- 0:00Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the Three O Take, where we talk
- 0:04all things Major League Baseball.
- 0:06Here's Kyle Corwin and Nate Reyes.
- 0:10It all starts right now. Welcome back to the Three O Take
- 0:16presented by C Geek. This is Episode 421.
- 0:20I'll be your host, Kyle Corden, and I'm riding solo again.
- 0:24It's all good. Look, if you're a follower of
- 0:28this podcast, you know Nate is in a very exciting, very busy
- 0:34transition in his life. Just got married this past
- 0:36weekend, so still a lot of, a lot of business going on there.
- 0:41So I had to run it solo again tonight.
- 0:44No big deal. We we would have possibly done
- 0:48tomorrow night but just with some scheduling logistics and
- 0:52everything had to get it out to you guys tonight So apologize if
- 0:58you're sick of me already but Nate will be back next week.
- 1:03He has he has informed me that he will be back next week so
- 1:06hopefully for episode 422 you'll have the regular crew back.
- 1:11Nate and myself before we get started we got a lot of baseball
- 1:15talk about. I want to request to ask that
- 1:21you subscribe to our YouTube. We are quickly approaching our
- 1:27goal of 2000. We want to have 2000 by the end
- 1:30of the year. So we're coming up on One K So
- 1:33we're making making good progress.
- 1:35Would would greatly appreciate if you all could subscribe to
- 1:39our YouTube channel. I'm putting a lot of a lot of
- 1:42content up this season, so would really appreciate if you guys
- 1:47could either check it out and maybe make that your primary
- 1:50method of listening to the podcast going forward or if you
- 1:54don't, even if you're not really big YouTube version like I'd
- 1:57rather not do the video. I'd rather go audio, just
- 1:59subscribe anyway. It would it would it would be a
- 2:03huge help for the old three O take your favorite podcast,
- 2:07hopefully your favorite podcast. Let's get into some baseball
- 2:11right off the top here. I usually don't do this, but I
- 2:15want I I want to put a poll out to our listeners.
- 2:20This wasn't even, this wasn't even the the leading topic of
- 2:23episode 421. But I'm catching some heat on
- 2:27Twitter about this. This ending to the D backs game
- 2:31today. I don't know if you saw, but the
- 2:37Yankees and D backs went to the 11th today and the D backs were
- 2:44down to their final out. They're down 5 to 6.
- 2:47They're at home. Yankee is looking to close it
- 2:50out UP65 in the bottom of the 11th.
- 2:54They got two outs. D backs have two outs.
- 2:57And they had emptied their bench to the point that they had to
- 3:01send a relief pitcher. I I think a relief pitcher,
- 3:08Scott Mcgough. I think I saw that it was his
- 3:12first AB, his first ever major, like his first at bat ever as a
- 3:18big league player. They send the D back, send him
- 3:22up to the plate with two outs down a run to the Yankees with
- 3:27the bases loaded. That's all they had.
- 3:30I'm not saying that was like their top choice, but that's all
- 3:32they had. With that said, he gets down to
- 3:391/2. I believe the count was 1/2.
- 3:42There's like a borderline pitch. It's that I I saw some people
- 3:46saying it was like 6 inches off the plate.
- 3:48I'll go 6 inches off the plate. I'll, I'll, I'll give him that.
- 3:50I'll, I'll, I'll be generous. Doesn't even take the bat off
- 3:54his shoulders. So my question to you is, that
- 3:57was a long, long winded way of asking via pole, where do we
- 4:04stand on that? Like I like I said, if I hadn't
- 4:08caught heat about this on Twitter, I wouldn't even.
- 4:10I. It really wouldn't make a
- 4:11difference to me. But now I'm genuinely curious,
- 4:13wondering if I'm the crazy one here.
- 4:15What? Scott Mcgough, A pitcher up, up
- 4:21to plate teams down one bottom of the 11th, Bases loaded, 1-2
- 4:25count, borderline pitch? Am I crazy to say that you got a
- 4:30swing on anything close? Like, has baseball evolved to
- 4:34the point past, the point of that being a philosophy, that
- 4:37being an approach, 'cause that's how we were always taught, and
- 4:40I'm pretty sure that's how the majority of a lot of these guys
- 4:42were taught. And I know Scott Mcgough is a
- 4:45pitcher, but I'm sure he hit at one point in his life playing
- 4:48baseball, so I know he knows this is borderline pitch.
- 4:52Am I crazy? Go watch the video, Tell me.
- 4:56Tell me what you think. Get back to me.
- 4:59Hit me up on via DM or something.
- 5:01Let me know 'cause this is bothering me more than it
- 5:04should, I will admit, but I really got to know it.
- 5:08Where you guys are at with this? Anyway, glad we got that out of
- 5:10the way. Let's get into the main topics
- 5:14of discussion for tonight. Renelle Blanco, the first no
- 5:19hitter of the 2024 season. Can I put it up to another poll?
- 5:27Can I? Can I propose another poll?
- 5:30How many of you heard about this, like as it was happening?
- 5:35How many of you heard about this after the fact?
- 5:39Because I got to say, I know it's early in the season.
- 5:41I know we're, what, 5-6 games into the season?
- 5:47Six, 7:00-ish. I know it's early, but in recent
- 5:53memory, this is one of the most under the radar.
- 5:56No hitters that I can remember. I mean I got the notification it
- 6:02said he was through. No, I I don't even think the
- 6:04people at the game the OR the people that were responsible for
- 6:07putting these notifications out because obviously I'm not I'm
- 6:10not tuned into the Astros Jays game on a random what was it
- 6:16Monday, Tuesday night Monday night.
- 6:19So I I have to rely on some of these updates to to know when to
- 6:22tune in to things like this. And they sent the the update and
- 6:27it said Renault Blanco no hitter through eight.
- 6:31I flipped the game on. Vladio Junior is flaring a ball
- 6:39to second base to end the game so I barely caught the end of
- 6:43it. And granted I had to go back and
- 6:44watch the condensed version of the game just so I I I knew what
- 6:47I'd be talking about as as I knew this would be a topic on
- 6:50the podcast. But like I said, I don't even
- 6:53think the people that were at the game or the people
- 6:55responsible for keeping people updated on things like this when
- 6:59when no hitter warnings are are sent out I don't even know if
- 7:02they were awake for this or aware that it was going on.
- 7:05So I mean we're going to talk about it.
- 7:08A no hitter's a no hitter. I mean props to Ronell.
- 7:11He's got an awesome story that I I think needs to be talked
- 7:14about. But I I kind of feel bad for the
- 7:18guy, you know? I mean talk about a a whirlwind
- 7:21of events for this guy and I don't feel like didn't even get
- 7:24the the discussion or the attention that he deserves for
- 7:28this achievement. But I mentioned the story that
- 7:32he that he has or that he brought into the game with him.
- 7:36I I in this article that I read I think it was ESPN's article it
- 7:39said it started off in a span of seven days.
