- 0:00Speaker 1: Steve, what have you been doing?
- 0:01Speaker 2: Man?
- 0:01Speaker 1: You go disappear until training camp and then I and people.
- 0:04Speaker 3: Like me coming and unearthed you and out of your
- 0:07Speaker 3: break or what even do?
- 0:08Speaker 2: Absolutely if if you if you watch the Insiders on
- 0:11Speaker 2: NFL Network, you will see me on inside and we're
- 0:13Speaker 2: talking schedule, We're talking you know, draft, all that good stuff. Yeah. No,
- 0:17Speaker 2: we're still busy, man, We're still busy doing a little transitioning.
- 0:21Speaker 1: Yes, but how does that affect you? The ESPN purchasing
- 0:24Speaker 1: the NFL network.
- 0:27Speaker 2: Uh, we'll see. You know, I'm you know, I'm still employed.
- 0:30Speaker 2: They they brought me over, but there's just a lot
- 0:34Speaker 2: of uh, a lot of wait and see. You know,
- 0:38Speaker 2: ESPN has has done the NFL for a long time,
- 0:42Speaker 2: very very well, and now they're taking on a lot
- 0:45Speaker 2: of new people. So they just kind of figure that out.
- 0:47Speaker 2: We're gonna be from from all indications run like you
- 0:51Speaker 2: know how there's the SEC network and ESPN where they
- 0:54Speaker 2: do a lot of SEC coverage, So they're still gonna
- 0:57Speaker 2: be the NFL network. We'll see if there's any crossover
- 1:01Speaker 2: with ESPN if you know, But but we're still going
- 1:03Speaker 2: to be a kind of a separate not fully independent
- 1:07Speaker 2: entity but run by ESPN, no longer run by the NFL.
- 1:11Speaker 3: Does that mean most of you will still remain based
- 1:12Speaker 3: in Los Angeles right outside so far there in Inglewood.
- 1:16Speaker 2: Well, the majority, yeah, I mean they're gonna you know,
- 1:18Speaker 2: I'm based in LA will still be there. A lot
- 1:20Speaker 2: of our production team, newsroom team and all that will
- 1:23Speaker 2: still be in Los Angeles, But the majority of our
- 1:24Speaker 2: on air talent is spread out across the country, So
- 1:29Speaker 2: you know that that's going to continue to remain the same,
- 1:32Speaker 2: unless you know, directives are are given otherwise. Right now,
- 1:35Speaker 2: we're still just kind of waiting to see, but everything
- 1:37Speaker 2: I will see that. Everything has been incredibly encouraging. The
- 1:40Speaker 2: communication has been very very strong and encouraging, and it
- 1:45Speaker 2: really looks like it's a tandem. You know, the full
- 1:48Speaker 2: court press is on to dominate NFL coverage and kind
- 1:53Speaker 2: of make the ESPN family the NFL network properties the
- 1:56Speaker 2: go to place.
- 1:57Speaker 3: Well, if we wish you all the best in that,
- 1:58Speaker 3: you deserve the highest and you can get, so good
- 2:02Speaker 3: luck to you on all of that.
- 2:03Speaker 2: Excited Yeah, excited for that.
- 2:05Speaker 1: I bet it is all right.
- 2:07Speaker 3: First of all, let me ask you what in the
- 2:09Speaker 3: hades is going on in Pittsburgh that they have to
- 2:11Speaker 3: wait on Aaron Rodgers again. And are you just thinking
- 2:14Speaker 3: this is just Aaron Rodgers being Aaron Rodgers or is
- 2:16Speaker 3: there actually a possibility to Steelers will free Will Howard
- 2:20Speaker 3: and give him a chance at quarterback or something.
- 2:22Speaker 1: What's going on in Pittsburgh? Do you think?
- 2:23Speaker 2: Well? I mean, I think I think everything you just
- 2:25Speaker 2: said is true. And look, there's nobody. If there's any
- 2:30Speaker 2: blame of anything, it's on the Steelers. I mean, they
- 2:33Speaker 2: decided to go this route and not go after some
- 2:35Speaker 2: of these other quarterback. They could add Kyler Murray, right,
- 2:38Speaker 2: they could have had some of these other players, but
- 2:40Speaker 2: they basically said, Okay, look we're good. We're comfortable with Aaron.
- 2:43Speaker 2: Mike McCarthy's coach, Aaron, we made this coaching change. Let's
- 2:46Speaker 2: go ahead and wait for him. So now he's kind
- 2:48Speaker 2: of like, Okay, well, if you're waiting for me, I
- 2:50Speaker 2: know who's got the leverage here. You didn't draft a quarterback,
- 2:52Speaker 2: so I'll take my time and do what I'm i'm
- 2:55Speaker 2: gonna do. And if at some point one side gets
- 2:59Speaker 2: frustrated with the other, which there's no indication that that's
- 3:02Speaker 2: going to happen. They'll have to move on to Will
- 3:04Speaker 2: Howard or whomever else, you know, Drew Aller, you know,
- 3:07Speaker 2: if that's what they want to do, or maybe make
- 3:09Speaker 2: a play for one of these other veteran quarterbacks and
- 3:12Speaker 2: another team. But you know, the Steelers decided this is
- 3:14Speaker 2: what they're going to take. They've been through it before,
- 3:17Speaker 2: not with the coaching staff, but you know, look, it's
- 3:20Speaker 2: it's it's the bed they jumped into and made.
- 3:23Speaker 3: Sure did Do you think they hired Mike McCarthy on
- 3:26Speaker 3: the assumption or the hope that Aaron Marthyrs would come back?
- 3:31Speaker 2: No, too short, now, I don't Yeah, yeah, I mean
- 3:35Speaker 2: Aaron's probably this is you know, easy year to year.
- 3:37Speaker 2: I think they're hoping, based on the Steelers that Mike
- 3:40Speaker 2: McCarthy is there for you know, ten years whatever, that's
- 3:44Speaker 2: wherever it is. That's just how they do.
- 3:45Speaker 1: That's the curious thing, right, Steve.
- 3:46Speaker 3: I mean I've said this, man, I've grew up outside
- 3:49Speaker 3: Pittsburgh and I've said this so many times. I'm fifty
- 3:51Speaker 3: five years old and the Steelers. Steelers have had three
- 3:53Speaker 3: coaches in fifty five years, and you wouldn't you wouldn't
- 3:55Speaker 3: think Mike McCarthy would be in that mold of being
- 3:57Speaker 3: a twenty year guy.
- 3:59Speaker 1: Is that what you think the Steelers plan is?
- 4:03Speaker 2: Well, if you know, look what we could say we
- 4:05Speaker 2: want about Mike McCarthy. The guys won, right, He's been
- 4:08Speaker 2: a very successful head coach, and I've got a lot
- 4:11Speaker 2: of respect for Mike McCarthy, the staffs he put together.
