- Lucas: Welcome back to Learn French with Fexingo. I am Lucas. Luna: And I am Luna. Hello everyone. It is so good to be here again. Lucas: It really is. Last episode we talked about housework chores. You know, cleaning up. Luna: Right. Je fais le ménage. But today, let us look at the actual spaces we clean. Lucas: Exactly. The rooms themselves. Let us start with the main gathering spot. Luna: The living room? Where everyone sits? Lucas: Yes. In French, we call that le salon. Luna: Le salon. Okay. Le salon. Lucas: Let me say it slowly for you. Le salon.... Le salon. Luna: Le salon. Got it. It sounds soft. Lucas: It does. Now, where do we eat? Where is the cooking happening? Luna: The kitchen! That is la cuisine. Lucas: Spot on. La cuisine. Listen closely. La cuisine.... La cuisine. Luna: La cuisine. Yeah. Like a chef's station. Lucas: Precisely. Now, where do you sleep? Your private sanctuary. Luna: My bedroom. Is it just la chambre? Lucas: You can say la chambre. But often, to be clear, we say la chambre à coucher. Luna: La chambre à coucher. That is a mouthful. But I like it. Lucas: It is very descriptive. 'Chambre' means room, 'à coucher' means to lie down. So, lying-down room. Luna: Oh, that makes sense. La chambre à coucher. I will remember that. Lucas: Good. Now, tell me, Luna. Where do you brush your teeth? Luna: In the bathroom. Of course. La salle de bain. Lucas: Correct. La salle de bain. Let us break it down. La salle de bain.... La salle de bain. Luna: La salle de bain. Salle... de bain. Bath room. Lucas: Exactly. Finally, if you have an outdoor space, what do you call it? Luna: The garden? Or yard? Le jardin? Lucas: Yes. Le jardin. Listen. Le jardin.... Le jardin. Luna: Le jardin. Simple and elegant. Lucas: Very. So, we have five key rooms. Le salon. La cuisine. La chambre à coucher. La salle de bain. And le jardin. Luna: Let us try them all together. One by one. Lucas: Ready? First, the living room. Luna: Le salon. Lucas: Next, the kitchen. Luna: La cuisine. Lucas: Then, the bedroom. Luna: La chambre à coucher. Lucas: And the bathroom. Luna: La salle de bain. Lucas: Finally, the outdoor space. Luna: Le jardin. Lucas: Perfect. You are picking these up quickly. Luna: Thanks, Lucas. It helps to visualize my own apartment while saying them. Lucas: That is the best way. Visual association sticks. Luna: I picture myself in le salon, drinking coffee from la cuisine. Lucas: A cozy scene. Then I go to la chambre à coucher to rest. Luna: After I wash up in la salle de bain, of course. Lucas: And maybe step out into le jardin for some fresh air. Luna: A perfect day at home. I love this vocabulary set. Lucas: Me too. It is very practical. Luna: Before we go, I want to mention something important. Lucas: Sure thing. What is on your mind? Luna: Back to our words. Can you repeat le salon for me? Lucas: Of course. Le salon. Luna: Le salon. It feels right in my mouth now. Lucas: It does. And la cuisine? Luna: La cuisine. I can almost smell the bread baking. Lucas: That is the power of language. Evoking senses. Luna: So true. What about la chambre à coucher? Lucas: La chambre à coucher. Very clear distinction. Luna: I think I will use that more often than just la chambre. Lucas: Do so. It adds a nice rhythm to your sentences. Luna: And la salle de bain? Still tricky? Lucas: Not anymore. You said it perfectly earlier. Luna: La salle de bain. Yes. I believe you. Lucas: Excellent. And finally, le jardin. Luna: Le jardin. My favorite place to relax. Lucas: We have covered five essential spaces today. Luna: Le salon, la cuisine, la chambre à coucher, la salle de bain, and le jardin. Lucas: Repeat them in your head as you walk through your own home. Luna: I will point at things and whisper the French names. Lucas: That is exactly how we learn. By connecting word to object. Luna: It feels less like studying and more like exploring. Lucas: Exploration is the goal. Keep building your world in French. Luna: I am excited for next time. We always make it fun. Lucas: We do. Practice these phrases until we chat again. Luna: See you soon, everyone. Au revoir! Lucas: Au revoir. Thank you for joining us on Learn French with Fexingo.