- 7:42The Houston right-hander welcomed a new daughter made his
- 7:45first opening day roster and then threw the first no hitter
- 7:50in the major leagues this season.
- 7:52So within seven days welcome to new daughter made the roster
- 7:56threw a no hitter. I mean that's that's an
- 8:01incredible story and I think some someone correct me if I'm
- 8:04wrong but I think I I think I read somewhere that he and
- 8:08forgive me not having the full background on this guy because
- 8:11as you can see very very kind of out there story.
- 8:18This isn't a household name. But I think I read that he
- 8:22signed for like 5 grand to some like international signing.
- 8:26I'm not sure the details on that someone someone can like I said
- 8:29correct me if I'm wrong but I think I saw that he signed for
- 8:32like $5000. In addition to a lot of the
- 8:35other guys at the Astros have have brought on board over the
- 8:38last call it 5-10 years. A a lot of similar situations
- 8:43where very, very cheap signings and they turn out to be you know
- 8:47they're they're making their mark in the organization.
- 8:50So if that is true or even if it was more, but it it was still
- 8:56very minimal money. Good for him and I mean talk
- 8:59about making the best of an opportunity, making the best of
- 9:01a situation. But yeah he is.
- 9:06He's 30 years old. Didn't play or or didn't make it
- 9:09didn't play in the majors rather until he was 28.
- 9:12This is his eighth career start and as you well know, the Astros
- 9:17rotation is a little bit banged up.
- 9:19So that's that's part of the reason he really was even in
- 9:23this situation to begin with. So again, goes back to making
- 9:27the best of the opportunity. So props to Ronell for for
- 9:31taking advantage of of the opportunity you're giving
- 9:33because as you all know you hear guys in the league talk about it
- 9:36all the time. The guys that have that are
- 9:42presented similar opportunities, a lot of them can't take
- 9:46advantage of it because the pressure gets to them or they
- 9:49get in their own head or they they caught.
- 9:51They catch themselves not, not ready.
- 9:54The team comes them, says hey, now's your shot kid and they're
- 9:57caught with their hands down their pants and it's it.
- 10:01It's a it's a tough spot to be in and you don't, obviously you
- 10:06don't really hear about those stories because they kind of
- 10:08fizzle out. Maybe a once promising prospect
- 10:12just didn't take advantage of of the the opportunity.
- 10:15Or even a guy like this where it's like, hey, in a normal
- 10:19world, in a regular world, you might not get this opportunity.
- 10:22But given circumstances related to injuries or personnel issues
- 10:29whatever it may be a guy got suspended and we got to call you
- 10:33up some whatever it may be. The guys that that make the most
- 10:38of those opportunities are the stories that you hear about and
- 10:41Renell Blanco is certainly one of those names.
- 10:43So again I I just want to express my my respects to Ronell
- 10:50for for doing that because that's that's a a tough spot to
- 10:53be in for a let's let's call let's call it like it is a very
- 10:57successful franchise over the last decade.
- 11:00Regardless how you feel about the Astros to be able to come up
- 11:03and and do this I I tip my cap to him again this was Monday
- 11:10night in the Astros 10 nothing win against the Blue Jays.
- 11:14The Blue Jays looked absolutely flat and not to take anything
- 11:17away from Blanco, he had, he had his stuff working and I I
- 11:21specifically wanted to address the change up usage.
- 11:26He had that thing on a string all night and I I believe most
- 11:34if not all like 90 to even 100% of the strikeouts that he had.
- 11:39I think he had seven. KSI believe it was seven I think
- 11:46were exclusively via the change up.
- 11:49He had the Jays looking silly, absolutely silly.
- 11:57It was nothing but soft contact all night.
- 12:01The only real hard contact that I think he saw at any point
- 12:07during that night was right at guys.
- 12:09So you know how that stuff goes. Luck tends to be on your side in
- 12:14situations like that, and there wasn't even really any close
- 12:19play that that put him in a hairy situation.
- 12:22I think the only play that was even remotely a little little
- 12:27scary was the second out in the eighth or in the ninth.
- 12:33Rather, I think it was a it was a ground ball to Jose, a hard
- 12:35ground ball to Jose. Abreu laid out, made the play.
- 12:39Not to take anything away from Abreu, but I think we can all
- 12:41acknowledge that it's not exactly the most agile these
- 12:44days. So I think any other first
- 12:46baseman, maybe a little younger, maybe a little lighter on their
- 12:50feet, it's not as scary of a play.
- 12:53Maybe it's a little more comfortable.
- 12:54Maybe, maybe Ronelle could have breathed a little bit easier,
- 12:59but either way Abreu makes a play for the second out in the
- 13:03ninth and again, that was really the only close call.
- 13:06I think there was a ball hit, maybe the left center that made
- 13:09its way close to the track, but really it was just soft contact
- 13:14and and his strike and his change outs via the strikeout,
- 13:17He hurt strikeouts via the change out.
- 13:19He had him looking foolish all night.
- 13:24It was the 17th no hitter in in team history and the first
- 13:30obviously the 1st of 2024 but the first since Michael Lorenzen
- 13:36when he was with Philly last year if you recall, it was I
- 13:38think it was August. But yeah the going back to the
- 13:43change up 'cause I I I don't want that to be lost on on this.
- 13:49He had a 90% strike rate with the change up that's that's
- 13:53gross and to see where he he he was spotting it up exactly where
- 13:58he wanted it all night. He was spotting it low.
- 14:02He was he was twisting guys up at the plate.
- 14:04They were they were swinging out of their shoes the entire night
- 14:10when they weren't rolling over on balls or or flailing them to
- 14:14to shallow to the shallow outfield.
- 14:17So it was just a a very, very efficient, very dominant
- 14:22performance and credit to him too for take again taking
- 14:29advantage of the opportunity but recognizing or or realizing how
- 14:33early it is in the season because I I'm curious to see
- 14:38what kind of toll this takes on him moving forward or in the
- 14:42opportunities that he's potentially given.
- 14:44I don't know if this is a more of a long term fit for the
- 14:47rotation while we wait out injuries for the Astros or or
- 14:50what it may be. But if he does have recurring
- 14:55appearances for the Stroh's, I am curious to see what kind of
- 14:59toll this takes because an outing although it was
- 15:02relatively efficient given the circumstances it's that's still
- 15:06a that's still a tall a tall ask.
- 15:09This early in season ago I think it was over 100 pitches.
- 15:13I want to say it was like was it like 110?
- 15:17I might be making that number completely up but I I think we
- 15:20were close to that. But yeah, just very, very
- 15:25impressive outing from Rannell. And like I said right off the
- 15:29top, I wish he would have gotten a little more love for it in the
- 15:32moment because again, I feel like everybody was kind of
- 15:35scrambling like whoa, whoa, whoa, this, this has happened on
- 15:37already like this, this is what's going on.
