- 0:00Speaker 1: This is the Ben and Ashley I almost Famous podcast
- 0:03Speaker 1: with iHeartRadio.
- 0:05Speaker 2: It's almost famous podcast. It's been and Ashley back here,
- 0:10Speaker 2: and we wanted to do a quick little recap on
- 0:12Speaker 2: the feedback we've seen and also kind of heard about
- 0:15Speaker 2: this new season of Paradise, because, after all, the show
- 0:18Speaker 2: has resonated with his audiences in a way that's all
- 0:22Speaker 2: this positive and negative, kind of like we were breaking
- 0:25Speaker 2: down on our Bachelor in Paradise recap before we get
- 0:28Speaker 2: into it. The premiere was Monday. Uh, and we've been
- 0:34Speaker 2: watching you and listening to you, and we're gonna try
- 0:37Speaker 2: to do our best of encapsulating everything that's been said
- 0:41Speaker 2: so far. Actually, I'll start it out here. I think
- 0:44Speaker 2: Tanner Tolbert's post.
- 0:46Speaker 3: Mike, you haven't pulled up Ben, are we mind reading?
- 0:52Speaker 4: I literally just pulled it up for this conversation.
- 0:55Speaker 2: I feel like you and I are like really clicking
- 0:58Speaker 2: right now.
- 0:58Speaker 4: Yeah, today we're having a day.
- 1:00Speaker 2: You are having a day, Ashley. Go ahead and read
- 1:03Speaker 2: it because I think it's the perfect breakdown of how
- 1:07Speaker 2: I felt, maybe how fans are feeling, because it wasn't
- 1:11Speaker 2: pure hate. It's it's kind of a divorce from the
- 1:16Speaker 2: old entering into the new. I'm not quite sure how
- 1:21Speaker 2: I feel, But Tanner said a lot of things well
- 1:25Speaker 2: in this post.
- 1:26Speaker 4: Totally okay.
- 1:27Speaker 3: So he said, Bachelor in Paradise is now Timu Island, which,
- 1:30Speaker 3: if you're not familiar with Timu, it is like the
- 1:33Speaker 3: cheaper version of Amazon products. It's the Sheian, It's the
- 1:36Speaker 3: Forever twenty one rip Forever twenty one. He's saying it's
- 1:40Speaker 3: the cheap version of Love Island. He said, these producers
- 1:44Speaker 3: are just trying to copy Love Island but are executing
- 1:47Speaker 3: it poorly.
- 1:48Speaker 4: The new location is silly.
- 1:51Speaker 3: Either get a badass villa if you're gonna copy Love Island,
- 1:54Speaker 3: or stay in Paradise. This generic resort falls short of
- 1:59Speaker 3: somewhere in the middle, very stale feeling. The dream scenes
- 2:03Speaker 3: are so cheesy and force. This was very a very
- 2:06Speaker 3: popular opinion on social media. My bad for thinking that
- 2:10Speaker 3: these scenes were.
- 2:11Speaker 4: Like kind of fine, like kind of funny.
- 2:14Speaker 3: In which I said on our last episode, he said,
- 2:17Speaker 3: having the cast stay in separate hotel rooms is dumb.
- 2:20Speaker 3: It limits the amount of interaction and discussion between the
- 2:23Speaker 3: cast mates. I totally believe that that is one of
- 2:27Speaker 3: the major flaws in the new system. Having the cast
- 2:31Speaker 3: day in ceret rooms is just like, Okay, it's dating time,
- 2:34Speaker 3: and then it's like go to bedtime. It's just it's
- 2:37Speaker 3: not it's just not paradise whatsoever. And then he said
- 2:43Speaker 3: he's still hopeful that this cast can produce some good storylines.
- 2:46Speaker 3: I truly am I'm not sure about I don't think
- 2:52Speaker 3: there's gonna be a ton but I do think that
- 2:54Speaker 3: there is some good relationship meet forming overall.
- 2:59Speaker 4: He did a.
- 3:00Speaker 3: Poll said do you think would you like the new VIP?
- 3:04Speaker 3: Only thirteen percent said yes, eighty seven percent said no.
- 3:09Speaker 2: Hey let me pause you there. It goes kind of
- 3:11Speaker 2: against the poll that we did on Instagram. We got
- 3:15Speaker 2: a lot of great results coming in from our listeners.
- 3:19Speaker 2: The first question we asked on our pool was do
- 3:21Speaker 2: you like the new filming of the resort? Like the
- 3:24Speaker 2: new filming resort, so the one that they're filming in
- 3:26Speaker 2: now fifty five percent said yes, forty five percent so
- 3:30Speaker 2: that they missed the old one. We also asked this question,
- 3:35Speaker 2: do you like all the Dale months Moss entrance attention?
