- 0:01One of the limitations of mind embedded in a physical body is
- 0:05that it tends to fixate on what it can experience here and now.
- 0:09It has a hard time correlating past, present, and future and
- 0:14seeing and understanding trends, directions, trajectories, and
- 0:18momentum other than in specific areas such as physics or
- 0:23mechanics that focus the mind on these things.
- 0:28Things that are unseen are for the most part either ignored or
- 0:31dismissed. Another limitation is the
- 0:34fragmented approach that sees parts but not the whole, and
- 0:38sees them in isolation from the other parts, as if they are
- 0:42totally separate and distinct entities existing independently
- 0:46from one another. Thus, it has a hard time
- 0:50appreciating the big picture that makes sense out of the
- 0:54disparate elements. Additionally, it has a
- 0:58difficulty in appreciating that something that manifests in the
- 1:02future may indeed represent something entirely new and
- 1:06different from the present known and experienced ways of nature.
- 1:12For these reasons, it becomes almost impossible for any mental
- 1:16analysis to recognize and understand the evolution of
- 1:20consciousness through time, the transitional nature of the
- 1:23current stage, and the inevitability of a new phase
- 1:27that ushers in a consciousness that operates from a totally
- 1:30different perspective and power of action.
- 1:34Based on what Shrioro Bindo calls a reversal of
- 1:37consciousness, the mental consciousness cannot comprehend
- 1:42the type of radical differences that can occur with the advent
- 1:46of a new power of consciousness involving changes in the way the
- 1:50physical body operates, the vital force acts and the mind
- 1:55responds, Sri Robindo writes quote.
- 2:00The descent of the Super Mine is a long process, or at least a
- 2:04process with a long preparation, and one can only say that the
- 2:09work is going on, sometimes with a strong pressure for
- 2:12completion, sometimes retarded by the things that rise from
- 2:16below and have to be dealt with before further progress can be
- 2:20made. The process is a spiritual
- 2:23evolutionary process concentrated into a brief
- 2:27period. It could be done otherwise by
- 2:31what men would regard as a miraculous intervention only if
- 2:35the human mind were more flexible and less attached to
- 2:38its ignorance than it is as we envisage it.
- 2:42It must manifest in a few 1st and then spread, but it is not
- 2:46likely to overpower the earth in a moment.
- 2:49It is not advisable to discuss too much what it will do and how
- 2:54it will do it, because these are things the Super mind itself
- 2:57will fix, acting out of the Divine truth in it, and the mind
- 3:02must not try to fix for it grooves in which it will run
- 3:06naturally. The release from subconscious
- 3:09ignorance and from disease. Duration of life at will and a
- 3:14change in the functionings of the body must be among the
- 3:17ultimate elements of a super mental change, but the details
- 3:22of these things must be left for the Super mental energy to work
- 3:25out according to the truth of its own nature.
- 3:29The descent of the Super mental is an inevitable necessity in
- 3:34the logic of things, and is there for sure.
- 3:38It is because people do not understand what the Super mind
- 3:42is, or realize the significance of the emergence of
- 3:45consciousness in a world of inconscient matter, that they
- 3:49are unable to realize this inevitability.
- 3:53I suppose a matter of fact observer, if there had been one
- 3:57at the time of the unrelieved reign of inanimate matter in the
- 4:02earth's beginning, would have criticized any promise of the
- 4:06emergence of life in a world of dead earth and rock and mineral
- 4:10as an absurdity and a shimra. So, too, afterwards he would
- 4:15have repeated this mistake, and regarded the emergence of
- 4:19thought and reason in an animal world as an absurdity and a
- 4:23shimra. It is the same now with the
- 4:26appearance of super mind in the stumbling mentality of this
- 4:30world of human consciousness and it's reasoning ignorance.