- 15:40And he closed it out and made history for himself and for the
- 15:45team. So again, props Rannell moving
- 15:47along here. Speaking of history, Bryce
- 15:50Harper Have a night kid have a night came into the to what is
- 15:58today. Today's Wednesday came into
- 16:00Tuesday's game O for 11, which for all intents and purposes the
- 16:08grand scheme of things not that many ABS.
- 16:13But I can I I would venture to say a guy like Bryce who just
- 16:19loves to hit to start to start off the year O for 11, that has
- 16:27to feel that may as well be O for 75 for him.
- 16:30I really, I mean anybody is going to be feeling that right
- 16:33out of the gate if you're struggling to get that first to
- 16:36notch that first hit to record that that first knock in the
- 16:39books to start the year. But for him especially, I would
- 16:43imagine that a guy who expects a lot from himself, I'm sure that
- 16:47that was weighing on him. And again, I'm sure O for 11
- 16:50felt 10 times that. So to come out and and drop 3
- 16:57tanks, your first of all, your first hit of the season is a
- 17:03home run. And then you're like, I got one
- 17:07more in me. And then you come up again and
- 17:11you say not only do I have a third one in me, let's clear the
- 17:16bases, bases juiced Grand Slam to cap off a what was it, a six
- 17:25RBI night? I think it was two.
- 17:27Was it two solo shots in a Grand Slam?
- 17:31Just a heck of a just a heck of a way to to, I don't want to
- 17:37say, come out of the gate, 'cause we're, like I said, we're
- 17:39six games, 6 or so games in the season.
- 17:42But for him to to finally tally that first, that first knock, to
- 17:46do it in in quite literally grand style, you you gotta love
- 17:52that for him. That so they they take down the
- 17:56Reds 9:00 to 4:00 Tuesday. The history behind it though, I
- 18:01I I need to pull it up just 'cause I don't want to misspeak
- 18:04here. And forgive me, I should have
- 18:06had, I should have had this pulled up already.
- 18:10But I think he was the 1st. Was it the first guy since like
- 18:20the freaking 19, like the year 1900 or something insane to go
- 18:29to start O for 11 and then hit three bombs or something?
- 18:34There was some historical element to it and I should have
- 18:37no, I should have written it down when I saw it.
- 18:39That's my bad but it was it was really it was a matter of time
- 18:48and I I tweeted out I said I said the king is back after like
- 18:54the first the first one maybe the second one and then he goes
- 18:57and and and hits a hits a third one for Grand Slam.
- 19:00I I wasn't worried as AI mean as you can see here on on YouTube,
- 19:05big Bryce guy and I I just wasn't worried.
- 19:11I wasn't worried. I knew I I was confident that it
- 19:15was only a matter of time that he was going to turn it around.
- 19:18This guy's been in the league too long.
- 19:20I swear it feels like he just got into the league like
- 19:22yesterday and we're having all these Bryce Harper Mike Trout
- 19:25conversations. But he's been in the league now
- 19:28for 12 years. Is it really?
- 19:32Has it been 12 years already Where does the time go?
- 19:38My goodness that makes me feel old because he was it was 2012
- 19:43his rookie year right. He won rookie of the year in
- 19:462012 My goodness 12 years. But yeah he's he's been in the
- 19:53league too long he he's a hitting nut.
- 19:57He I don't I don't know if I'd call him a nerd.
- 20:01I I wouldn't call him a hitting nerd because I I think he's he
- 20:04has said on on numerous occasions before that he.
- 20:07He just likes to hit. He just likes to mash baseballs.
- 20:11There's a quote I think from like 20 or 21 where he
- 20:16paraphrasing, but he basically was just like, yeah, I just, I
- 20:18just want to hit baseballs. So for a guy that has done it
- 20:25his whole career, I I believe me, I wasn't stressed about an O
- 20:28for 11 start. I'm sure Phillies fans were
- 20:31feeling a little little uncomfortable with with that
- 20:34slow of a start. And I know, I know.
- 20:35Braves fans were just eating it up.
- 20:37Rightfully so. I mean, if if your rival star
- 20:39player is is off to a a sluggish chart, you're going to kick them
- 20:42while they're down for sure. But came back in a big way.
- 20:47I think I saw. No, that was Mookie.
- 20:51I'm getting milestones mixed up. I thought it was like his
- 20:53fifteen hundredth RBI or something.
- 20:58But what's crazy about that Phillies game?
- 21:03I don't. I don't even know if.
- 21:05If the Bryce Harper thing was the craziest part about the
- 21:08game, did you all hear about Ricardo Pinto the the reliever.
- 21:13I got to give you guys some background here.
- 21:16He hasn't he hasn't pitched in the big league since 2019.
- 21:22He got let me make sure I got this right.
- 21:25He got called up from AAA Lehigh Valley and the Phillies couldn't
- 21:34get him a flight from Rochester, which I guess is where they were
- 21:38at. And because he couldn't make the
- 21:42flight, he had to drive 8 hours and the reason he was late, as
- 21:54you would imagine, scrambling to make that trip, he got the Rob
- 21:59Thompson, the manager of Philly, said.
- 22:00He got stuck in traffic and so he was did I see.
- 22:07He didn't make it to the 4th inning.
- 22:11He made it. I got to make sure I got this
- 22:14right. He he made yes.
- 22:20He didn't arrive at the ballpark until the 4th inning and then
- 22:24proceeded to pitch 4 innings and got his first career save.
- 22:30And now I'm not going to lie, when I saw, when I saw the
- 22:33first, like, post about this, I thought who is this Ricardo
- 22:39Pinto guy and and how do you show up in the 4th inning?
- 22:44I had a tweet written out and I was, I was just, I'm not going
- 22:48to lie, I I was going to bury the guy.
- 22:49I was like, do you know, I was like, do you know how late you
- 22:52have to be as a Major League Baseball player to show up in
- 22:56the 4th inning? Major League Baseball players
- 22:58show up hours before they get like hours.
- 23:01Some guys will show up like half a day early.
- 23:04They'll show up for. I mean, I couldn't even tell you
- 23:09for like a a 7:00 PM game. There are guys that'll show up
- 23:12at like 112, even got to get their work in.
- 23:18They want to get stretched out. They want to get a little bit of
- 23:22rehab in whatever it may be. And I'm sitting here reading
- 23:27this and I said he shows up in the 4th and I said Homie would
- 23:32have had to have left by like the second inning to show up in
- 23:35the 4th. So how like how late did he
- 23:38really leave? And then I found out the story
- 23:40and I'm go, you know, good for you for even making it during
- 23:44the game. Honestly, I would have probably
- 23:46gotten such a road rage. I probably wouldn't even made it
- 23:49if I'm being honest. And I would venture say a lot of
- 23:51you listen, probably wouldn't have either because I would be
- 23:55stressed to the Max if the big if the big club called me and
- 23:58said, hey, no flight, you got to drive.
- 24:04I'm probably not even letting the sentence finish before I'm
- 24:06in my car hitting like 110 on the freeway and I probably still
- 24:11wouldn't have made it by the 4th.