- 4:13Speaker 2: If he can coach there for ten years, sure they'll
- 4:16Speaker 2: take that. I mean because the owner who knows that
- 4:18Speaker 2: the ownership will continue a certain way, you know, So
- 4:22Speaker 2: there's a there's a lot of you know, variables that
- 4:25Speaker 2: could happen. You can't say, hey, we're going to hire
- 4:27Speaker 2: this coach and he's gonna last ten years. Maybe it
- 4:29Speaker 2: doesn't work out. Maybe this whole thing blows up. You know,
- 4:32Speaker 2: Aaron Rodgers doesn't play well. If he comes back and
- 4:35Speaker 2: JJ McCarthy and all the guys that they gave money
- 4:38Speaker 2: to on defense fizzle out and they blow the whole thing,
- 4:40Speaker 2: I mean, they could do that. So a lot of
- 4:43Speaker 2: variables here. But I think the plan is for Mike
- 4:45Speaker 2: McCarthy to be there as long as as possible, because
- 4:48Speaker 2: you know, the guy's won everywhere he's gone Pittsburgh native.
- 4:51Speaker 1: He's sixty two years old.
- 4:52Speaker 3: By the way, this is ste Why NFL Network talking
- 4:55Speaker 3: to us live on the Beigon Pumbing Hotline on ninety
- 4:56Speaker 3: three point three KJERFM with.
- 4:58Speaker 4: The NFL schedule coming now, Greg and I had waged
- 5:01Speaker 4: a lot of money that the six played the Bears.
- 5:04Speaker 1: Boy were we wrong? What went into that decision?
- 5:06Speaker 4: You think to have the Patriots and Seahawks on a rematch,
- 5:09Speaker 4: not to mention everything going on with Rabel And do
- 5:13Speaker 4: you think part two of this? Do you think the
- 5:15Speaker 4: smoke will clear by week one? Maybe they get AJ
- 5:18Speaker 4: Brown for the Patriots.
- 5:22Speaker 2: Well, I have not heard the official you know, I
- 5:24Speaker 2: have not seen the official schedule. Lease that's going to happen.
- 5:26Speaker 2: I know there's some reports out there that that does happen.
- 5:29Speaker 2: But look, I mean this is a you know, if
- 5:32Speaker 2: that's if that's the game, I mean, look, every game's
- 5:35Speaker 2: going to draw eyeballs, but that'll be a huge, huge game,
- 5:38Speaker 2: especially if AJ Brown gets traded, you know, and you know,
- 5:43Speaker 2: Patriots say, hey, well will Campbell's you know, healthy, Let's
- 5:46Speaker 2: see if Seattle can get to our quarterback like it
- 5:48Speaker 2: did in the Super Bowl. Like I think that's a
- 5:51Speaker 2: huge draw, and Seahawks fans should should want something like
- 5:54Speaker 2: that because you know, the Patriots fan base, the national
- 5:57Speaker 2: fan base is significant, Seattle's fan base is significant. I mean,
- 6:01Speaker 2: a nice clash of the Titans, and let's get it
- 6:06Speaker 2: out of the gate, like you said, especially if A. J.
- 6:08Speaker 2: Brown is back, because I think a lot of folks
- 6:10Speaker 2: feel that Seattle is the team to beat in the NFC.
- 6:14Speaker 2: They've got a brutal schedule based on you know, the
- 6:17Speaker 2: caliber of opponent's coming up. But let's kick it off
- 6:20Speaker 2: with the Super Bowl rematch. I would love to see
- 6:22Speaker 2: that game.
- 6:23Speaker 1: Steve.
- 6:23Speaker 3: The talk of the off season, of course, the Mike
- 6:25Speaker 3: Rabel din Orsini situation. Do you anticipate any sanks, anything
- 6:30Speaker 3: at all to come of Mike Rabel and what his
- 6:33Speaker 3: job is in New England? Knowing that we don't know
- 6:35Speaker 3: exactly what all might come out still we haven't heard
- 6:38Speaker 3: from Diana side it consuming Yeah, I.
- 6:41Speaker 2: Mean, well to me, I mean, the only thing that
- 6:45Speaker 2: could really come out of it would would hinge on
- 6:47Speaker 2: Mike Rabel. I mean, if this is something he wants
- 6:49Speaker 2: to continue to deal with publicly, because it clearly has legs.
- 6:52Speaker 2: It's it's not it hasn't gone away. So if it's
- 6:56Speaker 2: something he feels he can, he can face down and
- 6:58Speaker 2: stare down and it doesn't impact his coaching and his
- 7:02Speaker 2: ability to relate to players and his coaching staff. I
- 7:05Speaker 2: don't think anything will change. But if there's something going
- 7:07Speaker 2: on personal with him where he's just like, look I
- 7:09Speaker 2: need to stand down, he'll stand down. I don't think
- 7:12Speaker 2: ownership or anybody is going to say, hey, look, this
- 7:14Speaker 2: is too much of a distraction. I mean, come on,
- 7:16Speaker 2: it's the Patriots. They live in the world of distraction, right,
- 7:19Speaker 2: and so yeah, I don't think again, if anything comes
- 7:25Speaker 2: of this, I think it would be a personal decision
- 7:27Speaker 2: for Mike Rabel and nothing from the league or the
- 7:30Speaker 2: club itself.
- 7:31Speaker 3: Back here Close to Home Steve Steve White's NFL Network
- 7:34Speaker 3: joining us on the Beacon Plumbing Hotline here on ninety
- 7:36Speaker 3: three point three KJRFAM. If you had to give a
- 7:39Speaker 3: reason or two or ten why the Seahawks are going
- 7:42Speaker 3: to repeat a Super Bowl champions, what would it or
- 7:44Speaker 3: they be? And if you had to give a reason
- 7:46Speaker 3: why they won't, what do you think is going to
- 7:48Speaker 3: happen to keep him from doing it again?
- 7:50Speaker 2: Well, in order to repete. I mean, look, this is
- 7:52Speaker 2: a young football team, right, and they've got a taste
- 7:56Speaker 2: of it.
- 7:56Speaker 5: Right.
- 7:56Speaker 2: You talk to players and coaches who get taste of
- 8:00Speaker 2: it early in their careers and they're like, man, you know,
- 8:02Speaker 2: we we we've got to have it. There is a
- 8:05Speaker 2: different type of hunger than the team where guys have
- 8:08Speaker 2: been on there for six or seven years and they
- 8:10Speaker 2: finally get it and they're like, oh man, you know,
- 8:12Speaker 2: we've we've we've reached the mountaintop, you know, when you
- 8:14Speaker 2: when you went out of the gate like so many
- 8:16Speaker 2: of these guys, you know, Nick even Worries and guys
- 8:18Speaker 2: like this or even Sam Darnold on the Redemption Tour,
- 8:20Speaker 2: who's still very young. Hey man, you're you're gonna you're
- 8:23Speaker 2: gonna put into it. And they didn't change the roster
- 8:26Speaker 2: that much, but they changed in some key spots. But
- 8:28Speaker 2: again it's very young. It's a talented roster, that's another reason.
