- 0:01Hey, everyone, and welcome back to the Eye Opener Society. We really want to
- 0:06thank you for coming here.
- 0:08You have me, Gary. You have me, Hannah. What's up?
- 0:11We are trying to get a lot of stuff out here for this month,
- 0:16and I want to get right into the show.
- 0:18But really, before we do that, I just want to let everybody know.
- 0:22I know we've done a couple episodes already, but this is Suicide Awareness Month. month.
- 0:27And I don't really like that because we should be aware of this stuff all the
- 0:31time. And I don't think we should have just a month of it. Yeah.
- 0:34I mean, definitely. I think it's a cool, not necessarily a cool thing.
- 0:37I don't want to word it that way, but I think it's nice that,
- 0:41you know, there's a month where, you know, there's activities and,
- 0:44you know, things that people can do to bring awareness.
- 0:46But I definitely think it's something that we should be aware of every day.
- 0:50Yeah, definitely. But since it is suicide awareness month, let's all take a moment right now.
- 0:56And remember the number is 988.
- 0:59If you're feeling overwhelmed, if you need somebody to talk to,
- 1:03to get you through something, dial 988.
- 1:07They can help you. And if you don't feel like talking, if it bothers you to
- 1:11talk, you may text as well, 988.
- 1:15I'm so glad they came out with a very simple, easy number.
- 1:18Don't forget, you can always dial 911 too. If you really find yourself in a
- 1:21crisis, He says, don't be afraid. Take the steps.
- 1:25You are important. You are remembered. You are loved.
- 1:29Everybody needs to remember this. All right.
- 1:32So if you are, you know, having any kind of a crisis, don't feel afraid to reach out.
- 1:38Dial 988 for help.
- 1:41All right. So everybody, again, Suicide Awareness Monthbook.
- 1:44You know, Hannah and I, we always make people aware of this anyway,
- 1:48regardless of the month, regardless of the day. Because sometimes I think you wait too long.
- 1:53You know, if you wait until September to, you know, help somebody out, it could be too late.
- 1:58So, you know, keep an eye on your friends, your family, people,
- 2:02you know, make sure everybody's doing okay.
- 2:04So I wanted to get that out of the way. We have a lot going on.
- 2:09I am releasing this show very early on Monday.
- 2:13And the reason I'm doing that is because we have a contest going on. What?
- 2:18Yeah, this is a first that we've ever done. And I really do apologize if you're
- 2:22not following us on social media, Facebook, on our group page,
- 2:28you're going to miss out.
- 2:29So that's why I wanted to get this episode released nice and early because it's exactly 5 p.m.
- 2:36On monday which is now what what's monday's date that this is.
- 2:41That's a very it's the 19th so
- 2:4520 21 22 23rd the 23rd yeah i'm i have no timeline so i do apologize but the
- 2:5223rd monday the 23rd that's the date that this podcast is released and so if
- 2:56you're listening to this podcast as it gets released we're doing a contest on
- 3:02facebook um elaine from Arcane Oracle,
- 3:05we decided to try this little giveaway.
- 3:09Basically, she's going to do a free 20-minute tarot reading.
- 3:13It's a prize worth 25 bucks, man.
- 3:16But it's really cool because Elaine gives you the full 20 minutes.
- 3:19Ask as many questions as you want during that 20 minutes.
- 3:24So you got to be on our Facebook page, our group page, actually, at exactly 5 p.m.
- 3:30Eastern Standard time today we're going
- 3:33to release the question it's going to be one question and it's going
- 3:36to be as a post and the first
- 3:39person who answers it correctly will win
- 3:42the prize it's that simple that's it's as simple as that so i wanted everybody
- 3:45to get a chance to do it that's why this episode is going to be released as
- 3:48early as possible this way people have a little bit of time to find us on social
- 3:53media on facebook eye opener society and on our group page so that's it um Let's
- 3:59jump into the show, Hannah. Yeah. Come on.
- 4:01So this is something I know we are going to probably bring up again,
- 4:06and we've brought it up in the past, and we're probably going to bring it up
- 4:09with Monica Susanna, who,
- 4:12by the way, I want to give a big shout out to her because I know she wasn't
- 4:15feeling well. She was in the hospital.
- 4:17Monica Susanna, many, many blessings to you. I hope that you're feeling well.