- 24:13So good. I don't know how you did it, but
- 24:15good for you Ricardo Pinto. Proud of you, my friend.
- 24:22Speaking of being proud, I'm not proud of the Oakland A's for
- 24:26obvious reasons. It they're just a a a mess right
- 24:29now, they optioned, as I'm sure you've heard by this point, I'm
- 24:35sure you've heard that they options.
- 24:39Hold on. My sister-in-law just texted me
- 24:47asking for trivia on the Red Sox, and I admittedly don't.
- 24:50I don't know if I know this. I'm way overthinking this,
- 24:54aren't I? I should be ashamed.
- 24:56What did the Red Sox do in 2018 that they'd had not done since
- 25:001946? I'm like, way overthinking this.
- 25:08Why am I? Why am I going straight to the
- 25:10opponent? I probably shouldn't have
- 25:12mentioned this on here, 'cause now I feel like I've exposed
- 25:14myself. Not like that.
- 25:19What did the Red Sox do in 2018 that they had not done it since
- 25:221946? Does it have something to do
- 25:24with the wind? Total?
- 25:25I should know this. What is wrong with you?
- 25:28As I'm sitting here wearing a Boston hat?
- 25:30I'm such a fraud. I'm gonna know.
- 25:33I I I put myself on the spot here, so that's on me.
- 25:37I guarantee you, I'll. I'll, I'll know it.
- 25:39As soon as I I get off, it'll come to me.
- 25:44She's at a trivia night. That's tough.
- 25:50That's on me. That's.
- 25:52I shouldn't have even said anything.
- 25:54My bad. But they optioned A Suri Ruiz on
- 25:59Monday. And look, we love conspiracies
- 26:02on this podcast. And the conspiracies are flying
- 26:05with this individual. Not actually Peyer.
- 26:08I should say Peyer, because they also benched Brent Rooker.
- 26:11Granted he started over 11 to start the year, so very, very
- 26:15Bryce Harper esque if you will. So a little more understandable
- 26:18that they would bench him. But to option your your best
- 26:22hitter on the team. He was at the time he was
- 26:25hitting 429 with an OPS of one. No, hold on.
- 26:33Get my numbers mixed up. Yeah, he was in 429.
- 26:36Had an OPS of 1232. So where's the conspiracy come
- 26:43into play you ask? Not sure if you guys have seen,
- 26:47but both of those names that I mentioned, Ruiz and Rooker, were
- 26:53both spotted at various times. I don't know if they if it's
- 26:56been every day that they've had them on but they they there are
- 27:00pictures circulating of them wearing the last dive bar
- 27:03bracelets to basically show solidarity for solidarity
- 27:08purposes with the fans and and the people who are upset about
- 27:12the situation with Las Vegas and relocation and just the way the
- 27:17team has been handled. If if you don't if you're not
- 27:20familiar with the last dive bar when it how and how it pertains
- 27:23to the Oakland A's look into it. It's pretty fascinating story.
- 27:27But for them to wear the bracelets that said last dive
- 27:30bar the conspiracy is that ownership or I'm guessing
- 27:36ownership people in the front office somebody somebody some
- 27:40power to be maybe had a little bit of a trickle down message
- 27:47word got down to the clubhouse hey we're not going for this
- 27:52anybody that anybody on this team that plays for this ball
- 27:55club that's going to show public support like that I don't care
- 28:00how well they're hitting send them to AAA.
- 28:05It's a It doesn't even make sense if you're going to if
- 28:07you're going to option somebody. And apparently the the GM, the
- 28:12ASGM tried to explain that the reason they sent the option to
- 28:16be AAA was to make room for Tyler and Evan, who, by the way,
- 28:20is a 200 career hitter. What are we talking about?
- 28:26You're going to option your best hitter to make room for a guy
- 28:30that's at 200 his career. The Oakland A's are a joke man,
- 28:36an absolute joke. But again, my, my, my whole
- 28:39point there is if you're going to option somebody, why don't
- 28:42you option the guy that started over 11?
- 28:44And if if you're really upset and you're trying to make a
- 28:46point bench the guy who's hitting 429.
- 28:51They had it backwards. And I don't care about
- 28:53positional depth or or or team needs.
- 28:57Clearly you don't know what your team needs if you're sending
- 29:00your best hitter down hitting 429.
- 29:08I don't understand what's going on with the Oakland A's and not
- 29:11to mention I don't know if you guys saw.
- 29:12Did you guys see that CHEAT SHEET?
- 29:16I forgive me. I don't know.
- 29:20And I honest, I don't know if if many people know the sorry, this
- 29:26thing with the trivia stressed me out.
- 29:29I need to, I need to clear my head of it.
- 29:31I'm not going to be able to let this go until.
- 29:34Until I address this, I'm just going to say I'm recording to
- 29:37let myself off the hook. Sorry.
- 29:40Recording a podcast? All right.
- 29:49Sorry. We're good.
- 29:50The The CHEAT SHEET. It was from the the Red Sox
- 29:55series that just that just wrapped up.
- 29:58I don't like it. Like I was saying, I don't know
- 30:00if this is legit. I have every reason to believe
- 30:03that it is, though, because it's the Oakland A's and it's it.
- 30:07It just reeks of Oakland A's management.
- 30:12This guy, I I think he found it. I'm guessing Will McNeil.
- 30:18I don't know. I don't know if he found it, but
- 30:21he tweeted out the picture. He said.
- 30:23So this was found at the Coliseum tonight.
- 30:26Unreal #athletics. It's a CHEAT SHEET.
- 30:29Or I guess you call it a CHEAT SHEET for the April 2nd game
- 30:34against the Red Sox and it's broken up into different
- 30:36categories. It says the categories are
- 30:39customer service product, new jerseys, item of the game, gate
- 30:44closures, and then notes at the bottom.
- 30:48And I won't read you the whole the whole sheet but I'll just
- 30:50give you some of the highlights if you haven't seen it yet.
- 30:54Under customer service one of the points says I understand.
- 30:57I'm I'm guessing this is for stadium staff that that's my
- 31:00best guess. I I don't know the the
- 31:01background behind this but I'm guessing it's for stadium staff
- 31:04or for the ushers or for concession saying people or you
- 31:09know like the popcorn guys. I don't know but under customer
- 31:13services says. I understand the fan base may be
- 31:15upset with the team but do what we can to make the experience or
- 31:19their experience a +1 under product And this is where this
- 31:24is where the madness was was unleashed where people were
- 31:28really losing their minds when they read this.
- 31:31Under product it says if you see anything that says quote rooted
- 31:34in Oakland it must be taken down immediately And then it says
- 31:39try. Underneath it says try not to
- 31:41highlight products that focuses on the name Oakland And then
- 31:45there's some some things under under New Jersey's where it says
- 31:52only the white jerseys the new ones please take down your your
- 31:58old white jerseys. All the other jerseys can remain
- 32:01as we don't have the new ones in yet which is a whole another
- 32:03thing that I'll that I'll get to at the end.
