- 0:30so it's either been a long time because my memory sucks or I missed it.
- 0:35Can we can? Can you explain? Can we explain that they?
- 0:40Yes, the foot long sandwich was for Chad. Okay, the dog was
- 0:46for Dan, and then the teddy Bear was for me because of my love
- 0:50Paddington. Oh look who arrived? I gotcha? Oh hey, sorry you
- 1:00it doesn't have to be a supplemental now, yeah, that's no. You
- 1:03know what, my the security settings on my iPad every ninety days or whatever,
- 1:10you have to change the the passcode right right, and I won't and
- 1:15it won't let you do anything until you change the passcode. So I went
- 1:19to log in and it's like, nope, no Apple product. You have
- 1:25to do this mundane thing before you can do anything else. So yeah,
- 1:30yeah, sorry, someone's dog alert went off. That's it. There's a
- 1:36big there's a big d up in the sky, Commissioner Gorgas looking for me.
- 1:40And yes, that's always on the bottom. Yeah, yeah, you
- 1:48know, and you're a bottom. That's just apparently apparently that kind of morning.
- 1:53Uh apparently I thought I was a bear, but I've been told are
- 2:02all right? Now? Now I have to Now I have to write down
- 2:08my my pass code before I forget it. Do that? Well? Welcome
- 2:14to Trek Cast everyone, the Galaxy Books, Unpredictable, Star Trek. That's
- 2:17right, Star Trek Podcast. That's right. My name is Scott, this
- 2:22is that's Dan, and that's Daniel. Welcome everybody. What up? What's
- 2:28going on? So many people get so excited. We talked about the D
- 2:34Absolutely absolutely, all these dudes on the internet gets so well, I gotta
- 2:39be careful. I've got a big D behind me. That's true. You
- 2:43do? You do? You got you got two big two big d's right
- 2:47above you that, Yes, that's right, I do have you could you
- 2:53could just reach up and grab both of them. There's there's one D and
- 2:57there's there's the other thick D. I for those of you are staring intently
- 3:02into your uh, into your radios, this is awesomely video podcast which you
- 3:07can see the three of us, so check us out on YouTube. Oh
- 3:12absolutely, and you can see the visual fun that we're having. Everyone.
- 3:17Yes, since you're talking about the d I have to bring this up.
- 3:23Okay, guys don't know about it. It's out here in Spokane. It's
- 3:25called Dick's Burgers. Yeah, and get a bag of dicks, right.
- 3:30Yeah. I would love to go out to uh, you say, Spokane
- 3:35and and and try to dig out of Spokane. Yeah. What's even crazier
- 3:38is there's a there's a rooster. There's another word for roosters too, yes,
- 3:45And why is that on a cock? Is a legitimate word for a
- 3:51rooster? That's you know, like or female dog. That these are all
- 3:53perfectly legal, okay words to use. Does the pandem need to have his
- 3:58tongue out while looking at the cock? Well, he's expressing his desires.
- 4:03And you all know hunger is one of the biggest desires a man can get.
- 4:09So how about that Star Trek? You're right, how about that Star
- 4:13Trek? How about that Star Trek? You know, Going on the same
- 4:17theme, I had asked the Facebook group if you know, they'd want to
- 4:21do a show and tell sometime about some of the Star Trek toys that they
- 4:26have and things like that. You know, we all have that and and
- 4:30and so Mike Medina asked me to define toys very specifically, and so I
- 4:36went on to defind toys. So I don't know if it's appropriate to give
- 4:42that definition on the air, but if you want to go to our Facebook
- 4:46group and and look at that particular conversation, it was. It was quite
- 4:49humorous. Indeed, indeed, it was yes, very I figured I might
- 4:55get kicked out of the group after that one. We talked about it with
- 4:59the other Uh yeah, mens just thought about that great him the moderator.
- 5:04Yeah, Oh, how's everyone doing. Oh I'm okay. That sounds not
- 5:14okay. I had I had a birthday. Oh yeah, happy birthday.
- 5:20Yeah, happy birthday. Yeah, I'm older, I feel older, wiser.
- 5:29I don't know if I'm wiser, okay, bud wiser, budweiser.
- 5:34Uh yeah, I'm a you know, I'm a forty seven. God,
- 5:42that sounds crazy. I'm a forty I'm a forty seven year old man.
- 5:46And sometimes I forget that. I'm thank you, thank you, Daryl.
- 5:49Daryl said, happy birthday. Sometimes I forget I'm forty seven. So,
- 5:53you know, yesterday went to karate and I'm breaking boards like uh, you
- 5:58know, like I'm seventeen right. My fist is killing me. Man,
- 6:05I don't think that youth would help you with that. I mean, honestly,
- 6:11you know, it's not like your skin and your you know, I
- 6:15think if you were eight, that would probably still hurt. Yeah, you
- 6:18know, I don't know. I just realized your Daniel son in karate.
- 6:23I listen, I've had to deal with that since nineteen eighty four. I'm
- 6:28sure. I'm sure you've had to deal with it since nineteen eighty four.
- 6:30Now, now take that and insert it into a karate studio, right,
- 6:35it's just a yeah. I have resigned myself to the fact that I will
- 6:41be Daniel's son. Yeah, for the for the rest of my life.
- 6:45It's fine joke. You've heard a time or two. Huh yeah, yeah,
- 6:48maybe a couple couple of times. That's great, that's great. How
- 6:56are you, Daniel? Oh I'm goody karate story. No, not recently
- 7:00at least, yeah. No. We uh, we're redoing my brother's room.
- 7:09So we put in florine and you know, all that kind of stuff,
- 7:14and that's cool. Yesterday to kind of like help move us along,
- 7:18I made breakfast for my dad and myself and my brother in law, and
- 7:23so I had to go over there. And everything in my brother's room is
- 7:26just all over, like the living room and kitchen, and it's a nightmare
- 7:30to get through any of that house. And I'm like trying to cook in
- 7:31all bits. How is how is your brother with it? Is he out
- 7:36of sorts? Very much? So? Yeah, my brother, you know,
- 7:41he's got the down syndrome. We believe he is autistic, even though
- 7:43we've never kind of diagnosis. And yeah, he does not like change.
- 7:46So he's he's very against all events. Yeah, and he lets us know
- 7:54all the time, this is this is wrong, this is wrong. Yeah,
- 8:01yeah, yeah, you know, for somebody with that kind of sensory
- 8:05thing, you know, I mean just a lot of people don't like that
- 8:09kind of change, right, And for anybody that's you know, either on
- 8:11the spectrum or like that, you know, because I've known people, people
- 8:16in my family. Uh yeah, that kind of change can be it's difficult.
- 8:20Well, the thing I tell people is like, he's a man in
- 8:24his forties. He doesn't like change with right, how much hyper more he
- 8:28doesn't like change? Right? Yeah, you can multiply that. Yeah,
- 8:33Dan's given a hand waves to the people. Oh I get you know,
- 8:39you get an Amazon delivery while you're out sitting in sitting in the car talking
- 8:41to yourself, they kind of they kind of make eye contact with you and
- 8:46they're like, do you want this? Or should I put on the porch?
- 8:50Is if you're not here right right? That makes but you Scott,
- 8:54what's going on? Well? I got a little bit of a show and
- 8:58tell. I'm going to post this on the on the Facebook page after the
- 9:01show. But this from May fifteen of two thousand and two. This is
- 9:11me standing next to a klingon at Quark's Bar at the Star Trek Las Vegas
- 9:16Experience. And yeah, so I just happened to come up my no,
- 9:22my mom gave me this picture. She had it. She was doing some
- 9:26cleaning and she came across it. So yeah, I thought i'd share that
- 9:31with everybody. That's that's that's cool. A younger version of me, did
- 9:35you eat the klingon? Is that what happened? If I might have?
- 9:39Yeah, yeah, wow happened. That might have happened. I was going
- 9:46to say that old jokes. Now we got fat jokes. Yeah, what
- 9:56did I do to Dan? Why you aren't? Oh wow? Yeah,
- 10:03no that place I am, but I you know, surgically altered to the
- 10:09bear human. That place was great, it really was. It was the
- 10:16only reason to go to Vegas. Yeah, I still mourn the loss of
- 10:20that place. That place was awesome. And I've said it. I've said
- 10:22it before. I'm gonna say it again, you know. Picard in Generations
- 10:28he described the nexus as being inside joy or inside happiness, and Star Trek
- 10:37the experience was like being inside Star Trek. I'm just wrapping myself inside Star
- 10:45Trek, I know exactly. And I think about I think about, you
- 10:50know, we had that and it's gone and it's gone. Mm hmm.
- 10:58Yeah. See more in the loss. We more in the loss, I
- 11:01do. The line must be drawn here. No, it's got like fat
- 11:09jokes. The line must be driven here this fuck this fat No further,
- 11:13this part of that's awesome. Well, should we get to the news,
- 11:18sure, yees, Star Trek news. All right, first news story is
- 11:26really sad. It's coming to Star Trek dot com, the official website,
- 11:31and unfortunately Star Trek actor Kenneth Mitchell has passed away. For those of you
- 11:37are wondering who that was, he was in Star Trek Discovery. He played
- 11:41multiple Klingons. He was also I believe it was an engineer in the wheelchair
- 11:48fighting als for several weeks. You're cutting out, buddy, Oh can you
- 11:54hear me? Yeah. I don't know if it's the thing with the website
- 11:56again, but you were cutting in and out. Yeah. Uh so,
- 12:01So Kevin has had been fighting al us for several years. He had been
- 12:07the engineer on Starching Discovery, one of them, the one in the wheelchair
- 12:11that one season. Yeah. So and that's too bad. Yeah, So
- 12:18that just was announced today. So I wanted we've talked about him on the
- 12:22show before, or you guys are talking a lot before. Yeah, and
- 12:26being in a wheelchair. Yeah. So with that in mind, talking about
- 12:35Discovery, we'll move on to our next story, which comes to us from
- 12:39geek Tyrant. And I know Dan was very excited when the alerts went out
- 12:45that they knew Star Trek Discovery trailer came out. We got to see a
- 12:48little bit more of what we can expect. It's going to be a ten
- 12:52episode season. It looks like it's Star Trek Discovery National Treasure as they are
- 12:56searching for some sort of treasure. You know, So I don't know if
- 13:03the documents are hit. Did look Yeah, yeah, well, Higeon,
- 13:09so it's time. Yeah, Sergery Discovery National Treasure. I can't wait,
- 13:15Well, is Nicholas Cage in it? Because we talked about that, maybe
- 13:18this is this his surprise appearance. They did spread, they did promise big
- 13:22twists, so you know, yeah, yeah, if Nicholas Cage shows up,
- 13:28you know the secret Treasure is on the back of the Federation Constitution.
