- 0:00Speaker 1: This is the Ben and Ashley I Almost Famous podcast
- 0:03Speaker 1: with iHeartRadio.
- 0:06Speaker 2: This is an.
- 0:06Speaker 3: Interview we've been waiting for. Why you asked, well, because
- 0:09Speaker 3: she's one of our favorites. We in a free agency draft,
- 0:15Speaker 3: Ashley and myself would have drafted her first to be
- 0:18Speaker 3: in Paradise.
- 0:19Speaker 4: Oh wow, thanks guys.
- 0:21Speaker 3: And then yeah, she became very sought after in Paradise,
- 0:26Speaker 3: even if she knew it or not. Jess, Welcome to
- 0:29Speaker 3: the Almost Famis podcast.
- 0:30Speaker 4: Hi guys, thanks for having me. Hi.
- 0:32Speaker 5: Of course, we love having you. And I'd have to
- 0:35Speaker 5: say that you probably were the most sought after woman.
- 0:39Speaker 5: I don't think there was one guy there that wasn't like, Yeah,
- 0:41Speaker 5: I'd like to get to know Jess better.
- 0:44Speaker 4: Thanks. Yeah, I don't know. It was definitely an interesting
- 0:48Speaker 4: new environment, but I'm glad that I went and everyone
- 0:51Speaker 4: was very nice.
- 0:52Speaker 2: So they were very nice to you.
- 0:53Speaker 3: Let's be honest, like you had to walk out of
- 0:56Speaker 3: there with no matter what, at least your confidence being
- 0:59Speaker 3: built a little bit, right, Yeah.
- 1:01Speaker 4: I mean yes, and no, I mean I think just
- 1:04Speaker 4: like as I get older, you know, that's something I'm
- 1:06Speaker 4: working on. But I'm glad in general I walked out
- 1:10Speaker 4: of their no like burnt bridges or anything, and just
- 1:15Speaker 4: you know, stay out a lot of the drama. Kept
- 1:17Speaker 4: to myself, just continue to work on myself. The best
- 1:21Speaker 4: thing that you can really like learn from now and
- 1:23Speaker 4: take from that based.
- 1:24Speaker 3: On what she has said, we just got to start
- 1:26Speaker 3: this thing out with what we committed to doing yesterday.
- 1:30Speaker 6: Okay, but I was going to make it more subtle.
- 1:34Speaker 3: Well, no, I don't think there's any settlements. Oh Okay,
- 1:37Speaker 3: yesterday we had an interview with Tanner. It was a
- 1:41Speaker 3: great interview and he just mentioned kind of actually kind
- 1:47Speaker 3: of clarify the adjectives I'm going to use here. He
- 1:50Speaker 3: just mentioned he was saddened, disappointed that he didn't get
- 1:55Speaker 3: a better first impression with you, that he would really
- 1:58Speaker 3: have liked the second chance with you, that he is
- 2:02Speaker 3: still open to a chance with you. And then we asked,
- 2:04Speaker 3: can we tell Jess this and try to make this
- 2:07Speaker 3: happen or at least bring it to her attention, and
- 2:09Speaker 3: he said, yes, you can.
- 2:12Speaker 6: She looks genuinely happy.
- 2:13Speaker 2: I think, I.
- 2:15Speaker 4: Mean, that's really I think that's really sweet. He's really
- 2:19Speaker 4: really nice guy. I'm like, you know, although like I
- 2:22Speaker 4: think my time at Paradise was it maybe the most
- 2:26Speaker 4: fun I've ever had in my life. It was he
- 2:29Speaker 4: was a good person to end the experience with. He
- 2:32Speaker 4: was so nice to me and so understanding. I think
- 2:35Speaker 4: it would have been horrible if, like the situation was different,
- 2:40Speaker 4: someone arose and they like hated me for changing my
- 2:43Speaker 4: mind the next day, like, he was so kind to
- 2:45Speaker 4: me about that, So I'm.
- 2:46Speaker 6: Glad that, Yeah he was. He was like, let's get
- 2:49Speaker 6: out of here.
- 2:49Speaker 5: Then, you know, Okay, well, let's go back in time
- 2:53Speaker 5: and change what he wishes he could have, and that
- 2:56Speaker 5: is ask you out on a date, you know, up
- 3:00Speaker 5: with you that first week instead of cat. Do you
- 3:04Speaker 5: see your experience and Paradise going any differently?
- 3:08Speaker 4: I mean I think regardless, that would make the experience
- 3:11Speaker 4: different just because it's something that didn't happen. But I
- 3:15Speaker 4: mean I did at that point. It was so early on.
- 3:18Speaker 4: I think it was like day three or you know,
- 3:20Speaker 4: it was really early. So I would have gone on at
- 3:23Speaker 4: the he was someone that I was interested in meeting,
- 3:27Speaker 4: but I don't. I can't really get on like in
- 3:30Speaker 4: terms of who I would have ended up. I think
- 3:32Speaker 4: no matter what, I was mentally there alone to be honest,
- 3:36Speaker 4: So I don't. I don't think it would have changed
- 3:38Speaker 4: a lot.
- 3:39Speaker 3: The conversation with Tanner yesterday really just showed us, Jess,
- 3:42Speaker 3: what I think everybody on that beach was feeling is
- 3:45Speaker 3: that you were somebody who a lot of people wanted
- 3:48Speaker 3: to get to know because you carried yourself well. But
- 3:51Speaker 3: you had just mentioned a few minutes ago that this
- 3:54Speaker 3: wasn't the most fun experience for you, and I think
- 3:59Speaker 3: the show did that. Did your storyline a little bit
- 4:01Speaker 3: of an injustice, if that's true, because it looked like
- 4:04Speaker 3: you were having a great time outside of obviously, you know,
- 4:08Speaker 3: some just disconnection between you and Blake. But after that,
- 4:13Speaker 3: you know, there was literally a line of dudes standing
- 4:15Speaker 3: there being like, hey, well you're singing.