- 32:05The apparently teams don't have jerseys right now which is
- 32:08insane. We're a week into this a week
- 32:10plus into the season and certain teams are missing certain
- 32:14jerseys. Like I said, I'll get into that
- 32:16and hear shortly, but the notes at the bottom I thought was very
- 32:21strange. It said attendance is 3500,
- 32:27their sales goal is $36,000 and then the parts that nobody
- 32:33understood and I think we're all dying to know.
- 32:36Slash meet is this Drew guy. The last note on the sheet said
- 32:41Drew is here all week. If you have any questions or
- 32:43concerns, please feel free to reach out.
- 32:48Why is all this falling on Drew and why do we have a CHEAT SHEET
- 32:53like this? Are these things just not
- 32:59assumed? Like why can't you just have a a
- 33:01single staff meeting and just says hey, anything that says
- 33:04rooted in Oakland or just anything anti Oakland, just take
- 33:07it down. Don't people know at this point
- 33:10doesn't Isn't anybody that's associated with the Oakland A's
- 33:12organization familiar with what kind of what's going on here and
- 33:17the the issues that are troubling this ballclub.
- 33:22I I I don't understand why this CHEAT SHEET exists or who it's
- 33:26even for or if it even if it's if it's even real who who knows.
- 33:30I just thought it was interesting and and and worth
- 33:33talking about. So yeah don't know what's going
- 33:36on in Oakland. This isn't the last I'll be
- 33:38talking about. Oakland still got a a note about
- 33:42them and their ball ballpark situation.
- 33:46But moving right along here, the Giants are parting ways with
- 33:50their once promising option behind the dish, Joey Bart.
- 33:55They they DFA Joey Bart Sunday and was traded to the Pirates on
- 34:02Tuesday. So the Pirates have have
- 34:05acquired Joey Bart, who again was thought by many to be the
- 34:11successor to Buster Posey. He showed a lot.
- 34:15He showed a decent amount of promise.
- 34:17They they thought that he'd be able to settle in with some
- 34:19time, but it just hasn't panned out the way the the team has
- 34:22wanted it to. And what's interesting though is
- 34:29the Pirates who as as I've already I think, mentioned last
- 34:33episode off to a great start. Henry Davis is in the mix.
- 34:38They've got Yasmani Grandal. I think I even read two guys
- 34:45that I'm I'm less familiar with Jason Delay and Andy Rodriguez,
- 34:49who I believe is on the 60 day, if I read that correctly.
- 34:56Look I I'm usually the type of guy that that that believes that
- 35:01a change of scenery is always good and that it they that these
- 35:06guys should be given the benefit of the doubt first.
- 35:09If they don't pan out with a given club let's just see if
- 35:11they if they're fortunate enough to where they're not just
- 35:15released from baseball together and they have the opportunity to
- 35:19to jump ship to another club to get another shot.
- 35:22I'm I'm I'm not I'm rarely I won't say never but I'm I'm I'm
- 35:27rarely going to just automatically write the guy off
- 35:30again it like if it if it just didn't pan out with his previous
- 35:33team. I'm at least going to give him a
- 35:35shot because getting getting an opportunity on a new team we've
- 35:43seen it before can do wonders for it guys.
- 35:45So like I said I I'm usually going to give the benefit of the
- 35:49doubt in that regard. I don't I don't know if I get
- 35:54that vibe with with Joey Bart though I don't know if it's just
- 35:58because I feel like the hype was too much for him or if the they
- 36:02they put too too high of expectations on him at such a
- 36:08young age to be their successor or like their new franchise
- 36:14catcher. Like to to hear that it's it's
- 36:18one thing for let's just say like a Julio Rodriguez where he
- 36:23comes up to say like hey you're going to be you're going to be
- 36:27an anchor in the outfield for this franchise for the next
- 36:30decade plus that's that's one thing but to tell a guy who's
- 36:33behind the dish who as you. Very well know.
- 36:35Seize. The whole field, every game,
- 36:38isn't it? Regardless how much they
- 36:40contribute offensively, which more times than not is is very
- 36:44little. Are essential.
- 36:48To the to the success of a team and its pitching staff.
- 36:50And really. Really the entire?
- 36:55Defensive side of things. Very.
- 36:58Crucial to. Put those kinds of expectations
- 37:01on a guy who already has all of that on his plate at such a
- 37:04young age. I don't.
- 37:08I. Don't know if they killed his,
- 37:09his confidence or. Maybe it's just he.
- 37:14Needs a fresh start and I say fresh start.
- 37:16He's still he's still pretty young young kid.
- 37:20Maybe the Pirates. Where look, we can say what we
- 37:23want about the Giants, but they're they're, they're pretty
- 37:27storied franchise. And the Pirates have had their
- 37:30their run in the sun over over the certain decades.
- 37:33I'm not saying they're not a storied franchise, but the
- 37:37Pirates as of late are still, you know, kind of kind of
- 37:41tricking through the the rebuild they're trying to get, get a
- 37:45little bit of momentum going. They're off to a great start.
- 37:47As I said, maybe a team like that is a better place to have a
- 37:52go at it. And again, I I don't know what
- 37:54this opportunity looks like for him given that Henry Davis is in
- 37:59the mix, but. If they find a way to make it.
- 38:04Work. Then you have.
- 38:08If you're able to tap into that talent, you've got a a pretty
- 38:11skilled backstop in your system. And even if you don't keep them
- 38:15around, you can maybe send them elsewhere to a team that maybe
- 38:18could at that point use a guy who's got a little bit more
- 38:23confidence, a little bit better of a head on his shoulders.
- 38:25He he feels better about himself, his ability to
- 38:28contribute to a team. So who knows what what Bart's
- 38:32future looks like. But that's what happened this
- 38:35week for his career. Talking about things that
- 38:40happened. Josh Young unfortunately was
- 38:45given the news that he would be out eight to 10 weeks, as you
- 38:49very well know. That can, that can vary.
- 38:51It can maybe sometimes be a little shorter sometimes worst
- 38:54case scenario goes even longer than the estimated window but
- 38:58just a brutal blow for the Rangers man.
- 39:01I mean he was small sample size, but he to start the year he was
- 39:04hitting 412 with. Two Bombs 6.
- 39:08Ribbies. On base percentage.
- 39:12Of 474 sluggy 941 and had an OPS of 1415 and a three and an OPS
- 39:18plus of three O 6. So again, small sample size, but
- 39:22I feel like a year in which many of us Rangers fans, Rangers fans
- 39:27especially, but I think baseball fans in general who are more
- 39:31familiar with this increasingly household name in Josh Young
- 39:37especially after the World Series last year.
- 39:39I think we thought that this this would be a huge year for
- 39:42him. And granted, he's not missing
- 39:47like the whole year, like we'll see more of him this year.