- 3:40Speaker 2: Seventy percent said they did not like it at all.
- 3:45Speaker 2: Thirty percent said they did because he's handsome. The final
- 3:49Speaker 2: question we asked was do you like money being involved
- 3:53Speaker 2: in Paradise? Twenty six percent said yes they loved the
- 3:56Speaker 2: competition of it all, while seventy four percent and know
- 4:01Speaker 2: this should be about finding love.
- 4:03Speaker 3: Now.
- 4:03Speaker 2: I think a little bit of that is based on
- 4:05Speaker 2: how we asked the question. However, the thing I want
- 4:08Speaker 2: to focus on first with you, Ashley, before we getting
- 4:10Speaker 2: anything else, and the thing I was most interested in
- 4:15Speaker 2: is really two topics. You know, I didn't love all
- 4:17Speaker 2: the Dale Moss love, but I can't hate on some
- 4:21Speaker 2: dude getting some support.
- 4:22Speaker 3: What people are saying that that is the bombshell entered
- 4:26Speaker 3: the villa that they have on Love Island, like he
- 4:29Speaker 3: was supposed to be the bombshell.
- 4:30Speaker 4: Which, yes, that is a extreme similarity.
- 4:34Speaker 2: Sure, I will say it this way. I don't hate
- 4:37Speaker 2: I don't know Dale, so I can't say if he's good, bad,
- 4:40Speaker 2: and different. I don't love any of anybody getting kind
- 4:44Speaker 2: of put on a pedestal in these experiences. I think
- 4:48Speaker 2: all of them are beautiful, all of them are there
- 4:51Speaker 2: to find love. I like equal playing fields in Paradise
- 4:56Speaker 2: because it's fun to see the Tanner Tolbert's Mary the
- 5:00Speaker 2: Jades of the world, which nobody would have expected. Now
- 5:03Speaker 2: that Tanner's in not a handsome dude, he is, He's
- 5:06Speaker 2: a great guy.
- 5:07Speaker 3: Funny Jade was the bombshell who entered the villain exactly.
- 5:11Speaker 2: So that's why I say I like during these kind
- 5:14Speaker 2: of shows, especially Paradise, who does it, I think better
- 5:16Speaker 2: than anybody when it comes to the equal playing field.
- 5:20Speaker 2: The Dylan's marrying the Hannahs, like, those are the scenarios
- 5:24Speaker 2: that stand out in my mind that I love. And
- 5:27Speaker 2: I think putting anybody on a pedestal makes them so
- 5:30Speaker 2: much of the pursuit that a lot of these kind
- 5:34Speaker 2: of like maybe quieter, nerdier people maybe don't get a shot. Okay,
- 5:39Speaker 2: that's my statement whatever. But the two things I'm most
- 5:42Speaker 2: interested to talk about with you on the breakdown after
- 5:46Speaker 2: our breakdown is the resource. So let's start there. I
- 5:50Speaker 2: think the reason I said Tanner said this perfectly is
- 5:53Speaker 2: because he's right. They either get a really great villa
- 5:55Speaker 2: for this show, or you know, they get some type
- 5:59Speaker 2: of how But I think the reason I said last
- 6:02Speaker 2: episode that it was hard for me to follow was
- 6:04Speaker 2: because of how segregated this resort is. They're just staying
- 6:08Speaker 2: at a resort. Even when I go on vacation with
- 6:11Speaker 2: my wife at a resort, sometimes we don't see each other,
- 6:14Speaker 2: like we miss each other. She goes to the gym.
- 6:16Speaker 2: All of a sudden, I'm at the cafeteria. We're not
- 6:18Speaker 2: seeing each other for a couple hours, and we meet
- 6:20Speaker 2: each other at the pool. It felt like this during Paradise.
- 6:23Speaker 2: I don't like it. I want them back at one
- 6:26Speaker 2: house all together, intermingling.
- 6:29Speaker 3: Yeah, you could have made it an air conditioned place,
- 6:33Speaker 3: and it made it way boogier than it usually is,
- 6:36Speaker 3: but still kept the whole living together as a community environment.
- 6:40Speaker 2: Yeah. So I'm with the fans. The resort not for
- 6:44Speaker 2: me so far. I'm not sold on it. The cast is,
- 6:49Speaker 2: you know, somebody I do hope create storylines. We want
- 6:51Speaker 2: to give them the benefit of the doubt. There's still people.
