Not it's not a political issue really in its core it's a human
- 9:34issue and we're talking about people who are oppressed and.
- 9:38Yes, there are 1.7 billion Muslims around the world.
- 9:40But you don't have to be a Muslim to understand that there
- 9:43are people who are suffering and people around the world are
- 9:47coming together and using their voices and they're using their,
- 9:50their, their, their networks, they're using their resources to
- 9:54speak up. And that's what's exactly what
- 9:57should be done. You know, people should be using
- 9:59their voices, you know, in Charlotte today we'll try and
- 10:01talk about. Ways in which people can make a
- 10:05difference, Ways in which people can stand up for the oppressed
- 10:09and ways in which people can understand the the issue A bit
- 10:12deeper. But maybe a good place to start
- 10:14saying is trying to understand the origin of of all of this.
- 10:20Not so much in the historical sense, although we can talk
- 10:23about the history. But what's important to note
- 10:27because obviously this is not an issue which has been going on
- 10:30for for 10/12/14 days. It's going on for a long time,
- 10:34isn't it? It's been going on for many,
- 10:37many years, 10s of years, way before I was even born.
- 10:40And and you know, Palestine is not something that I'm not
- 10:42familiar with because I remember as a kid, I think I was even 9
- 10:46or 10 years old at the time, was my first time seeing a little
- 10:49boy getting shot, a little boy getting shot.
- 10:53And I was like what, 9 or 10? And already in my mind was like
- 10:56something is not right, something was wrong.
- 10:58Hamad Adora, I am I. Am Hamad Adora and that famous
- 11:02picture of his father. Shielding him?
- 11:04Yes, yes, yes. And his father, Jamal Adora, who
- 11:08believe it or not, also lost his two other sons this week.
- 11:11Yeah. And I and I saw there was a
- 11:13video that's doing the rounds of him.
- 11:15And you know, he even touches about Karbala, talks about Imam
- 11:18Ali Hussein when he speaks about his sons and the situation in
- 11:20Palestine. But just before I even go into
- 11:22the history, let's say of the history, I just want to go back
- 11:25to the silencing, if I can say to that point where it's not
- 11:29even just us. I think the most deafening
- 11:31silence, where the world doesn't talk about it, where you know,
- 11:35people don't mind coming out straight away, which I don't, I
- 11:38don't care. Condemn Hamas all you want, but
- 11:41you have to condemn the other side.
- 11:44You know, when there's innocent civilians.
- 11:46At this time, we're talking about harmony.
- 11:47You said the statistic. What was the?
- 11:48Number over 3000 / 3000. Over 1010 thousand injured,
- 11:5210,000 injured. So many.
- 11:54So many. And what's sad about this whole
- 11:57catastrophe is what in Palestine, in this Raza, maybe
- 12:03we're going to call it Gaza. Is Raza the correct
- 12:06pronunciation? They don't even have bulldozers
- 12:09or diggies and things to take people out of the rubble, bro.
- 12:12They're using their hands and they're saying there are
- 12:14thousands under the rubble they haven't been able to reach.
- 12:18So you know it, it didn't start last week or it didn't start two
- 12:22weeks ago. It didn't start on the 7th of
- 12:23October. It started in the early 1900s.
- 12:28Yeah, yeah, yeah, I'm coming. I mean, the history goes back
- 12:30to. If I'm not mistaken, 1918 and
- 12:35when we talk about the early 1900s with the Balfour
- 12:38Declaration, we talk about the gradual colonial colonialization
- 12:42of Gaza or Palestine in general, it's it's it comes back to the
- 12:49conversation of apartheid and colonization.
- 12:52The colonization at play is is really no different to
- 12:57colonization we see in other parts of the world.
- 12:59See colonization across the Middle East.
- 13:01We've seen colonisation of the subcontinent, we've seen
- 13:03colonisation in Oceania and Australasia, we've seen
- 13:06colonisation Africa. We've seen colonisation North
- 13:08America. We've seen colonisation in South
- 13:10America. We've seen colonisation to
- 13:12degrees in Europe. Where in the world has there not
- 13:15been traces of colonisation? And we are now children,
- 13:18diaspora, children of colonised people who are witnessing the
- 13:23plight of of the Palestinians and we are are recognising this
- 13:30is. Very similar to many of the
- 13:32cases we've seen in the past and many times in the past, we have.
- 13:37Well, I say we I'm saying that the world has oppressed the
- 13:41people and then hundreds of years later stood on the same
- 13:45land where indigenous people have stood and said, oh, here's
- 13:49a Memorial Day for the indigenous people of this land
- 13:51who were butchered or who were mass genocidely killed.
- 13:57Hundreds of years ago. And we have Memorial Day.
- 14:00No, we can stop that from happening right now, you know,
- 14:02because there's a genocide at play right now.
- 14:04Do you see what I mean? So from the early 1900s up until
- 14:081947, where the State of Israel was created OK legally and the
- 14:15gradual growth of illegal settlements in Palestinian land
- 14:22is one thing. But obviously there's a much
- 14:24deeper issue and that is the allowance or the enabling of
- 14:27such an occupation to take place, that illegal occupation
- 14:31to take place when you've got people from Mandela to Desmond
- 14:34Tutu who've stood up and called this an apartheid state and
- 14:37we're talking about South Africans who recognise what
- 14:39apartheid state is. When you have civil rights
- 14:45leaders across the 20th and the 21st centuries who've been
- 14:48talking about this issue, it becomes a globally accepted
- 14:52issue. It's not a political issue
- 14:54today. It's a globally accepted
- 14:57humanitarian issue over 100 years.
- 14:59So this is something important to note because a lot of the
- 15:01time as a community, everyone says put your hands together and
- 15:05make da ah OK yes, 1000% da Ah is the weapon of the believer.
- 15:11On last month, all I tell Santalia, Quran, Remember Me and
- 15:14I'll remember you. He tells us that come to me and
- 15:16da. I will respond to your DA, Yeah.
- 15:19Like you will not. Your DA will not be as impactful
- 15:22if you don't know what you're praying for.
- 15:23Like if you don't know the root of the issue, you're just
- 15:26praying for, for what you see today.
- 15:28Well, the sad thing, and you know what I think in my opinion
- 15:31is what's paved the way for this, this endless occupation,
- 15:35if we can call it this endless apartheid system that that
- 15:38exists in the state of Israel and in occupied lands, is that,
- 15:41you know, this deafening silence that I mentioned earlier is that
- 15:44people don't say nothing. People don't care.
- 15:46It's become normal. And right now I was thinking
- 15:48earlier today, I was genuinely thinking when I, you know, was
- 15:52reflecting on, you know, them being blocked access to drinking
- 15:56water and the Reza, for example. I was thinking, you know what?