- 39:50Assuming, assuming everything goes right and this doesn't turn
- 39:54into some weird, like, just kidding, he's actually out for
- 39:57the next year and a half. It's way worse than we thought,
- 40:00assuming we don't get something crazy like that, assuming we're
- 40:05not dealing with the New York Yankees and their front office
- 40:07and their training staff who lie more than anyone.
- 40:12We're going to see more of Josh Young.
- 40:13But for a. Team that's looking to bounce.
- 40:17Back from World Series hangover? Not rumors, but labeling.
- 40:25You know, 'cause it's easy to look at a team like that and go
- 40:27you know you're coming off a title run.
- 40:31What are you? Going to do and to have.
- 40:33A guy that was hitting as well as he was to to be able to or to
- 40:36have him miss time. 22 to three months.
- 40:41That's that's a tough blow. But from what I can tell from
- 40:44Rangers fans, I think they're they're excited, might be going
- 40:51a little too far. Content with Ezekiel Duran.
- 40:55I even saw some Rangers fans talking about they they almost
- 41:00forgot that Seeger had a stint on the ILI think last year
- 41:05because of how well he played. Like they just it it wasn't at
- 41:08the forefront of their minds because it wasn't such a glaring
- 41:11hole when he filled in. So that's I guess worse.
- 41:15Like you know, all things considered that's a good, that's
- 41:19a good piece to have to be able to move him around where you
- 41:24need him to and he's going to give you sufficient performance.
- 41:27So again, tough blow for for Josh Young.
- 41:32I don't even know if I mentioned the reason, if you haven't heard
- 41:34yet, but he fractured his right wrist Monday night against the
- 41:40Rays by Phil Mayton, by the way, I think he hit.
- 41:45I think that was like a did I read his third straight hit, hit
- 41:51batsman. That's tough.
- 41:54Was it three straight? Yeah, the two batters before.
- 41:58Young had been hit by pitches. Yeah, not.
- 42:00Not a good, not a good place to be if you're Phil.
- 42:04But again, you hate to see it for Rangers fans and just for
- 42:07baseball. Because again, I feel like Josh
- 42:09Young is has potential to be one of these, you know, up and
- 42:13coming young stars. Pun intended that.
- 42:18Can make himself a household. Name for a team that I think is
- 42:21going to be around in the mix for a while, so we'll see how,
- 42:26how, how they deal in the meantime.
- 42:28But it sounds like Duran Can can hold it down for the mean in the
- 42:33meantime. So enough on that before we get
- 42:38to closing the book. I got a handful of items in
- 42:40there that may take a little longer than they usually do.
- 42:43I just didn't know if they warranted full segment topics.
- 42:48But before we get into that weekend series to watch, I don't
- 42:53know what year it is, but I never thought I'd be writing
- 42:56this down this early in the season.
- 43:01But with the way both of these. Clubs have been playing over the
- 43:03last well. For for the Orioles.
- 43:07I'll say like last year, but for the Pirates, I'll say the last
- 43:10week, 'cause as you as you know, Pirates slipped.
- 43:15They kind of trended downwards at the end of, or probably like
- 43:19the second-half, I guess you'd say.
- 43:23But the Orioles at the Pirates, This is the weekend series that
- 43:26I'm going to be watching. If you're unfamiliar with our
- 43:28podcast, if you're new, maybe if you you you jumped on in the
- 43:32offseason. This is something that Nate and
- 43:34I like to do on the the second episode of the week as we look
- 43:41you know look ahead to the weekend like what?
- 43:43What do we got coming up weekend series to watch.
- 43:46Usually we each bring one to the table but with with Nate again
- 43:50having some some scheduling conflicts only bringing one to
- 43:54you tonight but just want to give you a little taste of of
- 43:57what's to come. But the Orioles of the Pirates
- 43:59is is my series to watch. I've been watching a lot of OS
- 44:02games as of late. You can thank Ryan Ripken for
- 44:06that friend of the pod. Recurring guests of on the three
- 44:10O take the, again Orioles of Pirates game one.
- 44:14We've got Grayson Rodriguez versus Jared Jones.
- 44:17I'm excited to watch that pitching match up, I've heard.
- 44:22Assuming I'm not getting my names mixed.
- 44:23Up here, I've heard, I think I've heard good things about
- 44:25Jared Jones for the Pirates, right.
- 44:28We are. We.
- 44:29Are we hearing good things about Jared Jones baseball fans?
- 44:324:12 PM Eastern. Game one, that is Friday, I
- 44:38think. Yeah.
- 44:39No, no game Thursday between these two teams, so I don't
- 44:44know. Yeah.
- 44:46Series starts Friday. Game one.
- 44:48Game two, you got Tyler Wells versus Bailey falter 4 O 5:00 PM
- 44:52Eastern. And game three, you've got Dean
- 44:54Kramer versus Marco Gonzalez. 1:35 PM Eastern.
- 45:01Like I said, been watching a lot of.
- 45:02O's games. But depending upon how this
- 45:04series goes, not that it it hinges solely on this series but
- 45:09you know if the Pirates can make some noise this series.
- 45:12I may be watching more Pirates games in addition to O's games.
- 45:16Because I I genuinely think this year is gonna is gonna warrant a
- 45:24little bit more attention given to the Pirates deeper into the
- 45:29season than maybe last year. Because as we mentioned
- 45:32second-half not not so great for the Pirates.
- 45:34They started off real strong. I think it was 20 and eight
- 45:38start the year. But I think.
- 45:42And we talked about it during the offseason and I mentioned it
- 45:44in our hot tags and predictions episode.
- 45:46And I'll say again, if you haven't listened to that
- 45:47episode, it's still not too late.
- 45:49We're we're like a week into the season.
- 45:52But it's you still have plenty of time to get caught up, to get
- 45:56familiar with with where me, Nate and Ryan's heads are at
- 46:01going into the the 2024 season, Who we think's going to be be
- 46:06hot, who we think is not, and some other predictions we had in
- 46:10there sprinkled in. So go listen to that.
- 46:12But as I was saying, we mentioned in that episode and
- 46:15all offseason that the Pirates, you know, they're they're
- 46:18knocking on the door, they're knocking on the door.
- 46:21And I just really hope that they can do something special this
- 46:27year or at the very least push the Cinderella story a little
- 46:30further along than they did last year because I if you recall
- 46:36that was a fun team to watch regardless how you feel about
- 46:38the pirates or if you care about them at all.
- 46:41That was a fun story. Like they had some, they had
- 46:42some exciting call UPS, they had some late inning heroics I
- 46:47believe if I if I remember correctly.
- 46:50So I just hope they push that that feel good story a little
- 46:53deeper into the sea and maybe you know maybe blossoms into
- 46:56something more than a feel good story.
- 46:57Maybe this turns into a run at a a wild card seed.
- 47:02Who knows Who knows. Hey, I think actually no, I was
- 47:06going to say I think one of us maybe even had the pirates
- 47:08winning the division. I don't think any of us went
- 47:10that far but anything can happen with with this ballclub so time
- 47:14will tell. Closing the book here.
