- 0:42Speaker 2: Every Friday at eight thirty.
- 0:45Speaker 1: And that's the whole point of this show, isn't it,
- 0:47Speaker 1: Neil to make an ass out of me?
- 0:49Speaker 2: Yes, sir, that's yeah.
- 0:50Speaker 1: Matter of fact, somehow we should title that on the show. Okay,
- 0:55Speaker 1: Rich Tomorrow It is Tuesday, rich on Tech every Saturday
- 0:59Speaker 1: right here am to two pm. Is on KTLA TV
- 1:03Speaker 1: every morning, Instagram at rich on Tech website, Richontech dot
- 1:07Speaker 1: tv and Happy Tuesday, Rich, Good.
- 1:11Speaker 3: Morning, Happy Tuesday to you. I'm surprised you didn't say
- 1:15Speaker 3: taco Tuesday.
- 1:16Speaker 2: I generally do say taco Tuesday. By the way, I
- 1:20Speaker 2: just missed out.
- 1:21Speaker 1: Yeah today, it's only eighty percent of the time that
- 1:24Speaker 1: I've been saying taco Tuesday. So I humbly apologize that
- 1:28Speaker 1: I didn't say it. Starting with this segment, Okay, we
- 1:31Speaker 1: got a lot of stuff to cover, and hope we
- 1:33Speaker 1: get to as many of them as we can.
- 1:37Speaker 2: Let's start. The most controversial gadget you have ever tested.
- 1:42Speaker 3: This one's wild. This is called b It's a fifty
- 1:46Speaker 3: dollars wristband, and it basically listens to your day and
- 1:52Speaker 3: captures that audio, transcribes it, and uses AI to come
- 1:56Speaker 3: up with insights, to come up with patterns, to come
- 2:00Speaker 3: up with facts about you, to do lists, I mean,
- 2:03Speaker 3: all kinds of stuff. It's kind of like a if
- 2:06Speaker 3: you had a personal assistant that walked around with you
- 2:08Speaker 3: all day and just took notes and the app but
- 2:13Speaker 3: it's all there, yeah analyzes, so it's wow.
- 2:16Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 2:16Speaker 1: So if you so, if you're you get religion during
- 2:19Speaker 1: the day in the evening and you're screaming oh God,
- 2:22Speaker 1: oh God at the top of your lungs, uh, that
- 2:25Speaker 1: will be analyzed, correct.
- 2:28Speaker 3: Yes, it will be. Yeah, you should maybe take this
- 2:32Speaker 3: thing off if if you're you're practicing your religion. It's
- 2:36Speaker 3: called b by the way, and this is a company.
- 2:38Speaker 2: It was a startup.
- 2:39Speaker 3: Amazon bought them shortly after they were created, so now
- 2:42Speaker 3: it's owned by Amazon. They call it an ambient AI
- 2:46Speaker 3: computing band. So it looks like a Fitbit basically, it's
- 2:49Speaker 3: really small. I wore it for a couple of weeks
- 2:52Speaker 3: and uh, you know it's kind of and you're the
- 2:54Speaker 3: lawyer here, but you know it's listening. So a lot
- 2:57Speaker 3: of people have emailed me and said, Rich, this is
- 2:59Speaker 3: legal in California. You can't. It's a two party consense state.
- 3:03Speaker 3: Amazon says that this is actually not recording. It's it's
- 3:07Speaker 3: capturing whatever that like, the audio is not saved, so
- 3:11Speaker 3: it's I just found it really fascinating. I don't know
- 3:14Speaker 3: if I want to wear this thing long term because
- 3:16Speaker 3: it does capture everything.
- 3:17Speaker 2: Yeah, that is an interesting legal issue. I love that.
- 3:21Speaker 2: Is it for sale?
- 3:22Speaker 1: Now?
- 3:22Speaker 2: Is it out there?
- 3:24Speaker 3: Yeah? It's for sales. Fifty bucks the battery last two
- 3:26Speaker 3: all right?
- 3:27Speaker 2: Us said, that's I mean that's not very much money.
- 3:30Speaker 1: Okay, let's let's keep on going there's a trial and
- 3:35Speaker 1: we talked about this before, but it's going on right
- 3:40Speaker 1: now in Los Angeles, and this is huge, I mean
- 3:43Speaker 1: it's not being covered enough. And that is the addiction
- 3:46Speaker 1: trial where all the major platforms basically are being sued
- 3:51Speaker 1: because kids are addicted and they're planning it. I mean,
- 3:56Speaker 1: they're programming their platforms. So what's going on with that?