- 15:59You know, we feed animals in London Zoo.
- 16:02We ensure that the animals in the cages, they get fed
- 16:05properly. The one looked after the you
- 16:08know, the nutrition is up to date.
- 16:10They ensure the water intake is up to date, but no one cares
- 16:12about a Palestinian so why feel the world they don't give a
- 16:17flying monkey about a Palestinian?
- 16:19If I'm honest, I'll use other words, but I have to use this
- 16:21word on the podcast is that. And it's sad for me to even
- 16:24compare the two. The life of a Palestinian at the
- 16:28moment and the eyes of the Western world, I'm going to be
- 16:31as frank as it is, is worth less than the animals in London Zoo.
- 16:37That's the stage we've reached and that's because of this
- 16:39deafening silence that's been allowed to continue.
- 16:42It's become a statistic, so it's become a numbers game.
- 16:44You're desensitized. So when it becomes, and I
- 16:47apologize for comparing that. Yeah.
- 16:48And I do not want to do that, but I'm just trying to say how
- 16:51real the situation they are. Facing Bro When you talk about
- 16:56people wiped off the face of the earth like as things stand 47.
- 17:02Palestinian families have been wiped off the the Palestinian
- 17:05Health Ministries register. And by the way, when they say
- 17:08families, they're not talking about 2-3 siblings, Mama and
- 17:11dad, not an entire generation. Entire Ashira videos.
- 17:14A whole tribe. Ashira, a surname, wiped off the
- 17:18face of the earth. 47 families. And when you talk about 47
- 17:22families and we're talking about Middle Eastern Palestinian
- 17:24families, which likely have 10-15 people per family in on
- 17:28average, you know, with nephews and cousins and sons and
- 17:31daughters and all of. That you're talking about
- 17:33hundreds of people who've been wiped off the face of the earth.
- 17:36Their heritage, their DNA, has been erased forever.
- 17:40And when you say 47 families, or if you're to say 57 or 37, are
- 17:46we more moved or less moved? No, not not as much as we should
- 17:50be. Because statistics don't always
- 17:52tell a story. They might tell a story when
- 17:54you're understanding. You know, the the, the tides at
- 17:57play, but not really when it comes to dictating or guiding
- 18:01your emotional direction. All right.
- 18:04I just want to make it clear because of course there are
- 18:07people who have suffered in this conflict in in, and I'm going to
- 18:11be very honest with you and I know I'm going to get a heat for
- 18:14this, but on both sides who have been killed.
- 18:17OK. And it is civilians.
- 18:19Civilians, it's civilian lives which have been lost, and it's
- 18:22civilian lives and harm to civilians is against
- 18:25international law. It's against the Geneva
- 18:27Convention and it's against Islamic law.
- 18:29OK, so. And it's against.
- 18:30It's against Judaic law as well. So this is filk according to
- 18:35Judaism, according to Islam, these are, these are
- 18:37obligations. They are Jewish prudential
- 18:39obligations on Muslims and Jews. And on top of that as well on
- 18:43the international scene. This is illegal.
- 18:46All right, so. A life lost is a life lost.
- 18:49The Holy Quran tells us that killing one person is equivalent
- 18:51to killing the entire of humanity.
- 18:54All right, so any life lost is a human life lost is a travesty.
- 18:58It's one less person that has the opportunity to turn back to
- 19:00Allah spinal to Allah. In the normal state of death,
- 19:04which should be the case, no one should be killed on this planet.
- 19:07No one should be killed and. And no one should be killed,
- 19:10especially unfairly, unjustly. OK, but we're talking about a
- 19:13situation now in Gaza where every 4 to 5 minutes people are
- 19:19dying. So if you do the maths, every
- 19:22hour 14 Palestinians have been killed, 14 Palestinians have
- 19:26been killed. That means, on average, since
- 19:28this conflict began last week, Saturday, every 4 to 5 minutes,
- 19:34someone has killed. And that stat might have gone up
- 19:37by now. By the time you're listening to
- 19:38this in Charlotte doesn't in Charlotte goes down.
- 19:40But what sort of world do we have to live in where someone is
- 19:42being killed? And we're not talking about any
- 19:44population. We're talking about the world's
- 19:46most condensed area. We're talking about the largest
- 19:49open air prison in the world. We're talking about a place
- 19:51where 70% of people are refugees, 40 to 50% of people
- 19:54are children. That means if you're talking
- 19:56about someone dying every 4 to 5 minutes.
- 19:58On average you're talking about a child being killed every 8
- 20:01minutes or 9 minutes. Do you see what I mean?
- 20:03Like that is not normal bro, that we're talking about 5 year
- 20:06olds and six year olds and we've got people who are saying, oh
- 20:09aren't, aren't the Palestinians anti Shia?
- 20:11Do you know how much that annoys?
- 20:15Me. Yeah, yeah.
- 20:15Yeah. Yeah.
- 20:16Do you know how much that annoys me?
- 20:17Like, I'm sorry, but we're talking about kids here.
- 20:21We're talking about children. We're talking about people who
- 20:24are innocent. So.
- 20:27Like that really, really frustrates me.
- 20:29Oh, and you know, knowing that there are babies, infants,
- 20:34newborns, mothers, innocent civilians, all these people.
- 20:38And and you know, the worst thing.
- 20:39And I and I and I think was even more sad, you know, and I spoke
- 20:42about the water thing earlier. Is that OK, let's say there's no
- 20:45drinking water. And now what happens to the
- 20:47mother who's nursing her infant? How, How is she able to nurse
- 20:51that infant? Who he needs to survive.
- 20:54He needs to, he needs to get nursed.
- 20:56There's no other thing. And that's the one thing that
- 20:58took me to to. I wouldn't compare it 100%, but
- 21:01it took me, bro. It took me to the plains of
- 21:03Karbala where we remember, you know, Hazrat Ali Al Azrar, where
- 21:08he was unable to be nursed because there was no water.
- 21:11Yeah. When you say the Shias, people
- 21:14say you know they say Shias should not stand for Palestine.
- 21:18No, this is a minority. They say Shias should not stand.
- 21:20No, no, they say this out loud. I've heard.
- 21:21I've read. Twitter, that is.
- 21:22That's not a majority. It's not the majority of voices.
- 21:25That's right. But then you do have these
- 21:26pockets who sadly their voice is amplified.
- 21:29And people like to share their their their opinions around the
- 21:31world where they say Shiite. I shouldn't stand for Palestine
- 21:33because Palestinians, they do what they kill.
- 21:36The Shiite Palestinians are Nawasa Palestinians.