- 8:33Speaker 2: And they've only added pieces to it, you know, a
- 8:35Speaker 2: nice young running back, you know, added you know, added
- 8:38Speaker 2: some some nice young players on defense. The reason why
- 8:41Speaker 2: they won't it's hard, right, we consider to talk about
- 8:46Speaker 2: the hunter being the hunted. It's hard every you're gonna
- 8:48Speaker 2: get every team's best shot. It does not It's a cliche,
- 8:51Speaker 2: but it is true. Every team is coming for you.
- 8:54Speaker 2: Their schedule is brutal, right, their division is tough, so
- 8:58Speaker 2: their non conference opponents like the Chiefs are going to
- 9:00Speaker 2: be back. The Chargers should be good, the bear should
- 9:02Speaker 2: be good. Teams like New England should be good. You
- 9:05Speaker 2: know they played Denver, like Philly, these are these are
- 9:07Speaker 2: tough teams. So you know, there's that, and there's always
- 9:10Speaker 2: you know, injuries. Injuries are probably the number one reason
- 9:12Speaker 2: why you know repeat our champions can't repeat because they
- 9:15Speaker 2: just get derailed. And usually the team that's the championship
- 9:18Speaker 2: team is the healthiest team every year.
- 9:20Speaker 1: You're right about that.
- 9:21Speaker 3: It does take Look the Seahawks, by the way, tied
- 9:23Speaker 3: for the most games against last year's playoff teams ten, yeah,
- 9:28Speaker 3: ten of the seventeen.
- 9:30Speaker 4: Chris Steve, We've seen offense defense evolved constantly over the
- 9:35Speaker 4: last few seasons. I mean, look at Mike McDonald. What
- 9:37Speaker 4: he's done with the defense has been very incredible. Where
- 9:40Speaker 4: do you think the major shift is for the NFL
- 9:44Speaker 4: coming from moving forward?
- 9:47Speaker 2: Well, based on how a lot of teams drafted and
- 9:50Speaker 2: how they moved in free agency. It looks like more
- 9:54Speaker 2: and more teams are kind of following what the Rams
- 9:57Speaker 2: did last year, and that's going with the two and
- 9:59Speaker 2: three tight end sets. I mean, look at how many
- 10:02Speaker 2: teams now have stacked tight end, like not just I
- 10:05Speaker 2: mean it's the Chargers. They've already got two really good
- 10:08Speaker 2: tight ends and they go into Saint David Njoku, right.
- 10:11Speaker 2: So you're seeing to me, more and more teams add
- 10:15Speaker 2: a blocking tight end and then another kind of combo
- 10:18Speaker 2: tight end to go with the receiving tight end. So
- 10:20Speaker 2: I think that's part of it, and part of that's
- 10:22Speaker 2: to combat what Seattle did last year. You had Nicki
- 10:25Speaker 2: min Worri and Devin Weatherspoon. These are two hybrid defensive back,
- 10:31Speaker 2: not just one. A lot of teams not not a
- 10:32Speaker 2: lot of teams, but some teams have that one Derwin
- 10:35Speaker 2: James type Kyle Hamilton tight Shalahead two. And then you
- 10:39Speaker 2: look at the draft and everyone's trying to get a
- 10:43Speaker 2: combo type player. You know, Washington get Sunny Style is
- 10:45Speaker 2: a former safety who's a linebacker you can put on
- 10:47Speaker 2: the edge. So I think that's kind of the guessing
- 10:50Speaker 2: game Okay, you're gonna get these defenders now where we
- 10:53Speaker 2: don't have to. We don't get a tell because they're
- 10:55Speaker 2: not switching to a sub package. You know, they're not
- 10:58Speaker 2: bringing in a nickelback because he's already on the field. Okay, well,
- 11:01Speaker 2: let's go with three tight ends. We use one of
- 11:03Speaker 2: them as an h back on one play, one of
- 11:05Speaker 2: them as a wide receiver on one play. Oh, let's
- 11:07Speaker 2: just line all three of them up tight and see
- 11:09Speaker 2: if they can stop us. So I think that's kind
- 11:12Speaker 2: of the chess match that's being played based on how
- 11:14Speaker 2: teams adjusted their personnel this offseason.
- 11:16Speaker 4: You mentioned the tight ends, and something just popped in
- 11:18Speaker 4: my head regarding the toush push because the Eagles they
- 11:21Speaker 4: did with Jalen Hurts and it works. He hasn't been
- 11:25Speaker 4: hurt yet doing it, so give them a check. But
- 11:28Speaker 4: the Seahawks have done it their own unique way they
- 11:30Speaker 4: bring in the tight end. Do you think teams are
- 11:32Speaker 4: going to realize, you know what, we don't have to
- 11:34Speaker 4: put our quarterback in that situation. We can grab a
- 11:36Speaker 4: three hundre pound lineman. We can do a tight end.
- 11:38Speaker 4: Our teams don't get creative and the tush push is
- 11:41Speaker 4: going to continue on you.
- 11:42Speaker 2: Think, yeah, tipush is not going anywhere. I mean, you
- 11:45Speaker 2: saw this league's at this year's league meetings. There was
- 11:48Speaker 2: no opposition to it.
- 11:49Speaker 1: There was no you know, rule change.
- 11:52Speaker 2: Suggestion to eliminate it. So that's going to continue. Teams
- 11:56Speaker 2: will look, they put running backs back there tight ends.
- 12:00Speaker 2: You know who's who's the pusher for the Eagles, It's
- 12:02Speaker 2: Dallas Goddard their tight end, right, So there's different ways
- 12:07Speaker 2: that teams will continue to do it, but it's until
- 12:10Speaker 2: guys can can stop it. Like some teams don't do
- 12:12Speaker 2: it well, Like you have to have a team that
- 12:15Speaker 2: practice is that and that's not easy to practice during
- 12:17Speaker 2: the week when there's not a lot of contact. And
- 12:21Speaker 2: there's other teams that do it great. And I love
- 12:23Speaker 2: the way that Seattle kind of put it. It's been
- 12:25Speaker 2: on it. So every team is always looking for the
- 12:28Speaker 2: advantage and it all a lot of it depends on
- 12:30Speaker 2: your coaching and your team personnel to gain that advantage.