- 4:22I hope you're coming back strong.
- 4:25Don't like to hear the bad news. So get yourself healthy. Get yourself well.
- 4:28Well so monica suzanna is from tik radio and
- 4:31we're going to be doing some collaborations with her come
- 4:35november which is going to be coming up really soon so i just wanted to bring
- 4:39this up to on her show as well but i'm going to bring it up real quick now so
- 4:43what got me started on this um following some musicians and all right and comments
- 4:50on theirs and the ratings and people You're like,
- 4:53oh, rate this album, rate this song, rate this.
- 4:56And I wanted to kind of put this into perspective on a, you know,
- 5:02a mental and a metaphysical plane.
- 5:06Subjective things are music podcasts. You know, why are we reading that?
- 5:13Why do we care what somebody else thinks or feels about it, their opinion on it?
- 5:18Yeah. four stars five stars on this
- 5:21song you know or this podcast or whatever it's getting
- 5:25to the point because what happens the bands you know want you to rate this here
- 5:29stuff and then it starts arguments oh we can't believe you listen to this crap
- 5:33and all i had to step back and take a moment i said because even in our own
- 5:38podcast community you know we're always looking for ratings it helps better our shows.
- 5:42But we create so much stress within ourselves and so much self-judgment,
- 5:50I don't care about ratings. I really don't. I don't care if nobody ever rates
- 5:54the show. All we care is that people listen, that enjoy listening.
- 5:57That's all I want. So if somebody doesn't like the show, I don't want them listening
- 6:00either unless they want to.
- 6:03When we set ratings, it's basically just somebody else's opinion.
- 6:08If 5 million people enjoyed a piece of artwork, a piece of music,
- 6:12or a podcast, but one person said, oh, I hate it.
- 6:16Why does anybody care what that person thinks or vice versa?
- 6:19Yeah. You get what I'm saying? I understand 100%.
- 6:22I mean, I think that as far as, you know, with me, how I look at it is,
- 6:29is that like, it could be like a restaurant and like seven people could be like one star, don't go here.
- 6:35But what if I want to give that restaurant like a try and I go and I'm like,
- 6:40holy shit, this is five stars to me.
- 6:42So why are we allowing our opinions or, you know, why are we not taking our
- 6:49own chances based off of other people's opinions and feedback?
- 6:53Because, I mean, I understand that you value other people's opinions,
- 6:57but at the same time, at the end of the day, your opinion should be the one that you value the most.
- 7:03Yeah, that's perfectly said. And I haven't even thought about like,
- 7:06you know, restaurants, but yeah, there are a lot of restaurants.
- 7:08Now it's one thing if 9,000 people say that the service absolutely sucked,
- 7:12you know, I mean, you kind of play into that.
- 7:15But I did have that discussion too, where.
- 7:19If we're talking about businesses, it's a little bit different because,
- 7:22yeah, you want to make sure businesses are following customer service and all that.
- 7:26So I can understand that, but I'm talking subjective stuff.
- 7:30And yeah, restaurants, as far as food is concerned, that's taste buds and everybody's
- 7:34taste buds are individual.
- 7:36And it just goes the same for music and podcasts for me as well. all.
- 7:40I just think that I'm not going to sit there and, you know, well,
- 7:43I've always just been like an artist, not even an artistic like person,
- 7:46but music has always been a thing for me. So there's not something that I won't give a shot.
- 7:51I've never been closed minded with it, but it goes the same for me as far as music.
- 7:557,000 people could be like, this sucks, but I'm not going to value your opinion.
- 8:00I'm going to take the time and form my own opinion because at the end of the day,
- 8:04it's my opinion and i might like it i don't care if 7 000 people
- 8:07ate it you know yeah for sure
- 8:10i it's like pieces of artwork sculptures
- 8:13and stuff you know you could look at
- 8:16it this is a pile of crap but there
- 8:19are some people that are going to look at it and see the meaning behind it especially
- 8:22if the artist put so much into it it's again
- 8:26these ratings that we are doing it's pretty
- 8:29intense i think and we do we
- 8:33start to criticize ourselves and i
- 8:37think that's where the problem comes in with
- 8:40our own mental health and you know we sit there and start worrying now oh i
- 8:44have you know if you're a first-time musician you're putting your music out
- 8:48there you're sitting there waiting for the feedback now it's good you really
- 8:52want to know what people are you know hey okay maybe not that many people like
- 8:55the song but again that's subjective it's your Your artwork,
- 8:59you wish and you hope that people enjoy it, but sometimes people just don't.