- 21:39They don't love the Ehrlbait. Palestinians have been bombing
- 21:41us in Iraq and Surya, all of these things.
- 21:44No problem. Habibi.
- 21:45Well, that's a very small minority, yeah.
- 21:48The majority of Palestinians bro, they believe in La Ilaha,
- 21:50Muhammad, Rasul, Allah and they have love and respect for their.
- 21:53They are, they are. They are Shia in Palestine and
- 21:55even if they were not they are part of the Ummah.
- 21:57They are our our brothers and sisters and that should not be
- 22:00forgotten. And a child is a child and an
- 22:03innocent civilian is an innocent civilian And someone who has
- 22:05been their life has been taken unjustly.
- 22:09They didn't have the chance to to reconcile ideologically with
- 22:13with other Muslims. Do you see what I mean?
- 22:15Like their life has been cut short.
- 22:17Early, earlier than their, their initial predestined natural
- 22:22death. And by the way, there's this
- 22:23thing about these Palestinians normally stems from Iraqis.
- 22:26And I'll be very honest, why? Because, you know, we did face
- 22:28stuff. Yeah, I know.
- 22:29Yeah, there's there's no denying that and there is no denying
- 22:32that. Yes, Palestinians, people of
- 22:34Palestinian nationality did come to Iraq and, you know, do the
- 22:37suicide bombing and things like that, that did happen.
- 22:39But they need to remember Iraqis did that too.
- 22:42Other nationalities, nationalities did that too.
- 22:44So it wasn't just the Palestinians.
- 22:46And it's really unfair to say to a Shia that the Shia I shouldn't
- 22:50stand up for Palestine because that's not the ahlak of Rasul
- 22:53Allah Sallallahu Alaihi Salam. It's not the Ahlak of Imam Ali
- 22:57Ali Salam and it's definitely not the ahlak of Imam and Mehdi
- 23:00Ali. Because we know wherever there
- 23:03is oppression #1, Allah is with them.
- 23:06Allah is with them wherever they are any oppression, be it Muslim
- 23:08or non-muslim. When someone is facing
- 23:10oppression, Allah is with them. And we know Imam Ali Jalaat Al
- 23:13Faraja Sharif when he returns there's a reason for his return.
- 23:17And what's that reason is that when we know what the world is
- 23:20filled with, injustice and tyranny, inshallah He's He's
- 23:23here to return, to restore justice and equality and
- 23:26everything. And this is something we yearn.
- 23:29We hope and inshallah we live to see that and we live to see a
- 23:33world where you know, the Shia Adu represents Muhammad Wani
- 23:38Muhammad for what we truly are. And that's we look, look after
- 23:41everyone, not just Shia, not just lovers of Imam Ali, not
- 23:45just lovers of Imam and Hussein, but the entire world, whether
- 23:47Muslim, Christian, Jew or someone who doesn't even believe
- 23:50in God. We have to look after them from
- 23:52a humanitarian perspective. Because Imam Ali Ali Salaam says
- 23:56a brother's either a person's either your brother in faith or
- 23:59your equal humanity and this is a humanitarian crisis.
- 24:02It is I sent, I sent you know there's.
- 24:06Like there's a lot of things that we need to be aware of, and
- 24:10I think it's important for us to talk about what can be done.
- 24:12A lot of people have sent in questions asking about what what
- 24:15we can do, what we can do. There's a few things I want to I
- 24:18want to mention here actually, before we get into that.
- 24:21I want to save that what we can do as a solution or?
- 24:24But we'll come to that because I I want to highlight mass.
- 24:28Hypocrisy. God, we're seeing, OK, double
- 24:31standards. Double standards everywhere we
- 24:33look, unfortunately OK double standards in the Western media,
- 24:37double standards on social media, double standards by local
- 24:40politicians and by international politicians.
- 24:42We have seen misinformation spread and accepted and not just
- 24:47accepted, propagated. En masse, yeah, yeah, it's on
- 24:52newspapers as well, yeah. By by, by politicians,
- 24:55journalists and organisations from the east to the West.
- 24:58OK, I'm talking about Ben Shapiro.
- 25:01If you ever watch this, you are unfortunately not a not a not a
- 25:06good person. This guy has no heart.
- 25:08Bro Ben Shapiro, who tweeted out an AI generated image of a burnt
- 25:13child and said, you know, blamed the the Palestinian people.
- 25:17I I'm not. I don't want to get into the
- 25:18politics like I mentioned. But using AI images for
- 25:22propaganda is not the first time we've seen that there's a war
- 25:25machine that's going on here, major news outlets talking about
- 25:2940 babies. Well, unfortunately, that was
- 25:31never verified, even that President Biden said that and
- 25:34they retracted the statement. Yeah, the White House had to
- 25:36come and say it's not verified. Exactly.
- 25:38We've seen the same statement happen in the UK.
- 25:40We've seen it printed over main mainstream tabloids in the UK.
- 25:43And of course, apologies and retractions because these things
- 25:47are not verified where what is verified is the at present 754
- 25:52babies which have been killed, children have been killed in
- 25:54Palestine as of right now. You know, the date we're
- 25:57recording. And it's not just a statistic
- 25:59coming out of Palestine. No, our eyes have seen the
- 26:01images and our our eyes have seen the actual videos of the
- 26:05masochism of the genocide that's taking place.
- 26:07But but look when I talk about hypocrisy and misinformation.
- 26:12All I want to say is that has existed before.
- 26:15It's existed in the past. It's existed in the racial
- 26:18struggles of African Americans. It's existed in.
- 26:21For example, we talked about the South African apartheid.
- 26:24It's existed in the UK. When it talks about the right
- 26:27for women's voting, it's existed in different forms of oppression
- 26:31which have taken place on different corners and different
- 26:34corners of the world. All right, but what I really
- 26:37want to mention is about the the individual responsibility to
- 26:40share accurate information. Brother sisters, if you hear
- 26:44something online or you see something online, please go and
- 26:47verify it. Go and check where the source of
- 26:49information is. Find out what you're what you're
- 26:51hearing or what you're listening to and understand if it's true
- 26:54or not. There are people who have come
- 26:56out and said there has there has never been an an attempt to find
- 27:00sovereignty for the Palestinians in a non violent manner.
- 27:05The Great Return March, which took place a few years ago.
- 27:08For one year, Palestinians marched without arms, without
- 27:11violence. Yeah, without arms, without
- 27:14violence. To stand, you know, to find
- 27:16peace and to find independence. Razan Abu Najaal, a young medic,
- 27:202223 years old girl was killed treating the wounds of people
- 27:24who were injured in that conflict.
- 27:26Ibrahim Abu Fariah. This guy was a martyr Shaheed,
- 27:30who who lost all his limbs in 2014 bombings.