- 6:53Speaker 2: They're very similar to the casts of the past. They
- 6:55Speaker 2: just don't have maybe the A listers like the Ashleys
- 6:58Speaker 2: that are there with them. But they'll do their best.
- 7:04Speaker 2: But really, the final point here that I want to
- 7:06Speaker 2: speak with you about is the cash prize. We kind
- 7:09Speaker 2: of glossed over it during our breakdown at the first episode.
- 7:12Speaker 2: I actually now, based on fans' responses, think it is
- 7:16Speaker 2: the most influential and crucial item to this first episode.
- 7:22Speaker 4: Oh I disagree. I will let you know what I
- 7:24Speaker 4: think is, but go ahead.
- 7:26Speaker 2: I don't like it. I have solidly put my stake
- 7:29Speaker 2: in the ground now, and I would love to be
- 7:31Speaker 2: convinced otherwise. I have committed in life to be able
- 7:34Speaker 2: to change my opinion even when I feel strongly about something,
- 7:37Speaker 2: because that's how the best humans of history have operated,
- 7:41Speaker 2: and I'd like to try to get as closer than
- 7:43Speaker 2: as possible. But I don't like it right now. I
- 7:46Speaker 2: don't like that we have separated and kind of made
- 7:49Speaker 2: love now a money grab. It feels like what our
- 7:53Speaker 2: culture and society has done incorrectly, that we're feeling the
- 7:56Speaker 2: repercussions of where you know, kids are now meant to
- 8:01Speaker 2: be influencers, and money seems to be the easy pursuit
- 8:05Speaker 2: of everybody, and everybody's going to try to find their
- 8:07Speaker 2: way to get rich quick. The thing I loved about
- 8:10Speaker 2: Paradise Ashley was still the innocence, the craziness of the scenario,
- 8:17Speaker 2: but the innocence of the environment where the Tanner and
- 8:22Speaker 2: Jade's me that Ashley and Jared's Me, the Hannah and
- 8:26Speaker 2: Dylan's me and love is formed from this beautiful.
- 8:30Speaker 4: Place, Adam and Raven, Adam and Raven.
- 8:33Speaker 2: I just think money takes away from that, and I
- 8:36Speaker 2: don't want the distraction.
- 8:38Speaker 4: Okay, I totally agree with you.
- 8:40Speaker 3: I think we I think the money thing is going
- 8:43Speaker 3: where we think it's going. But let's give him a
- 8:45Speaker 3: little bit of doubt. That it was just teased in
- 8:48Speaker 3: the trailer for the next, you know, the rest of
- 8:50Speaker 3: the season, and perhaps it's not as yucky as we
- 8:54Speaker 3: think it might be. I again think it will be,
- 8:57Speaker 3: but we do not have details on it yet. But
- 9:00Speaker 3: I found to be what people concentrate the most on.
- 9:05Speaker 3: When I'm looking at my responses on Instagram story, I
- 9:07Speaker 3: have like engagement is low this week people because of
- 9:11Speaker 3: Amazon's pride, But I for the amount of people who
- 9:16Speaker 3: have seen this so far in the past hour, I
- 9:18Speaker 3: have at least one hundred messages, most of which are
- 9:24Speaker 3: complaining about the editing. People saying that the editing was distracting,
- 9:27Speaker 3: that it was cheesy, that just felt way to produced
- 9:30Speaker 3: with that kind of editing, and that made the personality
- 9:35Speaker 3: of the show feel totally different.
- 9:48Speaker 2: So fans responses right now from all sides, following x
- 9:55Speaker 2: two messages we've received to the responses we've received on
- 10:00Speaker 2: the Almost Famous podcast, fans don't seem to be giving
- 10:04Speaker 2: up on the show. So that's a good thing.
- 10:06Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, because I think that they know that the
- 10:07Speaker 3: crux is there.
- 10:09Speaker 2: It's just definitely so if Rob Mills is listening to
- 10:12Speaker 2: this podcast at any point, or somebody from his team
- 10:15Speaker 2: is if you want to hear anything from the studies
- 10:19Speaker 2: that we've done that are very unscientific, Fans are not
- 10:24Speaker 2: giving up on the show. However, I do think fans
- 10:28Speaker 2: are a little bit hesitant to fall deeply in love
- 10:32Speaker 2: with this new format. And I think it all comes
- 10:36Speaker 2: down to how can how the season continues to be edited.