- 13:35You know what, I don't imagine you watched the trailer, Dan, I
- 13:39did not. You didn't want to spoil yourself, right, that's a full
- 13:43immersion experience. Here's at this at this point, here's here's what I here's
- 13:50how I feel about Star Trek Discovery. Yes, because we haven't heard it,
- 13:54but okay, no, go ahead, well go ahead. What are
- 14:01your thoughts on start? Star Discovery bad? Start, Star Trek six,
- 14:05The Undiscovered Country probably one of the best Star Trek movies out of the original
- 14:13series. Star Trek five is probably the worst. We would not have gotten
- 14:24Star Trek six if not for Star Trek five. So I look at Discovery
- 14:30as the bridge between having no Star Trek on TV and some of the great
- 14:39things that we've gotten in the last couple of years. So for that reason.
- 14:43I respect it's its existence. I don't enjoy it though. Yeah,
- 14:52you're right. Star Trek Discovery literally is the bridge between it's belong road and
- 14:58the deep. That's true. So maybe Scott didn't get the memo, but
- 15:05I do the singing. Oh pod, oh wow, right, singing wow,
- 15:13get a little, get a little to the letter lawyer big for your
- 15:18bridges there. Well, well, speaking of singing. Right now, the
- 15:26Star Trek cruise is going on, but they have just announced that the thirtieth
- 15:31Anniversary Cruise will be happening next year February twenty third through March second of twenty
- 15:37twenty five. So we can book our tickets ahead of time and go on
- 15:45this giant cruise and hang out with them all sorts of people. You know,
- 15:50I've never been on a cruise. I've never particularly had a desire to
- 15:56be on a cruise. Yeah, However, if I was going to go
- 16:00on a cruise, probably be a start. It would probably be a Star
- 16:03Truks cruise. Yeah, I mean, it could be fun. We're going
- 16:07on our first cruise in June, and the reason why we haven't been on
- 16:12a Star Trek cruise really number one, it's really expensive. But number two,
- 16:18uh, for the last you know, my job that I've had for
- 16:21the last twelve years, I picked my vacations at the end of the year.
- 16:26And you can never guarantee what vacation you picked your vacations for the following
- 16:30year at the end of the year. So I picked my vacations for twenty
- 16:33twenty four in like December of last year. So it's it's too close to
- 16:38like, you know, if I have to wait till December to book the
- 16:41flights and buy the tickets for the cruise, it's sometimes it can be too
- 16:45late. So yeah, that's why we haven't been on it. Well,
- 16:49speaking of unions, you need to get on that. Yeah, yeah,
- 16:53you're absolutely with the real I bet it smells awesome on that Star Trek.
- 17:03Wow, I mean the cruise is going on right now. There are people
- 17:07on the boat, so yeah, I mean it looks fun from the little
- 17:11clips I've seen. But you know, so that whole Instagram versus reality.
- 17:18And then our last news story comes to us from screen Rants. They did
- 17:22an interview with Marina Curtis about Star Trek the Card season three, and I
- 17:27think she gave a very honest assessment about her performance, she said that she
- 17:33thinks it was not her best work. She admits she's like, I didn't
- 17:40have enough screen time to really like delve into things for it to become her
- 17:44best work. So she wasn't on the show very much, which true.
- 17:48So that's why she feels like it wasn't her best work. Does anybody thinks
- 17:52the best actor for the next generation? You know, I didn't want to
- 17:56get into that part of it. She's good, She's very good. Yeah.
- 18:00Yeah, it's again. I think it goes back to the change in
- 18:03format between nineteen eighty seven and now. Back in the day you had you
- 18:10had your twenty six episodes per season, and you know, you may have
- 18:15one or two in there that are Troy episodes, and you have one or
- 18:19two in there that are Jorty episodes, and you have eight or nine that
- 18:23are Data episodes, and you have nine or ten that are Wharf episodes.
- 18:27And you know, when when you have a ten episode season and it's just
- 18:33one continuous story, you get a couple of scenes, that's it, right,
- 18:38And I think that's what she got. She got a couple of scenes
- 18:41and that's it. I don't think there's anything wrong with what she did.
- 18:48There's some scenes with her and Riker and the UH when they're in jail together
- 18:52and they're you know, sharing a few moments. Her when he calls her
- 19:00for the NY seventh time, she's like, I should have taught you a
- 19:03different word. Yeah, yeeah. So it's it's fine, Yeah, it's
- 19:11you know. The other thing is because she didn't have a lot of screen
- 19:15time when she's interviewed about this stuff, she needs something to talk about,
- 19:22right, So what easier to say? You know, what's easier to say?
- 19:25Then? Yeah, you know, I would have liked some more time
- 19:27to uh to work on this, and I don't think it was my best
- 19:30work. You know, you don't sound arrogant when you say I don't think
- 19:33it was my best work. I wish I could have done a little bit
- 19:36better. So right, yeah, right, Yeah, it's a pretty safe
- 19:38thing to say. Yeah, exactly exactly. So Marina, you did fine.
- 19:44We enjoyed it. Yeah, so you're a fine You're a fine actress,
- 19:48despite what the guy in the bottom says. That's right, and the
- 19:53bottom are Yeah. All right, Well that's all the news story. Should
- 20:02we get to our main topic? Yeah, what's what's the topic? All
- 20:07right, fun will now come out? All right? What if I said
- 20:14no, I don't know, I don't know. No, I don't want
- 20:18to get to the main topic. Oh no, you're all right, back
- 20:21it up. I want to talk about what I want to talk about.
- 20:23Well, what do you want to talk about? I want to talk about
- 20:26the main topic. Okay, Well we're gonna talk about the main topic right
- 20:30now. Okay, So we're gonna do another tier list. We're gonna rank
- 20:36Scie franchises. The whole idea is to make the internet really mad at us,
- 20:41apparently, Okay, as we'll do on here. They've got like Star
- 20:47Trek listed like eight million times because all the different series. I just want
- 20:51to do like per franchise, right, So just start Trek once and got
- 20:56it? Just one one version of Star Wars just overall. And Stargate right
- 21:03and what, well, there's a show called Stargate that's based on them.
- 21:10It's a it's a medium of the show that's based on a slightly better movie.
- 21:12Yeah, and I think the ground rules should be like I used to
- 21:17talk about it. Yeah, it's not like oh I liked you know,
- 21:22I don't know. The first season of d S nine but not the third,
- 21:26right, So I don't know how to feel about it. But just
- 21:30like if I put on Star Trek right now and just tell you, hey,
- 21:33we're gonna watch Star Trek. Are you excited or are you not?
- 21:36Where do you ring that? You know? Incompagain? Yeah, you're talking
- 21:41about the whole fifty something years of Star Trek. Correct, correct, the
- 21:47franchise as a whole for each one that we go over, right, all
- 21:49right, so we're gonna watch Matrix. If I tell you we're gonna watch
- 21:52the Matrix, are you excited or not? Okay, that's all the movies.
- 21:56What's this podcast called treck Cast? So put star Check on the top
- 22:03right. That's oh, come on right right right, that's our show.
- 22:11Thank you for joining us. We'll see you next week, checks the call.
- 22:15Let's go to the others. We've got two thousand and one of Space
- 22:18Odyssey by Bob Yeah, so the Triple S, Tire, the S Tier.
- 22:25I don't know who makes these ranking titles, but whatever, A B,
- 22:29C, D, E. F. Can I can I grab a
- 22:33franchise here? Can I see a franchise here that I think? Okay?
- 22:41Okay, that's fair. Two thousand and one of Spaces. Never seen it
- 22:45me either, you've never seen it. I've seen it. I'm not sure.
- 22:52I'm not sure I get it. Okay, Wait, that's that's a
- 22:56movie, right, Yes, is a movie. Yes, all right,
- 23:02once you once you see it, you will you will see you will realize
- 23:07how many other things have done homages to it. So maybe just kind of
- 23:12like, what's that maybe see tire kind of in the middle. Sure,
- 23:18bad, not great, just you know it's fine, okay, Alien and
- 23:26again this is the whole franchise, the whole franchise, all the Xenomore films,
- 23:30Okay, because for me, the the Aliens, the second one is
- 23:36sort of lifting all the rest of them up in my heart. Right,
- 23:38that's the thing. A lot of those movies are not that great. Yeah,
- 23:42but see it's hard for me to rank it against something I've never seen
- 23:47it seen before. So I also would put that right in the middle.
- 23:52Okay, I can see that. And like before, we've done this before,
- 23:56where we can you know, if we have to throw a majority of
- 23:59them in the middle just because we don't know, and then we can,
- 24:00yeah, we can move them around, move them around. And I want
- 24:03people to know that this is the definitive list. So if you have an
- 24:07opinion that's different, it's wrong. We're making it all correct. It is
- 24:17Babylon five. I watched three or four episodes of it back in nineteen ninety
- 24:23two, yeah, or whenever it came out, and yeah, that's it
- 24:30was. It was one of these shows where it was on at the same
- 24:33time as Deep Space nine. Yeah, and I was like, these are
- 24:37very similar shows, but this one's Star Trek, and I like Star Trek,
- 24:41so I'm going to watch that one. I've heard it's a good show.
- 24:48There's a lot of people out there that really like it. It's his
- 24:51name, j Michael Strazinski. I think it's the guy who wrote the whole
- 24:56thing. You know, he's a good Writer's one of those things where it's
- 25:00been on my to do list for about thirty years at this point. Maybe
- 25:07maybe someday, I don't know, the next pandemic, I'll zip through the
- 25:11whole thing. We go. Yeah, But I as far as if we're
- 25:17talking about getting excited about it, I don't know. Put it at E
- 25:22Yeah, I agree. I can't be excited about something that thirty years has
- 25:26gone by and I never did the time to Watt you'll e as well.