- 4:18Speaker 6: That she's having fun.
- 4:21Speaker 2: That's why my question is I I just look.
- 4:23Speaker 5: Actually relatively missed me most of the time. You're always
- 4:27Speaker 5: in your head.
- 4:28Speaker 3: Yeah, well that's my question for you is what was
- 4:31Speaker 3: not fun about being in Paradise for you?
- 4:34Speaker 4: Okay? Yeah, so you know, I think for me, I
- 4:37Speaker 4: did not go into Paradise prepared at all. I didn't
- 4:41Speaker 4: think about what it would be like if the guy
- 4:43Speaker 4: like took my best friend on a date or if
- 4:45Speaker 4: I wasn't sure if the guy was with was my
- 4:48Speaker 4: most like compatible person, Like I just didn't prepare it
- 4:51Speaker 4: at all, and I handled it exactly how I would
- 4:54Speaker 4: outside of the show, like cameras off, like I am
- 4:57Speaker 4: someone that takes time and I'm very logical and I'm
- 5:01Speaker 4: very reasonable in the relationship. I think my number one
- 5:04Speaker 4: thing on Paradise that I wish I did differently was
- 5:06Speaker 4: just have more fun. I'm like, for me, it was like,
- 5:10Speaker 4: I don't want to leave here and figure it out
- 5:12Speaker 4: if we're gonna work or not, Like I want to
- 5:13Speaker 4: figure out then and there. And so I think my
- 5:16Speaker 4: biggest thing that if I were to change anything, even
- 5:19Speaker 4: though I was being myself, So I don't really know
- 5:20Speaker 4: if I would change it, but maybe just have more
- 5:23Speaker 4: fun and not need yes to know black and white
- 5:26Speaker 4: answers and just enjoy the time and figure it out
- 5:29Speaker 4: as I went instead of figuring it out right then there.
- 5:32Speaker 5: I feel like we're very similar in this way. I
- 5:35Speaker 5: feel like there's probably no chance that you were going
- 5:38Speaker 5: to have fun in that environment.
- 5:41Speaker 6: I too, No, I mean like you can't help not
- 5:45Speaker 6: taking it seriously, is what I mean. Like, you can.
- 5:48Speaker 5: Definitely have fun in the environment. I definitely did, but
- 5:51Speaker 5: you can't not take it seriously.
- 5:53Speaker 6: Yeah, do you know what I mean?
- 5:54Speaker 5: It's just like there's some people out there that just
- 5:57Speaker 5: like love's too important. Yeah, okay, but does This is
- 6:02Speaker 5: one thing that I was so confused about looking at
- 6:05Speaker 5: your journey and almost like every week you would say
- 6:08Speaker 5: something like why me, why is this going wrong? Everything's
- 6:12Speaker 5: going wrong around me? And I was like, why does
- 6:16Speaker 5: she think everything's going wrong? The only thing that's going
- 6:18Speaker 5: wrong is she doesn't know whether or not she likes
- 6:20Speaker 5: Blake enough.
- 6:21Speaker 4: Yeah right?
- 6:21Speaker 6: Am I right?
- 6:22Speaker 4: Yeah? No, I mean it definitely was frustrating even watching
- 6:25Speaker 4: myself back, you know, and I'm sure you guys both understand,
- 6:29Speaker 4: like you learn a lot watching yourself back, You learn
- 6:31Speaker 4: a lot even the second that you leave and reflecting
- 6:34Speaker 4: in that moment, you know, it was just a course
- 6:37Speaker 4: of events, Like the guy was really interested in took
- 6:39Speaker 4: my best friend on a date. There was never really
- 6:42Speaker 4: a time for me to explore that. I also didn't
- 6:44Speaker 4: really want.
- 6:44Speaker 5: To didn't make that a big deal either. They didn't
- 6:47Speaker 5: make it seem like you were really into him. Well
- 6:49Speaker 5: there was like a blip.
- 6:50Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean, can I hal that our conversations about
- 6:54Speaker 4: it very maturely, like it wasn't I can't be upset that,
- 6:58Speaker 4: like that was his choice, Like you know, there's only
- 7:00Speaker 4: so much I could actually be frustrated about. And then,
- 7:05Speaker 4: you know, I thought Blake and I were always on
- 7:07Speaker 4: the same page, like every answer that I every question
- 7:11Speaker 4: that I was asked, every answer I gave, I thought
- 7:13Speaker 4: he would say the same thing. And so when things
- 7:15Speaker 4: started switching and I was caught off guard, it was
- 7:17Speaker 4: just I was so overwhelmed because I was like, I
- 7:20Speaker 4: just feel like this, like what is going on? And
- 7:24Speaker 4: so yeah, no, I think I played a victim mindset
- 7:27Speaker 4: a bit, but it was more so just like I
- 7:29Speaker 4: thought I was going to be in love a lot quicker,
- 7:33Speaker 4: like I thought first day, second day, I'd be like,
- 7:35Speaker 4: oh this, I'm leaving with him for sure. And there
- 7:37Speaker 4: was never a time where I genuinely thought that without
- 7:41Speaker 4: a like a butt or what if in the back
- 7:44Speaker 4: of my mind.
- 7:46Speaker 3: So there was like, was there ever a moment where
- 7:49Speaker 3: you thought that Blake could be the person that you
- 7:52Speaker 3: would leave the beach with? Or was that always a
- 7:54Speaker 3: little doubt?