- 27:35He then went to the March five years later.
- 27:38He was holding a flag with whichever limbs he has left, and
- 27:41he was martyred there. Rachel Corey, an American
- 27:48Caucasian white young journalist girl, not Muslim, travelled to
- 27:53Palestine, was run over by an Israeli bulldozer.
- 27:58Now the reason I'm saying this. Is because there has to be
- 28:02something which strikes people to understand that this is a
- 28:06crisis which is beyond Islam, Judaism, or people of politics
- 28:10and governments. This is a question of Huck and
- 28:13Barbin. This is a question of right and
- 28:15wrong. Never has it been more clearly
- 28:17understood or evident for our eyes to see that innocent people
- 28:21are being killed, regardless of where they're from.
- 28:24You know, Shereen Abu Aklar, who's the Al Jazeera reporter
- 28:28who was killed? She wasn't.
- 28:29She's a Palestinian. She wasn't a Muslim.
- 28:31She was, she was she. She was killed.
- 28:34And at her funeral procession, the people who are carrying her
- 28:37coffin were attacked as well. All on video.
- 28:40And my my point is, is that when, when we live in a world
- 28:43where at present 50 media organisations have been
- 28:48targeted, you know, we're talking about the likes of.
- 28:50Associated Press, AP, Al Jazeera, Al Mahan.
- 28:54There are so many other media organisations, if I remember
- 28:56correctly, which had been targeted.
- 28:58You know, 11 journalists have been killed so far.
- 29:01Fake news will always be rampant.
- 29:03But it's it's incumbent upon us as Muslims to always verify
- 29:07before we hear anything we treat.
- 29:09You know, we we have that methodology when it comes to
- 29:11hadith like oh, is this hadith authentic?
- 29:14Is it Sahir? We have to check all the source.
- 29:16But when it comes to mainstream news, we don't apply the same
- 29:19logic. So there's there are double
- 29:21standards at play here. And there's double standards
- 29:23that we see in the media. There's no joke.
- 29:26Yeah. And when we read headlines and
- 29:28when we see, you know, the way some articles are presented, the
- 29:31way some, you know, the the the what, what the presenters
- 29:34narrates while they're, you know, trying to say this is
- 29:37what's happening. Yeah.
- 29:39There's certain ways of how they word things wrote shocking.
- 29:42Yeah, I know. When I saw, for example, you
- 29:44know, when there was Israelis that died, they said the
- 29:48Israelis were killed. When the Palestinians were
- 29:53killed, they said, the Palestinians died.
- 29:56Treated by Sky News BBC as well. And the most shocking thing as
- 30:00well that I came across today that I saw was the apology.
- 30:02Finally the BBC came out to apologize and although I think
- 30:06it's too late where they said, you know, on the weekend when
- 30:09there was, you know the mass protests, pro Palestine protest
- 30:13that was happening. They said it was a pro terrorist
- 30:15protest. Yeah, they said what?
- 30:16What did they say? I was shocked when I heard it.
- 30:19I was like, they were like Rishi Sunak went to a Jewish school in
- 30:23the morning to what, stand with the Jewish community?
- 30:27No problem or what? What did the presenter say?
- 30:30And because of that go what? And listen to the words.
- 30:33And because of that what Rishi Sunak did.
- 30:36A pro Palestinian March went out in protest of pro Hamas.
- 30:43Then they have to retract that and then said, and now and
- 30:45here's the weather anyway, not to make honor of it, but this is
- 30:50how serious it is. And people who watch the news
- 30:52and they have no other source of information apart from the BBC
- 30:56or from Sky News or CNN or whatever channels that they
- 30:58watch. When it's one sided, when it's
- 31:02all biased towards 1. Government, of course you're
- 31:05going to grow up thinking you know what, everyone's a
- 31:07terrorist. Everyone's everyone wants to
- 31:10kill you. The whole world's against you.
- 31:11This war is is US visa free world for example.
- 31:15When in reality if if they remove the double standards and
- 31:17they remove the bias and the reporter for what?
- 31:20What it really, truly is bro you can report it very nicely.
- 31:23You know, occupied Palestine, apartheid, genocide.
- 31:28You can mention all these things freely, but the moment you take
- 31:31that one side, you deny the Palestinians a voice.
- 31:35And it's not a voice that just random came out.
- 31:38No, bro, they have a right for this.
- 31:39This is their land. This is their home.
- 31:42And I'm shocked that you can be a refugee in your own land.
- 31:45This is something I don't understand.
- 31:46No, you're right. Yeah.
- 31:47I mean there's there's there's so much intensity here, you know
- 31:51Dominic Allen, who is the UNFP as ambassador or representative
- 31:57of Palestine. Continue to talk about the
- 31:59humanitarian side. He said that the healthcare
- 32:02system there is on the verge of collapse.
- 32:05Yeah, 20 ambulances have been targeted.
- 32:08We talked about the hospital, which of course was destroyed,
- 32:11blasted today. And this tragic news where
- 32:15hundreds of people have died, estimated 500, perhaps even
- 32:18more. All in all, it kind of begs the
- 32:21question, what now? OK, I, with your permission said
- 32:25I want to kind of give a a short bullet point list of what I
- 32:28think we need to do and then we can discuss and expand on it.
- 32:32The first thing we need to do is dot R dot R is an action plan.
- 32:36dot R is what we should wake up in the morning and do and before
- 32:39we go to sleep we do. Now it's very easy to say make
- 32:41dot R We all make dot R Do we do enough?
- 32:44Probably not. Do we do it correctly?
- 32:45Probably not. Make dot R Use your dot R as a
- 32:49springboard to then do other things.
- 32:51Pray to all. Aspire to Allah to give you the
- 32:52strength and knowledge to make a difference.
- 32:55Then look for that strength and knowledge.
- 32:56It doesn't end there. Educate yourself.
- 32:59What is the Geneva Convention? Who does it apply to?
- 33:01What is a war crime? What does it mean?
- 33:03What are international human rights laws and how are they
- 33:07imposed on different countries? That's the second thing.
- 33:11The third thing, have conversations when you hear
- 33:14people who are talking about this situation and in a way you
- 33:18don't agree with it. Bring it down to a level they
- 33:20understand. If you own a house, if you own a
- 33:24piece of land and your family's lived there for hundreds of
- 33:26years and someone comes in one day and says I have a right to
- 33:30be here, because I believe I have a right to be here, and
- 33:33because my my MyHeritage and my textual heritage says I do, so
- 33:39let me have a piece of your land.
- 33:41That analogy will mean more to people because it's more
- 33:44relatable than understanding the actual conflict at large.
- 33:47So have that conversation. Bring it down to the people.