- 47:16I'll just run through them real quick.
- 47:18The Oakland A's, as as we touched on earlier, they got all
- 47:22sorts of issues. Them and the Royals actually are
- 47:25having issues with the ballclub, ballclub, ballpark.
- 47:30The the A's are looking for a place to play next year and
- 47:35apparently Sacramento is the favorite in the clubhouse to be
- 47:42the landing spot or the temporary home if you will, for
- 47:45the what is it, the 2025 and 2026 seasons?
- 47:49Because I think the Vegas if if that pans out the way that
- 47:54they're saying that that should be 2027.
- 47:56So we're looking for a place to play in the meantime and it it
- 47:59sounds like Sacramento is momentum is is shifting that
- 48:04way. But the Royals, Apparently there
- 48:09was a a vote in which the voters in Jackson County, Missouri
- 48:17rejected, which I believe is where Kansas City is rejected,
- 48:22to approve a tax that would have helped the Royals and the
- 48:27Chiefs. Remain in the.
- 48:31County. To help fund.
- 48:36Stadium improvements for the the Chiefs and a relocation for the
- 48:41Royals. Because as as we've touched on
- 48:44episodes past and as you've probably heard, they're looking
- 48:46to move downtown to get out of Kaufman to relocate.
- 48:50And from what I what I think that I read, I think they're
- 48:55trying to do it up like the Braves kind of do with a little
- 48:57bit of a you know a little bit of a little hot spot around the
- 49:02ballpark restaurants and and the like sort of like the bat like
- 49:07they do with the battery down there in Atlanta.
- 49:09I think that's what they're trying to do.
- 49:10I know, I know that's kind of the movement now with these
- 49:12ballparks that's where things are shifting.
- 49:16But it kind of threw a wrench I think.
- 49:18I think the team, I don't I I won't speak for these these
- 49:21franchises but I I think they were kind of banking on there
- 49:24being a little bit more support for this.
- 49:27So it's throwing a wrench into their plans.
- 49:30I I guess and the Royals put out a tweet that said we respect the
- 49:34voters of Jackson County and the results of the election today.
- 49:36We will take some time to reflect on and process the
- 49:39outcome and find a path forward that works for the Royals and
- 49:42our fans. And that was from John Sherman
- 49:44who is the teams CEO, the chairman and CEO.
- 49:48So I I don't know what this means from a like a legal
- 49:52standpoint, from a relocation standpoint.
- 49:56I mean the the Chiefs did one thing but keeping it baseball
- 49:59specific here, I don't know if this means that the Royals are
- 50:01gonna, you know, they're gonna, if they're gonna come back with
- 50:04a better proposal, if they're gonna threaten to move.
- 50:06Because that seems to be a a a trend these days where you know
- 50:11if things don't go out, go the way you like.
- 50:14Let's just move cities or or build a new ballpark and we'll
- 50:17pay for it ourselves. And screw the city.
- 50:19I I don't know. I don't know what this means for
- 50:21Royals, but. I I I.
- 50:24Think the Royals have. Have.
- 50:26They have. A.
- 50:29A A solid fan. Base.
- 50:30I'm not going to say they're the best.
- 50:32I think they have solid fan base and I I genuinely think they
- 50:35want what's best for the team and I I hope that it works out
- 50:40that way, whether that means I'm staying in Kaufman, whether that
- 50:42means I'm moving downtown. Royals fans, let's.
- 50:47Have let's have a dialogue here. Let's talk.
- 50:49Tell me what what's best for the team because I I'm so, oh man, I
- 50:55said it not to spoil. Hot take?
- 50:58Or prediction from the episode, but I said that the Royals are
- 51:02sneaking into a a wild card spot.
- 51:04I'm they're knock. You want to talk about the
- 51:06Pirates knocking on the door? The Royals I believe are
- 51:08knocking on the door. Bobby Witt is quickly becoming
- 51:12one of my favorite players in baseball.
- 51:14I think the the juice is there. The pieces to the puzzle are
- 51:20there. You just got to figure it out.
- 51:21And I think a lot of this will be a lot of the the momentum if
- 51:27you will that could potentially exist will be greatly impacted
- 51:31by what happens with the ballpark because that's a that's
- 51:33a big part of a franchise is where they're play where they're
- 51:36playing who has immediate access to where they're playing and
- 51:41that that is influenced by whether or not they're willing
- 51:45to support a team that does or doesn't do what they what they
- 51:49ask or vote on. So a lot of play there we'll see
- 51:53how how it pans out the met sign Julio Tehran just briefly here
- 51:59you know the their rotation's hurting they've got Kodai Senga
- 52:05on the on the ILI know Severino is is not starting out the way
- 52:13this year. I think he's only had one start
- 52:15but not exactly what they were hoping for from him.
- 52:18So maybe a little bit of insurance there.
- 52:20They signed Toronto a one year two and a half, $1,000,000 deal
- 52:24and maybe, you know they're just, they're just taking a
- 52:27flyer on them just to see how how things go.
- 52:31Maybe provide a little bit of depth for that rotation just to
- 52:36keep the ship afloat. Jacob in the chat and on
- 52:41Facebook Live, which if you don't check out the lives, be
- 52:45sure to check us out on Facebook Live and I think we're live on
- 52:49Twitter. Slash X, he said.
- 52:51Is Julio Turin the best I could do?
- 52:55That's a good question Jacob. I I can't say for certain.
- 52:58I know there's probably some other free agents out there that
- 53:02are maybe borderline, like close to retiring if they don't get a
- 53:06call soon, maybe they could have been better fits.
- 53:09But it's possible that the communications with Tehran and
- 53:13and his camp just went a little more seamlessly and they said we
- 53:17need help, we need it now and maybe you can be the guy that
- 53:19provides that. So who really knows the
- 53:23Cardinals and Mariners jerseys issue.
- 53:25I need to touch on this real quick.
- 53:28So I don't know why this isn't being talked about more.
- 53:32But if you haven't heard, the reports are saying that the
- 53:38Cardinals, if you're familiar with their uniform, set up.
- 53:45They're not getting those blue. Uniforms.
- 53:48The the powder blue uniforms. That, or they call them the
- 53:50Victory blue uniforms. They're not getting those until
- 53:53likely June, and the Mariners are still waiting.
- 53:58I don't even know if there's an ETA for these, but they're still
- 54:01waiting on their cream jerseys, if you're familiar with that.
- 54:03With those alternates I I posted on Instagram, if you want to see
- 54:07it and tweeted about it, they're waiting for those to arrive.
- 54:12And it's because fanatics, you know them, you hate them.
- 54:17Fanatics cannot ship them until they get in stock because it's
- 54:21it's what I read is a growing pain of the transition process.
- 54:27Look if. If this was.