- 25:30I've seen one episode I couldn't dig it and that was it, So it
- 25:33is okay, so oh Jesuis has given it the try, Dan, you
- 25:38know, yeah, I probably will. It's one of those things where you
- 25:45know, I have a list and it never quite as I crossed things off
- 25:48the list, other things go on the list, and it just never has
- 25:51made it to the top. So right, I get that. I don't
- 25:56know, yeah, yeah, okay, let's see. Next one is Cowboy
- 26:00Bebop. I don't even know what it is. Okay, I know what
- 26:04it is. I really like it. It's it's an anime. They made
- 26:08a live action version on Netflix a couple of years ago or a year ago
- 26:11something like that that was not very well received. But the anime is really
- 26:17good. I like it a lot at least, Scott are you do you
- 26:23know Cowboy Bebop? I've heard of it, watched it. Right, It's
- 26:29a thing that I know exists. Okay, right, see, there are
- 26:33things on this list that I'm going to tell you I have never seen that
- 26:37are going to be controversial, but that's fine. This is not controversial that
- 26:41I've never seen Cowboy Bebop, I don't think. But okay, Chas Basins
- 26:48is going to have some things to say. Well, like I told him,
- 26:49Like I told everybody, this is the list. Sorry, yeah this
- 26:55is it works all right, since you guys haven't seen it, but I'm
- 26:57really gonna fight for I'm gonna say okay, okay, okay, all right,
- 27:02yeah Blade Runner. Never saw it? Oh Man Scott says when I
- 27:10said Blade Runner was so oh wow, I'm writing it down on the list
- 27:17right now. I bought Blade Runner on DVD. I don't know when did
- 27:23DVD start becoming a thing the late nineties, believe Yeah, yeah, I
- 27:29watched it, and I think it was the director's cut. I don't I
- 27:33don't think I've ever seen the theatrical cut. I don't know which one is
- 27:37believed to be better. Again, it was one of those that I watched
- 27:42it and I was like, I don't know, Yeah, I don't know
- 27:45if I get it. Yeah. Now this is including everything from the you
- 27:52know, the franchise. So what about how do you guys feel about the
- 27:53new one that came out. I never watched that either. I saw it.
- 27:57I've seen them both. They're okay, there you know, you can
- 28:03see that it's inspired so many other things. You know, Okay, I
- 28:08would give it see to here, man, I can't argue with it.
- 28:12Yeah, okay, all right, next one, Battlestar Galactica put that right
- 28:18under Star Trek. Yeah, I can't disagree. I see my relationship with
- 28:27Battlestar Glacktic. I've never seen the original one, the new one that came
- 28:30out. I don't know what was going on at the time it came out,
- 28:34what two thousand and three issue. It ran for how many seasons,
- 28:41I don't know because they were weird seasons. I never saw the last season
- 28:49because they seemed up in a weird way. I but here's the thing.
- 28:52I saw the last episode, or I saw the end of the last episode,
- 28:56so I know how it ends. But you know, it's been so
- 29:00long since I've seen it. I actually want to rewatch it. Go,
- 29:03go do it. I did it last year. I did it last year.
- 29:08I enjoyed just about every minute of it. Still hold up second viewing
- 29:12it's it still holds up. What I what I love about it is it's
- 29:18and it's twenty years old at this point, but I'm watching it. It's
- 29:22like this is modern society. Everything is the same. The clothes they wear
- 29:29are the same, the things they say are the same, the weapons that
- 29:34they carry are the same. The only difference between modern Society and Battlestar Galacta
- 29:41is oh, okay, they have space travel. So dare I Yeah,
- 29:48you can put it? No, Nope, No, I have something else
- 29:52that goes there. No, Daniel was about to put it next to Star
- 29:56Trek in the top spot. I can't do that because I have I'm going
- 30:00to vote for that. I didn't do it. It's really it's it's great.
- 30:03It's not near perfection. I've never been able to. I tried to
- 30:10go back and watch the original Battlestar galact and I can only get through a
- 30:14couple of episodes, and and that's I couldn't. I mean, I named
- 30:18my dog Baltar. No, I remember, remember Doctor ber That's right,
- 30:26Yeah, that's right, that's right, all right. But the next one,
- 30:33Back to the Future. Put that yeah right below Star Trek. Yes.
- 30:37Back to the Future is one of my all time favorite franchises. For
- 30:42all of its flaws and for how old it is, I absolutely love it.
- 30:48We watch it usually the trilogy about once a year. It always holds
- 30:52up. It's always great. It's you know, for being what a very
- 30:59lawed story story line. It's a perfect storyline. I love everything about it,
- 31:03the car, the close everything. I love how badly they predicted twenty
- 31:11fifteen that that right there makes it amazing. I love that flying cars,
- 31:19coverboards, all that kind of stuff. I you know, I like it.
- 31:26I think it's a good time. I don't think it is that high,
- 31:30but I'll fight you for it. I think that's fine. If you're
- 31:33talking about if you're talking about getting excited to watch it, Yeah, I
- 31:41agree that it whoa. I'm just saying, you leave it right where it
- 31:48is voted. We can we can argue about it later. We could argue
- 31:55about it later. But I'm gonna give you an example. You talked,
- 31:56you talked about getting excited. Okay, Now, my son has got to
- 32:00be careful because he's the only one of here that's got the power to kick
- 32:04it. Froll. Oh that's true. My son is eleven years old.
- 32:08Okay, I've watched these movies with him. He's seen them. He's seen
- 32:13them multiple times. Yeah, he was not alive in nineteen eighty five.
- 32:20He was three years old. In twenty fifteen and it doesn't look anything like
- 32:23the twenty fifteen that he knows, and he has never seen a Western Okay,
- 32:32and he loves watching these movies with me. That's got to mean something.
- 32:37That's Truely, I'm excited just talking about it. I know there is
- 32:43there's Okay. So do you remember when Star Trek did the musical episode last
- 32:50year and before it, I was like, oh God, I hate musicals.
- 32:55And I still, for the most part hate musicals. Although I enjoyed
- 33:00that episode of Star Trek, I really do not like music musicals. There
- 33:05is currently a Back to the Future musical down in New York down in New
- 33:10York City. It's running right now, and like every time the commercial comes
- 33:16on, I'm thinking about throwing the family on the train and going down to
- 33:22Manhattan to see Back to the Future the musical. When I go down there,
- 33:28let's go yeah, yeah, dudes watching a musical. I don't know,
- 33:40get the crew, if Scott, If Scott comes with us, yes,
- 33:47we could be three dudes watching a musical, just me and you.
- 33:57Flight of the Navigator. That's another good one. It's it's not it's not
- 34:01came from a strongbeard herself, right, fancy lads. Indeed, indeed,
- 34:08all right, next one, Doctor Who? Doctor Who? Do you remember
- 34:15about five minutes ago on this podcast when I said there are gonna be some
- 34:20controversial things that I'm going to say, I've never seen. I have never
- 34:23seen a single episode of Doctor Who. So so my memories of Doctor Who
- 34:34so all right, So I grew up in upstate New York, but it
- 34:37wasn't that far upstate that our TV channels were not the New York City UH
- 34:43TV stations. So we had we had two, four and seven, which
- 34:49were CBS, NBC and then ABC. Channel Channel nine was w o R
- 34:55out of Secaucus. Channel eleven was w p i X, and UH channel
- 35:02thirteen. You know, that's the end of the line, right right right.
- 35:07Channel thirteen was PBS, and they used to show Doctor Who. Okay,
- 35:15So when I was flipping through the channels on the dial, boom boom
- 35:17boom boom boom, turning that turning that dial, Yeah, doctor Who is
- 35:22when I knew it was time to turn back and go the other way.
- 35:25Okay, Doctor Who? Doctor Who is the cull the sack of my childhood.
- 35:35That's how I've talked to Okay, wow, I will say that we're
- 35:43all Star Trek fans here, right. And one of the key things about
- 35:46Star Trek fans, or the things about the Star Trek is it's uh,
- 35:52it's very big on on reason and logic and finding common ground with your enemies,
- 35:58which are all hallmarks a Doctor Who. I know you guys haven't seen
- 36:02it. I think you guys would enjoy it if you gave it a chance.
- 36:06Maybe the more modern stuff than the older stuff, but I think you
- 36:08would. I can't even know where to jump in. Yeah, anytime there's
- 36:13a new doctor, and I can tell you, like, go start with
- 36:15here, to start with there? I think you guys, is Doctor Who
- 36:20available on any streaming service we might have. The new stuff is on is
- 36:23on Disney Plus, like the the you know what, those are good launching
- 36:28points, the specials, the ones that were on Disney Plus that happened the
- 36:31last four they just introduced a new doctor, so yeah, those would be
- 36:37great ones. But since you guys have not seen it and I love it,
- 36:42I'm gonna bring it down to here. See, I'm gonna say something.
- 36:46I'm going to say something right now, and maybe it's gonna offend some
- 36:50of our friends from across the pond. Okay, but most British production I
- 37:02find it hard to watch. Yeah, a lot of British comedy I don't
- 37:08get. Sometimes the accents are just too much for me. Okay, It's
- 37:19like, I know this dude to speak in English, but I'll be I'll
- 37:22be damned if I know what he's what he's saying. Yeah, I loved
- 37:25coming from somebody who lives in New York with a clear Yeah, my father
- 37:32with a cap driver. Forget about it. Forget about it. I'm a
- 37:38star trek there yea anyway, like I was saying, the accent, Uh,
- 37:45let me ask you question. I'm a I'm a big fan. I'm
- 37:50a big fan of the Office. Okay. I that's another series that every
- 37:54few years I'll start it over and I'll watch the whole thing from beginning to
- 37:58end. I know it's I know it's based on a on a British show.
- 38:04I've tried to watch the British version and I just can't get through it.
- 38:08I can't get through it. So I don't know if Doctor Who is
- 38:13the same, but my my ethno centrism is uh probably a hurdle for me
- 38:21to get over but get over it. Yeah, if you can get over
- 38:29it. It is very much in the spirit of surgery. And can I
- 38:34can I suggest a I was gonna wait for the end of the show to
- 38:37do this. I was gonna ask if we could make a suggestion, uh,
- 38:42like picks for you know, people to watch or things to do or
- 38:45stuff like that. Like at the end of the show we can say,
- 38:46hey, do you have any suggestions for things to watch? Since we're on
- 38:51the sort of on that topic. Uh, A good gateway drug for you,
- 38:54Dan, if you want to get if you want to check out a
- 38:58British TV. Oh, it's not one hundred percent British, I strongly suggest
- 39:04ted Lasso. Oh yeah, it's only three seasons. It's about I watched
- 39:10it on the suggestion of my friend Amy. She suggested it and said you
- 39:15might like it. And I'm like, what's it about. It's about American
- 39:17football coach. Yes, and he he gets hired as a this European team,
- 39:27soccer team that they also call football, brings them over to coach their
- 39:31soccer team. And I'm like, I have no interest in soccer. I
- 39:35have no interest in England. I don't I barely know who jasonas is like
- 39:42for me, and I watched the first three episodes and I was cooked.
- 39:45In fact, I'm just about ready to watch the series finale. It's only
- 39:47three seasons. Well, I don't know, thirty episodes. It's funny sometimes
- 39:52how certain things you just you know, you know you shouldn't like it,
- 40:00but you do. I've talked about this before, but I watched Peacemaker.
- 40:05Yah. I you know, I'm not a wrestling fan. I can't stand
- 40:09John Cena. I think he's a I think he's a horrible actor. I
- 40:16was a I don't like the d c EU. I loved Peacemaker. I
- 40:25loved it, And every time I think about it, I'm embarrassed about how
- 40:30much I love it because I don't know why. How much did you I
- 40:36loved? I loved I loved the dance number At the first time. The
- 40:43first time, I'm like, what the what the hell am I watching?
