Wake Forest Deacs Dominate Opener | Wake Forest Football News
Wake Forest exploded out of the gate in their 2026 opener, cruising to a 38-16 win with dominant play from Carlos Hernandez, who hauled in five catches for 165 yards and a 78-yard TD, while Antonio Meeks and Kam Shanks added big plays. The offensive line protected the QB perfectly—zero sacks—and defense held opponents to just 3 points through three quarters. But concerns linger: depth issues after an injury, shaky backups on defense in the final quarter, and still too many penalties (11 for 115 yards). A strong start, but there’s work to do.