- 12:33Speaker 3: Steve Wis's friend of the showjoining us here on ninety
- 12:35Speaker 3: three point three kids r of them.
- 12:36Speaker 1: Steve, who's surprised you and made the most.
- 12:38Speaker 3: Maybe not surprised, but you think has gained the most
- 12:41Speaker 3: this offseason through the draft, through signings, trades. Who who's
- 12:45Speaker 3: made up the most ground to challenge?
- 12:48Speaker 2: Oh wow, that's made it the most ground. It's interesting
- 12:52Speaker 2: because you know, you see teams like the Jets and
- 12:54Speaker 2: the Giants who had and the Raiders who had a
- 12:56Speaker 2: lot of money, they got a lot of growing to do.
- 12:59Speaker 2: Who I did a lot of players, and then you
- 13:04Speaker 2: see some teams like Houston, which is already good, that
- 13:07Speaker 2: didn't maybe make a big splash that added So it's hard.
- 13:10Speaker 2: It's hard for me to say because you know, when
- 13:14Speaker 2: I when I look at what some of these teams did, like, Okay,
- 13:18Speaker 2: it looks good on paper, but these teams look good
- 13:20Speaker 2: on paper every year, like the Chargers. The Chargers look
- 13:23Speaker 2: good on paper every year, but injuries tend to derail
- 13:25Speaker 2: them every season. You know, the one thing I'll say
- 13:29Speaker 2: about the Raiders is it looks like they finally have
- 13:31Speaker 2: a plan, Like, okay, we're drafting this quarterback number one,
- 13:34Speaker 2: so we got get too free agent linemen, we draft
- 13:37Speaker 2: some some depth. We've got a good young running back there,
- 13:41Speaker 2: and then they loaded up with free agents on defense,
- 13:43Speaker 2: like okay, let's keep the score closed in a division
- 13:47Speaker 2: where we might be able to give ourselves a chance
- 13:50Speaker 2: and buy field goals and things like that. So it's
- 13:54Speaker 2: it's really hard. Okay, there was a winner, or hey,
- 13:57Speaker 2: the Rams lost because they drafted Tys Simpson and blah
- 14:00Speaker 2: blah blah. When there's just so many variables once once
- 14:04Speaker 2: team's getting pads and knowing how good coaches are and
- 14:08Speaker 2: certain coaches are and how not good other coaches are,
- 14:13Speaker 2: to really say like, Okay, this team looks like it's
- 14:15Speaker 2: going to be a lot better right now.
- 14:16Speaker 3: What do you make of what the forty nine ers
- 14:18Speaker 3: have done? And they are re upping with Trent Williams,
- 14:20Speaker 3: who is about ninety two years old, they still one
- 14:22Speaker 3: of the best left tackles ever, And then they Christian
- 14:25Speaker 3: McCaffrey's getting older.
- 14:26Speaker 1: To position where the drop off after thirty years old
- 14:28Speaker 1: is precipitous.
- 14:30Speaker 3: Yet then they draft people that are counterintuitive to almost
- 14:33Speaker 3: everybody but John Lynch and Kyle Shannahan.
- 14:35Speaker 1: What do you make of their offseason.
- 14:37Speaker 2: That look, they've done nothing to show me that they
- 14:41Speaker 2: don't know what they're doing right. They have a plan.
- 14:44Speaker 2: There are certain teams that run certain schemes that require
- 14:49Speaker 2: certain attributes from players and even though they're like, oh,
- 14:52Speaker 2: this guy's there, why they draft this wide receiver from
- 14:56Speaker 2: All miss and they could have had this guy. Well,
- 14:57Speaker 2: you know, the Niners ask their receivers to win fifty
- 15:00Speaker 2: to fifty balls, to scoop out guys in a run game,
- 15:04Speaker 2: and to be fitsical. So maybe he fits those specs right,
- 15:07Speaker 2: And so it resigned Trent Williams. No brainer. I mean,
- 15:10Speaker 2: you do that. He's still one of the best players
- 15:12Speaker 2: in the NFL. He's a Hall of Famer and he's
- 15:13Speaker 2: still playing at a high level. So you get him
- 15:15Speaker 2: in there because look at the games. Look at their
- 15:17Speaker 2: one lost record when he's not in there, right, Like,
- 15:19Speaker 2: that's a big difference. You know, they're getting George kittleback,
- 15:22Speaker 2: so you know they know their roster better than everyone.
- 15:27Speaker 2: And again you see how certain teams have moved, right
- 15:31Speaker 2: You see, like again I'm gonna go to the Chargers.
- 15:34Speaker 2: This is a team that ran like a power run
- 15:36Speaker 2: game and this and that with Greg Roman as the OC. Okay, well,
- 15:39Speaker 2: now Mike McDaniels comes over from Miami, which is that
- 15:43Speaker 2: outside zone stretch scheme. Look at the personnel changes they made,
- 15:47Speaker 2: like they had two good tackles, they sign, you know,
- 15:50Speaker 2: a center and a guarden free agency and go out
- 15:52Speaker 2: and draft four offensive linemen who fit the scheme. So again,
- 15:56Speaker 2: a lot of this stuff. Let's be smart, you know,
- 15:59Speaker 2: let's just not look at the talent with guys produced
- 16:01Speaker 2: in college or a free agency with certain teams, and
- 16:04Speaker 2: let's look at the scheme fit. And I think that's
- 16:05Speaker 2: what the forty nine ers did. And now let's wait
- 16:08Speaker 2: and see the World Cup.
- 16:09Speaker 3: Course comeing to state of NFL stadiums across the country,
- 16:12Speaker 3: including in Seattle, and grass fields are the requirement by FIFA,
- 16:17Speaker 3: And now the NFL Players Association is using this again
- 16:19Speaker 3: as an opportunity to speak up that their players want
- 16:22Speaker 3: grass and it is far better on their bodies and
- 16:25Speaker 3: long term health. J. C. Trettter, the players Union president,
- 16:29Speaker 3: speaking at again recently. Do you see this as an
- 16:32Speaker 3: issue that's going to be collectively bargained Steve, and that
- 16:35Speaker 3: the players stand up and make this a sticking point. Hey,
- 16:38Speaker 3: you want eighteen games regular season? Put grass and on
- 16:41Speaker 3: every field because they can afford it. They're just the
- 16:43Speaker 3: owners are just choosing not to.
- 16:46Speaker 2: No, I don't think that's the hill that will be
- 16:49Speaker 2: you know that the players will die on like, hey,
- 16:51Speaker 2: we're not going to agree to this if you don't
- 16:53Speaker 2: give us grass fields, because you know, almost every team's
- 16:56Speaker 2: got grass fields to practice on and things like that.