- 33:49Don't get angry with people, don't use violence with people.
- 33:51We are people who are not violent by nature, so don't use
- 33:56violence. Use the right approach when you
- 33:58speak to people. Another thing understand the
- 34:01religious atheidi connotations that come with the the lands of
- 34:07Palestine. And also the the concept of
- 34:10tyranny and oppression, but also colonization, You know, sort of
- 34:13Shotara. When alas Mandala talks about
- 34:15the story of Nabi Musa Alayhi Salam, he says Musa Alayhi
- 34:19Salaam. When he returned to Faraon, he
- 34:22returned to Faraon. And Faraon used a very smart
- 34:25propaganda colonial tactic. He said are we not the people
- 34:30who raised you in our house as our own children?
- 34:32He tells Nabi Musa alayh Salaam. This is similar to a colonizer's
- 34:36mentality. I gave you.
- 34:38I gave you employment. I gave you rights.
- 34:41I gave you. Do you know what I mean?
- 34:42There'll be more Salah Islam. What does he do?
- 34:44He speaks up. He says you have enslaved my
- 34:46people. Use your voices, brother,
- 34:48sisters. We are Husseinis.
- 34:51That means we do not sit down or remain quiet when there is
- 34:55oppression. We are not going to be complicit
- 35:00in oppression. We will not remain silent like
- 35:03the ones who abandoned Hazrat Muslim in Kufa, or the ones who
- 35:07abandoned Islam in Karbala, or the ones who abandoned the
- 35:10minimum, or the ones who abandoned us, Allah, Muhammad,
- 35:12Sallallahu. There are countless examples in
- 35:16our history of people who have stood up, said something, and
- 35:20not thought about the repercussions on their own
- 35:23comfort and their personal lifestyle, but have been able to
- 35:26say something for the greater good.
- 35:28Because when you make a sacrifice, Allah will elevate
- 35:30you. In the in the Akala.
- 35:32So I think it's really important we take these forward.
- 35:35We educate ourselves as Umar, we organise ourselves as Umar and
- 35:39we are are able to respond when we see oppression.
- 35:43There are other things which we can talk about but obviously we,
- 35:45like we said, we don't want to get too political.
- 35:47There are things like the the the boycott, divest and
- 35:49sanctioning scheme where where you know you don't put money
- 35:53towards certain organisations, but this is something we are not
- 35:56expecting. We if you want to learn more
- 35:59about it, there's a lot of stuff online.
- 36:00But there is a lot we can do and we are Muslims first and
- 36:02foremost, and Muslims are pro humanity and pro peace.
- 36:06So it's very important to discuss that.
- 36:08It's a nice perspective you gave as a Muslim for us inshallah to
- 36:11implement and inshallah, you know, share with everyone else.
- 36:14And if you're, you know, listening to the podcast now,
- 36:16maybe this is something we can learn from and not just apply it
- 36:19into Palestine, but any oppression that we see around
- 36:21the world. But you know, also there has to
- 36:23be a solution not just for Muslims because the the, the,
- 36:26you know, the the real ocean. Palestine is not just Muslims
- 36:29and it's definitely not Jews of these Muslims.
- 36:30Then you just make that clear as well.
- 36:31Jews are people of peace and they are brothers, Abrahamic
- 36:34brothers. And you know, I, I I think there
- 36:36is a simple solution in my opinion where let's say the
- 36:39fighting ends at least, you know something happens where
- 36:42civilians are you know, let's say protected and safe in in
- 36:46that sense is number one. I think Israel needs to first,
- 36:49first of all, accept that, you know, they need to give in to
- 36:56the rightful demands of the Palestinians, whether it's, you
- 36:59know, freedom in their land, whether it's, you know,
- 37:01listening to the rights of Palestinians, telling them to
- 37:04stop expanding your settlements into their land.
- 37:08And I can't bear to see someone coming to my home, kicking me
- 37:11out and saying now it's my home, bro, I'm going to go mad.
- 37:15It doesn't work, especially, you know, you've got wife, you've
- 37:17got kids that well you've been all your life you you've made
- 37:19home, home and then someone else calls you home.
- 37:21And there's certain things I think if you know, this is so
- 37:27simply, I I don't even want to explain it because one shouldn't
- 37:30even explain that my home is my home.
- 37:31But my point is certain things that Israel needs to accept is
- 37:34that Palestinians have rights. They have a right to freedom.
- 37:36They have a right to live. They have a right to work, they
- 37:38have a right to eat. They have a right to go to work
- 37:41and earn a living. This is something they're very
- 37:43restricted with and and and it's not just in in bro.
- 37:46It's not just in the in the Reza, in the West Bank is in
- 37:49Jerusalem. It happens everywhere.
- 37:51I mean it's it's something to just let them live let them feel
- 37:55like what it is to be a human being.
- 37:57That's all I'm saying and if the solution no one wants to give up
- 38:00land. I'm not saying do you have a
- 38:01right to it. I'm not saying they have a right
- 38:02to it. We all know who has the right to
- 38:04the land. But if if no, if nothing is
- 38:06going anywhere bro, just let people live.
- 38:09You don't need to you know be the aggressor.
- 38:11You don't need to be, you know, having a a situation where
- 38:15you're fine with you as a government or fine with you as a
- 38:19state or fine with you as people of Israel, citizens of Israel,
- 38:23allowing the apartheid to continue.
- 38:25It's not one that's not right. Yeah, and when you probably,
- 38:28when you think of it like this as well, on a human level, I'm
- 38:31talking. I'm not even talking politics.
- 38:33I'm not even talking. And and and the the
- 38:35recommendation for evacuation or or for example, Donald Trump
- 38:39junior tweeted today, Why are no neighbouring states taking
- 38:43refugees from Palestine? Because.
- 38:45Accepting people from Palestine is legitimizing the fact that
- 38:48people think that this is not Palestinian land, because the
- 38:51minute Palestinians leave their land, they've given up their
- 38:54'cause. Now, rightly or wrongly, it's a
- 38:57legitimate argument. You can.
- 38:59You can legitimately say. But I would rather stay where I
- 39:02am and risk my life than I would to leave my life, to leave my
- 39:05land and and live peacefully elsewhere.
- 39:07Now, you as an individual might not do that.
- 39:09You might have a different way of doing things.
- 39:11And you'd say, oh, I'd rather save my family.
- 39:13Look, we're not talking about what you would do.
- 39:15We're talking about what is being done by the native, by the
- 39:17indigenous Palestinians who are there right now.
- 39:19OK. To add on, what you're saying is
- 39:23100% right? And then on top of that saying
- 39:26it's, it's important to understand that our calls are,
- 39:29like you said, are for to end the occupation.