- 54:30Part of the plan to bring Fanatics on as the the the
- 54:34manufacturer of these uniforms. I I don't know.
- 54:38Maybe a however many billions Major League Baseball is worth,
- 54:45maybe they could have used some of that to ensure that something
- 54:47like this wouldn't have happened.
- 54:49Just a thought, like, I don't know as a professional
- 54:53organization how Major League Baseball teams and their players
- 54:58don't have the uniforms that are part of their collection.
- 55:03Like this isn't like a one off city connect thing.
- 55:07This is predetermined. Like we've known this.
- 55:09They've been wearing these blue uniforms for years now.
- 55:13So it shouldn't have surprised anybody.
- 55:15Like, Oh yeah, the Cardinals are going to need these uniforms by
- 55:18Opening Day, and I hear it's the supply chain issue and all that.
- 55:21But come on, is there not a Plan B to this?
- 55:25Are we expecting, are we asking for too much that, that Major
- 55:29League franchises have their proper uniforms in order and
- 55:37available and ready to go at the start of the season?
- 55:40I I don't know. I I didn't think that was asking
- 55:43for too much, but here we are. I'm.
- 55:49I'm. How this isn't the final straw
- 55:52for Major League Baseball in this Fanatics relationship.
- 55:55I don't know. Like there there must be some, I
- 55:59don't know, black magic underground business going on.
- 56:03I don't know what what it is. But this?
- 56:07Relationship should have been severed months ago if Major
- 56:12League Baseball cared about its product and and the legacy the
- 56:16the how 100 plus years of of baseball, the history and and
- 56:22the tradition and all of that. If you even respected.
- 56:28Or respected or or cared for that image at all.
- 56:33You wouldn't be. Putting up with this.
- 56:34We we've documented the the the issues we've talked about on
- 56:37previous episodes. I've put it on social media,
- 56:39various pictures and and reports and all of that, talking about
- 56:44just how much of a mess Fanatics is right now.
- 56:48Why? Why?
- 56:50First of all, why isn't Rob Manfred come out and and address
- 56:52this Why? Why do these issues continue to
- 56:57arise? Like at some point you need, if
- 56:59you're Major League Baseball, I don't care how much money is
- 57:02involved you need to you need to bring fanatics and Nike or
- 57:05whoever all all of them to the table and say, look if this
- 57:08isn't fixed, we're moving on. The contract is void.
- 57:12It does. I don't care what language is in
- 57:14there. You're we you had one job and it
- 57:17was to provide uniforms for our players and you're either a not
- 57:23providing the teams the uniforms as we just as we just talked
- 57:27about or you are and they're they're not the same colour or
- 57:30they're they're like wet napkins when guys are sweating like it
- 57:35they were soaked. We talked about last episode I
- 57:37think the Yankees Ranger Astro series.
- 57:41It was like 70° and they looked like Wet, Wet napkins.
- 57:45These uniforms are garbage. Fanatics is trash.
- 57:48Their products are awful. How this wasn't relationship
- 57:52wasn't severed months ago is beyond me.
- 57:54I don't know but I'm I'll be done.
- 57:58But I'm done with that. Moved on to the final point
- 58:00here. Just want to give props to Nolan
- 58:03Chenoul. You probably heard about his his
- 58:06call up story last year. Had a had a handful of games up
- 58:11with the big leagues. Had a cup of coffee, but he's
- 58:13still he's still with the ball club still playing.
- 58:15And not only is he just not only is he playing with the club, he
- 58:19is getting on base for the club. He's played 35 big league games.
- 58:22He's gotten on base in every single one of them and if you're
- 58:25curious, that is the third longest on base streak to start
- 58:28a career since 1900. So tip the cap to you my friend.
- 58:35Keep it rolling. You love to see a story like
- 58:37that man. We go back to what I talked
- 58:39about at the beginning. Opportunities given to a guy
- 58:41takes full advantage of it and a situation like that you have to
- 58:48you're giving them every reason to keep you keep you in the line
- 58:51up even if you're not hitting you're getting on base you're
- 58:54you're providing your team opportunities to score runs and
- 58:57win ball games and that's from from a a young guy like that.
- 59:01It's really all you can ask for. So again tip the cap to you
- 59:04Nolan love to see that that progress and I'm curious to see
- 59:08how long a streak can go. So we're in our deep squeezed a
- 59:14lot of a lot of content in there.
- 59:15Hopefully got to everything that you were hoping I'd get to.
- 59:19I apologize if if if we didn't it's it's a little tougher when
- 59:23when I'm riding solo I gotta make sure I cover all my bases
- 59:27and a lot of times when when Nate's on here we can recall
- 59:30things or or include things that maybe slip through the cracks by
- 59:35the by the time we get to the end of the episode.
- 59:37But hopefully that's everything you're hoping for.
- 59:39But look there's a lot more baseball to be played and we're
- 59:42going to be bringing you a lot more content lot more many more
- 59:46episodes, more live streams, more videos, more whatever we're
- 59:53going to be bringing it to you. So we appreciate you as always
- 59:58following us and and listening to us and keeping up with with

- 1:00:16the calendar year. So you got time, but let's, you
- 1:00:18know, let's not. Let's not wait that long, you
- 1:00:21know, let's, let's, let's. Let's just fly past 2000 this
- 1:00:26year, huh? How about it?
- 1:00:27There's a It's going to be a big year for the three out take.
- 1:00:29I feel it. I can already see certain pieces
- 1:00:32of the puzzle fitting into place.
- 1:00:33It's going to be a big year for us.
- 1:00:35I know, I know. I'm excited.
- 1:00:37I know Nate's excited. I know Ryan's going to be
- 1:00:39excited, which is another thing. We're going to be Nate and
- 1:00:42myself. I had.
- 1:00:44I made a solo appearance the other day because again, Nate's
- 1:00:48busy with with getting married and everything.
- 1:00:50All the all these exciting things going on but made a solo
- 1:00:53appearance on the Ryan Ripken show so wanted to plug that.
- 1:00:56Nate and I are going to be hopping on Ryan's show a lot
- 1:00:59this year hopefully if if everything goes well and as as
- 1:01:02will he be making appearances on the three O take.
- 1:01:05So go follow the Ryan Ripken show, hit him up on social media
- 1:01:09and follow the show and you will hopefully get the updates when
- 1:01:13we're on there and you'll be able to catch us talking some
- 1:01:15more balls, so. I think that's everything.
- 1:01:19I know I talked a lot. Again, when I when I run these
- 1:01:22solo pods, I I especially appreciate when you guys make it
- 1:01:25to the end. I know, I I know I'm sitting
- 1:01:28here essentially talking to myself in this little home
- 1:01:30studio here, but appreciate you guys following along and I think
- 1:01:36that's everything. So with that said my friends.
- 1:01:42I love you. The listeners, the followers.
- 1:01:45I love all of y'all and as always, looking forward to
- 1:01:48talking more baseball with you guys soon.
- 1:01:50Until next time, say filthy.