- 10:42Speaker 2: I think it comes because the resort if they could
- 10:44Speaker 2: edit that to be great, like they can make any
- 10:46Speaker 2: location work. We've done group dates in the weirdest of
- 10:50Speaker 2: places and they've made it work, and they made it
- 10:52Speaker 2: beautiful and they made it make sense. I'm not worried
- 10:54Speaker 2: about the editing that can change, that can happen. The
- 10:58Speaker 2: cash prize, I think is a concern. Uh, and so
- 11:02Speaker 2: how does that play out? And also how does this
- 11:05Speaker 2: cast step up to make the storylines that we that
- 11:08Speaker 2: we desire. We see in the teaser the Dale Moss
- 11:12Speaker 2: April makeout. I'm not saying that I want to watch it,
- 11:17Speaker 2: but I'm also not saying I don't want to see
- 11:19Speaker 2: weird stuff like that happen because it will keep me
- 11:21Speaker 2: hooked for the next week.
- 11:23Speaker 4: Yeah, that's if that case isn't going was it? Is
- 11:27Speaker 4: it a makeout or did he doth?
- 11:29Speaker 2: I mean like a shot with like a shot?
- 11:32Speaker 4: Okay, it's like then it's being dramatic. Okay. So another
- 11:37Speaker 4: that bringing up Goldens with April.
- 11:39Speaker 3: People are thinking that that the resort change was because
- 11:42Speaker 3: of ac reasons for them.
- 11:44Speaker 4: No, people, that's not the reason. We know. We know
- 11:47Speaker 4: it wasn't because of that.
- 11:49Speaker 2: It was not because of the Goldens coming show. They
- 11:51Speaker 2: weren't saying, hey, the Goldens are coming on, let's get
- 11:53Speaker 2: a mac. I don't think that the Golds.
- 11:56Speaker 3: No, then they would have put the Goldens in a
- 11:59Speaker 3: different spot. If the case, it's interesting that they tease
- 12:02Speaker 3: the Goldens being there so much and then they didn't
- 12:04Speaker 3: incorporate them into a three hour long premiere episode.
- 12:08Speaker 2: Rumor has it they may not be in the next episode.
- 12:10Speaker 3: Either really see what I would have enjoyed is because
- 12:15Speaker 3: I'm not so keen on them being there in the
- 12:17Speaker 3: first place, like I think most of Bache Nation's not.
- 12:21Speaker 4: But I would have been.
- 12:22Speaker 3: Down for two hours of the Young Ends and then
- 12:26Speaker 3: a second hour of the Goldens that would make sense,
- 12:29Speaker 3: or even Monday for the young Ins and Tuesday for
- 12:32Speaker 3: the Goldens. And our producer right now is saying that
- 12:35Speaker 3: they're yeah, not showing up until episode three.
- 12:39Speaker 2: Episode three, I think we'll see the Goldens, which will
- 12:41Speaker 2: be a weird mix in, but we're gonna see how
- 12:44Speaker 2: it works out. Hey, we're having a good time no
- 12:48Speaker 2: matter what. We're gonna be critical but also supportive. We
- 12:51Speaker 2: haven't a good time hearing from you, the fans, the
- 12:53Speaker 2: listeners on what you're thinking of this next season. There's
- 12:58Speaker 2: a lot going on and a lot for us to
- 13:00Speaker 2: pay attention to. So until we can continue to kind of,
- 13:04Speaker 2: I guess, fact check this and make sure that our
- 13:06Speaker 2: assumptions on how everything is going to happen actually happen.
- 13:10Speaker 2: We're gonna stay positive.
- 13:12Speaker 4: Oh I am positive, I know, but.
- 13:14Speaker 2: You and I both really want this to work for
- 13:16Speaker 2: many reasons. One one of my best friends in the
- 13:19Speaker 2: world works on this show. I want to have a
- 13:20Speaker 2: job for the next twenty years. I want to be
- 13:22Speaker 2: sixty years old, and I want Will still behind the bar,
- 13:25Speaker 2: still mixing drinks. I want him to rock and roll
- 13:28Speaker 2: this thing forever. And we also just love the idea
- 13:31Speaker 2: of Paradise. But I actually, I will say this and
- 13:34Speaker 2: I'll say it again. I love the idea of Paradise
- 13:37Speaker 2: because it does put everybody on equal playing field, and
- 13:40Speaker 2: I don't want to see that change. And they felt
- 13:42Speaker 2: like they were changing that with Dale, which to me
- 13:45Speaker 2: made this thing less desirable to watch, because I want
- 13:48Speaker 2: to see Dale Moss come in, or the Sam even
- 13:51Speaker 2: Sam's of the world, who should have been like a
- 13:54Speaker 2: hot commodity, right, good looking guy, stud suave, all those things.