- 9:04But you're going to find, too, that there's so many people that do enjoy it. Yeah.
- 9:08And that's what you really need to worry about. You don't need to worry about all the negativity.
- 9:12It brings me just like instead of the ratings, the comments.
- 9:16Why do people got to comment on everything in a negative way and then start?
- 9:21Bites in the comments sections. These are the things I know we,
- 9:24you and I, we spoke about this plenty of times, but it's coming to that point.
- 9:29Now, the reason I really got into this discussion, um, is a certain package
- 9:35delivery company out there. Um, it rhymes with Amazon.
- 9:39Uh, the, uh, the, um, lately what they do now is after they delivered a package,
- 9:47you get the text saying, Hey, your package delivered is delivered. Delivered.
- 9:51Tell us how we did. Rate us. Well, you have one job.
- 9:56Why am I going to get four stars? Oh, my God, they left a package at my door.
- 10:02That's what you're supposed to do. Why am I going to rate somebody four stars?
- 10:05Because then they're going to show up tomorrow and they're not going to deliver
- 10:08the package. They're going to deliver it down to the neighbor's house.
- 10:11That's when I'm going to say something and it's not going to be in ratings.
- 10:13I'm going to call the company directly, bitch them out for doing the wrong thing.
- 10:18I'm not so concerned with everybody else's and their ratings.
- 10:22If I have to utilize a service, they had just better provide what they're providing.
- 10:27That's all. I don't sit there and listen to ratings all the time.
- 10:31I don't, you know, if you're a roofer, that's your one job.
- 10:36I don't need to rate you doing your roofing. But if you do a messed up job,
- 10:40I'm going to deal with the company directly.
- 10:43I don't need the whole world to know about it because, again,
- 10:46it may be just my roof they screwed up and everybody else's was fine.
- 10:50You know, I'm going to counter that real quick.
- 10:53Go for it. Hell yeah. I 110% agree with you.
- 10:56But me as a person, if I try and exhaust all options with a company to make something right,
- 11:06and I'm like ghosted or they're just not willing to work with me,
- 11:11I'm putting your ass on blast.
- 11:14110%. I just recently seen this poor girl that I went to school with.
- 11:20I have her on my Facebook still.
- 11:22And she got a pool installed.
- 11:25Highly recommended company. All this like whole nine or whatever.
- 11:31And, you know, they had, I don't know how they happened this,
- 11:34but like any like negative review that they did have was like hidden.
- 11:38So I don't know how that went about. But, I mean, I wish, I hope now that they're
- 11:43still available. but had a pool installed.
- 11:45Her and her husband and they brought their two kids in the pool and what do
- 11:51you know? They get in the pool and you know, you're,
- 11:54Like, you know, the water's going up and down and up and down.
- 11:57The pool collapsed with all four of them inside.
- 11:59And then they refused to make it right.
- 12:03So they went on Facebook, blast, and then everyone just blast.
- 12:08And then you know what happened? It got the company to respond back and make
- 12:13it right. And sometimes that needs to happen.
- 12:15And you know what's weird, too? That shouldn't be the way to get a company to respond.
- 12:22And that's where we're relying so much now on social media that businesses will
- 12:27refuse to make things right unless you blast them on social media.
- 12:31I mean, listen, I've done the same thing. Sometimes it really does get to the
- 12:35point where you've been so wronged and you've been patient and you tried everything.
- 12:41That's your last resort. And there's nothing wrong with that.
- 12:45But these, again, these are companies. companies but when
- 12:48we go back to what i was talking about when it comes to subjective material
- 12:51we should not be worried about ratings we shouldn't be putting that sort of
- 12:57stress on everything because everybody's ears are different everybody's taste
- 13:01buds are different everybody's you know all processes are different yeah absolutely
- 13:07you know i don't like my fellow podcast is i love you
- 13:11all and if there's a podcast i do not like i
- 13:14just don't listen to it and that's all i don't understand why
- 13:17you have to put your two cents because now your ego
- 13:21comes into play yeah and that's only your ego you want the whole world to know
- 13:25that your opinion is better than everybody else's opinion that's what happens
- 13:30with these ratings and these comments and you know rate us four stars raise
- 13:35five i don't want to read anybody if i like you i want to listen to you i want to
- 13:39listen to the song i want to listen to the music i don't want to create arguments
- 13:43with strangers because you don't like the same type of music that i do or whatever
- 13:47that's where i come into this whole thing that's why i wanted to mention it
- 13:53we are failing again as people.