- 40:46What is this? And then you and then you thought I'm gonna pass forward
- 40:51everything? And then you ever never, I never never fast forwarded through that
- 40:55thing. I have watched. I've I've probably watched Maker three times. Yeah,
- 41:01in the last year, all the way through. It's a good shown
- 41:06because it was based on my least favorite character from a movie that I thought
- 41:09was Okay, yeah, yep, yep, here's a dick with Bird of
- 41:14Prey in that movie Bird of Prey, right no, no, no,
- 41:17suicide squad yeah kind of two yeah, kind of yeah, the reboot before
- 41:24they reboot everything, right, yeah, the reboot before the before the three
- 41:29boot right right, all right? Next one movie. I think this is
- 41:34supposed to be Dune. I think it cut it off, but it it
- 41:37looks like the Dune font. So yeah, I'm gonna say it is.
- 41:39I'll say it for Scott. Yeah. I've never seen it, Okay,
- 41:45yeah, I haven't seen it. I wrote it down. In fact,
- 41:47I've got it written down from my notes last week that I need to see
- 41:50it. And I have a question for anybody who's seen it. Do I
- 41:52need to see the original one first before I see the one from like twenty
- 41:58twenty. So I got a buddy of mine who major Dune fan. He
- 42:02has read all the books, seen all the movies. I went and saw
- 42:07that the new one in theaters with him, and h you know, I
- 42:12imagine this is what it's like talking to me about Star Wars and Star Trek.
- 42:15He wouldn't shut up about it after we left, right. I know,
- 42:21at one point the main Paula trades turns into a worm. I guess
- 42:25is something. So I'm gonna say, dude, like maybe here it's the
- 42:35inspiration for so many things. Chasbiz is just screaming at his computer right now.
- 42:40But you know, since none of us are that into it, you
- 42:45know, and this is the correct ranking of where it belongs. Yes,
- 42:52this is exactly where it Chai. If Jasbist doesn't agree, then he's clearly
- 42:57wrong. That's right, that's right. Okay, that's where it'll go,
- 43:01right on the d where it belongs with those giant words, all right.
- 43:07Next is The Expanse. Never seen it either. I saw the first couple
- 43:13of episodes. My my friend Andy is a big The Expanse fan. Yeah,
- 43:20and you know, he's told me I need to watch it, And
- 43:22I watched the first couple of episodes and I thought they were good. Yeah.
- 43:27Sometimes I'm not in the mood for drama. Yeah, you know,
- 43:30I'm you know, sometimes I want you know, I always want sci fi,
- 43:36but sometimes I want The Orville. And it might be that I wasn't
- 43:39in the mood for this. It is on my list of shows to eventually
- 43:44watch. But I've heard nothing but great things about it. I've heard the
- 43:47same things does and made me watch it. I know Chad really loved it.
- 43:54You know. I'm thinking it's right up there with five. But I
- 43:59didn't watch it during the pand I'm not going to watch it now. Yeah,
- 44:01okay, if we're talking about being excited to watch it, I'm not
- 44:04really excited to watch it. Yeah. I'm gonna watch it when there's nothing
- 44:07else left and maybe I'll all in love with it. But until the Yeah,
- 44:13that's where it goes, right now, That's that's where Yeah, all
- 44:19right, next one? Next one is far Escape? Which one is this?
- 44:24That's the one with the muppet. It had a Jim Henson muppet in
- 44:30it. I know this is this? Was this? So we can tell
- 44:37that Dan was a big fan. Can you give us a snaps stand?
- 44:42I'm trying to remember what the show is. I I remember the poster.
- 44:45I've never seen it. Yeah, I don't remember what it is. It's
- 44:50uh, I don't remember it either. That's kind of I don't know if
- 44:52that jogs remember at all. I remember the most purple chick yeah. Uh,
- 45:00but you know, I'm gonna say, I'm just gonna say he needs
- 45:02to go all the way down at the bottom. Okay, if none of
- 45:07us really care. Was that one of those shows that was on after Star
- 45:15Trek during Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, like like I
- 45:22remember it used to be there was a new episode of Deep Space nine and
- 45:24then Earth Final Conflict was afterwards, like they were hoping, they were hoping
- 45:29that the Deep Space nine fan was too lazy to get off the couch and
- 45:31change the channel. That's the Earth Final Conflict. That was a Roddenberry thing,
- 45:37wasn't it. Yeah? Yeah, but it was totally it was totally
- 45:40a coattails thing. It's it's like they went through with the shred bin under
- 45:45his desk, and we're like, let's see if there's anything in here that
- 45:50that he tossed. Yeah, this looks good. Let's make a show that
- 45:55same thing. Yes, Yes, that was the other one. Yep,
- 45:58yeah, yep. All right, speaking of Ripoff's Firefly, what do you
- 46:04mean speaking of rip Okay, I'm just making people mad at this point.
- 46:08I have thoughts, Yes, go for it. What are your thoughts?
- 46:14The one season of Firefly? Yeah, and I've always said it. I
- 46:17haven't. I haven't rewatched it in probably it's been over a decade since I
- 46:22rewatched it. Yeah, but it is probably one of my favorite single seasons
- 46:28of television ever. Okay, so I it belongs in the number one or
- 46:35number two spots. I went into Firefly so backwards. I first thing I
- 46:40ever watched was the movie Oh wow, yeah, okay, yeah, I
- 46:45had no idea what was going on, but I thought it was cool.
- 46:47Then I watched the show, and then when reback, went back and watched
- 46:51the movie. Okay, I have because I do audio books, I have
- 46:55listened to a couple of the books. Oh yeah, those are fun as
- 46:59well. I'm gonna say I'm give an a. I don't think it's Yeah.
- 47:07I watched the movie yeah, twenty years ago. Okay, somebody's on
- 47:13somebody's suggestion, because the movie is called something else, right, called Serenity,
- 47:16which is the name. Okay, So, and was that a theatrical
- 47:22release? It was, okay, presidented theatrical release because the show had been
- 47:29over for a while. Yeah, and nobody was making movies about TV shows
- 47:34that had been canceled. And Firefly is another example of of the how do
- 47:39I put this nicely, of the stupid executives at Fox not knowing what they
- 47:45had. These are the same people that canceled Terminator's air Kno Chronicles. Well,
- 47:51we'll talk. We'll talk about that, I'm sure because Terminators on this
- 47:53list somewhere right, and the people at the w B are making he the
- 47:59the c W are making the same mistake with the Superman and Lois for the
- 48:04exact same reason that they anceled us Sarah Kinta Chronicles. But anyways, Firefly,
- 48:08I would the question has been posed to me by people sometimes. Name
- 48:15a perfect movie, you know, and that doesn't mean a movie that grows
- 48:17the most or gallat acting. Name a perfect movie. Galaxy Quest is an
- 48:22example of a perfect movie. I would put How To Train Your Dragon a
- 48:28perfect movie. I would put Firefly up there as as a perfect series.
- 48:35I loved everything about it. It was it was great. I watched it
- 48:39in the number two spots. I watched the movie, uh twenty years ago
- 48:45on somebody's suggestion. I was made aware. I was made aware of the
- 48:50series. I remember enjoying the movie, but nothing made me go seek out
- 48:58the series. Nothing made me watch the movie again ever again. So I
- 49:04don't know. Out of all the series that I've suggested to friends over the
- 49:07years, I have suggested this over Star Trek, okay, okay, and
- 49:14I would put I would put this season. I would put Firefly up against
- 49:19Star Trek any day, really, because if you if you watch it,
- 49:23we're talking we're talking about We're okay, we're talking about the whole franchise of
- 49:30Star Trek though, so you're saying hold on exactly, So you're talking about
- 49:37thirteen hours of content, and yeah, this is Scott's last you know,
- 49:45for you, for you to put thirteen hours of content up up against ts
- 49:52TNNG, Deep Space Nine, Voyager, Enterprise, Strange, New World's Discovery
- 49:58and what have we got fifty movies at this point? Yeah, yeah,
- 50:01yeah, you know, come on, man, that next week, I
- 50:05would imagine that I'm going to be reading a letter that says something along the
- 50:07lines of Deer Trek cast fans and but I am always trying to change and
- 50:13to grow. That's right, that's right. You're gonna make your video apology.
- 50:17I regret my decision. I'm about to do an apology tour. Yeh
- 50:24chs chess B says, you're getting voted off the island. Long Live the
- 50:29Federation. See, I knew I hadn't been this on the show long enough
- 50:34to make this take this kind of risk. Yeah, and now it begins.
- 50:39All right, I think we should skip. Like the video game franchises,
- 50:44we're not really gamers. So yeah, okay, I agree. Mad
- 50:49Max is the next one. Oh, I've never seen any of them.
- 50:55I saw the original and I was, I don't know, twenty five years
- 51:01ago. Maybe yeah, it didn't, you know. I'm just I'm just
- 51:07gonna say this. What's that the d D level putting it with du Yeah
- 51:15that chess bist. I'm sure chests Bis agrees. Yeah, that's fine.
- 51:20Yeah what Yeah, Chas bits in the chat he says what Yeah, did
- 51:29I read that? Chastis? What? Guys? All right? Next one,
- 51:36The Matrix groundbreaking. I've said it before. This was the first.
- 51:44Matrix was my favorite movie going experience of all time. Yeah, my my
- 51:49buddy Gabe and I were just kind of be bopping around. It was nineteen
- 51:52ninety nine, summer ninety nine, and we were just we went to the
- 51:54movie theater with no idea what we're going to go see? We you know,
- 51:59So we went we were like, we're looking you know, we're looking
- 52:00up at the Marquee. We're like, okay, we can go see this
- 52:02comedy and there's this uh, you know, drama, and then there's a
- 52:07sci fi and we just kind of it kind of flipped the coin and said,
- 52:09let's go see this sci fi looking one with zero expectations, and right,
- 52:15you know, obviously left the movie theater blown away. So as a
- 52:20franchise, it just kept getting worse and worse and worse. Yeah, Matrix,
- 52:23reloaded, Matrix, regurgitated, Matrix. Twenty years later, we want
- 52:28to make some money, can we whatever? Yeah, can we suckle a
- 52:32little more cash from the teeth of this aging franchise? Yeah, So that's
- 52:38that's that's how I feel about it. I mean, on the strength of
- 52:42the first one, you know, it's got to be above the expanse in
- 52:46Dune, right, And that's that's what I would put I would put it
- 52:52above Dune. Dan. Yeah, Dan, what are you? What are
- 52:58your thoughts on this? That's what his thoughts are. He just went away.