- 7:54Speaker 4: I think, Well, you know, I'm a firm belief I mean,
- 7:58Speaker 4: I hope. I'm holding on to the day that I
- 8:00Speaker 4: meet my husband, like there won't be a doubt. So
- 8:02Speaker 4: I feel like, you know, I knew that there was
- 8:06Speaker 4: a lot of things that Blake and I had to
- 8:09Speaker 4: figure out outside of there, and that made me really anxious,
- 8:11Speaker 4: like the fact that he lives in Canada, the fact
- 8:13Speaker 4: that he's always traveling and I'm just starting my career.
- 8:16Speaker 4: I can't take that much PTO. Like that's where my
- 8:19Speaker 4: brain goes. I'm like, how do I like is there?
- 8:22Speaker 4: Like do I take my laptop to Africa? Like it
- 8:24Speaker 4: doesn't Like I just was thinking all these things, and
- 8:26Speaker 4: I was like, I don't want to leave here in
- 8:27Speaker 4: a relationship for not to work out, and I have
- 8:30Speaker 4: to deal with that and I get my hopes up.
- 8:32Speaker 4: And so I wasn't romanticizing it because I wanted it.
- 8:36Speaker 4: I didn't want. I wanted to be real with myself,
- 8:38Speaker 4: but to a fault though, because I feel like if
- 8:40Speaker 4: I was a little bit more loose, maybe it could
- 8:43Speaker 4: have been different. But I think I was just protecting myself.
- 8:46Speaker 4: I don't I'm still trying to figure that out.
- 8:48Speaker 3: I don't know my advice recently for any new bachelor
- 8:52Speaker 3: or bachelorette when I talked to him, because it used
- 8:55Speaker 3: to be different. It's changed for me over the last
- 9:00Speaker 3: few years as I look back on that experience, and
- 9:02Speaker 3: it really is like, hey, try to enjoy it, Like
- 9:05Speaker 3: if you can find those moments to enjoy, loosen up,
- 9:08Speaker 3: like you're gonna feel like everything is out to get you,
- 9:11Speaker 3: You're gonna hold so tight to your words and your
- 9:14Speaker 3: actions and just like nobody's trying to ruin you. You
- 9:19Speaker 3: can only kind of do that yourself and just try
- 9:22Speaker 3: to have fun with it. Because I didn't I have
- 9:25Speaker 3: fun with it now looking back, I was not having
- 9:27Speaker 3: fun when I was in it, and so I get
- 9:30Speaker 3: that too, that this is a really stressful environment most
- 9:34Speaker 3: of the time to try to be human, And.
- 9:38Speaker 4: Yeah, I agree.
- 9:50Speaker 5: Can you tell us about your first few moments with Blake,
- 9:54Speaker 5: you know, your first day or two and initially like
- 9:56Speaker 5: discovering each other's personalities, because I don't think we got
- 10:00Speaker 5: to see enough of that because I think, like on paper,
- 10:04Speaker 5: Bet and I didn't put the two of you together
- 10:07Speaker 5: just knowing what we knew from previous seasons.
- 10:09Speaker 4: Yeah, no, definitely. So I remember day one, I was
- 10:13Speaker 4: the last girl to get there, so it's pretty late
- 10:15Speaker 4: in the day. Blake and I had a conversation at night.
- 10:20Speaker 4: He was the last conversation I had. I think I
- 10:25Speaker 4: talked to maybe Sean talked to me one time, and
- 10:30Speaker 4: then it was Blake. They were I only.
- 10:32Speaker 6: Talked to you know, Sean wanted to talk to you.
- 10:35Speaker 4: I think those were the only two guys I'd talked
- 10:37Speaker 4: to that night, if my memory serves me correctly. But
- 10:40Speaker 4: so Blake and I, it was just I was so
- 10:43Speaker 4: overwhelmed I got there Lee, everyone was like already spent
- 10:45Speaker 4: the whole day talking everybody. I felt very behind, Like
- 10:48Speaker 4: I was like, oh, I believe I'm going home. My
- 10:50Speaker 4: guess like I don't. Everyone's kind of locked in. And
- 10:53Speaker 4: so I saw Blake. I never thought that he'd be
- 10:56Speaker 4: interested too. I got a hint that he might be,
- 10:59Speaker 4: so I was like, okay, So I like pulled him aside,
- 11:02Speaker 4: and I shake when I get nervous, I get a
- 11:05Speaker 4: little like shaky in my little thing, even if like
- 11:08Speaker 4: an interview, like for a job, I shake. So he
- 11:12Speaker 4: It was the first time in my whole bachelor experience
- 11:14Speaker 4: I shaked every time with Zach. It was the first
- 11:18Speaker 4: time that I didn't shake with someone with a.
- 11:20Speaker 6: Guy, not all that's just the most adorable thing I've
- 11:22Speaker 6: ever heard.
- 11:22Speaker 4: So I take signs very seriously. So I was like,
- 11:25Speaker 4: I think I told him too, or no, I mean
- 11:28Speaker 4: I didn't. But I remember running back to the girls
- 11:30Speaker 4: and I was like, I didn't shake, and they were
- 11:32Speaker 4: like freaking out because they knew about that. And so
- 11:36Speaker 4: I think from then on, like there was just a
- 11:38Speaker 4: comfort with Blake. We were very just like goofy and
- 11:42Speaker 4: it was very just chill nothing. I didn't feel pressure
- 11:46Speaker 4: to like lead a conversation. I felt okay sitting in
- 11:49Speaker 4: silence with him. It just was comfortable.
- 11:51Speaker 3: I think Blake like there is there's a maturity there
- 11:56Speaker 3: that does make this really shit make more sense. I
- 12:00Speaker 3: do agree there was some like obvious things that this
- 12:04Speaker 3: it would have been really hard to make this thing work.