- 4:00Speaker 3: Ye? Right, Well, that's the question they're trying to figure
- 4:03Speaker 3: out in the court of law here in Los Angeles.
- 4:06Speaker 3: So the defendants right now are Meta, which owns Facebook
- 4:09Speaker 3: and Instagram, and then Google's YouTube which a lot of
- 4:11Speaker 3: kids watch what's called YouTube shorts, that's their version of TikTok.
- 4:15Speaker 3: TikTok and Snap actually already settled right before the trial started,
- 4:19Speaker 3: so we don't know what they settled for, how much
- 4:22Speaker 3: they settle. But the plaintiff here is a twenty year
- 4:25Speaker 3: old woman who says she became addicted to these platforms
- 4:27Speaker 3: as a teenager. She developed anxiety depression, body dysmorphia, and
- 4:33Speaker 3: her lawyers say that it was all because these apps
- 4:35Speaker 3: are designed to keep you scrolling. They use all kinds
- 4:38Speaker 3: of hacks and tricks to just get capture attention. And
- 4:41Speaker 3: never let it go. Meanwhile, YouTube and Meta deny all
- 4:45Speaker 3: of this, of course, as they would as they are
- 4:47Speaker 3: big companies. They say that no, it's not their apps
- 4:50Speaker 3: that caused all these things for her, it's her family
- 4:53Speaker 3: trauma that caused it all. And so now this is
- 4:56Speaker 3: the first big test case. And if this woman wins
- 5:00Speaker 3: basically as I understand it, there would it would open
- 5:03Speaker 3: the floodgates for thousands of other similar cases across the US,
- 5:07Speaker 3: which might trigger, you know, some sort of class action
- 5:09Speaker 3: or something like that.
- 5:10Speaker 1: I can't imagine this would be a class action lawsuit.
- 5:14Speaker 1: It couldn't even begin to think that it would not be.
- 5:17Speaker 1: And the as you said, the settlement of those two
- 5:21Speaker 1: big ones, and they never talk about the amount of
- 5:24Speaker 1: money that settled, or admitting liability or any of it.
- 5:28Speaker 1: It has to be in the billions and billions of
- 5:31Speaker 1: dollars that the settlement has already happened. It almost reminds
- 5:34Speaker 1: me of the big tobacco That settlement was I think
- 5:39Speaker 1: over one hundred billion dollars, and the pharma industry with
- 5:44Speaker 1: fall with the Purdue leading the leading the list of defendants,
- 5:50Speaker 1: and that went for set I don't even know how much.
- 5:54Speaker 2: It went for one hundred and something billion dollars.
- 5:56Speaker 1: I mean, it's and the number of plaintiffs as astronomical
- 5:59Speaker 1: as you said, this is going to just explode in
- 6:02Speaker 1: terms of these lawsuits to the point where these companies
- 6:05Speaker 1: are going to take a really good hit, a big hit,
- 6:09Speaker 1: and they not.
- 6:10Speaker 3: Just a hit, but yeah, they got to they got
- 6:12Speaker 3: to think about, you know, their actions in the future.
- 6:15Speaker 3: But you know how they design these apps, so how
- 6:17Speaker 3: you know, are they addictive? Do they are they a
- 6:19Speaker 3: little mini slot machine in your pocket? You know? Are
- 6:21Speaker 3: they are they targeting kids? And I think Bill, you
- 6:25Speaker 3: can comment on this more. I think it really comes
- 6:27Speaker 3: down to the jury here is is there I assume
- 6:30Speaker 3: there's a jury in this case, but it comes down
- 6:32Speaker 3: to you know, if anyone has kids and they've seen
- 6:35Speaker 3: the effect that these apps and services have on their children,
- 6:39Speaker 3: or their grandkids or any kids, or their teacher, they
- 6:43Speaker 3: know that they do hook kids in and these kids
- 6:45Speaker 3: cannot escape it. Some adults can't escape it. So I
- 6:48Speaker 3: think that that is the big question here is you know,
- 6:51Speaker 3: who in the world is going to say that these
- 6:53Speaker 3: apps are not designed to keep you going forever until
- 6:57Speaker 3: your eyeballs fall out of your head.