- 39:33Because when the people in the protest say no justice, no
- 39:35peace, means you will not find peace until there's justice for
- 39:38the Palestinians. You know, secondly, we call for
- 39:42corridors of human humanitarian aid to be brought into Palestine
- 39:46and let the UN bring in aid if you if, if, if, no one else is
- 39:49allowed to let the UN bring in aid, food, water, supplies when
- 39:54water is. Is running out for over 2
- 39:57million people in shelters. I was reading they're drinking
- 40:01seawater at the moment. How can you humanly drink
- 40:03seawater when you when you when water's running out for over 2
- 40:06million peoples? Let there be a ceasefire, end
- 40:10the violence call, call for peace and ceasefire and allow
- 40:15humanitarian aid into civilian populations.
- 40:18The UN says that. If you are an occupying state
- 40:21like Israel is at the moment, then you have rights over the
- 40:24the occupied population. One of those rights is basic
- 40:26human rights and basic necessities like food and water
- 40:30and fuel and electricity. So that's the 2nd and the third
- 40:32thing we call for the first being end the occupation.
- 40:35But at the bare minimum, immediately a ceasefire of
- 40:39violence and corridors of humanitarian aid to come into
- 40:42the State of Palestine, because without that people will die.
- 40:45And if they're not dying from bombs, they're dying from
- 40:47starvation. And if they're not dying from
- 40:49starvation, they're dying from thirst.
- 40:50And if they're not dying from thirst, they're dying from
- 40:52trauma. And that is the the sad state of
- 40:55affairs, because we are talking about generations of youth and
- 40:57children who, if they survive this conflict, this bloody
- 41:01conflict which is raged on for hundreds of years now, or at
- 41:05least decades, at least 75 years, if that generation
- 41:09survives, they will be traumatised psychologically for
- 41:12the next 100 years. We have to stop this escalating
- 41:15further than where it already is.
- 41:17And unfortunately it's a it's in a very bad place.
- 41:21And people, we need to come together.
- 41:23We need to show solidarity with the oppressed people.
- 41:26We need to show solidarity with people whose lives are at risks,
- 41:30whose family being murdered and martyred.
- 41:33And these are real human beings. Shamar Seidan.
- 41:37This was a 12th grader in Palestine whose life was lost
- 41:40this week. This girl scored 99.6% on her
- 41:4512th grade exam. She was ranked number one in the
- 41:47whole of Palestine for her marks in school.
- 41:50She died this week. What would she have done with
- 41:52her life? I read yesterday about a
- 41:54reconstructive plastic surgeon who was from the UK who died
- 41:59because of what he was there treating people who are in need.
- 42:02We're talking about humanitarian aid workers.
- 42:04We're talking about students. We're talking about journalists.
- 42:07We're talking about babies and mothers.
- 42:09We're talking about human beings.
- 42:10We're not talking about people in the front lines, and that's
- 42:12not our business. We're talking about people who
- 42:15are innocent human beings. So look, we've talked a lot.
- 42:19I think so. We've we've we've obviously
- 42:22stepped into different areas but had these conversations once to
- 42:26speak to your friends, speak to your families.
- 42:28Engaging conversations with your peers, your colleagues at work,
- 42:32your your classmates at school. Don't be shy to have the
- 42:35conversation. What I would say one sisters is
- 42:38don't be shy to have these conversations.
- 42:40Don't feel afraid to have these conversations.
- 42:42Speak to your classmates at school.
- 42:44Speak to your colleagues at work.
- 42:46It doesn't mean you have to go up to someone and ask them why
- 42:48aren't you speaking about it? What are your views on it?
- 42:50No. It means if you see injustice,
- 42:53if you see a misrepresentation. Educate people, inform them,
- 42:57have conversations and engage in forming a bond of
- 43:02humanitarianism with people. Because whatever side of the
- 43:05fence you sit on, you value human life.
- 43:07You can be on any side of the fence, support any organization
- 43:12or any government. You value human life, and if you
- 43:15value human life for one side, you should value human life for
- 43:18all sides. And if you don't, that is
- 43:20hypocrisy. So ultimately, inshallah, this
- 43:22is all. Like you said earlier said,
- 43:26these are signs full of the hall of the Holy Imam and we pray
- 43:30inshallah for his return. And we say to Arnold BA where is
- 43:32the one who will come and end just end tyranny and oppression.
- 43:36And we say, when, when will you see me and when will we you see,
- 43:40when will we see you and when will you see us.
- 43:45And and you know, when we say that to the awaited Imam, we we
- 43:50try to build that connection with our Imam.
- 43:53Like this is a time more than ever that we're striving to
- 43:56build a connection with IMAM. How we How do we do that?
- 43:58There is a time you know, and just before we get into Imam and
- 44:01Mehdi Al Jallah al Farhi Sharif, I just want to echo what you
- 44:03said about silencing and don't be silent.
- 44:06And you know, if we say we are from the Shia of Imam al Hussein
- 44:09and we are from the lovers of the Ehlbait Alim al Salah Tiwa
- 44:12Salam and we follow the footsteps of Rasul Allah, we
- 44:15take Karbala as like our pinnacle or you know the that
- 44:20where we learn the most lessons from that we can implement in
- 44:23such scenarios and situations that we see today.
- 44:25And Imam Hussein, Imam Hussein Ayes Salaam says something very
- 44:28beautiful that we can learn from.
- 44:29And he and he goes on to say the narration, those who are silent
- 44:32when others are oppressed are guilty of oppression themselves.
- 44:36Yeah. And we're not telling you, you
- 44:37know, go, go say awe free Free Palestine, go jump up and down.
- 44:41No one is saying that Relax, calm down, relax.
- 44:44But if something comes up, a conversation does come up.
- 44:47Stand up for the Palestinians. I'm not just Palestinians
- 44:50oppression wherever it is like right now, you know, we've had
- 44:53just in the last few days a bombing in Afghanistan on the
- 44:57Shia. I haven't heard the single. 20
- 44:59lives were lost. I haven't heard the single.
- 45:01I've seen one Shia charities talk about it. 1 Shia charity.
- 45:04I might be wrong. This is my point.
- 45:06And don't just let emotion take you to a certain location around
- 45:09the world, not just rather oppression as a whole.
- 45:11I said Yemen, the most forgotten people in the world.
- 45:14Millions of people at famine 1/3 of the country risk of risk of
- 45:18of death by famine. Since 2015 Yemen has suffered.
- 45:21The Yogas in in China who have suffered for years.
- 45:26The Rohingya in Myanmar who have suffered for years like these
- 45:29are populations. Kashmiri Muslims who have
- 45:32suffered for years. You know where to even Sudanese
- 45:35like there's the list is endless.