- 12:06Speaker 3: But for a while during the season, it did feel
- 12:08Speaker 3: like you two might be that one couple that surprises
- 12:11Speaker 3: us and ends up together at d N. How big
- 12:14Speaker 3: of a factor did Katie showing up to the beach
- 12:18Speaker 3: play in kind of the split or the disconnecting relationship.
- 12:23Speaker 4: So, to be honest, that played out very differently than
- 12:27Speaker 4: my experience on the.
- 12:29Speaker 6: Show, Oh tell us everything.
- 12:33Speaker 4: So when she came down. Prior to her coming down,
- 12:36Speaker 4: we had a conversation about past relationships. Of course I
- 12:40Speaker 4: had an idea of who Blake was, but I never
- 12:42Speaker 4: watched that season. I didn't know the extent of it,
- 12:46Speaker 4: and so he walked me through that and it like
- 12:49Speaker 4: jogged a memory. Of course I've heard about it, but
- 12:51Speaker 4: I just didn't really know, and so we kind of
- 12:53Speaker 4: walked through that relationship and I was under the impression
- 12:56Speaker 4: that with what he was telling me that they it
- 12:59Speaker 4: was just like there would be no connection again, There're
- 13:02Speaker 4: no like it wouldn't rekindle. They have things that they
- 13:04Speaker 4: had to like talk about. There was no closure, but
- 13:06Speaker 4: there was no like they wouldn't rekindle. So when she
- 13:10Speaker 4: came down, for my emotions, of course it didn't really
- 13:16Speaker 4: air this way, but my emotions were just of course,
- 13:18Speaker 4: I was like, you know, a little bit freaking out.
- 13:20Speaker 4: No one wants to see the guy that you're with,
- 13:22Speaker 4: Specs Beyonce come down. But it was more of like
- 13:25Speaker 4: I felt for both of them. That's like, it's so
- 13:27Speaker 4: hard to see your ex. They have a lot to
- 13:28Speaker 4: talk about, and you know, I was like okay, without happening.
- 13:32Speaker 4: There was no point where I was thinking that he
- 13:35Speaker 4: was going to end things and go after her from
- 13:39Speaker 4: what I from the perception of the conversation, the conversation
- 13:42Speaker 4: that we had, so that roast ceremony night just wasn't
- 13:48Speaker 4: a good night for me. Then air every roast, but
- 13:51Speaker 4: the roasts were pretty pretty brutal for everyone, and so
- 13:55Speaker 4: we just had a really off night that night and
- 13:57Speaker 4: the next day at the roast ceremony, when he ended it,
- 14:01Speaker 4: I thought it was more so just like I don't know,
- 14:04Speaker 4: I just I think my perception is a little bit different.
- 14:08Speaker 4: I didn't really realize it was like the KD factor
- 14:11Speaker 4: into it.
- 14:12Speaker 5: Well, our perception is not that he wanted to go
- 14:15Speaker 5: after her though well yeah, yeah, okay.
- 14:18Speaker 4: No, And I didn't mean it like that, but like
- 14:20Speaker 4: I think for me, like a lot of like because
- 14:23Speaker 4: he talked about how what I mean is like he
- 14:25Speaker 4: talked about like he knew what love was and that
- 14:27Speaker 4: wasn't it, and like I didn't really like I don't know,
- 14:31Speaker 4: I guess because I was so so much in the moment,
- 14:33Speaker 4: like I didn't really process that that's what it was.
- 14:36Speaker 4: And so when he left, it was like, I was
- 14:38Speaker 4: kind of overwhelmed cause I was like, we're confused. I
- 14:40Speaker 4: was like, we had time to figure it out and
- 14:42Speaker 4: I didn't understand and then watching it back and like,
- 14:46Speaker 4: oh that's because yeah, okay, gotcha.
- 14:51Speaker 3: Met Yeah the Yeah, I mean I think that whole roast.
- 14:56Speaker 3: I mean, the roast has been something that we were
- 14:59Speaker 3: very confused because you already have typically in life, we
- 15:02Speaker 3: can assume that most people have insecurities. They probably most
- 15:05Speaker 3: people have felt lonely, and most people that are on
- 15:09Speaker 3: that beach or on this show, because they're human, doesn't
- 15:13Speaker 3: like to be put down. That roast just seemed very
- 15:17Speaker 3: odd to us, and it didn't feel like it was
- 15:20Speaker 3: going to go anywhere good. It could only cause chaos
- 15:23Speaker 3: and something bad to happen. So yeah, I can understand
- 15:27Speaker 3: why you said that was a tough night for everybody,
- 15:29Speaker 3: because that's just a weird thing to put people into.
- 15:31Speaker 4: A lot of feelings were hurt. Wasn't a fun night.
- 15:34Speaker 3: You might be able to clarify something for us, Jess.
- 15:36Speaker 3: This is a question that fans have asked that no
- 15:40Speaker 3: other contestant has been able to answer yet. And I
- 15:43Speaker 3: feel like you're going to be our best shot at this.
- 15:46Speaker 3: As Blake left after ending relationship, Kylie was the one
- 15:50Speaker 3: that ran after him, surprised all of us. We had
- 15:53Speaker 3: never seen him talk during the whole season, and yet
- 15:56Speaker 3: this feels like all of a sudden they were going
- 15:58Speaker 3: to make out going into the van, but obviously they didn't.
- 16:02Speaker 3: But we never really understood what was going on there.
- 16:04Speaker 3: Were they really good friends? Had they were they talking
- 16:07Speaker 3: a lot?
- 16:07Speaker 4: Like? What?
- 16:08Speaker 2: Could you give us a context for why she ran au?
- 16:11Speaker 4: Blake and I would always hang out with the girls together.