- 6:58Speaker 1: Like I say, by the way, wait just a personal note,
- 7:01Speaker 1: And I don't know if you can make the prediction
- 7:03Speaker 1: be you being a new person. Do you believe that
- 7:06Speaker 1: those those apps are designed to grab kids?
- 7:12Speaker 3: There's not even a doubt in my mind. Now is
- 7:14Speaker 3: it written on paper bill like in the emails between
- 7:17Speaker 3: Zuckerberg and you know, his staff saying hey make this
- 7:20Speaker 3: more addictive?
- 7:20Speaker 2: Probably not.
- 7:22Speaker 3: But if you don't think that these companies are sitting
- 7:24Speaker 3: there trying to figure out a way to make these
- 7:27Speaker 3: apps stickier than the other one, it's just there's no
- 7:30Speaker 3: number one. From a business standpoint, that's what you want.
- 7:32Speaker 3: They're not sitting here saying how can we protect kids?
- 7:35Speaker 3: They only protect kids when the law tells them they
- 7:37Speaker 3: have to, or they're worried about the law telling them
- 7:40Speaker 3: they have to.
- 7:41Speaker 1: Right Rich, chat GPT where you go to is now
- 7:48Speaker 1: well you may start seeing ads saying here is the question. Normally,
- 7:52Speaker 1: don't they make enough money simply by data mining selling
- 7:57Speaker 1: information about people that come in to chat GPT?
- 8:02Speaker 2: Uh?
- 8:02Speaker 1: Is it ever enough money? Or does everything have to
- 8:05Speaker 1: go to ads?
- 8:06Speaker 2: Also?
- 8:08Speaker 3: Uh, everything has to go to ads? Because CHATCHYBT at
- 8:11Speaker 3: this point is not data mining. They're not selling the
- 8:14Speaker 3: information they gather so far. They primarily make their money
- 8:18Speaker 3: right now through their API, which means big companies license
- 8:22Speaker 3: their their information, you know, and their and their their
- 8:26Speaker 3: AI in general. And then of course the users that
- 8:29Speaker 3: pay a lot of people pay big bucks to access
- 8:32Speaker 3: chatchybt and so that's been the primary way. But here's
- 8:35Speaker 3: the thing. They know that this is expensive. This is
- 8:38Speaker 3: not a I mean, technically open ai I think is
- 8:41Speaker 3: still a nonprofit. But they're you know, they're in it
- 8:44Speaker 3: for the investors, which have put a lot of money
- 8:46Speaker 3: into open ai. So they need to turn a profit
- 8:49Speaker 3: and the way to do that is to squeeze the
- 8:51Speaker 3: people that are using this for free. So if you
- 8:54Speaker 3: are on chat gybt for free, at this point, you
- 8:56Speaker 3: may start to see ads underneath your I call them
- 9:00Speaker 3: search results, but I guess it's just your answers on
- 9:03Speaker 3: chat gbt. So this is rolling out starting today. If
- 9:07Speaker 3: you are on a free plan, if you're on the
- 9:09Speaker 3: plan where you're paying eight dollars a month with which
- 9:12Speaker 3: they just introduced, you're also going to pay or you're
- 9:14Speaker 3: also going to see ads. So bottom line, you're going
- 9:16Speaker 3: to start to see ads CHATTYBT is doing it in
- 9:18Speaker 3: a way bill where they say it's going to be private.
- 9:21Speaker 3: They're not sharing your data with the advertisers, they're not
- 9:23Speaker 3: sharing your chats with the advertisers, and they're keeping everything
- 9:26Speaker 3: in a separate kind of section of the app. But
- 9:29Speaker 3: you'll see it'll say sponsored.
- 9:31Speaker 2: At what time?
- 9:32Speaker 1: Or in your opinion, do you think that chat gpt
- 9:37Speaker 1: is going to not only sell ads, have ads, but
- 9:41Speaker 1: also sell to the data mining organizations and to license
- 9:46Speaker 1: itself to the majors.
- 9:48Speaker 2: I hit all three of them.
- 9:50Speaker 3: I mean yeah, I mean, here's the deal. We know
- 9:53Speaker 3: that people are using these AI chatbots for everything. There
- 9:57Speaker 3: is a treasure trove of information about trends, what people
- 10:02Speaker 3: are interested in, what people are looking at, what are
- 10:05Speaker 3: they researching, and that includes products, services, ailments, whatever you
- 10:10Speaker 3: can imagine. So the data that they are sitting on
- 10:13Speaker 3: is huge. It is It is the new kind of
- 10:16Speaker 3: you know, the new thought system of America. Like everything
- 10:19Speaker 3: that's that we're thinking is inside CHATCHBT. It used to
- 10:21Speaker 3: be Google and it still is to a certain extent.