- 17:00Speaker 2: These owners, you know, you're seeing more and more covered
- 17:02Speaker 2: stadiums because they want to have Final Fours, they want
- 17:06Speaker 2: to have Super Bowls and potential bad weather cities like look,
- 17:09Speaker 2: what's you know? National is building a beautiful stadium to
- 17:11Speaker 2: do that. Cleveland's building a stadium to do that. So
- 17:14Speaker 2: I just don't think you're going to see natural grass
- 17:17Speaker 2: on all these stadiums because they have concerts there, right
- 17:19Speaker 2: and things like that year round. And I think that's why.
- 17:24Speaker 2: You know, you can have this argument all you want,
- 17:25Speaker 2: and we all know the players prefer grass, and they've
- 17:29Speaker 2: made this argument before. But when push comes to shove,
- 17:32Speaker 2: and when it comes to dollars and dollars, which is
- 17:35Speaker 2: what collective bargaining does, usually the money supersedes the desire
- 17:40Speaker 2: for natural grass and other things.
- 17:43Speaker 3: Steve, great to hear from you, Thanks for all you
- 17:46Speaker 3: do and joining us, And you did great work all
- 17:48Speaker 3: season long. As you said, you don't really go anywhere.
- 17:51Speaker 3: You'll be on ESPN and the NFL Network. We'll talk
- 17:54Speaker 3: to you down line. Thanks a lot, appreciate you guys.
- 17:57Speaker 3: Take care. Steve White from Los Angeles on Network Tres
- 18:01Speaker 3: listening to ESPN. He talked about that he's sure right
- 18:04Speaker 3: about the money part of it, and so far the
- 18:06Speaker 3: money is trumped everything and as long as they keep
- 18:09Speaker 3: making revenue. I've said it before, the NFL players could
- 18:12Speaker 3: just say we want more of the overall league revenue
- 18:14Speaker 3: if you want to go eighteen games, and that they
- 18:16Speaker 3: can bring up this issue about grass if they wanted to.
- 18:19Speaker 3: They have bullets to use in negotiations with the owners.
- 18:24Speaker 3: Let's see if they actually do it. Next Westwood one
- 18:26Speaker 3: is going to bring an update from the PGA Championship
- 18:29Speaker 3: just outside Philadelphia.
- 18:30Speaker 1: Then we'll readback your text.
- 18:31Speaker 3: At four nine, four to five one on the Takoma Dodge,
- 18:33Speaker 3: texaon on ninety three point three KJRFM. Into the mid eighties.
- 18:37Speaker 3: He is going to be talking to the coaches as well.
- 18:39Speaker 3: That's a Sunday as well as the Hall of Fame
- 18:41Speaker 3: induction ceremony for the latest class of the Washington State
- 18:43Speaker 3: Football Coaches Association. So our thanks to them and all
- 18:46Speaker 3: Craig and what they do coaches around the state. Eleven
- 18:49Speaker 3: hundred strong coaches in Washington are part of the Washington
- 18:53Speaker 3: State Football Coaches Association.
- 18:56Speaker 4: From the two six, this is an interesting theory. Maybe
- 18:59Speaker 4: the Super Bowl rematch is a punishment for a Rabel.
- 19:03Speaker 4: Think about it. The network gets great ratings and Rabel
- 19:07Speaker 4: is thrown into the fire in Week one and has
- 19:09Speaker 4: to deal with all the scrutiny on prime time.
- 19:13Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 19:14Speaker 3: Well, one thing is for sure, people will talk about it. Yes,
- 19:17Speaker 3: Will it make people more people tune in?
- 19:19Speaker 2: Nah?
- 19:20Speaker 1: Maybe the NFL is going that way. Huh more the better.
- 19:24Speaker 4: Another one from the two to oh six, Greg, the
- 19:26Speaker 4: biggest negative for putting grass and lumen is that was
- 19:30Speaker 4: built on landfilled over tide flats, and that didn't build
- 19:33Speaker 4: the foundation as concrete bathtub like t Mobile Park has.
- 19:37Speaker 4: The water table is about five feet below ground level.
- 19:40Speaker 4: That's interesting. I didn't know that.
- 19:43Speaker 1: I don't know if this is I you know, sounds.
- 19:45Speaker 3: Like a hydrologist is talking to us. That's great, and
- 19:49Speaker 3: that is interesting if that's in fact what has happened.
- 19:52Speaker 3: And if they didn't do that, it would tell me
- 19:53Speaker 3: that they'd never intended to do anything butt turf so
- 19:56Speaker 3: that they could have tractor pools and concerts and the like.
- 19:59Speaker 3: The wouldn't have to replace a grass field and spend
- 20:02Speaker 3: the money on doing it.
- 20:03Speaker 1: Again, NFL owners have I mean, let's be honest.
- 20:06Speaker 3: NFL owners have the ability to rip up whoever buys
- 20:10Speaker 3: the Seahawks for ten billion or eight billion dollars have
- 20:12Speaker 3: the ability to rip up the underneath the field and
- 20:15Speaker 3: put in a concrete bathup if that's what it takes.
- 20:18Speaker 3: They just choose not to because they keep their revenues.
- 20:20Speaker 3: And yeah, I disagree with Steve saying that the players
- 20:26Speaker 3: couldn't go to bat and make this a collective bargaining issue.
- 20:29Speaker 1: They absolutely could, and FIVA does it.
- 20:32Speaker 3: World Cup and international soccer tournaments must be grass. That's
- 20:37Speaker 3: why we're having grass trade in over top of the
- 20:39Speaker 3: turf at newman Field this coming next month. That's why
- 20:43Speaker 3: grass is on the field right now. The Saunders played
- 20:45Speaker 3: on it last week.
- 20:46Speaker 4: Last night from the two five to three Michael ten
- 20:50Speaker 4: game wins. Reach start that first pitch, No, A definite
- 20:53Speaker 4: m s thing to do with Kyle getting some much
- 20:55Speaker 4: needed rest, all right. I mean, hell, I thought they're
- 20:58Speaker 4: going to sweep that ass. So you saw how that went.
- 21:00Speaker 1: M m it's okay, a ten game winning streak. They'd
- 21:02Speaker 1: be up like six games in the division if that happened.
- 21:05Speaker 1: Sign me up.
- 21:07Speaker 3: That's how close they are for I really don't think again.
- 21:10Speaker 3: I think cal Rowley could miss two months and they
- 21:13Speaker 3: still win the division. The division is bad, bad, all right.
- 21:17Speaker 3: We asked the question who's the greatest baseball player ever?
- 21:20Speaker 3: And we've got great answers, and the best one was
- 21:23Speaker 3: from the two Oho six I think it was two six,
- 21:24Speaker 3: say and Roberto Clemente. Yes, that's he is so good,
- 21:29Speaker 3: I mean on and off the field what he did.