- 13:56Um if hannah and i here you know had
- 13:59two totally different ideas on music and we
- 14:02just sat here arguing over which we do like you know
- 14:05like we we do like we like some similar stuff but like i like a lot of different
- 14:10things that gary's like i can't get down with this and i'm like all right that's
- 14:13okay but we don't sit here and argue like if we literally let's say we had a
- 14:17podcast where you're gonna say this is my type of music this is my and then
- 14:20we sit here and argue i think that'll It'll be the worst type of conversation.
- 14:23Yeah. It'll be so egotistical because they'll be like saying,
- 14:26oh, my music means more because my opinion means more and yours means more.
- 14:31That's why I don't take that kind of ratings for subjective stuff.
- 14:37I just don't. I appreciate what I listen to and I appreciate what anybody else listens to.
- 14:43If I don't like it, I just simply don't listen to it. I think it honestly goes
- 14:48back to say like, you know, and I've said this hundreds of times,
- 14:50I feel like on the podcast, but it's if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say it at all.
- 14:56I understand you have an opinion and you have free speech, but if it's not your
- 15:01cup of tea, it's not your cup of tea. You don't have to release that negativity
- 15:04in the world because someone might be an easily influenced person where they
- 15:09value others' opinions too much.
- 15:11So they might not be giving a podcast or a song or anything a chance just because
- 15:16they're too not confident enough to make their own decision about something.
- 15:22So just allow people the courtesy of forming their own opinions on things that they listen to or try.
- 15:30Yeah, that's a really good point. And I think people kind of miss that.
- 15:34And I think that's really where I wanted to hit home with. Yeah.
- 15:37There are people, yeah, that are struggling in life. One song may be the only
- 15:42thing keeping them holding on.
- 15:43And then if people keep telling them, how horrible that song is, how can you listen to it?
- 15:47You lose all of your own faith again, all of your own confidence again.
- 15:52And then you start to question, well, why am I listening to this?
- 15:54That is completely wrong.
- 15:56Keep listening to what you listen to. to keep appreciating whatever it is you appreciate.
- 16:01Other people's opinions are just that. Their opinions, they're attached to the ego.
- 16:06They don't belong in everybody else's heads.
- 16:09Yeah. They don't. We need to step back again, realize that we're all part of the world together.
- 16:15And that's the only way we're going to get along together. It's simple as that.
- 16:19We don't have to listen to the same songs. We don't. We really don't.
- 16:23But we do need to just learn to keep our mouths shut when we need to keep them shut.
- 16:28Same thing with the ratings, same thing with the comments. You know,
- 16:31hey, it's great to say, hey, listen, you're doing a great job. It's perfect.
- 16:34But if you really hate the show, if you really hate a song, if you really hate
- 16:39food, that's fine. But the whole world don't want to hear it.
- 16:42Stop dragging the rest of the world down with you.
- 16:46Let's start picking things up. That's all I ask. So that's what I wanted to
- 16:50touch on. We didn't want to bring a very long, boring show.
- 16:53Like I said, we're trying to keep things upbeat from here on in.
- 16:56I want to mention a few things. I believe September 22nd and 23rd,
- 17:02Urban Lady Prepper, I'm sure you heard us mention her. She was on our show.
- 17:07We had a great time with her. Hannah and I- We were on her show.
- 17:11That was really exciting, really fun.
- 17:13We did just ramble on on our show so much. We had such a good time.
- 17:18We didn't even realize how long we were going. So that's why she's releasing
- 17:21too. She had to do a two-part episode.
- 17:23So I really wanted to keep it you know
- 17:26for her sake for her show i wanted to keep but we just did we
- 17:29really connect and we had a great time yeah
- 17:32and you know it didn't help like this is my first time you
- 17:35know being acclimated with her um when we had her on our show it wasn't me so
- 17:40it was it just kind of went on and on and on you know and it was really interested
- 17:44in like you know i was interested in talking to her and you know she was interested
- 17:48in talking to me and of course gary again but it just went on and it was great. It was a good show.