- 10:24Speaker 3: Obviously people are still using that, but you know they
- 10:27Speaker 3: have the ability to monetize that in various ways. I
- 10:31Speaker 3: think it depends on this company and the way that
- 10:33Speaker 3: they want to respect the people that are using it
- 10:35Speaker 3: to decide how do they want to proceed, because it
- 10:38Speaker 3: only takes a small misstep for them to go down
- 10:42Speaker 3: the lines of a Facebook or a Meta where people
- 10:45Speaker 3: don't trust them anymore. So you have to be very,
- 10:47Speaker 3: very careful. And right now they're still building their business,
- 10:50Speaker 3: so they're going to tread carefully, I think.
- 10:52Speaker 2: Okay.
- 10:52Speaker 1: The last one, Weaimo is admitting that humans sometimes take over.
- 10:56Speaker 2: You go, wait a minute, those Weimo cars, there's nobody
- 10:58Speaker 2: in them to drive. How does that work? Okay?
- 11:02Speaker 3: This I thought was wild because we know that Weimo
- 11:05Speaker 3: says their software they call it the most experienced driver
- 11:08Speaker 3: in the world. They've logged many, many millions of miles autonomously.
- 11:12Speaker 3: But they just admitted in a Senate hearing that some
- 11:16Speaker 3: of it's robotaxis actually phone a friend when they need help,
- 11:20Speaker 3: and the friend is in the Philippines. These are workers
- 11:23Speaker 3: that are not necessarily driving the cars, but they basically
- 11:26Speaker 3: help the cars figure out when they run into an
- 11:30Speaker 3: odd situation like a construction zone or like a traffic pattern,
- 11:34Speaker 3: and that's what happens. So the operator looked through the
- 11:37Speaker 3: car's sensors and video feeds and tell it how to
- 11:40Speaker 3: do it. So it's kind of interesting because we always
- 11:43Speaker 3: thought that weimo's were fully autonomous. Now we're learning through
- 11:47Speaker 3: this Senate hearing that they may not be.
- 11:49Speaker 2: Wow and the Philippines do those operators in the Philippines
- 11:54Speaker 2: sing karaoke while they're doing this.
- 11:57Speaker 3: I don't know what they're doing, but the reality is
- 12:00Speaker 3: the senators were wondering about the distance between the car
- 12:04Speaker 3: and the operator because clearly there's not much latency if
- 12:08Speaker 3: they can be operating from remote of a distance that long.
- 12:12Speaker 3: By the way, there is a car service in Las
- 12:16Speaker 3: Vegas called vey Vay, and what they do is they
- 12:20Speaker 3: make no bones about it. They're driving their cars remotely.
- 12:24Speaker 3: And so Bill, instead of getting an Uber, you would,
- 12:27Speaker 3: let's say you need a rental car or a ride somewhere. Okay,
- 12:30Speaker 3: they will drive this car autonomously to your house, pick
- 12:34Speaker 3: you up, drive you to wherever you need to go,
- 12:37Speaker 3: and then pick up the next person. And the person
- 12:39Speaker 3: that's driving this car is remotely driving. So imagine your
- 12:41Speaker 3: Uber driver is sitting in an office building with a
- 12:44Speaker 3: bunch of computer monitors and a steering wheel in front
- 12:48Speaker 3: of them.
- 12:48Speaker 2: Okay, and that's the company called Oivy. Do I have
- 12:51Speaker 2: that right.
- 12:53Speaker 3: I think it's just Vey, but I think it was
- 12:55Speaker 3: inspired by oive So you might be saying that when
- 12:59Speaker 3: you're in the car.
- 13:00Speaker 1: Yeah, all right, rich we'll talk again next Tuesday.
- 13:04Speaker 2: This weekend eleven am to two pm, rich On.
- 13:08Speaker 1: Tech the segment KTLA every morning Instagram at rich on
- 13:12Speaker 1: Tech website, rich on Tech dot TV.
- 13:15Speaker 2: And we'll catch you next week.
- 13:18Speaker 3: Thanks Bill.
- 13:18Speaker 2: All right, WAMO.
- 13:22Speaker 1: Drivers remote drivers in the Philippines.