- 21:31Speaker 3: Of course, he died in a plane crash while on
- 21:34Speaker 3: a humanitarian mission from people who were suffering earthquakes in
- 21:37Speaker 3: his home country.
- 21:39Speaker 1: The Puerto Ricans to.
- 21:40Speaker 3: This day love him down there, and I was a
- 21:44Speaker 3: big fan of his when I was grown up in
- 21:46Speaker 3: the seventies in Pittsburgh.
- 21:48Speaker 1: That's a great one, Roberto Clemente.
- 21:50Speaker 3: I still say it's Hoeo Tony because Roberto Clemente did
- 21:52Speaker 3: not pitch and hit at the same time. But Clemente
- 21:55Speaker 3: was amazing his arm. He was like Ichi row in
- 21:59Speaker 3: the seventies. He was really that good.
- 22:02Speaker 1: In case you missed it, earlier.
- 22:03Speaker 3: Robinson, by the way, excuse me, three sister said Jackie Robinson.
- 22:06Speaker 3: You can't argue with that either, benty. Jackie Robinson didn't
- 22:09Speaker 3: pitch either. That's sorry.
- 22:11Speaker 4: The game advances. What more could jazz for? So he Tani,
- 22:16Speaker 4: he's the only one doing what he's done ever. Ever,
- 22:19Speaker 4: that's crazy being the first of your m'll be great
- 22:23Speaker 4: to do that, right, You put yourself in a different tier, right,
- 22:26Speaker 4: that's for sure. From the two o six, Greg earlier
- 22:30Speaker 4: talking about the halftime show for the World Cup, and
- 22:33Speaker 4: you said, Madonna, Shakira, Sesame Street and what was the
- 22:36Speaker 4: other show uppets, muppets that will be performing at halftime?
- 22:39Speaker 4: And someone from the two o six, Hell no, why
- 22:42Speaker 4: are they bringing Madonna.
- 22:43Speaker 1: Out with her? Well, we'll just leave that up. Not
- 22:45Speaker 1: gonna be mean, but yes, why bring Madonna out? I
- 22:48Speaker 1: don't know, man, Madonna? Go ahead, go ahead, Madonna sixty seven,
- 22:52Speaker 1: So sixty seven.
- 22:53Speaker 3: Someone said that she two of six, Thanks for sitting
- 22:56Speaker 3: sixty seven, Dustin and two fight three, our coach buddy said.
- 23:00Speaker 3: Madonna showed up at Coucella a few weeks ago. On
- 23:02Speaker 3: stage was Sabrina carpentering.
- 23:04Speaker 1: Prob I bet she did. But I mean for me,
- 23:07Speaker 1: I'm just like, if I'm if I'm a soccer fan.
- 23:10Speaker 4: Do I really care about some seven year old woman
- 23:12Speaker 4: up there singing and dancing unless I know her history?
- 23:15Speaker 3: My wife, well, most people know Badonna's history. I would
- 23:18Speaker 3: think I would think, No, I don't. I don't know.
- 23:21Speaker 3: I'm not going to be I would say, probably, but
- 23:24Speaker 3: maybe not. I don't know what the soccer with music
- 23:28Speaker 3: is their trend if that makes sense, true, Like you
- 23:30Speaker 3: look at but she's worldwide and that's that's so that's
- 23:35Speaker 3: exactly what I was thinking. She's worldwide, so they would
- 23:37Speaker 3: definitely know. But she's also like, is she not in
- 23:40Speaker 3: her prime anymore?
- 23:40Speaker 1: I would say definitely not. But and you're right, some
- 23:44Speaker 1: people don't know.
- 23:45Speaker 3: I guess some people don't know Madonna because it's that
- 23:48Speaker 3: era of music that people like you and younger don't know.
- 23:51Speaker 1: Those people like I'll never forget that I told you this.
- 23:54Speaker 3: I mentioned on the air before we were in Arizona
- 23:56Speaker 3: and they were playing a kiss Cam Madonna song and
- 24:00Speaker 3: I turned to Dugar, sitting next to Michael Seawan Dugard
- 24:02Speaker 3: in the press box, and I said, Mike, who's this?
- 24:06Speaker 1: I don't know, and then I did it again.
- 24:10Speaker 3: I think a different stadium, I can't remember which one,
- 24:12Speaker 3: might have been Nashville and it was Whitney Houston was playing,
- 24:16Speaker 3: and I thought, well, sure he'll get this.
- 24:17Speaker 1: And he didn't know who Whitney Houston was. Guard didn't
- 24:21Speaker 1: know why. I think, sorry, Mike, we're just out of
- 24:24Speaker 1: your right here alive on the radio. He knows who
- 24:25Speaker 1: Whitney Houston is. I'm pretty sure it was in Nashville
- 24:28Speaker 1: and Whitney here.
- 24:28Speaker 3: It might have been actually in Arizona again in Whitney Houston,
- 24:31Speaker 3: and he did his first year on the beat, it
- 24:32Speaker 3: might have been his first year on Earth.
- 24:35Speaker 4: I was like, I really put money down that there's
- 24:38Speaker 4: a miss there's something missing in this story here, because
- 24:41Speaker 4: there's no way he don't know about Whitney Houston. His
- 24:46Speaker 4: parents brought him up and probably was playing Whitney.
- 24:49Speaker 1: I totally agree with you that we're gonna have to
- 24:53Speaker 1: get Mike on that side.
- 24:55Speaker 3: I'm discounting on the radios friend of mine, and I'm
- 24:58Speaker 3: just killing him. But I was, I'm so shocked. I
- 25:00Speaker 3: think I called my wife from the press box.
- 25:02Speaker 4: Okay, if you called your wife, then maybe he really
- 25:04Speaker 4: did not know, and I'm like, bro, our friendship has
- 25:06Speaker 4: now been revoked, right, Like I said, I.
- 25:08Speaker 3: Don't want to just tarnish him in public radio. But
- 25:13Speaker 3: that's how I remember the story to two five three says,
- 25:17Speaker 3: are we one hundred percent sure that Madonna is not
- 25:19Speaker 3: actually a muppet at this point?
- 25:21Speaker 1: Hey be nice? All right? That's why I didn't read
- 25:24Speaker 1: the second part of mine because of that.
- 25:25Speaker 4: You know, he still carries a tune we all definitely
- 25:30Speaker 4: tune into here about Madonna. You know, look or sorry,
- 25:33Speaker 4: we got carried away. I got one for you from
- 25:35Speaker 4: the five eight five? Where the hell is that?
- 25:37Speaker 1: Greg?
- 25:37Speaker 3: I'm guessing southern California in one? That's my guess, totally random.
- 25:41Speaker 3: Guess Bill's versus the ok super Bowl. Give me your
- 25:44Speaker 3: thoughts on why the Bills will make the big game.