- 53:02Yeah, well, I'm going to agree with you. I think it's
- 53:06right in the sea level. Yep. I think that's right where it belongs.
- 53:10It's not that I hate it, but it's just it's not as great
- 53:14as it could be. Yeah. So yeah, and as you'll see,
- 53:19there are a lot of franchises here where you're like, oh, I love
- 53:22the you know, the Star Wars franchise or the you know whatever franchise.
- 53:27But you gotta remember a lot of we're stinkers, you know. Yeah,
- 53:30well a lot of them are repeats. So we're just you know, since
- 53:34that on is there, and then I found the Dune logo that I'm gonna
- 53:36put that there, so okay, there you go. Yeah, okay,
- 53:39so only got like four more really because all the rest are repeats, so
- 53:45we're part of the same franchise. Yeah, there's ben Sorry, guys,
- 53:50that's sure what happened. So we just put we just put Star Trek lower,
- 53:55two tiers lower. Yeah, yeah, we're gonna put it. We
- 54:00said you wouldn't mind, right, all right, next one the terminator?
- 54:05Hold on, what what what did I miss? Though? Seriously, you
- 54:07miss Mad Max? Which was okay, matrix matrix Matrix, all right,
- 54:15that's I can live with that. Were you here for the conversation? We
- 54:17just said that, you know, one good movie and like three stinkers.
- 54:22Although the Animaterix was good. Yeah, the Animaterix was good. I only
- 54:27saw the first Matrix. It was a good movie. I'm gonna I'm gonna
- 54:31upset a lot of people by saying this. Uh, Keanu Reeves is a
- 54:37good actor. Okay, he he was not always a good actor. He
- 54:43has improved over time. And I think the first Matrix movie was before that
- 54:49occurred. So fair enough. Yeah, so Matrix hate by Dan That's all
- 54:53right, I did say hated it. Okay, say, okay, all
- 55:00right, Well Terminator where are we at? This is the sea a perfect
- 55:05example of what I was just talking about. I think everybody can agree that
- 55:08Terminator two was the best movie. Yeah, that was the high one.
- 55:14It absolutely was that. That was also in my in my list of near
- 55:19perfect movies. Yep. It told a almost perfect story. It had it
- 55:23had really high stakes it. You know, it's it's a movie. It's
- 55:29a movie about a killing machine. Yeah, and I cried at the end.
- 55:32Yeah, but there were there was Terminator three, and then there was
- 55:40the other two or three movies that didn't have anything to do with Arnold Schwarzenegger
- 55:45and uh, dark Fate is out there. I didn't hate it. I
- 55:50didn't love it. It was nostalgic because it drew from Terminator two specifically and
- 55:55sort of ignored the rest. Sarah kna Chronicles a very underrated series. Yes,
- 56:01it was excellent. Uh you know Summer Glow. Uh you know,
- 56:08and uh, the the person who played Sarah, she was also in the
- 56:13Game of Thrones, you know. I thought she did a pay oh yeah,
- 56:15yeah, so but it gets dragged down by you know, Arnold Schwarzenegger
- 56:23and assless chaps, right, you know, and and star sunglasses. I
- 56:30feel like this all brings it up. But okay, I mean some of
- 56:37the later movies are terrible. The latest one, what was that Dark Fate?
- 56:40Yes, I was pretty solid. I like it. Yeah, but
- 56:45I think they had done so many bad ones that people just did not care
- 56:47anymore. You know. I actually, uh, I actually like I still
- 56:52like Terminator three. Yeah, I actually don't think that one's bad. Yeah.
- 57:00Everything, And I liked Sarah Connor Chronicles. Yeah. Everything after that
- 57:07was a misstep in one way or another. I rewatched some of those from
- 57:13time to time, Okay, And I don't know why I think in this
- 57:23agreed and what we're talking about yep, maybe we learned. We learned.
- 57:30We learned this week that we got people who only listen to the audio version.
- 57:32So we keep saying, I think this, I think we have to
- 57:37explain what this is. Okay, So so I think either B or Sea
- 57:40level and B level we've already got Doctor Who and Co and Cowboy Bebop Sea
- 57:49level, we've got two thousand and one of Space Outsse, the Alien franchise,
- 57:52Matrix Runner, and Blade Runner. Yeah. So Daniel was thinking it's
- 57:58on par with Cowboy Bebop Doctor Who. Yeah, and this is supposed to
- 58:06look like a bell curve at the end that it often does, I would
- 58:08imagine, because you know, most of them are good, a few are
- 58:14great, a fewer stinkers. Yeah. I don't know what do you guys
- 58:21think. I mean, I'm fine with either one. I think we can
- 58:22put it in one category, move on, and then tweak it. Okay,
- 58:27let's leave it. See, I feel like it's it's Sea level,
- 58:30you know, fair enough? All right? The next one, tron Uh.
- 58:36I saw the original one in junior high school in my in my intro
- 58:44to computers class. Well, they had computers. Oh yeah, yeah,
- 58:52it was an Avocus all right, move the beads. I was gonna give
- 59:01you some credit. I figured you'd have to like take the tape out.
- 59:06I think I think Tron is a really good idea. I think it has
- 59:13some nice elements to it, but as a story, especially the second one,
- 59:21it's just not that great. Yeah, and I think it's probably d
- 59:30or each here towards the bottom either. Yeah. I think visually it looks
- 59:36fantastic, especially the newer one Tron legacy. I think it looks amazing,
- 59:39but there's not a lot of substance to it, you know. So yeah,
- 59:45I would say eat here, Okay, yeah, okay, when we
- 59:50got two more, the rest of these are all repeats. So when we
- 59:52got two, we got the Twilight Zone in Star Wars, So let's do
- 59:54the Twilight Zone. I'm sure all of us has seen at least one episode
- 1:00:02of the Twilight Zone. I've seen a few episodes of the Twilight Zone.
- 1:00:07Well, and remember they made a Twilight Zone remake right when Discovery kicked off,
- 1:00:12and that came and went right. Yeah, I didn't see any of
- 1:00:15that. I've seen a couple of reruns of the original, you know,
- 1:00:20back in the day, of which there's only one that I can remember.
- 1:00:24I can only remember the it's either one or two. The guy who gets
- 1:00:30shrunk down into a tiny, tiny like it's like a little terrarium of like
- 1:00:37a city or something. Remember that one. And I remember the one at
- 1:00:40the end where he gets he's a big, big into reading and he's all
- 1:00:46by himself, he's the last person on the planet. He gets stuck in
- 1:00:49a library and then he breaks his glasses. I remember that. Oh yeah,
- 1:00:52but it's not just it's the cultural impact too of the Twilight Zone.
- 1:00:55I'd be excited to watch it again. There's the famous one, William Shanner,
- 1:00:59there's a grim on the way. Yeah, that's right, the Grimlins.
- 1:01:01So I think you also have to consider that the Twilight Zone has been
- 1:01:09imitated so many times. Okay, there's so many shows out there that take
- 1:01:17that Twilight Zone format. What's what's that show we watched a few years ago.
- 1:01:22We watched the one episode because it had a Star Trek themed episode,
- 1:01:25Black Mirror. Black Mirror is the Twilight Zone. Yeah, used to be
- 1:01:31a show on HBO called The Hitchhiker. Yeah it's Twilight Zone. Yeah,
- 1:01:38what's the Tales from the Crypt Twilight it's a twilet Zone, Freddy's Freddy's Nightmares,
- 1:01:45twilight Zone, thirteenth the series, it's the twilight Zone. Yeah,
- 1:01:51creep show, it's the Twilight Zone. They've you know, they've put a
- 1:01:54different name on it so many different times, but it's the same show.
- 1:01:59Yeah. The cultural impact I think is pretty big. I would say be
- 1:02:04tier then yeah, yeah, which is which is the third third tier?
- 1:02:09Right? Which is right in line with Captain or Tawboy Bebop and Doctor Who's
- 1:02:15all right? Aga? The last one that we have on our list.
- 1:02:17People are saying X files to add in there. I don't know how to
- 1:02:21add things to this, so sorry, on the list. Uh, Star
- 1:02:24Wars, put it right up on the top with Star Trek and then we'll
- 1:02:30argue about it. Okay, I can agree with that. Put it on
- 1:02:32the top and we'll argue about it. So these two, okay, So
- 1:02:37for people just listening, yeah, right right now, there are two franchises
- 1:02:42at the top of this list battling for supremacy, Star Trek and Star Wars,
- 1:02:46and we we can't ignore the fact that the legacy of these two franchises
- 1:02:53are so intertwined. Right now, Star Trek, Star Trek with out in
- 1:03:00the sixties. It found success in syndication in the in the seventies, they
- 1:03:09kept trying to remake it, either into another series or into a movie,
- 1:03:15and they couldn't get it off the ground. The one of the only reasons
- 1:03:19Star Wars was made is because they were pointing to the success of this show
- 1:03:23in syndication called Star Trek. And then Star Wars was made and it was
- 1:03:29such a huge hit that Paramount woke up and said, you know, we
- 1:03:32got this thing called Star Trek that the kids really like. We could throw
- 1:03:37a bunch of money at this thing and maybe get some of that Star Wars
- 1:03:42money. And they did, and forever these two franchises are intertwined now.
- 1:03:45So there's there's that famous picture of I don't know, I don't know what
- 1:03:50convention it's at, but there's a famous picture of George Lucas shaking hands with
- 1:03:53Geene Roddenberry and just you know, all the fields when you see that.
- 1:04:00So I don't know which one should take this top spot. This is a
- 1:04:05Star Trek on Trek cast. You don't know which one should be the top
- 1:04:12I love I love me some Star Wars. In the last ten years.
- 1:04:16They've done some really great things with it. They've also done some really poor
- 1:04:21things with it, as they have with Star Trek. So this this the
- 1:04:29sequel trilogy of Star Wars, absolute hot garbage, absolute hot garbage. If
- 1:04:34I could erase it from existence, I would. Yeah. The Mandalorian for
- 1:04:42the most part, has been amazing, right, uh baby Yoda as as
- 1:04:47a character, as as something to get people excited and reignite interest. Holy
- 1:04:56cow, yep did they make Did they make some mistakes with the Mandalorian?
- 1:05:02Yes, sure, they took They took Boba Fett's whole stick and gave it
- 1:05:08to some other guy, right, and then when it was time to do
- 1:05:11something with Boba Fett, they had to do something different with him because they
- 1:05:14gave his whole stick away, and so his projects became I don't want to
- 1:05:18say a failure, but it wasn't what it should have been, right,
- 1:05:25Yeah, everybody agrees the Book of Bulbafet wasn't as good as the Mandalorian.