- 45:37Forget even internationally even locally in your own post code
- 45:40there are people who are homeless and sleeping on the
- 45:42streets. You know, I was reading.
- 45:43I was going back through some old posts.
- 45:44Yesterday and I found an article which I shared like many years
- 45:48ago, about a homeless guy who passed away next to my
- 45:52university because of the winter cold.
- 45:55And I remember how I felt on that day.
- 45:57When I saw that post, it brought me back.
- 45:59Remember like how heartbreaking it was because we were running a
- 46:01homeless campaign in our university at that time.
- 46:04And I'm thinking like to pan Allah as Muslims or just as
- 46:09human beings, it's very easily to get emotionally fatigued.
- 46:12It's very easy. To build up emotion really fast,
- 46:17to get really passionate and then to to die down you, you get
- 46:21tired, You get drained. After two weeks, 3 weeks, 4
- 46:24weeks. It can be with sport you feel
- 46:27the same. It can be with with religion you
- 46:30feel the same. It can be with your exams and
- 46:32revision, you feel the same. It's very hard to remain
- 46:36consistent with your energy across a year.
- 46:40When it comes to Muharram and asherah, how often do we see
- 46:44people's energy levels dip before Arabaheen and then pick
- 46:47up again and not remain consistent?
- 46:50Or when it comes to natural disasters or wars, how often do
- 46:55we see there's a lot of talk and a lot of hype and then it dies
- 46:58down after 2-3, four weeks? Do not let that happen.
- 47:02It's very easy for us to get frustrated and fatigued.
- 47:05But yeah, we've got to stay positive.
- 47:08And look, we have to remember there's the bigger picture of
- 47:10the the whole of that awaited him mum and Mahdi's coming and
- 47:14inshallah we pray with we're amongst him.
- 47:16Inshallah, I'll apologize Sharif.
- 47:18And you know I mentioned earlier in the conversation that you
- 47:21know the arrival of Imam and Mahdi the Allah Hassan, his
- 47:24reappearance is something we all look forward to and it's
- 47:27something that inshallah we live to see in our lifetime.
- 47:31And we pray Yani, you know the the suffering ends, the
- 47:36oppression ends. You know everything that's wrong
- 47:39that's happening around the world gets corrected via the
- 47:41government of Imam Al Mahdi. Ajalat Arif Al Sharif.
- 47:44And you asked you know how can we prepare for Imam Al Mahdi.
- 47:47And I and I, I do have a narration or two that I will
- 47:50share maybe the listeners will find beneficial.
- 47:53One I've I've come across in Baharal and War volume 52, page
- 47:57140, and it's a narration by Imam Jafar Assad Kalihir Salaam
- 48:02where he says a person who would like to be among the companions
- 48:05of Al Qaim should be in a state of active waiting interval and
- 48:11perform all of his deeds at a level higher than Taqwa and with
- 48:16the most beautiful etiquette. And the one and then one will be
- 48:20counted as being in a state of true waiting.
- 48:23Then if such a person was to die and al qaim was to make his
- 48:27advent after this, then that person would receive the reward
- 48:30as the one who in this al Mahdis had returned basically.
- 48:34I want to I want to shout out act the Instagram page active
- 48:37intolad. Have you heard of it?
- 48:38Yeah, I have. I have I.
- 48:39Shared their posts on after mocking a story a few days ago.
- 48:42Active Intolad Really, really nice page run by a group of
- 48:44brothers that I'm friends with. Yeah, I think it's probably, I
- 48:49might be wrong, but it sounds like they made that organization
- 48:52on the back of this hadith. Beautiful hadith possibly and
- 48:55another hadith that I didn't want to share.
- 48:57And you know, like I mentioned earlier, people actually wait
- 48:59for the returning of Mahmoud and Mehdi and I didn't know that,
- 49:02you know, just waiting is a form of worship.
- 49:05And I came across another narration of Haran and war and
- 49:08this is by Rasulullah Muhammad Sallallahu alaihi wasalam where
- 49:11he says awaiting the relief. The forage, you know with
- 49:16patience is a form of worship and this is is related to Imam
- 49:20Imam and Mehdi Ajalaat, Arjun Sharif Yani just us thinking
- 49:24that the Mehdi will return and restore peace and justice around
- 49:27the world. There's a form Ibadi and how
- 49:30lucky are we to in a state of constant worship, the fact that
- 49:33we pray for the returning environment.
- 49:36I mean, but I think to understand waiting we need to
- 49:39understand the Imam. To understand the Imam, we need
- 49:41to understand what the Imam needs.
- 49:43For us, from us to to then come back and to understand what what
- 49:48he needs from us means we need, you know, we have to understand
- 49:52our own responsibilities. To understand our own
- 49:54responsibilities, we have to understand this environment
- 49:56around us. It's a cyclical relationship.
- 49:59You know the world we live in, how can we affect it?
- 50:03Us affecting, it improves us as people.
- 50:05Improving us as people improves our chances of working with your
- 50:08mum. Working with the Imam or or hope
- 50:10for working with the Imam. Being beside the Imam, working
- 50:13under his his blessed guidance and leadership is active in
- 50:16Tadar. Inshallah, we can be amongst
- 50:18those who are who are counted. Inshallah, I hope and I pray.
- 50:21And you know, there was many people who had actually DM us a
- 50:24lot of questions. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 50:25And one of the questions was you know is Palestine related to
- 50:28Imam and Mehdi's return and and that's just one of many I think
- 50:3210s and 10s of questions that did come in.
- 50:35But I don't think we can answer them and I'll be honest like I'm
- 50:39no scholar. I'm not.
- 50:39We're. Not in a position but but we
- 50:41what we could say sorry said is like in general oppression of
- 50:44course is linked to the coming of the Imam you know surely like
- 50:48it's Palestine and Yemen and so many over 1000 years people have
- 50:53been waiting for the Holy Imam. How many acts of genocide have
- 50:57we seen over 1000 years? Or brutal?
- 51:01Tyranny or whatever it might be, you know, around the world it's
- 51:04happened so often and at every point people are saying, yeah,
- 51:07Imam, you know, you know this is where we call for help, for the
- 51:12imam, for the reappearance, I said.
- 51:15So it's, you know these, you know that like.
- 51:21This is a da we can read every day as well alongside Da al
- 51:24Farage or dial ahead or da like. These are da, as we can do to
- 51:29strengthen our our well, we have many treasures that we can build
- 51:32a connection with the amount of our time.
- 51:34I just think we need to take the initiative to take that step.
- 51:36And if we want to say, you know, we are truly waiting for the
- 51:39return of Imam Sahablasu Zaman, we have to take those steps.