- 25:47Speaker 3: I've been thinking Bills for it. It's Rochester, New York.
- 25:49Speaker 3: So that's why he said vote. I just looked it up.
- 25:51Speaker 1: Oh thank you? Why I said Bills?
- 25:53Speaker 3: First of all, people Western New York are I've mentioned
- 25:56Speaker 3: him a thousand times. The best man in my wedding
- 25:57Speaker 3: is from Western New York. The most quality people maybe
- 25:59Speaker 3: in country. I love you? Five eight five. I love you,
- 26:03Speaker 3: I know if you're from Western New York quality people.
- 26:05Speaker 3: I've been thinking the Bills is gonna make the playoffs
- 26:07Speaker 3: for years or super Bowl. I'm sorry, super Bowl for years.
- 26:10Speaker 3: I think it's gonna be Bills. That's that's if.
- 26:12Speaker 1: I if you had to say today, Greg, who's gonna
- 26:14Speaker 1: be in the Super Bowl? Bill s Damn Lamar stilln't
- 26:16Speaker 1: make it. Jesus man, I think that John Harbot exited
- 26:20Speaker 1: Baltimore is gonna hurt them.
- 26:21Speaker 3: Probably culture, all the intangibles like Mike McDonald's brought Baltimore
- 26:26Speaker 3: just lost that let it go right out the door.
- 26:29Speaker 1: Damn well, Lamar, it's been a great run, man.
- 26:32Speaker 3: I like Bill Seahawks as a super Bowl. Tell me
- 26:34Speaker 3: that wouldn't be an entertainment? Are you serious?
- 26:36Speaker 4: Josh Allen the Bazooka thrower that would be physical and
- 26:39Speaker 4: Mike McDonald's defense, like that's that's must see TV.
- 26:42Speaker 1: That would be better than Patriots better.
- 26:45Speaker 4: I was hoping it would happen last year, and then
- 26:47Speaker 4: they lost to Denver well because guys dropping past actually
- 26:51Speaker 4: didn't play his best game.
- 26:52Speaker 3: We all understand oh two those six because we're an
- 26:57Speaker 3: ICO opportunity show. Don't talk about the NBA draft being
- 27:00Speaker 3: got it check, No one cares. Don't talk about high
- 27:03Speaker 3: school sports, No one cares. We know that's not true.
- 27:06Speaker 3: That's just factually incorrect to say no one cares about
- 27:08Speaker 3: high school sports. Three fourths of our listeners have kids
- 27:11Speaker 3: in high school sports. That's just false. Don't talk about
- 27:15Speaker 3: the NFL schedule. No one cares. So what is it
- 27:18Speaker 3: to you people care about? Oh, he's being contrarian here.
- 27:23Speaker 1: She or she? Thank you. You're right.
- 27:26Speaker 3: If nobody cared about any of that stuff, we wouldn't
- 27:28Speaker 3: have a sports radio from about February to September. There
- 27:33Speaker 3: weren't any NFL games going on. People care about things
- 27:36Speaker 3: or else, we wouldn't be talking about it.
- 27:38Speaker 1: Last time.
- 27:39Speaker 3: You wouldn't be listening to it. I would think last
- 27:41Speaker 3: I get the point everyone says, who cares? It was
- 27:43Speaker 3: Ashley brought up earlier in her show.
- 27:45Speaker 4: Last One for Me Before we throw to the Mayor.
- 27:46Speaker 4: This will put Greg put a smile on Greg's face.
- 27:49Speaker 4: From the four two five, no pop culture references until
- 27:52Speaker 4: someone sees Gladiator.
- 27:54Speaker 3: Oh man, that's just gonna be like that's I could
- 27:57Speaker 3: go to.
- 27:58Speaker 1: That's all you can just come back to that one, right, yes,
- 28:00Speaker 1: until he sees it.
- 28:02Speaker 4: Someone could always take something in and be like something
- 28:04Speaker 4: something Gladiator.
- 28:05Speaker 3: I've lived fifty five years and pretty full life, pretty happy,
- 28:08Speaker 3: proud of what I've accomplished in my family and love
- 28:11Speaker 3: them and still been okay and gotten by without.
- 28:14Speaker 4: Watching two years later, by the way, twenty twenty fourth,
- 28:18Speaker 4: when we started this show, and two years later, people
- 28:20Speaker 4: are like, what's up with this guy?
- 28:21Speaker 1: Greg? I get dms like so cute?
- 28:23Speaker 4: Are you ever gonna just like sit Greg down and
- 28:26Speaker 4: like put the movie on for him?
- 28:28Speaker 5: Maybe of anything and everything I've tried to accomplish in
- 28:32Speaker 5: my life. West Point degree or Army career, two degrees,
- 28:36Speaker 5: Berkeley Master's degree, twenty five years covered in the NFL.
- 28:39Speaker 1: The fact that I'm judged by weather. I've seen glady.
- 28:43Speaker 1: I say it's fair. We got to burn his feet.
- 28:46Speaker 1: Guys do something, they do it. They do a good
- 28:48Speaker 1: job of that. Two six. As Bucky Jacinson is the goat,
- 28:52Speaker 1: shout out Bucky Hope, all is well, We'll see you
- 28:54Speaker 1: assume Yeah.
- 28:54Speaker 3: Right, yes, sir, we had to put that in infinaced
- 28:57Speaker 3: The maryor Maple Valley joined us next on ninety three
- 28:59Speaker 3: point three.
- 28:59Speaker 6: kJ that kind of dropped off some goodies, the Mariners
- 29:04Speaker 6: who just their promotions team.
- 29:06Speaker 1: So come on in.
- 29:07Speaker 6: Yeah, you could open the door, all right, you were
- 29:10Speaker 6: on the air. I didn't want to interrupt anything. I
- 29:12Speaker 6: know you're a professional out here.
- 29:15Speaker 1: Have we just talked about the Muppets, Sesame Street and Madonna?
- 29:17Speaker 1: Nice in BTS? Okay, the halftime show, Chris.
- 29:21Speaker 3: And I did not know anything about BTS. We played
- 29:23Speaker 3: two songs and had never heard either. Well, Dynamite we'd heard.
- 29:26Speaker 3: Are they that Chris had never heard?
- 29:27Speaker 1: Are they that Korean? Yes? Okay, yeah, yeah that's what
- 29:31Speaker 1: I thought.
- 29:31Speaker 6: Okay, I've heard a few of their songs, just because
- 29:35Speaker 6: they're kind of I mean, it's a global game. You're
- 29:37Speaker 6: going to have all different types of you have Madonna, Shakira,
- 29:40Speaker 6: and BTS I think are the three headliner.
- 29:42Speaker 1: Chris thinks Madonna needs to be retired. I probably agree
- 29:45Speaker 1: with that.