- 1:05:28In fact, a lot of the Book of Boffet was the man. Yeah,
- 1:05:31yeah, but yeah, when you compare, you know, it was
- 1:05:35one of the newer producers. I think one of the newer producers for the
- 1:05:40J J Abrams Star Trek said, you know they can when they compared Star
- 1:05:45Trek and Star Wars. You know, Star Trek is uh classical music and
- 1:05:50Star Wars is rock. And you know it's hard to say which one is
- 1:05:55better. Is rock and roll better than classical? Well, they're both different.
- 1:05:59And and you know, to talk about franchises and their legacy, you
- 1:06:03don't say what's better Star Wars or Back in the Future, or what's better
- 1:06:08Star Trek or you know, doctor Who, it's it's always Star Trek and
- 1:06:12Star Wars being compared with the right. Those are the two, yeah,
- 1:06:15you know, and we don't go to the conventions. It's Star Trek and
- 1:06:17Star Wars and part and part of that is simply the name. You know,
- 1:06:27they both start with the word star. I feel like I feel like
- 1:06:30if Star Trek was called Galaxy Quest since nineteen eighty two or nineteen sixty two
- 1:06:35or whatever, you know, I don't think we'd have it might have been
- 1:06:40different. This thing so much, I think because the average person, well
- 1:06:45not the average person anymore, but there's still people out there that you know,
- 1:06:49don't know the difference. They're completely clueless and they don't know the difference.
- 1:06:56So I yeah, so I think the names, just the similarities in
- 1:06:59the names kind of people end up putting these things up against each other when
- 1:07:04they really don't belong there. Star Trek is science fiction. Star Wars is
- 1:07:09fantasy that takes place in outer space. It's not science Star Wars is not
- 1:07:12science fiction. No, it just isn't. Yeah, I agree with that.
- 1:07:16With that compared when you say the average person, it makes me think
- 1:07:19of that that scene from Wrest and Development with lady goes, here's some money,
- 1:07:24go see a star War. Yes, ye, see a Star Wars?
- 1:07:29Which is your favorite Star Wars? Yeah? I like the one with
- 1:07:32Spock. Okay, that's that's fine. So yeah, I think, yeah,
- 1:07:39I think they put the neck and neck. That's fine. They're they're
- 1:07:42both pretty great, you know. So so let's do the rundown. Now
- 1:07:46what we had, Let's do the rundown. We've got at the should we
- 1:07:51go from the bottom of the top. Let's go from the bottom, Okay,
- 1:07:55very bottom. The worst are the worst far escape it's just trash.
- 1:08:00That's fine, don't care about it. Then, still just sitting in the
- 1:08:01trash can just kind of the flies are buzzing around. You got babble on
- 1:08:05five, the Expanse and Tron. I'd like to argue, I'd like to
- 1:08:10make an argument to raise the Expanse up one level? One level? Why
- 1:08:15yeah, why, Well, it's not an argument, that's just saying you
- 1:08:18want to do something, Okay, I'd like to make a statement. Then
- 1:08:23I would have to present my argument. The My argument is everybody I've ever
- 1:08:28talked to that watched the the entire series has said it was fantastic. Okay,
- 1:08:33and for me that does generate a little bit of buzz. Yeah.
- 1:08:36I don't know any of those people, so it can stay where it is.
- 1:08:40Yeah, yeah, Wow, happy with the list? Can I get
- 1:08:48somehow from anybody listening or whos on the YouTube? Uh? Raise five?
- 1:08:56Who said that? Yeah? You know what? Just for that lower Wow.
- 1:09:09I can't wait for listener feedback. It's gonna be a nightmare, all
- 1:09:13right. All right, So out of the trash can just about to get
- 1:09:15dumped. We've got dude and Max mad Max fair, that's fair, okay,
- 1:09:23all right, just sitting in the pantry. Maybe you'll get around to
- 1:09:26it, maybe you won't. We've got two thousand and one of space out
- 1:09:30of seat, got Alien franchise, got Blade Runner, the Matrix, and
- 1:09:34the Man the Terminator. It seems about right. I H I wish we
- 1:09:42could flip all of C and all of B ooh not except for I don't
- 1:09:49know anything about two thousand one Space out of the although all of C and
- 1:09:55all of B y. Yeah, So let me make this argument. Yeah,
- 1:10:00I'm about to blow your mind. I actually agree with Scott. Okay,
- 1:10:08okay, one of one of my no, no, no, no,
- 1:10:11one of my reasons. We're talking about franchises, right, So at
- 1:10:15this point, Aliens and Predator are one franchise. They have crossed over so
- 1:10:21many times that it's really just one franchise. So I think that's got a
- 1:10:29bump Alien up. So like this, for those of you watching the or
- 1:10:36not watching the video, the se list, so sitting in the pantry,
- 1:10:41we would have Twilight Zone, Doctor Who, Cowboy Bebop in two thousand and
- 1:10:45one A Space I see, yep, I can see that are on the
- 1:10:51B list. We would have the Alien franchise. Is that Blade Runner,
- 1:10:55Blade Runner, Matrix, and Terminator. Okay, I can agree with that.
- 1:11:00I would I would even move twilight Zone up to be yeah, I
- 1:11:06can tell you. So to continue our analogy, the pantry has got Doctor
- 1:11:13who caw wave you up in two thousand and his Space Odyssey. Okay.
- 1:11:18The groceries that you just brought in is Aliens or Alien Blade, Runner,
- 1:11:25the Matrix, the Twilight Zone, and the Terminator. Okay. What you
- 1:11:30got in your hand you're about to cook with. You got firefly, probably
- 1:11:36make it at home, right, you're fast food. You know you're in
- 1:11:41a you're in a hurry, and you're thinking you might might chout out on
- 1:11:44some stuff. Is your st here? You got some uh some Battlestar Galactica
- 1:11:49and Back to the Future. Mm hmm. And when you want some fans
- 1:11:54to live in some Krim de la Krim. Get on your Sunday best.
- 1:11:57We're going to Red Lobster. You got your Star Trek Star Wars. Okay,
- 1:12:03so I think I think since we can only have one in the top
- 1:12:10spot, Yeah, no, we can do whatever we want. It's our
- 1:12:13list. I think Battlestar Galaxica should drop down to A, which is the
- 1:12:23third tier, third tier, and Star Wars should drop down to S it's
- 1:12:29the second tier. So it'll be Star Trek at top on the top,
- 1:12:32and then Star Wars and back to the Future. I like it. Okay,
- 1:12:40can we put Battlestar Galactica to the left the Firefly just just so there
- 1:12:45we go, just because you know, I read left. Wonder I wonder
- 1:12:51if Keeping Up with the Kardascians has an email addressed like, oh God,
- 1:12:57where do we put the Real Housewives? Yeah? I'm okay with this.
- 1:13:05I will I will post it in the group for everyone to see and to
- 1:13:11let them know that this is the definitive list. There is no going back
- 1:13:15on it. Yeah, yep, you think anything else, you're wrong.
- 1:13:18If anybody else agrees with me, it would even look better visually if the
- 1:13:23Expanse went up one level. But you know, I don't know what you're
- 1:13:26talking about. Yeah, this is a list, okay, so wait,
- 1:13:32all right, hold on a minute. So you want the Expanse to go
- 1:13:35up one level, correct? Okay? So that would mean that the bottom
- 1:13:42three are Dune, mad Max, and the Expanse. Just below that is
- 1:13:45Babylon five and Tron, and just below that is far Escape. That's yeact
- 1:13:51Okay. So I've never seen Dune, never seen mad Max, never seen
- 1:13:57the Expanse, only saw two or three episodes of Battle on five. So
- 1:14:01Tron once thirty five years ago, never seen far Escape. I'm fine,
- 1:14:05that's fine. We got okay, and it's a real it's a real Bolkert.
- 1:14:09They kind of like it does look like a bel Yeah, and I
- 1:14:13think that financially happens. So uh So, from from top down now,
- 1:14:17what we've got is in the top tier is Star Trek and tier number two
- 1:14:24is Back in the Future in Star Wars. In tier number three is Battlestar
- 1:14:29glact Cut and Firefly. In tier number four we have the Alien franchise,
- 1:14:33Blade Runner, the Matrix, the Terminator franchise, and the Twilight Zone.
- 1:14:40In tier number five we have Doctor Who, Cowboy Bebop two thousand and one,
- 1:14:43the Space out of Seat. In tier six we have Dune Mad Max
- 1:14:48franchise, the Expanse. In tier number seven six we have so I'm looking
- 1:14:56at this the screen in tier numbers six or seven, it's uh what is
- 1:15:02that? Babylon and Tron and Tron and then the last tear the bottom tiers
- 1:15:12these are like your eyesham again, I'm looking at I'm looking at my cell
- 1:15:16phone and the screen is literally an inch and a half tall by an inch
- 1:15:23and three quarters wide. So yeah, you gotta do what I do and
- 1:15:27do this every everyone. That's what I'm doing. Every once in a while,
- 1:15:30I'm like, what's that. Oh yeah, that's Parscape. Yeah,
- 1:15:35for anyone listening at home who's not watching the video show, I just looked
- 1:15:40like the first appearance of the when they were right up, right up on
- 1:15:43the screen, I know that is warning warning, nerd alert, nerd alert.
- 1:15:53It's fine if you really want to guys, if you really want to
- 1:15:57scare uh h, cast like, look at this the show again. Only
- 1:16:02cast it on one of your HD screens in the living room. Mm hmm.
- 1:16:08It'll frighten you. Oh yeah yeah, and remember this is the list.
- 1:16:13This is how it goes. Yeah yeah, this is the definitive list.
- 1:16:16Yeah. Yeah, So your wife just ye, your wife just chime
- 1:16:21chimed in with a homework assignment. Yeah. I think your homework should be
- 1:16:26to watch the first what can you read that for me because I can barely
- 1:16:29read. Yeah. I think your homework should be to watch the first episode
- 1:16:31of everything you haven't see and then relook at your list. How how you
- 1:16:35would vote if you've never seen it? Oh? So let me. Let
- 1:16:39me explain, Let me explain how this works. Yeah, my wife,
- 1:16:43My wife gives me homework. Your wife gives you homework. There's it doesn't
- 1:16:47the same homework. There's no crossover there. My wife is telling me to
- 1:16:53watch sci fi series. Yeah that's true. Yeah, that's true. My
- 1:17:00wife wants me to clean out, clean out the gutters, I think,
- 1:17:01right, yeah, yeah, okay, okay, I'll go tell my wife.
- 1:17:13Yeah, you know, Scott's wife gave me homework. I gotta watch.
- 1:17:17You're watch Babylon five, so the gutters will have to wait. I'm
- 1:17:21gonna watch the Expanse now, see you later. Yeah, yeah, all
- 1:17:28right, well I will watch. Yeah to my friend Andy, I am
- 1:17:33going to watch the Expanse one of these days. Okay, okay, all
- 1:17:39right, well that is the main topic. Should we get to listener feedback.