- 16:14Speaker 4: He was very close to he was He was just
- 16:16Speaker 4: very close to a lot of people. Him and Kylie
- 16:19Speaker 4: would go to him a lot for advice about her
- 16:23Speaker 4: and Avan's relationship. And there was never a time on
- 16:26Speaker 4: that beach where I was uncomfortable by it or felt
- 16:29Speaker 4: off by it. I think watching that, definitely I could
- 16:33Speaker 4: see how people were confused by it. But they did
- 16:35Speaker 4: have a good friendship and I knew about that. I
- 16:39Speaker 4: knew about their conversation from both of both ends, So
- 16:44Speaker 4: for me, I didn't really see anything that I just
- 16:48Speaker 4: I think if everyone got to see their friendship more,
- 16:51Speaker 4: it wouldn't have been as confusing. So I think it's
- 16:53Speaker 4: just because it's like, all of a sudden, it's Kylie
- 16:56Speaker 4: and Blake. Where did that come from? Like, you don't,
- 16:58Speaker 4: we don't really see a lot of friends, So I
- 17:00Speaker 4: think that's where it gets weird. But in terms of
- 17:05Speaker 4: I never thought or and I don't and I still
- 17:07Speaker 4: don't think that there's anything going on there.
- 17:10Speaker 6: Oh okay, that was my follow up. So now they're
- 17:12Speaker 6: both single? Still nothing? No, okay.
- 17:15Speaker 5: Now, if Katie weren't to have come down those stairs,
- 17:18Speaker 5: do you guys think you would have made it another week?
- 17:20Speaker 5: You just said that you thought you needed another figure
- 17:23Speaker 5: it out conversation just from what we saw. I feel
- 17:26Speaker 5: like you guys are probably having to figure it out
- 17:29Speaker 5: too often.
- 17:30Speaker 6: What do you think?
- 17:30Speaker 4: I remember going into that night wanting to do something
- 17:35Speaker 4: fun with him and like romantic with him. We hadn't
- 17:37Speaker 4: done anything really that romantic yet, so I was trying to,
- 17:40Speaker 4: you know, step up a little bit. And I knew
- 17:43Speaker 4: that I was probably the reason that there was some
- 17:45Speaker 4: dance to let me like come step up. And so
- 17:47Speaker 4: when he pulled me you saw me, I was like
- 17:49Speaker 4: very confused. I was like, you're scaring me, Like I
- 17:51Speaker 4: just didn't see that coming at all. But I think
- 17:54Speaker 4: regardless of Katie coming down, you know, we did that switch,
- 17:57Speaker 4: and I think he probably would have still pulled back
- 18:00Speaker 4: at some point, I'm assuming, but I just think we
- 18:04Speaker 4: were never on the same page.
- 18:06Speaker 3: Yeah, this I mean, and I understand that, and that's
- 18:09Speaker 3: fair that the season didn't tell or finish some storylines.
- 18:14Speaker 3: And I think one of the ways that we saw
- 18:16Speaker 3: you doing the switch or you staying open as obviously
- 18:20Speaker 3: Blake going on a day and then you kissing Tyler
- 18:23Speaker 3: that never really got resolved. It was just kind of
- 18:25Speaker 3: a scene and then it kind of sat out there,
- 18:27Speaker 3: like what was this end? Doesn't mean anything? Did it
- 18:31Speaker 3: mean anything? Was it a surprise to you? Can you
- 18:35Speaker 3: elaborate a little bit on that situation?
- 18:37Speaker 4: Jen came down and took Blake on a date. I
- 18:40Speaker 4: didn't expect that happening at all. I didn't think he
- 18:42Speaker 4: would say yes, not that he couldn't, and not that
- 18:44Speaker 4: he I would never tell him not to. I just
- 18:47Speaker 4: the night before we had a conversation where he pretty
- 18:49Speaker 4: much that he was all in. So I just didn't
- 18:51Speaker 4: think that he would go on a date. And so
- 18:53Speaker 4: when that happened, to be honest, I think it just
- 18:56Speaker 4: had a switch in my head of like what am
- 18:58Speaker 4: I doing? And when we had a private conversation, he
- 19:02Speaker 4: was like, I'm going on this date and I want
- 19:04Speaker 4: you to figure you're out here and like, you know,
- 19:09Speaker 4: figured out. So I took that time to as much
- 19:13Speaker 4: as I was like felt guilty and didn't really want
- 19:15Speaker 4: to do it because I was like, not that I want, dude.
- 19:17Speaker 4: I was just like I felt guilty. The guy just
- 19:19Speaker 4: was like, this feels weird. But I was like, well,
- 19:20Speaker 4: Blake's on a date making out a jed, so I
- 19:23Speaker 4: should probably take this time to talk to the connections
- 19:25Speaker 4: that I've been wanting to talk to. And when Tyler
- 19:28Speaker 4: and I talked, even though it was a great conversation,
- 19:31Speaker 4: we both just it's just we had a lot going
- 19:34Speaker 4: on with with he a lot with Mercedes, and I
- 19:36Speaker 4: had a lot with Blake, So we just kind of
- 19:39Speaker 4: agreed on going separate ways. Everyone knew about it. It
- 19:42Speaker 4: wasn't this like hidden thing. I talked to Blake, I
- 19:44Speaker 4: talked to Mercedes, Tyler talked to Mercedes. I think because
- 19:47Speaker 4: it was handled very well. I mean, I'm assuming it
- 19:50Speaker 4: was handled pretty decently that there was no drama to air.
- 19:55Speaker 4: But yeah, I think It was one of those things
- 19:57Speaker 4: where it was like I finally saw like Blake left
- 20:01Speaker 4: for a day, he wasn't there. It felt like what
- 20:03Speaker 4: it was like for him not to be there, and
- 20:04Speaker 4: I kissed another guy and it just wasn't really a
- 20:06Speaker 4: good feeling.