- 13:26Speaker 2: Boy, that's news to me. And I'll bet you that
- 13:29Speaker 2: they sing.
- 13:32Speaker 1: Plings nothing more than plings.
- 13:37Speaker 2: Okay, we're done, guys. Now.
- 13:39Speaker 1: The big story, or one of the big stories that
- 13:42Speaker 1: we're following, is the Mark Kelly trial that is going on.
- 13:47Speaker 1: Mark Kelly, of course, the US Senator from Arizona, former
- 13:52Speaker 1: fighter pilot, former astronaut, now a US Senator, got on
- 13:57Speaker 1: the wrong side of Pete.
- 13:58Speaker 2: Hegseth our defense Secretary of Defense.
- 14:01Speaker 1: He calls himself Secretary of War because that's what the President,
- 14:04Speaker 1: of course has asked for.
- 14:07Speaker 2: And he is, needless to say, an a a acolyte
- 14:11Speaker 2: of the first order.
- 14:12Speaker 1: If the President says it it will happen no matter
- 14:15Speaker 1: what jump off a bridge, it happens.
- 14:18Speaker 2: A matter of fact, he's changing his spittle name to Lemming.
- 14:21Speaker 1: Because that's the way to describe a lot of the
- 14:24Speaker 1: president's followers. Anyway, you know the story of Kelly and
- 14:31Speaker 1: five members of Congress who were all in the military,
- 14:38Speaker 1: and they came out with that video saying to the
- 14:41Speaker 1: military people, saying to soldiers, not only do should you
- 14:46Speaker 1: not follow illegal orders and of course referring to Donald
- 14:50Speaker 1: Trump and his various orders, but you cannot follow illegal orders.
- 14:55Speaker 2: Well, HeiG Seth immediately.
- 14:56Speaker 1: Went nuts, of course, and is trying to bring Kelly
- 15:03Speaker 1: to trial. Now, originally it was going to be a
- 15:07Speaker 1: military trial, a court martial, which, by the way, the
- 15:11Speaker 1: Secretary of Defense War can do simply argue that this
- 15:17Speaker 1: is conduct donebecoming and come in with a military trial
- 15:21Speaker 1: to demote him. And this is the punishment, is to
- 15:24Speaker 1: demote Kelly, which means not only his rank is demoted,
- 15:28Speaker 1: but also his retirement pay gets reduced. That's the big one.
- 15:32Speaker 1: That's where you get hit. And originally it was going
- 15:35Speaker 1: to be a tribunal, but it turned out that there
- 15:38Speaker 1: was no chance he was going to win the tribunal
- 15:42Speaker 1: because this is the First Amendment issue. Kelly is retired,
- 15:46Speaker 1: He's no longer in the military. There's never been a
- 15:49Speaker 1: case where a military official or a military person was
- 15:54Speaker 1: brought up to a court martial under these circumstances, and
- 15:57Speaker 1: the general consensus was the Hexas was not going to
- 16:01Speaker 1: win this one.
- 16:02Speaker 2: So instead he.
- 16:03Speaker 1: Moves into an administrative move, which he is allowed to do,
- 16:08Speaker 1: and administratively he is saying, I now can move Kelly
- 16:14Speaker 1: into that position and reduce his pay it's retirement pay,
- 16:21Speaker 1: and reduce his rank. Well, there's a lawsuit.
- 16:23Speaker 2: Of course.
- 16:24Speaker 1: Kelly filed a lawsuit saying, wait a minute, this is
- 16:28Speaker 1: only for political retribution.
- 16:30Speaker 2: That's all it is.
- 16:33Speaker 1: I was simply exercising my First Amendment rights as an
- 16:37Speaker 1: ex soldier.
- 16:38Speaker 2: Why is he liable?
- 16:39Speaker 1: And the other ones are not because he is still
- 16:41Speaker 1: a reservist and so therefore he is under the control
- 16:45Speaker 1: of the Secretary of Defense. The other five are they're
- 16:49Speaker 1: done no retirement, No, they're done, or if they do
- 16:51Speaker 1: have a retirement, they're finished. Not reservists, no longer under
- 16:55Speaker 1: the auspices of the Defense Department. So it's turns out
- 17:00Speaker 1: that Kelly is suing it. I hope he wins, because
- 17:04Speaker 1: heg Seth has said that the reason they're going after
- 17:09Speaker 1: Kelly is because he's a seditionist, because he spoke against
- 17:13Speaker 1: the United States. Donald Trump called him a straight out trader,
- 17:19Speaker 1: and he should be executed for what he said, simply saying,
- 17:27Speaker 1: by the way, this came right out of the Uniform
- 17:32Speaker 1: Military Code. It's right there. The law that controls the
- 17:36Speaker 1: military says that specifically you cannot follow in illegal order.