- 17:52And we're hoping that you guys tune into that.
- 17:55Yeah. So that's urban lady prepper. Check her out. She's on pod bean as well.
- 17:59And besides the podcast, she
- 18:02also has a website with blogs and she does a lot of writing too, as well.
- 18:07Very, very multifaceted person. And she's really great. And I hope she continues
- 18:11on because she's doing really, really well.
- 18:14Um, I also want everybody to, if you are listening to us on Podbean, that's great.
- 18:21We're on all platforms. So it doesn't matter what you are listening to us on, but me,
- 18:26Beginning October 13th, every Sunday night at 7 p.m. Eastern time,
- 18:31I'm going to have a live radio show.
- 18:34It's going to be called the Eye Opener Society Relaxing Radio.
- 18:37And it's just going to be me sitting there talking to you. And we're just going
- 18:40to have a good time sharing stories, learning how to relax, learn a little bit
- 18:44about meditation, learn a little bit about mindfulness.
- 18:47It's really, I always pick Sunday night because we always hate Sunday night
- 18:52because we've got to go to work for the rest of the week. So join us.
- 18:56The only way you could join us, though, is on Podbean. You don't have to download
- 19:00the app unless you want to actually join in on the show.
- 19:03If you want to make comments to us and talk or actually get on the air with
- 19:07me, then you'll have to have Podbean. But if not, if you just go to eyeopenersociety.podbean.com,
- 19:15there is a link at the top of our page.
- 19:18And there's also next to our podcast, there's also a link for the live show.
- 19:24If you just want to get in there and follow us. And again, that's going to be
- 19:28October 13th, live relaxing radio with me.
- 19:31Hannah may join me. It all depends on her availability.
- 19:34And I may have some other guests come in and all. It's just going to be a good
- 19:38time. A really relaxing time.
- 19:40With all of you, the fans, if you should choose to join me.
- 19:44So I also wanted to mention again, Arcane Oracle today, the day this podcast
- 19:51is being released, I want you to jump on social media, Eye Opener Society, go to our group page,
- 19:585 p.m. Eastern Standard Time.
- 20:01We're going to have a contest. Listen to her podcast.
- 20:05Definitely, Arcane Oracle podcast. She done so good.
- 20:08The month's almost over, so that means we're going to have the October one coming up really soon.
- 20:12So get ready for that. She does all the tarot readings for all of your birth
- 20:16signs, you know, alongside of your horoscopes, too, as well.
- 20:20And, you know, coming up, we're going to have October spooky and we're going
- 20:25to have Anne Lund's show. Yes. On Halloween.
- 20:30I'm so excited for that. Haunted and Waiting podcast. You know,
- 20:34she's a blogger. We love her. She's the best.
- 20:38So, yeah, we're looking forward to that. It's going to be a good month.
- 20:41Yeah, definitely. Yeah.
- 20:42Ann Lund, she's going to do the Ann Lund haunted and waiting blog podcast.
- 20:47And that's going to be Halloween, October 31st. Uh, I, she contacted me the
- 20:52other night and she said, she's getting started on it.
- 20:55So I can't wait for that. I know she's going to do something fantastic.
- 20:58And also our dear friend sunset child. Oh man.
- 21:02I listen sunset child. She's my new favorite. Uh, she does the out there podcast.
- 21:08If you haven't listened to that yet, um, please do. I know it's out there for sure.
- 21:13But the more you stick to it, she's going to keep going and there's going to
- 21:17be more explanations and all that.
- 21:19Yeah. I still love it. Yeah. We just have such a good thing going right now and it's going amazing.
- 21:26And we are just beyond blessed to have expanded and bring you guys more content.
- 21:33That we just personally like enjoy, you know, it's out there,
- 21:36it's unique, it's different and it keeps everything alive.
- 21:39It does. I really, I just appreciate it because these are very good people.
- 21:43They are. I know they have a voice and I feel they should have a platform and
- 21:47I don't want them to have all the stresses of doing it on their own.
- 21:50So all they got to do is bring me the audio and they've done so well.