- 1:17:43I'm a little scared to get wait. Oh wait, it's it's Expanse.
- 1:17:47Yeah. Oh oh I thought it was expants. Oh yeah, like
- 1:17:54like like your ex girlfriend left a pair of jeans at your house. Okay,
- 1:17:58all right, I'll go watch it now. Oh kay, look at
- 1:18:00a listener feedback. Let's get the listener feedback. Yeah, let's do that
- 1:18:15have a cha is gonna be Oh yeah, he's gonna come on in.
- 1:18:18Uh. In the meantime, I do have an email from a listener from
- 1:18:21John zeb Uh. He emails in from Riverside, California, and he says,
- 1:18:27I've been listening for about the past year or so, really enjoying the
- 1:18:30show. I was wondering for each of you, what is your favorite character
- 1:18:33on this in the Star Trek universe? And why? Boy, that's tough.
- 1:18:41Yeah, I mean, the goofy answer I want to get right away
- 1:18:45is Porthos. But you know that's that's not you know, they all have
- 1:18:55a special and when I say all, they're all different. Answer. They
- 1:18:58have a special place in my heart for what they inspire me to be.
- 1:19:01I I from from uh, you know, a long time ago when I
- 1:19:05started watching Next Generation. Yeah, I always gravitards, gravitated towards Commander Riker.
- 1:19:12And the reason why is because, first and foremost, he's so confident.
- 1:19:18You know, he's he's confident in his duties with the ladies, in
- 1:19:23everything he's got. He's got a strong beard. He you know, when
- 1:19:29he's talking to somebody, when he's given orders, when he's when he's on
- 1:19:31a date, he's just exudes confidence and uh, you know, professionalism,
- 1:19:35and I just you know, I uh, He's one of my favorite characters.
- 1:19:41Okay, okay, Dan Jean Loue Picard, Okay, t N G
- 1:19:51Jean Look Picard. Not so much movie Jean Locard, but TG Picard.
- 1:19:57He is h the perfectly. You know, he respects, he respects his
- 1:20:04people. He's respected by them. You could tell that no one, no
- 1:20:09one questions his orders. I would. I would follow him over cliff if
- 1:20:15he told me to. I trust his ability that much, his his sense
- 1:20:21of right and wrong. So many, so many occasions in TNNG he has
- 1:20:30done the right thing, even when it was easier to do the wrong thing
- 1:20:35right. And I've always respected that about the character. I've always tried to
- 1:20:43make decisions in my life the same way. You know. One of my
- 1:20:48favorite scenes is when he tells Wesley Crusher, who is this kid who has
- 1:20:53idolized him for ten years? At this point, your first duty is to
- 1:20:58the truth. And if you're not strong enough to stand up and tell the
- 1:21:02truth, I will get out and just dismisses him, and and he just
- 1:21:10he tries to talk to him and he says he's a captain and he's like,
- 1:21:13just get out. Yeah. I mean that's such a powerful that's such
- 1:21:15a powerful scene. Yeah. Yeah, yeah, I felt like every little
- 1:21:27decided thing I've ever done of my life. Yeah, yep, yep.
- 1:21:31I watched that episode. Then I went and cleaned my room. There you
- 1:21:34go. I thought about that question in terms of, like, if they
- 1:21:41come on the screen, do I get excited that they're there, if it's
- 1:21:44an episode centered around that person, is that like my more drawn towards those
- 1:21:47episodes? Right? And so for me the answer was worth Oh yeah,
- 1:21:54I just think he's got an interesting art. He's a fun character. He's
- 1:22:00goofy, but he's serious. He's you know, like he's got so much
- 1:22:04going, so much dynamic. He's in a ton of different series. So
- 1:22:09like, if you don't like him in TG, you might like nine,
- 1:22:12you might like him in the Car. Right, He's just all over the
- 1:22:15map. So yeah, I went, I think we have a solid a
- 1:22:18weight team. Some of the some of the comedy, some of the comedy
- 1:22:25that came out of the later appearances of Wharf I love them. Uh.
- 1:22:30I've been watching Pluto lately and they have they have Deep Space nine and heavy
- 1:22:34Rotation, and last night was the episode where they go on vacation to Riza
- 1:22:40work comes along him there. Yeah, yes, yes, when when when
- 1:22:48Quark said what he tells Quark to go sit down three times and Quarks is
- 1:22:53going to setting a course for Deep Space nine? Yes, I was,
- 1:22:58I was. I was warped saying I will turn this car right around.
- 1:23:05Yeah. I love that, And I mean, I've seen that scene a
- 1:23:10thousand times and I'm laying on the couch, I'm laying on the couch last
- 1:23:14night watching it, and I laughed out loud. I chuckled to myself out
- 1:23:17that I knew it was coming. I knew it was coming, and it
- 1:23:19didn't matter. It's still made me chuckle. And it wasn't even it wasn't
- 1:23:25even a great episode. It was a great moment. You know. Somebody,
- 1:23:30somebody put up in the chat that that episode is insufferable, and yeah,
- 1:23:33it's not a great episode. Yeah, but it has some good moments
- 1:23:39and that was that was one of them. Yeah, environmental terrorism isn't exactly
- 1:23:44Yeah, whatever, all right, you guys, ready to face the music.
- 1:23:51Chatz was on the line. He's not happy all right, guys.
- 1:23:56Yeah, I'm gonna I'm gonna reset my connectouldn't because your phone give me the
- 1:24:03best shot jazz. Yeah, that's going on one star writing on iTunes at
- 1:24:09the moment. Yeah, you're mad about doing huh well mad Max too?
- 1:24:15Come on. Yeah, it's like you can't rank stuff if you haven't seen
- 1:24:20it. No, that's part of the ranking. I haven't been drunk to
- 1:24:25it. What and Babylon five come on guys, Yeah, yeah, what
- 1:24:32did I miss? They got chess? Is that what I missed? Yeah?
- 1:24:41He loves the cool fair list. Okay, why up there? Star
- 1:24:50Wars. I'd see why Star Wars got downgraded because some of the TV shows
- 1:24:56and other stuff the Disney movies have kind of heart star Wars. Okay.
- 1:25:00Back to the Future is good. Battlestar galact because you know, I think
- 1:25:04the original series of Battlestar Galactic kind of hurts it because it's so eighties.
- 1:25:11But if you put the new one it'd probably be triple S tear. Yeah,
- 1:25:15and then Firefly it's it's a great show. Aliens the movies hurt,
- 1:25:21you know, the first two are great, and then after that Aliens yeah
- 1:25:26kind of falls off. I mean you can agree that Cowboy Bwop is better
- 1:25:30than Mad Max. No, have you seen have you seen Fury Road?
- 1:25:36Yeah? I didn't have a jazz soundtrack, Dude, Fury Road like comy
- 1:25:42Oscars? I don't know, not, not nearly. It didn't have a
- 1:25:46corky how many oscars? It'd start two? Yeah? Zero? And Star
- 1:25:53Wars? All right, all right, there you go, There you go.
- 1:25:57Your argument is void? Meant is what? Okay, chance I was
- 1:26:01writing something down. Did you mention did we mentioned Firefly? Yeah? Okay,
- 1:26:08what were your thoughts on Firefly? Did you did you watch it?
- 1:26:12I watched Firefly? Yeah, I watched the whole series in the movie I
- 1:26:16did, Like Daniel, I saw the movie first and then I watched the
- 1:26:19series. Oh no, ye, because I had no idea it was a
- 1:26:23TV series because I was like, there's a new sci fi maybe, let's
- 1:26:26go see it. And then watching the maybe and really liked it and actually
- 1:26:30helped out because it's like made me more excited for the show because I bought
- 1:26:34it on DVD back then. Oh nice. So yeah, I'm gonna mention
- 1:26:39Firefly when we do a brand new segment called Recommendations that I just told Dan
- 1:26:43Daniel that I want to do. Yeah, yeah, I watched Firefly.
- 1:26:46If you haven't seen Firefly Matrix, you know the first Matrix movie that that's
- 1:26:53a perfect movie. It's the first Matrix movie. Yes, then after that
- 1:26:57it just goes off the walls, Terminator, same thing. First tier amazing,
- 1:27:01and then it kind of falls apart. Twilight Zone first series is great,
- 1:27:06and then they made other series that weren't the greatest. So Doctor Who,
- 1:27:14I think the list is fair. I see Doctor Who at C I
- 1:27:18don't know Doctor Who could be be because the reboot of Doctor Who was so
- 1:27:21good. Yeah, cowboy be how many boots every time there's a new doctor
- 1:27:29it's a reboot? Yeah? Do they acknowledge the old doctor in the reboot?
- 1:27:33Yes, it's a complete turnover. Yeah, he's like he's an alien.
- 1:27:39He was supposed to have like so many lives, but he keeps on
- 1:27:42adding. So yeah, my knowledge of the of Doctor Who, like,
- 1:27:45you know, it's pop culture stuff. So I know what tartist is.
- 1:27:47I we I posted something in the group about what what kind of piece of
- 1:27:51equipment would you rather? Would you rather have? Like if you could pick
- 1:27:55one the transporter lightsabers, I believe there was a there was the tool that
- 1:28:01the doctor has. I don't know what the driver. Yeah, one more
- 1:28:05time. And the joke about the screwdriver is it's a sonic screwdriver, but
- 1:28:10it doesn't work on wood. Yeah, even though screwdriver okay doesn't want to
- 1:28:15work on wood. Yeah, it's a device. It fixes everything. Whatever
- 1:28:20they did, it fixed. That is that it's is that its weakness that
- 1:28:26that's just the kind of joke about it. Yeah, there's there's a few,
- 1:28:30like inside jokes. There's like that one. Uh, there's he definitively
- 1:28:33does not want to become a redhead. He's like constantly whenever he turns into
- 1:28:38a new doctor, he's like, oh thank god, I'm still not a
- 1:28:41ginger. Yeah wow yeah, and was it thirteen fourteen doctors right now?
- 1:28:47Something like that. It's all like the war doctors and then who know,
- 1:28:51like they're throw doctors. Well then they the timeless children ruin that show because
- 1:28:58they The closest thing I would equate it to that you might understand is the
- 1:29:01control. We're like, they do remember past things about themselves, but each
- 1:29:05time it's a new character. Okay, he dies, but he regenerates,
- 1:29:11but he So you could jump in at the beginning of each new Doctor or
- 1:29:15any other doctor it's sort of okay, Yeah, but I recommend jumping in
- 1:29:18around like the two thousand and four series and start from there. Yeah.