- 51:42We have to read those. Yeah, we have to ask and
- 51:44understand what he wants from us.
- 51:47And just by the hadith I mentioned earlier, you know, we
- 51:49need to be at the state of taqwa.
- 51:51Yeah. So that's a separate
- 51:52conversation that is in itself. And I believe we should have a
- 51:55conversation on where we should. So this might be our last
- 51:58episode. We don't know.
- 52:00For season two. Brothers, sisters, it's been a
- 52:03really difficult episode. We to be really honest with you,
- 52:05we had we had a different episode.
- 52:07I I I want to make this clear as well.
- 52:09Like the last, our last observe was Shaq Mahdi, which was a
- 52:11beautiful discussion. Yeah, it was recorded before the
- 52:15recent conflict kicked off. So there's a reason why we
- 52:17haven't had this conversation and this today what you're
- 52:20seeing. Is is because it's been
- 52:25happening for a long time now and we had to put aside our
- 52:28other planned discussion to have this conversation, but we've got
- 52:32a busy few weeks coming ahead. Inshallah, we are travelling a
- 52:36lot after Maghrib will be at the Space conference in Vancouver,
- 52:40if you haven't already seen. And that's on the 10th of the
- 52:4311th of November in Vancouver, so check it out, we'll be there
- 52:46doing a live podcast. We'll also be do delivering a
- 52:49workshop on media and how to influence narratives of media.
- 52:54We'll also be attending ABSOC events, which I don't know by
- 52:59the time if it comes out if we so we have a busy November.
- 53:02I've got a very busy November events to attend.
- 53:06We're traveling, so inshallah with your prayers.
- 53:09And then we will probably be back if we don't record.
- 53:12If we. If you don't see us next week
- 53:13we'll probably be back in a few weeks.
- 53:15And Charlotte and if you yeah, as I said, I called the same
- 53:18thing. If you don't, if we don't see an
- 53:19additional episode coming out, coming out after this and
- 53:23Charlotte, we will keep you posted and updated as we go.
- 53:26And you know, make sure you do subscribe so you know when the
- 53:28next episode does release. So don't forget to hit that and
- 53:31smash that. Algorithm, algorithm, Algorithm
- 53:33likes matter on YouTube. Honestly speaking, like and all
- 53:37lives matter. All likes matter.
- 53:39All lives matter accent. Well, we don't like all lives.
- 53:41Well, that's a different conversation.
- 53:43All lives matter. Not for me, anyway.
- 53:45But yeah, like, you know, I used to.
- 53:47When I was young, I used to think about the likes on
- 53:49YouTube. Why does it matter?
- 53:51Surely people only care about subscribers, but the likes
- 53:54matter because Bunsen says if you like these videos on
- 53:57YouTube, it gets recommended. It gets recommended and it show
- 54:01up, shows up on other people's feeds and people, you know, say
- 54:05on YouTube. People who've subscribed to this
- 54:07channel also watch these videos and it will show, for example,
- 54:10after marketing podcast, it will jump on our nights and it will
- 54:13show videos that show up on our page.
- 54:15So help us grow and I don't know if we're giving benefits to you
- 54:18guys. Inshallah we have.
- 54:20Across Season 2 and yeah, I hope it's been worth it.
- 54:24I think it has been worth it. Especially you by my sight.
- 54:28Have you the same? Maybe blush?
- 54:33OK guys, I think we should call it a RAPS.
- 54:36Yeah, I I I don't think there's much more I can add value when
- 54:40it comes to the discussion of Palestine.
- 54:42I I I think I've done the best I can in within my capacity here
- 54:46on this platform. Yeah, there's things I wish that
- 54:49I can discuss, that I've I've held myself on discussing.
- 54:51Yeah, yeah, likewise. Inshallah has been beneficial.
- 54:55There's some things of history I've learned today that you've
- 54:57mentioned. I didn't know.
- 55:00I think, and I can only pray that this just ends.
- 55:06The occupation ends. You know, the Palestinians get
- 55:08the freedom that they want and everyone lives a better life and
- 55:11has and has the life and the aspirations to grow up as a
- 55:13human. Being Inshallah, we pray for
- 55:15peace in the region, we pray for peace for all people in the
- 55:18region, and we pray for unity amongst religions as well.
- 55:23Amongst especially our Abrahamic brothers, sisters, the
- 55:26Christians and the Jews and the Muslims, the true Muslims and
- 55:30the true Jews and Christians of this world will prosper together
- 55:33and we'll celebrate together and coexist.
- 55:35And coexist and, you know, being able to have coherent
- 55:39conversation with people from other faiths is critical.
- 55:42That dialogue, that interfaith, is so important to building that
- 55:45harmonious world that we aspire to live in and that we aspire to
- 55:48create for the awaited Imam. But it needs us to to think on a
- 55:52bigger picture. We're not kids anymore, guys.
- 55:54Like, if you're listening, like, put aside the memes for a second
- 55:58or Call of Duty for a second and like, just think, real talk.
- 56:01Do you know? Like we're.
- 56:02We are. We're we're living in a in a
- 56:04wider society, like we have to build relationships with people.
- 56:07We have to try and make it leave a footprint on this world.
- 56:12And there's a way of doing that. You might call into your local
- 56:16news and change people's opinions.
- 56:19And call into radio and change people's opinions.
- 56:21You might share something online and it might change someone's
- 56:24opinions. Someone said to me on a WhatsApp
- 56:26group yesterday, why would a guy like me share on Instagram?
- 56:30All my followers are Shia. Everyone already knows Bros
- 56:33share it, man. Like, if you don't know, there
- 56:36might be someone out there who doesn't know, or whose heart
- 56:38might they need a reminder? They need a reminder.
- 56:40Their heart might be touched. They might, They might aspire
- 56:42for the cause of justice more. You know so.
- 56:46Yeah, there's a lot of work to do.
- 56:47There really, really is. There is I, I, I I wanted to
- 56:51take one angle in this conversation, by the way, but I
- 56:53refrain from doing so, which was the emotional side, you know,
- 56:56being a father. And I'm sure a lot of people can
- 56:58relate who are fathers or mothers or who has, you know,
- 57:00siblings or little brothers and sisters.
- 57:02Well like some things that you see and the and the footage that
- 57:05comes out is just unbelievable and I words cannot express the
- 57:11the disbelief and shock that I that I've seen.
- 57:16And Charlotte is a conversation that we will stop having one day
- 57:19and we pray that this all ends. But I think the best way to end
- 57:23off this conversation is inshallah with Dial Farage.
- 57:44We will see. You soon.
- 57:56Don't go anywhere. Stay tuned and we'll be back
- 57:59soon. Thanks for tuning in.
- 58:01See you soon.