- 20:08Speaker 5: I felt like Blake like begrudgingly, like, I think he
- 20:12Speaker 5: would have gone on the date if you had shown
- 20:15Speaker 5: no like hesitation about him.
- 20:17Speaker 6: What do you think about that?
- 20:20Speaker 4: I think so too. I think he Yeah, I think.
- 20:23Speaker 5: I thought he almost did you a favor because he
- 20:25Speaker 5: was like, I'm just going to get out of your
- 20:26Speaker 5: hair for a day.
- 20:27Speaker 4: Yeah. I think in his perspective he was doing that
- 20:30Speaker 4: to like leave and give me space. At the time,
- 20:34Speaker 4: I wasn't understanding that because I was like, that's taking
- 20:37Speaker 4: away from Jen being able to make a connection. So
- 20:39Speaker 4: I think at the time on Paradise, I was like, oh, well,
- 20:43Speaker 4: he's actually wanting to explore gen because he did say
- 20:45Speaker 4: to me when he told me it was nice to
- 20:46Speaker 4: feel wanted. So he left me the page telling me
- 20:50Speaker 4: that he was pretty much trying it out, so like, yes,
- 20:53Speaker 4: he was doing me a favor, but he also was
- 20:54Speaker 4: doing that for him too.
- 20:56Speaker 2: Have you talked to him.
- 20:57Speaker 4: Since, Yes, we're good friends. Like we're like on goad
- 21:01Speaker 4: terms nothing no issues or anything like.
- 21:04Speaker 5: You text sometimes or you DM sometimes, or like you
- 21:07Speaker 5: face time sometimes.
- 21:10Speaker 4: Just you know, communicate however you communicate with the front.
- 21:16Speaker 6: Have you seen him in person? Since no, liar not lying.
- 21:25Speaker 4: No, we're very good. We're very good friends. I signed
- 21:29Speaker 4: up for hard questions, not these cluestion. No.
- 21:37Speaker 3: Uh, you know it is it is fun. I wouldn't
- 21:40Speaker 3: be surprised if you saw each other. You could have
- 21:41Speaker 3: said yes, because it feels like Blake has done a
- 21:44Speaker 3: great job but kind of rallying a lot of people
- 21:47Speaker 3: from Paradise together to do the stuff he loves and
- 21:51Speaker 3: that other people love doing. You know, we see uh
- 21:56Speaker 3: snapshots and social media often with other contestants. In fact,
- 22:00Speaker 3: I had to ask if Rachel and Blake were dating,
- 22:02Speaker 3: and somebody said, no, they're just friends. So maybe he's
- 22:05Speaker 3: just really good at being friends with all these really
- 22:07Speaker 3: pretty girls from Paradise.
- 22:10Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 22:12Speaker 3: Just when you went down to the beach, was Blake
- 22:15Speaker 3: the person that was top on your list or who
- 22:17Speaker 3: was top?
- 22:18Speaker 4: No? I did not think I would be on Blake's list,
- 22:21Speaker 4: so I didn't even think about that. I hate to
- 22:25Speaker 4: say list, but I was just mainly interested in getting
- 22:27Speaker 4: to know Tanner and Tyler. But ultimately you can say that,
- 22:32Speaker 4: but it's a matter of who wants to explore you too.
- 22:34Speaker 4: So I went into it not being too hard on
- 22:37Speaker 4: the list because it's just a matter of like the
- 22:40Speaker 4: you know, it's mutual and compatibility and all that.
- 22:43Speaker 5: We talked about your friendship with Kat, Like we love
- 22:46Speaker 5: Kat as a reality star.
- 22:48Speaker 6: She's amazing.
- 22:49Speaker 5: Uh, you guys seem like an incompatible friend couple though,
- 22:52Speaker 5: Like you are so just sweet and wholesome.
- 22:56Speaker 6: And she is.
- 22:58Speaker 5: Loud in your face and intense, So like, tell us
- 23:03Speaker 5: about how you guys click.
- 23:05Speaker 4: Yeah, So we became close on Bachelor because we had
- 23:10Speaker 4: a conversation that we're both from Florida and we actually
- 23:12Speaker 4: had some mutual friends. She went to a college near
- 23:15Speaker 4: my hometown and so it was just like a very
- 23:18Speaker 4: like a familiar face almost like it felt like home
- 23:21Speaker 4: a little bit. And so we just got close through
- 23:24Speaker 4: then and we're very very different. But also she has
- 23:27Speaker 4: a good heart, and I think it's, yeah, it's unfortunate
- 23:30Speaker 4: that you know, she does bring such good TV and
- 23:33Speaker 4: I think that that was very leaned into because she,
- 23:36Speaker 4: I mean, she was one of the people that carried
- 23:38Speaker 4: the season with with how good a TV she is.
- 23:41Speaker 4: But he has more to offer to her than what
- 23:43Speaker 4: we're just seeing, and she's someone what I love about
- 23:46Speaker 4: her is she is very willing to grow and listen
- 23:50Speaker 4: to different perspectives. And she helps me grow too, and
- 23:54Speaker 4: other in different ways that I didn't know that I
- 23:56Speaker 4: needed help in. So it's just it's a lot of
- 24:01Speaker 4: learning and growing from each other.
- 24:03Speaker 3: It always gets a little too much at times, but
- 24:05Speaker 3: it was it was a tough season for Cat. I mean,
- 24:07Speaker 3: she had a couple of weeks there where it felt
- 24:09Speaker 3: like the stuff we were seeing was, yes, gonna be
- 24:14Speaker 3: criticized and she was going to get you know, the
- 24:20Speaker 3: the negative comments made about her. But as a friend
- 24:23Speaker 3: who lived through this with her, what was that like
- 24:26Speaker 3: watching that take you know, play out?
- 24:28Speaker 4: Do you mean like watching it back or like being.