- 13:59Speaker 2: I like that he went home right away, not for
- 14:01Speaker 2: his sake, but I like the fact that nobody was like,
- 14:04Speaker 2: I'm all about it. Yes, Oh my gosh, give me Sam.
- 14:07Speaker 2: I just want to see how this thing shakes out,
- 14:09Speaker 2: because I think we get a better taste of who
- 14:11Speaker 2: these people actually are during Paradise.
- 14:14Speaker 3: Yeah, and I think that so many of the changes
- 14:16Speaker 3: have dominated the chatter. But I do think that we'll
- 14:20Speaker 3: have some good stories come out of this. I enjoyed
- 14:24Speaker 3: many chunks of the episode. I just think that, you know,
- 14:28Speaker 3: the conversation is, it's just there's other things blaring in
- 14:31Speaker 3: our face. So I don't want to like on the
- 14:33Speaker 3: show at all. It was just because there's goodness in there.
- 14:38Speaker 3: There really really is.
- 14:39Speaker 2: Yeah, okay, so that's the breakdown of episode one. That's
- 14:43Speaker 2: what you guys were saying. We didn't even mention in
- 14:45Speaker 2: our recap about Hannah Brown being a part of the show.
- 14:48Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 14:49Speaker 2: Now, Ashley, as we kind of close out here, we
- 14:52Speaker 2: get two episodes next week, the Goldens enter the beach.
- 14:56Speaker 2: From what we hear on episode three, what is your
- 14:59Speaker 2: thoughts on Hannah coming in to be the concierge.
- 15:04Speaker 3: Yeah, okay, so that makes so much more sense than
- 15:06Speaker 3: her being the supposed bubbly girl. Because you were a
- 15:10Speaker 3: little defensive of Wells. I think, I hope I'm not
- 15:13Speaker 3: like putting words in your mouth, but like when you
- 15:15Speaker 3: found out that, like Hannah was coming there, you were like,
- 15:18Speaker 3: they don't need another Bartet or the only champagne.
- 15:20Speaker 2: I think it is Hannah Brown. I'm just the guy
- 15:23Speaker 2: that's been there forever.
- 15:24Speaker 3: Yeah, I think she's the concierge and they're supposed to
- 15:27Speaker 3: ask her for like, Hey, like I would love a
- 15:30Speaker 3: cute setup over by this spot. Can I do an
- 15:33Speaker 3: at home date? That's a cute idea to have her
- 15:36Speaker 3: there for that. However, do I think that Hannah's going
- 15:39Speaker 3: to be disappointed and the fact that she went and
- 15:41Speaker 3: spent three weeks down there and she might have like
- 15:43Speaker 3: three minutes total of their time.
- 15:45Speaker 4: Quite possibly.
- 15:47Speaker 2: I do think she might be. But she gets paid
- 15:49Speaker 2: if she shows up on an episode, so good for
- 15:51Speaker 2: her no matter how often she shows up. However, I
- 15:56Speaker 2: also know that like, this isn't just a character like
- 16:01Speaker 2: Well's works. He serves drinks all day at that beach,
- 16:05Speaker 2: so she is concierging. I'm assuming all day at that beach,
- 16:09Speaker 2: setting stuff up and actually like putting stuff together. We'll
- 16:12Speaker 2: see how she actually feels about it kind of of
- 16:14Speaker 2: this as the season goes on. I'll be interested, because
- 16:19Speaker 2: I don't it's not just a hand me job. Like,
- 16:21Speaker 2: it's not just hey, Well stand up there at the
- 16:23Speaker 2: bar and say bars open and then leave and get
- 16:26Speaker 2: paid for it. No, you're gonna work it. You're there,
- 16:29Speaker 2: he does.
- 16:30Speaker 3: Yeah, you would know, I would assume that, yeah, they're
- 16:32Speaker 3: like actually having her cut the strawberries and dip them
- 16:35Speaker 3: into chocolate.
- 16:36Speaker 2: I think it's so great good. It's nice to get
- 16:39Speaker 2: paid so much and be so humbled at the same time. Hey, anyways,
- 16:43Speaker 2: this is the Almost Famous podcast. It's great to talk
- 16:46Speaker 2: to you all. We'll be back with more episodes this week.
- 16:48Speaker 2: We have a headlines episode. We obviously have some really
- 16:51Speaker 2: great interviews coming your way. We'll keep talking about Paradise
- 16:54Speaker 2: and all the cool stuff happening. So until next time,
- 16:56Speaker 2: I've Been Been.
- 16:57Speaker 4: I've Been Ashley see Yah.
- 17:00Speaker 1: Follow the Ben and Ashley I Almost Famous Podcasts on