- 1:29:25The new ones like on Disney right now is a great launching point. That
- 1:29:29okay, but the other ones are better, Like I'd recommend the mid two
- 1:29:31thousands because if he's just trying to figure out what he's if he's going to
- 1:29:35like it or not. I think these are good starts. Yeah, okay,
- 1:29:39because they're like one, they're one shot comic books. You don't need
- 1:29:43to watch anything else. You can just enjoy them. If you like it,
- 1:29:45great, you can go back. But yeah, and Cowboy Bebop just
- 1:29:51the whole series is perfect. So yeah's great. I definitely rank that up
- 1:29:56there higher. Yeah, and what else do you have? You just oh,
- 1:30:02we had like Tron and well Tron, Yeah, Tron's just had two
- 1:30:08movies, uh and a cartoon and a cartoon. Yeah in two thousand and
- 1:30:14one of Space Odyssey. That one's it's a great movie. It's, you
- 1:30:17know, really awesome movie, but it's way out there. Yeah, like
- 1:30:23for some people, see it'd be hard to watch is that the one with
- 1:30:26the AI is that good morning? Well yeah, okay, and it's he
- 1:30:32has to deal with fighting that. But there's this weird This list is missing
- 1:30:38a lot of things, right, It's missing like Planet of the Apes.
- 1:30:42Oh holy cow? Yeah, uh X Files and other stuff like that,
- 1:30:48Like this is just what was on there, you know. But but and
- 1:30:53I thought I saw X Files when down in there. There seems like I
- 1:30:57saw a bunch of franchises that did we move? Oh? Yeah, there
- 1:31:01it is. Yeah, there is X Files. Okay, well we can
- 1:31:04rink it, we can put it on there. We can make more people
- 1:31:10out there an x Oh what were you thinking? Maybe see Tier the X
- 1:31:18Files? Uh yeah, yeah, I watched it a little bit when I
- 1:31:26was in high school. But yeah, in the movies, I saw the
- 1:31:30movie. Yeah, I saw the first movie. Yeah, okay, okay.
- 1:31:35In fact, I remember at the time when I saw it, the
- 1:31:39first X Files movie, I thought to myself, oh I'm an X File
- 1:31:43fan now. Yeah, but it never went anywhere, right, yeah,
- 1:31:46see tears. Fine, then there we go. So where would you where
- 1:31:50would you put Planet of the Apes? Where would I put it? Yeah?
- 1:31:56Oh? Man, I like the reboot movies. I like the first
- 1:32:00original one, then again it down from there. Yeah, probably see here
- 1:32:04the original reboot. Yeah, a lot of people forget. Do you remember
- 1:32:09the one with Mark Wahlberg from I think, oh that's right? Yeah,
- 1:32:13yeah, yeah, yeah, you know what's there was nothing wrong with that
- 1:32:16one. There's nothing wrong with that one except that they ended in a cliffhanger
- 1:32:19and right, and they never revisited. Yeah. I think they just spent
- 1:32:24too much money making it. Yeah, that's why it wasn't a good investment.
- 1:32:30I'd go be your seat here somewhere there point in the apes. Because
- 1:32:33the TV shows didn't help it. Oh that's right, Yeah, because they
- 1:32:38had a TV show in the seventies and then they had like, yeah,
- 1:32:42but the TV show from the seventies. They recut those into movies, yeah,
- 1:32:49and re aired them for years and years and years in the years.
- 1:32:53Remember back in the day before HBO and all that. Yeah, Saturday Afternoon
- 1:32:59was hey, what movie us on? Yeah? You tuned in to see
- 1:33:01what movie? And they showed Planet of the Apes movies, like, yeah,
- 1:33:05I watched all this. It was Planet of the Apes and Kung Fu
- 1:33:09movies are gonna in a couple of weeks. I'm gonna go see the classic
- 1:33:14original first movie in the theaters? Really cool. Yeah, A buddy of
- 1:33:17mine is renting out a movie theater for his fortieth day. Yeah, so
- 1:33:23we're gonna go watch it. Yeah, that's cool. How much does the
- 1:33:27cost run out a whole theater? I don't know. I didn't ask him.
- 1:33:30I know he's asking everyone to like pitch in ten bucks, so okay.
- 1:33:33Yeah, now now you've got to see him do that for Dune,
- 1:33:36so maybe I don't know. Are you gonna see Dune too this week?
- 1:33:46Yeah? Yeah, I'm gonna see it. Okay. Are you gonna get
- 1:33:49the pop I probably won't see the theater not no popcorn bucket, only for
- 1:33:56the popcorn bucket. I'm not gonna watch it's gonna get I was in the
- 1:33:59mall and I saw AMC almost bought a popcorn bucket. Yeah, you know,
- 1:34:03I probably would have killed me, Like, why'd you spend twenty four
- 1:34:05dollars on popcorn bucket? With popcorn or with no popcorn? So if Mike
- 1:34:11Medina is listening, that's that's one of the that's one of the things I'm
- 1:34:14gonna buy. Yeah. So the more toylist the more, uh, the
- 1:34:18more I look at this list, and the more we talk, you start
- 1:34:21thinking of things that aren't on this list. Yeah. Now, now we're
- 1:34:27often yeah, but that's I don't know how much of a march you turned
- 1:34:30forty six today or forty seven is? You know you would have that little
- 1:34:33thing on your hand that you got to run right now? Oh yeah,
- 1:34:36yeah, right now I'm running, trust me, I'm running. Yeah.
- 1:34:40But you know, actually, because we're all past thirty, so we would
- 1:34:44all be dead by now. We've been running for years. So I know
- 1:34:46what franchise am thinking of? What's that? Go ahead? Ghostbusters? Yes,
- 1:34:51and I agree that should be on this list. It should be near
- 1:34:55the clup. Ghostbusters is often lumped in not so much with horror movie but
- 1:35:00but as a ghost story. But but it's science fiction. They are using
- 1:35:08science to capture ghosts. These are three scientists. Where would you do this?
- 1:35:15Ghostbusters at on this list? Just because the gotta go hand and I
- 1:35:23mean it's almost got to go hand in hand with Back in the Future.
- 1:35:27I don't know, it kind of goes down because the solid solid third tier
- 1:35:32Battlestar, Galact, Good Firefly, I say, big tear for ghost Fusters,
- 1:35:36perfect, second, one, third ones like that lady, Ghostbusters was
- 1:35:46awful. Now, the cartoon was awesome, So I was going to say,
- 1:35:50so that cartoon ran. That cartoon ran for years and years and years.
- 1:35:56And one of the things that they're saying is this new movie that's coming
- 1:35:59out next month, the cartoon, it's gonna it's gonna be closer to the
- 1:36:03spirit of the cartoon. And the same guy that made the cartoon made Babylon
- 1:36:09five that you guys ranked at eat here here, that's right, because it's
- 1:36:13trap And that's what I'm saying, Like, no, no, no,
- 1:36:16yeah, but Rodenberry made in dramata, so yeah, no final conflce,
- 1:36:23final conflict. You guys ought to do like a Babylon five podcast, just
- 1:36:27like no, no, you don't watch my you don't listen to my Babylon
- 1:36:31five podcasts. I mean you guys all know about it, right, right,
- 1:36:39right? Okay, A Wolves talking about the popcorn buckets for Ghostbusters.
- 1:36:45The slimmer one looks cool. There's there's there's two of them, right,
- 1:36:49one of them is a trap. Yeah. I will probably pass on the
- 1:36:56buckets only because, uh, how Bro just did a crowdfunding has lab crowdfunding
- 1:37:03for or it's they called the two in the box combo and it's it's the
- 1:37:10same line as the the Proton pack that I bought last year, but it's
- 1:37:15it's a combination. You get a screen accurate trap with a holster and a
- 1:37:21p K meter with a wholester. So it's probably not going to arrive until
- 1:37:28the fall. I don't know if it's going to be in time for Halloween
- 1:37:30or if it's going to come out in November, like right after Halloween,
- 1:37:34but I will probably pass on the popcorn bucket shaped like a theater five years
- 1:37:45ago. You have to hold on, hold on, here's here's the thing.
- 1:37:54Going to the movies is the thing that I do with my son,
- 1:37:58and my son is a len and I think we're getting to the point where
- 1:38:02that's not cool for him anymore. And it and it makes it makes Yeah,
- 1:38:11it makes my heart hurt. It makes my heart hurt a little bit.
- 1:38:15But if I have to choose between what's more important to me wearing wearing
- 1:38:20this thing and having a good time or building these memories with my son,
- 1:38:26it's it's my son every time. So I have the rest of my life
- 1:38:30to wear that suit. Every Halloween until the day I'm in the ground.
- 1:38:34Yeah, when you see it the second time? Yeah? You second?
- 1:38:44I said, where would you see it the second time? Yeah? Yeah,
- 1:38:49maybe we'll see. Maybe we'll see. I don't know. Depending on
- 1:38:55how good it is, he'll want to come with me the second time.
- 1:38:57Yeah. Okay, well then were one. If the movie is good,
- 1:39:04Well, that's the thing I'm making him is not It's not cool. It's
- 1:39:12not cool anything. Make it a twelve year old or an eleven year old
- 1:39:15wear something in the movie theater. Yeah, social media just to embarrass so
- 1:39:19oh yeah, my twelve year old love that. Yeah, we wanted to
- 1:39:27talk to me nothing, Just just say dude this week. That's that's willing
- 1:39:31suggestion. Hopefully it will go up higher than a d We're trying to We're
- 1:39:39trying to end the podcast so I can go inside and watch June. Stop
- 1:39:43stop talking. Were going an hour and yeah, yeah, I know,
- 1:39:49thanks, thanks chasmiss It was appreciate you stopping by. Yeah. Anything else
- 1:39:55you guys going to bring up before we go? Uh no? If we
- 1:39:58do another rewatch of Star Trek, I have a suggestion, Okay, I
- 1:40:03would like to cover the Star Trek Voyager episode time with Okay, this isn't
- 1:40:13wrong though, Like maybe maybe covering Dune for the next episode wouldn't be a
- 1:40:16bad idea. Okay, it's gonna be a big deal. I know you
- 1:40:20can't be here next week. I won't be here next week. I have
- 1:40:24a Patriot gard mission that I'm going to. Yeah, that's yes, Dan,
- 1:40:28would you be able to watch Dune in time? Be in the theaters
- 1:40:33if it's just you and me? Yeah, Dune too, yeah the second
- 1:40:44Yeah, maybe you got you're cutting out really bad. You guys aren't moving.
- 1:40:48Oh, we'll talk about it offline. We'll figure it offline. Okay,
- 1:40:55all right, okay, yeah, well, thanks everybody for listening.
- 1:40:58We'll see you guys. Give out the phone number. Oh yeah, yeah,
- 1:41:02phone number and all that stuff. Yeah, let me get there.