- 24:30Speaker 3: There watching it back and then knowing how you know,
- 24:36Speaker 3: she was obviously very hurt just by the public statements
- 24:40Speaker 3: she made.
- 24:40Speaker 4: No matter what is warranted or not. I think the
- 24:45Speaker 4: hate that this franchise receives is just it's just insane
- 24:49Speaker 4: and so blown out of proportion. I felt very bad
- 24:52Speaker 4: for her because as a friend, it was very hard
- 24:54Speaker 4: to see, even just like her own comments section on
- 24:58Speaker 4: her social media page is like that is. It just
- 25:01Speaker 4: was really heartbreaking because I don't think anyone deserves the
- 25:04Speaker 4: level of hate that they get on an edited TV show.
- 25:08Speaker 4: So I think the heart of the most hardest thing
- 25:11Speaker 4: was to just see how hard it was for her.
- 25:16Speaker 4: For what people didn't really understand was that she's human
- 25:19Speaker 4: and she's watching this back with and reliving these hard moments,
- 25:22Speaker 4: and on top of that, receiving so much hate from
- 25:24Speaker 4: it that it's really bad her mental health. And I
- 25:27Speaker 4: just that was like my my biggest concern with her
- 25:30Speaker 4: all season was making sure she was okay and it.
- 25:33Speaker 6: Was tough, and how is she doing now with the
- 25:35Speaker 6: John Henry split.
- 25:38Speaker 4: I'm excited for her to be able to, you know,
- 25:41Speaker 4: share more about that, but I think all she can
- 25:43Speaker 4: do right now is just focus on herself and heal.
- 25:47Speaker 4: But she's a lot stronger than anyone could imagine, so
- 25:51Speaker 4: I think she'll be okay.
- 25:52Speaker 3: Well, to close out here, Jess, it really was fantastic.
- 25:58Speaker 3: You know, you came on the podcast a while back
- 26:01Speaker 3: and you left the podcast, and Ashley and I are
- 26:04Speaker 3: like that girl, she's special, you know, she's She's a
- 26:07Speaker 3: great person to have on this show, and obviously people
- 26:12Speaker 3: we're seeing this on the beach as well. I feel like,
- 26:16Speaker 3: if anything, you should walk away from this experience knowing
- 26:20Speaker 3: that there was a lot of guys that still want
- 26:23Speaker 3: to talk to you and that wanted to talk to
- 26:24Speaker 3: you once Blake left the scene. Final question from me here,
- 26:32Speaker 3: is there anything different that you wish you would have
- 26:35Speaker 3: done in Paradise other than having more fun? Mostly I'm
- 26:39Speaker 3: talking about in decisions there.
- 26:41Speaker 4: I think for me, like I know I've seen or
- 26:45Speaker 4: heard before that my lack of experience comes off as immaturity.
- 26:49Speaker 4: But for me, like that is something that I take
- 26:52Speaker 4: a lot of pride in that I don't just date
- 26:54Speaker 4: around don't. I don't date a lot of people, And
- 26:58Speaker 4: that's because when I meet my per and I'm excited
- 27:00Speaker 4: to be like, well, I saved all of this about
- 27:02Speaker 4: myself for you, and so I think for me, the
- 27:06Speaker 4: only thing that I would do differently is maybe just
- 27:09Speaker 4: I would have waited. I think there's ways to learn
- 27:12Speaker 4: about what you're looking for and what you're wanting outside
- 27:14Speaker 4: of just dating. A bunch of people. So that was
- 27:18Speaker 4: the first time. That was the most dating that I
- 27:20Speaker 4: have ever done on Paradise, and I didn't really do that.
- 27:24Speaker 4: So I think the one thing I've done differently is
- 27:26Speaker 4: to just go into it more confident in other ways
- 27:30Speaker 4: than just having more experience.
- 27:31Speaker 6: I get that, totally.
- 27:33Speaker 3: Take it from somebody who's married to somebody who self
- 27:36Speaker 3: admittedly did not have a lot of experience.
- 27:39Speaker 2: She had a lot of one.
- 27:39Speaker 3: Yeah, like first dates, but uh yeah, not a lot
- 27:44Speaker 3: of second dates or third dates. And you know, there
- 27:48Speaker 3: is there's there's a beauty in that, and there's an
- 27:51Speaker 3: admiration I think too, where now that I've gotten to
- 27:55Speaker 3: know more about my wife, there's just it was and
- 28:00Speaker 3: always easy. But she she's a tough girl, and she
- 28:02Speaker 3: did she cares deeply about the decision she's making and so.
- 28:07Speaker 2: Be proud of that.
- 28:08Speaker 3: And uh, one day, who knows, somebody may slide into
- 28:12Speaker 3: your DMS and.
- 28:13Speaker 2: You could get getting married three years later.
- 28:15Speaker 3: I guess I do have one low a cress and
- 28:16Speaker 3: has anybody from the Bachelor of franchise slid into your
- 28:19Speaker 3: DM since.
- 28:19Speaker 6: This show, no one that any celebrities let's go to I.
- 28:26Speaker 4: Know I don't know.
- 28:27Speaker 2: I don't know, because yes, gracious.
- 28:32Speaker 4: I do not. I don't think I come off as
- 28:35Speaker 4: someone that would probably openly respond to. So I feel
- 28:39Speaker 4: like I feel like that's the reason why it may
- 28:42Speaker 4: not happen very frequently, because I don't normally. Yeah, I
- 28:46Speaker 4: don't really, Yeah, I don't know. I'm not much of
- 28:49Speaker 4: like a I don't know. I like to keep to
- 28:52Speaker 4: myself and if I'm single, I like to really lean
- 28:55Speaker 4: into that, and I like things to happen organically. So
- 28:59Speaker 4: I think in terms of world, I am taking a
- 29:01Speaker 4: break from from bochelor boys. I'm just learning to love
- 29:05Speaker 4: myself right now, focus on my job, my career, moving
- 29:08Speaker 4: all that before I answered in DMS. But if it's
- 29:12Speaker 4: like a really hot guy out there that's listening, he'll
- 29:15Speaker 4: try give me the option to open it or not
- 29:18Speaker 4: open it.