- 17:41Speaker 1: And what these five congress people and Kelly the Senator
- 17:45Speaker 1: simply parroted what the Code of Military Conduct says. And if, however,
- 17:54Speaker 1: if part of that, if you are saying, if you're
- 17:58Speaker 1: making a statement that so somehow is anti Donald Trump,
- 18:03Speaker 1: and this is no shock, you're a trader. You're a seditionist.
- 18:07Speaker 1: Now I'll tell you who is not a seditionist. Who
- 18:09Speaker 1: is not a trader? January sixth, people that overran the Capitol,
- 18:13Speaker 1: they were patriots.
- 18:14Speaker 2: It was a peaceful demonstration. Exactly.
- 18:17Speaker 1: However, if you say you cannot follow a military order
- 18:20Speaker 1: that is illegal, you are a trader to the United States.
- 18:23Speaker 1: You are a seditionist. And Hegseth just wants to put
- 18:27Speaker 1: him in prison. Well, actually, at this point, Hegseth just
- 18:29Speaker 1: wants to remove his retirement pay or reduce it and
- 18:33Speaker 1: knock him down in rank. It's the president that's going
- 18:37Speaker 1: to the extent that he should be executed.
- 18:42Speaker 2: I mean, it's just it's crazy. So is he moving forward? Yeah?
- 18:46Speaker 1: And here is the issue that the court says, and
- 18:49Speaker 1: I think there's two sides to this, or there's two issues.
- 18:53Speaker 1: Issue Number one is it's clearly retribution. They've said it
- 18:58Speaker 1: on literal literally on the table they put it, this
- 19:02Speaker 1: is retribution because you were anti President Trump. At the
- 19:07Speaker 1: same time, it's an administrative decision by the Defense Department,
- 19:12Speaker 1: and the Court gives administrative decisions wide latitude administrative agencies,
- 19:19Speaker 1: of which the Defense Department is an administrative agency under
- 19:23Speaker 1: the purview of the president. So is the Court going
- 19:27Speaker 1: to say, we are not going to get in the
- 19:29Speaker 1: way of Hegseth's decision could be And if it goes
- 19:34Speaker 1: up to the Supreme Court incidentally, which a very well might,
- 19:37Speaker 1: I think the Supreme Court is going to give it
- 19:39Speaker 1: to the administration because they've given the administration ninety percent
- 19:43Speaker 1: of what they've asked for, expanding the powers of the
- 19:46Speaker 1: executive so it's it's pretty depressing stuff. As far as
- 19:51Speaker 1: I'm concerned.
- 19:52Speaker 2: I just I'm having a hard time with all of
- 19:57Speaker 2: that for sure.
- 19:59Speaker 1: Okay, Now, California, as you know, we have a super
- 20:03Speaker 1: legislature that is all Democrats. I don't know if you've
- 20:07Speaker 1: ever heard about Will Rogers, who was the great comedian
- 20:10Speaker 1: and commentator. When Will Rogers died, on his tombstone, you
- 20:14Speaker 1: will read, I never met a man I didn't like.
- 20:18Speaker 1: California legislators to a person their tombstone will read I
- 20:23Speaker 1: never met a.
- 20:24Speaker 2: Tax I didn't like.
- 20:26Speaker 1: And that's exactly what's happening now because we're not tax enough.
- 20:30Speaker 1: I just want to let you know that that we
- 20:32Speaker 1: don't have enough money for the homeless situation, for medical
- 20:37Speaker 1: and especially now because of what the President has done
- 20:41Speaker 1: in terms of yanking a lot of social programs. California,
- 20:46Speaker 1: which provides huge amounts of social programs, we don't have
- 20:49Speaker 1: the money. So Senator Bernie Sanders and California legislators have
- 20:53Speaker 1: come up with a great idea, and that is, let's
- 20:58Speaker 1: charge a one time five percent tax on the assets
- 21:02Speaker 1: of all California billionaires. And that's essential to prevent millions
- 21:08Speaker 1: of the state's most vulnerable residents from losing access to
- 21:12Speaker 1: healthcare for the most part because of federal funding. And
- 21:16Speaker 1: then opponents are saying, wait a minute, that means wealthy
- 21:20Speaker 1: entrepreneurs are going to flee the state and we're done.