- 29:45Speaker 4: He's like seventy out there doing I know I might
- 29:48Speaker 4: look great, but I don't want to see her looking.
- 29:50Speaker 6: It depends on how she sounds. Although Shakira is close
- 29:53Speaker 6: to sixty and she sounds great.
- 29:55Speaker 4: Shakira, Yeah, he's still doing that one song body like that.
- 29:58Speaker 1: She did the World Cup life. Yeah.
- 30:00Speaker 4: Yeah, do her lips lie now, I'm kidding No hips,
- 30:04Speaker 4: do her hips lie?
- 30:05Speaker 3: Now?
- 30:05Speaker 1: Oh no, they do not. Oh and it's absolutely not.
- 30:08Speaker 1: Look her up, bro Christ when you get close to sixty,
- 30:12Speaker 1: you don't stop funding a person's forty nine.
- 30:14Speaker 6: Sorry, but Jesus man, you age the hell out of
- 30:16Speaker 6: I remember, just know it. Thinking that she was older
- 30:20Speaker 6: than Donna.
- 30:21Speaker 1: She was young.
- 30:22Speaker 3: She did the World Cup anthem when they were in
- 30:24Speaker 3: South Africa as they did, which was like twenty years ago.
- 30:27Speaker 1: Yeah, that's the waka waka. Yeah.
- 30:28Speaker 3: Yeah, you're wearing your military Mariner's cap. Are you concerned?
- 30:32Speaker 3: You should Mariners be concerned that when they give away
- 30:35Speaker 3: games like last night, oh god, Emily winnable. How many
- 30:38Speaker 3: times did we talk about they should have won that game? Yeah,
- 30:40Speaker 3: that this will catch up to them by the season's end.
- 30:42Speaker 3: Or I'm of the belief they're going to win a
- 30:45Speaker 3: di visiit.
- 30:45Speaker 1: Yeah they are.
- 30:46Speaker 6: I think I think they are. This you could you
- 30:47Speaker 6: could see how bad the Astros are. They might be
- 30:49Speaker 6: the worst team in the league, by the way, but
- 30:52Speaker 6: they're they're not. All losses are created equal, right, It's
- 30:54Speaker 6: one thing if you just don't have it that day,
- 30:57Speaker 6: you know your picture doesn't have it. We have CASTI
- 30:59Speaker 6: on the mound today. We'll see how that kind of
- 31:00Speaker 6: plays out. He's not been good lately. You know, your
- 31:03Speaker 6: offense doesn't look great. Fine, like every even the best
- 31:06Speaker 6: teams league lose at least no. Sixty games in a season. Right,
- 31:09Speaker 6: but it's last night where like you said, it's winnable
- 31:14Speaker 6: and you know you have this amazing comeback. How about
- 31:16Speaker 6: that at bat from Julio Rodriguez in the bottom of the
- 31:18Speaker 6: ninth and thing with the bases loaded. How many times
- 31:20Speaker 6: in his previous what four years do you see him
- 31:23Speaker 6: chase about three times there? And he does high fast
- 31:26Speaker 6: sat three times, and it's I thought that was such
- 31:31Speaker 6: a moment of growth from him. So I took a
- 31:33Speaker 6: huge positive there. Obviously, the whole caw Rawley situation. You
- 31:36Speaker 6: guys talked about it yesterday too. He shouldn't be playing.
- 31:41Speaker 6: He shouldn't be playing, and like I kind of would
- 31:44Speaker 6: get it if there is a trade off in terms of, okay,
- 31:46Speaker 6: he still gives us the best chance to win right now.
- 31:49Speaker 6: If that was the case, then it's like, okay, these
- 31:51Speaker 6: games matter, and you can kind of deal with the
- 31:53Speaker 6: pain and move on with it. But that isn't even
- 31:56Speaker 6: the case. Mitch Garver right now gives you a best
- 31:58Speaker 6: better chance to win than cal because of what he
- 32:01Speaker 6: is the worst everyday player offensively on the Mariners right now.
- 32:04Speaker 3: And only that his side hurting is why he didn't
- 32:07Speaker 3: complete the double play, which is why they asked the
- 32:11Speaker 3: trash cans took the league.
- 32:12Speaker 1: Yeah, he almost said the wrong name. I caught myself.
- 32:16Speaker 6: No, but it's like, and I get it, like he
- 32:19Speaker 6: still is providing value defensively. And I know people like
- 32:22Speaker 6: to trash on Mitch Garver in this town, and I'm
- 32:24Speaker 6: not a huge fan of him either, but right now,
- 32:27Speaker 6: Mitch Garver gives you a better chance to win baseball
- 32:29Speaker 6: games if he's playing every day as opposed to cal Rawley.
- 32:31Speaker 6: This is even setting aside the fact that you want
- 32:33Speaker 6: to get cal Rawly healthy for the rest of the season.
- 32:35Speaker 6: So that's that's where I stand on this thing. We'll
- 32:38Speaker 6: definitely touch on that a little bit today as well.
- 32:40Speaker 3: I was negligent not giving you a keyword for this hour,
- 32:42Speaker 3: and now the hours are over.
- 32:44Speaker 1: Media M E. D.
- 32:45Speaker 3: I A entered that at ninety three kidjar dot com
- 32:47Speaker 3: the win one thousand dollars. What do you guys Ian
- 32:50Speaker 3: have going on?
- 32:51Speaker 1: Ian's out today. I thought I saw it. No, No,
- 32:54Speaker 1: he's out today. He's taking a couple days off, you know,
- 32:55Speaker 1: the mayor.
- 32:56Speaker 6: He's kind of yeah, of course, you know us in
- 32:59Speaker 6: the media, you know the true professionals.
- 33:03Speaker 1: You know, they got to take their days off when
- 33:05Speaker 1: they get him.
- 33:05Speaker 6: So he's using those ones. It's me and Jackson Feltz today.
- 33:08Speaker 6: Oh right, so I'm excited. We'll yeah, right off of

- 33:17Speaker 6: about the game last night, possibly.
- 33:20Speaker 1: Some World Cup talk as well.
- 33:22Speaker 6: Yeah, I heard you guys talk about that a little bit.
- 33:24Speaker 6: It's getting close, less than a month away. We're going
- 33:26Speaker 6: to talk to Cormyn Smith as well, talk some Seahawks schedule,
- 33:28Speaker 6: and of course Eno Saras from the Athletic at two o'clock.
- 33:32Speaker 6: Hopefully that's right around when the Mariners game is finishing.
- 33:34Speaker 6: So little postgame shows slash nerding out Mariners wise with
- 33:37Speaker 6: Eno Saras.
- 33:38Speaker 1: That's Anderson Hurst. Jackson felt not Ian fornest from twelve.