- 29:19Speaker 3: I was gonna say, I met my wife through a DM,
- 29:22Speaker 3: so like, don't say no to everybody, because there could
- 29:26Speaker 3: be somebody that all of a sudden, you go on
- 29:27Speaker 3: your first day and I guess this is it.
- 29:28Speaker 2: We're over.
- 29:29Speaker 4: I'm not against it. I like the option of it
- 29:31Speaker 4: being there, but I may not take it.
- 29:33Speaker 5: So we'll see Ben's also not the kind of guy
- 29:35Speaker 5: that you would think is going to go and slide
- 29:37Speaker 5: into DMS, so like that's who you should.
- 29:40Speaker 6: Be looking out for, right, I agree?
- 29:42Speaker 4: I agree.
- 29:43Speaker 2: Okay, the weirdos who never go on social media, but
- 29:46Speaker 2: when they do they have.
- 30:00Speaker 5: My last question for you is are you truly shocked
- 30:03Speaker 5: at any of these breakups?
- 30:05Speaker 4: I think the only emotion I have is just I
- 30:09Speaker 4: feel so sad because a lot of them, we're very
- 30:12Speaker 4: excited to share their relationships, so it's just really sad
- 30:16Speaker 4: to be friends with everyone and see that that didn't
- 30:20Speaker 4: come into fruition. So I can't imagine being in their position.
- 30:23Speaker 4: So it's just sad.
- 30:26Speaker 6: Oh wait, wait, I'm sorry. We just keep thinking about things.
- 30:29Speaker 2: Just as kind of like she's really good.
- 30:31Speaker 3: This is like a congressional hearing where like we asked
- 30:34Speaker 3: the tough question, She's like, huh, yeah, what's the thing
- 30:37Speaker 3: I can say here that makes sense?
- 30:39Speaker 4: Well, I've had a lot of interview prep for jobs,
- 30:43Speaker 4: so I have I'm very good at.
- 30:46Speaker 6: She's very good.
- 30:47Speaker 5: We said at the top of the show, you know
- 30:48Speaker 5: we're gonna have hard questions, and she goes, I like
- 30:51Speaker 5: hard questions. Well, now we know, because she could beat
- 30:53Speaker 5: around the bullsh around them.
- 30:55Speaker 2: Yeah, She's like, I feel like we should just be
- 30:57Speaker 2: like is it a yes or no?
- 30:58Speaker 4: Oh gosh, I'm not good. Yes, there's no questions.
- 31:01Speaker 5: Okay, okay, But like I saw you on FaceTime with Kylie.
- 31:04Speaker 5: There was like that FaceTime with you and Kylie And
- 31:07Speaker 5: was it Cat or was it Mercedes?
- 31:09Speaker 6: I don't know. I forget who was with the like.
- 31:11Speaker 4: New like thing or those fireworks and stuff.
- 31:14Speaker 5: Yeah, you guys like posted that you guys were on
- 31:17Speaker 5: a FaceTime excited that you didn't have to go on
- 31:19Speaker 5: reality TV again.
- 31:20Speaker 4: That was pre breakup.
- 31:22Speaker 5: Oh so it was screenshot from weeks days earlier.
- 31:26Speaker 4: Pre breakup. I think we were just we were excited
- 31:30Speaker 4: regardless about the breakup. It was just us being excited
- 31:32Speaker 4: for the point of it was no more trolls. We
- 31:34Speaker 4: were like, no more trolls, Like we're done, like we
- 31:38Speaker 4: can live in sunshine and rainbows and no more mean people.
- 31:42Speaker 4: That was like what we were doing.
- 31:43Speaker 6: I can't believe there's still mean people talking to you guys.
- 31:46Speaker 4: Yeah, I just block. I don't even I'm like a bye, yeah.
- 31:50Speaker 5: But then they get a little vindicated from the block
- 31:52Speaker 5: that it's like, oh I got to her.
- 31:55Speaker 4: Yeah, I guess, but my mental health is more important
- 31:57Speaker 4: than like.
- 31:57Speaker 3: Real yeah mart statement, Yeah yeah, she's taken the wise route.
- 32:04Speaker 3: She's taking the wise route by just saying you don't
- 32:06Speaker 3: need to be a part of my life. Then, Jess,
- 32:08Speaker 3: it's great to have you on here. You showed well.
- 32:11Speaker 3: We hope to see you back on television, but I
- 32:14Speaker 3: also hope that maybe you meet somebody before that opportunity
- 32:18Speaker 3: comes about again for you. So but it was a
- 32:22Speaker 3: pleasure watching this season as our first pick in the
- 32:26Speaker 3: Bachelor in Paradise fantasy draft that never existed did well
- 32:30Speaker 3: for You're so sweet.
- 32:33Speaker 6: Please give me media training.
- 32:35Speaker 4: Bye, my gosh.
- 32:38Speaker 3: This has been another episode of the Almost Fumous podcast.
- 32:41Speaker 3: Of course, we had what I would say, I mean,
- 32:43Speaker 3: I think social media responded to it as well. Probably
- 32:47Speaker 3: the star, maybe not the most watched person this season,
- 32:52Speaker 3: but definitely the one that gathered the biggest following and
- 32:55Speaker 3: had a lot of support coming off of the season
- 32:56Speaker 3: of Bachelor in Paradise es with us today. Another great