- 21:25Speaker 2: Gavin Newsom, mister liberal.
- 21:27Speaker 1: Is on the side of no. He does not want
- 21:32Speaker 1: to charge billionaires as five percent or tax them. I think, well, okay,
- 21:37Speaker 1: I mean it makes a lot of sense because, well,
- 21:40Speaker 1: you can only tax people to a certain extent. Is
- 21:44Speaker 1: there a limit that you can tax people? Bernie Sanders,
- 21:47Speaker 1: also known as his nickname in high school was Karl
- 21:51Speaker 1: Marx When he was asked, is there a limit to
- 21:57Speaker 1: the amount of taxes that can be charged that can
- 22:02Speaker 1: be levied? And asked what is that limit? And he said,
- 22:08Speaker 1: I don't know what it is, but I'll tell you
- 22:12Speaker 1: when I see it. It's like Justice Potter of the
- 22:17Speaker 1: Supreme Court, when asked to define pornography in one of
- 22:20Speaker 1: his cases, says, I can't define pornography, but I'll tell
- 22:24Speaker 1: you when I see it. And so the legislature as
- 22:29Speaker 1: a matter of fact, is not doing this because this
- 22:32Speaker 1: is so crazy. So they're bringing it up to the
- 22:35Speaker 1: November elections with a proposition, and they need six hundred
- 22:39Speaker 1: and seventy five thousand votes, which means they have to
- 22:42Speaker 1: actually have seven eight hundred thousand people actually register because
- 22:46Speaker 1: a huge number are ineligible because they put a wrong address,
- 22:50Speaker 1: or they put a wrong initial, they put a wrong period.
- 22:52Speaker 1: They'll have to be exact, and we'll see what the
- 22:56Speaker 1: people of California are going to say. If I had
- 22:58Speaker 1: to guess, I would say the people of California are
- 23:01Speaker 1: going to vote yes to this because it's billionaires, because
- 23:05Speaker 1: billionaires shouldn't have that much money. They just shouldn't. You
- 23:11Speaker 1: got to share it with the rest of us. It's
- 23:14Speaker 1: a really redistribution of wealth more than anything else, and
- 23:17Speaker 1: it's everything the United States is not about.
- 23:21Speaker 2: Right it is.
- 23:22Speaker 1: It's basically an anti capitalistic system. Now it's a one
- 23:26Speaker 1: time right five percent levee. Does anybody believe it's a.
- 23:32Speaker 2: One time levee?
- 23:34Speaker 1: Not a chance, because every law we have ever passed
- 23:40Speaker 1: that has a sunset clause where its sunsets, I mean
- 23:43Speaker 1: it ends at a certain given time and it involves taxation.
- 23:47Speaker 2: It somehow becomes permanent. It's just permanent.
- 23:54Speaker 1: So we'll see that probably gonna make the ballot and
- 23:57Speaker 1: we'll see what happens when in November.
- 24:00Speaker 2: It's gonna be an interesting mid term, real interesting. We're done, guys.
- 24:04Speaker 2: That's it.
- 24:04Speaker 1: Gary and Shannon are up next this afternoon at at
- 24:07Speaker 1: four o'clock. Made your announcement here at KFI are Grand Puba,

- 24:25Speaker 1: the announcement. I won't God, why is it we're always

- 24:33Speaker 1: You know, we just we're not We're not involved. They
- 24:35Speaker 1: just don't care about us. Well, we wake up, we
- 24:41Speaker 1: go to work. Here's the philosophy of die, you wake up,
- 24:44Speaker 1: philosophy of life. You wake up, you go to work,
- 24:47Speaker 1: you retire, then you die. Okay, that's why.
- 24:50Speaker 2: You say you're never retiring. Huh yeah, pretty much? Yeah?
- 24:54Speaker 1: And also what am I gonna do? I have no friends,
- 24:57Speaker 1: I hate my family, I don't want to be any place. Hey,

- 25:04Speaker 2: What die on the air? I mean not like you
- 25:06Speaker 2: do every day? Oh man?

- 25:09Speaker 1: take a swan dive off a parking structure, man, I'm
- 25:12Speaker 1: going to have a mic, a little Lavalier Mike attached
- 25:15Speaker 1: to my caller, and I will be announcing it in advance.
